fem!reader saccharine
Billy knows your whole thing is being one big tease to him, to other too, but mostly him, and he is close to losing it.
He already had a rough morning after getting barely any sleep. Why, he wasn't sure, but the heaviness in his head was weighing down on his day from the very start. He forgot to pay the innkeeper, borrowing money from Jesse to pay off his room, but now he owed Jesse money. Billy planned on going to the saloon later that day to play poker, but he was dreading it. He knew his tiredness would make it harder for him to play and play well at that. Most of the gang left him alone, seeing the permanent furrow in his brow and the way his shirt wasn't even buttoned right, it was clear it was an off day for him.
But then there was you. You knew he was having a bad day, but you couldn't help it. You always teased him and he always bit back. Not as hard as you would hope, but the game was always a thing. You follow him around that day, having nothing of importance to do for yourself.
He thought it akin to a puppy following you around and every time he turned and saw your smiling face, he'd roll his eyes, his jaw clenching so tight, you were sure he was gonna break his teeth any minute.
"Bonney, do you think I'd look better with your hat?" You run up to catch up to him as he walks.
"No," he replies, his eyes looking anywhere but you.
"Really? Cause I was thinkin'-"
"Can you stop followin' me?" Billy interrupts, his gaze still ahead, so he misses your eye-roll.
"Listen, I have nothin' else to do so I-"
"Well, 'm goin' to take a piss, so I don't think you should follow me," he says, his tone sharp and he looks at you, giving you the quickest, fakest smile he could have. It only brightened your grin.
"Oh, c'mon, I'll just look the other way, I've been around you guys far too long to get weird about that," you tell him, and he seems to know it's the truth, he can’t fight it. He shakes his head. "Leave," and he points back to where his and your horses were.
You're not that easy. Billy knows it too, but he prays to God that you'll see how annoyed he is in this moment and how he wants his time alone. You poke his arm, then jab your elbow at him, "I think I'll stay with you, Bonney."
"I need-"
"I can keep quiet if that's what you really want, but I think it's best if I stick around, what if-"
"Will you just shut up?!" His voice raises, stilling his walking to turn fully towards you. Your eyes are widened a little, but you don't answer his question.
"There's no way in hell you can keep quiet, 'cause all you do is talk. You bother me so much like...," he trails off, then lets out a harsh chuckle, swallowing his words before he spits them out at you, "you're...you're like a pest. I don't get it one bit how anyone likes you. ‘M…’m done with it, I can’t I…you really are a fuckin’ pest.”
His words sink into you. It stings, though you know he's got merit to his words. That you shouldn't have bothered him as much as you were today, that you should have just left when he told you to, but you thought it as much a game as playing poker would be. But Billy is fuming. You can see the anger in his eyes, the way his words rolled harsh on his tongue, the only time you've heard him speak like that was to people the gang was rivaling.
It's hard to stop the tears from welling in your eyes. Your chest burns and you feel the familiar ache in your heart. You try to stop it, but you've never been very good at that. "Pest...okay. 'M sorry, Billy," you say, your voice breaking on his name as your tears start to stream, falling to your cheeks as you sniffle. Once it’s starts, you know you really can’t stop it. You turn your heel and walk away from him. Part of you didn't want him to see that side of you, but it was also too late. Billy's heart drops at the sight. His words echo in his own head, realizing how bad they sound. "Shit, wait," he says, but you keep walking.
Billy's shoulder slump. He's never seen you cry, let alone speak so quietly. He was beginning to think nothing ever upset you until now. He knows he lashed out, but he hopes you at the very least understand why he did. However, to him, he knows he shouldn't have said that. You're a piece of glue for the gang, even he could admit that. Your pure nature was friendly, he knows why people like you so much, but he still said what he said. He thinks about going after you, but he can't. His feet are stuck to the ground as he swallows the lump in his throat.
"Shit," he mumbles to himself, rubbing his hand over his face, pinching at the bridge of his nose.
let's chat about billy, here :)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Leo had never actually been to this basketball court before, he knew of it, had maybe seen it in passing a few times but it was always too busy.
Too risky.
But today that wasn't an issue, he didn't have to worry about getting confused glances from others, today he was one of them. He had the cloaching brooch safely tucked under his hoodie, fidgeting with it from time to time from a mix of anxiousness and excitement.
He knew this was a pretty popular park for teens his age, it was mostly students who hung out here and it didn't take much for him to start making a friend or two. His basketball skills were flawless, using his best moves to win over a couple kids at the park was definitely helping his ego.
Though he made sure to keep an eye out for Y/N, knowing that they hung around here sometimes, they'd have to show up some time soon.
Meanwhile he could just keep embracing being a cool ass human. Lev was the name he'd given himself, it would've been insanely obvious if he'd kept his own name, he wasn't that stupid. It had felt weird at first, introducing himself as someone he wasn't. But he couldn't deny that it was beginning to grow on him as he heard other people use it.
Leo, or rather, Lev let out a satisfied huff as he confidently passed the ball, still riding this confidence boost. He looked amazing and his charms were working on everyone! Just wait until Y/N sees him now.
"Ow!"
A basketball in the face.
That was the cherry on top of Y/N's crappy day.
As if they hadn't already regrettably slept through their alarm that morning, which made them miss their school bus and forget their lunch. Then once they had finally arrived to class, their teacher had decided to give them a surprise test that they knew they'd flunked. Now they had to suffer the embarrassment of a basketball being thrown their direction.
Unlucky.
They cringed at the pain bringing their hands up to their face. The stray ball had hit them hard, but luckily no blood stained their hands.
"Oh mi gosh! I'm so so sorry- Are you okay?" A voice asked, from afar.
"Yeah... I'm okay just a bit-" Y/N hesitated as they finally met the concerned strangers gaze, "-dizzy..."
As they looked up to him he was giving them a sense of deja vú. His apologetic expression gave off a sort of familiarity but they couldn't exactly place it. Maybe it was the dizziness they were feeling from the impact of the ball, but the soft look of concern across his face made their heart flutter a little.
"Hey? Hello? Still with me?" He asked anxiously.
Y/N blinked realising they'd just been staring blankly up at the worried stranger, his voice snapping them back to reality.
"Yes- yep- I'm still here." They assured sheepishly in reply, glancing away.
He let out a relived sigh before chuckling softly, "Lost you for a second there huh? I don't blame you, that was a hell of a hit," His voice was calm with a friendly air to it, weirdly comforting though again that may have been due to the head trauma.
"You sure you're okay?" He asked again.
"I'm alright," They assured, the dizzy sensation leaving them for now, "Only thing bruised is my ego."
He let out a small chuckle, glad to hear them sounding alright.
"I'm sure your ego will recover soon enough," he smiled, "Luckily, I don't see a scratch. Phew, wouldn't want to hurt such a pretty face."
They blinked at the sudden compliment, the words echoing in their still slightly dizzy head, unsure if he was being serious or not.
"Pfft- are you trying to make me forget that you just almost gave me a concussion?"
"Me? I would never..." He hesitates, glancing away sheepishly as they call him out, "But, if I was... would it work?"
They roll their eyes in a playful manner and shrug, "Maybe try starting with an apology."
He chuckled, as they playfully chastised him.
"Right, right,"
He smiled sincerely, a mix of embarrassed and genuinely sorry, jokingly getting onto his knees.
"I humbly apologise to..." He glanced up to them, prompting for their name.
"Y/N."
"I humbly apologise to Y/N, for accidentally launching a basketball into your pretty face," He finished, his tone light-hearted, though they could tell there was a hint of sincerity behind his humor.
"Seriously though, I am sorry, I'm not really used to playing basketball with such a large audience." He admitted gesturing to the court, sheepishly rubbing the back of his neck as he stood up straight.
"Don't worry about it," They replied calmly, pretty charmed by his playful attitude.
As they looked back to him, something about his face felt weird. Like they'd met before, however as much as they tried Y/N just couldn't place him.
"You know... I don't think I've seen you around here before, what's your name?"
He looked surprised for a moment, a flicker of panic crossing his face before he quickly schooled his expression into a casual smile.
"Lev, I'm Lev."
"It's weird, I feel like I kn-" Y/N's words were immediately interrupted by a sudden hit of pain, apparently this concussion decided to have a delay, "Ow- ow!" They winced, clutching their head.
Lev immediately took notice of Y/N winced in pain, his concern growing tenfold. "Hey, take it easy. You took a pretty hard hit."
He gently placed a hand on their shoulder, trying to steady them, "Are you okay? Should I go grab ice?"
Y/N bit their lip as they tried to deal with the pain. The world around them started to seem a little too bright and they squeezed their eyes shut.
"Y-yeah, yeah I'm fine-" They murmured, their voice shaking slightly, "Ice would be good."
Lev nodded, quickly standing up his mind racing as he did. What a way to make a first impression, 'Hey Y/N here's a bonk on the head, wanna go out with me?' he was such an idiot! He instinctively went to grab his odachi but paused as he realized it wasn't there.
Right.
Leo had the odachi, he wasn't Leo right now he was Lev.
~
Lev had offered to walk them home during the commotion, he figured it was just a headache from the impact but he wanted to be completely sure they were okay.
As well as take the opportunity to talk with them.
Y/N was steadying their breath, pressing cold bags of store bought ice against their forehead. The pain was slowly numbing while the pair took a seat on the steps outside their apartment block.
Y/N didn't understand why but Lev clicked so easily with them, they were always on the same page.
It was refreshing to actually relate to someone for once.
"And after all that, she decides to throw a surprise test at us! Last time I checked, surprises are supposed to be fun," They huffed angrily, "Ugh, I'm sorry for throwing all this your way."
"Hey, don't worry about it. Sometimes you just need to let it all out, y'know?" Lev offered, a gentle smile across his face, "Besides, I threw a basketball at you, you're just returning the favour."
"Pfft, I didn't think of it like that." They admitted with a chuckle.
A warm smile slowly started to form on their lips, this stranger had made them laugh today even after everything else that had happened.
Who knew that all it took was getting hit in the head with a basketball?
"You know, I'm honestly kind of surprised that you've been this patient." They noted with a light chuckle, "Most people don't like listening to whining."
"Well..." Lev hummed, hesitating a little before he finished his sentence, "I'm not like most people."
Y/N lifted an eyebrow, a curious look spreading across their face, "Oh? And how's that?" They asked, their curiosity piqued, "Are you a vampire or something, stranger?"
"Pssh, first of all vampires are a total scam," He replied with a laugh, "What's the point of being sexy for all eternity without being able to see your reflection?"
Y/N grinned, a laugh escaping as his response, "Sounds like someone talking from experience."
He simply rolled his eyes softly, "And second, stop calling me stranger my name is Lev you know."
"Well, you are technically a stranger."
"Come on, we're at 'basketball bonking' levels of friendship." He retorted with a playful tone.
"Ooh, nice alliteration." They teased smugly in reply.
Lev's expression brightened, smiling hopefully back at them, "Nice enough for me to be a friend?"
Y/N pretended to consider it for a moment, they hummed thoughtfully before finally shrugging and nodding,
"An acquaintance." They answered with a smirk.
"Ahh, there's no winning with you." Lev sighed in mock offence.
"What can I say," They grinned teasingly "I'm hard to please."
A bit of water began to drip down Y/N's face, the ice was melting quickly.
"Doesn't seem like that ice is going to last a while."
Y/N frowned as they noticed some of the cold water trickle down their face. They let out a slight huff, knowing that their source of comfort was quickly melting.
"Yeah, I guess not."
Another drop landed on their nose, and Lev couldn't help but chuckle at the way it made them blink in surprise.
"I should probably head inside."
"Right, you can get some ice that isn't melting." Lev nodded casually in an attempt to hide the wave of disappointment that crossed his face.
He genuinely wanted to talk to them, that was... cute.
"Exactly," They smiled in reply as they stood up from their seat and Lev followed, "Thanks for taking care of me."
"I mean... it was kinda my fault in the first place." He mumbled, the regret evident in his voice.
"Hey stop beating yourself up about that," Y/N scolded in a gentle tone, "I know it was an accident." They assured.
"Besides, I really enjoyed talking with you." They added honestly.
Lev's eyes lit up at that, their confession making a warm smile spread across his face.
"Really?" He asked, trying to bite back the eagerness in his tone, though it seeped through easily.
Y/N chuckled and nodded in reply, "Yeah, I'll see you around right?"
Lev nodded brightly, "I promise no basketballs will be involved next time." He grinned.
"Noted." They said with a small laugh, turning to open the doors to their apartment complex.
They gave him another soft smile, their eyes holding his gaze for a moment.
Lev smiled back at them, a twinge of relief and a hint of flattery on his face as he watched them turn to leave.
A part of them didn't want him to leave, they just wanted to stay and chat for a bit longer.
But another part was reminded of the pain in their head, yeah it was time to go inside.
They gave a small wave to their newly found friend as they entered the building.
"Bye Lev."
"Bye."
Wing Man Part 8
Fic Summary: Steve 'the Hair' Harrington is your best friend, and is constantly striking out. Sick of this, you two make a deal; you'll wing man for each other. Hooking Steve up with dates is easy, but he finds himself struggling to find you a date. At least, until Dustin starts talking about his new cool friend Eddie.
(1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9)
Chapter Summary: Eddie explains himself, and you two make plans to hang out on purpose.
5.7k Words
a/n: Sorry I haven't been updating! I swear, I'm almost always thinking about this fic but I've been trying to figure out where to go with it. I'm started to see how I want to shape the story (over 40k words in, go figure). Thank you all so much for your patience!
Also, I've had a lot of people ask me about Paige and have shown interest in what happened between her and Eddie. She is actually from Eddie's prequel novel, Flight of Icarus! I'll still explain bits and pieces during the story, but I highly recommend reading the novel for the full context. I am trying to write this in a way you don't need to read FoI, but it does give extra context to the story.
Anyway, we continue.
Aside from the mixtape playing in the van, it was surprisingly quiet between you and Eddie. Despite his eagerness to show up and take you out, now that you were sitting in his passenger side seat again, he had no idea what to do next. The sound of Iron Maiden was rumbling through the van, crackling through the old speakers.
It wasn’t often that Eddie was at a loss for words or couldn’t come up with something to say. After embracing his role in the Hawkins High ecosystem as the resident loudmouth freak he could always come up with something to say to break the ice or cause a ruckus.
But, being loud wasn’t exactly a substitution for actual charisma. He could hold the attention of his Hellfire Club during the game, and keep them safe enough from most bullies even. But intimidation was different than... whatever the hell he was supposed to be doing here. Flirting? That seemed right. He knew he should be trying to flatter you or compliment you or do something to show that he had an interest in you.
“So,” you were the one to break the silence between the two of you. “What have you been up to for the past two weeks?”
Eddie know what you actually meant was “What the fuck, man?” which was a really fair question.
“I should have called you sooner.” It was best to go ahead and rip the bandaid off now and get this conversation out of the way. “I’m sorry, I wanted to but I couldn’t.”
“Why not?” you asked, leaning against the passenger side door as you looked at him. Despite your eagerness to get out of Family Video with him, he could see that you weren’t going to just let him not explain why he hadn’t talked to you. Not that he was going to leave you hanging like that anyway.
“My phone blew up.” Eddie said bluntly.
“Your phone blew up? Like... actually exploded?” you asked, trying to see if he was fucking with you.
“Remember that huge storm a few weeks ago? Turns out that old trailers don’t exactly have the best wiring sometimes so when lightning strikes it knocks out power for a few days and fries some important wires.” he explained. “So... yeah, we just got a new phone today and when I tried to call...”
“So, I didn’t answer my phone so you decided to track me down?” There was amusement in your voice which he took as a good sign. “Seems like you could have done that part earlier. I’m not hard to find.”
“I’m not exactly interested in stalking.” Eddie snorted. “I’m already on enough people's shitlist in town.”
“Oh, you’re no fun.” you laughed. “You know where I live, you could have shown up at my doorstep in the rain or used random phones around town to leave weird messages about how you can’t stop thinking about me or sent me letters with cryptic meanings.”
“Where do you come up with these things?” Eddie laughed, feeling the tension between the two of you start to dissipate.
“I read a lot of bodice-ripper books.” you shrugged. “Trashy romance novels are a guilty pleasure sometimes.”
“Has anyone ever told you that you’re a weirdo?”
“Steve did about an hour ago when I suggested that Bozo the clown could be the shit out of Pennywise from It.”
Eddie wasn’t sure what he expected you to say, but it wasn’t that. Every time you had shown up in his life, you had completely thrown him off. He was starting to suspect that no amount of “Munson Magic” was going to work on you. Not that he wanted to work his dad’s charm on you to begin with.
What he really wanted to do at that moment was ask you about your little bet with Steve. No, wait, not a bet. A deal? Maybe he should have asked Dustin more questions, or at least waited until after Hellfire to talk to the kid-
”So what’s the plan?” You broke through his thoughts once again. “You show up out of nowhere and have me get into your unmarked van to take me to a second location... is there a second location in mind?”
There wasn’t, Eddie really hadn’t thought that far ahead.He’d panicked after his talk with Wayne and had shown up to Family Video on the chance that you’d been there. He’d run straight out the door with every intention of finding you and let you know that he was stupid for not trying harder to call you before.
”I figured we could just... drive.” He wished he could ignore the sudden parallel between you and Paige. He wished that he could just forget about what happened in ‘84. Fuck, him and Paige never even had an official date, only hooking up in his van for a few weeks before everything blew up.
Wait, was this a date? Crap, that had been the plan right? Show up, ask you on a date and then... then he’d be on a date. What the FUCK was he actually doing? He was acting so fucking awkward now- everything had been easier before. Why did Dustin have to open his big mouth about this?
“Just driving sounds great.” you said, and Eddie once again tried to relax. Every girl he had been with had wanted something from him. Nicole Summers and Cass Finnigan just wanted bragging rights that they got with the freak, and Paige had wanted him to be a rock hero. What did you want from him?
“Have you eaten?” It wasn’t exactly late, but it wasn’t really early in the evening either. His uncle always asked him that whenever one of them got home, and it had taken Eddie an embarrassingly long time to realize that it was Wayne’s way of showing that he cared.
“I could eat.” you replied, which at least gave this... whatever this was, some structure for the night. Eddie didn’t have a lot of cash on him, but he could probably scrape together enough to get you each a burger or something.
When the Iron Maiden tape clicked off and spat itself out, you took it upon yourself to pull it out and look it over. “Got any other tapes in here? I need to judge your music taste.”
That made Eddie laugh “You and every other person in this town. I have a few more tapes in here.” He tapped on the center console which you eagerly dug into, flipping through the different cassettes with eagerness.
“Metal. Metal. Metal. Metal.” You said, going through each cassette one by one. “I’m starting to see a pattern here, Eddie.”
“What gave it away?” He said deadpan. “Was it that I play guitar or the fact that we’ve only bonded over music so far?”
“And Chris Morrison.”
“And Chris Morrison.”
“It was your hair, actually. You look so much like Eddie Van Halen it’s actually uncanny.” You looked up from the tapes and he could feel your eyes studying his face. He was glad that it was dark out now, as he could feel warmth rising in his cheeks at the comparison. Was that a compliment? Were you into him looking like Van Halen?
“Van Halen?” Eddie asked. “I figured I was more of a Kirk Hammett type.”
“The hair yes,” you agreed, still staring at his face as he continued to drive. “But your smile is definitely more Van Halen.”
When was the last time someone had ever looked at him with that much consideration before? Something in Eddie’s gut twisted as he glanced over at you for a split second to meet your eyes. Huh, that was weird. Had anyone made him nervous like this before? Yeah he’d been attracted to Paige but this was starting to feel different.
He really needed a cigarette right about now.
“I hope that’s a compliment.” Eddie managed to say as he fumbled for the packet of Camels in the cupholder by him.
“Oh, it is. I promise.” you replied, digging out a lighter and helping him light the smoke in his mouth. The world's tiniest supernova...
Eddie hated that the closest thing he had to compare notes on when it came to a healthy romance was two months with Paige and a handful of movies that he barely watched.
You went back to his tapes, and seemed to pick one out. You removed the tape that had been spat out, put it back in the appropriate case (which Eddie found himself appreciating), and he was surprised to hear the old riffs of Muddy Waters playing.
“A palate cleanser.” you said, leaning back into the passenger side seat.
Eddie felt his mind reeling from your choice of music. Muddy Waters had been how his mom introduced him to rock at a young age. The two of you sat in silence for a few minutes, listening to the well loved tape as he pulled into the drive in of the next fast food joint he’d seen.
When he pulled up to the window to pay, a fresh ten was shoved in his face before he could even reach for his own wallet. It took a moment for him to realize that you were wanting to pay.
“You got me out of work early, it’s the least I can do.” you said, not giving him the option to say no as cash was exchanged for a bag of questionable but cheap food. You held the bag in your lap as Eddie started making his way out of town.
“So is this an ‘eating van’ or a ‘non-eating van’?” you asked, messing with the top of the bag.
“I think I’d starve if I didn’t eat in here.” Eddie snorted. “Knock yourself out.”
You wasted no time digging into the fries and taking a few for yourself as Eddie went to the only place that he could afford to take you right now that might be date worthy.
Luckily, Lover’s Lake was quiet and private on weeknights. If Eddie had taken two minutes to plan this better, he would have thought to maybe clear out the back of his van and set out a blanket and have a picnic. When it came to music and D&D he was great at planning out details, with dates? Not so much.
This isn’t a date. He reminded himself for the hundredth time tonight. She’s just a girl that you ran over to spend time with the second it occurred to you that she might have an interest in you and she really willingly hopped in your van and your friends actually like her-
Shit. This had to be a date right? Neither of you had said the word but that’s what it was... right?
Eddie was snapped out of his thoughts with the sweet smell of hot potatoes and grease was wafting under his nose. You had shoved a few fries in front of his face and Eddie wasted no time in taking them. You continued to absently feed him fries as he found a spot to park.
The two of you divided up the food on his dashboard, and Eddie rolled down the windows to let the cool autumn air in.
“So... what are you gonna be for Halloween?” Eddie asked, wincing internally. When was the last time anyone he knew had dressed up for Hallowen? Okay, so Hellfire Club did tend to dress up on Halloween for a special one shot but that was different- no one came to school in costumes anymore.
“It depends on my plans.” you answered. “Halloween is on a Thursday so I’m usually working. If I have a morning shift I’ll probably do zombie makeup for work, if Steve and Robin are working with me that day I think we’re gonna attempt to be Luke, Leia, and Hans.”
“And are you gonna be Leia?” Eddie asked.
“Ideally, I wanted to be Chewie but I don’t have the time for that.” you laughed. “Robin and I voted on Steve to Be Leia. Robin will be Luke, and I’ll be Hans Solo with a teddy bear.”
“Please tell me that Harrington isn’t going to be in the bikini.” Eddie laughed.
“Keith said costumes had to be work appropriate so, sadly, Steve will not be gracing the store with his sweater-vest chest hair under a bra.” You sighed dramatically. “It’s like he hates the idea of us having fun!”
“What if you have to close?” Eddie prompted, adjusting in his seat to lean against the door to face you as best he could. Next time he was absolutely clearing out the back to give you both more room.
“Oh, I am not closing.” you said firmly. “And if Keith thinks he can schedule me that day he can suck it because I have plans.”
You already have Halloween plans. Of course you would. It’s not like you had to worry about school on a weekday like he did. Eddie tried not to deflate in front of you and remained calm.
“And what plans would that be?” he asked.
“Have you ever seen The Rocky Horror Picture Show?” you asked, a smile tugging at your lips.
He had, once, with Reefer Rick a few months ago when picking up his usual supply. A quick pick up had turned into a game of pool, which had turned into the two of them high on Rick’s couch watching an old VHS tape while Rick laughed his ass off and yelled at the tv before passing out in the middle of Tim Curry seducing Brad and Janet.
“Once.” Eddie said, not giving the exact details of circumstance. “With a friend, I didn’t really get it.”
“Did you see it in theaters or did you just watch it at home?” you asked, finishing off your food.
“Friend’s house.”
“Oh, no wonder you didn’t get it. Rocky Horror is an experience, you can’t just pop the tape in and watch it. You have to come see it in a theater.” As you spoke you were absently folding a napkin in your lap turning it into what looked like a heart. When you were done with that one, you started with another shape with a different napkin.
“Is that an invitation?” Eddie asked, tearing his eyes away from the way your fingers moved for now. He found his heart pounding in his chest, unsure if you were actually wanting him to come to this, and from the knot forming in his stomach as the shapes you were folding reminded him of the times he met you before.
“It is.” you confirmed, the ninja star you had shaped with the napkin was placed on the center console as you grabbed another napkin. “...It could also be a date.”
Despite the period at the end of the sentence, Eddie heard the slight waiver in your voice on the word date. It was that same nervous stammer that had been in Paige’s voice when she offered to let him move in with her in California, it was the same hesitant inflection that one of his Hellfire players used when they weren’t sure if Eddie would approve of what crazy plan they had for their character.
Aside from that first awkward meeting at the Palace Arcade, you had been pretty confident and upfront with him. Now here you are, laying out your intentions and seeing what he would do.
What would he do? Eddie had shown up at Family Video with no real plan. He only knew he wanted to see you again, and he knew that Dustin and Steve were trying to set you two up. And it’s not like Eddie was completely against the idea of going on a date with you. You were sharp, and you kept him on his toes, and when you smiled at him it felt like his brain might short out.
But he had also panicked when he had thought that you were going to kiss him before. After Eddie’s disastrous break up with Paige two years ago, it’s not like he’d been completely against any physical relationships. There had been a grand total of two other hook ups that he’d sabotaged. People weren’t interested in getting to know the freak, they just wanted to say that they had been with him. So both times, Eddie had made sure that he’d been a lousy date and a decent enough lay before deciding that he’d rather had a date with his right hand and a Heavy Metal magazine.
Eddie would rather the rumor mill call him a boring date rather than set a standard that he’d go out with anyone who asked. He wondered if he had, would Steve have put his name on the town marquis for the world to see? Would Eddie ‘the Slut’ Munson be treated any differently than Eddie ‘the Freak’?
Shit, you were still waiting for a response.
“A date.” Eddie finally managed to echo your last words back at you. The napkin you had been messing with in your hands was now taking the shape of a ninja star.
“I mean, if you’re interested.” you said quickly. “It could just be a friend thing. Or you probably already have plans for Halloween-”
“I don’t.” Eddie interjected. “It could be a date.”
He watched your shoulders relax and you smiled up at him. “It’s a date then.” You grabbed a napkin and your green marker out of your bag and scribbled something down, handing it over to him.
“In case your phone blows up again, here is the date and time and location for the Halloween showing of the movie.” your eyes narrowed slightly at him. “And my work schedule has been hectic but I consistently work on Sunday’s and clock out at four.”
Eddie got the message loud and clear, he would know where to find you now. There wouldn’t be any excuses for not reaching out, but two could play at this game. He took the marker from your hand and grabbed his own napkin, scribbling his own phone number down and handing it over to you.
“I’m at school all week, but I still play at the Hideout on Tuesdays.” He answered back. “Friday is Hellfire.”
With that, the playing field felt a little more level. Both of you now had the power to track the other one down or call when needed.
“So what are you going to be for Halloween?” you asked, tucking the napkin with his number into your bog.
“Oh, haven’t you heard? When you’re the town freak every day is Halloween.” Eddie chuckled.
“So what, you’re gonna put on a polo and khakis instead?” He liked the way you scrunch your nose when you laughed. “Ditch the jewelry and cover your tattoos?”
“That would probably scare some of the teachers at school.” Eddie had considered doing exactly that, but he really didn’t think he’d want that kind of attention. “No one dresses up at school anymore.”
“Boring.” You sighed. “I tried dressing up for Halloween my senior year but when I got to school my friends convinced me to change clothes.”
Eddie raised an eyebrow. “You don’t seem like the type to let other people tell you what to do.”
“Now I’m not.” you shrugged. “I’m not in high school anymore, and all those people that I saw everyday? Turns out I was only friends with them because I saw them every day. Once you get away from that forced routine you realize that it’s all bullshit.”
Eddie could relate, probably better than anyone else. He was so sick of the day to day hierarchy of highschool that he’d scream it from on top of a table. Literally.
“What were you trying to be before your friends killed your fun?” Eddie asked.
“A pirate. It was last minute but I had a bandana, an eyepatch, a sock puppet with feathers glued to it for my parrot, and a wire hanger I was carrying around as a hook.” you laughed at the memory. “I ended up dropping the eyepatch before my friends made me change because I kept running into people. My wire hanger was confiscated, some asshat stole my parrot, and one of my friends gave me a sweater to change into. I didn’t even make it to first period in that outfit.”
Eddie had made it a point to not pay attention to anyone outside of his small group at school, only ever keeping an eye out for lost sheep that didn’t have anywhere else to go. He wondered, if he had seen you that morning in the brief window before you were pushed back into conformity would he have noticed you? Talked to you? You had already been nice to him before.
“Wait,” Eddie over at you, taking in the picture you had painted for him. “You made a sock puppet parrot?”
“I needed a parrot, or else no one would get it!” you explained. “But then when I took it off and left it to go use the bathroom it was gone. I finally found the thief in fourth period because they kept playing with it and squawking my own parrot at me. But by that point I had just cut my losses and had given up on Halloween.”
“Are you usually this crafty?” Eddie asked, once again looking at the final napkin you were folding into what looked like an old cootie catcher.
“I get bored easily.” you said. “If I don’t have something to do with my hands I can’t focus.”
“How’d you start with the whole-” Eddie grabbed one of his slightly used napkins and gave it a wave. “Folding thing?”
“Fourth grade show and tell.” you said. “I did not prepare anything and so I spent a full ten minutes in the school library to find something to show. I found a book on origami, found the easiest thing to make and realized that I actually enjoyed it.”
If that was a mystery, it sure did get solved right there. Eddie wanted to ask about Steve and Dustin. He wanted to ask you why him? He could keep his mouth shut, let this whole thing play out and see what happened. Eddie could sit here, and enjoy the fact that a girl was giving him the time of day and leave everything up in the air just like he had with Paige.
“So I heard you and Steve had a deal going on.” Eddie said. “Something about getting dates?”
You froze for a second, the completed cootie catcher in your hands. Things were dead silent for a grand total of ten seconds. Ten agonizingly long seconds. Even the cassette player had clicked off and was now whirring as it rewind the Iron Maiden tape.
Then you started laughing. A lot.
“Jesus, Eddie!” you said, wiping your eyes with the ninja star as a tear threatened to spill down your cheek. “I tell you I have origami as a hobby, and you follow up with ‘So I heard you and Steve are trying to get dates.’ Seriously?”
Eddie remained silent at your reaction, trying to process your laughter. You didn’t seem scared or nervous that he had called you out, and he had to admit that he hadn’t completely thought through the consequences of asking you that question.
“Who blabbed?” You asked, after your laughter had calmed down.
“Henderson.” Eddie admitted and, in an attempt to ease any lingering tension he leaned forward to rest his elbow on the center console and held his chin in his hand as he looked at you. “That shrimp informed me that you found me so irresistible that you begged Steve to set you up with me.”
“Is that right?” You asked, raising an eyebrow.
“Oh yeah,” Eddie agreed. “Told me all about how ever since Chris Morrison shot you down, you’ve been desperate to get my attention to get back at him.”
“So which is it, am I attracted to you or am I using you to get back at a guy I talked to once in high school years ago?” you asked. Eddie saw a glint in your eyes, the same one he’d seen that first night at the arcade when at the air hockey table.
“Both are true.” Eddie continued to explain, a shit eating grin on his face. “You see, you were originally going to use me to get back at Chris, but then you saw me play guitar and instantly fell in love.”
“Damn, this sounds like the plot of a terrible movie.” you laughed. “So is this the part where I tell you that ‘It started out like that, but I swear it’s not like that anymore!’? Do I beg on my knees that my feelings for you are genuine, even though we’ve hung out a grand total of two-and-a-half times?”
Five times, but who’s counting?
“What’s the half-time?” Eddie asked.
“You ditched me at the arcade after I said I’d be right back.” you stated matter-of-factly. “I’m hoping it’s not a pattern where you start dropping off the face of the earth just when things start getting good.”
“Between you and me,” Eddie leaned in closer. “I thought Dustin was trying to set me up with Steve. Not you.”
Cue more laughter from you as you threw your head back. “Are you kidding me?! Dustin makes me and Steve show up to an arcade and tries to force a meeting with you- and you thought you were supposed to be dating Steve?!”
“Not dating!” Eddie clarified quickly. “You see, Steve and I only have one thing in common and that’s Dustin Henderson. Kid practically worships Steve. I thought he was trying to get us to be friends or something.”
“Oh my god, you thought Dustin was trying to hook his two dads up!” Your cootie catcher was now crumpled up in your hands, stained with tears from your laughing. “I’m a homewrecker!”
Yeah, this really wasn’t going the way Eddie had expected it.
“Shit, Eddie, I’m sorry.” you said, your laughter calming down into giggles instead. “Have I been reading this whole thing wrong? I mean, if you have more of an interest in Steve I could probably set that up. He’s only ever shown interest in girls but you have long hair and are pretty enough-”
“No.” Eddie said. “I don’t have an interest in Steve- you think I’m pretty?” How were you able to throw him off so easily? He could tell that if you had been able to join Hellfire you would have been a menace at his table.
“Extremely.” you said, your voice more sincere now.
The two of you just stared at each other for a while and Eddie felt that same twisty feeling in his gut again. You thought he was pretty. That was good, right? Did you like pretty boys? You were pretty- he liked that a lot.
“I...” Eddie started and then dug deep inside himself to find the words he wanted to use. “Prettier than Steve?” Those were not the words he wanted to say, but he said them anyway.
“Steve is conventionally attractive but, as I said before, not my type.” you said. “I like guys with long hair anyway.”
Eddie really couldn’t tell if he was nailing this or blowing it. “So, what is your type?”
“I’ll tell you mind if you tell me yours.” you countered.
Had Eddie ever really thought about what his type was? Yeah, he’d had ill-advised crushes and had been attracted to various women in comics and tv but did he have a type? He tried to connect all the girls in his mind that he’d been with, trying to find a pattern.
Someone who actually pays attention to me. That’s pretty sad, Eddie. He came to the conclusion. Yeah, aside from his disastrous kiss with Ronnie five years ago, every girl he’d been with had been the one to show interest first, and you were no exception. But had he actually had feelings for the others? Not really. Attraction? Yeah. Feelings? Well, with Paige he had been far too busy dealing with Corroded Coffin, his dad, and school to really decide what he felt for Paige. Any other small flings had been dead on arrival.
So why did he keep wanting to spend time with you?
“Don’t go spreading this around,” Eddie started. “But if I had to pick a type, it’d be She-Hulk.”
“She-Hulk?” you mulled that over in your mind. “So tall, green, and angry?”
“Strong-willed, and funny as shit.” Eddie corrected.
“And green.”
“And green.”
“If I had known that earlier I would have picked Kermit the Frog as my Halloween costume this year.” you teased. “I don’t have a character off the top of my head, but I like people who feel.. Real.”
Real. The word that Paige and him had used over and over in those two months.
“What’s real to you?”
“Not high school.” you said. “Someone who’s not afraid to exist and be themselves. I’m most attracted to anyone who can let go of their desperate ego and just have fun. High school was boring because everyone was so wrapped up in their own bs of looking cool that they didn’t do anything that they actually wanted to do. Shit, even I fell into that.”
Eddie didn’t want to ask if he was real to you. He wasn’t sure if he was ready for an answer. There were lots of times he wished that he wasn’t still in school, but this time really hit harder. He was starting to really like you, and yeah part of him was terrified of that.
The two of you finished off the last of your food and Eddie shoved all the leftover trash into the brown bag and tossed it in the back so you wouldn’t be stepping on it.
“I don’t know much about real anymore, but I think you’re pretty badass.” Eddie finally said. “I mean, you brought a wire hanger and a fake parrot to school for a costume. That’s pretty brave, even if your friends did talk you out of it.”
“I’m more mad that the parrot was stolen and used to annoy me than the lack of costume.” you said with a small laugh. “They weren’t even funny. They just kept repeating what I said. It was easier to just shut up at that point.”
“Didn’t think to make them say anything embarrassing?”
“Oh, I tried. But, jocks don’t know the art of a good ‘Duck Season, Rabbit Season’ gag. Anything embarrassing I said they’d just turn it around. I’d say ‘I pissed myself in gym.’ they’d reply with ‘you pissed yourself in gym’. No love for comedy.” You took a deep breath and let out a long sigh. “If you’re going to be a bully, at least give me a good story to tell later, you know?”
“I once got slammed against a locker by a jock who called me ‘a myriad freak.” Eddie said. “To this day, I still don’t know what he was trying to mean by that.”
“See? At least that’s funny.” you said, and then. “Holy shit, we’ve gotten off topic.”
“There was a topic?” Eddie leaned back on the seat again.
“Yes, an important one that I was very interested in before we started talking about bullies and high school and She-Hulk.” you nodded.
Talking to you was so easy that he hadn’t realized how many topics the two of you had blown through in a short amount of time. He looked at his watch real quick and realized it was creeping towards 11 pm now. Had the two of you really been talking that long?
“What topic was it?”
“You flirting with me.” you said, your lips pulling back in a cheshire grin. “I’m pretty sure you were at least, before I became a homewrecker between you and Steve. Normally I’d hate to break up a happy family, but I might have to make an exception this one time.”
“Was I flirting?” Eddie tilted his head with his own grin. “I’m pretty sure I was just telling you that I thought Dustin was trying to make me be friends with Steve. If I had known that the shrimp was trying to introduce me to a cute girl-” He would have shot it down and canceled Side Quest Day- “I wouldn’t have left the way I did.”
“You think I’m cute?”
“Extremely.”
You nodded. “Alright, then it’s a good thing that we’re going on a date. I’m glad to know that I’m not coming between you and Steve.”
It was just past midnight when Eddie dropped you off at your apartment that night. This time when you leaned over the center console towards him, he didn’t freeze up or panic. Eddie let you hug him and he hugged you back, his cheeks growing hot momentarily when he felt your lips press against his cheek and he was able to breathe in your scent.
“See you later, Eddie. Oh, and for the movie- I highly recommend dressing up.” you looked him up and down. “Actually, just wear what you’d normally wear. I think you’ll fit right in.”
Eddie made a mental note to ask Rick later on what he was supposed to wear for this.
“I’ll call you.” he said. “I promise. I mean it this time.”
“Not if I call you first, I have your number now. And worst case scenario, I know where you play.” you responded. “See you Tuesday, Eddie.”
And with that you were gone again, leaving Eddie alone in the van feeling much better than the last time he had given you a ride. There were still questions he had. He still wanted to know why exactly everyone was wanting the two of them to meet again, and why you always so readily agreed to meet up with him. But those were questions for another day.
“You had a missed call.” Wayne said as Eddie made his way into the trailer. “Didn’t leave a name or number. Said she’d call you back.”
Eddie laughed and shook his head, guess you meant it when you said you’d call first.
“Don’t stay up too late watching tv.” Eddie said before heading towards his bedroom. He once again found himself falling asleep with his copy of The Hobbit, the origami flower tucked safely in the back.
Ending note: This fic takes place during October 1985. Stephen King’s It did not come out until September 1986. I would like to ask you all politely to suspend your disbelief for the historical inaccuracy of a piece of dialogue that probably didn’t add much to the plot. If this horrible inaccuracy bothers you, please repeat to yourself “it’s just a fic, I should really just relax” which is what most of us should be doing anyway.
ANOTHER CLICHÉ LOVE STORY
synopsis: the three times Minghao tried to buy you coffee, not cuz he thought you were cute or anything. At least that is what he told himself or; the one time you beat him to it pairing: xu minghao x gn!reader genre: fluff warnings: none w.c: 606 a/n: I'm sorry I like cliches a bit too much, requested by @haecien
Minghao didn't even like coffee that much. He had always preferred tea over coffee. Yet here he was in line for the third time this week. It had become a routine, almost a ritual for him now. His eyes look across the room searching for something or someone. A sigh escapes his mouth when he sees you, tucked away in your favorite corner of the shop, nose buried in a book, occasionally stealing glances at the world outside the café's window.
He imagined what your voice must sound like, soft and melodious, with a hint of warmth that matched the gentle smile he often caught glimpses of. Or how your eyes would crinkle up when you laughed if they would light up with a spark of mischief or shine with genuine joy. "If you stared any longer, you'd burn a hole in them," Seungkwan teased, nudging him with a playful smirk.
"What no! I'm not staring at them. I'm looking at how beautiful the sky is" Minghao said trying to defend himself. "Yeah, the sky that's completely hidden by the thick fog," Dino said almost rolling his eyes at his friend. "If you're into them, you should try talking to them or something?" he suggested.
Minghao shook his head, thinking how could he like you when he had never even talked to you. Yes, you were the only person on his mind for days but that doesn't mean he likes you. Seungkwan leaned in, "You'll never know if you don't make a move. Just talk to them, man. Maybe buy them a coffee and see where it goes," he encouraged.
Minghao hesitantly approached the counter. He was so nervous that he stumbled over his words. "I'll pay for their coffee," he blurted out, only to be met with a confused look from the barista who informed him that you had already paid for yours.
The second time he tried to buy you coffee, he confidently approached the counter (with shaking legs). The barista grinned at him, "Your friend's coffee's on the house today. They're a regular."
Third time's the charm, right? Minghao certainly hoped so as he stood in line at the coffee shop once again. But just as he reached the front of the line, his phone buzzed insistently in his pocket. Minghao frowned, recognizing the number as his manager's. With a sinking feeling in his stomach, he answered the call, only to be met with urgent instructions to rush back immediately.
Minghao entered the café, scanning the familiar surroundings in search of you, his heart sinking as he failed to spot you anywhere. Disappointed, he turned to leave, resigned to try again another day. But just as he reached for the door handle, he froze in his tracks, his eyes widening in surprise as he saw you walking towards him. You held two cups of coffee in your hands, a warm smile gracing your lips as you approached him. "Hey...," you greeted him, offering one of the cups of coffee. "I am Y/N. I got you this. I hope you don't mind. I… uh, I thought you were cute and I was wondering if you'd like to go on a date with me?" Minghao's heart skipped a beat, his mind struggling to process the sudden turn of events. He stared at you in disbelief, a flush spreading across his cheeks as he tried to find the words to respond. "Y-yeah, I'd love to," he stammered, a shy smile tugging at the corners of his lips. "I mean, yeah, that would be great."
Maybe that's how this was supposed to happen, one cup of coffee at a time.
Congrats on 40k Jade! Also hi, I hope you're having a great day (I'm really nervous this is my first time sending in a request I'm so sorry if I sound weird)
𝐡𝐨𝐩𝐞 𝐦𝐲 𝐛𝐨𝐲𝐟𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐝'𝐬 𝐨𝐤 —send me a hurt/comfort request for any reader and any character and I'll write a ficlet, 2k or less
Can I request a reader that has a bit of a temper and got told that no one would like her because of it so she's a bit insecure about herself? My favourite character is James so maybe with him or with Remus whichever you prefer (and they reassure her and it's awesome because your writing is just so awesome)
Congrats again <3
luveline's 40k party ☆ thank you so much, you didn't sound weird at all dw ♡ fem!reader
The day has been long, your feet dragging up the steps to Remus' flat. His door sticks and the only radiator that doesn't need bleeding is the one in his bedroom, so it's cold, and you're irked. You kick out of your pinching shoes and hang your jacket up, which falls on the floor. You pick it up and it falls again. Huffing, you put it on the sideboard and trudge down the hallway to Remus bedroom.
"Hello, my lovely," he says without looking up.
There's a notebook in his lap. He's wearing his reading glasses. If you were in a better mood you'd try to distract him by laying across his thighs. As it stands, you're fucking exhausted. You flop down in his bed and curl towards him where he's sitting against the headboard.
"Tired?" he asks.
"Mm." Tired isn't the right word, but the right word makes people cringe at you.
Today has been awful and you hate the part of you that wants to rail about it. You can't help how you feel; this anger glows molten. It makes you hate yourself, which irks you worse. You grab one of his pillows and pull it against your chest to squeeze it until your arms hurt.
"Bad day?" he asks, pen scratching.
You exhale. "A bit," you say into the pillowcase.
"Sorry, dovey," he says. There's the sound of paper leaves catching against one another and the clink of a pen put away. "What did you say? I needed to finish writing that edit down before I forgot."
You're not mad at him in particular but your voice comes out tightly strung anyhow, "I said it was a bit of a bad day."
Remus hears your tone and refuses to skirt around the issue. Not from a want to be confrontational, but a direct way of going about things. "What, are you mad at me?"
"No," you say, turning away from him.
"You seem mad."
"I think I am."
"Well, now you don't sound mad," he says, dipping down to talk into the back of your neck. "Now you sound upset. Have I upset you?"
"No, Remus," you say. Mad to sad to mad again, your shoulder and spine ache with rigidity.
All his questions didn't make you mad, but you were mad to begin with, and so what might usually be very normal turns to irritating. In the moment, you've no hope of controlling it, and, not wanting to further subject Remus to any misdirected annoyance, you shuffle out of his reach. "I just need a minute," you say.
Remus is used to your temper, though you often worry he'll grow tired of you and your big moods and throw in the towel. You count useless numbers in your head and curl your fists into balls until your bones feel like they're too big for your skin, wanting to deal with it alone.
A minute or two later and Remus reaches for your side. "I was trying to lighten the mood, and it wasn't my best work," he says, tip of his thumb drawing semi circles into your shirt.
Remus taking the blame for your emotions has you frowning, rabbit-holing into twisting thoughts. He's always been good for you and good to you, accepting of your short fuse. He's not always sunshine and lollipops himself. But, he's not angry half as often as you are. Does that bother him? People have said to you before that your temper will be the ruining of a good thing, that Remus won't want to deal with it. And it makes sense.
You don't want to deal with it either. You don't really feel like you have much choice when it comes to being mad.
"Sorry," you mumble.
Mattress springs groan as he leverages himself closer to you. Familiar, his hand sneaks under your shirt to tickle the soft roll of your stomach. He draws a slow and winding line with no end nor goal in mind, uncaring of the pouch you get laying down. Remus doesn't really care about anything that could be marked superficial. It's one of the many reasons that he's markedly the best person you know; he loves everything that you hate about yourself without hesitation. Like your anger.
"Do you want to set a rule?" he asks.
"Pardon?"
"Humour me. Let's make a condition before we have this conversation." Remus stops drawing to slide his hand between your hip and the mattress, hugging you to him. "I'll assume you're not mad at me even if you sound angry, and you can assume I don't mind."
"Do you mind?" you ask.
"Well, I don't love when you're angry, but I know it isn't at me so it won't matter."
Reassured enough to face him, you meet his eyes.
"I know I have a tendency to make it sound like I'm angry at you when I'm really mad at someone else," you say.
"That's not true. And I ask, don't I? If I think you're mad at me?" Remus' already dulcet voice drops to a murmur, words said slowly and with as much care as a person can put into words alone, "I don't know why you feel like you're such a bad person for being angry."
"Because it's all the time," you say. Your throat burns with the effort that it takes to stay intelligible.
"It's not all the time."
"It's often, and it's not fair to you."
"It's not fair to take it out on other people, and I promise you I'd let you know if you were doing that. So… could you just tell me why you're mad? Without worrying I'll take it personally."
"It's not about taking it personally, I don't want you to take it personally, but it's just– it's just ugly, isn't it?"
Remus frowns. "Honestly? I don't think so. You have to be angry sometimes. Everyone gets angry and those feelings need somewhere to go, or it'll eat you up inside and make you bitter instead. Like… okay, he'll forgive me for telling you this, but Sirius used to get into these awful angry tirades where he'd shout at nothing, you know? And I hated seeing him do it, but I wasn't sitting there thinking he was ugly for it. I just kind of hated that something was able to occupy him so heavily. And that's how I feel about it when it happens to you, dove."
"He used to?" you ask, the bridge of your nose flat to his knee.
"Yeah, he did." Remus pushes your shoulder flat to the bed beneath you and leans in to give you a kiss. The corner of your mouth takes the brunt of it.
"Did you kiss him like this, or–"
Remus laughs and hugs you, "A discussion for another day," he murmurs. He gives you a last kiss and squeeze and then sits up. "So shout at me."
"I don't want to shout at you."
"You know what I mean. Tell me what pissed you off today."
"Are you sure?" you ask.
"Yeah, I'm sure, I like the way your eyes look anyways, when you get riled up." Remus finds your hand to hold. "Tell me, dove. I'll be angry with you."
addilyn richardson,
spent the next few days avoiding matt outside of their work sessions at absolutely every cost. she still went to his house, but it was as if they were back at square one again, and she was barely talking to him. she'd worked herself up so much after admitting she actually did like matt, she couldn't even look at him anymore without turning bright pink. her and matt were just about done with the actual marble run, only needing to add some final touch ups. today they were both at addilyn’s again, working together on the writing part of the project. she had probably spoken at most ten sentences to him since they got there, and even matt had noticed she’d been acting odd the last couple of days. he thought they made it to better terms, acting nice with one another, joking around and maybe even flirting a little. but maybe not. maybe he was overthinking that part a little.
“are you okay adds?” matt asked, lifting his head up to look at her. she sighed, turning to look at the wall. she felt bad, she knew she’d been acting weird. she couldn’t help it though, admitting out loud she liked matt a few days ago made it more real. everything he did made her stomach flip. she couldn’t sit through their sessions without having to excuse herself to the bathroom at least five times to recollect herself. she looked over at matt, feeling her heartbeat quicken. he didn’t even have to do anything.
“yeah, sorry,” she shook her head, “i’m just a little stressed about the assignment.” it wasn’t a total lie, the project was a lot of work. but she couldn’t tell him that the way he smiled at her was making her chest tighten.
“okay, let’s take a break,” matt grinned. he moved the notebook off his lap, turning his body to face her on the bed, leaning with his arms rested behind him. she froze, eyes going wide and staring at him. he smirked back at the girl as she studied his face, looking at every little freckle and crevice. “stop looking at me like that.”
“like what?” addilyn laughed, looking down at her feet shyly.
"nothing,” matt replied cooly, almost flirty, addilyn thought, running his hands that were decorated with various silver rings through his hair. he ducked his head down to get addilyn to look at him. “tell me something about you that i don’t know.”
she tilted her head to the side, her confused gaze meeting matt’s again. he was wearing grey sweatpants and a crewneck, similar to what he wore everyday, but it was still making addilyn shift around as she looked at him. "i don't know," she giggled, “um, i traveled to europe last summer.”
“what else?” matt pried slightly, leaning closer to the girl who sat next to him. his arm that was behind him began to ever so slightly moved behind addilyn as he got nearer. he smelled of cologne and clean laundry. the way he was close to her, the sound of his voice, it was all too much for addilyn. she felt her breathing hitch.
she thought. “i had a pet cat when i was younger.”
“tell me more,” matt grinned, “you don’t talk to me anymore.”
“i don’t know,” she replied quietly, feeling herself gravitate towards matt, “you tell me something first.”
matt looked at her, his pink lips tugging into a soft smile. he thought for a moment, before replying as quietly as she had. “my favorite color is blue.”
“that’s boring, tell me something i don't know about you.” she retorted, using his words against him. she was playing with her hands as they sat in her lap, and shifted a tiny bit closer to him, not daring to break away from his gaze. matt just stared at her, his eyes darting all over her face. his hand was fully behind her back now as he shifted all of his weight towards her. they were sitting so close to one another that if anyone walked in on them, they wouldn’t have guessed they were science partners. addilyn stared back at him hard, her brown eyes meeting his blue ones. she couldn't help but to flick her eyes quickly down at matts lips. she could feel the tension building around them.
please kiss me she thought.
“i have seventeen stitches in my head,” matt said, barely audible. he was so close to her, addilyn could feel his breath fan across her face, smelling lightly of the spearmint gum he had been chewing earlier.
“what else?” she whispered.
“i don’t know,” matt breathed, leaning as close to her as he could without actually touching her. his face was inches away from hers. his lips were parted slightly, leaning even closer to the girl as he looked down at her lips that were glossy from the chapstick she'd put on ten minutes ago. addilyn held her breath and felt her eyes fluttering closed. everything seemed to be happening in slow motion. she leaned in slowly, meeting matt in the middle as their noses brushed softly into one another. a second before their lips could touch, they broke apart at the sound of matt’s phone ringing.
the two pulled back abruptly, both of their faces bright red. matt coughed awkwardly as he picked up his phone and looked to see who was calling. “i’ll be right back.”
“yeah,” addilyn nodded, looking at her feet again. she could hear her heart beating loudly in her chest, she thought matt would be able to hear her from the hallway. she blinked rapidly, trying to regain herself. she couldn’t believe she almost just kissed matt. what would have happened if the phone didn’t ring? would he have actually kissed her, or would he have pulled away at the last second? would she even been good at it? she’d never kissed a boy in her life, and here she was with a boy she liked in her room. she sighed, picking up her phone to look at the time. it was barely even dinner time, and they still had work they needed to get done. she just hoped it wouldn’t be awkward when matt came back in.
as if on cue, her bedroom door swung open, matt coming in and packing up his book bag swiftly. “sorry addy, i have to go.” he told the girl, swinging the bag over his shoulder.
she blinked up at him, looking confused. “okay.”
“i’m sorry,” he said, putting his hands in his pockets, “chris called saying he needs me to pick him up from nate’s house.”
addilyn couldn’t help but notice the heavy feeling of disappointment rise in her chest. “y-yeah, i understand, you’re good.” her mind began to wander off, and thought about if he had stayed longer, if he would try and kiss her again.
“i’ll, uh, i’ll see you tomorrow in science, yeah?” matt mumbled, shifting his weight back in forth.
“yeah, okay.” she nodded and stood up from the bed to match matt’s height, suddenly feeling small. she wasn’t sure what to do, she felt he was leaving so awkward and abruptly. should she hug him? kiss his cheek? i mean, he was just about to kiss her, so would that be weird? she was so new to all of this. she opened her mouth to speak, then closing it. she looked up at matt, offering a small smile, praying she could hide her disappoint well.
matt smiled softly at her, his eyes moving across her face, trying hard to remember how she looked in this moment. he spoke quietly. “bye adds.”
*₊˚ 𓂃✧
the next day addilyn didn’t speak to matt once. she ignored his waves to her in science this afternoon, and even texted him after class saying she couldn’t work tonight because she didn’t feel well. a lie. at this point, she didn’t even care about the stupid assignment anymore. they had most of it done, anyway, so she wasn’t too worried. they both worked hard and would get at the very least an a-. and besides, matt needed this grade more than she did. an a- for her would suck, but she'd rather take that than have to see matt again tonight. she convinced herself in 12 hours she had totally made an embarrassment of herself. he was her science partner for crying out loud. she was best friends with his brothers, and she wasn't even his type. why did she think he'd want her? she just thought he was feeling sympathetic and went to kiss her out of pity. she'd rather take a semi bad grade than deal with all of that. addilyn was currently in lunch, reading a book with her earbuds in, trying to distract herself from thinking of matt. she looked up at the feeling of one of her earbuds being pulled out of her right ear. chris smiled down at her, plopping his stuff down next to her.
“hi addy,” he said to her, sitting, “what are you doing later tonight?”
she sighed, closing her book. she didn’t exactly tell chris about her feelings for matt, but he picked up on it when they were all at mcdonald’s the other night, when addilyn and nick kept sharing secret smiles whenever matt did or said something.
chris and matt were sat in the front seat, addilyn and nick paired in the back. they were all sat in the parking lot, indulging themselves in the cheap mcflurrys that chris bought for everyone.
“my treat,” he had said, “i got a b on my book report.” they all laughed, piling themselves into matt’s mini van as he drove them up the road to get food. nick was yelling about encounter he had with a teacher earlier that day.
“he wouldn’t let me go pee!” he exclaimed, “so i got up, walked out, and went to the bathroom.”
the other three laughed as nick told his story, matt looking to addilyn every single time he laughed. this happened the whole night. whether they looked at each other while they laughed at something the others said, or shared small glances that went unnoticed by the other two in the car.
at one point, nick did notice this, and nudged addilyn after matt looked away from her. chris was telling a story, and matt was staring at addilyn the entire time. chris took note, putting the pieces together slowly the whole night.
“nothing.” she told the boy, looking over at him.
he furrowed his eyebrows, looking confused. “you’re not working with matt tonight?”
she shook her head no. “i’m not feeling too great.”
chris frowned at her, “really?” she nodded. “well, i was thinking maybe if you’re up to it later, you can come with us go get ice cream. it's half off tonight for the wrestling team's charity, matt and nick wanted you to come too.” there was that feeling of pity again. he only wanted her there because he felt bad she had nothing better to be doing on a friday night.
addilyn looked away from chris, her eyes scanning across the cafeteria. naturally, her stare fell to matt. he was sitting with some of his friends from his lacrosse team, listening them tell a story while laughing with his head thrown back. she wasn’t sure how he managed to effortlessly look that good. pity, addy, he feels bad for you, stop thinking he's cute. matt sat back up, instantly locking eyes with addilyn across the room. she turned her direction back to chris. “i’m not sure, i’ll text you later and let you know.”
he nodded, letting her go back to her book. before she could fully submerge herself into it, the bell rang, dismissing them to the next class. addilyn collected her belongings, seeing matt walk right past her. he turned back around, looking over his shoulder to her and smiling. she felt her eyes begin to well with tears as she walked in the opposite direction. she didn’t even know why she was upset.
she darted into the closest bathroom, locking herself in the last stall, before she began to let tears fall. she covered her mouth with her sweatshirt sleeve, trying to silence her sobs. she cried as she thought about matt, not even knowing where to begin with him. she felt like she ruined everything they had going for them. regardless if she liked him or not, she simply enjoyed his company. she loved the way he would actually listen to her when she talked, not just hear her. the way he’d rub his his eyes when he laughed really hard. she just loved to be around him. she loved the way he would make her chest feel fuzzy when he made eye contact with her. she loved the way he would scrunch his nose up when he was confused about something. she cried, thinking deep down in her heart after this project was over matt would forget all about her and move on to the next girl. what would he even see in her? the more and more addilyn picked herself apart, the more and more she was convinced matt simply pitied her. she was nothing like the girls he seemed to have interest in. she never had real feelings for a boy before, it was all so confusing.
the bell rang, signifying the start of the final period of the day. art. addilyn couldn’t go into the room with nick and act like she wasn’t just sobbing over his brother. she continued to cry over matt, deciding to skip her last class.
*₊˚ 𓂃✧
matthew sturniolo,
spent the entire day wishing addilyn would stop acting so weird around him, and hoping they could go back to normal, or whatever normal even was for them. he'd never had an issue with reading someone's interest for him, but he truly could not understand where he stood with addilyn. but he was afraid he fucked everything up by trying to kiss her last night. why would she even like him back? he treated her like shit almost the entire time they worked together. he thought she deserved someone who wouldn't be so confused with himself and careless with her emotions. today in science, she totally walked past him as he smiled and said hi to her. she texted him after class saying she wasn’t coming over to work because she felt sick. matt knew she was lying, but let her have her space. if being closed off is what would get her to come around, he decided it was better to just swallow his sadness and deal with it.
it was the end of the day, and he was making his way out to his car to meet up with his brothers. his head was down looking at something on his phone, not realizing he was about to walk into something, or someone. he collided with the girl, knocking her to the ground as his phone fell from his hand. he looked down to find addilyn on the floor in front of him.
“shit, addy, are you okay?” he asked, reaching his hand out to her, effortlessly helping her up off the ground. she nodded softly, retreating her hand from matt's quickly. she immediately turned to start walking the other way when matt grabbed her arm to stop her.
“hey,” he said softly, turning her to look at him. he let his ego get the best of him, thinking addilyn would want to talk, but he couldn't stand the awkward tension between them, he just wanted to talk to her. his heart sunk when she met his eyes. she looked like she’d been crying for days, her eyes all red and puffy. her lips were parted slightly as she drew a shaky breath. “adds are you alright?” the boy asked worridly.
she turned on her heel, walking in the opposite direction from matt, tears threatening to spill once more. she wouldn’t dare to cry in front of him. matt stood there, watching the curly haired girl walk away. he didn’t have to ask her to know that he was the reason she was crying. there's your ego again, he told himself, not everything is about you and your girl problems. but to matt, addilyn was more than just typical girl problems. feeling defeated, he walked out to the car to find nick and chris standing there already. he climbed into the van, not saying a word as he began to drive.
he didn’t talk much on the drive home, only chiming in once or twice when his brothers would ask for his input on something. as they arrived home, matt immediately went upstairs into his room, flopping down onto his bed. he had no energy to do anything, he felt horrible for being the reason addilyn was upset and distant with him. he wasn’t even sure what he could to do to fix it, she was avoiding him. he opened his phone, clicking her contact. he stared at the blank message screen in front of him, the blue cursor blinking at him mockingly as he thought about what to type.
what would he even say to her? sorry for trying to kiss you yesterday, i’ve been dreaming about what your lips would feel like on mine for the past week. hope we can still be cool. he let out a breath and turned off his phone, letting it fall to his chest. he stared up at the ceiling, racking his brain on how to make things better again. he figured the best thing to do was just let her be alone for now, and maybe try texting her over the weekend. the project was due in only three days, she had to talk to him at school at some point.
he sighed, turning to lay on his side, closing his eyes. he slept for a couple hours before his mom woke him for dinner. like he had done every time he's slept for the past week, he dreamt of addilyn.
"Finally!" She spun around in her chair, making a couple full rotations before facing towards her doll. "I've finished work early today for once, so let's do something fun! What do you wanna do?"
"I want to fulfill the tasks you assign me" It stated simply.
"Well, yes, I know what you want to do for me, but what do you want to do... for you?"
Do something for myself? It had never been asked that before. It spent a few moments recalling things that made it feel good, many memories of successfully completing tasks and her masters being appreciate came to mind. "I want to be useful" It concluded.
"Is that all? You've never wanted anything else?"
"I cannot recall ever enjoying anything else."
She gave it a doubtful, but thoughtful look, "Well... I command you to pick an activity for us." She said with a coy smile.
It wanted to complete tasks... to be useful.... what task could it choose for itself that would be useful?
"I would like to learn how to help you make your clockwork trinkets."
"Hmmm, alright!" Perhaps teaching would be more fun than doing it on her own, she thought. "Come watch, and please ask as many questions as you would like." She beckoned as she grabbed a tall stool and set it next to her desk for her doll.
It was not used to being able to speak so freely, but it trusted her. It climbed up onto the stool and watched with amazement as Magdeline fit so many tiny parts together and explained how they moved without any magic. She talked about it all so fluidly, and was so patient with all of her doll's basic questions, no matter how silly it thought they were.
When she was finished, it realized she had made a small, clockwork rabbit! Just big enough to fit in her palm. She wound it up, and it began to shake it's whiskers and hop forward, every third hop doing a flip! It watched the toy creature in awe, unaware of how big the smile on it's face was. It's smile quickly faded as it realized it was reaching the end of the table, about to jump off.
"Quick! catch it!" It said with a genuine urgency, just a bit louder than it's normal voice.
"Hold on, just watch." Mags reassured.
The clockwork rabbit stopped right at the edge of table, then turned around and kept hopping! It couldn't help but laugh, as it couldn't believe Mags made this little creature do so much without magic, she must be the smartest person in the universe it thought.
Mags laughed with her, this was the first time she had seen her doll so much as smile, much less laugh at anything. It was an adorable, precious laughter. She spent a moment just admiring the sound of it's voice and it's joyful facial expressions before it noticed and turned to her attention, as if waiting a command.
"Oh! I didn't have a request or anything, I just didn't know you could laugh, it was wonderful."
"W-Wonderful? What... what do you mean? If... I may ask."
"What do you mean what do I mean?" She teased, "It just made me happy to hear."
She was weird, not like any of the masters it had had before. Why would she care about what her doll felt?
"That is... strange. I'm sorry, I don't understand." It said timidly.
"It's okay, you don't have to right now." She assured it with a gentle pat on it's head. "Now, I'd love to see you try to make your own trinket, if you're ready."
The doll's face lit up again and gave an excited nod, ready to keep tinkering.
Argument - Alessia Russo x Reader
Summary: You spend a day getting ignored by your girlfriend until she realises...
1.3k words
"Babe!" I heard Less call from the bedroom and I paused my show to go and check on her. She was standing in our room, holding her hairspray in her hand.
"Yeah?"
"Have you been using my hairspray?" she asked
"No, why?"
"Are you sure?"
"Very sure, yeah, Less you know I don't ever really use hairspray, and I would ask you anyway,"
"I don't remember finishing it, that's all,"
I had the feeling she didn't really believe me, but I genuinely hadn't touched her hairspray, so I guessed she'd just forget it eventually.
"Okay, you wanna come watch a film together?"
"I might join you in a little bit,"
I went back down to the tv, expecting Less to join me at some point, but she never did. I could hear her rummaging around the bathroom and bedroom, opening all the cupboards and going through the drawers.
I would usually have helped her find for what she was looing for, but my muscles were aching at the moment after a particularly hard workout this morning.
Eventually, Less came backdown stairs and grabbed sat in the kitchen to eat something. I felt like I hadn't seen her much today, so I went and joined her.
I wrapped my arms around her shoulders, kissing her cheek as I hugged me. To my genuine surprise, she drew away from me.
"I'm trying to eat," she muttered, her voice flat, sounding annoyed.
"Sorry," I apologised sheepishly, and backed off, deciding to get something to eat as well seeing as it was almost dinner time, "are you going somewhere?" I asked, noticing she was wearing her nice perfume and a little more makeup than normal
"Yeah, I'm going round to Tooney's, I'm leaving in like an hour,"
"Were you going to tell me?" I asked, feeling a little out of the loop and dejected.
"At some point, yeah course,"
"I can give you a lift-"
"No, that's fine Ella said she'd come get me,"
"Alright then, have fun,"
I put my salad together, and sat down next to her, expecting a conversation to start soon after like it normally did. Something felt a little off, a little cold. I took my salad and finished it in front of the tv.
She went out soon after that, she didn't say goodbye to me or anything. No goodbye kiss or hug like normal. The house felt so empty after she'd gone, so quiet.
I got restless sitting on the sofa, and decided to go on a walk. I went upstairs to grab a jacket. I slid on one of Lessi's jackets, and was about to leave the bedroom when the bin caught my eye. I stared at the empty hairspray can in the bin, remembering the conversation we'd had earlier.
Is that why she was being weird? She thought I'd used her hairspray?
Anger and hurt stung my insides. There's no way she thought I'd just lie to her face like that, right?
I pulled her jacket off, hanging it back up in the wardrobe and grabbed one of my own.
I didn't want to give her another reason to ice me out.
I expected the walk to clear my head, but my emotions just sort of multiplied. I was hurt that she'd been so cold, and I was angry that she hadn't believed me. I mean, she didn't even talk to me about it, she just ran off to Ella.
I wondered if she was talking to Ella about it now, telling her I'd lied to her face. I tried to push away the anger, begging some more understanding feelings to take over, but I couldn't seem to manage to understand her.
I got back home about half an hour later, mind fogged. I tried to forget it, and instead texted Less asking what time she'd be home.
Me: any idea what time you'll be back? Should I wait up?
I took a while for her to reply, but an hour later she texted back
Less: not after midnight - dont wait up
I watched to clock tick over to midnight, no Less. I watched as the time turned 1, no Less. I wanted to text, to make sure she was alright, but I knew she was. Either she'd lost track of the time, or she wasn't planning on coming back anytime soon. There was no text saying she'd be out later than expected, which she'd normally do even before she was due to get back.
I could text Tooney, but I figured I was a hot topic for them today, and just couldn't be bothered. I sighed, and just got into bed and tried to sleep.
The next morning, she still wasn't back. I couldn't really focus on my day, couldn't really be bothered to get out of bed or get changed, but I wasn't about to ruin my mood just because my girlfriend couldn't trust me not to use her hairspray.
I texted Leah, hoping she was free.
Me: ru free today I need a reason to get up cl
Leah: sure, shopping?
Me: perf, I'll pick u up in an hr
I forced myself out of bed, and into a cute outfit. I did some light makeup and had a cereal bar before leaving to house.
I got back before Less did, which hurt a little bit, but I just decided to do some baking or something to keep myself busy.
Less got back as I was sifted in the flour. She didn't call out a hello like she normally would. I left the baking and went to see her.
"I didn't realise when you said midnight you meant the next day," I muttered to her, watching her untie her laces
"Sorry, we had a bit to drink and lost track of time, Tooney said I could stay over and I didn't think you'd want to deal with me drunk,"
"A text would've been nice. I was worried,"
I hadn't been worried, I knew she was blanking me, but she didn't have to know that.
"Well, I told you not to wait up,"
"Alright," I answered, going back to my cookies
She followed me into the kitchen a few moments later, and I saw her stop short at the shopping on the side. I knew what she'd seen. I didn't look at her, instead focusing on my cookies as she processed it.
I scooped them onto a baking tray, and turned around, jumping back when she was right behind me, a new can of hairspray in her hands.
"You- you bought me a new one?"
"Well yeah," I shrugged, "I was out anyway and you mentioned you ran out, so I grabbed another can,"
I tried to walk away, put she took my hand and pulled me back, wrapping her arms around my shoulders, hugging me tightly.
It took me a second to process the action, but once she'd nestled her head into the crook of my neck, I returned the hug, my arms snaking around her waist.
I relaxed into the hug, pulling her closer and breathing into her gently. The familiar feeling washed over me, and a smile tugged at my lips.
"I was such a bitch," she mumbled into the hug, "I'm sorry,"
I pulled away, and pressed a kiss into her cheek.
"It's okay," I mumbled
She shook her head.
"I knew you were telling the truth, I just-"
"It's okay, really,"
It was a bit of a lie, but I could tell she was really hating herself for it, so I nodded reassuringly.
"You're too perfect for me,"
I chuckled softly.
"That might be true,"
She hit my arm softly, a small smile on her face.
"I buy you hairspray and you hit me, wow I feel appreciated,"
"Oh shut up. Can we have the rest of the day in? I fancy watching that film now,"
I nodded, "course Less,"
She could be my "woman"
◇ Pairing: Robert Fisher X fem!Reader/ (future Robert Fischer X android!Reader)
◇ Warnings: angst, androids, security, fear, business, robots as "slaves"
◇ Summary: Robert fears for his safety and tries his luck with Y/n's business.
◇ Note: Sorry for the mistakes and the English. FINALLY wrote the first part of the fic I mentioned months ago!
Robert chuckled at that.
"What is this, a movie?" he mocked, trying to lighten the mood, his light eyes staring at the old woman in front of him as if she was nuts.
He called her that day for a specific reason... his security and now she was talking about some weird futuristic stuff.
"I thought we were talking about a security system, not personal assistants!" He reminded her slightly annoyed by the situation.
When he didn't receive a response, he tried again with a softer tone this time.
"I can see why your granddaughter would need someone to try this out," he started, rubbing his chin with his long fingers, "...But I can hardly be her test case.... I can't believe androids are that advanced."
The disbelief of the young man was understandable and the older woman got perfectly Robert's point of view but was still a bit offended by the lack of trust in her... after all the years she had worked with his father.
"You're underestimating my granddaughter, dear. I tested them out as well...they do anything and if someone tries to enter your dreams they come inside as well working as your bodyguard there too" she informed him with a soft nod.
Security and assistance, Robert thought not believing at a word.
He raised his eyebrow surprised by the informations but still with the feeling of being made fun of. "This has to be a joke," he said, shaking his head.
"Your granddaughter created androids that protect you even in your dreams? I've heard some insane things in my life but that tops the cake."
And as words of mockery left his mouth he couldn't help but imagining it happen to him... Having someone watching over him even in his most vulnerable moments... it wouldn't be so bad.
After a couple of minutes in silence the older woman spoke again, her shaking and wrinkly hands put a note on his rich desk
"Think about it, if you need more information just call my granddaughter, she will be able to explain everything to you."
It wasn't a bad idea after all.
Robert looked down at the card in his hand, sighing. He had hoped to convince the older wise woman to work with him as well, but this was a nice alternative.
And as soon as she left his office he grabbed his phone, he read the number and then dialed it.
He couldn't waste any precious time and luckily for him, he didn't have to wait much.
A female voice replied after just a couple of rings, introducing herself as 'Y/n Y/l/n' exactly as he expected. She sounded calm and young.. probably in her 20s, her tone made him feel at ease and it was quite charming even though a bit awkward.
"Good morning, miss. I'm Robert Fischer... I had a meeting with your grandmother today and she gave me your number. I'll put my hands forward and tell you that I don't really believe in all this, it seems excessive and not very functional to me but... I have nothing to lose so I'm willing to try, and even if it is a scam, I'm pretty sure I could deal with it very easily. If you know what I mean..." Robert informed her with a calm tone, his hand busy playing around with his pen as his face remained tilted and rested against the back of his chair... serious as his business mask.
It was business after all, he needed some kind of security around him and the guarantee of being 100% safe every day.
"But I would like to know more about this androids" he quickly added after not receiving an answer, his heart strangely beating fast in his chest and his hand sweated anxiously
"Oh, sure thing. I can do that, are there any specific questions? Or would you like to receive the policy first?" the voice replayed softly, echoing now in his empty office.
He could actually hear her moving around, probably working or getting ready for something in a rush... not that he cared though.
At the questions Robert sat up in his seat, his grip tightened around the pen as he thought quickly before dropping it on the desk and let his light blue eyes travel towards the phone.
"I want to know everything. Starting from how they work, what they can do, where they come from and most importantly... how protected I am with them watching over me" The business man listed while staring intently at the object as if it would make Y/n reply faster at everything.
There was a soft music in the background, he could hear it, even if a bit muffled, and his mind focused on it, snapping back just when her voice interrupted the melody with her owns
"Well first of all I won't tell you how I created them. I'm not stupid, am I? They can do anything you want them to, they come from my cellar" she informed with a soft chuckle after apologizing and explaining to him the reason of the background noises.
"You are 99,9% protected, they have the ability to watch over you whenever you need or don't need. Not in a creepy way of course. They have the ability to enter your dreams if someone else does, so that they can protect you.... They are also loyal to their owners and you can set the program you prefer. There are a lot of different androids... each one more adapt for a situation" she explained with a more focused and professional tone, her knowledge and passion for her creations showing just by the seriousness of her speech.
She made it sound pretty acceptable and intriguing, leaving Robert silent for a moment, still and lost in his thoughts as he took in the informations. He honestly wasn't expecting such a comprehensive answer from her.
"They sound like the perfect companions," the man said, making an attempt at joking before asking her other questions, his hands already turning on his laptop
"What kind of androids are there, where can I purchase them and what sort of program do you suggest should be installed in them?"
It really was catching his interest, even if he didn't really believe in all the progress the science was doing lately... but he still was willing to try.
"Well... They are like puppies, Mr. Fisher. Like pets, without need to care too much for them. And it's highly depends on your situation and what I have down here." She explained while probably pouring herself a cup of something.
A moment of silence and Robert hummed lost in thoughts again, surprised and amused by Y/n's analogy.
"I'm glad that I won't have to worry about them too much," he murmured, rubbing his chin "And I'll happily take a look at what you have available. My main concern is my dreams, so what do you suggest to deal with that?" He murmured out, leaning back to stare at the ceiling and glance at the phone... she wasn't answering anymore but he could feel that she was thinking intently.
Then... her harsh words of truth came out "Your voice sounds lonely, you are probably sitting in a rich office, playing with something in your hand while you talk to me— I want to try to give you my first invention" the young woman declared cheerfully, making sure he didn't took her analysis as an insult before starting to explain again.
"I'm pretty proud of her. And I will make sure to deliver everything as soon as the payment is done also I'm sending you the contract so that you know that whatever the android sees it will remain between you and them" the young woman quickly stated, ready to say goodbye and hang up.
It was convincing... enough to bewitch Robert and his business mind, which was now fully engaged, even though a part of him was still cautious.
He wasn't really sure about allowing someone else to intrude so deep in his personal space and in such a little time. "How do I know that the androids and their recordings will remain private? What if they witness something... embarrassing or something that should remain fully private?" The man asked lowly, tapping his fingers against the rich wood of his desk.. he couldn't and didn't want to afford a scandal.
"I make you sign the contract because of that. I have no intention to look through all the memory. I just delete everything when their work it's done" Y/n reassured him sweetly with a soft chuckle, giving her availability 24 hours a day, 7 days a week in case of questions or problems.
Robert considered it all in silence, weighing his options carefully. On one hand, he was still hesitant about sharing his space with these things.
But on the other hand, they would be guarding his dreams, which was exactly what he needed. And their "mother" seemed trustworthy enough to make him take things further.
"I want to see the contract first," he stated thoughfully, adding after a small break of suspance "If I like its terms, I'm ready to sign."
And she already did, everything was in his laptop now. So Robert checked his emails, finding the contract attached.
He opened the PDF with a single click and began reading, his eyes scanning each word for any potential loopholes or hidden meanings.
After a few minutes of reading, he let out a sigh and printed it out, signing it before scanning it and sending it back to her along with a brief message:
"I agree to the terms, please start the installation as soon as possible. RF"
Since their call had ended just a couple of minutes before he could have finished to read it all.
Afyer that, the proceedings began and the young woman asked him a couple of personal questions, plus an address before reporting to him the date and the hour of the delivery.
{18Trip} The Homescreen Voice Lines Vault
Collection of all the voice lines I have translated on my Twitter account. Uploading it on here for archival purposes.
Note: A lot of them were made to fit the Twitter character limit, sometimes they're a bit freestyled.
Mostly Raito oriented, with some others thrown in the mix.
Chihiro: Raiting, you spend a lot of time watching vids, don'tcha~ What channels got you hooked?
Raito: Let me see, channels all about information over ramen and the occult stuff like Muu☆Tan's are vital to me.
Raito: Kuguri, you can do what you want but, have you considered to stop sleeping naked from time to time? No doubt you'll catch a cold.
Kuguri: I'd prefer for you to leave me be. A certain Someone who can't properly wake up in the morning has no right to police others on how they sleep.
Raito: According to this scripture of taboos that I procured on my own, it appears that Pandora's Box will open up again soon. The theory of hope remaining at the bottom is plausible but, let's just wait and see...
Akuta: Uugh... I can't... I can't go on like this anymore.... Raito-san, please do the usual thing again tonight!!
Raito: A hopeless guy, aren't you... Got it, I'll take care of you. I will... feed you the best late night ramen that there is.
Netaro: Raito~! Trouble's afoot! There's hearsay of a unfamiliar flickering luminant body appearing behind the dormitory~!
Raito: What!? An unidentified flying object, in other words!? We must unravel its true identity! Let's go right away, Netaro!
Kuguri: Sometimes Nanaki looks at me cutely and pleads for advice on composing music. Well, my involvement is limited to hearing him out and giving a nudge, however.
Kuguri: I don't disagree with your way of living, Ten... It smells sweet, exclusively so. How about we go on a drive together again sometime.
Ten: Aha, it's an honor to get invited by someone like Kuguri-san~ I don't mind the kinda relations where you stay outta each others affairs either.
Chihiro: Geez~! Taotao, you play Anigun way too much! Didn't you like promise you'd go shopping with Chii today! And here I sat looking forward to it~!
Tao: Sorry. To think there'd be an event out of nowhere... I'll buy you some pudding as apology. So let's go shopping. Okay?
Akuta: Like, during flower viewing... adults do /that/, right... Y'know... the thing... s- s- s- strip rock paper scissors....!
"yakyuuken" is a Japanese game on based rock paper scissors, where the loser ends up stripping.
Akuta: Ten-san, I heard you talking to a woman on the phone earlier, but is she for real... wrapped around your finger!? Like both hands all over a beaut and...!
Ten: Aha, the hell man. Don't slander me. She's just a plain ol' friend. Maybe you're still too young for this though~?
Akuta: That freakin' Kiroku, he put a kinda bracelet that girls would wear in his desk. Ah, wonder if he's like also doing the do with her...
Ushio: Oi Stupidtake, record what I make all you want but don't snatch food while i'm not looking. You itching to get banned or something?
Akuta: Geh... got caught, huh... I regret my actions! Please spare me from being exiled! Oh great god from heavens above Ushio-samaaa~!
Nanaki: Kugunii, come over whenever you feel like it again. I'm sure Dad, Mom and Big Bro all are eager to see you.
Kuguri: Perhaps so. ...I'll go if the mood strikes me.
Nanaki: Spring is the season of encounters, huh... I already have crossed paths with my G.O.A.T though.
GOAT: Gen Z slang, means "Greatest Of All Time".
Ushio: Listen Murakumo-san, I know you're fooling around, but can you please refrain from putting any weird ideas into the younger guys' heads?
Ten: Oh-hoh~ look at you sounding all cool there. Dunno what you mean with "weird ideas" though.
Ushio: ....I curse the freaking guy who dared to use my shampoo without permission to go bald from losing 10 hairs every second...!
Ryui: Toi, your hair's sticking out. Here, sit still. I'll fix it to make it pretty.
Toi: Wah... Thank you dearest Big Bro. My beloved Big Bro really is the coolest in the whole wide world... My heart's skipping a beat...
Toi: A mature seductiveness like Yodaka-san's... How can i end up having that too? I'm jealous, you see.
Yodaka: Fufu, but Toi. Don't you have your own kind of charm that I lack. I admit I'm also envious on that front.
Mister Fantastic
Reed Richards x f!reader
Omg it’s finally here!!! My first little drabble finally leaves the work in progress stage.
Pedro was finally confirmed as Reed Richards today and I just had the thought of him pulling you back with his stretchy arm into a hug and this was born.
Warning: angst (not all the way), fluff, cute shit, reader has no description, no use of y/n
Count: ~2.2k
Not proof read sorry not sorry k enjoy~
~~~
You were crying, trying to just leave. You wanted to leave so badly but your legs just couldn't move.
"Tell me you don't love me... just tell me that." He whispers, standing just a few feet away from you.
"Reed..." Your voice cracks as you could barely get the sound out. Being with him was difficult, terrifying. You were in love with a superhero that risked his life every day and, although commendable and brave of him, you saw him almost die today and that was enough for you.
The romance you had built, the relationship, it started out in the strangest way. You were actually Sue Storm's best friend, at least you were until her ego took a hit from those powers they all got during that accident. You always wanted to get close to Reed, ever since you first met him. Sue got to him first though and you just let it be.
You had to force your feelings down for who-knows-how-long. Seeing them love each other, be so disgustingly in love. Then, she was the one who broke things off. She couldn't handle competing with his work. He was married to his job and she couldn't accept that.
You aren't a scientist, you work in marketing for a tech company but you're nowhere near as smart as he is. You would find him in his lab, working away into the late night hours. You were always so quiet when the break-up first happened, tiptoeing around him because you could tell it took a toll on him. You'd visit just for the company. You lived alone in an apartment complex, paying a bit too much for what it was worth.
You started to bring him a small coffee when you had the time to stop at the cafe next to the building. He wouldn't mind you being there, since all you did was sit and work on other projects.
Over the time you saw him heal, conversations would pop up on those late nights. You'd ask questions about all his work and he would try to simplify it so you could understand, comparing it to other things and just making it easy. You'd find yourself staring whenever he would go off on his tangents, admiring how he got so passionate when talking about his work.
You two started to hang out outside of the group. Sue and him kept things professional for work and still remained somewhat friends. It got easier as time went on. She noticed you two starting to be alone more and you were aware of the girl code but she was the one who left him. She would tell you how she doesn't love him the way she did anymore, how she was completely moved on. She also saw the way you'd look at him and understood, so she didn't say anything when you two started to see each other.
The first date was a mess, you were running late getting ready because work had kept you longer than scheduled, the restaurant messing up the dinner reservation, his car breaking down when he drove you home. It started raining right when the engine started to make a weird noise. You two had pulled over on the side of the road and waited for the tow. You laughed at the situation, seeing how it was all going downhill so quickly. He looks at you and you could've sworn, you saw the stars in his eyes when you looked back.
"Are you laughing at our misery?" He asks in a joking tone, obviously finding this funny as well.
You smile brightly, taking a good look at his face before nodding. "The universe wanted to give us a night to remember." You whisper softly, quickly getting lost in his eyes. The silence that filled the car was comforting. Nobody needed to speak to know what you both wanted at that moment. The only sound was the soft pitter-patter of the rain on the car. He leaned in slower than anything, cautious that he might be reading all these signals incorrectly. Your smile reassured him that he was doing everything right.
"Just fucking kiss me, Richards..." You whisper before leaning in to press your lips to his. His lips moved slowly but you could tell he held back. He wanted to pull you over that center console and hold you in his arms. You smile against his lips as one hand reaches up, gently being placed on your jaw to hold you. It felt like you two were like this for hours but when you finally pulled away, only a few minutes had passed.
The tow arrived not long after that. They managed to restart the battery and send you two on your way. You invited him in for a glass of wine and he ended up staying the night. Nothing happened but you were pleased to find him passed out and snoring slightly next to you the next morning.
From that point on, everything just got better for the both of you. Your late visits to his lab turned into little date nights in the lab. Your apartment became less lonely, as did his. It was fun to be around the group, especially Ben who was waiting for it to happen. He made a bet with Johnny that you two would get together, and Johnny ended up owing him $20.
Everything was perfect, and then you saw him go to space.
You thought your world had ended when you heard about the accident. Your life, everything you had with him, it all flashed before you when you were told. You didn't know if he was alive, only that there was an explosion and he was being treated, but no word on his condition. The officers talked to you but you just stood there in complete silence, the warmth and color from your body completely leaving you.
You felt like throwing up when you heard he was in the hospital being operated on. You were taken there, nearly carried because you just felt useless, frozen. Sitting in complete silence in the waiting room, you didn't trust your stomach to eat or drink anything. There was news about the others, they were in stable condition and recovering. You went to visit Sue in the meantime, thinking she might be able to help calm your nerves while you waited for something. You two sat in mostly silence as she felt your anxiousness.
"He'll be okay. If we survived, he will too." She says softly, just earning a small nod from you.
The doctor found you, you were asleep on the chair in Sue's hospital room. Hearing that he was alive and stable, you made a run to his room and found him asleep, wires hooked up to him everywhere.
You were there when he woke up, holding his hand and asleep on the most uncomfortable chair ever but you managed. He stared at you, wanting to tell you that he loved you right at that moment but the words couldn't come out. He lets you sleep, knowing you probably need it more than he does.
The discovery of his powers was scary for the both of you. Neither of you knew what was happening but all of the sudden, his limbs just began to stretch. At first, you were horrified, seeing parts of his face just droop to the floor like a horror film. You began to grow just more curious as time went by. His nights in the lab turned even longer as now he had himself to study. Susan and Johnny came to him upon the discovery of their powers, and then there was Ben. Ben hated the world for what he had become but Reed made life easier. Ben still hated being solid rock but Reed made things nicer with the special suits made to help with their powers. It controlled Johnny's body temperature, helped Sue blend in when she became invisible, molded to Ben's form, and stretched with his own body. You watched his brilliant mind create all of this, not knowing what the future now had in store for them.
Bringing it back to this moment, you were trying to leave. You waited for him in the lab, watching as he worked tirelessly on trying to help himself heal. The villain he faced today got too close to killing the man you love. You couldn't watch this anymore, you couldn't wake up to an empty bed. You two moved in together not too long ago and you wanted things to be like how they were. You missed his warmth, staying under the covers into the late morning before getting up and starting your days. You worked from home more often so you could catch him. The strain in your relationship became more apparent even if you chose to ignore it.
You look at him, tears in your eyes as you have had enough.
"I..." You can't get the sentence out because even if you leave him, you will spend the rest of your life devoting your love to him.
"I know... I know things are difficult right now but please... I need you more than anything. You are my support, my lifeline." Reed doesn't reach out to you but his words did. You could see him trying to hold back the tears, the complete destruction of emotions on his face.
"I can't see you almost die and have people expect me to be okay with it. Reed, you are everything to me. You are my world, my universe revolves around you. Don't go telling me that it shouldn't because no matter what, it will. I am so in love with you and I can't ever stop being in love with you. I hate you for making me love you so much... for allowing me to fall so damn hard." The tears stream down your cheeks again. It hurts you, thinking of being away from him. But it hurt you even more to think about him dying.
"What do you want me to do?" He asks, his big brown eyes looking so sad. You loved those the most about him, his eyes. You couldn't count how many times you've gotten lost in them. "Please let me fix this. Let me fix us." He whispers softly when he doesn't get a response from you.
The silence hits again, but this one was much different than the others you've experienced with him. There was negative tension, anxiousness and sadness. You saw desperation in his eyes unlike anything you've ever seen before.
He calls your name out softly, breaking the silence first. You look into his eyes and, before you know it, an arm is stretched out to you, his hand hooking around your waist and pulling you to him. You let him hold you because you know you can't leave. You're stuck here but you'll never complain.
"Let's work together... and fix our broken pieces..." He whispers softly, his words making you look up at him as your hands rest flat against his chest. "This new life... we need to adapt and I'm not going to let you go. I'm not going to let you leave. I need you to keep me strong." He says as he leans in to press his forehead to yours.
"You're Mister Fantastic. You don't need me to be strong." You say through the soft gasps from crying. He holds you a little tighter and there's another pause before he breaks it. "I need you. I'll always need you." He whispers almost breathlessly.
He whispers your name, making you look into his eyes again. You swore you almost whimpered out loud when you got lost once again.
You opened your mouth to speak, closing your eyes and softly exhaling before finally letting a sound out.
"I'll stay..." You finally get out as you look up at him again. He looked so relieved, holding you tight and hiding his face in your neck.
"I love you... more than anything." He breathes out into your skin. "Even more than physics?" You ask with a little smile, causing him to chuckle. "Even more than physics. Although physics-"
"Are you really going to debate your love for me and talk about physics?" You laugh as you pull away just enough to see him smiling.
"Okay, okay." He shakes his head and adjusts his hold on you.
"I love you more than anything... more than science, more than life itself. If I could configure the stars in your image, it still wouldn't be comparable to your beau-"
"Oh now you're just overexaggerating!" You laugh even more, smiling as he leans in to give you a soft, gentle kiss.
"I love you Mister Fantastic..." You whisper the second he pulls away.
"And I love you... future Mrs. Fantastic." He smirks, that playful look in his eyes making you roll yours.
You couldn't wait for the future with him, your Mister Fantastic.

I have an idea to write something heavy. David naturally has better communication skills than Simon. Simon is more unhappy, which makes him insecure, whereas David does not have this quality and can flirt with Sophie. Girls love bad boys. And as a result, Simon may catch them in an intimate moment or simply realize that he will never get Sophie back and become even more depressed. David may pester Sophie or the reader, or Simon will meet the reader after catching David and Sophie together.
+ "I am adding to the previous post. David makes Sophie fall in love with him. Simon had known David since he found out Sophie was with him. and when Henrikson becomes disabled, he says his signature phrase at a meeting with Leatherhoff. And the reader could call an ambulance for Simon"
Simon Hennrikson x Gn! Reader - Shouldn't - Part 1
Pairings: Sophie x David Leatherhoff, Simon Hennrikson x Reader
Synopsis: Your best friend Sophie falls in love with your brother, David. Simon isn't too happy about that, but maybe something good can come of it.
Everyone in this story is an asshole, but I'm so sorry David and Sophie lovers! I WILL TRY TO MAKE IT UP TO YOU!!!!! Masterlist
A/N: Thank you so much for requesting!!! I'm so sorry for going a bit off-topic from the prompt you asked of me, and for taking such a long time. I had struggled a bit while writing it, and I ain't too happy with the outcome. I'M SORRY IF IT DOESN'T MAKE MUCH SENSE WAHHHHH
Contents: Two best friends drifting apart due to a relationship, everyone is an asshole in one way or another, eating ham pizza (just exchange it for something else if you don't eat meat or don't like pizza in general), one use of Y/N, unhealthy relationship, angst??? Word count: ~2.5k
"Oi, bro bro. Borrow me one of your Wii controllers, please." I said as soon as I entered my brother's room. David got startled, as I didn't even bother to knock, and dropped his joint on the carpet below. "Fucking hell." He muttered as he picked it back up. The carpet was now decorated with yet another burn mark as it wasn't a rare occurrence. "Don't you have two of them yourself?" He answered in a gruff voice of his. "If I didn't need one I wouldn't even waste my time talking to you. But I broke one of them and I need two." I crossed my arms as the conversation could have been very much avoided. "What for?" I groaned as he dragged out the conversation on purpose. "To play the other one with my feet, obviously." I stated with sarcasm seeping from my words. "I'm having a friend over, what else would I need two for, you idiot!" "You're weird as shit, I would have believed the first one." He said with an eye-roll as he stood up.
"So can I have it??" "Yes, Jesus, gimme a second to get it, you fucking parasite." His movements were sloppy, as expected from a guy who has taken more drugs today than I have drunk water this week. "Says you." But he didn't lie and within a minute the controller you needed was in your hands. "Thanks, will return it when she goes home." I was ready to leave, I only got to turn around before David spoke up again. "She? You're having a laddyy over! Is she pretty??" I turned my head at the question. Staring into his red eyes with obvious disgust. "Whatever is going through that drugged-up mind of yours, quit it." He shrugged. "If you're not interested I might be." He said with a cheeky tone. "No." I didn't even bother to argue with a guy who possibly couldn't even see who was in front of him.
But it did make me worried. I prayed all he said was a joke and that he wouldn't advance on her. He would be such a bad influence on a such sweet girl like her. I didn't even get to my room as a knock sounded on the front door. "I'll get it!" Was heard as a black smudge ran past me. The most coordination I have seen him manage to keep in a while. Oh, you motherfucker.
David opened the upper lock on the door and swung it open. Before the squeaky door, which had a "Leatherhoff" doorplate glued to it, stood an average heightened brunette girl. It was the first time I had ever invited her to my house, so she was caught off guard at the sight of a disheveled-looking man. "Oh my, why do I have the pleasure of seeing an angel at my doorstep?" She was not prepared to be hit on the second the door opened. The fact that most interactions she had with men had been bullying from her schoolmates. It weirded her out, yet kinda felt pleasant. What she was supposed to say she didn't know.
"Is this wh-" Before she could finish her sentence, the dark-haired man was forcefully shoved out of the way by a familiar to her face. "Move it, pothead." I stabilized myself after the strong push and made way so the said girl could enter. "Please come in, Sophie. And don't mind my idiotic brother." As I was mentioning him I shoved my elbow into his ribs. Which he winced at.
Sophie looked so unsure of the whole shit show before her, but in the end, she did enter my household. As soon as she took off her shoes I rushed her into my room. I sent one last glare in the direction of my brother before he fled back to his room annoyed. Sophie looked at me and said in a slight whisper "Was he…?" Her hand raised to point at her eyes. "High? Yeah." I said with a tired tone and threw myself on my bed. "I'm sorry that it was the first thing you saw here." I stared at her worried. I really didn't want her to judge me based on my brother. But Sophie just waved her raised hand. "Ah, don't worry about it. He was sweet to me." The worried look quickly got replaced with disgust. I fake gagged. "Ugh, girl nah!!" She laughed at my reaction and sat down next to me.
She grabbed her bag and took out a few crinkly pages. "I got you the notes you wanted. Sorry, they're kinda smugged… got pushed into a puddle…" Her mood suddenly dropped at the mention of the accident. I sighed with anger. "Fuck. That's the second time this week, I wish I was there to pay them back." Sophie smiled at the sign of care and looked up at me as I took the papers. "Don't worry, Simon was there and stood up for me." She paused for a second. "I should introduce you two to each other, I feel like you two would have a lot in common. And he could use some socializing…"
I recognized the name, but couldn't pinpoint it to a face though. As it was mostly obscured by the hood of the hoodie he always wore. It surprised you when Sophie said he stood up for her or let alone that he's her friend, as he seemed very reserved and mostly kept to himself. Usually spending breaks and sometimes even classes, listening to music, or sleeping. I couldn't blame him, I would have probably done the same thing. Yet I really wanna show the school am I better than my deadbeat brother who used to go to this school. Most of the teachers had a sour look on their faces the first time they read my last name while taking note of the attendance. I feel like I have succeeded in showing them I'm nothing like him. But the pressure to keep up the good act was still there.
"Yeah sure, I will gladly meet him. He seems like a good guy." Sophie smiled at me, she felt glad. "He is, he is. I mean yeah, he can get a bit too much sometimes. But I'm guessing that's mostly because he doesn't have any other friends than me." I hummed back at the information. The conversation diverted into many different topics before we could even get to the main point of our hangout. Playing on the Wii. Just dance, Wii Sports, etc. We played any party games we could find in my library of games until we got tired. Sophie was pretty skilled at playing those even tho she doesn't really own any gaming equipment. I was glad to give her access to mine as she seemed to enjoy it very much. The room was filled with movement, laughter, and overall fun.
It was all interrupted eventually by the door getting swung open by David. I was about to tell him off before I noticed that he actually had a reason to come in here. "Mom ordered pizza. This one's for you two. It's ham, I think." I stood up from my bed and took the pizza from his hand. Sophie was right behind me. "Great timing! I'm starving" She leaned over my shoulder, placing her hands on them. "It smells so good!" I looked at David, who's focus was on Sophie. "Tell Mom we said thanks." And with that I went back to my bed, taking the pizza with me. Before Sophie went back herself, she turned to David. "Thank you for bringing it to us." She smiled, which was replicated by David. "No problem, beautiful." I groaned before Sophie had a chance to reply. "C'mon. It's gonna get cold if you keep chit-chatting." David signed and grabbed the door handle. "Maybe another time." With that he left, closing the door behind him.
I was very much annoyed with the forceful flirting he was showering Sophie with. The girl didn't see anything wrong with David's actions. As she was appreciating all the positive words sent her way. As it wasn't a common thing in her life. Sophie came back and opened the pizza box as I was too deep in my thoughts. I was brought back to reality when I felt a warm scratchy texture in my hand. As Sophie put one of the pieces in it. David was right, Sophie was an angel. He was right about the pizza too, it is indeed ham.
It started to get dark once we finished eating. "I should better be going. It's getting dark." I glanced outside only now noticing the dark grayish sky. "Man…" "Yeah…" Sophie didn't look too happy about it just like me. I stood up and Sophie grabbed her things. "I had a lot of fun, we should do it more often!" She beamed as I replied with a nod. "Definitely!"
As we got out of my room, we met my mom in the hallway. "Ah miss Leatherhoff. Thank you for the pizza and for having me!" Mom waved her hand dismissively. "Don't worry about it, my dear. It got late, why don't Y/n's brother drive you home." She smiled sweetly. Sophie started to get worried, as she had just seen him high a few hours ago.
"I don't know, ma." I said worried about Sophie's safety. My mom didn't really listen as she called out for David to come to the hallway. It didn't take long till he came out of his room. "Yeah? What is it?" David seemed better, his eyes less red as if it wore off. Yet I still didn't trust him. You couldn't bring it up to Mom, it was a very sensitive topic. She chooses to be oblivious to her son's obvious addiction.
"Could you give Sophie a ride back home?" David looked confused at who she meant. Looking next to her, he saw his annoyed sibling and the brunette girl he hit on earlier. Just now remembering that it was her name. "Yeah, sure. Lemme just grab my keys." David disappeared again and then appeared back in the hallway quickly with his car keys in hand.
I was so displeased with the situation at hand. "Something happens to Sophie and you're fucking dead, David." I glared at him. "Y/n! Language!" My mom said before David spoke up to his defense. "Chill, nothing will happen. You know I'm an amazing driver." I raised my eyebrow. "Oh, are you now?" David sent a glare back at you. "Enough of that." Our mom spoke up.
I signed and went to hug Sophie goodbye. Before I let them leave I spoke up one last time. "Text me the second something happens or when you get home, okay?" "Okay, okay. I should be fine." She said as if she wasn't sure herself. They both put their coats and shoes on and left. I stood there looking at the door a second longer. Worried thoughts filled my brain.
And I was right. I couldn't stop David from entering my room while Sophie was there. But I couldn't stop the text messages. I don't know when they started texting. Possibly they exchanged numbers when he drove her home. It didn't matter. What mattered was that my conversations with Sophie started to get filled with 'You will never guess what David said' 'David did this' 'David' and 'David'. I would have been happy for her. If it wasn't my druggie of a brother she was talking about.
I suggested to her plenty of times that maybe she could go for Simon. "Have you seen how he looks at you? He definitely likes you!" At this point, I started to sound desperate. "Maybe… but I just don't see him that way. I like him, just not like that." I felt defeated.
Then the unavoidable happened. It was a very quiet break, there was maybe one more person in the classroom besides me. Sophie came so excited to my desk. "You won't believe it!" I looked up at her from my notes. "What?" I should have been already prepared for what she was about to say. "David and I are dating!" But I wasn't.
"Åh, cool!" I tried not to show how displeased I was with what she just announced to me. My eyes made a connection with the notes again. "Something wrong?" She asked and I really wanted to tell her the truth. I didn't wanna be a bad guy in her eyes. She was love-struck, and David made her happy. So I lied. I looked up at her with a fake grin. "Åh, nej. I'm happy for you two! I'm just a little tired and studying for today's exam is killing me.'" "Åh, I'm sorry! I will let you be! Good luck!" With that, she was gone. I watched her leave as if it was gonna be the last time I saw her. When she was out of my sight I sighed.
Hangouts at my house changed from just us two hanging out. David started joining us more and more often. With time it was David who invited her, not me. I didn't have to, she was here at least once a week anyway. At some point, I stopped going out of my room to them. Lying that I wasn't feeling too good.
Sophie did realize after a few times that I didn't come out of my room on purpose. So she decided to make plans in advance that involved going outside. So I couldn't hide in my room. She came up to me at school. "Hej, are you maybe free this weekend?" I pondered for a second. "Um, I don't think I have anything planned, why?" "How about we get some coffee this weekend? Me, you, David, and I will also invite Simon!" I really wanted to decline the offer. I was hoping it was gonna just the two of us, but of course, David had to be there too. But I do remember agreeing to meet Simon tho. Maybe he being there with us was gonna make it at least a bit less awkward, so I agreed.
"Yeah, sure." She seemed to relax at my answer. "Good! I will send you the details once I invite the rest." I was glad she still cared about our friendship. I felt a bit of an asshole for avoiding her when she came over. But I had my reasons.
A few classes later I felt my phone buzz. 'Saturday 1 p.m sounds alright to you?' was a message sent by Sophie. I replied with a thumbs-up to it and put my phone back in my pocket. The thought of regret filled my brain, but I couldn't back out now.
A few uneventful days went by till it was Saturday. It was Saturday at 12 a.m right now. I got ready for the day early, trying to look at least a bit decently since it's not gonna be just you three. I wondered what kind of person Siomn was, as Sophie's description and my own observations didn't give me much to work with.
The door to my room was open, and he stood in it. I chose to ignore him until he spoke up himself. The person in the hallway did not cross the threshold and spoke to me from where he was standing. "Are you ready to go?" It was David who, despite your relationship souring even more since he met Sophie, offered to give me a lift. "Yeah." The room was filled with an awkward silence as I picked up my things.
He moved away from the door and waited for me to put on my coat and shoes. My pace was clearly too slow for him as he passed by me and went straight for the door. "We're leaving!" He shouted to our mom who shouted back to us about being careful. And then he left. Shortly after I left the house myself, locking it behind me.

Hey I saw your price x son!reader post and I don't know if you already did one with a daughter!reader but when not could you do one?:D
Of course! You ask and you shall receive, dear^-^. Now I give you more papa Price for the soul.
Father like daughter
summary: You haven't had the best of days but once you got home you were met with non-other than papa Price...but also a couple friends of his, and they are as shocked as you are once you both meet for the first time.
Warnings: light swearing, fluff, she/her pronouns, a little bit of gen z shenanigans, small mistakes.
Character(s): Price x Daughter! reader (platonic)
You didn't have what you would call the best of days today. It wasn't because you had to walk in the cold, no you could handle that. It was because of the constant bullying and rudeness you've gotten at school. I mean everyone goes through bullying but you just couldn't handle it today.
Of course, you weren't in tears from the words they said, you were tough like your father. Although you were angry at the fact the reason you weren't tearing up at the words thrown at you was the reason you were picked on so much.
The fact your father was rarely home.
It's not like you hated your father for not being there, you absolutely loved him. He was the best father you could ever ask for. You just wished he was here more often. It may sound selfish considering his job protected many peoples lives but it was the truth.
You would've thought about how you missed your father more but you already arrived home and you had other things to do. But once you opened the door and the warmth of the house hit your face you suddenly heard a Scottish accent and last time you remembered you dad did not have a Scottish accent.
Did mum bring someone home? No, she was still at work..
After hearing the voice you slowly closed the door behind you and locked it before slowly making your way to the living room, dropping your bag and coat on the floor near the door.
But once you got to the living room door your eyes lit up with delight, forgetting about the voice you heard before, as an ugly bucket hat that clearly belonged to your father made its way into your line of sight...along with three other men.
"Dad there are weird buff men in our living room.."
Upon hearing your voice price turned around with a smile, chuckling at your reaction to the boys. Meanwhile Soap, Gaz, and Ghost all looked shocked.
Price has a kid.
"wait...DAD???"
"Soap.."
"Johnny-"
"HELP SOAP???"
"[Name]- please.."
To say the least, you were in shock. Why are there big buff men in your living room and why was one named Soap. You would've started laughing if it wasn't because of how shocked you were.
"I'm sorry for the sudden visit baby girl but I wanted to surprise you. Plus I wanted to introduce my team to you one day."
"Surprised I am-" you then talked back, your eyes meeting and scanning all three men. You liked the most normal looking one (Gaz). Meanwhile, your dad just sighed and shook his head with a smile at your response. "Well... [Name], this is Soap, Ghost and Gaz."
"What's with the goofy names...did your parent hate you guys or something-"
"[Name]-"
"Kidding! I know their codenames." making Gaz and Soap smile at your little interaction with your father, even though they were still a little bit shocked.
"How about you four talk to each other while I get some food ready?"
"Dad...I don't how a high school is supposed to get along with full-grown ass men"
"You'll find a way, good lucky baby girl." your father would say in a joking voice as he got up and went to the kitchen. He already talked to the boys long enough and wanted a break anyway.
"So what you wanna do?" Gaz's voice would pipe up, breaking the silence while you looked back at your bag filled with homework before looking back into the living room.
"shooting games?"
"Sure!"
It had been a couple minutes since you started to play this one shooting game called 'Calling of Loyalty'. It was a great game. Plus it gave you a lot of opportunities to make fun of Gaz's aim. Making the three of the guys think of their captain.
"Jeez Gaz have you gotten your eyes checked recently..."
"Father like daughter..."

I like the interpretation that Phantom Papyrus actually exists but I also really like toying with the fact that Dust is clearly insane. You can decide for yourself if he's real or not.
@owl-bones
First Day, Previous Day, & Next Day.
Bad Sansuary: Dust - Haunted
Word Count: 1,256
Occasionally, you would witness Dust muttering to himself or fixating on a particular spot in the room for long periods of time. It mostly only happened on his bad days but you had pointedly ignored this behaviour as it probably wouldn't help him feel better if you randomly brought it up.
Today though, you were too curious to ignore it any longer. You really didn't want to offend him either though as it would be insensitive to just ask, right?
"what's the matter with you today? you're not usually this...jumpy."
You blinked in surprise and sharply glanced over at Dust, who was currently sitting lazily at your kitchen table for once. He raised a bonebrow and his mismatched eyelights flicked over you before settling on your face again.
Curse his incredible observation skills!
"Sorry, I was just thinking..."
"that's not good."
You huffed and planted your hands on your hips. "Wow... You must be so proud of yourself," you retorted with a heavy layer of sarcasm in your tone.
He grinned and let out a quiet "heh."
"so, what's on your mind?" he asked again.
You chewed your lower lip and picked at a loose thread on your shirt. "I... I don't want to make you upset. It's a bit of a silly question anyways..." you murmured.
His eyelights narrowed slightly in a skeptical way. "i doubt you could make me upset..."
"I really hope not..." you sighed. "Do you...do you regularly talk to yourself?"
Dust hummed quietly and tapped the table with his gloved fingers. He was silent for a few moments and seemed thoughtful.
"well i can see why you didn't want to ask..." he muttered.
"Yeah... But, you don't have to tell me if you don't want to! I shouldn't have even asked..."
He shrugged and waved you off. "no, i insisted...and i'm not upset either, okay?"
You nodded quietly and glanced down at your socks. This was just as awkward as you'd expected it would be. You wished you could crawl into a hole and never come out as long as you lived.
"i know i'm crazy and i know seemingly talking to myself makes me look worse. however, i'm sort of...haunted by my brother."
You stared at him for a moment, unsure of how to react to that information. "Is he like a ghost...?"
"phantom, he prefers the term phantom." Dust sighed and ran his hand over his face before adding, "i don't get why it matters but he likes the alliteration i guess..."
"He talks to you as well?"
"yeah... he gives me advice and keeps me company..." His voice was a lot quieter now and he couldn't seem to look at you for whatever reason.
"I see..." You glanced around the room but didn't notice anything out of the ordinary. While you could see why Dust had been hesitant to tell you as it really did make him look more than a little unhinged, you were surprised by how casually he'd spoken about it.
He acted as if this was a completely normal thing, and for a moment, you almost believed that he really could be haunted by a phantom of his brother. There were so many types of Monsters and there was so much you didn't know about them. Surely ghosts could exist too, right? Still, it was just too crazy to believe...
He was self aware enough to know how crazy it sounded and yet he had still chosen to tell you. He clearly trusted you to some degree if he was willing to be open about this. So, you decided to play along as it was the least you could do.
"What's your brother's name?" you asked.
Dust turned to you with a look of surprise on his skull. His eyelights flickered across your face, likely looking for any sign that you were weirded out by what he'd just told you.
"you're really something else..." he muttered under his breath. In a louder tone, he responded, "his name is papyrus."
At first you wondered if you'd heard him correctly. Axe had told you about his own brother fairly early into your friendship and you'd learned that his name was also Papyrus. Was it a common name among skeletons?
"Oh, that's interesting. Although, I remember that Axe's brother is also named Papyrus," you commented.
Dust's eye sockets widened and he got a look that practically screamed "oh crap..." He quickly tried to mask it a second later and shrugged.
"it's... you could say it's a common name i guess..."
You could tell he wasn't telling you the truth and raised an eyebrow skeptically.
He tried really hard to maintain a poker face but seemingly couldn't under your intense gaze. With a heavy sigh, he tugged his hood further over his skull and buried his face in his hands.
"sorry...i'd really rather not explain the actual reason behind that right now..."
You placed your hand on his shoulder in a comforting manner. "Hey... I'm not upset, but you don't need to lie to me, okay? I understand you and Axe aren't normal people. There's a lot of things he didn't really want to tell me too. I don't mind though, so long as it isn't something that will affect our friendship or hurt someone, okay?"
He nodded slowly but made no effort to respond.
Deciding to change the subject, you asked a different question. "Can Papyrus see or hear me right now?"
"yeah, he can..."
You glanced around the kitchen again but still couldn't see any sign of the Phantom Papyrus. "I wish I could actually see him face to face so we could communicate properly... Is he doing alright?" you asked quietly.
Dust shifted and you noticed his eyelights flickered to a spot just above your head. He stared intently for a few seconds before the corners of his smile quirked up slightly.
"heh... he says he's doing fine and thank you... also, that it would lovely if you could see him but it's not possible."
You looked up where Dust was focusing and then back to him again. The room felt colder all of the sudden...like there really was another presence that you couldn't see.
"You really care about him, don't you?" you asked in a soft voice.
Dust nodded and smiled at you. The corners of his eye sockets sort of crinkled and for a moment he looked like an entirely different person. Someone who in another life was happy.
"more than anything..." he answered.
You pulled out a chair and sat down next to him. "I wish I could say the same about my family, but I'm happy for you, buddy." You smiled and patted his shoulder affectionately.
He frowned slightly at the mention of your family. "i noticed you never seem to talk to them..."
"Yeah...we don't exactly see eye to eye you could say."
"i can't imagine anyone would."
You opened your mouth to answer before shutting it again. "Was that supposed to be a joke?" you hissed.
"depends, was it funny?"
"Not really."
"then it wasn't really a joke, bean."
You stared at him for several seconds in disbelief. "Are you okay? You've been uncharacteristically happy today..."
"kinda hard not to be when you're around," he hummed.
Was he flirting with you? Or were you just that bad at picking up social cues? There was no way he liked you to that extent!
"Well, in that case, I'm glad you're able to be happy. I like spending time with you, Dust."

i saw this prompt “I don't care if it's 2am, I'm lonely, come watch a movie” so could you write this shuri x reader fluff where the reader isn’t in wakanda and they haven’t seen each other for a while and the reader is a bit sad so shuri flies out to surprise her?
You flew here!?
Shuri x FEM reader
Summary: you've been complaining to Shuri about how much you've missed her this past week. She pops in for a surprise visit.
You stare at the kimoyo beads when she answers and she stares back "are you frozen? Is there something wrong with the beads?" You shake your head "no just taking a moment to admire my wife since I've been away from home so long" she nods "I know it sucks" "exceedingly" you comment as you sit up and focus your eyes "where are you? The lightning is different" she looks around before answering that's suspicious "my bedroom love I took time from the lab" you glance at her outfit and nod "oh well like I was saying it kind of sucks being here alone the hotel is nice thanks to you but it's not like home there's no warm air, no dora Milaje, or even running children the children here act like adults..." She laughs and you nod "I'm so serious it's weird as hell it's odd" she nods "you only have about half a month left" you face plant the pillows beneath you "without you that's like years my love you know this I'm used to having you behind me in bed yet I wake up every morning with nothing but cold behind me and in front of me I'm sleeping with my pillows imagining they're you. It's kind of depressing." She laughs and you come face to face with her "it's so not funny not just being away from you but I'm sex deprived terribly sex deprived not even just sex I need intimacy bad." She looks at you then around her you finally bite wondering what the hell is going on and why she keeps looking around. "Baby I'll call you later someone just came to my door. I love you bye." Before you can answer she hangs up leaving you stunned "I know she did not just hang up in my face... I'm going to kill her."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
After maybe an hour of flipping through the hotel television channels you fall asleep on the news.
"New news the queen of Wakanda Shuri Udaku has made an exciting visit to us today!"
Maybe you were already sleeping or wanted your wife beside you so bad you were conjuring up sounds either way it didn't matter as you flicked the TV off and went to bed again alone. You wake to a gentle dip in your bed causing you to carefully reach underneath your pillow and grab your gun but as soon as you reach for it there's already a hand there "on edge my love?" You sit up so fast to see if the voice truly matches the face you scramble to the lamp clicking it on and your smile is so big when you see hers. "Wait fuck am I still asleep? I swear if I'm still asleep and I wake up and you're not here I'm going to cry." Shuri grabs your face and shushes you "no I'm really here you're not dreaming my love your subconscious would never be that cruel." You look away as tears begin to form in your eyes anyway she pulls you into her arms after a gentle peck on your lips "hey hey what's wrong? I'm here" you look at her and shake your head "I didn't realize how truly lonely I was until now seeing you I feel so less lonely you really mean so much to me." She smiles and kisses your forehead "well I know that I mean you did marry me" you cover her mouth and lay on your chest "if you start talking you'll ruin the moment this isn't a joking matter..." She smiles down at you and pulls you into her lap "you have no reason to be sulking I'm here now my love" you pout as she moves your hand and places a gentle peck on your pouty lips. "I was hoping the news wouldn't tell you before I could but I'll be staying with you for the rest of your mission." You jump up immediately "I'm sorry what? What about Wakanda? What about your lab?" She nods "all handled don't worry we always said M'baku would be a great king I know they might not like him but he has leadership and he offered to take over for me while I was gone." You blink "I'm sorry M'baku my M'baku of the mountains? My brother?" She nods "he loves you and he'd do anything for you especially if he heard that being away from you was ripping the joy out of your mission." You smile and sit up gently pressing on your kimoyo beads "I have to call him" Shuri smiles at your excitement.
"It's so early he might not be awake..." You glance at her "he's always awake for me" M'baku answers immediately "yes child of Satan?" You immediately want to hang up but you remember the good deed and sigh "you're protecting Wakanda?" You can hear the snap of a carrot which makes you smile to yourself "yes I mean the throne's quite comfy and Shuri beg-" you interrupt "thank you big brother I was so lonely an-" you can hear him yawn on the other end causing you to glare at your kimoyo beads "oh fuck off" he laughs causing a smile to spread across your face "you feel better." You nod as if he can see you and he hangs up.
It finally gets to you now that if Shuri is here she flew here "Shuri you flew here!?" She taps your head letting you know you're a bit too loud and replies "yes control your voice I'm right beside you" you wrap your arms around her neck and don't let go you just bathe yourself in her scent breathing her in smelling the sweet shampoo she uses, the honey body wash, and the cocoa butter lotion. "Are you smelling me?" You shush her "I said I miss home and you are my home my warm and inviting home" she laughs as she lets her hands rest on your lower back. You sit up pressing a kiss to her lips which she wasn't expecting but immediately kisses back. Shuri lets her hands drop to your ass and you pull away and look at her "I didn't do a thing" you shake your head "a complete horn dog we're having an emotional... Moment" she continues to kiss you in-between your words causing you to slowly lose your words. "You've missed my touch as well you're arching your back" you immediately roll off her lap trying to act as if the kiss itself didn't have you needing to cross your legs. "You're going to distract me from my mission let me sleep" she shrugs and pulls you back to her "absolutely not I slept on the way and so did you you've had enough sleep. Now make time for me." You gently unravel yourself from her grip and lay back on your side of the bed she nods and turns over hovering above you "well thanks for making things easier" you just laugh as she glances down at your little satin night shorts. "You do know you're not getting any type of sleep? You did say out loud while I was on the ship with Okoye and Aneka that 'I'm sex deprived terribly sex deprived'" she mocks your voice and you laugh before leaning up on your elbows and kissing her. "You're right I am terribly sex deprived. How are you going to fix that problem?" You let your hand gently caress her face while she glances at her bag then back at you "you did not..." She nods "you finished it? We were just joking when we had that conversation about the Americans and their silly little toys" she shrugs "it works well want to try it?" Your curiosity of course gets the best of you "absolutely."
A/n: I enjoyed writing this one it was cute to me. 🥺
