ANOTHER FOSTER FAIL!

Hartley came to us on September 7, 2024. He was found in a graveyard in Lakeport, CA. We think someone dumped him there because he’s very affectionate. Hartley’s original mobility challenges were in his back legs and right front leg. By the time he arrived here he was using his back legs (100%) but still lame on his right front leg. Well, that quickly cleared up, too, and now Hartley is using all 4 legs 100%.

We placed Hartley in foster care with volunteer Irina because Hartley was very small for his age. With Irina and her family, Hartley would receive more attention, which would hopefully stimulate his appetite. Well, it has! Although Hartley’s still a bit small for his age, he’s catching up and growing fast.

Of course, once you meet Hartley you instantly fall in love with him. And that’s what happened with Irina and her family, husband Michael and daughter, Sasha.

Help RJ Sleep Safely — A Fundraiser for His Autism Safety Bed

RJ is a joyful, imaginative 4-year-old with autism who fills our lives with laughter and light. But when night falls, sleep becomes a real danger.

RJ is at an elopement risk level, which means he may wander during the night without warning. This puts him in harm’s way, every single time he sleeps. We found the perfect solution, a zPods enclosed safety bed designed specifically for children like RJ. It offers sensory relief, protection, and peace.

But we’ve had to fight tooth and nail just to get a response from insurance. We’ve worked with three different companies. We filed claims, letters of medical necessity, appeal packets; and still, we were denied.

Despite working in the insurance field for years, there was nothing we could do to push this through. And now, after everything, we’ve been told we don’t qualify for assistance from any program or agency. We are on our own, but we’re not giving up.

The full cost of RJ’s bed and setup is $6,250. That’s why we’ve launched this fundraiser and are turning to our community.

This little cutie doesn’t have a name yet. He’s 10 weeks-old and FeLV+. He came in yesterday from Lake County (CA) where his littermate was euthanized for being FeLV+. Not wanting this kitten to meet the same fate, Dale contacted us…
