Spring is prime time for nuptials especially in San Diego. Between the warmer weather and beautiful blooms, it’s easy to see why 21 percent of to-be-weds choose to have a gorgeous spring fling. Planning a San Diego wedding from March through May can reap some financial benefits. You can find some great deals on travel rates during the low seasons in comparison to the peak summer season. While there can be a few setbacks when planning a spring wedding (like competing with prom-goers and spring breakers for transportation or hotel blocks), if you plan accordingly, your wedding day and guests will love San Diego in the spring.
But you must keep in mind during the months of May and June, overcast days occur often, so much so that San Diego locals designate the months as “May Gray” and “June Gloom.” If you plan your wedding in one of the inland communities, which is about 10 miles from the beach cities, by mid-day the sun will be shinning and temperatures will be between 65⁰-72⁰. And when it comes to rain; during the spring months there is less than 1% to have sprinkles. But play it safe, know what weather is forecasted for your wedding day, make sure to give your out-of-town guests whatever wardrobe tips they need to be prepared you do decide to marry in the spring, San Diego can be a great location to consider.
Ranch Events can help you choose the perfect venue for your spring wedding. Let the professionals help you with the designing and coordinating your marriage day; a day you will cherish and always remember. We are waiting for your call.

“Because the US government was not acting on mass shootings, we directly attacked a trait Americans are most known for: their pride in their country. Change the Ref created the Shamecards, a postcard collection designed to demand gun law reform from Congress. What do you think Scully and Mulder would disagree on as parents? A prompt, if you will.
Scully wanted schedules. Meal plans. Calendars. She wanted piano lessons on Thursdays, swim lessons on Mondays, and labeled bins for the Legos and Thomas train cars. She wanted whole grains and bento boxes and clothes from Boden and Hanna Andersson and Tea Collection. Vacations in the Galapagos and the Grand Canyon. She wanted - in her most secret heart - for him to be the star of the soccer or lacrosse teams. Or both.
Mulder wanted the gauche consumerism of Disney World every spring. He wanted drippy ice cream cones and a perpetually muddy dog and troops of sticky neighbor children marauding through the back door so he could say JESUS CHRIST WILLIAM I’M NOT PAYING TO AIR CONDITION THE WHOLE STREET. He imagined burnt pig-anus hot dogs over a campfire, a floor strewn with action figures, snow angels, Chef Boyardee. No chess coach, no deportment classes, those new-fangled sneakers that lit up. He imagined Welch’s grape juice stains on the couch.
***
Scully, luscious and fully fleshed again, with William suckling at her blue-veined breast. Scully like a Renaissance Madonna reimagined by Margaret Atwood.
“My mother sold her wedding dress to pay for Charlie’s football gear,” she says, touching William’s rose petal cheek. “My father made pretty good money for the Navy and all, but four kids so close together…we ate a lot of spaghetti. Lots of hand me downs. Missy shoplifted makeup a whole lot, if my mother ever knew…”
“Malnutrition why you’re so short?” he asks, because he knows she wasn’t actually malnourished.
She scowls. “It was never dirty, my mother would have died first. But just…you know. Heaps of rain boots at the door and school books on the table and hair ribbons and pencil stubs and recorder sheet music and half a cream-cheese-and-jelly sandwich withering on a plate because Bill and Missy were pinching each other…”
Scully trails off, switches the baby to her other breast. Remembers dinners of store-brand fish sticks and creamed corn because one of them had an unexpected pricey field trip.
William gurgles, clutches a fistful of his mother’s silky hair. Blows a raspberry beneath her Delft pottery gaze.
Mulder kisses William’s warm, fragrant head.
Mulder remembers his father, pleasantly loquacious on bourbon, teaching him about shoulder lines and top-stitching at 8. His mother and Samantha in matching ruffled Gunne Saxe dresses, the starched disapproval of the maid when he tracked footprints over the fresh vacuum lines in the carpet.
Chicken a la King, wedge salad, Steak Diane, swigs of his mother’s sidecar…
William hiccups, dribbling milk down his fat cheek. He begins to hiccup more, which makes him laugh at first, and which then makes him cry.
“It was just always loud and chaotic,” Scully says, propping the baby against her shoulder. “Someone was always hurt or in trouble or pulling hair or getting their hair pulled…it was impossible to think or relax. College was such a gift.” She remembers a study- fort she built in the San Diego coat closet.
William belches, then cheerfully vomits down her cleavage.
Scully groans.
Mulder mops her up with tender precision, watches William try to stuff his dinner-roll fist into his mouth.
“It’s been silent at my house for twenty-eight years,” Mulder says.

Ceasefire | 0.8 | Bradley Bradshaw x Reader

Warnings: ex-husband!beausimpson, divorce, age gap (rooster is somewhere between 26-28, reader is 38), power imbalance between instructor and student aviator, swearing, angst, smut, unprotected pinv, arguing
…
When you had read over Bob’s hastily typed note of Bradley’s address, you had failed to consider than number 4c was likely to not be a ground floor apartment. Three floors up, your heels are digging into your feet and you’ve still got the taste of Beau’s tongue in your mouth.
With your jacket abandoned at the wedding, you pad along the hallway of the building and knock politely at the blue wood. Cold breeze, shame, and an entire day spent near an open bar — you’re not in the mood to be playing waiting games. The civility fades from your touch with each bang against the cheaply painted, powder blue front door.
The door to the apartment finally swings open after maybe the twelfth knock.
Bradley’s standing on the other side, his suit jacket and tie long discarded, the sleeves of his white shirt rolled up to the elbows and the top few buttons popped open. Ignoring you clearly wasn’t going to work. Handsome, hurt — gearing up to slam the door in your face again, you need to work quickly. Words pour into your head and spill out again just as quickly, not a single one of them making it past your lips.
He stares at you, nailing the wounded look. You’re so filled with guilt that it’s already pushing up and spilling out, he rolls his eyes as you start to pour with apologies.
“What do you want, Hyde?” He asks dully, keeping his body between the opening in the door, making it painfully clear that he wants you nowhere near him.
“I’m so sorry that you saw that, Bradley — I didn’t mean-“
He scoffs and pushes at the door, leaving it to swing shut as he turns away. You catch it before it slams in your face, pushing yourself inside and shutting it behind you.
You’re standing now in his living room. It’s a sparsely decorated space, a grey L-Shaped couch in the corner, navy and white area rug in the middle, a big tv with a gaming console plugged into it.
“Rooster, let me explain, please.” You sigh, taking a step towards him. He’s hurt. He takes a quick step back and holds a hand out towards you, keeping you at arm’s length.
“Are you still in love with him?”
It’s a loaded question, and you think that you’ve got the answer to it instantly. He knows what you’re going to say, but after what he saw tonight, he doesn’t want the first answer that springs to your mind. The look in his eyes makes you pause. You sigh softly.
“I’ll always love the memories that we have, the family that we created,” You answer gently, your tone sincere. Rooster stares at you. “But I don’t love him. He doesn’t make me happy, I’ll never be happy with him.”
You take a step towards him and this time he doesn’t move. You rest your hands on his hips, smoothing your fingers along the neat fabric of his white button up, lifting your gaze to look him in the eye. You both know that there’s still a gaping question, waiting for an answer. Does Rooster make you happy?
You trail your fingers up, along his forearm and curl them gently around his bicep, pulling yourself slightly closer to him.
Rooster scoffs, brushing you off of him, “But you’ll let him kiss you in front of everyone when I’m not even allowed to stop by your office anymore.”
“I didn’t let him do anything! — He was drunk and he just did it, Bradley. What was I supposed to do?”
“That’s not how it looked to me.” Bradley answers back, shaking his head. He steps into your space, “You were all over him all night. Look, Hyde, you’ve got kids with this guy — if I’m in the way, if there’s even a chance that the two of you are going to get back together, say it now.”
“How many times do I have to tell you that it’s over between him and I?” You groan, leaning your head back and sighing.
“After he just stuck his tongue down your throat in front of me, you might have to say it again.” He snaps back, cheeks reddening, brown eyes darkening. He hasn’t ever talked back to you like this.
You groan and and follow him forwards again, “Rooster, god fucking damnit — I’m divorcing him, I left him—“
“You’ve been divorcing him since I met you and he’s still wearing his fucking wedding ring!” Rooster bites back.
“He wasn’t — he wasn’t wearing it today.” You answer quietly, brows scrunching together. You hadn’t realised that Rooster had taken notice of that before now. He has, every single time he has seen your husband on base for the entirety of the summer, his eyes have always been drawn down to the gold band on Beau’s finger.
“Fucking Christ, you know what I meant.” Rooster mutters, shaking his head. He turns his gaze back towards you, cold. Your chest aches, knowing that if you reach for him again, he’ll just brush you off. He takes his time to read your expression. It’s clear that you’re feeling guilty, but he knows what he saw today, and it wasn’t two people who don’t love each other.
There’s a long pause. You know that there’s nothing you can say that will calm him down, he’s trying not to say something out of line. Still, after fifteen years of marriage to a man that can count the times he has smiled in the past year on one hand, you’ll be fine.
“I don’t know why you even came here.” He tells you, his voice low and careless. “You should go.”
Unfazed, you tilt your head and squint. Rooster stands firm opposite you.
“So, you’re calling the shots now? — The decision’s all yours?” You challenge, scrunching your brows at him. After the evening you’ve had with Beau, you’re tired of men and their egos, and the blame landing on you every time.
“Yeah, I am.” Rooster answers. “Let yourself out.”
Your mouth hangs open as he turns away from you and grabs his open beer from the end table before heading down the hallway. He makes it to his bedroom and still hasn’t heard the front door slam. He groans as he swings the door open.
The sound of your heels on the hallway floor ring through the apartment. It’s a small space, Javy’s room is opposite Bradley’s and Jake’s is on the other side of the living room.
“Go away, Hyde.” Rooster mumbles, taking a long drink from his beer and setting it down on his dresser.
“No, you listen to me—“
He scoffs, turning to face you, standing in his doorway and scowling at him like he has done something wrong.
“I’m done fucking listening to you!” He snaps. A few steps in your direction, the vein in his neck struggling against the white of his collar. You stand still, turning your gaze towards the ground just so you don’t have to see how much tonight hurt him. “Do I mean anything to you, Hyde? — Do you even give a fuck—“
“Oh my god, can we not do this now?” You groan, pinching the bridge of your nose. He chuckles dryly and takes another drink, then shakes his head.
“My thoughts exactly, I don’t have anything to say to you right now, so you should just leave.” He mutters, leaning back against the dresser and folding his arms over his chest. His muscles strain against the white of his shirt, hair messed with loose curls falling down onto his forehead.
The anger slips for a moment and you see just how hurt he is, all of the hurt that he’s holding in those pretty brown eyes.
“Can you at least let me explain?” You bite back, crossing the room and pointing your finger into his stupid, muscled chest.
A muscle in his jaw ticks. He swallows softly and leans back, folding his arms over his chest. An entire summer of trying to convince you that he’s worth the risk, and you crushing it all in the space of one evening. Like you weren’t just laying in his arms this morning, tracing your fingers over each of the freckles on his arms.
Furious is an understatement. His face flushes, throat tightening as he tries to keep his words to himself. Rooster had been wondering this whole time what you had possibly had in common with someone as cold as Cyclone. Now, after a summer of letting him think he had a chance, he gets it.
“No. You should go.” He stands firm, squaring his shoulders and glancing down at your finger still pressed into the fabric of his shirt. Your features tighten.
“Rooster, for god’s sake, it was just—“
He leans forwards and grabs the back of your neck, tugging you harshly forwards and pressing his lips to yours. One hand curling harshly into your hair, he tugs at your roots, taking advantage of the small whimper you let out after.
Lips parted, he slips his tongue into your mouth and grabs at your hip with his other hand. He presses harder into you, kissing at you mouth with a blind passion, your teeth knocking into his as you bump into the foot of his bed.
“Have you thought about doing what you’re told for once in your damn life?” He mumbles against your mouth, curling his hand tighter into your roots. You moan softly into him, pain and pleasure, him and only him. You let him have that one.
His hand comes up, catching hold of your jaw and tilting your neck back, angling your head exactly where he wants it as he drops his mouth down to suck at your throat. Almost painfully hard, leaving purple marks, covering them with his teeth and then kissing softly at the pressure points.
Your fingers curl into the fabric of his white shirt, creasing it under your grip as you tug it free from his belt. Rooster curls his fingers tighter around your jaw, cupping your throat in his hand as he sucks kisses against your neck.
Dizzied by his hold on you, his mouth against your skin, you fumble with his buttons, fingers trembling as you try to work them open. As his lips work along your throat eagerly, teeth doing maybe even more work than his lips, his hands are on your chest again.
Knees weakening, you grab onto his shoulders for leverage as he kneads your breasts under his palms, kissing feverishly along your neck. You stumble slightly, finally getting his shirt open. A longing sound slips your lip as you push the fabric back off of his shoulders, almost a groan, not quite a whimper. He pulls back just slightly, shrugging the material down his arms and discarding it onto his floor.
Rooster catches your wrist and turns you quickly away from him, grabbing the zipper at the back of your dress and tugging it down harshly. There’s a faint sound of something ripping, but that’s truly the last thing on your mind when his mouth is attached to your throat and he’s tearing you out of your clothes like a man possessed.
“Rooster!” You gasp, stumbling slightly as he spins you to face him again, letting your dress fall around your ankles.
“You want me to stop?” He breathes out, almost impatient as his hands curl around your hips. You stare at him, silent, blinking and trying to process what is happening in front of you. Slowly, your head shakes from left to right. Rooster nods his head hurriedly, going for his belt. He makes easy work of the buckle, tugging it out of the loops, dragging his zipper down and stepping out of the dress pants, leaving him in black boxers.
Your mouth goes dry, lips parted, eyes widening as he tucks an arm around your waist and pushes forwards, pressing his knee into the mattress and lowering you down onto his bed. He pins your body to the mattress with his, squeezing your hips under his palms.
He lowers his head and kisses at your chest, holding you close with one hand as the other cups your breast. You let your head lull back. You should probably be embarrassed at how easily he coaxes a moan from your lips. He nips at your skin, making his way downwards, glancing up at you with a smirk on his lips as you gasp.
Most of the time, Rooster is careful and tentative with you. Taking his time, taking care of you in every way that he can. Neither one of you is in the mood for that today. You’re his — he wants you to be all his, just his, and he needs nothing more than to let him know that’s exactly what you are.
You gasp again as he grabs your hips and pulls you under him with ease. He plants his forearm beside your head, nudges your underwear to the side, and guides his cock between your legs. You kiss his lips needily, quickly remembering the heavy heels on your feet. You push yourself onto your elbows, reaching for the strap around your left ankle, “Oh, wait—“
“Leave ‘em on.” Rooster pushes you back down, catching the back of your knee and hiking it up around his waist, watching breathlessly as he guides the tip of his cock between your folds. You whine, shifting desperately under him.
Your breath catches in your throat as you take him. You whimper softly, adjusting to the hot, thick stretch of him. He kisses your jaw lazily, fucking into you in short, soft thrusts until he’s buried into you completely.
Rooster barely waits a second before his hands are on your hips, holding you in place as he fucks into you. That gold cross necklace he wears dangles over his pronounced collarbones as he grunts desperately at the feeling of your walls around him.
Your hand trails up his neck, curling into his hair, tugging hard as he rocks harshly forwards. His fingers press into your hips, holding you still so that he can keep up his pace. Filling you completely and then dragging back, rocking you towards your high, making your head spin.
He lets go of one side of your hips, moving it down between your bodies. His thumb presses harsh circles on your clit making you tighten your grip in his hair. Rooster grunts out, moaning against your collarbone. You whine from the added stimulation, squeezing your eyes shut, pressing your heel into the small of his back.
Head falling back against his checkered sheets, your scrape your nails against the nape of his neck, marking up his tanned skin. Rooster grabs your hips and tugs hard, pressing your thighs back so that he can angle himself deeper. He sinks back in slowly, watching your lips part into a desperate, panting ‘o’ shape.
This angle is deeper, but not painful, it just means that the tip of his cock grazes your g-spot each time he’s pulling back.
“Fuck!” You cry out, stomach curling into knots as he drives himself into you. He presses his mouth eagerly against your open mouth, caressing his tongue against yours. Rooster’s palm slides around to your ass, smacking your skin, snapping his hips forwards harder and harder.
Your nails dig into the backs of his biceps, clinging to him, unable to do anything other than cry out his callsign and take it — and you couldn’t be more content with where the events of tonight have led you.
“I’m gonna cum, Rooster — ungh, Rooster, fuck!”
Javy’s walking ahead, stumbling forwards, barely stopping himself from tumbling head first onto the entryway carpet. Jake swings the door shut behind him, brows furrowing slightly as the two of them realise what’s happening down the hall. The rhythmic sound of Rooster’s headboard slamming into the wall, overwhelmed by the incoherent babbling of someone getting their brains fucked out is a pretty good indicator.
Rooster pulls out all together and flips you onto your front, filling you again. He nods hurriedly as your walls squeeze around his cock, nudging you forwards and covering your body with his.
“Holy fuck.” You breathe, cheek pressing hard into the mattress as he bottoms out again and again, pounding into you. His hips stutter slightly as you clench around him again. Still, fighting to keep his head on straight, his hand reaches around your middle to play with your clit, rubbing in tight fast circles.
You moan out, curling your hands tight into his sheets as you feel your orgasm washing over you. Dark spots appear in your vision when your eyes are open and white ones blink behind your closed lids, the sound of his skin hitting yours just as loud as your moans for him. You ride out your high, so breathless that your head is spinning, the sound of his desperate groans from behind you.
His thrusts falter, growing sloppier with each movement, groans growing strained as his fingers press hard into your skin. Your eyes roll back, your walls fluttering around him with each thrust. Rooster just about remembers to pull out, knuckles whitening around your hips as he slips out of you.
Rooster’s heart thuds in his chest, adrenaline pumping through his veins as he tries to catch his breath. You exhale hard, resting your forehead against the sheets, whining softly.
He runs a hand through his curls, standing up and grabbing the box of tissues from his dresser. He sits down on the edge of his bed, tucking an arm around you and pulling you into his lap. You rest your head against his broad shoulder as you let him clean the two of you up.
“Listen, Rooster, I-“
Rooster shakes his head as he tosses the tissues into his trash can, pressing his lips to your shoulder as he moves on to getting you out of your heels. He tosses them into the same pile as your clothes. “I don’t want to talk about it anymore, Hyde.”
You nod softly, letting him wrap you in his arms. Still naked, tucked under the checkered duvet, his chest pressed to your back, you fall asleep in his bed. Falling asleep with him is the easy part. It’s waking up with him, knowing how last night went, that’s the hard part.
Afraid of the conversation that’ll come once he’s awake, you lie as still as you can for as long as possible. Maybe forty minutes, just watching the sun rise from under the blind on his window. He groans softly against the curve of your neck, pressing himself forwards and squeezing his arms tighter around you.
You wriggle just a little, letting him know that you’re awake. He loosens his arms. You turn around, pressing a kiss to the scar on his cheek. He sighs softly, pulling back and pressing the base of his palm into his eye socket, rubbing the tiredness away.
“I’m so sorry about last night,” You murmur softly, tracing your fingertips over his bicep, voice muffled slightly from where you’re tucked against his chest. “I’m going to fix this.”
Rooster presses his lips tenderly to the top of your head, brushing his thumb up and down over the small of your back. He exhales slowly and nods his head. “Okay.”
Your heart aches, curling your fingers around his bicep as you pull back to look him in the eye. “I mean it, I don’t want to lose you.”
His lips quirk softly at the edges, eyes scanning over your features like he’s looking for a sign that you mean this. That you really mean it. Rooster leans forwards, kissing you slowly, lazily, fingers pressing into your back as his naked chest presses into yours.
“I love you,” He murmurs, pulling back and kissing the corner of your lips, brown eyes meeting yours as he leans back again. You know this, you’ve known this for going on a week now — it’s clear in the way he looks at you. Yet, it’s hard not to tense up when you’re hearing it for the first time. “And I’m okay with waiting for you to feel the same, but if there’s any chance at all that you and him—“
As much as it makes your muscles freeze up so badly that it’s a pain consistent with having just worked out, you’ve got a feeling that you’ll get used to hearing him say that. There are definitely worse things in this world than letting someone love you like he does. You can handle this. In fact, you want it.
You shake your head, hooking your leg over his hip and shifting closer. He relaxes into you, closing his eyes just briefly as your fingers smooth over his cheek, your lips grazing his tenderly.
“Just you,” You promise, brushing his curls back off of his forehead, kissing him again. Rooster slides his arms around you, humming contentedly as he pulls you closer, guiding your thigh up higher around his waist. “I want you.”
Rooster kisses you, lips moving lazily against yours as his hands grip your waist. You hum against his mouth, wrapping your arms around his shoulders, pulling yourself impossibly closer to him. He grinds his hips forwards, brushing himself up against your core.
“I want you.” You say again, lips grazing his ear. His arms constrict around your middle, pulling you tight against him as he noses at your jaw, pressing gentle kisses to your neck.
He presses forwards, turning you onto your back so that he can slip between your legs. This time is softer than last night, you want him and you’ve got him — all of his attention, his entire heart. He’s trusting you again. Making sure to be gentle after last night’s pace, you’re on cloud nine, content in your decision by the time you’re done.
Even realising that the zipper on your dress is busted and now gapes open at the back doesn’t dampen your mood.
“Yeah, no — Jake and Javy would’ve come in late, they won’t be up yet.” Rooster promises as he secures the safety pin at the back of your dress, pressing his lips to your shoulder. “This isn’t working… um… here.”
He grabs the grey zip up hoodie from the back of his closet door and passes it into your hands, turning around to find a shirt for himself. You slip it over your shoulders, stepping around him to smooth out your hair in the mirror.
“You ready?” Rooster checks, as he slips a white crew neck over his head.
You make the mistake of stepping out first. Your second mistake is walking forwards, confident that he was right about his roommates sleeping because of the silence from the front of the apartment. The second that you round the corner, you realise your mistake.
Coyote’s got the freezer door open, standing halfway in it as he searches for something to cure his raging hangover. Jake, having given in to the feelings of nausea a while ago, is sitting at the counter with a glass of ice cold water, staring right at you.
Not anticipating your sudden stop, Rooster bumps into your back and knocks you forwards. Now you’re both standing at the edge of the hall, Rooster’s chest pressed into your back, frozen.
“Hey Rooster, did you take the last — holy shit.” Coyote’s eyes widen, jaw hanging open as he registers who is standing in front of him. Jake sets his glass down on the counter and tilts his head slightly, taking time to now understand the big picture.
An entire summer of sneaking around, wondering why the hell Rooster was so adamant on keeping it a secret. It all suddenly makes sense.
“Boys.” You greet sheepishly, trying not to stare too much at their stunned faces. You can practically feel the amusement radiating off of Rooster as he stands behind you.
“Ma’am.” Jake nods back, whilst Javy still remains too stunned to speak behind him. Rooster taps your waist.
“Anyway, we should get going.” Rooster decides, nudging you forwards. Jake’s eyes trail the two of you, an amused smirk toying at his lips as you’re ushered out of their apartment. The door swings shut and you turn quickly, smacking his chest.
This is going to make the remaining two weeks of class significantly more interesting.

The Red Team Blues tour
In just a few days, my next novel, Red Team Blues, will be released in all English territories. It’s an “anti-finance finance thriller” — my most commercial novel to date, about a 67-year-old high-tech forensic accountant fighting for his life as he unwinds a cryptocurrency heist:
https://us.macmillan.com/books/9781250865847/redteamblues
If you’d like an essay-formatted version of this post to read or share, here’s a link to it on pluralistic.net, my surveillance-free, ad-free, tracker-free blog:
https://pluralistic.net/2023/04/19/whats-wrong-with-iowa/#red-team-blues-tour
My publishers are sending me around the world on a tour of the US, Canada, and the UK, with a bonus stop in Berlin! When I do book tours, each stop is a mix of a reading, a little background talk about the book, and then a kind of AMA with the audience. They’re incredibly fun and rewarding, and over the decades I’ve been doing them, I’ve had some of the most memorable and important interactions of my life. What’s more, these tours are a great way to support indie booksellers and get my readers acquainted with the stores who really support my work, creating lifelong relationships between bookstores and the communities they serve.
I hope you’ll come out to see me on this trip! What’s more: if you don’t see your city on the list below, don’t despair: I’ve got three more books coming out in the next 12 months and I’m going on the road with all of them, so there’s a good chance I’ll see you in the future even if I miss you this time around.

Ahhhh the wedding is here!! 🥳
"The best part about our wedding venue is that it's free," you whispered. "The worst part is that we had to clean it ourselves." "But on Saturday, we'll be married. So it's worth it."
100% worth it
You were expecting his stomach to start growling at any moment, and you were prepared to make some sandwiches when necessary.
She truly is ready to be Bradley’s wife
In a shocking turn of events, Marty and Ruby got married over spring break in Las Vegas after going on just six dates. Actually, when you considered that they probably fell in love the day they met, it wasn't that shocking at all.
Iconic hahah I love that for they! 👏🏻
"Marty was like a wizard with that scrub brush today. I don't think there's anything he can't do," Bradley said, mirroring your yawn with one of his own.
Marty is just the MVP
Your fingers dragged through his wavy hair before tracing the scars on his cheek. "If I change my name." A little pout appeared on his lips, and you leaned down to kiss it away.
He wants her to have his name, but not in an owning way but rather in a "I really wanna share a name together" thing
He wasn't exactly nervous about the wedding, but he was a little anxious. He wanted to get married and settle into things before your school year started. And before he left again for deployment. You always seemed to have more patience for his career than he did, but he wanted to be selfish and have some time at home while he was still a newlywed. And that didn't even account for the upcoming week in Paris.
I feel like he is antsy tk get married
He was happy. So fucking happy. And that was the bottom line. He was too busy being happy to think about his scars or worry about reading his wedding vows from a piece of paper. He fell in love with you through notes, emails and letters, but today he was going off script. "I am happy, Edith. Happier than I ever expected to be."
🥹🥹🥹
She planted her hands on her hips in her cute, green dress. "This is going to be the perfect wedding. A quick ceremony followed by spaghetti and meatballs catered from the best restaurant in San Diego. This is how everyone should get married."
This is so them and absolutely perfect
"I told Marty the ceremony needs to be quick, because Bradley's stomach will growl the whole time otherwise. I don't like it when he has to go too long without eating," you murmured, looking down at the fabric that cascaded along your new shoes.
Valid concern hahah
"Nothing," she whispered, shaking her head and sniffing. "It's just that you get him. You understand him." She took a deep breath and added, "Bradley seems big and boisterous, but he's actually really sensitive. And he needs someone to look after him and make sure he eats enough. That's the kind of shit he needs. Not someone who is always mad at him for having feelings. He needs you, because you love him back as much as he loves you." Then you heard the sound of a piano playing in the distance and knew you needed to start walking toward the playground. "Take care of him. And let him take care of you," Natasha said.

"Oh no!" Violet gasped. "You're supposed to do that at the end!" Bradley laughed against your lips, and you turned your head to really take a good look at all the kids. They were all there with parents, some of whom had been at Career Day. And they were dressed up and looked adorable. You were going to miss them next year when they were in fifth grade. "I promise we'll do it again at the end," Bradley laughed, his voice a deep rumble against your palm.
Bradley will kiss her however often the kiddos want (+ some more)
"Well, regardless, you told me to keep this quick," Marty said. You could already smell the spaghetti and knew for sure Bradley was hungry. "So quick it shall be." He cleared his throat and said, "I'm pretty sure I knew Lieutenant Bradshaw was in love before he knew it himself. I've overlapped with him on several deployments over the past eight years, and he always seemed a little bit lonely." You laced your fingers with Bradley's and leaned against his shoulder as Marty continued. "Until last year when he asked for my permission to take some photos and videos of me working on an engine rebuild. I told him I didn't mind, and then he divulged that it was for a fourth grade class back in California. My immediate assumption was that he was dating a teacher, but he told me he was just writing to some new pen pals. By the end of that long deployment, he told me he'd fallen for their teacher and couldn't wait to meet her."
Marty is the perfect person to officiate them, he fits like a puzzle piece in their story
"We helped though," called Jayden, and you started laughing. "That's also very true," Bradley confirmed. "Couldn't have pulled this off without all eighteen of you."
Yes 100%!! They should claim their glory
You laughed when he kissed your forehead again. "I was falling in love with you, too. But imagine my surprise when your deployment was ending and you asked me out. And then you made my students and I a priority the very first day you were back. And you've made me a priority ever since. Bradley, the butterflies don't stop, and I don't want them to." He nodded. "I want you to have them forever. I promise I'll try to make that happen." "I know you will," you whispered. "And I promise to dispose of all the spiders for you." He barked out a laugh. "And I will always say your name just to watch you melt a little bit. And I promise to talk aviation to you and always make sure you eat and always say I love you."
🥹🥹🥹
"I know, Gorgeous. It overwhelms me, too. You already have my heart. You own it. Everything I have to offer is yours. I just ask for three things in return." You pressed your lips together to keep from sobbing. "First, I'm so serious about the spiders, okay? If you see one, don't even tell me about it, just make it go away, alright?" You nodded and laughed through your tears. "Second, I need you onboard with movie nights on the little couch forever. I like that you end up laying on me because there's not enough room. I like staying in for the night with you." Bradley smiled and leaned a little closer. "Number three. I just need you to talk to me. However you can. Let me hear your voice. Email me. Text me or call me. Write me a letter or fill up a journal. Anything. All of it. I just need you to talk to me no matter where I am. I'm pretty sure that will get me through anything."
I am melting 🥹🥰🫠
You could hear your former fourth graders all cheering, and then Marty said, "I guess as far as I'm concerned, you're married."
Haha so random as a closing, I love it 😂
You were wrapped up in Bradley's warm grasp as he kissed you until Natasha had to say, "There are children present!" When he finally pulled away, you watched his eyes grow wide.
Whoops someone got a little carried away 🤭
"We forgot the wedding bands." He dug around in his pocket and pulled them out, slipping yours into place right away. "I want mine on, too. Been looking forward to wearing it for weeks."
He gas been waiting to wear that ring
He held out the pastry for you to nibble on as he said, "Paris isn't just the city of love and the city of sex. It's also the city of food."
Lmao Bradley, I have a feeling that this is gonna be the tagine for every destination that they gonna travel together 🤔😅
"We can come back tomorrow!" you said with a laugh. "We're in Paris for three more days, Bradley." "I love the way you think, Baby," he replied with a nod. "We'll take a bunch back now, and then we'll come back tomorrow."
I love Bradley's love for food
I'm sad that's it's over but I'm excited for the epilog 🤗

That summer...
"The best part about our wedding venue is that it's free," you whispered. "The worst part is that we had to clean it ourselves."
"Agreed," Bradley replied with a groan.
You were exhausted, both physically and mentally, and now you were sprawled out mostly on top of Bradley on the living room couch which was too small even for him alone. His big hand was heavy where it rested on your back, and his voice was a deep rumble in his chest.
"But on Saturday, we'll be married. So it's worth it."
His words warmed you as you snuggled a little closer. Both of you could use a shower after the day you had, but you didn't even make it that far yet. As soon as you walked inside, this is where you ended up. You were expecting his stomach to start growling at any moment, and you were prepared to make some sandwiches when necessary.
"It was nice of Nat, Marty and Ruby to help us get things ready," you told him with a yawn.
In a shocking turn of events, Marty and Ruby got married over spring break in Las Vegas after going on just six dates. Actually, when you considered that they probably fell in love the day they met, it wasn't that shocking at all. People told you all the time they were surprised you were marrying Bradley a year after you blindly mailed a box to an unknown Naval aviator, but to you, it all felt exactly right.
"Marty was like a wizard with that scrub brush today. I don't think there's anything he can't do," Bradley said, mirroring your yawn with one of his own. "Are all of your kiddos coming on Saturday?"
"Mmm... most of them, yeah. And don't forget, you have to drive Edith up with you."
"I won't forget. She's a pretty integral part to our day, Gorgeous," he muttered, and sure enough his stomach began to rumble. "Damn, I was hoping I'd make it to the shower with you first." He gave your rear end a squeeze. "I haven't seen you naked since this morning."
You groaned and started to ease your body away from him and stood. "You'll see plenty of that when we're in Paris."
"I better," he replied, one eyebrow cocked as he examined you in your filthy old jeans and one of his ratty undershirts. "You look damn good, Mrs. Bradshaw. You'll need a new name tag for your classroom door when school starts in August."
Your fingers dragged through his wavy hair before tracing the scars on his cheek. "If I change my name." A little pout appeared on his lips, and you leaned down to kiss it away. "Come on and have a sandwich before we get cleaned up, Handsome."
-------------------------------
Bradley had much less responsibility on Saturday than you did. He had to put on his dress whites, fix his hair, and drive Edith up to Mira Mesa with him. You on the other hand left with Natasha first thing in the morning after demanding Bradley not even look at you. Apparently that was bad luck, but he'd already been watching you sleep peacefully when he woke around dawn before falling asleep again.
While he was in the bathroom, running his fingers through his damp hair, Bradley examined his freshly shaven cheeks. Sometimes he forgot about his facial scars. You always looked at him like he was flawless, and now it rarely occurred to him to be overly self conscious about it. But they were there, and you had kissed all over them last night before bed while you teased him about what you wrote for your wedding vows.
He didn't bother to write his down. What would be the point in that? He could hardly ever shut up about how much he loved you, so he would just say what was on his mind when the time came. The ceremony was going to be quick anyway since Marty was officiating. Bradley could tell the reserved, older man only agreed to do it for the sake of friendship, and you told him he could keep it very short.
As he pulled his white uniform on, Bradley smiled, knowing he'd have you back in bed this evening before leaving insanely early to go to the airport in the morning. When be was all set, he grabbed the wedding bands from the dresser, and headed over to get Edith.
She was wearing a purple dress and had her sheet music with her, and Bradley realized that other than Nat, she was the closest thing to a family member that he would have with him today. "Thanks for coming up to Mira Mesa, Edith," he said, opening the passenger door of his Bronco for her.
She looked delighted. "It's my pleasure. I'm just so pleased you asked me to be there. And you look so handsome, Bradley. And very happy."
------------------------------
"God, you look like a dream," Natasha gushed, fluffing out the bottom of your simple wedding dress before adjusting the straps along your shoulders. "Your makeup is beautiful, and your hair is perfect. Bradley is going to piss his pants when he sees you."
"Hopefully not while he's in his dress whites," you replied, making her crack up while she took a step back to inspect you one last time.
She planted her hands on her hips in her cute, green dress. "This is going to be the perfect wedding. A quick ceremony followed by spaghetti and meatballs catered from the best restaurant in San Diego. This is how everyone should get married."
"I told Marty the ceremony needs to be quick, because Bradley's stomach will growl the whole time otherwise. I don't like it when he has to go too long without eating," you murmured, looking down at the fabric that cascaded along your new shoes. When you looked up again, Natasha was leaning with one shoulder against the brick exterior of your elementary school and wiping tears from her eyes. "What's wrong?"
He needs you, because you love him back as much as he loves you."
"Natasha," you gasped, reaching for her as tears stung your eyes. She had known Bradley for so many years, and her words made your heart swell with even more happiness. "I do love him. So much," you whispered as she squeezed you tight.
Then you heard the sound of a piano playing in the distance and knew you needed to start walking toward the playground. "Take care of him. And let him take care of you," Natasha said.
She wiped her tears on her sleeve as she gently guided you across the asphalt and handed you a bouquet of flowers. Your wedding vows were folded up into a paper airplane amongst the blooms that came from the florist Bradley used for your surprise bouquet when he was last deployed. Your heart beat a little faster as Natasha headed away from you and turned at the corner of the building, and then it was your turn to start walking.
The first thing you saw was the parking lot where Bradley's Bronco sat next to the Salvatore's catering van. Then the small, outdoor lunch pavilion came into view, which Ruby spent the morning decorating with fresh flowers, paper airplanes, and the fanciest disposable tableware you could find. Then you saw all of the kids from your class last year, and you smiled as they all waved and shouted your name.
But when you finally saw the playground equipment, Bradley was standing there in his dress whites surrounded by his friends and your friends and Maverick and Ruby. And his smile was so bright as you ran to him while Edith played the piano in the auditorium with all the windows open. It was a medley of love songs, but none of them compared to the love you felt when you were in Bradley's arms.
"Hey, Gorgeous," he whispered, scooping you up when you reached him, crushing the flowers between your body and his. "You look so pretty."
His dress whites were a bit scratchy against your skin, and this was the only time you'd seen him wearing them other than that one night last month that turned into some role playing after he tried them on. He always took your breath away. Since the first moment he wrote back to your letter, you just wanted more of him. You couldn't help but kiss him.
"Oh no!" Violet gasped. "You're supposed to do that at the end!"
Bradley laughed against your lips, and you turned your head to really take a good look at all the kids. They were all there with parents, some of whom had been at Career Day. And they were dressed up and looked adorable. You were going to miss them next year when they were in fifth grade.
"I promise we'll do it again at the end," Bradley laughed, his voice a deep rumble against your palm.
Then the piano music came to a stop, and Edith came shuffling outside as Marty introduced himself to everyone.
"I'm sure the kids all remember you, Marty," you assured him. "You were the coolest adult at Career Day."
"Hey," Bradley complained as he tried to straighten out your flowers.
"I meant second coolest adult at Career Day," you amended, and now both Marty and Bradley were smiling.
"That's the absolute truth," Bradley murmured, his lips pressed to your forehead.
"We helped though," called Jayden, and you started laughing.
"That's also very true," Bradley confirmed. "Couldn't have pulled this off without all eighteen of you."
Marty shrugged. "That's pretty much all I have to say. It's so obvious that the two of you are made for each other. And I'm happy my friend isn't lonely anymore. Oh, and thanks for introducing me to Ruby." He blushed as he looked at his wife who then blew him a kiss. "Uh, so you can probably say some vows if you want to."
"Right," you agreed, handing your flowers to Bradley as you pulled the paper airplane from between two roses.
"Nice touch," he told you as you unfolded it, and he was all smiles when you looked up into his brown eyes.
"I learned from the best." You smoothed the page out in your hands. Your handwriting looked a little blurry as you realized there were tears in your eyes. After you read the few words you'd written from your heart, Bradley would do the same. And then you'd be married. You were almost dizzy with anticipation as you grinned up at him in his white hat which was slightly crooked now. "Bradley. You give me these butterflies in my tummy. All the time. From the very start. At first, I thought it was just a novelty. An extremely attractive man was taking time out of his day to humor me and my students? Butterflies galore." Bradley ducked his head and blushed, and when you reached up to touch his name tag, he met your gaze again. "But then I noticed a pattern. I felt them anytime I shamelessly thought about you. Whenever I reread your letters. When I refreshed my inbox hoping for a little note. When a box arrived for my class. Butterflies."
"Gorgeous," he whispered, cheeks still pink. "Baby, I was falling in love with you."
You laughed when he kissed your forehead again. "I was falling in love with you, too. But imagine my surprise when your deployment was ending and you asked me out. And then you made my students and I a priority the very first day you were back. And you've made me a priority ever since. Bradley, the butterflies don't stop, and I don't want them to."
He nodded. "I want you to have them forever. I promise I'll try to make that happen."
"I know you will," you whispered. "And I promise to dispose of all the spiders for you." He barked out a laugh. "And I will always say your name just to watch you melt a little bit. And I promise to talk aviation to you and always make sure you eat and always say I love you."
"Well, shit," he grunted, then his eyes went wide as he glanced at the kids and back to your face. "I mean, shoot. All of that sounds like everything I want." He cleared his throat, and you took your flowers back from his big hand. "I didn't actually write my vows down, because they are simple. They are never going to change. Sure, we got to know each other by writing and typing out our thoughts and feelings. And yeah, I still love getting a notification on my phone and reading what you sent to me. But nothing compares to hearing your voice. Nothing compares to how good I feel when I can tell you how much I love you in person."
"Bradley," you whispered, eyes and nose burning with unshed tears.
I like staying in for the night with you."
"It's my favorite," you whispered. "Let's do it forever. What's number three?"
Bradley smiled and leaned a little closer. "Number three. I just need you to talk to me. However you can. Let me hear your voice. Email me. Text me or call me. Write me a letter or fill up a journal. Anything. All of it. I just need you to talk to me no matter where I am. I'm pretty sure that will get me through anything."
You were nodding in agreement as you thrust your bouquet at Marty and threw your arms around Bradley's neck. When your lips met his, you felt the butterflies. "I can do that," you promised before he kissed you harder.
You could hear your former fourth graders all cheering, and then Marty said, "I guess as far as I'm concerned, you're married."
You were wrapped up in Bradley's warm grasp as he kissed you until Natasha had to say, "There are children present!" When he finally pulled away, you watched his eyes grow wide.
"We forgot the wedding bands." He dug around in his pocket and pulled them out, slipping yours into place right away. "I want mine on, too. Been looking forward to wearing it for weeks."
"I know you have," you told him, lingering on the feel of his rough hand against yours as you slide it on. "It looks good on you. Now, I think it's time for you to have some spaghetti."
---------------------------------
Bradley moaned as he bit into a chocolate pastry that melted in his mouth. It was buttery and delicious, and about to be topped off by the cup of coffee in front of him. "I was wrong," he grunted.
You looked at him across the cafe table, tucked under the awning and out of the rain that landed on the cobblestone street ten feet away. "Wrong about what?" you asked, brow creased in concern.
He held out the pastry for you to nibble on as he said, "Paris isn't just the city of love and the city of sex. It's also the city of food."
You laughed and covered your mouth as you chewed. "You've had plenty of all three since we got here, Bradley."
"I sure have," he agreed, thinking about all the frilly French lingerie inside the shopping bag at your feet. "And I would really like to have some more of each."
"And here I was concerned you'd miss Thai dinners on the beach and the food at Salvatore's."
"Oh! I should talk to them about putting chocolate pastries on their menu."
"You would bug to go there every day."
"Nah," he said, taking a sip of the best coffee he'd ever had. "Not every day. Nothing beats hanging out on our couch. Now, how many of these should we take back to the hotel?" he asked, holding up the last bit of the snack before popping it into his mouth. He moaned as it melted away on his tongue. "I'm just going to go inside and have them pack up whatever they have left."
"We can come back tomorrow!" you said with a laugh. "We're in Paris for three more days, Bradley."
"I love the way you think, Baby," he replied with a nod. "We'll take a bunch back now, and then we'll come back tomorrow."
When you and he headed out into the rain, he kept you tucked against his side along with the box of pastries and the bag of lingerie while he held the umbrella.
"Looks like there's nothing much to do for the rest of the afternoon," you said casually. "Seems like a pretty good time for you to have more love and sex and food."
"Let's go, Mrs. Bradshaw. I think you have some things to try on for me."Thirty minutes later, all the lingerie you tried on was already removed again, but only after he'd taken some pictures. And now you and he were doing the same thing you'd done at least once per day since you checked into the hotel room which overlooked the Champs-Élysées and the Eiffel Tower beyond.
"Oh god," you moaned, on your hands and knees, naked on the bed. Bradley had his hands on your hips, holding you still so you could enjoy the view of the rainy city while he fucked you from behind. "It's so pretty here," you whined.
"Look at me, Baby," he coaxed, running his left hand complete with wedding band up along your back. He stroked your neck as you turned your head to show him your beautiful face and fucked out expression over your shoulder. "It's Gorgeous."
------------------------------
He's such a dream. And he's living his best life! Please stay tuned for a poll and then the epilogue which will complete this series! Thanks for reading! And thank you @beyondthesefourwalls

Wedding Week Adventures - Soul Forge Podcast 322
New Post has been published on https://esonetwork.com/wedding-week-adventures/
Wedding Week Adventures - Soul Forge Podcast 322
Wedding Week Adventures or our wedding in Las Vegas and our honeymoon in California.
Leah and Shawn flew to Las Vegas to get married. After spending a few days in Sin City, they drove to Cathedral City, California. This episode of the Soul Forge is a day by day recap of their adventures.
May 2nd and 3rd: The first day was a travel day. Major delays were the main topic of conversation. Mechanical problems caused a 7 hour delay in travel. The second day was much better. The couple got their marriage license. The line was huge. The heat in Nevada is very different from that in Florida. Supper at Bubba Gump Shrimp was decent.
May 4th: Wedding day finds Leah stuffed up and sniffling. The hotel mattress was uncomfortable and the temperature was all over the place. Leah had her makeup done at a beauty school while Shawn and Wyatt picked up their rental car. It was a Mustang! Shawn and Wyatt went toy shopping and picked up comics and hot wheels. Leah and Shawn were married that afternoon. Dinner was at Triple George Grill.
May 5th: A full day of shopping. We visited the Coca-Cola store on the Las Vegas strip. We also went to the Hershey store, the M&Ms shop and the Stranger Things Netflix store. Freemont Street was dirty and busy. The premium outlets were full of moments. The Ocean One Bar and Grill was amazing.
May 6th: We finally left Las Vegas. Before we did though, we visited the Antique Mall of America. It was huge and we probably spent over 2 hours in there. Afterwards, we drove the 4 hours to Palm Springs. The scenery was beautiful, almost as if you were driving towards a gigantic painting. Cathedral City is a warm and comfortable town.
May 7th: We explored the town and area. The roads were fantastic. The thrifting and antique shopping was also amazing. So much fun sticking around our home base.
May 8th: A thrilling drive to Knott’s Berry Farm. The highways in California are atrocious. Super busy, congested and full of accidents and slow-downs. The amusement park was fun.
May 9th: The wedding week adventures are coming to an end. We visited the graves of Frank Sinatra and Sonny Bono. Afterwards we enjoyed a couple’s massage. Then we had a nap and some drinks.
May 10th: Homeward bound. An early drive to the San Diego airport. We took an alternate route. While it was quite beautiful, it was also treacherously windy and hilly. We were separated for 4 hours on the first plane ride. Fun, but exhausting. We are married!

Winter
I always hated winter. My mom hated winter. We get sick in the winter and are anemic so we’re always cold, and get the flu easily. And for when she was a live and what I do for a living, the amount of money you make drops in the winter. When I turned 9 my mother would go to the Philippines every winter. She was in real estate so her business was slow and she wanted to get out of the cold. She said her cough would go away as long as it was warm.
When I was little I used to always say that the only good thing about winter was skiing, and then when I turned 14 I would say the only good thing was snowboarding. There's ice skating, hot chocolate, Christmas, and snow tubing. We had a vacation home in the Poconos and utilized it for skiing trips.
Finally in 2017 I escaped winter moving to La in the thick of winter in January. Then after 3 winters in a row living in LA, I missed the seasons. I actually missed the cold, maybe a day with it. I was so tired of the day being beautiful everyday. Who would've thought, but the desert got to be too much. When I was living in LA I would hide out in "bourgeois pig", the darkest coffee shop in Hollywood. Just to escape all that light.
When I moved back to New York, I thought Oh brother winter is coming, and my first winter in New York was the Pandemic. So it was brutal. We atleast made money with the covid-relief while hospitality workers weren't able to work.
I remember in February 2020, right before the shutdown, I went to LA with sorority sisters and my ex, and I got to see everyone I had left in 2019, so my trip was exhausting. However, the amount we were working, the small apartments in Brooklyn, and just being super stuck in the city in the freezing cold.
I really wanted to leave and we organized a trip. Then when we got back, bam, the pandemic hit.
Everything in life really fell apart. It took a lot of energy to put it back together. The following winter February 2021 I went to Dominican Republic with friends. Then the following winter December 2021 I went to DR for a wedding, and it was a week long, but when I got back the winter deadness, depression, lack of money and lack of work really hit, stuck in my small apartment feeling the winter blues would happen and I just had to go to therapy.
I didn't have the money to leave the country or to flee to the west coast, but I had insurance that covered this so I talked through my winter blues. Which were actually decades and decades of blues. So I talked to her for a good 6 months and was like you know what, I never want to feel the winter blues like I did last time I'm going to leave for the whole winter.
Now, it wasn't the whole winter because that is really really difficult. I planned all summer to take this amazing trip. To LA North Hollywood --> Manila Philippines-->Siargao P.I-->Sydney Au -->layover in Hawaii--> LA ktown --> Palm Springs--> San Diego --> Home. December 24- February 15. 7 weeks. I really started buying tickets in June. It was enough time to plan a perfect trip and transition out of my old life into the new.
The best part is I stayed with people everywhere I went because I have family and close friends in these parts of the world. My acting friend who has a family, my brother, and entire mom's side of the family, plus doing adventures like surfing and swimming in Siargao, seeing a friend I knew since kindergarten in his new home in Sydney and getting to go to his amazing birthday party, and going to beaches like Manly Beach or Bondi Beach, (where when you go under water you feel like a marine biologist) and in ktown I stayed with my old roommate, where we felt like roommates again, and in Palm Springs I actually did a Bachelorette party for my friend, and saw cousins & An Aunt I haven't seen in forever which was really nice, and finally seeing my close friend who now lives in San Diego and my best friend who also lives there. So I was busy, not working!, and connecting, importantly enough I was connecting to myself and I got rid of those winter blues.
It wasn't easy, It was a reset, had to find a new job and that was a blessing, I was away from my boyfriend whom I missed terribly and he had a hard time in the winter, and I needed to travel to self-soothe because I didn't like where I was stuck in life. I wasn't happy with work, or my habits, or myself. Travel allowed me to just stop and just live, and the weeks go fast, but then you realize in 1 work day all the cool things you can accomplish.
Anyway this post isn't about my amazing winter in the Philippines. It's about the past winter that is just ending right now.
I changed my high stress, high paid, dead winter job and got a couple chill jobs. I finally moved out of Bushwick, a highly congested area with small apartments that are falling apart, even if they look modern, for our own apartment that's spacious in Queens. Dom and I think, how did take us so long to move to Queens. This winter I quit drinking. Not the whole winter but I did it for 2 straight months and it did feel amazing. Your sugar intake does increase. I didn't like who I was and I also could not afford drinking in NYC anymore. I could not.
So I filled my time with yoga, kickboxing, aerial yoga, good dinners, shows, and learning languages. I would discover museums The Met, Picking up dog sits, like we did on Christmas. I love checking out galleries too. Another thing is this winter, this year, my boyfriend works a lot, and when he finally has days off and we finally get to spend time together; it’s quality time together. No stress, no running around, not a million people. just us and just us only.
When you're in your 30's and you have friends that are married who are starting their families. When you’re at a stage where you finally don’t have roommates, no kids, you don't even have a dog, so you get plants and a fish. Priorities shift. I like being home, I wana see my family or my boyfriend, you stop prioritizing your friends, and start prioritizing jobs you enjoy and focus on healthy hobbies like yoga. I wana read. I realized the beauty of New York in the winter is this. No lines, not many people, you can take a class on anything, try Groupon, you discover so many shows, eating out you can get in and out easy. This time I didn’t leave for 7 weeks just left for 1 week. San Diego, LA, and Phoenix. To be honest it was a great trip because I realized LA isn’t the vibe for me anymore. I really enjoyed Phoenix, Arizona. I want intimate nights at home, hiking, nature, good food, and good vibes. My 20’s are really over. My head and my heart tell me that.
I’m glad to know when you’re busy with the right stuff and in the right situation. Winter isn’t that bad. I also figured out my chronic sickness was because I hated my job. Life is way too short for that. The drinking was also from high stress. It really will come down to taking care of yourself and your needs. Then you can survive winter. You can probably survive anything.
