L'Ardente- Italian meets Glam
L’Ardente, a fresh addition to the Northwest, Washington, D.C. area, is an Italian restaurant led by Chef David Deshaies of Unconventional Diner. Having honed his skills under the renowned Michel Richard at Citronelle, Deshaies brings forth meticulously crafted dishes often infused with playful elements. For instance, consider the luxurious starter titled “Gamberi”, featuring grilled prawns, black garlic, pomegranate molasses and lemon. This decadent creation is presented on a glass iridescent plate, each prawn is brushed with a brown sauce that is rich in flavor, with a lemon wedge to add lemon zest flavor; that takes this dish to another level.   Although L’Ardente’s starters are magnificent, the short rib lasagna is honestly the hottest item on the menu. The 40-layer, short rib sugo is smothered in truffle mornay and topped with a flavorful sottocenere cheese. When I first saw this lasagna showcased on Instagram, I assumed it was a tactic designed solely for social media shares. With each social media share I became increasingly convinced of this notion. However, I bought into the hype and had to give it a try. Let’s just say that my skepticism was swiftly dispelled after tasting it; this lasagna truly delivers on all fronts. It’s flavor matches its visual allure, leaving no doubt as to its culinary mastery. No other lasagna can compare!  L’Ardente isn’t just D.C.’s newest hot spot because of the delicious menu, but also because of it’s fun and instagrammable design; glam Italian if you will. Many restaurant goers have flocked to visit in hopes of capturing a trendy photo of a sign on the wall that reads “DONT DO COKE IN THE BATHROOM” right above the walkway towards the restrooms.   If you haven't already been and you’re in the mood for Italian, run, don't walk to give this restaurant a try!

Avevamo fame e non ci siamo sfamati, avevamo sete e non ci siamo dissetati, avevamo desiderio e voglia di noi e, non ci siamo potuti concedere.
Ma avevamo menti eccelse in simbiosi, complici e di infinita immaginazione e l'arsura ce la siamo tolta, la follia l'abbiamo vissuta e la condivisione goduta. Abbiamo spento le fiamme di un fuoco che però ha lasciato tizzoni accesi sottocenere...

Favorite pizza and favorite research rabbit hole :3
my favorite pizza is one at a very specific pizza restaurant in Brooklyn, New York, called the Emily. it is a white pizza, mozzarella, pistachio, truffle sottocenere, and honey on a thin crust and it's so fucking good and I haven't had it since moving. weeps.
another favorite was from another specific pizza restaurant in Brooklyn, New York, that actually had meat on it but I started getting substituted with mushrooms and which was still extremely delicious and also I haven't had in a while.
other than that I used to really like pepperoni pizza but now that's meat/cheese which is a no go since going kosher; honestly my prime criteria for a pizza to be a favorite is going to be a nice and thin, crispy crust.
now I really want pizza.
in answer to your other question - depends on the day!! I will end up going down all kinds of research rabbit holes at the drop of a hat if I get set off by something that interests me enough. the other day I started with shipwrecks on the Great Lakes and ended up wandering around reading about nautical disasters and then just generally major storms in history. another time recently I was looking at relative ages of mountain ranges in the United States (and then around the world).
more often than not if you hand me a thread that's vaguely interesting to me I'll want to pull on it.
if we're talking about in-depth research, though, like, academic article research, I'm always going to be poking around looking for good, solid academic research on genre fiction. I've mostly given up on looking for it about superhero comics, because it just doesn't seem to be there yet, but there is starting to be some decent scholarship about fantasy/science fiction literature out there, and not just Tolkien and Ursula K. LeGuin, who were sort of first to the "academic respectability" gate.

Sottocenere al Tartufo in the house! An Italian black truffle cheese from the Veneto region that is aged 3-6 months and covered in ash. It's aged in a coat of nutmeg, anise, fennel, cinnamon, cloves, licorice and truffle oil. The semi soft cheese is so yummy. It's great on it's own, though it would make a killer mac and cheese😍 Pairing with a black tea that has roses, lavender, anise, and periwinkle. Of course.. if I were drinking this weekend I would pair with a sparkling wine from Veneto.
