OC time! Prolly a bit early considering I made this tumblr alive again like a week ago but yk what i dont care.

Meet my PJ Masks OC Kitsu! To be honest, she was my first OC ever made… back then I was still trying to find a nice art style and I was too shy to make OCs. But yeah I saw other people making OCs so i was like “yo why not try it myself!”, so i made her back in 2017? 2018? Somewhere during season 3 of the show. She has gotten so many redesigns, but i’m pretty chill with this one for now :]

Her personality:

She is cunning and mischievous, always trying to find new ways of entertaining herself. She’s sharp-witted and a quick thinker, but can make very stupid decisions sometimes, especially when she’s full of herself. She normally can’t take criticism and will most likely take it as a joke, if not insult you back. She does love to tease people, trying to push them to their limits for the soul purpose of entertainment. She rarely takes anybody seriously, which is why she sees herself as higher than others. But below that, she’s very loyal and does care for the people she trusts the most.

She doesn’t know what her purpose is in this world, so she tries to just make the best of her experience by doing anything she wants. And the best way to do that is by causing conflict between everyone else. She’s not on anyone’s side really,, She will change sides depending on how fun it’ll be for her. Which does make her quite lonely at times. girly just needs some friends 😭😭💔

So her powers:

Kitsu has shape shifting powers, can take the form of anyone and anything she wants, but won’t inherit the powers of the one who’s trying to mimic. She can hold the form for as long as she likes. Her second power is Agility. She’s quite fast, can climb easily and dodge with no problem.

Now her backstory:

It’s pretty hard to talk about her backstory, because it’s very similar to munki-gu. Again, she was created wayy before him and it just so happened that the writers came up with the same idea. So I was kinda forced to change it 🥲

So in her verse, before mystery mountain was a floating island above the city, it was a part of a different universe. The mountain was on a land, where there was a village protected by 4 mountains, all on different sides of the land. The Dragon mountain of the East, the Vermilion Bird mountain of the South, the White Tiger mountain of the West and the Turtle mountain of the North(yes this is a reference to the four symbols, look it up). In the middle of these mountains was a town, which was protected by these mountains. An Yu lived on the dragon mountain. Since she was born of the “dragon blood”, she would be trained to become the protector of the mountain. (yes i have made designs for the other protectors too >:3)

There were loads of magical creatures living amongst the humans, most of which were harmful to them. So An Yu’s ancestors, having so much power and control, decided it would be best to imprison the creatures to prevent further harm. (hence why Munki-gu was imprisoned too) Kitsune’s were a big harm to society however, that their magical box prisons weren’t enough, considering they could shapeshift. So they decided to exterminate them all. An Yu witnessing all of it, decided to secretly save just one (that being Kitsu).

Years later, there was a war between the mountain guardians and ninjas, who wanted to steal their powers (I thought Night ninja and his ninjalinos could be descendants of them). It ended up in the universe getting completely destroyed, with An Yu having to sacrifice herself to save her mountain, getting imprisoned in the gong as a result. An Yu, after getting rescued, still held the burden of her ancestors imprisoning Kitsu’s species, so ashamed of their past actions, that she never tried to set Kitsu free. She was too scared to confront her, since she thought her and other magical creatures would rise against her and blame her for everything.

A few days after the PJ Masks rescue An Yu in the show, one day, they decide to give her a visit. While An Yu was showing the PJs around the pagoda, Catboy becomes a bit too curious and finds the box where Kitsu was imprisoned, accidentally letting her out in the process. When Kitsu was set free, she needed to give herself a new physical form, so she chose to mimic the first person to let her out, that being Catboy. But since she can only mimic the physical appearance of someone and not their powers, her “PJ Mask” suit didn’t include an animal symbol on her chest. Her suit can still light up when using her own powers though. Finally let out, she fled into the city, until she was ready to start causing mischief. After that, An Yu forbid the PJs from entering the mountain for a while, but still blaming herself for letting her guard down and letting Kitsu free.

so that’s what I have so far, the rest will be decided with time since the show is episodic annd literally anything can happen xd

in all honesty, the arataki gang pushed her under the mistletoe with you while you were just eating a nice christmas snack and. you weren’t aware of being under it too. head empty just food type beat.

shinobu immediately knew what was going on after she saw the mistletoe. as she was gonna turn around and fist fight the gang, they’ve ran away and hid behind something. their heads were slightly peeking out of them and itto’s head stood out the most

shinobu groaned, pinching the bridge of her nose, and then heard distant cheering from the back, clearly from her gang.

when you swallowed your last bite, you didn’t notice shinobu until now

“oh, hey shinobu! i just finished my snack. what are you doing here?”

she opened her eyes and released her hand off of her nose and pointed above. you followed what she was pointing at and saw the obvious-looking mistletoe hanging above you both before reverting your attention back to her.

“before you say anything, my gang brought us into this mess. so for that, i apologize on their behalf.”

“oh no worries, they always get into some sort of trouble, so i don’t blame you.”

shinobu looked from the corner of her eye and saw her gang whispering the words: ‘go for it!’ ‘do it!’ ‘kiss them!!’

she sighed and then stood up straight, looking directly into your eyes. “well, now that we’re here, i think we should entertain them for a bit. if you’re okay with it of course.”

you turned your head into the direction she was previously looking at and saw her gang. they kept nodding vigorously and made gestures for you to turn back around.

you laughed a bit at them, and you turned back to shinobu. she nodded, you nodded, and then she made her move. shinobu removed her mask to shield her gang from seeing your kiss with her.

the arataki jumped from their spots to cheer and scream for their deputy leader. while a bunch of chaos was happening, that’s all but blind noise. because you’re melting in the kiss.

kazuha is known to be good with words, but through his current actions, they spoke louder than his flowery words.

Hi I’m new to tumblr so I’m not sure how you normally post on here but I wanted to try posting some sketches of earth from tsams! I’m not the best with anatomy so I won’t lie I did trace over some photos (REAL PHOTOS NOT ART) I found on Pinterest and modified the proportions to fit my design, but I’m trying to improve lol. For now I just rlly wanted to flesh out my design for earth which I couldn’t do while my anatomy looked like crap 😭 all the full body ones I used references for but the one in the right corner was all me so I’ve got that to my name at least 💪 I’ll include my “reference” pictures as well :> and below the pics is an explanation of the design because I love to gush about this kind of thing. Fair warning, it’s pretty long LMAO

Hehe now it’s time for me to gush about my lil design 😈

So the first major difference you probably noticed (aside from body shape) is the very fluffy clothing I have her in. The leg warmers and… fingerless gloves? Leg warmers that she put on her arms? Idk what the arm ones are called but yk what I’m talking about lol. When I first noticed earths little rainbow headband my brain immediately said “80’s workout videos”. The big hair, the rainbow headband, it just immediately jumped ot at me and stuck. I decided to give her oversized leg warmers in that same rainbow pattern because it made me sad that her actual design doesn’t have the rainbow anywhere else. It’s funky and I like it what can I say.

Next I decided I really wanted her to wear thigh-highs. I personally love thigh-highs and also it gave me an excuse not to think about her leg mechanics. I tend to draw Sun and Moon like ball joint dolls, but it gets a lil funky to draw when they are bending their limbs so having a fluffy excuse to hide them was ideal lol. I decided to go with the bold choice of putting thigh highs and leg warmers on her, which I don’t regret even tho it probably seems like a lot. I might change a few things about her later down the line since these were just basic sketches so don’t worry if you hate it.

I gave her shorts because a skirt just didn’t feel right for her. I feel like a daycare attendant would be very active, even if earth tends to sit with the quieter kids, and a skirt would be very awkward to climb around in. I figured shorts would be good. I drew them like jean shorts since that was the original intention but they could be cloth rather than denim gimme time to think about it 💀

I had a lot of trouble decided whether the thingies on her shoulders were stand-alone or like pieces of hair she keeps up front (probably attached cuz she’s a robot) I decided on making them attached to the bigger floor of hair cuz I thought it looked cutest on the pic with her shoulders up and in front of her face lol.

Onto her chest plate thing, I was considering making it an actual shirt but decided against it. I wanted her to have a crop top bc I love crop tops so I just made it so her chest area was painted like a shirt, and then her middle area was back to her “skin” color, so it’s almost like a crop top but not really…?

Last but not least is her face, I also made that her “skin” color and just put the blue and green as her cheeks! I thought it looked cutest that way. She also has heterochromia cuz when a character has two main colors I really enjoy putting them on opposite sides as often as possible haha. So her green cheek has her blue eye and her blue cheek has her green eye. I know her original model has two blue eyes but this was what I went with.

Anyways that was super long and I’m super nervous about posting this so I’m just gonna hit post and if I find a typo or decide my lil explanation was 4 paragraphs too many I’ll fix it later. Have a nice day whoever is still reading this! :>

It’s three in the morning when the baby crying wakes him up. He squints, reads his alarm clock, and groans. He glances over at you and Patrick, completely knocked out by exhaustion. He doesn’t want to bother you, doesn’t want you to have to wake up and go through the motions again. So he gets up and slips into the baby’s room.

She eases into his arms, quickly growing soothed in a comforting pair of arms, and he hushes her softly. He hasn’t been alone with her, not much. Just a sort of double-down instinct after you had suggested he get called dad by her too. It wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world, but it just makes him feel like a fraud. He spends a lot of time with you and Art feeling like he’s one wrong move from being out on his own. He didn’t want a kid relying on him when he knew he’d eventually fuck everything up.

“You just had a bad dream, huh?” Patrick coos softly. He kisses the baby’s soft, bald-ish head, takes a deep breath. He didn’t really get why you and Art were always smelling her hair, but he understands then. “Your dad used to have bad dreams too. Really bad dreams, but I was always there. I’ll be there for you too, alright? For anything you’ll ever need. No matter what.”

He settles into the plush rocking chair in the corner, holds her against his chest and rubs her back. Her eyes close, she nuzzles against him. She’s so beautiful. Usually, all babies look the same to him, but he can see you so clearly in her mouth, her eyes. And Art in her ears and nose. “You’re really lucky,” he says softly. He presses a kiss to her forehead. “You have such good parents, they’re really exhausted right now because you never sleep, but they’re doing so good, huh?”

She falls asleep in his arms, and he decides he’s never going to leave the chair. He kisses the top of her head and lets his lips twitch in a achy sort of smile. “We love you, kid.”

In the morning, once he’s placed her back in the crib and returns to bed, you and Art hold him a little closer.

APRIL UPDATE

WE’RE BACK! Hi ya’ll and welcome back to my monthly updates on “The Jayce Myles Comics”! This month’s update is pretty interesting, so it’ll be swag to read this time:

The meh news I will say is that the progress has been slow due to art block and side projects, but the good news is that the plot is starting to finally come together. I’ve been sitting down to write out the plot for upcoming chapters, inserting symbolism, creating concept art and dialogue for the future! So that’s to say that the story’s plot is officially progressing quite well and I’m very happy with it (that’s what’s keeping me sane while the art is hella tedious cuz I’m a one man team with the art.

I’m thinking about doing character turn arounds, references, and expression sheets in order for me to keep track of my character as well; as a comic artist, I wanna be able to keep my quality great when I post these comics and also be sure to draw everything accurately yk? So that’s gonna be a work in progress soon, only reference sheets will be public and nothing else—I might do something in the future where I can set up a Patreon so you can help fund for the project and also get bonus content like the expression sheets and turn arounds, but that’s future Jae’s problem lmao.

And lastly, the biggest news. Drum roll please~ 🥁🥁🥁

SURPRISE! A short comic is coming out this May! Mark your calendars, because on May 23rd, I will be releasing a short Lavelatte comic for my birthday (on the same day)! I’m super excited because it’s officially finished and it’s just ready to be posted, I’m also just hella proud of myself for getting it done but also having fun with it, I hope you all will tune in and give it a read once it posts. It’s my gift to you guys for being super patient with this project and also to feed my delusions as a Donnie simp.

OKAY SO. shading, thing i am apparently accidentally really good at. it’s probably the thing i’ve gotten compliments on the most over the years which is funny because it’s probably the thing i’m Least confident that i can do well. therefore i can’t really give a tutorial but i can give a bunch of disjointed notes

(shown above is my Default Shading, further examples of different lighting below)

everything else under the cut or this is gonna be a mile long

i like using blue for shading, yellow/orange for lighting but generally you can just make them opposite/complimentary colours to each other and that’ll work. cool shadows, warm light or warm shadows, cool light. you get it. that’s a general rule there’s probably exceptions. i will say i hate using purple for shadows but that’s a personal preference (as is every colour i use being so saturated lol)

the orange around the edges is supposed to be subsurface scattering on skin but i put it on all the edges because i like how it looks 👍

yes there’s two different bounce lights. idk why i do this. i also just think it looks nice. i guess the one on the shading layer is more for form and the one on the lighting layer is more for the yk. lighting? anyways the first one is just a lighter version of the shading colour the second one is darker and slightly hue shifted (depending on the lighting scenario — it can be brighter if the situation calls for it)

the reason i don’t just shade around the edges is because it can make things look very flat which is the opposite of what you want when shading. sometimes it can just go on the edges in some specific scenarios but i like my shadows Chunky. basically having it go over the form instead of just along it can help show that form more

top left - night time | top right - bisexual? | bottom left - spotlight i guess? | bottom right - default/daylight again, just wanted to show a shape example

something i’ll also do a lot is have a separate multiply layer that’s just one colour and i’ll throw that over the whole thing to get the base colours correct for the lighting scenario. some people do it by eye but i am lazy so i cheat 👍 often it’ll be the same as the more detailed shadow colour but as with the top right example sometimes it’s different

shadows are either on multiply or linear burn, lights are either on add (glow) or glow dodge. depends on what looks best. same with opacity, i don’t have any real rules there

i also LOVE harsh lighting but that’s just a me thing. UMMM i can’t think of anything else to say

so next is ANATOMY okay this is also something i’m not super confident with lol but i can give some more disjointed notes by just redlining my own sketches lol

the uuuh “bottom of boobs is 2/3 down the ribs” isn’t technically correct? if ur drawing someone with big boobs and no bra on they’re probably gonna go lower but that’s kinda. where they come out from i guess. i also don’t think the “ribs” i draw are technically accurate but it works for a reference point

arms are a diamond (the shoulder.. muscle.. thing… idk what it’s called) and then some Tapered Tubes idk they’re not super complicated. if you wanna get more into it go google buff people and trace/redline their arms that’s how i learnt orz and uuuh i kinda also have the taking up 2/3 of the ribs but a bit Above. the way i’ve worded that makes no goddamn sense i’m bad at explaining this

ANYWAYS yeah bodies are just shapes if you want ppl to look unique just squash or stretch out the shapes 👍 and also learn actual anatomy stuff that always helps. my final message: learn to draw fat people it is no more difficult than drawing thin people

OUTFITS i love outfits. i have a pinterest board where a lot of my inspo comes from and it’s a section within a bigger board so ig i’m just giving you my whole inspo board. here (it’s the one called character fashion) (i do not condone art being reposted on pinterest without artists permission just ignore how much i have saved)

pinterest in general is good for outfit design stuff as long as you know where/how to look. u could also try fashion blogs and stuff

ummm a lot of stuff does just come from my own head tho, like based on clothes i like or vaguely inspired by stuff i’ve seen before. if you look through the board you can also see that like i rarely ever copy stuff directly i kinda just use whatever stuff i find as a base to work from. just find stuff you like and go from there i guess, i sometimes like picking a specific subculture or fashion style for a character and seeing what i can make from that (like missa is emo/scene, slime is like some kinda ravecore thing?? idk)

this is something i do on Most drawings to the point i have an auto action set up for it. duplicate the entire drawing (on csp the easiest way is to just merge visible to new layer), gaussian blur to like ? idk i think it’s 40% or something? i don’t remember, set that layer to soft light and lower the opacity

OH actually if u mean the colour jitter stuff on the . colours. that’s not a filter i was just using a brush with slight hue jitter on i was Experimenting

Ooooo amazing question!! Although a very long one to answer haha…

I’m honestly not too sure how to sort this so I’ll just put the stuff you mentioned here rather than a whole jumble of tips

ANATOMY

yeah I’ll be straight up this still isn’t my strongest point soooo- I can only suggest looking at as many references as you can, try to keep bodily proportions the same in different sketches of the same character to get a more realistic look at ‘em

I usually keep a base shape of a human head in mind when applying it to different species

Of course this rule doesn’t always need to apply

POSING

just added this here for funsies, POSING. You really want to have a fluid pose when creating a piece, the best way to do this is by using the line of action. The line of action is essentially the guideline for how your drawing is going to flow, you can find a ton of resources online if you wanna dig deeper into that topic. I also use Line-Of-Action.com to find references, pretty good site.

This is basically how I do most of my sketches

CHARACTER DESIGN

Now this is the one that got me hella excited- this has to be my favorite thing to do when making a new story. I’ll just use Allen for my example.

For every character I make I want there to be a good sense of personality in their design, especially the face. You need to be able to tell what type of personality a character has by just looking at them wether it be from expression, clothing choice, body language, etc… The more exaggerated/expressive the design is, the better

I definitely put a lot of emphasis on his eyes when designing him, he is an owl after all and I wanted to be able to convey that. I also liked having the irony of also having his eyes usually be slits/half closed to further present a sort of “oh I’m totally not evil haha” look, but also being able to have the be super huge when needed to convey more emotion. His design is based both on Asa Sweet from Lackadaisy and Stolas from helluva boss (more so Asa). It’s good to find inspiration for characters but just remember to make sure they aren’t a carbon copy yk, that’d be mean. He has definitely changed over the years I mean just-

“It is done!”

Your voice from down the hall sounds too excited, too upbeat, Denji thinks, for the situation at hand. Because the finished product you’re referring to is not something to be celebrated like some kind of baked good or art piece, but melted wax. Meant for none other than Denji’s hairy legs :(

You watch him scrub his palms in his eyes like he’s exhausted when you walk in the room with your wax jar, or maybe like he hopes that he’s dreaming, before whining a little when a container of glossy blue liquid is set in front of him.

“That stuff looks like it doesn’t belong near the human body. D’ya know for sure it’s not radioactive or something?”

“Of course it isn’t! People do this all the time.”

Denji releases the type of sigh that sounds like it comes from his soul, before he’s rolling up his basketball shorts and letting his back thud against the floor, face in hands.

“Geez Denji. I’m certain it won’t hurt as bad as you think it will.”

He shakes his head before shooting you a look that pleads mercy—the kind you think a patient might give their surgeon before going under. You fight back a laugh.

“I don’t believe you. But the pain’s whatever--like, T’s not even the biggest problem. I’m thinking about after—my legs are gonna look all dainty and smooth for a month!”

You give him a frown and open your mouth to cut him off but then he sits up like he just thought of something.

“‘N what if someone notices that chainsaw man’s legs have no hair?! What’ll that say about him? ‘The nation’s hero succumbs to unhealthy beauty standards’ ugh could you imagine that headline?”

You can only stare at him for a bit, unsure if laughing at his thought process would be too mean. You manage to fight back your giggle with a cough before resting a gentle hand on his shoulder.

“Baby. Nobodies gonna think you’re upholding toxic beauty standards, I promise. Let’s just get this over with, you’ll be fine.”

He nods and slowly lays back down, gripping onto the carpet beneath him like a lifeline.

You smooth a popsicle stick of hot wax over his thigh before he can protest further, and he flinches but otherwise remains complaintless. You notice his face looks a bit pale when you place the wax paper.

“Alright, on three.”

He whimpers.

“One. Two—“ you tear the strip with all your might before you can get to three.

Denji yelps louder than you’ve heard him since you scared him hiding in the closet on Halloween. Then he pants like he just ran a marathon, sitting up to survey the damage.

“Fuuuuck. Wheeew. That wasn’t so bad. Oh god I’m so red though! why’m I so red?”

“Your skin’s just a little irritated! It’s fine, look!”

You show him the strip of now-hairy wax and he frowns when he sees.

“This is. What’s the word? This is barbaric.”

You giggle and start mixing up the container with a fresh popsicle stick.

BABY I missed this but AUUGH not the college apps I’m so sorry to hear they’ve been stressful and I hope you figured out a plan that works for u!! I wish the act of attaining schooling wasn’t so unnecessarily tough >:( , I prommy it’ll all work out in the end. As for me honestly I’ve been… good :O !! Idk winter was like rlly hard this year so summer has been unbelievably refreshing. I remain terminally busy balancing work and social life and family stuff etc but Im lowkey stable rn so. Anyways It was kinda cool coming back to writing some Denji stuff after so long… I STILL LOVE HIM SO BAD UGH I LOVE HIM FOREVER. My thing w him is that he like. Deserves my loyalty yk! Like no character deserves loyal fans as much as that guy imo so I’m simply never going to stop loving him even though I get new fixations..

hey i don’t mean to be an asshole or anything, but i noticed something about your fics. please keep in mind that i’ve enjoyed everything you’ve written on this blog. they’re wonderfully written, incredibly inspired, and all around a pleasure to indulge in. however, you might want to focus on comma placement.

comma misplacement can be distractive from the subject or message of the sentence. i noticed you sometimes break up clauses that don’t need to be broken up or could be replaced by a period entirely. it’s nothing terrible nor any reason to doubt your abilities. you are a talented writer regardless. maybe just take heed of that the next time you write. i wanted to let you know for future reference and because i think it’d help you grow :)

Ahh ok ty for this actually I’m not the best at like grammar so I try my best. Apologies for making my work hard to read sometimes. Not to make YOU feel bad but i am autistic and have adhd, and remember being in my language arts class in elementary school (yk where you learn the basic stuff like that) and when i was in those classes i just did not have the attention span for it. So when i went to middle school and above i had to play some serious catch up (seriously I didn’t even know what consonants were and one of my best friends at the time harped on me horribly for it ) with that and i think the real problem there is no one really cared to properly teach me that kind of stuff so most of what i do know is the bit ive managed to retain in those classes.

Granted I’m sure if I really super tried I could’ve focused or asked for help in those areas but at the time I was like it’s whatever I’ll figure it out. I’d like to think for the most part I have but I’m happy to keep learning how I can improve my writing thank you for this note I really appreciate it!

the show went alright. had a bunch of people go “THOSE SCREAMS WERE FUCKING GNARLYYYY” so i’d say it was mostly successful.

the metal show was first, and despite some technical difficulties and my guitarist almost having a goddamn breakdown, we fucking killed it.

the punk one??? not so much. our new guitarist fucking sucks. he’s a great guy, and he’s really good about learning riffs well and quickly, but he can’t play smoothly or in time at ALL. and a keyboardist applied and we thought we scared her off but she came back so we were just like. okay. we have someone who plays KEYS in a PUNK BAND now. she earned that shit but i really do feel bad. i kinda forgot a lot of the last song we played but hey man, as a bassist? wasn’t that obvious compared to how bad the guitar sounded.

i’m not dogging on him or anything, i always help him with his amp at practice and we stand next to each other on stage. he’s a solid kid. does martial arts and shit like that. if our drummer doesn’t jump his bones and then WHOOPS nasty breakup!! we should be fine yk? we just gotta let him get used to it i guess.

god i miss my favorite kiddo SO fucking much. i miss having someone to unlock pvp twice a week at practice. i miss having a tiny little genius around who doesn’t know shit about music theory so none of the riffs she wrote made ANY fucking sense but they always sounded super fuckin metal. like woah minor pentatonic, walk down, PHRYGIAN?? you’re a weird little critter.

twas rad. cried at the end. simon is my new meow meow. my friend was right, i am a lot like holga. i got my mom to watch it with me and she loved it despite not ever being able to keep up with my crash courses on dnd. there were so many bits of lore and different creatures and references that made me squirm autistically with the need to say “OH MY GOD OKAY SO THE THING ABOUT THAT IS—“ which i resisted with the valor of a thousand men.

it was funny, light hearted, sincere, anti capitalist, and not at all as bad as i thought it might be. it had that princess bride type of quip and situational humor, with lotr world building, which is the best i hoped for. there were compelling characters i want more of. doric didn’t get enough screen time, but i know she has a prequel book that i’ll probably read instead. i liked the chaotic good alignment of the main characters. they stole from the rich and did no harm, and i really do believe in that.

the villains were lawful evil, the heroes were chaotic good. that’s the shit i like to see. lawful evil is a very real alignment with people in power, and i’d say that chaotic good is the most optimistic alignment. although they have no hope in the law, they put others before themselves and do what it takes to make things better. it’s seen as wild, but i think it’s very loving and passionate.
