Update on bunbun!

I've been busy caring for this sweet 7 year old girl so my usual content was a bit slow. She's about 10 days post op now from having a very enlarged uterus full of liquid and necrotic tissue removed. We ran some tests on her and found it was not a bacterial infection which is what we hoped, but rather a uterine cancer. The good news is it doesn't appear to have spread anywhere else at all, and her recovery is stellar, with everything having been removed just in time (the surgery was critical bc this thing was so full there was high danger of it bursting in the body). It was a stressful surgery because prey animals especially might stress to death when put under and may not survive the surgery. So it was risk the surgery, put her down, or risk the uterus bursting and taking her little life. Thankfully she beat the odds.

I will interject to say this rabbit was not spayed. It is EXTREMELY important to fix your rabbits because fixing them decreases the risk of cancer. 70-80% of rabbits that are unspayed develop cancer after 3 years old and it is hard on their little bodies. Cases like bunbun don't always end well, and even with all this cancer can return, so please please fix your pets. Better to spend the money to be responsible than risk the high chance of expensive hospital bills and more importantly, a very sick friend later on.

She was extremely boney and skinny before, and now is plumping up and being more active and i got to see many flops and binkies (her owners were delighted to hear this because she evidently rarely binkies). Who knows how long that dreadful cancer was sapping her sunshine away. She will be going back to her owners soon to hopefully live a few more happy years!

I've been working in high volume spay/neuter for about a month and I'm pretty proud of how small my incisions have gotten! This is my pinky finger, and the incision is to the left, not the right ;)

This past Wednesday, Lady had her spay surgery. She came home high as a kite and running around with absolutely no pain.

She couldn't keep the smallest sized cone on her head, so Hubs volunteered some of his socks to use as a makeshift post surgery outfit.

After some trial and error, she finally got used to it enough to move around. She still has a high step in the front, but she doesn't flop to the ground anymore.

Today (Sunday) she is most definitely hurting. She doesn't like the pain medication they prescribed- tries her best to spit it out. Last night, she vomited after her evening dose. She hasn't eaten in a couple of days and we are concerned she hasn't been drinking either. Hubs and I are going to start pushing fluids to help.

Poor baby just wants to lay there and rest. I don't blame her.

Recently I have had two stay black cats that have showed up at my house they found a hidden way into underneath my house. This is fine with me I don’t mind as long as they don’t destroy anything, I love cats so I was excited we got chosen. They have finally stopped being scared of us and so I was able to pet them and get a good look.

One a big muscley black cat with a fat face is definitely a intact male ( named him Mister) I finally got a good look at the other who is smaller and has an injured eye and been the most scared and turns out “Thor” is a little girl!!! And it seems Ms. Thor has a growing belly!

She is so sweet I started petting her and she started purring so hard! So I will be trying to see what I can do about getting them spayed/neutered, her eye looked at and anything else. I know it’s more expensive to do if they are carrying kittens, so I will have to see what a vet suggests.

I like having them around. If I did commissions to help pay for the vet stuff would anyone be interested?

I will get pics as soon as a I can on them.

( I am making sure after petting them I throughly wash my hands before interacting with my inside cats) 🐈‍⬛

Zoe has completed her spay healing!

No more buster suit and now she can have all her high places back again.

She did absolutely amazing. Lost 90lb but vet wasn't concerned.

Looks a little funny with her shaved tummy, but that'll grow back.

Got some sticky stuff on her from the plaster but. All good.

Me: "...I wonder if they could squeeze me in this morning."

It's that time of year again to remind everyone that it is fucking animal abuse to not spay/neuter your pets.

"But my fur baby is indoor only."

I don't care. Animals that are not fixed get horny and their first instinct is to run outside. And if they get outside they will get pregnant/impregnate.

"But my little lady is not even a year old."

I don't care. Cats can get pregnant as early as 6-8 weeks old, and many dogs as early as 4 months.

"But surgery is expensive."

Don't get a pet if you can't take care of it. Animal neglect is a type of animal abuse and you should be charged as such.

"But they don't get fixed in nature."

Yeah but it's also natural for litters to be born too early, too late, have major complications due to kittens and puppies being able reproduce BEFORE sexual maturity, and for the parents to dump them on strangers doorsteps bc their instincts to take care of a baby haven't fully developed.

FIX YOUR GODDAMN PETS ASAP and I encourage you to peer pressure anyone who doesn't into doing it or report them to the fucking authorities.

-Sincerely, the person who found a 4 month old kitten under their car with 3 kittens of her own with the umbilical cord still attached to one stillbirth(the only one that was fully developed). They almost lasted the night with human intervention but it wasnt enough.

Fix your fucking pets! And keep your cats indoors!
