the thing about abuse and cruelty is that no one deserves it, ever.

there's not a magic set of circumstances that make someone deserve abuse. even if they're super annoying or do things to hurt others. because it's the action that's wrong. it's the abuse and harm that's wrong, not who is doing it.

the scary thing comes when people try to justify that harm and abuse: c!tommy was annoying and caused people harm and therefore he deserved it. c!dream did terrible things and therefore he deserved terrible things.

those are the sorts of justifications that perpetuate the cycle of abuse. and that's exactly what the point of the finale was about: shunning the idea that because someone has done something to hurt you, that they deserve to be hurt and seen as not human. that you can look past that if you let go of the need to punish.

Something that bugs me is how Sabretooth’s eyes are drawn. The Marvel Wiki said he has amber eyes yet he’s been drawn with white eyes, blue eyes, and red and black eyes a la Gambit.

Which one would you prefer?

No I have the same peeve about it :/ because I also swear he’s never been drawn with amber eyes???? It’s hard to argue that the black on red or the white is supposed to represent amber 😭

But tbh I like the blue in his origins!

But I suppose you could also argue that he’s still more, ah, clean cut and human there? But I’m surprisingly a fan of the black on red! Like- does it make sense? Probably not! But I feel like they do seem to give his whole look and animal schtick a new edge! Besides, I’d argue they actually help make him look more cuddly 🥰

But I haven’t been a fan of the white eyes devoid of pupils. However, I don’t mind them in some instances, namely when he’s suited up! They’re cool to look at sometimes! And it definitely gives his look a more inhuman and sinister sort of aura!

But it’s not something I want to see all the time. Like Wolverine’s white eyes with the mask is cool! And then he takes off the suit and he’s just some dude with blue eyes again! But sabretooth doesn’t even wear a mask lol. I definitely don’t like the white when he’s not in the get-up. Part of me wonders if it’s supposed to showcase a sort of reflective retina like in cats?

One of the things that breaks my heart most about ascended Astarion— and yes I know this is the point, I’m just saying— is if mc is being hesitant to become his spawn and say “a beloved slave is still a slave.”

Astarion will respond with “… I love you. That’s what you’ve been waiting to hear, isn’t it?”

Whatever personal interpretations ppl have about how he feels about mc after ascension it is still very clear hear he is weaponizing mcs feelings for him and it makes me cry inside.

Idk what it is but like fanfics have really opened my eyes to Aymeric. Like in the MSQ I was like "Oh yeah I like him but idk I like Haurchefant more" but in the Dragonsong War questline + fanfics made me like him a lot. Like he's actually a prince I love him so very dearly. Plus he's yk actually alive so he has more fanfic potential (sorry Haurchefant you were my first love tho)

adam definitely initiates affection by being so grabbable <3 lawrence and hoffman Love touching him, but rarely bother with each other (although hoffman would like to grope him too)

Adam dislikes Lawrence's ambition and Hoffman's brutality

Lawrence dislikes Adam's cowardice and Hoffman's carelessness

Hoffman dislikes Adam's friendliness and Lawrence's ruthlessness

i will die on the hill that Lawrence uses darling for Adam!! I also think Adam refers to Hoffman as a dog, and Hoffman pretends to hate it, when rly he's ready to drop to his knees. Hoffman always calls Lawrence doc/doctor and Lawrence calls him Mark.

actually. watching the black rider opera made me realize why I didn't like the two caligari musicals I've seen. they're too literal! the black rider has a simple plot and characters, but the avant garde and expressionist performances allow the audience to interpret how the characters are feeling through exaggerated movements, poetic lyrics, at times disturbing music, a bit of absurdism, and moments where you're like, "wait, what am I watching again?" there's emotional whiplash, there's ambiguity, there's dark humor, there's an eclectic mix of music and dance genres. "caligari" as a film and as a story would lend itself very well to this kind of theatre (hell, the influences from it in "the black rider" are very obvious), but the two musical theatre interpretations I've seen aim to be very literal and concrete. there's no ambiguity, no liminality or absurdism. everything is spelled out and structured into these very conventional narratives that don't leave any room for the audience to speculate and reflect. the black rider is an adaptation of carl maria von weber's opera "der freischuetz," but it's also a story about addiction and whatever else the audience may draw from it. "caligari," similarly, is about authority, trauma, whatever- but that room to speculate is what makes it so intriguing. the ballet adaptation probably comes the closest to what I would want to see from one, but can you imagine if a musical theatre or opera adaptation allowed itself to be less restrictive and by-the-book, and leaned more into focusing on the emotions and themes that are difficult to describe, but expressed best through performance? "caligari" shouldn't be made to make sense; the audience is tasked with making sense of it for themselves. there's so much potential there that I feel just isn't being tapped into enough, because it's not the story or the characters that make it so interesting. it's the way the story and characters are vessels for something much, much larger than an early horror movie.

olivia incident should’ve NEVER happened like something needed to be changed ages ago. i remember so many nightmare scenarios in the past like leroy getting knocked out and falling was the scariest moment ever i remember watching that and being like “oh my god is he alive?!!!!” :/

the more i watch old seasons of the challenge the more i’ve come to realize that someone could easily be killed on this show like no exaggeration. what happened to olivia is so horrifying because it could’ve easily killed her or blinded her and i keep seeing articles call it a “freak accident” but like….idk production should’ve foreseen this! if you’re slingshotting golf balls at an insanely high velocity, it seems like a no brainer to offer eye protection esp considering they DID when jordan and fessy did that comp earlier in the season (although jordan posted recently saying the goggles they gave him were cheap science class type goggles, which would’ve blinded olivia if they shattered).

and you’re so right the leroy thing was horrific and that whole comp was HORRIBLY designed!! plus the lack of proper medical care they offer challengers when they do get hurt is also insane!!! the balls in round when rogan concussed jay and it took two rounds for anyone from production to notice that jay was slurring his words and didn’t know what was going on?? what is the point of having medics on set if they can’t recognize signs of a CONCUSSION during a contact sport!!!!! like oh my god. plus the general culture of the show and how hard they harp on “never quitting 👊🏻” really pressures people into dangerous situations. i remember during vendettas (?) i think marie was nervous about falling into water from a platform and she kept saying “it hurt really bad last time” and TJ was like aw c’mon marie don’t be a quitter it won’t hurt!!!! when in her experience it literally did hurt. i wouldn’t blame certain competitors if they stopped coming on the show because they don’t want to risk seriously hurting themselves. idk this quote from olivia is really scary and sad and the contestants shouldn’t even have to worry about these things happening

I like thinking about how Blitzø and Stolas are compatible in their messed up ways, but there's one clear incompatibility between them, on ground on their unresolved traumas;

Blitzø has anger issues, overactive fight reaction

while Stolas has been verbally attacked & abused by Stella for at least 17 years

Stolas has avoidant issues, overactive flight reaction

while Blitzø has been abandoned and ignored by many people practically whole his life

So it fucks with their relationship.

In Ozzie's Stolas avoids confrontation, Blitzø feels he's ashamed of him and gets upset and aggressive after giving Stolas a lift.

Later in the series, Stolas texts less and ,,gives Blitzø space" which makes Blitzø worried that he's not wanted anymore. Then when he's offered the crystal, it triggers him, making him convinced completely that he's being abandoned again. He jokes rudely, Stolas feels he's mocked and so he leaves, which causes Blitzø to lash out, which causes Stolas to kick him out...

They really need to resolve their internal problems first in order to work out
