I have a query and I'm sorry that this question is going to upset you in advance. I see a post circling on here about Holocaust survivors apparently saying that Palestinians are exactly like them during attacks on Gaza. I just scroll past it because I have poor attention span that cannot stay focused more than one sentence but I wanted to know your opinion on this post or if you have seen it. Again, deep apologies that this ask is upsetting. Thank you for still being here and sharing with us.

I have seen a post that might be the one you're referring to... It's a screenshot of a tweet:

The original tweet shows an interview with one Holocaust survivor. The response falsely expands this to survivors, in the plural, as if this one tweet shows a whole movement of Holocaust survivors, that people simply refuse to listen to.

The original tweet comes from an account that calls itself a "media company," but has no website (something I would expect from an actual media company), and is at least 80% tweets that are anti-Israel and anti-Jewish. I'll give you an example. We all know Elon Musk has allowed antisemitism to thrive on Twitter, all kinds of it, including the white supremacist type, and others that have nothing to do with Israel. In an attempt to educate him, he was invited to a tour of Auschwitz. But apparently, according to this "media company," that was just meant to stop anti-genocide speech on his social media platform:

Of the up to 20% of tweets this "media company" posts or shares, many are anti-democratic or in support of dictatorial regimes.

This account also amplified the words of Julius Malema, leader of the South African EFF party, as he justified the Oct 7 massacre, and demanded support for the (genocidal) Hamas and its "resistance."

Malema himself has repeatedly sang, "Kill the Boer," a song which many understand as a genocidal chant against the Boers, the South Africans of Dutch descent. This guy is a controversial figure at best, doesn't seem to have an issue with an actual genocide, and this "media company" upholds his words as if he is a role model.

But if this account tweets Israel hate, then I guess the Tumblr user who passed the tweet along has no issue with how questionable of a source this is.

I recognized the face of the survivor. This is what it looks like in the cut off screenshot in the Tumblr post I saw:

So how did I recognize him? Because the number of anti-Zionist Holocaust survivors is SO small (around 5), and I have seen every single one of them repeatedly tokenized by antisemites so much, that I'm familiar with the name and face of each. The man in this vid is Hajo Meyer, who died in 2014. He couldn't possibly make any comments about Hamas' massacre on Oct 7, 2023 and the war in Gaza since, unless this "media company" has managed to somehow contact the afterlife. Here's a screenshot from Google, showing a recent re-upload of this vid to IG:

I'm guessing that "media company" didn't name him, or specify the date out of the vid, because it didn't want people to know the guy was dead, and the views he expressed were pre-Hamas' massacre.

Hajo Meyer was, without a doubt, an anti-Zionist. But would he still be using this rhetoric after Oct 7, after the biggest massacre of Jews since the Holocaust, after better understanding the kind of threat that Israel and Jews worldwide (since Hamas has tried to target Jews in European countries as well, including in the Netherlands, where Meyer lived) are facing from this genocidal terrorist organization ruling Gaza? IDK. I'd like to think he would be better than to continue distorting the Holocaust through this false comparison, but I can't say for sure, and I'm not about to claim that I do, putting words in his mouth just to exploit a dead Holocaust survivor. The fact that the anti-Israel crowd would continue to tokenize (meaning, exploit) a dead survivor like that, as if anyone could know for sure that Meyer would continue to toe the same line, just shows there really is no moral low they can't stoop to.

And here I wanna emphasize how wrong this antisemitic practice is, tokenizing Jews. Because no marginalized group is immune to the hatred spread against it, there will ALWAYS be some of its members, who will internalize and embrace poison aimed at it. There were gay Nazis (the notorious Ernest Roehm was the highest ranking one) and we also have contemporary gay neo-Nazis. So, should we use them in order to pretend that Nazi ideology is not homophobic? That it didn't harm hundreds of thousands of gay people? No, we know that the overwhelming majority of gay people suffered due to it, and would insist that Nazism IS homophobic. So, using those few exceptions to ignore (and embolden) the homophbia of this ideology, ends up being homophobic in itself. Embracing the unrepresentative few over the representative, mainstream majority of a marginalized group in "exonerating" what the group says is hateful and harmful towards it, ends up being hateful and harmful in itself.

And that's what people who only listen to the few anti-Zionist Holocaust survivors are doing. They're basically saying, "Listen to Holocaust survivors!" but they mean only the few who say what the anti-Israel movement does. All the other survivors they ignore, dismiss, silence or even erase.

They're ignoring the voices of the overwhelming majority of Holocaust survivors who WERE (and are) Zionist. Who do not agree with this distorted narrative. Yad Vashem estimates that two thirds of Holocaust survivors came to Israel at the end of WWII, and many more supported Israel even when they chose to settle elsewhere. Just recently, we had a group of 870 American survivors (along with their descendants, altogether 2,500 Jews) thank Biden for standing with Israel after the Hamas massacre. These anti-Israel haters are also erasing the survivors who were themselves targeted on Oct 7, whether threatened, kidnapped, injured or murdered (I've talked about several in my posts on this blog). This anti-Israel mob is exploiting Hajo Meyer even in ignoring that if he had been alive and present in Israel, even just to visit a friend or family member, he would have been targeted, too. These haters are ignoring survivors who said that what Hamas has done is similar to what the Nazis did (I've talked about several of them in my posts on this blog, too. All can be found in my Israel tag).

It is unconscionable, to treat most Holocaust survivors like they don't count, and only see a (literal) handful of anti-Zionist ones as if they do. And it certainly does NOT show the respect the anti-Israel haters imply survivors are owed, through the demand that we all defer to the opinion of the survivors, but ONLY the few anti-Zionist ones.

All that said, off the top of my head, here's a small number of HUGE differences between the Holocaust, and the Israeli-Arab conflict, and anyone ignoring them IS guilty of distorting the Holocaust.

-> The Holocaust did NOT start due to Jews repeatedly murdering Germans on German soil, in an attempt to keep Germans down and prevent them from establishing self rule in the German ancestral land. The Holocaust was completely unprovoked, unjustified and one-sided. Every oppressive measure taken by the Nazis against the Jews, was motivated by antisemitism, and was NOT a reaction to Jewish anti-German terrorism, that the Nazis had to protect their German citizens from. Speaking of unprovoked, unjustified and for a very long time one-sided, that describes the Arab anti-Jewish violence that preceded the establishment of the State of Israel by almost 100 years. But Jewish self-defense in this conflict, which only started about 50 years after said violence began, was provoked, was justified, was a response to what was done to the Jews first.

-> The Holocaust did NOT consist of Jews on German soil collaborating militarily with several Jewish countries surrounding Germany, with the goal of these combined Jewish armies invading and wiping it off the map, in order to prevent German self rule. Guess what the Arabs did to the Jews...

-> The Holocaust did NOT entail repeated German efforts to find a solution for how Jews and Germans could live together on the same land. In pre-state Israel, Jews did try repeatedly to reach an understanding that would allow Jews and Arabs to peacefully share (and co-exist in) the Jewish ancestral land.

-> When Jews finally started rebelling against the Nazis, they did NOT try to get as many Jewish civilians as possible killed. On the contrary, the outbreak of the most famous Jewish revolt, the one in the Warsaw Ghetto, was postponed until the Nazis entered, and the Jewish fighters believed this to be the final 'liquidation' of the ghetto (meaning, the deportation and extermination of the roughly 60,000 Jews still alive there). Only then did they fight back, because (in their own words), they did not want their decision to rebel to cost another Jew "even one hour of life." Compare that to how Hamas has been using Palestinian civilians as human shields. Or even to the Arab leadership back in 1948, which did not hesitate in risking or displacing the entire Arab population in the Land of Israel, in favor of fighting what they called "an extermination war" against the Jews.

-> The Holocaust did NOT see a single day where Germans worked en masse to try and alleviate the suffering of Jews, whether by providing them with humanitarian aid, or by moving them to areas where they would be safe from death. That's in direct contrast to Israel's efforts to make Palestinians' lives better, whether through humanitarian aid, work permits in Israel that guarantee a higher salary and better social rights, medical treatments, warnings when a terrorist target is about to be struck, etc.

-> The Holocaust was NOT supposed to end with even one Jew alive at the end of it. The Germans were going for total extermination of the Jewish people. All Jews who had German citizens were stripped of it in 1935, even before the most murderous parts of this genocide commenced. In contrast, Israel did NOT seek to kill all Arabs, there were many calls for Arabs not to flee Israel and the war which the Arab leadership had started, at the end of the war Israel gave citizenship to 150,000 Arabs who did not leave and did not take arms against Jews, and there was even an offer for tens of thousands of Arabs to return (Weitzmann presented it to the UN), if they do so peacefully. Just a few thousands accepted that offer, but those who did, got citizenship and land.

-> The Nazis were so eager to kill every Jew, that they came to the conclusion they HAD to industrialize their genocide of the Jewish people. That's why they built extermination camps with gas chambers at their core. Auschwitz alone could, on certain days, kill about 20,000 people. No Jew was meant to leave those camps alive. The crematoria were mass murder factories. ANY crime that you want to compare to the Holocaust specifically, you have to show that it includes this industrialization element. Currently, NO GENOCIDE, no matter how horrific, has. And God help us all, I hope it stays that way (this is one of the reasons why the Holocaust mustn't be distorted or minimized. We can't prevent something from happening, if we don't understand what HAS happened, and that we're trying to stop from being repeated). There is not a SINGLE thing in the history of the Israeli-Arab conflict that comes CLOSE to being an industrialized form of massacre. Even the brutality of Hamas on Oct 7, the single bloodiest day in the history of this conflict for either side, doesn't come close.

-> While there are still Jews around, meaning the Holocaust as conceptualized by the Nazis failed, it was so deadly, that it DID lead to the murder of around 70-80% of the Jews living under the Nazi occupation over a short number of years. Even more than 80 years after the end of the Holocaust, Jews have not recovered demographically. Meanwhile, the Palestinian population has increased by about 10 times since Israel's Independence War. But let's say people wanna claim that just this current war is comparable to the Holocaust. There are presently around 7 million Arabs in the territories of the Jewish ancestral land, of which about 2 million are Israeli citizens. I'm gonna go with the anti-Israel narrative for a second, which claims ALL of them are occupied and oppressed by Israel (even though they're not). In order for the ruin of Palestinians to be indeed on the same level, that would mean 70-80% of them would have to be murdered by Israel during the war. Let's go with the lower percent, so it's easier for the anti-Israel crowd to reach the number of deaths that would support their claim. To have killed 70% of 7 million, that would mean Israel would have to kill 4.9 million Arabs in this so-called "genocide." Even if we exclude Israeli Arabs, and only focus on the 5 million Palestinians living in areas where the Israeli army currently operates (imagine the German Nazis allowing Jews safety inside Germany, and only killing them outside it *eyeroll*), that would mean at least 3.5 million Palestinians killed. But after almost 5 months of this war, the number of Palestinian fatalities, as claimed by Hamas, is around 30,000 people (I'm putting aside the fact that at least 12,000 are Hamas terrorists). The gap between what is happening, and what people who make this false comparison are implying is happening, is incomprehensible.

On This Day - 16th Oct 1946

Marks 77 years since the Nuremberg executions. (This is gonna be one of my longer posts guys).

At the Nuremberg trials, 12 Nazi war criminals were sentenced to death by hanging: Hermann Göring, Joachim von Ribbentrop, Hans Frank, Wilhelm Frick, Alfred Jodl, Ernst Kaltenbrunner, Wilhelm Keitel, Alfred Rosenberg, Fritz Sauckel, Arthur Seyss-Inquart, Julius Streicher and Martin Bormann (whom was sentenced to death in absentia - as his whereabouts at the time were unknown. It is now believed he died trying to escape Berlin in 1945).

I'll go through each of the executions in order of scheduling:

Hermann Göring.

Hermann Göring was the first scheduled to be hung. However, after being denied his request to be shot by firing squad Göring committed suicide in his cell via a cyanide capsule two hours before the scheduled executions were to be carried out. It's unknown how he acquired the cyanide, as cells were checked thoroughly and regularly as well as body searches. There are some rumours however, including one that suggests that the capsule was brought to him by his wife through their departing kiss. Because of his suicide in his cell, no last words were recorded. He was aged 53.

2. Joachim von Ribbentrop

Joachim von Ribbentrop was the first to actually be executed. Upon reaching the dock his last words were: "God protect Germany. God have mercy on my soul. My final wish is that Germany should recover her unity and that, for the sake of peace, there should be an understanding between East and West. I wish peace to the world." It was later recalled that before the hood was placed over his head, he looked over at the Lutheran chaplain and said "I'll see you again." His time of death was recorded at 1:30AM. He was aged 53.

3. Wilhelm Keitel

Wilhelm Keitel's last words were: "I call on God Almighty to have mercy on the German people. More than two million German soldiers went to their death for the fatherland before me. I follow now my sons - all for Germany." His time of death was recorded at 1:44AM. He was aged 64.

4. Ernst Kaltenbrunner

(couldn't find his detention report, frustratingly. So have this image instead.)

Ernst Kaltenbrunner's last words were: "I have loved my German people and my fatherland with a warm heart. I have done my duty by the laws of my people and I am sorry my people were led this time by men who were not soldiers and crimes were committed of which I had no knowledge." His time of death was recorded at 1:52AM. He was aged 43.

5. Alfred Rosenberg

Alfred Rosenberg's last words were: "No." He was the only one who refused to make a final statement. His time of death was recorded at 1:59AM. He was aged 53.

6. Hans Frank

Hans Frank was recorded to be the only one who walked into the chamber with a "smile on his countenance." His last words were: "I am thankful for the kind treatment during my captivity and I ask God to accept me with mercy." His time of death was recorded at 2:08AM. He was aged 46.

7. Wilhelm Frick

Wilhelm Frick's last words were: "Long live eternal Germany." His time was recorded at 2:20AM. He was aged 69.

8. Julius Streicher

Julius Stretcher's execution was described as melodramatic, and cried out "Heil Hitler" and "The Bolsheviks will hang you one day" before the hood was placed over his head. Julius Streicher's last words were: "Adele, my dear wife." His time of death is unknown. He was aged 61.

9. Fritz Sauckel

Fritz Sauckel's sentence was considered controversial, considering this his superior, Albert Speer, was sentenced to 20 years imprisonment - just barely avoiding the hangman's noose. His last words were: "I am dying innocent. The sentence is wrong. God protect Germany and make Germany great again. Long live Germany. God protect my family." His time of death was recorded at 2:40AM. He was aged 51.

10. Alfred Jodl

Alfred Jodl's last words were: "I greet you, my eternal Germany." His time of death was recorded at 2:50AM. He was aged 56.

11. Arthur Seyss-Inquart

Arthur Seyss-Inquart's last words were: "I hope this execution is the last act of the tragedy of the Second World War and that the lesson taken from this world war will be that peace and understanding should exist between people. I believe in Germany." His time of death was recorded at 2:59AM. He was aged 54.

The executions were botched. Many of the condemned had slowly strangled to death (such as Joachim von Ribbentrop), and many had hit their heads on the trapdoor as they went down as the trapdoor was too small. One of the condemned took 28 minutes to die.

After the executions, the bodies were taken to a crematorium in Munich (all under false names) and their ashes scattered in the river Isar. The majority of the condemned's war medals were either destroyed or denazified before being handed over to the US finance director for sale to offset the cost of the executions.

Two queer women speak to each other: Ghost Monument (Yaz and Angstrom) — unless you count the Doctor, which... I apparently don't..? think on balance it doesn't have quite the relevant import..? We discard all carcasses responsibly through a specialist company. Unless she was taking things without us knowing, but... she's not that kind of person. I should notify the police. 35.    DOCTOR: What is it you wanted to show us? 36.    JADE: Reports of unusual spider activity in Sheffield over the last three months, from the police, pest controllers, and to us here. Rare sightings, an increase in numbers, spiders you don't normally see at this time of year. 37.    DOCTOR: Something's wrong with the spider ecosystem in South Yorkshire. 38.    JADE: Exactly. But we don't know what. They have nothing in common. Different species, different quantities. Some are large massings, some have been a profusion of web-building. I can't work out if they're confused, or angry or scared. 39.    DOCTOR: Or trying to send a message. 40.    JADE: What are you doing? 41.    DOCTOR: Where's that?

This is not what spiders do. 85.    YASMIN: Have you seen what's down here? 86.    JADE: It's landfill. 87.    NAJIA: Is that what the smell is? It goes on for miles. 88.    DOCTOR: And down.

89.    DOCTOR: Because spiders can keep growing as long as they live. 90.    JADE: What if our waste included something that we thought was dead, but was still just alive? 91.    DOCTOR: And with enough food in all that waste to survive, and enough toxicity to mutate and to keep on growing. 92.    DOCTOR: It's grown too big. 93.    JADE: She's suffocating. She's got too big to breathe efficiently. Even moving around in here, it's using up what little oxygen she can absorb. She won't survive for long. This is someone's idea of a nasty joke. 2.    YASMIN: What is it? 3.    DOCTOR: Sonic mine. It's counting down. 4.    DOCTOR: You're mentioned in the Book of Celebrants. You helped defeat the Army of the Aeons at the Battle of the Underkind. 5.    CICERO: I was one of many. 6.    DOCTOR: You're a bit of a legend, though. 7.    CICERO: And who are you? 8.    DOCTOR: I'm the Doctor. 9.    CICERO: Wait. I've heard that name. Aren't you in the Book of Celebrants? Isn't there a whole chapter about you? 10.    DOCTOR: Me? No. Very common name. Anyway, lovely chatting. Must be off. You went there way too quick. I said a puzzler, not a death sentence. I mean, it's a bit of a challenge, and I can't quite see the solution yet, but that's life. Or medicine. Patients present problems, you figure them out and come up with solutions. That's what this is. A problem to be diagnosed. Medicine to be administered. You're a medic, I'm the Doctor. 18.    MABLI: A doctor of medicine? 19.    DOCTOR: Well, medicine, science, engineering, candyfloss, Lego, philosophy, music, problems, people, hope. Mostly hope. 20.    MABLI: I'm struggling to see much hope here. 21.    DOCTOR: It doesn't just offer itself up. You have to use your imagination. Imagine the solution and work to make it a reality. Whole worlds pivot on acts of imagination. 22.    MABLI: So what are you imagining now? 23.    DOCTOR: Broadly, I'm imagining that thing off this ship. Specifically, I'm trying to imagine the answer to the question, what does it want? 24.    MABLI: Does it have to want anything? 25.    DOCTOR: Every living thing, from the tiniest to the largest, wants something. Food, survival, peace.

26.    MABLI: But the first thing it did was kill Astos. That must be what it wants to do to all of us. 27.    DOCTOR: You know, there's a much faster way back to Resus One. Why is it routing us this way? 28.    MABLI: Asteroid field. Fast-moving asteroids all around. Really unpredictable. (An alarm sounds.) 29.    DOCTOR: What are these? 30.    MABLI: They're... bad. This craft has over 5,000 different scan sensors. They're constantly feeding back to Resus One. They monitor everything, both internally and externally, check the routing's stable and there are no hostile forms, however microbial, on board. The systems have detected the Pting. They're asking us to confirm or deny anything's wrong. We can't take a creature like that back to Resus One. There's thousands of vulnerable patients. 31.    DOCTOR: And if we confirm it's on board? 32.    MABLI: They'll recommend evacuation. 33.    DOCTOR: But we can't evacuate. 34.    MABLI: They go straight to RST. Remote structural termination. They destroy the ship. 35.    DOCTOR: Right.     Nothing wrong. We're fine. 36.    MABLI: We can't keep doing that. Three dismissals and they don't believe you. Precautionary detonation. 37.    DOCTOR: Oh, great. Who designed that? So this ship either gets destroyed by that creature, or by control from Resus One? 38.    MABLI: Yeah. Sorry.

What do they want? 42.    CICERO: They kill. Relentlessly. 43.    MABLI: It must've got to the central systems. That means we'll soon lose oxygen and heat. 44.    CICERO: It'll go for whatever's powering the craft next. 45.    MABLI: We're on an anti-matter drive. 46.    CICERO: We could use stazers to defend ourselves. They can stun it briefly. Got any on board? 47.    MABLI: A couple, I think, in here. 48.    CICERO: If we're going to live through this... 49.    MABLI+CICERO+DOCTOR: Protect the anti-matter drive! 50.    DOCTOR: Snap! 51.    CICERO: Can we get to Resus One any faster than currently routed? 52.    DOCTOR: Not without breaking the ship's auto-routing, which would send a signal back to Resus One. 53.    CICERO: And they'd go straight to Hostility Protocols. 54.    DOCTOR: I could create a false positive route signal to send back, but there's no manual controls in the NavChamber. 55.    CICERO: Show us.

We did that in physics. No, but the thing at CERN is massive. 76.    DOCTOR: In your time, generating anti-matter cost a massive amount of money. This is progress. Things get smaller, faster and cheaper. This is like the iPhone version of CERN, accelerating enough particles to power this entire craft. 77.    YASMIN: So how does it work? 78.    DOCTOR: The particle accelerator smashes the atoms together, like a little anti-matter factory, to produce positrons, which are then stored very carefully inside electric and magnetic fields. The positrons interact with the fuel materials to produce heat, which produces thrust. 79.    DURKAS: It's pretty old school, this one. 80.    DOCTOR: It's beautiful. Anti-matter powering the movement of matter. Bringing positrons into existence to move other forms of life across space. I love it. Conceptually, and actually. Yaz, you have to keep this safe from the Pting. If this drive gets destroyed, this ship will lose propulsion, we'll drift endlessly while the Pting... 81.    YASMIN: I get it. It won't be good.

yeah I think im the same, i do love them all but mitam will have a special place bc its the first album of theirs i listened to. the ual and tmh i do like!! and there is some really good tunes but i know they had less say in the lyrics and producing so i suppose i dont think of it as fully theirs??? if that makes sense. love the bridge in walking in the wind, love rock me, so catchy and right now bc i always want to cry when i hear it, you?

yeah it makes sense but idk i just love the songs on ual and tmh lol i listen to them more than the songs on the other three albums. I can't pick a favorite song but my least favs are illusion, hey angel, witw, and wolves, which is controversial i know. I have this thing where if i dont like a song the first few times listening to it i wont listen to it ever again and sometimes when i do listen to it again after a few months or years i actually really like it, but i never tried again with those songs sooo maybe if i try again i might like them lol who knows.

work was very busy yesterday and im super tired, the only reason i'm still up rn is bc my sisters and i were making cookies with my nephew but im about to go to sleep.

Mark Salling Dead at 35: A Timeline of the 'Glee' Star's Struggles and Legal Issues

Mark Salling has died at age 35, ET can confirm.

In the last two years of the former Glee actor's life, leading up to his death on Tuesday of an apparent suicide near his Sunland, California, home, he was only rarely seen his public as he faced court proceedings for a December 2015 arrest for possession of child pornography, which Salling ultimately pleaded guilty to in December 2017.

"I can confirm that Mark Salling passed away early this morning," the actor's attorney told ET in a statement. "Mark was a gentle and loving person, a person of great creativity, who was doing his best to atone for some serious mistakes and errors of judgment.  He is survived by his mother and father, and his brother.  The Salling family appreciates the support they have been receiving and asks for their privacy to be respected."

Salling's legal troubles pre-date his child pornography arrest, dating back to a 2013 accusation by the late actor's ex-girlfriend of sexual battery from an alleged 2011 incident. Salling denied the allegation and the case was later settled, but after his 2016 indictment, Salling was cut from his would-be last project, Gods and Secrets.

Here is a timeline of Salling's rise on Glee and downward spiral: 

May 19, 2009: Glee premieres.

Glee premiered on Fox and very quickly became a phenomenon, turning its young cast, Lea Michele, Cory Monteith, Naya Rivera, Amber Riley, Kevin McHale and Salling into public figures.

Jan. 28, 2013: Salling sued by ex-girlfriend for alleged sexual battery.

Salling was sued by his ex-girlfriend, Roxanne Gorzela, who alleged that sexual battery, assault and battery, and intentional infliction of emotional distress occurred while the two were dating.

The specific incident Gorzela alleged in her lawsuit occurred on March 25, 2011, the same day a police report was filed. Gorzela alleged that Salling had unprotected sex with her after she specifically told him to use a condom, further claiming that when she confronted Salling about his actions, he allegedly pushed her to the floor causing injuries to her head and knees.

Salling denied the claims of the lawsuit through his rep, who said in a statement, "There is no truth to this. It's the textbook case of a disgruntled girl looking to cash in on a TV star's success. We turn the rest over to Mark's attorneys and have no further comment."

Salling also tweeted after the lawsuit, writing, "I always have and always will appreciate your support. Terror and intimidation are things I'll never subscribe to. Love y'all so much."

Nov. 24, 2014: Salling opens up about the final season of Glee after Cory Monteith's death.

Monteith died of a drug and alcohol overdose in July of 2013. The death rocked the cast, and Salling reflected on Monteith's life ahead of the show's final season.

"Cory Monteith was a great leader as a character and person in real life," he told People. "It's a big, obvious hole. I still think about him all the time."

"I don't think there will be any closure. Not yet," he added.

March 2015: Salling settles sexual battery lawsuit.

Nearly two years after the lawsuit, Salling and Gorzela settled. Per the terms of the settlement, Salling agreed to pay $2.7 million to his former girlfriend.

Dec. 29, 2015: Salling arrested for possession of child pornography.

A Los Angeles Police Dept. spokesperson confirmed to ET that Salling was booked at the Metropolitan Detention Center in downtown Los Angeles, with bail set at $20,000. He was later released after posting bail. Police said that after receiving a tip from a "concerned person," they found images of child pornography at Salling's home.

At the time, Salling was set to appear in the mini-series Gods and Secrets. A day after his arrest, director Adi Shankar told ET in a statement that he would remove the actor from the project if the "allegations are true."

"Today I was made aware of the serious allegations against Salling as a result of numerous media outlets hounding me as to whether he would remain in Gods and Secrets," Shankar said. “I won't feed our growing pitchfork culture. I'm going to wait for all the facts to arrive and if in fact these allegations are true, I will immediately take action which includes removing his scenes from the project."

May 27, 2016: Salling indicted.

The actor was indicted on two counts of possessing child pornography. Court documents obtained by ET alleged that he knowingly possessed child pornography on his laptop computer, a hard drive and 16 gigabyte USB flash drive.

The first count alleged that on Dec. 26, 2015, Salling received an image and video depicting child pornography. The second alleges that Salling possessed two videos involving young girls just three days later.

"Those who download and possess child pornography create a market that causes more children to be harmed," U.S. Attorney Eileen M. Decker said in a statement. "Young victims are harmed every time an image is generated, every time it is distributed, and every time it is viewed."

May 31, 2016: Salling fired from Gods and Secrets.

As promised, Shankar removed Salling from his mini-series, and further committed to donate a portion of the film's profits 

"Adi Shankar’s Gods and Secrets will be moving forward without Mark Salling," Shankar's statement read. "He has been cut from the mini-series, I will personally be paying for the reshoots, and I hope that Mark finds inner peace."

"A percentage of profits from the project will go to a charity for abused children," he continued. "Hopefully some good will come of all of this and I pray that when the dust has settled, the hyper-connectivity of the information age that has brought to light the transgressions of several public figures, will also force us to look within our society to identify and eliminate the root cause of the rape culture we exist in."

June 3, 2016: Salling pleads not guilty to child pornography charges.

Salling pleaded not guilty during his arraignment on two child pornography charges. The case was assigned to a federal judge and is scheduled for trial on July 12. Salling was then released on $150,000 bond and required to wear an ankle bracelet for monitoring. He was also ordered to stay 100 feet away from schools, playgrounds and arcades, as well as avoid any contact with the internet, drugs or children.

Sept. 2016: Salling's ex, Naya Rivera, writes in her memoir that she was "not surprised" by his child pornography charges.

Rivera, who co-starred with Salling on Glee, explained to ET why she wrote that she was "not surprised" by the allegations against her ex, in her book, Sorry Not Sorry.

"He was always just a very dark soul to me," Rivera explained. "I always felt like there was something that he was wrestling with."

Oct. 28, 2016: Salling is accused of raping a 22-year-old woman in 2012.

In late October, it was reported that a woman had filed a police report in April, alleging that Salling had raped her in 2012, when she was 22 years old.

However, in court documents obtained by The Huffington Post, the Los Angeles District Attorney's Office declined to prosecute the case, citing that too much time had passed since the alleged incident occurred.

"I personally interviewed the victim,” Deputy District Attorney Emily T. Spear wrote in her evaluation. "She appeared very emotional over the trauma inflicted upon her and presents as a credible and accurate historian of the events surrounding the rape. However, given the delay in reporting the crime, suspect’s apparent denial of the rape in victim’s pretext to call him and lack of other corroboration, there is insufficient evidence, at this time, to file this case."

Sept. 2017: Salling's trial begins before actor agrees to plead guilty.

The actor's trial got underway in the U.S. District Court in Los Angeles on Sept. 12. Weeks later, on Sept. 30, Salling pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography, and would have to register as a sex offender and enter a treatment program, as well as face four to seven years in prison, to be determined at a later sentencing trial.

Dec. 19, 2017: Salling's guilty plea formalized, faces four to seven years in prison.

Salling's guilty plea was formalized toward the end of last year, with sentencing set for March 7, 2018.

Per the terms of the agreement obtained by ET, Salling could serve four to seven years behind bars followed by up to 20 years of supervised release with conditions decided by the court. If, for some reason, the judge imposed a sentence outside the agreed upon range, both parties agreed to the option of pulling out of the plea deal.

Jan. 30, 2018: Salling found dead of apparent suicide.

Salling ultimately never made it to his sentencing hearing. Salling's attorney, Michael Proctor, confirmed the actor's death to ET in the statement printed at the top of this article. 

A public information officer with the LAPD told ET that they conducted a death investigation at 8:50 on Tuesday morning at the 11900th block of Big Tujunga Canyon Road, after a missing persons report was filed on Salling at the Foothills LAPD station at 3 a.m. 

ET can can confirm that a black 2007 Infinity parked at the scene belonged to Salling. As previously mentioned, the death has been reported as an apparent suicide.
