I’m from Michigan so weather is of no concern to me but I’m wondering if whenever you have time maybe you could give me a fellow girls perspective on the city and stuff? Atlanta has god awful transportation and walk ability which is one of my biggest reasons for wanting to leave, but it’s always kinda scary jumping into a new urban center alone. idk if I've said it before, but your portrayals of both Rouxls and Queen are among my favorites, and the way they are when you combine the two is the sole thing that got me to say "yes" to queenkaard. When I first saw it in the game and it started catching on as a ship, I was like "nooo I hc him as gay," but then after seeing your stuff I was like "oh nvm I totally see this now."

i think hearing "i didn't see this ship before, but after your art i understand it and/or even ship it myself" is one of the nicest compliments i get, because it makes me feel like i'm representing something meaningful and sweet about a pairing and having people understand what i think is so great and captivating about them. i've gotten a couple asks like this and sometimes i forget to respond but i always really appreciate them :) thank you very much

Bruce elaborates, “He fired two rounds. 117-grain hollowpoints... twenty-five cents apiece from any gun store. Is that all their lives were worth, Alfred? Fifty cents of ammunition...? He left four rounds in the clip, one in the breech, dropped it and ran—afraid to finish what he started. And I just stood there. Would just like to vent because it’s something I’ve seen more of recently.

But talking about the English colonisation of Wales is important, in the UK anyway. And I’m fed up of it being put down or eye rolled or ridiculed.

Does the colonisation of our country absolve us of guilt in the colonisation of basically the rest of the world? No. Obviously not, dipshit. But why can’t I bring the conversation up without being told that I’m just trying to make excuses? Is it important within this conversation? Yes. But it’s not the aspect of the conversation I’m focusing on.

I’m not trying to play the oppression card here, that would be ridiculous. When I talk about Wales being colonised I’m not saying I, a white Welsh person am oppressed because of that fact. Even so far as English xenophobia (towards Welsh people) (which does exist… somehow… they’re complete hypocrites) that’s not what I’m getting at.

What I am getting at is that within the UK, to discuss Welsh politics, Welsh independence, the Welsh language is quite often to be ridiculed. The amount of jokes I have had thrown in my face because we have Welsh on our road signs or because we’re taught Welsh in school “but no one speaks it!”

There’s a reason for that. The English beat it out of us for generations, in 1967 we had the Welsh Language Act which was literally the first step that allowed us to use Welsh in legal proceedings. And I feel guilt and shame that I can’t speak Welsh. I feel as though I’m not Welsh enough because of it. That’s not my fault though, is it?

Bring any of this up to an English person (generally) and they put you down for it, it’s ridiculous, I’m an idiot, Welsh is just a scramble of consonants anyway, Wales would go down the drain without the union, sheep shagger, shithole etc etc

The odd thing is see. I’ve been told so many times that Wales is a leech, we take take take from England and give next to nothing back, we’ve no right to complain, forget Aberfan, forget Capel Celyn, ignore the current controversy around HS2 - we leech off England and we should be damn grateful that they have allowed us to be in the mere presence of this Union.

And yet it’s always these people who are staunchly against Welsh independence. Turns out we can keep leeching. If we just shut up about the way that England - Westminster - continues to mistreat us as a country.

And boy if you dare to call it Cymru, well you might as well have shit down their throats. Never mind the fact that the name Wales is an English given name meaning “foreigner” or “stranger” lest we be at home in our own damn country.

Regardless of your stance on the union and Welsh independence, England continues to mistreat us as a country and then gaslight us into believing we should be grovelling on our hands and knees thanking them - the amount of people I’ve seen be genuinely, purely nasty about it too is astonishing.

But then there’s Americans too who clearly don’t know shit about what they’re talking about who butt in telling me and other Welsh people that our politics, culture, language is now irrelevant and that we need to shut up because we contributed to colonialism. Babe I know, it’s awful but again, I’m not excusing it. At all. But where do you think England starting colonising first.

I'm gonna start a collection of character questions that actually help me when trying to flesh out a character. These'll be for characters you already have standing out in the open in your head, but who need more development before they get mixed into the fray.

If you want to use this as a questionnaire, always remember that you don't have to answer every question to get to know your character. Even just one or two answers to yourself can be enough.

Character Development Questions

Basic-ish:

Do they have any distinguishing features? (the way they look, the sound of their voice, the way they smell?)

About how old are they?

What's their gender? Sexuality? Are they open or closeted?

What is their ethnicity/cultural identity?

What was their socioeconomic class as a child? And as an adult?

What's their role in the story?

What is their primary Want? Do they need it?

Family and Relationships:

What was their parent/guardian situation growing up?

If they're an adult, what is their relationship with their parent/guardian now?

Do they have siblings? If they're adults, how close are they now?

Do they have children? How old were they when they had their first? Who helped raise them?

What kind of influence are their friends on them?

How easily do they make friends and why?

What traits do they find attractive in a friend?

How do they treat strangers/acquaintances? People they like? People they don't like? Coworkers?

Personality:

One word to describe their general/default mood.

On a scale of 1 to 10, how introverted are they? Extroverted? Pessimistic? Optimistic?

How would they describe not liking a food out loud?

And in prose?

How would they describe not liking a person, out loud and in prose?

What is their favorite place and why?

What is something that stresses them out?

What is something that relaxes them?

What truly scares them?

What is something that would make them happy/excited?

How do they react to physical pain?

How do they cope? (comedy, ranting, art?)

What embarrasses them?

What are they proud of?

What's their biggest strength? Their biggest weakness? (they can be the same thing)

Additional History:

What are their most prominent memories?

Have they ever lost a pet, family member, or friend? How old were they?

Did they move around as a kid?

Did their parent/guardian/community support their interests as a kid? Were they taught to hold themselves to a particular standard or expectation?

More Detailed Personality:

How do they react when forced to do something they don't want to? Could be forced physically or by circumstance.

If money, time, and consequences were no object, what would their perfect day be?

How much time do they spend on their appearance every day? Do they spend more or less money on their appearance then "average"? (don't look it up; it's a vibe check)

Who would they turn to for help? Is it always the same person? On a danger/severity scale of 1 to 10, at what point do they start asking for help? At what point do they stop asking for help? Is this one section or do they flip multiple times as the severity increases? Does this scale change depending on who's around/available?

Just For Funsies:

If they were in a coffee shop AU, would they be the barista, the customer, or the manager?

Do they know any tricks? (juggling, cartwheels, yoyo, dirt bike?)

If they were here with us, what shows/movies/books/games might they like?

What does the inside of their fridge look like? What about their workspace?

I am absolutely immune to German geography. A friend of mine lives in Würzburg and has told me many, many times where that is and every time i’ve forgotten it immediately afterwards. pertaining to the idea of tenax’s band of strays i do think it’s touching that the kids are the ones who saved him and waited outside the door to make sure he’s okay. for all tenax claims to be harsh and cruel it’s a fine indicator of his character that the kids won’t rest without him and are there every time he’s in danger.

For the WIP Q&A, I'd love to hear about the gods of your world and/or the religious system overall!

thanks for the ask! so this is a big one. the best answer i can give is most worship of a god is really based on where you live.

The Mage Kingdoms are obvious, as the main worship would be of the Mages' patron god (there are eight: Laeses, Raschic, Nybiegh, Oiena, Japhine, Uensine, Ynorr, and Ysydia; Force, Light, Shadow, Water, Fire, Healing/Plant, Stone, and Sky, respectively.) Depending on the country and how overreaching their religion is, someone who's not a Mage would be more likely to worship a more local god (lesser god, or a house god,) as opposed to one of the major or even minor gods. I've spoken about the Marshes, and how it's not really an option to worship Nybiegh, but the humans in, say Pelyra, don't have to pay any real tribute to the Sky God outside of a "hey, your force helped save us from the Fae Empires, so thanks for that, homie. Also appreciate all you do in holding the sun and moons and stars up. Pretty cool. And thanks for sometimes reigning in your more stormy kids. My crops appreciate that."

Minor gods may get a festival here and there, but most of them are more things of folktales and superstitions, (watch your hubris, the Trickster takes advantage of arrogance and a lack of caution, don't leave any kill to rot on the ground because their anger will call the Goddess of Revenge, and she'll create wasps from their carcass, etc etc.)

Lesser and house gods absolutely have more day to day worship of the common folk. A forest god who lives in the hollowed tree may receive prayers for light snow that year, or safe passage into town. A house god who's followed a bloodline for generations may get the first cut of meat at dinner. I have a story in my current wip about two gods who protect the one town the Goddess of the Wild allowed in her mountains, and how their opposite energies defend and nurture the town. The entrance to the town has a statue of each, and the stone on them is worn from people placing their hands on them as the enter.

The only thing that really spans across the nations of Tangera is that the collection of the major gods freed them from the shackles of the Fae Empires, and they're very glad for the whole pantheon, (even Aeriessa has gotten a better name for herself after she got knocked down many many pegs. Not a much better name, proven by her cult in Bhréchin, but a bit better.) Certain tributes to certain gods are compulsory unless you're very foolish, like leaving an offering for Ynorr, Goddess of Stone, before going underground, or praying to Oiena before traveling by sea, but any actual worship is only a big deal if the individual wants it to be, or lives somewhere where religious practices aren't an option.
