Distracting Thoughts
Prompt: Stranded On A Boat
Characters: Beelzebub x Fem!MC
Content Warnings: Masturbation, MC has thalassophobia(a fear of the ocean and other large bodies of water), MC fantasizing about Beel, lots of smutty good times with Beel
(I like how there is a word for how I feel about large bodies of water. Did not expect it to be this long ass word though.)
Another fic for @voltage-vixen ‘s Summer of Smut challenge! Enjoy!
“How on Earth did I end up in this mess?”
A heavy sigh left your lips and you buried your face into your hands.
Right now, you were stuck in the middle of the sea on a boat that Lord Diavolo had outright purchased. Not everything was going so bad, but you wouldn’t be feeling so slighted if everything was going good either.
Oh no, no. It was simply terrible.
For one thing, while you weren’t in immediate danger, being stuck in the middle of the freaking ocean was downright terrifying! All you could think of was scary scenarios of you drowning in this never-ending sea. Like the boat could sink and you could drown, you could fall over the edge and drown, or you could fall over the edge and a nearby shark could see you as a tasty snack and that could be your end. Your mind just kept coming up with the most exaggerated and impossible one-in-a-million chance scenarios that really did no good for you.
You hated being anywhere near large bodies of water, but there was one thing that kept some of the thoughts at bay. And that was you weren’t entirely alone.
You sat on the back deck of the boat Diavolo had purchased, far away from either edge that you didn’t want to be near, and before you was the ever-so lively Demon Brothers of the House of Lamentation. In short, your lively roommates who just make everything so much better...sometimes. Lord Diavolo and Barbatos was there as well but they mostly kept to themselves with Diavolo mostly sunbathing.
Your mind felt more at ease with the guys around since you knew if any of the scenarios did happen, they would not hesitate to immediately step in to save you. Though you still hope it would never have to come to that in the first place. You felt most safe around Beelzebub, the sixth born.
Your eyes caught him in the pool that was several feet away from you. He was joined by his twin and locked in a fierce game with the second and third born. Well, you say fierce but its clear that Beelzebub is the victor. Mammon and Leviathan were no match against Beel’s pure strength. And had Belphegor been with anyone else besides his twin, he definitely would not have stood a chance against a team up of his older brothers.
You weren’t too interested in their game play, however. Your eyes were trained on Beel. Even before this boat fiasco, your eyes have never strayed far away from the gluttonous demon. For a long time, you didn’t know if it was a crush or if you’re just naturally drawn to his sweet nature.
“Or maybe that chiseled body of his.”
The tips of your ears grew hot as the thought crept in, replacing your previous anxiety-ridden thoughts. Your mind soon became riddled with images of Beelzebub’s torso. Mostly of his glorious pecs and washboard abs because this demon was built like a freaking Greek God. God knew exactly what he was doing when he made him, but him being a demon made his appeal so much greater! It was, in every sense of the word, sinful.
You were brought back to reality when you heard a large splash and some yelling. You looked up in time to see Levi and Mammon getting flung out of the pool by Beel, all while Belphie napped out on a floating donut. The whole thing brought you to tears as you laughed at the ridiculousness of it all. Mammon had caught you laughing and scolded you.
“Hey, (Y/N)! Don’t laugh, it ain’t funny!,” he yelled, but you continued to chuckle. You felt a little bad, but it was so unexpected as Beel had grabbed them by their feet and literally threw them out.
“(Y/N) witnessed our defeat...how uber lame,” muttered Leviathan as he rubbed his now aching back.
Wiping away your tears, you let out an amused sigh and went off on your own to explore the boat. You were unaware of Beel calling after you as you walked away.
________________________________________________________________
You thought it would be a good idea to explore the boat since Lord Diavolo had bought it and anything he buys is always luxurious. And it was but...
As you wandered the halls, you suddenly understood what sailors meant by sea legs. Although the boat was mostly steady, there would be an occasional gentle rocking of the boat. And had it been anyone else, it would have been fine but no! It completely unsettled you and your thoughts once again became filled with disturbing scenarios of that all ended in you meeting your end in some extreme way or another.
“Oh why did I think it was okay to go off on my own?,” you thought.
Feeling sick to your stomach, you thought it best to just retire to your room and calm your incessant thoughts. You flopped onto your bed and buried your face into your pillow. You hope this day would end so you could finally get off this nightmare. You tried to refocus your mind on something else, because even with you running through every possibility of drowning in every way possible, you were aware that you were in safe hands. None of the brothers would ever let you meet such an end in this never-ending sea full of wonders and mysteries.
You thought back to earlier and found yourself thinking of Beel once more.
The images from earlier made you kick your legs as your face became hot and flushed. You groaned into your pillow with frustration.
“Fuuuuckkkk!,” you screamed internally, feeling slightly ashamed for thinking about Beelzebub in such a manner. But thinking of him did make the other thoughts fade away to the background. Plus you may have a crush on him, so..was it totally wrong to fantasize about him showing up to your room, body dripping with water and looking at you with lust filled eyes?
....Okay, hold up, that actually is kinda hot.
It was the most prevalent image in your head. It made you wonder if you would have the chance to actually have Beel in your room and let him take you. Or maybe have the courage to be that daring?
You felt a tingling sensation between your legs and rolled on your back, blushing. You dwelled on the thought a little more to the point that it became a fantasy. And you imagined Beelzebub crawling towards you on your bed until his face was a couple inches away from yours. His rough hands were on your thighs, lifting them up so your clothed sex could feel the hardness of his bulge clothed from the thin material of his swim shorts.
The heat within your core began to grow and before you knew it, you were already trying to calm the growing heat with your hand. You were craving for the imaginary touch that only existed in your mind. Rubbing against your clit, the fantasy progressed into Beel removing your clothes and pushing his shorts down to free his hardened member. You imagined him stroking his cock against your sensitive slit that was getting wetter and wetter in reality.
Your breathing became heavy and you brought up a free hand to go under your shirt and bra to twist at your nipples. The fantasy continued as you imagined Beel dipping his fingers inside of you, stretching out your pussy to prepare you for him.
Moans started to escape from your lips as your hands worked on your body to bring you the stimulation and release you desperately searched for. You weren’t aware of it but you were also moaning Beel’s name. Apparently you were being a bit loud, because you failed to hear the knocking at your door and the sound of it opening until...
“(Y/N).”
You snapped out of your fantasy-filled haze when you heard your name. Suffice to say, you were extremely embarrassed to find a blushing Beelzebub in your room, half-eaten snacks in his hands. You quickly covered yourself up with a shout, but it was much too late. You were sure that he had saw everything. He probably even heard you too.
“Waah! I’m so fucking embarrassed! Oh my God,” you cringed, trying so hard to fold in on yourself so you could disappear.
“Ah, (Y/N)! I’m sorry! I didn’t mean to barge in like that,” he apologized profusely. He saw your covers move a bit but no sign of you poking your head out. You whined as you stammered out, “It’s fine! I should have locked my door. I didn’t mean for you to see me...like that...so.”
Ahhh, if anything was more worse than drowning in an ocean where your body likely won’t be found, it was definitely having your crush walk in on you masturbating to him. Ok, maybe not that much worse but still! Tears began to well up in your eyes and you fully expected for Beelzebub to walk out as this situation must have been a bit awkward. But instead you felt your bed dip in a bit as another weight was added. A hand was placed on your back and started rubbing in circles. Your lip trembled as your tears fell, because WHY WAS HE SO FREAKING SWEET!?
Yeah, you were definitely crushing on him. This is why he was the only one on the crush list.
Beelzebub could feel you trembling and his face was still red from walking in on you. Though if he had to admit it, seeing you like that really turned him on. And to hear you moan his name so wantonly was like music to his ears. But he still felt bad because it was your private time that he interrupted. All because he wanted to hang out with you since he wanted to do so earlier, but you didn’t hear him calling after you.
But now there was a massive elephant in the room and neither of you knew how to bring it up without it becoming more awkward. Or your in case more embarrassed.
“(Y/N)?”
“Yes, Beel?”
“I’m still sorry for earlier. I wanted to hangout, but do...do you want me help you a bit?”
You shot up like a rocket and turned wide-eyed to face a startled Beelzebub, who was feeling a bit pervy for asking you that question. But to you, he didn’t need to feel like that because this was the moment you were thinking of earlier! You started to laugh at the irony, causing Beel to become confused which you noticed.
“I’m sorry, I’m sorry! I’m not laughing at you, Beel!,” you chuckled out. “It was just that earlier I was thinking of what would I do if I had you in my room all to myself.”
At that, the gentle giant smiled at you, understanding why you were laughing. He crawled towards you, his face a few inches from yours. You were smiling but your face grew warm.
“So is it a ‘yes’?,” he asked, though his lips were drawing in close to yours.
“Y-yes-mmph,” his lips had closed in on yours and you felt his hands come up to your shoulders. Sliding off the covers from your body, Beel gently laid you back on the bed. You wrapped your arms around him as he coaxed your mouth open with a bit of prodding from his tongue. You could taste the sweetness of the snacks he had earlier as your tongues became entangled. You gasped when he pulled away.
Beelzebub set his focus on leaving kisses on your neck, starting a trail. He got to your breasts and cupped them in his hands, firmly squeezing them. A squeal escaped from your lips when you felt his wet tongue teasing your nipple. He sucked it into his mouth, pulling before letting it go with a pop.
"Ahhaaa, Beel! Please," you pleaded as he devoured your chest. You couldn't take it with him pulling, twisting, and sucking on your sensitive nubs. Your hands had moved to his forearms and you held a firm grip on them as Beel sucked away.
With a final tug, he left your poor nipples alone, going back to his task of leaving butterfly kisses on your body. Your body trembled with ecstasy but soon jolted from a shock when you felt a wet appendage lapping at your swollen clit.
Once Beel had finished leaving you kisses, he came across your pussy, still wet and glistening from when you were masturbating to him. His eyes darkened as his mind drifted back to that scene of you pleasuring yourself, seeing your delectable juices dripping your core.
He just knew that he had to taste you. To devour such a pretty, pink platter that was meant for him to sample. As soon as his tongue made contact with your clit, he felt you jump but he continued to lap at it, enjoying the taste and fragrance you gave off. You squirmed and your pants started to fill the room. Your toes curled and your feet had a hard time not slipping off your sheets as you encouraged Beel to keep going.
His tongue parted your puffy, pussy lips and he noticed your legs trembling. So he hooked his hands underneath your knees, spreading them further to her better access. He let your legs rest on his shoulders, all the while keeping his mouth on you.
"Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck," you chanted over and over as your back arched, wanting to rub your sex over his tongue. You could feel yourself coming undone and on the verge of cumming. Beel's member twitched against the thin fabric of his swim shorts as he could tell your release was imminent, but...
Reluctantly, he pulled away from your pussy. He really wanted you to release all your tasty juices over his cock. He wiped away the mix of his saliva and your own cream from his chin.
You groaned but it turned into a squeak when Beel crawled back on top of you. Your legs were still over his shoulders and so you felt your body being folded in half but it wasn't too uncomfortable. But it aroused you more as you could feel his bulge heavy against your sex. You wanted it inside, for it to stretch your walls as you take every inch Beel gave you. For you to cream all over it so you could lick it off him and he could do it all over again.
Beelzebub's lips pressed against yours and you wasted no time parting your lips so his tongue could share the taste of your pussy. You could feel Beel's hands fumbling to pull down his shorts to let his cock finally breath. His lips never left yours, even as he guided his cock to your hole. You had braced yourself but was pleasantly surprised when he sanked into you with ease, but it still raised a moan out of you as your wall stretched to accommodate him.
Beel broke the kiss to let out a hissing sound as your pussy took him in so smoothly. He could feel you clenching around him, wanting to greedily take in more. But he was fully seated inside you, his balls pressed firmly against the plumpness of your ass.
"Shit...(Y/N), you feel so fucking amazing," he said as he recaptured your lips with his and rocked his hips to get a little friction going. He pulled back until only half of his dick was inside and slammed back into you. He repeated the action a few more times, drawing out moans that ended up getting swallowed up by him.
You pulled away from the kiss to cry out freely as he set a hard, quick pace as his hips connected with yours repeatedly. The slapping sound of your skin colliding overcome the sounds of your moans and cries. Beel couldn't help but groan at the way your pussy tightened around him with every thrust. Your body trembled against his as the heat became overwhelming. Your hands scrambled to grip at something, changing from scratching at Beelzebub's back or balling up your sheets into your fist, as you feared that the pleasure was going to take you away.
The seams were tearing and Beel could feel you were close as your pussy convulsed around him. So he sat up, holding your legs up, and pounded away at you. Your moans turned to screams and chants of Beel's name as his cock wrecked you.
"Beeeeel! I'm cumming, cumming!," you screamed, but it didn't deter him even as your released overflowed on his cock. The consistent clenching of your pussy finally drove him over the edge and his seed coated the inside of your walls, a deep growl erupted from him as he pressed his cock deep inside you.
With the both of you spent for the moment, Beel slipped out of you and collapsed beside you. However, he wrapped his arms around you to bring you closer. You sighed contently, feeling very much satiated as well as Beelzebub.
You felt lips pressing against your forehead and giggled before giving Beel a chaste kiss on the lip.
"That was amazing," you smiled. You saw his cheeks redden and the hug tightens.
"I-I would like to do that again...maybe sometime," spoke the blushing giant as he looked into your eyes.
The tips of your ears turning red as you agreed.
You figured this boat nightmare wasn't too bad as you snuggled up to Beel's chest, wondering if you had the courage to say you like him.
You saved the thought for another day to ponder later.

The Way Home - Chapter 4
A fresh start. That’s what she needed. Not the turn of a page, or a new chapter, but a brand new book.
She left everything behind, and just hoped that she had better things ahead.

“I know you’re in there, love,” Ian yells through the door, his words punctuated by his fist pounding on the door.
“Go away, Ian,” Emily replies, her eyes fixed on the chain across the door, hoping it holds out as it should. “Don’t make me call the police.”
“Just let me in,” he says, his voice softer now, the shaking of the wooden door stopping, “we can talk about it.”
“I don’t want to talk about it. I want you to leave me alone.”
There’s a beat of silence, and she briefly thinks he’s gone, that for once he’s listened to her, but then the loud banging on the door starts again. The frame almost shuddering with the force of it, a photo of her and her mother on the side table next to it inching closer to the edge.
“You’ve ruined my fucking life,” he yells, his anger clear, almost sharp enough to cut through the wood itself, “I’m going to ruin yours.”
The door splinters open, and she screams.
___
Emily shoots up in bed, disorientated for a moment as she heaves in a deep breath her hand over her mouth as she tries to steady herself.
It was a dream. A memory twisted by her subconscious, made worse by her thinking she’d seen him a couple of weeks ago. There had been a few moments since, the back of her neck burning as she half convinced herself she was being watched. A feeling that had ultimately driven her to move in the first place, restart her life yet again.
He didn’t know where she was. It was something she kept repeating to herself. Over and over again like a mantra, until she could believe it.
He didn’t know where she was.
Even if he did, she had a restraining order out against him. He wasn’t allowed within 50 feet of her, a court order she’d had put in place after the incident she had just dreamt about. Her mother using her influence in a way Emily deemed helpful for once, although she was sure she would never be allowed to forget it.
There were still 5 months left on the order, the 12 months she’d been granted slipping by quickly. Ian wasn’t stupid. He was a lot of things, but that wasn’t one of them.
He wasn’t stupid, but he could be cruel, and she knew he’d get a kick out of her being on edge like this.
The knocking on her front door, gentler than it had been in her dream, makes her jump. She forces herself out of bed, her hopes of a lie-in dashed, and she slowly makes it out of her bedroom. Quietly approaching the door, hoping whoever was on the other side didn’t hear her.
She looks through the peephole and feels relief flood her system when she sees it’s Aaron, the last bit of what now felt like irrational fear leaving her. She undoes the chain of the door, and it’s only when she pulls it open she remembers she’s still in her pyjamas. The small pair of shorts and tank top she is wearing leaves her feeling exposed.
“Aaron, hi.” She says, internally cursing herself when she hears the slight shake in her voice, the slight crease between his eyebrows giving away the fact he heard it too. “Is everything ok?”
“Yeah, I’m fine.” He replies, his frown deepening. “Are you ok?”
“I’m ok.” She says quickly, flashing him a tight smile. “What are you doing here?”
“It’s 9am,” Aaron explains as if it was obvious, and she continues to stare at him. Her brain still not fully online after her dream and her abrupt awakening, “we both have class.”
“Oh,” she breathes out, chuckling, “right, sorry. Mine was cancelled. I meant to mention it.”
“Ok.” He says, still frowning at her, licking his lips as he looked at her as if he was trying to read her. “Are you sure you’re ok?”
“I told you, I’m fine.” She crosses her arms over her chest, clearing her throat as she looks to the ground, avoiding his gaze. “You should go, you don’t want to be late.”
“Emily-”
“I’m fine.” She snaps, cutting him off. His kindness and concern felt like needles sticking into her skin, something about it making her feel unsteady, a slight discomfort spreading through her veins as she realises it was something she could get used to. She looks back up and sees the hurt flash across his face, and she sighs, wiping her hand over her face. “I’m sorry. I’m ok,” she says, knowing they both knew she was lying, “you should go.”
Aaron looks at her for a few seconds, briefly looking like he was going to argue with her, before he nods, conceding to her request. “Ok. I’ll see you later?”
“Yeah. Later.” She smiles tensely at him, nodding as he gives her a slight wave as she closes the door on him.
She blows out a breath as she walks away from the door, barely getting a few paces away before there's another knock. She turns and opens it without checking who was there, fairly sure she knew anyway. She sighs and closes her eyes when as expected Aaron is still standing there.
“Aaron-”
“Do you want to go for coffee?”
She opens her eyes and looks at him, raising her eyebrow at him. “You have class.”
“I can skip just this once.” He replies, a soft smile spreading across his face. He must see her doubt because his smile widens as he leans against her door frame. “My treat.”
A small part of her, that sounds remarkably like her mother, screams at her that she should say no. That she should insist he go about his day, carry on as if he hadn’t walked in on her clearly spooked by something he hadn’t seen, something he did not know about. She knew she was already edging into dangerous territory with his man. His very presence was a comfort to her that she did not entirely understand. His rare smile and his seriousness were something she found herself craving, seeking them out whenever she could. Doing everything possible to pull smiles from him whenever possible, despite the fact she still barely knew him, his otherwise hidden dimples as close to a solace for her as she had known in some time. She was walking a fine line already, sure she was going to find herself on a path she couldn’t afford to follow.
One she’d walked before more than once. Each time changing her life, leaving her unrecognisable from the person she had been before.
“Ok,” she says before she realises she’s speaking, agreeing to his request before her brain could fully catch up with her, “but you’re getting me breakfast too.”
A laugh peels out of him, and those dimples make a brief appearance. “Breakfast it is.”
___
Wherever she was expecting him to take her, it wasn’t the old-school diner he guides her into. It was pink and white, the leather on the seats faded slightly, a neon sign in the window letting everyone know it was open 24-7.
“If Pen was a place, this would be it.” Emily says as she stops just inside the door, Aaron standing just behind her, the bell on the door ringing as it opens and closes.
“You get used to it.” He replies, taking a step past her, indicating that she should follow him as he walks towards a booth.
“You come here a lot?” She asks as she follows him, sitting down opposite him.
“You could say that.” He quips, pushing a menu from the table towards her. “Pick your breakfast.”
She raises an eyebrow at him, a retort on her tongue about how he didn’t have to treat her like his five year old interrupted before she can even open her mouth.
“Aaron, it’s unlike you to be here on your day off.” They both look up to see a blonde woman standing at their booth. She looked young, hopeful. A genuine spark to her smile that instantly made her likeable. “Even more unlike you to have a friend.”
“Thanks, JJ.” He deadpans, narrowing his eyes at her. “This is Emily, my neighbour.”
JJ turns to look at her, her smile widening. “Nice to meet you.” She looks back and forth between the two of them. “Coffee?”
“Yes please,” Aaron answers, staring at JJ as she winks at him, clearly unaffected by his attempt to be stern. She walks away, going to get them their drinks, not even hiding that she was looking back at the two of them.
“So, you work here,” Emily says, drawing his attention back to her. She makes a show of looking around, the gaudy decorations making her smile. “When you said you worked in a coffee shop this isn’t exactly what I was expecting.”
“It’s good for shifts around classes and Jack.” He explains, obviously trying to fight a smile. JJ wordlessly comes back over and puts two cups of coffee down, saying she’ll give them a few more minutes to think about food before walking away again, her pink uniform a flash of colour as she leaves as quickly as she arrived.
“Is your uniform pink too?” She has to bite her lower lip to stop herself from smiling, a battle she loses when he rolls his eyes at her.
“Em.”
“Sorry,” she says, the word lost in a laugh. “I appreciate you bringing me here.” She flashes him a brief and tight smile. “I think I needed to get out of the apartment more than I realised.”
She’d felt on edge the moment they’d left their apartment block, and if Aaron noticed he didn’t say anything. He simply carried on filling her in on Jack’s latest antics, how the little boy kept asking to see her again, as she looked around them. Desperate to see if there was a familiar face, a pair of eyes she was once in love with.
“It’s no problem.” He replies, his smile turning serious. “Are you sure you’re ok? You seemed on edge when you answered your door earlier.”
“Aaron,” she sighs, her hands wrapping around her cup of coffee. “I’m ok.”
“That’s clearly not true.” He says firmly, reaching for his own cup. For a second she sees his hand twitch, as if he had stopped himself from reaching out for her. She lets herself imagine it. The heat of his skin against hers, something she had only fleetingly felt as he reached for her book bag some mornings, carrying it for her despite her protests.
She wanted to tell him. Wanted to get it off her chest, the weight of it threatening to crush her, already having stolen the breath from her lungs as soon as she woke up that morning. She wanted to let him know about her ex-boyfriend and the mess she had found herself in through no fault of her own. Dragged into a situation by a charming smile and promises she now knew Ian could never keep.
But she couldn’t.
Aaron had a son, he was going to be a lawyer. He couldn’t afford to be dragged into her mess.
“I appreciate it,” she says, her lips in a firm tight line, “but I don’t need you to save me from whatever you might think I need saving from.” She takes a sip of her coffee, the bitterness of it matching how she felt for a moment, wishing she could fight against her instinct to push him away. “We barely know each other.”
It’s mean and she knows it, but it has the effect she was looking for. They fall into silence, and it’s awkward. The playful spark that had existed between them in the last few weeks extinguished, gone before it could truly catch fire.
She thinks it might be for the best.
“November 2nd.”
She looks up at him from the table, moving so quickly she almost strains her neck. She scrunches her nose up at him in confusion, trying to figure out what he meant.
“What?”
“My birthday.” He says as if it was obvious, looking at her expectantly. “So we can get to know each other.” She chuckles at him, shaking her head. He continues to look at her as if he was waiting for her to say something, and she sighs.
“October 12th.”
“Only a month to go then.” He replies. “I’ll keep that in mind. Favourite colour?”
She rolls her eyes, “Aaron-”
“I would have always said blue,” he explains, his gaze flicking over her outfit, her shoulders exposed in the red tank top she had changed into as he waited outside her apartment before they headed out, “but I’ve started to like red a bit more recently.”
She smiles at him, her own dimples emerging when his eyes widen slightly, as if he had realised what he had said after he had said it. His cheeks flushing a little, in a way she knew was uncharacteristic from the few weeks she had known him.
She suddenly finds herself unable to resist his kindness any longer, any remaining fight in her fading away.
“Red.” She says finally, smiling at him when their eyes meet. “Red is my favourite too.”
He smiles at her, the widest she’d seen it yet, and her stomach flips in a way she can no longer ignore. ___
She’s running late. Again.
She rushes around her apartment, grabbing the homework that she’d been up until 2 am finishing from the dining table as she goes, unceremoniously stuffing it into her bag as she goes, the door leading to the hallway already half-open.
“Thanks for watching him,” an unfamiliar voice says, “I know it’s not usually your day.”
“He’s my son Haley, I’m always happy to see him.”
Emily looks up as she hears Aaron’s voice, the conversation he’d been having with the blonde woman standing outside of his apartment coming to a sudden stop when they both realise she is there. She can now see where Jack gets most of his features from, his light colouring clearly inherited from his mother.
“Emily!” Jack exclaims, running towards her and hugging her legs like they were old friends. Giving the impression they had met more than the one time they had, the disjointed conversation they’d had in her living room as Aaron fixed her kitchen sink.
“Hi Jack,” she says, patting him gently on the back as she looks down at him, hyper-aware of Haley’s firm stare. “Good to see you again.”
“Jack, Emily is clearly going somewhere,” Aaron says, encouraging his son to let go of her. They lapse into silence so tense it reminds Emily of dinners at her mother’s house, the air full of things people wanted to say but couldn’t.
“I’m Haley,” Haley says, taking it upon herself to start introductions when Aaron fails too, “Jack’s mom.”
Emily smiles politely at her. “I’m Emily, it’s nice to meet you.” She clears her throat as the tension returns, and she looks down at her watch. “I should go, I’m running late. It was nice to meet you.”
She walks away before she can catch Aaron’s eye, not sure she’d like what she would find there. She’s still within hearing distance when Haley asks who she is, and Aaron explains that she’s just his neighbour. His attempts to placate his ex-girlfriend a stab to her chest that she doesn’t expect. The pain sharper than she knows it should be.
She’s still thinking about it when she makes it outside, and that’s why it takes her a second to see the man down the street, carefully keeping his distance from her. She freezes on the spot, her air stolen from her lungs as her eyes meet his.
Ian stares back at her, a sly smile on his face as he lifts his hand to wave at her. One of his ice-blue eyes closes in a wink before he turns and walks away, disappearing into a crowd of students just leaving their class.
She’s rooted where she stands. Unable to move as her body betrays her instinct to go back into her apartment and lock the door. She takes a deep breath and pushes the fear down, swallowing it, the taste sharp. Like acid in her lungs. She walks forward, continuing her journey to class.
She’d already run away from him once. Hiding away from him in a way she hated.
She makes it to class but doesn’t absorb any of it. Looking out of the window as if she’d spot him again, the familiar paranoia sinking in. Its presence almost welcome, like meeting an old friend after too long apart.
He’d found her. He’d fucking found her.

-
Left you out there standing
Crestfallen on the landing
Champagne Problems
-
March.
-
Harry wasn’t exactly sure when you and him had drifted apart. Logically he knew every relationship had points where things may feel repetitive or where both people struggle, but the two of you had never felt this cold.
That doesn’t stop the guilt that sinks his stomach and causes his lungs to constrict when you hang the phone up. “Y/N?” He asks in response to the obvious dial tone.
The guilt doesn’t stop him from staying at the pub. Niall had left hours ago with a hurried goodbye. Jennifer had declined going out at all, saying all she wanted was rest. All who was left was Mitch, Harry, Ally and their semester law intern, Hannah.
“Everything okay at home?” Ally asks kindly as Harry slips into the booth. Mitch raises his eyebrows as Harry shrugs. “She sounds pissed, but no emergency.”
“If she sounds pissed why are you still here?” Mitch laughs. It sounds uneasy to Harry as his friend looks him up and down confused. “I remember when you used to refuse going out with us because you didn’t want Y/N upset.”
Harry takes a sip of his beer and looks away. The pub was mostly filled with other suits. More lawyers from the firm who worked in offices Harry never visited. Doctors from the hospital two blocks away.
He turns his head back to look at Mitch when he feels a hand graze his knee. “I think you deserve a break.” Hannah says quietly. Harry watches as Mitch shakes his head, but turns away before his friend can say anything else.
(Because Mitch’s stare just forces the guilt up Harry’s throat and he’s afraid it’ll come out in vile. Things were never supposed to go this far with Hannah. It was supposed to be stupid flirting and compliments. Nothing that could break you. It was never supposed to break you.)
(Harry hadn’t done that good of a job.)
-
Harry wasn’t drunk. He hadn’t been drunk since law school. He was an adult. With a high paying position at a sought out law firm. He didn’t get drunk.
You didn’t leave the porch light on though, so it’s a little hard for him to focus on getting the key in the door and also being quiet. But he’s not drunk, so he can do it. He does it.
He pauses as he drops his keys onto the entry table. The entire first floor is dark. He slips his shoes off as well and leaves them by the door in order to avoid trying to find the correct cubby for them.
You had left the hallway light on upstairs, so most of the staircase was illuminated enough for Harry to make it up them without missing a step. That didn’t stop him from stumbling up the last three though.
He can see the bedroom light had been left on as well. He listens for the sound of you talking to Jack or even just the baby’s giggles, but when all he hears is silence, he assumes you had fallen asleep writing. He pushes the door open.
You’re sitting on the edge of the bed and twisting your ring around your finger as you gnaw on your bottom lip. Your head shoots up when you hear the door open and Harry’s eyes widen. “Y/N?” He feels his eyes squint at the bright overhead light feeling much harsher with your glare.
He ignores the pit in his stomach as he lifts his wrist the check the time, “Why are awake? It’s almost three in the morning. (He never meant for this happen. He was never supposed to be in this scene.)
You shrug and let out a laugh that Harry could only describe as empty. The pit in his stomach grows as you whisper harsh words, “I’m well aware of how ridiculously late it is, Harry. I figure I should be awake though, it’s the only time I’ll see you.”
Harry looks away as he pulls his jacket off and lays it on the bed beside where you were sitting. “What are you talking about?” In order to avoid your stare he focuses his attention to his white button up. He hands fumble and he notices you stand in his peripheral version.
His hands pause for a moment, like he expects your hands to steady his shaking ones like they normally did. You almost do, he notices, but a look crosses your face and your arms cross over your chest defensively.
“The kids missed you.” You say quietly.
Harry knows what’s coming as his hands fall completely away from the shirt and he finally looks at you. He feels tears rush to his eyes as the guilt from earlier in the night returns tenfold. “I missed them too.” He says quietly.
“Seph asked me if you were leaving us.” The words feel like a punch to the gut as you just watch him stand and process them. Seph asked that? Had he really been gone so often his first daughter, his best friend, was worried he wouldn’t come back one day?
“She what?” Harry flinches when he hears his voice crack. “I would never leave you guys, I love you.”
You look away. “Do you?” And if your words about Persephone had felt like a punch, these felt like a gunshot. Pain splintering from his chest throughout his entire body.
“What?” He almost yells. But he knew the kids were asleep. He never wanted to wake his kids up to fighting. He feels like he’s sobering up fast and it’s making him nauseous. He takes a hesitant step towards you before placing his hand gently on your cheek.
Or at least, attempting to. You flinch away and Harry’s hand falls to his side. “Y/N,” He starts quietly. “Don’t think-”
Your laughter cuts him off as your eyes flick angrily back to his. “if you wanted me to believe that, you wouldn’t come home smelling like another woman.” Harry’s heart freezes as his eyes widen. You pull his left hand up, “You wouldn’t leave your wedding ring out for me to see every time I was my hands.”
Harry tries to pull his hand back, ashamed at the idea of his ring haunting you, but your grip only tightens. “You wouldn’t have a hickey. One I didn’t give you considering we haven’t had sex in months.” Your other hand is point hard into his chest to where a mark lays covered partially by his shirt.
You let go of him as you fall onto the edge of the bed and look up at him with tears. He feels his chest constrict as he sits down next to you. He pulls both your hands into his, “Y/N...” He says quietly. “I am so sorry.”
Tears threaten to spill from his eyes as you try to pull away from him. “Am I not good enough?” You ask quietly. He pulls you to him but you thrash in his arms. “Seventeen years of my life. Four kids. Everything. I gave you everything.” You’re crying but your voice is cold.
You’re thrashing stops and it’s silent. Harry reluctantly lets go of you and you immediately stand up again. You look at him expectantly and Harry feels like he’s going to throw up as he looks down at his hands.
“It didn’t mean anything.” he says quietly. Truthfully. “It never meant- I love you.” He stresses. He falls from the bed to his knees in front of you. “You’re the love of my life.” He thinks of college. His law school graduation. He thinks getting promoted and buying your home.
He thinks of divorce papers as you look away from him. “How long?” You ask quietly.
“Please.” Harry begs. Where would he go if you kicked him out? Mitch would tell him he was an idiot. He loved you. Would his mom take your side? She should, he thinks. Gemma would want to kill him.
“How long?” You ask coldly. Your face has steeled itself. Harry can see the tension in your jaw and almost feels his dinner coming up.
“A month.” He wraps his arms around you. He nuzzles his face into your stomach. He sees your hand twitch, almost like you want to run a hand through his hair. “It meant nothing. Y/N. I’ll end it right now.”
Stupid. His head screams. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid.
“Okay.” You unwrap yourself from his arms and step away. Harry watches you confused as you move towards your side of the bed. “I’m going to bed.” You rub a hand over your face before laying down.
Harry stands awkwardly unsure of what to do with himself. He knew he couldn’t sleep in the bed. That something like that was probably the last thing you wanted to do.
“Take a shower. Sleep in the guest room.” Your back is facing him and he sees your arms wrapped around yourself. This bed is too big for one person, he thinks. That’s selfish of you; His conscious tells him.
He moves quickly to get pajamas from the closet. He debates showering in the ensuite, maybe he’d be able to see you again before sleeping, but he turned out of the room.
He would shower in the kids bathroom.
-
The guest room was cold. It was the only bedroom downstairs and that made it felt ten times lonelier to Harry. It was rarely used too. Gemma would stay in it when she visited L.A, but she had gotten her own apartment in the city and it was no longer used frequently.
Your parents lived only an hour away and had no need to spend nights at your house and his mother was rarely able to make the flight over the ocean. It felt like something staged for the sale of a house.
Harry sighs as he sits on the edge of the bed. With his head in his hands he thinks over where he went wrong. He had never meant for this to happen. For any of this.
The distance had been a byproduct of the stress. He was worried about the kids. He had done the numbers and sure you two were well off, but four kids was expensive. You had stored any more you’d made from your book in savings. A rainy day fund didn’t calm Harry’s nerves.
So he worked more. And he went out after work for a drink or two. And he talked. That’s what it had started out as. Just talking numbers over with Hannah, who helped him work them out. She wanted to be a divorce lawyer. Or maybe it was just broad family law.
Harry thought that was ironic now that his marriage would probably be over. It was running through numbers. Maybe there was a hand on the knee or feet that were just too class together. Things he had brushed off as accidents and completely unintentional. Then it had been him walking her to her car. Then she had kissed him and well- Harry isn’t blameless.
It would be ridiculous for him to say he was.
He falls back onto the bed and lets out a shaky breath. How had he been so stupid?
He sits back up immediately and pulls out his cellphone. He hadn’t even saved her number. They almost never texted and would usually just see each other at the bar. It had only been two weeks since they had kissed by her car. They had only-
He can’t believe he had let it get this far. He can’t believe he’s sitting here justifying himself with onlys.
He’s unsure of what to say. Should he apologize? It wasn’t anymore her fault than it was his own.
I have kids and a wife I love. This was wrong. I’m sorry.
Harry flinches. He felt gross and guilty. The shower hadn’t done anything but sobered him up. He felt everything over and over. Nausea, a headache bound to come on, guilt and just pain.
He pulls up Mitch’s message strain. Won’t be in tomorrow. Not feeling great.
He responds within minutes. Hope she doesn’t leave your ass. I’d take her side.
Harry lets out an empty laugh. Wouldn’t everyone? His mother loved you. She had since the two of you had met in college. When you had found out you were pregnant a semester before graduation his mother had been nothing but supportive; Especially when your parents had poorly hidden their own disappointment.
Gemma thought of you as the sister she never had. Her and Harry were close, but over the last almost twenty years you and her had grown closer.
His mind drifts to the kids. How could he do this to the kids? Force them go through what had been devastating to him. He may not practice family law, but he knew how it worked. You worked from home all the time and had been taking care of them their entire lives.
They would ask the kids where they wanted to go, they would refuse to leave their mother. Harry would too, you were home to everyone in the family. Life without you sounded meaningless.
Why did you do it then? He shakes his head. He doesn’t know. It wasn’t like you had stopped giving him attention, there was no time for sex and work got in the way of dates. It was his fault.
Fuck. Fuck. Fuck. The word repeats itself over and over again in his head. . Even if he could find ways you had ignored him or cast him to the side it would be pointless. It would be placing blame on a blameless person. It was his fault.
He crawls under the comforter. It’s nowhere near as soft as the one you had chosen for the bedroom. The sheets weren’t slept in so they didn’t feel as soft and worn. Harry thinks of having to find his own sheets and bed, his heart drops.
He doesn’t sleep. Unable to stop the back and forth of how do I fix this and will she even let me try?
-
Harry’s fingers tap incessantly on the drivers wheel as he makes his way home from Serena and Oliver’s school. Persephone had been pretty silent to entire drive to her high school, but Oliver had done more than covered for her with his stories.
How had it gone from breakfast together at least once a week and and family game nights to Oliver wanting nothing more than to be in his mother’s car and Persephone sitting in pure silence.
Harry’s mind trails back to you as he drives. You had barely spared him a second glance as you sat down to join them at the breakfast table. He had felt his hesitant smile drop when you looked away from him. And even though talking to the kids all morning had caused his happiness to jump, there was still pain steadily flowing as he thought of what your plan was.
Would you kick him out? Selfishly, he thought that was his biggest fear. Not having you and the kids to come home to everyday and losing the comfort it had always brought him. he had taken advantage of it and now that it could slip through his fingers at any moment he felt disgusting.
The drive allows him to wallow in his thoughts, but pulling into the driveway is a far worse feeling. Knowing that you were inside and could give him news that would kill him.
Was he allowed to feel that way? He asks himself. Like you leaving him would kill him, when it would be because of his own choices. He takes a deep breath and forces himself to straighten himself out as he steps out of the car and begins the walk towards the front door.
He mumbles apologies and empty words as he walks up. Unsure of what he could say to you to break the silence. When he opens the door, you’re sitting with Jack as he babbles and plays with his toys on the floor.
“Forgot how much Olly could talk.” Harry settles on starting with. He lets out an awkward laugh as you stand and lift Jack up before placing him in the play pen. You lean down and tickle him gently. “Please don’t escape, little Houdini.” Once you let him go and step away the young boy crawls away with a giggle.
You make your way towards the kitchen silently and Harry walks behind you with a nervous buzzing feeling in his chest.
You take a deep breath and Harry watches as you slide a piece of paper over the counter and towards. As his eyes scan down the list he feels a sliver of hope creep into his heart.
“What’s this?” He asks quietly. It’s names and phone numbers that have his heart beating a million miles per second.
“A list of marriage counselors.” His eyes follow your finger as you point towards each name and number. “For us to see once a week.”
The hope in him is growing by the second as words keep coming out of your mouth. “You’re not leaving me?” He blurts out in shock.
Your stance turns defensive and Harry takes a deep breath trying to calm himself. “No.” You answer quietly. “Not yet anyways.” Harry can’t help the furrow of his brow as the words hit him. It wasn’t definite and this was a test. You sigh which forced Harry to move his attention back to you. “We have four kids together. A life. And no matter how much you hurt me, I still love you.”
Harry bites back the smile threatening to cross his face. Because despite everything, you love him. You still did. You both glance at your ring finger when he notices you twisting the ring around it. “You’re the love of my life. I don’t want to throw that all away without trying first.”
Harry can’t stop the smile this time as happiness bursts inside him. “Y/N.” He says quietly.
He kind of zones out as he watches you go over what you want to do from here. Counseling and cutting hours back at the firm. Neither a punishment in Harry’s mind.
“I’m not sure if you like, ended it with her.” You start and he nods hastily. “I have. I did last night. I’ll never talk to her again.” He promises. He feels guilt again but part of is held back by the unadulterated hope he has now.
He debates taking the steps towards you before finally deciding it was necessary. When you don’t move away, he pulls you into a cautious hug, one that he’s shocked to feel returned.
“Thank you.” He whispers and you nod.
He would fix this. He swore it. This wasn’t a maybe in his head, it was necessary.

Your heart was glass I dropped it.

Ah, the cafe, the one place that is usually untouched by chaos and crime. The most that generally happened was crime passing by or maybe slamming into the window but nothing more than that. Just the place you could listen to music, drink whatever you desired, and just look at the walls covered in lovely light colors, artwork, and sometimes holiday decorum.
You had just gotten your drink and sat down at the table farthest away from the register and barista area not wanting to be too close to the midday break rush that happened regularly due to the surrounding buildings being filled with interns who were always panicked and rushing around trying to get everything they were instructed to.
Putting your earbuds in you watched the stampede come in and fight to get through the door smirking at the overly excited and well-dressed unpaid workers with papers or phones out. Taking a sip from the straw in your drink you mentally began to take notes of who you thought would start crying first, who would get in the front first, and who would definitely mispronounce the names of every drink on their list.
But before the game could start one more person, a middle-aged gentleman shoved two of them over and started to pull at his pants.
Oh god either way this goes I know I’m not gonna like it. You thought to yourself as you shrunk down in your chair as far as you could go without being on the floor, eyeballs peeking over the table sipping on your drink.
“MOVE. I’VE GOT A GUN.” You chuckled a little bit under your breath not thinking the circumstances through thoroughly. But hey, your first thought was, That’s one way to get your coffee.
“ALL THE MONEY IN THE CASH REGISTER NOW! AND ALL OF YOU, ALL THE MONEY OUT OF YOUR WALLETS AND POCKETS.” He waved the gun around and pointed it at all of the moneyless people he was surrounded by.
“You’re yelling at a bunch of interns, do you really think they get paid for this?” You switched your vision to look at the man standing in the red printed leotard.
“Yo Spiderman I don’t think he heard you, he’s sort of surrounded by screaming people who are not moving.” You stood up from your crouched position and pointed at the group that was standing.
“Y/n?” Your boyfriend’s head snapped over to you as you gave him a little wave.
“Focus!” You snapped your fingers looking at the mess.
“Right, right.” Peter all masked up said “excuse me” and “sorry” a hundred times as he moved them out of the way gently trying to get to the center of confusion.
“Put the gun down sir, I do not wanna hurt you,” Peter spoke getting within 3 feet of the man reaching his hand out to take the gun from the man.
“Fuck yo-” Before he could finish his sentence Peter webbed the gun out of his hand and kicked him in the calf sweeping his left leg off the ground causing him to fall into the counter swiping bottles of creamers and other things onto the ground.
“You guys might consider going to the little coffee shop on the end of the street, Spiderman always makes a mess everywhere he goes and this is gonna be no different.” You got the attention of the interns. They didn’t even consider sticking around the moment you finished your sentence as they ran out the door all their belongings in tack.
“Really? I leave a mess everywhere I go?!” Peter grunted as he kicked the gun away trying to pin the man to the floor. Eventually choosing to just kick him
“You are wrestling in a puddle of liquids used to make drinks.” You shook your head laughing as he jumped over the counter, the workers all ran into the back.
“Oh, I’m sorry crime-fighting gets messy.” He apologized as he threw bags of coffee grounds at the man who kept trying to get up from his current position on the ground.
“You tryna make a drink on the floor? If you wanted coffee that bad you could’ve just ordered some.” You joked as he finally just webbed the guy to the floor.
“Is the coffee shop at the end of the street still opened?” Spiderman questioned as you dialed 911 knowing that the workers would be too stunned to do so.
“Nuh-uh, get a straw and suck all of that off the ground webby. The coffee place down the street doesn’t need this shit.” You pointed at the straws that sat on top of the case full of pastries.
“Hello, I would like to report a robbery in progress.” You told them the rest of the information before hanging up.
“You two know each other?” The robber spoke up on the ground trying to put pieces together intrigued by the back and forth commentary.
“Yeah, I seem to have really shitty luck and for some reason, he’s always the first person to show up.” You walked over to where the robber was jumping up on one of the tables to sit.
“Maybe he has a crush on you?” He questioned looking at Spiderman who was just awkwardly standing there.
“Awe Spiderman having a schoolboy crush, that’s kind’ve cute. You really think so?” You played along with the man tied to the ground.
“I mean yeah.” His New York accent was thick as he spoke louder.
“Spiderman do you have a crush on me?” You sipped your drink and smiled at him as pretty as you could.
“Okay that’s- what’s you-I” He was at a loss for words, but luckily for him the sound of sirens stopped the conversation.
“Time to go, I’ll keep you posted.” You waved goodbye at the man as you walked out the door Spiderman in tow.
Walking out the door you felt a hand come around your waist and your back was pressed flush against a chest before you were suspended in the air. Suddenly you were on top of a building your body had just done this so many times that you had done all of the natural precautions to not get injured or fall.
“I am not cleaning that suit.” You took your hand off of the back of his shoulder wiping it on your jeans since it was soaked and sticky.
“Cmon, if I wash the suit it might shrink or something.” Peter took off his mask sitting behind the tall piece of the building sticking out of the top.
“Maybe you should quit rolling around in shit like a zoo animal. At least this time you smell good.” You sat next to him crossing one of your legs over his.
“I am not a zoo animal okay, I just use what’s around me, I utilize my surroundings.” He tried to reason with you.
“He had a gun, you could’ve shot him in the leg or arm.” You quipped back leaning your head on his shoulder.
“I don’t shoot people. Besides I had that handled.” Peter knocked your foot with his.
“Do I need to pack you a baggie of random objects for you to use so you don’t tear everything up?” You joked with him leaning back laughing a little bit.
“Hey, that could actually work.” He turned his head slightly to face you just a bit smiling at you and actually considering the idea.
“Peter Parker, you are certainly something.” You put emphasis on “something” as you kissed his cheek…

The Acceptance
This is my submission for @darkmcuficswap @darkficsyouneveraskedfor Holiday swap! My giftee is @opheliadawnwalker3. I hope you enjoy hun!
Summary: After a holiday gone terribly wrong you face a decision with the new year.
Holiday: New Year's/Halloween
Warnings: Non Con (PLEASE DO NOT READ IF THIS OFFENDS YOU), SMUT, kidnapping, alcohol.
****I have chosen not to warn for everything, please READ AT OWN RISK****
Words: 4000
Pairing: Stucky x reader
December 31st
The snow captivated you, tiny white flakes drifting down, landing without fear on the cold ground. You pinched your eyes shut and bit your lip, wishing you were one of them, free to fall away from this place.
A knock sounded on the door, but you didn’t turn away from the window. The wood opened, the knock only a formality, you had no privacy anymore. Not here. Not with them.
“I brought you something special to wear tonight.” Steve’s voice used to sound like nails on a chalkboard, you missed those days when you would claw at him, scream, try to find a weapon. The fight in you was burning out with the end of the year. “I hope you’ll wear your makeup and hair to fit the look.”
There was a warning in his voice. You dropped your chin in a nod. He approached you from behind, but you didn’t tense as his hands touched your shoulders.
“Good girl.” He placed a kiss on the top of your head. “If you behave we can have a lot of fun tonight. All of us. I promise Doll.”
“If...if I’m good enough will you let me go?” You turned and looked at Steve with hope that dashed away as soon as you saw the anger in his eyes. “To the pool tomorrow? I want to swim some laps.”
A smile crept on Steve’s face. You used to think of him as a symbol of American pride and righteousness, but now all you could see was the wickedness he hid.
“I think your muscles will be plenty sore after tonight.” He dropped his hands to your waist and pulled you closer. “That was a nice attempt at covering the question though, but you know I can’t let that go unpunished. Would you like to learn your lesson now or ruin our festivities later?”
“I’m sorry. I’m so sorry. I shouldn’t have asked.” Tears spilled as you buried your head into his chest. “Please, let’s have a good night. I’ll be good I promise.”
“Shhhh.” Steve rubbed your back as you fisted his shirt, terrified of what he had in mind. You felt his cock harden underneath his jeans, pressing to your stomach with the hug. “No punishment, but make it up to me right now?”
Steve’s hands slid up your shoulders and he applied a bit of pressure. You nodded your head and locked eyes with him as you dropped to your knees.
He pulled his cock out and you wasted no time taking him into your mouth, flicking your tongue as you gathered saliva to take him deeper.
“There is no leaving here Doll.” Steve’s fist found your hair as he started to work with your movements. “And certainly not for good behavior. I thought you were starting to understand?”
He let out a grunt and you worked his cock faster, reaching between his legs to fondle his balls as his pants slipped down his thighs.
“You are so good. You are the best. Even when you’re bad, you’re too much fun to ever let go.” Steve pushed your head down hard and you fought off the gag. “I bet you’re soaked right now, sucking my cock this way. Just a pool between your legs? Once you stop fighting that and admit how happy you are, instead of asking for a swim asking me to fuck you? Then you might get permission to go, but you’ll never leave because by then you will realize this is where you belong.”
You squeezed your legs together and hated it that he was right. You were dripping. You looked up at him with begging eyes. He nodded and you wrapped your body around his leg, straddling his shin you began to hump him while you continued sucking, taking him deeper and keeping pace with your mouth.
“Fucking beautiful Doll.” Steve bit his lip. “Speed up because I’m going to finish.”
You started to pant as you ground against him, trying to give your clit the pressure and action it needed to send you over the edge while drool ran down your chin. You pressed your tongue hard on the underside of his cock, taking him in with deep strokes.
Your eyes pinched shut, but his hand grabbed your face and you popped them open. Never look away when you cum. He glared at you with the intensity only he had and you exploded around his legs, bits of pleasure making you shake as your heart felt like it was beating out of your chest.
Steve let out a moan and his dick expanded in your mouth before his seed shot to the back of your throat. You flicked your tongue and sucked in your cheeks, knowing better than to let a drop spill.
“Fuck Doll.” Steve pulled out and tucked himself a way. “You are amazing.”
He lifted his leg and you cringed, all too aware of the wet spot on his jeans.
“Don’t worry about it, I’m going to dress nicer tonight anyway.” He kissed the top of your head. “Be ready in three hours.”
You slumped on the floor as he left the room. Your naked body recovering from the orgasm, almost upset it wasn’t more intense. You liked it better when it came from a cock. Your thoughts made you cringe.
You were so used to being naked all the time it didn’t even register any more, and the thought about liking the more intense orgasms?
“What the fuck is wrong with you.” You looked back out to the snow, wondering if you could piece together where it had all gone wrong.
~~
July
“I hate New York.” You plopped down on the park bench next to your friend and pulled out your sandwich. “I’m leaving the city as soon as I can.”
“You’ve only been here six months.” She laughed and handed you a pop. “And you met me right? There’s something positive.”
“I know.” You gave a frown. “I just thought I would get lost in a sea of people, maybe discover myself, but what I’m discovering is I hate crowds, I don’t like my job, and I always feel like someone is watching me.”
“Like a guardian angel?”
“No.” You shook your head. “Like someone is going to jump out of the bushes and grab me. I miss small town middle of nowhere life. Not cut out for the city.”
“Don’t give up yet.” She touched your arm. A loud SNAP came from the treeline and both of your heads whipped in that direction. “Jesus.”
She started to laugh first and then you joined in.
“Come over tonight. We can find you a new job, it’s the land of opportunity.”
“Alright.” You agreed mainly because you didn’t want to be alone.
Your friend continued chatting but your eye’s couldn’t stop looking toward the bushes.
~~
August
“I love New York.” You grinned as you sat down next to your friend.
“You got the job?” She beamed at you.
“I have no idea how or why, but yes. You’re looking at the newest employee of Stark Enterprises.” You kicked your knees up and punched the air. “I mean, it’s a work from home gig, I have no office at the towers, I’m not going to meet the Avengers or anything, but the pay is good and the benefits are nice. Maybe in a few months I’ll have enough to live in a safer neighborhood.”
“Still getting stalker vibes?”
“Big time. I swear I felt someone breathing on my neck the other night.” You touched the spot. “I about sprinted home, but now I’ll never have to leave my apartment.”
“I’m glad you’re calling it home.” She gave you a nudge. “And you will have to leave your apartment! How else are you going to see me? Let’s go out tonight and celebrate.”
“Okay.” You smiled.
“Wow, you must be in a good mood, I don’t know that I’ve ever gotten you out after dark. I was starting to think you were a vampire.”
“I’m a morning person. No clubs, no bars, no crowds, maybe a nice dinner?” You shrugged.
“How are you ever going to meet someone if you don’t do anything social?” She sighed at you. “We’re going to a club. Look nice. I’ll pick you up at nine.”
You wanted to object, but you rolled your eyes. Knowing nothing could make you turn her down. A rock came out of nowhere and hit a pole ten feet from you, the clang making both of you jump.
“Weird.” You scanned the treeline but didn’t notice anything but the wind shaking a few bushes.
“I’m going to call my friend Jonathan. He will have a hot place to go.” Your friend was oblivious to the strange happening.
~~
The club was loud and you felt underdressed. You watched your friend dance away with a stranger and admired her courage, she looked stunning and you looked like you blended in with the wall.
“Can I buy you a drink?” A voice yelled in your ear.
You turned to see a decent looking man, nothing too special, but nothing threatening.
“I’m good.” You shook the full drink in your hand.
“Bartender, two shots or your strongest stuff.” The guy held up his fingers.
“I really, I don’t take shots with strangers. Thank you though.” You started to walk away but he reached out and grabbed your arm.
“Come on, don’t be lame.” The liquid was being poured into the glasses and your stomach turned at the sight. “Take a drink with me.”
Your heart rate went through the roof. You hated saying no almost as much as you hated being grabbed. Your lips parted as you tried to think about how to respond. The internal struggle of obedience mixed with the anger about his hand on you.
Before you could respond the man dropped away. Someone stepped into the middle of you and pushed the man.
“The lady said no.” Was all you could make out over the roar of the club.
The first guy tried to punch the second, but he grabbed his fist and crumbled it. You looked at the scene in horror, clutching your purse.
Violence, alcohol, music, your head began to spin. You turned and walked outside, feeling a panic coming on. The heat of the evening hit your face and you climbed into the nearest taxi, texting your friend as you got a ride home, vowing never to test the New York nightlife again.
~~
September
“We’re going to have to stop having lunch on park benches soon.” You patted the puffer vest you were wearing.
“About that,” she took a deep breath. “I didn’t know how to break it to you, but we’re going to have to stop having lunches altogether.”
“What?” Your eyes went wide. “You’re joking right? You’re like my only friend in the world.”
“Out of the blue, a recruiter offered me this dream position.” She turned and grabbed your hands. “The pay is amazing and that’s not even the best part, it’s like the job was tailor made for me, but it’s in Paris.”
“Paris?!?!” Your jaw dropped.
“We can facetime and you can visit?” She was having a hard time hiding the glee that matched the despair you were feeling.
“Congratulations. I’m so happy for you.” You smiled, not wanting to ruin her moment, hating New York again.
~~
October 31
You taped shut the last of the moving boxes. It was sad seeing your entire life packed up, unable to notice how small the stack was. All the furniture came with the apartment, you weren’t much of a shopper and never got around to getting that cat.
Your phone rang and you recognized your boss’s phone number, picking up right away.
“Hello, Mr. Jones, I’m all packed up.” You set the last box down.
“Good, good. The moving van will be there tomorrow early, we’re looking forward to you joining our team.” His voice sounded oddly familiar, but you kept brushing it off. “And you’re still coming to the party tonight?”
“About that.” You hit your laptop’s button and saw the invitation. “I’m really not much of a party person, and I never got around to getting a costume.”
“I was clear when I offered you the promotion. We’re a small R&D team, we work very closely. It is important you bond with us. People are expecting you, costume and all.” His tone was almost scolding.
“Well, we’re going to be living together. I’m sure there’s plenty of time. I’d rather get settled first.” You almost turned the promotion down because of that fact, but then you looked into Stark Corp’s R&D, a team of 100 people who worked around the clock, if you put in a year there you were golden. It was impossible to turn down even if it did involve living in some town upstate.
“The car is picking you up in an hour. You will be here in five. If you don’t have a costume, then dress nice. People are looking forward to meeting you.” He paused. “I am looking forward to having you.”
“Alright.” You told yourself you heard him wrong before hanging up the phone.
There was something off about the situation. Like you wished you had someone to tell where you were going to stay for the next year. You hadn’t spoken to your friend since the Paris move, and there was really nobody else in your life to tell. The foster parents you hadn’t spoken to in years? The ex who broke your heart? The former best friend he slept with? Maybe the crazy old lady down the hall?
With a tap of the keys you pulled up the email from “Tony Stark'' offering you the position. This was a top level fortune 500 company. There was nothing to worry about. You were being paranoid and needed to accept that your dream was coming true.
~~
This car felt too important for you. The driver was friendly, but you ran out of things to say an hour ago. You glanced at your phone, noting that you were getting close. Then you noticed a no service bar in the corner.
“I’ll have to get a new plan.” You tried to call a random number and got nothing. “No service.”
“No, this is a top secret area.” The driver turned and smiled at you. “No service from any provider. Nothing surrounding the house for 10 miles in any direction, even then it's only a few hunting cabins. Most are abandoned. You must be a very special lady to make the team.”
“I don’t know much about the team, only what the website said, and Mr. Jones of course.” You didn’t think of the isolation when you accepted.
“Tony had the area declared a no fly zone by the US Government.” The driver tapped the wheel. “If you look to your left soon you’ll see the fence. It’s impenetrable.”
Tony? The driver must be high up if that was how he referred to Stark. Your thoughts were distracted when you saw the metal and the wiring shine in the distance.
“This place looks like Jurassic Park.” The driver slowed as the gate opened ahead. “I’m starting to think I’ll get kicked out in a week.”
Anxiety flooded you, you weren’t ready for this. You’d worked there what? A few months? You weren’t this smart, what could you contribute?
“Don’t worry, I have it on good authority you’re perfect for the role.” The driver grinned, it was so genuine and infectious you smiled back and your nerves calmed.
“I understand why people call you Happy.” You relaxed. “It fits.”
“So I’ve been told.” He looked back to the road. “I probably won’t see you again, it was a pleasure driving you though. I’m sure Mr. Rogers will take good care of you.”
“Rogers?” You raised an eyebrow.
“Whatever generic name you want to use, Smith, Mason, Miller, Brown. They’ll assign you one too.” Happy shrugged. “You’re a VIP now.”
A wave of stupidity washed over you. It never occurred to you that pseudonyms were being used.
The house started to come into view. You grabbed the headrests and moved forward. It was a mansion, almost a castle. The place was modern, as if it was made with black glass somehow.
“This is bigger than a football stadium.” You had to crane your neck to see up.
“Just a house Miss.” Happy pulled into the drive. “Nothing you can’t handle.”
He put the car in park and winked at you. All your nerves were calmed, this was perfect. Your dream come true. You were picturing a college dorm situation, but one thousand people could live here, let alone one hundred.
“Thank you.” You opened the door to the car as Happy left and went for the trunk.
You started to stand when something fell off your lap, you chuckled to yourself, your nerves being replaced with excitement as you put on the witch’s hat. A simple accessory that turned your black dress into a costume.
There was a warmth growing in you as you walked up the massive steps, taking in the building in the night sky, almost some primal feeling telling you that you were home.
Happy pushed open the door and set your bag down. You followed after, entering a great hall, you were beaming ready to meet your new team, but your smile faded when you saw it was empty.
“Where is everyone?” You looked at the staircases that wound up to either side, the echo of your voice giving you an empty feeling.
“You got her here in one piece?” Mr. Jones’ voice boomed across the bricks.
“As promised.” Happy shrugged.
“And she wore a costume?” A new voice made you look to the other stairwell.
Your brain tried to register the voices with the faces, but the faces took over.
“Steve Rogers and James Barnes?” Avengers. Real ones. You kept looking back and forth. “What? How important is this place?”
You didn’t know whether to thank them for all they had done for the world or question whether you deserved to be on this team.
“Now that you’re here Doll, it’s the most important place in the world.” They both arrived at the bottom at the same time.
“My cue to leave, have a nice night gentlemen.” Happy sounded so distant as the door shut behind him.
“I’m, my name is, this is so embarrassing.” You let out a laugh as you brought your hand to your chest. “I didn’t think I would be meeting Avengers.”
They walked toward you, both of them as if they were circling you.
“We know your name Doll.” Captain America reached out and touched your chin.
You backed up and ran into the Winter Soldier.
“We know everything about you.” The brunette’s hands slid down your arms and stopped at your wrists. “I’ve been waiting for this for months.”
He placed a kiss on your neck and you started to step forward, but ran right into Captain, who again touched your chin, this time with a little more force.
“What?” You didn’t know what else to say.
“It was getting too difficult to stay away..” Steve pressed his forehead to yours. “Welcome home Love.”
“I’ve…sorry, what?” James’ tongue slid up your neck and you gasped, Steve used the opportunity to slide his own into your mouth.
You were so confused, but reacted on instinct, trying to raise your hands to shove Steve away only to be met with a tighter grip on your wrists by the man behind you.
Steve let out a chuckle while continuing to kiss you as his hands found your breasts. He kneaded them as your brain tried to catch up with your body, his fingers finding your nipples through the material of your dress, you let out a squeal as he gave a pinch.
“Remember, I won the bet.” James’ teeth grazed your neck as Steve stopped the kiss. “She wore a costume.”
Steve scowled as he walked away from you.
“What’s happening?” You tried to fight the fog. “Where am I?”
“You’re home.” Steve walked toward a chair and then sat down, you were too busy watching him you didn’t realize a wrist had been freed until the sound of your zipper going down snapped you back to reality.
Instead of trying to run you attempted to hold the garment up. Anger flashed on Captain America’s eyes as the Winter Soldier tore the entire thing away.
“No clothes. None. I wanted her naked all the time.” Steve reached into his pants and pulled his cock out.
You whimpered at the sight, he was large. Wait what? You were too concentrated on the wrong thing and you didn’t notice your bra sliding down your arms. You started to turn around to shove James away, but he used your motion to flip you over his shoulder and run down the hall.
SMACK! His hand hit with your ass as you bobbed over his shoulder, too shocked to really react. You lifted your head to see the witch hat on the stone floor.
“I’m so proud of you for wearing the costume.” The man dropped you, but before you hit the floor his hand was on your back, laying you down on a fur rug. “But I’ve been proud of you for months. My girl.”
You tried to spin to your stomach and wiggle away, but he placed a cold hand around your neck, not tight but enough to pin you in place as you shoved at his shoulders.
“It’s why I get the honor of fucking you first.” His other hand found your panties and shredded them with ease. “Steve didn’t think you’d listen, but I know what a good girl you are. How perfect. Our good girl.”
“Stop rubbing it in Bucky.” Steve’s voice made you arch your neck to see him sitting in a chair, stroking himself.
A finger ran up your slit and your attention went back to Bucky as you gasped.
“She’s soaked.” He looked up at Steve with a grin.
Everything came flooding down at once and you let out a scream as you renewed your struggles. The men laughed.
“At least give me a show while I tell our new teammate about her position.” Steve dropped to his knees.
Hands were on you as if they had practiced it, James moving to his back so his legs were in front of you while Steve guided you up so you were facing him. The sound of a zipper came again and you felt Bucky’s cock brush against your thighs as Captain America positioned you.
“We like to keep an eye on our people.” Steve spoke as Bucky’s hands grabbed your legs and moved you so your entrance was right about his rigid cock. “And we’ve been watching you for some time now.”
Metal and flesh fingers were on your waist while Steve’s hands went to your shoulders, pushing you down. You moaned as Bucky’s thick head slid inside with more ease than you were aware.
Everything was happening too fast. You struggled to breathe, unsure what to focus on: the cock sliding inside of you or the information being displayed.
You pictured the park, the feeling of a stalker, the fight in the club, the dream job, the better job, your friend’s Paris position.
“That’s good Doll.” Steve licked his lips. “That understanding. You knew. You always knew, but you kept inviting us in.”
“She feels so fucking good.” Bucky lifted his ass while you continued to lower on his cock, feeling it hit your cervix you let out a cry. “She was made for us.”
“You craved us, didn’t you?” Steve cupped your face as Bucky began to fuck you. “You knew what this was. Admit it?”
You didn’t understand anything. You knew nothing.
“No, stop that.” Steve pressed his lips to yours while Bucky dug his fingers into your hips, making you bounce on him. “I see the struggle in your eyes. Stop denying the truth.”
You moaned as Bucky began to make your pussy quake, a coil tightening in your stomach.
“Let her struggle.” Bucky groaned as he held you down, rocking his cock back and forth. “We’ll guide her down the right path.”
“I...I...don’t.” You thought you might have been trying to say no, but your body was being taken over, your mind losing control.
“Oh you do Doll.” Steve brought his thumb to your mouth and you parted your lips as he dragged it along your tongue. “You know. You know this is what you need. It’s been almost a year since you came, you don’t even touch yourself.”
Your eyes went wide with that personal information.
“We know everything.” Steve lowered his wet thumb. “Never lie to us, because we know.”
You cried out as he pressed his digit to your clit, rubbing in circles with such pressure as James railed into you.
There was no warning as you came, your body shaking. Your vision blackened, making you collapse against Steve, shivers sending you to another dimension. Bucky bottomed out, joining you, contracting and filling you with his cum.
“Wait.” You didn’t lift your head, too lost for such a simple task. You didn’t get what was happening, but you knew one thing for sure. “I’m not on birth control.”
“Oh yes you are.” Bucky hit your ass with a smack as he lifted you off of him.
Steve spun to the carpet, replacing Bucky’s cock with his own as he cradled you to his chest. You moaned while he filled your over sensitive pussy once again.
“For a few months now.” Steve left your chest pressed to his while he lifted his hips, his pelvis gracing your clit with every thrust. “You have nothing to worry about now Doll. You’re home.”

December 31
You hated your naivety, you hated what they had put you through. But what you hated most of all was the denial.
The denial that you liked it. You loved the way they knew what was best, the way they punished you, the way they rewarded you, the way your life had stability for this first time.
When the knock sounded on your door you said goodbye to the snowflakes at the window. Maybe you were more like them than you wanted to admit, they would melt someday and you had to accept that you already had.
You turned to see Bucky and Steve walk in wearing Tuxedos. They both frowned that you weren’t wearing the beautiful dress Steve brought you, but no doubt confused by the time you spent getting your makeup and hair ready. Rolling your shoulders back you accepted your fate.
“Will you please fuck me?”

note: my contribution to @impalawrites’s no happy endings collab! enjoy or don’t enjoy this painful fic!
“all you focus on is volleyball!” you remembered screaming at your husband. the two of you were at the japan volleyball association’s private gym, kageyama practicing his sets. a game against the msby black jackals was coming up.
“i do not,” kageyama quipped, his eyes focused on the yellow volleyball as he tossed it up in the air and set it. you huffed and crossed your arms under your swollen belly, “our daughter is gonna be born soon, tobio. you need to get your head in the game.”
“get my head in the game?” kageyama caught the ball and whipped his head around to face you, “get my head in the game? my head has always been in the game.”
“obviously, it has been the wrong game,” you scoffed, turning on your heel.
“where are you going?” kageyama grabbed you by the wrist.
“get off of me,” you spat, freeing yourself from his grasp. kageyama winced and frowned, as if he just witnessed you kicking a puppy. you scrunched your nose at the sight, “don’t give me that look.”
“i say,” he inhaled, “where are you going?”
“oh i guess you forgot,” you laughed bitterly.
“forgot what?” kageyama raised an eyebrow at you.
“i have my final appointment with my obstetrician before my due date.”
kageyama’s eyes widened.
“let me come– no, you’re too busy playing ball,” you cut your husband off. kageyama stared, you stared back. he exhaled, “please?”
“no. goodbye, tobio.”
you gathered your belongings and exited the gym. kageyama could only watch you leave, helpless. he let out a frustrated scream and spiked the volleyball, needing to get his anger out somehow.
you got into your car and sighed, resting your head on the steering wheel. you hated to fight with kageyama but he was being a neglectful ass. you needed him to be ready for this baby and so far? he was proving his inability to be a responsible father.
a kick to the stomach jolted you out of your thoughts.
“mommy’s sorry for stressing you out, little one,” you rubbed your stomach tenderly, “daddy is just being a pain. don’t worry, we can handle this.”
you turned on the engine of the car and drove out of the parking lot, making your way down the road and towards the highway. turning on some classical music, you hummed to yourself while you drove.
then everything froze.
ice on the highway made maneuvering a vehicle, the cargo truck in front of you spun out of control. it hit a few cars on side of it, a scream erupting from your mouth as you attempted to avoid collusion.
BAM!
you collided right into the truck at one hundred kilometers per hour. the air bags deployed, shattering your nose and face. your whole body jolted forward, the car compressing inward like an accordion. you were trapped and bleeding, your breathing frantic and your mind hazy.
“reiki.. reiki..” you croaked, “reiki, my baby.. please, god.. let her be okay.”
those were your final words before the world went dark.
. . . . .
kageyama was on his way to your doctor’s appointment when he got the call from the hospital. a pile up on the highway with you at the forefront, kageyama nearly puked at the thought. he rushed to the hospital, not caring that he was speeding. all kageyama could think about was your wellbeing and the baby’s.
“(y/n)!” kageyama bursted into the emergency room, just when the paramedics were unloading you from the ambulance. he ran to your side and sobbed at how broken you looked, strapped to the stretcher.
“sir, we need you to move,” one of the paramedic told kageyama. he did what he was told and watched as the paramedics unloaded you in a bed, doctors and nurses alike coming to your aid.
“we got a red! female, mid twenties, thirty six weeks pregnant! multiple fractures and possible internal bleeding!” the paramedics listed off your injuries to the medical personnel. kageyama covered his face and sobbed, tears staining his hands.
“we need to perform an emergency c-section, the baby is running out of time.”
kageyama looked up and his face went pale.
“c- can i say goodbye to her before she goes into surgery?!” kageyama shouted to the head doctor. she nodded and yelled back, “make it quick!” before kageyama ran to your side and grabbed your hand. he kissed your battered forehead and whispered, “i love you. you’re gonna make it.”
kageyama let go of your hand and stood there silently, as the nurses and doctors whisked you off to surgery. a nurse approached him and informed kageyama, “you’re kageyama-san, correct? husband of the patient?”
he nodded, “i- i am.”
kageyama and the nurse conversed about the current situation. she gave him hope for your recovery and the delivery of his child. kageyama then took the time to inform your family and both of your close friends (hinata, miya, and sakusa) about your current predicament.
the emergency room waiting room was crowded with family members and volleyball players alike, kageyama at the center of it all. hours went by and there was no update about your condition.
“kageyama-san?” the nurse from earlier came up to kageyama. everyone stared at her expectantly, kageyama asking softly, “do you have any updates on my wife? or the baby?”
“the doctor wants to speak to you.. alone.”
kageyama gulped but nonetheless followed the nurse to where the doctor was waiting. dressed in surgical scrubs, the doctor stood there with a remorseful look on her face.
“kageyama-san.”
no, don’t say it.
“i’m sorry.”
no, you dare say it.
“i’m sorry, your wife didn’t make it.”
kageyama’s knees wobbled and he dropped to the floor, stunned.
“and the baby?” his voice cracked, “is the baby gone?”
“do you want to meet her?”
hope filled kageyama’s chest.
“y- yes!” he leapt to his feet, “please, take me to her!”
the nurse and doctor led him to the natal intensive care unit, taking him into a patient room. his smile fell at the scene he was greeted with.
his little baby reiki, hooked up to machines. they pumped oxygen into her lungs and monitored her vital signs. she didn’t look human. that wasn’t his baby.
“she’s on life support,” the doctor explained the situation, “she’s.. she’s brain dead. kageyama-san, i’m so sorry.”
brain dead, reiki was brain dead.
“how long would you like her to be on life support?” the nurse asked.
“..just an hour,” he answered, “i want to spend some time with her before she- she goes.. please?”
the doctor and nurse nodded understandingly before exiting the room. kageyama stood over the hospital’s crib and held his baby’s tiny hand. god, she was so small. so small and battered, she didn’t deserve this.
“looks like.. looks like you’re gonna be joining mommy soon, huh?”
a beat from the machines responded to his self-talk.
tears fell down kageyama’s face, “i’m sorry, honey. i wasn’t there for you.”
no response.
“i love you, reiki.”
silence.
“i love you, (y/n).”
more tears slipped out from his eyes.
“goodbye.. for now.”

The Devil Looks After His Own (Ch.1)
Little Steve Harrington is so lonely he tries summoning a demon with a ritual advertised on TV--but luckily, it doesn't work, and a buff, non-human nanny hired by his mom shows up minutes later. Years later, they're best friends, and Steve still doesn't know the truth. For @magniloquent-raven!
When his dad finally locked him out of the office, Steve spent the morning sitting in the hallway playing with his Legos. When his stomach growled, he knocked quietly, and his dad’s voice on the phone continued, so he went in the kitchen to forage. He found Cheez-its, and olives, and a tightly wrapped triangle of gooey cheese that tasted good in the middle, but had gross, chalky skin, so he licked the middle out and stuffed the rest down the side of the garbage.
He walked back into the front room and flipped the TV on, just to make some noise. “In the future,” came the syrupy voice of the man on the screen, “—we’ll have robots to be our helper-friends!” He chuckled to himself, leaning back in his leather chair, and folding his arms on his huge wooden desk. “But that doesn’t work for us now, I hear you say.”
The camera zoomed out, and he waved to a woman with curly hair and long fangs, sitting on the edge of his desk. She was wearing way less clothes than the man was, and Steve frowned, wondering whether she was cold. “Our summoning spells are assembled by real lawyers, and airtight!” the man said, and the woman nodded, smiling, and holding up a picture with a lot of numbers and lines. Steve squinted at it guiltily—he’d seen the man’s ads before, and he mostly remembered the picture, probably.
The helper-friend lady looked nice, he thought.
“Too good to be true? We even include offerings! Bat eyes, tears of the innocent—” he said, smiling and holding up jars, as ‘ethically sourced from internment facilities’ scrolled across the screen.
Steve frowned around, and then grabbed his LEGO 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28, the most complex set he owned.
“Honey,” the man told the woman on screen, and she opened a can of soda, and poured it over her own head, still smiling. “Perfectly compliant,” he said. “And just wait, there’s more! Any purchase comes with a matching, complimentary summoning sigil for a protective home guardian! Just drip a drop of fluid—” he winked at the camera, and it showed something red splashing across the page, as his voice suddenly screamed “Augh-no! Don’t—”
Steve had already grabbed the remote and hit the fifteen-second replay, and began drawing out the picture. He hit it again and again, coloring in different colors, and wishing people in commercials didn’t always yell. He drew the circle carefully with a piece of thread from the long fringe on a throw-blanket he wasn’t allowed to mess up, then folded it carefully again, grimacing. He colored in the crosses with a different color so it looked nicer, and drew the little castle wall-looking-bit. He added a horse.
When it came time to drip fluid on it, he clicked the TV off, and got a juice box from the fridge, figuring apple juice was way less gross than blood, and it wouldn’t ruin his picture.
Steve stared at the picture, holding the juice box, and thinking. He imagined not eating alone. He imagined the nice lady smiling at his Legos—maybe she’d like the castle set, he thought, like in her picture. He’d just summon her for a little, he thought—just a few minutes, enough to make them both a PB&J.
His stomach growled—again—and he frowned at his dad’s office door, sighed, plonked the Camaro in the middle of the picture, and squeezed the juice box to spray over it all.
Nothing happened. Steve stared at the picture for a long moment, his eyes welling up with tears, and then kicked the couch. It felt like his foot broke from the impact, and he spun around in a circle, muttering a lot of words he wasn’t allowed to say in the house. He hopped into the kitchen, sniffling, and got out the peanut butter, jam, and a spoon—but instead of getting the bread, he sat on the floor in front of the sink.
He felt a sinking sensation of guilt as he stuck the spoon right into first the jam, and then the peanut butter, sticking the whole spoonful straight in his mouth and licking it off. Once he’d licked the spoon, he stuck it back in the jar, his heart pounding. The peanut butter was crunchy and salty, and the strawberry jam was stickily sweet. He wondered whether his mom would check the bread and know, and cried harder as he chewed, hugging his knees.
The floor in the front room creaked, and he startled so hard the spoon jabbed hard between his upper molars. He scrambled to his feet, fumbling the lids back on the jam and the peanut butter and shoving them under the sink, his heart thudding in his chest, but nobody came in.
The couch squeaked softly, and Steve edged to the doorway, the big spoon hanging forgotten from his mouth, to see a tall man with horns and no clothes at all lying across the couch, right up against the forbidden throw blanket. He raised his eyebrows—they had shiny jewelry in them—and breathed out smoke, indoors, as he looked up at Steve.
He then yelped and scrambled to fall with a thud over the back of the couch. “The fff—what are you doing here, kid,” came his voice, from behind the couch. “Where the—where on earth are your parents?!”
“Unhm,” said Steve, who hadn’t ever seen a man wear so much jewelry before, and wondered how much it hurt to have jewelry in your dick. He took the spoon out of his mouth. “Uh. Dad—dad is—in there,” he pointed vaguely toward his dad’s office, his eyes still fixed on the horns sticking up past the back of the couch. “Do...do you want me to...get him?”
The naked man popped up behind the couch again, looking kind of mad, and Steve stepped further back, watching the golden chains and jewels glint in the light from the window. “...you look very pretty,” Steve said politely, and the man groaned, grabbing the blanket as he stood, and wrapping it around his waist like a towel.
“Why the—why are you here,” he hissed, and Steve swallowed.
“I’ll go in my room,” he tried to say, but it came out kind of a weird whisper, and he realized he was starting to cry again, so he turned away, and the man scrambled from behind the couch.
“Wait! Kid,” he said, and Steve stopped to see him step and spin kind of gracefully around the glass coffee table without catching the blanket on it. All his nails were pointed, and painted black. “I’m sorry—” he cut off, staring down at Steve’s picture, and the LEGO 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28.
“...what’s this,” he asked, like maybe he was mad again, and Steve wondered, suddenly, whether his mom had forgotten to lock the door, and the man was a naked burglar, looking for clothes to steal.
“I wanted to meet the TV lady,” Steve admitted, trying to take it, but the man snatched it up. “Um, are you—are you a burglar?”
“Am I—” the man glared at him—his eyes looked like fire, weirdly, the blue fire on the stove—but he didn’t look mad at Steve, yet, so Steve just bit his lips together. “...you drew this?” the horny man asked, more quietly, and Steve nodded. “Why?” he asked, and Steve knew he was in trouble—even if the man wasn’t supposed to be there, grownups always told each other when Steve did something dumb, like steal the TV man’s picture, which was the point Steve realized he was a stealer, a thief, like on TV. America’s Most Wanted, he thought, his heart pounding.
“Why draw this?” the man asked softly, crouching down, and Steve sniffled again, wiping his eyes.
“He said a friend would come,” he admitted, wondering whether kids had their own jail, or whether he’d be in the one with all the guys from movies, who chased teenagers with chainsaws and knives.
“You wanted a friend?” the man asked, but even softer, and Steve nodded, clenching his fingers in the sides of his pants.
“I didn’t mean to steal it,” he whispered. “I won’t do it again.”
“...okay,” the man said. “Don’t—don’t cry, it’s okay, are—are you okay?” he held his hands up like he was gonna touch Steve’s shoulders, then crossed his arms, frowning.
“I’m okay,” Steve nodded, wiping his nose on his sleeve. “...are, um,” he asked, cautiously, “—are you supposed to be...in here?”
“Uhhh,” said the man. “Definitely not naked, right?” he laughed, kinda nervously, Steve thought, and he snapped his fingers. The throw blanket turned into shiny fringed pants.
“Ohhh,” Steve whispered, impressed. “How’d you do that?”
“Oh,” the man said, grimacing. “Um, let’s talk about you summoning demons, okay?”
“...okay,” Steve nodded, sighing, but then a thought occurred to him. “Uh, do you want a PB&J?”
As they ate, the man spread Steve’s picture on the table, with the LEGO 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28.
“So this is a circle to summon the demon Belial,” he said, low but kind of intense, like Steve was in trouble, but mostly he looked sort of worried.
Steve swallowed his bite of sandwich. “...it’s not exactly the same,” he pointed out, a little sulkily. “I added a horse.”
“...so you did,” said the man, turning it to look. “...look, summoning demons is very dangerous—”
“My dad says there aren’t bad demon summoners,” Steve told him. “He says there are bad plumbers, and bad strippers, but if you’re talking to somebody, and they summoned a demon, they must be good at it, because you’re talking to them, and—and he was on TV—”
“Strippers,” said the man weakly, and Steve realized he was being rude to his guest.
“I’m Steve,” he said. “What’s your name?”
“...Bel,” said the man, then, hurriedly, “Bill?”
“My mom likes Billy Idol. And Billy Joel,” Steve suggested, and the man nodded.
“That’s a normal name that I definitely have,” he nodded, grimacing, “—Billy, I’m Billy.”
Steve considered this.
“Are you listening, though? About demon-summoning? Even a lot of adults have a hard time with it—” Billy started again, holding Steve’s LEGO 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 to his chest like it was a present for him.
“The guy on TV said it was for a helper friend,” Steve told him, feeling a little guilty, but really not too much, since it hadn’t even worked.
“Steve,” Billy said, pressing his hands together over his mouth. The chain hooking his earring to the ring in his lip swayed and made a bell sound, and Steve stared at it, then remembered to nod. “Okay,” Billy said. “Could you promise me you won’t try to summon any more demons?”
“My dad says—” Steve started, again, but he cut off guiltily as Billy slumped back in his chair, groaning.
“Look,” Billy tried again, rubbing his face. “Summoning demons isn’t like inviting somebody over, okay? They have to come. Now imagine if someone called you up to—” he frowned down at himself, biting his lips with pointed teeth, and cleared his throat. “Uh,” he said, swallowing, and snapped his fingers with both hands—and all the jewelry vanished. Even his cool horns were gone, Steve realized, and he had clothes on, a little tiny black shirt that showed his belly button, and shiny plastic-y silver pants.
It was disappointing, but Steve looked into Billy’s flameless eyes and blunt-toothed smile and politely said “...you still look nice...I guess.” Billy snorted a laugh. “...I’ve never seen pants like that,” Steve offered, and Billy frowned down.
“What’s wrong with them?” he asked, then shook his head. “No, wait. Okay. What if you don’t want to go somewhere—”
“People make me go places all the time,” Steve said darkly, remembering the week before, when his mom had drug him in for a haircut that made him look like G.I. Joe. He rubbed his still-fuzzy head, glowering.
“Uh,” Billy said, trying not to smile, but spinning the tires on the LEGO 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28, and Steve was a little proud that he liked it so much. “Okay, a stranger. What if a stranger makes you go somewhere you don’t want to go?”
“That’s kidnapping,” Steve said, breathlessly, his eyes huge, and Billy pointed the LEGO 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 at him.
“Yes. When you summon a demon, you’re kidnapping them, okay? And they can’t leave unless you let them go.”
“But the man on the TV said—” Steve whispered, then stopped, remembering how he’d made the almost-naked woman pour soda on her own head. Steve covered his mouth, suddenly realizing she might not have wanted to be almost-naked, maybe the man had taken her clothes off, like Steve with a doll. “Oh no,” he whispered. “I’m so glad it didn’t work!”
“Ah, yeeeah,” Billy said, grimacing.
“Um,” said Steve, reaching a hand over to retrieve his prize LEGO kit, and Billy snatched it back. Steve narrowed his eyes. “You were looking for my parents, but my dad didn’t say you were coming over, are you my mom’s friend?”
Billy winced, grimacing. “Where is she?”
“She’s at work,” Steve told him. “Daycare is too expensive, so over the summer I have to be good.”
“Wait, are there any grownups here?!” Billy asked, looking horrified, and Steve nodded, pointing down the hall again.
“My dad. He locks the door.”
“...What if you drown in the bathtub, or try to eat your own fingers, or something,” Billy breathed, and Steve glared at him.
“I’m not little,” he hissed, sliding forward in his chair a little, so his toes reached the floor. “I’m not a baby.”
“You don’t need a friend, you need a nanny,” said the recently smoking, horned, pierced and tattooed man before him. “And that’s, uh, that’s why your mom sent me.”
“...did she really send you?” Steve asked, narrowing his eyes, and Billy crossed his arms on the table, hugging Steve’s LEGO 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 against his chest.
“Yeah. Yeah, she did,” he said defiantly, and Steve relaxed a little, because Billy sounded like a teenager, just a bigger kid, really. “She said to put less peanut butter and jelly in your sandwiches,” he pointed to Steve’s overflowing PB&J-bread-burrito, looking smug, “—and just make another sandwich.”
Steve gasped, staring at him, and feeling absolutely betrayed. “You tricked me! Why’d you let me make it!”
“It’s okay, I won’t tell,” Billy said, and Steve’s heart was won.
Billy won it further when he scooted his plate aside to admire the LEGO 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28, and Steve drug him back to his room to show him the kits he had. “Come on,” he said, excited and rude, and Billy slowed way down, grimacing, and flickering back to his pretty bejeweled self, with horns.
“How about you ask if I wanna do things,” he said stiffly, slowing almost to a stop, and smoking more around the eyes.
“Oh, yeah,” Steve nodded. “Sorry. Can I show you my room?”
“Or maybe, ‘Hey, Billy, want to see my room,’” Billy suggested, taking a deep breath.
“Okay,” Steve nodded. “Want to see my room?”
“Sure,” Billy nodded, relaxing like it was some big relief.
It occurred to Steve maybe it was. “Sorry,” he said quickly. “I’ll be polite, I won’t get you fired.”
“Um, yeah,” Billy laughed, shaking his head. “Maybe don’t, uh, order me around.”
“Yeah,” Steve nodded, thinking hard about it, so he’d remember. “I won’t say ‘Billy, pick me upOOF—” he wheezed, as Billy yanked him into the air with one arm around his waist. “Sorry,” Steve wheezed, his feet kicking. “I-I’ll say Billy would you, sorry—”
“Shit! Damn it, I mean, uh, sorry,” Billy said, grimacing, and sat Steve back on his feet, straightening his clothes.
“I’ll remember,” Steve told him, wide-eyed, and then, because Billy looked guilty, “It’s okay.”
He tried hard to remember, and he usually did, because Billy got all tense and weird if Steve forgot, like he was trying to move underwater, and Steve had to yell “If you want! If you want!” as Billy grimly bit into the crunchy, burned eggs Steve had made.
“That was disgusting,” Billy told him, that time, and Steve couldn’t stop laughing, waving his hands.
“Okay, okay, can I—can I just tell you you can ignore me? I won’t tell, you can just—just do things if you want to—”
“...you sure about that?” Billy asked, snorting softly, like Steve might be kidding, and Steve nodded frantically.
“Yeah! Yes! Don’t, um, don’t eat any more eggshells, I’m sorry!”
“...okay,” Billy said, smiling down at him. “When am I not supposed to listen?”
“Uh,” said Steve, blinking at him. “I mean. You should—you should always listen—”
“Yeah, that’s what I thought,” Billy said, rolling his eyes.
“No, you should!” Steve told him, grabbing Billy’s hand and tugging it. “What if something’s gonna hit you in the head? You should listen,” he nodded, thinking about it. “But once you listen, you should decide what you want to do.”
“What if I wanted to...eat you?” Billy asked him, reaching down to tickle Steve’s stomach, and Steve yelped, giggling.
“You won’t eat me,” Steve told him, leaning into Billy, to give him a hug. “You’re nice.”
Billy sighed, and hugged him back, tightly.
Billy was better at some things than other people, like clothes, Steve thought, because Billy was always pointing people’s outfits out, and explaining how they weren’t as good at picking them. He wasn’t as good at other things, though. Steve sat down one night to heated-up pasta sauce over Cheerios, and he didn’t want to say anything, but he was pretty sure that wasn’t right. Billy gave Steve’s mom a glass of water that was completely frozen because she said she wanted it iced, and when Steve’s dad told Billy to make burgers, Billy didn’t buy buns, or tomatoes, or anything, and he threw the meat in the pan until it caught fire.
Steve was pretty sure none of it was a joke, because Billy frowned between the glass and Steve’s mom, and grimaced over the burgers after Steve’s dad stomped away, and Steve caught him whispering into the phone to the neighbor, hiding half in the fridge like nobody was gonna notice it was open.
“Billy,” he whispered, and Billy jumped, as Steve crouched down next to him. The breeze from the inside of the fridge was nice, but it hardened all Steve’s suspicions, because no grown-up had ever left the fridge open, he was pretty sure.
“Yeah,” Billy muttered back, guiltily.
“...how old’re you,” Steve asked, and Billy flinched.
“Older than you,” he shot back, and that Steve was willing to give him, because Billy wasn’t human, and some things lived different amounts of time, like trees.
“Are you a kid too?” Steve asked, and Billy glared at him.
“No,” he said defiantly, and Steve nodded slowly, raising his eyebrows, until Billy groaned, deflating, sitting against the edge of the fridge and letting his legs sprawl out across the floor. “Look, I’m trying—”
“I won’t tell,” Steve said, reaching out and squeezing Billy’s hand. “I don’t want you to get in trouble.”
“...teenager...maybe,” Billy admitted, grimacing.
“Okay,” Steve said, nodding. “Billy,” he said, trying to sound like a parent, or a teacher, and Billy’s shoulders hunched. “You need to tell me you need help,” Steve said, putting his hands on his hips. “I can help with things like human food.”
“You are human food,” Billy said, fondly, yanking Steve into a hug.
Most of the people that did magic like Billy ate kids occasionally, Steve found out, as he was reading his Dictionary of the Magic Realms that night under the covers, by flashlight. Maybe they were mean kids, Steve thought, or maybe Billy was just way nicer. “Are you a fairy?” he asked the next morning, and Billy laughed.
“Depends on what you mean,” he said, grinning over. “Is that slang for—”
“Can you fly,” Steve interrupted, because that seemed the most important, and Billy cocked his head.
“...actually, I probably could,” he said, considering. “Not like you mean, though. I don’t have secret butterfly wings, or anything.”
“Oh,” Steve said, because he'd been privately imagining Billy as they’d first met, with the jewelry and the horns and wings, and it seemed to fit.
“...do you want me to have wings?” Billy asked, sitting aside the dish he was drying, and bending down sideways to try and meet Steve’s eyes. “I can change form—”
“No!” Steve told him, waving his hands. “No, I know you like looking like...that.”
“...that,” Billy said, raising his eyebrows as he looked down at himself. “You saying I need to do better?”
“You’re just—normal,” Steve said quickly. “Instead of pretty.”
“Instead of,” Billy growled.
“I mean,” Steve yelped, waving his hands. “Pretty with all the jewelry! And the horns.”
“I was gonna say,” Billy said, reddening. “If you’re saying I’m not pretty—”
“Of course you’re pretty,” Steve said, rolling his eyes and sighing, but grinning, too. He patted Billy’s shoulder.
“Well,” Billy said, clearing his throat, and turning back to the dishes. “All right, then.”
A few days later, Billy was moving the kettle off the flame for hot chocolate, and a big gout of steam belched up over his arm, which shimmered into all over scales. Steve yelped and grabbed him, yanking him over to the sink, and ran water over it, all the while panicking.
“Billy, are you a mermaid?!” he asked, spraying Billy’s arm, and trying not to cry. “Are you a mermaid, are you okay, are hot things bad for mermaids—”
“I’m okay,” Billy told him, turning off the water, and hugging him close. “I’m not a mermaid, Stevie, I’m not hurt.”
“O-okay,” Steve gasped, grabbing Billy’s arm to run his fingers over it. “You—you’re okay,” he whispered, leaning into Billy’s hugs. “...are you a...lizard? Or a snake?”
“Nope, not exactly,” Billy said, snorting a laugh, and Steve groaned.

Possessed Legend Go Brr
You know I was gonna just post a snippet bc I stopped writing this like five months ago bUT HERE HAVE A MESSY, UNEDITED BUT COMPLETE THING I GUESS?? Any grammatical errors will probably be looked over tomorrow dfnsav
So. The Lost Woods were still creepy as hell. Good to know. A dense fog still covered the area, and crows still screamed their call-and-respond at random seemingly just to startle anyone not expecting it. The same old eerie lantern-light darted between the trees, the same poes laughed at the group as they got up and dusted themselves off.
Some things would never change, Legend supposed, no matter how often you came back.
"Looks like the Lost Woods," Time observed. "Do we know whose era we're in?"
"Mine," Legend said with a glance at the pedestal in the middle of the clearing, "The Sword looks just like I left it."
Sky sighed sadly. "This place is so... different," he said, then turned to Legend and asked, "Are you going to take it?"
Legend shook his head. "Better to leave it here for now, I think." In truth, he didn't want to hold the blade ever again. Too many memories involved his hand clenched tight around the azure hilt of the Master Sword until his knuckles turned white. Without another word on the matter, he started walking. "We should probably get going before that scaly bastard can put anymore distance between himself and us. Follow me and stick close--Hyrule, no wandering off."
And so began the journey through the woos. As the group of heroes left the Sword behind them, however, it became increasingly apparent that something was wrong with the Lost Woods. The further they went from the clearing, the more obvious the signs were. The plants were wilting and turning a sickly purple grey color, the crows got to be fewer and fewer. Wild was caught trying to grab mushrooms that even Legend hadn't seen before three times. Even the poes seemed to notice that something was amiss and were avoiding the rest of the forest as much as they could.
Hyrule was the first to say anything. "Something's not right. There's magic here, but it's... wrong. Like Dark Link's," he announced, reaching up to touch a grayed leaf and recoiling with a yelp when it crumbled to dust in his hand. It almost looked like it had burned the Traveler.
"Then all we can do is stay on our toes and trust Legend to get us out of here," Twilight replied, and Legend noted the way that his pelt almost looked like the fur on the back of an animal's neck, bristling and on high alert. He nodded.
"New rule--don't touch anything. Wild, for Din's sake, put the mushrooms down!"
Wild gave him a kicked puppy look over his armload of slimy, red-capped fungi. "They look like they might be good for cooking!" he protested.
Legend pinched the bridge of his nose. "They also might be poisonous, you--" the Veteran stopped mid-sentence, and not of his own volition. He felt his arms drop to his sides, his face go slack. What the hell...? What in the actual goddess-damned fuck?! He wanted to shout, to rip whatever was doing this to him a new asshole, but he couldn't.
This was... something else. Something other.
"...Legend? You okay?" Wild asked. "It's fine dude, I'll put them down." Gingerly, he set the mushrooms on the ground, then put his hands up when Legend--or rather, the thing that was controlling Legend--didn't look away or change its expression or do anything. Get the fuck out of me! I swear to Hylia, I'll kick your ass! Legend swore at whatever it was, trying to force even just a little twitch of his finger.
Four looked at him warily. "Is he... do you guys think he can even hear us? Legend?" he asked, tentatively walking over to him. Yes! Yes, I can, and I have no goddess-damned clue what the hell's going on! Hyrule's arm shot out to stop Four. His eyes were wide, never leaving Legend.
"Don't," he said, voice cracking a little. "Something... something's really wrong."
Whatever had taken Legend's body finally decided to speak. Its voice was raspy and quiet and most certainly not his own. It sounded almost like fallen leaves scraping against the bare earth in the fall. "Trespassers... leave..."
Then Legend felt himself be thrown forward in a leap towards Hyrule, sword out and ready to attack. Move! He screamed, but again, his mouth didn't so much as twitch. Four grabbed the other hero and pulled him down just barely in time to avoid getting sliced in half, but the sound of steel cutting through flesh was as clear as Hyrule's scream as the blade struck him. The Traveler had a massive gash in his side. legend's arm moved up to deal a death blow, and he was begging now, Please, don't do this! Don't kill him, don't kill any of them, they're all I have--
Clang!
Legend would have cheered at the sound of his sword striking Wild's shield if he could. Wild pushed outwards with a shout, sending Legend stumbling back. Warriors and Time were on him before whatever had him could even think about getting up, though the thing was apparently much stronger than he was and was struggling violently in an attempt to throw both of them off. "What the hell are you doing?!" Warriors bellowed. The fury in his eyes almost physically burned, and Legend didn't really blame him. He'd probably react much the same.
"He's not himself," Time said. His voice was strained, and Legend could see that behind his neutral expression was a barrage of emotions. He couldn't imagine any of them were particularly pleasant. "Someone grab his sword!"
Twilight was just barely able to pry the weapon from his grip, which seemed to just further aggravate the thing inside him. Time and Warriors both ended up being thrown off. "Damn, that was... has he always been this strong?" Warriors muttered, getting up swiftly and moving to aid Sky in trying to grab Legend again.
It's probably whatever's causing him to act like this," Sky guessed. He blocked a punch aimed directly at his head and Legend silent-howled in pain as his fist connected with solid metal, but his body landed a blow to the Skyloftian's gut and a kick to Twilight's left knee.
He was sent downwards when Wind charged him and grabbed ahold of the back of his legs, then swore internally as his newly-retrieved sword tore through the Sailor's calf. "Fuck! I don't want to hurt him, but this asshole's sure not taking it easy on us!" the kid exclaimed.
Twilight was back on his feet quickly, though Legend noticed that he was favoring his injured knee just a little. He hoped to whoever would listen that this thing didn't see it too. Sky was a little slower to recover, but he got back up before Legend shook Wind off of him.
"Hey!"
Legend's head snapped in the direction of the shout to see Warriors. The Captain looked jarringly unsure and a little surprised, as if he hadn't meant to yell. He shook his head and the surprise disappeared, though he was clearly still uncertain. Legend was barreling into him before he could start speaking, and he hardly had time to get his shield up. "Snap our of it, Legend! This isn't--I know you're still in there!"
The thing controlling Legend kicked at Warriors' ankles, sending him toppling down. Warriors went at Legend's own ankles, hard. Fucking ow, asshole. Legend didn't even have time to think before he was on his stomach, Warriors holding his left wrist firmly against the ground and rendering the sword he held useless. The Captain's knee was in his back, and his full weight was holding Legend down. The whatever-it-was struggled, thrashing to get free, but the others were quick to secure his other limbs.
There was a beat of silence, save for ragged breathing and the sounds of a frantic attempt to get free, before Warriors spoke. His weight shifted a bit. "Sorry, Legend. We'll figure this out, I promise."
Then there was a pain in the back of Legend's neck, and he was released into unfeeling darkness.
~~~
When Legend awoke, the first thing he noticed was the rope tying his hands together. The second was the very familiar bed, and the third...
"Oh, Mister Hero! You're awake!"
Legend groaned and gave Ravio the evil eye when he helped him sit up, but was relieved to find that he could move his body on his own now. "What the hell am I doing here, and where are the others."
Ravio gasped, placing a hand on his chest. "Oh, you wound me! And here I was, worried you wouldn't wake up yourself!"
"Ravio..."
"Fine, fine--but you did give me quite the scare, you know! Being carried in, unconscious and apparently possessed and all--"
"Ravio!"
The merchant put his hands on his hips. "Hold your horses, Mister Hero, I'm gettin' to it! Your family--" Ah. Yeah. He had called them that, hadn't he? "--didn't have time to say much at first. Mister Cape pulled out his sword--somehow, he had the actual Master Sword, what's up with that?!--and did this thing with it Something about purifying a corrupted forest spirit and getting it out of you? I dunno, that kinda went over my head if I'm being honest,... Anyways, the sword burned up his hands pretty bad, so I pointed him and a bunch of the others towards Kakariko so they could find a healer or something. Mister Scarf, Mister Armor, and Freckles headed to the castle to try and get an audience with Zelda for help, in case the whole sword thing didn't work."
Legend frowned, taking a moment to digest all that. So Sky had tried to use the Master Sword to exorcise him? And apparently it had worked? But he'd hurt himself. Now Fable might get involved, and not only would he get the ass-chewing of the century, but she'd be wasting her time she could be spending not worrying about a brother that was okay, really. Legend sighed. "I guess we're gonna have to wait until they get back, then," he said. "Think you can untie me? I'm guessing these were put here in case I woke up and was... not myself." Come to think of it, how had he stayed out that long? Had Hyrule used sleeping potions? That had to be it, there was no ay he would have been out for the entire trek from the Lost Woods to his house otherwise.
A mischievous light glinted in Ravio's eyes. "Hm... I'm not sure, how do I know you're not just that evil, corrupted spirit impersonating Link? Think you can prove you're not?"
"Fucker-- you know damn well I'm not!"
"Mmm, I dunno~"
Legend seethed. "Fine, when you started your 'rental shop' or whatever, the thing that pissed me off the most was that you moved my goddess-damned bed. That good?"
Ravio clapped his hands together, and Sheerow chirped from somewhere across the room. "It really is you, Mister Hero!" he exclaimed cheerfully, going to work at the knot holding Legend's hands together.
He would still be working at it when Time, Warriors, and Hyrule returned with Fable to the sound of Legend screaming at him to just cut the damn thing.
Okay you know how coho!rafes gf is always super sassy and animated? So like what if one day she’s acting super off and down and rafe is like??? Bc she’s never been that way and she breaks down in front of him for the first time 🥺🥺🥺
wow this was lowkey cathartic.
sorry i am BAD at emotion but this is usually how it goes for me: bottle shit up and then explode at someone you love - not! healthy!!!!
anyways, enjoy!
--
rafe was playing video games shirtless on the couch when you came home, announcing your late arrival via a slammed door.
“hi babe.” he offered, eyes glued to the screen, where he was shooting...something. “no, not you topper. shut up.”
“hi.” you grunted, throwing your work bag on the table, kicking your heels off in the foyer.
it had been a BITCH of a day - you had gone into your internship, expecting to finish up a project you had been editing all week, only to find it completely wiped from your hard drive. your morning was dedicated to trying to relocate your missing project - multiple phone calls to IT, a panicked text exchange with your mom, a desperate plea to your co-worker, who just shrugged and said, “you should have backed it up on your external.”
your lunch was spent getting screamed at by your boss, insisting that you piece something together before going home (also berating you for not backing the project up to your external hard drive.)
your afternoon (and evening) was spent recreating a shitty, dumbed down version of your project - you stared at the monitor with tears in your eyes, hand shaking as you attempted to put a two-week project together in 8 hours.
by the time you commuted home (a solid 40 minutes), you were completely and totally defeated - all you wanted was a hot shower and sleep.
you dragged your ass up the stairs, rafe’s voice yelling into his headset fading into the background as you made it into his room, immediately heading for the shower.
you were so exhausted, you sat on the floor of the shower, letting the scalding hot water rain down over your shoulders, as you tried to muster up the energy to wash your hair.
by the time you emerged from the shower, skin red and pruned, it was near midnight. too exhausted to hunt down pajamas, you let your body collapse onto the bed, wrapped in nothing but a towel.
you felt pathetic.
you weren’t used to the feeling - normally, you liked challenges, thrived in adversity - but this job was different. despite it initially being your “dream job” with a “dream company, you were completely out of your comfort zone.
you were thrown into an arena where you didn’t know as much as your coworkers, and despite your effort, you still managed to fuck up the little things (or, in this case - a big thing). you had never NOT been good at something - and it sucked.
you noticed you were crying the same time you noticed the bedroom door opening, rafe’s voice breaking your internal monologue - “babe?”
“what?” you snapped, quickly wiping any evidence of emotion off your face.
rafe frowned, stepping into the room, “i just wanted to see what you were doing - you didn’t come down after you showered.”
you scoffed, “okay, next time i want to take a long shower and lay down, i’ll confirm with you. sorry.”
“woah!” rafe held his hands up in surrender. “babe, it wasn’t an accusation - i just wanted to see if you were okay -”
“i’m fine, rafe.” you cut him off, looking down at your nails.
“you don’t seem -”
“what, rafe!” you yelled. “what the fuck do you want from me? i’m tired, i worked all day, leave me alone.”
“i want you to talk to me!” rafe growled. “you don’t fucking talk to me - ever since you started this job. you come home upset, and you shut me out!”
“fine! you wanna talk? let’s fucking talk.” you swung your feet off the bed, sitting upright. “i fucking hate my internship. i fucking commute 40 minutes one way, at the ass crack of dawn, only to get ignored by my coworkers, and screamed at by my boss. i have no idea what the fuck i’m doing, i’ve cried in the bathroom stall FOUR times this week, and now, i fucked up a massive project that i was really -” your voice was starting to crack at this point, hot tears sliding down your cheeks. “REALLY fucking proud of.”
you were really starting to cry at this point, completely overwhelmed from your day. “i just don’t know what the fuck to do. i thought this was what i wanted, but i don’t. i don’t fucking want to do this anymore. i don’t want to feel like this anymore.” you whispered, burying your face in your hands.
you felt the mattress next to you dip. next thing you knew, you were in rafe’s lap, cradled in his arms as you sobbed, all of the emotions from the first two months of your job releasing in that moment.
“i’m sorry.” he murmured, running his hand up and down your back. “i didn’t realize you felt like this - i’m sorry you felt like this.”
“s’not your fault.” you hiccuped, catching your breath. “i didn’t really want you to know it wasn’t going well - i thought it would get better.”
“you know you can always come and vent about this shit with me, right?” rafe asked, thumbing fresh tears from your cheeks. “i know you like to be on top of everything and in control, but you don’t have to pretend with me. i’m not going to judge you.”
you shrugged - it wasn’t easy for you to get vulnerable. “i just -”
“no. baby, look at me.” rafe’s voice was stern.
you looked up, meeting his stare.
“you don’t have to be perfect at everything you do. you don’t have to get shit right the first time, every time. so this job sucks - fuck it, that’s why you take internships in college. now you know what you don’t like. finish out strong - like i know you will, because you attack everything in life with an insane amount of determination, and we can figure out other options for you in the spring.”
your bottom lip quivered, fresh tears filling your eyes.
“shit, baby - was that not - i didn’t mean -” rafe fumbled over his words, hands going to cup your face.
“no! no, that was -” you hiccuped, tears spilling. “fuck. that was exactly what i needed to hear.”
rafe exhaled, the momentary panic leaving his body. “you’re so fucking talented - and you’re so fucking hard on yourself. just...just come talk to me, next time. we’re in this shit together, baby. i want to help.”
you sucked in a shaky breath, leaning up to hook your arms around your boyfriend’s neck, “love you. mean it.”
“love you too.”
Not Alone
Part 1 of 2 of Whatever the Outcome Series
Rating: Teen and up
Pairing: Lip Gallagher x fem!reader
Word Count: 1,555
Summary: Lip needs your help to convince Amanda to speak to the board regarding the picture she leaked of Helene, and you’re coming for blood
Warning: lots of swearing, blood, broken nose, slut shaming (kinda)
A/N: Okay so clearly I’m watching Shameless and writing Fics as I go. I know I got problems. That’s on meeee. I’ve never written for Lip so don’t @ me if it’s ooc. Set in 6x06. Part 2
A series of knocks on your dorm room door made you sit up blearily. The mid afternoon sun streamed into your room and you looked over at your roommates bed. It was empty. The incessant knocking turned into frantic pounding as the door remained unanswered. Yawning and stretching you stumbled out of bed, ready to cuss out whoever decided it was a good idea to wake you up.
“Alright shit what do you want?!” You hissed throwing the door open. Lip Gallagher stood there, he ran a hand over his mouth and jaw and let out a heavy breath.
“Y/N fuck can you come with me to talk to Amanda about Helene? Amanda’s always liked you. Maybe she’ll listen if you come.” He rushed out looking behind his shoulder to her dorm room.
You blinked at him and sighed deeply. This was about the pictures of Professor Runyon, of fucking course it was.
“She’s scared of me idiot. Alright fine. Let me put some pants on.” You sighed out and turned away from him. Tugging a random pair from your floor, you shoved them on and turned back to Lip. Usually he’d make some comment about your constant state of half nakedness, but not today. He was standing in your doorway, eyes staring at the floor. His thumb traced his lips. You couldn’t help but notice how bright his blue eyes looked. They always got this way when he was stressed. Something you always thought was both incredibly endearing as well as so fucking sad.
Usually eyes get brighter when their owner is happy and carefree. Not with Lip. The poor boy only knows the feeling of stress so his anatomy worked around it.
You smiled softly and put a hand on his shoulder, scaring him out of his panicked silence.
“It’s gonna be alright. We’ll fix this. It’s gonna be alright Lip.” You murmured rubbing, what you hoped, was soothing circles into his tense shoulder. He let out a deep breath and allowed himself five seconds to calm down before his eyes snapped open and he pulled away from you abruptly.
“Alright let’s go.” His voice was still rushed, but not nearly as fast. He jogged over to Amanda’s dorm room, looked over at you for confirmation, and began banging on her door as loudly as he had yours.
You let out a little laugh and slammed your open palm on the door next to his, yelling at Amanda to open the fuck up.
“Open up Amanda.” He called and you kept your knocking up to keep the noise loud and clear for this horrible person. “Look just tell the board you made a mistake.” Lip called again.
You kicked the door and yelled your own plea to get her to open up, “Say you’re a jealous cunt and you didn’t mean to get her in trouble.” Lip looked at you with an eyebrow raised. You only shrugged and kicked away at her door again before it swung open.
Amanda stood in all her stuck up glory, holding two bags and looking down on the both of you. You wanted to deck her on sight. You never liked her and when you found out she was the one to send out the picture because her itty bitty heart had been broken, you were halfway across campus to break her arm before Lip caught you and carried your swearing form back to your room. You kept your anger in check this time. This was all Lip’s fight and causing this bitch any pain would only result in more harm done.
You leaned on the door frame as Lip took up most of the space in the doorway to plead with Amanda.
“What board?” Amanda snapped looking between the two of you. “Y/N why the fuck are you here?” She huffed.
“Like the committee, the provost.” Lip cut in before you could make a wise ass comment and make Amanda even less likely to help you two out.
“No idea what you’re talking about.” She said and had the audacity to seem irritated with this conversation. You forced down a snarl.
“What do you mean? They didn’t ask you to come in?” You hissed instead. There was no way she was getting out of the mess she created without having any repercussions.
“Nope. Excuse me.” She said dismissing you and attempted to push past you two, but you stepped forward and crowded her, she took a step back and turned to Lip with a sigh.
“Okay, wait, then, then make a statement or post a retraction somewhere.” Lip stuttered looking frantically between the both of you.
“Where?” She demanded.
“Online!” Lip exclaimed, sounding as panicked as he looked. You pursed your lips and crossed your arms. If she kept this “holier than thou” attitude up you were going to make her bleed.
“Do you actually not understand how the Internet works?” Amanda spat. You took a step forward, read to level her only to have Lip pull you back by the waist.
“I don’t care how it works, okay! Helene could lose her job!” Lip shouted before his voice faltered at the end. He squeezed your stomach as a grounding point and you stayed still. Letting him have an anchor in his panic. Amanda jumped in at the sign of weakness.
“Well, maybe she should have thought about that before she started banging her students! And maybe you should learn how to treat the girls that you sleep with better. Ever heard of the campsite rule?” You wanted to punch her right in her snotty nose. You completely agreed with her, but making the dig about how Lip treated people was too far. Amanda knew damn well all she was was a fuck buddy and she created this fantasy of a boyfriend in her mind. It wasn’t Lip’s fault, it was hers.
“The what?” You spoke up, an eyebrow raised as you challenged her. Lip sighed sounding dejected.
“Leave the area in better shape than you found it, asshole. Move.” She spat and knocked her shoulder aggressively into Lip.
“Wait wait wait.” He cried letting go of you to block her path.
“Give me a break.” She whined doing all but stomping her foot down.
“Where are you going?” You said interrupting her tantrum. She huffed and looked down at her bags.
“The Feminazis are after me. Accused me of trying to destroy a high-status female because I’ve internalized my own gender oppression. Two thousand comments on my Facebook page, including death threats. My parents want me to leave campus until it blows over. You’re on your own, Lip.” She turned the lights off in her room before facing Lip again.
She smiled sickly and hissed out. “But then again I guess you always were.”
You sucked in a deep breath, shoved Lip out of the way, and slammed your forehead into Amanda’s nose. Her glasses fell off as she doubled over, gripping her nose in shock and pain. A scream came out of her mouth as she stumbled back into her dorm. You made a move to lunge at her before Lip’s arms grabbed you by the midsection again and hauled you back.
“Y/N that’s enough!” He yelled as you tried to kick out from his hold. Wanting nothing more than to get your hands on the now fake blonde cunt who ruined two peoples lives with her bullsht jealousy. You didn’t like Helene either, fuck you might’ve even hated her. But Lip was falling for her and she made him incredibly happy. So you kept your mouth fucking shut.
“You send out a statement to the board right now you bitch!” You snarled watching as she cried hysterically, her tears mixing in with the blood gushing from her nose. It was now crooked and you stared at her broken nose for as long as possible. Wanting this to be what you remembered when you thought of the fucking skank. The damage she deserved from your own hands.
Lip yanked you as he walked backwards. “Amanda shit, I gotta go!” He yelled as you kicked and flailed, your feet off the ground as Lip hauled you away from his former fuck buddy. He kicked open your door and dumped you on your bed. You scrambled off it and made for the door before Lip was on you again. He forced you back on the bed and straddled you to keep you down.
“Hey hey hey that’s enough! You broke her fucking nose I think you did enough!” Lip sighed and rested his head by your elbow. “We’re fucked. It’s over.”
He sounded so broken as he rolled off you and lay face first in your pillow. All the anger in your body melted out as you took in the sad dejected boy curled up next to you. You ran your hand through his hair and sighed.
“Lip I’m so sorry.” He didn’t say anything just laid there letting you comfort him.
You didn’t know how this would end. Didn’t know if Lip would get expelled or Professor Runyon would lose her job. But you knew whatever the outcome, you were going to be there in Lips corner. Because what Amanda said was dead wrong. Lip wasn’t alone. And he never had been.
Babysitting in the Devildom- Meet the Tykes
The screaming stopped as soon as you stepped in the room. Familiar, yet chubbier, less intimidating, and smaller faces filled the room.
"Who are you?" A voice came from the kitchen entrance. A young boy, about 10 or 11 stood there with green hair swooping down his forehead just before his eyes. You realized with a start that the kid was Barbatos. Behind him, you could see Simeon, who must have been about 8, holding a bundle of wriggling cloth. The other demons had stopped fighting and were watching you, Solomon, and Barbatos. After getting over your intial shock, you walk over towards the kitchen to relieve poor Simeon from holding Luke. As you took him, you turned to face the rest of the demons.
"My name is MC. I'm....I'm your babysitter. That over there is Solomon. He's going to be a helper." Solomon nodded and joined you in front of the little ones.
There was a moment of silence, and then Diavolo stepped forward.
"It's very nice to meet you MC, Solomon. I'm Prince Diavolo of the Devildom. Did my father organise this? He said that I should make some friends, but I didn't think....i didn't think I needed supervision."
"Yup! He sure did, but he's going to be on business duties for a while. I'm here mostly to keep you guys from hurting yourselves and each other. As well as make sure you eat."
Diavolo stared at you for a moment.
"Well, thank you. I guess we should get to know each other know, right?" He whirled on his heel to face the brothers
"Wait! Why am I here? Why is he here? What's going on?!" Simeon started to panic. "You're all demons, I'm an angel. Did I do something wrong? What did I do wrong? I swear I'll repent! I'll never do it again!! MC why am I here?? Do you know why?? Did I do something...sinful?" His voice dropped to a whisper, his pleading, tearing eyes looking up at you. You handed Luke over to Soloman, and got down to look Simeon in the eyes. You gently cupped his face, he grabbed your hand and leaned into it, letting himself cry freely. You could hear the other boys start to stir.
"I guess not all angels belong in heaven, huh?"
Simeon crumpled to the floor, sobbing. You shot a warning look towards the boys, not entirely sure which one had said it. "Why don't you guys go play a game?" You wanted them to leave you and Simeon alone long enough for you to comfort him properly.
"Why should we listen to you? You don't even know our names." Lucifer came forward, arms crossed, chest puffed, and a slight pout. "I'm the oldest of my brothers, so I do what I want to do. And they listen only to me and what I say."
"Well, what do you want to do?" You ask.
"I want to play a game."
"Good idea. You, Diavolo, and Barbatos are in charge."
The demons left.
"...didn't you sugget they play a gane in the first place?" Solomon asked.
You ignored him for the moment and wrapped Simeon up in your arms and held him close.
"Simeon... you dont have to look at me, but please listen when I say this. You have done nothing wrong. Dont think about what they said. Diavolos father and God had a chat about trying to make friends across realms. They thought that younger kids would be more able to get along. But they needed someone who was strong, brave, kind, creative, funny, friendly, and who would always try their best and never give up." Simeon tilted his head up to look at you. Wiping tears wih the palms of his hands and sniffling, he said, "so...I was chosen because they...they think I'm all those things? Do you think I'm all those things?" You hugged him closer to your chest. "Nope. I know you're everything they said and more." You would have stayed that way a while longer, but Mammon came bursting in.
"THERE'S ANOTHER BABY AND IT'S TRYING TO KILL LUCIFER, IT CAME OUT OF BELPHIES BLANKET PLEASE COME HELP HIM! IT'S SO FAST, IT WENT NYOOM! LIKE THIS, AND THEN BAM, LIKE THAT, AND NOW IT'S LIKE NOM WAH NOM WAH AND LUCIFER DOESN'T WANT TO HURT IT BUT IT WON'T STOP PULLING HIS HAIR AND POKING HIS EYES, PLEASE COME HELP!"
You were on your feet before he had finished reenacting his scene, and holding Simeon's hand, you rushed to see what was going on.
Oh... oh
Lucifer was battling a small, screaming green ball of fury, looking very disheveled and confused. He was in his demon form, so his younger brothers had taken refuge behind Barbatos, except for the twins, who were on the opposite side of the room. Beel was chewing on Belphie's blanket, Belphie was sitting up watching, giggling, and clapping. Diavolo kept trying to approach Lucifer.
"NO get away from me you little- hey you too Diavolo! I don't need any help! O-OW! STOP THAT, BABY! WHAT DID I DO?? NO, DIAVOLO I DON'T NEED YOUR HELP! I DON'T NEED ANYBODY'S HELP! I CAN DO IT BY MYSE- OW!
You walked over, and after gently uncurling his fingers, you managed to get Satan off of Lucifer. Satan wasn't very happy with that, and started kicking and screaming in your arms...until you said the magic word.
"CATS! Do want to see some cats?"
Solomon shot you a questioning look, but you pulled out your D.D.D and searched for "Funny Cat Videos".
"...meow?" Satan looked at you for the first time without a hint of anger in his eyes. "Meow." You responded affirmatively. You gave him your D.D.D, and then turned to look at the remainder if the boys.
"....ok. I'm not going to ask what happened or who exactly was involved. We're just going to try again, ok? Now-"
"Wait! We still don't know their names!" Simeon had gained some confidence back. "...actually, how did you know my name? I never told you." You quickly gave Solomon a mischievous glance.
"I can read minds." You turned to look at the other boys again.
"Oh yeah? What's my name?"
Mammon strolled up to you, hands on his hips, chest puffed and with a huge, cocky smile.
"You're Mammon, the second eldest. You like anything shiny, and you don't like sharing." Mammon's face was priceless. You hadn't said much, but it was enough to convince him that you were the coolest person he had ever met. "Ok. You can stay."
You laughed internally, and continued to interact with the other boys...until you realized that Lucifer was missing.
"Has anyone seen Lucifer?"
"Oh, yeah. After you got that baby off him he walked away down that hallway." Mammon replied offhandedly.
This concerned you. "Ok everybody, Solomon is going to do a magic show!"
Solomon seemed a little surprised. He came up to you and whispered, "I thought I should get working on dinner. Are you sure you want me to...play with them?" "Yes, I'm sure. Just make sure my D.D.D isn't close to dying otherwise Satan may not take well to that. I'll only be a few minutes, then I'll get to work on dinner." Your comment about Satan seemed to be enough to convince Solomon to stay.
You started making your way down the hallway when a small hand took yours. You looked down to see Diavolo. He pulled your hand gently. "I need to tell you something without anyone else hearing." You knelt down so that he could whisper in your ear. "I know you lied about my dad. What's actually going on?" You facepalmed internally, for having forgotten about Diavolo's ability to discern the truth from lies. You chose your next words carefully.
"I'm sorry I lied, and I'm very grateful that you came to talk to me one on one instead of yelling it in front of the other boys. It could have made them panic more, but you acted like a real prince for me. Thank you. Right now, your dad just isn't able to watch you. These other boys don't remember me, but I knew them very well before. (You hoped for the sake of simplicity, that this child would not ask, 'before what?') But I can promise you this. I will do everything in my power to keep you and everyone else safe and happy." Diavolo looked thoughful for a moment, then nodded. "Ok....though I don't really mind either way. I wanted new friends!" He swiftly turned to rejoin the others.
Now to find Lucifer.
The Ghost of Smokey Joe (5)
Nightmare
No lyrics in this chapter, because the song in the title has no words. But it really embodies everything I wanted to say with the chapter.
Also, ALL ABOARD THE ANGST TRAIN CHOO CHOOOOOO
“Do you have those drafts ready for the meeting?” Asked Marinette, peering into her co-worker’s office, a very peppy woman named Jill.
“Of course! I’ve gotten them matted, just like you asked. 10, right?”
“Yes! Thank God someone is doing their job right today.”
“Oh, Marinette, where are your shoes?”
Marinette looked down to her bare feet. “Oh, I wore pumps that are great for working at my desk and walking to the water cooler, but they got kicked off somewhere around 9 this morning.”
“That bad, huh?”
“Have you seen Tim? He’s fixing the sizing sheet and I can’t find him anywhere!”
“Did you try his office?”
Marinette’s jaw dropped. “Tim has an office?! Since when?”
“Since always? Are you okay? You look like you could use a nap…or at least a cup of coffee.”
Marinette groaned. “No naps! No more coffee! My heart is just a hum now anyway! I haven’t been able to sleep the last few days and last night I didn’t sleep at all. I got this weird phone call—“ she stopped herself before she said too much. “Anyway, yes, Tim does have an office. I forgot.”
“And he’s always so good at emails, you never need to talk to him. I know. We had this same conversation last week.”
Marinette groaned again as she covered her face in shame. “Why is Mr. Agreste doing this to me?”
“Speaking of Mr. Agreste, have you gotten any answers from him today? I’ve sent three emails and he’s not responding at all. Apparently Tim’s having the same problem with Adrien.”
“I haven’t heard a thing from the manor. Not Gabriel, not Adrien, not even Nathalie. We’re supposed to have a meeting at 2, but I haven’t heard if that’s still on.”
“Doesn’t Adrien usually come into the office on meeting days?”
“He did…I don’t know what's up with him. He was being super cagey with me yesterday when I went to talk to him.” She sighed, hunching her shoulders. “I’m worried.” She didn’t disclose the truth of the conversation, that Adrien had effectively ended their friendship. It was too painful, but too fresh to ignore.
“I’ve been working here since Emilie was still around. Gabriel went through a huge personality shift when she disappeared. Maybe Adrien takes after his dad? Maybe something happened?”
“Ugh, don’t talk like that, I’ll just worry more!” An alert beeped from her phone, letting her know she had an email. “Ah! An intern’s job is never done! See you later!”
“Good luck, Marinette!” Jill called. After she left, she added, “you’re going to need it.”
At two o’clock, the department heads and designers all came together in the conference room. Marinette set up her laptop to the screen and had the presentation open, as well as the Skype call to Gabriel.
He had yet to join the session, but it was still a few minutes before the meeting officially began.
“I see you’re wearing shoes now,” said Jill.
“I don’t know if I could handle the ridicule from Mr. Agreste if he saw me bare foot in the conference room.” Marinette chuckled weakly.
“As if Gabriel would ever reprimand you,” said someone else. “He adores you.”
“That must be why he took a vacation and told no one,” she laughed again. Was her filter fading with all this sleep deprivation? Probably.
Finally, the call started, but Nathalie took the helm instead.
Before questions could be asked, she announced, “I’m afraid this meeting must be postponed.” No ‘hello’, no ‘thank you for your patience and hard work’. It was enough to make Marinette snap in all of her exhaustion and emotional turmoil.
“Nathalie, with all due respect, everyone is here and ready to go. Why isn’t Gabriel ready?” She huffed.
Nathalie glanced away from the camera, a tell that she was about to deliver a great blow. “Mr. Agreste is deceased.”
The room went silent. Someone dropped a pen.
Marinette fell into a chair, feeling like the ground was shaking under her.
“Early this morning, both Gabriel and Adrien passed away. A joint visitation and funeral will be held at the manor on Friday evening and Saturday morning, respectively. Everyone is invited, but it’s not mandatory, of course.”
Marinette couldn’t swallow the lump in her throat; it was so thick.
“The fall line will not be released this season. Two weeks paid vacation will be passed on as we prepare the new head designer to take Gabriel’s place.”
Someone asked, “Who is the new designer?”
Most heads looked to Marinette, knowing the answer.
“Marinette Dupain-Cheng has been determined to be the new head designer.”
She sputtered out of her shock. “What? Me?! No! Surely not! I’m just an intern!”
“Intern to the head designer,” someone clarified. “We all knew you were going to be hired as his assistant soon. It was obvious.”
“But—but—“ she stammered. It was rather obvious, thinking about it. Gabriel was just waiting for her to secure that college degree to make it official. “I can’t! I just—“ Without any preamble, tears burst forth and rolled down her face.
Adrien was gone.
Her best friend. The love of her life. Without a goodbye, and on such horrible terms.
Screw the responsibilities, the job title didn’t matter. She didn’t care at all.
Several arms wrapped around her, her coworkers, her friends, comforting as best as they could.
“No one is expecting you to jump right in,” Nathalie explained. “You were quite close to both of them.”
“What about you?” Marinette rasped out.
“I had my moment earlier. I’m in business mode now. If anyone would like more details, please reach me privately.”
And she left. Like a whirlwind, leaving destruction in her path.
“Can you get home on your own?” Someone asked Marinette.
She thought she confirmed affirmative, but someone led her from the room with an arm around the shoulder. Maybe it was Tim. She didn’t really know. She didn’t really care.
When she arrived home, she dropped her purse on the floor. Where were her other bags? At the office? Oh well, didn’t matter now.
Nothing mattered anymore.
“Girl, you look like you’ve seen a ghost.”
Alya and Nino were home, they were here and alive, and they didn’t know.
They didn’t know and she had to tell them.
“He’s gone,” She whispered.
“Who?” Asked Alya, resting a comforting hand on her arm.
“Adrien…he—he’s dead.”
“…what?” Nino squeaked out. “H-how? Why?”
“I don’t know…he and Gabriel—“ she stopped and flexed her hand. Her phone was still in her hand. It held answers.
She called Nathalie on video.
“Hello Marinette. I’m glad to see you made it home safe. I was worried.”
“What happened?” She blurted. “Nino and Alya know that he died. What happened?” Because there had to be a reasonable explanation.
Nathalie’s face morphed from serious business to pain and pity. “Are you sure you want to know?”
God, with a preamble like that, it couldn’t be good. Not painless like Carbon monoxide poisoning in their sleep, and not instant like a car accident.
“Please Nathalie, I have to know.”
She breathed shakily and admitted, “it was a murder-suicide, as enacted by Adrien. He first stabbed Gabriel, and then himself.”
“Augh!” Marinette sobbed out. It was an ugly sound that couldn’t be controlled or silenced.
“I’m sorry. I wish I could lie…but I can’t. Adrien had been acting strange lately…I think Gabriel knew this was going to happen.”
“No! You’re lying!” Marinette yelled. “Adrien loved his father! He would never—he’s not like that!”
“Marinette, I saw them. Adrien was obviously deeply disturbed.”
“SHUT UP!!” She ended the call and dropped the phone on the floor.
Then she looked to her friends, who were both bawling like her. Nino moved first and pulled her into a tight hug. Alya came around the other side, crushing her in a Marinette-sandwich.
“You’re right, he wouldn’t do that.” Alya offered. “But they’re both gone, so we can’t prove anything.”
“If Nathalie didn’t tell the office, then the truth might never come out,” Said Nino, nodding in reassurance. “Only the four of us will have any idea.”
After a long time, numbness started to set in. There was a degree of disbelief in her still, where she may have heard it, but she didn’t see it.
That left room for doubt.
Without a word, she took her phone from the floor and wandered back to her room.
After the door closed, Tikki appeared. “Marinette…”
But she wasn’t listening. She was staring at her phone screen, like she was trying to solve a puzzle.
Then she started a call.
It rang and rang and rang and rang…
“Hey there, it’s Adrien, I’m not available to answer right now. But leave me a message or shoot me a text, and I’ll get back to you. Hope you have a great day!”
The phone beeped.
“Adrien,” she sobbed. “Adrien I know—goddamnit this sucks. I’m too late. I love you so much, and I’m too late. I wish I told you sooner. Even last night when you called—I’m sorry I didn’t know you were struggling. I’m sorry I didn’t know how to help you. I loved you so much and I couldn’t save you and I’m so sorry…”
“Marinette…” Tikki tried to tell her to stop.
“This is the closest I could get to telling you. And you’ll never hear it and—“
The phone beeped again, signaling the end of the recording.
She saved it, and set the phone down.
“Marinette…”
“What is it, Tikki? What’s so important?”
“I have to tell you something…but it’s really really bad.”
“Well, hit me with it. Today is literally the worst day of my life.”
“Adrien…well, he was Chat Noir.”
As if the day couldn’t get any worse.
“What?”
“Chat Noir. He was Adrien.”
“But—but he can’t be. You must be confused.”
“Marinette, he literally wore the earrings before.”
“I KNOW!” She screamed. “But you have to tell me he's someone else! Because I can’t lose both of them! I can’t do it Tikki!”
“I know it hurts. You two were literally soul mates. The Ladybug and Black Cat always are.”
“You’re not helping!” She sobbed.
“I know, I’m sorry.”
Tikki allowed Marinette to sob for a while, letting her anguish spill out of her. Tikki just kept watch for the Akuma that never came.
“You know what you have to do next, right?” Asked Tikki.
“What?”
She sighed. “You have to go to the visitation and take back the ring.”
“I can’t do that!” Marinette cried, horrified. “I can’t! There’s no way!”
“We’ll he can’t be buried with it. You have to, Marinette.”
Marinette crawled into bed, still fully clothed and wept and wept and wept until her tears burned her cheeks and exhaustion took hold.
“On the surface, Gordon Tracy is a simple man. A sunny smile, always likes a joke, give him a body of water and you can lose him in it.
“Any body of water.
“I once lost him in the bath.
“Though, you could probably relate that back to point number two and the liking a joke thing.
“Yes, Gordon is a simple man.
“On the surface.
“But only on the surface, because really, he is anything but.
“Meeting that smile under those laughing brown eyes and strawberry blond hair, you could be forgiven for thinking he is a joker out to make fun. You could miss the assessing eyes, the grace with which he walks, the hidden tells of experience and trial. You can’t see the scars; you can’t see the knowledge or the training.
“You could shake his hand and share that laugh and not know how many times that hand has reached out to grab another, to offer another chance, to save a life. You’ve never watched it dance across a control panel leagues under the ocean surface in the dark. You’ve never seen it push down on a ribcage to keep a heart beating.
“You’ve never seen it gently cup a handful of seawater to save a tiny fish caught in a drying rock pool.
“If you shared that joke, you would not know its history and how such jokes kept him from the edge during some of his darkest days.
“You could know of his brothers and the billions, of International Rescue, the Olympic Gold Medal, the party scene he played for all of six months in his teens. You may even know of his military career with WASP.
“But you won’t know Gordon.
“Because the laughter and the jokes? They are only his facade, a method to cope, a philosophy to guide his life. They are a reason to laugh rather than cry.
“Underneath there is a man of great feeling, a young mind full of wonder that has been slapped back so many times that now getting back up is the default.
“You could look at him and think ‘a billionaire, what does he have to worry about?’ But really, it only takes one life changing disaster to crush a man. Gordon has faced so many more.
“He has four brothers, a sister and a grandmother all of which it is obvious he cherishes deeply. He has friends and heroes and a growing love that needs nurturing like a flickering flame. But he is ever aware that these things are temporary, that they can be taken away suddenly and irrevocably. He has seen the glassiness of death and faced down the reaper himself.
“So.
“The laughter.
“The dye in the shampoo.
“The pillow in the pool.
“The itching powder on the bath towel.
“The hell let loose on April Fool’s Day every damn year.
“They are but a symptom of the man you are facing, and yet so why you are going to regret what you are doing.”
Virgil blinked and as if on cue, his brother stepped out of the shadows behind Virgil’s tormentor and, with a move Kayo would have applauded, wrenched his arm behind his back, took his knees out from under him and pinned him to the floor. Another blink and the man was restrained and gagged.
A pair of russet brown eyes swam into his vision, dark in the sharp shadows of the harsh lamp light. “Hey, Virg, that was some speech. Who knew you could be so eloquent under pressure.”
“He’s strong. He’s going to kick your ass.”
“Hey, hey, Virgil. I’m Gordon, remember? The joker guy you said was going to save your ass.” There were fingers fiddling with his restraints. “C’mon, we gotta get you out of here. Won’t be long before they discover I escaped.”
“Don’t underestimate my brother. He’s funny, but he’s so much more.”
“In any other circumstances, I’d be lapping this up, but Virgil, we need to get you onto your feet. I’m strong, but not strong enough for your heavy lifting. C’mon, up you get.” He was being pulled up. His body creaked.
“Gordon is going to come. You’re going to regret it.”
“Yes, yes, help me here, Virgil. I did come. I’m here. It is time to go.”
“You’re going to regret it.”
“Okay, arm over my shoulder, we gotta move!” A grunt. “What the hell did they give you?! Some kind of truth serum?”
“You want to know the truth?” Oooh, the world was wobbling. “Gordon can be scary. You’re going to regret it so much.”
“Ah, yeah, you’ve mentioned that, Virgil. Um, you’re going to have to be quiet for a bit. We have to sneak past some bad guys.”
“Bad guys want to hurt Gordon. Can’t let them hurt Gordon. Tried to kick their asses, but I’m not like Gordon or Scott, couldn’t do it. Too many. Now they want to hurt Gordon. Can’t let them hurt him. No, no, can’t...”
“Shit. Virgil, shhh! Just be quiet for a minute, please.”
Quiet. He blinked. Augh, the world was even wobblier. Gordon was coming. Gordon was coming. “Can’t let them hurt Gordon-“ There was suddenly a hand over his mouth. He panicked and struggled. A muffled yell and he found himself falling, the world spinning until his head hit something hard and he saw stars.
The world became only sound from then on. Voices, more yelling, the thud of flesh hitting flesh, a gunshot. Virgil jumped at its sharp crack. Someone swore. A snap that could only be bone. A thud and then silence.
The world began to drift away.
“Virgil?! You with me? C’mon, bro, please.”
A slow blink. Blurry images. “Gordon?”
“Yes. You with me?”
“Knew you would come. Kick their ass.”
“Yeah, you mentioned that.” A sigh. “Can you stand?”
Another slow blink. “Don’t mess with my brother, he’ll kick your ass.”
“I’ll take that as a maybe.” Gordon was tugging on his arm, so Virgil tried to stand. Woah. The whole world tipped on its edge and swung him around. “Shit!”
“Sorry, bro, but we gotta move now. You can throw up on my shoes later.” And then he was in motion.
The blurs burred together. He squeezed his face shut and clung to the man holding him, desperate for it all to stop.
Make it stop.
“Not much longer, Virgil, I promise.” It was little more than a whisper.
Another stomach churning drag across a blurry room and suddenly everything went green.
Oh.
Oh.
He knew that green. That smell. Oh, his beautiful ‘bird.
“Sit here.” He was being lowered onto a hard surface. “I’ll be back in a moment.” And Gordon was gone.
Gone.
“Gordon?”
A yell, followed by a scream and a thud. A litany of curses he didn’t know his brother even knew.
“Gordon?”
“It’s okay. I’m here.” Hands on his. “We’re okay, but we need to be fast.” He was pulled up again, his arm wrapped around shoulders and they were moving.
He lost a moment only to find himself sitting in a chair. A familiar chair with a familiar roar building in his bones. “Two.”
“Yeah, Virg, we’re on your ‘bird. Hang tight, because I’m afraid I might have to scratch her paintwork.”
“You wouldn’t do that. We only joke about it.”
“Well, I’m not in a joking mood right now.” The sound that followed that statement cut through the roar.
Her laser. He was using her laser.
He forced his eyes open and yes, he could see the red glow through the blur. “What are you doing?”
“Cutting our way out of here.”
“Where?”
“They stole your ‘bird, Virg. Remember?”
Voices on the edge of his hearing. Yelling. Another gunshot. Men.
It had been a trap and they had been caught and Virgil had been separated from his brother. His little brother. Please don’t hurt his brother. Please!
“It’s okay, we’re escaping. Another five seconds. Hang in there, Virgil.”
But Gordon was strong. He would kick their asses.
Oh god, please don’t hurt him. Please don’t. I tried. I really tried. Not enough. Not enough. Please don’t hurt him.
A loud crash and his body was shoved back into the seat. His head spun again.
His Thunderbird roared. Her rear thrusters kicked in and sung in his bones. His body lifted from the Earth and tore into the sky.
He let out a gasp, the sudden familiarity heart-stopping.
“Thunderbird Five, you there?”
“Gordon! Thank, God. What happened?”
“Brief you shortly. I need to get Virgil to a hospital, but first I want to put some distance between us and the bastards who hurt him. Please advise Wellington that we will be...”
His brother’s voice faded out, taken by the blur and the hissing of blood in his ears.
-o-o-o-
“C’mon, Virgil, I know you’re in there. Time to wake up.”
What?
“Viiiiirgiiiiil.” Gordon. It was Gordon and he was singing his name.
Ugh.
He shoved his eyes open and glared at his brother. “What?!”
“Ooh, welcome back to the land of the living. Nice entrance.”
“Gordon, what the hell? Let me sleep.”
“Nope.” His lips popped on the ‘p’.
Virgil’s eyes closed a moment and it took him a second to realise they had. He shoved them open again.
Ceiling tiles.
He was in hospital.
“Why am I in hospital?” He searched his slowly booting brain, but found no recollection of injury other than...
He sat up in bed. “It was a trap! They stole my-“ And the world caught up with him and whacked him around the head.
Two sets of hands caught him as he fell back towards the pillow. “Shit.”
“Take it easy, Virgil, you’ve been through quite a bit.”
His body sunk into the bed. Scott. Thank god. So happy to hear his brother’s voice.
He frowned. “What happened?”
“What do you remember?”
“Callout. Central Texas. Gas explosion. No fly zone. It was a trap. Nabbed me. Nabbed Gordon. Wanted Two...” He frowned. “Gets fuzzy. A fight. I lost?”
“We think so. You have quite a lot of bruising, a couple of cracked ribs and two head injuries.”
“Two?”
“Yeah, and you also had a bloodstream full of some nasty chemicals. They drugged you pretty bad. Took the doctors some time to identify with exactly what. You’ve been mostly out of it for a couple of days.”
“Days?!”
“You were unconscious for most of it.”
A frown. “Most of it?” He didn’t remember any of it.
“Yeah.”
He eyed his eldest brother and was somewhat unnerved by the fact he wasn’t keeping eye contact. “What did I do?”
“Nothing of importance.”
“Like what?”
“There was some delirium. Look, Virg, you were ill. Don’t worry about it.”
He stared at his brother a moment longer. Perhaps not knowing was a good thing, but then...perhaps he could third degree his brother later when he had more stamina.
“How did we get out?”
Scott nodded in Gordon’s direction. “Gordon got you out. Five couldn’t find you. They had tech enough to baffle our sensors.” And it was obvious that Scott hated that with a passion.
Virgil turned to his younger brother. “You got us out? How?”
“Oh, with my wily skillz and sense of humour.” Gordon grinned at him.
Virgil’s lips thinned. “Does that mean you’re not going to tell me, or that I should nag you until you do?”
“Have at it, big bro, and we’ll see how it slides.”
Augh. He so did not have the energy for this. “Gordon!”
“Yessssh, Massster?”
He closed his eyes and grit his teeth. “Fine. We will discuss it later.”
“Cool. I’ll bring snacks.”
A sigh and he opened his eyes to assess his little brother. “You okay?”
“Yep, just fine and dandy. You’re the one sporting all the bruises this time, bro. You’re the one who will have to be nagged to rest regularly, eat regularly and get tortured by Grandma’s home cooking.”
Virgil stared at him. “Are you sure you’re okay?”
“Yepper doodles.”
“What?!”
“Virg, don’t you worry your little head about it. Just rest and take it easy.” A hand landed on his arm and squeezed gently.
He was still staring. “Scott, did he get checked over?”
“He’s fine, Virgil. Stop worrying.” A sigh. “He’s just being Gordon...and if he doesn’t stop, I’m going to kick his ass.”
Kick his ass.
Virgil blinked. “You got us out of there.”
“That I did.”
“Thank you.”
“Anytime, bro.” A grin split his little brother’s face, but something flickered in the depths of his eyes for just a second. Virgil frowned, but it was gone too quickly. Gordon’s grin took over everything.
“Anytime.”
Jake let out a sigh of relief as he stepped through into his apartment. Quickly he locked and dead bolted the door, and slid the security chain into place. After nearly three years at the hospital he never entered his apartment without immediately doing those three things. He turned on several lights and moved to the kitchen to start a pot of coffee brewing before dropping himself onto the couch.
Jake retrieved a cup of coffee and settled himself into the couch. He kicked off his shoes to display his mismatched socks as he loosened his tie. He was very glad to be home, but at the same time it increased his anxiety. While he was an introvert and did enjoy spending time alone with Jackie, the last few months had been hard. Lately when he was alone he turned to Weed, but for the past two weeks he had been trying to avoid using it. He hadn't been very successful. He had tried to wean himself off slowly, but once he had taken a small dose he usually got to the point that he didn't care and ended up taking more. Already, though he had only just gotten home, he felt his eyes drifting to the bathroom where he kept the drug hidden. He gripped his coffee cup tightly, trying to fight off the urge to use.
He thought briefly about calling one of the team to see if they wanted to go out for something to eat, but quickly decided against it, deciding he needed the rest of the evening to relax. Jake sighed and put his cup on the coffee table. He rubbed his face and again his eyes drifted to the bathroom. He was so tired, but he knew that he probably wouldn't be able to sleep without some help. He groaned and leaned back on the couch, and tried to distract himself by watching random videos on Youtube.
Abruptly he stood and crossed to the bathroom. He tore open the medicine cabinet and pulled the last of the weed out of its hiding spot in a box meant to hold cough syrup. Not that he really ever had anyone over to his place besides his old roommates, but he still wasn't careless enough to leave it out in the open. He tossed the box aside and unscrewed the top of the bottle. He held it wavering in his hand. He wanted desperately to just tip the bottle to empty the contents into the sink and be done with it. He had had this battle with himself many times before. Two times he had even succeeded, but then found himself calling his dealer only hours later to gain more.
Jake ran into his and Jackie’s bedroom and pulled out pieces of rolling paper and made blunts. Jackie was the only person who knew that he still smoked as he told the others that he quit a few weeks ago. He remained on the floor for quite some time, feeling no desire to move back to the living room with the tv still on.. He was perfectly content where he sat, enjoying the feeling of nothingness and after a while he dozed a bit. He didn't know how much time had passed before he heard a knock at the door. It had probably hadn't been more than an hour or two. He tried to ignore it, but whoever it was knocking was persistent.
Groaning, he rolled to his knees then used the edge of the bed to pull himself to his feet. He legs felt rubbery, so he stood there for a moment to steady himself. He looked at his reflection and stifled a giggle. At the moment he found looking in the mirror incredibly funny, but he wasn't entirely sure why. It felt somewhat surreal, looking at himself. The knocking at the door became more persistent. He sighed. It was probably was one of his friends. No one else ever came to his home this late.
He cringed as his door was pounded on, and this time was accompanied by a voice. "Come on, I know you're home. Please open the door." Jake sighed heavily. Sienna. Of course it was her. Anyone else would probably have given up, but she would be there until two in the morning, still knocking if he thought that was home. Jake shook his head and made his way down the hallway slowly. He hadn't even made it halfway when Sienna knocked again, louder.
"I'm coming, I'm coming," Jake called out. He made it to the door and fumbled with the locks, struggling with the security chain. It took several tries for him to be able to slide it free. He swung the door open. "What are you doing here, Sienna?" he asked, not bothering to try to hide his irritation. "Hey, grumpy much?" Sienna smirked and raised her hands. Jake didn't respond except to glare and gave a roll of his eyes. "Aren't you going to invite me in?" "You've never been out this late before. Why did you decide to just show up in the middle of the night?"
"Somebody's cranky when his beauty sleep gets interrupted." Sienna pushed past Jake into the apartment without his invitation. He held up a brown paper bag. "I left the office about an hour after you did and I thought I'd stop and grab some Chinese at that really good restaurant and then realized how close I was to your place so I figured I pick some up for you and Jackie and bring it over here, but as she’s asleep you can have hers”
"That restaurant is almost seven miles from here, Sienna," Jake said.
Sienna didn't seem fazed as he walked into the kitchen and rummaged through the cupboards for paper plates not caring if she woke Jackie up. "I got those egg rolls that you like." "Okay, I see we're just going to pretend that you showing up here is normal," Jake grumbled. He followed Sienna as he brought the plates to the dining room.
Sienna looked around the luxury apartment, taking in the well-used but comfortable looking furniture and the many shelves housing hundreds of books and the one shelf that contained dozens of science fiction DVDs. " I can definitely tell that you live here and It shows that mostly everything belongs to you."
"It's my apartment, Sienna. Was it supposed to look like someone different lived here?"
She raised an eyebrow. "You usually reserve this level of hostility for occasions."
Jake blushed and looked away. "Sorry. I'm just tired."
Sienna shrugged. "Sit down and eat."
"I'm not really hun—"
"Sit," Sienna interrupted. "Eat." She ordered.
Jake dropped into the chair, looking a bit like a child who had been reprimanded for something. He grabbed one of the egg rolls and took a small bite.
"I'm fine," Jake said quickly.
"How often have you been using the drugs?" Sienna asked conversationally.
Jake looked up, the expression on his face giving the impression of him being a deer caught in the headlights. "What are you talking about?" he asked, voice a little higher than usual.
Sienna pushed his plate of food away and leaned forward, elbows on the table, and his face suddenly deadly serious. "You're high right now, aren't you?”
“Hey, I was still eating that” Jake screamed.
Jake laughed, the sound slightly hysterical. "Sienna, you- you're confused. I-I'm not-… I don't-…" he sputtered, trying to keep the smile on his face. "That's crazy," he finally managed to finish.
Sienna's face was still locked in that serious look. "I'm sorry, kid. I knew something was going on with you, we all did. I thought maybe it was PTSD. But we all left you to deal with it on your own. We should have been there for you. I should have been there. I should have seen. I'm sorry."
The faux smile fell of Jake’s face as she spoke. He dropped his eyes to the table, seeming to struggle with himself to find the words. It looked as though he was trying to decide if he wanted to admit to the drug use or to continue to try to deny it. The internal battle waged for nearly a minute before he looked back up. "Pretty stupid thing to do for someone who's supposed to be a genius isn't it?" he smiled, but it was bitter and self-deprecating.
"Not stupid. Not really smart either," Sienna sighed, looking at Jake his dark eyes troubled. "It's Weed, isn't it?" “Jackie has been telling me.”
Jake nodded, almost imperceptibly, avoiding eye contact. Morgan wasn't reacting to this in a way he had expected. There was no yelling, or threatening. No accusations or anger, only a weary acceptance. "I stole it from one of they younger interns after their first week and got hooked, not even my brother whose a year above me knows. After I ran out I bought my own. I t-… I tried to stop. I really did. I threw it out twice. But I always-… I always got more afterwards." He ran a trembling hand through his hair.
"How often do you take it?"
"Usually only once a day, but I don't take it at all if we're working a case," he elaborated, shooting a quick glance at Sienna.
"Why do you only take it when you're home?" She asked him. She was still acting much to calm for Jake to understand, and things that Jake didn't understand made him nervous.
Jake shook his head. "If the other know, for sure Ethan might have to report it, and you'll be fired. I won't tell him as long as you stop."
Jake looked desperate. "I've tried before, Sienna. I don't think I can do it." He looked so hopeless that it almost made Sienna want to cry.
But she didn't. Instead she leaned forward and put his hand on the older man's shoulder. "Yes, you can, and you will. You've only tried by yourself before. Now you've got help. You don't have to be alone anymore."
6:25 AM
Existence Is A Prison
pure: It's a birthday! That means birthday breakfasts are in order!
life is a nightmare: Kiyo made everyone yakisoba buns with enoki and I made soup dumplings to celebrate.
farmer toshi: You two are so sweet, thank you.
deku deck-you: Thanks, girls.
pure: No problem!
saviour: I will not be attending class today. I will not be leaving my room today.
feral cat dad: What's wrong?
saviour: Painful period. Dysphoria. Hate living.
feral cat dad: I'm sorry, kid. I'll tell Vlad you're dehydrated and have Nemuri take care of you, she'll know more than me, but I'll bring a hot water bottle, food, and some company for you in the meantime.
saviour: Thank you, Mr. Aizawa.
feral cat dad: I am the father collective here, it's only fair I parent my child.
8:30 AM
Existence Is A Prison
nat20: I'm recording the classes for you so you don't miss anything, Ibara, dear.
saviour: Thank you, Seiko.
nat20: Not a problem, love. I don't want to see you falling behind when you don't deserve to. I mean, it's surely not your fault uterus' exist.
saviour: You're amazing.
nat20: I know.
12:45 PM
Existence Is A Prison
schrodinger better run: I'm bringing over lunch, Ibara.
saviour: You're all too nice to me. I shouldn't even be in bed still.
schrodinger better run: Ibara, honey, we're nice because we care about you. You deserve to rest this off and see when you feel better. There's no rushing yourself. I'm sure that, once you rest up a bit, Recovery Girl can help 'heal' the cramps or at least tone them down a bit.
saviour: Still, thank you. All of you.
2:04 PM
Existence Is A Prison
gay salt: I think this is hilarious, personally.
nat20: What's even happening over in 1-A, you guys have been yelling and all for like ten minutes.
gay salt: birthdayboysinbirthdayhats.jpg
gay salt: Shinsou had to come deliver something to Mr. Aizawa from Mr. Snipe's class and now everyone is questioning Kats and Hito if they're twins and Midoriya's trying to chill everyone out. Really, you should be here, Seiko.
nat20: They are twins. I mean, practically, yes, they are.
ranch flavored jello: I know, it's great. The best part is that everyone is in such a heated debate about it.
feral cat dad: I have no clue what's even happening but I'm not gonna stop this unless Katsuki or Hitoshi says something.
foil-mecha: ourclassrightnow.jpg
schrodinger better run: Todoroki, please. It's not that deep, man.
foil-mecha: I don't think he cares, honestly.
nat20: I heard more screaming. Vlad King is starting to get concerned.
foil-mecha: They said they are twins and Midoriya's trying to ask why Katsuki's mother cheated on his father. This is the funniest thing, honestly.
3:15 PM
Existence Is A Prison
gay salt: Okay, I found the 2006 First Year Sports Festival and I just need you all to see Mr. Aizawa as our age.
gay salt: younglankyaizawamidbattlewithtensei.jpg
foil-mecha: Mr. Aizawa, you were tiny.
feral cat dad: To be fair, I was an idiot kid and didn't eat well until like a week prior to that Sports Festival.
ranch flavored jello: I'll punt kick you, Dad.
feral cat dad: Yeah, yeah, I know. I started eating better after that, I promise.
gay salt: lankyaizawatakingdowntensei.jpg
nat20: Mr. Aizawa was a strong little stringbean.
feral cat dad: If you call me a stringbean again, I'll make you do garbage duty for a month.
nat20: That's normal, Father Collective.
feral cat dad: Curse these children being functional human beings.
President Megaphone: At least we know they clean up after each other and themselves.
President Megaphone: Plus, you were a stringbean, Shouta, so it's a fair statement.
deku deck-you: Wait, I just realized Mr. Aizawa told us he was divorced.
gay salt: Oh yeah, he did and nobody even questioned it!
ranch flavored jello: To be fair, we were busy introducing ourselves.
feral cat dad: Yeah, I was married for a while after high school. Maybe a year, I think.
President Megaphone: 10 months and 17 days from December 2010 to October 2011. I still think it's funny you didn't even spend one birthday married.
farmer toshi: Dad, what happened!?
feral cat dad: Well, you see, I had pressure put on me to get married to a girl I knew because we both weren't out yet as gay and lesbian, respectively, and we both realized during our marriage that it wasn't working so we went through a mutual divorce and are still friends.
President Megaphone: Yeah, Shouta and Sosaki are friends.
life is a nightmare: Shino Sosaki? Mandalay from the Wild Wild Pussycats?
feral cat dad: The one and only.
life is a nightmare; Wow.
9:52 PM
Existence Is A Prison
schrodinger better run: Dating sucks.
feral cat dad: Why, what's up, Pony?
schrodinger better run: My gf broke up with me because she realized I'm actually in Japan. I mean, I told her a hundred times but she never believed me that I was going international. for high school.
deku deck-you: Eh, the trash got rid of itself from what it sounds like.
schrodinger better run: I mean, I'm kind of happy because she never really liked me for more than just saying she was dating a cute girl but I also feel bad about being happy that we're broken up.
ranch flavored jello: Ice cream and cry?
schrodinger better run: Thank you, Toru, it's much appreciated.
2:26 AM
Existence Is A Prison
farmer toshi: Hey, dad?
feral cat dad: Yes?
farmer toshi: Can I sleep in your room?
feral cat dad: Yeah, sure, come on. Don't let the cats out.
farmer toshi: You're not even gonna ask me why?
feral cat dad: Should it matter?
farmer toshi: Well, I don't think so. I just don't want to have another nightmare but usually the caregivers at the orphanage would ask for a good reason.
feral cat dad: Well, you don't need one with me. Just don't let the cats out is my only request. Ai has figured out how to open the kitchen door and will get lost on UA grounds again.
farmer toshi: Kumo is staring at me while I open the door.
feral cat dad: Yeah, he's like that. Just ignore him, focus more of keeping Ai from making a break for it.
farmer toshi: Alright.
11:04 AM
Existence Is A Prison
feral cat dad: Alright, I was going through you kids' files during my free period and Tsunotori, your birthday is today.
schrodinger better run: Oh, I don't like celebrating my birthday. I haven't celebrated it since I was six.
feral cat dad: Why, what happened?
schrodinger better run: My cousin from my biological family made fun of my feet, we got in a fight, and I couldn't explain to defend myself so I got grounded and wasn't allowed to celebrate my birthday so I just haven't celebrated it since then.
feral cat dad: Is there still a day we can celebrate with you that isn't today?
schrodinger better run: I like celebrating my adoption date as my new birthday. October 7th.
feral cat dad: I'll put a reminder for that.
saviour: Wait, are you putting all of our birthdays as reminders?
feral cat dad: Perhaps.
7:15 AM
Existence Is A Prison
foil-mecha: I'm going to the convenience store before school for breakfast in class because I want sandos and energy drinks. Anyone else want? Say yes.
feral cat dad: YES.
foil-mecha: Are you okay? You responded in like one second.
feral cat dad: I'm just realizing I like someone and I'm suffering.
gay salt: Please.
nat20: Yes.
farmer toshi: Two redbulls and anything with egg, please.
saviour: Fruit if it's there.
pure: Yes.
schrodinger better run: Yes, I'm so hungry.
life is a nightmare: Ham is preferred, please and thank you.
ranch flavored jello: Yes, food.
deku deck-you: Yes, please.
foil-mecha: Everyone will receive redbulls and sandos.
8:15 AM
Existence Is A Prison
foil-mecha: I got held up, there was a villain attack right outside the store when I got there. I'm with food and drink and on my way back.
feral cat dad: I've already written you a pass, it's taped to the wall just inside the gate, have fun delivering food to Hitoshi.
8:25 AM
Existence Is A Prison
farmer toshi: Tokoyami is a god.
farmer toshi: tworedbullsandthreesandos.jpg
nat20: Wow, he likes you.
foil-mecha: Oh, I got three for everyone. I just grabbed a bunch so everyone can pick.
nat20: Be careful at 1b, Mr. Kan is one of those 'bring something for yourself, share it with everyone' type of teachers.
foil-mecha: And I'll tell him to fuck off because us dorm kids didn't eat breakfast this morning.
deku deck-you: Yeah, our poor stove is dead.
ranch flavored jello: It wasn't my fault! I promise! I was just cooking and it died!
feral cat dad: To be fair, it is old. I think that thing's been there since I was in UA.
8:35 AM
Existence Is A Prison
nat20 has started a video chat
[Tokoyami opening door and Vlad King stops teaching and stares at him]
Kid, you're not my student. Your class is down the hall, are you lost? -Unknown
Hey, Pony, Kiyo. Here, pick three each and a drink or two. -foil-mecha
Young man, you can't just waltz into my classroom and hand unsolicited food to only two students. -Unknown
[Kiyomi and Pony are shown grabbing their sandos and redbulls from the large bag Tokoyami came in with]
You're right, I'm not. Ibara, Kageya, Seiko, come get yours too. I found a cool one I think you'll like, Ibara. -foil-mecha
Oh? What is it? -saviour
Well, I heard you say you like apples and melon. I found you a sando with both. -foil-mecha
I'm in love with you. -saviour
Sure, yeah Get your food, I need to get to 1-A. -foil-mecha
You should be in there now! This isn't your class! -Unknown
Sir? Sir. I really don't care. I have a pass from Mr. Aizawa and I'm literally about to leave. Our oven broke in the dorms so none of us ate breakfast this morning. I went to get us all breakfast and got held up with a villain attack. Kindly, sir, I think even Nezu would be unhappy if even a single one of us hero course students weren't eating breakfast this close to the Sports Festival. So, you feel free to carry on your lesson.
