LOOK AT HIM!! There's so much to do with his character! Abused as a child? Give him angst. Ex Army Ranger? Give him Trauma. He's literally a main character, and we dont have more on him? Why dint yall LIKE HIM?? I Love Him! He's great! He's sassy!

I have many things to say about Brennan and sweets and booth and their relationship and how important and special it is to me that they all endured serve childhood trauma and abuse and the way that impacts their relationship and separate characters and how they interact and eventually I will write it out (highkey I could write an essay if I weren’t so busy) but I’m way too sleepy rn

Anyways their relationship and their specific representations of child abuse/solidarity between survivors of it is extremely personal and special to me and it’s easily one of my favorite parts of the show

Bones AU

Recently my brainrot got to the point of me mashing two of my favorite things together, so I present you this Bones AU I cooked up

If you never seen Bones here's a excerpt from Wiki:

The show is a forensics and police procedural in which each episode focuses on an FBI case file concerning the mystery behind human remains brought by FBI Special Agent Seeley Booth to the forensic anthropology team of Dr. Temperance "Bones" Brennan

So now that you know what Bones is, here's my thoughts on the characters (get ready. I have a lot of thoughts)

Max as Dr. Brennan

Max is forensic anthropologist (one of the best in the World!). He is cold and rational (love is a chemical reaction). He comes off as a little off putting and doesnt get social cues or customs.

In the show Dr. Brennan is also a renown writer with a best seller book series. I'm not sure I can see Max in this role, but I desperately want to keep the plot of the episode with lab being a club every character works at (in the episode Brennan writes a story about a club called The Lab and reads it out loud to Booth who is in a coma)

A very important part of Brennan's character is the fact that she is an orphan. Her parents left her and her brother alone when they were teens. I think in this au Max can also be an orphan, but unlike Brennan, his father will not be redeemed. My idea is Max's father was actually a really dangerous fugitive and his family had to run away and hide from him. And maybe in order to hide her kids from Jos she decided to put them in the system. Maybe she comes back later and then tries to mend their relationship (basically the plot between Brennan and her father in the show)

Daniel as Agent Booth

Daniel is a fbi agent and a former sniper (also one of the best) who went through war. He is emotional and up beat, goes by gut feeling and loves to joke around. Daniel is a pop culture fan and loves sports. He is the one to "thaw" Max out. Gives Max little pet names (Bones, Maxy, Maximus).

At the start of their relationship Max and Daniel argue a lot because of their different views on life and Daniel sometimes thinks that Max is emotionless and doesn't have empathy. But when they start getting closer, Daniel starts seeing Max as a caring and emotional person that he is.

In the show Booth's character is built on his role as a protector. His father is an alcoholic who used to abuse him and his little brother Jared. Maybe Daniel is the same in this au, but I'm not sure I want to make Daniel's father an abuser. but this au is still in the works so.

Charles as Angela Montenegro

Charles is an expert on computers and reconstruction of victims identities / crimes. He is a free soul, an artist who never really wanted to work with dead bodies and only does it to help his best friends Max and to make enough money to go to Paris and live his artistic life full of sex, muses and parties.

Charles is very emotional and empathetic, but also impulsive and doesn't stay in one place for a long time.

Carlos as Dr. Hodgins

I'm not completely sure about this casting but the relationships with other characters work really well. idk I need to think about this more.

Carlos is an entomologist, botanist, and mineralogist. Most of the time he is very calm, but when it comes to things and peoke he loves he can be described as enthusiastic and eccentric.

A big part of Hodgins' character in the show is his upbringing. Hodgins' family is millions rich and is one of the sponsors of the Jefferson University and the lab. But I don't really see Carlos as a millionaire (even if Hodgins himself doesn't act like that). The part of the rich sponsor family in my mind belongs to Strolls (obviously), so maybe Carlos is a normal guy. idk

Also an important thing is Charles and Carlos relationship. It is very sexual at the start but after some rocky moments they build a very loving and strong relationship.

Oscar as Zack Addy

Oscar is studying to be a forensic anthropologist. He is truly a Max's student. He sees Max as his true mentor and role model. Oscar is very smart and a little nerdy about it. He also is rational and calm, but very impressionable due to his young age.

Has a very close relationship with Carlos because they live together (Oscar lives in the attic of Carlos' house) and work in the same office.

Lando as Sweets

Lando is a young fbi psychologist who was assigned to Max and Daniel to asses their relationship and then basically imprinted on the pair. Lando is a geek, he often makes references to pop culture and freaks out over a new Avatar movie. He is also very awkward and vaguely intimidated by Daniel at the start of their sessions.

Lewis as Cam

Lewis is a coroner. Despite being the official boss of the lab, he and Max basically run things together. He is cool and approachable down to earth boss, but very strict about the rules and paperwork. He and Max have a small rivalry (bones vs flesh thing) .

Other characters

The rest of the grid will be squinterns (squint interns) and other workers of the institute!!

I imagine George as Clark, a very reserved and serious guy who tries to keep things professional, but turns out to be a big gossip.

Seb plays the role of Gordon Gordon. A weathered psychiatrist who has to sort Max's and Daniel's relationships.

Standing in front of your desk, you picking up the report and opened it, flicking through it to find the page you were looking for.

“Looking through that file over and over won’t change anything.”

You glanced to the doorway before turning your attention back to the file.

“I’m telling you right now, that is not the man we were after Fury.”

“He was the only person in the building, our information told us that he was, he took himself out and half the team in there by blowing the place to hell. He’s our man.”

You slammed the file down, glaring at your boss.

“He isn’t the guy! He was just some ploy planted there to distract us and make us think we brought down a commander for HYDRA.”

You clenched your jaw, balling your hand into a fist and pushed yourself away from your desk.

“I need you to double check.”

“Double check what? That the guy’s skeleton matches our photos because last time I checked (L/N) that’s not how it works, and right now we’re trying to identify your fallen squad.”

“I know…”

You dropped yourself in your chair, bringing a bandaged hand to run down your face and you stared at the ceiling.

“Look, have you spoken to your psychologist about this? Asked the doctor for something to help you sleep?”

“I don’t need it I’m fine.”

“Right, because obsessing over some asshole is the definition of fine. Speak to them both, that’s an order agent.”

You narrowed your eyes at him.

“Fine, under the condition you get somebody to confirm that the bones in the morgue belong to that bastard.”

Fury threw his hands in the air and left your office, leaving you to just sit there and stare up at the ceiling.

Hearing your phone ring, you pulled it out and looked at the caller ID before hanging up, setting it down.

After a few minutes your pushed yourself up and grabbed your phone, keys and badge, leaving your office and down the hallways.

A few floors down you found who you were looking for and you walked into his office, dropping yourself on the couch.

“Please, come in, make yourself at home.”

“Bite me Coulson…”

He chuckled a little, standing up and walking over, dropping his blazer over you.

“So, you finally got Fury to get someone to double check the identity for you.”

You shrugged a little.

“I’m telling you it’s not the guy…”

“I believe you, but you’ve also been through a lot, so you need to be ready to accept that it could actually be him.”

You turned your back to him and said nothing, just staring at the back of the couch.

You were hoping for some sleep, but after an hour or so of laying there you gave up on that hope and got up again.

“He’s got somebody who can identify the bones, we’re taking everything over to the Jeffersonian now, and you’re in charge of heading the team.”

“The Jeffersonian?”

“Fury’s way of making sure you stay rational I guess, you know them, you know they’re good at what they do. Here’s a list of everybody.”

You took the paper form Coulson and read through the names, all of which were familiar to you.

“Put agents by every single door, they’re crafty. And bring FBI special agent Seeley Booth, he’ll find a way in either way, just make sure you take his gun.”

“You got it.”

You handed him the paper back.

“I’ll be there in a few hours.”

Leaving his office, you made your way to the bottom floor, heading to your apartment to get changed.

Standing in front of the mirror, you looked at the bandages that covered half your chest, going halfway up your neck and all down your right arm, covering your hand as well.

Sometimes you could still feel the heat on your skin, and it made your pain worse, made you loose sense with reality.

Shaking your head, you grabbed a clean T-shirt, pulling it on along with a hoodie.

Taking your medications, you shoved them into your pocket and left your apartment again, heading to the Jeffersonian.

Walking through the hallways, you were approached by an Agent.

“They’re reluctant to help, and one seems to be ready to charge at any moment.”

“Keep a close eye on the FBI agent as well as the conspiracy theorist, they are not to go anywhere alone.”

“Right.”

The agent led you to the door, and you swiped your badge, gaining entry past the temporary device and walked inside.

“We won’t do anything until you tell us what we’re doing!” Cam snapped.

Walking up the steps, you stopped by the man and woman just at the top and you glanced at them both.

“Barton, Romanoff.”

“Ouch, last names.” Clint grinned.

You rolled your eyes and held out your hand, letting them hand you a file.

“Fury ordered us to hang about until you came, we can stay if you want.” Nat said.

“No, it’s fine. Go home.”

They nodded and left, and you walked over to the group who were staring at Coulson.

He just stood there with a smile on his face, hands clasped behind his back, only moving one to remove the file from your hands.

Reaching into your pocket, you pulled out your badge, tossing it on to the metal table in front of you that separated you from the people staring at you.

“Agent (L/N), SHIELD agent, you’ll find that you lot don’t have a choice but to identify these bones.”

Coulson handed you two papers.

“This, is a court order signed by numerous judges, as well as your bosses stating that right now you are SHIELD property meaning we can hold you in this room until you give us what we want.”

You set it down, holding up the other.

“This is another state you will get paid for your work, you have access to whatever you need within reason from SHIELD, and that you are all under non disclosure, if you tell anybody outside this room what has gone on today you will be prosecuted to the highest degree and never see the light of day again.

You set it down on the other and took the photo from Coulson.

“I want to know if those bones belong to this man.”

You tossed the photo down and looked at them all as they just stared at you in shock.

“Any further details on him will be in the file Coulson is holding. Any questions come to me, I run this operation.”

With that, you turned around and left the platform, two agents going to take your place.

Making your way to the stairs, you stood in the walkway above them and just watched as they whispered to themselves.

Angela and Hodgins glanced up to you, and it was Hodgins that turned to face you.

“Where have you been?!” He called.

“Busy.”

“We tried to call you to come back.” Angela said.

“I’m aware.”

It was Brennan who turned around next.

“You’ve done this thousands of times, you can identify bones why do you have us checking it?”

“I can’t remain objective on the matter, I’m swayed towards one decision. You won’t be.”

She nodded a little and you pushed yourself away, heading to sit down at the table.

A few agents paced up and down the walkways, and Coulson came up with Booth.

“I want answers.” Booth snapped.

“I warned him that you aren’t the answer type.”

“It’s fine Coulson, I’ll handle him.”

The agent left and Booth walked over, standing in front of the table.

“You leave the Jeffersonian without a word, and now you come back expecting us to do your work?”

“Like I said, you’ll be paid, you’re only here because I know you would find some way in, and my agents are trained to kill, not detain.”

“Your agents?”

You held up your badge again.

“Like I said, SHIELD agent. Whoever you think you can rat me out to don’t bother, I’m the boss of your bosses and theirs. You can’t touch me.”

“Oh so now you’re all high and mighty?” He scoffed.

You put your badge in your pocket.

“I have a job to do Booth, and my job depends on if that man is whom he should be.”

“And who should he be?”

“Need to know.”

You heard your phone buzz, and you held up a hand to him, reaching into your pocket to have a look.

Coulson: They are trying to access files.

Sighing, you replied.

You: give them one warning against it.

You heard the sounds of numerous guns being cocked, and you glanced up at Booth who was frozen in spot with agents around him.

“Stand down.”

The agents took a step back.

“All of you wait downstairs.”

They left without a word and you pocketed your phone.

“I warned you Booth.”

He slowly lowered his hands and he just stared at you, and you stared back.

“Was anything you told us true?”

You sighed.

“It was all true, I was a federal agent before changing careers, I don’t like beans, I don’t drink. Everything was true Booth, but when I came back from Holiday to find you all gone, up and left on your own adventures. I didn’t get so much as a bye from anybody, so I went back to my old job.”

“So this is our fault? It’s our fault we all thought you were dead somewhere? That you ignored us for two years?”

“You went back to the military for just under a year, I went back to being a federal agent. That’s all there is to it.”

You heard someone call your name and you got up, jogging down the stairs and into Angela’s office where everybody was stood.

Booth walked in and stood next to you with his arms crossed.

“Well, I haven’t got an ID for you yet, Brennan is still working on putting the skull back together, but we did find evidence he was on fire. Do you know anything about that?” Angela asked.

“We found scorch marks on the bones, not very deep but the fire would have been intense enough to crack the bones themselves.” Hodgins said.

You nodded.

“I know.”

“You know?” Cam asked.

“Yeah, just like I know if Brennan focuses on the front of the skull first she’s going to find an entry wound from a bullet, but no exit wound.”

Brennan walked over and stood in front of you.

“How did you know?”

“Because I’m the one that put it there, which is why I know he was on fire. Because if you play Angela’s animation you’ll find that he was the centre of the blast, and the moment that bullet went through his skull it triggered the explosion.”

They all went quiet as they watched the animation Angela made, and it played out exactly like you said it would.

“That means you were there as well.” Sweets said.

“Congratulations you can tell the obvious. I know how he died, I want to know who he is.”

With that you stormed away, heading back to the table where you sat in peace, and once again Booth was escorted up.

“You didn’t tell me you were blown up.”

“You never asked.”

He walked over, sitting on the chair in front of you.

“How did you get out unharmed?”

You scoffed a little, reaching into your pockets you pulled out your medicine and handed it over to him, then took your hoodie off.

Booth could see through bandages wrapped down your arm, around your neck and going under your shirt.

“I didn’t, but it’s a price we pay for our line of work.”

Booth slowly set your medication down on the table and he stared at it before turning his attention to you.

He could see you were tired, and just above the bandages on your neck he could see the sliver of burned skin.

“You nearly died and didn’t say anything?” He asked quietly.

You stood up, walking over to the railing to lean on it.

“I spent months unconscious, then in rehab and trying to get better. I’ve been busy.”

You heard Booth behind you and you turned around to look at him.

“That’s why you’re so fixated on this isn’t it?”

You nodded.

Booth walked over, and he stood in front of you with that sad look on his face he had whenever someone he cared about was hurt or in trouble.

“I’m sorry.” He said.

“You’ve got nothing to be sorry for.”

You brushed past him and he watched you go, you weren’t the same person but at the same time you were.

But all those feelings he had came back, and they were all confusing, yes, he was mad at you for leaving and not being in contact but now it made sense

down the rabbit hole we go, im big on crime shows soooooo most of them are

psych (2006-2014, 8 seasons) ; i've watched it from start to finish 3 times and even know i go back and watch my favourite episodes (prime video)

summary ; the mc (shawn spencer) is very observant and gets called in bc the police think he's in on all these crimes bc he keeps calling in tips, but he lies and says that he's a psychic.. and keeps it up for YEARS, subplot slowburn romance is SO YUMMY familiar faces ; shawn spencer (james roday rodriguez) in a million little things, burton guster (dule hill) in holes, other familiar faces + there are also 3 psych movies & the the creators are planning out the 4th, they're just waiting for a producing company to pick it up with funds, (peacock)

bones (2005-2017, 12 seasons) ; i'm currently watching this & i'm obsessed but try not to get too attached to any characters, i like how a lot of the characters are in some way autistic (like me) and they don't ever have to point it out bc that's just how the characters are, be aware, the remains are kinda gross but i'm goos w it (prime video/freevee)
