The Neutron-Turner Family Memory Book by TheBlossomingFox (teen | oneshot ) : this fic is adorable! it’s an aged up jt fic where the author explores their dynamic as parents. it’s adorable and funny and one of the best slice of life fics i’ve read :)

2. Another Day in the Future by JesterJazz (gen | oneshot ) : this fic is definitely one of the funniest fics i’ve read in this fandom. following jimmy and timmy when they accidentally time travel to the future, landing in the house of their future married selves. it's jimmytimmy focused, but it highlights their friendship and fun bickering really well.

3. twin fantasy by nousernamesorry (teen | 4/? ) : jimmy receives a message telling him that he's needed in space, and he quickly leaves. only, he doesn't come back, and timmy has to learn to heal. i'm going to be completely and fully honest when i say that this is the fic that got me into writing for the nicktoons team. op has a writing style that is incredibly heartwrenching, and the small amount of fluff before the latter chapters completely breaks me everytime i read it.

4. more than cartoons; battle of the bands by anonymous (gen | oneshot) : spongebob squarepants is putting together a band for the annual school contest! with his makeshift team of muscians, he has to beat the syndicate before they win the tournament! this fic is SO fun! it's definitely my favorite of the author's oneshots, and it's amusing and charming and just aljewfwabkfd

5. only have a moment before it's all over (a burning desire that cries again) by whisper_into_my_heart (teen | 14/50 ) : i have to be completely honest, i was REALLY late to the party with this fic!! mpreg (and preg in general) really is not my jam, but i instantly fell in love with op's oc hannah, and the dynamic between the girl andher parents. im not exactly caught up with the story (no spoilers please :3) but i am SO excited to finish the next few chapters and then for the rest of the story to be completed!!

6. We're Perfect Punting Height by CrystalMarbles (teen | drabble ) : this fic is a drabble, but i think it's pretty funny!! it's about the gang having a conversation with each other discussing the syndicates less than evil traits. like plankton's height, or crocker's obsession with finding fairies. definitely a good short funny read!

7. Rewinding the clock by Pastacurls (not rated | 7/? ) : (grabbing onto your shoulders and shaking you) SECOND PERSON!! I LOVE SECOND PERSON. anyways there's barely any three word fics in this fandom that i could find. i know this is hypocritical of me but im going to say it anyways. this fic is my JAM though. amnesiac timmy after his eighteenth birthday, stumbling through the remains of his life as he loses his fairies and his friends. i could talk about this for hours.

8. new phone who dis by rbt_lvr ( teen | 9/? ) : the old fandom is rottmnt. unapologetically. they're technically nicktoons so it counts in my book. plus, this is genuinely my favorite fic that ive read like uh ever. it's a silly chat fic where all of the turtles are gaslighting each other into thinking that they are normal people. donnie makes a mom joke that never fails to make me laugh. leonardo's raised by the gay hippo and worm. they treat lou jitsu like taylor swift fans treat taylor swift. it's absolutely insane. 10/10.

9. lead single by nousernamesorry (teen | 2/2 ) : if nousernamesorry has 100 fans im one of them. if they have 10 fans im one of them. if they have no fans im dead. i love all of their works and every single one makes me swoon. lead single is KIND of cheating with this prompt because most of the setting takes place on a beach. and it's also kind of during the summer. but it's about jimmy and timmy spending their birthday's apart, and the setting makes me wild. like the vending machine intro and the beach ending to the first chapter. like all of that screams summer to me idc idc.

10. The Art of Cooking and Cleaning by AbsoluteFooling (gen | 1/1 ) : GUYS IM SO EXCITED TO SHARE THIS FIC WITH YOU!! i love this fic so muchh oh my god. i had the priviledge of reading it before it was put on ao3 and oh my goddddd. makes me insane. it has spongebob and timmy dynamic (which we need MORE of) and its just. its just glorious i cant explain it in words. its about timmy questioning his self worth, and spongebob helps him. and its OUGH cant even put it into words. please go read it. if theres a fic i want you to read on this list its this one.

11. Are you Satisfied with an Average Life? by Anonymous (not rated | 3/? ) : i was really surprised by the lack of fics with lyrics as their titles... guess ill have to write more in order to continue doing my part. OKAY but this fic is REALLY GOOD. i absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE anything that relates to timmy's amnesia. this fic focuses on the main nicktoons as they help timmy recollect his memory, and timmy immediately hits sbsp in the head with a baseball bat and it is GREAT and the writing style is GREAT and i do think this is a necessary read. i really hope the author updates, but it has been a while, so i'll treasure the chapter's we have!!

12. Bad at Flirting by ShippingMyWorld (teen | 1/1 ) : because im cool and unique and whatever the kids are talking about with that demure stuff the other ship is tigerghost. which i KNOW is cheating considering i wrote a tigerghost fic, but i main jimmytimmy and its important to me that you know that. this fic is a fluffy, silly little fic where danny and manny talk about manny's love for cheap and cheesy pick-up lines (established relationship). shippingmyworld ALSO has a really cool tumblr account AND a bunch of other cool ao3 tigerghost fics so this is my absolutely desperate plea for you to go check them out.

13. but he's got a gun in his hands, and a burden in his heart. by Anonymous (teen | 1/1 ) : hi yes its me hello. totally anonymous user here. why havent you guys yelled at me to make my fic titles shorter omfg that's like an entire essay within itself. it's REALLY hard for me to choose one of my fics, because they all hold a special place in my heart for a different reason, but specifically the ending of this fic makes me break everytime. i won't spoil it but i love the metaphors. anyways this fic is BASICALLY just a bunch of timmy and (sort of) danny whump. check it out if you're interested :D

Of Memory Loss and Manipulation by EepyTheSleepy and @c0dydoesntknow (teen | 4/? ) : hello YES this fic is really great and it definiely falls right in line with my other interests. as soon as somebody says timmy amnesia fic i am GONE. the plotline in this fic is great, and the characterization is even BETTER. like you guys need to go support these two because they are amazing people and even amazinger authors!! their story is about the evil nu gang gaslighting timmy into thinking that the og nu gang is evil, which is GREAT because timmy just ends up being really confused the whole time

15. When rain falls, love blooms by 23ster (gen | 1/1 ) : kissing in the rain is SO romantic guys when is some girly gonna come and do it with me? this is a friend to lovers fic by the all time BEST person ever 23ster, and it perfectly conveys the idiots that are our favorite characters jimmy and timmy. from the trope of there is only one bed, to the all best ROOMMATES, and then the romantic yearning love confession(slash argument) in the rain. this fic ruins you, but its so so so great i swear.

16. So... Zinnias? by suluswife (gen | 1/4 ) : guys idk what kind of fics you want from me for this one i gotta be honest,, i love nala and all that he does (and i know the second chapters in production!! it also writes ninjago fics please for the life of me go check them out) and this fic just. IT JUST FITS THE PROMPT!! i read this at 3am!! it has the conversation at midnight and that writing that just FLOWS you know?? it's a platonic jt fic (im trying really hard to find nicktoon fics in general, i pinkie promise) with a soulmate au! jimmy and timmy are both idiots in this, but they have a conversation on the roof while staring at the stars so its a great fic by all standards.

17. best two out of three by dhe20 (gen | 1/1 ) : theyre so funny in this fic i love them so much.. if youve looked at my reblogs you know that i love it when they say just the stupidest shit ever, and this fic DEFINITELY fits the bill. it's so funny it kills me every time! plus the way the author writes converys the battle scene well, and im so happy that this fic has a number in the title so that i could convey my love for it here!

I'm going to attempt to start posting quick battle reports from my games of 40k and this here is my first attempt. Please give me any feedback and stuff if the report makes no sense or stuff I guess. Alright, here goes, first battle report

Black Templar (righteous crusaders) Vs Tyranids (invasion fleet) 2k points.

Didn't get any pre game photos but my templars held nothing in reserve and were defenders and the Tyranids had a winged wive tyrant, a mucolid spore and parasite of mortrex in deep strike as well as a neurolictor and a unit of genestealers in strategic reserves. In my land raider I had two units of sword brethren (one with Helbrecht and a lieutenant and one with a judiciar) (also i was proxying some terminators as eradicators because i only have 3) and my opponent had a broodlord attached to a unit of genestealers not in reserves. Our game was a search and destroy deployment with burden of trust and hidden supplies as our primary mission and mission rules.

I won the roll off for first turn and here's what the board looked like after deployment and our first scout moves (lots of scouts from me with my crusader squads). I also selected the vow to give sustained hits to all my melee because I always do because I love the enhancement that gives me crits on a 5 if I'm in that vow.

Turn One

First turns secondary missions were sabotage and marked for death, pretty poor pull but thankfully my scouts in the back left corner are able to sabotage for a few points, units marked for death are the swarmlord and both tyrannofexes so I have no chance of that this turn. I push all my melee forwards and get overwatched by the tyrannofex acid spray torrent cannon thing and keep my lancer in cover for the first turn. My eradicators get some damage on the carnifexes and their push ability got them into engagement with one of the crusaders squads after rolling a 6 on the dice for a big 8" push. Unfortunately this did leave the carnifexes in sight of my gladiator who was able to kill old one eye after some pistols finished off the carnifex left on 2 wounds. With the carnifexes gone my crusaders charged the gaunts and warriors behind the wall in my opponents deployment zone and the squad closest to me charged the genestealers. The squad in the middle failed their charge so are left on the centre objective. At the end of my turn I discarded marked for death.

After a brutal first turn my opponent drew no prisoners and bring it down. Tied into his deployment zone he didn't have much movement apart from rushing his gaunts and failed his battle shock on the lone warrior, deciding to keep him in combat. A mean rupture cannon with no other targets turned a scout into jam and my opponent scored 2pts on no prisoners from the genestealers and broodlord finishing off their squad and my crusader squad on the lone warrior consolidated into the tyrannofex to stop it from overwatching next turn.

Turn Two

Turn two saw me drawing engage on all fronts and bring it down so it seemed as good a time as any to get rid of that space marine murdering acid spray. I pushed my land raider up the side and both units of eradicators towards the middle objectives. I had pulled my scouts off the far objective in no mans land but had left my lone op lieutenant over there so scored for two objectives and (spoilers) successfully guarded one. The scouts returned to the board via their special rule to score me engage on all 4 fronts and I managed to shoot a lot of wounds of the tyrannofex and both my crusader squads just managed to finish it it off in combat with their power fists getting me bring it down. The other living crusader squad decided to eliminate the genestealers threat but did very poorly on their rolls leaving the broodlord alive with 3 wounds and only two power fists alive to get him next turn, but surely they can finish him off on my opponents turn...

My opponent drew marked for death as his extra objective and so I marked my lone op, the scouts and my intercessor squad (forgetting about his genestealers still to come on). My opponent pushed his gants to grab the objective and brought in his reserves, surprisingly not bringing on his genestealers but his neurolictor and the parasite to try and get my units marked for death and deep striking his hive tyrant and prime into the battle. The tyrannofex repositioned to get a line on my lancer and took his two shots. I popped smoke and armour of contempt to try and save my poor tank and he rolled a 1 and 2 to hit. A free reroll from the hive tyrant saw one hit and a wound but he rolled a 1 on damage, still resulting in 7 damage leaving my tank on 5 wounds. The parasite made his charge and killed two intercessors and the sergeant punched some wounds off him with his power fist. My two power fists got 4 wounds on the broodlord and my opponent made all 4 saves and wiped another crusader squad with him.

Turn Three

Shadow in the Warp

Shadow didn't actually do much, both my vehicles failed and the lone op lieutenant also failed (slightly annoying because he was going to grenade to ensure assassinate (spoilers)). I pulled assassinate (the spoiler in question) and cleanse from secondaries. I pushed my crusader squad to take out the biovore and lost all but one to overwatch from the swarmlord when I failed every single save. Thankfully he was still able to move within 8"of the broodlord to grenade him to death (I guess I really wanted to use grenades this turn) otherwise I think he would have been a big issue. I think I advanced my eradicator squad and accidentally cleansed with them because they move so short so neither of us noticed when it came to doing the action that they weren't eligible. Shooting saw my take a chunk out the tyrannofex who was then charged by the sword brethren squad with the judiciar from the land raider (love assault ramp) who destroyed him with ease.

My opponent pulled containment and engage on all fronts. I haven't mentioned but he has been shooting spore mines over the board so engaged was pretty well sorted. He moved his genestealers on my deployment zone to take my home objective and contained with his gants and prime in the corner. My sword brethren got double charged by swarmlord and the winged prime but the judiciar gets fights first so I was fairly confident I would be able to kill the hive tyrant before it struck. I spent two command points to switch into lethal hits vow (2 because of swarmy being there) and absolutely flopped my rolls and he passed a lot of feel no pains from his stratagem. Hive tyrant had 4 wounds left and the two of them picked up the squad. Neurolictor also charged my intercessor squad but they held strong ready to fall back again

Turn 4

Also known as the "I'm definitely getting more eradicators" turn. I pulled defend stronghold and containment, the scouts came back on to do some containing. Land raider dropped off helbrecht this time and he ate the swarmlords torrent overwatch, also failing lots of saving and losing two and a half models (he was going to overwatch the eradicators when they got into range but I told him that helbrecht was about to get out the land raider, it's a friendly game after all). The parasite and my lieutenant have been having a slap fight all game now and the intercessors fell back from the second horrifying bug to eat one of them allowing my landraider to (over)kill the neurolictor and park it's dumptruck wagon on the objective. The eradicators let loose with their melta and with all the rerolls caused 10 wounds on the swarmlord per squad! This freed the lancer to complete containment and Helbrecht happily finished the hive tyrant off.

In my opponents fourth turn he did what he could to score a few more points but the points had crept away from him. He drew defend stronghold and recover assets and was able to get 6 points on recover assets but called the game there. We added up points and I drew our last turn secondaries (behind enemy lines and area denial for me and area denial for him) to see how many points we would get and here are the final results of the game with paint scores (we always add them on regardless of painted standard)

Wow this took a lot longer than I thought it would, might not do it for every battle but it was fun :) please give me any feedback and if anyone wants to know lists used i can add them too.

Karaoke love

Beware of manga spoilers for the latest chapter. This is exactly 1000 words. I was totally into it at the end. I hope the ending makes sense. Heh!

Toto takes a shot from his whiskey glass, easing himself up. It’s his turn to sing. The screen monitor shows the song that he’s chosen awhile back. The truth is his singing is only confined to the four corners of the flat and his shower cabin in Asakusa.

Ron mentioned once that his love for singing in the shower is one of the rare times when Toto lets himself go apart from his innate resoluteness. But come to think of it, Ron didn’t say much about the quality of his singing voice, Toto has only been just self-conscious ever since that incident that he never sings anymore whenever he stays at Ron’s apartment.

Who suggested going to the karaoke bar anyway? Ah, it was Kawasemi-san. Today is the last day that he’s going to be in town and coincidentally his birthday that for all intents and purposes, Dr. Mofu asked him what else he wanted to do in Tokyo before going back to Aichi.

They rent a private room at the Karaoke Kan in Shibuya. The shop became famous when it was featured in a Western film in the early 2000s about two Americans, who found each other amidst the backdrop very alien to them: from food to cultural references. The premises have become a Mecca for tourists.

The whole gang is here. Amamiya, who tags along these days, and Dr. Mofu didn’t have the time when they went to Kamakura for sightseeing two days ago. So, they made sure that they were present this time around before sending Kawasemi-kun back to Nagoya. The only one who’s missing is Spitz, who cannot leave London at the moment and is disgruntled with a dash of envy in his body when he finds out their plans.

“Ack, Tototo! I am going to miss your performance. Ron-kun says that he has a rock ‘n’ roll singer living in his house.” Toto laughed when he heard this.

Should Toto stand up?

An arm gathers around him, as if grounding him. While the hand holds his shoulder, firm and yet tender. Toto turns to his left; Ron’s blue eyes confront him. Relax.

“Y-yeah…” Toto has calmed down a bit.

The first notes of a raunchy electric guitar surge, he poses to belt out the text that flashes on the screen.

He knows it by heart and has been a Bowie fan. He’s so glad that Toto made a little research about him. Dr. Mofu’s face breaks into a giggle as she stops conversing with Amamiya, who cannot stop smiling. Toto, gyrating before her very eyes, has transformed into another person. And Ron? He’s looking at Toto with his hungry eyes, his hands won’t stop rubbing his thighs clothed in loose jeans. He then places his right hand into his pocket and reaches for a small box inside, feeling glad that he hasn’t lost the engagement ring.

As the Tokyo police officer hits the end notes, Toto bows to the delight of his friends clapping and whistling on his way.

“Thank you so much!”

Ron hands him a glass of water and half-hugs him when he’s already seated.

“You did well, Toto!”

Toto mouths his thanks as he downs another glass when the next song starts to play. Chikori kun can’t stop herself from gushing when he notices that Ron stands up.

Oh, he’s next. Toto is darn curious now. He knows that Ron can sing really well as expected of him.

All of a sudden, the whole room turns quiet. No one claps, nor whistles. As if a magician does his trick enchanting the audience. Everyone is glued watching Ron does his interpretation of a popular Elvis Presley song.

Toto is fastened on his seat, mouth agape. Ron is looking at him, his intentions are clear. His heart beats faster, aware of his surroundings and the four sets of eyes that are focused on them.

“Take my hand / Take my whole life, too / For I can't help falling in love with you…”

Ron sits next to Toto and seizes his hand. He begins to speak.

“I am glad that our friends are here to give me support and witness the promise I will say here today. Too bad that Spitz isn’t around but he already knows my plans.”

Toto’s face is red now not because of the alcohol but specifically because of Ron, who is in front of him, who is now removing an object from his pocket.

“Toto, I know that it is all so sudden. But, after all the things that happened between us, I believe that there is an understanding that we can’t live without each other and instead prepare to die together if we are faced with a choice, are you willing to be my partner for life? Will you marry me?”

Toto’s mouth quiver, why hasn’t he never thought that this day will come? Ah, that’s why he can never be as good as Ron when it comes to sleuthing.

He then grabs Ron’s face and in front of everyone kisses Ron, his fiancé. Without remorse nor embarrassment while their friends say their congratulations.

“Yes!”

Hey thanks for the ask! And that's the true spirit of being a Wordgirl fan. Also don't worry on the posting thing, I sometimes take long breaks or forget to actually use Tumblr but I always come back and I'm still somehow fixated on this show lol.

As for Tobecky fic recommendations...ough that's a tough one. I actually started a Google doc guide (like what their called, the author, how to read them, ECT.) about my favorite tobecky fics (giving my personal reviews and overview, no spoilers). But that's unfortunately been put on hold because I got self-conscious about it, and that I can't focus on two projects at the same time (my other one actually being a tobecky fic I'm currently writing, which hasn't been officially published yet, not a self-promote I think). Cold Water (chapter 2: Anthu: The End - Part 1)

Most of them knew that Selene grew up in a temple of Ondra; it came up in conversation sooner or later.

Edér also knew that she used to help people forget things they didn’t want to remember anymore - using her cipher abilities - and that it was bad for her, and eventually she needed to leave.

He didn’t know they tried to drown her for it.

He found out, just like the others, when they found Farentis in the Halls of Silence. Possibly the last one of the Low Tide with even half his wits about him, the old abbot asked Selene to set him and the others free - and she said yes.

She said to him:

“I was in your place, once.”

And then she told Farentis everything: how the memories she took ate away at the rest of her, how she asked her high priestess for help and got none, and how later that day four priests cornered her by the temple’s sacred pool and pushed her under the water. To complete the cycle, they said.

Edér stood there listening, and felt the objection he was about to voice die on his tongue.

He still didn’t know if it was right, to let all those monks out into the wild. The state they were in, most of them wouldn’t survive the cold; those who would make it to Stalwart could hurt someone, and then the villagers would kill them anyway.

But he couldn’t look Selene in the eye and tell her that those people were any different from her, and if she could bounce back from the brink… Who’s to say they couldn’t?

He knew what Eothas would say about this: everyone deserves a second chance. That didn’t make him feel any better about their odds.

In the end, even those in their group who didn't like the idea wouldn't challenge Selene on it. It didn’t surprise him. That was just how things went; the final decision was always the Watcher’s to make.

The thing that did catch him by surprise was that it wasn’t easy for her. When she picked up Ondra’s Witness, her hands were shaking; for a moment, it seemed like she wouldn’t do it, after all.

Then, she turned around and looked at him - why him? - and whatever she saw must have helped her make up her mind, because she jammed the Witness into the hole carved for it in the wall and turned it in the opposite direction to the one Kaoto told her.

When the tunnels filled with echoes of screams and hysterical laughter, she let go of the Witness and collapsed with her back against the wall, staring at the ancient cracked tiles in front of her as they all listened to the sounds of the Low Tide scrambling towards their freedom.

Edér had seen that blank stare - or something like it - before. The day the Godhammer had gone off, a lot of people were sitting around with a similar look in their eyes; the look of knowing that now there was really no going back to how things were before.

He was one of those people. Sure, there was drinking and celebrating, and that put his mind off it for a while - but once the rush of still being alive wore off, he found himself staring into space just like the rest of them. There wasn’t really one big question he was pondering; it’s just that his thoughts suddenly felt way too heavy to move anymore, so he didn’t. For a while, he felt like he might never get up again; then someone passed him by and said “we’re packing up, get moving”, and his feet obeyed before he had a chance to think about it.

Something similar was now happening to Selene; that’s how it looked from the outside, at least.

She always said that she gave up on Ondra long ago; that might not have been as cut and dry as she wanted it to be, but it didn’t matter anymore, because, after this, Ondra had definitely given up on her.

So, once the screaming had passed and they were left just with the sound of wind blowing through tunnels, Edér said:

“That’s the last of them. We should go, now.”

And Selene’s head snapped up with a sense of purpose that wasn’t there a second ago, and she said:

“Right. Kaoto is waiting for us.”

You see people are like teleporting around, different devils are getting huge mixing boards made out of cast iron with glowing ruby sliders on it. And all of the devils are running around cackling gleefully as they just rock at people. You see that they said,"

Random Demon: "An endless jam. A jam that lasts until the crumbling of the multiverse."

Brennan: "And Zara looks over and says,"

Zara: "All right, so this is your domain?"

Fig: "Yeah, this is my domain. And I guess it's sort of like the inherited figurative throne is where I imagine it being from."

Zara: "All right. There are many Warlocks like you. We see devils and dragons and creatures of this kind who can produce magic innately. They can both grant spells and are the source of their own spells. You are the archdevil of your own pact. And there is a great danger that comes with this."

Fig: "Okay."

Zara: "There is no agreement we are more likely to break than one we have made with ourselves."

Fig: "Yeah, I think that's true. And yet I feel like in doing this right, so in setting up this, I'm actually making good on my commitment to rebel because otherwise I was just gonna make another album with a music label and that's not rebelling. So if anything, by doing this, I think I'm being more truthful to the spirit of rebellion. So maybe I am breaking that pact to make one with myself. That seems like a lot. But yeah, I get it."

Zara: "I would say this. Bring to the surface a promise to yourself you will not break."

Fig: "Okay."

Zara: "You do not need to do this right now. In fact, it is probably the work of our time together at school to design and craft this promise. But without that promise, you will abuse your commitments to yourself."

Fig: "Yeah. If I don't phrase it in a specific way, I'll always find loopholes."

Zara: "I agree."

Brennan: "As you finish the conversation, she puts a hand on your shoulder and says,"

Zara: "I'm very glad you came to my class. I think you are very good at this."

Fig: "Thank you."

Brennan: "As she says that, you hear behind you"

Mysterious voice: *raspy breathing* "Ruin you have brought here."

Brennan: "And you see the Armor of Pride behind you."

do you think sparktober is a good time to get into stargate atlantis for the first time? i have never watched any stargates. should i start with atlantis or sg1?

i think so!! we’ll be flooding the airwaves here with fanworks.* however, it is definitely NOT the time to have a spoiler free experience! (neither is this post.)

*fanworks in sparktober will be heavily pushing the fandom’s favorite m/f ship if that’s your jam; the main m/m ship is also great and does not need our help because there’s soooo much content! the f/f shippers are starving as always but they work HARD to make festivals out of molehills. it’s a fandom’s fandom and a multishipper’s dream.

sg-1 is A Better Show in many ways, but atlantis is in the dead center of The Fandom Zone (very fun to watch and the setting and characters — and missed opportunities — make it a perfect fandom playground).

i watched sg-1 first, but i don’t think you need to see it if you are willing to just go “yeah okay 👍” when you encounter the basic sci fi mechanics of the world (you can walk through stargates and end up on other planets in the galaxy! if you have ridiculous tons of power you can even go to another galaxy! you can put a shield in front of your stargate and it will squish anybody who tries to come through like a bug on a windshield!).

and the general franchise premise that wherever you go, you will encounter humans, because aliens put them everywhere! different aliens in atlantis than in sg-1, actually. it’s just what stargate aliens do ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

you’ll have to muddle through with the knowledge that “okay this spins off from an arc in season 7 of sg-1, but the only thing that still matters about it is that there’s a city somewhere in space built by aliens we call Ancients, and we’ve been looking for it, and we figured out it’s actually Atlantis. also we found some stuff these aliens left in antarctica.”

because this was a pre-streaming episodic tv franchise, they’ll give you exposition when you need it. the main character is basically walking in off the street so everyone has to explain the basics to him (and you!), and a lot of the exposition in the first episode was brand new to sg-1 viewers too.

the whole first season of atlantis is completely cut off from earth, so the sg-1 aliens, storylines, and characters really don’t matter after the first 15 minutes of the pilot.

and basically all the characters are new! two of them, weir and mckay, each guest starred on sg-1 twice, but the only thing we really knew about them going in is that mckay is a super genius with no social skills and weir will face god (across the negotiating table) and walk backwards into hell.

HOWEVER, the streaming services (anywhere that divided it into Part 1 and Part 2) cut up the pilot episode in such a way that they took out the little exposition montage and some character intro stuff. if that’s how you plan to watch, dm me and i’ll send you the complete pilot — all the other episodes are intact!

9: Current WIP

So I have a few actually, some of which have been posted and a few that have not. I can't escape this now, unless you show me how is my major ongoing one. It's technically written for the most part, just needs a rewrite and editing. I also have a few other roleplays and short oneshots that have no names as of yet, with "Holey Chris" and "re oneshot number 2". There's also a few projects that will be a while that i wont name cuz SPOILERS. Also rip my posted wips that are collecting dust...

15: How do you deal with writer’s block?

Not well? LMAO. I try my best for it not to happen by taking breaks and not stressing too hard. I'm a pretty slow writer so I've learned that it's okay to take my time. When I DO get it though, I get sad and then move onto other projects (also, rip Please Don't Leave Me)

24: Favourite genre to write and read

I ADORE sci fi books. Give me thriller horror post apocalyptic space shit. That's my jam. The Maze Runner series is my favorite series so take that as you will. I realized a few months ago that my favorite book series was technically a zombie series, so my fondness for Resident Evil shouldn't have been a surprise...

The last two months of development have been incredibly fun and rewarding, and I’m glad to have contributed so heavily to this project, I’ve learned a lot of new techniques from my work on this jam both in time management and digital art.

So how do we feel about that update

because I'm obsessed

Sheds are changing my life. This is exactly what I wanted. I'm so happy.

(this got really long so I'll put my thoughts under a read more! spoilers for, the update I guess!)

I am speedrunning sheds immediately. I have already found some places to set them up and figured out how I can fit my entire crafting operations into 2 sheds. Now I just need to move over all the stuff in the chests in my one barn so that I can replace it with the shed and put the barn elsewhere.

Then I can use shed 3 for storage as I've wanted so badly so I don't need nearly so many hecking chests everywhere. Shed 4.... I actually don't know what I'll use it for yet. I actually have options! Maybe I will dress it up like a cute little room, or keep some of my pet collection in it, or fill it with stuffed animals, or see if I can make a cute little flower shop like Lavender would want.... I'm excited. I have options again. And assuming I can find somewhere else to put my other barn, that opens up a lot for me.

Also the barn upgrades are great. They don't take up any more space than before, they look cool, sure they give me more junk that I have to remove to fit more animals in but that's always the truth so it's neat. Now I have... ladders I guess. But I can store them in my shed!

But also. Nel'Vari barns. I am. SO excited

the moment I saw. that they had added in a frog barn animal. I knew. I would need Nel'Vari barns immediately. I love him I need 10 of these things right now immediately

All the new animals are so cute! I'm excited to get stuff set up so that I can put them places and gain their resources.

To that end, though, I realized that Nel'Vari barns were going to require me to actually do Progression that I hadn't done yet (because so far I hadn't really found anything I wanted that required Nel'Vari mines stuff. I knew I wanted to get there sooner or later, but just... didn't need to yet). I have a fire under my butt again and I'm actually making progress which feels amazing. Trying to seriously manage multiple farms is going to be a problem but what I really need to find a spot to do a massive amount of wheat production which will help with all the barns. It'll be complicated, but I'll figure it out.

uhhhhh oh yeah more RNPCs happened. They're cool! I like Kai, I've met him and I like his stuff so far as I've seen it. I haven't met Vivi yet but I can't WAIT to forcefully befriend her. Wesley is... Wesley. I'm happy for him. I'll befriend him eventually, probably while I'm in the middle of running around Nel'Vari doing mine stuff.

The house customization I haven't been able to play a lot with yet but I will more when I have my sheds figured out and money to waste. Playing Mix and Match should be fun, and I'm glad they're planning to put out more in the future! Even more stuff to look forward to~

Also now sometimes ghosts come and water my crops and I love them. Me and the ghosts are buds.

But also... this list... ohhhh man this list. I love this list. I'm p excited for most things on it but ESPECIALLY Farm Structures and WG and NV fruit trees. I LOVE fruit trees. I have a whole orchard section on my farm. Passive income is my JAM. Black market? Birthday? MORE RNPCs? I'm looking forward to all of these so much. Race-based dialog I know is something a lot of players have been looking for for a long time so I am interested to see how that gets put in! More dialog is generally good and they seem to have the personalities of the characters pretty well in hand so hopefully they'll just be fun fluff things and Lavender will finally be able to relate to Kitty and Catherine and they'll be best Amari buds forever (And then with Vivi too!)

Anyways I just wanted to spew my thoughts everywhere for a bit because I've been having so much fun again. Tell me your thoughts! Anything you don't like? What do you want to see in the future?

the space jam 2 post (spoilers)

Tl;Dr: there should have actually been conflict with the toons so that bugs relationship with them as his family could have been better explored as a parallel to LeBron James’ character. What we got was a contrived mess that did nothign for anyone and weakens the whole movie, also wasting everyones time.

My biggest gripe with this movie is the disconnect between the way Bugs is written and portrayed and the motivation given as to why he was abandoned at all. The first time Bugs is introduced he is alone, having been abandoned by the rest of the Tunes leaving for greener pastures within the Warner Brothers serververse. Bugs is not shown to have done anything that would warrant being abandoned, nowhere does the film imply explicit, deliberate coercion on the part of the antagonist in separating his friends from him nor does it even use the visual medium of the pictures shown on the screen that they were unhappy in the Toon World and/or the “franchise worlds” they are gratuitously animated into.

According to Bugs, the messaging being given to them was that they were “wasting their time” living in the toon world. What that means is unclear, leading to a very weird scene where the entire cast sans Bugs is implied to have left of their own free will and on some level were nondescriptly dissatisfied with life in their own world. There are so many things to be said about the IP shoving garbage that is the entire runtime of this movie, but this is the part that makes the least sense to me. I think they were going for “representation of the future thinks the Looney Tunes are outdated,” but that comes across only after careful deliberation and is barely there in the actual text of the movie.

The audience and the characters themselves are given nothing other than “serververse cool” as a reason for these characters to leave Bugs, and also no indication anywhere that there is something stopping them from coming back. There is no barrier to entry in these words but transport, which historically has been very easy in Looney Tunes and from how easy it was to bait Marvin and steal his ship, easily could have been done at any time. And then, all the other characters do throughout the serververse is play “recognize the IP dress up.”

There was no reason for Bugs to stay there alone going mad unless it was some sort of self-imposed exile because he failed his friends, or there was the aforementioned barrier to entry to and from Toon world (which doesn’t seem to exist). Addressing the former, what would be the reason for that? Bugs has done literally nothing. He has done nothing wrong. Nothing worth cutting him off. Nothing.  All he did was choose not to leave his home. The actual presented stakes of this situation are so bizarrely void of any meaning when there is no reason for them to be separated or get back together at all other than “Warner Brothers is making a new Space Jam movie,” and even then they don’t make any sense at all, and the emotional stakes the co-lead to this movie could have had are so contrived and nonsensical they had to introduce a life-or-death element one hour in because none of the other characters or the story itself are actually responding to the emotional journey the performance (given by the combination of the voice actor and the animators, I know Bugs Bunny isn’t really there) is trying to convey.

This movie is fucking awful and confused and there’s not enough thought put into the emotional journey of Bugs Bunny, and this is mostly just a thought dump as to why. I genuinely believe I thought more about the plot of this movie than the writers did, and I watched it for the first time literally 26 hours ago. At least Back in Action had the decency to only be an hour and a half long and has interesting character moments with Bugs and Daffy (who was done. So fucking dirty by Space Jam 2) despite having a lot of the same problems as this movie, weirdly enough.

Delightful fics I read today, part 2!

I did not realise, before this fic, that Xiao and Shenhe had some fascinating parallels. Which they do have. But also, feral Shenhe.

Just. Feral Shenhe. And... spoilers below for what, in my opinion, is a wonderful, wonderful conclusion and potential sequel bridge, that allows Shenhe to realise certain very important things. [Also has Zhongli rescuing Xiao, which is always my jam!]

"That is none of my concern." Xiao eases himself to the ground with a groan, spear clattering at his side. "Mine is only to fight to the best of my abilities. There will come a time when those abilities are not sufficient, and I will fall like my comrades before me. Such is the way of things."

"How can you accept that?" Shenhe says. "How can you serve one who would let you die?"

The quaver in her voice catches Xiao's attention. They're close enough she can feel him struggling to sit up again. He's patting his clothing, looking for her red ropes. Is this too much emotion for him?

"How dare he," Shenhe says, backing up a step. "How dare he leave you to fend for yourself. How dare he pay your flesh and blood like currency for the life he values more. How dare he abandon you here in this cave, when he was the very one meant to protect and cherish you!"

"Shenhe," Xiao says. He's reaching for her now; she dances away. "That's not how it is between us. Let me put these back on you—"

"No!" Shenhe snarls, fighting him off when he gets too close. She won't have her feelings constrained. If this is the end, she wants to rage and grieve for him, the way no one grieved for her, when she too was left to die.

With her own spear, she strikes at the prison around them, again and again. Xiao is shouting at her, something about the adeptal abode being impenetrable, but she's too angry to hear. Within her, the calamitous fates stir, and seethe. The violent urges. The promises of death and destruction, that have always been laid upon her soul. They pour from her, take hold of her, and for once she's wholly glad to make good on their promise. One more strike, and she rends a hole in this dark prison, letting in a single shaft of light.

Almost before she can register it, that hole is immediately widened, torn open with an urgent force.

The adeptal space collapses around them, and they're looking out into the real world again. Against the blue sky, there's Rex Lapis floating down: human in form, jet black arms motioning apart again, so that the carcass that imprisoned them is sundered even further.

She stares at him for a long moment, eyes still blinded by the sudden light, and then she screams at him, raw and primal.

It may not be coherent, it may not even be words, but the aching cry contains all the feelings she's never been allowed. She's been abandoned for so long. How could he sacrifice her, his living child, for his wife who's already dead? How could he leave her helpless with that monster, to fight for her life? What kind of father was he?
