Sorry, hijacking a post here. I wanted to add my own thoughts to this too. As some one who is largely a Dean fan but also as someone who also loves Sam.
I agree partly. I agree that Sam not looking for Dean or cas hurt him. I don't think he was upset with Sam because he decided to stop being a hunter but rather cause he expected Sam to look for him, to try to save him no matter what because that's kinda what they do for each other.
Despite their flaws, these brothers will go to hell and back for each other. That's what we know as an audience ever since Season 1 and that's what Dean knows too.
They can always be sure that if the other was in danger, or dead that the other will fight tooth and nail to bring them back. Even if they aren't comfortable talking with each other, or having conversations without their walls and shields. (Mostly Dean because he doesn't like putting his feelings on Sam. 1. Because he was taught to help/take care of Sam. 2. Because his trauma made him believe that his feelings don't matter and he is there to help others. Which of course isn't true but John sucks)
The reason why I really dislike Season 8 Sam is because his decisions and actions don't match up with any other season of Sam. I was blind sighted. Completely baffled when I watched it.
Because the Sam we know WOULD of looked for Dean and Cas. From everything we know, he would of. There's so many examples of him desperately looking for ways to save Dean. From Season 1 to 5, then again in season 10 and on. Season 1 episode 12. All of season 3. Flashbacks in season 4 to when Dean was dead are all examples of this.
My favorite trait of Sam's, other than his snarkiness of course, is his stubborness and the things he's willing to do to get what he wants. It reminds me of John but not, because while John will push until he dies to get revenge even if it hurts his kids, even if HE hurts his kids in the process, Sam cares about Dean and those around him. He will hold back if it means itll hurt Dean. Exp: Season 1 finale. The exception being, if Dean is dying. The things he's willing to do to save his big brother is insane and I would do the same thing if I were him.
In Season 8, Sam was weirdly apathetic about Dean being gone. I was very confused. I thought he was possessed or something.
So I'm with Dean. I would be hurt too. Simply because saving each other from death is their love language. Really. Its how they show their love--- by protecting and saving each other. When Sam didn't do that it was odd. Even I as a viewer had to wonder if Sam still cared about Dean, even if it should be obvious he does. Cause Sam, as we know, cares about Dean alot. However, season 8 didn't feel like Sam so I didn't know what to expect.
If Sam just looked for Dean, even for a week I would of been totally fine. Dean probably too. I would literally give not two shits that he started a life with Amelia, because I too, if I was sure my brother was dead and I was still hurt by my time in hell, would also look for some simple peaceful times. Do I think Sam, as characterized previously would settle down? Um, actually maybe. With season 7 basically being the 'sam suffers' season I do think he might of wanted a break.
I also have opinions on Sam not looking for Kevin but it doesn't really have much to do about this discussion and it's so out of character I can't even-
Now, my opinion is quite different from yours later in your post. I do not think Dean is controlling. like at all. He's not upset about Sam's independent thinking. And it's not like Sam cares about Dean's opinion on the healthy food he eats. Dean calls the salads he eats 'rabbit food' but Sam also comments on the junk food Dean eats. Its just these brothers teasing each other. It doesn't really mean anything. They aren't deeply insecure about their food.
Sam is also a VERY independent thinker. Hes constantly doing what he wants to do. He went with Dean in season 1 because he wanted to get revenge on the demon. He wanted to do hunts in season 2 (at least in the second episode) because he thinks it's what his dad would want, sure it's because of someone's (his stupid father) opinion but ultimately it's what he wanted to do. John isn't even there. In Season 3 he wants to save Dean, even if Dean doesn't want him too. Season 4 is literally Sam just doing what he wants despite Dean's warnings (which were correct of course. 😌 I'm proud of my boy) In season 5 he wants to stop the apocalypse. It was even his choice to let Lucifer take over his body in the end. Then it was his choice to sacrifice himself.
Most of the time Dean is encouraging Sam to do normal things. Hes actually quite upset that Sam didn't get a normal life. Like in Season 1 in the Shtriga episode when he admits that he wanted Sam to have kept his innocence as a child.
Dean WANTS Sam to have a normal life. So that's not what he was upset about in season 8. It was cause Sam didn't even bother to look. Even for a bit. Even with the amount of energy and time it takes to do a simple hunt. He just decided that Dean was dead i guess and moved on.
However, Dean isn't insecure about Sam's independent thinking.
Man, season 8 Sam makes me mad.
I’m on S8 of my rewatch and man, Sam not looking for Dean after he disappeared into Purgatory really triggered Dean’s abandonment issues.
I mean, yeah, Dean was pissed off because Sam didn’t even bother looking for him, and just kind of started a new life for himself, which is understandable. But it just clicked for me how much that would have exacerbated Dean’s abandonment issues.
Dean’s abandonment issues are so severe, that he even has difficulty with Sam having independent thought. Sam thinking about things differently or viewing things differently set Dean off. So many times, Sam expresses his independent thought, and Dean takes it as a personal attack on his own views and quickly snaps at him.
I mean it even trickles down to the choices Sam makes about the food he eats or the fact that he likes jogging to stay fit.
Man…. that’s some serious shit right there.

life is hard for us oz fans who are only meh about wicked. have half a meme.
#it's not even that i dislike boq as a character - he's fine. i think galinda is the most intriguing of the musical esp in her relationship#with power and how that relates to her relationships with other people. but boq is fine#i am just SO fucking tired of conflating boq wicked with nick chopper baum books#that's not my tin woodman. and i don't want him to be. nick (unlike many oz characters) has a very specific and set backstory#he has a whole damn book about it ffs#and boq is such a different character in terms of role symbolism and personality that i just cannot see him as even an au version of nick#fiyero too to be completely honest. though his mischaracterization doesn't bother me quite as much bc i read the book and he is rather#intriguing as a separate character - i don't love him in the musical tho. anyways specifically calling boq the tin woodman and saying#all the baum book stuff happened to him is so irritating to me because they are not at all the same. and nick is one of my favorite charas#in any media ever. idk. no hate if you like boq ofc and i don't want to stop you from having fun with the characters#i just am getting tired of the greater oz fandom latching on to wicked as fleshing out the baum or mgm characters. it's an entirely#different world. (and yes we can discuss the fact that wicked is intended to be canon compliant with the 39 film - but once again it's#a stretch to say it fits the charas. and that isn't the issue i have here.)#anyways. sorry. i'm just tired of wicked = boq = nick stuff#esp im annoyed at the fiyero and boq blorbo-ifying i see when the women of this musical are far more interesting and proactive#boq and fiyero are just furniture/pawns in the great drama that is elphaba's life and the way she pulls glinda into it with her#but WHATEVER i DIGRESS and shit. ignore this. whatever#it's the way people attempt to reconcile a lot of non-compliant media into whichever one they like the best. which is all fun and games#i am just being a hater. ok? this is me being a hater.#analysis#wizard of oz#wicked#wicked musical#toast talks oz#toasty talks

if dorian didn't show up, do you think louis would have shot minnie?
I do. I know some people think either he wouldn't have or he would've missed so that's why the writers had him shoot Dorian instead, but mmmmmm no, I don't personally think so. I like to think that if he had taken the shot, his shaky hands would've caused him to shoot her fatally.
Mostly because I'm already so normal about the fact that of the Ericson crew, Marlon and Louis are the only ones with a body count. Well, that we know of, but shown to us in the game, at least. Plus, we know it's Louis' first kill.
Like yeah, Clementine and AJ become part of the crew and they have bigger body counts, and if we're counting indirect kills caused by actions, then Tenn has a count... and I guess everyone has blood on their hands for blowing up the boat... but I'm talking about killed directly with a weapon like....... I lied, I'm not normal about that at all, Louis and Marlon are the ones who have killed someone in Louis' route. I'm also not normal about the fact that Louis kills Dorian and then even as he's clearly in shock, he tries to go with Clementine to get AJ, and then later on when they talk about it, he says it feels like bile but not quite and he's glad he has it in him to do it.... listen, listen, listen... I'm obsessed with that.
Anyway, so if Louis shot Minerva, I think he would've accidentally killed her and can you imagine? He's already enough of a mess after killing the woman who pinned him down and tried to cut his finger off [or succeeded] but he knew Minerva, they were friends before the twins were taken. Even Violet couldn't kill her even though that would've been the smarter thing to do, and we know thanks to meta knowledge that killing her would've saved lives, but Violet couldn't, and I don't think Louis would intentionally either.
Speaking of Violet, if Louis killed Minerva, I hate to think about what that would've done to Vi. I think she might've actually left at that point, like what was planned before it got changed to her being burned. I don't think she would've attacked Louis over it, though, like yeah she attacked Clementine in the cell but Louis? I don't know, but I don't think so just because it's Louis and he'd be a mess about it anyway.
Though if he did kill her, it would be a neat parallel to draw... y'know, because Louis forgave AJ for killing Marlon even though he was pissed and heartbroken, and Violet was annoyed with him the entire time... but could she ever forgive Louis for killing Minerva? Y'know? We already have a similar parallel with AJ shooting Tenn, but still.
If Clementine killed Minerva in that moment, though, then I could see Violet attacking her since in her eyes, Clem proved her right.
So yeah, I get why they added the Dorian kill to his route. It adds another compelling element to Louis as a character, but we also need Minerva alive for episode 4; Louis can't kill her, he can't miss, and he's not going to stay with her because we need Violet to stay on the boat and him to be on shore for all routes.
#asks#twdg louis#twdg minerva#twdg clementine#twdg violet#twdg marlon#twdg tenn#honestly whenever i see someone say louis is the boring option i'm just like '.......that's your opinion but also how can you say that??'#then again i'm sure other people look at me saying violentine just isn't for me and they say the same thing so y'know... i can't talk haha#also time is such a weird thing because i look at the entire cell scene in louis' route and like... i'm not even mad about violet anymore#like yeah i still don't believe she was brainwashed like i'm sorry y'all only believe that because kent said something about it#not because there's all this evidence toward it in game like vi being pissed at clementine makes sense she doesn't need to be brainwashed#for it to work like her being vulnerable and easily manipulated into submission makes perfect sense especially with minerva there#it's like everyone was pissed that she attacked clementine and people needed a way to excuse it so it's not violet's fault when like...#that's literally what makes it interesting like calm down it's okay if violet is pissed and scared and behaves accordingly#also my controversial opinion of the day that i'll hide here in the tags so maybe people won't find it sksksk but#I personally find the concept of vinerva and the doomed tragedy of it more compelling than anything violentine did#like i'll defend violentine and i do believe it's an important and good ship it's just not my personal favorite#anyway but then the whole thing with lilly and minerva is so good and louis screaming FUCK YOU at minerva?? amazing love it so good#i love when the soft character who never chooses violence is so pissed off that all that anger they have boils to the surface and it's raw#like... he's SO mad he's SO furious he's SOOO UPSET like he wasn't even like this when marlon died or anything like he hit his limit#and then shooting dorian through the mouth while an accident is just well done i love it and i love his reaction of mortification#and apologizing and YET he still tries to go with clementine he's trembling and can barely string together a sentence but he wants to go#he wants to help her he wants to save aj THAT is the gut reaction he has after everything that just went down#'louis isn't loyal or good for clem because of the vote' babe tell me you don't understand any nuance of louis' character without telling m#it's fine IT'S FINE you don't have to agree and i just have to remind myself that it's fine not everyone likes louis we're okay#this drives me crazy in the best way like y'know what? i love the cells scene in louis' route all of it even the stuff i used to rant about#even the stuff that used to piss me off now i'm just like 'no wait past cj was dumb she wasn't looking at it this way aaaaaaaa' sksksks#that was my tag ted talk about the cell scene thank you

HI... i love kazumi pov fics & i'm a sucker for timeloops... what're you cooking up boss!
I'M ACTUALLY REALLY GLAD YOU ASKED ABOUT WHAT I'M COOKING!!! I love Kazumi pov fics AND I'm a sucker for timeloops too, so here's a short explanation to some of the things regarding this AU
So it starts off like canon, Mishima gains three votes in the pink room, and as he gained the most votes his collar starts to burn just as expected, his head tilts backwards off his neck, and Kazumi Expires. Except, Mishima has an odd dream where he talks to a certain suspicious looking fellow, suddenly Mishima wakes up again.
Now Mishima's got to find out how to get his student and hopefully everyone else out of the Killing Game somehow, but also has to deal with the loss of certain things he didn't even realize he had to worry about losing, and the possible cost of the Loops and also a certain friendly 'policeman'.
I'm considering making this an ask blog or an actual full fic with multiple chapters if I ever get out of writers block, but I might just keep it as just an AU I post art about sometimes.

I'm gonna start a collection of character questions that actually help me when trying to flesh out a character. These'll be for characters you already have standing out in the open in your head, but who need more development before they get mixed into the fray.
If you want to use this as a questionnaire, always remember that you don't have to answer every question to get to know your character. Even just one or two answers to yourself can be enough.
Character Development Questions
Basic-ish:
Do they have any distinguishing features? (the way they look, the sound of their voice, the way they smell?)
About how old are they?
What's their gender? Sexuality? Are they open or closeted?
What is their ethnicity/cultural identity?
What was their socioeconomic class as a child? And as an adult?
What's their role in the story?
What is their primary Want? Do they need it?
Family and Relationships:
What was their parent/guardian situation growing up?
If they're an adult, what is their relationship with their parent/guardian now?
Do they have siblings? If they're adults, how close are they now?
Do they have children? How old were they when they had their first? Who helped raise them?
What kind of influence are their friends on them?
How easily do they make friends and why?
What traits do they find attractive in a friend?
How do they treat strangers/acquaintances? People they like? People they don't like? Coworkers?
Personality:
One word to describe their general/default mood.
On a scale of 1 to 10, how introverted are they? Extroverted? Pessimistic? Optimistic?
How would they describe not liking a food out loud?
And in prose?
How would they describe not liking a person, out loud and in prose?
What is their favorite place and why?
What is something that stresses them out?
What is something that relaxes them?
What truly scares them?
What is something that would make them happy/excited?
How do they react to physical pain?
How do they cope? (comedy, ranting, art?)
What embarrasses them?
What are they proud of?
What's their biggest strength? Their biggest weakness? (they can be the same thing)
Additional History:
What are their most prominent memories?
Have they ever lost a pet, family member, or friend? How old were they?
Did they move around as a kid?
Did their parent/guardian/community support their interests as a kid? Were they taught to hold themselves to a particular standard or expectation?
More Detailed Personality:
How do they react when forced to do something they don't want to? Could be forced physically or by circumstance.
If money, time, and consequences were no object, what would their perfect day be?
How much time do they spend on their appearance every day? Do they spend more or less money on their appearance then "average"? (don't look it up; it's a vibe check)
Who would they turn to for help? Is it always the same person? On a danger/severity scale of 1 to 10, at what point do they start asking for help? At what point do they stop asking for help? Is this one section or do they flip multiple times as the severity increases? Does this scale change depending on who's around/available?
Just For Funsies:
If they were in a coffee shop AU, would they be the barista, the customer, or the manager?
Do they know any tricks? (juggling, cartwheels, yoyo, dirt bike?)
If they were here with us, what shows/movies/books/games might they like?
What does the inside of their fridge look like? What about their workspace?

Sorry i actually cannot stand character polls because the propaganda being slightly wrong infuriates me and i know im being irrational but let me complain for a sec, i only read one sentence out of many and was already pissed off (i dont want to read the rest sorry this holiday season i want rest and peace of mind). Eichi Tenshouin a nepo baby? You dont know what the phrase means. He's a rich comglomerate heir, not a nepo baby, his family have never been idols. Hokuto Hidaka is the most obvious nepo baby of the series if you wanna talk about it.

How do you think Charles would’ve gotten on with Henry, Trapper, and Frank?
i love charles ( even though i never talk about him on here , he will be talked about extensively when i get past the frank episodes of my rewatch TRUST ) so HERE WE GO
— like most everyone else , charles has little patience with frank . while i have the tendency to doubt he’d be as blatantly insulting to frank as hawkeye and trapper are , he certainly has his fill of backhanded and passive aggressive remarks towards him ( most of which go over frank’s head ) . objectively funnier is that when charles initially shows up , frank thinks that he finally has an ally against hawktrap . this isn’t true . one can catch him vehemently trying not to laugh at the stupid pranks that hawkeye and trapper pull on him , even though he knows that if they ever did see him laughing at the outcomes of said pranks that hawkeye and trapper would never let him hear the end of it . however , despite charles’ obvious distaste for frank , frank never really catches on . he’s always like , ok see you around buddy ! he definitely wants to be the other version of hawkeye/trapper with charles so he’s always like ,, following charles around and trying to get his approval 😭 it drives charles absolutely insane .
— a lot of people on here say that charles and trapper would absolutely hate each other and i just don’t think that’s completely true . yes , charles would loathe the information that he hails from the same place as trapper , considering that trapper is even worse than hawkeye when it comes to childish antics . i think , at least in trapper’s mind , that charles would fall into the category of the frank burns variety . so there isn’t a lot of love lost between them , at least initially . but here’s the thing . i do sincerely believe they’d have this begrudging admiration for one another . because as stubborn as both charles and trapper are , as much as they don’t really care for people with personalities as different as theirs , they know damn talented surgeons when they see them . they put their differences aside in that aspect . also , one time , when trapper is really drunk and he , hawkeye , and charles are hanging out in the swamp , he mentions this place in boston while reminiscing and charles is sort of surprised because he doesn’t imagine someone like trapper going to one of his old hangouts , and he’s like “ you’re familiar with [ insert place here ] ? “ and trapper says something along the lines of what doctor in boston isn’t familiar with insert place here . and then charles asks him about a different place and hawkeye is watching , for once sort of speechless because pigs are flying , trapper and charles are having a conversation and laughing and if there are insults being thrown around they’re taking them jokingly . nothing after that night changes dramatically , trapper is still trapper and charles is still charles . it’s not like they become best friends or anything , but there’s a new sort of understanding between them . they’re a step above acquaintances . friends in the very , very loose definition of the word .
— first of all i think charles and henry onscreen together would have been fucking hilarious . all i can imagine is the camera cutting to charles rolling his eyes whenever henry makes one of his jokes LMFOA . but i also don’t think charles’ habit of snarky , posh remarks would fly with henry at all . we already see him get annoyed with frank and margaret and , albeit more rarely , he even gets snappy with hawkeye and trapper when they’re being smartasses . so i don’t think henry would take too kindly to charles’ remarks and let them slide as often as potter does . but you know ? in a way , i think charles would more or less have to respect that he holds his ground with not only him , but hawktrap and frank and margaret too . but i don’t think henry would hate charles , either . i can imagine them sitting next to one another in the dining hall and henry laughing when charles rebuts some insult hawkeye/trapper makes towards him and charles letting a small smile slip upon making henry cackle . i can imagine charles walking into henry’s office while henry’s hanging up new drawings from his kids and henry grinning while charles examines them and calls them ‘ remarkable ‘ . i can imagine henry stopping by the swamp looking for hawktrap and at least trying to like the records charles has on . see , henry had this habit of at least trying to understand people , like them or not and i think that it would be no different for charles . lastly i think hen is a lot the same way with charles that he is with hawkeye in the sense that he talks to him . whenever hawkeye is upset about something , henry goes out of his way to try and figure out what’s going on and tell him maybe not what he wants to hear but what he needs to hear . and i definitely think he would do the same thing with charles . i’m really sad that we never got to see them onscreen together because i feel like they definitely would have been quite the duo 😭

i generally like characters in fire emblem’s flirty womanizer trope decently enough but im really glad that when they took inigo over to fates they dialed back on that aspect of his character because i think it couldve been so easy to fall into that thing intsys loves to do where they hammer in a certain trope for comedy’s sake (which they did to him in awakening. which was funny! but past his pc supports it was mostly j lmao what a goofer!!) but instead of that they took the time to lay out a good foundation for his fates arc in the dlc and chose to focus more on his anxieties, his morals, and his growth in maturity to really make his progression from silly little guy to man going through an identity crisis really satisfying while still keeping his flirty persona, though toned down, there to keep him consistent. and yeah hes my fav so i have a lot of bias towards him but i do really think that hes one of fire emblem’s best written characters. hes a great example of trope subversion in fire emblem that i dont think people give him enough credit for (he does it better than sylvain btw sorry!). ik theres quite a few games with timeskips/sequels that show growth like that but with the addition of having traveled through literal time and space, no matter how wonky the concept sounds, gives him a unique perspective and opportunity for self reflection that fates does an incredibly job of letting him explore and i simply think its one of the best choices intsys has made

rindou!! i have a selfship comm for him coming soon >:) & also a lil smut drabble for him that i need to edit <33
but i loved him as soon as he popped up in the anime bc he was so silly ??? like what r u doing u goof he looks so confused in these screenies i have of him!! i was giggling every time he popped up in the anime / manga 🥺 and he’s got lil fangs and he’s into lifting ??! i saw this thing where his mind heard ‘train together’ and he jumped straight to ‘oh bench press competition ?’ (pic below!!)
but hmm i don’t think i have any other favorites rn tbh!! i like mikey a lot but i feel like his character is so complex that i can’t like him until i understand him better ?? i would never write for him bc i don’t wanna butcher his character. but also when i met wakasa in the manga, i liked him too !! except ive only seen like a couple panels of him so i dont have a good grasp on his character either he’s just sooooo insanely pretty 😭

its really important to me that max remains as distinct from mighty as possible because i don't want to downplay how mighty's sacrifice really resonated with me as someone who struggles with ideation, but it's also really important to me that max still cherishes the memories of an identity that he no longer considers himself because he doesn't want to let them be forgotten. that's how he's able to be re-integrated into the family - shiro understands that they aren't the same but he also doesn't want max to have to find himself all alone, so he thinks of max as an entirely different son. ivory is probably the most hesitant to this really abrupt change, because he has the least amount of context (shirobon has already gone through the arc of acceptance in realizing that mighty is dead and max is not him) but eventually everyone is able to come to an understanding :)
