And that’s a wrap! Congrats to @djspinna & his better half @keistarproductions for another amazing NYC edition of #SoulSlam Michael Jackson vs Prince party! It’s been years since I’ve been and it was off the hook! Here area few things I took from it: 1. “Ballad of Dorothy Parker” live is much better in the club than the album version. 2. Is there a downloadable mashup of Billie Jean/Your The One for Me? 3. The transition from “In the Closet” to “Nasty Girl” was Lit AF! 4. “I Want You Back” might be the GOAT pop song in American history. 4.5 The kick drums on “ABC” are utterly insane in subwoofers! 5. I’ll always prefer Prince playing live drums over his Linn Drum programming (I.e. “Lady Cab Driver”) 6. Had no idea that “Dirty Diana” actually works in a club setting. 7. The instrument track for “Thriller” is funkier than an unwashed armpit. 8. How did Arif Mardin of all people make such a hard track on Chaka’s version of “I Feel For You?” 9. “Forever in My Life” sounded A Lot like Ike & Tina Turner’s intro to “Proud Mary.” 10.
