Things We Ignore
Danny learned to ignore things quickly. From the migraines and muscle spasms he sometimes got after the portal to the icy discomfort during summer months. He ignored the ache in his arm from a poorly taken care of break. He ignored the jittery awfulness whenever he had to stay still.
Then he swapped bodies with Captain Marvel and found things he couldn't ignore.
Billy had a lot of things he ignored, too: The gods constantly yammering in his head, giving him unsolicited advice; The gnawing ache in his stomach; The sometimes numbness in his fingertips; The electric buzz under his skin; The constant loneliness that seeped coldness into his bones that had nothing to do with temperature.

Nightly routine wouldn’t be complete without me having to close this app after scrolling for 10 minutes because I start tweaking like a shitty animatronic from spirit Halloween over Pete Wentz and Patrick stump

I have some good news and some less good news: Good news: I think I'm probably going to make the giant cuddly Toothless, I can probably get by Joanns tomorrow during the fleece sale and pick up some black fleece.
Less good news: I am probably not going to be able to finish the quilt today like I'd intended to, my electrolytes apparently got even more out of whack than my normal, because in addition to regular muscle cramps and spasms I got the smooth muscle cramps again! 0/10 do not recommend, they finally stopped but I am so sore (as my doc explained it to me a while ago, smooth muscles are the ones around your organs, and normally you can't feel them at all. If they cramp or spasm very badly, you can feel them and they hurt real bad because you are not used to feeling them. I am not a doctor that's just what he told me) Good news: Sonic is my go-to Maximum Sodium meal so I'm going to have Sonic for lunch and see if that fixes me lol

Gotta love The Leg Shakies when I need to get up to take a piss at midnight, and this seemingly simple sidewuest jacks up my heart rate to 150 BPM because I have to:
1. Amy crawl to the bathroom
2. Transfer to the edge of the bathtub so I can transfer to the toilet
3. Do my business
4. Transfer back to the edge of the bathtub so I can get back to the floor
5. Army crawl to my bed again
6. Climb back into bed
All while nearly crying and throwing up in pain and my legs are spasming with any and all muscle movement

“When you came back, you didn’t do it purely because of us,” Jamie murmured. I bumped his arm with my shoulder.  “It’s weird when you do that.  Pick up a thread of conversation that we dropped a while back.” “Sure,” he said.  “You’re dodging the question.” “Statement, not a question, Mr. Perfect Memory.” “Implied question, Mr. Tiny Ass.” I stabbed a finger toward his face.  “Careful.” “You’re still dodging.” “Yeah, sure,” I said.  “That wasn’t the only reason.” “You’ve hinted at it before.  Do I have to say it, or will you admit it?” I shrugged, “Same thing.” “You came back because you wanted to be a Lamb, not a real boy.”
it's truly miraculous how much more interesting this is every time sy and jamie are conversing. also little mister tinyass would now be the thing i constantly refer to sy as if i liked him like i do alec. but he doesn't have those privileges.

There is a muscle twitching in my arm that will not stop and it is so very bothersome I can't help but imagine graphic imagery with a carving knife.

It's a bit above pay grade (more emotional bandwidth than intellectual understanding).
But been talking abt the age old fandom scenario abt Virgil and anxiety medication. And how there's nuances there depending on which class of medication we're talking about.
Like - talk therapies and serotonergics like SSRIs are better for folks who have more constant/chronic anxiety. And the way they work tends to take months/years to fully become effective (because they're giving your brain some building blocks to make healthier bridges with, aiming to slowly tame your anxiety to becoming more appropriate and manageable).
Benzos are extremely fast acting and potent - and are best used extremely short term and on an as needed basis (i.e. someone w/ acrophobia NEEDING to get on a flight for some reason, kinda deal; tho ideally they should be working on other strategies over time to not need the benzos forever). They're very appropriate for acute episodes of anxiety/panic.
But one of the main risks they pose is addiction, because the withdrawal symptoms can render them completely copeless. And this ramble got me thinking abt an intense what if, "What if c!Thomas is experiencing benzo (or other substance filling that specific need, w/ similar drawbacks) withdrawal? What would Virgil and the others be like?"
