A Quick Analysis On Belphegor

Alright time to go over my many screenshots and analyze what they gave us of Belphie’s character in the last two chapters. Not beating around any bushes. Shit is long. Like. “ I threw this into docs to check and it came out to 4 pages ” long.

His Attention

First of all——— !! I’d just like to point out how RIGHT I was in saying that he’s super attentive of those he chooses to care about. Whenever they’re talking about his bros nothing seems like a surprise to him unless it’s a TOTAL change of who they were before as with Satan’s relationship with Lucifer. But when it comes to Levi he basically says, “ Knowing him, he was thinking this wasn’t he? That’s just how he is. ” Or when choosing an outfit with Asmo he says exactly, “ As if Asmo would ever be satisfied with an outfit like that. It’s not nearly bombastic enough for him. ” And shortly after, even ASMO says that he pays a lot of attention to the MC if you choose ‘ I owe it all to Belphie ’. ( I didn’t try the other option so idk if he says this regardless ). He pays attention and OTHERS pick up on it.

While it can be excused because they’ve lived so long together, I’d like to say that there are still plenty of things you can NEVER catch onto even if you know someone for a lifetime. There’s also people like me who, while I love my friends so much, don’t always pick up on things. Some are just better than others and I feel like that MORE accurately applies to the brothers. They notice things sure, but not EVERYTHING like Belphie probably does. And there’s a plethora of things they can be familiar with only because it’s been a constant or a habit.

It’s also worth pointing out that even despite being locked up in the attic for who knows how long, Bel still knew his brothers incredibly well and that attention to detail didn’t falter.

His Imprisonment

I also want to take a moment and mention how the way Belphegor talks about being kept in the attic seems to imply that he’s been kept there for QUITE a while. The exchange program is supposed to last a year and we’re given no real timeline to keep track of things. Even if we sum it up to roughly a couple months, he speaks as if it’s been much longer— and when you take a moment you realize it actually HAS been. When he got into his fight with Lucifer, that was before the program even began. It might not have even been in the planning stages ! The proposal could’ve simply been thrown out there and then after gaining support it underwent all the preparations. How long could THAT itself have taken ??

Even when you first meet him in the attic and have the option of asking how long he’s been there, he ANGRILY responds with, “ That’s a good question. How long has it been now, I wonder ? Well, one thing I can say for sure: I’ve been in here for a very, very long time. ” So yeah. Seems reasonable to say it’s been at the very least a year already.

Belphie doesn’t seem like the dramatic type or one to necessarily over-exaggerate. He refers to himself as having been a PRISONER and I don’t count that as exaggeration either because he really WAS a prisoner in his own home and the effects of it are quite evident. He addresses it a couple times and one of his lines on the home screen refers to Levi. And it actually seems to counter a home screen line of Levi’s that says they’re more ALIKE when you think about it. ( Which they kind of are and I’ll get into a little of that later ). But it basically says that they’re different because Levi CHOOSES to be a recluse while he had no choice in being imprisoned and he legitimately says that in the regard, “ Levi has nothing on me. ”

While the game has them make up in these chapters, I don’t believe Lucifer’s simple apology is really enough to make up for the damage. As I said, it REALLY affected Bel and extended for quite a while. Bel missed out on a LOT and is deeply saddened by it. He regrets not being involved even if he couldn’t help it. This is the same brother who already struggled with loneliness and is now a stranger to everything that happened for the last 1+ year. I think it’s more accurate to say that he accepted the apology but hasn’t TRULY forgiven him yet. And for the moment could be swept under the rug while he personally works on getting over it.

His Effort

I have enjoyed the game immensely in showing us what Belphegor is capable of. When they work part-time in Hell’s Kitchen that SINGULAR time, it’s emphasized that the restaurant works its employees tirelessly. Despite this, he still held his own and was the only one not actually tired in the end. He’s even the one who made sure everything was flowing smoothly, properly, and implied to have HOUNDED Mammon and MC in doing so. This seems to suggest that Belphie actually has an incredible reserve of energy to tap into when he so chooses. A reserve that’s built up from all of the sleeping he does.

In other words, although he’s the sin of Sloth and is INDEED a sleepy boy, there’s plenty of opportunity for him to apply himself. It’s just a matter of wanting to— and he usually doesn’t want to. Hence he chooses to SLEEP instead and immerse himself in his very attribute.

However, the game also shows us that he’s pretty well-rounded and can also be deeply involved or helpful when it comes to his brothers and THEIR own interests.

i.e. he and Satan bond over their dislike of Lucifer and orchestrate pranks against him, he enjoys video games and manga alongside Levi DESPITE not wanting to let him know, and he has a great sense of fashion to the point he knows what would better / best suit Asmo

And I really ADORE this about him because it continues to build him up as more than just the ‘ cat-napping seventh born ’ and actually gives him a place among his brothers as the one that can easily and probably best navigate among them ALL.

His Personality

Sadly, despite being able to fit in with any one of his brothers, it seems like apart from Beelzebub, the street doesn’t run BOTH ways. Yes, everyone makes up. But this doesn’t exactly change how things will actually be from that point on and it definitely doesn’t change the past. Levi himself remarks how Belphie has ALWAYS been difficult to approach even at the best of times. It’s noted that they’re both the socially awkward brothers and Bel doesn’t enjoy large gathering atmospheres and prefers to be alone than attend them. Compared to Levi who can at least FORCE himself to bear with it, he takes the first opportunity to find a space for himself away from it all. From this we know he’s good in small to medium sized groups but beyond that is overwhelming for him. WAY past his comfort zone.

Additionally, we also now know just how disconnected from everyone he is if they always had difficulty going to him. This make you wonder if the strangeness and distance they treated him with in these chapters hasn’t actually happened a NUMBER of times thereby explaining why he was so unfazed by it all when it shouldn’t have been okay. I don’t believe he’s completely unaffected so much as he’s just USED TO the occasional cold shoulder.

These brothers are the Avatars of Sin and clearly not immune to the very things they cause. In fact, I would almost go to say that they feel it to an EXTREME and merely have varying degrees of a handle on it. That is to say that Belphie potentially has a seriously hard time given the vastness of Sloth and just covers it decently well. ( See here or his bio for some insight. ) And the greatest sadness to this is how the brothers are all fully AWARE of things that aren’t typically okay. They’re aware of their own familial issues and just CHOOSE to not aid or ignore it. Excuse it if you will with ‘ they’re demons, they lack morals ’. This is their family that they claim to care deeply about and have to live with for several millennia and you’re gonna just not make it better ? Shame on them. And for added note—— this isn’t just how I feel about in regards to Belphie but OTHERS as well such as Mammon.

Continuing on though, because this isn’t about that. It’s relieving that Belphegor still has so much personality beyond his hang ups. He looks at everyone for who THEY are as seen by how he is the first and only one so far to tell the MC he’s there for them and NOT because of their connection to Lilith. At the same time he’s an incredibly bratty boy in his texts. It’s almost like in story he behaves one way and in text it’s another. Like he’s carrying out a specific appearance in public and DMs are him NO holds barred. ( Which we know he’s aware and likely capable of picking out images to portray through outfit deciding with Asmo ). He can have an attitude and has no fear saying what he REALLY thinks / feels and especially doesn’t like anything that even remotely gives the assumption that someone views him as a child.

He gets bored easily and can’t stand it, is most likely an insomniac due to feeling more awake the later it gets, and is ALWAYS looking out for Beel via combination of being so close to him and having a special twin connection. Nonetheless, it’s enough to assume that he’s highly considerate of the others as well and that Beel is just priority.

David: I love that you automatically think that😂😂

Here’s to hoping he’s talking about the Bel-Air Country Club. That is where I had my first collegiate win and where I made a name for myself shooting the club record. That’s also where I worked my first job and where I met David. I have so many amazing memories there.

I end up staying in the clothes I wore to bed most of the day until about 3. I decided to go ahead and take a shower with Read Southall Band at full blast. Listening to them reminds me of home and my childhood. I get lost in the music and end up dancing around with just a towel on for 30 minutes. I look at the time and it says 4:18...perfect time to use the free Chipotle for a year card.

My food arrives 30 minutes later. A steak burrito with white rice, black beans, queso, sour cream, lettuce, cheese, and tomatillo hot sauce. At 5 I decide to finally get dresses. I chose a short bodycon black dress with black thigh high boots. It didn’t take me long I figure out what I was going to wear, that outfit is David’s favorite. I did my makeup, straightened my hair, and put my mother’s childhood ring on. (A/N: I may mention a mother’s ring a lot in my stories. I finally have my family’s heirloom and it is so pretty, but so fragile.) At 5:45 David texts me saying that there is a Lyft waiting outside for me. Lucky for him I was ready.

The driver greets me through the open front passenger side window with a welcomed, “Oooh baby you look amazing! Where did you get those fabulous boots honey?” I chuckle. We talk about food, travel, and relationships. We also come up with theories about what might happen tonight. “I have a pretty good idea as to what might happen,” the driver states. “Huh? How?” I question. “Baby I know where you are going. It’s some off the wall place so it must have some type of meaning or else you need to dump David,” he replies. Before I can say much else, we arrive. He turns around in his seat and says, “Good luck doll. You look gorgeous. Go and have a wonderful night.” I thank him for everything and give him a $20 dollar cash tip.

I stand on the sidewalk bewildered. It is just a park with a view of West Hollywood. I start scanning the area more, suddenly being more and more worried about where I am. I call David. “Hi. Um..where are you? I’m alone and the sun is setting,” I asked with a hint of scaredness in my voice. “Hang on. I’ll be right there. Don’t get too scared on me,” he responds with a light chuckle, “Give me 5 minutes baby.” He hangs up and I lean on a light pole, scrolling through my phone.

“GOTCHA!”

I turn around lightning fast and slap the daylights out of whoever it was and make a run for it, which is quite hard with heels and boots that restrict knee movement.

The person yells back, “Woah, woah babe it’s just me. Calm down. Were you that scared?”

Fuck. It’s David. I should’ve know it was him. “Oh god, sorry. And yes I was that scared. Why would you sneak up behind me like that?”

“Well I didn’t think you’d react like that.”

“And you’ve known me for how long?” I question as I start making my way back towards him. Once I get to him, I hold his hands and kiss his check where I slapped him. “Sorry.”

“It’s fine,” he replies lightly, “So how bout we go and have an amazing night?” I smile up at the goofball and he leads me to his special spot. After about 5 minutes of waking, he stops and says, “Ok you gotta cover your eyes now.” “I knew this is how I’d go. Make sure my friends get their lazy butts up to the funeral okay?” He rolls his eyes and laughs, but I oblige. He grabs both my hands and walks some more. He moves his hands for a moment and Perfect starts playing. “Open.”

As I’m looking around, it’s something that happens in dreams and on T.V. Shows. String lights hang above us like a canopy, soft music plays in the background, champagne is chilling in an ice bucket with glasses ready to be filled, a large outdoor blanket, a big bowl of hot and fresh spaghetti, and a beautiful view of all of L.A., at sunset.

“Dav-,” my voice breaks out, “this is perfect. How’d you do all of this?”

“A great boyfriend never reveals his ways,” he gives me the goofiest smile I’ve ever seen.

“Oh wa-wait a minute. You’ve got your camera, a cliff, a beautiful view, a gorgeous girlfriend, and great clickbait,” I pause, “I’m getting pushed off this fucking cliff aren’t I?”

He breaks out laughing. “No, I’m serious! Why’d you bring me here?” I start questioning.

“Why not?” He answered.

“Because this isn’t the David I know. You usually aren’t some helpless romantic. It’s usually I love you, here’s a car or flowers, and the smile for the clickbait!”

“Now I’m tempted to push you off....” He ponders out loud. I playfully punch him in the arm laughing.

“The reason I brought you here was to give you this.” He reaches inside his left pocket and gets down on one knee. My breathing faultes a bit. “Y/N L/N, the amazing, gorgeous, smart, talented, funny, smart ass, Y/N L/N. I love everything about you. Especially the so called “flaws” you hate about yourself. You are you and you are spectacular. Y/N, will you marry me?” I’m almost shaking at this point, and with my hands cupped over my mouth I aggressively shake my head yes. He bounces up and hugs the livin daylights outta me. Once we somewhat settle back down, he grabs my left ring finger and slides the silver diamond ring on. He engulfs me in yet another hug.

As we pull away I ask, “Two things. One: Let’s pop the top on that champagne! Two: Does this mean I’m stuck with you for the rest of my life?”

“Hell yeah! And yes, best of luck to you. I can hardly deal with myself as it is,” he retorts jokingly.

“I love you.”

“I love you too babydoll.”

Fic Summary: Objectively, Keith Kogane should have had exactly zero shot at someone like Takashi Shirogane. The guy was a complete overachiever, a twelfth grade honour student, star of the football team, and overall Good Catholic Boy right down to the purity ring adorning his finger. But Keith couldn't get him out of his head. Ever since the guy had stuck up for Keith when he was being hassled for being gay by some kids on the basketball team, Keith had just found Shiro fascinating. And… Shiro seemed to like him, seemed to like talking to him, didn't seem anything like the other guys and girls in that little pretentious chastity circle. So fuck it, right? You never know until you try, right? Well, Keith was damn sure going to try.

Oh boy this fic has been an adventure. So, once upon a time, a great many months ago, I was listening to Dead Girl Walking from the Heathers soundtrack and this idea popped into my head. One very short idea jamming session later, I shoved it into my google doc of ideas and forgot about it. Then the @sheithbigbang rolled around. And I decided to dig this concept out, dust it off, and turn it into this.

There was no way Keith had a chance. Not with Takashi Shirogane. The dude was the poster child of best behaviour. He was the literal top of his class overachiever honor student purity ring-wearing Catholic boy. He went to youth group after church every Sunday for years and now he taught the thing. From what Keith had heard, the guy barely ever even kissed his cheerleader girlfriends. He probably couldn't even masturbate without Catholic Guilt.

Objectively speaking, Keith should have had exactly zero shot at Takashi Shirogane. So why was he marching across the guy's lawn and debating climbing his trellis at well past eleven at night?

Well, because sometimes you just have to go for it.

That, and the fact that there was a very good chance on Monday he was going to be expelled. There was a 'disciplinary meeting' scheduled for him and with how many times he'd gotten in trouble already, it would be a fucking miracle if they gave him another shot. But so what? So he would be sent to some kind of correctional school to try to turn him into a 'functional and successful' member of society.

So maybe, just maybe, he wanted to prove just how fucked up 'functional and successful' society was. And if he could screw his crush in the process, well that would just prove he didn't need to prove himself to them because they were just as fucked up as he was.

He had a countdown clock on his head but that didn't mean he was going down without a fight.

Thirty hours to live, how shall I spend them?

The lyric blasting through Keith's earbuds fueled his motivation and his dedication to his cause.

It wasn't like he didn't know where Shiro lived. More than a few parties had happened at the Shirogane house. Sure, he'd never been the one to technically *throw* the parties as far as Keith had heard but his parents were frequently out of town and his girlfriends 'decided' that Shiro was going to host.

Keith wondered if they only did it hoping to get him drunk and take his v-card. Idiots. They didn't know a damn thing about Shiro if that's what they thought.

Keith's plan was far more simple than that. Takashi Shirogane was a good guy, a kind man, and Keith had suffered from holding a torch for the guy for well over a year since he was a fourteen year old freshman and Shiro had stepped in on his behalf to tell some jerks to back off of harassing him.

Now he was two years older, fresh on the other side of his sixteenth birthday, and determined to seduce the most unattainable guy in school, and a senior, at that, not to mention… straight. But hey, an ass was an ass, right? It wasn't like he needed to date the guy—nice as that would be, Keith wasn't totally delusional to think that Shiro would be into him like that. He was straight. And that was fine. But at least Keith could be his first.

If tonight went the way he hoped it would.

I’ve been to this beautiful state many times before, but this time was special. Last week I traveled to Las Vegas for my annual meeting with my company and when it was over, I decided to fly in the wife so we can experience a little bit of the West Coast together.

Since we did the tourist thing last year in Vegas, I wanted this year to special. So we decided to rent a car at the hotel in Vegas and take a nice ride through the desert to make it over to California. Naturally, you can’t do that drive unless you get a convertible, right!?

The drive was a short four hours but it was well worth it. Even though we were going on a straight highway in the middle of the desert, it seemed like every couple minutes the mountains ahead of us were changing. Every time we looked to the left and right it was a new rock we haven’t seen before. With no clouds in site, Dirty Heads playing on the speakers and the wind in our hair, we enjoyed this ride almost as much as the rest of the trip. However, we had much more to see…

Our final destination was a very simple Double Tree Hotel in Downtown Los Angeles. When we do these trips, we’re not looking for fancy for the hotel. I mean, at the end of the day if you do your trips right you should only be sleeping at the hotel, not spending the whole day there so we don’t like to waste a lot of money on our stays. Plus, being a Hilton Honors member, breakfast was free so that saved us about $30 per day. Boom!

We arrived on a Friday for an early check in, then immediately had a reservation to visit the Warner Bros Studio Tour in Hollywood, about 15 minutes away. I was really anxious and geeking out about this place because WB has always been one of my favorite studios. They worked on numerous classical films and series we all know and love but I was especially excited because I heard they had a Batman Museum which they keep adding to! Yes, the rumors were true and it was fantastic!

I took so many more pictures I might have to start another Blog Post! Honestly though, it was such a great time seeing the studio where so many movies and shows were filmed. One of our favorites shows, Friends was filmed here, along with The Big Bang Theory (In their last season), plus countless movies including Batman films, Minority Report, 300, Inception, this list is massive.

In fact, before they let you visit the old Central Perk set (from Friends) and the Batman Museum (best thing ever) they take you around the entire studio to show you streets that they’ve built from scratch, places were you’ll recognize scenes from your favorite movies and series over the years.

Now that Day One was over, we had much more exploring to do. Since the wife has never been to this gorgeous state, of course we had to really do the tourist thing while we were here and since we had the convertible we knew this would be a hell of a scenic tour. Next stop, the Hollywood sign!

Theres numerous places to “see” the sign but we decided to drive up the path to the Observatory Viewing Area and take a little walk up the mountain to get a better view. As you can tell from the picture we didn’t go to far up, the higher you go the closer to sign you’ll get. As much as we wanted to walk this, the day was young and we had much to see so we grabbed a few shots and walked back down. Oh, by the way in case you were wondering, the people watching was incredible up here 😉

We jumped back in the Mustang and took a drive down the ever so popular Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills. This particular road is famous for numerous things, besides just the Kardasian’s. It’s a street that’s only about 3 miles long, near Sunset Blvd where there’s some great shops and restaurants that’s usually flooded with tourists, so naturally we had to hang out here for a little bit. We still had much to do, so we grabbed a quick snack where I accidentally spilled beet juice on my blue shirt and we hit the road again, wishing the red stains would disappear on their own.

Before heading back to the hotel, we had to drive down the famous Bel-Air this because we wanted to see what Will Smith was talking about for so many years. It was pretty tight. Although, our last stop was probably the highlight of the day, Santa Monica.

This place is like Coney Island on steroids. We had a great lunch at a local Vegan Restaurant right on the beach but instead of walking, we used our Bird App to rent a scooter where we both hopped on to take a fun, dangerous, hilarious scooter ride down to the beach. It was pretty epic. Not just the ride, but to watch everyones face as we drove pass them laughing uncontrollably, it was pretty great.

Since we were full, exhausted and close to the hotel, we took a short car ride back to change my shirt, shower up and we wanted to meet up with an old friend of mine who’s an actor in the city. Chris Levine took us with his girlfriend to a cool little spot called The Grove in Los Angeles. It’s a “Downtown Disney” type of feel with shops, restaurants and bars but has an upscale feel. Really cool place to check out if your in the area. He also took us to an iconic diner where we wrapped up our evening.

Even though the night was young, we were beat. Since we needed to wake up early the next day to drive back to Las Vegas were we would fly out to get back home, regretful this was the end of our trip. I’m not sure what I’ll miss more, the sights, people or the convertible Mustang?

We’ve visited a lot of places together but if you ask the wife, I bet she’d agreed this was one of the most memorable and fun experiences we’ve done together. California is expensive but if you do it the right way, you can get a lot done without spending a big chunk of change.
