The Profit & Love Statement » Pt. 20
↠ Pairing: Seokjin x Reader
↠ Genre: Fluff, Comedy, Angst
↳ 3.1k / CEO AU
↠ Summary: Through hours of endless training and hard work, Kim Seokjin is finally the CEO of Kim Electronics. He has everything at his hands - status, money, power. He owes it all to you, his rigid and sarcastic mentor who overseed his entire training. But as he steps into the shoes of becoming the CEO, he can only wonder what it means for your relationship now.
↠ Warnings: *sprinkles some more fluff*
↠ Next Update: Tuesday, November 14 (series masterpost here)
Yoongi raises a brow.
It’s roughly been around an hour past nine, too early of a time for his own sake. Yet, he's here sitting in the office, working on his statistics like every other office worker in his department.
Scratch that. Every office worker except you.
You emerge bright and early, two cups of warm brewed coffee in your hands. You place one on his desk, greeting him with a friendly good morning and turning to your desk. Booting your desktop up, your attention immediately gravitates towards your phone.
A small smile curls on the corner of your lips, before you’re resuming back to looking at your monitor, eyes sweeping over the sheer load of emails that have piled up.
And yet, you haphazardly run through them, a smile still lingering on your lips.
It’s freaking the hell out of him.
“Y/N,” He calls, your rounded irises revolving over to him, “Is everything okay?”
“Yeah, of course.” You narrow your eyes, “Is everything okay with you, Yoongi?”
“Sure.” He mutters, features still contorted. You nod, rotating around to view your monitor and clicking on an email to answer it.
Yoongi watches you carefully, noticing you replying to all of them how you usually would – with sharpened eyes and fingertips frantically typing. It brings him some ease, but he can’t quite place his finger on what has changed.
It doesn’t take long for him to get answers.
There’s a man that appears in the far corner, line of vision concentrated on Soyou and the file she hands him. He attentively listens, humming alongside her words and then he turns, appearing to head back to his office.
His eyes linger.
He looks like he’s trying to be subtle, but he isn’t actually – Yoongi notes. They flicker everywhere before landing onto your working form, a sheepish grin tugging on his lips.
The CEO takes a couple of strides over.
“Hi,” He quietly enunciates, standing in front of your cubicle and sounding breathless. Your gaze immediately snaps outwards, eyes brightening.
“CEO Kim.” You formally address, abandoning your emails instantly.
“Been busy today?” He softly inquires.
“Yeah, there’s just so much to do.”
“Ah, I see.” He grimaces, smiling at you all too tenderly.
Yoongi breaks the silence, feeling like suffocating himself.
“Are you two together?”
You spin around, mouth falling agape. Jin’s eyes enlarge twice the size.
Yoongi stares back at the two painfully oblivious people before him.
“H-How did you know?” You can only manage to sputter out, and he looks unamused.
“Really? Have you seen yourselves?” He quirks up a smile, “Don’t forget I’m married, Y/N.”
You roll your eyes and Jin sighs, “We need to get better at this.”
“I know.” You scratch the back of your neck, “It’s just really hard not seeing each other.”
“Tell me about it.” Jin remarks, “I should get back to work.”
You nod and he swivels, intent on heading back to his office. But then a call of your name has you glancing in his direction.
Jin places a hand on his lips, gesturing it towards you before leaving.
Face flushing, you awkwardly clear your throat, pretending like you hadn’t just witnessed him throw a flying kiss in your direction.
Jungkook nearly chokes on his noodles.
“You’re in a relationship?” Recognition floods him, an accusatory finger being pointed towards Jin, “With him?!”
Jin raises an annoyed brow and you nod, munching down on your food.
“How on earth–”
“Congrats, Y/N!” Hoseok exclaims, turning to Jungkook and wrapping an arm around him. “Trust me, this has been in the making for a long time.”
“Welcome to the party, kid.” Yoongi snorts, taking a sip of his coffee.
“Wow…” Jungkook mutters, “It just seems like yesterday you were complaining about him.”
“Or running after him for his training.” Yoongi adds on.
“Yah! Don’t you all have something nice to say about me?!” Jin protests, to which Jungkook rolls his eyes and a corner of Yoongi’s mouth lifts.
“We’d just ask you to keep this to yourselves.” You add on, and Jin hums. Although you were more than happy to be together, you weren’t keen on advertising the status of your relationship within the workplace, coming to the agreement that you had separate work lives to attend to.
“Of course.” Hoseok confirms.
Yoongi speaks up, “Don’t worry, we won’t tell anyone.”
“Thank you.” You retort as the door to the break room opens, with Taehyung and Jimin emerging.
In an instant, the former’s vision lands right upon your intertwined hands.
“You’re together?!” He loudly boasts and Hoseok hushes him down, ushering the two of them to join quietly.
“Oh my gosh, this is great!” He whispers, making eye contact with Jin, “Our plan worked!”
Jin sheepishly chuckles, but you frown.
“Plan?”
“Uh….” He throws a side-eye in Yoongi and Hoseok’s direction – much to yours, Jungkook and Jimin’s confusion. “How do I explain this?”
“We kind of knew…” Hoseok begins with a light chuckle, “About Jin’s feelings, so we tried to help him out.”
You take in their words with complete bafflement. “All of you knew?”
“I didn’t know!” Jungkook pipes up, but you ignore him.
“Wait, that means Taehyung knew, Hoseok knew–” You stop counting on your fingers, eyes landing on the cat-like man that’s smirking at you.
“Bingo.” Yoongi chimes, watching you let out a huff.
“Even Yoongi knew?” You let out in exasperation, watching him chuckle. Glancing at Jin in puzzlement, he simply shrugs.
“He’s surprisingly good at giving relationship advice.”
“Aw, hyung.” Taehyung pouts in his direction and Yoongi grimaces at the reaction.
However in the midst of their conversation, your mind is still buzzing and churning, bringing you back to all the antics that were occurring before the two of you got together.
The memories flash by one by one again – Jin approaching you abruptly, Taehyung pitching in and declaring everything he was wearing, Hoseok and Yoongi chiding you, making you utterly puzzled at their words.
Amongst all of this, Jin’s odd behaviour stands out most to you.
“Wait a minute, were you trying to impress me?”
You eye him and he visibly pales, but Taehyung beats him to it.
“He was! That’s why he dressed up for you and everything too!”
A gasp leaves you and Jin attempts to cover his face.
But your next words have him doing a double take.
“Wow,” You retort, “That was around when I realized I had feelings for you.”
“See! I told you it worked!” Tehyung exclaims, but Jin just stares at you.
“R-Really…?”
The corners of your lips curl into a tender smile and his gaze turns warm.
Hoseok loudly sighs, observing you.
“Man, being in love is nice.”
“You’ll find someone, Hoseok.” Yoongi pats him on the back and he appreciatively smiles.
“You’re so kind, hyung.” Taehyung inches towards the cat-like man, embracing him immediately.
Yoongi scoffs, attempting to push him back to which Taehyung complains at. You and Jin chuckle at the sight of Yoongi being utterly smothered with affection.
He gets up to head back to his office, detangling Taehyung’s arms off of him and mumbling underneath his breath, “I swear, everyone in this office is out to get me.”
“I’m not.” Jin winks, sending a flying kiss in his direction that Yoongi deeply recoils at.
“Go away, you’re the worst one.”
Jin cheekily snickers as Yoongi turns to leave.
***
After Yoongi’s departure, you had quickly finished up your lunch. Jungkook, Jimin and Taehyung remained, while the rest of you decided to head out soon as well.
“Oh–” Jimin immediately stands up, tapping you on the shoulder as you pack up your belongings.
You spin around in surprise. “Before I forget, I wanted to say congratulations on your relationship, Y/N.” He timidly brings up, drawing up a soft smile on your lips.
“Uh, I–” A sheepish expression crosses him upon hearing Jungkook and Taehyung make a ruckus in the background. “I just want to say thanks, for trusting me about it.” There’s a small smile on his lips as he watches Taehyung steal one of Jungkook’s snacks, “All of you have been very kind to me.”
You pat his shoulder, “Of course, Jimin.”
“Jimin!” Taehyung hollers. “Quick! Take Jungkook’s other arm off so I can eat this!”
“Hey!”
Jungkook snaps back at him and you chuckle, giving Jimin a knowing look.
“I also think you fit perfectly into this group of ours.”
He breaks out in a giant grin, an endless list of gratitude ready to spill from him.
Bidding all of them goodbye, you leave the room to find Jin and Hoseok talking to each other.
Jin's eyes perk up and he swings an arm around you. “Going back to work, Sugarplum?”
You recoil, “Sugarplum? Really?”
He frowns, “What? What other fruit do you want me to call you?”
“Anything but that!”
“Alright, raisin it is!”
You glare at him and Jin cheekily smiles. Hoseok snickers at the interaction, walking alongside you.
“You know, you two are so perfect for each other that it’s actually ridiculous.” He grins, “But I’m really happy for you.”
You glance at him knowingly and he soon departs, heading over to his office. You trudge over to your cubicle and Jin leans against your desk, watching you sit down.
“Don’t you need to go back?” You ponder, pointing in the direction of his office.
“I don’t want to.” He appears, leaning forward. “I want to spend more time with you.”
You giggle at that and Yoongi coughs loudly, peering over the plastic separating the two of you.
He groans, “Can you two go be lovey dovey somewhere else?”
Jin sends him a flying kiss. “It’s okay Yoongi, I know you love me too.”
Yoongi grimaces like he’s been shaken to the core, and you stifle a laugh at Jin's shamelessness.
He sighs, mumbling underneath his breath. “I swear, you and this boyfriend of yours.”
You and Jin make eye contact, laughing at his remark. All while the man grumbles and tries to get his work done.
The end of your day comes sooner than you had hoped.
When the clock strikes 5pm, you’re actually surprised and wonder where time has escaped to. You contemplate if it has to do with the good mood you’ve recently been in, the day not stretching out and feeling close to a tiring whirlwind as it usually does.
You’re also not used to someone waiting for you once you’re done packing up.
Throughout the rest of the day, you don’t see Jin as much – acknowledging that he was as busy with his work as you are, but you notice that he’ll come by every once in a while, excuses of paperwork or walking by tumbling from him. It was only when you saw the wide grin on his features that you know exactly why he’s near your cubicle, stirring up conversations with you or asking you if you needed coffee.
It’s extremely endearing – you have to note – especially when you walk past the line of cubicles late into the evening only to find him leaned against the wall and his gaze fixated on his phone, very clearly waiting for someone to show up.
You step in front of him and he immediately looks up, a grin pulling on his face.
“Hey.”
“Been waiting long?” You inquire.
“Not at all.” He steps off from the wall, reaching out his hand that you gladly take.
“How was work?” You honestly ponder, strolling towards the elevator with him.
“Not too bad,” Pressing the button, the numbers on the elevator begin to tick down, “They’ve been wanting me to make some executive decisions and I had been consulting my dad about it, but for the most part,” He shrugs, as if the mere thought of doing them before weren’t bringing him great amounts of stress the weeks prior, “I think I can do them on my own now.”
You step into the elevator, twirling at the sound of his voice. “Is that confidence I hear?”
“Of course.” He articulates smugly, “I’m Kim Seokjin, the CEO of Kim Electronics. What were you expecting?”
“Honestly, nothing else.” You chide at his notorious self-praises and he chuckles.
The elevator doors open with a ding and a familiar face peers up.
“Oh? Going home?” You speculate, gaze coming into contact with Jungkook’s surprised one.
“Yeah, just debating if I want to catch the bus or take a cab home.”
You grimace, “You must be really exhausted.”
“Not as exhausted as when I was working at the restaurant.” A knowing smile crosses him and you mimic his expression, all too aware of how much you’ve been through together.
Jin’s eyes glint, something impassible spreading across his expression.
“Well, I’m going to go.” Jungkook turns, waving over to Jin. “Don’t be so annoying to Y/N!”
“Yah!” Jin looks like he’s about to run after him and you shake your head with a laugh.
***
After leaving work, Jin ends up driving you home.
You talk about going on another date, one on the weekend and away from your busy schedules, since the two of you were quick to realize that you weren’t left with much time after work to do something more significant. Jin agrees wholeheartedly with your sentiments, stating that his work as a CEO only seems to be increasing with time and he wanted to at least spend some proper time with you.
You open the car door and he reaches to help you out.
“Oh, I never asked–” He raises his head to look at you, “How has the restaurant planning been going?”
“Pretty good.” He brings up, “Based on time I get from not working, I’ve been going through the details with Namjoon and we’ve started finalizing the permits.”
You clap your hands together. “That’s amazing!”
Jin softly smiles and you continue, “Honestly, after working at a restaurant for so long, I can’t wait to see what yours will look like.”
“Right, you worked at a restaurant…” He mumbles, voice dropping down a tone.
“Yeah, remember?” Puzzlement strikes you at his change in demeanor. “Me and Jungkook used to work together.”
Your words fall into silence, and you blink wide-eyed, not quite expecting it. Jin stands with his hands in pockets, his eyes averted.
Having been with him for so long, his reactions are always a dead giveaway for you.
“What’s wrong?”
“What?” He’s thrown off guard, not expecting you to ask. “N-Nothing’s wrong.”
“Is it your restaurant? Work?” His silence doesn’t give you any answers, so you take a wild guess based on your conversation. “Me working at a restaurant?”
He stiffens, and your eyes light up.
“I’m not working there anymore if you’re concerned about my wellbeing, in fact I have more time now to–”
“It’s not that…” Jin lets out a drawn out sigh.
“Then what is it?” You press forward, completely baffled. Racking your brain, there’s nothing else that you talked about recently, nothing else except–
Eyes flickering, your lips move and you blurt out your next question.
“Is it Jungkook?”
His eyes are wide and when it looks like he’s about to deny it immediately, your brows raise.
You can’t believe the next words you sputter out.
“Are you jealous?”
“N-No!” He immediately falters, resolve dwindling. “Okay, maybe a bit…”
“Really? You’re jealous of Jungkook?” You’re in disbelief at his resolution, “We’re just friends, Jin. That’s all, in fact we–”
You catch yourself in an instant, and he stares at you attentively, too hooked on your words.
“You what?” You’re silent, but he continues, “Y/N?”
You wince, unsure of how this will sound.
“We…actually went on a date once.” Jin’s eyes are as wide as ever and you raise your hands in defense, already anticipating his reaction. “We didn’t want to go! Hoseok was convinced after seeing us at the internship together that we’d be a good match, and ended up pushing us into going on a date.”
You sigh, remembering the disaster of the entire ordeal. “Truth be told, neither of us came out of it to be anything more than just friends.”
Jin crosses his arms, his gaze on you heavy.
“Where did you go?”
“To the movies, Jungkook wanted to watch some Marvel film.”
“What did you talk about?”
“Mostly work, or about Hoseok and Yoongi…” You furrow your brows. “I think a bit about his resume too, he wanted me to look over it.”
His voice falters, “So… you didn’t have feelings for each other?”
You shake your head. “We didn’t, Jungkook even left early because he was tired and felt like we only went for Hoseok.”
He holds a deep frown, arms still crossed with suspicion gleaming in his eyes. However after a moment passes, he exhales and nods, shoulders slumping down.
The tension leaves his form as easily as it rose.
A playful glint enters your eyes, attempting to lighten the mood.
“Who knows, maybe after all that we do have lingering feelings for each other,” You wave your hand around, pulling off your most dramatic tone that you’ve heard him use before. “Sometimes when I see him, I just–”
Jin grasps onto your hand mid-air.
“Hey.” He intently gazes at you. “I like you. A lot.”
You’re rendered speechless – fully expecting him to retort something playful in turn to you as always. Instead, you’re left resorting to simply nodding, frozen by his sudden surge of confidence.
At the sharp silence, you sputter out. “I-I was just joking.”
His confidence dwindles just as fast.
“I-I didn’t mean to…” He appears flustered, realization dawning across him. You softly smile, finding his wavering confidence at moments like this endearing.
“I guess I just saw the two of you together,” He explains, “and well… I think I saw what Hoseok saw.”
You look at him in concern, before letting out a low wistful sigh.
“Hoseok buys plants to excuse his mom’s requests for grandchildren.” You point-blankly state and Jin snorts underneath his breath, “Besides, he did say that we were a perfect match.”
His eyes twinkle at the recollection, a wide smile breaking out on his features. “He did, didn’t he?”
You tenderly nod and he cutely wraps his arms around you, pulling you against him. You laugh at the gesture, smiling into his embrace.

Calming Nerves
When you had decided to become a trainee under the Starship label you had hardly expected that it would have been as difficult as it was. Sure, you had heard stories from other people, but you only began to understand the immense difficulty when you lived it out yourself. You knew there would be many sleepless nights, but what past trainees didn’t include was that when those sleepless nights happened it also included aching muscles remained sore days after. You knew that money would be tight, but no one mentioned that some days you would have to go without eating when everything in your body pleaded with you to. Being a trainee was the hardest thing you had ever done, and now it was finally coming to an end. Every minute of intense practice, every day spent practicing vocals, every second away from your family and friends had all been to help you reach this moment. You were finally debuting.
It was only natural to think back to when you first became a trainee. Despite all the times that were not so fun there were also times that you were glad you experienced. And for some reason many of those memories included a certain senior that had always found time to practice with you. Soyou had claimed she was this supportive with all the trainees, but you still liked to think you were special, because every happy memory you had she was almost always in the picture. You thought back to the many times Soyou had helped you with your vocals, the times she had stayed late in practice rooms with you, the night completely dark and silent except for the sound of each of your voices booming off the walls. You remember her always buying you lunches or sometimes packing you little bento boxes and even though she persistently told you it was no big deal you could tell that she had spent a lot of time making the food. She would make you laugh so hard water came out of your nose, help you so often that you dance coach became convinced you knew the choreography in advance, and make you smile just when you thought about her. And now she was going to be there to watch you debut, and you were absolutely fucking nervous.
This moment had been the moment your entire existence had been leading up to, maybe that wasn’t fully true, but you felt content with over exaggerating in the moment. You had practiced so hard over the past months, trying your best to nail every ounce of your performance, and that’s why it was so scary. So many people were relying on you, whether it be your company, your parents, your friends, Soyou. You didn’t want to let any of them down. You twirled your water bottle around in your hand, doing your best, but failing not to fidget backstage. In T minus 30 minutes you were going to debut, and it all felt so foreign.
That was when you felt a delicate hand on your shoulder. It caused you to jump slightly due to the immense focus you had put into your thoughts. At first, you thought it would be a manager or one of the stage crew members, but it was a sweet and blissful surprise when you turned and saw Soyou. She looked amazing, which made your heart beat a little faster, but you didn’t dwell too much on that. “How are you doing?” She asked, one eyebrow raised, she could read you like a book.
You didn’t know what to say, so you didn’t say anything at all. How could you possibly explain how you were feeling? You felt as if you were feeling every emotion all at once, but that couldn’t be possible, could it? She sat down next to you and slung her arm around you, pulling you onto her shoulder. “I don’t even know why I asked? It’s okay, I’m going to say all the things I wish someone had said to me when I debuted.”
Now you turned to her and raised your eyebrow. “I honestly don’t think anything can calm me down right now Soyou.”
“I will take that challenge.” She puffed out her chest like she was a game protagonist and spoke in an announcer like voice. She reached out for your hand and took it in your own, which made your nerves melt into a puppy dog affection. She may be winning, but only a little.
“Let me start out my big and grand speech with this, there is absolutely no doubt in my mind that you are going to nail this. You have worked so, so hard (Y/N) and your kind of, sort of amazing so you also have that going for you. The first thing I noticed when I first saw you was how much talent you had, and quite frankly I’m more worried about if everyone waiting for you is actually ready.”
She watched you through her big black eyes as they spoke, and you comfortably melted into them when you felt the sincerity of her words. She continued her speech for what felt like hours, but not hours that felt like a lecture, it felt more like a story. Or perhaps she was a doctor this whole time and successfully when down the checklist and cleared all the symptoms and bad emotions you were feeling like it was nothing, like it was just her job to be there for you. And when she finished she reached into her purse and pulled out a plastic black box. A small bento box, just like she would so often make for you. “You’re probably too nervous to eat, but when you’re amazing everyone I brought you dinner.”
“Soyou I love you so much.” You whispered in a quiet voice that still kept an excited tone. Maybe you did love her.
“It’s no big deal, I do this for everyone.”
A smirk shot across your face the minute you heard those familiar words. “I don’t think you do. I think you just love me.”
“Maybe I do.” She said back with a big smile lighting up her face.

The Design in Her Mind
Part 5/?
Genre: drama, romance Rating: PG-13 Group: Monsta X
Summary: Sooyeon meets Monsta X by chance on the streets when they try to help her and her friends shake off creepers, but the meeting ends on a sour note. Some time later, Sooyeon meets the boys again, but at Starship’s headquarters. Although they act cold to each other, Shownu becomes more and more curious about her.
Disclaimer: This is 100% fictional and my own story. It is unrelated to the actual events and real persons of Monsta X and Starship. In regards to this particular fic, I’ve created new K-Pop groups and Sooyeon Kim is my original character. Parts will be written in Korean with English translations. I did not major/study in English/Korean, nor was I ever strong in English/Korean grammar, so there will be grammatical mistakes. This fanfic is written in third person and past-tense for ease of writing.
February 28 For some reason, it feels okay when he’s around.
The past couple of months have been extremely busy for Sooyeon and the rest of the company. With end of year festivities filling schedules, she rarely saw artists. Her team was busy creating presentations on presentations to spread awareness and market the female artists. She was in charge of Soyou and WJSN, while the other team members were in charge of Dasom, Chae Soobin, and various other actresses. Though they were in charge of these people, they worked mostly at their desks and met with brand representatives.
Things were finally slowing down, and Sooyeon started to attend the company dinners more frequently again. There was one every week or so, but she could only attend once or twice a month because of her project deadlines. The last couple of times, she happened to see the Monsta X members at the end of the table, with the other singers and managers. Her eyes scanned through the group, and when her eyes met with Shownu’s, Sooyeon couldn’t help but look away. She did go near to say her hello’s to the WJSN girls and Soyou, but only smiled politely to the others before eating with her team on the other side.
That night was no exception -- Sooyeon had just finished talking to Soyou and was about to head back to her seat when a chair pushed her forward, almost falling into the table if not for Soyou catching her.
“야!! 네들 좀 조용히 마셔!!” (Translation: “Hey!! Drink a little quietly!!”) Soyou barked, slapping the nearest back, which was Minhyuk. She turned to Sooyeon and asked, “괜찮아요?” (Translation: “Are you okay?”)
Sooyeon nodded and smiled, accepting the apologies from Minhyuk and Kihyun, before slipping away from the situation. She could hear the murmurs from the other members, but she just wanted to get away from the situation. She wasn’t sure what she was avoiding or what the slight disappointment meant. As she approached her table, her breath was caught in her throat.
Shownu stood near her empty seat, talking to her coworkers casually. Something lurched inside of her, and it wasn’t the alcohol. It was as if disappointment evaporated and a wisp of nervousness replaced the spot. She walked slowly to her seat, with some distance between them still, and studied his face. He looks tired and kind of worn out… but still good. Her steps halted and Sooyeon shook her head to throw her thoughts out. Other than a few polite greetings, she hardly talked to him and wasn’t close enough to ask him what’s wrong… much less think of him like that.
Shownu looked up and saw Sooyeon standing a few steps away, with an unreadable expression. She seemed to be staring at him but at the same time, not really registering his presence. He smiled widely, hoping to stir a response from her -- and when she her eyes focused on him, he bowed and smiled at her again.
After saying bye to Sooyeon’s coworkers, he walked back to his table. The members were rowdy and he rolled his eyes at Kihyun lecturing Luda and Dayoung about drinking responsibly. As he sat down, Wonho passed him a drink and asked, “무슨 좋은 일 있어?” (Translation: “Do you have something good going on?”)
Eyes wide, Shownu asked, “아니… 왜?” (Translation: “No… why?”) He took a sip of his beer, and without realizing it, his eyes wandered back to Sooyeon’s table.
“그 여자분이랑 친해졌어?” (Translation: “Did you get close with that girl?”)
*Cough* To Wonho’s amusement, Shownu coughed into his drink, making the beer bubble inside his cup. He looked back at Wonho, who had a playful smirk etched onto his face. Shownu huffed, “무슨 이상한 헛소리 하는거야…” (Translation: “What kind of weird shit are you saying…”) and he brushed Wonho’s question off.
Jooheon and I.M. eyed at the two older boys curiously, discreetly listening in on the conversation. They had only heard about Sooyeon from mostly Kihyun and Hyungwon, and only saw her up close when she did Shownu and Jooheon’s makeup. They didn’t see her aggressive outspoken personality, but she was definitely cold and business-only. Kihyun and Hyungwon continued to feel apprehension towards her, since her attitude wasn’t very welcoming.
Yet, Wonho didn’t give up. “아니… 우리한텐 되게… 싸늘하신데, 너랑 있으면 편한것 같아서…” (Translation: “It’s just… she’s really… cold to us, but she seems relaxed when she’s with you…”) Shownu’s ears perked up at that, but he fumbled for a quick poker face. Wonho laughed, “너도 관심 있는것 같아서.” (Translation: “You also seem to be interested [in her].”)
At that, Shownu chugged his beer and downed the rest in one go. When he set down the empty glass, he turned to Wonho. His lips curled into a small, almost invisible, smile and he said, “흠… 아직 잘 모르겠는데, 뭐… 어딘가 매력이 있는것 같아…” (Translation: “Hmm… I’m not sure yet, but, well… there’s some charm in her somewhere…”) His words trailed off and he quietly thought, ‘매번 볼때마다 다른 사람같아서… 궁금해… 뭐가 진짜인지.’ (Translation: ‘she seems like a different person each time I see her… so I’m curious… which is real.’)

Betrayal||Rhysand x reader
Pairing: Rhysand x reader, Azriel x reader (platonic)
Pronouns used for reader: she/her
Angst-fluff-hurt/comfort
Word count: 1k
Warnings: much hurt no comfort, reader is actively bleeding out, death (reader’s), no happy ending, I haven’t finished the series or written for Rhysand before so sorry
Summary: You would have chosen him over your mate every time, so why couldn’t he do the same for you?
A/n: Hope you all enjoy, sorry for more angst. Also I haven’t written for Rhysand before so again I apologize if it isn't correct.
It hurt. It hurt so much. Not physically, although your body hurts too, but emotionally. As you lay in a pool of your own blood, you see the man you had devoted your life to, both protecting and loving, run over to check on his mate, leaving you there alone. She would be okay, you knew that and so did Rhysand, but you knew you wouldn’t. He didn’t seem to care much for you at that moment though.
It was inevitable that he would one day have to choose between the girl he had loved for most of his existence or the girl he had just grown close to, but you didn’t think it would be so soon, or that he would pick her. They were chosen by The Mother to share a special type of bond, you knew that. You also knew you envied Feyre, she was prettier, stronger, and mated to the love of your life and while at first you didn’t think you ought to worry, as time went on and more hours were spent between the two, you did.
You could almost laugh at it. Thinking back to when you had met your mate at an illyrian camp all those years ago and the pure hatred Rhys had for the man. You didn’t even have enough time to get to know him before Rhysand had him killed off. While you mourned for what could have been, you also knew you had a different type of bond with the High Lord himself that was enough to last lifetimes of happiness, or soyou thought.
You also knew you would have picked Rhys every time, but apparently the feeling wasn’t mutual.
So here you were, after a particularly hard battle, laying in a puddle of your own blood, watching your long time partner nurture his shaken up but still perfectly healthy mate he had told you not to worry about.
“Are you alright? What can I do?” He asked her.
“I’m fine. I just need a moment.” Feyre responded. He was so concerned about her even though she would be walking away with a mere flesh wound and a few sleepless nights at most. You tried to call out but only the sound of you choking on your own blood made its way out. He didn’t turn around, instead holding her closer to him. But finally, after an eternity alone on the cold floor, Azriel ran over to you.
He didn’t say anything. He didn’t need to. After years of a strong friendship you could communicate through your eyes alone with him. He looked concerned and pale but after quickly assessing him, you realized the paleness was due to the realization that you weren’t walking away from this, rather than his own wounds. That brought you some peace.
“It’s okay Az. I will be okay.” you say as you move your hand to rest on his shoulder.
“You know thats not true.” He says as he looks at Rhysand, pure hatred for what his brother is doing in this moment, and for what he is not doing.
“Don’t. He is happy and as much as it hurts, it was bound to happen.”
“Not like this, he wasn’t supposed to pick her. He promised he wouldn’t. I’m sorry.” You remember that. After a fight with Rhysand about being too busy training Feyre to spend time with you and after Azriel comforted you, he yelled at Rhysand for his actions, something very few had witnessed the seemingly calm and collected spymaster do, and made him promise to put you first always. And Rhys had agreed, but apparently that promise had an expiration date.
“I know, but it is not your fault Az, don’t believe it is.”
“But he should be here with you right now. Not me. If I fought him harder on this maybe he would have changed his-” You cut him off with a finger to his lips.
“Let him live his life with regret that he wasn’t with me in the end. Cause now that I know who he would truly pick, there is no one else I'd rather have next to me than you Azriel.” That silenced him. As you started to slip away he hugged you tighter. With one last ‘thank you’ you drifted off, embracing whatever death had in store for you.
A cry broke out as Azriel pulled away from your now limp body. Rhysand turned over to his brother to see what the matter was, fearing he was hurt. He had made sure Feyre was alright and didn’t think he could handle dealing with another wounded member of his family. But the image of a crying Azriel, a rare sight indeed, holding your lifeless body was enough to turn his body red hot with fear instead of anger.
Azriel looked up at his High Lord and through his tears spoke with so much pain and disappointment in his voice, yelling would have been easier to endure.
“You didn’t even look back. You didn’t even check on her.” Azriel cried holding you closer as Rhysand tried to take you from him.
Az yelled a broken ‘No’ when Rhysand got too close. He didn’t get this, he didn’t get to hold you after you spent your last moments watching him hold her. So he didn’t. Az took you away as fast as he could, before the High Lord could try anything.
As Rhys fell to his knees in sadness for who he lost and guilt for not being there, he felt even more shame at the way his body reacted to the warm touch Feyre provided and at the breath he let out when he was reminded she was alright.

Part II- Chapter fourteen: Movies
Mentions of: Child Neglect, Serial Killers, Slight Paranoia, and loads of fluff
A/N: Here’s some fluff for the heart…Hope you enjoy!
Tags: @autisticpickle @moonshineinasippycup @dead-bxxxtch-walking @prettycutebunny @froegis
It wasn’t long until it was the winter, with freezing temperatures and tough snowstorms and blizzards. Things have been…chaotic with you and Frank, considering how he was playing on the varsity High School basketball team.
That means he’s at practice five days a week and has games on the weekends, leaving you to do all the work around the house, not to mention the time you’re spending tutoring students. While it could be a handful, you did your best to support him, going to his games and cheering him on.
Luckily, your foster parents were fine with it. Not that they cared about you in the first place. As long as you stayed out of their way and kept the house clean, everything was fine.
He even gave you his varsity jacket to wear, which you found quite romantic, especially considering the gesture was coming from him. Big, bad, Frank Morrison.
It confused you, but you figured out why he was doing it. To show you off. To show everyone that you’re his. The thought made your face flush and butterflies flutter in your stomach.
After a while, things started to settle down, and you managed to get a routine. Luckily for you, he had the whole weekend off, soyou could spend time with him.
So, once you finished your chores, you both sat down to watch a movie. “What do you want to watch?”
You asked as you grabbed a couple of blankets and pillows, sitting down beside him on the old worn-down sofa. The air conditioning in the house wasn’t great, always leaving you and Frank cold.
“Why don’t we see what’s on?” He offered, grabbing the remote and turning on the tv. He flipped through the channels with a bored look on his face, before eventually finding one that interested him.
It was a true-crime documentary about some serial killer. You didn’t know why he always liked these, learning about bad people and the horrible things they did, when he could know about the good ones. But he would always tell you the same thing.
“Bad people are interesting. It’s the good ones that are boring.” You’d always get offended by that. After all, you were a good person, right?
You always stay out of trouble and do what you think is right. But he’d just tell you to cheer up, and that you’re the one exception. The one good person he liked.
“Ugh, no. I’m gonna get nightmares.” You whined, hiding your face in his shoulder and looking away from the tv.
“C’mon babe, don’t be a chicken. This one isn’t even that bad, and they’re halfway through it.” He insisted. So, reluctantly, you let him watch it.
The documentary dragged on, and despite the horrors of the murders, you couldn’t help but feel tired. You almost dozed off for a bit, before a picture of some of the bodies flashed on the screen, making you jump and grab his arm.
“Jesus Frank! How can you like this stuff?” You hid your face in his shoulder, making him chuckle. He patted your head comfortingly, soothing you.
After another long fifteen minutes, the documentary was over, and you could finally watch what you wanted to watch. You stopped when you found a Disney movie, turning it on and watching it with a grin on your face.
“What? No. No way in hell.” He almost immediately protested. You rolled your eyes, already anticipating the fit he was about to throw.
“I sat through your crappy documentary, so now you have to sit through my stuff.” You told him, holding tightly onto the controller and side-eyeing him to make sure he doesn’t try to snatch it out of your hand.
“Don’t you ever wonder if you’re too old for this? Like, it’s so kiddy.” He complained, hoping that you would give in and change the channel, but you remained strong.
“Disney movies aren’t kiddy, they’re for people of all ages. You should watch something happy once in a while, Frankie. That crappy crime stuff will mess with your head.” You told him.
“No, what’s going to mess with your head is this Disney shit! It’s all singing and butterflies and rainbows, and it’s completely unrealistic! And that “crappy crime stuff” is preparing you for the real world, and it shows you how dark and cruel people can be.” He ranted, and you nodded with a smirk, pretending to pay attention.
Noticing that he lost your interest, he pouted, leaning back on the couch and crossing his arms. Grinning, you moved beside him and pressed a kiss to his cheek. That managed to get his once grouchy expression to soften ever so slightly, his cheeks heating up. You giggled at the sight.
–
Despite Frank’s attempts to not pay attention to the movie, through sleeping, or focusing on something else, he eventually grew immersed. You noticed, and when you spoke up about it, he got all defensive, saying that “There’s nothing else to watch.” But you could tell he was enjoying it, at least a little bit.
“So…who is your favorite character?” He asked, making you snicker. “Shut up, I’m just trying to make conversation, okay?!”
“I don’t know…But I do like the villains more.” You replied.
“Oh really? Why’s that?” He questioned with a curious smirk, his eyebrow cocked.
A small smile crossed your lips, one that Frank found cute and pretty. “Because they’re a lot more than they seem. They’re misunderstood and complicated, and yeah, more interesting. And deep down, they have a good heart..it was just broken too many times before.”
“God, that was so cheesy.” He remarked, making you roll your eyes and lean in, pressing your lips to his. The action stunned him, and after a moment, he kissed you back, wrapping his arms around you.
–
“Hey, Frank?” You whispered into the darkness, looking over at where he was supposed to be, on the air mattress on the floor, while you laid on the couch. While you offered to switch places with him, he insisted you sleep there.
“Yeah?” He murmured, indicating that he was still awake, causing you to relax slightly. Being alone in the dark right now when you already felt so paranoid was not the best idea, so you felt comfort in knowing he was awake.
“I can’t sleep. I know it sounds stupid, but I’m kinda feeling a little paranoid from the killer thing we watched earlier.” You admitted.
“Shit, I’m sorry (y/n)…I didn’t mean-”
“No, no it’s okay…But you don’t think anything
bad’s going to happen, will it?” You asked nervously, jumping slightly when you felt him grab your hand.
He shifted upwards, moving into your line of sight, so you could see him. It was hard to make out due to how dark it was, but you could see his eyebrows furrowed and a look of what you guessed was one of concern.
“(Y/n), I won’t let anything bad happen to you. I promise.” He caressed your cheek, pressing a kiss to your lips, and holding you close. You both knew he couldn’t promise that. Bad things are always going to happen, that’s just life..But it still reassured you and made you feel safe.
“Thank you. Can you sleep up here with me for the night?” He climbed up onto the couch, holding you close to him, watching as you eventually fell asleep in his arms, before he did as well.

My Fate Blooms | J.Jaehyun
“We can’t happen..”
Genre: royal!au, angst, fluff
Pairing: fisherman!jaehyun x princess!reader
Word count: 14,4k words (oop- and that’s a long ass ride)
Summary: You never imagine meeting your own prince charming, but somehow, you did. He’s not a royal, nor a conglomerate, but you found yourself falling deeper into him. But of course, nothing works easily for you, the next queen of the northern kingdom.
playlist; Give You My Heart - IU; I Miss You - Soyou; Sweet Night - V; Sunny days, Summer nights - Sam Kim; Like You - So Soobin, SOHEE; Let Us Go - Crush; But It’s Destiny - 10cm, etc.
“How much do I have to tell you, mother? I don’t want to marry that guy!” You throw away your royal necklace, pissed off by the routine of your mom always lecturing about how to be a graceful soon-to-be-married princess.
“He’s not just a guy. Watch your mouth, he’s the rightful future king of the southern nation.” Your mom put her hands on her waist, utterly shocked by how you behaved tonight. “Oh, you told me that as if I’m so clueless about it! As stubborn as it might sounds, mother, I don’t care!”
gasp! “How dare you speak like that to me.” She said coldly. How dare you slap your own daughter like that?
“Now, listen. Want it or not, you’re gonna marry the prince. I am doing this only to save the kingdom, the place where you get to enjoy every royalty and comfort even in your sleep. So, bare with it, princess. Do I have to remind you that every single day?” The queen raised her voice before leaving your room, stomping the floor with anger.
You let yourself fall, leaning your arms on the edge of your queen-sized bed. “This is not what I wanted.” You wipe your tears harshly, trying not to look weak even though no one could see your worse condition right now. “I just don’t want to marry an evil guy who will torture me in his dungeon, what is so wrong about that?”
The next day, you prepare your mental state that you have to wear a fake smile again as usual for the rest of the day. It’s an engagement dinner between two kingdoms, where you’d meet the person you don’t want to marry. You hate formal dinners and meetings like this, it’s boring and it’s just not you. You prefer eating alone in your room with your cats, or maybe enjoying dinner at the maid’s kitchen with Olly, your personal maid, rather than joining dinner with people you don’t even know. They aren’t even interested to know you, as what they care about is only about the kingdom and politics.
You feel one of your cats scratches your leg, making you wince in pain. “Shirley, as much as I want to play with you, I want to leave this goddamn room too. I know you’re bored, please hold on for a few minutes before I-” You turn your head up at a nudge in your left arm. “Are you crazy? Why are you talking to the floor?” Prince Han glares at you as if you’re a madwoman.
You rolled your eyes, “I’m talking to my cat. I’m glad that I’m not the only person here who thinks that this whole thing is boring.”
“So talking about me and the marriage is boring huh? I think you’re too idiot to realize that thousands of princesses of nations would kill to marry me.” Prince Han lifts his head proudly, making you cringe and you were glad he lifts his head high enough that he probably won’t see you making a face.
“Then, maybe you should marry those stupid blind princesses.” You rolled your eyes over and over again before you stand up and excuse yourself in front of all the higher-ups and leave the grand meeting room. Prince Han was not untrue at all. He has the look enough for the girls to melt by his graceful presence, and that was one of the reasons why your mother was so elated to choose him as the marriage candidate. But even though you know the girls would kill to be in your position, you’re sure that they would think twice after knowing what is the prince like in real life.
You got lost in your deep thoughts before someone interrupted you by taking hold of your arm. “Wait, princess.” You sigh when you heard the familiar voice, wondering why would he follow you out of the room. “What?” You turned at him, hands on your waist, and waiting for him to say what’s on his mind.
“I know that you despise this marriage, and as much as you do, I do too. But if this thing works we’ll get so many benefits. Just bear with it and be a good princess for once.” He looks down on your eyes, threatening them intensely as if there are fire coming from his eyes. “The benefit is for you, not me. Why would I trap myself in a relationship that I don’t wish to be in?”
He gets back to his former position, standing highly like a crown prince should be. “Oh, Y/n. I really hate to say this, but you don’t want me to take over, right? Once I take over the whole situation, you’re doomed. For now, I’ll stay put. So don’t get on my nerves, or I won’t take it well.” You stutter upon hearing the threat he sent you. This is what you hate about him, and the whole arranged marriage thingy. He’s a crude and abusive person. He knows how to put pressure on someone, especially you. You blinked in fear before he takes your silence as a yes and walks away.
“Just bear with it? Now he sounds like my mom as well.” You rant.
You put on your bathrobe, preparing for a warm bath after a rough day. “Finally, my lone time.” You dip your leg on the tub, feeling the warmth slowly surfacing your leg before sitting your whole body with a sigh in relief. “So warm.” Raised in the northern kingdom, you’re used to the coldness of the nation. Snow falls every two months and spring comes only when it wants to. You wear warm fluffy coats almost every day, as if the coldness of the people around you was never enough. You wonder if there’s a place meant for you to live in. You wonder if there is somebody out there who actually care for you, as a human and not a princess.
“This is crazy, this is pure madness.” You claimed to yourself as you start thinking of something crazy. An escape? A runaway? Sounds like life. Your marriage is coming in two weeks, you definitely have enough time to leave the cold palace and free yourself to smell the flowers, the life outside the dungeon you called home. And as if your thoughts weren’t crazy enough, now you start to think of the way to start the important mission to save yourself.
If there is not any charming prince who can save you, then you can save yourself, you thought.
“Ella, not now. I need to do some spying activities tonight. I can’t rub your neck at the moment.” You whine when your cat keeps following you around while letting out some meowing sounds which echoed around the hallway walls.
Ella walked away as if she understood your rejection to play with her. You shake your head as you witness her walking sassily with a seemingly visible scoff. “Dude, even my cats are breaking the rules. I’m a proud cat mom.”
You continue to spy around the palace, looking for some information that may help you leave the palace and all the terrifying things in it. You were walking around the hallway towards the palace kitchen when you heard the cooks and some assistants gossiping. You use the echoes of the grand wall of the hallway to catch what they are talking about.
“I heard the queen will be attending a party held in the southern nation. Of course, the princess will be forced to attend too. I pity her, most of her life spent on this kingdom, with no freedom or chance to find her own happiness. She never eats well like she’s supposed to in her age, because of her royalty image diet.”
You couldn’t hold your tears not to come when you heard how much the palace workers care for you. You pity yourself too, after all, the painful truth is instead of your mother, the only people unrelated to you were the only people who care.
So, the queen will bring you to the southern kingdom? That will be good timing! All you need to do is just pulling a good act in front of your mother so she might believe that you’ll come along with her, just in a different little carriage. And you officially do the plan.
“Mother, what kind of party would they hold there? I think I’m getting excited.”
Your mother gives you a look. “Why are you excited?” You tried to avoid looking so awkward like you have something to do which is actually true. “Oh! Are you finally getting closer to him?”
You sighed in relief mentally, before nodding excitedly at your mother. “Yeah! I hang out with Prince Han the last time he visited us. He is actually a funny person.” Duh.
“Okay, that’s a good thing! Thank god you finally make me happy!” Haven’t I?
“Well, they will be holding a garden party since it’s summer in the southern nation. I’ll prepare a beautiful summer dress for you, oh, I’ll have to make sure that my daughter, the fiancé of the prince, will be the most beautiful girl at the party!” Okay, this is great.
The party night comes, and the crazy idea of escaping your royal prison has been a big burden on both of your shoulders. You put an exciting act in front of your mothers and also other people. You can’t even feel your face after all the bold makeup they put on your face. The big luxurious dress tightly hugging your body makes you hard to breathe, you wonder if it will be able for you to run in this kind of dress. After all the servants leave your room, you go to speak to your cats.
“Sergei, my royal king. Please take care of the others while I’m gone. And you, Shirley, my royal queen. You should not wander off the palace because you will get hurt. Wait, I’m the one who’s gonna do that. Alright, whatever. Oh, and my baby princess, Ella. You’re the cutest baby of all the demons we got here. You can’t just come to people and ask for belly rubs cause... I’m the only one who can do that to you. If I’m able to come back, I’ll give you thousands of belly rubs and treats!”
All of the royal cats give you their unamused look as if they know that you won’t be able to escape this prison. “You guys think so too? Thought that I couldn’t make it out of here? At least, let me try.”
Your mother knocked on your door before entering the room. You quickly fix your gown and your hair, as if you are ready to leave for the party. “Hey, mother.” She smiled sweetly upon seeing your graceful appearance. “The prince will absolutely love you. Let him brag about his wonderful fiancé to the world tonight.”
“Well, there’s this thing that I would like to request for tonight, mother...” You started. “What is it? Tell me, honey.”
“Since I will be the most beautiful woman in that party, I want Prince Han to pick my hand himself as soon as I step out of the carriage. Which means, that I have to be in a different carriage from you. Can I ride in the diamond one, tonight?” You asked her nicely. Please say yes...
“That’s a great idea. Yeah, you should ride in a different carriage from me. Maybe you won’t be able to get back at the same time as me, right? You got to have a blast tonight! Sure, I’ll tell them to prepare the diamond carriage. My sweet daughter, I’m so proud of you!” She holds your chin gently, praising you for your wonderful idea. Little did she knows...
So you ended up in the diamond carriage alone, waiting anxiously for the right time to kick your horseman away. You glance over the window, looking at how far you’ve let the northern kingdom. Will you be ready for this? Will you be ready for whatever happens if you leave the palace, and the royal engagement? Are you ready for a new chapter in your life? Will you be happy? You don’t know, but something inside your heart says that it’ll worth for every single psychological torture you received in the palace. You take a deep sigh before opening the front door to the footman sitting behind the horses.
“Where are we now?” You whisper to the footman. “We’re about to reach the south side. In fifteen minutes, we’ll be able to spot the southern sea.” Great, we’re getting further from the kingdom.
“I’m so sorry, but... goodbye.” The footman gives you a disoriented look before losing his balance following your hard kick on his ass. He screamed loudly as he fell into the ground, rolling asides before losing his consciousness.
“That was a great ass-kick.” You praised yourself before taking over the handle ungainly. You stare at the horses in front of you with tactless eyes, realizing something. “I may have learned how to ride a horse, but now... I have four horses to handle?! Oh shit!” You notice the horses start to move like they’re mad. There was when you realized something, you don’t have any control over those carriage horses, and now they have no signal or tasks to do, and now they’re mad. The carriage starts to wobble, there’s no indication that it’s slowing down, even though the road in front of you is getting rocky and uneven.
You feel the wheels start to wobble out of place and when one of the wheels hit a quite big rock, the carriage was broken off from the horses. You watched the horses run away in agony before the huge carriage toppled over into a hole and you lost your consciousness.
You woke up with a lightheaded feeling as the warm sun rays stream right into your face. You glance around the room, this was definitely not your room. Not at the small windows across your bed, and not at how there’s a warm sunshine filling up the room. This is not the northern kingdom. So where are you?
The door opened before you know it, which makes you flinch at whoever coming into the room. “Oh, you’re awake?” Said a grown-up man with a tray of redolent food which you assumed is a bowl of eggplant and ginger chicken soup. You were left speechless, not because you don’t want to speak, but you don’t know what to ask first. There’s a lot of questions you have in your head, but you were blown away by the fine visual of this man.
“Uh... are you okay?” He asked with an awkward smile as he went closer to the bed you slept on. You blink as you stare right into his sharp eyes, and his pointy nose and his plump lips. Screw those girls who screamed about how much of an art Prince Han is like, they must have yet to see this man in their whole life before.
You watch him in awe as he puts the tray on the nightstand beside you. “Have some breakfast, you must’ve felt terrible last night.” He smiled, and oh, that smile would’ve killed thousands of women.
“Thank you very much. May I ask... where am I right now? And, what happened last night?”
He nods, and immediately sits down on the edge of the bed. “Let me introduce myself, I am Jung Jaehyun. I am a fisherman and so does my family. Last night, I was walking back home from the harbor when I saw a broken carriage in a pit of water near the northern kingdom gate. I saw a person on the edge of the hollow and that was you, so I brought you home and my family took care of you.”
You watched him as he spoke, focusing on his visual instead of listening. You were glad that someone this fine would save you last night. Sometimes, life is full of surprises. “Oh, I see. Thank you for saving my life. So, am I in the southern kingdom?”
He shakes his head, “No. Me and my family live in between the southern and northern kingdoms. Well, it’s safe to say that you’re in the middle of an unknown village. The people here live independently without a king. We keep our lives by being a fisherman or farmer and selling our yields at the market in the middle of the village.” He smiles as he explains where you are right now.
“Ah, I see. I never knew that there’s a little village between the northern and southern kingdom. Oh, I forgot to introduce myself. I’m Y/n, the prince- uhm I mean, daughter of Madame Yoon from the northern kingdom.”
You raise your hand for a handshake and he immediately shakes your hand. “Nice to meet you, Y/n of the northern.” It seems like he doesn’t know anything about the northern’s ruler, which is your mother. It’s great, he doesn’t have to know that you’re a princess of the kingdom. He probably won’t be your friend if you tell him that.
“The food smells nice. I’ll dig them in now..” you smiled before grabbing the tray and taste the food. He nodded before leaving the room, saying that he needs to prepare the toils for his work.
You quickly dig the food in, shrieking in awe as if you’re tasting the best food cooked by a world-class chef in all kingdoms. “Oh my god, who the hell cook this best quality food..” You finished the bowl within ten minutes, before rubbing your belly with satisfaction. “Ah, right. I have to wash the dishes, I can’t be a troublesome in this house.”
You grab the tray and the dirty bowls as you keep them steady on your hands. You were about to open the door when something catches your attention. “Oh, wow.”
You’ve never seen yourself in a simple dress like this. The outfit you wear right now is like the ones that your maids in the palace would wear. But you never knew that it feels really comfortable rather than the overwhelming dresses in your closet. Also, you feel so fresh that you finally feel some heat surrounding your body, for you’ve always been wrapped in coats since the northern kingdom is either snowy or stormy. “This is all new.”
What you saw first when you stepped out of the door was a little stairs. You use them slowly, balancing yourself as you kept the tray steady on your hands, when suddenly a voice greets you merrily. “Good morning, lady.”
You glance at the person and it turns out to be an older with a stick in his hands. You bow yourself like you used to greet older people in the palace. “Good morning, sir.” He laughed upon seeing you bow, gathering another reaction from everyone in the small house. You look around you, there’s a grandma in the living room, possibly the grandpa’s wife, and there’s a middle-aged woman in the kitchen who’s seemingly the mother of Jung Jaehyun, and finally, a little boy, who seems so excited upon seeing you.
“Ooh! She’s awake! Hi! I’m Yuno! Are you feeling better?” He waved after running in your direction, greeting you excitedly. You greet him enthusiastically, feeling warm that finally someone is actually excited to see you. “Hi! Yeah, I’m more than better! Thank you for asking,” you smiled. “Let me take care of the dish,” Yuno gives you his cute eye smile, which makes you pinch his cheek, thanking him in advance.
“Hello. Welcome to our family house. Though, our house is not as comfortable as the ones you live in.” The middle-aged woman approached you gently, smiling with visible wrinkles around her face. You shake your head in panic, “No! This is more than enough, madam. Thank you very much for saving me, I owe your family so much. Please tell me if there’s something I can help today..”
That afternoon, the family gathered around in the strait dining room. You sit next to Yuno, playing rock-paper-scissor. You laugh at how serious he was, tongue sticking out as he concentrates to guess what you’d pull out. After Jaehyun helps his mother, he goes to sit next to you, watching how you play well with his brother. “Hey, you two, do you want to go to the market this evening?”
Yuno looks at his brother, “Really? Sure! We have to bring Y/n to the market, I heard that they are selling some summer candies! You have to try it, Y/n.” Jaehyun looks at you, waiting for your reaction.
“Ooh! Candy? Yeah, let’s go!” You replied enthusiastically. Jaehyun tries hard not smile, even though your reaction makes him blush so hard.
As much as excitement fulfilled your whole body, you also worry about how people might recognize you at the market. Both kingdoms must be in great chaos now that you’re disappeared. Should you disguise yourself? But they will be suspicious of you. Well, since Jaehyun told you that this village is in the middle of an unknown area, you probably shouldn’t worry about your identity. You only pray that they don’t have any idea about the southern nor the northern kingdom.
“Hey, Y/n. Are you ready to go?” Jaehyun tilts his head upon seeing you daydreaming. You flinch when you see him right before you. “Yeah, I am. Let’s go..”
You watch the two boys messing around with each other as the three of you walked through the small patches with tall trees around. You smile in amusement, for there are no such things in the palace. Everything is fake, manipulative, and political. You can’t believe you finally found a simple life outside the palace, and now you feel happy because you left that place.
“Hey, we’re leaving Y/n behind... Y/n, let’s walk together!” Yuno goes behind to walk alongside with you. You smile and nod. Jaehyun also goes behind to your side and walks along with you. “So, that night when I saved you from the pit, I noticed that the carriage has diamonds in it. It was actually beautiful. Perhaps, are you coming from a wealthy family?”
You glance nervously at Jaehyun, confused on how to reply. “I..uh.. I was going to attend a party at the southern kingdom, before the accident. So, my mother gave me a beautiful carriage to go as a gift.”
He nods, and as soon as you see him about to open his mouth, you point at the shining market. “Oh, we’re here!” Yuno grabs your hand, practically dragging you to run with him into the market.
“Let’s try all the candies!”
That night goes perfectly for the three of you, after you discovered the little festival they held at the market. You spent the night playing happily with Yuno and Jaehyun. And now, it’s time to go back home. Yuno falls asleep on his brother’s back while all of you walked back home. He must be so tired after playing with you all day.
“Aren’t you tired?” Jaehyun asked you who’s walking excitedly beside him. “Not really, tonight was spent really well. I really enjoyed hanging out with Yuno. He’s a bright kid.”He smiled before he keeps his glances at you. “Y/n.. for a lost person in here, you look like you’re not planning to find your way back home.”
You look elsewhere, surprised by how he gives you such a strong point. “Well, I.. I want to go back home,” No, I don’t. “But not now.” Maybe forever. “I might’ve been here for only a day, even so, I enjoy being here. I’d like to stay longer, I promise in two days, I will get myself a place to stay.” Jaehyun narrows his eyes, “Why would you get yourself a home? Just stay in our place, if you’re comfortable with it.”
Your eyes lit up in delight, “Really? If that so,” You nodded. “I’ll stay and become your family member. But, won’t I be a burden or something? I mean, I eat quite well, hehe.” He chuckles upon your frank remarks. “Well, who said you can live in our place for free? There’s a fee for that.” You widen your eyes, already panicking inside for you don’t have anything with me except your wrecked party gown and the accessories.
“Assist me in the ocean and help my mother with farming. That’s what you have to do.”
You sighed in relief, “Oh, thank god it wasn’t money. I thought I’d have to remove all the diamonds on the carriage to pay my rent fees.” He laughed upon seeing your face, which makes you feel like butterflies are flying around in your belly.
The next day, you found yourself trailing behind Jaehyun as he prepares the toils. You feel unfamiliar with all the equipment around him, and you don’t know what to do to help. “Uh, Jaehyun.” You called him timidly. “Yeah?”
“Is it gonna be rough when we sail? Well, I’ve never been in a fishing boat before...” You told him timidly, folding your hands anxiously in front of him. He stands up from his spot, his hands on his waist. Is he judging me?
“Don’t be scared, I’ll protect you... I’ll make sure that you’re safe.” Oh, the smile that gets you every time. At the moment, you feel like it’s a deep promise coming out from him, as if he will always protect you from all the chaos you’re surrounded in. Jaehyun pats you gently, before signaling you to come with him and you only trail behind him, smiling like a stupid girl.
You stare at the man, his arm muscles appeared strong and prominent from bringing the fishing equipment in both of his hands. You spot the most easy thing to bring in his left hand, the fishing bucket with a few tools in it. You grab the bucket from his hand, smiling coyly. “Let me take care of this one. I want to help with whatever you need.”
He smiled sweetly, “Thank you. You know what, this is my first time having someone other than my father on the boat.” You give him a disoriented look, “Oh, is that so? Well, have you bring Yuno before?”
“Nuh-uh.. he’s a scaredy-cat.” Jaehyun shakes his head quickly and you just laugh.
Fifteen minutes later, you found yourself shaking in fear as he turned on the boat engine. He takes both of you to the fishing spot between the limitless ocean and the shore. “There we are.. let’s make sure that we catch a lot of fish today!” He shakes in excitement.
You asked him to teach him and as soon as you spread out the fishing rod, the hook starts to shake. “Ooh, ooh!”
“Pull that in! Roll it, roll it.” You tried to do it, but you were too scared to pull it properly. “I.. can’t!” That was when Jaehyun thought he could help, but...
gasp! He got the fish, which is a good thing, but the position of both of you right now.. is not quite right. His hands are around you as he was hugging you from behind, previously because he was in a hurry to catch your first fish, and he had no time to check what to do with the position. His body was so close to you that you could smell his manly smell.
Jaehyun moves his body away from you, blushing madly while showing his innocent dimples. “I’m sorry...” No words are coming out from you, as you still processing what just happened, until he speaks up again, “Here’s your first fish..” You happily look at the first fish you have ever in your whole lifebefore you frown in disappointment. “Awe, I killed it.”
He laughed at your expression. “Cute... it’s okay, can you hold it?” You glance at the poor fish, trying to hold it until it jumps in front of you, while you gasp in shock. He once again laughed upon seeing you shake in fear. “It’s only a fish, it won’t hurt you.”
You tried once again to be brave in front of him, reaching out your hand to grab the breathless fish, when it stayed and you finally grab it with your own hands. “Hey! I did it!” You happily put the fish into the bucket and gives him an ear-to-ear smile. “Good job, you got your first fish.” Jaehyun only watched you being happy with catching a regular fish for the first time, but what he’s feeling is extraordinary. It’s like there are a lot of things going on in his stomach, and he’s just praying that you won’t hear the loud beating sounds coming from his chest. He doesn’t even understand why his heart is beating so fast like this.
Night comes, and you found yourself sitting at the front porch of the small house, gazing at the stars. Even though you love being here, you can’t help but worry about what you should do onwards. You sigh, not knowing what to do, and feeling unsure of life. You’re scared that he and his family will find out about who you are, and you’re gonna lose all the happiness you feel throughout this little new journey. You feel like, everything will get back to where your life used to be, and that everything will be temporary.
“What are you doing?” Someone taps your shoulder, making you flinch at the sudden contact. “Oh, hey. Nothing, just stargazing.” Jaehyun sits behind you, looking at your face instead of the pretty view of the sky. “What are you worrying about?” He asked once again. You turn your head from the sky to him. “Do you really want to know?”
“Yeah, you know.. you’ve become a part of this home. We, especially Yuno, love your presence here. You make him very happy, you know. So, I- uhm I mean we, want to help you keep your smile too,” He explained. “Honestly, do you know who I am?” You asked. He tilted his head, thinking hard, before he answers, “Uh, Y/n, the daughter of Madam Yoon, from the northern?”
You laugh wholeheartedly. “Yeah, that is right, though. But the truth was more than that. Are you sure you want to know?”
Jaehyun realizes that this matter has become serious and he decided to appreciate whatever you might want to tell him.
“Even though I am so embarrassed to say this, I still think that you have to know the truth. I..” you paused with hesitation. You were so scared that he might turn against you after knowing that you’re someone he was not wishing to be. “Hey... it’s okay. Whoever you are, and whatever happened about you, I will give my support.” He smiled as he put his hand on top of yours, somehow soothing your worries away.
“I.. actually, am a princess. I am the true heir of the northern kingdom, the daughter of Queen Yoon, Y/n.” You confessed with a glassy eyes, staring right at his eyes, looking for a certain reaction. He says nothing, but his eyes widen in shock. And you knew what he’s going to do, which makes you prevent him from doing so. “Don’t bow! Do not.. bow to me... I don’t like that!” He blink in nervousness, but then sit back to his earlier position. “But, you’re a royal family member.”
“No, as long as I’m here, I’m not a royal family member. I’m your friend, your family. See, as soon as I told you about it, it gets awkward between us..” You sigh in advance, not knowing what to do with the situation. Jaehyun kept his mouth shut, before using the opportunity to get to know you more. You immediately tell him everything, about your engagement with the southern prince, and your political mother, and your life as the only princess in the southern kingdom. You also told him about how the carriage accident wasn’t an accident.
Jaehyun sighs, “What should I do? N-no, now that you’re here, what are you gonna do? Are you gonna hide here forever? I am pretty sure that they must have been searching for you everywhere. It can be dangerous for you,” He said with worries in his eyes.
You feel so grateful that even though you’re the only one being a burden in his own house, he still is worried about your safety. So, this is how it feels when someone actually cares about you, without any personal needs in between. “Jaehyun, I don’t think you should worry about me now. The only thing matters right now is your family. The fact that I’m here, is dangerous for all your family members. They are not playing when they come to seek what they want,” you explained.
Once again, he gives you his soothing smile, showing you his deep gummy dimples. “It’s alright, Y/n. I just want you to know that you’re not alone, and you’re more than worthy to be cared of, I’m here for you.”
The next very morning, you help madam Jung in the field to grind the rice under the shiny and warm sun rays. “The view here is so beautiful. I love staying here.” You uttered. Madam Jung smiled at you, admiring your beautiful figure even though it has been an hour and you still look like you’re fresh out of the shower.
“I’m glad if you’re happy being here. I’ve never had a daughter, and you make me feel like I have one. Thank you so much for coming into our household, Y/n.” If heart eyes are real, you’d say you saw them in her eyes. That makes you feel appreciated and accepted. All this time one of the things you have been looking for in life is validation. And started by how Yuno greeted you that day, you found out what validation feels like. “No, the one who should say thank you is me. Thank you so much for accepting me in your house, and because of your son, I can make it out alive. I owe your family so much. One day, I will pay it off to all of you.”
The tall trees line up around you, and at the edge of the cliff, you can spot the limitless blue ocean. There was one time when you went to the ocean, and the very next thing happened was you were drowned in the sea, slowly getting dragged by the alluring waves. That is why you always feel so nervous every time Jaehyun takes you to the sea, but with him, you can sense the protection and calmness he gives you. You know that you’ll be alright when you’re near him.
So, now that he walks beside you to the shore, you no longer feel nervous or jittery like you used to feel. You walk happily beside him, swinging the fishing bucket playfully as the wind gently blows your hair. “The weather is so nice today! It’s the best day to go to the ocean.” You fling out your hand, feeling the warm summer breeze. “So, are you not afraid anymore? Last week when we sailed, you were shaking so bad I thought you wanted to pee or something.” He teased.
You let out a mischievous smile, as you look at him from behind. You were about to tickle him when suddenly a bunch of girls surrendered him with flowers in their hands. “Good morning, Jaehyun! Perhaps, did you have breakfast? I brought you breadsticks and milk!” The most charming girl in the group greeted Jaehyun with a tone that makes you cringe. “I brought you flowers! It’s Bougainvillea... do you like it?”
As the girls surrounded Jaehyun and bombarded him with lunchboxes and flowers, you feel yourself get kicked out of the crowd. You quickly pout, looking at him giving his smiles to the girls, so you decide to walk ahead of him to the shore. “Hey, Y/n! Wait for me,” he shouted at your direction before jogging into your side, and the girls following him after.
“Jaehyun, who’s this? Perhaps, your cousin?” One of the girls asked. Jaehyun looks at you awkwardly, not knowing how to answer. “She’s... she’s my..”
You cut his words, “Girlfriend. Yeah, I am his girlfriend.” You give them a mischievous smirk, as they gasp in shock. “No way, there’s no way he has a girlfriend!” You look at Jaehyun, whose eyes are wide awake at your remark. “I-i.. uh... yeah, she is.” Your smile only gets wider when you thought that you won in front of the girls.
After the girls disappeared, both of you continued the walk to the shore, and here you both now, in front of the boat. “Uh, actually, I.. I said that I’m your.. girlfriend, to make them get away from you. Is that okay?” You asked him because the rest of the walk was filled with awkward silence and you hate awkward situations. “Yeah, uhm, it’s okay. Thank you for saving me, I guess...” He gives you a little smile.
As you both head to the fishing spot, you try to think of something to start a conversation. “I didn’t know you are that famous in this village.” Jaehyun looks at you, shaking his head in advance. “No.. I’m not.” Before silence takes over the small boat.
You sighed, “Why did you become so quiet? Are you upset about what I did earlier?” You asked frankly. He looks at you with an unpredictable expression, which makes you feel so anxious. He also sighed, before shifting himself closer to you. “Honestly, I was so shocked, when you said those words... I..I might’ve imagined if what you said was real.”
This time, it’s your turn to widen your eyes in shock. “What do you mean?” You asked with a tiny voice. “I might’ve hoped that it was real, too. But.. you are too far for me to reach. You actually are.. someone who I can’t just go and walk with, you are too far above me, Y/n.”
You look at him with disbelief, “What makes you think so? I am also a human, Jaehyun. The thing is, if we share something in common, we can be something more than this. What you imagined can be real, because I’ve been feeling the same too.”
“Really?” He asked, before you nodded and pull him into a delicate kiss. His hand slid behind you, holding you closer to his body. He loves the way you feel so sweet in his lips. The innocent kiss continues under the blazing sun, as the both of you close your eyes and forget everything at the moment.
That day becomes the happiest day in your whole life as you walk hand-in-hand with him, smiling as you both start to count the days as lovers.
It has been a month since you live with the Jungs and you’ve become pretty close with few people in the small village. Jaehyun introduced you to the villagers, and they loved you, except the girls who were in love with the most charming man in the village. He taught you a lot of life lessons, which made you want to stay near him longer.
You knew that both kingdoms of Southern and Northern are holding a big search for you around the domain, as not too long ago, Jaehyun and Yuno found a newspaper with you on the cover. That was how the family found out who you actually are, and to your surprise, they support you and want to protect you. They helped you put a disguise on yourself and let the villagers know you as a different person.
Sometimes, the southern guards and armies come to the village to check, but it’s quite hard for them to inspect the whole village because the villagers loathe them, since they became an independent village.
“We have to get in and check the whole area, you can’t forbid us when you don’t have any authority around here.” The chief withstand the higher-up when they stand against the village gate, resisting the armies to enter. “Have you forget? This area is not under the authority of the Southern, so why should we open the gate for your people? We had an agreement.”
You watched bitterly behind a big oak tree, curiously trying to find out what has been going in your kingdom. When you were about to leave the scene, you heard a familiar voice from the crowd. “Good afternoon, gentlemen.” You gasp, Prince Han?
You quickly run towards the Jung’s house, hurriedly looking for Jaehyun who turns out fishing in the ocean at the moment. You ignored Yuno’s concerned holler before locking yourself in your room. You feel your tears fall like a waterfall as your body shakes in fear. The trauma of him pulling your hand harshly, frequent shouting at your face, and threats over the kingdom are taking over your mental state.
Madam Jung knocks on your door, concerned by your weird act, presumably told by her youngest son. “Y/n, is everything alright? I’m here to help you, sweety.” When you heard her soothing voice, you moved to open the door. Madam Jung was startled when she saw you crying like a mess, but she remained calm as she makes the both of you sit on the edge of the bed. “What’s wrong? Will you tell me?”
“He’s here... he’s here.” You repeat the same words as they are the only thing in your head right now. Madam Jung doesn’t fully understand what you’re saying but she only hugs you to calm you down. A few moments later, Jaehyun rushes into the room, panting loudly like he just ran in the marathon. “Yuno told me something bad happened, what’s wrong?” He looks at his mother, and then you who’s crying loudly. Madam Jung shakes her head, having no clue about what happened that makes you shake in fear.
Jaehyun goes to take over you to his body, hugging you closer as you lean your whole weight on him, still trembling in fear. “Hey, it’s alright... I’m here for you, we’re here for you.” Jaehyun helps you breathe properly and you gain your calmness right away. You let out a big sigh, before looking up and trying to speak.
“Prince Han... he’s here. I saw him trying to convince the villagers to agree to the inspection. What if he found me, Jae? I’m scared.” He sighed, knowing that this kind of thing will happen as he knows that Prince Han is the most capable person in the country. “It’s alright, we’ll find a way. Do you believe in me?” You nod right away, for you believe that when you’re near him, everything will be alright.
Meanwhile, in front of the gate, the prince spotted you running away from the crowd. He actually saw you hiding behind the tall oak tree. It’s not Prince Han if he doesn’t have a pair of eagle eyes. He calculated every path you left while trying to convince the higher-ups to allow him to inspect the area.. “I’m not here with my men to wreck this beautiful independent village. I’m here to bring you fortunes. Would you like to have something in exchange? Come on, I know that this beautiful village will be happier if you get a little bit of power to your economy. Isn’t that right?”
After an exchange of advantages, the higher-ups let the armies enter the village. Prince Han and his horse immediately go towards the route you took that leads to the forest.
After discussing an alternative plan, Jaehyun decided to hide you in his boat, and sail you to a deserted island that he frequently visited during the fishing season. But Yuno informed him that the armies are getting near, so he decided to put you in the small basement of his house, which used to be a small boat workshop. He told Yuno to hide with you. So there you are, with Yuno under the darkness. You knew Yuno is not a quite brave kid, so you hugged him tightly, making sure that he feels safe.
After a while, Prince Han found the house in the middle of the woods. The first thing he saw was an elderly woman sitting on the front porch. He greeted the woman as he climbed down his horse. “What a good day, ma’am.”
Grandma Jung knows what to do, this is not something she unexpected. She greeted the prince warmly, like she used to receive a guest. “Hello, young man. What can I help you?”
“We’re having an inspection around this area, and allow me to introduce myself. I am Prince Han from the southern. I’m looking for a young woman who probably has come here, seeking for help. For she was poorly lost by an accident that happened around here a month ago. That woman is my lovely fiancé. May I perhaps, look around your house?”
Grandma Jung tries to act like she has no idea about it, “Oh, what a poor young man. We never had a guest nor someone seeking for help these past few months, but you can go inside.” Prince Han entered the house as soon as he got the permission. He checked through the house, but he found nothing. There were no traces of you that he could find, until he entered the last room upstairs. The room was filled with nothing but a shabby interior that he was about to close back the door until he spotted something shiny in the drawer.
He furrowed his eyebrows while approaching the old cupboard. He opened it and smiled in satisfaction. He found your tiara. He quickly excused himself out of the house before calling all of his men to leave the village, promising the higher-ups of the villagers to make his promise as soon as possible.
A week later, there is no army of the southern looking for you anymore, and your days become calmer than before. But being a protective lover ever, Jaehyun never brings you out of the house ever again, and madam Jung never brings you along with her to the field either. You spent your time playing with Yuno and doing housework.
Today, you were cleaning the front porch when Jaehyun prepared himself to go to the shore. “Be careful, alright?” You smiled as you put your hands around his waist, feeling his warmth against your body. “Yeah, I’ll take care of myself well. And you too, shall stay in the house and don’t go anywhere. Wait for me to come home, alright?”
You nod, “Alright, my prince.” He rubbed your nose against yours, before cupping your cheeks gently, and gives your forehead a peck. After he left the house, You get inside to play with Yuno as usual. You love your routine now for you used to live a dull life as in learning how to walk like a royal princess, and taking political lessons almost every day. But now, all you got to is doing fun activities, as in playing cards with Yuno, cleaning the house, and having a good deep talk with the grandparents.
You were about to take a nap upstairs when Yuno excused himself to go outside to play with his friends until you heard Yuno’s yells at the front door. You vaguely hear him scream, “No! Don’t enter the house, you bad guy! Ouch!” You immediately went to the noise until you freeze in your spot. The guy you feared the most is in front of you. “How’s life outside the palace? Fun? In this miserable place? Are you happy?”
You stutter upon seeing the mess in front of you. You look at Yuno on the floor as he cries in pain, possibly pushed down by the monster in front of you. “You don’t know what kind of mess you put into both of the kingdom, princess.” You ignored the threatening sounds coming out from his mouth. You think of what possibly happens if you keep insisting on being here. The possibility of this family getting hurt because of you, oh, you don’t want that.
You look at the prince’s eyes, begging him to give you mercy, but it looks like he won’t give you what you want. “T..take me with you.”
Yuno stops his crying, “No. Y/n! You shouldn’t go!” You look at Yuno with a sad smile, “No, Yuno. This is my time to go. Please tell your brother my goodbye. I’ll visit if I have time.” No, there will be no time. This is my end.
You surrender yourself to the prince’s hand as he takes you on his carriage. You glance at Yuno and the house for the last time. Maybe happiness and freedom was not meant for you. But the short moment you had there was a gift for you, and you couldn’t forget that forever. Your moments with Jaehyun, all the sweet kisses, and love you received from his warm family, there’s no way you could forget them.
Prince Han takes you straight away to the palace of the northern. The cold breezes blow against you as soon as you stepped out of the carriage, reminding you of how cold and dull your life used to be. You quiver in the cold, as the only thing you wear right now is only the summer dress madam Jung made for you. Prince Han noticed your trembling figure and decided to put a little stunt in front of the people who surrounded the place to see your arrival back to the kingdom.
He puts his coat around you, putting a fake smile as the people cheer for you both. Little did they know, the words he spat on you while he’s on his little sweet act, “Behave, little princess. Or I’ll show you what happened to bad girls since I’m the one who takes over the whole situation now.”
You tried to fake a smile in front of the people as they cheer loudly for you. You only watch bitterly as the spokesman announced your arrival loudly for everyone to hear. “The lost princess is brought safely by her fiancé, the prince of the southern!”
You were brought to the queen’s room, still trembling from the cold and also fear. You stare ahead as the guards open the door for you and you step into the room, timidly presenting yourself. “Mother...” you quietly uttered.
The queen turned herself quietly, while you expect a harsh slap on your cheeks. You close your eyes tightly, head hanging low to the ground, waiting for words spat in your face. But instead, you were wrapped in a big hug. You feel your mother’s tears on your shoulder as she starts to sob on your shoulder. You open your eyes slowly, trying to absorb the surprising moment.
“My daughter, my child.. oh my sweet daughter. I’m so sorry for what happened to you. You’re the only family I have in this huge palace. Don’t ever get lost again... please.” You start crying as soon as you listen to her wailing. “Mother.. I’m back..”
“Thank you for coming back alive, my dear...” The queen mumbled. You nod, feeling relieved that finally, your mother accepted you for who you are. “I’m sorry, mother. I’m sorry...” You cried harder in her arms like a little baby. You feel your mother shakes her head lightly, slowly turning your head to face her directly.
“No, don’t say sorry. While you’re gone, I have reflected on what I’ve been doing to my own daughter, and I was really terrible.” She paused before crying again, “From now on, Let it be your own happiness that happens, dear. Let’s pursue it together, that’s the most important part. I will love you with my whole life as a mother.”
“I will not lose you again, my dear.” Your mother finished the heartwarming reunion with a tight hug, and that day, you finally eternally full.
Meanwhile, outside the door, Prince Han was listening to the whole conversation and he felt like something bad will happen. He was not going to let that happen.
The first week of coming back as the royal princess was great, you start doing what you like to do. The queen lets you learn things that she used to strictly forbid you to do. However, even though you’re doing what makes you happy, you still feel somehow empty. Yeah, you’ve been missing him. Jung Jaehyun, and also the little warm family. You never separated officially from him, so you wonder how he’s been doing and if he misses you too.
It has been bothering you so much that you start to space out during breakfast and dinner. The queen clear her throat to wake you up, and you flinch from that. “What makes you look so bothered? You’ve been out of place lately.” You pucker your lips in response, sighing loudly. “I really want to tell you this, but please don’t get angry.”
The queen nods in agreement, she smiled widely at how you’re eager to tell her something. “Whatever it is, I’m listening.” You fold your hands on the table, preparing the words to say to your mother. “So, when the carriage toppled over and I lost my consciousness, someone saved me and brought me to his house.” Your mother cuts you off, “His? As in, a man?” You pouted once again, “Yeah, but hear me out first.”
“So, his name is Jung Jaehyun, and he was a little bit older than me. His family welcomed me very well, and I got close to his little brother as well. I helped the family as in fishing in the ocean and grinding the rice in the field. Amazing, right? For the first time, I lost my trauma in the ocean, and I also know how to fish!” You tell her excitedly.
She nods as she gently caresses your head, admiring your experience while you were out of the palace. “You were what? Fishing in the ocean and.. grinding the rice in the field? Terrific!”
“Yeah, mother. But the thing is, after knowing him for almost a month, we shared romantic feelings towards each other...” you uttered.
“You what?” The queen tries to get a hold of herself when she heard your shocking story. “Uh, so... did you date him?” You nod slowly. “Mother, he was the man I’ve been looking for. I love him. And every time he’s near me, I feel like my heart is about to burst. Even talking about him now makes my heart race like crazy.”
The queen adores your happy smile, witnessing how you fall in love reminds her that you’re no longer her baby, but an adult. An adult who can find her own true love. “Do you really love him?”
You blinked after hearing the question. What does this mean? “Yeah, mother. I love him so much. But if marrying the southern prince brings you happiness then I will-” The queen cuts you off. “No, let’s reverse that sentence, shall we? If being with that lovely young man brings you happiness, then I will let you be with him.”
Your jaw drops as if it falls and start touching the ground. You hold the neck of your fur coat tightly, while looking at your mother in disbelief. “Is that true, mother?” To your surprise, you didn’t hear it wrong as the queen nods in admission. “Oh, thank you mother, thank you very much! I love you!” You went to hug her while both of you laugh in happiness.
Two days passed and today is probably the best day for you, for the queen has decided to grant your wish to visit the independent village. You decided to bring the Jungs some gifts. You brought Yuno a cute royal summer outfit and your hand-baked pie. You brought Jaehyun a new and modern fishing kit, even though you went through a hard time looking for them, as the northern kingdom rarely fish in the ocean.
You excitedly step into the carriage, along with the queen. You hold her hand tightly, thanking her for granting your biggest wish. As the horses are running along with the carriage, you feel your heart beating very quickly. Finally, we’ll meet.
The carriage stops in front of the small house. You look around as the tall trees bring you a lot of memories. “Finally...” you mumbled. The horseman opened the door for you and seconds after you stepped out of the carriage excitedly. “It’s kinda hot in here..” The queen mumbled. She takes off her fur coat to adjust well in the semi-tropical weather. “Trust me, mother. The weather is so refreshing! We can feel the sun every day here!”
Yuno goes outside after hearing all the noise. His eyes widen upon seeing your arrival. “Y/n!!!!” He came running to you like he used to do every time you woke up in the morning. “Yuno! Oh, you don’t know how much I miss you!” Yuno hugs you tightly, as if he doesn’t want to lose you again. The queen smiled upon seeing your interaction with the little boy. “Oh, Yuno. Allow me to introduce the graceful woman we have right here, my mother.”
“Oh my god, the queen of the northern!” Both Yuno and his mother scream in delight. You didn’t even notice her standing in front of the door with shocks drawn all over her face. “Oh my god, Yuno. We shall bow to the queen.” Your mother holds madam Jung’s hands to prevent her from bowing, just like what you did to Jaehyun when you told him that you’re a princess. “No, don’t bow to us, for we don’t deserve it. Please take my gratitude for saving and taking care of my daughter while she was out of the palace. Here’s a little gift from us.”
Your mother ordered the horseman to take out every present you brought for the family, as madam Jung starts thanking the queen in advance. While the two are chatting like they already know each other for a long time, you feel yourself blushing hard even though Jaehyun is still not on your sight. You turn to Yuno, “Where is he?”
“Oh, he’s fishing like usual. He might be back in half an hour.”
And half an hour later, You feel his presence even before he reached the front porch. You run towards him, your smile only gets wider when you saw his startled expression. “Jung Jaehyun!” You shouted happily. But as strange as it might look like, but there is no sign that he looks happy to see you. The expression on his face remains flat. But you set aside the negative thoughts, maybe he was just tired, or maybe he just couldn’t believe that you’re here.
You immediately wrapped your arms around him, hugging him tightly that he feels like he can’t breathe. “I miss you...” you mumbled against his chest. You feel his hands wrapping themselves around you as well, before he pulls you out of his body. “Hey, I.. I, uh, didn’t expect you to be here.” You were taken back by the fact that he pushed you off, but the need to tell him everything takes over all of your questions as you smile widely at him.
“So, that was how my mother agreed to us being together. She also agreed to come here to meet you and your family. Oh, you don’t know how happy I am!” You told him excitedly.
He gives you a small smile, nodding lightly. “I see. But, hear me out, Y/n. On the day you disappeared, when I found out that you surrendered yourself to safe my brother, I did a lot of thinking.” There are thousands of expressions in his face which you couldn’t identify, but you decided to listen first. “What did you think of?”
“I think of how you’d live without me, you can be happy without me on your side. I realized that you’re no longer a person I can reach out as I please. Besides, you already have a perfect life in the palace, your mother finally loves you for who you are, and accepted you no matter what kind of person you are. I can’t protect you, Y/n. That gives me more reason for why I can’t get near you.”
As he explained, your tears fall along with your quivering lips. “Jae, I thought we talked about this. I said we can happen.” You shake your head vigorously, feeling broken that he wasn’t that excited after seeing you. “Please don’t tell me that kind of words, Jae. That is not right, cause I love you! I know that you-”
“No, Y/n. Don’t let me repeat myself. We can’t be together. I’m so sorry, Y/n, but maybe we just weren’t meant to be.”
Jaehyun gets up from the seat, ready to leave you. You get up as well, “You said we’ll find a way, and you told me to believe in you.” You cried hard for him to hear you. He turns his head to you, “That won’t work anymore.” He said coldly before leaving you alone.
That day, you went back home sobbing in the arms of your mother. Telling your mother that the love of your life no longer needs you, hurts the hell out of you. But even though the chapter of Jung Jaehyun just ended in the way that you don’t like it, the memories remain fresh in your mind. He remains beautiful in your heart.
Meanwhile, after leaving you alone to go further into the woods, Jaehyun gives himself time to break down. Holding out his emotions absorbed a lot of his energy, especially when he saw you crying. He really held himself for not hugging you right away, and tell you he was only lying. But he couldn’t do that. He’s more than nothing to even be allowed to touch you. His heart craves for you, but reality makes a great wall between himself and you, and there’s nothing he can do about it.
A month after visiting the independent village, your life has never been the same. Every day, minute, and second reminds you of him. But now, you have your own fight. A fight against the southern’s crown prince. You recently called off the engagement and he was so angry. The whole parliament of the kingdom agreed that a future queen doesn’t have to marry another kingdom’s heir. So, it’s safe to say the southern prince had a big grudge against you.
Today, another big news come to your ears like you were hit by a baseball bat. “What?” You stand up from your seat. “Did I hear it wrong, mother? You hired what?”
Your mother cringe in nervousness, “I think it might be a good decision to bring him close to you. Besides, he’s the one who agreed. I only asked once, and he answered yes right away. And it’s a good thing too because he’s the right person to be your personal guard.”
“Mother, he literally said that we can’t be together, why would he want to be near me. This is weird.” You put your finger on your chin, thinking hard even though you can’t help but get excited. “I probably should prepare for his arrival, don’t you think?” You leave the dining room running excitedly as your mother laughs at your silliness.
The reason why he accepted the offer to be your personal guard was because of the help of the queen when his mother fell sick. He can’t go to the ocean anymore, the cost to bring his mother to the healer was more than what he’d achieve in a year. The second reason was because he wants to be near you. Keeping you safe may not be a regular job for him, it was like his dream. So, to accept the offer was an easy thing for him.
After telling Yuno what to do to take care of their little family, he goes to the northern kingdom with a hidden excitement. Nevertheless, he knows that he should hide his lingering feelings towards you. He should keep being aware of the difference between himself and you, and that the reality wall will never disappear even though he’s being close to you.
Arrived at the palace, he stared at how huge and majestic the palace is. He was welcomed by the head of the palace security guards and immediately escorted to know what to do with his important job. “Your job is to keep the princess’ safety 24/7. You have to stay near her even at night, and follow her everywhere to keep her safe. The queen didn’t officially tell us the details, but maybe you can get the detail from the princess or the queen. That’s all.”
So he ended up in the queen’s office, standing nervously as the queen smiled at him. “Well, your job is to keep my daughter safe of all time. That’s easy. But what I want for you to do was actually to be her companion. Is that even easier?”
Jaehyun promised with all his life that he would keep you safe and also, be a good companion for you. It’s an easy job for him cause he would eventually do it without getting paid.
“Jung Jaehyun...” His name was the first thing out of your mouth the moment he came to see you in the quiet garden. Jaehyun gives you a smile you couldn’t identify, because the last time you saw him, he looked like he doesn’t want to catch a look on you. And now, he’s waving to you beautifully, and as he walks closer in your direction, everything feels like a dream.
“You’re really here,” you muttered as he now stands in front of you. You tried so hard not to wrap your arms around his built body, scared that if you do that, he’ll run away again from you.
“Yeah, I’m really here, princess. I’m here to guard you, protecting you from whatever that could possibly hurt you.” He keeps smiling at you, which makes your lips curved up into a smile as well. Jaehyun leans onto you until he reach the side of your ear. “Even roaches and insects, I’ll protect you from them, princess.” He whispered before laughing softly.
He looks at your glassy eyes, a frown starts to grow on his face. “Y/n, I’m sorry about what I said to you. Would you... forgive me?”
You ignored his apology, but instead, “You said we can’t work. You said you can’t get near me. I think you owe me an explanation.”
Jaehyun’s eyelids stutter as he tried to look away from you. “I don’t think I can tell you, Y/n.”
“You do know that I’m quite the person ruling both kingdoms. While you here, is nothing but a powerless piece of trash. So, clean all your dreams to be with the princess. You might’ve saved her life, but nothing do you have to be with her, to even get near her. Don’t ever dream about it. As you already know, I can crush anybody who restrain my will, even her.”
You frown, “Another rejection, I see.”
He takes your hand in his, “Forgive me, your highness.”
You look at him with doe eyes, trying hard not to smile while you feel his delicate touch on the back of your palm. “How can I stay mad at you? I eventually prepared something for your arrival.”
Jaehyun squeezes your hands as a smile grows on his face, “Thank goodness. Now, may I embrace you, your highness?” You smile widely as you voluntarily wrap your arms tightly around his waist, face pressed against his chest as he wraps his arms around you as well, giggling softly. “I’ve been missing you, princess.”
“I don’t care about whatever you said to me that day, Jae. All is well now that you’re in my arms. Don’t ever leave me again, my guardian.”
“I’ll keep you safe, princess.”
“Then all is well, indeed.”
You woke up with a smile on your face. Stretching your body to erase all the stiffness of your body, for you slept in the same position. “Good morning, Shirley, Sergei, and my love, Ella.” You went forward to your cats, and they gladly accepted your presence in the peaceful morning.
“You know what, babies, my prince charming is here. Oh, no, not that boring and abusive prince. My true prince, Jung Jaehyun, in case you all want to remember his name.”
After changing into your usual warm fluffy coat, you immediately walk to your door. As soon as you stepped out of your room, you were greeted by a luscious smile. “Good morning, your highness.” You smile upon seeing him, and then you were instantly reminded of what you want to do while he’s here. “Come in, before anyone sees,” you muttered before pulling him into your room and close your door.
“Uh, your highness, I don’t think I can enter this room as I please.”
“It’s alright, you always have my permission. So, I need you to wear this.” You hand him the beautiful coat you’ve prepared for him. “You’ll have to wear more coats from now on. Oh, my poor baby, you’re gonna miss the beautiful weather back in your hometown.” You cup his cheek with one hand, brushing your hand gently on it.
“Thank you, although you’ll always be my warmth.” He paused as he pulls you closer to his body and embrace you in a warm hug, making the fancy fireplace in your room lose it’s point to Jaehyun’s own warmth. “Did you sleep well?”
You nod softly as your head leans comfortably on his shoulder.
The first week with Jaehyun being at the palace brings you all the happiness you never knew you needed. The queen herself was very well aware of this. She regrets nothing by recruiting the most important person for her daughter to be her own guard. It’s all for you, as the queen said.
You attended every royal lesson with Jaehyun, and he keeps company with you in your other classes too. And with him always by your side, means that attending political meetings with your mother is also fun. Like when you both sneaked out of the party, hands tangled to each other, running towards a little private balcony you discovered earlier.
“The meeting was so utterly boring,” you muttered. Jaehyun only smiles, “Well, I couldn’t agree more, Y/n. At this point, I might as well say that I’m quite glad that I’m not a royal.”
“I know right,” you replied as you rest your head in your hand boringly.
“Well, you’re gonna bear with it more when you become a queen.”
You give him a look, before agreeing in advance. “Well, you’re not wrong. But you’ll bear it along with me though, future king.”
“Future king?” He stuttered. You nod as you hum, “Will be you be my king?”
Jaehyun lets out a small laugh, “Really? Though it should be me asking you that, I would. I would, my princess.” He took your delicate hand and brought it up exactly under his chin, before pressing a tender kiss on it.
You flash a smile upon his acceptance, before step ahead to embrace him lovingly. “Please stay with me, jae.”
Well, as if a month of happiness couldn’t be enough for you, the prince of the south returns to the palace, equipped with his dreary winter coat, and a few of his men trailing behind him. You stopped him in the hallway, with Jaehyun staying right behind to you to prevent unwanted things to happen before you speak up, “Why are you here? I thought our business was done.”
Prince Han scoffs as he gives Jaehyun an unacquainted look. “Don’t worry, princess. This is not something that goes between you and me. This matter goes between the kingdoms.”
You could sense anything bad from his return, and it’s not gonna be about you. “Having a new companion, I see..” He muttered and you blink in nervousness. It turns out that your fear of the abusive prince still exists as sweats start coming out around the surface of your palms.
Prince Han left with his men straight to the conference room, where the queen already expected him. Jaehyun immediately goes next to you, “Princess, are you alright?” He brings your vision to him only, making sure that you’re aware that you’re safe. Your eyes quiver at the thought of something bad happening to either you or Jaehyun. “He’s back...” you mumbled.
Jaehyun tries to soothe you back while giving supports through his eyes. He closes the distance between you both to make your breathing steady again. “Hey, listen to me. Everything will be alright. Do you believe in me?” He asked slowly.
You listen to his voice, eyes glued to his, before you breathe normally again. “Yeah, Jaehyun, I believe in you.” He hugs you tightly without crushing your delicate figure. “Everything will be alright,” he whispered gently.
After the conference ended, you went straight to your mother, who had a blue expression on her face. You sit next to her, gulping your saliva anxiously. “Mother, may I know what acquires a conference between you and the southern kingdom?” You asked carefully. The queen gives you a look, and then a sudden dread smile. “Mother?”
“I have both great and bad news for you, my daughter,” she uttered.
“Tell me the great one first.” you replied.
“Our kingdom has been struggling with armies and territories. Now that we ended our marriage agreement, we lost a lot of things as benefits to the kingdom. But the southern king has just informed me, that they needed our help as well. The agreement will no longer be a marriage, but additions of men and machines.”
“That’s good, mother. That means no one’s getting hurt, right? By no one, I mean-”
The queen cuts you right away with a frown. “And here comes the bad news, my dear.” You flashed her a look before proceeding to listen.
“I told the crown prince that we’re fine by adding some of our best men and also recruiting as many people as possible from our country. But then, I realized, one of our best men is..”
“Jaehyun, is it? No, mother. I won’t allow it to happen. He just got trained within a month, how is he supposed to go into the war?” You argued. “I know, dear, I’m very well aware that he was only recruited to keep you safe. But, we’re in a crisis, honey, and you know his capability. Becoming the number one between those senior guards only in a month, isn’t that amazing? You should consider letting him go, my dear.” The queen paused. “I asked nothing from you, my daughter, but only to put your trust in him.”
You shook your head in denial, before a familiar voice bursts into the room. “The queen’s right, your highness.” Jaehyun bowed at the queen before turning himself to you. “But, Jaehyun..”
“She’s right, all you need to do is to trust me. You said you believe in me, didn’t you? He gives you a glazed look and you waver at the thought of letting him go into the war with the southern prince. You immediately head to his side, “I trust you, but.. you should never get hurt, jae. I don’t want to lose you.” you muttered against his chest.
He pats your back gently, while feeling a little bit embarrassed to hug the princess in front of her royal family. “Remember what I said, sweetheart, everything will be alright.”
As Jaehyun won the argument that day, you eventually prepare for his departure. You provide him with food, self-care, even some comfortable clothes. You still pack some of the things he would need, when Jaehyun plays with your cats. “At this rate of care, you will see that my fellow troops will get jealous at me.” He scoffed. “Quiet down, young man. As I said, it’s either you’d leave this place with these, or you stay safe here with me, my future king.”
“Yes, ma’am.”
You smiled after making sure he has the things packed well before you let him depart with the men. You walk towards the end of the bed, and Jaehyun immediately goes next to you as you sit with a particular pose. “You’re going to leave me for months, don’t you think you should leave something important in me?” you uttered.
Jaehyun tilts his head, puzzled at your suggestion. “What should I leave in you?”
“Marks. Claim me as yours tonight, my future king. Tell me that this will not be our first and last, jae.” You leans closer to him, and a coy smile draws upon his face. “As you wish, my princess.”
At dawn, you awakened with the touch of him putting the blanket on your bare figure. You blinked in drowsiness, before coming into a realization that he has to leave in a moment. You quickly rise from your bed and grab your night rope. “Jae,” you called his name with a raspy voice before wrapping your arms around him tightly. “Ouch, I..I can’t breathe, princess.” He cackled as he hugs you back delicately.
“Please return safely. We’re all waiting for you here. I love you,” you uttered.
Jaehyun nods against the nape of your head. “I’ll come back to you, my home. I love you too.” A tear slips out of his tears, as he feels somehow fearful and worried, like any other human being. “I believe in you, Jae.”
With that, he left with your kisses in his cheeks, and you only look anxiously from your balcony, praying so hard to whoever up there to let him make it out alive.
“Raise up your appetite, dear. You shouldn’t live like this.” The queen uttered. You heave a sigh, putting down your spoon to stop playing with your food. “I’m sick of waiting, mother. I need to know if he’s safe, and.. alive.” You lowered your voice while mentioning the word ‘alive’, a word that you apparently despise these days.
“Don’t worry, my child. Jaehyun is a strong warrior, he’s not the number one for nothing.” The queen goes to your side as you sob miserably at the thought of missing him. “I miss him, mother.” “I know, dear. I know,” the queen kissed the top of your head while muttering words to soothe your restless figure.
As the time passes on quickly, you distract yourself from the thought of Jaehyun by taking care of some of the royal cases. You attended every boring conferences you told Jaehyun about, and ended up reminiscing how he would bring you water and roses to help you relax. You also attended every archery classes, and would end up getting reminded of how he would help you straighten your back while aiming the target, about how his hands linger on you.
You’re very well aware that you’re gonna be pretty much insane if you don’t hear about him in less than a month, but you kept your patience, and so, two months passed along with your struggle.
You run past every man who just came back from the war field, looking for one particular man between all of them. “Jaehyun.. Jae?” You call out his name, but no one answers. You kept looking for his figure until the person you didn’t wish to see stopped in front of you. You narrow your eyes at the sight of him, but you know that he actually can give you the information you needed.
“Prince Han, w-where’s he? Is he coming late or? Tell me, please.”
He dragged you to somewhere quiet until you brushed him aside. “Just get straight to the point. Why can’t I find him anywhere?”
Prince Han looked at you with a sorrowful look, before he opens his mouth. “I’m sorry for you, princess. But, he’s not coming back.”
Your entire world seems to collapse the moment he uttered those words. Your head starts to spin like you were hit by a dangerous storm. “Impossible,” you mumbled.
“No, there’s no way he couldn’t survive- I..he-” you stuttered as words can’t seem to get into your head. Prince Han holds you closer to his frame, as he watched in agony. “Jae.. my jae,” you mumbled against his chest while sobs flowing throughout your eyes.
He pats your back gently as guilt start to surround his guts. Now that he watched you mourn to someone who’s not him, he knows that you truly love that person.
Days turned into weeks, and weeks turned into months. You never imagined that you would pass any more weeks than you’ve expected. Everything felt unreal for you, it’s like you’re living in a nightmare. You crave for him every night, yearning for his touch, just like when you said that night. Was that really your last time with him? You can’t even conceive it anymore.
The day when you and the queen went to his family’s house was the worst. You fell down to your knees, begging for the family’s forgiveness. You swore you’d kill yourself when you saw Yuno crying over his brother. You couldn’t even look at her in the eyes when his mother told you to get up, saying that all of these was his choice, and that Jaehyun would be sad if he saw all of you cry over him.
You took the whole family to live at the palace, as an act of apology. Day by day passed as you’d watch over Yuno, your new companion, every day. A little version of him, you would say. You hang around Yuno at the library every night, the both of you would end up crying whenever Yuno told you stories of his brother’s little habit.
Today is the day when you have to truly let go of him, as you built a warrior statue of him, as a mark of remembrance, that he would always live in your heart. You bring the whole family behind you to put some beautiful flowers over the statue. You walk ahead with Yuno, him holding a bucket of fresh white Lilies.
After a small mourning event, you kindly requested everyone to leave you alone near the statue. You immediately fall to your knees when everyone departed away. “You said you’d come back. You broke your promise again, you fool.” You smile through all the tears that flow like a waterfall on your cheeks.
You put the last flower on top of the other flowers. “You’ll forever live in my heart, Jae.” Your shoulders shake as loud sobs start to be heard.
“I’m sorry.” A familiar raspy voice appeared like a fantasy. You scoff, “Even now you sound real too, I should be imagining things, right?” You look at the flowers as you wipe your tears harshly.
“Y/n,” he called again. “No, don’t be like this, Y/n. He’s not here and you’re just imagining things-”
Before you know it, a pair of hands wrapped you in hug tight. Your eyes widen in shock, as you recognize his scent. “J-jaehyun?” you muttered slowly.
He let go, before looking straight at your round orbs. “Yeah, I’m here. I’m alive, my darling.” A tear rolled out of his eyes, and you swear that everything around you stops in a moment. You keep your eyes still in his disheveled look, afraid that the moment you blink, he’ll disappear. “How? Are you... are you real?” You asked.
Jaehyun nods gently. “I’m here, baby. I came home. I’m sorry I arrived late.”
You break into a loud sobs, as if a hundred kilo of weights are being lifted from your back. You hug him tightly, afraid of him leaving again. “You, evil little thing! You made us all worried. Please don’t ever scare me like this again.” You sob while hitting him lightly, throwing all of your sorrow to him. He stayed still while receiving his little ‘punishment’, before stopping you by pressing his lips into you.
“I’m sorry.” He mumbled. “Are you okay? Are you hurt? Oh my god, look at your arms, there are bruises everywhere,” you babbled when you check out his disheveled figure. “Let’s get you treated,” you uttered.
Jaehyun gives you a small look as he wraps his arms around you once again, “You don’t even know how happy I am to come back to you, my home.”
After getting him treated, the queen held a fest to celebrate his return. You also held a little celebration with him and Yuno. And that night where you dressed up as the white queen swan and him as your white king swan, as always, the both of you sneak out of the party, bringing a lot of snacks and drinks to enjoy the night alone, away from the crowds.
He told you everything about how he ended up in a puddle of mud, and how his life flashed before him when he was dying. He also explained how some people found him and helped him until he was ready to go back.
“I miss those times when we’d stare at the starry sky. I miss your hometown, the village was so lovely.”
Jaehyun nods, “I miss wearing my loose shirt and carrying my toil and sail through the ocean.” You give him a look, “Do you want to go back? Let’s go to the small island you told me.”
He cups your cheeks delicately, “Anywhere with you sounds right, baby.”
You peck his tempting plump lips, and you both spend the night filling all the moments he was away from you. Now that he’s back in your arms, which is his home, he gladly told you that this is not going to be your last.
Years later, you both vowed after the preacher with a long-lasting marriage kiss, before the queen crowned you as her heir, as the next queen, alongside with Jaehyun as your king. He’ll be by your side forever, no matter what happens, as a part of your happily ever after.

The Profit & Love Statement » Pt. 12
↠ Pairing: Seokjin x Reader
↠ Genre: Fluff, Comedy, Angst
↳ 6.4k / Office AU (lowkey E2L vibes)
↠ Summary: The workplace isn’t for everyone. It can be mundane and repetitive, with some describing it like a nuisance and others as a blessing. You’re the kind that leans more towards the latter and while it does make you an ideal candidate for many things, nothing could have prepared you for the whirlwind that is the new employee.
↠ Warnings: borderline fake dating au, so much bickering, a whole lot of confusion and chaos
↠ A/N: We've reached the half point for the series! From here on, things are going to move forward very fast.
↠ Next Update: Tuesday, September 19 (series masterpost here)
“Would you like some bags for your groceries?”
“Huh?” You whirl around to see the cashier has already scanned all of your belongings, gazing at you with expectant eyes. You immediately nod with a small smile, and she turns, taking out a handful of plastic bags before assisting you with bagging the items.
After wishing you a nice day, you collect the bags with one hand and check the time on your phone with the other, showcasing that it was around 7pm.
Luckily with the looming threat of paying your rent resolved, things had finally started shifting to the brighter side for you. Your work life had been especially better, with Soyou noticing your efforts more than she ever did after you took on the role of training Seokjin. As a result, you felt like your spirits had been brought up and decided to head out for some groceries straight after work this Friday evening.
You walk out of the store with a giant grin, heading over to the bus stop to get home. However, something catches your eye.
There’s a young woman leaning down, a small bump on her stomach that she holds as she tries to pick up her fallen bags. Your eyes widen and you put your phone away, walking over in an instant.
Bending down, you retrieve the bags and hand them over to her.
“Oh my god, thank you so much.” She latches onto your arm in pure relief, “I was okay in the store, but then the bags just slipped out of my hands and–“
Her breath hitches upon looking up. Your brows contort, eyes concentrating on her features.
She blurts out a name in recognition.
“Y/N?”
You blink, taken aback. “Do we know each other?”
“Y/N, right? Y/N L/N.” She points out, “You majored in business, back at East College?”
Your eyes are as wide as ever, recognition hitting you like a truck.
“Wait, Miyeon?” You whisper in astonishment, only to watch her eyes brighten. She propels herself forward, tackling you into a hug.
“Oh my god, it is you, Y/N!” Although you’re still suspended in shock, you raise your arms to hug her back, “It’s been so long! How have you been?!”
“I’ve been alright.” You chuckle underneath your breath. “I never thought I would run into you here.”
Miyeon lets go of you with a giggle and you warmly smile.
All the memories were coming back piece by piece. You had met her back in your college days, having gone quickly from mere acquaintances to friends. However, as the handles of time progressed and you had gotten accepted into your internship, you had soon departed from college without another look back.
But from the warm glow she emits, you can tell things haven’t changed much. “Were you planning to take the bus?” You wonder, still gripping onto her bags.
“Oh, no! I actually live nearby and wanted to go on a walk, but then I saw they had peaches on sale and couldn’t resist.” She lightly laughs and you grin.
“Which direction do you live in?” You ponder, “I can walk you back if you’d like.”
Her eyes brighten. “Of course, I’d love to catch up!” She points towards the pathway, “I live a couple of houses down from here.”
You grin. “Well then, lead the way.”
***
Trailing behind Miyeon, there’s two sets of bags within your hands – both your own and hers. Miyeon had continuously insisted that you’d let her hold something, but you simply waved it off and told her it was alright. You were keen on catching up with her, surprised to find out an interesting tidbit she reveals.
“You got married?” You ask, and she furiously nods, flashing the ring on her third finger.
“It was around roughly three years ago,” Her hands come around to rest on her belly, “And we’re expecting our first child in four months.”
“I’m so happy for you, Miyeon...” From her smile to the brightness in her eyes, you can tell she’s overfilled with joy. “Your husband is lucky to have you.”
“Oh, please.” She waves off the compliment, fondly smiling. “He’s great and all, but sometimes his confidence and self-praises makes him so full of himself, you know?”
A laugh escapes her, “–but at times I feel like I’ve gotten lucky with him. He’s just so sweet and kind, Y/N.”
A smile tugs at the corner of your lips. “What about you? How have you been?”
“Oh, I got accepted into an internship right out of college and stayed there for a while.” Your irises shift, a lopsided smile on your lips. “Unfortunately right after, my parents got into an accident and passed away.”
Her eyes enlarge. “I-I’m so sorry to hear that.”
Your smile strains. “It was really difficult the first couple of months, but then I had bills and a younger sister to look after. Thankfully, I soon got my current job and I’ve been working there ever since.”
Now that you’re stating it out loud, it’s a little strange to hear how different your route was from Miyeon out of college. Both of you were the same age, and graduated around the same time, but instead of having life milestones like getting married or having a family on your checklist, you were occupied with simply surviving and ensuring that Yuna could be happy to your best ability.
You’re incredibly happy for her, but in a way, it feels like you’ve missed out.
“I think it’s incredible you were able to stay strong during such hard times.” Your eyes snap over to her somber expression. “Where are you working now?”
“Oh, I–“
The words die in your throat.
Your line-of-sight strays away, pupils rounding as they land on the humongous property in front of you.
The ‘house’ Miyeon indicated is actually an expansive mansion – with a handful of luxurious cars parked in the lengthened driveway, a tended to garden outside and a sidewalk littered with precious stones.
It has you gaping like a fish and Miyeon peers over at you. “Y/N?”
“Huh?” You snap out of your awe-filled daze, glancing at Miyeon who doesn’t even seem fazed from the place.
You point towards it with a shaky finger. “T-This is where you live?”
She warmly smiles, “Yeah, it is! Nice, isn’t it?”
Nice? More like it’s the most luxurious place you’ve ever seen and can afford to be near.
Before you can say anything else, Miyeon gestures to the bags in your hands. “Why don’t we head inside?”
You gulp, slowly nodding and following Miyeon meekly into the house.
The moment you step in, you’re struck with even more awe.
The ceiling is up high, a gorgeous silver chandelier hanging down from the spiralling staircase below it. From the bottom, you can see the multiple rooms the wooden doors lead into and the floor is spotless, appearing like it was made out of the finest of marble.
“Come on.” Miyeon gestures, and you trail behind her like a helpless puppy.
Surprisingly enough, the kitchen seems to be the only place that looks the most normal. It’s reminiscent of one you would have in your own home – a few countertops with a stove and a fridge tucked away in the corner. Miyeon heads straight for it, taking the bag filled with peaches and placing them inside.
She peeks out from the fridge as you cautiously slip into a chair next to the counter. “Oh, you never told me where you’ve been working!”
Realizing it’s when you stumbled on your words, you clear your throat and focus back in.
“I work at Kim Electronics.”
Miyeon pauses, closing the fridge door completely and staring at you with wide eyes.
A small smile tugs at her mouth as she repeats your words. “You…work at Kim Electronics?”
You hum, “You must have heard about it.”
Miyeon sheepishly chuckles, like she knew something you didn’t. “The same Kim Electronics who didn’t do so well on their last product and their CEO is planning to retire?”
“Uh, yeah…” You quirk your head to the side, knowing that only someone who kept on track with the company would only know those facts. “Do you work there?”
She shakes her head with a grin, letting you in on a certain tidbit that has the air leaving from your lungs, “No, but my husband is the son of the CEO.”
“Y-Your husband…?”
“Yep.” She giggles, reaching out to clasp onto your hands. “Aw, this is wonderful Y/N! I can’t believe you’re working at the company now.”
“Y-Yeah…i-it’s great…” You stutter out.
Your mind is complete chaos, wracking around for any mention of your dear intern telling you he was married or was expecting a child. But then it occurs to you that aside from knowing who Seokjin’s father was, there was nothing surrounding his personal life that ever came into topic.
Miyeon grins at you and although you reciprocate her actions, but there’s only more and more questions blooming from you at the discovery.
You end up spending a couple of hours at Miyeon’s house, still having your mind spin around the revelation. However, when the sky turns dark outside and you realize how much time has passed, you decide it’s time that you head on home.
But the moment the door opens, there’s bullets of heavy rain splashing down.
“Great…” You mumble, avertedly glancing around. Miyeon appears behind, wide eyes taking in the scenery.
“That doesn’t look so good…” She whispers, turning to you. “Will you be okay?”
“It’s fine, a little rain won’t hurt anyone.” You take a step out, holding an umbrella within your hand. The rain hits against it, splattering off.
“See? It’s not so bad.” You take a step out, glancing at Miyeon.
Thunder roars, electricity sparking through the clouds as the wind picks up.
You immediately jolt, shoulders hitching up.
Miyeon reaches out, tugging you back in with concern deep in her eyes. “Why don’t you just stay for the night? You don’t have work tomorrow, right?”
She was right – it was supposed to be your day off tomorrow and you were keen on taking some of the time to spend with Yuna, who you haven’t been able to see much of lately thanks to work.
Speaking of which, she’s the one factor that shifts your reasoning. “My sister is by herself at home…”
Miyeon’s eyes round. “Oh.”
Your pupils linger again outside. Truthfully, the weather was absolutely awful outside and there was no way you could go back in this weather to catch a bus.
With a sigh, you turn to her. “Let me give her a call and see.”
Miyeon nods and heads back into the kitchen as you plant the phone against your cheek. Yuna picks up on the second ring and after you tell her about the situation, the first thing on your mind are her thoughts.
“It’s really bad out there.” You mention, “Would you be okay if I came back in the morning?”
“I think I’ll be fine.” Yuna replies.
You hum, glancing at another flash of lightning strikes through the sky. “Remember what I always tell you–“
“Keep the door locked and have dinner on time.” Yuna states. “I know already Y/N, don’t worry.”
You let out a relieved exhale with a smile. “I’ll see you tomorrow then.”
Turning the phone off, you swivel around to see Miyeon curiously darting her eyes over.
You shrug, “Looks like I’m staying for the night.”
***
The heavy weather dwindles into the night and at one point the thunder pulls a flinch out of you. After having dinner together, Miyeon guides you towards one of the guest bedrooms that you gratefully take, but your eyes are substantially wider at seeing the room.
It’s about twice the size of the one you have at home, paired with wide windows whose length just showcase the ill weather outside. The bed looks like it can accommodate at least three people and is lined with fur pillows and draped with satin dark teal sheets.
She mentions that she can get someone to drop you off in the morning and after giving you some clothes for the night, you easily slip into bed and stare at the ceiling. Everything from the house down to the bedrooms feels incredibly foreign for you, like you weren’t meant to be here in the first place.
Thankfully those thoughts don’t dwell through the later parts of the night and within an hour, you find the stress slipping away and yourself relaxing.
Sunlight pours through the now clear clouds, seeping into the windows and reflecting onto the green sheets you’re wrapped up in. You stir when its rays meet your eyes, blinking a little confused only to see the shifted weather outside.
Sitting up, the sheets pool around you as you stretch your arms out. You slip out of the bed, finding a pair of slippers nearby. You suppose you shouldn’t idle around for long in the house, knowing that letting you stay over was enough generosity from Miyeon’s side.
You let out a low yawn, turning around to head towards the door. But that’s when you freeze mid-way, breath hitching and eyes increasing in size.
There’s a chair placed in the far corner of the room, right next to the door, and on that chair sits Seokjin.
Well, kind of. His head is leaned down and his eyes are screwed shut, making you realize that he must be asleep. But what you can’t understand is a) what on earth is he even doing in this room in the first place and b) how did he manage to just fall asleep on a chair?!
Shaking your head, you cautiously shift closer until you’re standing directly in front of him. Although his self-praises have a tendency of getting annoying eventually, your current view almost makes you understand why he does it so often. His features are both soft and yet sharp, making you almost chuckle that he really is handso–
“Take a picture, it might last longer.”
You jolt back, planting a hand against your heart as his eyes flutter open. There’s a hint of amusement in them, but it’s soon coupled with a glare being sent in your direction.
He smiles in a way that’s not at all sweet. “Mind telling me what you’re doing sleeping in my house?”
You wince at his question. “Right, you live here….”
Seokjin is still staring at you, waiting for some kind of explanation. “Well, I’m good friends with Miyeon and last night the weather was terrible, so she offered I’d stay the night and gave me the guest bedroom.”
You’re expecting him either not to believe you, or at least be suspicious of the situation, but surprisingly enough, his eyes soften.
“You’re the friend Miyeon was talking about?”
You nod, “We’ve known each other ever since college.”
He hums. “I didn’t realize you lived here until it was too late, and I didn’t want to miss the opportunity of catching up with her.” A low sarcastic chuckle leaves you. “Though, it was certainly interesting finding out she’s your wife now.”
Seokjin nearly chokes on air and you tilt your head, raising an eyebrow.
“Are you okay?”
“My what now?!” He nearly screams, his eyes wider than ever.
“Your wife!” You repeat, “You guys are married, right?”
“No!” He lets out an exasperated exhale, “You seriously thought I have a wife?!”
“I also thought the kid in her stomach was yours too.” You chime in.
“Y/N!” He plants his hands against his face and paces around much to your confusion.
He swivels around, “I have an older brother!”
You frown at that, the lightbulb in your head finally starting to flicker.
“You have a brother….” You whisper in realization, only for Seokjin to nod exaggeratedly, “How was I supposed to know that?! She literally said she was married to CEO Namjung’s son!”
“The other son!! I’m not married to someone!” He pokes your shoulder, emphasizing his words, “I am single. SINGLE.”
You push his hand off, “Yeah, yeah, I can see why now.”
He scoffs in offense and you shake your head, connecting all the dots.
“It was all just a misunderstanding….” You mutter thoughtfully, “I get that now. She’s not your wife.”
“Thank you.” Seokjin softly replies, “Now that confusion has been cleared up, didn’t you need a ride home?”
Your eyes light up. “Oh yeah, I would really appreciate that.”
“Okay, get changed and I’ll grab my keys.” He walks closer to the door and your eyes widen, realizing that aside from the borrowed pj’s, you don’t have anything to brush your teeth or comb your hair with.
“Wait, Seokjin–“ He turns around in time, but it’s too late when your foot snags against the thick carpet, sending you spiraling downwards.
Seokjin luckily reacts in time, catching you before you go face first onto the ground. But that’s when the door creaks open, a familiar face emerging.
“Hey Y/N! Are you awake ye– oh.”
Miyeon falters at the door, her wide eyes landing straight on you and Seokjin.
You immediately scamper away from him, raising your hands in defense.
“It’s not what it looks like!”
Seokjin pitches in, “She’s right! There’s no way she would have landed someone as handsome as me.”
You whip your head around. “Excuse me?!”
“Oh come on, you know it’s true.”
“Seokjin!”
“You two know each other…?” Miyeon crosses her arms, eyes still darting between you two.
“We worked together at the company.” Seokjin mentions. “She’s an employee I shadowed.”
Miyeon hums. “Right, we’re just coworkers. Nothing else.”
Seokjin nods in approval and you meet his gaze with a reassured smile. Miyeon is still standing in between the two of you, watching your interaction with suspicion glimmering in her eyes.
She straightens up. “I think I know what’s going on here.”
Your brows raise and in her most accusing tone ever, she says– “You two are in a secret relationship, aren’t you?!”
You stare at Miyeon in absolute horror and Seokjin chokes on air for the second time of the day.
“It’s okay, you don’t have to hide it.” Miyeon remarks. “All this time, I was wondering how you still managed to stay single, Y/N!” She adds with a giggle. “I can’t believe you managed to snag my brother-in-law!”
“Snag him?!” You point to the space between you and Seokjin. “There’s been a misunderstanding, we’re not–
But before you can spew out the undeniable truth, there’s an arm swinging around your shoulders.
“Ah, what can you do, Miyeon?” Seokjin dramatically announces, shaking his head with a sigh. “You’re right, we’ve been caught! How much longer could we have hidden it?”
You stare at Seokjin like he’s insinuating the worst possible thing ever and before you can drive a wedge in the conversation, Miyeon speaks up.
“I knew it! I’m so happy you two are together!!”
She chuckles and Seokjin looks at her warmly, while you’re simply sending daggers with your eyes in his direction.
“Well, I came here to check if you were awake yet but it seems you already are.” She smiles. “Why don’t you join us for breakfast and then you can head home?”
“Oh no, there’s no way I could possibly–“
“Hey, it’s no worries! Besides, wouldn’t you want to spend more time with your boyfriend?”
Your face immediately sours at that but Seokjin smiles brightly. “Of course she would love to! I’ll drop her home right afterwards.”
“Great!” She grins, “I’ll see you two soon downstairs, don’t take too long!”
Seokjin continues to smile as you scowl while she leaves, but the moment the door shuts, you spin around in frustration.
“What the heck?! We are not together.”
“Listen, I know.” He coaxes, surprisingly serious. “Miyeon must have just considered we were based off of what she saw, but this could actually work out.”
You raise a brow, “What do you mean?”
“Ever since my brother got married, everyone’s been waiting for me to show up one day with someone.” He explains, “That’s why I just quickly went along with it.”
“Okay….” You murmur, already aware of the tedious process thanks to Hoseok’s shared stories.
However, one question lingers in your mind. “But why do I need to pretend to be your girlfriend?”
He could have chosen anyone he wanted, why drag you into this?
He shakes his head, like you weren’t properly understanding, “It’s because you can actually be really convincing as my–”
“What?”
Seokjin abruptly blinks, not realizing the words that were escaping him. “–Uh nothing, just pretend we’re together for a while and then you can go home. Sounds fair?”
You let out a sound of discontentment and Seokjin chuckles, peeking out the door. “Should I take that as a yes?”
“I don’t know… I’m not much of an actress.”
“Just pretend to be madly in love with me,” He gestures to himself, “Like are you seriously going to have any problems with that?”
“Oh my god.” You cover your mouth, trying to stifle down your laughter. “You can be so shameless sometimes.”
He winks in your direction. “Good to know that I’m boyfriend material.”
You playfully rolls your eyes and his brighten. “Okay, I’m going head back downstairs. I’ll see you soon.”
He closes the door behind him and you let out a deep sigh, reminiscing that getting back home was going to be a lot harder than you expected.
After freshening up a bit and changing back into your clothes, you start to feel better, especially when Seokjin managed to find an extra comb and toothpaste that you were extremely grateful to accept. Sending a quick text asking Yuna how she is, you head down the spiraling staircase, noticing loud noises coming from where the kitchen end is.
Upon entering, you notice there’s a set of chairs lined alongside one of the tables, with Miyeon sitting along one side across from a man and woman you don’t recognize.
Well, this is going to be awkward.
Everyone’s heads turn and you raise your hand, waving in their direction. “Hello.”
The man turns his head first, appearing closer to your age and having the exact same eyes as Seokjin. The woman on the other side is older, but her features are nearly identical to his.
“Y/N!” Miyeon calls, snapping your daze and gesturing for you to come closer. “This is my husband and mother-in-law. They just got back this morning.”
“Oh.” You raise your brows, reaching your hand out politely. “It’s nice to mee–“
“Y/N!!”
You frown at the voice, knowing who exactly it belonged to. Suddenly, there’s two arms wrapping around your form, encasing you into a back hug.
“Y/N! My darling!” Seokjin dramatically shouts. “We’ve been apart for far too long!!”
You whisper underneath your breath. “Seokjin, I swear to god–“
“Shh, acting 101. You have to make it believable.” He lets go of you and smiles brightly, but that’s when you notice the spatula in his hand.
You frown, “What are you doing?”
“Cooking, what else does it look like?”
Your eyes nearly bulge out. “You can cook?”
“Yeah, why?” He raises a brow, “Can’t you?”
There’s an awkward silence that lingers that Seokjin can’t quite place his finger on, but thankfully Miyeon comes over and joins the conversation with a smile.
“Y/N, you should come over and sit with us!”
“Sure.” You glance over at Seokjin, “I just need to talk to my…significant other…? For a minute.”
She nods and you’re impressed that you managed to somehow say it properly, but then Seokjin is sweeping you away into the kitchen.
Once you’re away from prying ears, you voice your thoughts. “You have to stop being so dramatic!”
“Dramatic?” He frowns, flipping something on the stove. “I’m just acting the way couples do!”
“Couples don’t act like that!” You falter, “Well, not the normal ones, at least.”
“How am I supposed to know?!”
“You should know! You–“ Your trail off at his words, “You’ve…never been in a relationship before….?”
He shakes his head, “Nope.”
“Woah, really…?”
“Why are you surprised?”
“I don’t know, I just thought someone like you would be…”
“Is this your way of calling me handsome?”
“Oh my god, no!” You shake your head, “Just tone it down, will you?”
“Fine.” He mutters, eyes lighting up. “Oh, and just call me Jin. It’ll be better that way.”
You wrinkle your nose. “You make it sound like we’re so close.”
“What? Don’t you think you should at least try to be close to your fake boyfriend?” He whispers, shaking his head in grievance. “Wow, Y/N. I don’t know if I can even salvage this relationship any longer.”
You chuckle at that and he joins in with a smile, but then Miyeon’s voice pitches through. “I hear laughter~”
“Shoot, okay, I’m going back.” Seokjin nods in agreement and you head to the table everyone is at, getting yourself a seat.
From your corner of your eye, you can already see Miyeon grinning.
“So, you were training Jin, hmm?”
“Uh, yeah.” You nervously smile, “He’s actually been trained by a couple of employee’s before I became the sole person to do it.”
“Oh, so it was personal.”
The way she says it makes it sound like you and Seokjin fell in love with each other the moment you met, but in reality it consisted of a lot of pestering and running around on your part, and rigorous hard work from Seokjin’s end.
“Right…”
“How did the training go?” She wonders. “Did you find yourself liking him more?”
“It was okay…at first.” If you constitute him barely understanding anything and the fact that you couldn’t agree on anything. “But over time, our relationship developed for the good and I guess I would consider that we’re very close now.”
The negotiation arises in your mind, alongside times where you were genuinely so happy with his progress.
“Aw, that sounds so romantic!” Miyeon gushes and it takes every fiber of your being not to recoil at the statement.
“He didn’t give you too much trouble, did he?” The question comes from a voice on your left, noticing his mother staring at you curiously.
Your eyes widen, “O-Of course not! He was a very good worker!”
She warmly smiles, almost reminding you of Seokjin’s own smile, “That’s good to hear.”
“She’s asking because he’s worked at the company before,” His brother mentions, “It was through an internship a while ago, and he wasn’t accepted.”
Your brows contort in puzzlement, “Oh…”
“But it’s great to hear that he’s been doing well!” His brother’s eyes spark, “And that you’re together now too.”
“Yeah it is….” Although you’re cringing, you attempt to return his smile, a tad surprised by the news.
Seokjin suddenly emerges out from the kitchen with a tray in his hands, “Food’s ready!”
He begins to set down dishes and you rise from your seat, offering to help but he waves you off.
“You’re a guest. Sit down.” You frown at that and Miyeon giggles, causing you to quirk a brow at her.
Once there’s a plate full of food placed before you, you grab your fork and decide to take a bite of the noodles. In an instant, there’s a burst of flavours in your mouth and you nearly drop your utensils in surprise.
From the corner of your eye, Seokjin notices your reaction and has the smuggest smile you have ever seen on him.
With a cheeky tone, he asks for your opinion, “How is it?”
You clear your throat, “It’s alright.”
He grins, “Oh please, you loved it.”
“I guess…it’s not bad…”
“It’s not bad.” He sarcastically mimics, “What a compliment.”
You playfully glare at him, but Miyeon breaks out in a cluster of coughs and furiously waves her hands in front of her face.
“Miyeon?” You ask in alarm. She shakes his head, features scrunched up.
“I don’t think I can’t eat this, it’s making me nauseous.”
Both you and her husband rise up, but Seokjin is much quicker, swiftly taking the dish away and heading over to the kitchen. He returns within a couple of seconds after Miyeon’s husband is checking on her, bringing a glass of water in his hands and a broth-like soup in his hands.
She gratefully accepts it, taking a couple of sips and reassuring all of you that she was okay. He sets down the soup in front of her.
“I made this just in case the fried food was too much.”
You watch with rounded eyes as a wide smile stretches on Miyeon’s lips and Seokjin softly smiles in return.
He slips into the seat at the far end of the table, which is right next to you, pointing to your food with a thumbs up that just had your head shaking with a smile.
***
Having breakfast with Seokjin and his family is an action you were never expected to have done, but you can definitely say you were more than glad to do so. The best words to describe them would have to be warm and welcoming, as well sharing the same business mindset that’s been drilled into your head. Aside from the fact that they believe you and Seokjin are a thing, you don’t find yourself minding thanks to the familial atmosphere.
You begin to wonder if it’s something you’ve truthfully missed over time, so used to a table that just had you and Yuna.
After everyone’s done eating, you slip out of your seat and begin to collect the plates, heading into the kitchen to place them by the sink.
Seokjin lifts his head up with a smile, “Thanks.”
“What are you doing?” You tilt your head, noticing he was hunching over the counter.
“Oh, I was cutting some cabbage to use later.” He explains, “If you don’t make something out of it fast, it starts to go bad.”
You hum, glancing around. “I’m surprised you were cooking for your family, do you do it every time?”
He shrugs, “Not all the time, but whenever I feel like it. We do have chefs,” He points out, “–if that’s what you’re wondering, but I just like cooking so I’ll make breakfast or lunch sometimes.”
You nod, “I’m impressed.”
He grins lopsidedly, “By what? That I can probably wield a knife better than a business deal?”
“Oh come on, I didn’t say that!” He loudly laughs and you stare at the perfectly cut cabbage next to him, a pout rising on your lips. “I’m just saying…that cooking is a good skill to have. There’s a lot of people that take it for granted and it isn’t as easy as it looks–“
He swivels around with wide eyes, “Oh my god, you can’t cook, can you?”
“I can cook!” You protest in defense, “J-Just not as well…”
His eyes flicker in recognition, offense written all over his features, “Wait, and you said my food’s ‘not bad’?”
“Well yeah, but–“ He turns around, rummaging around the kitchen. “What are you doing?”
“Hold on.” After a moment passes, he faces you again, a spoon in his hands that he gently blows on.
“I was making this for lunch, but I want you to try it.” He brings it up to your mouth and you almost flinch from the proximity, but cautiously take a sip.
It’s incredible, even better than the noodles he served everyone and you hum in contentment.
He looks at you with expectant eyes and it’s beginning to get harder and harder to dodge the truth.
“I-It’s good…”
He beams, “That’s nice to hear, because you’re getting some of it to take home too.”
“What?! Seokjin, it’s fine! You don’t have to–“
He abruptly turns, a knowing look in his eyes that’s accompanied with a warm smile, “Didn’t I say you can call me Jin?”
You blink wide-eyed, rendered speechless.
He raises a brow, “What? Finally discover I’m handsome yet?”
You instantly scoff with a smile, “Just give me the damn food.”
He grins, completely overjoyed.
You encase Miyeon into a big hug.
“Thank you for letting me stay over for the night.”
“It’s no worry at all, Y/N!” She releases you, “I’m just so happy we were able to reconnect again.”
A warm smile pulls at your lips. Aside from your workplace relationships, you didn’t really have any other significant friendships.
It makes you feel even more so grateful to have met her again.
“We should do something…like maybe go out during the weekend.” You suggest, and she beams.
“I would love that!”
You warmly smile, turning your attention over to the staircase. You recall Jin had told you to wait for him as he grabbed his keys.
“I also have to mention–“ You swirl around and Miyeon has a glint to her eyes, “You and Jin…you two make a good pair.”
You instantly scoff, having heard many remarks about the two of you throughout the day with the only recollection being the times you were training him.
“I don’t know, he can really be loud and obnoxious at times.”
“Really?” Miyeon blinks and you raise a brow.
“Yeah, don’t you think so?”
She places a finger against her lips, deep in thought. “Well there are times where he makes a lot of jokes, puns, even.”
You don’t even need to know him too long to wholeheartedly agree with that. “–but Jin can be very sweet and caring, I just feel so lucky to have him around.”
Your brows knit together at that. You wonder if being around him so much within a work environment has almost desensitized you to his presence, not having really paid attention to any of his actions.
“Don’t worry though, I’m definitely sure Jinnie loves you a lot!” She exclaims and before you even have a chance to blink at that nickname, the sound of jingling keys greets your eyes.
Jin emerges from behind you, “Hey! Are you ready to go?”
You nod, glancing at Miyeon quickly, “I’ll see you soon.”
She eagerly smiles, waving at you as you follow Jin back to his car. You slip into the passenger seat, letting out a relieved sigh once he turns the keys and the engine roars.
“I’m so glad all that pretending to be in a relationship is finally over.”
Jin chuckles, looking behind him as he reverses the car, “Hey it wasn’t so bad now, was it?”
“It wasn’t…” You mention as he pulls fully out of the driveway, “But someone’s dramatics didn’t exactly help.”
“That’s it, I think we need to break up.”
You laugh and he glances at you with a smile before driving ahead.
“By the way, what were you and Miyeon talking about before I came down?”
“Oh, nothing really. She was just convincing me on how great you are and that we would make a good pair.”
“She’s not wrong about the first one.” He pitches in.
You roll your eyes, “‒that and I discovered the fact that she calls you ‘Jinnie’.”
His head whips around, not quite expecting to hear that answer to leave you.
You laugh at his expression, “Why did she call me that in front of you?!”
“Oh come on, I think it’s cute!” You respond, “Right, Jinnie?”
He lets out a groan and your shoulders begin to shake with the rate at how much you’re laughing.
“Alright, I’ll stop.” You bring up when he just seems to look more and more deflated, “I have to admit though, your family’s really nice.”
“Sure, I bet they told you a bunch of awful and embarrassing things about me.”
You shrug, “I’m not going to spill, so I guess we’ll never know.”
He sends a glare in your direction and your voice pipes down, “You know, your brother did tell me something….”
“Was it about my limited-edition Mario collection?”
Your eyes round. “What? No…”
Jin nervously laughs, “Oh uh, good. Because it isn’t true.”
Somehow you think he’s not telling the truth, but you skim over the fact, “He actually told me you worked for the company before through an internship….and that you didn’t get accepted.”
His voice drops a tone, “Oh…”
“It was just something he mentioned really quickly–“ You hurriedly say, his reaction telling enough of his experience. “I was just surprised and–“
“No, he’s right. I got the opportunity with an internship and ultimately, wasn’t hired.”
You slowly nod, taken aback with his honesty. “I think at the end of the day….I wasn’t ready. I still don’t think I am.” He lowly chuckles, “I used to think someone like me could never possibly work in the office and I compared myself to my brother a lot, who I still think would be a far better CEO.”
Your eyes widen, staring at him with a mix of surprise and concern, “But my dad wanted me to take up the role instead of Seokjung. I tried convincing him, saying that I wouldn’t make for a good CEO, but he was persistent and told me to just believe in myself and his choice.”
He lets out a long drawn out sigh, “I’ve been just trying my best and by the looks of it, it seems like I’m making progress.”
He glances over at you with a small smile and you feel a bit touched with the gesture.
“So we’ll see how things go…” He whispers, voice suddenly pitching up. “I mean, I certainly have the look of the CEO, but the skills….ehhh….”
“Oh please, don’t sell yourself so short.” You chide and he grins.
“Why not? Don’t you think I'm the type of person who should be married with a kid?”
Your mouth falls agape and he bursts out laughing.
“Oh come on, that was a one-time mistake!”
“I’ll remember it the next time you think I’m married to my sister-in-law.”
You cross your arms, “There isn’t going to be a next time!”
“Right, you’ll probably just find someone random and assume I’m married to them.”
“Jin!”
Despite your efforts for him to stop his teasing, he keeps laughing and whispering something along the lines of ‘this is just pure gold’. Eventually, you can’t help yourself and join in, relieved that he was smiling once again.

MonX Hospital | Hyungwon
Pairing: Chae Hyungwon x reader
Genre: dietitian – hospital au / romance / fluff
Warnings: medical and nutrition terms, a little hint of enemies to lovers but not really enough to label it as that
Word count: 3719

“Holly,” Seungwoo called out and the registered nurse turned around to your group standing there, a bright smile crossing her lips. “Can you give us a hint?”
“Let me guess,” she started, pointing at the four of you with a playful smirk. “Mentoring season?”
“Who’s the best doctor to be assigned to?” Soyou asked earnestly and Jeongmin beside you nodded.
“Give us your expertise from working alongside them all.”
The nurse approached the group of students, folding her arms across her chest. “Well, that would be Doctor Coffee.”
“Doctor who?” Seungwoo questioned, his eyebrows shooting up his forehead. “Ah, don’t mess with us, Holly!”
“I’m serious, tell me who you all got?” the nurse instructed and then once you were all done, you listing over Doctor Chae as your assigned registrar, she looked at you smiling a little more. “Doctor Coffee is the best to learn from, I stand by it.”
“Why is he called that?” you wondered and she patted you on the shoulder, departing your little group with ease.
“You’ll find out!”
You weren’t sure what to expect from Holly’s recommendation, especially since she was referring to a dietitian. Maybe, it was just a fun nickname, and Doctor Chae was known to have a cup of coffee each morning. That didn’t stand out as something to refer to him as, over your several years studying a Bachelor of Science and now wrapping up your Masters in Nutrition and Dietetics, you had become accustomed to coffee as a vice for yourself, and the majority of students and health professionals you crossed paths with regularly. Coffee seemed to be the staple brew in the health industry.
In fact, as you headed towards Doctor Chae’s clinical room the following morning, you were carrying a takeout cup along with your assorted learning tools. Knocking once on his door, you smiled brightly when he called out for you to enter.
“Hello, I’m Y/N,” you greeted, placing your things down so you could wipe off your hand and hold it out to the doctor. He peered at you disinterestedly, barely gripping onto your hand before returning his gaze to the screen. Trying not to be offended, you watched him silently, one hand swishing an iced Americano around whilst the other scrolled over a patient’s file.
Finally, the doctor spoke. “How long are you joining my clinic for?”
“A month.”
“Okay,” he simply replied, going back to his notes.
Waiting for direction, you glanced awkwardly around the room. “Where should I set up?”
“Somewhere that suits your needs best and doesn’t interfere with the patient consultations.”
Was Holly right that learning from such a prickly doctor would be best? You grumbled inwardly knowing the others were no doubt assigned to more approachable staff.
Once the remnants of his cold beverage were finished, you were surprised by the change in activity out of the man. He threw the cup in the trash, stood up and stretched a little, ready for his first patient. The mood in the entire office improved tremendously, as if the last drop of coffee had to be consumed before the doctor kicked into gear.
You perked up by this, sitting up at your little station more eagerly.
And then it was go time.
You were immediately thrown into the issues various patients were having, writing down both your own notes and anything Doctor Chae asked of you. He was incredibly engaging with each session, both with the patient and with you. It was as if you were in a different office than the one you first stepped into.
The young doctor was brimming with knowledge and helpful tips to both you and his clients. He identified issues in their lifestyle and eating plans and explained everything in a way that was informative without sounding too jargon-loaded.
You almost had to wipe your chin for drool at one point; it had hung open in awe for far too long.
The first week of your practical module went by in a blur that it wasn’t until you were starting your next week in Doctor Chae’s office that you picked up on some observations of your mentor.
You had already become accustomed to his indifference in the morning before his first caffeine hit for the day, and there were several other instances where he returned with another cup within his hand from a meeting or lunch, and had even asked when you went to buy yourself a juice if you could get him a coffee whilst at the cafe last Friday. It hadn’t stood out to you as a problem until he sat down with a man in his early 40s who was facing several dietary concerns.
“How many cups of coffee are you drinking throughout the day?”
The man rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly. “About four to six, depending on the workload.”
“That’s a lot of coffee,” Doctor Chae mentioned and before you could hold it in, a snort left you. Both men within the room glanced at you as you flushed red, apologising quietly and then repositioned your laptop in attempts to deflect the attention away from you. The doctor cleared his throat a little before continuing with his questions for the patient. Once he was done with his diagnostics, he listed off various ways to help the man recover from burnout, lower his stress and support all this with a balanced diet – one in which didn’t include as much caffeine.
And once the patient left the room, Doctor Chae shut the door behind his farewell and turned towards you. “What was that?”
“Huh?”
“The snort within my consultation.”
You smiled guiltily. “Sorry.”
“No, tell me why you snorted exactly.”
“Well,” you started, feeling as if you were balancing on a dangerous edge with how intense Doctor Chae’s gaze was upon you. Still, you decided to use facts. “You had five cups of coffee yesterday.”
“And in your clinical impression of me so far, Y/N, are you mocking me?”
“I just found it interesting that your patient was drinking too much caffeine and as someone who is highly regarded as a nutrition expert, you know how bad it is for you and still do the same.”
“Interesting findings,” he responded curtly, returning to his desk. “What are your recommendations?”
“I uh, I don’t-”
“It was an observation you made over me, and I want to know if you were the doctor and I were the patient, what you would recommend.”
You panicked. “I’m not sure.”
“The right response is to lower caffeine intake slowly, ensure that I’m sleeping well and to look for alternatives to help with energy and any other reasons for why we take in too much caffeine as humans.” The doctor looked back at you questioningly. “Correct?”
“Yes.”
“So what would you recommend for me to drink this afternoon, Y/N?”
“More water, for one.”
“Can you go get me the biggest bottle you can find in this complex then?” he instructed, holding out his card. You stood up and took it with a quick nod, dashing out of the office and started your trek across the building to the café at the entrance.
Bumping into Jeongmin halfway, you let out an exasperated wail. He chuckled. “That bad with Doctor Coffee?”
“I have just made my working environment sour,” you lamented and the fellow student looked at you for further information. “Doctor Coffee doesn’t like being called out for not doing as he preaches. I accidentally snorted during clinical hours at a comment he made about caffeine intake and now he’s tasked me with getting him the biggest bottle of water I can find.”
“Rather you than me. Working with Doctor Laing has been a breeze. She’s so laidback.”
“Shut up,” you grumbled and Jeongmin nudged you playfully. You glowered at the path ahead. “I take back all I said about how much I was enjoying learning under him. He’s a narcissist.”
“Some doctors just don’t know how to take their own advice. Maybe he’s embarrassed that you called him out. I bet not many people have.”
You pondered the option and shrugged. “He could be. It wasn’t intentional.”
“Who knows, you might be good for one another. Him with all his expertise and you with your inability to keep quiet when you find fault.”
“Jeongmin!” you growled as your friend departed your side with a skip in his step. “Just you wait until I next see you!”
“Looking forward to it!” he called out across at the atrium with a fond wave. “Until then, may the water guide you towards clarity and peace!”
You huffed indignantly. Today was going to be a long day.
Doctor Chae did decrease his caffeine intake, at least for the remainder of that week. And whilst you tried really hard to keep your opinions to yourself, given he was prickly towards you for an entire day thereafter, you couldn’t help but find more fault with the dietitian's wellbeing.
He didn’t eat nearly enough, the coffee he did religiously still drink simply sloshing around in an almost empty stomach. He was also incredibly picky for someone who boasted to his patients to try and eat a wide range of food types where applicable.
For a successful dietitian, he was seemingly incapable of taking on his own advice.
“Y/N,” the doctor called out and you blinked out of your thoughts, smiling up at the man standing before you. “Are you going to share your observations?”
“The patient was too focused on weight loss-”
“Not those observations, the ones you’re basically sitting on top of your hands so you don’t spill out.”
“I’d rather, not Doctor Chae.”
“Hm, it must be an authoritative thing,” he muttered and then smiled at you. “Please, refer to me as Hyungwon when it’s just us. There. Now you can tell me.”
You laughed a little. “A name doesn’t take away our roles, Doctor Chae.”
“Hyungwon, please,” he repeated and then sat down on the bed beside your station. “Isn’t it annoying to withhold that information?”
“I’d like to keep working with you.”
“It’s that bad?” he guessed with a sigh, rubbing at his face. “I’ve tried with the coffee thing-”
“You barely eat. And what you do pick up is usually processed and only going to give your sugars a sharp boost and then fall rapidly, causing you to reach for the caffeine again. You don’t seem aware of how unbalanced your diet is, at least within this office and I don’t know if you’re tackling underlying medical conditions or live by a specific diet trend, which you and I both know don’t work for the majority of people and leads to unhealthy eating and medical conditions if overused.”
Hyungwon didn’t say anything for a moment, his arms merely remaining folded across his front. And then he broke into a bashful grin. “Feel better?”
“Oh, you have no idea how much,” you breathed and then blinked, your mouth falling agape. “Doctor Chae, I-”
“It’s easier to focus on others and what they eat,” he announced and you bit back the remainder of your apology. He didn’t seem mad this time, in fact, he was visibly flustered and you wondered if Jeongmin had been right the other week. Hyungwon cleared his throat and continued. “I much prefer making sure others are eating well.”
“Who is going to look out for you then?” you questioned and he became thoughtful before shrugging.
“I hadn’t really thought about it.”
“Well, its lunchtime right now,” you mentioned, looking at the clock to confirm you were right for his scheduled lunch break. “How about we eat together?”
“Why would you do that? Don’t you meet up with your fellow student friends on break?”
You smiled brightly as you collected your bag. “Today, I’d much rather have lunch with you.”
The doctor was surprisingly out of his element as you dragged him across the road to an eatery, pointing out the different options before settling on a sandwich bar. You insisted that he add more than just meat and cheese to the roll, his uncomfortable expression causing you to giggle when you were seated across from him. “Doctor?”
“It’s very healthy.”
“It should be. A nice balance of carbohydrates, protein and fats. This will keep you going nicely for the rest of the afternoon, don’t you agree?”
“I don’t know if I like you or not, Y/N.”
“Well, I thought the same about you, admittedly,” you confessed, picking up your filled roll with a smile, thinking back to all the times you had worried over your placement in his office. Glancing at the man again, you merely grinned. “But I think I like you now.”
“Huh.”
There was a comfortable silence between you as you ate and when you both headed back across the road to the hospital, you felt lighter than you had all week long. Swinging your arms at your sides, Hyungwon watched you before smirking. “You’re like a kid.”
“Excuse me?”
“We’re in a place of work, and you’re too elated.”
“Should I come to this place grumbling and see it as a ten-hour sentence each day?” you wondered and Hyungwon smiled, loosening up his body a little more. You nodded eagerly. “Look at that, you’re more carefree as well!”
“Only until we have patients. Then the game face goes back on,” he instructed and you nodded, giggling as Hyungwon skipped across the atrium towards the Dietetics department.
The next day, you came armed with supplies. You guessed right that the coffee Hyungwon sluggishly made his way through was the only thing he had in the morning and placed a container of porridge in front of him, along with another snack-size pottle containing some fruit. “Y/N, I-”
Giving the doctor a reproachful stare, he groaned at you before eating the entire thing. You noticed he didn’t leave for his mid-morning coffee, and by lunch, he seemed more alert than his usual. Holding up another packed bag of food, you shook it gently. “I made us lunch. It’s nice outside, so shall we go on a picnic?”
“You know, Y/N, anyone would think you’re enjoying yourself right now,” he commented with a pout as you handed over his share of the meal you had made last night to bring today.
“I am.”
“I must admit, you know how to cook well.”
“Is that half the problem? Are you any good in the kitchen?” you asked and Hyungwon grew bashful. “I thought as much.”
“I never prioritised learning how to cook.”
“I bet your grocery list consists of pre-packaged meals.”
“I’m still in charge of you right now, Miss L/N,” he warned with a playful glint in his eye. “Stop calling me out like this.”
“You need to eat better.”
“Do I?”
“I’ll make sure you do!” you proclaimed and the man smiled to himself.
“You’re certainly making a point about it. Though next week is your last with me,” he mentioned carefully and you shrugged.
“My studies are held within this hospital, Hyungwon. It won’t be hard for me to continue this.”
“The bigger question is, why are you wanting to?” he asked boldly, staring at you with that intense gaze of his. You blinked a couple of times before smiling.
“I want to help you look after yourself. You do such an amazing job for others, someone should help you.”
“This won’t get you brownie points on my final assessment for you.”
You gasped noisily as he chuckled. “I was never aiming for that!”
“I suppose it does make sense for a dietitian to practice what he preaches.”
“Precisely,” you agreed smugly, holding up your bottle of water to clink with his. Laughing together, you finished your lunch before heading back in to work on the afternoon clinic.
As promised, even when your time in Hyungwon’s office came to an end, you still made a point of checking in with him. You couldn’t do the breakfast run but the doctor had taken to sending you pictures to make sure you left him alone about eating first thing in the morning.
And he had sent you one this morning which had you leaving your study session in annoyance, marching over to the outpatients sector of the hospital and towards the Dietetics department. Checking with the reception whether Doctor Chae was with or without a patient, you waited outside for him to wrap up with the patient inside before you barged through him when he went to shut the door after they left.
“Y-Y/N!” he exclaimed hastily, darting in front of you. Glancing around the office, you then glared at the man before you.
“Would you like me to tell you of my findings, doctor?”
“No, I’m fine.”
“You see, I noticed that the lighting in today’s photo didn’t quite match the brightness of the world outside. Yesterday was overcast but today is not. And upon inspection, I see a coffee cup and no red and white spotted container. Funny, isn’t it? Because I’m sure you sent me a photo of your breakfast today.”
“I was in a rush.”
“Not that much of a rush that you couldn’t stop for coffee, Hyungwon.”
“You came all the way over here from class to tell me off for sending you the same photo twice? Come on Y/N!” he pointed out with a forced laugh, though you didn’t join him. Hyungwon gulped. “Fine, I’ll take you out for lunch.”
“You better.”
“I promise, now can I get back to seeing my patients?”
“I feel like you’ve become my patient,” you mentioned with a scowl, turning on your heel as you headed back to the university level of the hospital.
Breakfast and lunches together soon morphed into dinners as well. You hadn’t realised it, but you spent an awful lot of time together now. Standing in Hyungwon’s kitchen using his brand new cooking equipment, since he hadn’t really owned any before, you were almost done with dinner when Hyungwon appeared post-shower.
It should have dawned on you a whole lot sooner than now just how things had changed between you and the doctor.
You were unnaturally quiet over dinner and Hyungwon watched you carefully, putting down his utensils midway. “You figured out I didn’t eat breakfast again, didn’t you?”
“Huh?”
“I slept through my alarm. But this time I did get a blueberry muffin along with the coffee,” he continued, though when you didn’t praise his efforts, Hyungwon paused, narrowing his gaze. “What’s wrong with you?”
“N-Nothing.”
“Are you not happy with dinner? I thought you had done a good job,” he attempted, looking at his plate and then back to your face, still perturbed. “Y/N, you’re going to have to tell me so I can-”
“I think I’m in love with you,” you blurted out and Hyungwon rocked back in his chair, unmoving once the force of his action settled the seat again. You clamped your eyes shut. “I never realised just how much we’ve been acting like this for.”
“Acting like what?”
“Me coming into your world and making you eat each day. It was never my place.”
“No, but I’ve appreciated it. My health hasn’t been this good in years.”
“I stopped eating with my friends because I wanted to eat with you. And I’ve had fun doing so. We’ve been eating together for almost a year now.”
“Have we?” Hyungwon thought for a moment and then nodded. “So we have.”
“I’m guessing you don’t feel the same way,” you commented, pushing back your seat and standing up. “I should go.”
“Wait, Y/N!” he called as he came after you, taking a hold of your wrist and pulling you around. “I’m just confused about how you came to blurt out that you might love me when all you’ve done is talk about eating together.”
Looking up into his eyes as you tried to hold back your emotions from the sudden realisation, you inhaled a deep breath. “I could get used to doing more than just eating with you.”
“Last night we watched a movie together,” he pointed out and you nodded.
“See, we’re basically like a couple. You’re always helping me when I have problems too.”
Hyungwon smiled then, pushing your hair out of your face. “Can I tell you something?”
“Please, I feel like I’m going mad with how calm you are right now.”
“I thought we were already a couple,” he confessed and you merely stared back at him.
“What?”
“From when you were still being mentored by me. That last couple of weeks together, you insisted we ate together and treated me as if I was someone special to you. I knew back then I liked being around you. I mean, you were the first to point out just how easily I was forgetting myself. Your attention on me made me crave it more often.”
“Then why haven’t we made it official?”
Hyungwon shrugged sheepishly. “I didn’t think we needed to. I liked being with you and you seemed to like it too.”
“I do,” you agreed softly. “Why didn’t I connect what I felt for you was like I would of a partner until I saw you drying off your hair?”
“Did it feel highly domestic? You cooking dinner whilst I showered away my long day?” he offered and you reached up to place your hands on his shoulders.
“Can you continue that scene?”
“Hm, maybe I should thank the chef for her amazing meal.”
“That would be nice.”
Leaning in towards your lips, you closed your eyes and waited for impact. Instead, you felt the breath he expelled fall across your face, along with two words. “Thank you.”
“I think I’m going to kill you now,” you responded, snapping your eyes open right when Hyungwon pressed himself into you, kissing away your annoyance at his playful approach. Your eyes fluttered shut again and you fell within the kiss, humming in delight when he finally pulled away.
Hyungwon smiled at you affectionately. “Should we go finish dinner?”
“And watch a movie?”
“Then fall asleep against one another because it’s gotten late?”
You smiled, side-hugging the man as he moved you back towards the table in his apartment. “And eat breakfast together for the first time?”
“I really like the sound of that.”

AFTER 3 MONTHS, A BELOVED EXISTENCE IS FINALLY BACK!!!!!!
I'm so happy guys i love so much this manhwa
Jaeha being head over heels for Soyou is what i'm living for
And those little lovey dovey moments is making so so happy, like my heart is so full of fluff urghhh i love them
I love them so much that i actually forgot that they haven't kiss yet u know. I mean kissing is great and all but i don't think it's the most romantic thing ever. Like those hugs, little touches, holding hands, little attention is what make a relation so cute and romantic.
BUT THEN THEY FREAKING KISSED AND I'M SO HAPPY
I hope they are not gonna make us wait another 3 months tho i already miss them

5.21am
bf! Taehyung x oc
Genre : Fluff
Word Count : 303
Summary : Waking up in the middle of the night only for a little while before sleeping holding your bf
a/n : Just a small drabble i wrote before dawn. Hope anyone who reads it, likes it! And with these thoughts i tried falling back asleep, too.
5.21am. The sounds of heavy rain and thunder were so strong that eventually woke you up. The lightnings so bright that lighted up the whole room every time. You were so thirsty. The little alcohol from the previous night out had left you feeling extremely thirsty.
You saw Taehyung sleeping in fetal position with his back turned on you and barely covered with the blanket. Nevertheless, you stood up to check for any open windows and have your most-desired glass of water.
After accomplishing your tasks, you came back, rejoining your sleeping boyfriend in your shared bed, slowly, trying not to make any noise as not to wake him up. You wanted to cuddle him, so you spooned him, as not to disturb him and keep him warm. Even though Taehyung loved being the big spoon, he enjoyed being little spoon even more. Who doesn't?
So you covered yourself with the blanket and putting your arm around his waist you passed it onto him. You thought that he hadn't waken up all this time but his low grunt showed otherwise. Well, another thing Taehyung loved was to put his leg around you and you absolutely loved it too. It contained the feeling of love and comfort for you. So without pushing him or anything, you slowly and gently put your leg around him. As a response to this he hummed lowly and brought his hand to hold your leg.
You left a small giggle and brought yourself even closer to him. Your face against his beautiful back, rising and falling with each passing breath. The heat erating from his skin. The sound of each exhale. The way his hand held your leg and yours was over him. Your bodies connected in such a domestic way. Without even realising you were soon falling back to sleep.
