confession: two weeks ago my friends got sick of me slowly cooking to death in my self-pitying emotional soup of heartbreak, took me out for drinks, and installed a dating app on my phone. we are all in the same degree at uni (i'm 25 + i promise this is relevant), in a faculty that is extremely quaint and mostly comprised of academics married to people with normal jobs. two years ago a teacher-couple joined our program's faculty, a fact that caused a minor riot within the teaching staff, who thought it was unfair to give two of four tenured jobs to a couple... unfortunately for them both of these profs are extremely beloved among the students and very good teachers at that. even if you've never taken classes from either of them, you know about this couple and probably whatever rumors are going around about them too. i've taken classes w/ both.
anyway. back to me on the dating app in the bar with my friends, pretty drunk, swiping though my bumble suggestions. for extra fun, we have set the minimum age to 30 and the gender to include "both" even though i am a lesbian. the whole table is viciously tearing down dating profiles, investigating their pictures, etc. i go to the bar to get another round for the group, am about to pay for our drinks when i hear a virtual SHRIEK from our corner. i get back, dish our drinks out. my phone is in the middle of the table, untouched by anyone like it's a cursed object. i look at the screen. it's them, our teacher couple. they have a shared dating profile, stating that they are "looking for someone to explore her bisexuality with". lesbian readers will know that this is not exactly an uncommon profile type to find, but still, seeing it from people who have taught basically everything you know about 19th century literature is... quite something. so naturally i decide to swipe right before anyone can stop me.
maia, i am so proud to report: i fucked that man's wife, she was absolutely lovely, and we will see each other again, and i am currently taking another class from her husband where the vibe is more than chill. my friends have been sworn to secrecy, but i know it's only a matter of time before someone slips up and the rumor mill starts churning... but who cares? i haven't thought about my ex since!
OH MY GOD HOLY SHIT

i think the ideal food is something i can make a big pot of and then eat out of whatever size bowl i want
#teaposts#which actually has more to do with me realizing why i have a bit of an aversion to making 'hunk of meat' type meals#if i'm staring down e.g. a chicken breast there's a silent expectation that i should be hungry enough to finish all of it#plus whatever side dishes i've prepared bc i like to have well balanced meals#and sometimes i'm just not that hungry. or sometimes i'm not consistently hungry enough to do that 4-6 times in a row#so even if i think it tastes good there's a stronger chance more food will go to waste#(like the other week when i had that lemon pepper chicken. i felt bad bc it was so good but i wasted like half of what i prepared)#whereas if i have e.g. a soup or stir fry i can decide exactly how much i want and that makes it easier to go back to during the week#also i don't really need elaborate side dishes bc those things usually have veggies proteins grains etc. all in the same bowl#so it occurred to me that it might help if i either start with cutting meats in bite-size pieces or chop them up after cooking#and give myself more freedom for the 'whatever bowl i want' criterion

Princess Treatment - LADS HCs
Premise: You spoil him rotten, giving him the true princess treatment whenever he least expects it. Based on this request. Pairing: reader x Xavier, Zayne, Rafayel, Sylus (Seperate) Note: Reader and the men are in a relationship. This is pure fluff and I wrote these as headcanons on how the MC would spoil the lads men.
XAVIER
Tying His Shoelaces: Xavier, perpetually lost in thought or too sleepy to notice, never realizes his shoelaces have come undone. Youâve taken it upon yourself to stop him mid-step, kneeling down without hesitation to tie them up for him. "Y-you donât have to do that,â he murmurs, his ears tinged red as other hunters in the UNICORNS squad snicker or raise eyebrows. Despite his protests, he secretly loves the care and attention you give him. Sometimes, heâll glance down at his laces before heading out, secretly hoping youâll stop him again.
The Crumb Crisis: Youâve come to notice that Xavier is always getting crumbs on his faceâwhether itâs from a snack he didnât realize heâd left out or a meal heâs rushed through. Youâve made it a habit to carry a handkerchief with you, and whenever you see those crumbs stuck to his cheek, you gently take the cloth and wipe them off. Heâs always caught off guard, sometimes even stammering, "I'm fine, really!" but the quiet appreciation in his eyes is unmistakable.
Homecooked Comfort: After grueling missions, Xavier is too drained to do much beyond collapsing on his couch. And given his well-documented kitchen disastersâhe once managed to burn soupâyouâve made it a point to spoil him with hearty, homecooked meals. From comforting stews to his favorite snacks, you make sure heâs well-fed and taken care of. The first time you did it, his sleepy eyes widened in surprise. âYou⊠made this for me?â âOf course. You deserve it.â He savors every bite, and though heâs not great with words, the way he quietly finishes everything on his plate is thanks enough.
Fuck the machines: Claw machines are Xavierâs mortal enemy. Youâve watched him struggle time and again, his focus no match for the slippery claws, even when he uses his Evol. So, youâve taken over as his claw machine champion. "Which one do you want this time?â you ask, cracking your knuckles as he hesitates before shyly pointing to a particularly adorable plush. You win it with ease, handing it to him with a triumphant grin. âFor you, Your Highness.â He laughs softly, his rare smile lighting up his face. âYouâre too good at this.â
Bedhead Boy: Xavierâs perpetually messy bedhead is endearing, but sometimes itâs just too much for you to resist smoothing down. With a quiet hum, you gently comb your fingers through his hair, fixing it without a second thought. âHeyâŠâ he starts to protest, but he always lets you finish, his ears pink as you pat his head affectionately.
ZAYNE
Door Dash: Zayneâs disdain for hospital canteen food is no secret, and youâve made it your mission to ensure he eats something wholesome during his grueling shifts. You send him meals carefully packed in insulated containers, often including his favorite dishes. Occasionally, youâll slip in a small dessert, knowing his secret sweet tooth. He doesnât say much when he gets them, but youâve caught a glimpse of the faint smirk he wears when he opens the package. âYou know I can survive on vending machine snacks, right?â heâd quip over the phone later, but the fact he finishes every bite says otherwise.
Sticky notes: Zayne isnât the type to expect grand gestures, so you leave small, thoughtful surprises instead. A note tucked into his hospital coat pocket with a cheeky, âDonât overwork yourself. I still need my heart surgeon around.â Or a sticky note on his dashboard that reads, âDrive safe, handsome.â Once, he found one in his mail that simply said, âStop glaring at everyone, I know youâre secretly nice.â He pretends to be unfazed, rolling his eyes or muttering something sarcastic like, âAm I being stalked?â but he keeps every single one in a drawer at home.
Spoil me, rotten: Zayneâs wardrobe is filled with impeccably tailored long coats, a staple of his polished appearance. Youâve taken to buying him accessories like elegant brooches, leather gloves, or even scarves that perfectly complement his collection. He always protests when you present them, narrowing his eyes and saying, âYou do know I can buy these myself, right?â But the next time you see him, heâs wearing the latest item with an almost imperceptible look of pride. You tease him about it, and he deadpans, âItâs just practical. Donât overthink it.â
Doctor's Day Out: Knowing how chaotic Zayneâs schedule as a top surgeon can be, you take charge of planning the weekends so he doesnât have to lift a finger. Whether itâs booking a cozy dinner reservation, arranging a quiet getaway, or even planning an at-home movie night, you ensure everything is set. âAll you need to do is show up and look stunning,â you joke, and he raises an eyebrow. âWell, Iâm halfway there already,â he retorts dryly, but the way he leans back and relaxes during those weekends tells you heâs more grateful than he lets on.
Massage therapist: Zayneâs hands are his lifeline, and after long, intricate surgeries, theyâre often sore and strained. Youâve made it a habit to take his hands in yours and gently massage them, working out the tension in his fingers and wrists. He pretends to be indifferent at first but notices that your skills have improved. After all, youâd put in the effort to learn different techniques to aid him and his skilled hands. âI hope youâre not charging me for this.â He jokes. But as your thumbs press into the tight knots, his usual stoic demeanor falters. The sharp lines of stress around his eyes soften, and his shoulders, once hunched from exhaustion, slowly unwind.
RAFAYEL
After you: Itâs no secret Rafayel enjoys being the center of your attention, and youâre more than happy to oblige. Wherever you areâbe it a cafĂ©, an art gallery, or even your own homeâyou always make it a point to open the door for him. Without fail, he pauses, waiting for you to complete the gesture. Itâs not that he canât do it himself, but he loves seeing that soft, proud smile on your face when you hold the door just for him. Of course, heâd never outright admit it. Instead, heâll quip something bratty, like, âTook you long enough, Cutieâ but the faint curve of his lips tells you he secretly adores it.
Color Splash: Rafayelâs world revolves around his art, and youâve made it your mission to fuel his creativity. Whether itâs hunting down rare pigments, finding unconventional materials to create new textures, or gifting him innovative tools, you never miss an opportunity to surprise him. When he first discovers your thoughtful additions to his collection, heâs practically radiant, eyes gleaming with inspiration as he eagerly experiments. Of course, heâll nonchalantly mutter, âI couldâve found this myself, you know,â but his excitement is undeniable, and you know youâve made his day.
Cheater, Cheater: You pride yourself on your competitive streak, but when it comes to Kitty Cards with Rafayel, you canât help but let him bend the rules. He catches on every time, glancing at you with a knowing smirk as he casually switches out cards while you pretend not to notice. He knows exactly what youâre doing but plays along with a sly grin. Winning always means he gets to name his prize, and without fail, itâs more time with you. âYour competitive streak is slipping, cutie,â he teases, already pulling you closer. âGuess youâll just have to pay for it with another evening by my side.â
Passenger Princess: Whether itâs the car or your motorbike, Rafayel is always the passenger princess with you. Heâs perfectly content letting you take the wheel, whether itâs navigating through traffic or cruising down open roads. Heâll sit back, casually tossing a playful comment your way, his relaxed demeanor making it clear he has no interest in taking control. But even more than that, he loves the attention you give him. Heâll rest his hand on your shoulder or his head against the seat, basking in the comfort of being close to you. Itâs his way of enjoying the rideâand youâwithout the fuss.
Creative Clean up: Rafayelâs studio is a whirlwind of creativity, but itâs also a constant mess. Brushes, paints, papers, clothesâeverythingâs scattered around like a storm wrecked his living space. Coffee cups would double as pen holders, and brushes would be left lying around like they were an afterthought. But no matter how chaotic it became, you never complained. Youâd roll up your sleeves and clean up every single time you visited him. Heâd give you a cheeky grin, the same one he wore whenever he was being a brat, and say, âYou know you donât have to do this, right? I like my space just the way it is.â But he never stopped you, and in the moments when he didnât look, his eyes would soften, and a hint of appreciation would slip through his normally playful mask. He knew you cared for him in a way that no one else did.
SYLUS
Product Placement: Sylus was used to getting what he wanted, whether it was luxury items or rare finds. He had his preferences, and he wasnât one to settle for less. But when you made it your mission to keep his favorite, expensive brands stocked in your homeâwhether it was gourmet food, skincare products, or niche equipmentâit didnât go unnoticed. The first time you did this, Sylus had been caught off guard. Heâd teased you, of course. âI donât need you to be my personal store, kitten. Iâve got everything I need.â But when he came over and found everything perfectly laid out just the way he liked it, the teasing turned into a more meaningful smile. He would let you spoil him just enough to acknowledge your effort, but never enough to let you feel like you were getting the upper hand. That was the Sylus way.
Rare Rhythms: Â Sylusâ love for rare records was well-known, and so was the fact that he had an extensive collection of limited-edition vinyl. But you didnât mind diving into the world of obscure, indie artists just to get him something new for his collection. It wasnât easy, though. It took long hours of scouring flea markets, searching online auction houses, and talking to music enthusiasts who knew more than a thing or two about underground talent. It was often a challenge, but for you, it was worth every second. Sylus didnât say much, but you could tell by the way he listened to every single one of them, that he was genuinely impressed. "Theyâve got potential," he'd said, before you knew it, that same artist was suspiciously rising in popularity, and youâd smile every time Sylus mentioned them. âYou really know how to find a diamond in the rough, donât you, sweetie?â
Spoiled Stubborn: Sylus was always the one taking the lead, always the one orchestrating the grand gestures. Spoiling him? Not so easy. He didnât make it easy for anyone to do that. He would never outright refuse, but it was clear that when you tried, he preferred to return the favor rather than let you take charge. But you were stubbornâprobably even more so than he was. You wanted him to be spoiled just as much. You wanted him to experience the kind of care he gave to everyone else, and you had just the way to do it: Planning dates where he couldnât take over. Once it was picnic in the woods. You went all outâyour best blankets, his favorite snacks, wine you knew heâd likeâand most importantly, you took care of every detail so that he couldnât take charge. The other time, it was a movie night at your place where everything was set: Popcorn, soda, the projector and candy. âYouâre stubborn, you know that?â he remarked softly, but there was affection behind his words. "I want spoil you... but youâve managed to spoil me instead." You smiled, the warmth in your chest spreading, knowing that in these small moment, you had made him feel cared forâsomething he usually avoided letting others do.
Sylusâ Salon: Sylus had always been a little gruff, his rugged demeanor giving off the impression of someone who was clinical and composed. But you knew him better than that. One of those moments was when you washed and dried his hair. Heâd never asked for it, but youâd begun doing it without thinking. Maybe it was the way his silver hair shimmered under the water, or maybe it was the way he looked so disarmed when he let his guard down, letting you comb through his hair with graceful  fingers. Youâd always notice how his breath would deepen, how his eyes would close just a little longer than necessary. "I know you like doing this," heâd say, the faintest hint of a grin playing on his lips. "But youâre making it hard for me to act all tough with you fussing over me like this." Youâd laugh softly, pressing a kiss to his forehead before continuing to dry his hair. It was an act of tenderness, a side of him that no one got to see.
Touch Starved: Sometimes, it wasnât the grand gestures that mattered. It was the little touches. âa soft brush of your hand against his cheek or the fleeting warmth of your fingers tracing his jawâhe couldnât help but pause. Heâd find himself rewinding moments of you brushing his hair out of his face, or simply wrapping your arms around him when he least expected it. Heâd tense, but only for a moment, before letting the warmth of your embrace dissolve his guarded exterior. âIt seems like a certain kitten cannot keep her hands to herself.â Sylus would tease, a hint of a smirk tugging at his lips as you snuck in another kiss, letting him know that youâd spoil him with your touches and kisses, even if he wonât admit it loudly.
AN: reblogs, feedback and opinions are appreciated!

đ» svt reacts to your drunk texts.
@hopeless-foolery â "how would the members react to you cutely drunk texting them?"
â âi too would be drunk texting svt about how much i adore them... âœâœàŹ( ËÏË )àŹâŸâŸ
â§âËâ©ćœĄ includes: drunk!reader (mentions of alcohol), intentional typos, established relationship, pet names, fluff!!! yipee, slight crack, cussing, [short] headcanons under the cut.
đ» headcanons .á
â would make fun of you â© jeonghan, junhui, soonyoung, mingyu, seungkwan.
svt have had their fair share of seeing each other drunk, so it should come as little/no surprise that they've got a little bit of a teasing streak when it comes to a drunk you. soonyoung beats them all out by a mile in the sense that he will demand to be drinking with you. he can't have you being the only one having all the fun! if he can, he'll roll up and drink with you until you're both drunkenly blabbering to each other. mingyu uses the opportunity to ask drunk you a bunch of the silliest questions. he'll be very serious as he tries to get you to answer the perilla leaf debate, for instance, because he thinks you're most likely to be a little more honest (and very cute) when you've got a little bit of alcohol in you. as for jeonghan, his exploitation is a lot more light hearted; he's quick to seize the chance to fish for compliments. he thinks it's amusing, how you'll get all flustered in the morning. "no take backs!" he'll claim as he basks in all your sweet words. junhui is similar in the sense that he's already taken dozens of screenshots of your drunk texts. as leverage, of course, but also for him to look back on a rainy day. one of his favorite things is finding ways to surprise you when you're drunk, because he knows you'll get emotional over a random callâ or, if he can manage, a surprise visit. seungkwan teeters the line of making fun/taking care, though he often does start with an exasperated kind of joking. ultimately, he'll never be able to resist the urge to make sure you're okay. (think: the famous instance of seungkwan taking care of a drunk wonwoo.) he'll dish out all his jokes before going to find you and make sure you're all good.
â would take care of you â© seungcheol, joshua, seokmin, minghao, vernon.
seungcheol would be the caretaker. the moment he gets those drunk texts, he's already gearing up to take you home. he's the gentle hand at the small of your back, keeping you steady. best believe that he already has everything you need in his car's glove compartment. he loves your drunk texts, sure, but he loves looking after you so much more. vernon's more of a the-day-after type of care. he'll show up at your doorstep with a small smirk, teasing something along the lines of "you went hard again, huh?" but he also has aspirin, gatorade, takeout soup. you name it. he won't mention your sappy drunk texts, though he's also secretly taken screenshots just in case you take it back. joshua, seokmin, and minghao all have that similar instinct to make sure you're okay, no matter how happy they might be to see your cute messages. joshua will indulge your drunken babbles while 'subtly' trying you to care for yourself. if necessary, he'll coax you over video call to drink less, using the most honeyed voice ever to get you to cave. conversely, seokmin will stay up until you get home. he prefers being able to pick you up, sure, but when he can't? he'll battle off his drowsiness and will only crash when he gets that 'i'm home' text. minghao, no matter what time you catch him, will be on his feet at any sign of you having drunk one too many. it's the way he loves, after allâ to love is to be burdened, but to not think of it that way.
â would be endeared by you â© wonwoo, jihoon, chan.
wonwoo may be a little confused, but he's got the spirit! he'll probably sigh to himself when he sees your drunken rambles. (although, if you squint, there's a hint of a fond smile on his face. a warm gleam in his eyes.) he'll let you have your fun and will occasionally shoot you well-meaning reminders, all the while keeping your words in the back of his mind. jihoon would take your words seriously. he's the kind who believe that alcohol can lower inhibitions, can incite sincerity, so he'll be more than a little overwhelmed with your sheer affection. the mere thought of you wanting to take it back would make his heart lurch. like seokmin, he's the text-me-when-you're-home type, except he stays awake for much longer just contemplating your texts and how they make him feel. and chan will try to tease, will attempt to be like his hyungsâ prompting compliments, fishing for praiseâ but when the words sink in? when he realizes that you actually might mean what you're saying? he's so far gone, it's not even funny. he'd do anything to hear more of it. (preferably in person, which is why he's rushing to where you are asap.)

PHANNIE COOKBOOK SIGN-UPS!!
Do you have a really good recipe you think Dan and Phil would enjoy? Consider submitting it to this collaborative phannie cookbook that will be given to DnP at a meet & greet! It will also be available to everyone to download as a PDF.
Family recipes or your favourite dish from your country/culture is a bonus, but it doesnât have to be that personal. All I ask is that you donât go rip something random off the Internet right now just to be in the book, I want food you genuinely enjoy!
Iâve decided the most efficient way of doing this is to let you submit up to 3 different options, that way if there are any repeats (and Iâm certain there will be) I wonât have to message everyone it concerns to ask if you have any alternatives. Besides, that way I can choose which version gets in based on your other options rather than which one âsounds betterâ to me, cause I think that would be a little unfair. I also have no idea how many people will actually participate in this yet, which is currently the biggest hurdle in terms of planning. If only a few sign up there is a chance weâll end up using multiple recipes by some, and if somehow we get too many Iâll have to pick and choose. I do really want to include as many people as possible, but until I actually see the recipes itâs hard to tell what will end up happening.
The main focus of this will be actual food, but we obviously need to include a few desserts, so feel free to submit those as well just be aware the chances of those getting picked might be lower. The same goes for soups, I assume a lot of people have soup recipes and we might include a couple, but for obvious reasons it's a low priority.
Some key things to keep in mind:
Phil is a bit picky and has some dietary restrictions! He shouldnât have dairy or chocolate and he doesnât like cheese or mushrooms, among other things. That doesnât mean you have to avoid these things entirely, but maybe your grandmaâs mac and cheese recipe isnât the best choice
While neither of them is vegan they do eat a lot of vegan food, so we definitely need some vegan dishes. I also think it would be really great if you suggested vegetarian and/or vegan substitutions you know work well with your recipe! That isnât a must for every dish, but itâs a nice addition where possible
Tragically, Dan and Phil are British, meaning they wonât necessarily have access to all the same ingredients as you. Luckily they are also rich and live in a major city with a lot of options so they arenât limited to what they can find at their local Tesco, but since the aim of this book is to encourage them to cook we probably shouldnât be sending them on a scavenger hunt either. I donât think this will be a huge issue, but if your recipe calls for something you think might be very niche or local to you it might be worth googling it or asking around
The final book will be using UK measurements, but if your recipe doesnât then donât even worry about it for now. Weâll get to that later. You also donât have to worry about typing out the whole step-by-step in detail in the sign-up form, I just need a list of the ingredients and roughly how to prepare it to gauge whether itâs a good fit.
I promise Iâm almost done yapping but lastly, about some of the questions on the form - you donât need to know exactly how long the dish takes to prepare, that will depend on the person or people making it anyway, but we do need a rough estimate. The difficulty level is obviously quite subjective, but I just want to hear how you personally would rank it, and if there is a specific part of the process you think someone who doesnât cook a lot might struggle with. As for the last question about photos, Iâm asking both if you have the time and opportunity to make the food and if you are able to take a good photo of it. Obviously it doesnât have to be anything professional, a phone camera is fine, it just needs to be well lit and decent quality.
Okay, I think thatâs everything-
Here's the sign-up form
The deadline is in a week, at midnight Thursday to Friday CET :)
(I also made a blog for this @phookbook for information and updates! A lot of it will probably still be on this blog, but I'll try to post/reblog the most important things on there for those who want to keep up with everything but who may not want to deal with all the chaos of pseudophan)

â yummy in my tummy â
requested by:
After reading the pretty boy fics, I got to ask: "How would the dorm leaders (and the rest if you want to write about them) react to being given food from the reader (who cooks and bakes god tier food) who is concerned for their wellbeing?" - anon Headcanons for Dorm Leaders with an s/o who loves to spoil them with delicious homemade meals, sweets and snacks. - anon Could I request something domestic? Housewardens with an s/o that cooks for them almost everyday? -anon
a/n I decided to combine these three requests! I'm not sure if there were anymore of the same variety, so if I missed it, I'm sorry T^T Gonna split this into three parts, so keep an eye out for the other two! I wanted to keep this vague, i didnât mention any type of specific food, but make it known, i am craving tamales so badly
included: grim, all of heartslabyul and savanaclaw
tw none
Ramshackle <3
â He eats your food every day. Your best customer is the one and only GRIM THE GREAT! Food always tastes good to this little guy, but food made by you? Top tier! Nothing could beat it (the overblot stones probably could) Heâs a pain in your ass when you're cooking/baking, constantly trying to get a nibble from your ingredients. His hungry ass is just too impatient. After a long and hard day, all he wants is to lay back and eat some tuna and one of your sweet treats for dessert. It's the best way to end his day.
Heartslabyul <3
â You see once you start cooking for them, youâre not going to stop. Cater and Ace make sure of it. They all love your cooking! They feel so loved and cared for with each dish you lovingly made for them. Does this contribute to their ever growing feelings for you?
â Yes, yes it does.
â Riddle was kinda on edge by it. Not because he thought you were a horrible cook, heâs tasted Aceâs cooking before, but because he didnât understand the warm feeling in his chest. Riddleâs mother never cooked, instead she had chefs cook the blandest (healthy, she claimed) foods for them both. Heâs never felt the warmth and comfort from a home cooked dish. Trey is an excellent cook, and even better baker, but itâs Trey. You were different, always had been to him. Riddle almost moaned at the taste of the different spices and flavors that exploded in his mouth. This boy has never tasted so many all at once. It was truly an eye opener. Riddle asks if you could teach him some recipes.
â So relieved. Trey is just the epitome of a parent finally sitting down after a long day when you come to help in the kitchen or bring containers of food. Trey finds himself visiting you at Ramshackle more often, with the intention of learning or cooking with you. But ends up with you ushering him to sit down and youâll be back with some fresh soup. He really does appreciate your presence, everything about you is so comforting and lively, so you making amazing food is an added bonus. Loves to learn about different foods from your world, even more so any type of pastry/sweet! Considers asking if you want to do a bake off, but decided not to, because he knew everyone would choose you. (he would do the same tbh)
â If you didnât have a magicam account dedicated to your cooking before, well now you do! Cater will take photos of every dish you made, going on a long rant on how this is the most delicious food heâs ever eaten. If you let him, he'll post pictures and videos of you cooking/baking on the account. The account is as comforting as your food. Ofc, he has tons and tons of photos and videos on his phone of you. Cater looks forwards to whatever you make, but is especially touched when you bake something that isnât incredibly sweet or something entirely different then what you made the others. It makes him feel special.
â Ace didnât consider himself a picky eater, at least not until he ate your food! Boy will not leave you alone. He's constantly begging you to make him food and treats. Saying 'you just killed a poor starving boy, gootbye-' and just crashes onto you. Ace just really enjoys your cooking and he melts whenever you bring him food without him asking (begging). Heâs the type of person to sit on the counter and talk while youâre busy doing things all around the kitchen. It briefly reminds him of his own childhood. Itâs oddly domestic that it sikes him out for a moment. But then he glances at you and suddenly that feeling is replaced with a warm fluttering feeling in his chest. (donât question the blush on his cheeks ofc)
â Deuce isnât one for taking photos but every thing youâve ever made him has been instantly snapped and sent to his mom. (who loves knowing that her darling son is eating well) Heâs not as obvious as Ace, but Deuce tries to slyly suggest that you make him more food. And of course, heâs more than willing to help. Again, unlike Ace who sits and talks, Deuce follows you around the kitchen like a duckling, patiently awaiting your orders. He wants to be helpful! Will gladly take anything out of the oven and carry any heavy materials. Will crash if you hold up a spoon for him to taste test. Isnât this romantic? He asks himself as he shakily takes the spoon into his mouth. Omg, and if he sees you do your own taste test with the same spoon? Oh sevens, help you both.
Savanaclaw <3
â Another group that doesnât let you stop cooking/baking for them. But at least you have free access to a buttload of money and two very eager helpers (for very different reasons)
â Leona isnât a stranger to good, probably excellent, cooked meals. Heâs a prince, duh. But when itâs a meal cooked by you? Everything that heâs eaten up til now is straight trash. Pride is one way to describe how he feels, quickly followed by smug. Of course, youâd dedicate your time and energy to cook him a meal. And of course, you poured your love into every step. Heâll eat practically anything you give him, though he will side eye the vegetables and discreetly give them to Ruggie. As for sweet things, heâs not a big fan of sweets. I feel like heâd like savory flavors, maybe a little bitter or maybe a little tart. Or perhaps something with subtle flavors but a hearty texture. Iâm just speculating of course, so itâs always a hit or miss when it comes to baked goods with him. Though, donât worry, nothing you make goes to waste. Ruggie is always ready to swoop in when needed. And as mentioned before, Leona knows ingredients can get spendy, so heâs more than willing to hand you his credit card.
â Speaking of credit cards, Ruggie just always happens to be in the same vicinity when that black card hits your hands. Ruggie wouldnât call himself the greatest chef, but he is resourceful. With everything you cook, Ruggie shows you how to get the most out of your ingredients. He even shows you some low-budget/free ingredients you can find all over campus and how to make it. Ruggie is honestly a good person to have by your side when it comes to cooking, you learn plenty of new things and you get to share your own knowledge to someone you know will share with others. However, Ruggie isnât someone that does something for free. So he expects to be taking half of whatever you're making back with him. On a cuter note, Ruggie practically bursts into two when you show up with a container full of warm, mouth watering, doughnuts. Judging by how fast Ruggies tail was wagging, you were afraid that he was about to fly up into space.
â Despite his tendencies to try to keep his emotions to himself, Jack really does appreciate the effort you put in to make his meals protein pack and nutritious. And while heâs not the greatest cook, Jack helps the best he can in the kitchen. Though, heâs a little clumsy (if his culinary crucible says otherwise, no it doesnât) but heâs eager! Jack is a quick learner so it doesn't take him very long to get the hang of things. Definitely subtly brags about it to the other first years. But if any of them dares to mention how fast his tail is wagging, he gets all pouty with embarrassment. I definitely suggest keeping it to meals and not sweet. Jack is not a sweet guy at all. Though he might indulge if you give him puppy-dog eyes.

And as always, my biggest thanks to @wonwoonlight đ„°
PS. If I canât tag you, pls fix your settings!
The silence that engulfs Jungkookâs apartment once you enter the following Monday is quite unnerving, as it brings back memories of the last time this happened and a half-naked woman came out of the bedroom and questioned who you were. The gym is empty. Thereâs no other sound of someone typing away or talking on the phone like the few times that you found Jungkook working before you even arrived.
You take a deep breath and decide to just face whoever comes out of these doors until one of them opens and out comes the man himself - alone - dressed in an oversized jumper and sweatpants. He looks like he just got out of bed with his semi-mussed hair - with a little sprout bouncing along as he moves - and groggy eyes, which widen once it registers that youâre here.
âMr. Jeon,â you bow in greeting. âAre you feeling better?â
âA little,â he replies, his deep and gruff voice startling you a little. âWhat do you have there?â
He gestures towards the paper bag youâre holding, and you remember what you decided to bring over.
âUh, chicken noodle soup,â you mutter, somehow suddenly shy. âJust an option for this morning. I wasnât sure if you were still feeling under the weather.â
âI think Iâm just fatigued,â he says. âBut uh, I can have that.â
âYes, sir,â you nod, putting it in a pot to eventually heat.Â
You prepare his suits for the week then prepare his breakfast, pouring yourself a small serving as well. He takes his seat and starts eating, and you glance at him to see his reaction.
âWhere did you get the one from last Saturday?â He asks, his face expressionless.
âFrom a store nearby,â you answer. âI was heading somewhere and your building was on the way.â
âThis tastes better. Where did you get this from?âÂ
âI, uh, I made it,â you say softly, feeling a bit of pride that itâs something he complimented.Â
Thereâs prolonged silence that youâre suddenly nervous about. His eyes remain focused straight ahead while yours constantly flit towards him, partly to gauge if heâll start talking about last weekâs meeting and partly to see his reaction about your dish.
âYou donât have to send or make me food, Ms. Cho,â he finally says, wishing heâd said it with a bit more warmth.Â
But heâs not used to speaking that way, so it comes off as displeasure, as if he doesnât appreciate what youâd done even if thatâs exactly how he feels. Heâs grateful; he just doesnât want another reason to think that you actually care about him.Â
âMy health is my responsibility, not yours,â he adds.
âI, uh⊠I suppose thatâs true,â you say even more softly. âI just thought it would be nice to be given something like this when youâre sick.â
And itâs the truth. During the times you were unwell, Hoseok would remind you to rest or take your medicines; he even bought you vitamins and itâs why taking them became a habit of yours. You barely had the energy to make soup. But after that one time when you braved through an event and Yoongi noticed you feeling under the weather, he took you to a noodle house and ordered extra chicken noodle soup for you to take home. You had it all through the weekend, and though it wasnât like your momâs, it was still something familiar, and it was comfort that you badly needed.
You thought it was something you could extend to Jungkook. You werenât sure if he was spending the weekend at home by himself, but in case he was, you thought that something warm would help. You were on your way to watch a local film and happened to pass by his area, the image of him sick and probably alone prompting you to just buy that dish and leave it at the reception. You suddenly craved it and made one for yourself last night, thinking it wouldnât hurt if you brought some over for him as well. Even if he thinks it isnât your responsibility, you think itâs still within your role to make sure that your boss - the Vice President - conducts his functions properly, and he can only do so if heâs healthy.Â
As you finish the small portion that you prepared for yourself, Jungkook wonders whoâd taken care of you during the times you were sick. With your friends and family miles away, perhaps there wasnât anyone. Maybe it was a boyfriend. Or maybe like what heâs come to see, you did things on your own. Maybe you think thereâs no one doing that for him, too.Â
And you wouldnât be wrong. He was never good with company, after all, whether it was offering or keeping it. So when someone offers something as simple as a bowl of soup for when heâs feeling unwell, it cuts through the walls heâs built around himself because heâs become used to no one even knocking to check how heâs doing.Â
But in an effort to remain unmoved and insistent on keeping his distance, he sets boundaries once more.Â
âYou donât need to do this for me, Mr. Cho,â he states. âI appreciate it, but Iâd prefer if you donât do it again.â
He sees your face fall from his periphery, and much as he wants to take it back, he knows he has to hold back. It was hard enough to resist feeling cared for.Â
Heâd really spent the weekend by himself, turning down his friendsâ invitation to go to a resort and Hoseokâs offer of dinner at this newly opened steak house. Jungkook was buried under the covers when the phone rang informing him that youâd left something for him, unwilling to move and get off the bed because he was too tired but also too hungry, so when he opened the bag and it registered to him what you've given him, he felt less alone and less sad for himself. The image of your shy expression flashed through his mind and he couldnât help the smile he let out, giving himself only a minute to bask in your kindness before reminding himself that it means nothing more than making sure heâs well. Itâs harder for you if heâs sick, he convinced himself. Still, heâd rather not think about it; heâd rather not torture himself by his brain wanting you to mean one thing, but his heart hoping it was another.
âI understand, Mr. Jeon,â you say, your voice a little too firm for his liking. âI apologize if it made you uncomfortable.â
âItââ didnât, he wants to say. It made him feel nice and comfortable and thatâs what he canât let himself feel around you.Â
âI treat this as part of my job,â you reason, a half lie because you really did want to extend some kindness even if he may not exactly be deserving of it. âBut it may not be so for you. Iâll take note of this moving forward.â
Jungkook concedes. Any objection will counter what heâs been saying, even if he didnât mean all of it. And like how you always do, you get over it quickly, flashing him a measured smile and taking out your iPad to go through this weekâs schedule.Â
You both head to the car after and discuss his previous meetings. Youâre detailed and engaged, taking down notes and asking him questions like the professional that you are. He tells you about his meeting with artist Lee Jaemin and that he agreed with 80% of the pieces that you and Yoongi chose. You talk about the Board membersâ reactions during his presentation and he shares what they talked to him about during the dinner.Â
âSocializing with them was tiring,â he admits. âI couldnât keep up with all the things that they wanted to talk about.â
You give him an assuring smile. âYou looked like you did well,â you assure him. âThey seemed engaged, although as Mr. Jung would say, part of that is for show, to get on your good side. It would be smarter to think that not all of it was genuine.â
âTrue. But I enjoyed speaking with Mr. Saito. Heâs an architect, too, and we had a really good talk about incorporating traditional elements in a modern design.â
âYes, heâs always been kind,â you say. âBut itâs good that youâre able to forge these relationships. Perhaps itâs also new to them, seeing you in that light. I suppose they donât know you all that much. Itâs a nice change being able to engage with you.â
âWhat do you mean?â
âAh, well, itâs just during the company events that you attended, it wasnât exactly hard to spot you,â you chuckle, seemingly comfortable now.
âAnd why is that so?âÂ
He turns to you, legitimately curious because heâd never really noticed you before, even if he knew you as Hoseokâs assistant. If heâs being honest, you didnât even look familiar when you first met, and that just reinforces the fact that Jungkook didnât really care for the other people around him, especially during those events he was required to fly to Seoul to attend. If heâd paid a bit more attention, maybe he wouldnât have been caught off guard when he did finally meet you. Maybe he wouldnât have been as rude, too.
âIf I may, sir, it was quite easy to spot one of the Jeon sons always at the bar,â you chuckle. âYour father and cousin would often look for you and you were always in the same spot.â
Youâd noticed him, Jungkook thinks to himself. He wonders what youâd thought about him then, but given how he hated those events, it probably wouldnât be something good. He just always couldnât wait to leave.Â
âAh. As you can tell, Iâm not one who likes to socialize,â he says. âI donât really know what to talk to people about. And Iâm not that good with names nor faces. It was easier to keep to myself.â
âThatâs understandable. But you already know thatâll have to change,â you remind him. âHalf of what Mr. Jung did was attend events.â
âI know. Heâs been preparing me for that. I need your help in that aspect, too, from remembering names to getting my energy up. Those are oddly what Iâm most nervous about, if Iâm being honest.â
âIâll do what I can, Mr. Jeon,â you assure him. âI hope I can make things easy for you.â
Youâll never know the irony of your words, and perhaps the push and pull it brings about - as you try to make things easy for him, the harder it actually becomes on his end.Â
You find yourself back at the tailor shop the next Thursday for Jungkookâs suit fitting, and if it wasnât for Taehyung telling you that your gowns are ready, you would have totally forgotten that you had some dresses made as well.Â
While Jungkook tries on his outfits, youâre instructed to choose several dress shirts that heâd be adding to his wardrobe, given the various functions heâd be attending from now on. You didnât anticipate for this to be part of your role, but you donât mind, as itâs a welcome change to what you normally do, which is attend meetings, bury yourself in paperwork, and everything else in between. At least youâll be visiting the venue for the Arts Center event tomorrow, but today, you focus on the task at hand, which turns out to be harder than expected.
The options are endless. It doesnât help that you have to envision Jungkook in each piece of clothing and that he looks good in every one of them, and that you have to imagine him at all. You see him everyday - and have seen him in as little as in just his gym shorts - and you donât really want to have him in your mind as well. But how he presents himself is a big part of his new role, as Hoseok had told you. As the Vice President, Jungkook needs to look sophisticated and respectable, someone worthy to represent the company and the Jeon family name.Â
You go for different hues of grays and blacks and other colors, too. Thereâs an olive green that looks really nice, and a few maroons and pinks that would add variety to his everyday look. Youâre focused on making your choices, but your focus shifts to Jungkook when he comes out of the dressing room donned in a patterned black suit. The fit is perfect and even with the distance between you two, you could spot impeccable details that make the outfit look elegant yet fresh.Â
âThis is for the gala,â Taehyung states. âWhat do you think, Ms. Cho?â
âIt looks niceâ is all you manage to say.Â
Itâs the only word you feel is neutral enough to describe him. Even if you could accept that Jungkook is handsome, you donât exactly want to say so in front of him.
âI was going for something better than nice, but that should be fine, I guess. What do you think, Kook?â
âI like it. But donât you think the sleeves are a bit too fit on my arms?â Jungkook asks his friend.
âWell, itâs not like you were flexing them when I was measuring you,â Taehyung playfully rolls his eyes. âBut I can adjust it, since I doubt youâd take a pause on lifting weights anyway. Itâs probably the material though so donât worry, Iâll fix this. Okay, on to the next one.â
You return to your task at hand, choosing some patterned tops that are appropriate for less formal events, and you inform Taehyung who then says that heâll have those made in Jungkookâs measurements. With your task finished, Taehyung instructs you to head downstairs so you could fit your gowns as well, and you follow in anticipation because these might just be the first and only custom-made pieces of clothing youâll ever have the luxury of wearing.
A female staff assists you, making sure that the length and neckline are to your liking. The first outfit, the one for the Arts Center event, is an old rose sleeveless lace midi dress that looks even more gorgeous when worn. The gown for the Appointment Dinner is a black short-sleeved pleated piece that is both functional and fashionable, but itâs the last one - the one for the gala - that has your jaw dropping to the ground.
âMs. Cho,â you hear Taehyung call out from outside the fitting room. âIs everything okay?â
âY-yeah,â you stutter, unable to stop looking at yourself in the mirror and turning around to try to see every angle of the stunning dress. âItâs just, uhâŠâ
âItâs what?â He asks worriedly. âCan you come outside so I can see?âÂ
You take a breath before pulling the heavy curtains open and find Taehyung and Jungkook standing not far away.
âItâs too pretty, Mr. Kim,â you say shyly. âI donât think I can wear this.â
âWell, you will. Because itâs custom-made,â he points out. âAnd it looks gorgeous on you. It fits perfectly. I assume the others do as well?â
âYes,â you smile, feeling like a fairytale princess who gets to wear a gown that her fairy godmother had made for her. âTheyâre justâŠâ
âExactly what you need as this guyâs right hand woman,â Taehyung finishes for you.
He gestures towards his best friend who seems expressionless and probably unimpressed by how you look. Itâs not like you mind but it at least wouldnât be humiliating if he just stood there looking uninterested.
âWhat do you think, Kook?â
âIt looks nice,â Jungkook shrugs, repeating the words youâd used on him earlier. Shifting his gaze from you to Taehyung, he excuses himself. âIâll head to the car, I have calls to make.â
âIâll finish up here,â you say, turning around to go back to the fitting room.
Jungkook exits the shop and finally breathes, feeling like heâd suffocated inside because of how you looked. Heâd wondered how the dresses turned out, curious about the designs because Taehyung didnât want to show him; itâs a surprise, the man had said. And now Jungkook knows why.Â
Stunning would be an inadequate word to use. The burgundy color of the gown made it look sophisticated on you, even more with the off-shoulder that showed off some of your features that heâd rather not think about. The flow was elegant, and he half wishes that he hadnât thought of having these made only so he could avoid the moment earlier when he felt his throat dry up because of how beautiful you looked.Â
Heâs gonna have to get used to being rendered speechless every time, he thinks, but itâs not like it doesnât happen everyday, anyway. Every morning that he finds you standing in his kitchen, donning the pencil skirt and blouse ensemble that assistants are recommended to wear, his mind short circuits. Thereâs something especially fresh and electrifying about you at the start of the day, and he always has to pull himself together and act normal around you without giving himself away.Â
He canât nurture the attraction, after all, even if heâs reminded of it during times like earlier, even more so when he gazes at you and you hold it, letting the tension build unconsciously. Because thatâs what happened, as you pulled open the curtains and looked up. He wishes you were too shy to notice how long he had his eyes on you. But itâs why he had to get away. Youâre too much for him sometimes, and he doesnât know if you have any idea of how you affect him.
Jungkook stares at his phone, half hoping that an actual call would come to distract him. But nothing does, and he leans his head back and groans in frustration. What is it about you that makes him absolutely weak in the knees and stupid in the head?Â
Back inside, you give Taehyung your address so he can have the gowns delivered to your apartment for your convenience.Â
âThank you again, Mr. Kim,â you say. âI wish I could do your creations justice.â
âYou will. Itâs in the confidence, so exude it, okay?â
âIâll try,â you giggle. âEspecially since those pieces will pretty much blow the Office of the VPâs budget.â
âIs that what Kook said? That these are budgeted under him?â Taehyung arches an eyebrow.
âUh, yes, sort of. I just assumed because heâd pointed out that they were being made as part of my functions,â you explain.Â
âHmm. I know his office has a lot of money but these gowns would definitely blow up any contingency fund you have,â he chuckles. âSo no, your assumption is wrong. Kookâs paying for all this.â
âWhat?â You exclaim. âBut thatâsâ why?â
âWell, you do need these as part of your job, and he wanted to save you the inconvenience of spending for them. I mean, he did buy Lucas some suits, too. But between you and me, I think this is his way of apologizing to you, just in a very gallant way.â
âYou mean unnecessary and undeserving,â you correct, still in shock that Jungkook is paying for all those, even if yes, he can easily afford them.Â
âNope, not at all. I know heâs been difficult to deal with and Iâd like to apologize on his behalf, seeing that heâs terrible at doing it. I know it doesnât make things better but at least itâs something you donât have to worry about anymore.â
âWell, that does help a bit,â you smile, following him as he heads out the door. âBut thank you again, Mr. Kim.â
âOff with the formalities,â he laughs. âItâs Taehyung. And youâre welcome. Itâs the least I could do to somehow make up for my ass of a best friend.âÂ
âHeâs not too bad. Not anymore, at least,â you counter. âIâll go ahead. Have a good day, Taehyung!â
Jungkook manages to look down on his phone in time for you not to see him watch you talk freely and casually with his friend. Thatâs another person close to him who gets to experience how youâre like - joyful and warm, perhaps a little shy sometimes, but comfortable just the same. Itâs something heâll only see from afar; your positions necessitate some distance, but perhaps thatâs better than not having you around at all.Â
You enter the car and youâre back to being quiet and reserved, your eyes focused on the road while Jungkook, in an effort not to keep glancing at you, turns to his leather notebook and doodles some designs that pop in his head. Itâs his way of calming himself down most days, helping him focus given that his mind is often filled with too many thoughts that he canât express. He hopes that in drawing them, he can somehow rid himself of the feelings heâs locked in and it helps, as heâs somehow able to get over the tension from earlier and the tiniest bit of jealousy over your casual engagement with Taehyung.
You both return to the office, with Jungkook proceeding to his room to prepare for a lunch meeting and you follow, taking some signed documents that heâd left earlier.
âMr. Jeon,â you say as he settles in his seat. âThank you for the dresses. I⊠Iâve never had anything as beautiful as those and undeserving as I may feel, Iâm just really appreciative.â
Jungkook isnât prepared for the softness in your voice as you say the words, and like the consistent jerk that he is, he brushes it off.
âTaehyung made them; you should thank him. I just paid for them,â he utters, his tone stern and uncaring.
His eyes flit to you when thereâs silence on your end, and he wishes they hadnât. Thereâs resignation in yours, as if heâs shattering another moment youâre creating where youâre just being sincere and heâs being dismissive. Itâs his default, he reasons, not just towards you but towards everyone. Normally he wouldnât mind how the other would take it, but with you right now, he wishes he was so much better than this.Â
You hold his gaze, as if trying to tell him things you donât want to express. Heâs not one to apologize, but he also wonât accept gratitude. Youâre starting to think that what Jungkook canât handle is any form of human connection. Itâs something you struggle with at times, but youâre at least open to it, willing to accept kindness and appreciating people for what they have to offer. Jungkook deflects; he turns away. It seemed like it took so much for him to even verbalize needing your help and perhaps he was desperate; his reputation was on the line after all. But even then, he doesnât give nor does he accept, and you wonder what made him that way.Â
âIs there anything else?â He finally asks after a long beat of silence.Â
âNothing more,â you shake your head and excuse yourself.Â
Returning to your desk, you look at Jungkook from your seat. Thereâs a hint of emptiness in his eyes that you often mistake for apathy. Perhaps thereâs more and perhaps the help he really needs isnât just about dealing with his father or remembering names or navigating relationships required for his role. Maybe itâs about opening himself up a little, or smiling when the situation calls for it, or not questioning other peopleâs kindness towards him. Maybe itâs about realizing heâs more than just this heir to the company or the playboy heâs known as. Maybe itâs about seeing that heâs capable of sincerity and gentleness as well.
You sigh to yourself. Itâs probably a long shot but you only feel strongly about it because you know what itâs like to turn people away. If it hadnât been for your family and friends, you probably wouldâve continued to do so. Jungkook may be your boss but heâs human, too, and he may just be waiting around to see whoâd be patient enough to extend a hand and let him know that heâs not alone, that someone understands, and maybe that someone is you.
The days fly by too quickly for your liking and you haven't been able to take a breath. You had a meeting with the organizing committee of the Appointment Dinner most of last Friday and you spent your weekend coordinating with the designers for the Arts Center launch. Itâs been last minute preparations these past two days and before you know it, Wednesday has come. You stayed late the night before and were gladly checked in at the hotel with the other assistants, so you at least got a bit of sleep even if your body felt like it continued to stay awake.Â
But tonight is important, as the newly appointed executives will be formally introduced to the corporationâs directors, shareholders, and subsidiary companies. Youâve been organizing this with the planning committee since the appointments were announced, and given that coordinating events like this is one of your primary tasks, youâre exhausted and excited and nervous all at once. But itâs the second time youâre doing this and youâve learned so much since you did this for Hoseok. Thereâs more knowledge, sure, but thereâs also more confidence. You also know enough to eat before the guests arrive and at 3PM, itâs exactly what you do, knowing you wonât have much else until the event ends.
The other employees compliment your dress, and youâre too shy to say who had designed it but you eventually do, knowing itâs good for Taehyungâs brand. But you donât say much else, choosing instead to focus on the guest list as youâre tasked to do, and you go around the events hall to make sure that the VIP name cards are placed on their proper tables. Youâre able to sneak bites of the canapes as you go, allowing yourself a flute of champagne for that kick you need to socialize with the guests tonight.Â
You engage with the early birds when they arrive, guiding them to their seats and putting on your most welcoming smile. You get Mr. Riâs message that theyâre nearby, so you head outside and stand by the entrance and wait for them, knowing Jungkook would want to know how things are going.
He exits the car in a black suit and white top, a statement brooch adorning his classic coat. The strands of his long hair are tucked behind his ears and he looks even more polished than usual, a look that catches attention; it definitely catches yours.Â
âMr. Jeon,â you bow in greeting. âSome of your invited guests have arrived.âÂ
âHave you spoken to them?â He asks, as you walk slightly behind him towards the venue.Â
âI have, and theyâre looking forward to seeing you.âÂ
He nods, and just as heâs about to enter the hall, he stops and turns towards you.Â
âYouâre busy tonight, arenât you?â
âSomewhat, sir,â you reply. âWe all have our tasks but Iâm free to move around. Do you need help with anything?â
âJust, uh, names.â
âIâll always be nearby,â you assure him.Â
Your smile gives him the comfort he needs. Heâs been without it since yesterday afternoon, given that you had to prepare as part of the organizing committee. And while the support team and Yoongi have been encouraging, only you really know why every event such as this is important for him.Â
Jungkook has already made gains with some of the Board members last week; this time, itâs about engaging everyone else - the staff, the partners, and key personalities in the industry. Hoseok and Ji-woo have done this before but itâs Jungkookâs first time. Heâs no longer just an executive in the Southeast Asian office; heâs now the Vice President of the entire company. Thereâs a lot of pressure that comes from carrying the Jeon family name, and even more being the only one of the two sons whoâs taking on such an important role.Â
The event hall is grand. Itâs pretty special, too. Itâs one of the projects he worked on as part of the design department years ago before he left for Singapore, and the thought makes him stop. Perhaps this is the reason why his father chose this venue for tonight; if anything, itâs a reminder of what Jungkook is capable of. He takes a breath and looks around to soak everything in before approaching his invited guests - partners and consultants he worked with in his previous role.Â
But that ends quickly, as many more people approach him for a greeting.Â
Jungkook is a bit overwhelmed. He tries to hold eye contact when he speaks to them but he can only do so for so long. Some faces are familiar but the names escape him, and he starts to regret all the times that he flew here for events like this and never engaged with the other guests. If he had, perhaps this wouldnât be so hard.Â
There are those who introduce themselves, while there are those who donât, perhaps assuming that heâd know who they are. Just like the couple whoâs speaking to him excitedly, and he wants to return the energy by at least calling them by their names. His mind is blank, and just as heâs about to give up, he looks up and sees you, your eyes catching his as if youâre just waiting for his cry for help.Â
Thereâs pleading in his eyes and you get it immediately, as you walk towards his direction then greet the pair next to him.
âMr. and Mrs. Yamada,â you say. âItâs lovely to see both of you again. I saw in the news that youâre launching a new project with our partners from Dubai. Thatâs quite exciting.â
âAh, Ms. Cho,â they greet you back. âYes, all thanks to Mr. Jung who helped us with that partnership. Weâre excited for it as well.â
âOh, Iâm sure. Weâre looking forward to it,â you smile.
âThank you. Iâm pleased to know that you remain as the Vice Presidentâs assistant,â Mrs. Yamada says. âPerhaps we can invite Mr. Jeon to one of our hotels in Japan? Or even in London?â
You turn to Jungkook who looks less tense than he did a few minutes ago.
âAh, yes, that would be great, Mr. and Mrs. Yamada,â he responds. âIâm sure Iâll find time during one of my trips and Iâll definitely give you a call. Perhaps we can talk about projects we can work on as well.â
The excitement in the coupleâs faces is a joy to see and for their sake, you really do wish that Jungkook makes good on his promise. You ask him about it after they leave, and he says that the names were familiar. Ji-wooâs talked about working with them before and that theyâre long-time friends of the family, so he should maintain that relationship.Â
A call of his name prompts both of you to look to the side, and he turns to you with a questioning face.Â
âMr. Adamâs an investor. Behind him is Professor Zhang from SNU. Theyâre friends of your father,â you tell him. Seeing Bitna signal for you, you say, âI have to check on something, Mr. Jeon. Iâll be back.â
You turn around to head to one of the tables, but you look back to watch Jungkook greet those who approach him, his smile becoming more natural as the moments pass by. You briefly meet with some staff about the musical guest and some other last minute adjustments. You greet Taehyung and Seokjin who show up to support their best friend, with both men complimenting how you look.
Knowing that Jungkook will be needing you again after, you call over Do-hyun and Yohan and delegate some of your monitoring tasks to them, and then stand by one of the tables as you watch the socialization take place as more guests come in.
Your eyes find Jungkook again as heâs engaged in a conversation with some Board members and other partners, and you smile a little at how heâs able to maintain eye contact and look like heâs actually interested, especially after he looks up and gives you a look as if to say that heâs trying his best.Â
âWhy are you watching him like some child whoâs trying to make friends at the playground?â Chin-sun asks, the teasing tone of her voice making you chuckle. âHeâs a grown man, you know? He can hold his own.â
âI know,â you reply, turning to her. âBut itâs one of the many things thatâs new about his role. And probably one of the more important ones. I just wanna let him know that heâs doing a good job.â
âWell, thereâs no wife or girlfriend to do that. I guess that makes it your responsibility then.â
You disregard her commentâs implication and point out that Hoseok does that for Jungkook, too, but heâs just as busy and perhaps just as nervous as well.Â
âIt matters a lot to hear it. Plus, social events can be overwhelming and isolating at the same time. Heâs still getting used to it,â you add.
The prolonged silence prompts you to turn to her.
âYou know, I admire you for a lot of things,â she says. âYour ability to remain kind after everything is one of them. I mean, after how he treated you those first few weeks? That was tough.â
Your resigned face pushes her to continue. âDo-hyun couldâve gone on without telling me about seeing you cry and I still wouldâve known. You tried to hide it but your smile always fell too fast and your eyes were just always sad. Mustâve been hard, trying to get the team on his side when you couldnât do that for yourself.â
âI honestly donât know how I survived that first month,â you laugh to mask the sadness from that experience. âBut thatâs in the past. He still has his moments but at least there are good ones now. Iâm here to do my job. Being kind after everything is part of it.â
âI wish you didnât have to keep it to yourself though,â she laments. âIf we couldnât help, we couldâve at least cheered you up.â
âI didnât want to bring you guys into it,â you say. âThe team was incredibly busy with so many things and I managed. Thatâs what matters.â
âOh, ___,â she sighs. âYou put so much of yourself in your job. I think thatâs why the bosses trust you. But that takes so much out of you, too. Do you have anything left for yourself?â
âWhatâs left is right here, Chin-sun. I donât think I know what I am outside of all this.â
âDoesnât that bother you? I mean, Iâve worked with you for three years and I canât say I really know you outside of this, too. And if you canât⊠well, thatâs something to think about.â
âAnd I have. Itâs something Iâve asked myself, but trying to find the answer isnât as easy as asking the question. So I just put all my energy into my work because where else would I? It at least pays the bills and lets me enjoy little luxuries every once in a while,â you reason.Â
âWell, I know what learning who you are outside of this job would entail, and Iâm a little selfish because I need you around,â she smiles. âNo one does things the way you do, and thatâs also why I figured that at some point, Mr. Jeon was gonna get himself together because he canât afford to lose you. Youâre so good at this, ___. Heâs lucky you didnât quit.â
âApparently, it takes a lot to get me to quit,â you reply.Â
Or I was just never brave enough to do it, you want to say. Asking the question is indeed always easier than finding the answer.Â
âLetâs hope you find a way to find yourself without resigning. We canât afford to lose you, too,â she winks.Â
âI appreciate that, Chin-sun. Thank you.â
âWell, I think it matters that you know that youâre doing amazing. I hope he treats you as you deserve.â
He tries, you think to yourself. At least thatâs what you hope.Â
The call of your names from a familiar voice excites you, as A-yeong approaches you and Chin-sun. You engage in your usual hushed conversations until you see Jungkook in another sea of people and you decide to approach him, the relief on his face telling you that heâs indeed been needing you.Â
Itâs not your preferred crowd. Something youâve learned in your years of attending these events is that you would smile and entertain them and men would think itâs an invitation to invade your personal space. A lingering touch on the elbow, a hand on your waist, standing a millimeter too close⊠and they disregard your uncomfortable look or attempts at stepping away.Â
The man youâre introduced to is new but his ways arenât, and you scan the hall to find Bitna who turns to you in time, the look you give her signaling another person to look out for. Itâs a system they developed that theyâve filled you in on, and you immediately excuse yourself and check on the food served at the back even if you know theyâre still well stocked. It at least allows you a breather. Youâre not even a main actor but youâre tired as hell from socializing with people.Â
Itâs not long after when the event starts. Speeches and a performance take place while dishes are being put out, and itâs after the main course is served when Jungkook steps away from his seat.Â
Choosing to stand towards the back before heâs called on stage to be introduced, he scans the hall and thinks about the work that the committee put in, including you, who had to deal with him while dealing with all this. He catches sight of you speaking with the other assistants, and he already knows thereâs some planning going on. But like the last time, he felt you around even if you were busy; you held his gaze during the times he felt a little overwhelmed.Â
âYou ready?â
Yoongiâs voice is deep but calming, and Jungkook takes it as his friendâs way of encouraging him.Â
âNot really, but Iâll manage.âÂ
âGood. Youâve got people on your side,â Yoongi assures him. âLike me. And especially her.â
He gestures towards the left where Jungkook sees you approaching them. Since you started working for him, he didnât expect how easily he could find comfort in your presence. He went from wishing you were someone else, to wanting to distance himself from you, to constantly hoping you were around. Those last two could actually coexist, and they do. Thereâs still detachment as his means to combat the attraction - he tries not to care about you, to not get to know you, to remind himself of who you are in his life, but he still depends on you for support, for comfort, for stability. You make his life easier; you also make it feel less lonely. And every time youâre there is a moment where he feels like he could breathe, like the noise in his mind stills because heâs forced to focus on you; somehow, you captivate him that way.Â
âAre you ready, Mr. Jeon?â
The contrasting tenderness of your voice gives him that boost and he nods despite the lingering nervousness.
âI guess so,â he huffs. âLetâs get this over with.â
He walks towards his seat up front while you stay behind with Yoongi who leads you to one of the free tables at the back. You both donât say much to each other, focusing instead on the short speeches that Ji-woo and Hoseok give, both of them expressing their gratitude and giving previews of upcoming projects to look forward to. Theyâre masters at commanding a crowd, as evidenced by their engagement and loud applause at the end of it. You can already imagine Jungkook feeling even more nervous, knowing thatâs not really his style, but you hope that your earlier encouragement lingers, as he walks towards the stage.
He delivers his speech flawlessly. Knowing him the way you do, you could tell he let his vulnerability shine through, even if it may not seem much to everyone else. The teaser about the Arts Center gets people excited, which he builds up on. He even slides in a few jokes that surprisingly get the audience entertained.Â
A small smile paints your face and from next to you, Yoongi chuckles in almost disbelief.Â
âIs it safe to say youâre proud of him?â He asks, as Jungkook walks down the stage and CEO Jeon takes the mic.Â
âYou could say that,â you turn to him. âItâs silly, considering how things started. I⊠I didnât think Iâd be genuinely rooting for him, you know? But I am. I really want him to do well.â
âThatâs good to hear, ___. I guess it means that things really are changing and heâs treating you better.â
âI think they are,â you hum. âI mean, not the best, but I also donât know what thatâs supposed to look like. I guess Iâm just understanding who he is a little bit better now. And I think that makes the difference.â
âLike I said, heâs not a terrible person. He just needs⊠someone to be patient with him, someone to show him kindness,â Yoongi says. âI think thatâs what he lost along the way. He stopped being that way to himself and so did people. They just didnât want to upset him, but they also didnât give or show anything more.â
âYou think so?â
âWhy do you think itâs so hard for him to forge even the simplest and most basic connections?â Yoongi questions. âThey lack meaning for him. I think heâs forgotten what thatâs like. Without sincerity or kindness, without intensity or honesty, thereâs just⊠emptiness. Everything is fleeting for him.â
âAnd youâre telling me this, why?â You eye him curiously.Â
âBecause I think your kindness did something to him.â
âAnd that is?â
âHeâs showing a bit of that to himself, too. And I guess to others as well,â Yoongi explains.Â
âIâm a mere assistant doing her job, Yoongi,â you shake your head. âItâs a little selfish but I do what I can to appease him and to make our relationship good enough to make this job bearable for me. If it makes him a better person, good for him and better for me. Iâll just keep doing it then.â
Your friendâs silence prompts you to turn towards him. He seems to be in deep thought, perhaps analyzing what youâd just said, which he tends to do.Â
Thereâs no lie in your statement. Youâd done your part of standing up to Jungkook at the start; you at least got to show you were capable of fighting for yourself in that sense. But after that, you learned that keeping things in and letting him see how his actions affect you works as well. You show kindness because itâs natural for you, but also because it keeps the peace, it keeps both of you stable.Â
But you can also admit that you do all that because wanting him to know that heâs got you on his side is a way to tell yourself that youâve got people rooting for you, too, even if youâre not the best at keeping relationships nor keeping people close. You show Jungkook what you want to experience from people; you make him feel what you want to feel. Maybe that makes you selfish. You think it also makes you human.
Itâs not something you tell Yoongi, though. But maybe with the way he looks at you assuringly, you suppose he knows it, too.
The event finally ends and the guests start exiting the venue. You bid them goodbye while instructing some in-house staff about cleaning up. Mr. and Mrs. Jeon greet you on their way out, commending you for your work along with the others, and itâs their encouraging smiles that remind you of one of the reasons why you stick to this job. Theyâre people you donât want to disappoint as well, and seeing them satisfied is always a good thing.Â
âHey, youâre officially off the clock,â Bitna reminds you. âA couple of us are staying for closing, remember?â
âRight,â you smile.Â
They have a day off tomorrow because of tonight but itâs not something you can afford, given that youâve got the Arts Center event one a week from now. Itâs almost midnight and youâd have to be up in 5 hours.
âIâll get going then. Iâll just say goodbye toâ oh, Mr. Jeon,â you say, finding him just as you were about to look for him. âIs there anything I can help you with before I leave?â
âOh, thereâs nothing. Just, uh, how are you getting home?â
âA cab,â you answer.Â
Yoongi nudges your arm from next to you with a pout on his face. âYah! Iâll take you home. Itâs not safe to take a cab this late.â
âYes, thatâs preferable, Ms. Cho,â Jungkook says. âItâs been a long night.â
âOkay, sir,â you nod. âAnd it has. You also did really well. I didnât expect the jokes but they were obviously a hit. Yoongi laughed, thatâs how I know.â
âYou laughed, too,â Yoongi points out.
âIâm glad it worked, then,â Jungkook says. âYou can get going. You can also report to my place at 8AM to give you more time to rest. Iâll see you tomorrow.â
Jungkook heads out and rushes to the car where Mr. Ri drives him home. His mind is still buzzing from what transpired but heâs glad he managed like he said he would, like you believed he would.Â
And amidst the relief that he did well and the nervousness from having to do something similar again next week, thereâs you, a vision that he quickly shakes off and one he finds himself seeing after every big and small thing that he does.Â
Your warm shower and your bed have never felt this good, only because youâre as tired as you are and you want nothing more than the weekend to come. But youâve got a few more stressful days ahead of you and you try to push through them one at a time.
You go to Jungkook later than usual that Thursday then spend much of the entire day meeting with him and the team about next weekâs event. You conduct a visit to the venue the next day and then spend the weekend answering guestsâ queries and helping Chin-sun coordinate with suppliers. Monday and Tuesday have you going from one place to another and hopping from one meeting to the next, all while balancing your executive assistant and events manager responsibilities.Â
Itâs incredibly tiring, but you also wonât deny the exhilaration you feel. Thereâs something so satisfying about seeing everything come together, especially as you look around the venue - an industrial commercial space that Jungkook and Yoongi jointly designed specifically for tonight. The high ceilings allow for the large panels that project the Arts Center design, with bright lights Illuminating the curated sculptures and art pieces placed around. The space elicits a feeling of newness and familiarity, of hollowness and clarity. Thereâs integration of traditional and modern elements and essentially, of history and emergence.Â
It leaves you quite breathless as you look around. Itâs not even the Arts Center itself but you know that this is the emotion that Jungkook wants the guests to feel. He wants them to be in awe, to look on in excitement.Â
âItâs pretty great, huh?â Yoongi asks next to you. âWorth all the hard work.â
âIt is. Design and logistics did amazing in putting this together,â you say, given that youâve spent the entire day working with both teams to set this up.
âWell, Jungkookâs vision is captivating to begin with. It really makes a difference when youâre led by a creative mind. Selling the idea wonât be so hard in a place like this.â
âI really hope so. Weâre banking on the artists for exposure. There are gonna be articles about it, too. The whole process is being documented and that makes the final product much more exciting,â you explain. âI⊠I actually feel really good being a part of this. Iâm glad I didnât quit after that first week.â
Yoongi laughs along with you, knowing now that that experience no longer bothers you the way it used to. But heâs glad about it, too, not only because he selfishly wants you around but even more, he knew that you needed this, that you needed to feel redeemed in Jungkookâs eyes and in yours. Yoongi hopes that as the project goes on, youâll learn more about yourself and what you want, what youâre good at, what you can give, and what makes you happy.Â
âThat makes both of us. Iâm sure Jungkook thinks so, too,â Yoongi replies.
âWell, weâll never know because heâll probably never admit it but itâs a good thought,â you smile. âAs long as we maintain this unproblematic dynamic, Iâm good.â
âSpeaking of which, where is he?â
âOn the way,â you say. âHe had a meeting to attend and he said heâll be fixing up here. He should be here in a few minutes.â
Do-hyun approaches you about the photographer and you excuse yourself, instructing Yohan next to her to lead Jungkook to the waiting room when he arrives.Â
Jungkook steps into the venue and like heâd hoped, he feels the energy as he takes it all in. Thereâs a lot of possibility as he looks around, and thatâs what he wants the guests to see. He wants the artists to envision their own pieces displayed; he wants the creatives to imagine fashion shows and photo shoots and videos that come to life; he wants people to see the potential of an Arts Center beyond just looking at art pieces.
But underneath the pride is nervousness. There will be important personalities coming today and itâs his opportunity to engage with them, to make them want to be a part of this. Talking about the details of the project would be easy; itâs connecting with them thatâs a challenge. He had last weekâs Appointment Dinner as a trial and like you said, he did well. Itâs tonight that matters so much more to him. He supposes that what happens will set the trajectory for how the promotion of the Center will go, so making a good first impression is crucial.Â
Yohan approaches him and leads him towards the waiting room where his outfit, which Taehyung had pressed and sent over here, hangs on a rack. There are two magazine publications that will feature this event and both include an interview with him and some photos.Â
Jungkook starts dressing up, knowing heâll be called for those not long from now. He looks at himself in the mirror and the uncertainty fills him again. Itâs not the look he wouldâve gone for but his best friend was adamant that an event like this calls for something new. With his trousers and fitted shirt on, Jungkook breathes in and out, and itâs at the same time when thereâs a knock on the door and your call of his name suddenly makes him nervous.Â
You enter, stopping as you shut the door, your eyes a little wide, and look at him. Youâre a sight to behold in your floral-laced dress and if he was anxious seconds ago, heâs even more now.
âI knew I shouldâve stuck to the classic,â Jungkook sighs at your unmoving form.Â
âWhatâwhat do you mean, Mr. Jeon?â You ask, finally finding your voice.Â
âYouâre not saying anything,â he frowns. âTonight probably wasnât the best time to show up in an outfit like this.â
âAnd why is that?â You wonder, walking closer to him now. You try to calm your racing heart because Jungkook looking this good in a checkered flared trouser and white v-neck shirt was not something you expected. âYou lookâŠâ
âPretentious?â He chuckles, shaking his head and bending towards the mirror, his angled body making you feel even hotter.
Youâve long accepted that Jungkook is a very handsome man. Itâs probably why it was more frustrating despising him and, like Soomin said, also satisfying. Heâs got a perfect mix of boyish and manly features with his doe eyes and chiseled jaw; the aura of confidence and nonchalance perhaps add to that as well. It also doesnât help that he has a really good physique, something youâd seen on his first day on the job and one youâd denied affected you. Youâd gotten used to it somehow. Hard as it was to suppress those thoughts every time you fixed his tie or watched him walk about his penthouse in his gym clothes, you managed. Youâve always been professional, and youâve always reminded yourself to not let it affect you.
But tonight, itâs just hard not to, especially with the way his biceps are popping out of those short sleeves; and if the shirt were an inch tighter, youâd probably be able to trace his toned chest and abs as well. Heâs cut his hair, too, slick and pushed back as if he's starring in some western rockstar film.Â
âGoodâŠâ you manage to say after what seemed like minutes. âThe outfit looks good on you, sir. Itâs new and fresh, not like the usual formal attire that screams âbusinessman who only wants profits.â This is posh and stylish. It makes you look more approachable.â
âThis is what would make me look approachable?â He asks incredulously.
âActually, a smile would,â you say too quickly, earning you a laugh. âBut this works, too. It fits with the theme.â
âThatâs what Tae said, too,â Jungkook sighs. âHe insisted that at least for these Arts Center-related events, I should dress a little more boldly and more interesting, things I definitely am not but, well, I couldnât counter him when he said that my usual prints and styles make me look like Iâm just going to a meeting or some business conference.â
âAnd heâs not wrong,â you point out, walking closer to him. âYou donât need anything eccentric, just something exciting. This is simple yet sophisticated.â
âHave you seen the coat?â He asks, gesturing to the rack when you say no.
âOh. Thereâs a corsage,â you say, admiring the matching brown checkered piece.
âAn oversized one,â he rolls his eyes.Â
âIt looks pretty.â
âThatâs what he said, too.â
âIf you donât like it, why didnât you tell him during the fitting?â
âI did like it but itâs Tae - heâs good at convincing people that they look good. And I probably thought that, too. But heâs not yet here and heâs gonna be late so right now, all I can think about is that Iâll look ridiculous.â
âWell, that makes one of us,â you say, surprising him. âIf what I think matters, then youâd have to take my word for it. The outfit looks good. It captures peopleâs attention and thatâs what you need. Youâre just gonna have to follow this up with similar styles but that wouldnât be a problem. Just carry yourself with confidence. Itâs what Mr. Kim would say.â
âI know. He texted that same line to me five times today.â
âHeâs your best friend, Mr. Jeon. Iâm sure heâs looking out for your best interest.â
âTrue, but then again, we were forced to become friends when we were young so who knows?â
You laugh at his words. âIs that so?â
âOur fathers are best friends so we spent a lot of time together,â Jungkook shares. âWe were all so different and we got on each otherâs nerves but I guess that made us closer. I⊠I wasnât close to my brother so I just stuck with those who stuck around. Itâs a good thing they turned out to be decent people.â
âTheyâre very kind, I should say.â
âYeah. It sucks that their kindness didnât rub off on me,â he says as he holds your gaze.
The tension rises as you look back at him. Itâs hard not to fall into his eyes, and youâre thankful for the knock on the door and Yohanâs voice on the other side saying that the interviewer is ready for Jungkook now.Â
âFive minutes,â you call out, breaking the moment and retrieving his last piece of clothing.Â
You assist him in wearing his coat and just like reflex, you immediately fix the sleeves and adjust the corsage that isnât actually that big. You look at him from head to toe and see Taehyungâs vision. Thereâs something captivating about Jungkook in this fit; it makes him intriguing and someone to look out for. You suppose that was the intention.
âRespectable enough?â He asks worriedly once you meet his eyes.
âRespectable enough,â you affirm, hoping your smile can give him the encouragement he needs.Â
You open the door and let the first set of crew in. You watch on as they interview and take snapshots while your own team from the marketing department capture whatâs happening as well.Â
Jungkook sits cross-legged on the sofa, his eyes looking out into the distance as he absorbs the questions and thinks of his answers. He gesticulates as he responds, something you noticed him only ever do about topics that seem very important to him. Heâs done it during meetings with the team and with Yoongi, and you suppose thereâs that level of honesty that he shows then. His responses are thoughtful and profound, as the questions revolve around the type of art pieces to be displayed, how culture can be celebrated and respected, and what the public can look forward to once the Center is open to everyone.Â
The next interviewer starts off with the practical questions before moving to the technicalities of the design and structure such as the materials used, the techniques utilized in renovating such a massive complex, and how the Center itself represents art and culture. This is when Jungkook fully relaxes. You see it in his body language, in the softness of his expressions, and in the mellow tone of his voice as he discusses in terms you donât fully understand but somehow still make you feel like you know exactly what heâs talking about.
Itâs different seeing him in this way. Your team vetted these interviewers and publications and they seem sincere about their articles and so you know they arenât there to judge; Jungkook knows they arenât there to scrutinize him. Heâs not there to impress them or even to sell the idea; he just wants to share it, to make it known, to narrate the process of this project that may still be in its very early stages but which has lived in his mind for years.
He may not always be good with words but you can tell that he finds them when the ideas are clear to him. Heâs able to articulate what he sees in his mind and thereâs something captivating about that. Thereâs a lot you can learn from him, you think, and if what you develop after having stayed this long is even just a fraction of his creativity, then youâd feel accomplished.Â
You can tell even more now how important this is to him, especially when he emphasizes the individualâs need and desire for connection and how he wants the Center to be a hub for that, or perhaps its creator. You wonder if he knows so much about it, or if, like you, itâs something he also constantly seeks.Â
Youâre so focused on taking him all in that you donât notice that youâve been staring. Your eyes fall on his fingers, waving about as he draws imaginary pictures; they land on his lips, pink and dry as they utter words that are perhaps the most heâs said, and suddenly, his voice is the most comforting itâs ever sounded to you. You look upwards and thatâs when you notice it - his eyes are on you just as yours are on him yet he continues talking, and you hold onto it for a few seconds before you feel the heat reach your cheeks. It feels like a burn and you snap out of the spell-like feeling you were caught in as you turn away now and try to catch your breath.
You hadnât meant to stare but you were drawn to him at that moment, and as he talked about how the designs reflect the tangibility yet elusiveness of human connection, you found yourself drowning in his words and in the way he said them. Heâd caught you before you could look away, and you decide that the only way to go about it is to pretend it didnât happen.
And thatâs what you do, as you remain on your spot with your eyes scanning the room, no longer focused on him.
The interview ends right as Chin-sun enters to say that some guests have arrived. You instruct her to entertain them first with Manager Lee as you wrap up in here and itâs not long after when youâre left with Jungkook once again.
âWas that good?â He asks, his gaze on you as you look elsewhere.
âIt was. You seemed more relaxed,â you state, unnecessarily fixing the couch to distract yourself. âThatâs a good way to start the evening, Mr. Jeon. Iâm sure the guests would enjoy speaking with you tonight.â
âThatâs what I hope,â he replies. âIâll need you close to me to keep track of scheduled meetings or any invitations. Iâd also like them to be familiar with you as my assistant so they know who to reach out to in case Iâm not available.â
âOf course, sir,â you say, turning around to face him again, suddenly feeling nervous about the intensity of his look. âIâll take note of all those.âÂ
He nods then exits the room and you follow. You trail him as he starts to greet the guests one by one.
There are heads of private foundations and curators. There are creative directors from entertainment agencies and some art enthusiasts. There are artists and authors and poets, all of whom are intrigued and seemingly excited about whatâs in store.Â
Jungkook heads to the front after being introduced by Manager Lee and takes his time to introduce the project, utilizing the panels and all of the interiorsâ walls to showcase the design virtually. He presents his plans and the role of artists, creatives, creators, and consumers. Itâs a half hour speech that ends, followed by a light sit-down dinner that Jungkook takes advantage of to engage with the guests.Â
He first greets the deputy minister of the arts and culture ministry and then Mr. Saito, whoâd likewise brought some of his artist friends from Japan.Â
You then follow Jungkook around as instructed, taking notes on your phone in between to list all the upcoming meetings and other activities scheduled on the spot. Youâve somehow developed this skill with Hoseok but it still doesnât get any easier. The fact that so many of them want to touch base with Jungkook after his pitch says a lot about how well he did and how much it resonated with the people he wanted to connect with.Â
Based on your notes, you can already tell itâs gonna be incredibly busy moving forward, and the thought suddenly makes your head hurt. But you push through, knowing there are more people to meet with, even with Chin-sun and Manager Lee entertaining half of them.Â
Jungkook takes the stage again to introduce some of the artists whose works will be displayed in the Arts Center, and he gives them time to talk about their pieces and what drew them into the project. The company head whoâs been contracted to create the products for the souvenir shop also speaks, and as they share, you feel the excitement heighten. The opening is still a long time from now but things seem so clear and so certain, and you know that was because of Jungkook - because he demands the same level of excellence he practices from others, because heâs committed to his vision and he makes sure to see it through.Â
More engagement takes place, and your only breather is when Jungkook decides to talk to his father and then Hoseok but after that, youâre back to following him around and running out of calling cards for people to keep and call you in the future.Â
The last of the remaining guests finally leave at 10PM. You look around and the art pieces are being carefully wrapped for transport. The panels remain but Do-hyun and Yohan will be returning in the morning to pack everything up. Slowly, you start to feel the soreness creep in and the headache intensify but you shake all the pain off. There are two more days left for the week and you just have to power through them to survive.Â
âYou sure you donât want me to drive you home?â Chin-sun asks as she readies to leave.
âI live on the other side of the city from you. From all of you,â you remind them. Itâs really the only reason why you donât hitch a ride with them, especially considering that they have families and pets they go home to. âIâll be fine, donât worry.â
âWhat about Yoongi?â Jungkook asks, surprising you because you thought heâd been on the phone. âCanât he drive you?â
âHe left an hour ago, Mr. Jeon,â you reply. âHe has that early morning flight to Jeju tomorrow.â
âMr. Ri can drive you home after he drops me off,â Jungkook says. âItâs too late in the night and it might be hard for you to get a cab.â
âOkay, sir. Thank you,â you mumble, waving everybody goodbye as you follow him towards the car.Â
You get inside and find him sitting in the backseat, his coat removed and his head rolled back. You can tell all the socializing drained his energy again, and youâd hate to remind him that thereâs a Property Expo next week that his father assigned him to attend, as well as a Partnersâ Fellowship Dinner where he has to deliver another speech. You decide to do so in the morning instead and let the soft sounds of the radio soothe your mind.
âI think tonight was a success,â he mutters, prompting you to turn towards him. âEveryone I spoke to seemed excited.â
âThey were,â you affirm. âThey wouldnât be scheduling meetings with you if they werenât.â
âThatâs true,â he hums. âThatâs one major event down and several more to go.â
âI hope the team was able to show you how well we work together, Mr. Jeon. And that like me, theyâre all on your side.â
Jungkook lets your words settle. He agrees. The team was like a well-oiled machine. Each member knew their roles and performed their tasks excellently. And there was you, of course, handling every one of his instructions and requests with grace. You looked really beautiful doing it, too, and he doesnât know if he wants to thank or curse Taehyung for designing another dress that makes you stand out from the crowd because thatâs what happened tonight - everywhere Jungkook looked, it seemed like all he could see was you.
He shakes away the thought, knowing that constantly acknowledging his attraction towards you would just make things harder for him the way that denying it would, and while he doesnât have a solution for that either, he supposes that not acknowledging it at all would be the best option.Â
So he focuses on the team instead, and he feels comforted to know that they worked hard because they knew how much tonight mattered to him, as Do-hyun expressed earlier.Â
âIâm glad they are,â he finally replies. âI⊠I still donât think Iâm their favorite person but as long as they donât despise me anymore, then Iâm satisfied with that.â
âThey donât,â you counter, although even youâd know thatâs a half-lie.
âThey do. Or did, at least,â he laughs dryly. âItâs easy to stay unnoticed outside of the teamâs office, you know?â
The tinge of sadness in his eyes confirms what youâre thinking - heâs heard some of the team conversations about him. And while youâd argue that theyâre not vile or anything close to that, you also know that talking about him not smiling or not expressing his gratitude are things you shouldnât be saying behind his back. Even if theyâre true.
âIâm so, so sorry, Mr. Jeon. Weââ
âItâs okay, itâs not a big deal,â he interjects. âI mean, itâs not like I havenât given you reasons to feel that way. You all did go from Hoseok to me and thatâs quite the downgrade in terms of camaraderie and stuff.â
âWe still didnât have the right to say those things. And no, Iâm not agreeing that youâre a downgrade,â you clarify. âLike you said, you and your cousin are very different.â
âI did. And thatâs why Iâm not surprised, is all Iâm saying. But despite all that, the team did amazing tonight. Not like Iâd expect they wouldnât because they prefer someone more joyful or expressive, but it⊠it was also nice to see them enjoying themselves. I hope you did, too.â
âIt was a memorable experience, Mr. Jeon,â you say. âItâs something new. The previous projects and events we handled were either residential or commercial in nature and our creativity wasnât pushed as far as the Arts Center is doing. And we all appreciate that, even if we may not show it.â
âThatâs good. At least thereâs still something that youâre all getting out of this.â
Thereâs a sadness in his voice that youâre hearing for the first time. You donât know what about tonight thatâs making him vulnerable and honest with you. Perhaps itâs all the talk about human connection that he seems to struggle with, and maybe heâs realizing now that even with the team performing as well as they are, thereâs still something lacking in soul and emotion that he thinks is because of him.Â
Whatever it is, you hope that he doesnât let it bring him down too much. Working closely with him, youâve come to see more of him despite his efforts to keep those layers unpeeled and youâve come to understand him a little more. Youâve forgiven him in the process, too. The team is still adjusting and you know itâs your job to bridge that gap. Youâll just have to figure out how.Â
You let the silence end the conversation, not knowing what else you can say to comfort him at this moment. But you try though, as the car stops in front of his building and you call his name right before he closes the door.
âYeah?â He asks, looking curiously at you.Â
You almost forget what youâre about to say as heâs bent forward, his arm propped on the car roof, the surrounding lights highlighting the features of his face.Â
âYou did great tonight, too. And I learned a lot from you. Thank you for guiding us, sir.â
Heâs left speechless, as he holds your gaze for a moment before nodding and closing the door. Mr. Ri drives away and you look back to see Jungkook walk slowly towards the building entrance, briefly looking your way before disappearing inside.Â
You arrive at the office the next morning at 9AM with a splitting headache, your body dragging itself towards your chair as you try to maintain balance and get yourself together. Jungkook had messaged late last night that he was going to have a breakfast meeting with his father so you could go straight to work, and given last nightâs late finish, you could come at a later time as well.
That gave you another two hours of sleep, which you were thankful for considering the terrible state you were in when you woke up. Your body felt sore and the dryness of your throat signaled that youâre about to get sick - it was just a matter of when it was going to fully kick in. Itâs how your body reacts to stress, a pattern you noticed since you started working in the company. Itâs usually after succeeding weeks of late nights and big events when you give in - the headaches start then the sore throat; not long after, the fever hits and youâd have to spend days just doing nothing until youâve expelled the exhaustion away.Â
On rare occasions, your mother or friends come, knowing youâd be too sick to make yourself some food. But they donât always have that luxury. They have their own lives, too, lives that they just happen to have far away from you. But itâs why it mattered that you gave Jungkook that noodle soup when he was unwell. You know what itâs like to be sick and hungry and completely helpless, and you had a feeling that just like yourself, heâd deal with it on his own. Youâll probably have to stock up on food tonight to get you through the next few days; you just hope you havenât completely fallen apart by then.
You take your medicines and try to focus on your tasks for this morning, scheduling meetings and screening photos from last night to be used for marketing purposes. Needing some tea, you head to the pantry and briefly check in with the team before heading back. You see that Jungkook has just arrived, as he accompanied his father to one of their project sites after their meeting. He calls you over and asks if Do-hyun and Yohan have come back from fixing things at last nightâs venue.
âYes, sir, they just got here,â you reply. âEverythingâs been stored properly and Chin-sunâs working on the payments already.â
âGood,â Jungkook responds. âItâs lunchtime though, so you should all grab a meal. Thereâs a French restaurant that just opened a block from here. I heard itâs got great reviews, so take the team there and have them order anything they want. You can just use your card to pay but itâs under the officeâs budget.â
âOkay, sir. Uhm, that sounds great,â you manage to say, excitement filling you because you spent the other night watching review videos of that restaurant on YouTube and immediately told Jimin and Soomin that youâll be eating there when they visit you the next time. âWhat about you though? Arenât you joining us?â
âI⊠WellâŠâ
âYou donât have any other scheduled meeting other than the one weâll have as a team at 2:30.â
âI donât have to go,â he answers. âYou all worked hard and deserve to enjoy yourselves and I donât think thatâll happen if Iâm around. We can all debrief during the meeting but lunch is your time to get together and bond as a group.â
âYouâre part of that group, too, Mr. Jeon. You are our boss,â you counter.
âExactly.â
âBut Mr. Juââ you stop, not wanting to draw another comparison, which you said youâll stop doing.
âI know. Hoseok would join you for lunch or dinner and the team enjoyed his presence,â Jungkook states. âI donât think thatâs the case with me. This isnât me putting myself down but⊠you know that I donât really⊠do things like that. Iâm still learning that part of the role and I donât want to spoil their fun.â
âYou canât really speak for the team though,â you point out.
âWell, you represent them to me. Am I wrong to assume all that?â
âNo, but I think it would be a good opportunity to prove to them otherwise,â you advise.
Jungkook sighs, knowing youâve got a point. But he insists, claiming that heâs still figuring out the team and how to relate with them.Â
âI understand, Mr. Jeon,â you concede. âHow about your lunch?â
âIâll manage. You can all go ahead so you can get back on time.â
âWe will. Thank you. I already know theyâre going to enjoy it.â
The team is ecstatic when you tell them about lunch plans. They also only wonder about Jungkookâs presence once theyâve ordered and perhaps theyâre still figuring him out, too. Much of their engagement with Jungkook is through meetings, as none of them, save for Manager Lee, feel comfortable or even free enough to just approach him. They also donât know much about his interests or his quirks, and that puts you in the same boat as them.Â
You said once that youâre not sure if youâve gotten used to him already. Maybe slowly you are, as you look around and wish that he was here to experience this, too. Somehow you just think heâd love the duck confit dish that you eventually order for yourself. Maybe you can let him know, and he can order it on his own time.Â
Lunch ends with everyone on a high from the delicious meal. Even you forget how terrible youâre actually feeling and let the laughs and scrumptious food compensate for the fatigue.Â
You get back to the office and head to Jungkook as the rest of the team prepares the conference room for the meeting. You see a half-eaten sandwich on his desk and hate to think that itâs all he had while you enjoyed a fancy lunch that he ordered you all to have. He seems to pick up your thoughts as your eyes flit from him to his food and he affirms you that heâs not that hungry, given the heavy breakfast he had this morning.
âHow was lunch?â He asks.Â
âIt was great. The food was really good. I had the duck confit that I think youâll like and⊠uh, they were asking where you were.â
âThey were?âÂ
âYeah,â you respond. âThey were wondering why you didnât join us.â
âWhat did you say?â
âThat you were on a conference call,â you say. You didnât like that you had to lie to them about it, but you also didnât want to use that time to talk about Jungkook behind his back again. âYohan said that itâs understandable; youâre always busy and he doubts you get a break while youâre here.â
âOh. Well, heâs not wrong.â
âWe had a good time though, and Iâm sure theyâll tell you later but thank you. Itâs nice seeing the team enjoy themselves. I wish you could see it, too.â
âMaybe one day,â he says sullenly, standing up right after to head to the meeting with you.
The room quiets down when you both arrive and Jungkook feels once more the shift in their disposition once he joins them. He canât fault them for it knowing thatâs because of him, but as time passes and the more he talks about the value of human connections - which the Arts Center aims to foster - the more he starts to think of exactly what heâs missing by keeping himself too far a distance from everyone else around him.Â
His father tries, he can tell. Most of their breakfast or lunch or dinner meetings arenât actually meetings, and he supposes itâs just his old manâs way of spending time with him by disguising it as something work-related, knowing that Jungkook wouldnât be into it if it wasnât. His mother asks him over to their house on some weekends for lunch, her own way of reconnecting with him after years of being apart, but even with that, Jungkook just gives the bare minimum.Â
He doesnât not like them; he just stopped being close to them at some point and he didnât really care to mend it as he grew older. The women he sleeps with donât count since he doesnât even really talk to them, and other than Taehyung and Seokjin, and occasionally Yoongi, who keep up with his attitude, there really isnât anyone else whom he thinks enjoys his presence enough to want to have him around.Â
He doesnât know about you though, but he makes an educated guess and thinks thereâs not much of him youâd miss just like anyone, and while the thought stings a bit, itâs one he tries to live with.
âGood afternoon, Mr. Jeon,â Manager Lee greets and implores the others to do the same. âThank you again for lunch. It was really delicious and pretty fancy. I wish Iâd worn a prettier tie than the one I have right now.â
âYour tie looks fine, Manager Lee,â Jungkook replies.
âMs. Cho said you were busy, that's why you werenât there,â Do-hyun boldly says. âHopefully next time you can join us. I mean, not to assume youâll treat us again, although that would be nice, butââÂ
âDo-hyun just wanted to say thank you,â Chin-sun butts in. âAnd that we understand you have so many things going on, Mr. Jeon, so hopefully, when you have time in the future, you can join us for a meal, too.â
âThat, uh, that would be fine, yes,â he mumbles, taking his seat and avoiding looking at everyone except you. âLetâs start the meeting.â
Youâre there for over two hours, rehashing the entire process, given that itâs the first event out of many that the team organized. Jungkook is generous in complimenting everyone, including you, and he gives updates on the interest generated and all the artists heâll be meeting in their respective studios as a result.Â
The Ministry of Culture minister likewise pledged support, promising a linkage with the international media festival organizers like Jungkook had hoped. Youâve all accomplished so much in so little time, but the rest of the timeline shows that thereâs still so much ground to cover. You plan the next steps and then spend half an hour talking about the other small projects that the VPâs office is managing before Jungkook adjourns the meeting and orders you all to head home to get some rest while he stays behind to work some more.
You follow him this time, trying your best to be stable as you take the bus home. You manage to buy some beef bone soup on the way for dinner, and once thatâs all finished and you take a long hot shower to hopefully get rid of the stress in your body, you plop down on your bed and fall asleep with no warning at all.Â
You wake up in the middle of the night, your clogged nose keeping you from breathing. With puffy eyes, you search for your eucalyptus inhaler and take your medicine before going back to bed and hoping that when you wake up, youâll feel less terrible than you do right now.Â
But you donât, as you wake up to your alarm not long after and feel even worse. Your body is sore, your head feels heavy, and itâs a struggle to even turn to your side to try to pull yourself off the bed. Knowing thereâs no way youâll manage today, you call Mr. Ri and inform him that youâre unwell and canât make it to work.Â
âI canât even type nor talk properly right now,â you tell him. âCan youââ
âIâll tell Jungkook, donât worry,â he assures you. âAnd just to remind you, youâre sick, okay? So stay in bed, donât do chores or anything, and donât think about work for even a second. You hear me? And update me on how you are.â
âYes,â you cough out. âThank you.â
You lie underneath the covers and hope to the heavens that more sleep would make you feel a bit of relief and it does, given that when your phone rings five hours later, you donât feel like your head is splitting apart.Â
âGood, youâre awake,â Mr. Ri says on the other end after you greet him. âCan you open your door?â
âOkay, just give me a few minutes. Iâm exceptionally slow this morning.â
Mr. Ri laughs but tells you to take your time. You put on a hoodie over your gray sweatpants and briefly wash your face before opening the door.Â
âWorkâs got to you, huh?â He asks worriedly as he stands in front of you. âIs it bad enough to warrant a visit to the hospital? I can drive you there.â
âIâll manage,â you mumble. âBut what are you doing here, Mr. Ri? Mr. Jeon has a meeting in an hour.â
âI know. But he wanted me to give you this.â
The older man initially hands you a large paper bag but decides to just place it on your table given your weak state. He removes the containers of chicken noodle soup, rice porridge, and soybean sprout soup, boxes of soft bread, and a small jar of yuja marmalade for tea.Â
âWhatââ
âYour meals for the next few days so you donât have to worry about preparing them,â Mr. Ri says. âJungkook wants you to focus on resting. He wants you to take Monday off, too.â
You look at him and suddenly feel like crying. You knew that waking up, youâd be worrying about what to eat, given that you barely have ingredients to work with. You also donât have the energy to make anything, especially something thatâd help with your health. Jungkook just relieved you of that, and at a time like today, you feel what itâs like to be cared for. And though you can argue with him using his own words - your health isnât his responsibility - you wonât pretend that it doesnât give you comfort knowing that heâd made the effort to buy all this and have them brought to you.Â
You talk a little bit more before he heads out, and you lead him to the door where you look across the street where the car is parked. Your eyes may be puffy but you donât miss the silhouette behind that backseat window.Â
âHow is she?â Jungkook asks as Mr. Ri enters the car and slowly drives away.
âShe looks like someone whoâs been working hard these past months and in need of rest. She says itâs normal but this is probably the worst. These few days off will be good for her.â
âI hope so, too.â
âSheâs thankful for the food, Jungkook,â the older man says. âI know sheâd probably say you didnât have to but I could tell it meant a lot to her. She doesnât always ask for help, you know? Itâs good youâre somehow letting her know that she can count on you when she needs you. If this is you making it up to her, youâre on the right path.â
Jungkook hums in acknowledgement, although unsure what it means for him. Is it to compensate? To apologize again? To return the favor because youâd done it first? Is it to let you know that he has your back, too, the way youâve been showing him that you have his?Â
Heâs alerted by a message, your name on his screen somehow making his heart jump. Itâs a text message and not one from the usual messaging app you both use for work purposes because, well, thatâs really the only thing you talk about.
[From: EA Cho] Thank you, Jungkook. I really appreciate it.
Itâs the use of his name. Itâs the sincerity in your simple words.Â
He smiles to himself.Â
Whatever it means to you, he knows it means another thing to him. He doesnât want you to feel alone. And that in the coldest nooks of his uncaring heart, he actually does care for you. For this moment, heâll acknowledge it. For this moment, heâll let himself feel it. He can only hope you feel it, too.

Wow, I'm alive â ïž
Let's start with sketches with Barnaby, because he's a cool guy
Then, i remind you that i really love Howdy, so there are a lot of sketches with him đ€đ€đ„ (in fact, i have a lot more of them, but i can't show them here). i'll say a few headcanons about the second two sketches!! i think Howdy cooks well because when he looked after his younger siblings or nephews, they needed to be fed. His signature dish is vegetable soup!! It is useful, nutritious, not very difficult, cheap, and you can also feed a large number of people with this soup
In my mind, Beta!Wally is quite an interesting and slightly slippery type. I would paint all my headcannons on him, but I won't. I'll just say that he's trying to look perfect, and he's also more of a poet than just Wally, who's an artist
I also apologize for the fact that I was gone for almost TWO MONTHS ( ïŸâĄïŸ) actually, I have a lot of work, but I can't exhibit half of it here, and I think about the other part that it's unworthy to be here đđ„đ„
aaand two sketches for @//clownsuu
I laugh awkwardly at the second sketch.... huh
#I repeat#FORGIVE ME FOR COMING HERE SO RARELY#I would love to invite everyone to my telegram channel but there is a lot of personal stuff there đđđ„#Well I hope you're doing well!!#Don't forget to sleep well and eat well as drink water#(don't be like me. epiphanies over hotpot
james potter x gn!reader âź 1.6k summary: james comes to an illuminating realization when he sees you do something so unexpected for him. cw/tags: established relationship, james is SUPER whipped, mention of food, but the vibes are cozy and domestic :> also, we acknowledge the fact that james is a little diva !
note: inspired by smth i saw on twitter that went like, âyeah sex is good and all but will u clean my glasses for me when im wearing the wrong type of shirtâ HAHA (...will u?) anyway, hope u enjoy reading this!! <3 i enjoyed writing it sm hehe
James has always been a chatterbox. In fact, itâs usually a cause for concern whenever he goes nonverbal. Heâs almost animated with how often he talks with his hands, or how his face contorts into various expressionsâeach one of them successfully depicting his emotions well.Â
You had always been a listener; always preferred to be silent, always preferred to just listen. In fact, you were a good listener; always supplying enough replies to keep the conversation going, asking questions so they could continue talking because youâre genuinely interested in what you were listening about.Â
This makes Jamesâthe hopeless romantic that he isâconvinced that you were both made for each other. But aside from that, heâs also a firm believer of the âopposites attractâ phenomenon. He likes to think thatâs what makes the two of you so special, too.
Presently, heâs in the middle of bringing you up to date on the latest gossip in his workplace that youâve been waiting to hear an update from. James is, as usual, using everything he can get his hands onâchopsticks, the few empty dishes on your table, paper napkins, the table itselfâto recount to you what he witnessed as best as he could.Â
Slightly out of breath from all the enthusiastic talking, James pauses to take a sip of his water. Then, when he continues, he raises a bowl of the steaming hot soup up to his lips. But the hot steam causes his glasses to fog, and he cuts himself off in the middle of his storytelling.Â
ââOh. Well, dammit. Now, Iâve gone blind.âÂ
You chuckle into the glass of water youâre drinking, eyes trained on Jamesâ fogged up glasses, and the massive, goofy grin on his face as he, too, laughs at his unfortunate situation.
But heâs nothing if not dramatic about it first.
James sighs, exaggerated on purpose, though the smile is still plastered onto his lips. âAh, well there you have it. The light of my life, laughing at my own expense. How it pains me!âÂ
You roll your eyes affectionately at his little act, setting the glass of water down in front of you. âOh, Iâm so sorry for laughing at you, my love. Will you ever forgive me for my grave mistake of doing so?â
Your boyfriend, still sporting his foggy glasses, tilts his head slightly to the side as he rubs his chin in thought, feigning consideration.Â
âHmm, well, if youâre offering to compensate me in some way⊠I have a few suggestions,â James smirks.
You let out a snort of laughter. âOf course, you do.â He only chuckles in response, only deciding now to take his glasses off and get the fog out before heâd actually go blind. James was already bordering on the line of being legally blind, and heâll be damned if he unintentionally made his eyesight worse by something so stupid as letting it get foggy, and refusing to clean it up after.
Most of all, though, he strives to maintain his eyesight as it is right now so he could keep seeing you in all of your loveliness.Â
âCrap,â Your boyfriend frowns, stilling as he looks down at the white dress shirt he was currently wearing. Miraculously, it was still spotless. You supposed he was looking down at some spot where heâd finally managed to drop some food on when he continued.Â
âI canât clean my glasses with this,â James says, his frustration clearly evident with the adorable pout decorating his lips. You couldnât help but smile fondly at the sight of it.Â
âTechnically, youâre not supposed to clean your glasses with your shirt, Jamie.âÂ
He grumbles under his breath. âI know that, duh.â
Then, he pauses briefly, and starts looking around the table for a clean paper napkin. âBut I donât really bring the case and the cloth with me anymore because I wear âem all the time anyway.âÂ
You sigh from exasperation. âThen itâs your own fault that you canât clean your glasses right now,â You replied, reaching over the table to take his glasses from him.
James was already halfway through another defensive reply when he felt his glasses be taken away from his grasp.Â
âHey, what are youââ
Wordlessly, you start cleaning the lenses of his glasses up with a small, seemingly soft cloth youâd brought out from your handbag. It catches him off guard, and his heart pitter-patters with the feeling he always gets when he sees you for the first time after being apart for so long, or when you kiss him silly in your slightly bolder moments.Â
As if it was just natural that you were doing this for him, you continued. âI mean, honestly, James. Youâve been wearing glasses for ages. You should know better by now.âÂ
Heâs suddenly feeling a thousand different things, and thinking a thousand different thoughts, all at once. No, he wasnât being dramatic this time. It was real. This was real. He was currently watching you, a literal angel sent from the heavens above and so lovingly bestowed upon him as his lover, clean his very own glasses for him.Â
Just for him. Like, what?
So, maybe James was being a little dramatic. All you were doing was clean a pair of glasses anyway, there was nothing groundbreaking about it. You werenât down on one knee and asking him to marry you.Â
No, no. That wasnât it. Actually, he may as well propose right then and there. This simple, yet so warm and thoughtful, gesture of yours had single-handedly made him fall deeper in love with you, so much so that he feels it strongly, heâs starting to think itâs not just the spice of the brothy soup youâve both been sharing thatâs making him feel a little woozy, and emboldened.Â
âMarry me,â James blurts out with a breathless, almost dreamy sigh.Â
âSorry, what?âÂ
His heart kind of drops to his stomach at the nonchalant tone in your words, taking it in an entirely different context than yours. But James knows you really hadnât heard him, of course. It was more like a murmur than anything that had come out of him.Â
He suddenly falls over his words, increasingly getting flustered as you hand him back his glasses. He takes it with slightly trembling hands, prays that you donât notice, and puts it back on in a rush.Â
Once a much clearer sight of you finally comes into his view, James suddenly forgets how to function like a normal human being. Instead, he just stares at you in silent, but unabashed awe.Â
âEr, James?âÂ
âEr.. yes, love?âÂ
âAre you alright?âÂ
âWhat? No. Yeah. Mâfine.â He replies at once, mashing all the words in one quick breath.Â
âOâŠkay,â You say, clearly suspicious of his suddenly odd behaviour. âWhat were you saying earlier? Couldn't catch it, really.âÂ
âBury me," James answers, unblinking. "I said, âbury me.ââÂ
ââBury you?ââ You clarify in a surprised huff of laughter. âWhy would I do that?âÂ
Because I almost proposed to you and nearly put you in the hot seat.Â
âBecause this broth is just so good,â James punctuates his answer with a quick sip from his bowl of the aromatic, spicy beef broth that heâd been wanting to finish since a while ago. Beforeâwell, before he suddenly felt like marrying you on the spot.Â
A beat passes as you try to piece your boyfriendâs vague statements together. âYou.. want me to bury you⊠in the soup?âÂ
âYep,â He confirms. âI want you to bury me in the soup.âÂ
âJames,â You chuckle. The corners of Jamesâ lips twitch upward like a reflex reaction to the sound. âI am not burying you in hotpot. Thatâs ridiculous!âÂ
âI donât care. I mean, since when am I not ridiculous?âÂ
You nod your head thoughtfully. âOkay, true.âÂ
James continues. âItâs just so good that I wanna take it with me to the afterlife. Heck, I think Iâm even gonna ask for its hand in marriage right now.â
Way to go, Potter. Real subtle.
He foresees the teasing comment in your smirking lips. This time, he doesnât know how to feel. On one end of the spectrum, he kind of wants to throw caution to the wind and kiss you until you forget about teasing him altogether. But on the other side, heâs resigned to his fate; and besides, itâs not like he doesnât enjoy the added attention, anyway.Â
âOh, so youâre just gonna ask for its hand in marriage right now? Is that it?â
âYes. Thatâs exactly what I just said.âÂ
âSo what am I to you now?âÂ
âThe love of my life,â James answers in a heartbeat, shrugging nonchalantly as if the answer was common sense. âWhy are you asking this?âÂ
âWell, since youâre marrying this array ofââ You gesture around your table of various dishes of Chinese cuisine, emphasizing the boiling pot of soup in the middle. ââwell, our dinner, I figured I must be out of the picture by then.âÂ
Your boyfriendâs jaw drops, gasping in mock-horror as he clutches his chest dramatically with his hand. You bite your lip to trap the giggles that threaten to erupt from your mouth.Â
The two of you continue to tease and play along with each other for the rest of your time at the restaurant then. All the while, James becomes more aware of the little box sitting in his drawer back at home, containing the beautiful diamond ring that heâd bought on the very same day heâd seen it for the first time.
It made him think of you just as quickly as how you, who wordlessly cleaned his glasses for him, made him think of proposing on the spot.Â
can i just say that this relationship is the kind that i want 4 myself ,,, fuck đ anywayyyyy thank u sm for reading! likes, reblogs, n comments are always appreciated <3

đđđđ„ đđđđȘ đ»đ đđđđ đđ đŠâđŁđ đđđđ
Incl. Umemiya, Hiragi, Tsubakino, Choji, Togame
Umemiya
Having grown up in a group home, Umemiya knows how to be the best care giver ever
That being said: heâs also insanely clingy and affectionate on his worst days
Heâs attentive to a T
With Kotohaâs help heâs bringing you homemade soup, full of fresh veggies from his garden
Heâs making you tea and keeping water bottles near by whenever you even mention wanting a drink
Sends his four kings out to watch over while heâs with you because he refuses to leave your side until your healthyâ doesnât matter if itâs a cold or the flu
Still cuddles with you, despite you telling him heâll get sickâ he tells you his love and affection will make you feel better
Whenever your fever spikes heâs quickly getting a wet cloth, laying it on your forehead and humming a wordless tune or telling you stories softly
Heâs there to wake you up whenever you have fever induced nightmares, and holds your hair back if you rush to the bathroom to be sick
If you even feel the tiniest bit insecure because you feel gross and greasy he shuts that down: by telling you:
âIn sickness and in health!â âThatâsâ those are wedding vows?â âHa, yeah! But think of them asâŠpre-engagement, pre-wedding vows now! Heyâ your face is all red, did your fever spike again?â
If youâre far enough into your relationship heâll help you bathe: his hands are gentle as he washes your hair, no wandering touches as he helps you clean your body
Heâs so soft you nearly fall asleep in the water, lulled into a serene peace by his soft voice and gentle touches
He combs your hair once itâs dry enough, braiding it to keep it out of your face and wrapping you your freshly washed sheets you have no idea when he had time to clean
Overall; 11/10 to take care of you when youâre sick
Even if he does end up getting sick himself after
Hiragi
You probably got sick after he warned you to bring your coat with you or not to stay up too late letâs be real
Dad sighs and twitching eyes
But heâs buying all the best meds and electrolyte drinks
I personally believe this man knows how to cook so heâs making you homemade soup, congee and other things his mom used to make him when he was sick
Brings a type of lemon âcandyâ that helps with your throat, knows they work because he keeps them on him in case Kaji needs them
He stays with you, but he gives you space
1. Because he needs to make sure he doesnât get sickâ he has to take care of you firstly, and secondly he cannot let Umemeiya free of him for too long
2. Because he knows youâll want space occasionally; to sleep, to rest, to regenerate your social battery
While you nap heâs cleaning around; washing and folding clothes, doing dishes, organizing your mailâ heâs completely husband material
When you want him near heâll have you lay your head on his lap, and heâll run his fingers through your hair and read to youâ literally any book you choose heâll read without hesitation
Heâll be so attentive and supportive when youâre sick, and he makes sure to continue to give you vitamins even after to help you avoid being sick again
But even when you are heâll be there again
15/10 heâs just so HUSBAND MATERIAL
Tsubakino
LOOK
if thereâs one thing anyone knows about me itâs I am a Tsubaki stan first and a human second
that being said
I imagine him taking care of you being sick is, while sweet, also a bit panicky
I imagine he has this weirdly insane immune system so heâs hardly ever gotten sick, and heâs also an only child so this isnât super familiar territory
but he tries
does so much research he might go a bit overboard
âMy darling! I got cough medicine, fever reducers, cooling masks, some cough drops Hiragi suggested! I got some water bottles and Suo-chan suggested different teasâ I wasnât sure which one would be best so I got all six! Nirei-chan said to get electrolytes so I got different flavors of those! And Kotoha-chan made soup! And congee! And I can order more, in fact I have a few different soups on the way!â
he just hates seeing you feel so bad
heâs a ball of nerves around you, always checking in on you and asking what you want, what you need, what youâd like
you canât even be annoyed heâs so sweet
he helps you bathe, much like Umemiya, heâs sweet and attentive
he brings over his own stuff too; bathbombs, shower steamers, hair masks, face masks
he canât make the illness disappear but youâll at least feel clean and good on the outside
he takes his time with your hair and face, and heâs basically your personal masseuse in the bath
youâre never felt so relaxed despite being as sick as a dog
even though youâre sick heâs still quick to press kisses to your cheeks and forehead, face red from fever, embarrassment, and lipstick stains now
paints your nails while you rest with a cold press on your head, tells you about the latest debacle between Umemeiya and Hiragi and Sugishita and Sakura
by a miracle he doesnât get sick
and he stores all the leftover meds and electrolytes (thereâs a lot) between your place and his so heâs prepared next time
overall: 1000000/10
realistically: 10/10 (but always 100000/10 in my eyes)
Choji
oh boy
o h b o y
let it be known you try to hide the fact youâre sick from him for as long as possible
read: you fail
heâs showing up at like 7am, waking you up and charging in
did he bring anything?
of course
heâs brought snacks
not healthy ones
youâre not hungry because youâre nauseous, so he just stores them in your fridge and comes to cuddle you
heâll wait on your every command donât get me wrong
want water? heâs grabbing you a glass
need to go to the bathroom? heâs helping you up and walking you there, waiting outside the door and helping you back
bored? heâll tell you all the thoughts in his head! and thereâs a lot!
hungry? heâs grabbing those snacks for you!
heâs attentive and sweet, but he definitely is spoiled by Togame so much heâs not entirely sure how to take care of a sick person
but heâs strong so heâll just beat your illness for you!
heâll hold you while you rest, turn your fan on when you say youâre hot, turn it off when youâre cold
he tries to braid your hair while you rest, itâs messy but he tried
he ends up getting sick before youâre even better yourself
now Togame is tasked with coming to your place and taking care of both of you
overall: 7/10
he tries he really does
but he charges in with no instructions and just love
which is great but doesnât treat the flu
Togame
he probably has taken care of an ill choji (^) so he knows what heâs doing
the patience of a saint holyâ
he comes to see you when youâre asleep, and heâs silent as he unpacks stuff from the nearby convention store
you wake up startled at him just chilling, probably drinking a ramune and reading something
he keeps his voice soft as he asks if youâre hungry or thirsty
helps you sit up as he hands you a water bottle, and if your hands are too shaky heâd holding it for you to drink out of
he wonât even let you open your mouth to apologize before heâs giving you that stupidly soft smile and telling you heâs happy to take care of you
he keeps the curtains shut so the light in your room is dim, and he brings in candles with your favorite scent so the lights donât hurt your eyes and the scent helps you feel calmer
not much of a cook himself when it comes to specific food to help you, but he grabbed take out on the way and heats up the perfect portions whenever youâre hungry
not too much so you leave food on the plate but not too little so youâre still hungry after
the man that he is
can definitely see him massaging your hands, your arms and your shoulders cause youâre tense from feeling ill
keeps a bucket or a bag nearby in case you get sick and canât make it to the toilet
does a little braid to keep your hair out of your face, jokes about how he learned how to braid his hair so heâd he perfect at it for you
tries to brew you tea, and either burns it or under-steeps it
you both opt for just water for the time being
doesnât get sick, but definitely sleeps for an entire day after youâre healthy
you both do actuallyâ a long sleep cuddled up together
overall; 13/15 i think i made myself fall more in love with him

Favorite Foods: Sokka
Since Sokka is almost always shown shoveling food down his gullet during meal scenes, I figured he prefers foods that he can stuff into his mouth quickly and in large quantities. Like Katara, I also feel his favorite foods would tie back to key memories in his life.
Sea Prunes (Row 1) - Sokka likes eating sea prunes even more than his sister does. Being Hakoda's favorite food, I think eating sea prunes allows Sokka to feel closer to his father. I think he prefers eating them either stewed in five-spice (five flavor soup) or just blanched and paired with a dipping sauce. Real-life sea prunes are small, leathery mollusks traditionally eaten by First Nation and Alaska Native groups along the west coast.
Muktuk - Muktuk is whale skin and whale blubber served raw, like sashimi. It's typically snacked on as the rest of the whale is being butchered for later consumption. Sokka has fond memories of his father's hunting crew bringing home a whale and his father offering him the first bite of muktuk.
Seal Jerky - Sokka's favorite portable snack. Seals are the largest animal that Sokka has ever successfully hunted on his own, so he feels a real sense of pride when he eats this jerky.
Polar Bear Stew - Stew made from polar bear meat. Polar bears are revered in Inuit culture as the greatest of all bears, so successfully hunting one is a considered an impressive feat. As such, polar bear stew is considered quite a delicacy in the SWT. Sokka has only had the dish once, thanks to the bravery and skill of his father's hunting team, and dreams of one day bringing home another polar bear for the whole village to enjoy.
Fermented Eider Egg - Eider is a species of arctic duck. Their eggs are buried underground and left to ferment. They're said to taste like a strong cheese. There's no deep reason why Sokka loves them, he just likes that he can stuff a bunch into his cheeks like a squirrel. ^_^
Green Kasha - Green Kasha refers to a mash of different tundra greens such as sourdock, rhodiola leaves, arctic willow, and mountain sorrel mixed with rendered blubber oil. The oil acts as an emulsifier as it slowly gets incorporated into the mash of greens. Green kasha is used as a dipping condiment for various types of arctic meat. Sokka likes it because it gives him a whole new way of enjoying his favorite foods.
Kumis - Kumis is a fermented dairy product traditionally made from mareâs milk. Sokka was introduced to the drink by Yue and the two often enjoyed the drink together--- the mild alcoholic content made them feel rather grown-up. The color of the drink also reminds Sokka of Yue's hair, so the drink is tied to Sokka's bittersweet memories of her.
Like what Iâm doing? Tips always appreciated, never expected. ^_^
