okay! it’s time! my older brothers season finale thoughts and reactions:

- when jessica walked into the cellar he whispered, very excitedly, “yesssss! blow that bitch up. tear her apart. cmon”

- he is terrified by jessica.

- after the reunion scene he goes “yknow… how progressive actually is this show… and how purely gay gabriel is… and how straight annalise is… cause it could be really really cool… if the three of them…” (i went “mhmhm shut up you’re missing things and tried not to scream”

- nathan: “it’d be a shit time to die” // my brother: “if he dies, she should get THAT stitched on the pillow”

- more about the polyamory: “it’s not like a SUPER super common thing but like it doesn’t exist at ALL in the media it would be so fucking sick if they did that, plus they’ve developed it in such an awesome and natural way… i’m excited”

- he wants to know why nathan didn’t just kick gabriel’s shirt.

- “maybe it has to be like… pure?”

- mercury is fucking evil and “jesus christ that’s rough”

- feels bad for the little kid

- loves loves loves gabriel

- wants to know how the memory powder works

- thinks it’s “so fucking cool and super bold” that they had annalise kill soul

- kept saying, “nah look ceelia’s fine… she’s breathing back there… it’s okay”

- “ah shit i knew it wasn’t gonna be okay”

- he loves that they subvert so many expectations and standards (having nathan not be the actual main main character, hinting at the throuple, having the goal of getting to mercury actually not be the goal, having marcus be such a tiny role when he was supposed to be the “big bad”)

- was terrified for gabriel

- was (pleasantly) surprised more people didn’t die

- thinks nathan is absolutely eating that heart

- pissed he doesn’t know nathans power

- sad the books aren’t good

- thinks there were “a couple cheesy moments, a few plot holes, and a couple things that were just a smidge too convenient” but that it’s one of the absolute best ya fantasy shows he’s seen

- absolutely LOVES that they’re all new faces and think they all did a fantastic job

- is somewhat in shock

- cannot fucking wait for season 2

villains can often be the best characters out there. love them, love to hate them…whatever the reason, I rarely despise a villain with the same unbelievably deep rage that I feel for jessica and soul, and I finally put my finger on what it is — their hypocrisy.

I can respect a villain who stands by their morals, their own code, their sense of right and wrong no matter how fucked up or skewed it may be, but the contradictions with these two drive me batshit crazy. jessica mopes about others mistreating her for things outside of her control as though she didn’t spend her life mercilessly tormenting and almost murdering her own brother for things that were entirely out of his control. soul (all the fairborne, really) campaigned against the blood witches for their “barbaric” practices until it suited his purposes to use that same magic.

I can excuse any number of atrocities being committed in the name of a cause, but the one thing I cannot abide is a fucking hypocrite.

there are literally no standouts in downfall because everyone sat down at that table and said hey you wanna see something cool and proceeded to Become their characters but idk if it’s because they’re beside each other and that aids the dynamic or just because it’s the delicious similarities and insurmountable distance between the god of death and the god of (in various ways) life but ayden and emhira’s interactions were so chewy and delicious. i’ll be thinking of their exchange fairly early on after ayden cast lesser restoration on that old man and emhira not cruelly but just simply stating “you cannot heal everything.” and ayden’s equally simple reply “we can always try.” emhira seeing the family trist has built and wondering at the presence of children, “surprised there is laughter in such a horrible place” and i know she’s speaking of hawk’s hill but i wonder if she is also speaking of exandria itself in some ways. the delicious space between in and out of character that only really happens in improv stories where as brennan is narrating and says “in this dark room” and nick interrupts and adds “it is not dark.” brennan’s incisive point in the cooldown that while the love that ayden and trist have for mortals and for exandria is warm and the kind of love someone would likely Want from gods, there is something maybe more honest or whole about emhira who says . actually these mortals are little shits that will kill you not because they fear you but because they hate you. whose very existence should be (and still often fails to be) a reminder that the gods can be usurped by mortals. the insight nick shared in the cooldown that ayden does not forget emhira’s origins but in a way dismisses them, that the god of death is a different beast. ayden wanting to find. way to save the people of aeor, insisting that the prime deities Win if they can find a way to do so. emhira reminding everyone that death is inevitable (and she does not add anything to clarify that she intends such a statement to only exist for mortals) as she argues for them to work to take down aeor and the people in it. the fact that the god with the most present connection to mortality is also the one given the most explicit clarification that she Is the god we know as SILAHA calls her the matron, brennan’s narration clarifies purvon is her champion, taliesin as asha asks for clarification on the recognition of emhira as a god and prompting the familiar spectre of a woman in a white mask.

i want to be very clear that when i say there are no standouts i Mean it because i’ve been awed and endeared and intrigued by every single character choice everyone made and as always brennan’s narration is so incredibly well suited for the mission impossible greek tragedy vibes that comes with this story and i’m so fucking delighted by the fact that laura, ashley, and taliesin are playing gods that their characters have known quite well in the past. i’m incredibly excited by what we’ve already gotten to see from abubakar, nashir, and nick and cannot imagine what other greatness is to come. i’m psyched to see the relationship between asha and the law bearer and am delighted that (perhaps for now perhaps for the whole arc) it is being seen through the lens of “my wife promised me a visit with apples and all i got was a rock ice emissary”. i also have many incoherent thoughts about the fact that, of the players who appeared as the same character in the opening and the story, taliesin’s ash and asha are the ones whose name remains the most unchanged.

i’m obsessed with the fact that this creature sent as a stand in by the god of law and duty believes his primary gift is love. while there is a certain mourning and sadness to every god we see, that SILAHA has a certain playful whimsy and jofyful curiosity about the world. that the only one of them who has been mortal before stops to steal an imp necklace from the neck of a drunk on the train (and that moment between brennan’s narration that this man will be dead by morning but, with death standing invisible in front of him, he is incapable of seeing it coming, and then laura as emhira breathing in deeply and brennan having that spark a coughing fit. they are Story Telling). asha seeing the erased image of a god, of a family member and saying “there’s a hole in all of us.” brennan narrating “this is a place where they tried to kill a story. it’s a very frightened thing to do.” (and god. the motif of fear. especially given the very present fear felt by the gods in current day exandria. they’re doing insane things in the critical role 3 part departure).

trist reminding ayden “he never tells the truth” and asha contesting “he only tells the truth, it’s just rotting.” emhira and asha both as perhaps the less Good™ much more neutral but doing so in such different ways, asha as bitter and hungry while emhira seems uncomfortable but there’s a familiarity and a certainty in her discomfort with mortality (the law bearer would also be included here but the emissary seems much more like trist and ayden (for now) than emhira or asha). something as insignificant as trist and her husband speaking to their children and affirming that little lies are okay while trist has lead a significant part of her life likely dishonest about who she is. the fact that there’s a certain childlike quality to the emissary who they’re all charged with ensuring makes it to the end of things even if they cannot. the fact that nahal (unclear which god they were, and i’m assuming it’s the first god of death but regardless still an absolutely compelling development in a short amount of time) in those opening moments is horrified by the concept of away which is unfamiliar to them only to soon after look upon their family and say. maybe away was better. Especially if those were words spoken by the god who would one day be replaced. these three episodes are going to haunt me and i’m excited to meet the ghosts.

i’m telling yall just imagine lying in bed with stiles; you’re on your back, he’s draped over you/your side. you have an arm around his broad shoulders, nails gliding up and down, side to side on his back over his grey shirt. your other hand is combing through those unruly brown waves on his head, they’re completely messed up from hours of just existing in one another’s presence. and stiles couldn’t ask for anything more than the soothing effect your touch has on him. the room is slowly getting darker over time, courtesy of the setting sun, allowing a gentle orange hue to be cast over his face, making the golden flecks in his brown eyes shimmer like little suns. he’s gorgeous— ethereal, even, while he lets his gaze settle in the path of yours. his eyelids are weighing down, then opening wide, then drooping once more. you’re always stressed about school or supernatural problems, but whenever he places his head near the curve of your neck and lets his arms hang over your body, there’s no weight at all. he’s practically engulfing you like one of those huge ten-by-ten blankets, but who needs a blanket when you have stiles?

Imma be honest…. I still ship bomika but if they won’t happen i wouldn’t even care bc how are they even supposed to build smth up in those last 7 episodes?Besides I have never seen so many Bose and Chapa moments, than in this season,and we’re at episode 6. They have a great bond AS FRIENDS so if they really decided to make them a couple it would just ruin their sibling kinda relationship. Yes there are some bomika moments but I think I can speak for everyone when I say i wanted more.Maybe something will happen between bomika in those last episodes but I doubt that much will change.

That's what I'm saying. There is no good way they can make up bomikas endgame in just 6 episodes, I mean, yes, they've had build up in season 1 and 2 to help, but still. As for Bose and Chapa they haven't had any moments this season(or any season for that matter) that have any romantic implications, and I don't believe the writers have even consider Chapa and Bose as a romantic partnership so I'm not concerned about that. If anything, they give me even more sibling vibes this season so far.

au Fic idea i may or may not write so am just throwing it out there (spoilers for end of s1)

When they find Ceelia, she asks about Nathan’s blood, they decide to find his father, she asks Analise to undo her so that they can take her heart with them for Nathan to eat. 

“I was supposed to protect you. Bloods say a little part of you lives on, I want you to have it, so that little part can protect you when I’m gone.”

While they’re having this conversation, Gabriel has started to try and staunch the bleeding. 

Annalise refuses and Nathan says, “You’re not getting out of this so easily, just hang on and you can use your power to protect me yourself, if you’re so hung up about it.”

Ceelia says that she’ll just slow them down, Gabriel says that they’re not going to do it, so she might as well do her damndest to stay alive as long as she can until they get back from getting Nathan his blood, because fuck if they know how fresh the heart has to be. 

Ceelia nods, takes over putting pressure on her wound, and says the “To the friends at our table” etc, and settles in to wait as long as they can. 

When Nathan meets his dad, when he asks for the third gift, he asks if Marcus has any healing powers he’d be willing to use to help him. Marcus says, after doing the ‘find out who you are’ bit that if Soul killed his Hunters, then he almost certainly has healing somewhere in the mix. 

When Soul is dead, and Annalise sees Nathan staring at the heart, she goes to say something, but before she can, Nathan repeats what Marcus had told him about the healing. 

Annalise says that she knows, and even if eating her father’s heart didn’t have the chance to ensure that Nathan wouldn’t have to eat Ceelia’s, she’d have told him to anyway, because all those people he killed deserve to live on, like her uncle and Nathan’s grandmother. 

Nathan eats the heart, and they book it back to Wolfhagen where Ceelia is hanging on to the barest threads of life, body frosted over in her last attempt at slowing her death/keeping her heart fresh enough to pass down her power. 

Nathan is able to heal her enough that she’s not in immediate danger of dying, and he, Gabriel and Annalise manage to get her to a car to take them somewhere safe. 

Possible following events: Ceelia training all of them, plans to kill Mercury and seize her blood stores so they can use them for Blood Witches whose families have been killed, getting into contact with others to help them resolve stuff maybe? (possibly starting with ppl who used to work for Mercury like Gabriel cause that shit was fucked)(possibly Annalise’s mom, bc i think that the theory that she’s also got Decimation bc Annalise has never really seen her use her ‘water’ power)

• liam obrien - i need him to play a cleric so bad. i miss it when he was a full caster. maybe something like tempest or peace

• ashley johnson - she should play a full rogue, maybe sci blade or arcane trickster. theres not too much to keep track of, and she get up some devious nonsense with that expertise

• taliesan jaffe - some evil fucked up sorcerer multiclass. he has the range

• marisha ray - ranger. she loves having one million different abilities and that is the class of one million different abilities

• sam riegal - some fighter, like echo knight or rune. i think rune is really cool and i want someone to do it. he could do the tragedy of a fighter soooooo well

•travis willingham - wizard. wizard every day. he’s gotten so damn smart at this game, and i want to see the shenanigans that he can get up to as a full arcane caster. i need it so bad.

god i need these so bad. i miss wizards, and they need to have a paladin for my soul. they are sorely lacking

I have this little head canon that one night Chucky got really drunk with some friends at a bar (as a human) and was talked into performing this song for karaoke, and he pulled Tiffany up from her seat to duet. This song, to me at least, seems like the sort of thing that Doctor Mixter told Chucky when he was a child in order to ‘stamp out’ that pesky bit of innocence and naïvety still within him. Of course, “a feather’s sharpened end” would be changed into something like “a blade’s sharpened end” and it wouldn’t be a “friend” she refers to, but his mother, because I imagine he felt a tiny trace of guilt about that murder before he was taught otherwise
