"be safe" becomes their thing. they say it to each other before heading into work, before heading out to the store, before taking the garbage out. doesn't matter how serious or how silly the situation is, they will always tell each other to be safe.

Tommy is a Nickelback fan. I've been going back and forth on this for like a week, but I'm deciding that he is! Buck teases him a little about it. but then he gets hooked on their music and he absolutely regrets teasing Tommy lol

Tommy runs colder than Buck, so he has a decent collection of well-worn sweatshirts in his closet that are perfect for stealing. Buck's favorite is a crew neck from Tommy's time at the 118. "Kinard" is written in bold white letters under the LAFD logo on the back. Tommy makes sure to let Buck know exactly how much he likes seeing his last name across his back.

while Buck is the cook in their relationship, Tommy is the baker. they both love to be the taste tester for each other when they've got a new recipe to try out (the 118 are always happy to enjoy some of the leftover sweets when Buck brings them into work. Harbour constantly asks when Tommy's bringing in more of Buck's eggplant parm. they're obsessed with it).

After Buck and Tommy get married, they get matching tattoos on their ring fingers. they're big enough to be noticeable but small enough to be covered by their actual wedding bands.

So, I used to love bangel sooooo much when i first watched the show. I was 100% into it, (with a crush for Boreanaz too) and i cried so much for them in s2 and when Angel left the show in s3. And I truly, sincerely, unironically hated Spike too (I thought he was a great character but i just loved hating him, you know? Lol). When we saw Spike's dream of kissing Buffy I swear i felt nauseous.

... and then they aired Fool for love.

By the end of that episode I was left in utter existential crisis in front of my tv because i felt my whole world shift. There was a part of me that still liked Angel and Buffy, but there was also this new part that wanted her to be with Spike now.

So anyway, that's when i decided to switch teams and i became team spuffy, and for as much as i had been obsessed with bangel before, it was nothing compared to how deep i was caught into the Buffy and Spike relationship. I never looked back. They were just much more complex and real and compelling. And it made me reevaluate Angel and her relationship with him too. Angel never really knew Buffy, always treated her like a child, and let's be honest--and that's something that hit me only years later when I got older--she was a child when they were together. He was spying on her and falling in love with her when she was just fifteen years old and he was a 240-year-old vampire who had been sired at like 26 years old, and they got together when she was 16/17 and he broke up with her when she turned 18... I don't think that's something the writers did intentionally of course, because (as everything else in buffy) it's just meant to be taken as a metaphor for the ideals and struggles and the intensity of drama of a girl's first love, but it still comes off as icky.

And before anyone comes at me, I know spuffy isn't healthy either, but that's kinda the point and the appeal. First of all, it's fiction and a metaphor, and secondly, it's about two broken people that are supposed to be mortal enemies but are actually two sides of the same coin, so different and yet so much the same, who can understand each other as a whole, light and darkness, in a way that no one else ever could, who yes, hurt each other along the way, but whose love saved them from the deepest darkness, ultimately bringing them into the light.

This is what spuffy is to me, and this is why i think it's not only the superior ship, but one of the best ships of all time (thee best, until i saw destiel, now they're sharing the podium).

So anyway, to get back to your question, the moment i became obsessed with Buffy and Spike (and i have been ever since 2005, lmao, they've been my first real obsession, alongside btvs, until spn and destiel) Angel sort of became the enemy 😅. And I hated him so so so so so much when he appeared in 7x21 and kissed Buffy (pure fanservice, but okay) and brought the medallion that ultimately killed Spike. So i spent years very maturely holding my vendetta against Angel (like, rooting for every demon that fought against him when I watched Angel, lmaoo). In most recent years, I've (sort of) made my peace with the character, after rewatching Angel. I mean he's still the enemy (of course, duh!! Who am i if not eternally petty??) but i appreciate him in his own show.

So i don't ship Angel and Buffy anymore, but I can understand why someone would (as i myself used to), and more importantly, i respect other people's right to ship them.

If we're joking, I'm going to insult Angel and keep saying he's the enemy. But on a mature serious note, I think Buffy and Angel were a great first love (for Buffy), but they were supposed to be just that, the impossible teenage girl's dream of a first love, eternal but doomed to end and break your heart.

I think Angel was much more well paired with Cordelia (which is something I'd never think I'd say), and i found myself shipping them so much when I rewatched the show. It felt so much more mature and profound than what we saw with Buffy and Angel (and that's probably due to the fact that we got slow burn for them - as we did for Buffy and Spike- and could actually see the feelings growing, while Buffy crushed on Angel in the pilot and she was madly in love (as teenagers do) in 0.5 seconds for no apparent reason than the fact that he was hot and mysterious.

So when I say the kiss in btvs 7x21 makes zero sense, I'm not just talking about spuffy, but also about cangel. I feel like both characters parted ways and lived on in their own shows to grow and become their own persons, developing other relationships that were more adult and meaningful, and that kiss was just disrespectful for both (but anyways, it doesn't change anything).

I have so many thoughts about all this honestly, and I hope I haven't gone too much off the tangent with my reply, but i couldn't just give you a simple reply because that would've had to be something like "angel is the enemy and i don't like bangel" but as you can see my thoughts are a little more complex than that 😅

4. Does your character care about their reputation and/or how others perceive them?

yes! it matters a lot to them, perhaps to an unhealthy extent – they want to be liked, and will adjust their personality accordingly till they’ve become more settled with a person. there are very few people that iovitus feels they can really be their truest self around. they’ve become quite good at pretending to be someone they’re not

15. What habits does your character have?

iovitus has a lot of unconventional habits, and they especially come out when iovitus is nervous – which is often. most are subconscious, such as tugging at their ears, muttering/mumbling under their breath, and talking in their sleep. aside from that, iovitus is a bit of a nicotine (and zaza but we dont need to get into that) addict and smokes frequently, especially when they’re feeling down or need to soothe their nerves.

31. What genre of music does/would your character love?

they dont listen to a lot of music anymore, but when they do its a mixture of punk/nu-metal/heavy metal – it’s what they grew up with! they’re not particularly picky, however, and generally will listen to whatever is playing at the time. music is not something iovitus is all that connected to.

39. What does your character have yet to realize about themselves?

that they need to freakin GROW UP and move past their dead warband/girlfriend dude holy moly they guilt themselves so bad over it and suffer for no reason

46. Does your character specialize or have remarkable talent in anything? If so, what is it?

as a ranger, iovitus has a natural skill with animals of all types! this wasn’t something they discovered about themselves till after they’d left their legion life behind, as before the only animals they really were in contact with was the raptors/other mounts belonging to their bandmates. aside from that, iovitus is exceptionally skilled at weapon-based combat, though they don’t enjoy flaunting their skills unless working or absolutely necessary.

hhummmm. neither? she’s more of a realist, seeing things as they are and not allowing herself to feel strongly one way or the other about it. i suppose if i had to choose she’s more of a pessimist, but it’s not like ruckus actively seeks out the bad side of everything

10. If your character is an antagonist or something of the like, do they self-justify their actions? If so, how?

she doesn’t feel the need to justify anything for anyone. she’s lived a hard life filled with bloodshed and pain and whatever other horrible things legion life provides, and does things more for herself than anything else. ruckus generally doesn’t feel guilt for the things she’s done as both a legionnaire and a pirate, even if they're morally wrong or illegal. it’s her freakin’ life after all

ruckus doesn’t think about herself very often, because it generally leads to her feeling sorry for herself and other emotions the legions taught her should be squandered. due to her rocky past romances and failure to properly connect with anyone on a meaningful level, ruckus thinks she isn’t really cut out for or deserving of any love that lasts. not that she’d let anyone know, though! she’s not a loser, she’s cool and awesome and feels nothing

32. How does your character view their past?

hmm. i think she holds a bit of pride in her past, seeing as she was once a well-respected legionnaire – nowadays, though, most of ruckus’ views on legion life as a whole are skewed. she only seems to recognize her failures as a leader and can’t come to accept the actual good she’s done, likely due to the fact that her current pirate lifestyle has gotten her into a bit of hot water with her centurion.

2. How does the public view them?

i don’t think the public has much of a view on nero. he’s just another soldier in a forgotten warband. it doesn’t help that he rarely, if ever, speaks to anyone outside of his warband – in fact, the only thing of note that he actively does is seek out his two cubs and participate in their life as much as he can. for the most part, though, nero is a faceless entity.

16. What is your character's relationship with their family?

good – or at least better than most other charr! though she doesn’t keep in contact with her parents/siblings, nero does spend a lot of time with her two twin cubs, patina and faust. their dam isn’t very interested in keeping in touch with them, but nero’s fine with that! she doesn’t get to do it very often, as her warband’s work keeps her occupied majority of the time or she’s too far away to travel to their fahrar. 

19. Summarize your character's goals in one sentence.

to earn a fat paycheck AMENNNN!!!! 

24. From childhood to their current age, how has your character changed?

as a cub, nero was still very reclusive and withdrawn from others, which is a trait of his that has carried into his adult life. he was maybe a little bit more talkative, but quickly learned that he generally was unwelcome in most conversations. after graduating from the fahrar and experiencing the wonderful things that war and elder dragons have to offer, nero developed a lot of anxiety and fearfulness – he keeps it hidden, however, as he was taught to do so growing up. it’s just how life is and it’s so normal to see death in everything isnt it 😊

34. What are three negative traits that your character has?

nero isn’t really a shy person, but he has very poor social skills and is selectively mute. he can communicate through sign language and a series of noises/body language only discernible to the members of his ‘band, but otherwise doesn’t talk to people he doesn’t know. he isn’t an airhead, but he also can get distracted relatively easily and may need a bit of assistance refocusing on the task at hand as well!

Hi! I swear I don't mean to be annoying but genuinely curious what's the difference between Paul fans praising Paul in a post vs say, fans of any other beatle. Is it the overt defensiveness? Also, isn't reiterating Paul's sins every time kind of being like the 'John beet wif' meme everytime there's positive discussion re the band/John ?

Don't worry, you're not annoying, but I was planning on deleting this (frankly I delete most of the asks I get from Paul girls) until I realized you're (perhaps unintentionally) coming very close to a legitimate point. Also, I get the feeling that you're genuinely interested in an answer, which is always nice.

That being said, I do want to point out that I never said I have a problem with people praising Paul. If you follow this blog, I praise him a lot. I very specifically said I have a problem with people being "delusional and defensive about celebrities," and the fact that you translated this to "praising Paul" honestly raises an interesting point, but also imho seems like a very harsh perspective on him. There are so many wonderful things to say about Paul that are not remotely unreasonable, because there are many wonderful things about him as a human being.

Also, "bringing up Paul's sins" was actually a comment from a reblog, and while I think they also make a good point it's separate from what I originally said. What I said is that it's frustrating that delusional and defensive behavior from stans brings out negativity towards the celebrity when the celebrity themselves did nothing wrong, and that this is really prevalent in discussion around Paul because in the mainstream Beatles narrative he's usually the hero to John's villain.

All that aside, where I think you're very nearly making a good point is where you compare this to discussing John's history of violence.

The tendency to black-and-white people is present in every conversation, it's just part of how we speak as a culture (or possibly as a species). I like to call it the AITA mentality – the tendency to approach situations from the perspective of “who's the bad guy?” rather than actually trying to draw insight and understand the motivations, emotions, schemas, and experiences involved. (Not that r/AITA invented this mentality, but they did crystallize it into an acronym.) In this fandom that's usually Paul as a kind of heroic victim and John as pitifully evil, which is itself arguably (partly) a delayed reaction to unfair criticism of Paul in the past. It does both men a terrible disservice, converting them into one-dimensional caricatures rather than real, fascinating people.

Reversing this mentality to “Paul was the real villain actually” would very much be unreasonable, which is ironically the exact point of my original post, but the larger point is that the way stan culture poisons any meaningful discussion of a major historical figure by calling it “bashing” to acknowledge actions/beliefs/experiences that conflict with a black-and-white narrative is genuinely sad and frustrating. It makes it hard for people who are legitimately interested in them to have a conversation, and is in my experience a much more prevalent issue than people pushing back by bringing up things that shatter the one-dimensional image.

In regards to John specifically, it would indeed be impossible to understand him without taking into account the predilection to violence that defined so much of his early life and helped develop his belief system, and that's a point that he himself made multiple times. I don't really care for the condescending "John beet wif" characterization of people who acknowledge this, or even people who are disturbed by it. I've said many times that there are valid reasons to condemn everyone in this story. When I say there's a lack of nuance, I don't mean we need to ignore the real harm that John, Paul, George, and Ringo all caused. That's not nuance. Nuance is acknowledging how and why they came to that point, that it was one facet of a larger and more complex character, and trying to develop insight into their social roles and perspectives without trying to snap them into preset hero or villain roles.

And your bringing up John's history of violence was (ironically) a very illustrative example, because he himself was so insistent on it being acknowledged. He did not want to be spoken about in black-and-white terms, not even if it meant being heroized, so it's unnecessary and counterproductive to demand that he should be. Positivity about the band can -- and indeed must -- coexist with knowledge of who they were as full, complete human beings. It's sometimes hard and disillusioning, I get that, but it's just so fucking essential.

Definitely Haymitch as well, he would love being called 'Papa', and he's very overprotective (but would never admit it) he always wants you to hold his hand, and he likes to have you sit in his lap !

Sejanus would be a flip as well, and a very soft cg. He like's being called 'Bubba' and 'Dada', and would do anything to see his baby giggle and smile.

Lucy Gray would also be a soft cg, but would give you soft reminders to drink water and eat. She would love to take you on walks, and she makes you flower crowns and sings you lullabies !!!

What if the eclipse rape didn't happen, but Casca still survived somehow and retained her sanity? Do you think she'd follow Guts in his quest for revenge or carve her own, distinct path? How would her opinion on Griffith shift, would she hate him/deeply resent him/try to understand him/a mix of everything?

To be honest, I'm more interested in how you think this scenario should play out in order to feel satisfactory than in how Miura would've handled it, because I really dislike his portrayal of Casca post-eclipse. Also, there's a sequence leaving rent free in my head of Casca being mad and yelling at Griffith for sacrificing the Hawks and basically betraying the blind trust she had put on him and shattering her whole worldview in the process lol. Without Miura silencing her and the eclipse rape taking away her dignity and virtually destroying any hope for a fulfilling future interaction with Griffith, she would've had a solid chance to grow and develop really interesting changing dynamics with our two protagonists, and it's a shame it was stunted...

For me, when it comes to what I'd want to read or write in this scenario, I think Casca should go her own way and separate herself from Guts. Partly for worldbuilding-logistics reasons, actually - two branded sacrifices can't stay in the same place for long without majorly fucking up that place, as we saw in the Conviction arc.

But mainly because I like the idea of the two of them separating and doing their own thing, and I think it would work with the themes. Like the story could use their two characters to explore differing reactions to trauma - the healthy and the unhealthy. The making connections with other people and growing reaction, and the killing stuff as a coping mechanism reaction. Guts and Casca would essentially be foils for each other.

Unfortunately Casca's stuck with the less fun healthy reaction lol because only the unhealthy gets to be mired in fucked up homoeroticism with Griffith and I'm unwilling to sacrifice that for the sake of a more interesting female character.

So with that division, it would make sense for the narrative to divide the behelit and the armour between them, and in this case Casca should get the armour while Guts gets the behelit. The armour is in a way a test of self control and you can be pulled back from succumbing to it, while the behelit is a one and done monsterizing device, so the armour goes to the healthier one. Casca also collects friends in this scenario while Guts miserably Black Swordsmans around (Farnesca, anyone?)

So ultimately Guts gets my ideal post-Eclipse arc of obsessing over revenge/equality with Griffith and eventually becoming a monster just like him, whereupon maybe one or both die, or maybe Guts ironically rejoins him in a homoerotic "tragic" ending for him 😏

And Casca kind of gets Guts' Millenium Falcon arc through which the story reiterates the importance of relationships, where she wrestles with her own inner darkness but grows past the need for revenge and turns to other goals.

And then maybe her story intersects with Guts and Griffith's in that Griffith needs to be stopped to save the world from dragons or whatever so she allies with various people and does that, and is able to succeed specifically because she's not obsessed with revenge and can keep her head or something like that. Yk, like she uses the armour but is able to come back from it. Whatever.

I don't know or really care what the climax would be here. Does she kill Griff and maybe Guts too? Does she serve as a distraction while a magic thing happens? Or maybe they're reverting the world back to low fantasy and it has nothing directly to do with Griffith and Falconia and she has to slay a dragon or something. Idk, point is she gets a moment to be badass and maybe be tempted by a monsterizing power-up but doesn't succumb to it.

Anyway yeah, idk I'm not super imaginative so my answer is basically "Berserk but Casca gets Guts' role and Guts gets to be gayer" lol. But that said, I would love to see Casca get to express her feelings so yeah that also fits into my thoughts here. Maybe she doesn't directly yell at Griffith but rather tells someone else about what happened and how fucked up it was? Or maybe she gets a Hill of Swords style reunion as well and does get to scream at Griff. It'd be nice. I do think that, in the brief amount of time we saw both her and Guts after the sacrifice and before the Eclipse rape, she was angrier with Griffith than he was.

Kitty is a thrice married (twice divorced?) forty-something year old realtor, primarily selling homes around Calico City and Clover Hills. She loves wine, gossip, and pulp romance novels. She's a bit messy, and a bit flirty, but she has a good heart... if only she'd listen to it from time to time!

Kitty's always wanted to settle down and start a family. Unfortunately, she can never seem to find the right guy, and she's struggled with fertility in the past, so she's afraid those domestic dreams simply aren't in the cards for her. To make up for her lack of a daughter, she's taken on a more maternal role in caring for her misguided niece, Sylvia. Kitty might not be the best role model for Sylvia, what with her hedonistic lifestyle and frequent rotating gentlemen callers, but she's certainly done a better job of raising her niece than Sylvia's actual parents. Perhaps, in spite of how she feels about herself, she might actually be decent mother material after all...?

You know, usually when people trot out the "oh, they've brought in some outside team that's reviewing every second of camera footage and access requests and the snapshot of my dick I sent to the intern that should have been deleted from the media server" it's like, okay and who's paying for that, right? Like don't get me wrong, it's nice to have that sort of reputation, but there's not enough room on that fucking air carrier for that kind of operation, and where are they? I mean sure, turnover is high lately after... all of that, but c'mon it's not like they actually cleared out whole departments, someone would have noticed. Have you seen the numbers lately? As fast as those little fucking Millipedes scurry in (here, the rapid fluttering of metal finger joints approximates the sound of hundreds of insect legs), they get rooted out- and yeah, some of them are pretty obvious new plants or quiet fuckers getting greedy, but twice this week I've seen the paperwork for someone I'm not sure I would have caught unless I happened to be watching them 24/7. If you ask me, it's not some team it's some new AI, one that actually works instead of flagging some poor saps who just happen to be- well, you know. Hey, it could happen! I'm getting another beer, you need anything?

Do you have playlists for any of your characters? Or do they have a favourite song/songs?

While I don't have specific playlists for specific characters, I do have two playlists that're both about 80% made up of songs that I associate with my characters, titled "i couldnt explain if i wanted to" and "songs to be autistic about". Whether that be songs they as a character would like, or songs that fit their characters, or even just songs that sorta make me think of them!

For example, there are a lot of tally hall/ Miracle Musical songs I associate with the kindness soul because I saw a post that says "kill them with kindness? Wrong! Fall inside a hole you couldn't see" in reference to the song "the mind electric" and the "kindness" and "fall inside a hole" made me think like "holy shit I know that guy" now I headcanon her singing voice sounding like "murders"

And part of my characterisation for her is liking tally hall

A different example would be "barracuda" by Heart which makes me think of my OC morgan for no particular reason. It's just the ✨️vibes✨️ of the song, and partly just the title that make me think "yes." It's just a very morgan song I can't explain it

Another morgan song I have is "happy stutter". There's legitimately no association to it with them idk why it does make me think if them but its true

"Keep up" by karma carr is another kindness song (looking at it a lot of the songs I have saved are just these two lol). Another one that I just don't even know lol 🤷🏾‍♀️

"The magic number" by de la soul is morgan but only 33% (three IS the magic number)
