How do you think Homelander would feel if he had a partner who was into spooky stuff like horror movies/games and like the occult? I want to say he’d be indifferent but I can imagine his partner like infodumping to him about some new movie they heard of or some new true crime podcast and he’d be like “oh wow,,,,,” LMAO

I feel like he might be a bit nicer about it though, esp if they’ve been like bullied for it and stuff before but even then hmm

I honestly think he'd enjoy having a partner just talk at lengths about something. Especially if he gets some sweet sweet cuddles at the same time, almost dozing off. Or the classic of having his head in your lap while you just chat. It gives him the opportunity to just do nothing and enjoy himself. There's no need to perform, no need to impress. All he has to do is listen!

He wouldn't be the best at taking in all the info. Purely because he's half in his own world and half listening to you. But I don't see him making fun of you, at most just making playful jabs at how much of a tv or true crime nerd you were being!

I think he would still indulge you in sharing your hobbies or participating as a watcher in any sort of way. Because he desperately wants to relate to the people around him.

it's been a while since vasco and machete stargazing was brought up, but I distinctly remember you wondered if machete would be able to see the stars at all. i asked my old teacher who's albinistic and proudly calls herself "the mole" due to her being almost legally blind. and she can see really bright stars on clear nights when she's not in an overly light polluted area. so good news! machete can stargaze

not the biggest localization change but in tsukasa's 2023 white day line he refers to toya as "otouto-kun" and they translated it like this and it just makes me personally sad (toya & tenmas siblings enthusiast)

god that annoyed me as well, it's not like they didn't have enough space in the textbox or anything so i don't know why they cut it. like they've said it before that they think of each other as siblings, and it would add a bit more depth to their translation (especially if players haven't read many stories yet), so why not say it? i guess you can get the vibes from their translation but it's still a shame.

Hi Anon! I'm so sorry for the delayed response!!

So, English is my first language, and I am still currently learning Japanese myself. However, I've studied other languages progressively in the past, and I'm pretty much using the same methods to learn Japanese.

First, I think it's good to remember that what works for me may not work for everyone else because we all learn things differently, and at our own pace.

Before I jump into any language that I'm interested in, I look at the overall writing system of the language, and even look into whether or not it's a tonal language. If it is, does it have tonal markers within the written language to help with pronunciation? Things like that. Even taking the time to research the culture and dialects can help you to understand the language better.

If you can purchase a dictionary that would be helpful, but if you can't, try to find reliable resources online for assistance. For Japanese online dictionaries, I prefer Jisho.org and Japandict.com, and Romajidesu.com.

Length of Study: I tend to keep my sessions short (like 15 minutes max) because that's what works for me, and I try to concentrate on studying one thing well than multiple things all at once. But everyone's different, so if you can do more than great!

Set Small Goals: Like learning all the vowels first, then consonants, then tenses, or whatever you may want it to be.

Commend Yourself: I finally read this one line of Japanese all on my own without using a translator or dictionary. It was only one sentence and it's what some might have considered simple, but l still got excited and gave myself a pat on the back. Do that because each achievement deserves to be celebrated.

Study Methods: Nothing wrong with routine, but I tend to get bored with just one or two methods of study methods, so I try lots of different things to keep my studies fun and interesting.

Utilize flashcards. I love making flashcards for things like phrases, introductions, etc. I tend to practice saying the phrase I've got written on the card out loud too. And they're easy to make, no need to buy anything!

Writing Drills/Worksheets: Sometimes I have to do writing drills. Literally just repetitiously writing the alphabet, vowels, consonants, and words over and over again. But when I do this, I'm also making an effort to pronounce the word or letter or phrase that I'm writing. I feel like it helps me to memorize things more easily. You can usually find premade worksheets online. I've been looking into Tofogu.com recently and their site even has some quizzes! You can always crack open a notebook and fill the pages too, whatever tickles your fancy.

Engage in conversation with others who speak the language if you can. If you can't, then pretend to have a conversation with someone out loud. It might sound silly, but it's helped me with learning greetings and basic conversational skills in the past.

Listening to native speakers. Sometimes at work, I listen to native speakers who have dedicated YT channels for learning Japanese. Anime is a good option too!

Tossing a ball. I literally walk around the room tossing ball up in the air and catching it while I practice pronunciation. It's kind of like another way to drill things in my head whenever I'm feeling too antsy to sit still and focus.

Research. There are a lot of colloquial terms and idioms in other languages that don't always translate to whatever language we speak. If you're reading something and the translation doesn't make sense i.e. something like (He wore a cat), then pause and research until you're able to understand the expression. 'To wear a cat' in Japanese basically means that one is hiding their true nature by appearing to be innocent and harmless (like a cat)...just in case anyone was wondering.

Any way, the most important thing is to take your time, and do things at your own pace. I'm still in early stages of learning things myself with Japanese, but I hope this helps some!

💚: What does everyone else get wrong about your favorite character(s)?

oh. oh we could be here for DAYS. okay. I'll do the first five characters that come to mind, and ONE thing for each character I'm thinking about lol

Sakura- because who else would I start with? I think the biggest pet-peeve I have with general characterization of her is she's just. too normal. Whether you're writing her as a lovesick teenager or a terrifying baby badass, so many people tend to overlook that she does NOT have typical responses to situations. She has moodswings. She's impulse. Her empathy is abysmally low. her capacity for self confidence should be studied. she's an annoying know-it-all. her priorities are FUCKED. The problem is that she THINKS she's the most normal person in any given room, and too many viewers have fallen for her act. she felt accountability for 5 seconds and proceeded to poison all of her friends to try and go kill sasuke without stopping to ask herself if that's even something she's emotionally capable of trying (it isn't).

Minato- honestly, my main complain about him is similar in principle- people ALSO write him as a Normal Cool Guy, because that's how he presents and thinks of himself. He's the Ideal Shinobi, almost perfect, almost a messiah, given how people- in and out of universe- talk about him. But the thing is...he is the Ideal Shinobi. And, by nature of that, there is something deeply wrong with him. He killed an entire army's worth of people in a day and is remembered as a peace-maker. Kishimoto thinks this is normal, so the narrative thinks Minato is a good guy, so he's remembered fondly in the story and most of the fandom. Kishimoto is wrong. Minato was suited for the life and glory of an S-Rank shinobi in the sort of way we only see otherwise presented in heartless nuke-nin for the rest of the show.

Sasuke- Everything that Sasuke has ever, ever done has been for love. He doesn't move a muscle without thinking about the people he loves. His heart doesn't beat unless it can do so for someone else. People miss this because of his obsession with revenge or whatever, but he was doing that out of love for his clan. for his family. for, even, his brother, who he somehow devestatingly loved even before he knew Itachi wasn't to blame. Itachi set his entire world on fire when he was seven and then put him in a torture hallucination replaying it for days, and Sasuke still loved him. After everything he heard Danzo did, he still gave that bastard the chance to plea his case before killing him. Sasuke doesn't have a single cruel bone in his body.

Hinata- Hinata is a fighter. She loves, and she watches, and she's never met a fight she won't pick given half a chance. She put herself between her father's wrath and her sister. She fought Neji because Naruto was cheering on the sidelines. She only managed to confess her love when she jumped in to an impossible fight against Pein for Naruto. I don't think she ever wins a fight in Naruto (which is bullshit), but that's never hindered her undying fighting spirit.

Obito- Obito's tricky cause his characterization is contradictory and murky by nature so it's hard to argue the details of it, but you will never get me on board with a canon interpretation of him that isn't literally chronically dissociated for his entire adult life. I don't think he knows his name. I don't think he's looked in a mirror in years. I don't think he can tell you the date. I don't think he's felt anything but conviction since he held Rin's body in his arms.

Yokai to Human Form Tidbit

Ok so there's human designs/ forms for Caspian's yokai friends 1, for fun, and 2, cause there's some situations where it's convenient/just better to have some in human forms (EX: Whisper coming to Caspian's choir concerts and conferences bc his parents are. fairly absent). Everyone has their own opinions on it and stuff and in this post I'ma talk about Baddinyan's!!

So fun little fact he does Not Like being human. This is mostly for body dysphoria adjacent feelings, like all of a sudden he has different hair, no fur, different ear placement, etc. The 'phantom limb' thing tends to happen with his tails, too, which is trippy and kinda uncomfortable. He also hates that a lot of his senses are dulled. smell, hearing, sight (especially in the dark), it makes everything feel kinda hazy and causes him to be a lot more stressed about everything.

Idk maybe I just think it's kinda funny to see a character thrown into a whole new form and reasonably be like. what. the hell this sucks. His easygoing (nice way of me saying his lazy ahh) and usually pretty chill/surprisingly level-headed mood is def worsened when he's constantly feeling skin that doesn't technically belong to him. A form he shouldn't really have.

As a result, he's oftentimes irritable and anxious in this form, with some days being better than others. He typically avoids having to use it unless he needs to though, and refuses to take his glasses off for anything. Has to be bribed with a Chocobar to enma forbid go out in public. He's also less used to it than most due to his extreme aversion to it. He just hates it and everything is physically gross and cloudy and nothing's in the right place and he can't explain why.

Badude, on the other hand, doesn't mind being human! It feels more similar to his body than it does for Baddinyan, and is kind of a fun change of pace every now and then. He's Baddinyan's like. closest friend besides Caspian in this AU, so he's typically who's convincing him to not kill everyone in the room and/or take off the stupid leaf in public lol. Their convos can sometimes go like

"C'mon, it's just until we get outta the store. Don't get your non-existent tails in a twist-"

"Shut up and do nyot remind me right nyeow."

"(Oh it's like. that kind of day whoopsies) Mbmb, we can ditch these nerds and go look at the candy isle or somethin' for a bit..?"

He stinks at comforting people or anything like that but tries. Sometimes. idiots

The fact Homelander seems to have a Pavlovian response to cameras where he just smiles no matter what got me thinking about how much angsty potential there is in that. It's obviously something that's been drilled into him, and we know he's got a bunch of facades up at any given moment, especially when he's in public (some Vought manufactured, some self-defensive). Even people who see through some of them, like the boys, don't see through all of them. But I also refuse to believe, even with how Vought propaganda saturated the world of the show is, that someone somewhere doesn't see footage like the clips of him at the red carpet event for Dawn of the Seven and wonder if he's okay. Even if that concern comes with a side order of wariness. Anyway, the point of this rambling is: I was just thinking about an SO catching him smiling fakely and just generally performing when they're no longer in public, perhaps after a rather draining event or something, and it doesn't sit right with them. They gently (verrrrry gently) remind him the cameras are gone now. I think he'd react with at least some indignation and denial at being called out so easily, but at the end of the day they don't want him pretending to be happy if he's not - because they don't actually want him to be perfect (again, I'm sure he'd have mixed feelings about that) - so I think he'd be kinda caught off guard that someone noticed him performing but has reacted with empathy rather than wariness. And then I think he'd want to just lie with his head in their lap for a while. Apologies for splurging in your inbox! This ask is way too long oh my. But do you see my vision?

The moment when he realizes they love him for more than just the Homelander public persona that most fans adore him for... Nobody who got to know him without the cameras has ever actually loved him. So I think this would be a big shock to him. Everyone else has found him off-putting, downright maniacal. But you just tell him that he doesn't have to pretend anymore and I feel like that'd break his perception of you. Like he can just be...himself?? To be with someone who loves him more when he's not performing?

He'd eat it right up. And you're absolutely right, all of this always ends with him getting his cuddles.

YAYY I'm glad to see a fellow Zelda enjoyer in the wild!! :D I've been a huge fan of the series since I was a kid, and played every game on release since Skyward Sword! I think the only games I've yet to play at least once is proobably the Oracle games, but the gameboy's sound chip gives me a migraine so I think I'm better off anyhow :') Glad you could get some joy out of my blatant nerdiness though haha! <3

Honestly, it really depends on what motivates you! My main drive to keep drawing is seeing all the lovely responses to what happens to my little group of silly kitties <3 But I do have a few tips;

- I personally like to only play about 5 moons ahead at a time, so that you can play a little between a couple pages. It keeps it feeling fresh for me

- Don't feel obligated to post on a schedule, and if you do decide to do so, be kind and lenient to yourself about it. Stressing yourself out about making the comic is just gonna ruin the fun of it.

- Try not to spend too much time perfecting every little detail of a page. At least for me, spending too much time on a single piece tends to leave me frustrated and bored.

- It's also important to follow general art advice; remembering to take breaks, stretch, get some fresh air and drink some water really does do wonders for mood!
