4. Does your character care about their reputation and/or how others perceive them?

yes! it matters a lot to them, perhaps to an unhealthy extent – they want to be liked, and will adjust their personality accordingly till they’ve become more settled with a person. there are very few people that iovitus feels they can really be their truest self around. they’ve become quite good at pretending to be someone they’re not

15. What habits does your character have?

iovitus has a lot of unconventional habits, and they especially come out when iovitus is nervous – which is often. most are subconscious, such as tugging at their ears, muttering/mumbling under their breath, and talking in their sleep. aside from that, iovitus is a bit of a nicotine (and zaza but we dont need to get into that) addict and smokes frequently, especially when they’re feeling down or need to soothe their nerves.

31. What genre of music does/would your character love?

they dont listen to a lot of music anymore, but when they do its a mixture of punk/nu-metal/heavy metal – it’s what they grew up with! they’re not particularly picky, however, and generally will listen to whatever is playing at the time. music is not something iovitus is all that connected to.

39. What does your character have yet to realize about themselves?

that they need to freakin GROW UP and move past their dead warband/girlfriend dude holy moly they guilt themselves so bad over it and suffer for no reason

46. Does your character specialize or have remarkable talent in anything? If so, what is it?

as a ranger, iovitus has a natural skill with animals of all types! this wasn’t something they discovered about themselves till after they’d left their legion life behind, as before the only animals they really were in contact with was the raptors/other mounts belonging to their bandmates. aside from that, iovitus is exceptionally skilled at weapon-based combat, though they don’t enjoy flaunting their skills unless working or absolutely necessary.

3. Is your character an optimist or pessimist? 

hhummmm. neither? she’s more of a realist, seeing things as they are and not allowing herself to feel strongly one way or the other about it. i suppose if i had to choose she’s more of a pessimist, but it’s not like ruckus actively seeks out the bad side of everything

10. If your character is an antagonist or something of the like, do they self-justify their actions? If so, how?

she doesn’t feel the need to justify anything for anyone. she’s lived a hard life filled with bloodshed and pain and whatever other horrible things legion life provides, and does things more for herself than anything else. ruckus generally doesn’t feel guilt for the things she’s done as both a legionnaire and a pirate, even if they're morally wrong or illegal. it’s her freakin’ life after all

27. How does your character view themselves? 

ruckus doesn’t think about herself very often, because it generally leads to her feeling sorry for herself and other emotions the legions taught her should be squandered. due to her rocky past romances and failure to properly connect with anyone on a meaningful level, ruckus thinks she isn’t really cut out for or deserving of any love that lasts. not that she’d let anyone know, though! she’s not a loser, she’s cool and awesome and feels nothing

32. How does your character view their past?

hmm. i think she holds a bit of pride in her past, seeing as she was once a well-respected legionnaire – nowadays, though, most of ruckus’ views on legion life as a whole are skewed. she only seems to recognize her failures as a leader and can’t come to accept the actual good she’s done, likely due to the fact that her current pirate lifestyle has gotten her into a bit of hot water with her centurion.

2. How does the public view them?

i don’t think the public has much of a view on nero. he’s just another soldier in a forgotten warband. it doesn’t help that he rarely, if ever, speaks to anyone outside of his warband – in fact, the only thing of note that he actively does is seek out his two cubs and participate in their life as much as he can. for the most part, though, nero is a faceless entity.

16. What is your character's relationship with their family?

good – or at least better than most other charr! though she doesn’t keep in contact with her parents/siblings, nero does spend a lot of time with her two twin cubs, patina and faust. their dam isn’t very interested in keeping in touch with them, but nero’s fine with that! she doesn’t get to do it very often, as her warband’s work keeps her occupied majority of the time or she’s too far away to travel to their fahrar.

to earn a fat paycheck AMENNNN!!!! 

24. From childhood to their current age, how has your character changed?

as a cub, nero was still very reclusive and withdrawn from others, which is a trait of his that has carried into his adult life. he was maybe a little bit more talkative, but quickly learned that he generally was unwelcome in most conversations. after graduating from the fahrar and experiencing the wonderful things that war and elder dragons have to offer, nero developed a lot of anxiety and fearfulness – he keeps it hidden, however, as he was taught to do so growing up. it’s just how life is and it’s so normal to see death in everything isnt it 😊

34. What are three negative traits that your character has?

nero isn’t really a shy person, but he has very poor social skills and is selectively mute. he can communicate through sign language and a series of noises/body language only discernible to the members of his ‘band, but otherwise doesn’t talk to people he doesn’t know. he isn’t an airhead, but he also can get distracted relatively easily and may need a bit of assistance refocusing on the task at hand as well!

absolutely i can!

so, lia windwalker is a current-standing centurion for the blood legion. she’s cunning, sly, and enjoys getting under people’s skin. she wasn’t always this way – in her younger years, she was your standard patriotic charr, doing what was asked of her in the name of the legion without question. she was much more friendly, too, though she’s always been very inquisitive and intelligent. however, after losing a lot of the people around her and generally just suffering in legion life, lia became a lot more closed-off and keeps people at an arm's length; she’s still social and enjoys talking to people, but she’s much more secretive when it comes to herself. lia's patriotism and love for her legion has depleted, too, but she still takes pride in her heritage – just not as much as the did in her youth.

currently, lia’s spending her time in divinity’s reach, looking for a quiet place to settle and retire. retirement wasn’t her original plan for her life; ideally, as is with most charr, she’d have liked to die in some heroic battle maneuver, but she was just too good on the field to die in such  a way. if things were going lia’s way, she’d still be out fighting whatever nonsense the legions tossed her way, but.. things got complicated when iovitus – her cub – was expelled from the legions. her fellow centurions & the legionnaires that served under her were much more critical of lia’s behavior and questioned her skills, and the pressure was mounting for her to step down or retire. at her age (she’s in her late fifties/early sixties ish) she figured retirement was probably the easier of the two choices. lia also couldn’t bear the shame of stepping down from her post, and hoped retirement would look better on her records. 

iovitus and lia’s relationship is complicated at best. they were close when iovitus was younger – they were/are lia’s only surviving cub, and lia wanted to ensure their education was the best it could be. iovitus’ time spent in and out of the infirmary called lia to visit them often, and when that wasn’t an option, the two of them would exchange letters frequently. following iovitus’ expulsion from the legions, though, lia felt as though they personally had betrayed her, and they fell out hard. any attempt iovitus made to recoup their relationship usually earned them a sharply-worded letter detailing how much lia wishes she'd never had them. thanks, mom!

heres a few miscellaneous fun facts about our beloved meemaw:

the left side of lia’s body and her entire left arm were burned severely in a fight against flame legion loyalists (details pending). she can still use her arm, but its lost all its fur and moves very stiffly.

she likes to wear rings & decorate her horns with gold inlays. she doesn’t wear them out very often, as most of the time she’s wearing a set of heavy armor, but she does enjoy jewelry from time to time.

her surname, windwalker, was stolen from a httyd dragon…. sorry guys

after iovitus’ father died, she never took to another partner, losing all interest in romance. she did not have any cubs after iovitus, either

she’s short. taller than iovitus cause theyre like a little shrimp, but still short

as someone w learning disabilities i think asura that dont fit the mold of hyper intelligent are so incredibly fascinating and i wish to see more of them

trans people are so awesome and i don’t feel like there’s a lot of trans/enby characters in the rp community, but i do see quite a bit on tumblr… so id love to hear all about yours!

For all OCs you want: do they have any belonging they'd never get rid of? Why? What would they do if it got stolen?

a handful of my characters do have particular items they are very sentimental about! for most of them, it’s not a particularly big part of their character, nor is it brought up very often, but it is fun to think about!

iovitus always carries a braided lock of their dead partner’s fur on them, usually in their satchel. they don’t show or talk to anyone about it, though not for any specific reason; it’s just the only part of her that they have left, and so they are very cautious and protective of it. iovitus doesn’t even really look at it themselves anymore unless they’re alone and are feeling especially angsty. if it were to be stolen or lost, they’d be unreasonably upset and spend days searching for it – eventually, though, they’d give up hope and accept it as lost, though it would always be at the back of their mind. 

for nero, his belonging is something that can’t quite be concealed or hidden very easily – it’s his jade bot! lovingly dubbed “stickers” (or, more commonly, “sticky”), the bot was constructed from salvaged bits and pieces that nero himself found in areas ravaged by dragonspawn. nero, being an engineer, was very quick to pick up how jade bots function and crafted one of his own from the recovered parts. originally, he wasn’t planning to keep the bot and was instead going to send it off to his cubs’ fahrar as a sort of nanny-bot, but their primus wasn’t particularly thrilled about it, for whatever reason…. sticky now functions as a combat & domestic aid, and earned its moniker from the number of stickers nero’s kids plastered all over it in the very, very short period of time they were around the bot. if stolen, nero would be upset, but not devastated. he can simply find new parts and build a bigger, better bot. the stickers can’t be replaced, though…:(

lia pretends she doesn't care about any of her belongings. she’s quite wealthy and not afraid to show it, donning expensive-looking armors and jewelries and decking out her living space with all manner of extravagant items – most of these are replaceable, and she would not care if anything were to happen to them. that being said, though, tucked hidden away amongst lia’s trinkets is a tiny, scuffed-looking framed photo. the frame itself is hand-crafted out of popsicle sticks, drenched in glitter, horribly painted, and has bits of dry, crackled pasta glued to it – undoubtedly the work of a cub, and something that lia’s too stubborn to part with. i don't know why anyone would want to steal this horrible thing, but if they were too, lia would simply shrug it off and act as if it meant nothing to her in the first place. she would be sad, though, just internally, and then she’d repress the hell out of those feelings. what's the photo of? who knows!
