Toto needs to visit Therapist.

To answer the question, yes, I think Toto has an extremely unhealthy tendency to sacrifice himself. I guess it stems from his low self-esteem. When I look at Toto's many actions in terms of saving people, to me it seems like more than just a desire to solve cases.

Because the desire to solve cases was there even before Ron. And for some reason, most of Toto's actions on his subconscious level are connected with self-harm in some way. Like, his instant reaction, regardless of his instincts for self-preservation, must come from somewhere, and the very fact that at the sight of danger, his feelings aimed at saving himself fade away in the name of others, it's kinda bad.

His actions, to one degree or another, despite saving others and good intentions, are equally aimed to self- distraction.

Toto never care about himself ( I'm talking about his thoughts about himself) This is probably most clearly seen during the cruise arc. When he was tied up, put to sleep and the first thing when he wakes up in his head was about Ron. But Not about even one thought about himself.

To me, this is a giant red flag that something is wrong. Considering Toto's habit of overworking himself to be useful as shown in the early chapters where he literally sleeps in his office. Moreover, his lack of any social life, and active workaholism, to help others BUT not himself. This screams that he has an unhealthy way of thinking where he puts himself last, above everyone else. He is ready to buy his grandmother something expensive, but as can be seen in the 1st case about the hot springs, he mainly relies on his salary. And this could be attributed to his kindness and good qualities, but it simply screams of a broken psyche. There is no healthy egoism in him. And well this is bad.

Also recalling our discussion about his upbringing, Toto was taught not to show much emotion in public.

However, in my opinion, sometimes all this stupidity seems very much like a fake, and his true personality is what we saw in his neutral frames. Well, I don’t believe that it’s not fake when one second he just looks blankly at the mention of Kei, and the next he’s already laughing.

And the fact that he and Ron don’t have the healthiest relationship (This is strictly how I see them and I'm not saying that they are bad) is a topic for a separate post.

I mean Toto doesn’t have a lot of friends. And he’s probably damaged too for all we know. With the emergence of Ron he has something to live for. And it might be that he is fighting with and for Ron to hell with his own life, yeah, might not sound healthy, and it could destroy him once Ron decides to leave him, but I don’t think AA is so heartless to put Toto in this situation. Apart from each other they have accumulated other friends too along the way. So maybe, just maybe it would not come to this.

You’re one of the only one of my mutuals (that I know of) who’s a Holmes fan. I was curious if you ever saw Elementary and what your thoughts on it were? I’ve been rewatching it recently since the entire series is now on Hulu and I was never able to finish it when it aired bc of all the nonsense that went on the last couple seasons.

I personally never liked BBC Sherlock (I won’t go into it here), but I did overall enjoy how Elementary brought Holmes and his world into the modern age, and I especially liked Jonny Lee Miller’s portrayal of Sherlock.

Anyway, I was curious.

Heya! I saw a couple of episodes of Elementary. But it didn’t really register with me. You’ve guessed it I was and sometimes still am a fan of Sherlock BBC.

Although they gender-bent Dr. Watson and Moriarty, the concept didn’t appeal to me.

I don’t know why. For a while I wanted to watch the Elementary episodes on Prime Amazon until I forgot and the episodes were no longer available anymore.

The BBC version for me personifies the modern version of what should be SH and JW are. The series could have been better if not for the ego of the show runners.

Thanks for this Ron/Toto blog. Love it 🥰🤩😆😁 I'm surprised that somehow, the shippers are not as many as I thought. Why do you think that Ron/Toto fics are not that many? The Ron/Toto dynamics and canon moments are already amazing. Like, I can name some 12 episodes anime with strong bromance vibes that have many shippers and famous in ao3. To me, it's a big mystery. Sorry for this stupid ask...

Okay, until now, what are your top 5 (or top 3) favorite cases in this series? Do you have any fav cover for the manga? And, do you have any fav panel of Ron/Toto? Sorry for this long ask...

Don’t worry the tribe will increase soon. I am seeing an influx after the season has ended but am afraid that it will be stagnant again now that the anime is finished. It grew steadily after the announcement of season 2 and rapidly growing a few months before it aired and during the airing. Hopefully the people won’t forget. Fandom is always what everyone makes and shares.

Concerning your ask, it always comes to personal taste. I really don’t know the motivations of others. This isn’t a gripe but just an observation. I’ve noticed that among the known gif makers here Toto is often left out. RKDD means Ron Kamonohashi alone. They probably don’t have the shipping goggles like you and I have. They probably don’t see that Toto Isshiki is Ron Kamonohashi’s hero through and through, who’s not tired at all to save him, who is always there, to protect him and guide him. Like what I’ve said earlier, it is just a matter of taste and interpreting the narrative. So I don’t begrudge them.

Although on AO3, there are 354 works about RKDD with 257 RonToto pairing. I think that’s a lot. So I think we can be happy with that. Don’t worry it is not a stupid question.

I always love their meet-cute from the first chapter. Toto declaring his all-out support for Ron, who was really shocked that there was someone who wanted to help him.

The Onsen arc. They just met for a few weeks but here they are in an onsen…

The Solitary Island Observatory arc where Ron was feeling invincible for the first time in five years bc Toto was there.

The Live Broadcast Murder arc where Ron was so depressed and the first time in the history of his friendship with Toto when the former thought that Toto almost died that made him say that he’d quit doing detective work bc he didn’t want Toto to be harmed.

The Plateau Auberge arc. Toto in this chapter is keen on supporting Ron however he can and more. What I love about the anime rendition is that they really highlighted Toto’s love for Ron. He just proves to be Ron’s hero after all. He’s ready to offer his life for Ron not to be alone when the fire surrounds them.

The case of the missing cabbage. Ron holds a birthday party for Toto!!!

The cruise ship serial murders arc. It is a long case but at the end of the day we are at the edge of our seats bc Toto is in danger and Ron has to save him to save himself.

Ohhhh… thank you for this. I love to look at pretty things, but I also would like to know the reasons behind those things. Kuroshitsuji, for example, has so many important facts (historical or otherwise) and so many creative people behind the series. It would be cruel not to mention them as well and other fan-related things.

Hello I love your art!!! I was reading through your changeling au and Felix mentions that fae are creatures of mirth. They literally need attention to survive. But what kind of attention? I guess I'm wondering because Adrien has been in the public eye for a while now, but has been personally neglected for even longer. What does that mean for him? Is he starving? Is he in danger of dying? Does he even know it? (I assume not given he doesn't even know he's Fae).

If he is starving / in danger of starving who is the first to realize this?

it depends on the mirth, on the attention, on what it is they seek. Without making things too complicated - I don't like to define everything into neat little boxes after all, there's fun in nuance - Felix is just explaining from his experience, the Fae he was with tended to be "entertained" by certain aspects of their playing, which was the mirth that kept them relevant. Relevancy more than anything is really what keeps their wheels greased.

In Adrien's case though, the reason he's cloying for so many names and to have so many thralls and attendants is because he SHOULD be a more social creature and has been kept woefully alone. He is kinda starving in the way a fae starves - he's relevant, but only in an image his father constructs OF him, which means it isn't REALLY him - and he has no one to play with. No friends, no lovers, and no rivals, makes a very sad fae
