for the bingo!!! one mr. herman please!!!
Ahhhh Herman T. Unworth, prince of hell and heir of goofs, my freak of the week, my dearly beloved 💚💚💚
Tumblr media
"funny little dude, silly fellow, some sort of jester, even" was MADE for this guy and you can't convince me otherwise!!! He's such a little guy who just keeps getting put in increasingly dire Situations but his desire to Commit To The Bit overrides everything else and quite frankly I'm obsessed with that for him! I have also never seen a Hermie design that doesn't slap that boy can fit so many genders in him. All at once. He is That Kind Of Actor he Comes With Looks he contains multitudes!!! He's such a mischievous conniving little asshole and he's petty as hell and yet that makes me love him even more <3 And. Tbqh if I had met ANY of the teens in high school we would not have been friends - mostly due to the nature of the sort of cliques everyone would hang with lmao sorry guys ;-; But regardless Herman is SUCH a blorbo to me I love to see him gravely injured and pretending he's not always 2 seconds away from a complete identity crisis 🥰🥰🥰

Hi cupcake! Anti-Venom and 2, 4 and 12 for the ask game?
Hi honeybun! Sorry for the delay, I was busy horsing around! And thank you so much for the ask, I will try to not spontaneously combust while talking about my fave! And you did ask about my fave, so you brought this on yourself! Here we go!
2. Favourite canon thing about this character?
Before I start, I have to let you know, I am Indecisive(TM). As fuck. Which means I often don't have favourites simply because I cannot choose which one to pick. And also there are so many things about him that I love. Like his design. I love all the symbiotes but there is just something about his face and the way he looks that scratches my brain just right and makes me go apeshit. And that he is a wet pathetic dumbass extraordinaire, worse than when he is Venom even though he desperately tries to pretend like he's got his shit together. Like, they were always idiots but I swear Symby took half the braincells in the divorce, and when he got Anti they had to split what was left. And of course the whole religious nut messiah complex is funny as hell. Also little things like the way using his healing powers leaves him conked out, and the way he grows tiny spikes all over when he gets agitated or upset. God I love his little spikes. And also the way he embodies the whole "If I cannot be wanted, I will be needed, and if I cannot be needed I will be used until there is nothing left". Aughhh.
4. If you could put this character in any other media, be it a book, a movie, anything, what would you put them in?
I actually don’t do a lot of crossovers between different media, as I usually prefer putting my blorbos in situations in their own universe, or completely off the shits headcanons. But remember that story idea about symbiotes disguising themselves while in the spider verse? Yeah, I've stuck him in the spider verse a number of times for shits and giggles. Also because the multiverse means unlimited potential for settings and situations for them all to get roped into. Otherwise I do like putting him in medieval or fantasy settings, usually in multiverse context, because symbiote dragons babey!
12. What's a headcanon you have for this character?
Oh my. There are SO MANY HEADCANONS swirling around my noggin. (Like, I use canon for cherry picking, then take that and bits and pieces of fanon and anything I can find that I like and put it in a blender, then fill the gaps with whatever headcanons I feel like. Just frankensteining together several versions of him in my head that are between 30-80% headcanon, I keep them on rotation for whatever fits the mood.) One of my main headcanons is that Anti-Venom survives the spider island event. Simply because I don’t want him to die, and for fanfic plot reasons so that he and Agent Venom get more fun times together ;). I have a few different takes on how exactly the symbiote lives on, but it's kinda similar to how Carnage had bonded so closely with its host that it never really left, and could regenerate itself over time from the smallest traces in his body. Bonus points are that the biblical similarities of Anti-Venom sacrificing itself to save the souls of the innocent by giving up its body, only to rise from the dead some time later would absolutely send Eddie's messiah complex into overdrive and make him even more insufferable. Oh, right, and I should probably also mention that I frequently headcanon Anti-Venom as sentient/sapient. Because I want to, and because it makes things a lot more interesting. But I won't go into more detail about that here or else this will turn into a dissertation.
Hope you enjoyed my ramblings! I think I need to go lie down now...

Tumblr media
“Looking good tonight Candy.”
You rolled your eyes, frowning.
“Thanks Dave.”
Having your manager check you out every time you clocked in was one of the less fun parts of your job.
You didn’t clock in to make any kind of hourly pay, and your real name was definitely not Candy. As a dancer at a gentleman's club you made your money on a pole and in private lap dance rooms, but it’s whatever pays the bills, and as a college student being able to make over a thousand dollars a week working just two nights was worth it.
After checking in, you went back to the dressing room to check your makeup and outfit one last time and grab your money bag before heading back out to get your night started.
Saturday nights used to not be your favorite, but they had been for a few months now because of one customer. The first night you met him, his friends had dragged him in after getting dumped to cheer him up. When you sat down with the nine of them you already knew it would be a good night, judging by the *quite* expensive VIP booth they’d bought.
Your first impression of him wasn’t anything out of the ordinary, having met plenty of relatively good looking guys while working at the club and being quite used to groups like them doing birthdays or bachelor parties.
They were a fun group, and you found yourself actually having fun as they bought you rounds of drinks and perched you on their newly single friends lap.
That night his friends bought him a private room with you, and he’d been back to see you again every Saturday night since.
Baekhyun always arrived pretty early in the evening so you sat yourself down at the bar and made yourself look busy while you waited for him to show up. Tonight you were wearing a matching lace lingerie set along with a new pair of clear heels, and your hair straight down your back. With your nails done and your favorite perfume on to top it all off, you felt sexy as hell. On weeknights you didn’t try as hard, but on days he would be there you always made sure to put in a little extra effort to look as nice as possible. You told yourself it was just because he payed you so much, so you wanted to look your best. But you’d have been lying to yourself if you didn’t admit that you wanted to impress him. Baekhyun, especially compared to other customers, was quite attractive. Having him fawn over you and compliment you always made you feel good.
You feel a tap on your shoulder followed by a “hey” and turn around to see Baekhyun grinning back at you.
“Hi Baekhyun” you smile back, getting up and giving him a small hug.
“Hi Candy.”
Standing in 8 inch stripper heels you’re slightly taller than Baekhyun, and you find his usual glasses + hoodie + cargo pants combo endearing. Despite being somewhere around 30 and therefore significantly older than you, you can’t help but find him cute, adorable even.
“Can I buy you a drink?” He asks, already knowing your answer.
“Of course, you know what I like” you say, giving him smirk and running one perfectly manicured hand over his shoulder, and down his toned chest.
The whole time you touched him his eyes were fixated on yours, looking at you with an intensity you weren’t used to, something you’d noticed was unique to him compared to the other men you met there.
“Your outfit tonight it.. um..” he says, eyes now looking you up and down, almost drooling. “ I like it.”
 It was the same thing every time he’d come see you. He’d buy two beers, one for him and one for you, and shorty after pay you $800 for an hour together in a private dance room. For any other guy it would be $1000, but he didn’t need to know that.
You made your way up the stairs towards the area of the club with the private dance rooms hand in hand, leading him behind you to give him the best view.
“Do you want me to dance for you today or do you just wanna talk?” You asked as you entered the room and took your top off, standing in front of him as he sat down on the couch. Usually you would dance for him for a few songs and spend the rest of the time sitting on his lap listening to him talk about whatever it might be that week but some days he just wanted your company and nothing more.
“Just for this song, I really like this song.” He said looking up at you with big eyes. So, you got to work doing your usual thing.
Getting into the rhythm of the music, you started swaying your body and slowly leaning towards him.
This time both of your hands find purchase on his chest and you move your body in a wave, giving him the full close up view of your bare chest.
As you lean back up you notice he’s slumped deeper into the couch and biting his lip, already thoroughly turned on.
“Holy shit” he muttered to himself, watching your nearly naked form sway in front of him.
The way he looked at your body was different too. Most men looked at you like nothing more than a piece of meat, something to use for pleasure and nothing more. Not that you minded, as long as you got your money, but the way Baekhyun looked at you as you danced for him was almost like someone observing a piece of art.
You rotated your body until you’re facing away from him, and bent down slowly, the curves of your ass on full display to him, making it jiggle a bit before bending back up and lowering yourself onto his lap.
“God you’re something else, I wish I could touch you.”
You noticed him sit on his hands, because of course he wasn’t actually allowed to touch you, you were only allowed to touch him.
Once you were situated on his lap, you started moving your hips to the music, causing his head to hit the back of the couch.
As usual, you could feel his dick straining against his pants as you rolled your hips over him.
“Fuck” you heard him whisper.
You knew how much he was holding himself back by the way he was sweating and panting. He was one of the few costumers who had never once tried to touch you, not even a little bit. Which you appreciated, but right now you felt yourself almost wanting him to, knowing that his reaction alone would be worth it for you to see.
So against your better judgement, and with the hope of a little extra money, you turn around, knees straddling his right thigh, and put your arms on each of his shoulders. You play with the hair at the base of his neck and whisper in his ear
“If you really want to, you can touch.”
You almost feel bad when you notice his entire body go rigid beneath you, eyes wide at your words.
“Are you serious?”
“I mean nothing too invasive please, but I don’t mind if you want to caress me here and there” you respond with a smile.
“Okay”
You see him swallow as you lowered yourself onto his lap again, this time feeling his hands make contact with the bare skin of your waist.
As you let your hips move with the music, his hands slowly wandered across your waist, hips, and sides. His hands on you were surprisingly warm, soft, and gentle. Under his gaze and in his hands you felt like your body wasn’t just being used for shallow, fleeting pleasure. You felt appreciated.
And this was exactly the problem with Baekhyun.
You knew that you liked him too much, more than you should like one of your customers. You shouldn’t be thinking about how soft and pretty his hands are as they make their way across the skin of your thighs.
“You’re so beautiful. Your skin is so soft.”
You smile, now facing him once again as you sit with your knees on either side of his leg. You feel his words in the pit of your stomach and your hands caress his shoulders and chest, only now with his hands gently placed on your hips.
A few body rolls later and the song was over, so you shifted your weight onto one of his legs, sitting down on his lap, wrapping an arm around his shoulder, and leaning into the couch.
“You’re gonna completely ruin me one day” he breathed out, making you giggle. “Why’d you let me do that?”
“I don’t know, I guess I could tell how much you held back and most guys try to touch me anyway so..”
“They just do it anyway?” His eyes narrowed.
“Yeah well I tell them not to and usually it’s fine after that”
You could sense his discomfort with what you’d just said, looking genuinely agitated.
“Yeah well those guys aren’t worth your time no matter how much they’re paying” he muttered so quietly you almost didn’t hear.
“This is my job Baekhyun, there’s bad customers in every job” you respond timidly.
He turned to look you in the eyes again, this time more intensely due to the proximity of you sitting on his lap.
“Do you like working here?”
“Please don’t ask me that.”
“You know you don’t have to, I can take care of you.”
With the way his eyes bore into yours and he gripped your thigh, you knew he was serious. And you’d be lying if you said you weren’t tempted by his words.
Nonetheless you got up from his lap and sat next to him, bodies no longer touching.
“You know that’s not how this works Baekhyun.” You cross your arms over your bare chest, feeling like you needed to hide.
You look down, not wanting to look at him as you continue.
“It’s my job to make you feel good and give you something nice to look at but that’s all it is. My job. I’m sorry.”
He knew you were right. He knew because despite coming to see you every week for a few months now, he knew nothing about you. You wouldn’t tell him any details about your personal life, hell he didn’t even know your real name.
He knew he was stupid to have let himself become so completely fucked over a girl who wouldn’t even tell him her name.
“It’s okay, I understand, I’m sorry if that was too far”
You look at him again, giving him a soft smile.
“How was your week?” You ask, trying to change the subject.
You soon find yourself back on his lap as he starts talking to you about his week, but you couldn’t help feeling guilty. You could tell what Baekhyun felt for you was more than just sexual attraction, and yet he knew nothing about you. He’d asked you general things and you’d told him you were college student, which was true, but you’d lied about which college you attended. He asked about what you were studying and you’d lied about that too, quickly changing the topic back to him and his life.
Every time he tried to get to know the real you, you pushed him away, and you knew he could tell.
It fell silent for a moment, until Baekhyun spoke up.
“This is for touching you” he said as he dug in his pocket before pulling out three hundred dollar bills and putting them in the waistband of your thong.
He didn’t look at you as he gave you the money. It wasn’t until he was done that he grabbed your hand, and gave you another intense look.
“Please, can I please just know your name?” He asked.
With you sitting on his lap, faces close together you saw the desperation in his eyes. He’d spent a decent amount of time with you now and you knew how badly he wanted to know more about you, how much he wanted to be able to get to know the real you.
The way he looked up at you, with that look in his eyes, you knew you couldn’t tell him no.
You sighed.
“Okay. I’m y/n.”
~
Shorty after your hour together was up, Baekhyun went home and so did you. Counting your money was easy that night; just the eleven hundred dollar bills he’d given you.
As you took your makeup off and got ready to finally sleep you couldn’t help but feel strange about Baekhyun knowing your real name. Despite how nice he smelled, how cute he was, and how kind, generous, and funny, and how you liked spending time with him more than any other customer, that’s still exactly what he was. A customer. Someone who walked into a club looking to pay hot girls in exchange for their attention. But at that point Baekhyun was your friend too. He’d been coming to see you for the whole summer, and you really did enjoy talking to him.
Is it okay for him to actually get to know you? Is it okay for you to want him to?
Next Chapter

a/n: this was the first smut i ever wrote, so it’s a bit rough lol
Tumblr media
you carry your data pad as you stomp down the halls of the finalizer, your boots clacking against the floor. today has been a stressful day for you. general hux has been up your ass for you to finish the reports on the battle at crait and have them on his desk. thoughts have been probing your mind though, as you are the new supreme leader’s significant other. you miss kylo, he’s been very busy, doing his new job, so it’s been a few days since you’ve seen him. all you want to do is unwind, relax and cuddle into his chest.
you soon find yourself at kylo’s quarters.you meant to just go to your own room, but your wandering mind lead you here. you hesitate to knock on the door, hand raised, as it slides open.
“(y/n)... i sensed you… i—“ he’s not wearing his mask, so you stand on your toes and kiss him. his hand travels to the small of your back as he kisses you back.
kylo pulls away to grab onto your jumpsuit and pull you into his room, closing the door with the force.
“i’ve missed you… so i thought i could finish my reports with you. i-i’m sorry i haven’t gotten them done, i’ve been very distracted.” you say, looking down at your boots, cheeks dashed with pink from the spontaneous act.
a smile tugs at his lips as he nods. “i’ve missed you too. and i’d love that. even just enjoying your company would be perfect.”
you nod and sit on his luxurious bed. it’s much better than your queen bed in your quarters. kylo gets under the sheets and watches you. you pull out papers stuck under the case of the data pad and cross your legs, putting the tablet in them.
kylo’s mind is racing, he’s staring at your back and ass. it’s been months since he last had his way with you. he’s been able to kiss you and talk to you, but sex has not occurred in so long, leading to lonely nights in the shower. he’s touched himself, imagining it being your hand instead of his own. he desperately wants to throw the data pad across the room, tear up the papers, rip off your jumpsuit, and pin you to the bed.
you type away on your data pad and take your hair out of its low bun, running your fingers through it and sighing. “the loses were great. my report is going to get me killed…”
kylo sits up and frowns, moving closer to you. “i’m the supreme leader now (y/n) and you aren’t going anywhere.”
kylo pushes your hair away from your neck and begins to kiss your neck. you bite your lip and grip the data pad tighter. “k-kylo…”
he smirks, knowing he has your sweet spot under his lips, he sucks on your neck, leaving a purple bruise. when he pulls away, he kisses it gently and lays back down in the bed. your face is bright red now, and you feel a heat in between your thighs.
he’s watching you carefully, as you try to calm your breathing. you’re almost done, just a little bit longer and he can have his way with you. just a little bit longer and he can relieve the wetness in between your legs.
“i can read your thoughts… you want me so bad.” he smirks.
you turn around and see the sheets pulled back with a shirtless and pantless supreme leader. you look down at his cock and lick your lips. how badly you want to suck him off, and make him cum all over your face.
“k-kylo…” you whisper, not being able to avert your eyes.
he touches his cock and begins to pump it, slowly, and he groans. his eyes have clouded over with lust as he looks at you. “see what you do to me? how much power you have over me?”
you nod quickly and keep watching him, but he stops. you breathe a sigh of relief and turn back around, allowing yourself to get back into the report. kylo comes up behind you again, and slides his hand in between your legs, rubbing your sex through your jumpsuit. you moan and tilt your head back, trying not to get distracted. he stops and smirks, watching you carefully. few more sentences and you’ve officially sent part of your report to the general.
since you had to get up anyways, you decide to tease kylo. climbing off the bed, you see his large member desperate to be touched and his eyes on you. you turn in front of him and kick off your boots.
then, you slowly unbutton your jumpsuit, making sure to take your time with every button. then, you pull it off your shoulders, slowly, and slide it off your body, extending your ass toward kylo. he quickly climbs out of the bed and pulls the outfit off of you, and slaps your ass. you yelp out of shock, but he knows how much you like it.
he presses his member against your ass, still covered by panties. you lean back into him and look up at his face. he smiles down at you as you reach your hand up to touch the scar that runs down his cheek.
“i sent out part of it. hux will get the written portion later.” you whisper.
kylo’s hand slides in between your thighs and pulls your panties aside, rubbing his cock against your folds. your body shakes but his body is strong so he holds you up.
kylo can’t take it anymore. he unhooks your bra and rips your panties off. he picks you up with the force and tosses you on the bed. he soon crawls up the bed, slowly, and when he reaches you, he passionately kisses you.
you moan into the kiss, tangling your hands in his raven locks. kylo wraps a hand around your throat while he kisses you.
“i know how rough you like it. so i’m gonna give it to you that way. you understand, slut?” kylo whispers against your lips.
“p-please supr-supreme leader. i need yo-you…” you manage to get out these words.
kylo smirks, and lets go of your throat. being called supreme leader or sir is something that gets him off. he kisses down your chest, pinching your hard nipples as he gets down to your mound. he looks up at you through his eyelashes and takes your clit into his mouth, sucking on it.
you gasp in pleasure and put your hands in his hair, tugging at his wavy locks. he rotates between licking and sucking your sweet spot. he then inserts his index finger inside you, as he continues to lick your cunt.
you can’t even gather words to say, or make noise. you just let out short breaths and arch your back, trying to pull his finger inside you more. he then inserts his middle finger, curling the two inside you and thrusting them in and out. he detaches his mouth from you and licks his lips, looking at you.
your ass is lifted off the bed, sweat gleaming down your chest. an orgasm is building up, you can feel the pressure in your stomach. “cum for me baby. you’ve been a good girl.”
you squeeze your eyes tightly and scream out his name, as he thrusts his fingers into you faster, rubbing your clit with his other hand. “fuck! kylo!”
you release all over his fingers, and even all over the sheets. you pant heavily as kylo pulls out his fingers out of you. he smirks and takes his fingers into his mouth, licking your juices from them. your cheeks get red as you watch the supreme leader, being so vulnerable as to lick you from his fingers.
“i-i think it’s your turn sir…” you whisper
kylo smirks and grips your face with his spit soaked fingers, pinching the sides of your jaw. “you wanna please me huh? so desperate to make me cum you little slut?”
you stare into his eyes and nod quickly. kylo lets your face go and slaps your cheek, then flips you up, laying where you were. he grabs your hair and pulls you down to his cock where he forces your mouth around it. he uses his hand knotted in your hair to face fuck you. the sounds coming out of your mouth are obscene. gagging and moaning fill the cold air of kylo’s chambers. you’re certain anyone walking by would know exactly what was going on in this room.
kylo pulls your head up and you gasp for air. you could take almost all of him, but it took a lot out of you. precum is leaking from his pink tip and you’re desperate to see what he wants to do next.
“ride my cock princess. and go fast. i know you can keep cumming over and over again for me. that’s what my slut does right?” he says, voice sounding animalistic.
“yes sir. i do whatever you want me. i-i will cum again for you.” you say, voice hoarse from taking his cock down your throat.
you climb up to his member. everytime you look at it, you can’t believe you take that inside of you. you straddle his waist and he slaps your ass.
“you’re taking too long” he says through his teeth. “hurry up, my whore.”
with that, you lower yourself onto him. kylo grips your hips, pushing you down as far as you go. it’s been long since he stretched you out and your cunt is tight, squeezing his length with your walls. he uses his hands gripped on your waist to bounce you up and down a few times, your breasts bouncing and eyes hooded, but he doesn’t want you riding him tonight like he thought. he wants to push into you at the deepest angle. he wants your legs spread and in the air, while he forces himself in the deepest parts of your pussy, basically reaching your cervix.
kylo flips the two of you once more, not even leaving the wetness of your sex. you wrap your legs around his hips and he thrusts into you at an accelerated pace. his head tilts back at the pleasure, your walls not letting him go.
you on the other hand, just had another orgasm, screaming out in pleasure as kylo seems to go faster than he already was. “oh stars!! kylo please fuck me! give me more!” you yell.
“(y/n), you feel so good. so tight for me. open your eyes baby” kylo moans, hair clinging to his face and neck.
you open your eyes and look into his, he smiles sweetly and at you continues to pound your cunt. he then leans down and passionately kisses you. you kiss back and bite his lip. he moans and parts his lips, allowing you to slip your tongue in his mouth. you can taste yourself lingering on his tongue. you can feel your orgasm coming closer and closer as kylo’s lips part from yours. he buries his face in the crook of your neck, kissing your shoulder and moaning against it.
“stars kylo! i’m so close!” you exclaim, moaning loudly.
“me too! fuck!” he yells as you drag your nails down his back.
you continue to squeeze around him and with that, he can’t hold on any longer. he finishes inside you, releasing all inside you. you moan as you feel him fill you up and you release all around him, not wanting his cock to leave you.
the two of you lie there for a moment, panting and staring at each other. kylo laughs lightly as do you, and he slowly pulls out of you, watching his cum leak out of your cunt. you stick your fingers inside yourself, scooping up his cum and taking it into your mouth, swallowing it.
“you’re so beautiful…” he whispers as he lays down next to you.
blush coats your cheeks as he pulls the covers up around the two of you.
“and you took me so well. you’re so amazing (y/n)” he pulls you into his chest and you smile to yourself, knowing you’re the luckiest girl in the galaxy.

Obispo Losa
Tumblr media
Part two of Obispo and Lily. I have so many ideas for this and I'm so excited to try them out! Thank you all for the love and encouragement!
Warnings: Swearing, Angst
As always, I do not own anything Mayans related. I do own my character and her story.
My first language is English. I do know some Spanish but I am not fluent. I will be keeping the Spanish in this story to a minimum to avoid butchering a beautiful language.
"Come on, it'll be fun!"
"You said that last time, Leti."
"I know and I'm really sorry about what happened, but I swear nothing like that would ever go down here. The guys wouldn't allow it."
"I don't know, Leti..."
"Come on! Bishop has been asking about you. He wants to see you."
"He said that?"
"...In so many words."
"Leti!"
"He has been asking about you! 'how's your friend, Leticia? How's her arm? Have you seen her today?" Leti dropped her voice to mimic the low bravado that was Bishop's voice.
"He did not ask you all that!"
"He did!"
"Really?"
"Yes, Lily!"
"Okay, what time is this party?"
"Uhh the guys have a meeting and then we usually party afterwards. Maybe like eight o'clockish? I'll text you the address."
"Sounds good."
"Oh and Lily, wear something slu-"
Click.
Lily tapped the red button quickly, not wanting to hear the rest of that sentence. She would wear whatever she wanted and it would not be to impress any man. Or so she thought, until the clock ticked 7:30 and she was buzzing around her bedroom, ripping open drawers and rifling through her closet like a mad woman. Swearing under her breath, Lily's frustration mounted as nothing seemed to fit right.
Lily was a bit curvier than most women, especially her friend Leti. Borrowing an outfit from her would be out of the question and some how everything in Lily's closet just seemed wrong. Blowing out an annoyed puff of air, Lily looked back over her clothes, trying not to be so critical. Bishop probably wouldn't even notice, not with all his friends around. Or so she hoped...
Gravel crunched under her tires as Lily turned off the road and into the driveway of what looked like some kind of auto mechanic business. A sign for oil changes and tire rotations hung out front, welcoming visitors into what looked like a run down garage. Random cars sat around, looking like they were falling apart or maybe just scrap pieces for other projects. A house sat connected to the garage, a porch welcomed any visitors and a large fire pit sat in front of its steps with a few picnic tables dotted around.
Parking her car off to the side, Lily wondered if she had the wrong address. Eyeing the row of motorcycles, she changed her mind. This had to be right.
Lily stepped out of her car just as the front door opened. A man she recognized immediately stepped out. Black hair buzzed close to his head, thin mustache, thick muscled arms. Oh yeah, she remembered him. He had steadied her when the guy had shoved her and then later, Leti had hugged him like they were best friends.
Lily offered him a smile, noting the way his leather vest differed slightly from the others she had seen. "Hi, I'm Lily, Leti invited me?"
"Yeah, hi, EZ."
"Wait, what?"
"Ezekiel Reyes, EZ for short." He grinned, "nice to meet you Lily." His eyes seemed to twinkle in the fading light. Somewhere in her mind she knew instantly that he was someone she could trust and with that realization a portion of her nervousness evaporated. EZ met her at the bottom of the porch steps, shaking her hand gently.
"Nice to meet you too." She couldn't help but return his smile, it was infectious.
"Leticia's inside, you can head on in, I'm going to start a fire." EZ jerked his head toward the door.
"Thank you!" Lily stepped inside, looking around at the unusual decor. A large statue of Saint Mary stood by the door, various framed pictures hung on the walls and the furniture looked like hand-me-downs from an array of different homes with different styles. The place was definitely decorated by men. Lily laughed to herself, smile growing as she spotted her friend across the room. Though the place was dimly lit, Lily could plainly see Leticia working hard behind the bar. Her hands moved quickly, preparing drinks, or food, or both. Glancing up as Lily shut the door, Leticia let out a squeal.
"You made it!"
"I did!"
"Yay! Get over here and help me prep this stuff! The guys will be out any minute."
"Out?" Lily dropped her purse on the bar stool at the end before walking around the bar. As expected, there was a mini kitchen set-up back there. Fridge, stove, microwave, sink, what little counter Lily could see was covered in random food items. Everything from salsa and chips to hot dogs and hamburgers sat before them.
"Yeah, they had a meeting tonight, but it should be over soon." She nodded in the direction of a rusted sliding door. "They'll grill the meat for us, but I like to have the sides and stuff ready to go a while."
"Okay," Lily wasn't sure what kind of meeting she meant, but it didn't matter anyway. She was too busy trying to calm the butterflies in her stomach to ask anything else. Leti handed her a knife and a bowl of peppers, instructing her to chop them up.
Lily had just finished the bowl and was washing her hands when a metallic screech filled the. Lifting her eyes as the door rolled open, Lily watched as the first few guys stepped through. One broke away from the rest, smiling at her as he plopped himself on the nearest bar stool.
"What's up, how are you?"
"Good, thank you, better than when we first met."
"Glad to hear it!" He swiped a stand of black hair away from his face, smiling at her warmly.
"Lily, this is my dad, Coco."
Lily felt her brows raise, surprised by the information. He looked so young, more like a brother than a father. She didn't comment on it though, instead, she smiled, offering her hand, "nice to meet you, Coco. Thanks for helping out the other night."
"Nahh, that was all Bish. We were just back up if things popped off."
"Sounds like they did later!" Leti jumped in.
"Yeah! Heard Bish broke that pendejo's nose!"
"Serves him right!" Lily stayed quiet, smiling as Leti and Coco continued talking. They really did act a lot alike and the resemblance in their faces was uncanny.
Eyes flicking to the doorway again, Lily was surprised by the amount of disappointment that washed through her.
"Bish is still at the table. Thinking things through I guess." Coco supplied, meeting her eyes with a knowing smile. Lily blushed, nodding as she looked down at her hands.
"Why don't you take him a beer? Tell him the meats on the grill?" Leti suggested, elbowing her gently.
"Yeah, that ones his favorite." Coco leaned across the bar, pointing to one of the many bottles they had just uncapped for the guys.
"Do you think that would be okay?" Lily asked awkwardly, shifting from one foot to the other.
"As long as he's not talking business with anyone, he shouldn't care." Coco shrugged, taking a bottle for himself.
Lily nodded again, grabbing the bottle he had pointed to and striding confidently across the room. Her bravery didn't last long though. By the time she was standing in the door way her anxiety was back in full swing. The coast was clear, no one else was with him.
He sat alone, smoking a cigarette, papers laying in front of him. The room was dark, one single light hung overhead, casting a soft glow over Bishop's chair. He looked like a king sitting in the spotlight. His bulky frame illuminated against the dark of the room.
It's now or never.
Lily cleared her throat, stepping into the room hesitantly, praying he wouldn't throw her back out. He looked deep in thought and extremely tired, probably not in the mood to chit chat. This was a bad idea. Lily berated herself. What made her think this was a good plan?
Bishop's head lifted, cigarette nearly falling out of his mouth as he realized who was joining him. Her breath caught in her throat as he looked at her. Dark eyes fell all the way to her feet, taking in a pair of blood-red heels before dragging slowly up her body to land on her face. The black dress she'd chosen clung to her body in way that she hoped was flattering and not accenting her every bump and roll. She shifted on her feet, suddenly questioning her decision to wear this outfit. That was... Until she watched his tongue poke out of his mouth, wetting his lips almost nervously. Dropping his cigarette into a nearby ash tray, Bishop stood up, almost toppling his chair with his hastiness.
"Lily?"
"Hi, Obispo." She smiled, heat rising to her cheeks as he stared openly at her. "I umm... Brought you a drink." She lifted the bottle, stepping closer to hold it out to him. She swallowed hard as he walked around the table, wrapping his hand around the neck of the bottle, grazing her fingers as he took it.
"Thank you." His mustache lifted as he smiled at her, eyes twinkling with something she couldn't place. "Am I drinking alone?" He spoke teasingly, lifting the beer to his lips and taking a slow sip.
Lily watched his throat work as he swallowed it, clocked the way his plush lips pressed against the glass. Clearing her throat again, Lilly took a step back. "I-I don't really drink, but I uh... I wanted to let you know the meats on the grill a- and the food will be ready soon."
"Thank you," he said again with that same smile on his lips. He was amused by her awkwardness, finding her stammering cute. He liked this kind of nervousness, jitters brought on by attraction and not fear. Seeing her retreat another step, Bishop pushed off the table where he was previously leaning. "You don't have to go."
"I should help Leti with the rest of the stuff." Lily jerked a thumb over her shoulder, stumbling as she bumped into a chair.
"Watch that, querida." Bishop gave her a lopsided smile, taking one long step forward, the urge to be closer to her guiding his feet.
"Yeah..." Lily took another step back, tripping over another chair in the process. This time she couldn't catch herself, she was too shaken, too flustered. Bishop lunged forward, wrapping an arm around her waist before she could fall.
He pulled her upright, tugging her against his chest, steadying her with one hand all while holding his beer with the other. The little gasp that left her lips had his heart stuttering in his chest. "Easy does it, querida." His breath fanned her face, his voice low and soft.
He smelled of cigarettes and leather and a hint of spearmint. His hand laid heavy on her back, fingers splayed wide, each one burning a hole through the material of the dress. He was warm and tall and all hard planes where she was short and soft, fitting perfectly against his broad chest. Lily's small hands pressed to his stomach, torn between pushing him away and letting him hold her.
"Bish..." It was soft and breathy and effecting him in way that was completely inappropriate for only talking to her twice.
"I'm here, Preciosa." He spoke with the same volume as her, hushed, low, a tone that shot right to her belly. Her insides seems to melt and mush. A shiver crawled down her spine, goosebumps raising on her arms. He gazed down at her, dark eyes boring into hers as his thumb traced a slow circle on her lower back.
"Lily! Get your ass out here and help me!" Leti yelled from the other room sounding agitated. Lily startled in his arms, and just like that the spell was broken. Her hands were pushing off his stomach and she was stepping away before he could stop her.
Bishop dropped his arm reluctantly, feeling as if all the heat was zapped from his body as he did. It took everything in him not to reach out and pull her back, instead he gripped his beer tighter, sinking back into a chair as she disappeared through the doorway. Releasing a sigh, Bishop raked a hand through his hair. Shit.

“I wanted to say sorry, again. When I left the Fire Nation, I didn’t want to see you because I didn’t want to see your disappointment. I was worried that maybe your father had said something that had made you change your mind about me.”
(Y/N) had taken time bathing herself that night. The houses of the royal families were incredibly elaborate, so each room had its own bathroom. The water that ran from the taps was cold, since usually there was at least one firebending servant that would run around to heat the water. That night, (Y/N) was the firebending servant for her friends. Once she had heated everyone’s water, she trudged up the stairs to her own bathroom and began preparing her bath.
It had been a long time since she had had a bubblebath. Luckily, she remembered where the servants used to put the soap and added an outrageous amount of hot water in the tub. Once the bubbles were to her liking, she slid inside and released a content sigh.
The events of the day had eased the turmoil in her heart. While she was still recovering from the hurt that Zuko had caused her, the anger had subsided tremendously. (Y/N) could feel the tension that had been in her muscles ever since Zuko joined their group ease away as the hot water seeped into her skin.
She didn’t know how long she had been in there, but the moon was high by the time she stepped out to dry herself off. She took one of the fluffy robes from the closet and wrapped herself in it. It felt a bit stiff, like it hadn’t been worn in a while, but it gave her some comfort. It reminded her of home.
A knock resounded against the wood door to her bedroom. Quickly, she opened it, revealing Zuko standing awkwardly in the hallway.
“Oh,” she said. “Hi.” She still felt guilty from their fight earlier. She had gotten so angry and lost control, something she had never done before. She felt no better than the Fire Lord himself.
“Hi,” Zuko said. He looked past her and into her room. “I noticed you picked your old room.”
“Yeah, it’s the only one that felt comfortable.” She gave Zuko a weak smile. “Don’t tell Aang that he’s in Azula’s.”
Zuko laughed his raspy, beautiful laugh. (Y/N’s) heart felt uncomfortable in her chest. Like it had grown too big.
“It’s weird,” she continued. “Being back here. Everything was so different the last time I was here.”
“Yeah,” Zuko agreed. “I know the feeling.” She knew that the last time he had been here was when he was still with Mai. He had visited the island with her, Azula, and Ty Lee. A reunion had happened, of sorts. Minus (Y/N). “Can I...come in?”
She nodded, stepping to the side. He walked directly to the chair in front of the vanity, which was all the way across the room from where she would go to sit on her bed. The distance between them felt like miles.
“I wanted to say sorry, again. When I left the Fire Nation, I didn’t want to see you because I didn’t want to see your disappointment. I was worried that maybe your father had said something that had made you change your mind about me.”
“My father could never do that, Zuko.”
“I know. And I think back then, I knew that too. But then I saw you with the Avatar, and we didn’t have the reunion that I wanted. It just made me so mad that you were fighting with the person that was preventing me from going home. I was so angry after we would fight. I felt like you were picking him over me. Then in Ba Sing Se, when you came to visit, I know I didn’t look like it, but I was so happy that day. But then underneath the palace, you were fighting against Azula and I. I had worked it into my head that you and Uncle were traitors. The entire time that I was back home and you were in prison, I couldn’t shake the feeling that I had done something wrong. I walked around the halls of the palace and it all felt fake, like something was missing. Now I realize that I had been wrong about everything. While I know it doesn’t excuse it, I wanted to tell you again how sorry I am.”
(Y/N) blinked at him. She wasn’t quite sure what to say. Never in a million years would the Zuko she knew have expressed his thoughts so clearly. A lot had happened to them, to the both of them, since they had last been together like this. He had grown and changed into someone who learned from his mistakes and sought to rectify his wrongs. She hadn’t let herself see that when he first joined them.
“I forgive you.” Her voice was soft, but her gaze was piercing. Zuko felt like she was staring straight into his soul. “I’m sorry for being so mean to you when you first got here.”
“You had every right to be.”
“I didn’t, though. Even when I was at my angriest with you, I couldn’t truly believe that you were evil. Believe me, I tried. Everything that you did to hurt my friends and I should’ve made me hate you, but it didn’t. I think that it made me mad that I couldn’t fully be mad at you.” She bent her head down and looked at her hands. “I should have never, ever challenged you to an Agni Kai, Zuko. I was just so upset and once I started saying it, I just couldn’t stop. I would never actually want to hurt you.”
“I know, (Y/N).” They stood at the same time. “It’s nice to be here. With you. When I was here before it felt...” He trailed off, leaving his sentence incomplete.
She smiled. “As surprising as this sounds, it’s good to be back.” Zuko smiled.
“I’ll uh, be in my room if you need me.” She nodded, shutting the door behind him as he walked out. She dressed in her pajamas and crawled into bed, turning on the side to face the empty wall. If she pretended hard enough, she was a kid again. Life was easy and all she had to worry about was mastering her newest firebending move.
When she came downstairs the next day, Sokka was practically begging the entire group to go see a play about their lives. “C’mon!” He said. “It’ll be fun. We deserve to live a little!”
And while the last thing (Y/N) wanted was to watch a play about herself, she came along anyway. It would be a lot better than sitting in the beach house by herself. The old memories that came flooding back whenever she turned a corner were too much sometimes.
Despite coming to the island nearly every summer when she was younger, (Y/N) had never been to the theater. Her father and Zuko’s were always far too busy to deal with such frivolous things (meaning their children).
They had chosen balcony seating, but who to sit next to was a serious question that was bothering (Y/N). The only open seats were by either Zuko and Sokka and while her relationships were improving with both, she wasn’t sure if she could spend two hours sat next to them. So she grabbed Aang by the shoulders and shoved him down into the seat next to Zuko. She took her own seat on the other side of Aang.
“Thank you,” She whispered to him as the lights dimmed. Aang furrowed his brows in confusion and then shrugged.
At the start of the play, (Y/N) was enjoying herself. Aang’s actor portrayed him as an idealistic child, which made her laugh. Katara’s character was always wailing about hope and Sokka’s was a bit cringy, but so was Sokka. But then, her character appeared on-stage.
The actress portraying her tripped over her baggy Earth Kingdom clothes as she stumbled into Sokka’s character. “Wow,” Fake (Y/N) swooned, her eyes wide. “You’re so handsome!”
(Y/N) shrank into her seat, hiding her face from her friends as they turned to look at her.
“I live an amazing life up in my father’s mansion in this city. I have everything I could have ever asked for, but I am very selfish!” Her character smiled and put her hands on her hips. “That’s why I’ve decided to betray the Fire Nation and help the Avatar!”
The audience booed at her. Throughout the rest of the play, all her character did was cry over how unfairly she had been treated by her nation. “And then!” Her character exclaimed. “They gave me bananas instead of the apples I had ordered from the servants!” Fake (Y/N) burst into tears. She did that a lot.
When her character and Zuko’s encountered each other, her character burst into tears again. “Zuko! My one true love, who was taken away from me by the wretched Fire Nation! I am so happy to see you!” Her character leaned in for a kiss, but he pushed her face away.
“I don’t talk to traitors!” Zuko’s character declared. This made Fake (Y/N) cry even harder.
“Why--doesn’t--h-he---want--m-me?” Her character said between sobs.
(Y/N) rolled her eyes and was so thankful when intermission arrived. She was the first out of her seat and waited outside the theater for her friends.
“Wow!” Sokka said as he exited the theater. “That play’s amazing. So accurate! Except, my guy could use a few pointers.”
“Accurate?” Katara scoffed, crossing her arms. “I beg to differ. My character is nothing like me.”
“Sure,” Toph snorted.
“I agree with Katara,” (Y/N) said, her face contorted into a frown. “I’m not anything like that character.”
“Are you sure about that?” Toph asked with a smirk. (Y/N) punched her in the arm, her face turning red as she glanced at Zuko. He gave her a small smile.
The play was all lies and she knew that. It took the most exciting parts of their adventures and amplified them for the stage. She knew she didn’t cry that much and she certainly had never called Zuko her one true love. Not out loud, at least.

You spent your entire free period up on that roof, hoping by some miracle that you weren’t crazy, that the group of second-year students that had seemingly vanished before your eyes were in fact pranking you, and upon seeing that you weren’t amused, would get tired of hiding and pop out, finishing the surprise. No such luck, however, and so you left, the second-period bell forcing your hand. Spending the first period of your day - a bit of free time meant for studying, finishing homework, or otherwise enriching yourself educationally - up on the roof and unaccounted for by any teachers was a bit risky already, and you were a decent enough student. There was no way you could just sit there all day, skipping the rest of your classes. Sighing, you resolved to just give up the hunt for your destined main character and by extension the group of potential new friends.
Often after school, you headed to the library, which stayed open along with a select few other areas of Shujin for student use after the last bell rang. Today, however, you felt drawn back to that place, back to that rooftop where you’d seen Akira, Ryuji, and Ann disappear hours earlier. It just wasn’t sitting right with you; you felt a stirring in your soul, like a tiny voice in your head, a shimmering blue butterfly in your stomach. Lucky for you, the rooftop was also open, though you’d never really spent time there. Certain students, including another third-year you admired raised plants up there where the sun could reach them, while others simply came up there for the view or the breeze, some private space to study.
Today, the breeze was indeed blowing, and you sat there writing as it whistled past your ears, polishing up some plot points, scrawling down ideas for your protagonist straight from the imagination, since it seemed you wouldn’t be finding any real-life inspiration anytime soon. It was frustrating, writer’s block, and for the past month or so, it’s all you could do to write a single paragraph. You always found yourself lost in the pages of the novels you loved, and you could identify great writing, appreciate the artistry of another writer, but it was sometimes so hard to put your own thoughts down on the pages of your journal. Why was it so hard? You knew what real romance was. You knew which themes and cliches were overdone and unrealistic. You had a mature and healthy outlook on real relationships and could pick apart the stereotypical female protagonist who was strong and independent until she met the man who would break down her walls or the toxic bad boy who women loved on paper but would cry their eyes out over in real life. You’d read thousands of books and fan-fiction, listened to hundreds of audiobooks, watched tons of romance movies, so why, lately, was it not clicking?! Where was the disconnect between having thoughts and transcribing said thoughts down into your very own masterpiece? Fantasy came so easily to you, sci-fi, non-fiction essays for class, mysteries, research papers, but romance, the genre you loved the most, seemed to purposely elude you.
You were shaken out of your frazzled state when something caught your attention out of the corner of your eye. Shaking your head a bit to try and focus your vision, you looked over your shoulder to see that the black spot on the fringe of your blind spot was in fact actually there. You rubbed your eyes just to be sure, but there it was, a wavering black inky spot hovering in the air. Another appeared, then another, now red in color. You were beginning to feel insane for the second time that day, but rather safe than sorry, you quickly stood, shoving your work and pencils into your bag and shuffling away from the blobs, which were now oscillating and dancing around each other, phasing in and out of existence like a fisheye lens. This was a bit too freaky for your liking, and you were beginning to feel a frightening chill up your spine. The hairs on the back of your neck stood up, and you elected to put some kind of barrier of safety between yourself and the floating bubbles. Like any rational person, your mind was screaming “unknown situation: possible threat: run!” but again, that little butterfly in the pit of your guts was saying there was something worth staying for. So, running to the door to the roof, you swung it open, a ringing in your ear starting to buzz and chime. You closed it frantically, pressing your nose up against the small glass windows that allowed a limited view of the roof. A small gasp escaped your lips, and you instinctively grabbed onto your bag a bit tighter.
The red and black splotches began to dissipate and fade like some kind of glitch in reality, and three figures appeared like mist, like ghosts before beginning to solidify and slowly become tangible silhouettes. Then, as if some kind of magic ritual was coming to a close, the figures poofed into existence, and your brain processed the scene before you.
“Holy shit…” you whispered. There, clear as day were Sakamoto, Takamaki, and the new kid. They were just standing adjusting their clothes, stretching their arms and legs, situating their personal items. It was just then that you saw a little furry head poke up out of Akira’s school bag. Your harsh, analytical gaze softened a bit upon seeing the small black cat that appeared. Had he been carrying that cat around all day? Surely not, right? How would he keep it quiet and still? “What the…?” The inquisitive glare returned to your features when they began… speaking to the cat. It wasn’t the cute baby talk people often use with their pets, either. It was a full-on, serious conversation, and the cat was meowing back, clearly, in response to their statements.
It was a bit muffled by the thick door, but you could make out bits and pieces.
 Metaverse? Palace. Shadows... treasure? Kamoshida? Great, that asshole, but what could he have to do with this? What even was this?
You were questioning everything you knew. You were wondering if the juice you had this morning at breakfast was spiked. There was no winning in this scenario, either you were crazy, or these kids were. You looked downward, contemplating your navel as your mind tried to make sense of the events of today. You glanced up again, trying to eavesdrop a little better, get some more detail. You took a step closer, trying to will the sound of their voices through the door to be just a little louder, just a little clearer, when Sakamoto suddenly pivoted, stretching and cracking his spine with a sigh.
“Gah!”  You shouted out. His eyes met yours through the window and widened like a kid caught in the cookie jar. You jumped with a start, taking a cautionary step back and nearly tumbling down the stairs. It was a miracle you caught yourself in time, but your little outburst had definitely caught the attention of the group. Your cover was thoroughly blown. “Oh, no…” You cursed under your breath, spotting both Ann and Akira’s eyes on you now as well.
“Shit! Do you think they saw?” Ryuji’s hands flew to his hair, mussing and working out his frustrations on the dyed strands while simultaneously, Akira was already in motion, rushing toward the door to apprehend the unwelcome listener.
Your heartbeat sped up, and like a gazelle spotted by a lion, a fire was lit under you and you began to sprint, clumsily fumbling down the stairwell and onto the flat platform where the stairs rotated 90 degrees and continued downward. Inhaling sharply, your foot, nervous and supporting jelly-like legs, missed the final step. Your belongings, along with your body, spilled across the square, flat platform, and the door behind you slammed open.
“Hey!” Akira’s yell echoed through the stairwell, and your thoughts bounced off the walls just like his voice. Scrambling, you scooped only the essentials into your hands: your journal, the phone of course, a few homework binders, ditching the easily replaceable items like chewing gum and pencils. Taking to one scraped-up knee and ready to bolt, you felt a hand close upon your bicep and clamp down firmly. “Hey, hey… slow down.” Akira again, now gentler with his tone, spun you around to face him. You stood clutching your things to your chest like a life preserver. “I’m not gonna like… kill you or anything.” A breathy chuckle, and now he was on the platform next to you, scanning you up and down for injuries with his hands in his pockets. “So, uh… so don’t kill yourself by fallin’ down these stairs, huh?” He played off the tense feeling in the air with humor, but the sheer proximity of him, standing there in front of you mere inches away in the cramped space, it was like you could hear your blood pounding in your ears.
What was he thinking right now? Did he think you were some weirdo stalker? I mean, you’d just met him this morning and now you were watching him through a small window like a creep after school… after following him there. Wait, that wasn’t important right now! Was he going to kill you? He didn’t seem like the type of guy to do that, but then again, he didn’t seem like the type to phase in and out of existence either… neither did Ryuji and Ann… what were people with powers like that capable of?
Right now, you were just going to mind your business, and play it safe. It wasn’t worth getting mixed up with people who warp through a “metaverse” and talk to animals just for some good writing material, not if it turned out to be dangerous.
“Well…” you hesitated, “it’s none of my business, what I just saw, and I won’t tell anyone.” You breathed a little easier, tried to regain your composure, to not look too weak.
“So they did see! Awww, shit!” Ryuji’s head popped through the door, interrupting the uncomfortable conversation, and the hot air of the enclosed space was cut through by a gust of wind from the now open rooftop door.
“Now, just hold on, Ryuji,” Akira held out one hand to placate his rather temperamental friend.
“No, no really it’s fine that you talk to your… cat and just… vanish... and I’m sure it’s all fine and multiverse-y and…”
“Metaverse.” Akira corrected you with a small smile, bending down to pick up the rest of your scattered objects.
“Dude!” Ryuji ran a hand down his face in defeat.
“They saw us, no point in being tight-lipped,” he stood, handing them to you.
“Metaverse… right,” you took them, watching every move he made carefully. “Sorry, I’m… a bit more... eloquent in my writing,” you moved to the side, ready to sneak past and descend the rest of the stairs. Anything to get on with your day and escape this unbelievable situation. Akira shuffled, mirroring you and completely blocking the stairwell. There was something clever about him, something sharp and charismatic. He knew exactly what he was doing, what he wanted to achieve, and he knew how to calmly and smoothly execute his plans, unlike Sakamoto, who was far less… organized.
“Writing…?” He was keeping you locked into this conversation, as gently and amiably as he could, and you were not leaving until he was sure he could trust your word.
“Uh… yeah, that’s why I was up…” your eyes met his, quickly recoiling and looking toward the floor again, “...up on the roof. I was just looking for a quiet place to write.”
“What, uh, what kind of stuff do you write?” Ann had now joined Ryuji at the top of the stairs, leaving you feeling completely caged in. Ann threw Akira - who seemed like the leader of the small band of misfits - a desperate glance, a sort of look that seemed to ask: “Where are you going with this? Are we screwed?”
“It’s… it’s kind of private. It’s just… romance stuff. I don’t know, I do all kinds of different stuff, whatever I’m in the mood for.” Akira nodded, more to his friends than you, something you had a feeling you weren’t supposed to pick up on. He stuck his hand out flat, gesturing toward the rooftop behind you. You took the hint, heading a bit anxiously back up the stairs, Ryuji and Ann making way for you.
“You any good?” Akira followed behind you, and now on the rooftop once again, the cool air felt freeing, less constricting, though his question felt a bit insulting, a bit nosey.
“I don’t know… I’ve been told I am…” The three friends took a seat in areas that seemed very familiar to them, like they’d been up here warping in and out of this realm many times before. Now settled into place, Ann spoke up, obviously as apprehensive as you were:
“Well do you… do you think…?” Her high-pitched voice seemed to be hesitant, not yet confident in her next words, not sure if they were all on the same page.
“Yeah, my thoughts exactly,” Akira smirked as if the three had one mind. He turned to you, trying to make eye contact that you vehemently avoided. “How would you feel about helping us out?”

Hurtful Truth: Sometimes no matter how long you have loved them, if they don’t want to stay, they wouldn’t stay.
Part 1 ⇛ Pt. 2
─── ・ ゚☆: *. GRAND MASTERLIST .* :☆゚. ───
Tumblr media
Your eyes focused on the television in front of you, the screen was the only thing that lit the dark room you were in right now. You felt safe as you laid there on the couch with huge amounts of blankets wrapped around your figure.
It calmed you down and made you forget about everything that happened in your life recently.
You didn’t bother to check your phone, knowing for certain who’s name would pop out on your notifications. You really didn’t need a reminder that someone just broke you into a million little pieces.
To be loved was something that not every human being could feel. You knew that, and the fact you actually believed that someone would love you was one thing that you would regret as you wake up every morning.
And you fall to the mirage, for the past ten years in your life.
You and him always belonged in each other's side, everyone that saw the two of you could even see how the future would unfold perfectly. They always said that you and him would end up in marriage,
And tragically, you believed in every word that they said, since it boosted your confidence that someone like you could actually have someone as majestic as him to be your significant other.
The Miya Osamu, one of the most successful entrepreneurs below thirty three, the one person that had your heart since you were sixteen,
And the one who broke your trust.
It was Saturday night, both of you were laying together on the couch in your shared house. The house that used to be empty, a house that was so cheap that the two of you could afford right after graduating from college.
But little by little, the house turned into a safe haven, renovated with all the contemporary detail as the two of you poured your blood and sweat into this house,
A house that has now become a home, the place that made the two of you believe everything would be alright. Just the two of you together, and maybe someday, filled with another little Miya.
His arms wrapped loosely around your figure while you rested your head on top of his chest. He would occasionally caress your hair gently, and you would close your eyes to feel all of his affection.
It was your weekend break when the two of you soaked in each other’s warmth; the time when the two of you closed yourself from the universe, when everything just rotated around you and him.
The atmosphere that surrounded the two of you was so serene. Though, it all changed when he appeared on the television screen all of a sudden. Your eyes lit up immediately, realising that it was your fiancé who was now being interviewed on screen.
You sat up, straightening your posture as your body leaned towards the television. Proudness welled up inside your heart as you heard him answering questions after questions that were being thrown at him.
He always told you everything about Onigiri Miya. About all the events, all of his interviews, a new branch that he opened, even all the commercial plans. He did that, because he knew you would be so proud of him. Having someone that constantly praised you was addicting to him.
But what you didn’t notice as you were so excited to see him on the screen, was the horror on his face as he remembered the reason why he didn’t tell you about this interview.
“And how about you and your fiancée? Is the wedding bell around the corner?”
“Babe, this is embarrassing, let’s just change the channel.” He pleaded, but you were too focused on the television, your eyes never leave the screen as a wide grin plastered on your face, “Babe, please-”
“Unfortunately no, please don’t ask about my personal life.”
But then, your smile was replaced with a confused look as you heard his answer.
Your name was known as the woman behind the Onigiri Miya, the support system that everyone wanted to have in their life with how loyal you were towards the one that you loved. And as your fiancé, he always answered questions about you with pride lingering on his face.
So when you saw him averting his gaze to the corner while answering the question, you knew that something was up.
“Samu, has something happened?” You finally turned towards him, “Do you want to talk about it, love?” Your eyes locked onto his face, wondering why he stayed silent and just looked away from you, “You know that I am always up to talk about anything with you, right?”
Yet the reason behind his unusual answer was something that you could never prepare yourself for. You could feel your breath hitched once he met your gaze. His eyes were filled with sadness, orbs glistening with tears as he finally dared to look up at you.
Then just like that, he averted your gaze once again, and that’s when you knew that he was hiding something from you.
“Samu,” Your hand gently wrapped around his much larger hand; you could feel how the man was trembling. Your fiancé's skin felt as cold as ice compared to yours, “Love, what is it? Please look at me, I am worried for you, Samu.”
Your fiancé let out a sigh, squeezing your hand a little before pulling away from you. You eyed him as he stood up from the couch, eyes staring down at you with remorse evident on his face.
“I-I am sorry,” His voice trembled as he couldn’t look straight into your eyes anymore, “I did something. Something bad,” Tears were streaming down his face as he sobbed.
By that, you immediately stood up, wrapping your arms around him to give some comfort,
“Sshhh, Samu, it’s alright…” You didn’t know what was it about, but the only thing in your mind right now was to make sure he would be alright, “We can talk about it-”
“But that's the thing. We can’t!” Osamu suddenly snapped, pulling himself away from your embrace as he realised that he didn’t deserve any of your affection, “This is something that we cannot talk about, (Y/N).”
“Samu, you don’t know about that-”
“I'm cheating on you!”
And at those four words, you swore you could hear your heart break. You immediately took a step backwards as you wrapped your arms around your own body, feeling the temperature dropping.
You bit your lip, mind still trying to process the words. Cheating. That was something that you never thought someone like Miya Osamu would do. Hell, it was something that you never thought any of your family or friends would do, let alone your fiancé.
“W-with who?” You were always there for him, and you knew damn well no matter who it was, the answer would tear yourself apart. However, you needed to know. You needed to know what they had that you didn’t that could make him did this to you.
“(Y/N)-”
“With. Who.” Your eyes bored into his with a look that he couldn’t fathom as you hardened your voice, “I deserve to know the whole sto-”
“It’s Rintarou.” But you didn’t expect your brother’s name to be leaving your fiancé's lips. “We happened to meet up a lot when I planned the branch for Onigiri Miya in East Japan, I-”
“That was six months ago…” You muttered under your breath when the realisation hit you. Osamu could feel the lump in his throat as he still decided to either speak or stay silent.
Although just like what you said, you deserved to know the whole story.
“We have been meeting each other ever since.” He gulped down, his voice beginning to break, “Every week, when you are busy in your office.”
Never once in your life have you thought you would be in this position right now. Tears were streaming down your face as you looked up to the man that you sacrificed everything for.
“What kind of meeting?” Right now, your voice betrayed you as it cracked a little. “How far have two of you gone?” By the forlorn look on his face, it was enough for you to know, “For god sake, Samu!”
You chuckled bitterly, dazed by the fact you have been betrayed by the two most important people that you had in this life. Right now you couldn’t even think straight. The feelings you felt right now were all too much. All that you wanted at the moment was just to vanish.
Your fiancé walked up towards you, regret evident inside his beautiful orb, glistening with tears. Because he knew, he just broke one person who was always there for him from the start. The women who supported him through thick and thin. From when he was still nothing.
You were someone who was there when the spotlight was only rotated around his brother. You were there during every breakdown, every failed recipe, every declined partnership. You were always there for him, patiently supporting him through everything.
“I am sorry, (Y/N).” His voice wavered, both hands timidly extended towards you. Solicitude struck him to the core as he wanted to pull you into his embrace, but at the same time Osamu knew he had broken you beyond repair. “I didn’t mean to do it… It just happened.”
You snorted in between your tears when you heard his words. From all the movies and television series that you have watched together with him, you always heard the same sentence numerous times already. The words that popped out...
From the lips of the character who cheated.
“Having sex with someone- no. not just somone,” You coated your pain with a snarky remarks, trying to act tough in front of the man who broke your heart, “When you have sex with your fiancé's brother everytime she wasn't around can't be excused with 'it just happened', Samu.”
Osamu knew the second he captured someone else’s lips, he could never turn it back around. He just cheated on you, someone who didn’t deserve to be treated like this. You, who would leave everything behind if that means he could be happy.
Even if that means you would never have your own happy ending.
Cheating is a taboo relationship that was made by two people who agreed to get into it, and he understood that what he had with the professional volleyball player could never end up well. Yet he did it anyway, for the last six months. With your very own brother.
It was more like a neverending nightmare for you. To have someone that you gave your whole heart to, the same someone who you spent your whole early life with, only to stab you in the back.
Two people who broke your heart were the two people you trusted the most. And each one of them was someone who you held dear inside your heart.
The buzzing sounds from your phone brought you back to reality. You groaned because once again, you fell to the unwanted memories that you were trying so hard to forget.
To have the only relationship you ever had falling apart was something that you never prepared yourself to. Up until now, you never knew how it felt to get your heart broken. From all the fights that you had with Osamu, none of them could crack the strong bond that you two shared.
The bond that was now all broken when he decided to get in bed with your brother.
You unconsciously touched your face, feeling the warm tears cascading down your cheek as you wiped it all away with your sleeves. You hated yourself because you felt so blind believing in every word that people said about how you and Osamu would last forever.
Your hand reached for your phone, wondering who in the right mind would call you this late at night. There was no way it was your ex-fiancé, because he always gave you space and only called you in your free time.
You furrowed your eyebrows when you saw the name on the screen. It was Atsumu.
Every time you saw his name, your mind would only think about his twin brother instead; you cursed yourself for even thinking about Osamu all over again. Even when the said man just broke you apart.
Without thinking, you declined the call and decided to turn off your phone for tonight. Your eyes bore into the now black screen, looking out to the reflection of your face. There used to be a glimmer of joy and warmth, but now it was just a blank expression as it stared back into your soul.
“I am sorry,” You were so tired of hearing the same sentence over and over again. “I shouldn’t have been selfish.” Your brother was a man of silence, yet here he was right now in front of the new house you were staying in, repeating the words that he said over the phone since last week.
“There’s no need to say sorry, Rinrin.” You bit your lips, eyes never leaving the ground, “You love him, it’s not your fault to fall in love with… With the same man that I l-love.” You could see how he clenched his fist, and you knew that he felt guilty over it.
There were a lot of things inside his head at the moment as he stood in front of the woman that always had her faith in him. You were the best sister that anyone could even ask for, that one family who he wanted to live the happiest life because you deserved it all.
He felt like a hypocrite because he knew he was the one who took the happiness away from you.
“I broke it off with him,” He muttered under his breath, afraid to see your reaction from the news. Right now, the realisation that he just hurt you was more painful than the fact he just broke up with his lover.
He expected you to be angry at him, saying it doesn’t matter anyway because things already happened and he couldn’t change the past. Maybe you would even curse and punch him; he would be okay if that was your reaction.
Then again, he forgot that it was you who stood in front of him.
“Why?” Your voice was calm as you looked up at him, “Don’t you love Samu, Rinrin?” His breath hitched from the question. Today was supposed to be the day he finally faced you, apologizing for all the heartbreak he put you through. So why was focus suddenly thrown at him?
“I do,” He hesitated to answer that question at first, but he knew too well that you already knew what was inside his heart. Then his eyes widened as he saw a sincere smile plastered on your face.
“So don’t break it off,” You whispered the words so easily as you reached for his hand, “I-I know how much he loves you,” For now, you really hoped his feeling was real, “He is a loyal man, and he would never do such a thing if he wasn't really in love with you, Rinrin.”
Your hand felt so warm as your thumb grazed on the back of his hand. With that little gesture, your brother broke down in front of you, hiccuping from the immense guilt that brewed inside his heart.
“I am sorry, you don’t deserve this.” He sobbed, and you couldn’t help but bring his head to your embrace anyway, “I am sorry, I am sorry.”
People told you that you were too kind for your own good. You have been wrecked by them, torn apart by them. None of them deserves to be treated right, and society would not even be surprised if you wanted to cut everything off from them.
But you were not like that, you could never act like that.
“It’s alright, Rin…” Your hand fell on his hair, holding back your own tears as you realised what it would mean to let them together, “It will be alright,” They would, but not you. Not now, not in forever.
No matter how many times you tried to shake away all of the pain, you couldn’t just undo your love that you felt for Osamu as easily as you want to. Your feelings have been there since the first year of your high school days, it was always there, since your brother asked you to watch his game.
Since the two of you broke off the engagement-for an obvious reason-, you only saw him on the television. Sometimes you still look back at all the messages that he had sent for you; laughing over the joke, smiling from his sweet words, but ended up with tears as you remember there would be no more messages like that.
So you could only stare at the blank screen of your phone, the reflection showed how your eyes glistened with tears once more.
“Oh! That’s Miya Osamu!” You jerked your head back to the television, heart beats a lot faster by just the mention of his name, “Come on, make sure you got a good angle of him.”
You chuckled, a little smile adorned your face as you saw him looking as gorgeous as ever with a black suit wrapped around his torso. He was in some kind of red carpet gala, and of course, invited there as he was one of the most successful entrepreneurs of the century.
He received a lot of invitation, but he would usually turn it down if you couldn’t be his plus one due to how busy you are with your own business sometimes. So when you realised what does it mean for him to be there, you dropped your phone to the ground,
Right when your brother appeared on the screen.
“You look so good tonight, Osamu!”
“Thank you, I couldn’t do it without his help.”
You thought you were ready to see them on the same frame. Their eyes glimmered with something that the camera could even catch,
“The two of you looked so good together, I am jealous!”
“Really? I guess we do, huh?”
From the look on his face, you knew that Miya Osamu really fall in love with the man in his arm,
“Is the wedding bell around the corner?”
It was the same question, the same question that he received a year ago at the night he confessed what he did to you,
“Yeah,”
But the answer was so different, nothing like the time when he was still yours.
“The wedding bell is around the corner for sure.”
He kissed the man beside him, a loving smile adorned his face as your brother chuckled with blush spread around his cheek.
It used to be you, to be in his embrace as he showed the world how much he loves you. It used to be you, to be the one who received his kiss and affection. It used to be you, who wore the match engagement ring with him.
Sometimes you wonder what would happen if you never gave them permission to be together. You wonder if any of you still get hurt, or maybe by time all of the broken trust would be healed, and the three of you would have a beautiful future with someone else.
Your friends told you to walk away from your past, telling you that your ex fiance and your brother didn’t deserve to be together, since both of them stabbed you from behind.
For six months, without you knowing. For six months, as you laid in his embrace with his heart belonged to someone else. For six months, you kissed the lips that had captured another.
Then again, you love them, a little bit too much that even though they were the one who took away the smile from your face, you couldn’t just let them suffer. Either from guilt, or from the heartbreak that would haunt them.
You knew how it felt since he decided to love someone else other than you, you were damn knew how it felt to love someone, but couldn’t have them anymore,
So who are you to stop two people in love from being together?

The Winter Soldier (Chapter Three)
Tumblr media
Summary: Steve drops by the VA and listens in on one of Sam’s meetings and later that evening, (Y/N) reflects on her unusual day with the super-soldier.
Pairing: Steve Rogers X Reader
Word Count: 1.5k
Warnings/Disclaimers: Brief discussion of PTSD
A/N: Hope you all enjoy!
Chapter Three (Previous Chapter)
After placing sugar packets and stirring sticks next to the coffee maker, (Y/N) took a seat beside the refreshment table and watched as Sam took his place at the front of the crowded room and began the meeting. One by one, each person would share their struggles with PTSD and how it had affected their lives as civilians; with each person’s story, (Y/N)’s heart clenched in sympathy. These vets have put their lives on the line to protect us, they don’t deserve to suffer, she thought with an inward sigh. She couldn’t count the number of times she’d woken Sam up from a nightmare or had seen him suddenly grow silent and have to distract him from his memories of war. But it was wonderful that people like Sam, people who face the same exact struggles, run programs to help each other out.
Seeing movement out of the corner of her eye, (Y/N) turned to see Steve Rogers leaning against the doorframe of the room, his arms crossed over his chest as he listened to the meeting. Smiling and tugging her sweater tighter around her, (Y/N) turned her attention back to the woman speaking. “The thing is I think it’s getting worse. A cop pulled me over last week, he thought I was drunk. I swerved to miss a plastic bag. I thought it was an IED.”
Sam nodded. “Some stuff you leave there, other stuff you bring back. It’s our job to figure out how to carry it. Is it gonna be in a big suitcase or in a little man-purse? It’s up to you.” Everyone clapped and began standing, so (Y/N) jumped to her feet to man the table. She greeted each person with a smile as they grabbed cookies and filled their cups with coffee, delighted to see so many new faces among the usual crowd. After about twenty minutes of mingling and making small talk, the crowd started to leave so she decided to begin packing up the refreshments as Sam bid them goodbye out in the hallway.
“Don’t take those away those cookies just yet, darlin’, I wanna bring one home to my gran’daughter.”
(Y/N) looked up to see Gary, an older man with an incredibly bushy grey beard and a Vietnam War veteran’s baseball cap, and she smiled brightly before offering him the half-full container. “Take the whole thing if you’d like, Gary, and be sure to say hello to Katie for me!”
That made Gary grin toothily as he took the container. “You know, darlin’, you’re sweeter than this whole damn box of cookies. I’ll be seein’ you next week!” (Y/N) gave him a small wave and resumed cleaning as he limped away.
“You’re pretty popular around here.”
She turned away from the coffee pot and smiled when she saw Steve standing before her, his blue eyes glimmering and his hands shoved in his pockets. “If I am, it’s only ‘cause I give away free cookies; the vets that visit all have a massive sweet-tooth, you know.”
“Are you a vet, too?”
“Nah, I just work here.” She tossed several used paper coffee cups into the trash and chuckled. “A year ago, when I finally graduated with my master’s degree, I started writing my novel and since I was writing about soldiers and government agents I needed to interview some about their personal experiences. So, I decided to come down to the VA. I met with Sam, who had just started working here, and asked if I could interview some people for my writing. He agreed, and I spent the whole day just talking to the vets. All sorts of vets, too; men, women, old, young, you name it. And at the end of the day, after hearing about their struggles with PTSD and how hard their lives became once they returned to civilian life, I went back to Sam and asked if he needed any part-time employees. He said yes, and we’ve been best friends ever since.” Steve smiled, and the impressed look he was giving her caused her to blush so she hurriedly changed the subject. “So, did everything work out earlier? It’s just that it seemed a little serious, so I hope that everything’s okay.”
Steve’s smile fell a little but he nodded. “Yeah, everything’s fine…I was just visiting a friend who hasn’t been doing too well lately.”
(Y/N) impulsively placed a comforting hand on his arm. “I’m sorry, that sounds difficult. I hope they get better soon.” The ghost of a sympathetic smile pulled at the corner of her mouth and Steve’s eyes softened after a moment; realizing that her hand was still resting on his arm, she hastily withdrew it and began folding the tablecloth to keep her hands busy. “Um, Sam and I were planning on going out to dinner after we finish packing up, you’re welcome to join us if you want.”
She glanced up at him and saw a glint of something in his eyes, but it disappeared before she could get a closer look. “Thanks for the offer but I’ll have to pass; I’ve already got some plans later…”
“That’s okay, maybe next time!” (Y/N) smiled, but inside she couldn’t help but feel a pang of disappointment.
Just then, Sam walked into the room with a stack of pamphlets in his hands. “Pretty good turnout today, huh? Five new faces and Captain America!”
Steve chuckled. “Well, I’m glad that I stopped by.” He glanced at the clock on the wall before continuing, “I should probably get going, but it was good to see you two again.”
(Y/N) shook his hand. “I’m not gonna lie, it was a little weird seeing you in your own exhibit earlier but it was great hanging out with you!”
“You too, and good luck with For Queen and Country, I’ll keep my eye out for it in the bookshops.” His bright smile caused her heartbeat to once-again quicken as their hands dropped.
“It was good seeing you too, Cap, you made me look really awesome in front of Maria, so thanks for that.” Sam grinned and shook his outstretched hand.
“Glad I could help, Sam; see you two around!” Steve gave them a small wave before turning and walking out of the room.
Tearing her eyes away from the doorway, (Y/N) resumed her cleaning and glanced at Sam. “What do you feel like tonight, Thai or burgers?”
Sam grinned and began unplugging the coffee maker. “Burgers. So, did you have a nice day chilling with your new boyfriend, Booksmart?”
“Sam…”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Later that evening, (Y/N) sat down at her desk and put her music on shuffle before flicking through her notebook to the pages of notes she’d taken that day at the Smithsonian. She bit back a smile when she recognized the difference between the carefully printed notes she’d taken by herself versus the illegible scribbles taken from the elderly security guard’s long-winded explanations. He was kind of a fast talker, wasn’t he, she thought to herself; as a way of honoring the enthusiastic old man, she ultimately decided to name one of her minor characters after him.
“Stan.” She sounded out the name and gave a satisfied nod. “Yeah, that’s got a nice ring to it…”
(Y/N), now finally having all the information she needed to best describe Soviet Cold War missiles, wrote for nearly three hours straight, only taking breaks to skip songs or to glance down at her notes. She would’ve probably continued writing well into the next morning except that her eyesight was beginning to blur around the edges, an unfortunate symptom of exhaustion.
Well, you have had a pretty busy day today, (Y/N) silently reasoned as she saved her evening’s progress and booted down her laptop. Since Sam was already fast asleep in the room across the hall, she went about her bedtime routine as quietly as she could, washing her face and brushing her teeth before tiptoeing back into her room. She slipped on her mismatched pajama set and was about to crawl into bed when the record player on her bedside table caught her eye. Making her way over to what Sam affectionately called ‘The DJ Bookcase,’ she scanned the shelf devoted solely to her record collection until the right one stood out to her, and then she carefully placed the record on the turntable and lowered the needle. After a moment, the soft tones of Glenn Miller’s ‘Stardust’ filled her room and with a smile, she finally got into bed and turned to watch the record spinning on the turntable.
Thoughts of the super-soldier who’d inspired her choice in bedtime music began to fill her mind, making her smile softly to herself. (Y/N) had enjoyed seeing Steve again, even if it had been in a highly unconventional place like the Smithsonian, and she quietly marveled at how effortless it had been to talk to the larger-than-life man. He really was different from how the history books portrayed him: not only was he kind and polite, but he was also intelligent, sarcastic and extremely understanding. Also a little lost, I expect, (Y/N) thought, remembering his guarded expressions and withdrawn replies whenever she’d ask him a personal question; it couldn’t be easy adjusting to a brand-new reality, especially without a fixed support system to rely on.
“Hopefully he ends up getting the help he needs.” (Y/N) murmured to herself, her sleepy eyes continuing to watch the rotating record as more thoughts of Steve Rogers filled her mind.
“You’re what?” Shiva’s eyes widened as they stared back at you. “You’re going to have to repeat yourself because I hope I heard you wrong.”
“I’m going back to Lykaois and I need those pamphlets you showed me before.” You said, shuffling through the stack of detritus on the floor of their room. “Where are they?”
Shiva’s hands went to their hips, “Why are you going back?”
You let out a frustrated sound, relocating a pile of clothing. “Shiva, please. Where are those pamphlets?”
“I gave them back to the contract counter. I nabbed them after I thought you weren’t coming back from my mission.”
“Kriff. I needed them.” You gritted out, pushing yourself back onto your feet. “Alright, I’ll just go down in the morning and see if I can get them scanned into my datapad before I leave.”
Shiva grabbed your arm as you started to breeze past them, “What’s up with you? You dropped out of the program, you skipped a harvest, and now you’re obsessing vover a godsforsaken deathtrap moon. What happened to you?”
“I met someone.” You admitted, shaking out of their grip as you lowered your gaze.
“And they’re forcing you to mine lunaxium? What’s going on here? I’ll kill them.”
“It’s not like that,” You held up your hands. “Please don’t judge me.”
“I already am.”
“I could tell.” You countered dryly, folding your arms across your chest. “Before I tell you this, just understand that I understand the risks associated with this. I met someone on Lykaois.”
“Have you lost your Grioskii mind?”
“There is no reason to bring Grioskii into this.” You tried, though Shiva wasn’t laughing. “Look, I know it might sound crazy—“
“Is it one of those monsters?”
“Yes, but—“
“You’ve lost your mind.” Shiva laughed bitterly, “I’ve seen you get yourself into a lot of foolish situations, but this tops all of them. It’s a monster. You know, there’s a reason you’re armed with silverline ammo when you take that mission.”
“You told me it was a myth!”
“I thought it was bullshit until I thought you were going to die on that hellscape of a moon. That planet is dangerous. You’re not going back.”
You took a step back, “Can I just explain the situation to you? Like two rational people.”
Shiva narrowed their eyes at you, “You have three sentences.”
“For fuck’s sake.”
“Two.”
“Shiva.”
“One.”
“I think I could really care for him.”
“Are you kidding me?” They shook their head slowly, “I always knew you had bad taste in lovers, but this…” Shiva took a step towards you, “Do you remember what you told me after Mars?”
“Ezra is not Mars.”
“No, you’re right. Mars was just a jackass, this Ezra character is an actual monster.” Shiva encroached further on your space. “I’m sorry.”
You blinked back at Shiva, “What?”
Instead of answering you they drove their stun shaft into your thigh — and stars burst behind your eyes.
Tumblr media
Your head was throbbing as consciousness started to return to you. Slowly, at first, and then all at once the light shining on you from above was too much. You rolled onto your left side and puked over the side of the cot.
“Shiva!” You yelled, wiping your mouth off with the back of your hand. “You stunned me!”
“For your own good,” Shiva said as they strolled into the cabin, hands tucked behind their back. “Do you want a drink?”
“Come closer, I need to puke again and your shoes look like the perfect place.” You seethed, grabbing at your head. There was nothing worse than getting stunned — nausea, headache, tingling through all of your extremities.
“Where do you think you’re going?” Shiva questioned as you started to get up.
“To Lykaois.”
“I don’t think so.”
Your heart sank when you realized the familiar hum of a hyperspace drive, the rattling of the durasteel grates beneath your feet. “What did you do?”
“You’ve been tied down on the Block for too long. We’re going to take a little trip to your favorite hospitable planet.”
“Shiva, I promised Ezra I would be back.” You grimaced as you felt another rush of bile rising up your throat.
Shiva handed you a trash bin, waiting until you were done retching before responding to you, “Well, you’re going to break that promise. A couple days on Ay-7 and you’ll forget all about your monster-boyfriend.”
You groaned and you weren’t certain the new wave of nausea was because of the stun shaft.
What would Ezra think if you didn’t turn up? He’d tried to convince you not to come back. Maybe he’d just assume that you had finally listened to him. That would be something, wouldn’t it? Because you hadn’t listened to him yet.
“Shiva, I don’t think you understand.” You rubbed at your aching head. “This isn’t like Mars or even Alia. This isn’t me falling too hard for someone who is going to hurt me.”
They gave you a skeptical look, “And after Mars, you told me if you ever acted that stupid again, I needed to take you to Ay-7.”
“I would love to have this conversation when my stomach wasn’t roiling.” You complained, closing your eyes as you prayed for your stomach to settle. “Look, Shiva… I know I’ve had a really bad track record with my dalliances. Alia used me, Mars used me… but Ezra isn’t.”
“No?”
You shook your head, “No, if anyone is using someone, I’m using him.” You admitted as you rubbed at your forehead. “He can’t even leave Lykaois. Ever.”
“Then you should shake off whatever this is.” Shiva wagged a finger at you. “It’s a deadend situation. Mostly dead for you if you keep playing with a monster.”
“You don’t understand.”
“No, I probably don’t.” Shiva narrowed their eyes at you. “But I don’t think you do either.”
“Just take me back, Shiva. I don’t need you trying to keep me from doing something stupid.” You managed to rise to your feet. “Come on, I promised that I would bring him back new clothes. That’s how insidious this arrangement is. Clothes.” You laughed bitterly, “And I practically forced him into accepting that I was bringing him new clothes.”
“He’s a monster. What does he need clothing for?”
“Because he’s not a monster.” You snapped. “We sit around and we read poetry and talk about the places we’ve been. He was just like you and me before he was attacked. He’s a good man.”
“You’re not going this month.” Shiva didn’t budge — they were as stubborn as you were. “We’re going to Ay-7.”
“Fine.”
You wished there was some way to tell Ezra to hold on another month. You’d come back to him — you weren’t breaking your promise.
Tumblr media
Ay-7 was a den of iniquities that had been turned into a city. Anything you could possibly want you could find it there: black market goods, illicit affairs, high stakes gambling, and the finest dusts an addict could find.
Shiva had dragged you there more than once to get you to forget whatever situation you had gotten yourself into. But Ezra wasn’t a situation and he wasn’t someone you could just forget.
“I’m visiting the B,” Shiva told you, raising their voice over the pulsing beat of the music. “Don’t try hotwire my ship while I’m gone.”
You rolled your eyes, taking a drink of your polish, “Wouldn’t think of it.”
“Try to have fun.” They patted your back, before vanishing into the fold of moving bodies as patrons danced and drank and enjoyed their night.
Ezra probably wouldn’t miss you for a couple of days. He’d still be dealing with the effects of the change today and tomorrow. But then he’d notice.
You had let a lot of people down in your life. That was the nature of the beast — you fucked people over and you moved on. But you hadn’t wanted Ezra to be one of those people. It wasn’t like you had any choice in the matter.
Shiva was lucky you weren’t feeling murderous.
“Well look who it is.”
Kevva preserve me.
You downed your polish and rotated in your seat, “Quinn. Lovely to see you.” You put on a blustery tone as you eyed the man.
“It’s been quite some time since I last caught you here.” Quinn leaned heavily on the bar beside you, ordering a drink for himself. “What have you gotten yourself into this time?”
“None of your business, Quinn.” You rolled your eyes, ordering yourself another drink.
Quinn chuckled, nudging you in the ribs. “Is that how it’s gonna be this time?” He arched a brow. “I can play.”
“Quinn, I would rather gouge out my—“ You stopped yourself mid-sentence. “Do you have any plans tomorrow?”
“Might be presumptuous, but I was hoping I might be waking up beside you.”
You groaned, but you couldn’t exactly be picky right now. “Play your cards right and maybe you will be.” You quipped, resting your hand on his arm. “Can you take me back to the Block?”
Quinn narrowed his eyes, “Why?”
“Because I need to catch a ride and Shiva’s being an ass.” You told him bluntly. “I have somewhere I need to be and you might be my only hope.”
“What’s in it for me?” Quinn drummed his fingers against the top of the bar.
You bit down on the inside of your bottom lip, staring back at him. This wasn’t what you wanted, but you didn’t really have a choice. Did you? Shiva had taken that away.
You could wait another cycle. But you didn’t want to.
“Well,” Quinn leaned towards. “What’s in it for me, pretty girl?”
“Take me to the Block tonight and we can do whatever you want to, Quinn.” You told him. “Just get me out of here.”
Quinn downed his drink before dramatically offering you his hand, “Step aboard. I’ll take you wherever you want to go.”
“Just the Block.” You told him, downing your own drink and tipping the bartender before taking his hand.
“I don’t remember datapad privileges as part of our arrangement.” Quinn remarked as he strolled into his quarters with his arms folded across his chest.
You glanced up at him, readjusting the blankets you had wrapped around your chest. “You should know me better than that.”
“Fair point.” Quinn chuckled as he approached the bunk. “What are you reading?” He questioned, sitting down on the bed beside you.
“You’re cracked into the net and I wanted to look up something.” You explained, glancing back down at the datapad you had propped up on your lap.
Quinn leaned towards you to look at the screen, “Who is he?”
You smiled sadly at the little ID photo of Ezra on the screen. It had been taken a little over five years ago, before Lykaois. He wore the same crooked smirk you’d come to know, but he lacked that uneasy darkness you’d also become familiar with.
“Ezra.” You told him.
“Is that who you’re trying to get to?” Quinn questioned.
“Yeah.” You nodded, sliding your thumb over the screen, scrolling through all of the voyages Ezra had taken. He’d lost a lot of partners on his missions — a lot. “Shiva doesn’t approve.”
“When’s that ever stopped you?” Quinn chuckled, sucking his teeth before tilting his head to look at you. “You in love with him?”
“I haven’t known him very long,” You rubbed at the back of your neck awkwardly. “It’s complicated.”
“Must be if you’re going on the net to find out about him.”
“I actually promised myself that I wouldn’t.” You shrugged. “But I just wanted to know.”
Quinn snatched the datapad out of your lap, “Let’s see what he’s been up to—“
“Wait.”
He squinted at the screen, before looking towards you slowly. “He’s got a D file.”
“I know.”
“For five years.”
You swallowed thickly, “He’s not dead.”
“Who’d he piss off to go into hiding?”
You grimaced, “Like I said, it’s complicated.”
Quinn tossed the datapad back on the bed beside you as he stood back up, “Get dressed, we’re almost to the Block.”
“Tell Shiva I’m sorry.”
“I’m not getting in the middle of that.”
You glared at him, “I think you owe me that much.”
Quinn shot you a look, “Pretty sure I was just supposed to get you to the Block.” You fixed him with a look right back and he wilted, “I’ll send Shiva your message.”
Tumblr media
It wasn’t the first time you had slept with Quinn, but this time there was no amount of hot steam in your fresher that could burn off the time you spent with him. Sometimes, you had to do things you didn’t want to do — just to get by.
And if Shiva hadn’t dragged you to Ay-7, you wouldn’t have had to. Three months ago, it wouldn’t have mattered to you either. At all. But you hadn’t been able to stop thinking of Ezra.
What would he think if you didn’t make it to him in time? What would he think when you told him how you’d managed to get yourself back to him?
You weren’t going to let it get under your skin. Shit happens all the time and you couldn’t always have control over it. This — you had control over. It was a means to an end.
You hadn’t expected there to be snow on the ground when you landed on Lykaois. It wasn’t much, but it was more than you’d ever seen all in one place before. Maybe an inch. Just enough to leave footprints.
And there were footprints. Giant footprints, all around the clearing where you always landed your transport.
One set of prints, emerging from forest and heading into the clearing, before vanishing back into the treeline. Like something had come looking for you.
Like Ezra had come looking for you.
Rationally, you knew there were other werewolves on the moon, but you wanted it to be him.
If Ezra came looking for you as the beast, it somehow made up for the fact that you’d had to get creative to make it back to him in time.
But it didn’t explain why he was changing outside of the full moon. Was he starting to lose control of his humanity? Would every trip grow shorter and shorter until you showed up to find him—
“You came back.”
Your heart skipped a beat as you turned around and found him standing there. His expression was almost unreadable as his eyes flickered over your face.
“I tried to come sooner.” You admitted, taking a step towards him. “Life got in the way.”
Ezra nodded slowly, his shoulders finally relaxing as you stopped in front of him. “I didn’t think you’d make it this time.”
You only had a handful of days of before Ezra would be pressuring you to leave — just in case the window of opportunity was narrowing. And given the footprints in the freshly fallen snow…
“You’re cold.” Ezra pointed out as you shivered, reaching out to run his hand down the length of your arm. “Let’s get you back inside, little lamb.”
He followed you into your transport, trailing close enough behind you that you could feel his body head radiating from him.
“If I had known that I would be returning during the winter, I would’ve brought you warmer clothes,” You explained as you tinkered with the ship’s heating system, setting it to a comfortable temperature.
“I’m thankful for whatever you’ve brought me,” Ezra told you, “You could’ve just brought yourself and that would’ve been enough.”
You glanced over your shoulder at him with a smile, “I’ll remember that for next time.” You teased lightly, adjusting the ship’s engine exhaust into the central air system for processing. “How was the full moon?”
“I found the others,” Ezra told you, tucking his hands into his pockets. “I ran with them for the first time in years.”
“That’s good. Right?” You smiled at him, shifting your weight from foot to foot.
He nodded, “I was able to talk with them about what to expect.”
Your smile faded, “What to expect?”
“It will get more difficult for me to control my transformations,” Ezra explained to you, rubbing his lips together. “Which we already know.”
“I saw the footprints.”
Ezra swallowed thickly, “I didn’t think you were coming.”
“I almost didn’t,” You admitted, pinching at the bridge of your nose as you tried to figure out how you were going to tell him everything. “It’s quite the story.” You told him, holding out your hand, “Let’s go sit.”
Ezra reached out and took your hand, his thumb rubbing the center of your palm as his fingers curled around yours.
Instead of guiding him back into your quarters, you led him into the small commons area where you had first brought him inside your world. You still couldn’t look at your little makeshift sofa without thinking of Ezra.
“I had every intention of being here on the first day,” You sighed as you sank down onto the sofa beside him. Ezra wrapped his arm around your shoulders, his fingers fanning out over your arm, heating your skin through the fabric of your reg shirt. “The night before I was set to leave my friend — you remember, Shiva — decided to kidnap me.”
“Kidnap you?” Ezra chuckled, sliding his fingers down the length of your arm as he listened to you.
“I was trying to track down the information they had about Lykaois. I would’ve done it sooner, but Shiva had been off the Block. I tried to explain the situation to them, but…”
Ezra pressed his lips to the top of your head as you sank into his side. It was so natural to just be with him. It was nice.
“I’ve made enough stupid choices in my life that Shiva just assumed this was another one,” You tilted your head to look at him. “It’s not.”
He chuckled, “It might be.”
“It’s not.” You assured him, lifting your hand to cup his cheek, rubbing your thumb over his scruff. “But Shiva didn’t know any better. They stunned me and flew me halfway across the system.”
Ezra’s eyes widened, “What?”
You laughed, “I do not recommend getting stunned.”
“No, I wouldn’t either.” He gave you a look. “Are you alright?”
“We’re getting to that,” You brushed your thumb over his bottom lip.
Ezra’s lips tugged upwards at the corners as he looked at you, “Moonbeam, what’s wrong?”
“Shiva took me to Ay-7 which is typically my favorite place to go to just… get lost.”
He squeezed your shoulder, “I remember Ay-7.” Ezra chuckled quietly. “I was rather partial to the scene there.”
“Me too.” You lowered your gaze. “Shiva dragged me around the city for two days before I finally found a way back to the Block.” You chewed on your bottom lip. “I just wanted to get back to you.”
“You don’t have to come every month, little lamb.” Ezra assured you, running his hand down your arm.
“I know, but…” You shook your head. “I enjoy this, Ezra.” You drew a line between the two of you. “I’m not just going to vanish. If something happens, if I change my mind I’m going to tell you.”
Ezra’s gaze flickered between your eyes and your lips, before he started to lean in to kiss you.
You stopped him before he could, pressing your hand over his mouth. “Wait.”
His brows drew together.
“I ran into an old… friend,” You weren’t entirely certain that you’d call Quinn a friend, but that wasn’t the point. “I knew I could get him to take me back to the Block, but not without a price.”
Ezra’s voice was muffled against your palm, but you could easily make out. “I know.”
“What?”
“I could smell someone on you. All over you.” Ezra worked his jaw as he held your gaze. “I told you before, it’s not my place to take issue with that, little lamb. You aren’t bound to this moon or me.”
“I know I’m not.” You sighed heavily. “I just wanted you to know. I nearly burned my skin off in the fresher, I didn’t think you’d be able to smell him still.”
Ezra shrugged his shoulders, “The scent thing is a blessing and a curse.”
“I can imagine.” You reached out and ran your thumb down the bridge of your nose. “I just used him to get back to my transport.”
He shook his head, “Even if it meant something—“
“It didn’t.”
Ezra sighed heavily, rubbing at your side. “I can never leave Lykaois.” He reminded you. “You can’t stop living your life because of me.”
“I’m not missing out on much,” You said dryly, sinking into his side and resting your cheek against his shoulder. “I can’t help that I care about you, Ezra. I can’t explain it.”
Ezra sighed heavily, “Neither can I. In the past five years other people have turned up here, but it was never like this. None of them were you.”
“When I was on Quinn’s ship, I pulled up your old program file on the net.”
“What?” He squeezed your hip. “Is it still active?”
“No, you were marked deceased.” You gestured around you vaguely. “There was a note that you hadn’t made contact after a week on Lykaois and then a few months later they marked you dead.”
“Charming.” He grumbled. “Anything interesting?”
“We narrowly crossed paths, you know. We had signed up for nearly every single harvest, but just a season off.”
Ezra chuckled, tilting his head to look at you. “You would have loathed me, little lamb.”
You rolled your eyes, “You don’t know my taste.”
He arched a brow, “I think I do.”
“Maybe you do.” You pursed your lips at him. “It made me think about what could have been if we had ended up on a harvest together. You are just my brand of trouble.”
“And no less dangerous.”
“I saw the number of partners who didn’t make it off-world.”
“I have trust issues.” He offered with a smirk.
“Me too.” You chewed on the inside of your bottom lip. “I’ve been screwed over too many times on dicey harvests.”
“Haven’t we all.” Ezra slid his arm out from behind you. He stared straight ahead, chewing at a hangnail on his thumb. “For what it’s worth, I care about you too.”
You reached out and played with the hair at the nape of his neck. It reminded you of that first time — the pull you felt towards him. You couldn’t really explain it, but it was like you were pulled towards him by an invisible string.
“But this can never be anything more than it is,” Ezra reminded you, his brows furrowed together as he turned towards you. “And it will end before we’re ready for it to.”
“I know this, Ezra.” You traced your thumb over the rough skin of the scar on his neck. “But just because something has an end date, doesn’t mean we shouldn’t let it start.”
“It’s already started,” He drawled out. “Even the beast knows this.” Ezra held your gaze.
“What does the beast want from me?” You questioned, feeling your heart beat faster.
Ezra my eyes raked over you, “More than I’m willing to give it.”
Your lips parted and you exhaled slowly, “I want to meet the beast.”
“Have you lost your mind?” Ezra snapped.
“Probably.” You rubbed at your forehead. “I think that’s the general consensus.”
“No. I’m not risking it.” He gritted out. “I can’t control that part of me. I don’t even remember coming out here to the clearing. I could hurt you and I wouldn’t even know.”
You nodded slowly, drawing your knees up to your chest and resting your chin on your folded arms. “How long do we have?”
Ezra dragged his fingers through his hair, sinking back against the cushion. “Five days, at the most. The prints were fresh, the snow started last night.”
“And you don’t remember?”
He shook his head, pressing his tongue to the inside of his cheek. “I came out here last night, just to see if I had missed your landing. I went back home and then… this morning I saw the tracks outside. I followed them back and here we are.”
“Someone has to have done research. All these years — all the missions here.” You drummed your fingers against your leg, turning to look at him. “I’ll try to figure something out when I go back. If we had a better understanding of when this started — what researchers have found.”
Ezra pressed the heels of his palms into his eyes, sighing heavily. “There’s not going to be a cure, if that’s what you think.”
You stared at him, “But what if there was?”
He didn’t answer you.
Because that would be false hope and you knew, as much as he did, that if there were the potential for a cure it would come at far too steep a cost. Those greedy prospector programs leached from everyone to line their own pockets.
He’d survived for five years. That was more than the others, apparently.
“I couldn’t find a copy of Poe,” You told him, picking lint off your pants. “How do you feel about Dickinson?”
“Emily?” Ezra questioned, stretching his legs out in front of him, propping his heels up on the floor. “I’m regretfully not as familiar as perhaps I should be. Is she to be my new companion?”
“She’s with your new clothes in my room.” You told him, “Come on.” You reached over and gave his leg a pat before rising to your feet.
Ezra followed you down the corridor into your quarters. You hadn’t bothered making up your bed when you climbed out in the morning — too focused on getting back to Lykaois and him.
“Pardon the mess.” You explained, kicking a pair of boots out of your way as you wandered over to the table where you’d neatly stacked his new clothes. “I hope everything fits.”
“I’ll make it work if it doesn’t.” Ezra shrugged his shoulders, fixing you with a warm smile. “Thank you for this.”
“Two new pairs of pants, three shirts, and new boots.” You held your arms out to present him with the garments you’d picked up at the exchange.
“What do I owe you?” He questioned.
“Nothing.”
He arched a brow, “I had credits when I came to Lykaois, you know. It’s not like I’m planning to use them.”
“They didn’t cost that much.” You assured him, but he didn’t look convinced. “Considering them a gift.”
“You’re a gift.” Ezra quipped, begrudgingly taking the clothes from you. “They smell clean.” He inhaled deeply, walking over to your rumpled bed and making himself at home. “You never know how much you appreciate good clothes.”
You leaned back against your desk, watching as Ezra toed off his ratty boots and peeled away his worn clothes. “What happened?” You questioned with a frown as you spotted a fading bruise at the curve of his ribs.
“They were not welcoming at first.” He told you, grimacing a little as he pulled the new shirt on over his head and it pulled at that band of muscles along his ribs. “They came around. Eventually.”
You pinched the bridge of your nose, “Ezra—“
“I’m fine.”
“What happened?”
“These fit nicely.” He ignored you, fastening his new trousers shut, before tucking his shirt into them. “Like a glove.”
“Ezra.”
Ezra continued to ignore you, sitting back down on your bed to pull the shoes on. “A little snug, but I’ll break them in.” He said, before kicking them back off as he sank back onto your bed and reclined back. “They smelt you on me.”
“Oh.”
“It’s fine.”
“So, they rejected you because of me?”
He rubbed his hands together, “I’m not looking to be accepted by them.” Ezra met your eyes, “You should see the other guy. I’m scrappy when I need to be.”
“Don’t get yourself killed.” You told him firmly, before turning away from him to grab the book of poems off your desk.
Ezra chuckled, “I’m not trying to. Trust me, it’s not my preferred way out of this infernal place.”
“What is your preferred way?”
He stretched out on your bed, laying lengthwise across it. “That’s a good question, moonbeam.” He told you as he tucked an arm beneath his head. “If you’d asked me a year ago, I might’ve said something different.”
You climbed into bed with him, laying on your side to face him. “What changed?” You questioned, sliding your foot down his calf.
Ezra clicked his tongue against his teeth, “I think you know.” He reached in between you, curling his fingers around your hand. He rubbed his thumb over the back of your hand, before bringing it to his lips and pressing a kiss to your palm.
“In the past five years, have there ever been any other humans who stayed here?” You questioned, drawing your pointer finger over the bow of his lips.
He shook his head.
“And none of them have ever cared for someone who wasn’t like them?”
“I don’t know.” Ezra admitted, interlacing his fingers with yours. “You want me to ask them?”
You squeezed his hand, “I’m curious. The rumors here date back for decades. We can’t be the first to…” You tilted your face to look at him.
“I’ll ask.” Ezra murmured as his eyes flickered to your lips, leaning in to kiss you gently. “Will you read for me?” He questioned, “I believe we’re neglecting our dear Emily.”
“Of course.” You stole one more kiss, before propping yourself up a little more upright as you flipped through the small book of poems.
You could feel Ezra’s keen eyes fixed on you as you read, “Hope is the thing with feathers that perches in the soul. And sings the tune without the words and never stops at all.”
He hummed his agreement with that line.
“And sweetest in the gale is heard and sore must be the storm that could abash the little bird that kept so many warm. I’ve heard it in the chillest land and on the strangest sea. Yet never in extremity, it asked a crumb of me.” You finished, rubbing your thumb over the lines on the page.
“I know I said it once before,” Ezra started, winding his fingers through his hair. “But I miss this sea. There are a few brooks and streams here, but none of them are the same.”
You closed the book and sat it down on the bed beside you, “I don’t think I can bring the sea back with me. I could try.”
He chuckled quietly, “I have no doubt that you would try.” Ezra’s brows furrowed as he turned to look at you, his expression sobering. “I don’t want you wasting your life on me, moonbeam.”
You ran your thumb over the crease between his brows, “I’m not wasting my life. That’s not how I see it.”
“The night we met,” Ezra started, his breath warm against your palm as you ran your thumb down the length of his nose. “I was contemplating my preferred way out. Five years… it’s a long time to be alone. I’m never getting off this rock and my mind… I bristle at the thought of losing it. It’s the one thing that’s always been mine.”
“Ezra—“
“No.” He shook his head, “I was talking one last walk, exploring an area I hadn’t gone in a long time and then….” He sank back into the pillows and stared up at the durasteel ceiling above. “I caught scent of you.”
“Look, I don’t believe in fate or any of that bullshit, but that has to mean something. Doesn’t it? I won that assignment — it was supposed to be Shiva.”
Ezra worked his jaw slowly, “I know. I have had plenty of time to think about this. To think about you and what this means.” He clenched his teeth as he turned to look at you once more and you could see a pain there that was palpable.
“I’m not going to abandon you,” You told him, dragging fingers over the ruff scruff-covered cheek. “I know it may seem unlikely, but I do keep my promises.”
“There is a deeply selfish part of me that doesn’t want you to leave,” He confessed, curling his arm around your waist as he turned towards you. “A part of me that wants to lay claim to you.”
Your brows rose upwards, “You are jealous!” You shoved at him playfully.
Ezra caught your arms and held your gaze, “Maddeningly jealous.”
“I knew it.” You hooked your leg over his, wrestling your way out of his grasp so you could straddle his hips. “I did what I had to do, with what I had to work with.”
He huffed, sliding his hands up your thighs. “I know this.”
“It wasn’t terrible,” You told him — if Quinn was terrible, he wouldn’t have been a mistake you’d made a dozen times over throughout it the years. “But it wasn’t you.”
“I’m flattered.” He drawled out, staring up at you. “But you are not stuck here, little lamb. You are free to roam where I cannot.”
“Oh, you know me. I’m just raring to get back to Ay-7.” You said with a roll of your eyes, planting your palms on either side of his head as you leaned over him. “You’re allowed to be jealous, Ezra. That means you care.”
He smirked up at you, “I do care.” Ezra ran his hand up your back, curling his fingers around the back of your head as he drew you down for a kiss.
Maybe it was crazy to care for someone you’d only spent a handful of days with, across two months, but you had done crazier things. If you overlooked the werewolf part of this equation.
He spoke to a part of you that hadn’t been spoken to by anyone else.
Ezra’s fingers slid beneath the hem of your shirt, sliding over bare skin as his lips slanted against yours. A low growl rumbled in his throat and you broke away from the kiss to catch your breath. “Little lamb?”
“Yes?”
“I need to leave.”
“What?” You frowned as you stared down at him, “If you need to leave, you’re going to have to let go of me.” He had a vice-like grip on your hips.
He closed his eyes and exhaled slowly, “Something doesn’t feel right.” Ezra’s brows knit together, his lips drawn into a thin line. “Something—“
“You have to let go.” You urged, trying to pry his fingers off of you. “Ezra, please.”
He didn’t look right either. He hadn’t looked right since you saw him standing outside your transport, but you had chalked it up to the cold weather and the exhaustion of everything.
“Let go.” You leaned forward and slapped at his cheek, “Ezra you have to let me go.”
His lips parted as he inhaled deeply, his eyes snapping open and his unfocused gaze fixed on you. “I don’t understand.” Ezra mumbled, his grip loosening just enough for you to scramble off of his lap. “I need you to go. I need you to—“ His words were cut off by a weak groan, his brows furrowing together in pain. “You wanted to meet the beast and I think it heard you.”
“Oh gods.” You clambered off the bed, tripping over his shoes and hitting the floor with a resounding thud. “Shit!” You had seen that holovid before.
Morbid curiosity had you desperate to see the beast, but you knew better. There just wasn’t anywhere werewolf-proof to go.
You swore under your breath as you caught sight of crimson blood on your skin where you’d landed hard on the grated texture.
Ezra noticed too.
You scooted backwards on your ass, locking eyes with him as he peered at you from an unnatural position on the bed.
He had told you before — bones break, muscles tear. He hadn’t been lying.
“Go.” He growled out, a sound far more vicious than you were familiar with.
You grabbed onto the side of your wardrobe trunk, dragging yourself up off the floor. If you weren’t going to be bruised from his rough touch, the floor had made up the difference.
There was only one place to hide.
The fresher.
You snatched up your datapad and ran barefoot down the corridor, locking yourself into your fresher under the guise of safety. But you had seen the beast — if it wanted in, it would get in.
Tumblr media
 Watching Ezra transform through the video on your datapad was an unnerving sight that you weren’t ever going to forget. He stripped off his clothes and collapsed onto the ground where you had fallen.
He writhed on the floor, moaning in agony as his body contorted. There was no part of him that looked the same once the transformation began.
But why? You were days removed from the full moon, he had taken the lunaxium, and nothing was different from any other time you had engaged in a little fun together.
Why had it chosen now to break loose again?
The beast you had seen in the clearing was Ezra. It’s fur was the same shade of chestnut as his own, with a fleck of blonde that you hadn’t seen before. But it didn’t seem as fearsome as it had that morning — not as it laid on the floor of your bedroom whimpering like a lost dog.
You almost felt bad for him, if it weren’t for the whole part where he could easily rip you in two with his bare bestial hands.
When you used to picture your death, it typically ended staring down the barrel of a colleague turning on you. Never in your wildest dreams had you pictured yourself locked in your fresher, watching the transformation of the werewolf that might rip the fresher door off and eat you alive.
Why now?
He hadn’t seemed entirely right since you brought him inside, but you had been off too. You almost wished you’d just stayed on Ay-7 and waited until next month. But you didn’t want to abandon him.
You glanced back down at the screen, your heart stopping as you found the view into your quarters empty. You cycled through the camera views, trying to find the rogue beast, but you didn’t need the camera to find him.
Ezra — the beast — growled outside the fresher door, claws scraping loudly over the durasteel. Of course he’d found you.
He had heightened senses as a human, with a canine nose there was no doubt he could smell you. Fresh blood, halted arousal, and evidently Quinn.
You sat your datapad down on your sink, staring at your reflection in the mirror as you contemplated your way out of this. There was one air duct, but there was no way you could climb through it. Your weapons were all laying by your bed, on the other side of the door and the dangerous monster.
“Never been one to believe in a higher power, but… Kevva, Yrica, Ruke — whichever one of you exists.” You laughed awkwardly as you glanced upwards. “Help?”
 Ezra growled again, before slamming some of his body weight against the door — enough to make you jump backwards and the door groan under the pressure.
Maybe you were still dreaming. Stun shafts always gave you nightmares. The last few days had been a nightmare.
You glanced down at the database, staring at the scene taking place on the other side of the door. The camera was mounted further down the corridor, but you could see enough of the hulking monster to know you weren’t getting out of this alive.
The only weapons you had was a toothbrush, a nail file, a toilet, and a steam shower.
You could hide in the shower — it would delay your inevitable death by a few seconds.
If you survived, Ezra was going to disappear. You knew that much. This was over, whatever it was. So maybe you should just open the door and let the monster in.
He growled again as he scratched at the door, his nails grinding over the durasteel and making your ears ring.
Those would be the same flaws ripping you open.
Shiva was right — you had lost your mind.
You weren’t going to go down, cowering in the corner of your shower in fear as your clandestine lover ripped you to shreds. That wasn’t how you rolled.
This was happening and you just had to accept it.
You caught your reflection in the mirror again, before turning on your heels to face the door. Your fingers shook as you reached out and hit the button that slid open the door.
Your heart beat was pounding in your ears as you came face-to-face with the beast on the other side of the door. He was a hulking, massive creature that had to crouch down to avoid hitting the ceiling.
Ezra growled, a sound that rattled your bones.
You clenched your eyes closed, anticipating the first blow — but it never came. You opened one eye hesitantly, nearly swallowing your tongue as you realized the beast was just staring at you.
“Hi?” You tried, not quite trusting your own voice as you stared up into familiar eyes.
The beast hunched down, sniffing at the air around you inquisitively. It leaned down, planting one fearsome paw onto the ground near your foot as its muzzle hovered a few inches from your face.
Ezra — the beast — sniffed at your injured hand, before nudging at your arm with a little more force than you anticipated. You jumped back, causing him to growl fiercely at your sudden movement like a feral dog.
You held up both hands, back up a step. “I’m not going to hurt you.” You told him, staring at his eyes and hoping he understood you.
The werewolf lowered its head once more, sniffing around you curiously before nudging at your arm again.
“Do you know who I am?” You questioned as you hesitantly reached out and touched the top of his massive head.
He growled again, but it wasn’t like the other growls. It was a quiet, almost content sound.
You gently stroked your fingers through the soft fur by his ear, “Do you like that?”
Ezra huffed.
“You’re not just playing with your food, are you?” You chewed on your bottom lip as you caught sight of just how massive the teeth in his mouth were. His ears twitched and he growled quietly.
You had a feeling there was no research into this.
Tendou’s Games
Character: Tendou
Warnings: 18+, Yandere!Tendou, dub/non-con, angst, small smut scene at the end
a/n: Hey everyone! I wrote this piece for @deathcab4daddy, a literal queen-- so I hope you enjoy it love. My heart is yours! I also want to send some love to @narutos-fat-meat for beta reading (and another love of my life from Discord who also beta’d for me). I hope everyone enjoys this piece! I’ll write something more fluffy for my next piece-- no promises.
You sat at the dusty library computer, fingers twitching idly, thoughts of him finding you plaguing your mind. All you needed to do was figure out how you can log back into your email. You knew you didn’t forget your password, you rotated between the same 3, but none of them were working. You felt a few tears fall down your face when you clicked “Forgot Password” and anxiously waited as the page began to load, but it needed your phone number to recover the password. A phone number that was disconnected a few weeks ago. You felt your chest tighten. You knew you looked far from okay right now; people were staring and muttering, but no one wanted to approach you. You had tried to ask for help, that’s the first thing you tried when you arrived at the library and saw people who weren’t him. You bit your lip as you thought about anyone you may have ignored in the past but quickly shook that from your mind. You needed to worry about yourself right now. You glanced at the clock, it was 3:15pm. You covered your mouth to muffle a choked sob. He always got home at 3pm, and you knew he had to be looking for you. His precious darling. How had he completely snuffed out all forms of communication for you?
He started his games by driving all of your friends away. He greedily watched you ruin every relationship you had in your life, and once you had no more relationships to ruin, he got bored. You wished it were you he was bored with, but no, you’re his favorite toy. He has other games he can play with you.
His next game was moving you in with him. He started out light and subtle, he had asked you if you were interested in moving in with him at first. When you explained you didn’t want to because you didn’t mind your current roommate and didn’t want to screw them over by leaving the lease; Tendou smiled at you and nodded his head in understanding. What you didn’t realize was your unwillingness is what made this game so much more fun for him. The day he wouldn’t let you leave his apartment, and forcefully took your phone away, was the day his true colors came out, and the day your living hell started.
You know he had been the one to change your email password, what you don’t know is how he found your emails. You didn’t have any other ways of contacting any of your family members. You knew they didn’t check their emails often, but once they saw an email stating you weren’t okay, they’d react, and someone would come and save you from the hell you were stuck in. You felt the little flame of hope that you had, once you snuck out of the open window, dwindle down as you desperately tried to think of anything you could do. Why were you so afraid to just ask someone else to help you, had he really shattered any confidence you’ve had with interacting with other people. Why were you so afraid of another person turning you down, like the first person you approached?
It was another one of his games. Degradation at its finest.
“(Y/N), do you really think anyone else wants to be around you? Not even your friends wanted you around anymore. I still have your phone; you haven’t left our apartment for 10 days and not one message. That roommate you seemed to get along with hasn’t even questioned where you’ve been. I don’t remember you even telling them you were moving out either. Funny how you think anyone would care enough to help someone as pathetic as you. You sure are lucky to have found me, otherwise you’d really have nobody, huh?”
You put your head down in the crook of your arm as it is resting on the desktop as you thought of the things he's said to you in the past. This man had really done a number on you in the three months you’ve been stuck with him. You checked the time, 3:25pm. You don’t know how he hasn’t found you yet and claimed you as his again, but you only have a few minutes left to think.
You looked up when you felt a tap on your shoulder, and you fearfully glanced behind you to see a kind woman, who looked quite concerned.
“Miss, are you okay? Is there anything I can do to help you? Do you need to call somebody, I have my cell phone?”
You felt your lip quiver a bit, and a sigh of relief wash over you. Having someone approach you right now is what you needed. “Yea, I would…” your sentence trailed off and all color left your face as you watched the red-haired man walk up to the two of you.
“Babydoll, I’ve been looking all over for you. Always getting yourself lost in public.” He raised his eyebrows at you and turned to the woman helping you. “I’m sorry that she caused you so much hassle, she’s getting her phone fixed so she couldn’t even call me to come find her”
“O, she really didn’t cause any problems, I just wanted…” the woman started but Tendou cut her off.
“No need to be so kind. I’ve watched her cause problems for many people—but she’s getting better at minding her own business”
The glint in Tendou’s eyes made the woman nod solemnly. “I’m glad I could help”
You watched with fear in your eyes as the woman walked off and Tendou wrapped his arm around your shoulders pulling you into him and he leaned down into your ear. “I didn’t have work today, and I never realized how fun people watching at a library would be”
Your eyes widened when you realized this was just another one of his games. A game to see how far he had broken you. Where he watched you try and reach out for help but fail. A game where he got to test how much he had ruined your independence. He was always there and in control, able to stop anything that he thought may have been too risky. You felt him warningly squeeze your waist and place a kiss on your temple while you felt the little flame of hope that was inside you dwindle down to a flame that was barely even lit.
Tendou arrived at a car that you didn’t recognize as his, but as Tendou was pushing you into the back seat you noticed Ushijima was driving, and Tendou was sliding into the backseat with you.
“How was your date?” Ushijima asked calmly and your eyes widened in surprise.
“It went well” Tendou stated while sliding your pants and underwear down your legs while you were half heartedly fighting him on that. “Ushiwaka, do you think you could drive around for a while? You don’t mind me playing back here with (y/n) do you?” Tendou asked his best friend.
“I have practice in the morning, but I could probably drive around for an hour or so” Ushijima stated while turning up the music in his car and rolling the window down slightly to get a breeze in the car.
Your eyes widened. Tendou had never done anything around anyone else before, and you felt your breathing get heavier. “However long works for you, Ushiwaka” he smiled and started rubbing your clit while pulling his pants down. “I can’t believe you even thought you had the chance of leaving me, you’re nothing but a dumb little cocksleeve” Tendou stated while he hurriedly sheathed himself inside, letting out a groan in your ear while you felt a few tears roll down your eyes and the flame of hope get snuffed out with everyone of Tendou’s thrusts.
We are not just friends — Part 19
Chris Evans x bi!latina!character (Sofia is a people of color, she’s brown.)
Chris and Sofia meet when their best friends started dating, it all started at friends with loads of bumps on the road.
Warnings: drinking, smoking, drug use (weed), assault, Chris being Steve Rogers, commitment issues, my girl Sofia kinda messy.
This is slow burn at its best, at least emotionally.
Series masterlist
Tumblr media
Sofía had definitely closed up, she became a recluse in her own apartment and the only thing she did was go to work and back. She felt mostly okay, she wasn't crying her eyes out or seeing a random photo of Chris and crying.
She was hurt, deeply hurt but all she did was avoid thinking about him. This wasn't like the first time they broke up, this felt different. Like, this was it.
She loses one of her most precious friends and gains another failed relationship, another ex that probably will end up resenting her because they couldn't reach her and when she opens up she gets shot down.
After Chris…
Sofia was sure that she was meant to be alone and she was mostly okay with it.
On the other hand, Christopher was devastated—he honestly thought she was the one, he felt it in his gut, his heart, his whole being made him feel that she was the one. She just kept pushing him away in all the ways that she could find and he took it, until he couldn't anymore and that alone made him feel like he was failing her, he didn't know how to help her and she won't let him.
They were so far away from each other—it was exhausting and the fact that he had just started talking with Jenny again made him feel insecure about his relationship.
But he love her with all his fucking heart that it hurt his whole body knowing that she might ever be able to love him back the way he does.
"I miss him," Sofia said, putting her eyeliner on. She was going out as Amanda was very pregnant to even move.
"He does too." She said rubbing her belly. "It's been, how much time now?,"
"Four months , so he's dating Jenny. That's what I heard…" Sofia tried not to get emotional about it but… Fuck.
"Yeah, Luke told me about it… but it's  going anywhere and he knows. Not sure about her though."
"He always gets back with all his exes. Got us on rotation, fucking idiot. He wants to commit but he can't actually commit with anyone. Then in the one with commitment issues," Sofia shook her head and let out a groan. "I love him, I swear to you I love him, he's a good friend but he's a terrible boyfriend."
"Right back at you," Amanda laughed and Sofia had to, because she was absolutely right about her too.
"I don't go back with all my exes, though"
"Mostly don't, Chris it's the exception."
"Because I thought it was going to be okay for once." She made a face and began putting the make up back on her little make up bag. "I can't believe he's back with Jenny, she's funny and intelligent and great—but God, I don't fucking like her." Sofia said, throwing the make-up bag on her bag and pout. "I don't want to go out now. More because I know he's here in Boston and it's not leaving until next year and I'm seeing his brother today."
"You don't wanna run into him?,"
"Of course I wanna run into him, I miss him so much but I'm totally not over him yet." Sofia explained sitting on the toilet seat looking at Amanda that was leaning in the door frame. "I don't know if I'm ever going to be over Chris."
"I'm sad now, you're make me feel sad and my boy too—
"I'm sorry—
"Don't be, I'm feeling sad because I can't go out with you and drag Chris's name all over Boston even though he's great but he left you."
Sofia smiled looking down and felt Amanda's hand running through her hair and she sighed deeply.
-
Sofía was vibing or at least trying, the place was comfy and she knew almost all the people that were there—witch where all of fucking Christopher closest friends and some random girls that the guys bring from somewhere.
Apparently he wasn't coming, which Sofia didn't know if she was actually relieved or not.
"Jesus fucking christ." She murmured to herself tried of her own fucking mind noise. She stood up and walked to the little bar area and started pouring a drink, straight whiskey and downed it all and poured herself a second and then a third walking away with the drink on her hand.
He saw her first, saw her leaning on a wall, talking with some dude —younger than her, brunette and with a fucking man bun, he was built, lean and tall. She laughed, at whatever fucking thing he said she laughed and looked at him with the little fucking straw on her lips. Oh, boy he was mad.
Chris rubbed his face and went about to hang up with his friends and mingle a little bit. But he couldn't stop looking at their direction every fucking second.
"They sure look cozy," Luke said and Chris looked at him. "Did you talk to her yet?"
"I can't talk to her, man." Chris muttered and downed the warm beer on his hand and his friend handed him another. "What I'm supposed to say?, hey, long time remember when I dump you because I'm a fucking imbecile and i cant fucking wait." He said dropping sarcasm on every word.
"That's a good opening," Luke laughed and Chris just stared at him, murdering eyes directed at his very own best friend.
"Who the fuck is that?" he asked referring to the guy she was talking with.
"A friend of Ryan's cousin."
Chris made a face and rolled his eyes. "The fuck he doing here?"
"It's Ryan's house, dude," Luke said and was a little amazed at Chris, he definitely hasn't seen him like this in a really long long time. "Man. .." Luke said, kind of amazed. "You're still head over heels in love with her, don't you?"
"I wonder what gave it away," Chris said, drinking his beer and rubbing his face. "imma talk to her,"
"Ah—don't think it's-uh," Luke was looking at them and saw them share a kiss, it was quick and he kinda went for it.
"What?," Chris said turning around and saw them just breaking the kiss and that's the moment Sofia saw him.
And her stomach dropped, her whole ass body dropped—
"Oh, woow. Are you okay?," Alex, asked her when her knees buckled and he caught her.
"Ah, yeah, yes. Just," She smiled at him and looked at her empty glass. "Little drunk, imma get more—" Sofia made an attempt to leave but Alex, bless his fucking kind heart, offered her to get her those drinks and something to eat.
As soon he leaves that was a cue to Chris, who literally strutted to the wall she was leaning and Slfia just… started.
"Hi," He said, hands on his pockets as Sofia kept looking at him. "How-how are you?"
Sofoa kept quiet and simply walked away from him, ahe couldn't possibly do the whole small talk bullshit they alwaus did and it emeded up al fucking badly. Chris looked at her go and he was the one that stormed after her.
"Sofia, come on," Chris said and walked besides her. "Sof, it's going to be like this?"
"I can't talk with you Chris, like…" She sighed and sat down on a bench, they weren't completely away from the people and there were some girls sitting on a couch messing around with their phones and minding their business.
"Why not?," He asked, looking at her. He just wanted to reach out and hug her, he missed her.
Sofía finally looked up at him and asked him, "How's things with Jenny?," Chris looked away and rubbed his beard and stayed quiet at her question for a moment.
"We're not together anymore," He said and Sofia made a face and sigh. "What about you?"
"What about me?"
"Are you seeing someone?" He asked looking at the bar where the dude was talking with Ryan, probably giving him the talk.
"Look, Sofia is off limits."
"What?, why? She told me she's single." Alex asked and looked back at where she was supposed to be and found Chris looking back at him with that death stare he did when he was annoyed.
"Yes, she is. But it's also Chris ex and they still didn't figure it out and he's my friend, so kid. Off limits,"
"Do you care,?" She asked, sassy.
"If I didn't I wouldn't be asking, wouldn't I?," He asked right back at her, also sassy.
"Last time I tried that, it didn't go well," Sofia said, rolling her eyes at him. "And the one before that, worse." She said at their obvious relationship and Chris just grunted. But couldn't blame her, it was a mess…
"Yeah," He murmured and dug into his pockets and fished out a packet of cigarettes. "want one?" He offered her and she took it.
"Thanks, we should smoke outside though." Sofia said walking out to the backyard where the other guys were doing the grilling.
They waved at them but kept their distance, not Scott though because it was Scott.
"So…" He said walking up to them and putting a hand on each shoulder. "You two are actually talking,"
"Not really," Sofia rolled her eyes and Chris grunted again.
"Sof," He said, putting those little blue eyes to work on him and it worked, of course it will work.
"Okay, okay…" She agreed and lit up the cigarette giving Chris a look. Thinking that the moment she found him unattractive was when she stopped looking at men all together and dedicated herself to pussy forever.
He was so fucking attractive, jesus fuck.
"Either way, is there a point here?," She asked looking at both of them. "We're good, I guess," She shrugged.
"Are we really good?," Chris asked.
"I don't know, you left me." Sofia took a drag and Scott made a face.
"And that's my cue to leave, I love you both." He said and Sofia laughed.
"And I do too." She wink at him and Chris was staring at her, waiting for Scott to leave.
"I shouldn't have done that—
"Chris, don't." She waves a hand at him. "You seriously need a new woman on your life, this thing about getting back with all your exes ia getting old as fuck."
"Ouch," He said and actually smile and so did she. "I do miss you, you know that."
"I miss you too, come on. We were really good friends for a moment there,"
"Yeah," He smiled and bit his bottom lip, shaking his head. "We fucked up, don't we?"
"Yeah, and I told you so."
"You did. Guess I didn't listen,"
"You never listen, stubborn Gemini man." She said punching him on the arm.
"Yeah, you're right but I don't regret it though."
"Me neither," She smiled and sigh, just thinking for a moment. "So, there's a wedding coming?"
"You mean ours?," He joked and Sofia barked a laugh.
"I mean our better halves, idiot. Besides, we will be divorced in the first four months."
"What?, come on I gave us at least… a year," Chris saif and Sofia made a face, disagreeing.
"Six months, tops." She said and put her hand on his month. "The thought of me being a wife, ew."
Chris laughed out loud. "You look pretty in white,"
"I look pretty in everything because I'm pretty," She rolled her eyes with a smile. "But, jokes aside. Do you see yourself married?"
"I like the idea of marriage but… Honestly, I don't know."
"I preferred to have a kid before marriage, it's just a fucking paper in the end. You can divorce, I think I'll know when I have a kid, if I have a kid."
"We never had this talk before," Chris said and pointed at a little bench for them to sit. "About us,"
"Did you think about it?" Sofia asked as she sat down beside him. Chris was holding his beer between his legs and looking forward.
"Yeah, I mean…" He looked at her. "I have never been this in love with someone like I am with you, so yeah. I did, a couple of times actually."
Sofia was dumbfounded at what he said, and she did toyed with the idea a couple of times…
"I almost propose to you, actually…" He laughed and Sofias head snapped so hard to look at him. "After you met my mom, I bought that ring you liked. I thought that maybe someday…" He shrugged and Sofia's eyes watered up and just stared forward.
"Chris, I…" She whispered and he looked at her.
"What's wrong?," He asked, frowning.
"What's wrong!?," She said, wiping her tears. "Dude, are you hearing what you are saying to me?."
Chris realized it at that moment, what he did. Bomb after bomb he just dropped on her.
"Sorry, I got carried away." He muttered slouching on the bench and drank the rest of his beer.
"You'll find someone, Chris…" Sofia said in a small voice.
"Already found her," He muttered and stood up and walked away.
For your BTHB, I would love self-harm and John. If not that, then I could also put forth bedside vigil and Alan ♡♡♡♡♡♡♡
Thanks for the ask
Okay, so Self Harm has already gone. Sorry about that. I was on my phone and not home PC so that's the only bingo card I had handy.
But I can merge the two together, if that's okay.
Category/Fandom: Thunderbirds are Go Characters: John Tracy, Alan Tracy, vague mention of Grandma, Virgil and Kayo but not vital to the story as such
Warnings: eating disorders and self harm
Tumblr media
Alan sat perched on the edge of his seat, looking expectantly at his brother, who was paler than usual in the hospital bed.
He wasn't the most observant of people, heck he managed to get a nasty bruise from walking into Shadow. If he'd taken that little bit more notice, then he would have seen where the outline of TBS flickered ever so slightly. He'd been sporting a black eye for a week now ... his badge of honour so to speak.
But as he watched John, he couldn't help noticing that the tee shirt was baggier than usual, his collarbone and cheekbones more prominent.
Oh sure, they'd been busier than ever but even so, breaks were essential. And he couldn't remember the last time John spent mealtimes with everyone.
'Grandma's cooking' was an excuse that started getting old.
But essential work on TB5? EOS could handle that, no problem.
John was always meticulous about rotating his foods so it was a shocker when Alan went on board John's space station and discovered the fridge had very little in it and what was there ... was so old it was practically growing it's own fungus.
He evaded every question flung at him by his kid brother and when pressed further, he just shut down and refused to talk.
But then he fainted ... quite out of the blue ... right inside the holosphere. Alan was so glad this didn't happen outside because then it would have been very tricky indeed. However, being indoors DID pose issues of their own - zero gravity was a pain when hauling a floppy body around and it took some serious scrambling and negotiation, bouncing off the walls whilst EOS flung out a barrage of questions at him.
Once Alan managed to wedge the man into the space elevator and strap him in, as well as sending a distress call to Tracy Island, John's eyes finally fluttered open, but he wasn't making any sense at all and that got Alan worried.
Virgil, and grandma were waiting to have him checked over. His blood sugar had seriously dipped and if they didn't get any nutrients into him, his organs were on the verge of collapse.
How the hell did the biosuit miss all the signs?
That was easy, he'd figured out a bypass that tricked the suit ... and EOS ... because he didn't want anyone to know about his shameful eating disorder.
It had originally started out as just being too busy. To the food not being that palatable. And it was easier to skip a meal or two because his shakes would be enough. And then they'd eventually stopped.
But grandma wasn't having it. There had to be some sort of trigger to cause him to go down this self destructive route.
And there was only one name that came to mind.
Captain Ridley O'Bannon.
After she's tricked him into saving her, he'd refused to talk about it and brushed it all aside. But grandma knew her grandsons and knew that this had hurt him deeply. He'd let Ridley in, gained her trust but then she had violated that trust.
So now, here he was, Earthside and hooked up to a drip, whilst Alan loomed over him day after day. After all, he'd been there when John collapsed. He felt responsible for John right now.
Each day he would saunter in, juice box in one hand and his games console in the other. But that was quickly abandoned as all he could fixate on was his brother.
Recovery was slow. And because John's stomach had shrunk so much, and he was weak, he couldn't lift up the cutlery so he had to be spoon fed.
Alan was there, dipping the spoon into the weak but vitamin laced broth, blowing on it and pushing it to John's lips. At first, John turned away and refused. But Alan still persisted.
At one point he got so angry that he threatened to get one of grandma's big syringes and shove it up John's butt ... just to make damned sure that he got SOMETHING into his body.
That cause John to smile weakly and he just couldn't resist correcting the poor kid by saying that that was the dumbest idea he'd ever had ... and added on wistfully that he sounded just like grandpa. He'd been a picky eater too.
Alpha-17 back on Kamino, taking Anakins suggestion and helping the clones come up with names and describing what working with jedi will be like. Also i like the idea of the clones asking why he SO scarred and hes like now thats a good story and watch out for general kenobi he gets into stuff and only after they meet him and anakin are they like "Oh now i get it."
Anon! I got SO. EXCITED. when I got this! Alpha is such a great character and I really enjoy working with him. Thanks for the prompt! I hope it hits everything you asked for. :)
Kamino is… even worse than he remembers, quite honestly. If not for the verd’ike, Alpha would be more than tempted to burn the place to the ground and be done with it.
(It’s not the first time the thought has ever crossed his mind, and it’s certainly not the last.)
But at least he doesn’t have to deal with Kenobi or Skywalker anymore.
Which is a plus, all things considered. Rattatak had been rough, to put it lightly - much more so than he’d let on, partly to ward off potential concern from Kenobi and partly because he refuses to admit it to himself.
Of course, he’s traded the Jedi for a batch of cadets who are entirely too boisterous for their own good. Kenobi is still stuck with Skywalker as far as he knows, and sometimes he can’t help wondering who got the better deal.
(Then again, knowing Kenobi, he’d be all too happy to spread some osik about serenity and inner balance or something equally revolting.)
Alpha suspects it’s a product of Jango’s teaching that he’d initially headed into this assignment with high expectations for the command batch. In retrospect, he can’t for the life of him fathom where he’d acquired that notion - every single cadet under his command is the embodiment of chaos with a healthy disrespect for authority.
He’s not one to talk, but as an officer - and a recently promoted officer at that - he feels that it’s his duty to try to uphold the command structure of the GAR.
Still, he can’t help feeling a sense of grim satisfaction whenever one of the di’kute fires back a retort at the Kaminiise or one of the nat-born instructors. Normally any deviant behavior would be smothered for fear of reconditioning, but the Kaminiise know better than to cross him. He’s one of Jango’s, after all.
Fett may have been a rotten father, but Alpha has a grudging respect for the man’s ability to keep them all in line for twelve years. Wrangling these cadets is exhausting; he can only be grateful that they’ll be rotated out in a few months.
(Truthfully, he hasn’t been able to shake a sense of bone-deep fatigue since Rattatak, but that’s no one’s business but his own.)
No one could ever accuse him of going easy on his cadets, but even he knows that every soldier needs a break sometimes. Taking a second to breathe does wonders for morale.
Unfortunately, it also invites the possibility of conversation with the verd’ike. He’s never been as inclined to idle conversation like many of his brothers, but he’s pleasantly surprised when the rambunctious boys he’s slowly becoming accustomed to prove to be much more insightful than he’d previously imagined.
He indulges their curiosity some days. More often than not their interest lies with the Jedi they’ll be serving with soon enough, so he does his best to share an adequate depiction. They’re not omnipotent tactical masterminds like the clones had been raised to believe, Alpha warns, but they’re decent officers for the most part.
“You served with General Kenobi, didn’t you, sir?” one of the cadets asks.
Alpha barely suppresses the first sarcastic remark that comes to mind and instead settles for a nod and a noncommittal shrug.
“And?” one of the other boys pipes up.
“And what?”
“What did you think of him?”
Well, for one thing, he’s a kriffing Jedi playing at being a politician while having at least one affair that’s strictly forbidden by his creed…
“He’s a good officer,” Alpha says at last. “Gets a bit high-minded, and we rarely ever saw eye to eye, but he listens to his men.”
He’s been sure to drill that into them over and over, because if there’s one thing he wants them to retain it’s that soldiers will follow a commander into hell if he makes an effort to connect with them.
“What really happened on Rattatak?”
The question catches him off guard. For a second he has half a mind to deflect it - it’s a long story, for one thing, and an unpleasant one at that - but these cadets will be shipping out soon. He’ll have little say in things once they deploy, but he can certainly do his best to prepare them now.
Besides, Alpha can’t fault them for wanting to explore the galaxy beyond Kamino through any outlet available. Being slated for a command slot can be isolating, and they’ve heard enough about the galaxy from older troopers to be ravingly curious about what awaits them once they step foot outside Tipoca.
“It’s really not that interesting,” he sighs in a last-ditch effort to deter them.
Sadly, they seem content to wait him out.
Shabla cadets and their shabla games.
Grumbling - they look far too smug for having secured such a minor victory - Alpha opts to give them a vague overview rather than a meticulous account of everything that had taken place after Ventress had seen fit to interfere on Jabiim.
“The campaign on Jabiim was tipping in Separatist favor…”
Skywalker may be a pain in the shebs, but Alpha is coming to realize that the kid had a point about naming the cadets. It hadn’t been much of a priority among the Alpha batch, but it seems to be something extraordinary for the later generations.
Most times, the kids don’t tell Alpha directly that they’ve chosen a name for themselves; rather, he learns to listen to the quiet discussions between squad mates, and makes a point of using those names rather than the designations they’d been assigned at birth.
Sometimes a cadet’s delight gets the better of him and he blurts it out during an exercise. Alpha rarely reacts in the moment, but he makes sure to give an acknowledgement when they’re off-duty.
After a while, their names spring to mind before their numbers. Cody, Bacara, Gree… he still can’t determine what exactly the change signals, but he can see it in their eyes. It’s a source of pride, and who is he to deny them?
Besides, he thinks wryly, it’s better than an unruly Padawan deciding to bestow a nickname upon them in the middle of a war zone.
______________________
The cadets seem to be under the impression that stories from the battlefield will become a regular fixture in their routine. Alpha doesn’t let that notion stand very long, but he occasionally allows their questions after a successful exercise or a particularly impressive sparring match.
They’ve gotten even bolder since he first took command; apparently, no question is off limits.
“You’ve got an awful lot of scars, sir,” one of the boys observes. From the tone, Alpha guesses it’s Bly.
“Very astute, cadet,” Alpha huffs. “I’m glad my training isn’t wasted on you.”
“Are they all from Rattatak?”
“For one thing, I honestly don’t remember how I got every single scar, and for another, I’m not here to tell you stories,” Alpha says firmly like he hasn’t spent the past twenty minutes addressing their various questions about his experience with Jedi command.
“It’s General Kenobi, isn’t it,” Cody pipes up sagely, and in that moment Alpha realizes he’s taught them a little too well.
“He had something to do with most of them, yes,” Alpha admits.
“Some officer,” Neyo mutters with his usual cynicism.
Alpha cuffs him. “Put a lid on it, cadet. I didn’t say they were his fault - it’s just that he was usually involved in one way or another. Kenobi likes to poke his nose in where it isn’t necessarily wanted.”
Most of them look disbelieving. Alpha just shrugs. They’ll figure it out one way or another.
_____________________
Alpha jerks awake sometime around 0300 to the incessant beeping of his comlink. Grumbling to himself, he activates it and rumbles a greeting.
“Hope I didn’t wake you up, sir.”
“You’re lucky I’m not in theater, or I would smoke your shebs for this one, Cody,” Alpha growls, because even though it’s been a while since the first batch rotated out he vividly remembers every cadet’s distinct inflection and tone.
“We’ve heard that one before,” Cody says teasingly.
Alpha ignores the jibe. “Spit it out, di’kut.”
Cody hesitates, then bursts out, “How did you do it?”
“Do what?” Alpha asks, awake enough to be puzzled.
“Deal with Kenobi,” Cody whispers. Alpha can’t help being amused by the desperation in his voice. “He’s a disaster on legs, sir.”
“That’s nothing I didn’t know already, al’verde,” Alpha informs him.
“But sir…”
“You’re the commander. He’s your problem now,” Alpha adds, thoroughly enjoying himself.
“Alpha…”
“Give the general my regards, Commander.”
“Wait - ”
 “Sorry, al’verde. Duty calls.”
If Alpha is smirking when he sets aside his comlink and shuts his eyes in the hopes of getting a few more hours of sleep, no one is the wiser.
unrequited i
character: sugawara koushi
genre: hurt, no comfort
I think I fell for him when neither of us expected. I was a new student at karasuno at that time and I ended up being placed in his class. Our homeroom teacher assigned him to me so that he can give me a tour for the school. He gave me his number that day and told me to text him whenever I need help or if I get lost.
I found Sugawara amazing, especially with him being a third year and sacrificing his rotation because he knew that Kageyama was a better choice for his team. I think it was the way he was playful to his teammates and considerate of those around him. It was how hardworking he was and how willing he was to help others. I remember asking him if he was busy when he was giving me a tour, I did transfer at a weird time. He beamed me a smile and said no. I knew that was a lie, it was finals season when I transferred, how could anyone not be busy at this time? I felt really bad but at the same time, relived that he didn’t refuse at the teacher’s command.
I realized that I was falling for him was when he gave a bun because he noticed that I “haven’t been eating as much as I usually do.” It was a custard bun that I usually bought at the school’s cafeteria but stopped due to the fact that I have been busy and hadn’t had the time to eat.
“Take care of yourself and eat y/n” he said, sitting down at the table in front of me, placing the bun and taking my notebook and closing it.
“No, give it back Suga, I’m fine” I whined, pushing back the bun to him and tried to grab my notebook. He shook his head,
“No, I’ll give it back when you at least eat that” He put the notebook at an arm away and nodded towards the bun, as if urging me to take it and eat it. I sighed, taking it and opening it.
“fine.” I said, knowing that I won’t win against him. He smiled and placed the notebook back to my desk and started talking about his club. He kept me company that day even after I finished my food and went back to studying. He said that it felt better that way, to have company when you're studying.
I was under the impression that he liked me. It was stupid of me to assume that. I never noticed how his eyes twinkled when he looked at Shimizu and how much more brightly, he seemed to be when he’s around her. How her few words can cause him to elicit such a strong reaction but I thought he was just playing.
It was a Friday when I confessed to him, he scratched the back of his neck and was seemingly embarrassed? I thought that, that was a good thing reaction. We were by the gym doors to the side but that’s not really important. He looked at anything but me. I thought that he was just shy.
“hey, y/n” he started when he finally found the courage to look at me in the way, “I’m sorry but I don’t see you like that”
Silence.
“oh” so many things were running in my mind, my hands clammy under the small cake that I baked him that was still on the palms of my hands that was outreached to him, my head bowing a little bit. I slowly raised my head up, my arms retreating; I felt humiliated and could only utter a whisper “... I’m sorry... you don’t have to take the cake if you don’t want it”
“it’s okay, I’ll take it anyways” he whispered back, looking directly at me reaching for the cake that was resting in my hands. As soon as he took it, I twirled around and walked away. The tears that I held back when he told me are only now threating to come out. He didn’t try to follow me or call out to me, but I wished he did.
Ff7 request, Reno likes his girl taking some control over him when it comes to intimate things. Being dominated a little, he finds it extremely hot. Nsfw, sfw, your choice, but maybe some steamy kissing? Hair pulling, groping, idk, whatever you come up with ;)
Black Forest | Reno x Reader
‘The only thing harder than being a Turk, was loving one’
i
a/n: this was pretty much all mature content? but i'm not ashamed of it in the slightest. adding it to the black forest series, bc why not. thank you for the request!
When people thought of Reno, three things came to mind.
1. His love to fly
2. His love to flirt shamelessly,
3. His love to gossip freely.
It built the character of the cocky and often cynical Turk with a lazy disposition toward analytical genius.
When Reno thought of you, three different attributes came to mind, all centered around his adoration of your more assertive nature.
   1#: Your love for attention.
Reno is convinced that he has a sixth sense for you, acutely aware every time you’re in proximity. It’s always been a distracting quality, whether in the heat of battle or now, relaxed comfortably against the couch with suspicious eyes as you kneel innocently between his spread thighs.
His call with Rude had started with business but eventually simmered into more mundane topics of social affairs and various forms of entertainment. Their partnership wasn’t a strong union without a bit of off-the-clock bonding.
It served as some much needed guy time, which was very prominently exclusive from yours.
Your selfish desire to have his attention at any given moment should have been an aggravating quality if you didn’t look so damn sexy with your attempts to garner it. Even now as his gaze follows the curve of your back as you arch to press your bosom against his chest.
He knows where this is leading immediately, yet only a small part of him feels bad for Rude.
“I … ah, no Yeah, I’m listening. I missed that highlight though. Tell me about it.”
Reno is aware of the tremor already thrumming at the end of his speech, an element of the situation that he can’t really do anything about. Neither about the hitch as you adjust your weight to hover over his apex, undulating your hips at a leisure pace with a whisper of friction. It’s the visual of promise that does most of the work as he watches the show through a half-lidded gaze. His arousal spiked the moment you entered the room and you already had a tight grip on the reins.
His leisure wear around the house does nothing to hide the thick line of provocation raising against the fabric. Reno tips his head back against the couch, the column of his throat jumping with a thick swallow as you adopt a more purposeful rhythm.
Sunlight spills across the whiteness of your smile as he responds brokenly to a prompt you can’t pick up on the other line. There’s a tremor to his hold of the phone, tight enough that you wonder if he’ll end the call prematurely before your fun is over.
Poor Rude has to know something is up as he fruitlessly attempts to gather the fraying threads of Reno’s attention. You can finally hear the deep baritone of his voice when you duck your head to run the flat of your tongue against Reno’s collar. There you nibble at the bone, teeth catching in away that he can’t ignore as a low groan tumbles from the redhead’s lips.
It’s enough to shift the rules of the game as you break an unnamed vow of silence, breathless sounds catching as you work yourself harder against the wet stain pooling in his lap. The pleasure is more than mutual now, Reno’s shoulder’s going taut with strain. He wets his lips sloppily and tilts his hips upwards to catch the downward drag against his more than interested erection.
The moment he opens his mouth to speak, you’re there to kiss the heat straight from his tongue, demanding entrance without question as your tongue slides against his aperture. With a whimper and sigh, you shift closer.
You’re not sure who breaks the kiss first, only reminded of a certain third party as Reno’s mouth skims down your chin.
“Sorry, Rude. It appears I’ve been summoned.”
#2 Your love to punish.
“Aw, Reno are you crying?”
He wasn’t, he wanted to deny vehemently. But as his eyes drew in tight together and the moisture collected against his lashes it didn't make for a very convincing argument. Shifting fruitlessly, Reno draws in a harrowing breath as the strain of his muscles pulls against the taut restraints pinning him to the bed frame.
It had taken him too long into a week of silence to realize he was the reason behind it. He had interpreted your cold shoulders and lack of communication as stress on the job, certainly not taking into account the plethora of time it allowed you to simmer about his blunder.
A fault he still couldn't pinpoint but he was sure if he asked anyone at the office, they would be able to procure a list out of nowhere. The redhead had a tendency to align towards recklessness and careless attitudes which more than often spelt trouble. One would think he would have learned his lesson by now. But they weren’t privy to the curriculum of those classes.
Or how enjoyable they were.
Or maybe he was just a bit of a masochist.
Folded snuggly around his turgid cock, Reno found heaven in the pits of hell as your drenched core worked back and forth. You were a sight to behold, seemingly unaffected aside from a light sheen of sweats as you grind the bareness of your flesh against his. While he’s the opposite, harsh pants and uninhibited whimpers.
And you enjoy it all with a wicked smile.
You adjust your hands, placing on against the firm heat of his chest while the other braces against the white curve of his shoulder, fingers curling into a visible pressure that blooms against the color of his skin. Your back arches, allowing the head of his cock to catch at the ring of your entrance before rotating back to ride back down his shaft.
His arms jerk with the motion of trying to reach, but it's an empty action without any real intent. More of a reflex than anything else. The spill of his precum makes a sticky web between your fingers as you circle the sensitive slit with your thumb. He’s swollen and fat and barely hanging on by a prayer.
With the help of a cock ring it might have made it easier. No matter how hard he tried to cum it just wouldn’t be in his cards. But there was something more beautiful about the curtailment he holds himself accountable to, resisting the urge to blow when having all the freedom to do so.
There is active pleasure in riding him like this, feeling every vein of his throbbing arousal spike gratification against your sensitive walls. But the true satisfaction came from every shudder and choked groan as he shakes his head to fight off the haze.
Mercy is a thin promise, slippery as your tongue skims across the seam of his lips. He believes it’s the closest he’ll get to tasting you, a bitter whimper leaking from his mouth in a muffled sound. The kiss is messy and hungry as you allow him the opportunity to sample your pleasure.
It only takes a subtle twist of the hips to guide his cock back in line as you back into the press of him inside you. Your wetness spills around him, almost excessively so as it spills against his inner thigh. It doesn’t take much for you to lose traction of your own orgasm, nothing stopping you from quaking freely around him as he rolls into a few finishing thrusts before stilling.
He’s rock hard, tremulous and near delirium and yet-
“Fuck me … I’m so in love with you.”
#3 You love the satisfaction of pleasing what's yours.
“You look stressed.”
Despite the mountain of paperwork on his desk, Reno’s attention was happily placed elsewhere. Before rolling to you, his gaze seemed very attentive to the screen of his phone as his fingers tapped a rhythm that looked more familiar to a mobile game than a response for a work related email. But now that you were here, he seemed pleased to have a new distraction.
Curling his fingers inward, he beckoned you closer and the moment you were in reach he pulled you into his lap.
“Beyond fucked over, you see all this shit Tseng has me doing?”
Laughing humorously at his expense, you leaned in to press a kiss to the generous exposure of his chest. “If that’s the same stack I saw delivered in here earlier today, I’m more inclined to say the blame is in your park. Did you even try?”
The hand at your waist squeezed as his lips formed something between a gripe and a grumble of complaint. “Of course I’ve been workin, yo. What do I look like, a freeloader?”
It was an open invitation that took credible effort not to buy into.
“You look like you could use a bit of TLC.”
Bracing against his shoulder, you readjust yourself to straddle his lap. Taking his face into your hands, you coax him into a slow kiss the taste of stale coffee and mints mixing with your own tang. Reno bites your tongue and you reflexively tangle your hands in his hair to pull it taut.
He winces at the action but doesn’t complain. “What are the chances of you riding me being in that wholesome itinerary of yours?”
You take the opportunity to make him flinch again, this time away from the sharp nip of your teeth against his bottom lip. “Slim to none.”
He offered a placating medium by rubbing his palms against your thighs, “So what do you have in mind then?”
His answer comes in the form of your hands at his buckle.
Pleased with the predictable but unvoiced assumption, Reno leans back readily in his chair to give you ample room. “Oh, shit yeah.”
Rolling your eyes, you free him from his briefs and curl your fingers around his length,”Try not to embarrass yourself.”
The redhead hisses out a ‘yes, ma’am’, instinctively rocking his hips into the downward thrust of your hand. You pull away just long enough to spit crudely into your palm before returning with an underhand grip. Anticipation seizes his muscles, overlaying the strain of stress as eyes slid shut.
At home you would have gone for a more languid approach, mimicking a gentle massage to build him up slowly and bring him down just as gently. But work offers a different time restraint as you work up to a more persistent, fluid motion strokes.
The hand still lingering on your thigh squeezes reflectively to the drag of your thumb over the head of his cock. The setting is too much of a stimulant to ignore, the need to rush injecting adrenaline into his veins and blooms outward from the line of his spine.
Familiar with the course of pleasure, you preemptively snatch a few tissues from the corner of his desk just in time to save his uniform from the spilling capitulation.
You’re still running the edges of the balled up material against your hands when his eyes blink open.
“Aw, you’re not going to lick it off? What a buzz kill.”
Despite his seemingly ungrateful wording, his tone held the gratitude needed to produce a smile on your lips to which he mirrors. Tucked away but still unbuttoned, he draws you in for a kiss that you indulge momentarily before slipping away.
When you look over your shoulder, the man is still sagged in his chair with a look of satisfaction as his wiggles his fingers in your direction.
“See you at home, yo. Thanks for the good ole’ love and care.”
