Their most accessible album is カ​ラ​ダ​は​正​直 (The Body is Honest) whic combines remasters of their best songs from their debut album with beautiful new tracks that mark their mastery over the soundcape they want to craft

Expanding Ideas

To expand my ideas I organised my thoughts into a mindmap here, I was able to figure out that I wanted to use sculpture and maybe soundcape as my format. I like the combination of both of those things as I feel like it creates a good ambience for my work.

I was thinking about adding lettering to my sculpture however I decided against it as I didnt want to mix too many things together. In this project I am focusing on the space nature takes up in the world. I really like the idea of creating imprints from leaves in the clay as it is using nature to create my work which is something I like doing.

I researched into some land artists which I have previously looked into through past projects. I also looked into soundscape I enjoyed Bill Fontanas work. I haven't worked with sound that much during this unit other than through my stop-motion animation so it was fun looking at something different.

I also created a timeline of work I need to get done to manage my time better.

📢VINYL UPDATE!!!📢 THE DEMONSTRATIVE PURCHASE FROM DAIS RECORDS It's been a long time / I shouldn't have left you / Without a Vinyl Update to step to... Actually, this vinyl record could be included in the May Vinyl Challenge earlier this year.  Day 14 of this year's #mayvinylchallenge was "Waited The Longest To Be Released | Delivered".  At the time, it was the #Sault record "Nine"... No longer. This winner of this title is now: 🔺️ Drab Majesty - The Demonstration [2017; 2022 Reissue] Ordered in March, this record made it's way to me in early September.  And as ways with Drab...twas worth the wait! Literally a movie for your ears (IYKYK), "The Demonstration" is a Gothic synthscape of wonder, melancholic musing, actions and aftermath of the doomsday cult, Heaven's Gate.  I won't go into the details of the tragic situation here, but the album focuses on this matter, with introspection and poetic analysis, set to a retrofuturistic soundcape.  A cult soundtrack for a cult situation. I even tried to go above and beyond with the decorations for the shoot.  Applaud my measly efforts!! Tall Heights have relentlessly built a career from the ground up. Starting as buskers on the streets of Boston and now performing in packed venues across North America, Europe, and beyond, the duo has distilled their sound in an organic and unselfconscious way. The unmistakable DNA of their music draws on many elements, but the blend of their two distinct voices, in both harmony and unison, is what elevates it and separates it from the pack.

Hailing from the Boston area, Paul Wright and Tim Harrington met each other in their hometown of Sturbridge through Tim’s older brother. The friendship blossomed in high school when they both took up the guitar and began working on music together. It didn’t take long for them to see the potential hidden in these casual jam sessions. As Paul recalls, “Tim transformed from kid brother to musical collaborator over the course of a summer.”

Tall Heights is now set to release two highly-anticipated singles, ‘Keeps Me Light’ and ‘Under Your Skin’, both mixed by Grammy-nominated engineer Damien Lewis. Following on the success of their viral single ‘Spirit Cold’, this new material captures a similar authentic and meaningful energy but also shows a side we have not yet seen of the pair. The self-produced project, recorded in their simple home studio, captures that raw moment between albums, delivering some of their most honest and heartfelt work to date. Written and recorded in a reflective lull between hectic periods of touring, the new tracks reaffirm Tall Heights’ commitment to a singular sound and an equally rare friendship.

‘Under Your Skin’ rides a wave of ethereal harmony, creating a mesmeric atmosphere of nostalgia. The introspective track, which features additional vocals from Berklee College of Music’s Upper Structure, is a song for the next generation. It was written when Harrington was expecting his first child and completed soon after his son was born. Around that same time, Wright's brother had a daughter too. It was a moment of reckoning for Tall Heights, a moment to peek over the partition into posterity. In their words, “It's a reflection on living. It's about the joy of welcoming a new human into existence, and the heartache of bringing them into a frightening, twisted world. We liked the wordplay of "under your skin" being both a reference to blood relation AND how dads get under their kids' skin”.

With ‘Keeps Me Light’, they explore the sense of safety felt in friendship. Even as humankind marches on into the darkness, there will always be a safe space in the heart of a friend. The track showcases a rich string arrangement, additional a cappella vocals from Upper Structure, and features Harrington’s parlour-sized resonator guitar, which gives it a bluesy, almost Southern grit. Together, the two tracks give audiences an intimate look at a poignant and potent time in the lives of both artists. Combining Paul’s lifetime of classical training, Harrington’s spontaneous artistic instincts, and the prismatic union of their unique voices, Tall Heights’ sonic imprint is in a category all its own.

imo? archive 81 is one of the few podcasts rn that really actually makes use of soundscaping so incredibly well, they let it do the storytelling for them and it works flawlessly, which is why i was worried even before the release of the fuckin netflix adaptation abt how tf a visual media was even going to tackle it bc!!!! bc so much of the strength of this podcast lies in having no visuals!!! the listener is given every bit of space to form their own interpretations on the characters and the world around them, and yet!!! it's a goddamn challenge!!! bc the podcasts constantly deals with the abstract and things shifting in a bunch of ways!!! its abt the power of concepts and ideas!!!! giving the intangible a form yet still making it so hard to shape into an image!!!! and a lot of that is thanks to the soundcaping!! it fuckin draws u in and makes u feel like innocent listener and simultaneously the observer stuck behind a glass wall unable to intervene w/ whatever shit is going down especially when sometimes u cant do anything but make assumptions and filling in the blanks because theres no visuals!!!! and!!! im. so. pissed at netflix
