the fandom ask: either tmnt 2003 or mario (cause i've seen you reblog luigi (the king) and i am curious)
Oh man, this is going to be a hard one to choose! I think I'll do TMNT 2003 because it's on the brain right now. Keep in mind that I haven't watched Fast Forward or whatever tf season 7 is called (I think it's Back to the Sewers??). Believe me, I tried... I don't like it.
The first character I ever fell in love with: April in her biker outfit.
My ultimate favorite character: Michelangelo. It's always going to be him. Donnie is a very close second (love their dynamic).
Prettiest character: Karai and April.
My most hated character: It's easily The Ancient One. That guy is just a bundle of offensive stereotypes, good god. I also really don't like Utrom Shredder very much.
My OTP: April/Casey! I love these two in this show.
My NOTP: I really don't like Raph/Joy wtf was going on with those two lmao. I also don't think that Leo/Karai was meant to be read as romantic at all, I think they had a tragic friendship. Not sure where people got that from (other than them being a guy and a girl). I'm just grateful that romance wasn't a huge thing in 2003 save for April/Casey.
Favorite episode: This is a really tough one for me because there are so many episodes I love from this show. I adored all the famous episodes that everyone talks about, such as Good Genes, Same As It Never Was, Insane in the Membrane, etc. So I'll say The Darkness Within because I loved the horror in that episode. Shoutout to "Grudge Match" and "The Christmas Aliens."
Saddest death: Oh man, that monster Bishop made where it turned out he used to be a human with a wife and family. Also, pretty much everything that happens to Baxter Stockman. He doesn't die, but his fate is even worse than death.
Favorite season: Seasons 2-4 is where the show is at its strongest. I think it's a tie between seasons 2 and 3.
Least favorite season: Season 5. I still enjoyed myself, but oh boy, does the quality tank for this season.
Character that everyone else in this fandom loves, but I hate: The Ancient One. Once again, this guy's portrayal is so racist, why does nobody talk about this???
My 'you're a piece of trash, but you're still a fave' fave: Bishop. He's probably my all-time favorite TMNT villain. I love this guy, what a fantastic villain.
My 'beautiful cinnamon roll who deserves better than this' fave: DONNIE. POOR GUY. He's just a nice dude who takes care of the homeless and tinkers away, stop tormenting him!
My 'they're kind of cute, and I lowkey ship them, but I'm not too invested' ship: Leosagi, which is a controversial one because we don't know Leo or Usagi's canon ages. This is another one I get but I'm not super into it. Most of the time, this ship is fanon, and it kinda feels like people make a huge deal out of this ship because they want a romantic relationship to ship. I don't really get that appeal when it comes to TMNT but to each their own.
You may have noticed that I didn't answer many of the ship questions and that's because TMNT 2003 is one of my gen fandoms. I love the familial relationships and friendships in this show, but there aren't many ships I'm super into. I love watching TMNT to see a bunch of mutant dudes become a dysfunctional and sweet family. <3

——
It was 7:55 p.m., nearly three hours past the time Harry had promised to be home. His plate of food sat cold on the countertop. It had been his to make, but when you heard that he was staying late at the restaurant, you threw a quick meal together that was subpar by everyone's standards.
Truthfully, you were livid. Harry's paid paternity leave expired a week ago, and he was already breaking promises. I will always be home for dinner, he had vowed when you began to dread the day he put his chef coat back on and left you to parent alone. Remarkably, he had upheld it thus far. You just didn't think he'd let it collapse so soon.
You stewed over it in bed while trying—and failing—to put your four-month-old daughter down to sleep. It was the first time you had to do it by yourself, and to say it was shaping up to be a colossal catastrophe was an understatement. You didn't possess Harry's deep, soothing voice that was practically a lullaby of its own, nor did you possess his natural, rhythmic hip sway while rocking her to sleep. So, yes, there was a tiny kernel of resentment building pressure inside of you because of your shortcomings as a parent, and it would explode any second now. Because missing dinner was one thing, but missing the baby's bedtime? Outrageous.
Fussy cries rattled around the room as her body squirmed in the bedside bassinet. The probability of you joining in on her meltdown was soaring higher as the sky darkened. Nothing you were doing was successful in calming her conniption—not nursing, ocean air, white noise, or even her trusty pacifier could settle those high-pitched wails that simultaneously broke your heart and frazzled your nervous system beyond its regular state. You were determined to remedy the situation as a perfectly capable individual, but in your heart of hearts, you knew that sometimes you weren't the needed parent. Tonight, Harry was the desired nurturer. And he wasn't here.
With clammy palms, you surrendered your pride and unlocked your phone to call Harry. The last text he had sent was at 4:37. It read: Won't be home until late tonight. Don't know what time. I'm sorry. Out of frustration, you had left him with no response.
The ringing tone droned, and you held no hope that he'd answer. Realistically, there was no open opportunity to take a phone call in a fast-paced restaurant kitchen. The cogs needed to be moving at all times—otherwise, the wheel would splinter. You had accepted it years ago.
When you first started dating Harry, it was strenuous finding time for each other. On a lucky day, you'd talk to him during his lunch break. Weekends had bestowed the moments that made the relationship flourish. It should have gotten more manageable after all these years, but as a new mother, it wasn't something you could handle like a champ anymore.
Therein lay the problem: You had become too comfortable with having Harry home for twelve weeks. Calibrating to the changes that parenthood presented was much easier with a dedicated husband ready to face them with you. It had been a luxury to be a team from sunrise to sunset and every nocturnal hour that you both had spent devoid of energy. Your steadfast lover.
"Hello?"
You jolted, surprised to hear Harry's voice. It caused relief and rage to clash within you—not a pleasurable combination. "How much longer are you working?"
His sigh was smothered by scattered voices speaking in the background and kitchenware clanging noisily. "I don't know. We're finishing the dinner rush, and there's still loads of cleaning to do. Trust me, I've been trying to make an exit for the past two hours, but the orders keep coming."
"I need you here, Harry," you said shakily. "I can't do this by myself."
"Do what by yourself? What's goin' on?"
Rage won the internal battle and staked its claim over your sensibility. "Seriously? I have a baby that won't stop crying, a husband that has been missing in action for the past three hours, and I'm on the verge of a mental breakdown."
"You never texted me back," Harry said, sounding like his focus was split half on the conversation and half on whatever task he was doing. "Have you tried walking her around outside? Maybe some fresh air will help."
You stood and started pacing around the room. "I tried that. I need your help. She wants nothing to do with me."
"Honey, I... I can't right now. I have to be here."
"Please," you begged, panic crawling up your throat. Could he even hear the baby crying on your end? How could he possibly understand your crisis through a muddled phone call? "I'm telling you I need you now."
"And I'm telling you I have a kitchen to run," he replied firmly. His tone softened when he added, "If I could leave right now, I would. It's just not viable when it's been this busy."
You stayed silent, chewing on his weak explanation. All your pent-up exasperation was simmering and had nowhere to go, so you infused your next words with it. "You're being neglectful."
"What?" Harry said. You could picture him with that cute little divot between his eyebrows, except the reasoning behind it wasn't so cute this time. "Wait, hold on, hold on. Say that again? Shit, I can't focus." A loud clattering of metal punctuated his rambling.
There was no fight left in you. Numbly, you walked over to the bay window and watched the ocean tide swell under the full moon. "Never mind. Go finish what's clearly more important."
"Listen, it's hard to hear you in here. Can I call you back in... um, I don't know, fifteen minutes?" He didn't seem angry and didn't sense the urgency you were conveying. He just seemed distracted, and it felt like a bruising kick while you were already down.
"Bye, Harry." You hung up, not regretting your stubbornness. His communication during the day had been meager. He should have known to keep you in the loop after three hours of waiting for him to come home. You had hung on by a thread and wondered if this would become the norm. You thought he was done with his old tendencies of being a yes-man.
What mattered to you the most was that Harry knew when to put family first, and tonight, you and your daughter were put on the back burner.
With two tears slipping down your cheeks, you succumbed to the feeling of utter helplessness.
——
Harry unlocked the front door, trying to recall the last time he had come home at nine-thirty at night. Surely months ago, when you were heavily pregnant and couldn't sleep. He had taken you for slow drives around the neighborhood and played with your hair in hopes of lulling you into a deep slumber. Worked like a charm.
God, he knew you were pissed at him. He was in the doghouse for good reason. Usually, you'd greet him at the door, happy to see him. Now, the quiet bounced off the walls uncannily.
He had been barely able to concentrate on anything while in the thick of dinner service. Too many stressors flew around the kitchen like bullets. It had been the absolute worst moment to respond to your panicked phone call. Why had he said yes to staying late? The agreement was to work from seven to five, Tuesday through Friday. He failed you today, and it killed him.
Ever since the baby was born, Harry had turned into a homebody. He loved seeing every room hold signs of his baby girl. Milk bottles in the refrigerator; tiny onesies in the washer; storybooks on the nursery's rocking chair; the tummy time mat on the living room carpet; the foldable bathtub in the kitchen sink (he planned to research if adults could use baby shampoo since the smell was irresistible). He'd gotten so attached to the routine that it came as no surprise—his first week back at work had been hell. He'd messed up several times, struggling to get back in the groove. His hands moved slower, his mind on overload as he caught up to the twelve weeks he missed. Everything there felt foreign. It sparked a realization that nothing came as close to feeling natural as being a dad did.
Harry shook his head to clear the tornado whirling around his brain and turned the kitchen light on. He immediately spotted his plate of dinner waiting for him, a depressing reminder of his broken vow.
An awful feeling sank like a stone in his stomach. This was all wrong. It was supposed to go like this: Harry, ravenous and in dire need of affection, would arrive home at five, the sun still shining. He'd kiss you in the foyer as you passed over his daughter. She'd coo happily, the weight of her in his arms a precious comfort. He'd carry her and entertain her with silly voices and other theatrical dad antics before getting started on cooking dinner. Then the night would slowly progress, and as everyone's eyes grew heavy with sleep, he'd wait until you were done nursing before burping a full-bellied baby and setting her in the bassinet.
And who was to blame for blowing that beautiful sequence to smithereens? This guy.
When Harry reached the hallway, he shivered. Was the window open? There was a chilly draft floating around, and when he peeked his head past the bedroom doorway, his assumptions were proven correct. There you were on the cushioned windowsill seat, the glittering moonlight illuminating your sleeping frame as you held his baby girl against your chest. She was asleep as well, with her limbs tucked all cozily in your motherly embrace. Harry just stood and watched for a minute, the day's stress cascading off his shoulders. Home. This was what remained the most paramount part of his life. He needed to apologize before you formed a grudge.
He didn't want to wake you or the baby, especially considering the overwhelming night you had helmed, so he hopped in the shower to contemplate the best way to handle... whatever had occurred over the phone. Harry knew that the postpartum phase was treating you roughly—your anxiety was a tight string ready to snap at any moment. He hadn't fully grasped the reality of you doing the bedtime routine alone. How hard it probably had been with a baby experiencing major sleep regression. He'd thought you using the word neglectful was harsh, but it was fair.
With a cleansed body and mind, Harry exited the bathroom with a towel tied around his waist. The breeze blowing in from the open window was too brisk for his liking, so he walked over and reached past you to close it. It squeaked, and he winced when you stirred awake. He stalled his movements as you came into consciousness, slowly and with weariness.
How motherhood looked on you was a thing of beauty. Even in the most ordinary moments, you were radiant, emanating warmth and solace. You were this family's guiding light.
Eventually, you swung your legs over the edge of the windowsill seat and stared at him blankly. Guilt struck Harry speechless, and all he could do was sink to his knees and press his face into your shin, like Stephan Sinding's Adoration. "Please forgive me, baby," he murmured, kissing the almond-scented skin there. "I'm so sorry. There's no excuse."
When you remained silent, Harry lifted his face and looked at you. The sight of your expression crumpling and tears welling in your eyes shattered his heart. He got up to sit beside you, pulling you and your daughter into a remorseful hug. "I've made you cry. I'm awful, aren't I?"
You sniffled. "No, you're not. I just don't understand."
"Can I try to explain?" he asked.
You nodded and let your head fall limply on his shoulder. Harry was grateful you weren't shunning him. After pressing a soft kiss to your temple, he said, "You needed me tonight, and I fell short as your husband and as her father." He stroked his baby girl's back, his palm nearly covering the entirety of it. "It was an unexpectedly chaotic day at work, and I... I don't know, it's like I forgot how to hold the reins. All my skill retention just vanished. It was bizarre, and I'm sure it has to do with being sleep-deprived, but it shouldn't have pushed me to stay late. I should've put family first, and I'm sorry you felt neglected. That wounds me to hear that." He grabbed your hand and held it against his heart, leaning down to kiss your knuckles tenderly. "So, from now on, I will be home for dinner. I will be here for bedtime. I will be here when you need me, for whatever reason. Because when you hurt, I hurt. And I don't ever want to make you feel like that again. Don't want you to doubt starting a family with me."
You were crying against his neck, and Harry couldn't tell if it was a good or bad sign. Every word he had said was honest. Poured straight from his soul. It was a vow to be better and to learn from his mistakes. The adjustment from a blissful four months experiencing fatherhood at home to transitioning right into a forty-hour workweek had been messy, and it still would be in the weeks to come, so he hoped you understood that he was trying. It would all balance out soon enough. It just took time.
"Talk to me, sweetheart," Harry whispered to you. His daughter was making whiny noises now, so he carefully took her from your arms and cuddled her close. It felt like his vital purpose.
Meanwhile, you inhaled a few deep breaths to collect yourself. Your hand gripped the towel around his waist, and you gasped before saying, "This whole time, I thought you were naked."
He laughed, thankful for the brief levity. "I think you're still dreaming, sleepyhead." A small smile lifted your lips, and he had no choice but to kiss them. He'd been gone for far too long today.
"I forgive you," you said quietly. "I trust that you won't let this become a habit. I think there were heightened emotions from both of us, for valid reasons, and I found it hard to communicate exactly what I needed."
"You needed me," Harry replied, feeling guilt creep its way back into his mind.
"I know, but I can't always expect you to drop everything when you're needed elsewhere. That's not fair."
He nodded. "Still, you're my partner. It's my responsibility to make you feel adored, and since I blundered that today, how about if I take all the night shift duties this weekend?"
Your eyes fluttered shut, relief softening your facial features. "That would make me feel very adored."
"Yeah?" He kissed your forehead. "And since tomorrow's Saturday, I think I'll treat you to breakfast in bed."
You hummed, pleased as punch. "Tell me more."
"We'll sit on the porch swing and drink coffee," he continued, the domestic visualization sending a rush of heat through him. "Watch the sunrise and listen to the mourning doves."
"No, I meant tell me more about treating me to things in bed."
"Oh, my sincerest apologies," Harry said through an amused laugh. "Are we talking about innocent bed activities, or...?"
You were in a reverie, no doubt thinking of not-so-innocent activities. "Remember our wedding night when we tried using that—" A sudden and sharp wail sliced through your sentence, and in Harry's mind, he caught a brief flash of the memory: you, perched seductively on the living room sofa in the newly purchased beach house, more breathtaking than the ocean view in the distance. Harry, unable to believe he had found you and got to treasure your love for life. And yeah... he couldn't possibly forget that ridiculous toy he'd been gifted with at his bachelor party. Moving on.
"Let's all get some sleep so we can act alive tomorrow," Harry said. When he stood to start rocking the baby, the loosened towel dropped to the floor, leaving him stark naked in the moonlight. You giggled, and the sound was like a shot of bliss straight into his veins. He laughed too, drowsiness finally hitting him. It'd be a long night ahead, and although he would likely rack up a measly four hours of sleep, knowing he'd wake up beside you and have only dad-related obligations for the next three days made it sound peachy.
For the first time that day, a sense of calmness washed over him. Home, sweet home.

part 7 of to all the boys who live next door anthology series
Tumblr media
The trek home from the office is especially grueling today. Your backpack is heavy with a clunky work laptop that’s been due for an upgrade along with a pile of documents that need to be reviewed ASAP. One hand carries the dinner you bought at the station while the other hoists a heavy bag of groceries you picked up during lunch, thinking it would be productive to get as much of your errands done today before hunkering down for the weekend to do a job that doesn’t pay you enough to work overtime.
You eventually arrive to your apartment complex, making one more necessary pit stop to the mail room. Inside, you recognize the distinct pink-hair of the boy standing in front of the lockers. He’s your next-door neighbor’s younger brother who visits from time-to-time. “Hi Yuji!” you beam at him.
He turns to face you, eyes crinkling happily as he smiles. “Hey! How’s it going?”
You drop your bags to open your own locker. “I’m alright. Got a busy weekend working. And you?”
He kneels down towards the boxes in front of him. “Same, except studying for exams.”
“Are you picking up your brother’s packages?” It’s a well-known fact by now that Choso isn’t fond of leaving his apartment or interacting with people in general. It doesn’t bother you though; he’s a great neighbor who barely makes a peep. Never has he ever rubbed you the wrong way, despite his reclusive nature. Sometimes, through his brother, he’ll give you an offering of cookies from the batch he baked that week. On the days you’re working overtime, he’ll send Yuji to check in on you, making sure you’re not too stressed or overexerted. And on the rare occasion that the two of you meet face-to-face, either entering or leaving the apartment at the same time, your heart skips just the tiniest beat at how his face softens when you greet him with a smile. From these tiny gestures alone, you’ve determined that Choso Kamo is a sweetheart. Quiet, but most importantly, a sweetheart.
Yuji slides the stack out from Choso’s locker, answering you. “Yup. I also had some stuff delivered here, so I figured I’d just grab everything.”
You stare at the small package in your own locker, evaluating how you’re going to carry it to your room in one trip. There’s no space in any of the bags and you’re almost convinced that you can balance it on top of your head as if you actually possess the proper skills to do so (you don’t). “Need help?” Yuji chuckles. Before you answer, he grabs it, placing it on top of a box similar in size on his stack.
“Thank you so much!”
As the elevator rides to the third floor, you continue to chat casually with Yuji. The two of you walk to your neighboring rooms and when he reaches for his keys, the stack topples over, the boxes now strewn across on the hallway floor. He blushes, collecting them hastily back into a neat pile. “I’m sorry, I hope there isn’t anything fragile in there.” He quickly slides you a box, avoiding your gaze to hide his embarrassment.
It's new office supplies you ordered for your workstation at home, so you hardly care even if there is a bit of damage done. “Don’t worry about it, it’s all good,” you assure him, using your foot to push it towards your front door. “Thank you for your help, Yuji. Tell your brother I say hi.”
“Will do. Have a good night.”
Finally home, you drop all your belongings, letting out a relieved sigh. One-by-one, you put everything away: the groceries in their appropriate places, your lukewarm dinner in the microwave, and all your work junk on the dining table, where you’ll be sat at for most of this weekend starting tomorrow. You save the package for later, planning to refill your supplies tonight so you don’t have to worry about it the next morning.
You soon find out that something even better is waiting for you inside.
~~~
Choso is sprawled on the couch, too lazy to cook dinner. He ordered delivery from Yuji’s favorite pizza joint a few blocks away, which should be arriving any minute now, according to his calculations. When he hears the door open, he sits up, watching his brother enter with a tower of boxes in his hands. “I don’t remember ordering that much stuff,” he grumbles, standing up to help him.
“Most of these are mine. I think only this one is yours.” Yuji passes him a small box, which Choso quickly grabs to toss into his room, hoping to avoiding any questions about it. Truth be told, the contents of that box is way too embarrassing to explain to his precious baby brother. Inside is the sex toy he recently purchased online. It’s essentially a silicone cock sleeve, open on both ends for simple clean-up, made entirely of pliable material for ease and comfort. To put it simply, it’s a fleshlight. A state-of-the-art, new and improved fleshlight, he would like to emphasize. He’s been looking forward to using it all week and once Yuji leaves tonight, he’s going to give it a proper test run until he’s a puddle in the sheets.
It’s been a while since Choso’s been intimate with someone other than himself. A few bad breakups and past betrayals have led him to distrust most people outside of his intimate circle. The unpredictable nature of people, strangers, is frightening to him, so it’s better to avoid them completely. He has the luxury of working a job that’s fully remote, and aside from his brothers and the few colleagues he is forced to converse with periodically, it’s easy for him to remain a recluse, and he’s perfectly content with that. As for his sexual needs, he’s managed to make it this far in this drought thanks to sex toys and pornography. And while he’s aware that it’s not the most glamorous lifestyle, it works for him.
“By the way, your neighbor says hi,” Yuji mentions, opening his packages one-by-one. “She came into the mailroom.”
Choso says your name in the form of a question to clarify, though he’s certain of the answer. The only other human contact he has outside his circle is with you, his next-door neighbor. He doesn’t leave the house much, but on the occasion he does, he always hopes it’s you he runs into. He often worries that one day, you’ll realize what a pathetic loner he is and stop showing him that gorgeous smile of yours. So far, that hasn’t happened yet, so he cherishes those tiny moments every chance he gets. Something about that smile, something about you, makes him feel good. Safe.
“Yup,” Yuji confirms. “She had her hands full, so I helped her carry a package.”
Before Choso can inquire any further, there’s a knock on the door, signaling the arrival of their pizza. After thanking the delivery man, the two gather at the dining table, ready to dig into their dinner. Choso listens intently as Yuji laments on his weekly occurring university woes with a mouth full of pepperoni and sausage. As much as he adores his younger brother, he’s eager for his departure so he can have alone time to break in his new toy.
At eleven, without a crumb left of the pizza and the recycling bin filled with flattened cardboard boxes, Yuji finally announces that he’s leaving. He stuffs his newly delivered items, which includes textbooks, notepads, and a bunch of miscellaneous items, in his bag. “I’ll see you next week, bro. Take care of yourself,” he says, squeezing his big brother into a warm embrace. There’s always the smallest hint of concern in his voice whenever he leaves like this. Does he worry about him? For living a life of seclusion, constantly in fear of the outside world? Sure, it may sound lonely. In fact, it is lonely. But it’s easier to stay safe in the comfort of his own home than risk being hurt from the unknown. It’s better this way…isn’t it?
Choso muses on his brother’s parting words in the silence of his apartment for much longer than he intends to. He decides that the best way to keep him from spiraling further is a distraction, and that means fucking himself silly into temporary bliss until he knocks out for the night. Hidden away in various drawers of his bedroom are a plethora of options to choose from: vibrators, masturbators, cock rings, even the sex doll tucked deep in his closet. Tonight, however, is all about his shiny new toy. Pristine and untouched for him to ruin as much as he wants. He picks it up from the floor, ripping the tape off quickly, too impatient to inspect the exterior for any potential damage. When a stapler drops, almost hitting his feet, he stares down at it, confused. Thinking it’s a weird bonus item the sex shop has sent him, he chuckles nervously, still searching. Each item he uncovers leaves him more and more baffled: a container of paper clips, a wad of sticky notes, bundles of red pens, another fucking stapler. Finally, he checks the shipping label ripped partially from his haste, whatever color remaining on his face draining completely.
This isn’t his. It’s yours.
Which means…
By the way, your neighbor says hi. She came into the mailroom.
She had her hands full, so I helped her carry a package.
Oh fuck.
~~~
It’s near midnight when you’re ready to turn in for the night. You almost forget about the box sitting idly on the floor by your shoes, exactly where you left it a few hours ago. With your computer all set up for work tomorrow, you think it’s best to organize your new supplies before you actually do forget. At your desk, you open the package with a pair of scissors, excited for the new staplers you bought, a standard one and a heavy duty one. It’s surprising how neatly it’s wrapped, covered in tissue paper like some sort of gift. After removing all the extra layers, you finally get to the reveal, which renders you speechless.
Nestled neatly amongst more delicate tissue paper, the translucent material almost luminous against the dim glow from the lamplight, is a sex toy. Call it what you want: a penis stroker, a male masturbator, a pocket pussy. There’s absolutely no doubt in your mind what is before you. A fucking fleshlight.
Besides the obvious appearance, the dead giveaway is the user manual included with it, displaying in big, bold print “The Cock Stroker 3000 – New and Improved!”. Lifting the box up to inspect the shipping label, you notice that it says Choso’s name, not yours. If you weren’t so stunned by this unexpected discovery, you’d be giggling at the absurdity of it all. Instead, you’re gawking at the lewd gadget, unsure what to do next.
“Fuck!”
An intense shout from the other side of the wall snaps you out of it. That’s the loudest you’ve ever heard your neighbor, and you can only assume that he has also just realized this unfortunate mix-up. There’s no way the two of you can pretend this isn’t happening. Besides, the last thing you want is for Choso to think you have a bad impression of him after this. Because you don’t, not one bit. It’s perfectly normal for people to have sex toys. In fact, it’s healthy. Even the thought of him using it on himself intrigues you. The hungry expression on his face, tongue lolling out of his mouth, those usually pale cheeks blushing a deep red. The obscene squelch of the wet silicone surrounding his engorged cock, leaking with precum. Closer and closer to the edge, ready to burst any second with your lips near the tip, ready to swallow his load…
You almost curse out loud yourself, ashamed for having such lewd thoughts about your sweet, innocent next-door neighbor. But maybe he’s not as innocent as you think.
Ultimately, you decide the best way to move forward from this is to nip it in the bud. With the opened package in your hands, you walk over to his front door, knocking three times. You hear a faint, “Fuck, fuck, fuck,” from within, then hurried footsteps growing louder. Without removing the chain lock, he answers, peering at you through the narrow crack, not saying anything.
Nervous, you greet him with the best smile you can muster. “Hi Choso. I think there was a little mix-up.”
He clears his throat before mumbling a short, “Yeah.”
You glance away from him, staring at the floor, too embarrassed to meet his gaze for this next part. “I opened it without checking the label first. I’m so sorry.”
He shuts the door suddenly, startling you. There’s the distinct rattle of the chain being fiddled with and the door swings open fully, Choso towering over you, a serious expression on his face. He shows you a box, revealing all the office supplies you ordered earlier in the week. Without saying another word, you do the exchange, anticipating that this will be the end of it.
It surprises you when he apologizes quietly, focused on the small space separating you. “I’m sorry you had to see that.” He hides it behind his back, as if doing so will erase the image of it from your memory. “You must think I’m disgusting.”
You shake your head, ignoring the instinct to step closer and comfort him with a hug. The last thing you want to do is cross even more lines tonight. “I don’t, not even the slightest. It’s okay, Choso. This is totally normal and totally fine.”
“You don’t have to say that – ”
“But I mean it! I really do! There’s nothing wrong with it!” Desperate for him to believe you, you confess, “I have sex toys too, plenty of them!”
This time, he actually looks at you with a mixture of intrigue and skepticism. “You don’t have to lie for my sake.”
“I’m not lying!” you urge him.
He retreats inside his apartment, speaking once again through the crack. “I appreciate you trying to make this better, but I think it’s best that we never speak again. Goodnight.”
With that, he shuts the door, leaving you with a lump in your throat, devastated. In your frenzied attempt to fix this, you return to your room, searching your bedside drawer for your favorite vibrator. If words aren’t enough to convince him, then maybe actual proof will. Without taking a moment to reconsider the hole you’re digging yourself deeper and deeper into, you pound on his door, the sex toy clasped in your other hand.
When he answers, you shove it in his face, vindicated that you can prove your point with physical evidence. “See? I told you! I have toys too, so there’s nothing for you to be ashamed about.”
He squints at the vibrator squeezed in your fist as if inspecting it like a foreign object. “That’s it?”
You glare at him, offended by his response. “What do you mean?”
He tilts his head to examine it at another angle. “There’s only one button.”
“One button is all I need,” you argue, defensive about your favorite being criticized. “Sure, it’s small, but that’s what I like about it. It fits comfortably in my hand and with just a single push of the button, I can experience three different levels of intensity. What more do I need?!”
He smirks, amused at your rambling. “I just don’t see how something this simple can be useful, that’s all.”  It’s the closest to a smile you’ve seen from him; it has your belly fluttering.
You hold back a laugh. “I bet it packs more of a punch than that Cock Sucker 2000 or whatever.”
“3000,” he corrects, grinning, causing your heart to race. “I haven’t tried it yet, but it’s the best on the market right now.” He hesitates, his next words coming out of his mouth slowly, testing the waters. “Maybe you can show me what your little toy can do. Prove me wrong.”
You never expected this from him, but that’s what makes this exciting. All you can think of in this moment is showing him just how wet you can get. “Fine,” you agree, stepping towards him. “But only if you show me what your little toy can do, too.”
~~~
Never in a million years did Choso predict that this would be the outcome of your bizarre mix-up. You, his next-door neighbor, on his bed, naked from the waist down. Your t-shirt riding up your stomach with your legs split apart, the cute vibrator you love so much pressed to your clit. He kneels in front of you, too transfixed at the erotic sight before him to give attention to the erection strained in his sweatpants.
“You’re next,” you say, glancing at his lap.
He nods, all the confidence he had just a few minutes ago when he initially proposed this idea thrown out the window. Now, he’s back to being his nervous self, afraid to be vulnerable with someone he barely knows.
You set the vibrator beside you, closing your legs. “Are you okay?”
He’s frozen, tempted to call the whole thing off. Go back to being neighbors and nothing more. Go back to being lonely Choso and pathetic Choso, who’s scared of everyone and everything  and –
“Hey.” It’s only now he realizes that the two of you are face-to-face, foreheads pressed, noses touching. Your voice is gentle, your palms soft on his cheeks. You smile at him, full of warmth and compassion. “We don’t have to do this if you don’t want to.”
“It’s been a while since I’ve been with someone,” he admits. “I’m nervous.” A myriad of what-ifs play out in his head. What if he’s bad? What if you don’t like it? What if this ruins whatever sliver of hope the two of you have at being friends? At being anything more?
“We’ll go slow then,” you assure him, brushing your lips to his. That genuine smile of yours is enough to convince him that it’s worth the risk. That, and how fucking good it feels to have your mouth on his. He closes his eyes, leaning into the kiss, relishing the warmth of your breath. He finds himself gradually losing control of his inhibitions, his carnal instincts taking over, hungry for more of you. He slips his tongue inside, swirling around yours, kisses growing frantic and sloppy. You tug at the collar of his shirt, pulling him towards you. His heart pounds in his chest as he roams your body, fingers grazing your perked nipples from outside your top. You whisper his name, so luscious and sweet in your voice. He’d be lying if he said he’s never imagined it before. How you’d sound whimpering from his touch. How you’d feel between his massive hands. How you’d look with his cock filling you up to the brim.
He can’t stand it anymore. He’s aching, begging for release from the confines of his pants. Quickly, he removes them, freeing his throbbing erection. You gasp, marveling at the size of it. “Oh fuck, Choso. You’re so big.”
“Yeah?” he breathes out, fumbling for the Cock Sucker 3000 beside him. He slathers a generous amount of lube on his shaft and inside the toy. Foreheads pressed together once more, you both focus on his lap, watching it sink smoothly down his dick. The coldness of the lube and rubbery flexibility of the silicone surrounding him is familiar, though having someone spectate makes this all the more titillating.
“Fuck,” you swear, amazed at how it covers his entire length. You ogle at him as he starts slowly, eventually increasing to a steady pace. Your pussy flutters, incredibly aroused to see this man pumping his cock in front of you. For you.
“Do it with me.” His gaze flickers to the vibrator beside you. “You should feel good too.”
You spread your legs, displaying your cunt to him, already sopping wet with arousal. His eyes follow your every move as you tease the tip slowly up and down your pussy lips. Finding the right spot on your clit, you place your finger on the button of the toy, bracing yourself for what’s to come. As soon as you press it, the vibrations from level one alone are enough to send you wild. Knees shaking, feet flexing, moans pouring out of your open mouth. He continues to watch you, restraining his grunts as he strokes himself faster. Desperate for more, you click the button twice, increasing the vibrations to the max level. Within seconds, you’re coming, back arched and head thrown into the pillows behind you. Tossing the vibrator aside, you stare up at the ceiling, dizzy and disoriented from your ecstatic high, pussy shiny with your orgasm. Choso’s voice is so faint, you don’t understand him at first. You sit up to face him, waiting for him to repeat himself.
“Can you ride my face?” he asks meekly.
More than willing to accept his request, you nod in response, grinning. His expression relaxes and when you lean nearer to him, palm pressed flat on his chest, he even cracks a smile as he’s lies down on the bed, eager to have you like this. You straddle him, facing away from the headboard while his head rests at the foot of the bed. Carefully, you lower yourself until his mouth is pressed to your pussy. His tongue circles your clit slowly and he releases his grip from his toy to hold onto your ass, squeezing the soft flesh firmly. You don’t take your eyes off each other as you rub yourself across his face, his mouth open, swallowing every drop of you. When you reach your second orgasm, you’re practically bouncing on him as he smothers himself deeper, humming in satisfaction as he sucks hard on your clit, flicking it with his tongue.
You lift yourself off him, spent and completely wrecked. Still, you want to touch him, treat him as well as he treated you, make him come as hard as you did. You position yourself between his thighs, admiring the silicone sleeve hugging his dick. “Your turn.”
Sitting up on his elbows, he watches as you grab hold of the toy, stroking him with it. He moans, tongue hanging of his mouth, drool leaking from the corners of his lips, eyes half-lidded. His moans turn into whimpers when you start cradling his balls with your other hand, his body twitching from the sensation. The tip peeks out from the other end, a thick wad of precum collecting at the slit, so enticing that you’re salivating for a taste.
“Your mouth,” he stammers, barely able to speak.
“What?” you ask breathily, inching closer and closer.
“Want your mouth.” He swallows hard, voice trembling. “Please.”
Excited, you remove the toy from him, in awe at the way his fat cock flops heavily against his abdomen. You take him in your fist, loving how hot and throbbing he is in your grip. He’s coated in lube and precum, so slippery with your fingers wrapped around his girth. Unable to resist any longer, you bow your head, licking the pearl off the tip, savoring the taste. He shudders, letting out a loud, “Fuck!”
It’s so much better than a toy. The wet heat of your mouth surrounding him is better than any masturbator, fleshlight, pocket pussy, whatever silly contraption he uses to get by. The swirl of your tongue gliding along the shaft, the vibrations of your moans as you take him all the way to the back of your throat, the view of your pretty head bobbing up and down his lap. Nothing in his collection compares to this. This is real. You are real.
He fucks your throat, unable to resist bucking his hips against you, timing his thrusts to meet yours. It doesn’t take much longer for him to be pushed over the edge. You pull off for a brief moment to smile at him, pumping him fast. “Come for me, Choso. Come in my mouth.”
At this, he completely loses himself, muffling his incessant moans into his forearm, too shy to watch you guzzle down his entire load until he’s milked of every last drop. You scatter delicate kisses along the entire length of him, even down to his balls. Too sensitive now, he pats you gently on the head, making you look up at him, a warm smile on your face. He smiles back, caressing your cheek, thumb grazing your soft skin. You lie beside him, nuzzling into his chest, listening to his heartbeat slow to a steady, relaxed pace. He slides his arm around you, pressing a soft kiss to your forehead. “Thank you.”
This world is a terrifying place for Choso Kamo. But with you in his arms, he feels a bit braver. He’s safe with you.
surely not? why was the jude bellingham following you??
↳ judebellingham: 😍😍
yourusername: hello 🤨
judebellingham: hey
judebellingham: just wanted to say i think you're gorgeous
yourusername: thank you 🫶
judebellingham: anytime
you couldn't actually believe what you were seeing. jude bellingham calling you gorgeous? what sort of dream were you living in? you tried not to get too excited, you'd heard all about his reputation and he'd probably never give you a second thought. but you were wrong.
2 days later
instagram
judebellingham: hey
judebellingham: how are you doing
yourusername: i'm doing great
yourusername: how are you doing? i saw your last few madrid games and you played great
judebellingham: thanks. i'm good
judebellingham: maybe you should come to a game one day 😉
the next 6 months that followed were a dream. you'd exchanged phone numbers with jude a month after your first conversation and you'd spoken every day since. you'd congratulated him after every win and comforted him after every loss. facetiming eachother became your nightly routine and you couldn't believe how lucky you were.
but you tried to take it all with a grain of salt. jude had a reputation of being a player, something you already knew and had been reminded of by your friends. you were more than a fuck and you wanted jude to know that.
jude: hey love
jude: i've got a big game and i was wondering if you want to come and then stay over with me for a few days? i really wanna see you again
you: i'll try to come but i don't know if i'll be able to get the time off
jude: just let me know so i can get enough tickets x
you didn't really know how to react. you loved meeting jude for the first time, but the idea of going over to stay with him scared you. you'd started to really like jude, and worried that he only wanted to get you to come over to him so sleep with you.
you knew all about his reputation, and you didn't think you knew him well enough so you slowly distanced yourself from jude.
jude: can you come? we haven't spoke in a few days and i need to know
you: i can't come sorry. the next weeks just super busy for me :(
the following week consisted of you and jude barely speaking. you felt bad about it, you didn't mean to upset him but you didn't want to get your hopes up. you'd heard about footballers and the way they had casual hookups then ignored girls. you didn't want that. you were worth more than that and you didn't want to get hurt by jude because he didn't have the same intentions as you.
but jude was on the exact same page as you. he didn't understand why you'd just basically disappeared, had he done something wrong? did he make you feel like he was rushing you? he'd tried to call you, but you didn't answer, instead texting him a simple "sorry i've been busy lately" and leaving him alone.
at first jude tried to appreciate that you were just abit busy. he knew you cared alot about your studies and work and were independent, but he couldn't help feeling a bit hurt. nothing in your routine had actually changed, and jude had started to get the impression you were ignoring him on purpose.
you wouldn't answer his calls and barely texted him, so he decided to come to you. he messaged one of your closest friends that he'd met before and asked her to help him suprise you.
the pounding on your door abruptly woke you up, and you swung it open with a scowl on your face until you saw who was behind it. your eyes locked with judes, and you couldn't actually believe he was infront of you holding the biggest bunch or roses you'd ever seen.
jude's heart melted at the sight of you. your hair messy, a duvet wrapped about you and a tired grin on your face. "jude?"
"hi" his voice was shakey but he smiled widely regardless.
"what're you doing here? come in you're gonna get ill"
he stepped in, shutting the door behind him but he didn't dare move any further. "i'm sorry. if you want me to leave i will but i just wanted to see that you were ok. we've suddenly just stopped speaking and i was worried that i pressured you. i'm sorry if i made you think i was pushing you to get too serious to fast. i just really like you"
"seriously?"
"yes"
"jude i'm so sorry. i didn't wanna upset you i just got scared. i know all about footballers reputations and yours and i just didn't wanna be another girl that you just sleep with then ignore" you felt mean saying it. super mean.
"what? look i've done that before but you're so so different. everything about you is so perfect. your laugh, your eyes, how kind you are, the way you always see the best in people. i've known you for six months but i feel like i've known you all my life. you're literally perfect. i'm sorry if i made you feel like i didn't see you that way. i will do whatever it takes to prove to you how much you mean to me" he brought his hands up to cup your cheeks and you leaned into them, the warmth of his palms and his words making love wash over you.
"i really really like you jude" you mumbled, and he grinned wide "good cause i really really like you too"
"y'know, if you can still get me tickets i'll come to your matches"
"don't feel like you have to baby"
"i do. i want us to spend more time together jude"
he pulled you into his chest, wrapping his arms around you. "d'ya wanna go and get breakfast tomorrow? it can be our first proper date" he lightly pinched your side, melting when he felt a smile form on your face. "i'd like that"
Movie! Shadow x Platonic! Reader
Genre: Fluff, Some Comfort
Word Count: 1,803 words
⚠️ Warning: The reader is a little sad for the first half, but don’t worry things get better!
Summary: Hello everyone! This isn’t the end of my Shadow fics, & I am planning more for the SCU in the future. But I figured this would be a good way to wrap things up! This is the song I used, but I hope you all enjoy! Thank you!
Tumblr media
6:45PM
The numbers glowed under Shadow’s eyes as he examined the stove’s electric timer. He kept looking at it, as if his gaze would miraculously make the time go faster.
You were never this late before.
He turned his head towards the window and watched the sunset turn the deepest orange against the mountains. The vibrant colors now fading into a dark palette.
It was going to be night soon. Just where on Earth were you?
Shadow wondered if he should go get you. He knew the address of your workplace, words and numbers you had him memorize in case of emergency. But that was limited to calls on the telephone you bought for the kitchen. Not wanting someone suspicious to discover your little buddy.
He would be quick; teleporting to and from the house would be a cinch for him. If it was dark out no one would notice him either. But what if you already left? He didn’t want to go searching for you if you weren’t there.
Shadow’s thoughts quickly dissolved as a loud THUMP hit the door. He watched with narrow eyes, but then the doorknob started to jiggle up and down. He heard the THUMP sound again and a couple grunts, then a loud “OW!” behind the door.
“Shadow!” You called. “Shadow you there!”
He exhaled, letting his body relax as he walked up to the door.
“Yes!!” Shadow answered back. He heard you breathe a sound of relief before shouting again.
“Hey bud—if you’re by the door, can you open it for me please! The keys are stuck real good this time!”
Shadow hummed and quickly turned the lock. You stumbled inside, clutching your belongings as Shadow caught you.
“Well, don’t you have good timing?” You breathed.
Shadow nodded, “You really should get the door fixed.”
Quickly you took off your jacket and pried the key from the lock. “Yea, sorry buddy. I’ve been meaning to, just-haven’t found the time yet…”
“But thank you, by the way! And sorry for being late, I got held up at work and the bus was super late today. Thought I’d have to walk back.”
Shadow shook his head, “That’s alright. Just glad you’re safe.”
You smiled; he was always looking out for you, but you hoped you hadn’t worried him too much.
Unfortunately though, Shadow was a keen observer. And something about your smile made him feel doubtful. It was too quick, too flat. Even your eyes looked dull under the lighting.
As you put away your things, you pulled out your phone and started typing. Shadow was amazed at the concept of pocket technology, and he knew it held great importance nowadays. Although recently, you’ve been getting a lot of emails. And from your expressions, Shadow couldn’t tell if they were good or bad ones. You just seemed very eager to answer.
“[Y/N]?”
No answer.
“[Y/N]?”
Nope.
Shadow walked over and tapped your arm.
“Hey—”
“AH!”
You jolted at his touch and Shadow raised an eyebrow.
“Are you alright?” He asked.
“O-Oh, yes I’m fine! Sorry Shadow, I’m just a little busy right now.” You quickly put your phone away and wandered over to the fridge, looking for something to get dinner started. But to your surprise, the fridge was nearly empty.
Less than half-a-dozen eggs and some week-old scraps sat on the shelves, along with a small milk carton and a bag of apples. Hardly what you’d call a proper dinner.
“Aw—no!” You facepalmed, “I knew I forgot something! I was supposed to go to the store today!”
You gave a worried look then rushed over to the pantry, but got the same result. All that was in there were snack boxes and some espresso candy for Shadow. Which already had a pretty good dent in it.
Your head hung low as you leaned onto the pantry door, clearly embarrassed. Shadow walked over and put a comforting hand on your arm.
“It’s fine, there’s gotta be something in here we can use.”
You purse your lips together, then an idea pops in!
“Hey! Why don’t we order pizza instead?”
“Pizza?” Shadow mimicked, “That should suffice.”
“Great! I’ll just see what’s open right now and then we can—”
Before you could pull out your phone again, you patted down your pockets. Checking each one frantically before whirling around in a circle.
“Crap! My wallet’s in my jacket—” You combed your hair with your hand, and Shadow looked at you strangely.
You seemed far less relaxed than usual, restless even. Something wasn’t right, and running all over the place most definitely wouldn’t help.
“I am so sorry, lemme just look for it real qu—”
Shadow grabbed your wrist, halting your movements. It didn’t hurt, but you weren’t expecting such strength from someone his size. It was like someone super glued you in place before you  finally shuffled your feet back.
You turned around, and saw a frown on your friend’s face. It wasn’t his typical droning or any distressed look.
“Shadow…are you okay?”
He glanced to the side before he let you go. “I should be asking you that. But first—stop apologizing.”
Your eyes widened.
“You’ve been doing it since you got here. You need to stop.”
You swallowed; had you really been repeating yourself?
You put your hands in your pocket, opening your mouth to speak, but quickly closed it. You almost said it again.
“I–I didn’t mean to worry you Shadow. It’s just…been a long day.”
You trudged over to the table and flopped into a seat. “Things have just been a bit hectic lately. Work’s been a little crazy, and I haven’t had too much time on my hands.”
“Didn’t mean to make you upset though,”
You rested a hand on your cheek, only to groan in defeat as your phone buzzed. Your demeanor had deflated into a pile of mush, and Shadow couldn’t find any more words to say.
Words had never been his strong suit. Not since his time with her.
Even then, Maria did most of the effort. Playing games, picking movies, even dancing were all left to her. Leaving Shadow to enjoy her company as long as he liked.
Yet here he was with you, someone who had welcomed him into their home. Someone he could have peace around, and hold onto. When he couldn’t even stand on his own two feet, you were there to pick him up.
He could rely on you, but right now, you needed him.
You had pulled your phone out to check the notification, but Shadow was swift. He grabbed it in one smooth motion.
“Shadow!! Hey—”
Just as you stood, he teleported away.
“Wh—Shadow?!” You gawked.
After a moment, he reappeared. Standing on top of the counter with your precious phone in hand. You attempted to grab it from him, scolding him for such behavior, but Shadow didn’t care. He swatted you away as he vigorously started pushing buttons.
Or at least tried to. It took awhile for the screen to recognize his touch, the gloves likely didn’t help. He finally found the app he was searching for, then held the phone out to you.
“Play this.”
Your mouth hung open, “Huh?”
“Just play the song, please.” Shadow turned his head, waiting.
There was no use arguing with him; Shadow had a firm state of mind. He might even hide your phone if you didn’t listen.
Sighing, you turned up the volume and pressed the PLAY button. Letting soft, bubbly music fill the kitchen.
What’s that playing on the radio?
Why do I start swaying to and fro?
“Hey!” You exclaimed. “Did you watch Grease without me?”
Shadow smirked, “Maybe.”
Then he did something unexpected: he held out his hand to you.
“Sometimes, your feelings–your emotions get stuck. Your body needs help releasing them, but music is good for that.”
His words soaked in your sorrows like a wet sponge. They took a hold of you, and you grabbed his hand.
“Guess..you’re right.” You breathed. “When’d you get so wise?”
“Actually, a good friend taught me that. She liked to dance.”
You smiled, putting both hands in his.
“Well, she sounds amazing.”
A melody that's never the same!
A melody that's calling your name
And begs you please! Come back to me!
You took two steps forward, striding with the beat as Shadow took two steps back. Then vice versa.
The music softened your shoulders as it carried you. You swayed as you both stepped to the right. Then to the left, shuffling until you started to turn.
Shadow followed in perfect sync and you two shimmed in a half circle, playfully swinging your arms to the beat. You gently tugged him closer to the edge, he took the hint and jumped down, hands held higher at the height change.
“Hey you’re pretty good at this!” You grinned. So did Shadow.
“Thank you.”
I'll be waiting by the radio!
You'll come back to me
Someday, I know!
“Been so long since our last goodbye!” You sang. “But I’m singin’ as I cry-y-y!”
You hopped up and down at the last verse, jerking poor Shadow forward. The second half of the song rolled around and you were basically leading at that point. Unknown to you, his big gloved hands fell limp as you went on. He almost looked like a ragdoll as you danced and Shadow couldn’t be happier.
Time seemed to move slower, yet the outro of the song drew near as the lyrics shifted. In that time you and Shadow shuffled in a full circle, going round and round til the final words. You ended in a grand “TA-DA” pose with your hand held up, earning a l laugh from the hedgehog.
A bit of laughter burst from you too. Then, you bent down on one knee, reaching Shadow’s level.
Without warning, you tossed your arms around him.
Shadow didn’t flinch but instead fell still under your touch. At first you feared hugging was too much, but you had to adjust yourself when Shadow pressed his hands against your back. Burying his head in the base of your shoulder.
The phone had already switched to a different song, but no one heard it. Your voice played just above the music, loud enough for only Shadow to hear.
“Thank you, Shadow. Youre such a good kid.”
“Thank you,” He mumbled. “You’ve been such a good friend.”
After a few long seconds you two pulled away, and you rubbed the top of his spiky head.
“Now, how ‘bout we order that pizza!” You laughed. “I’m actually starving right now.”
You went to grab your phone and wallet, scrolling through countless pizza toppings. Leaving Shadow with the warmth of your embrace. Something he hadn’t felt in such a long time.
“Maria would’ve loved you.” He thought.
🩵 —THE END— 🩵
(Quick sidenote: I hope I timed the music right! Let me know if it’s a little funky!)
International student x Fermín
Reader and Fermín have been friends with benefits since she has to head home after the semester’s over but Fermín grows to have feelings for her and he confesses in the middle of sex. Something super teeth rotting, loads of fluff. Maybe Fer is a huge simp for the reader? If you’re comfy with this 😭
Tumblr media
POLAND - FERMIN
summary: fermin will have to confess his feelings to you before you fo back to your home country or else its too late
a/n: not proofread, because again, I am lazy... sorry :D
warnings: smut, a lot.
It was simple at first.
"Sex only?" You asked while Fermin nodded his head.
"We're both too busy to maintain a relationship, so why not just agree to be sex buddies, besides that, you need to leave in 3 months. I mean we both enjoy the sex don't we?" Your eyes lit up at the suggestion. Your friendship was falling apart since weeks now. So you agreed.
You originally met him at the university in a class where you had to work on a project together. The connection between you two was felt immediately. He also was shocked that your Spanish was that good since you're from Poland, you only moved to Barcelona to study for a few years before moving there.
"And you're...?" Fermin pulled the chair next to you so he could sit down. You threw your hair behind your back after you looked at the fit blonde man next to you.
"Y/n" You couldn't help but smile at him.
"Beautiful name." He didn't try to hide that he was flirting, the smile and the way he turned to face you in his chair was so obvious. "I'm Fermin."
"Nice to meet you Fermin." You looked up at him, he was slightly taller than you while sitting.
"It's a pleasure for me. It's also a pleasure to be working with you, I'm sure we're gonna have a great time together." Fermin told you without paying attention to his surroundings.
"Mr López, enough of the flirting you have time for that in your free time." Your professor scolded him and you quickly turned your head the other way to laugh.
Fermin shook his head while looking down into his lap, trying to hide that smile that spread across his lips when you looked at him again.
-
Suddenly Fermin sat down next to you on the bench in front of the school. "What are your plans for next year?" Fermin avoided eye contact while you looked at him with a shocked expression.
"Um, hi?" You smiled at him while he finally looked at you. "I'm gonna move back home, I'm not from here."
"Wait, you're not spanish?" He turned his upper body towards you as his brows knit together. He raised his brows as you shook your head. "Your Spanish is incredibly good. Its fascinating almost, taking that you're not even Spanish." He stopped for a second while he looked away. "Where are you from?"
"Im from poland" You answered and he couldn't help but smile at your words.
"So you can talk to Lewandowski?" He laughed a bit while you just grinned at his words.
"If I ever meet Lewandowski I'll talk to him in polish, yeah." You laughed.
Fermin the smiled. "When I play in the first team with him, I'll make sure that you're gonna talk to him in polish."
-
"Are you free tonight or do you have to study?" Fermins face was visible on your phone as you held it infront of you. You were just taking a walk on the beach when the midfielder facetimed you. Fermin had to leave for practice in 10 minutes so he wanted to talk to you about his idea. Even tho his friends knew about the two of you hooking up, he hated to talk about that topic in front of them.
"I have to study, but I can maje some time, when do you get off practice?" You inhaled the fresh air coming from the ocean while your shoes kept sinking into the sand.
"Can I come over after practice? That gives you another six hours to study." Fermins lips grew inro a smile afyer he heard that one sigh that meant 'fine, you have convinced me'. And he was right. "Fine, but shower at the facilities, I dont want you using my shampoo ever again." You gwve him a strict look. The midfielder bit his lip whole he nodded.
"I will, see you later." Fermin looked at you and the blue sky behind you. "Bye" You gwve him a small smile and then hung up the phone. After his face disappeared from the display, your airpods started playing runaway by Kanye West again, the midfielder calling you had paused the music on your phone. You inhaled sharply and then went on with your day.
-
"Hey babe!" Fermins voice echoed through the hallway right after the door slammed shut.
"I told you to stop calling me that." You sung without even taking your eyes off of the papers infront of you.
"Hey Sexbuddy, does that sound better?" Fermin was standing behind you, his presence made you feel hot immediately.
"No, that just makes me sound like an object." Eyes scanning across your notes whike you talked to the midfielder.
"Babe it is then." Fermin leaned down to your neck, his hit breath against your skin gave you shivers. You sighed and then turned in your chair so that you could face him. You looked at him for a couple of seconds before turning around again and going back to your studies. He then put both of his hands on your shoulders and you exhaled deeply.
"I don't see you for 5 days and your shoulders are this bad? You really need to relax a bit more." Fermin told you and started to massage your shoulders. You threw your head back as his string hands started to enlighten the tension from your muscles.
"I know babe, my hands work wonders." Fermin whispered into your ear and you couldnt help but smile. Then you stood up and stood proud infront of him, hair pulled back into a tight ponytail and shoulders pushed back. His hands slid from your shoulders to your waist, his big hands burning your skin with his hot touch. You were wearing a grey crop top with some black joggers.
You both knew why he was there, neither of you ever met up before to just talk with eachother. Maybe after sex he stayed sometimes but never just a normal meetup between the two of you.
"Let's go upstairs yeah?" You took Fermins right hand off of your body and interlocked your fingers with his. His lips curled up into a smile while he followed you up the staircase, his hand never leaving yours.
As soon as the two of you entered the bedroom, you closed the door and shut it behind yourself while Fermin shoved you against the door and crushed his lips into yours forcefully. Hot breaths were exchanged during the kiss and while Fermins hand slipped below the waistband of your joggers.
He then slipped them off then leaned down to grab your exposed tighs and lifted you up.
Your legs wrapped around his waist almost naturally and your lips never leaving his while your hands wrapped around his neck.
Eventually he walked you over to your bed and leaned over you, his hands sliding underneath the crop top and pulling it over your head. That left you only in your underwear.
"Take off your clothes Fer." You started pulling at the hem of his shirt until he chuckled and took off his clothes.
"Needy much princesa?" Fermin who was only in his boxers leaned over you again. The temple in his boxers was so obviously visible as you looked down at his abs.
"You could say that-" You then put your hands behind yourself and unclipped your bra, pulling it off your arms. His gaze shifted from your eye to your tits, a smirk made its way to his lips.
"But what if you find out instead?" You pulled off your panties too.
Fermin has never pulled down his boxers that fast as he did that time. His dick jumping out of the white fabric material, tip red and pre cum glistening over it. He pumped his hand uo and down a couple of times while he put your left leg over his shoulder. Your pussy was on display for jim.
"You're so wet." He mumbled as he licked his fingers and spread it along your folds. You were too much of a mess fo answer him, so thats why you nearly screamed when you felt his tip enter you, and slowly he was fully inside of you. You threw your head back and arched your back off the bed towards him. No matter how many times you slept with him, you couldn't get enough of him once he was inside of you.
"Are you okay?" Fermin groaned and you nodded, your heavy breathing made him worry a bit.
You nodded, and as he began thrusting in and out of you, you closed your eyes. The room was filled with noises of skin slapping, his low groans and your moans.
"You're amazing" Fermin hid his head in the crook of your neck. His hot breaths burning against your sweaty skin.
You shut your eyes as he hit a spot that made you drop your jaw. Fermin noticed that he hit the right spot and kept hitting it, soon the warm feeling in your stomach started to build up. The aching feeling in your legs got worse as he grabbed both of them and put them over his shoulders, allowing him to reach even deeper inside of you.
Just after a few seconds his rhythm became uneven and you knew he was about to come. And just a few seconds later Fermin came and you felt his load filling you up.
He was panting heavily as he then made you finish too just a couple of minutes later.
"Are you okay?" He asked you after the sex.
"Yeah" You answered shortly, a small smile decorating your lips as you were still in shock of how good it was, once again.
"Good." Fermin said and then kissed your cheek.
-
"Hermano where were you yesterday?" Gavi walked up to Fermin in the dressing room the next day. The blonde midfielder jumped a little, he feared seeing Gavi that day.
Gavi had called him the previous day and texted him a lot of times. Fermin however didn't pick up because he was busy seeing you.
That wasn't the first time it had happened that Fermin didn't pick up or answer his phone because he was seeing you. That was exactly why Gavi knew what his friend was up to.
"At home." Fermin told Gavi in a nervous tone, he tried to hide it as much as he could from the younger midfielder but it was impossible.
"You were with Y/n weren't you?" Gavi sighed and looked away for a second before looking back at Fermin. "Listen you need to tell her that you have feelings for her."
Gavi's words made Fermins hair stand up straight, it almost gave him shivers. He was well known to the fact that he may or may have not caught real romantic feelings for you, but nobody had ever told him to confront you about them.
"I can't, you know that. What we have is just sex, we agreed on that." Fermin answered shortly and then turned back to the shirt he wanted to pull over his head.
"Your time is running out, how long until she leaves?" Gavi stood in that one spot while his friend kept changing his clothes.
"2 months." Fermin answered and avoided eye contact.
"You need to tell her as soon as possible." Gavi gave him a serious look before he turned around and made his way to his locker.
"mhm"
-
"Are you busy?" Fermin asked while you just walked into the locker room at the gym you were going to. A deep sigh escaped your lips as your chest was still rising up and down at a bit of a faster pace.
"I'm at the gym rn, I just got done." Taking the dark blue towel you always had with you and drying off the sweat off your forehead, Fermin smiled on the other end of the phone.
"I'll pick you up and we'll go back to your place, is that good?" Fermin asked.
"Yeah, just hurry, and I'll need to take a shower when we're there." You explained while already grabbing your hoodie so that youre not walking around with a sports bra only.
"Perfect me too, see you soon." Fermin hung up the phone with a wide smile. You on the other hand wasn't so smiley. So when Fermins car stopped at the side of the road and you were able to get in, he notoced immediately that you were in a bad mood.
He leaned over the center console and pressed a kiss on your lips, your eyes immediately widened and you pulled away from him.
"What are you doing?" You raised your voice a little as you looked at him shocked. Fermins smile had faded and he just loomed at you, confused while hie mouth was slightl open.
"I kissed you" Fermin tried to justify himself and he began to drive while you grabbed the seatbelt.
"Why here, do you want anyone to see? Do you want the media to know that we're fuck buddies?" You asked, Fermin just stayed quiet while he focused on ths road and listened to you. He knew that you were right but it still hurt him a bit.
So he mumbled a quiet "Sorry" and you scoffed while pulling out your phone.
Fermin on the other hand was biting down on his tongue while he really tried to keep his mouth shut. He just got the confirmation that you would never want to be his girlfriend, you dont wanna be seen with him.
So he stayed quiet, until he parked down the car in front of your apartment. "So you're still down to fuck?" Fermin asked, speaking way too fast but confident while he looked at you, brows knit together.
As soon as you heard his tone you turned your head confused. "Are you seriously mad now?" Your brows were raised and the midfielder scoffed while shaking his head and turning off the car.
"Let's go inside, since you don't wanna be seen with me anyways." Fermin mumbled as he opened the door, it was difficult for you to understand the last part because he had already stepped out of the car.
"Fer, come on" you walked a bit faster so you could catch up with him, he walked to your apartment and unlocked the door with his key. Then he turned around as soon as you closed the door.
"So you still wanna get laid? I see." Fermin nodded without even trying to hear you out. You tried to speak up multiple times but he always just answered with "no" and cut you off, until you had enough.
"Could you just shut the fuck up for a second and hear me out?" Your voice loud, it made Fermin shut his mouth immediately, he now looked at you with raised brows and big eyes. "i never said I dont wanna be seen with you, I said I dont want people to find out that we're hooking up. That's only for you, because you know how everyone is, they'll say stuff like youre distracted by me and all of that. I don't like you kissing me in public for your careers sake." You spoke way too fast which left you with a lack of air after everything you said.
Fermins mouth was hanging slightly open and he was speechless, he felt like an idiot. Not hearing you out when what you did was completely right, you were right. Now the regret washed over him and he buried his face in his hands.
He lifted his head again as he mumbled a quiet "Sorry" while looking into your eyes with all honesty. "I'm so sorry, you're right." Fermin told you again, this time you didn't just stand there, taking a step closer to him, you wrapped your arms around him and rested your head against his body.
He also put his arms around you and immediately he felt safe, he felt like everything in the world was okay again. That was when his eyes widened, however you didn't notice that. The truth was, Fermin was scared of his feelings, of his romantical feelings towards you.
He didn't want to fall in love with his sex buddy, what was even worse that you were leaving soon.
You pulled him back from his thought as you looked up at him due to him being slightly taller. "I still wanna get laid tho." A smile displayed on your lips while Fermin was looking back at you with an even bigger one.
Before he however did anything, he leaned closer to you and carefully put his lips onto yours. His hands pulling your hips closer and for the first time, the kiss you two shared wasn't rushed, wasn't contained only of moans and heavy breaths, nothing sexual, just you two sharing a kiss.
Then you pulled away and then slowly started backing up into your bedroom, laying down on the bed, you took off your shirt. You smiled as he walked even closer to you.
"Hey it's 'The Best Sex You've Ever Had' what can I get you?" Fermin moved up his hand to his ear and pretended to talk into a microphone.
"I think I'd enjoy missionary," You smiled cheekily and Fermin nodded his head. He pulled his shirt off and after you both were naked, he got on top of you, admiring your body while he teased your entrance with his tip.
You threw your head back as he pushed inside you and you felt his dick twitch against your walls.
Then he slowly began to pull out and push in again. He repeated that for a whole while and eventually also added to your overstimulation by rubbing your clit. You both came at the same time and Fermin collapsed on top of you. Howver you convinced him that it's totally fine to do another round. So he oushed inside of yiu again, it didn't take long for him to feel on edge. "I'm about to come." He groaned while closing his eyes shut.
"Come inside me Fermin." You told him to which he just responded with a low and silent groan.
"Fuck, I love you" Fermin whispered without thinking and suddenly you immediately stopped moaning and looked at him still pumping his dick in and out of you.
"What?" You asked and took Fermins jaw to make him look up at you. He stopped his movements and looked up at you.
"What did you say?" Your voice sounding unsure, in that second Fermin realised what he said and his eyes widened.
"Nothing" He tried to ignore you and went back to thrusting inside of you, harder and faster this time but you stopped him again.
"Fermin stop, talk to me." You told him and he immediately stopped again. "What did you say?"
"Nothing"
"Shit Fermin I know you said I love you." You told him while you sat up and pulled a blanket over your legs.
Fermin opened his mouth but no words came out. He had to think everything he wanted to say through. "I don't know why, it's just- its just everytime I look at you I get this funny feeling." He explained, while the only thing you did was cover your mouth with your hand and look to the side.
"Fer we agreed to sex onl-" You began but he cut you off.
"Obviously we did, do you think I chose to fall inlove with you when you're literally leaving for Poland soon?" Fermin raised his voice a bit which made you look back at him.
"I don't know what to say honestly." You shrugged your shoulders and then looked away again.
"Listen I-" This time you cut off Fermin.
"I think you should go home." You told him and Fermins mouth opened slightly. He looked away for a second before making eye contact with you again.
"But-" He began but then stopped mid sentence. "Okay, I'll see you later." He gave you a faint smile while he grabbed his things and went towards the door. You flashed him an awkward smile and then watched him leave the bedroom.
THE NEXT DAY
"You have to tell him that you like him too." Luca whispered to you and you raised your head immediately to cover up his mouth with your hand.
"Are you mentally alright? Don't say that when he's right across the room?!" You whispered back aggressively and he laughed a little bit.
"Why won't you tell him though, you got the conformation that he loves you back." Luca still tried to convince you ans eventually you released an annoyed sigh.
"I'm afraid to start something with him that I cannot finish if I have to go back to Poland soon" You said and Luca furrowed his brows while he thought of a solution.
"Just stay here then" He shrugged his shoulders as he suggested. Your eyes widened and you gave him a look.
"You think its that easy? I dont have the money to live here, let alone afford something anywhere in the world." You admitted to which Luca reacted with a smile.
"Ask him to stay at his place until you can afford your own." Your classmate turned his head to face you and you looked back at him.
"You're not completely sane, I'm telling you." You mumbled while shaking your head, he laughed a little bit at your words.
You sighed deeply and then looked at Fermin across the classroom who was writing something on his paper. "I will talk to him."
"Hey Fer," Fermin turned around as soon as he heard you call his name. "can we talk?" You asked.
"Yeah, what's up" Fermin seemed closed off to you, he was even a bit awkward when talking to you.
"Can we go back to your place maybe? Just somewhere private." You suggested and he quickly nodded, then he turned around and you both got into his car. This is not the first time people from uni see you getting into Fermins car.
The drive to his place was quiet, awkward and uncomfortable. Not only for you but for him too. So when you arrived at his place, immediately you went inside and sat down on his couch. You weren't at his place that often because he preferred to stay at yours rather than at his.
So when he sat down next to you, you let out a heavy sight but he cut you off before you were able to even begin talking.
"I'm sorry, I know falling in love with you was a mistake when we agreed to only have sex, but you're so-" Fermin rushed his words until you said something.
"I love you too." Fermin however ignored you and kept talking.
" but you're so loveable and you always make me smile and- wait... what?" Fermin realized what you just told him, you wore a cheeky smile on your lips as his jaw dropped.
"You love me too?" He questioned to which you responded with a nod. "You love me too!" He jumped up in joy and opened up his arms. You smiled while standing up and hugging him back. He kept swinging with you in his arms from side to side and you couldn't help but smile.
"That means I can't let you go back to Poland." Fermin pulled back by an inch to look at you.
"If you'll ask me to, I'll never visit Poland again."
After what had gone down you started viewing Abby in a different light entirely, now cold were the arms she wraps around you late at night, the weather was much warmer then how her embrace felt.
She’ll come home smelling of this awful floral perfume when you wore yours in sandalwood and honey. Unfortunately the both of you are on your way to meet with Jerry for the weekly family gathering, on any of the previous ones you would’ve had fun but not now, not after what she did.
Today you woke up with dread filling your body, usually the first thing you feel is the warmth of her body against yours but you can hear her murmuring under her breath.
“make sure to not say anything about what happened last week” she says as she’s tying her bolo tie in front of the mirror in your shared bedroom, the sun peaking through the sheer curtains and reflecting on her french braided hair.
you catch her eyes over your shoulder while you put your light cream boots on “wouldn’t dream of it, don’t worry i already learned the consequences of my actions” your sarcastic tone wasn't news to her— you stand up just to find her face close to yours, hovering over your frame.
“ Did you though?....with that tone of yours it sounds the other way around t’ me” raising an eyebrow at you a dark look washes over her face with her eyes searching in yours for answers.
she closes the distance between you, brushing her cheek against yours—leaving no room for you to take a step back before she brings her cheek against yours, inhaling as much as she could she wraps her strong arms around the front of your neck engulfing your figure. whispering “be nice or else-”
cutting her off “or else what?” A look of hatred all over your face is something you never imagined looking at her with, the love of your life, someone who you thought wanted you, And only you.
smirking at you menacingly “you certainly won’t like the outcome” from where the both of you are standing she looks at the door that leads to the living room where the shotgun is, before giving you a knowing look.
“Oh- and also, a few of my dad’s acquaintances will be there for dinner so make sure to look your best baby” kissing the side of your head she goes back to getting ready, putting the final touches of wearing her trustee black cowboy hat.
Holding yours you follow her. Choosing to stay silent but now it’s ailing you cause Jerry always likes to keep it in the family when it comes to gatherings and outings. Unless she told him something, you choose to brush it off before loading up in Abby's red truck, highly aware of what’s under the seat. Biting your nails she glances at you trying to pay attention to the road with one hand on the steering wheel. “Oh for fuck sa-” reaching out to hold your hand that you’re busy gnawing on.
You flinch, your whole body tensing up when she looks at your face. Seeing the look that she once promised to never be the reason for, blasted all over it “ ‘m not gonna hit you” rubbing her forefingers against the balm of your hand “just’ stop…please” the switch up was crazy and it prompted the lines to start blurring up in your mind, you decide to look outside disassociating as you passed by the big trees and farms thinking that whoever she's been seeing behind your back might live on one of these lands.
Pulling up Jerry's farmhouse you can see his horses roaming freely and a couple of bodyguards in working attire pass by the truck nodding their heads at Abby like some obedient puppets. She passes by them and parks her truck right behind Jerry's, killing the engine. Abby opens the door trying to come and open yours for you but you open it on your own in a haste.
Standing with her arm stretched in front of you, you hear Jerry's heavy footsteps, staring her down before giving her your back and painting a big smile on your face as you walk up the porch where he’s standing with his arms stretched wide open for you with a cigarette dangling off of his left hand “ohh here comes my favourite kid” you try to laugh Hugging him back in a shallow hug. You go on to stand to the side whilst he hugs abby just the same
“Hmph alright..hey dad” smacking her back twice before pulling away and ushering the both of you inside.
“C’mon i need the both of you to meet my new business partner”
Walking into the very expensively decorated living room, funny you’ve already been here many times before marrying Abby with your uncle and also had your wedding in the very spacious backyard but it never stops amusing you how put together it is being kept. You hear the sounds of no more than two people in the dining area, one of them giggling softly with her back towards the both of you.
when you feel Abby slither her hand on your waist to rest there casually without looking at you when the full bearded man notices the three of you walking towards them he starts addressing jerry.
“And here i thought ya’ bailed on me”
“Who me? Isn’t that a dream a’ yours eugene??” they share a chuckle before he turns around and puts his hand on your shoulder. your father in law starts speaking again “this is my very special daughter in law right ‘ere and that's eugene linden my former friend and now work partner” he finally addresses the big elephant in the room which frankly is the prettiest girl with short red auburn hair, the deepest green for eyes and reddest of lips you’ve ever seen.
“Here is his daughter Sara Linden” she takes a glance at Abby noticing how she’s turning fidgety all of a sudden beside you and tips her root beer glass at the both of you in greetings.
smiling back at her tightly you choose to ignore the odd feeling you got from the way she looked at your wife feeling as if you’re missing something—after a moment of silence eugene beckons the both of you to take a seat at the table, you sit beside abby which also puts you facing sara with jerry at the head of the food filled table.
“Sara here has her own company” already at it was jerry when Abby clears her throat and looks across the table at her in an interestingly faux surprise “oh- interesting”. putting your hand on Abby's thigh you act as if nothing is seemingly wrong. you can see her looking at you through your peripheral vision but choose to not look at her, too entranced by the one across the table trying to pinpoint why you feel something is odd. You try to chime in “wow that’s actually amaz-“ just to end up getting cut off by her
“it is! couldn’t imagine doing it any other way luckily i have a supportive family and all that..i’m sure you know quite a lot about family huh?”
Trying to stay composed you can feel abby smirk, the air feels dry and you can feel yourself heaving and your blood boiling. Instead of lashing out you take Abby's left hand and put it on the table to showcase your rings with a bright fake smile.
“Oh my- of course i do..i know plenty as you can see”
Jerry looks at you with a proud look-maybe he does have a soft spot for you- and it just sends your mind spiraling over if Abby's words about her father siding with her had an ounce of truth. maybe you’ll rat her out and see where it goes from there.
“ Now who wouldn’ dream of a daughter in law like mine??” he starts laughing with eugene while sara is glaring at your -still- intertwined hands.
Abby puts her hand on top of yours, patting it twice before pulling away, busying herself with opening another beer bottle. Taking big gulps while you’re still looking at your hand on the table. Seeing Sara looking at you smugly followed by a condescending look.
Eugene and Jerry are in their own world talking about god knows what whilst nursing their beers, the sun is setting and sounds of fireflies buzzing is filling the western humid air. and you can’t help but feel the boredom seeping in.
-
after saying your farewells and goodbyes you’re already halfway to your farm with abby who insisted to drive whilst tipsy when you offered your help, but ooh god forbid she lets you do anything talking all about how she’s ’not that drunk’
trying to put a stop to it “abigail let me drive..the car is literally swayi-”
she glances at you with crazed eyes “oh shut up you fucking slut!” she lands a punch on the steering wheel setting the horn off making you flinch. “don’t even fucking breathe or so god help me” pointing at you.
you roll your eyes at her, turning your back to her,paying no mind to your wife–still– going off at you. noticing how quiet the world is outside of the big car. when a strong fist connects with your face at wild speed. prompting your ear to ring loudly and all you can hear is the loud ringing. It's like the world stopped for a minute, nothing is moving but the trees and the cold air wafting against your burning skin.
a few minutes passed when she finally pulls up to your quiet farm, still in your shock you question how this is the first time she ever actually landed a hit on you, yes she did threaten you but never did she actually do it, trying to catch your bearings, the both of you sitting quietly in the car, blood boiling— you get out of the car. Smacking the door of her beat up truck as hard as you can.
You open the door running straight into the bedroom locking the door behind you.
Taking full strides behind you but facing none other the locked door was Abby “C’mon you can’t do that!” pounding on the door full force, whilst you try to scramble anything you own putting it into your barrel bag that you usually used for when she had work far away from home and you had to tag along. Trying to breathe deeply and ignore her yelling from the other side of the door,heading into the bathroom to check on your bruise, standing in front of the mirror with tears brimming your eyes. You spit in the sink feeling the iron taste fill your mouth, call it whatever you wanted to call it but you had to get out of there..before you ended up 6 feet under somewhere unknown in this godforsaken farm.
Opening the door with the bag in your right hand, you try to hide it behind your back. But she instantly finds it “oh no baby please no-” with knotted brows trying to hold your face in her hands you winch when her left hand rubs the bruise. You whisper “let me go abigi-”
Shaking her head in defiance tears filling her eyes.
“ i did nothing wrong don’t do this”
“You finally did it abby..look at this” pointing at your face you try to search for remorse in her eyes, anything that tells you she’s sorry for what she did..you find nothing.
“You had it coming!” she holds your hair in her fists bringing your face closer to her’s
“look at me” leaning her forehead against yours“Abigail no” you whisper—faint murmurs of her begging you is all you can hear. finally looking into her eyes that are brimming red with them beautiful pouty lips you’ve grown to love and ache for, but you know there’s no going back after this.
“i’ll just..go to dina’s for a while hm?”
“we can talk this ou-”
“just for a few days please abby” you beg “i need this” you try to put your hand on top of hers to make her ease up the harsh hold she’s got on your hair. She scoffs “and what am i supposed to do huh?” thrashing her arms around she throws a vase that is next to her on the floor, shattering it into pieces.
she pauses “Fine alright you can go..it’ll do us some good” searching her eyes “really?” she hums, turning her back towards you with finality.
“i’ll drop you off..c’mon” picking the bag you walk behind her towards the door whilst questioning what came down onto her that made her change her mind. She turns abruptly “on a second thought tho-” before you know it she has the side of your head in her palm and smashes it against the wall. And before you can react everything turns dark.
-
The sun is shining through the curtains furiously, you try to open your burning eyes. Just to find a man with his back facing you in a suit with a lab coat on standing at the door with a bag clutched in his hand talking to Abby whom still didn't notice you stirring awake in the bed you've been tucked into neatly, no longer in your clothes from the previous day -or was it days?- with an IV connected to your wrist. Wincing at the horrible pain you’re feeling on the side of your head and cheeks you try to catch your bearings, listening to what the man is whispering.
“Does your father know of this?”
“No he doesn't…and don't you dare gale”
“Just cause i owe ya’ one” she puts her arm on his shoulder in silent thanks, he nods before he walks out of the door silently. Trying to fake sleeping you close your eyes shut tightly hoping she’ll just not talk to you or call out your bluff.
Staying still you hear the clattering of things around and what seems to be Abby putting on her jacket followed by the thudding of her boots—shes murmuring under her breath and you can hear a faint harsh “fuck” spat right out of her mouth like venom. The door closes behind her and of course she locks the door shut twice. you open your eyes, trying to regulate your heart that's hammering inside your rib cage, making an effort you know you shouldn’t do.
you sit up slowly trying to get accustomed to the harsh lighting. Looking around the bedroom thinking of a way to get out of this hell, in a moment of irrationality you pull the iv needle as fast as you can-gasping at the pinch of pain—you get out of the bed, taking small steps towards the bathroom.
Standing in front of the mirror you think to yourself that your eyes must be deceiving you, your face looks very foreign. A bruise on your cheek with a split lip, followed with a feeling of lightheaded-ness prompting you to clutch the sink with your life. Shaking yourself awake you splash some water on your face. Knowing full well you can’t just sit still and wait till your wife comes back and ends you, it never ends well once it starts.
Calling Dina from the landline phone, you bite your nails. You don't know where abby’s gone and all you can do is hope that she doesn't come back before Dina gets here-if she would even pick up- she does interrupting you clattered thoughts “hey?”
Getting choked up upon hearing her voice you can hear Ellie in the background asking her who it is whilst JJ seems to be fussing. “Dina” whispering as you try to find your voice and failing miserably-She calls your name “breathe f’ me” you try doing as she says. Tears well up in your eyes.
“what happened?..where’s your useless wife now!?”
“Dina p-please can you-” you take a moment sniffing and trying to not think of it and the sudden cruelty that must’ve been brewing all of the past months. “and Ellie come pick m-me up?”
She replies instantly “yes of course..hang in there we’ll be there in a second”
“t-thank you dee” wiping the tears off of your cheeks-you hang up before getting up and opening the closet, taking the first thing you see and putting it on all whilst trying to keep your ears on the door—for if Abby shows up, you see the bag tucked neatly under the bed and take it out thanking god she didn’t put everything you've packed back or else you’d have to leave without anything. Tears are still streaming down your face, wetting your white shirt.
Sitting at the edge of the bed you look around—contemplating if this is the right thing to do.
it hurts physically to admit but you’ve always loved Abby and you’ve always imagined growing old next to her. She made you laugh and was the absolute most loving wife..until she cheated. You never asked if her cheating was emotional but based on the kiss that was on her collar you can tell there was more than just that happening. Maybe it’s time she understood the loss of your love and affection, fuck the consequences and to hell with what Jerry would think of you, he might even send someone searching-you’re well aware of what happens to those who choose to stay-it becomes a non-ending cycle.
A few minutes pass by whilst you’re engrossed with your thoughts before the sound of a car pulling into the driveway fills your ears, jumping on your feet in quick movement that nearly knocks you down just as fast as you stood. Praying that it isn’t Abby you clutch the bag in your arms before walking reluctantly towards the only window in the room-which is facing the driveway- just to see Dina followed by Ellie get out of the car with A look of fear blasted all over their faces.
You start knocking on the window frantically, Ellie noticing your face and -the bruise clear as day- her mouth moving in whispers calling out to Dina whose hand was close to knocking the door. You can hear her muffled words in anger “fucking Abigail-” wiping her face in distraught she gives Ellie a look and a nod towards the car, the taller brunette goes to the backseat taking out what seems to be a club hammer and you can already understand what she’ll be doing-taking ten steps back into the bedroom-
Your mind wanders to Abby, she could come back anytime now and it’ll get more severe. The history that went down between Ellie and Abby was bad and lasted until Abby isolated you and made up plans out of her head whenever you’ve voiced that Dina invited you to her house or any of that sorts. She was very adamant on making you exist as hers and have no other friends-unless it’s her-
The sound of glass shattering fills your ears prompting you to curl inwards against the wall—flashes from the other day filling your vision, Ellie helps Dina step in, who sprints towards you and you can’t help but break down in tears when she hugs you tight, rubbing your back.
“What did she fucking do now? Hm?” in a tone of concern, you can sense how hard she’s trying to stay calm with the way she’s rubbing up and down your arms in consolation. Shaking your head “what didn’t she do?” your voice breaking in agony. Ellie notices the bag in your hand-taking it without a word- pursing her lips in anger “that bitch-we need to get you out of here c’mon”
Gnawing at your lips you can’t take the idea of Abby coming after you out of your mind whilst trying not to dissociate. Dina helps you jump out the window and into the open green field-taking full strides- you get in the car hastily—praying that the blonde doesn’t come back now. Shaking you out of your trance is Dina's hand holding yours from the front seat. You look into the rear view mirror where she looks at you in reassurance.
That's how Dina always was with you, the most caring, loving, understanding. Even after telling her about Abby who always had a pristine history-she still wasn't getting it-but was very considerate about how you felt for your wife. When you showed her the engagement ring she and Ellie gave you the talk-if you were hundred percent sure of your choice- she even took a step further and went with you to pick your wedding attire.
The further the car goes the louder your heart beats against your rib cage-sensing yourself hyperventilating-you try to take deep breaths. Seeing your friends mouths move but unable to hear them clearly, you feel the need to claw at your throat. You can make out Ellie mouthing at you to breathe deep, blinking frantically. All you can see is red, vision going foggy before Dina is suddenly beside you in the backseat whispering in your ear “breathe f’ me” looking at her with tears brimming your eyes with her arm looped around you rocking you left and right, she starts taking deep breaths and it isn't that long before you start following her steps, feeling your ears pause the ringing. “ ‘m good now” you nod sniffing.
Ellie looks back “if she ever comes back i’ll kill her”
“Hell i’ll do it first” Dina retorts with her arms still around you, she glances at you before averting her eyes to the moving road outside “we’re with you” she promises.
“Thank you..the both of y’all” you whisper.
looking back at the farm. observing everything that has gone down in your memory, the marriage, the love and all the growth—all of that for nothing?..
Abigail Anderson..oh how soft and warm inside saying her name made you feel, as if every time you said it and mentioned her you fell more and more in love with her. saying it now makes the hole in your heart expand with hatred and dread.
“oh hell no” Ellie spits out when you notice what she’s talking about. Abby's truck is tailing ellie’s at a dangerous speed. you try to duck down the seat—you can feel your knees weaken. Looking into Dina's eyes “She’s gonna kill me” comes out in a choked whisper.
“Oh i’d love to see her try”
“The bitch knows where we live but don’t you worry”
“Dina baby grab the pistol f’ me”
She does as told by her wife, kneeling and taking said pistol out of the compartment under the chair, checking the glove,which seems to be loaded. A look of terror passes your face-yes you’ve thought and tried to kill Abby but now the possibilities are endless and honestly Dina would take one for you and do it with no hesitations-in the end her and Ellie have Joel and he is no easy man for Abby to try and hurt his daughter and daughter-in-law.
Soon enough Ellie is pulling up to their farm, you’ve been here a handful of times before you married Abby and once after you married her and it was hell because you had to beg her for a whole week to let you visit them and promise you’ll never ask anymore-which you never did afterwards. And every time you saw Dina and Abby was with you she'd tell you that you’re leaving-without even letting you say your goodbyes she’d yank your arm straight to the car. Making you very embarrassed and the next day you’ll call Dina to apologize.
Abby parks right behind Ellie in front of the house, before getting out of the car and coming to ellie's side of the car, tapping twice on the window. Ellie sighs—rolling her eyes before complying.
“Anderson” tapping her fingers against the steering wheel
“Cut the bullshit Williams i know damn well she's there with you”
“Uhh no she isn’t??”
“Yes the fuck she is” going as far as trying to open the car door and side track the brunette-Ellie locking it just as quick. “Not very quick Abigail..gotta work on that” she chuckles in your wife’s face whilst you’re trying to stay silent. Dina breathes before preparing and when Abby takes two steps back. Dina taps Ellie's shoulder to open the lock. Getting out of the door she tucks the pistol in her pants. Walking up to the other one in full strides.
She growls “You fucked up Abigail..big time fucker!”
“Oh c’mon she just fell”
“As if I'll believe your lies” she spits
“How many times did I tell you if you hurt her I'll kill you? Hm??”
The blonde folds her arms in defiance “she’s my fucking wife! I’ll do whatever the fuck i please to her”
Getting fed up you open the door punching your wife in the face as hard as you could, wincing when it hurts your knuckles instead, Ellie gets out of the car after killing the engine.
“You need to leave Anderson, you’re not welcome around here”
“Not without what belongs to me” she glances at you
Dina holds your face in her hand “look at what you did! Is this the way we treat what belongs to us??”
“She’s not going with you”
“Just leave Abby” tears stream down your cheeks “you disgust me”
“And i’ll send you the papers in the mail..make sure to sign them”
“Oh she will” Dina looks at Abby with her nose high.
“Are you out of your mind?” You can see a vein pop in Abby's forehead.
“I’ll always love what we had..but you broke it apart with your own paws”
Abby tries to walk your way—getting stopped when Ellie puts her gun cladded hand on Abby's stomach. “I think you heard her” raising an eyebrow at her “my dad will never allow you to tarnish our marriage” she spits in your friends faces “that’s questionable..oh my! we can go dad for dad how about that Anderson??” she says sarcastically
“Goodbye Abigail” you say in finality. Dina puts her arm around your shoulder-walking you inside their humble farmhouse, Ellie follows after shoving Abigail out the way.
a few weeks passed after what had gone down at your friend's farm—you’re still staying with them. You’ve promised to find a place as quick as you could but got brushed off by Dina saying that it’s best if you continue to stay with them.
You never know when Abigail—whom still didn’t sign the papers..will find a way to nudge herself back into your life. The bruises she gave you look dark and purple-ish as of now, you knew it’ll take some time to heal but also it’s a matter of time until someone sees it and then everyone living within a five-mile radius will know about what your wife has done to you.
“There’s a gathering in the bar today to celebrate miss moo’s 85th birthday” Dina says, shaking you out of the trance you’ve been in “i think you should come with us”
looking down at your hands. “I don't know dee..”
“it’s alright, take your time, but it’ll be a nice change hm? you haven’t been out since that day”
you nod at her from your place at the dining table. looking down at yourself you can see how unkempt you look, maybe it is a good change..hoping nothing bad would happen you make up your mind. Going ahead and taking a cold shower, you wear your usual attire with a button up shirt and a pair of jeans alongside your working boots. making sure to not forget your hat.
maybe it’ll steer their eyes away from the bruises.
-
the ride to the bar was an easy quick one, the bar is well known and everyone around the block frequents it—if there’s any gatherings it’s always done in this bar, owned by Tommy Miller and his wife maria. Even before you’ve grown into who you are now, you used to spend time with Ellie and Dina in this bar watching movies and eating popcorn for free until it was too late to go home—sometimes waking up with Tommy standing with his arms crossed looking down at your guilty—and very hungover faces.
Ellie parks her truck in front of the yellow lit bar which seems to be buzzing with people inside and out—you breathe in..and out holding on for dear life, before heading in with your head low.
The country music was bellowing all across the bar, with Tommy and Joel tending to everyone else you can make out Maria chatting with one of the regular’s to your right.
Ellie chimes “i gotta catch up with the big boss..just a sec’ ” prompting you and Dina to nod before taking your usual table—which all of you agreed upon as teenagers and now has your initials carved into the table top.
“It’ll be real nasty if she showed up here” you mutter
She chuckles before responding “Well it’ll be out of character if she didn’t”
“She’s obsessed” Ellie puts the three beers down before sliding into the chair next to Dina putting her arm on the back of Dina's and you can’t help but notice—now that’s one thing you won’t be able to experience because of her actions.
From your place at the table you see the door open up and lo and behold, none other than Abigail Anderson walks in, all polished up like a mare of a distinctive breed with her hair put in a neat braid—shame she couldn’t be as loyal as horses were. Waltzing in like she owned the place before.. “what the actual fu-” Dina spits out, of course this is the “lady” and it’s Sara.
Everyone around the bar is looking at Abby and her new plaything, some with disgust, some in amusement. Your mind can’t help but wander to her dad and you know too well that he cares too much for his legacy and reputation to allow his daughter to marry a fickle girl like the one that has her hand in your soon-to-be ex-wife’s hand. He tried to come see you but was faced with a very pissed Dina and Joel.
You can see Joel go up to Abby and treat her like any other customer, you also can see Abby smirk at him before telling him what she and her plaything wants which he responds to by pursing his lips into a thin line. When Sara seems to be searching for someone and her eyes fall right on you, prompting you to lift your hat for her to see your face clear as day— a look of fear that gets just as quickly concealed by smugness passes through her face.
Dina tries to jump up before you stop her in her tracks, you shake your head in defiance making her reddened angry face soften and her shoulder’s relax a bit before she mutters “i’m so sorry” you hold her hand in yours “you don’t need to dee” a sad smile graces your face.
“It’s only a matter of time..i feel it in my bones”
Ellie chuckles “amen to that huh?” before taking a few gulps of her beer followed by you doing the same—with a very well concealed heartache bellowing between your rib cage.
Enhypen: The type of...
Tumblr media
☆ enhypen masterlist ☆ ...partner ☆ requested: no ☆ warning(s): stage names are used, silent treatment is given ☆ genre: fluff, slight angst ☆ requests are open!
៚ Heeseung
to get jealous very easily
to leave you sticky notes in the bathroom for you to read when you wake up
It had started years ago, when the two of you had just started dating. The very first night he had slept over, he had to leave early the next morning. So before he left, he wrote you a little note. Telling you how much he cared for you and how much he appreciated you. When you had gotten up that morning, you saw the note. You absolutely loved it. When he had gotten home that night, you tackled him, peppering him in kissed all over his face. "What's all this about? Not that I don't love it." You explained it all to him. His whole face lit up, hearing you gush about how much you loved it was enough to get him to do it everyday, just to see you smile.
៚ Jay
to spoil you constantly!
to appreciate when you do little things for him.
You had been wanting those rings since the first day you laid your eyes on them. They were beautiful but you could not get yourself to justify the price. There was no way in hell you were going to be buying them. But every time you walked past that store, you saw them in the window, hoping one day you would save enough to get them. Jay had known you'd been dreaming about the day you'd have them. So one day, after you had come home from work, he had surprised you with them. "You deserved them. You'd been wanting them forever so, I got them for you."
៚ Jake
to get pouty when he doesn't get his way
that knows how to push your buttons
You had a busy day today. Your social battery was running pretty close to empty. So to say you were feeling a little over stimulated was an understatement. As soon as Jake had heard the front door open, he was right there, excited to see you home. "Did you miss me today?" he asked right away, you told him yes. After answering one question, they just kept coming. Things like "want to watch a movie?", "who's turn is it to cook tonight?", "do you want to go to target right now with me?" You just needed a minute to yourself. Just to recharge a little bit. When you told him this, he was a little hurt and you could see it on his face. You felt so incredibly guilty about it. You apologized and explained in a nicer way of how you needed space for a bit to charge up. He nodded his head understanding you completely, "After your done...can we watch a movie together?" You smiled, ruffling his hair, "Of course we can."
៚ Sunghoon
to need to have breakfast, lunch or dinner with you everyday. even if it's on facetime and he's on the other side of the world.
to get upset if you don't take his call
He had been gone for a little less than a week. He was away for something for work. You had been left at home due to not being able to take those days off from work. And boy, oh, boy, how he missed you so. He would call you every day during his lunch time and your dinner time. This was the way you both bonded. "How was your day? Tell me what happened." You asked, taking a bite of the plate of food in front of you. "Well, Jay..." He started yapping about every little detail of his day. You really loved this time.
៚ Sunoo
to get pouty when he isn't getting the attention he wants
he's your passenger princess
You had been super busy with work. You didn't have much time with anything else. Things were getting a bit hectic lately. Sunwoo began to feel a little neglected about you not giving him attention lately. So, he sat down in your office with you and began to whine about how he was feeling as he played with your hair. You turned around, taking his face in your hands, "I'm sorry." You apologized, "Tell you what, I'll stop for today and we can go have a picnic out in the field today." You shut down your computer to prove you were serious and he immediately lit up and was super excited.
៚ Jungwon
to spoil you rotten, too
cuddling every night before bed is an absolute must for him.
The air conditioning had broken in your shared house. It had been out for a few days. The heat was getting to be out of control. You didn't want to even sleep under the blankets tonight it was so hot. Jungwon on the other hand didn't seem to mind all that much because he was right there clinging to you like a koala. It was much too hot for that and you told him so. He didn't take it too well and became really pouty. You decided to compromise and hold his hand for the night instead, he seemed to be happy with that because next thing you knew he was out like a light.
៚ Ni-Ki
loves to give you a hard time about literally anything you do
but at the same time gets upset when you don't say you love him back
He hadn't spoken to you since yesterday night before bed. He was definitely upset with you about something. You could not figure it out though. Initially, you thought you'd forgotten about a date you had set but you hadn't. Maybe you forgot your anniversary? No, that wasn't for a few more months...And then it clicked. You forgot to tell him you loved him before bed. You smiled, cuddling into him and telling him how much you loved him. "Oh so you figured it out?" you nodded, giving him puppy dog eyes, fully knowing he'd be buttered up by it and take the apology. "Don't forget again."
Tumblr media
You were absolutely exhausted. A 2 week mission with only 3 hours of sleep total takes an intense toll, even if you are a super soldier. Letting the burning hot water run down your back , flashes of the recent mission ran through your mind. The experiment files were horrific, so many deaths, so many children.
You had only been at the compound for about a year and a half now, the team rescuing you from Hydra’s control like Bucky. You were free of the brainwash but not of the memories and this long ass mission had brought it all right back to the surface. It was getting better, your in therapy, bonding with the team, learning how to control your strength, your growing. But this mission, feels like it’s all about to come crumbling down. It made you feel sick. Thoughts of losing yourself, the team… of losing, Natasha, it burned your throat.
What you have with Natasha is confusing, complicated, but nice. No one else knows the true nature of it but you two. Falling into each others beds continuously for the past 8 months, staying tangled in each other, every single night, cuddling, and giggling like little teen girls. The team simply thought you guys were close friends, both you two being spies, it wasn’t too hard to hide your extracurriculars. But you both knew it was more, so much more. You held each other in the most gentlest ways…the most loving, opting not to leave one another when you guys inevitably came undone. In front of the team, you had a front, a quiet brooding one, but with her, it was peaceful, relieving, you felt free, like yourself. It was absolutely terrifying.
Not realizing it tears were beginning to mix with the water running down your face and crescent marks formed in your palms from clenching your fists too hard. You love her. You’re in love with her, but how could you tell her, would you. Your whole life you’ve been used as a weapon, serving for the military, then hydra. You were dangerous…a monster. It was late, almost 2 am, you couldn’t go to her now, she need rest, not a burden. no matter how much you yearned for her warmth. Turning off the burning water, you stepped out into the steam filled bathroom. Drying off, you wrapped the towel around your waist and another draped over your shoulders, you opened the door to your bedroom-on your bed sat Nat. Dark circles surrounded her eyes, her hair was slightly ruffled, she wore an old shirt of yours, and some of her loose sleep shorts. She looked absolutely stunning, you couldn’t help but give a soft tired smile.
“hi.” she spoke softly with a matching smile.
“hi,” you answered stopped in place just taking her in.
“you gonna get dressed,” she smirked tiredly, “tho i don’t mind.”
“oh really” you joked walking over to her and cupping her face as she looked up at you, “i missed you,” you spoke softly the tiredness bringing out a transparency.
She leaned into your hand closing her eyes, “i missed you,” she answered. Your heart swelled and the flashes came back, you could hurt her, what if you lose it. Suddenly taking a step back her cheek still warm from your touch, her eyes flew open. You turned your back, getting dressed by your closet, “is everything okay,” she asked as you pulled your tank top over your head and braced yourself against your dresser.
You opened your mouth unsure what you wanted her to know, “yeah,” was all you could muster.
“I really did miss you,” she walked up behind you wrapping her arms around your waist and leaning her check against your back, just enjoying your smell, “i don’t sleep well without you anymore.”
“me either,” you turned around wrapping your own arms around her middle and looking to the side as hers went to your neck, “it was a rough mission,” you mumbled
“oh, baby,” she spoke, moving her hands to your face this time, “look at me please,” your eyes were burning with unshed tears as they met her soft deep green ones, “oh, my love, it’s okay,” she brought your head down to her shoulder as you released a shaky breath and let your arms fall from around her waist, “is there something else,” she asked dropping her own hands. You walked past her to sit on the bed not really sure where to start as you looked at your hands in your lap, “we don’t have to talk about it, it’s okay,” she spoke sitting beside you and gently take your hands in her own.
You finally looked back at her face, your eyes still glossy. You stared deep into each others eyes, “you’re so beautiful, Natasha,” you said memorizing every detail of her. She laughed quietly as a soft blush rose to her face.
“Shut up,” she said putting her forehead against hers.
She closed her eyes at the action as yours remained open, “I mean it, you’re the prettiest girl there is.”
Her blush grew as she pulled back and looked away slightly, “god i love you,” she mumbled out casually bringing shock to both your faces. She immediately pulled her hands away and stood from the bed, her mouth opening and closing unsure what to say as you looked at her, overwhelmed with emotions, “y/n i’m sorry i-“
“You do?” you asked getting up from the bed with her, “you love me?”
“I..” She spoke uncertain, taking a deep breath in, “y/n i’m in love with you.” You laughed slightly in disbelief. You moved towards her with purpose grabbing her waist and pulling her into a bruising kiss, pouring every amount of love into it as possible, like it was the last time, like you were consumed by everything Natasha. You both grinned wide into the kiss, forcing the two of you to break apart.
Taking a deep breath, “Tasha, I..,” the thoughts all came rushing back. Your going to hurt her, you don’t deserve this love, your going to lose it all.
She moved her hands down from your neck to intertwine with your own, “I know,” she whispered.
“I really do,” you said, your foreheads still pressed together, “I..,” your mouth fell open and closed absolutely terrified to say something wrong, “Im just scared,” you mumbled, closing your eyes, but never dropping your hold.
“Don’t be,” she answered, moving her hands back up to cup your face, “we’re in this together.”
@steddiemas week 3 - Eggnog, Baking, Sweater, Pine
rating: T | words: 1,670
this isn't late idk what you're talking about
<- back to previous part | next part ->
Tumblr media
The feeling of Steve’s lips on his cheek haunts him for days after Steve helped him decorate.
Every time he looks at the tree, every time he sits down on the couch, hell, if he even looks at that damn spot in front of the couch, he can feel Steve’s kiss.
And now, a week later, he’s on his way to Steve’s house to help with his decorating.
“You’re abnormally quiet.” Max says, startling Eddie out of another round of Steve Kiss Reminisce (good thing too, as this one had started to push on past the first chaste cheek kiss into Steve lips on his neck, his collarbone, his ches—), “Hello?? Earth to Munson?”
“Shut up. Sorry, What?”
“What are you thinking so hard about?”
“The next campaign.” he answers immediately.
She squints at him from behind her coke-bottle glasses, “Uh huh. Sure you were.”
“I was! Gotta figure out this new royal character…”  he argues, pulling into the Harringtons’ driveway, “He can’t just be any ol’ Joe Schmoe.”
Max scoffs as Eddie shifts into park, unbuckling her belt at the same time she’s opening the door. “Yeah okay.”
Eddie swears he hears her mumble something else, but it’s too quiet. Something that sounded a lot like “As if it’s gonna be anything but a Steve clone..” but that couldn’t be.
He follows her to the front door, catching up to her when the door opens in front of them.
“Wow, it smells great in here.” Max says, marching through the door like she owns the place
“Steve’s been baking since he woke up,” Robin says, ushering Eddie through the door behind her, “He’s super excited about this cheesecake recipe he found, and has been making truckloads of gingerbread.”
“And roast!” Steve calls as Eddie wrestles his boots off his feet without untying the laces.
“And roast,” Robin echoes, “It’s been taunting me with its smells for the last four hours.”
Steve emerges from one of the kitchen doors as Eddie finally removes his boots, a mug in each of his hands, “Eggnog or hot cocoa, Ed?”
Eddie about folds at the sight of him. Maroon sweater today instead of the yellow one that haunts both his dreams and nightmares, plain white apron tied snug to his waist, fuckin’ flour smeared on his cheek and in his hair..
“Nog me up, big boy,” he says, super chill-like, reaching for the mug that isn’t streaming steam into the air.
Steve snorts a laugh and passes him the mug, ushering him and Robin back into the living room after Max.
The living room looks like Christmas threw up all over it.
The tree is only maybe a third of the way built, one of those put-together-yourself artificial trees that, given how wide around it is even now, will certainly be close to scraping the ceiling by time it’s fully assembled.
There are boxes and totes and shiny tinsel garland strewn about everywhere, green gold and red ornaments that have many a’dollar on his and Wayne’s similarly colored collection, and an already impressive length of popcorn and cranberry garland that three of the boys are working on on the carpet.
Well, Lucas is working hard on it, Dustin seems to be helping by lining up the next pieces on the floor in front of Lucas (popcorn, popcorn, popcorn, cranberry, popcorn, popcorn, popcorn, cranberry..), while Mike sneaks handfuls of the stuff into his cheeks.
Robin plops onto her usual spot at one end of Steve’s couch, picking up a long mass of crinkled ribbon as she does, and Max sits in the recliner at one end of the room, taking the mug of hot chocolate Steve hands her once she’s settled.
“Joyce will be here with El and Will soon, and roast will be done in a couple hours so chop chop on that tree.”
None of the boys acknowledge him, so Eddie takes it upon himself to. “You got it boss, where do you want me?”
He busies himself with shedding his hat and jacket, completely missing the spluttering cough Steve does before responding. “You wanna help Mike finish assembling the tree?”
“On it Jefe,” Eddie says, spinning on his heel to salute Steve, following the spin around again to look down at Mike (still on the floor). “Let’s go Micycle, up and at ‘em.”
With plenty of colorful commentary, he and Mike manage to snap the monster of a tree together in almost no time at all.
The hooked ends of each branch are passed up to Mike on the ladder once it gets too tall for either of them to manage, and, in a bit of trivia that only Eddie is privy to now, Mike similarly gets entranced by ‘fixing’ the branches as Steve did with Eddie’s tree.
Robin’s gotten all the wire-edged ribbon un-crinkled, Lucas and Will are finishing up the last few feet of the garland, El and Dustin took on the task of laying out the ridiculous amount of lights and checking for blown bulbs, and Max has moved to the center cushion of the couch in order to lay out all the best ornaments and check that they all haven’t lost their hooks.
So, once the ladder is no longer needed, Eddie leaves Mike to his fluffing and moves to sit beside Max in Robin’s vacated spot closest to the tree.
This also gives him the perfect sightline to the kitchen where Steve is contentedly flitting about all over the kitchen, back and forth from sheets of cookies to the still simmering roast, and back again with a new colored frosting in hand.
Back and forth, back and forth, Eddie watches Steve move around the kitchen with the practiced ease only someone overly familiar with a space could have. Shit, if Eddie tried to move from one spot to the next like that in his kitchen? Well, one, there’s not that much room in his, but more imoportantly, he’s barely ever got a clue where one thing is on any one day, despite Wayne insisting he puts everything back in the exact same place.
…Whatever. All that to say that it’s quite entertaining, like watching him dance…
Should he join him? He could picture it sure, sliding into the room and being so familiar with the place that he and Steve have become one fluid machine..
Before his imagination has gone too far off the deep end (the Harringtons’ kitchen definitely did not just morph into a cramped and dingy but well-loved kitchen of a two bedroom apartment in Chicago, (he lies)), Eddie’s attention is yanked back with a sudden sharp tug at his hair.
“Ow! What the–” Eddie reaches to where the few strands had definitely been pulled free, only to find several somethings hooked into his hair. “What are you doing?”
He turns, and Max looks almost offended that he’s protesting. “I’m decorating the tree.”
”You may be blind, but you know damn well I'm not a tree, Maxine.” Eddie grumbles, trying to pull out the baubles and wincing when a hook gets stuck.
Instead of helping, Max hooks another ornament into his hair. “Might as well be with all the pining you’re doing.”
Eddie freezes, looks over at her, and sputters out a high pitched “What are you— no I’m n— he– I–” then leans in closer, “Again, I reiterate, you’re blind.. How the fuck do you know that?”
“You’re too quiet.” she shrugs, “Except the sighing. You’re doing a lot of sighing.”
Okay, fair, “How in the hell’d you know it was Steve?”
She gives him a shit eating grin.
Aw shit..
“I didn’t.” she grins, and Eddie’s mortified, but before he can even say anything, Max continues on with, “I’m kidding dude, I knew it was Steve. You always start sighing like a wife awaiting her husband’s return from war whenever he isn’t around; it’s even worse when he is…”
Eddie goes quiet for three whole seconds. “Well, I’m outta here.”
The others look up from their tasks “Wait, what?” Lucas asks at the same time Dustin says, “Eddie? Where’re you going?”
“I have to go lay down in the middle of the road before the 5:30 bus comes along.” he says, already at the door and tugging on his sneakers. “I’ve only got 3 minutes to get down onto Main Street.”
“Wh–”
“It comes down Cornwallis at 5:35, might be simpler to go there instead” Max calls after him
Eddie snaps his fingers and points in her direction, “You’re a real one, Mad Max. Well, It’s been great guys, but I’ve been embarrassed past the point of no return, and as such, I must never return. Aideau.”
He gives a fake little bow to the protesting gremlins and turns to the front door, only to find Steve standing against it, his arms crossed and face scowling.
“There will be no getting run over by buses on my watch, Munson. Get back in there, dinner’s almost ready.”
“...I don’t think the apron’s helping your tough guy schtick, Dingus.” Robin calls, very obviously trying to stifle laughter.
Steve ignores her, “Quit being so dramatic, Eddie, the ornaments aren’t that bad.”
Eddie forgot about the things to be completely honest, but Steve steps forward from the door, grabs him by the shoulders, and spins him back toward the still tinsel-covered mess of a living room, “Now get back to it, I’d like to have my tree done before Christmas.”
There’s a teasing tug at his hair, a shift of clothes, then one of Steve’s arms is wrapping over his shoulder and holding out a newly freed ornament for Eddie to take.
He does, and with a little nudge, Eddie’s back in the living room and Steve’s heading back to the kitchen.
There’s a short pause, Robin still doing her best not to laugh, the boys are thoroughly confused, then Max says, “Can I borrow that garland when you’re one with it? I just thought of a much better use for it.”
So uh. I had this super dumb idea and decided to roll with it.
Which I guess is kinda how writing works on the whole but anyway.
Here's the first chapter of a Young!Mihawk x Marine!AFAB Reader fic that absolutely no one asked for but my brain dumped on me anyway.
Whole first chapter is basically setting the scenario. Bear with me here. I intend for this to be both heartfelt and fcking hilarious in equal measure. As of right now I don't really have plans for it to carry on for more than three or four chapters, but who knows.
Timeline is set to around a decade after Gol D. Roger's death, prior to Mihawk having status as a Warlord of the Sea. He'd be in his late 20s to early 30s (don't ask me to math right now, it's almost five in the morning, I'll be more specific later). So not super-young Mihawk. He definitely already has his silly lil adorable pointy goatee/moustache that we all know and love so very much.
I don't even have a damned title yet. We'll just call it, uh. I don't know. Fucking uh........
Flight Risk
Ch. 1 of who even knows
Only a few months had passed since you enlisted with the Marines, and nothing seemed to be going right. You were clumsy with both melee and ranged weapons, not particularly strong physically, and while you had improved through training you weren’t learning at nearly the same rate as the other recruits. It was no help at all that your somehow borderline useless devil fruit abilities had somehow been exposed and you were now the target of constant torment from other cadets, and even some superior officers.
You almost wanted to give up entirely.
You spent most of your free time hiding away from your peers at an old dock on the base to avoid the teasing. It was here you say now, arms wrapped around your knees and glaring out toward the setting sun after another day of being squawked at and offered crackers. All because you had taken a stupid dare from a stupid friend when you were six years old and eaten that stupid fruit.
You let out a heavy sigh at the sound of footsteps behind you, certain that one of your tormentors had discovered your hiding spot.
“Really not in the mood,” you said aloud, not bothering to look over your shoulder. “I’m sure it’s just as much fun talking about me behind my back—”
But instead, a commanding voice that made your breath catch in your throat and your eyes grow wide as saucers answered. You recognized it as its owner spoke your name aloud—anyone on base would have recognized it. You quickly scrambled to your feet and turned around to face Bogard with your hand raised in a salute, trying to keep your knees from shaking.
“S—sorry, sir, I—” He just held up a hand to stop you, and your mouth snapped shut immediately. His own mouth remained turned down in his usual characteristic frown, and after a moment he let out a vaguely frustrated sigh.
“Vice Admiral Garp requires your presence. Please follow me.”
You remained glued to the spot for a moment even as he turned on his heel and began to stride away. Garp and Bogard had shown up at the base a week ago on some business from headquarters that was being kept quiet around the rest of the base. You quickly forced yourself to follow after Bogard, your stomach in knots as you jogged to catch up to his long strides.
He didn’t speak again until you were outside the door of the office the vice admiral was occupying, turning to face you with his arms crossed. You quickly saluted again, your eyes still wide, burning the slightest bit—you were fairly sure you hadn’t blinked a single time since he had first addressed you.
“At ease, cadet.” You swallowed, lowering your hand and folding it behind your back with your other. “The vice admiral has some questions for you,” he said in brief explanation, opening the door. “Come.” You flinched as you followed him in, Garp’s booming voice meeting your ears as he shouted at someone through the den den mushi on his desk. It was clear he wasn’t in a good mood.
“Again?” he was saying, pacing behind the desk. “Yeah, I got it. Why do you think I’m at this shithole of a—” He gave a growl of annoyance, his grip tightening around the speaker. “Yes, Fleet Admiral. I think if I could manage to capture Roger, I can handle some brat calling himself the World’s Stronge—”  He closed his eyes tightly, pinching at the bridge of his nose. “I’m well aware of the threat. Doesn’t make him any less of a brat. With all due respect, sir, I know what I’m doing, Yeah. Uh-huh. Yeah. Understood.”
He dropped the handset back onto the den den mushi, sitting heavily in his chair behind the desk, strumming his fingers on the arm for a moment impatiently.
You felt as if you might pass out any second as you stood in front of the desk, trying to keep yourself still but still fidgeting slightly as your nervousness evolved toward something more like abject terror. There was no way this was about anything good. The vice admiral was here on orders handed down directly from his own superiors at Marine Headquarters. Vice Admiral Garp, recognized the world over as the hero of the Marines, the man that had brought Gold Roger to justice barely a decade ago.
An officer of his status wouldn’t waste his time with a lowly cadet like yourself unless the situation was incredibly dire.
When he finally lifted his eyes to look at you, you sprang immediately into a salute, and it was all you could do to keep your knees from buckling. He glanced at Bogard, standing off to the side and idly flipping through a book on one of the shelves along the right side of the office walls. “This the one?” asked Garp.
“It would seem so,” he affirmed.”
“Good.” He leaned back in his chair, his gaze flickering over you. “At ease, cadet.”
Once more you folded your hands behind your back—though in literal terms, you were anything but at ease. Your face flushed and your legs visibly shaking at this point, it was all you could do to keep your eyes on his.
The vice admiral gave a small snort of amusement at your nervous state as he picked up a folder from his desk—a folder with your name written on the tab.
“Calm down, you’re not in any trouble,” he said. You still swallowed nervously, your mouth turning down ina  slight frown. He read your name out loud at the top of the file before going on. “Says here your old man was a Lieutenant. Died in the line of duty among a fleet that took on a division of the Whitebeard pirates.”
“Y—yes, sir,” you said, giving a short nod when he glanced at you from over the top of the folder. “He’s the reason I enlisted.”
“Revenge?” he said, lifting his eyebrows.
“No, sir,” you said quickly, shaking your head. “I looked up to him. He wanted to make the world a better place. Safer. That’s...why I enlisted.”
He nodded slowly, observing you for a long moment as he seemed to mull over your answer. “Good to hear,” he said finally, lowering his eyes back down to what you could only assume was your enlistment paperwork. “Revenge is thankless work. Your old man was a damned good Marine. Honorable. Sounds like the apple didn’t fall too far from the tree.” You relaxed the slightest bit in the approval at his tone—it was perhaps the first compliment you had gotten from any of your superiors. “Unfortunately, we’re not here to reminisce. This is official business. And confidential.” He set the folder down on his desk, still open, meeting your eyes again. “I’ll need your word right now that you won’t repeat anything we discuss here to anyone.”
Your eyes widened a little, and you nodded quickly. :Of course, Vice Admiral,” you said immediately, your heart hammering in your chest.
He nodded slowly himself, picking up a lowball glass of what appeared to be whiskey from his desk. He gestured with his free hand to the chair across from him. “Then have a seat. We could be here awhile.”
You glanced at the chair behind you, and took a few steps backwards, folding your hands in your lap. You couldn’t begin to imagine what sort of official business he might have with you. You were a new recruit, tended to blend into the background—at least you had, until word had gotten out about….
Your stomach dropped at Garp’s next sentence.
“I understand you’re a devil fruit user?”
“I…am,” you said slowly, almost cautiously. You had received nothing but jeering and taunting for your ability, even before you enlisted. “It’s…not exactly a useful ability, though.”
“You don’t think so?” he said, with a hint of a smirk, and you shook your head, your eyes dropping down to your knees. “‘Omu Omu no Mi,’” he read off from the file. “‘Zoan type devil fruit. Gray parrot.’ You’ve had the ability for…fifteen years?” You nodded shortly, your brow still furrowed in your growing confusion. “You can’t think of any application where that would be useful?”
Your remained silent for some time, wondering if it was a trick question, some sort of joke at your expense. Sure the vice admiral wouldn’t waste his time calling you here for the sake of a joke. After a moment, you shook your head, lifting your gaze, grimacing a little. “It’s, uh…been more of a burden than anything, honestly,” you admitted.
“Yeah, I’ve heard.” Your brow furrowed a bit, and he gestured over to Bogard, still leaning against the bookshelf off to the side. “I’ve had Bogard here keeping an eye on you since we got here.”
That was incredibly surprising news to you. You glanced at Bogard yourself. You had seen him around the base a few times, but it had seemed to be only in passing. While you were still rendered speechless at the claim, Garp when on.
“I read in your file that your mother’s an…ornithologist?” he said, glancing down at the folder once more. Your brow remained furrowed as you nodded slowly, trying to wrap your head around where this could be going. “So I’d guess you have a pretty good understanding of birds. How they behave, interact with humans?”
“I—”
“With all due respect, Garp…” Both you and Garp glanced over at Bogard at his interruption. He lowered the book he had been flipping through, his frown deepening. “This is still the most ridiculous idea I’ve ever heard of.”
“Give me a better idea, then.” After a moment, Bogard rolled his eyes, lifting the book again, still looking quite disgruntled with the situation—whatever the situation was. Garp turned his attention back to you, gesturing with a wave of his hand for you to continue.
“I-I…did learn a lot from her,” you affirmed. “She specializes in parrots and corvids. She runs a veterinary practice and rescue service for them in the East Blue.”
“Think you’d be able fool people into believing you’re the real thing?”
“Wh…wha…”
You felt like you were trapped in some strange fever dream you couldn’t wake from. Garp raised his eyebrows as he waited for your response, as you frowned, struggling to collect your thoughts into something organized enough to allow you to speak.
“I…used to prank my mom into thinking I was one of the birds in our aviary,” you admitted, almost sheepishly.
Garp let out a hearty laugh at that, his smirk spreading into a grin. “Well, if you could fool an expert, then I guess you could fool damn near anyone, huh?” You blinked rapidly as he leaned forward, crossing his arms over the desk. “So. How much do you know about a pirate by the name of Dracule Mihawk?”
Your breath caught as you froze in place, your blood running cold.
There was no Marine, likely no one in the world, that didn’t know that name. It wasn’t long after the execution of Gold Roger that he had begun making the headlines, and not for anything good. Even as a rookie he had quickly gained a reputation for being ruthless and deadly, slaughtering pirates and Marines alike with seemingly no distinction between the two. For a few years now he had gained notoriety for being considered by many to be the world’s most powerful swordsman. You had heard stories of him singlehandedly destroying entire Marine warships without batting an eye.
The man was practically a living nightmare for any Marine.
“I…I’ve heard of him,” you managed to force out weakly.
Garp scoffed at that, taking a sip from his whiskey. “Who the hell hasn’t?” he said. “Especially among us. He’s been responsible for the deaths of more Marines over the past few years than any other pirate sailing the Grand Line. And completely on his own. No crew.” He shook his head, giving another scoff. “Almost no one we’ve sent after the bastard comes back alive. Except, of course, those he lets go willingly to tell us he’ll continue to slaughter anyone that challenges him. It’s a problem we can’t ignore.”
You swallowed, the rising tension in you rendering you as stiff as a statue. You could sense where this was going…and you didn’t like it one bit.
“I’m thinking a different approach could be out best bet in taking care of the problem. Something a little more subtle.” You nodded slowly to indicate you were following what he was saying—what he was suggesting. “I’m sure you don’t want to see any more Marines die at the hands to this monster any more than I do. Am I right?”
Of course he was right—you knew it as well as Garp did. Your father had been enough. Knowing that there were so many other Marines, other men and women that might leave behind broken families, losing their lives at the hands of such a ruthless killer…it sickened you to your core.
Once more, you nodded.
“Then we’re on the same page,” he said. He leaned back in his chair for a moment, taking a sip from his glass, before he set it down and stood up. “You say you think your devil fruit ability is useless. I say it could be exactly what we need.”
“Y…you want me to use my devil fruit to…” He paced slowly behind his desk, his eyes remaining on you, waiting for you to say it. “T…to take down…him?”
“Not…quite,” he said. “Like I said, different approach I want you to use your devil fruit ability against him. But not to take him down. I think you’re probably smart enough to know that you wouldn’t stand a chance in combat against him.” You swallowed, giving a short nod in agreement. “What we really need at this point is information. Any potential weakness that he might possess. Your ability isn’t useless, but it is…unassuming. You could spy on almost anyone you wanted without them knowing. And hey, let’s face it—pirates like parrots.”
You heard Bogard sigh heavily at this statement, and you couldn’t help but agree with his wordless disapproval. Pirates like parrots was a pretty broad generalization to make regarding such a dire situation.
“Look,” Garp said as your brow furrowed once more. He stepped out from behind his desk, slowly circling your chair. “Parrots are smart birds, right?” You nodded. “And they tend to bond pretty easily with humans?” Another nod, your eyes following him as he came around the other side of your chair, stopping right in front of you and leaning back against his desk. “You could get close to him without him having any idea you’re anything but a friendly, intelligent bird.”
“or he could consider her a pest and kill her,” said Bogard dryly—voicing the exact concern that was already forming in your own head.
Garp rolled his eyes. “One, there haven’t been any reports that he makes a habit of killing animals. Two, you’d be a bird. You can fly. He can’t.”
“He can split entire ships in half from at least a hundred yards,” Bogard pointed out.
“Yeah, he can,” agreed Garp—and his confirmation of this claim did absolutely nothing to help your resolve. “But why bother killing a bird that’s already flying away? He’s killing Marines to send a message that we can’t touch him. He’s killing pirates so his competition knows they can’t touch him. What’s he going to kill a goddamned parrot for?” Another sigh came from Bogard—it seemed as if the man had been through this exact same argument before. “Worst case scenario,” Garp continued, “you fly off to safety and consider it a failed mission. No black mark on your record, brownie points for even attempting it. Best case…” He crossed his arms, his mouth spreading into a grin. “You get close to a pirate no one has been able to touch for years, and return with commendation and respect from the entire Navy. Show all these recruits that have been laughing at your abilities that you’re a hell of a lot more useful than any of them.”
You bit your lip, your eyes darting off to the side. You didn’t consider yourself vain…but you had spent fifteen years considering your devil fruit completely useless. Now you had a Marine vice admiral, a man regarded by much of the world as a hero, telling you that you could potentially use your power to save the lives of countless people. It was the exact reason your father told you he had enlisted—to protect innocent lives, to make the world safer.
“I…I’m not much of a fighter,” you said finally. “If he were to figure out that I’m a human…a Marine, I…”
“You’d receive special training before the mission,” said Garp. “Enough to give you a fighting chance at escaping if you had to. Given what we know about Dracule Mihawk, it would still be dangerous, of course. But you’d still stand a better chance alone at gathering intel than an entire fleet of ships would stand facing him in combat. As it stands now,” he said, his expression shifting into a scowl, “there are several high ranking Marine officers that believe the only chance of dealing with him is offering him status as a Warlord. There’s still a problem with that, considering no one can get close enough to him to propose the offer. If nothing else, you could get close enough to do that.”
“Which would likely be the best course of action,” Bogard interjected.
And Garp ignored him.\
“I propose,” said Garp, “that you keep an eye on him for a month. Get as close as you safely can. Search for any potential weakness we could exploit, and report back. If there aren’t any,” he said, tossing a sharp glance at Bogard, before leveling his gaze with yours again, “then you go back with the paperwork in your pocket and propose the offer.”
And possibly be killed the moment you revealed who you were—what you were. That detail remained unspoken, but you had no doubt that both Garp and Bogard had already considered the possibility, if you were already thinking about it yourself.
You could be killed. In the blink of an eye. Without any warning. You could die attempting thing. It was almost insane to even consider what Garp was proposing.
But you couldn’t ignore the possibility that it could work. That it could save countless lives from ending.
Save countless families from the same grief you and your mother had endured.
You pulled in a slow, deep breath, lifting your eyes and meeting Garp’s.
And you nodded.
“I’ll do it.” His eyebrows shot up at your acceptance. “I’ll do anything I can to help.”
His surprised expression slowly split into a grin.
“You’re under no obligation to accept.” You turned your head as Bogard snapped his book shut, leveling his dark eyes with yours. Garp was already chuckling to himself, but Bogard’s expression remained grave as he went on. “You’re aware of the risk, I’m sure. The pirate in question has killed thousands of Marines to date, and I wish that was an exaggeration. This could very well be a suicide mission. If you’re doing this for recognition, I suggest you walk out of this office and forget every detail of this conversation.”
“I don’t care about recognition.” You shook your head as Bogard continued to regard you with a frown, lifting an eyebrow; as Garp tossed a glance at him that very clearly said told you so. “And I know the risk.I know I could die.” He crossed his arms, waiting for you to continue. You swallowed, going on quietly, “But…if it succeeds, then it could stop thousands of others from dying.” You lifted your gaze to meet his, straightening your back in the chair. “That’s all I care about.”
Though Bogard didn’t look entirely convinced, he wasn’t given any further opportunity to protest, as Garp let out a laugh. “You heard the girl, Bogard,” he said, reaching behind him and picking up the receiver from the den den mushi on the desk once more. “I say it’s time to get the ball rolling and finally give this madman a run for his money.”
requesting some will samy angst where maybe one of them picks a fight on the phone or on face time while they’re doing long distance and then by the end of the call they realize that they were only doing that because they missed the other?
UGH yes in the end they'd be so 🥺 when they realize they really just miss one another. angst to fluff my fav
au masterlist
"you barely texted me all day," samy immediately said when she finally answered her boyfriend's call at almost 10pm.
"i'm sorry..things were crazy today. i got caught up," will mumbled but for some reason his apology wasn't sitting right in samy's head.
"you could've at least told me you were gonna be busy," she continued with the semi-angry tone. the blonde frowned to himself, struggling to make up for hardly answering her all day.
"i should've. 'm sorry," will really did have a long day. there was media every hour that they weren't practicing and press people wanted to kow..he hardly had time to even sit down and think before someone new came in wanting and interview and/or photos for their blogs.
it was the worser side of the job the blonde didn't really enjoy. he was there to play hockey, not sit in front of ten different cameras answering nonstop questions that were way too personal for his liking.
"what's even been up with you lately? you've felt so..i dunno..distant.." samy wasn't afraid to call it what it was anymore. after things escalated between them last summer, she knew better than to let things slide.
however, will did not take it that way, "what's that supposed to mean?"
"i get you're busy, i am too, but it feels like i've barely heard from you all week. we hardly text. we hardly talk," samy's voice faded like she hesitated saying the last part.
the hockey player's expression hardened even though she couldn't see it, "oh so now you're trying to accuse me of something?"
"no, i was never accusing you of something," the younger hughes immediately shot back.
"then what are you trying to say?"
"what are you trying to say? is there something i should be accusing you of?" now both of their tones turned sour. after a long four months of will proving to samy that he deserved her full trust, she put it all into him. she trusted him completely, but right now it wasn't really feeling that way.
"what the fuck? no? what the fuck would i even be doing that would put me in that position?" now will was just mad because it mostly hurt him how fast samy was to assume that he would turn around and hurt her like that again.
"i don't know, you tell me, will. you're the one that hasn't even been answering my texts," the girl shot back again.
"so you're just gonna assume that i did something then? not that i could just be super busy and i've had a really long day talking to a million different people with a camera in my face and i just couldn't have the time to text you?"
a deafening silence fell between them. will heard a sigh escape samy's lips and he quickly realized how harsh what he just said sounded. the guilt of being rude quickly washed over the hockey player. he knew samy's trust really could break at any moment with him and none of what he just said helped any of that.
"okay, sorry. i..i don't know why i said that. you're right. you're busy," when samy spoke again her voice was small and wavering like she was going to cry.
will instantly felt bad, "wait, fuck, no, no. i'm sorry. i shouldn't have snapped like that. i shouldn't have..i'm sorry."
god, he was so stupid sometimes.
"i'm sorry. i have been busy, but i should have texted you and told you. i'm sorry i didn't. it's just been a crazy long day and i haven't like had a second to breathe with every reporter wanted to shove a camera and mic in my face. i think i answered like a hundred questions about myself and personal life today," will admitted in a softer tone when samy didn't respond right away.
"i didn't mean to snap either. i'm sorry. i guess we both had long days. i just..i really like talking to you and i got worried when i barely heard from you all day," samy nervously thumbed her little braid.
"i really like talking to you too. talking to you is the highlight of my day and i do always look forward to it. i didn't mean to worry you. i'm sorry again. if it's any consolation, i did talk about you quite a lot though," when he heard the girl giggle, he knew it was okay again.
"really?"
"god, they love asking about you, but i love talking about you so it works out. it was just little things about our relationship. i bragged about you when i could," will could picture samy blushing hearing him say that and he was right. her cheeks were bright red.
"i'm flattered. sounds intense," she hummed.
"it was, but luckily we're done with it for now. i promise that i will try to text you more and especially let you know when i'll be more busy. god, i really miss you," the hockey player admitted. there were so many days he wished samy was a half an hour drive away still so he could just lay in her arms when his day was hard.
today especially he missed her like crazy. it was probably why he seemed to talk about her in almost every interview even when he wasn't asked first because she was the only thing on his mind.
"i really miss you, too. feels like it's been forever since i saw you," the brunette sighed.
"i know. i have no idea when i'm free again," probably not until summer will guessed and that was still so long from now.
"yeah, me neither." samy and hannah were going abroad for spring break—a trip they'd been planning since literally last year after hannah saying she really wanted to go to italy, so samy didn't know when the next time she could fly to the west coast would be.
"maybe i can escape to italty with you and hannah," will joked a little.
"you should. the almafi coast is calling our name."
one day will would get there with samy and maybe even then they'd be more than just boyfriend and girlfriend. something more like husband and wife sounded right.
"i love you. i miss you. i'm sorry again," will finally said with a small smile.
"i love you a lot. i'm glad we talked. it was real good hearing from you," samy smiled too.
"i promise i'll text. if i don't just like spam me or something," the girl giggled at his words.
"i love, love, love you," they exchanged their goofy, loving goodbye and the little fight they had was far from their minds.
Abby having late night shifts was nothing knew.
She was a surgeon, staying late was apart of her job. but sometimes you wished it wasn’t.
she always came back extremely exhausted, only having the strength to mutter a few ‘thank you’s’ when she eats the food you made her before she goes to sleep. resting all night and getting up at the crack of dawn. You barely see her, and when you do, it’s not for long.
you do miss her, you miss really being around her and having her eyes and attention and love on you, but with her job… it wasn’t that simple. you had your own job, yeah, you were the owner of a small bakery downtown. but you ran that business, you had employees and assistant managers to cover for when you couldn’t make it, and abby didn’t.
you sigh deeply, shutting your eyes upon the refreshing feeling of the cold air flushing out your lungs. Abby was most likely working another late shift at the Hospital. No surprise, you loved her, and her job, but she’d said she would be back by 6:30 to have the promised dinner you were thrilled to make. you’d been going on about it for weeks, asking when she would swear to be free, and she had pinky swore that this wednesday— today— would be perfect.
but, here you sat. alone at the table, your plate empty as the one across from you was full, the once warm food now cold. You weren’t angry, no, you understood. Obviously, she’d come back if she could, obviously she’d stay with you if she could. but she couldn’t. being a doctor was hard, and you understood.
You stood up, taking your plate and utensils with you to the sink. overlooking all the dishes you’d dirtied to try and perfect this dish for her. You rinsed your dishes and placed them in the dishwasher, going to gather the other ones and wash them, putting the plates, bowls, spoons and such in the washer. Your thoughts went back to the day you’d told her. she walked through the door at her usual retuning time, smiling at you when you ran up to her for a hug. You’d asked her the usuals; ‘how was your day?’ ‘anything exciting happen?’ ‘was dina as smart as she usually is?’ ‘were jesse and ellie as weird as usual?’ she’d laughed at your dumb questions, answering them as she took off her shoes and placed down her bag, walking with you to the kitchen. then, you be brought it up.
“abs, i found this super cool, almost gourmet recipe, and i thought i could make it for us to have for dinner on a night that works for you.” you offered, watching as she practically inhaled the spaghetti and meatballs you’d made for dinner. She chewed for a moment, smiling at your words. she swallowed, looking at you. “that sounds great, baby. what is it?”
“can’t tell ya! have to kill ya.” you teased, leaning on the counter and grinning at her eye roll. “okay, whatver.”
“what day works for you? i want you to actually have it free so you don’t miss the freshness of the food.” you inquired, watching as she squinted her eyes in thought. “next wednesday. some construction is going on at the hospital and me and a few others are being let of early.. around 6:30, so that’s perfect.” she replied, twisting her spoon to gather some noodles. you beamed, leaned closer “you pinky swear?.”
“i pinky swear.”
you bit your bottom lip, gnawing at the now raw flesh at the reminiscence of the memory. You always tried to be open, not upset— but you were hurt. You hadn’t actually, really had dinner with her for months.
it wasn’t her fault. you’d told yourself, knowing it wasn’t. You didn’t want to take her work schedule to heart.. but something inside you cracked every time she broke a promise. You huffed angrily, brows furrowing harshly as you aggressively scrubbed the pan you’d used. the dish had took you most of the day, calling ahead to your employees yesterday to let them know you wouldn’t be there, you spent seven hours perfecting this recipe.
even the name of the dish took you time to read. ‘Prosciutto-Wrapped Pork Tenderloin with Crispy Sage, a side of Salade Niçoise (from france) and a side dish of duchess potatoes.’
you knew abby would fall to her knees from joy upon hearing those food titles. she’d love to have it with you, and that’s why you made it. so she’d love it. but she’s not here to have it with you like she said.
before you knew it, the kitchen was clean. stepping to the dinner table, you scooped up her plate of food and nicely wrapped it in plastic wrap. taking a piece of paper from the notepad on the fridge and writing her a small note. You weren’t trying to be rude, in fact, you tried everything in you to he as kind as possible— but after being bailed on four times in the past three months, you were at the edge of a line. you put the paper on the plate, leaving it on the counter for her alongside some water before storming off to your shared bedroom— barely, shared bedroom. you made it, cleaned it, kept it tidy, rearranged it, etcetera.
tearing off your nice shirt, you tossed it to the floor. usually, you’d wear one of abby’s shirts during her night shifts, the lingering smell bringing you comfort— but now, the thought of her made you internally irk.
you took a shirt from your drawer , tossing it over your head and shoulders, sliding it on. You didn’t same with your pants, taking off the nice linen fabric and fuming as you put on crappy old shorts.
You basically threw yourself into bed, putting a pillow between your side, and abbys side of the bed. hoping she’d get the message. i mean, it’s not like she’ll have the time to talk to you about it tomorrow anyways, right?
˚₊‧꒰ა ☆ ໒꒱ ‧₊˚
abby sigh as the door to your shared apartment opened, her hand pulling out the key she’d used to unlock it. you don’t usually lock the door.
She knew she’d fucked up.
you’d been so excited for this, chatting about it and reminding her to not be late. and she was late. four hours late.
Abbys dropped her bag by the door as she usually does, sliding off her work shoes and sliding on her slippers before walking to the kitchen.
the lights were out, it was cleaned nicely. her eyes met a plate on the white marble counter, a lazily folded piece of paper on top.
She smiled lightly, knowing you’d be the kind to leave her a note. she reached for it, unfolding it.
“Hope the construction workers weren’t in your way. Enjoy.” abby’s smile fell, guilt flooded her every atom at the words. fuck.
she knew you’d be upset, she doesn’t know what she was expecting— she’d bailed on you four times, and she swore to be on time this one. but, she wasn’t.
Abby was getting ready to head out at 6:25 to be able to make it home early, the biggest grin tugged at her lips as she told all her co-workers about the meal you were preparing.
she was about to leave when an emergency was called in. It was bad, but she’d seen worse. this poor girls bone was completely shattered, a bad case of compartment syndrome. unluckily, her and mel were the only two true professionals still clocked in, leading to a four and a half hour long surgery.
by the time abby got out of the hospital, she basically ran to her car and sped home— praying that by some miracle you were still awake and waiting for her.
you weren’t.
She put the note down, eyes landing on the plate of food you’d left her.
it was beautiful.
the potatoes shaped perfectly, the prosciutto-wrapped tenderloin looked amazing; cooked to perfection, the salad beside it was also stunning.
Each course of the meal was placed individually and carefully on her plate. Abby’s stomach fell with guilt upon imagining you sitting alone, eating your meal without her.
Abby was mad at herself. not because of this single instance, but because she feels as if she’s choosing her career over you— and she would never, ever do such a thing.
Her life revolves around you, so much.. she’d been planning a little something with a ring.
but for some terrifying reason, she felt that you would refuse. why would you marry someone who you’d never be around? nausea ate at her stomach due to the thought, hoping it was only her crazy nighttime, overworked imagination.
Abby unwrapped the food, putting it in the microwave for a minute. You weren’t anywhere in sight, and so she assumed you’d gone to sleep. alone. again.
“fuck..” she murmured, regret running through her veins. She leaned on the counter, her muscular figure easily keeping her upright.
you were the love of her life— her light in the darkness, her jam to her bread, her peanut butter to her jelly— without you, she doesn’t know where she’d be, and thanks to her stupid work schedule, she’s beginning to think that’s starting to happen.
the timer went off, a loud beep ripping her from her thoughts. “oh shit— shh, shh— loud ass microwave.” she complained, taking out the food. The potatoes were now soft, the salad unfortunately warm do to being in the heat, but the rest of the meal was good temperature. Abby got a fork, quickly snagging a bite of the tenderloin. It was even better than you swore it would be. The juice of the meat flooded her mouth like the sea to the shore, accompanied with the small amount of potatoes that gathered on her fork; they were magnificent.
Abby had inhaled the meal, it being gone in a matter of inhuman minutes. She rinsed her dish, going to load it in the dishwasher— but seeing that you had ran it. she frown. you always made sure to never do that, claiming you ‘wanted to get the love she deserves, and love is definitely not having to do your own dish.’
she cleaned her dishes and walked across the house and down the hall to your shared bedroom, pushing the door open she saw you. laying on your side, hair lightly messy as it always was when you slept (she loved it.) and.. a pillow between your side and her side. she wondered what else she’d missed that you’d done.
Abby striped her pants, throwing on some sweats and a hoodie, sliding in bed beside you. She gripped the pillow and threw it so hard she was surprised it didn’t pop, and wrapped her ams around your wait.
you shuffled, grabbing her hand before it could do a full 360 and ripped it off you, harshly turning your back to her.
“babe,” she whispered softly, sadness coating her vocals.
you were reluctant, eyes snapped shut even though she knows your awake.
“I’m sorry, i’m so sorry. i really tried to be here, something unexpected came up, i swear i would have had been here.”
your silence had her itching at her skin.
“please say something.” she pleaded, her frown only deepening.
“whatever you say, abigail.”
abby grabbed the top of her head, ‘fuck’ running in her mind a thousand miles per hour. she really was in deep shit.
“i’m sorry, y/n, i don’t even think sorry can describe how sorry i am— i just, i wanted do come back, i couldn’t though. i couldn’t just leave the hospital, they needed me.” you clenched your jaw. her points were decent, great even— but you were petty.
“i’m sure they did.”
your little-word replies had abby at edge of her seat, suspense and fear building up.
“that’s all? nothing else?” she poked, confusion flooding her, anger starting to appear as well.
“yeah.”
she scoffed, sitting against the headboard. “You don’t have anything else to say? at all? i came back, yeah, i was late and i’m sorry, but—
“late?” you bit back, interrupting her. “you’ve bailed on me four times for dinner. You’ve always put your job before me, you’ve always had more time for your career— is this even working?”
those words were the ones abby feared the most. When you two began dating, she had told you about her passion, and where she worked. you found it fascinating, understanding completely. but, that was also when she used to spend genuine time with you.
“ i love you abby, i really do— but i can’t be with someone who puts a career before a person. I support your passions, and i wish nothing but the best for you, but I don’t want to be stood up by the person i’m dating anymore. fuck, abby, i took work off today to spend seven fucking hours making a meal you couldn’t even text me to say you couldn’t even show up for!” before you knew it, you’d sat up and looked at her, voice raising in a way she’d never heard.
“i know its not your choice, but you could at least find five fucking seconds to reply to my text.”
guild flooded her like a tsunami once again, a frown growing at the look on your face.
“I’m sorry.” she whispered out, watching as you sigh deeply.
“Don’t apologize, abby. it’s past that.” your reply scared her, fearing the worst; a break up. were you going to break up with her? were you going to leave her behind? she didn’t know, and she didn’t want to find out.
“how can i make it up to you?”
“i don’t even know if you can do that anymore.” you turned away, laying on your side, the pillow you’d somehow slipped between you both felt like a rock wall, each side of the bed you slept on cold; missing one another’s warmth.
abby stayed silent, internally scolding herself for being such a bad girlfriend and, frankly, not trying harder to be better.
˚₊‧꒰ა ☆ ໒꒱ ‧₊˚
you woke up with a sore neck, probably from sleeping in a way you never do.
you didn’t need to look over to abby’s side of the bed to know she was gone. sitting up, you crack your once resting bones and stand up. Shuffling on your slippers, you walk to your bedroom door, twisting the cold handle and walking out.
Every morning you wake up after abby, she always kisses you goodbye before she leaves (or so she claims to.), grabs a quick bite to eat from the fridge and you are left to make breakfast for yourself. it was second nature, to wake up and immediately crack and egg or two.
but, something was off. It smelled almost.. good in the house. you ignored it, labeling it as your desperate imagination.
Your feet hobbled across the house, yawning deeply and shutting the bathroom door. looking in the mirror, you grimace. the eye bags on your face were not your strong suite, you noted.
quickly rinsing off your sleep, you brush your teeth along with your hair. each and every yawning that stole itself from your lips reminded you how much you needed your coffee. rubbing your eyes you opened the bathroom door and began your journey to the kitchen.
when you round the familiar corner, what you hadn’t expected was to see Abby in the room.
your eyes flew wide, her blonde hair was still down from sleeping, she had her glasses on and was hovering over the stove.
brows furrowing, you stepped forward. “aren’t you supposed to be at work? isn’t thursday one of the most important ones?” you genuinely ask, catching her off guard attention, her head snapping up.
the big, sweet smile that encased her beautiful lips made you feel bad for your harshness the previous night. She pushed her arms off the counter, fixing something by the stove quickly before walking over to the bar, pulling out the two chairs and revealing two sets of plates.
“Yeah— but it’s not as important as you.” Abby affirmed, a light pink coating her cheeks. You wanted to stay angry, to stay mad at her lies and broken promises. But, your ice heart thawed quickly, revealing the warmth you still posses for her.
“abby.. you didn’t have to. I know i was harsh last night but— it’s your passion, i didn’t.. actually expect you to not go.” you confessed, walking to her cautiously, as if she’d vanish from existence.
she gave you a small smile, “I know. but, i would rather be with you. I love you way more than any hobby.” Her words were the validation you’ve been craving all these months, the words you’ve been seeking to hear. You instantly complied.
“i’m glad to hear that.” you laughed, approaching her and gingerly placing a kiss to her cheek as you sat at your chair she pointed to.
“always.”
she rushed back to the stove, flipping over whatever had been on their previously before motioning for you to give her your plate. you obliged, handing it to her.
“I love you, baby. I always will and.. even though i’m not a baker, i tried to make you those pancakes you like so much.” oh did her words make you fall for her all over again. “you didn’t have to, abs.” you grinned, ear to ear. something abby hadn’t seen you do since.. since a while.
“i did. i hope you like them.” she placed the plate in front of you, beautiful, fluffy pancakes alongside fresh bacon and eggs with syrup drizzled over them placed nicely on the dish.
“wow! abby, you might want to reconsider your career and come work for me.” you joked, smiling wildly at the wholehearted laugh she let out.
“who knows, maybe i will.”
you rolled your eyes, cutting a piece of the pancake and dipping it in the puddled syrup.
your eyes widened, “mhm!” you expressed, eyes shutting in satisfaction.
although abby was a very high ranked doctor, she was still nervous to get her professional baker girlfriends opinion on first time pancakes.
“Abigail, you are a natural.”
“only for you, babe.”
she put food on her own plate, turning off the stove and coming to sit beside you.
“I’m going to call my supervisor and ask for some more free hours from now on. So i can start to have breakfast and dinner with you. and maybe a couple free days, too.” abby announced, causing your heart to beat happily.
“that makes me so unbelievably happy, abby. you deserve it.”
you kissed her cheek, syrup sticking from your lips to her skin. you laughed, and she did too.
“I love you. more than anything.” you said, chewing softly. she wiped some food from your face, a loving smile tracing her features.
“i love you more.”
In which YN and Sungchan go on their first official date
Pt 1 here!
Tumblr media
It had been a few weeks since the party YN and Sungchan Met at, and the two had spent their time having casual hang outs, and planning their first official date. At least, sungchan was busy planning it, not letting YN in on anything he was planning. As excited as she was, YN felt her nerves growing day by day, as their first official date approached.
“Maybe this was a mistake,” YN said, looking at herself in the mirror. She felt like she spent entirely too long getting ready, that she was putting in too much thought into her appearance.
“Why would it be a mistake?” yunjin asked from the phone. She had been on a call with her friend for two and a half hours, trying to calm her down about the date.
“Because he’s being super secretive about it, and I barely know him,” She sighed, brushing through her hair for the third time. “What if he’s like… a really bad driver!”
“Is that really the biggest red flag you can think of for a guy?” Yunjin laughed at her friend's nerves. “Besides, it’s a first date, if you don’t vibe with it, then don’t go on another. But, you’ll never know unless you try,”
YN sighed. Why did Yunjin have to be right? Why was she so scared of the guy who’s been nothing but nice to her when she’s seen him?
“I can’t do it, I'm gonna fake being sick,” YN declared, walking over to her bed and picking up her phone. When she opened her messages, a new notification popped up.
Channie <3: I’m in the parking lot. Should I come up?
“Fuck,” YN groaned.
“What happened?” Yunjin asked.
“He’s already here, I’m so screwed,” YN stared at the messages.
“If you really don’t want to go, then just tell him that. He’d get the memo.” Yunjin sighed from the other side of the line.
“No, fuck you,” YN said before hanging up the call. She knew she couldn’t back out, she knew she’d have a good time with sungchan, and that she’d regret not going. She grabbed her bag, and texted him back.
YN: I’ll come down
Channie <3: Too late, I'm already in the elevator.
YN brushed through her hair one more time, checked her makeup and heard a knock at the door. She almost ran to the door to open it up, tripping a little on the corner of her bed before regaining her footing and walking to answer the door. When she opened the door, she saw sungchan standing there, dressed up a little more than usual, in a way that makes YN feel less embarrassed that she spent so much time getting ready.
“Hey,” He greeted with a familiar, soft smile.
“Hi,” She gave him a smile back. “You didn’t have to come up, you know. I was gonna be right down,”
“I wasn’t really asking, I was already in the building when I sent the text,” Sungchan smiled.
“Oh, okay,” She smiled, and looked down.
“You ready to go?” Sungchan asked,checking his watch.
“Yeah, sorry,” She nodded and stepped out into the hall, locking her door behind her. “Do I get to know where we’re going?”
“Nope, it’s a surprise,” Sungchan told her, walking by her side as they went to the elevator. “You’ll like it though, I promise,” They stood next to each other on the way down to the main lobby, the silence a bit awkward as they both wanted to say something to the other.
It wasn’t like Sungchan had never been on a date before- hell, it wasn’t like he’d never spent time with YN before. This time, it just felt different. He wanted everything to be perfect.
They walked out to Sungchan’s car, he opened the door to the passengers side for her, and circled around to his seat. He offered her his phone so she could pick the music, and began driving. The awkward silence continued. Both of them wanted to say something, but stopped out of fear that it would make things more awkward than they already were.
Sungchan Kept taking glances at her, looking at her outfit, her hair, the rings on her fingers, anything he could sneak peeks at. He turned his gaze to the road once more, pushing his hair out of his face with the hand that wasn’t on the steering wheel.
“It’s a bit of a drive,” He broke the silence. “So get comfortable,” He turned to her with a playful smile that made YN laugh a bit.
“Kinda shady, you know, taking a girl on a ‘first date’ out of town, not telling her where she’s going?” YN poked fun at him, sungchan just laughed and shook his head.
“You just want to make me look like a creep, don’t you?” He smiled, eyes on the road, enjoying the banter. “Our other is McDonalds, make your choice,”
YN rolled her eyes. “Fine, fine, but I better not end up on the news,” The two of them laughed lightly, the silence that followed became comfortable as they fell into rhythm with each other.
Sungchan returned to sneaking glances at her when she wasn’t looking, a small smile on his face as he took her in. He put more effort into this date than he would want her to know- he wanted her to think he was some spontaneous, cool guy. Not a guy who was so hellbent on impressing her that he planned the best route to get there, reserved the nicest spot at the place they were going. He didn’t want her to know how nervous he really was, how nervous she really made him.
YN caught him sneaking a glance at her, both looking at each other for a beat too long before YN turned away. Sungchan focused back on the road, and she could see the little smirk on his face.
“What now?” YN asked, resting her head against the window.
“Nothing, nothing,” He smiled, eyes still on the road. There was a beat of silence before he looked towards her again, finding her already looking at him. “You look really pretty, by the way,” He told her. “I meant to tell you earlier,”
YN tried to hide the blush that crept on her cheeks. “I was starting to wonder when you’d say it,”
“Sorry to keep you waiting,” He flashed his grin before turning to the road once more.
YN looked down at her lap, trying to figure out what to say back. Should she say he looked good? Handsome? Dashing?
“You look pretty too,” She said, wondering if that was the right word. She heard sungchan’s laugh before she turned to look at him. “What?”
“You could’ve just said I look nice,” He told her.
She frowned. “Well sorry-”
“No, don't apologize! It was cute, you did that at the party too,” He told her, reminding her of how she called him cute when they first met. “Besides, I've never had a girl call me ‘pretty’ before.”
“What do they usually call you?” She asked, tilting her head a bit.
“Usually hot,” He shrugged. “But I like Pretty more,”
They smiled at each other.
Silence didn’t resume, the two of them found things to talk about, the awkward tension they arrived with had soon faded away. They found comfort in their conversations, cracking jokes, telling stories, and asking questions until Sungchan parked his car.
He got out first, walking around and opening the door for YN. He offered his hand when she got out, relieved when she took it. They began walking, the area wasn’t familiar to YN, she looked around, taking in her surroundings.
“Are you gonna tell me where we’re going now?” She asked.
“Nope,” He swung their arms, dragging her along. “Just be patient,”
They walked close to each other, Sungchan didn’t stop swinging their arms like a child, as YN laughed at his antics. She kept asking where they were going, to which Sungchan never really answered.
He suddenly stopped them in front of a building, a big glass window adorned with lace curtains, and pretty tables inside. It wasn’t very crowded, and the sound of calm jazz music came from the inside of the restaurant. He gestured to the door.
“Here we are,” He smiled, opening the door for her.
When she walked in she was greeted with the smell of baked goods and freshly cooked food. The restaurant was clean, potted flowers scattered about, local pottery on display, a fresh feeling emanating from the environment. She looked to Sungchan who just smiled, and walked to the hostess.
“I have a reservation for Jung Sungchan,” He said, and YN looked up at him. He flashed her a grin and the hostess looked at her tablet.
“Right this way,”
The two of them followed her through the restaurant. When YN saw a pretty green table with cushioned seats and a small vase holding some tulips, she assumed that was the table he reserved. But when they walked past it, she assumed it must be a larger white table by the wall, soft lights hanging over it. To her surprise, they passed by it too.
When they did stop, they were outside on a beautiful patio, A smooth wooden table with two cushioned seats on either side. The view was of a lush garden, tall trees came up around them to shield them from the sun, a small pond in their sight.
“Your server will be with you in a moment,” The hostess said before leaving the two.
YN was in awe of the scenery, looking around, not noticing when Sungchan circled behind her and pulled out her chair for her. He offered a gentle smile when she noticed him, and sat down. He sat across from her, putting his phone in his back pocket.
“I take it you like it?” he asked.
“It’s…. It’s too much,” she smiled in disbelief, and Sungchan frowned slightly.
“Too much good, or too much bad?” He asked, narrowing his eyes.
“Good! Oh my god, it’s amazing… It's beautiful! I just wasn’t expecting it… like at all.” She could see the relief on his face when she said she liked it. “I really love it, Sungchan,”
“Good,” He smiled, looking at the menu.
“How much did this cost you though? I don’t want you spending all your money on me,” She asked, hoping it wasn’t an exorbitant cost.
Sungchan didn’t want to tell her the cost of their reservation. It wasn’t anything that he couldn’t earn back from work with a few shifts. “Don’t worry about it. It’s money well spent if it’s with you,” He smiled, watching her blush and try to avoid his gaze.
She looked around once more. “How’d you find this place?”
“Do you remember last week when we hung out? You mentioned how Yunjin went out with some of her friends for a day, to this cozy little town that was a bit away, and Yunjin told you about this little restaurant she went to?” He asked.
The week before they had been sitting on YN’s couch, leaned up against each other, Sungchan’s arm draped around her, hand resting on her hip. They had been watching some baking show, which sent YN on a rant about how much Yunjin had bragged about this restaurant she went to with her friends. She was upset she wasn’t able to go because Yunjin showed her a picture of the tiramisu she had, and YN really wanted some.
Sungchan had taken note of the story. The next day he DMed Yunjin asking about the restaurant she had gone to. Yunjin told him she didn’t remember the name, but told him the town they went to.
After getting that, he searched up the town, and spent a good two hours looking through the shops, the restaurants, everything until he found where they sat today. He made his reservation the moment he made sure it was the place, asking for the nicest area they had, and requested extra decoration for a subtle flare.
“You mean the place Yunjin kept bragging about?” YN asked.
“Well I did some digging, and here we are now,” Sungchan told her.
“What kind of digging?” SHe asked suspiciously.
“Months of stalking,” He joked, to which YN rolled her eyes. Their server came in with a basket of fresh bread and butter, filling up their waters and taking their orders. YN ordered a chicken caesar salad with extra croutons and a lemonade, while Sungchan ordered a bowl of Chicken pesto pasta to share, and an iced tea.
YN looked at the flowers, daisies sitting in a painted white vase. She didn’t know Sungchan spent a good while scrolling through her instagram until he found any sign of what flowers she may like.
While they waited for their food, the two of them found themselves in an unintentional game of twenty questions.
“Favorite movie?” Sungchan asked.
“Ten things I hate about you,” She answered.
“Ratatouille,” Sungchan answers.
“Funniest first date experience?” YN asked him.
“It was in like high school, I think. I had a date with this girl, and we were out eating, and then her friends showed up and saw us. They start texting her or some shit, and she ‘goes to the bathroom’ and never comes back. I venmoed her for the money she owed me.” He told her.
“Damn, that’s brutal,”
“Tell me about it,” He sipped his drink. “Your turn,”
“A guy shows up in his work uniform. I don’t think much of it until he checks his phone and says, ‘sorry to cut this short, but my shift is about to start’ and i’m like why would you leave just now? And then when I’m walking out, I see he’s the host of the restaurant. He says bye, and tries to give me a kiss on the cheek,” She told him. “I left a one star review,”
Sungchan burst out laughing. “I thought mine was bad, but damn!” She joined in the laughter.
Soon enough their food arrived, and sungchan scooped out some of his pasta for her, and YN shared some of her salad with him. The two ate, marveling at how good the food really was. YN understood why Yunjin had bragged about it so much. They ate until there was nothing left on their plates except their silverware.
The server came back, and YN expected the check, but instead, two servings of tiramisu were placed in front of them.
“Since you wanted some, I went ahead and ordered it,” Sungchan shrugged, and YN smiled, a genuine grin at the effort he made.
The two ate the tiramisu, YN was in awe of its deliciousness, while Sungchan was just happy YN liked the food so much. When the bill came, Sungchan took it without hesitation, not letting YN have the chance to take it. YN insisted she pay for half, but Sungchan told her he would handle it since he planned it all out. After some protest, the bill was taken back and processed.
When they left the restaurant, they went to an antique store, and YN bought a cute necklace. They shopped around more, there were little boutiques, music stores, produce markets, whatever a person could desire.
They decided to head back when it was around six thirty, arms carrying bags of little goodies they bought, clothes, treats and other baked goods. Sungchan once again opened her door for her, getting into his seat and starting the car. He absentmindedly handed her his phone to pick the music like she did on the way there.
When they started driving, Sungchan let his hand fall to her knee, not really realizing what he was doing, brushing his thumb against her. YN’s eyes widened a bit, glancing over at sungchan as he tried to sneak a peek at her. When he took in her widened expression, he realized where his hand was.
“Is that okay?” he asked, voice quiet, eyes a bit concerned.
YN just nodded, “Yeah, yeah it’s okay,” she gave him a smile.
“You can tell me if-”
“No, dude, really it’s okay, i was just a little… shocked?” She laughed at herself a bit, her hand coming over to rest on his. They gave each other a slightly embarrassed grin, both blushing like idiots.
The drive back to YN’s place was peaceful, but YN couldn’t deny how badly she didn’t want their time together to end. She thought back to the morning, when she was so stressed about how the date would go, not liking it as much as she hoped she would. She was glad she talked herself into going, because if she hadn’t, she wouldn’t have been able to go on what had been one of the most successful first dates she’d had.
Sungchan was smiling to himself, his hand had moved to hold hers as he rested it on her thigh. He was glad his hard work paid off, and was happier that YN seemed to have fun while they were out.
The two of them sang along to the songs that played, rolled down their windows to feel the cool breeze against them, smiling ear to ear as they drove. Sungchan wasn’t trying to hide his looked at her, wanting her to know how much she liked looking at her.
When they pulled into the parking lot of YN’s building, they both were hit with the reality that their date had to come to an end. Sungchan held her hand as they walked towards the lobby. They chose to take the stairs this time, trying to squeeze in more time with each other as they made their way to her flat. No amount of stairs could stop them from reaching her floor, and they soon found themselves having to say goodbye.
Sungchan walked her to her door, still holding her hand.
“I had a lot of fun, Sungchan,” She said, a bashful tone to her voice.
“I’m glad, I wanted it to go well for us,” He told her, rubbing the back of his neck.
“Thank you, really.” She told him, smiling. “It was perfect… kinda too perfect,”
“Better it be too perfect than sucking, you know?” He said, brushing his thumb against the skin of her hand.
“Yeah, you’re right,”
The silence between them was awkward, looking at each other, unspoken words hanging between them as the tension grew. There was something Sungchan wanted to do.
“Can I kiss you?” He asked.
YN blushed, coughing a little and looking away in an attempt to hide how flustered just the question made her.
“After the first date? Don’t you think that’s a little fast?” She joked, moving her hand to rest on his chest.
Sungchan got the memo, wrapping his arms around her waist, brushing his lips against her neck. “You made out with me at a Frat-Halloween party, and almost had sex with me on a couch,” he reminded her, pulling back to look at her pointedly.
YN just rolled her eyes. “Just kiss me, idiot,”
“Yes ma’am,” Sungchan mumbled before leaning in and pressing his lips against hers. It wasn’t the same, lust filled kiss they shared at the party, but it was just as intoxicating. It was a sweet, soft kiss, one that would mean more to them than a sloppy makeout session.
When they pulled away, they smiled at each other. Sungchan loosened his grip around her and took a step back.
“Does this mean I get a second date?” He asked hopefully.
“Well you gotta ask me first,” YN told him. “And I get to plan it this time,”
“Shouldn’t you ask me, then?” Sungchan teased.
“Fine, fine, sungchan,” She looked up at him and batted her eyelashes. “WIll you pretty please go on another date with me?”
“I thought you’d never ask,” He kissed her cheek. “I should probably go now, it’s kind of late.”
YN nodded reluctantly. “Yeah, probably.” She looked up at him with a disappointed look. “Get home safe, okay?”
“I will,” He gave her hand a squeeze before he began walking towards the elevator.
YN went back into her apartment. She had too much fun on her date, and she realized she just might like Sungchan a little too much to let him just leave again. She poked her head out the door and into the hallway, but didn’t see Sungchan.
Sungchan was reluctant to leave, but didn’t want to push his luck after a successful date. He was just glad for the time they got together, even if he was sad he couldn’t get more time with her.
When his phone went off, he didn’t exactly expect the message he received.
YN: come back up here
Sungchan: you miss me already
YN: yes.
YN: come back pls <3
It was a matter of minutes before YN heard three louder than average knocks at her door. She opened the door to see Sungchan slightly out of breath in front of her. She laughed a bit at his wide eyes appearance.
“Did you run up here?” She asked.
“Yeah, why?” He said, taking a step into her flat, wrapping his arms around her again.
YN just laughed at him. “You’re crazy, dude,” She mumbled against him.
“Only for you,” He pressed a gentle kiss to her lips. “Now what did you want? Other than to see my handsome face again?”
“Do you want to get some takeout?” she offered. “Keep our date going a little more?”
“Say less,” Sungchan smiled as YN dragged him inside further, as they decided what food they should order.
YOU ABSENTMINDELY TAP YOUR PEN ON THE DESK, your eyes reading over and over again what you had written down in your notebook.
MIDTERM
Find someone whose first/native language isn’t Korean + do a presentation on the phoneme of their language and choose one interesting phonetic element of that language and do a more in depth look at it
includes recordings + analyzing
MANDATORY TO FIND A SENIOR TO DOUBLE CHECK THE WORK (prof said she doesn’t want to do it and is lazy)
the last bullet point you wrote down makes you snicker—your professor is a prime example of how blunt she is— and shake your head, deciding to finally close it and put it away. the lecture room is empty now, your classmates having left minutes ago after the clock hit one in the afternoon. you remained in your seat to avoid their trampling, and quite frankly, you want to remain there.
but your phone buzzes, vibrating against the table and reminding you that you have to get going if you want to get there in time.
you grab your phone, your finger right over the screen.
jjongs: are you out?
Tumblr media
you get up from bed, sluggishly walking to the kitchen to drink a cup of water, walking past jongho as he leans against the wall outside your door. it was when you had filled up your glass cup and brought it to your lips that he spoke softly.
“why didn’t you text me yesterday?”
he remains in his spot, his head hung low while he waits. three gulps and the cup is empty; you turn your back towards him and head to the sink, beginning to wash it. “i forgot.”
“you forgot?” his tone is… weird. not quite mad, but in disbelief? he doesn’t believe you, and you don’t know why. you’ve never lied to him, never given him a reason to not trust you.
“yeah,” you answer, scrubbing the inside of the cup harshly with the sponge, creating a lot of foam. “i forgot. why?” you pause for a second. “you don’t believe me?”
he scoffs, and you hear him walk closer to you by the way his voice gets louder. “did you really forget? you usually don’t forget anything at all.”
“well, this time i did.” you open the tap, staring intently at the water wash away the soap. “why are you asking?”
“i just think you’re lying.”
this time you scoff, finding it absurd that he’s telling you that. “why the hell would i lie to you?” is he really trying to argue with you right now? this early in the morning? the thought makes you angry.
jongho’s eyes widen the slightest bit when you turn around abruptly. you’re glaring at him, waiting for his next words, missing the fact his eyes are a shade darker than normal, like the color of obsidian, no hint of the usual brown in them. “kou told me he saw you with a man by the pharmacy at the corner. did you go on a date? did you even go to work yesterday?” the words spill from his lips before his mind even processes them.
“you’re kidding right?” when jongho stays silent, you dryly laugh. “jongho, are you even listening to yourself? you know i would never skip work: he’s too important. i work for kou, i work so i can pay the damn bills. did i go on a date? please,” the anger fades from your features, replaced by an odd calmness. “don’t make me laugh by asking stupid questions, jongho.”
“it’s not stupid,” he says, his gaze hard. “i was worried the whole time.”
“maybe you should stop worrying.”
jongho falters, blinking once, then tensing. “what?”
you shrug, “you heard me. maybe you shouldn't worry about me anymore.” you lift your hand and point at the door. “you’ve overstayed your welcome.”
Tumblr media
you glance away. should you text him? apologize for what happened in the morning? or do you ignore him until you both forget about it? well, the third one isn’t the best to do right now, but—
the phone buzzes again, and you glance down just in time for the screen to show another message.
song mingi (womanizer? co worker): are you clocking in today?
“what?” you squint at the screen. “what is he talking about?”
another message pops up on your phone.
choi soobin (good co worker): i have sumn to tell you today ;/
choi soobin (good co worker): SHIT I DINT MEAN THAT
choi soobin (good co worker): I MEATN ;/
choi soobin (good co worker): WAITTTA3TTT
choi soobin (good co worker): I MEANT :/
you clear your throat.
choi soobin (good co worker): can i have a do over
choi soobin (good co worker): i need to redeem myself
you: have at it
choi soobin (good co worker): i have sumn to tell you today ;/
choi soobin: WAITITJITK
you: i’ll see you soon then
choi soobin: NO GIRL COME BACKKCKE GIMME ANOTHER CHANCE OLSSSS
“how silly,” you chuckle, checking the time.
jongho should be gone by now, hopefully already on his way home. there’s no way he’d wait out by the parking lot for you.
except he is, or rather, he just happens to be near the parking lot. when you spot him, walking down the path with two guys, you see that he’s staring intently at his phone. then, he looks up, as if he knew you were looking at him, and meets your gaze.
he leaves his friends behind, though they trail after him, and he's quickly in front of you, his other friends right next to him. jongho is rubbing the back of his neck, a sheepish expression painting his features. “i—”
“you have got to be kidding me.”
a quick look to the right has your lips curling into a frown, seeing the redhead from days ago scowl at you. the redhead, wooyoung, glowers at you as if you’re some insect he can’t bare to look at, averting his gaze to the side and huffing. “just my damn luck…”
“well, you’re a rare sight around these grounds.”
you, jongho, and wooyoung snap your heads to the left: a man with black hair and cat-like features smiles at you. you’re about to bite back with a snarky comment on how he sounds like he’s talking in the medieval ages but with a modern twist, but wooyoung is quick to beat you to it.
“san,” wooyoung leans forwards to look at the male, “who the hell talks like that?”
san and wooyoung get into a heated argument, and you take this opportunity to step to the side and walk away with brisk steps, holding onto your bag with such strength your knuckles turns a shade paler. but you don’t make it far when jongho wraps a hand around your wrist. he’s gentle, afraid that one wrong movement will have you fleeing from him.
you look over your shoulder. “what?” your tone is harsher than what you wanted for it to sound, it has you wincing as your best friend grimaces.
his eyes, you note, are now it’s usual deep brown hue, though lighter now that the sun shines down. “i wanted to apologize for what happened this morning.”
his shoulders are tense while yours relax. you feel like a weight has been lifted off you now, like you can finally breathe. “you were an ass.”
“i know i was.”
“and you were being unreasonable.”
he huffs through his nose, the corners of his lips twitching. “you’re right.”
you swivel around and narrow your eyes at him. “and you were being weird. how the hell did you jump to the conclusion that i was seeing someone?”
jongho kicks a foot against the pavement of the sidewalk, looking down as if, suddenly, his shoes are the most interesting thing he’s ever seen. “the… the demons inside me took over. like, literally.”
“the… demons?” you repeat, confused.
he looks up, looking sincere. “yeah… i just, i genuinely don't know what happened to me. the demons literally took over and i ended up losing my cool.” jongho pauses, eyes darkening for single second while he thinks, and turns his attention back to you, the usual deep brown back. “it must be the stress getting to me and i took it out on you in such a horrible way. i truly am sorry, y/n.”
he means it, you know he does. jongho taps a finger against the side of his leg, something he does when he's nervous.
“apology accepted.”
jongho brightens, “really?”
“yeah,” you smile, deadpanning the next second, “but no more pulling whatever the hell you pulled in the morning.”
“i promise that won’t happen again.” he beams, taking a step closer to you. his arms open up, and you huff through your nose and shake your head.
jongho’s hugs are always warm when you decide to indulge in them every once in a while. he never has a tight grip around you, it’s always gentle but firm. they’re nice and manage to ease your worries and whatever tension you have away.
“i’m sorry too, you know,” you mumble against the fabric of his hoodie. you realize then it’s the one you gave back to him yesterday by the smell of the expensive detergent mixed with that of the cologne he usually wears.
“what for?”
“i said some pretty hurtful things.”
“well, i deserved them.”
you don’t say anything else, instead closing your eyes and letting out a breath you didn’t realize you were holding in. that is, until someone decides to break this moment of tranquility.
“wait…” san points an accusing finger at jongho, who merely tilts his head in confusion. “don’t tell me…”
“what?” both jongho and wooyoung say.
“is she your girlfriend?”
“what?” the statement is so absurd that it has you reeling away from jongho, squinting your eyes at san like he just said something you can’t comprehend.
jongho lets his arms fall to his side. “no.”
“oh,” san breaks out into a smile. “you don’t mind if i steal her from you then?”
your best friend scoffs and ignores san. “listen,” he says, glancing at you. “stay away from those two. they’re… not very good people.”
“then why are you friends with them?” you watch jongho’s eyes widen.
“…it’s complicated,” he grumbles, “just—just don’t get too close to them.”
just don’t get too close to them. jongho’s words echo in your mind, the scene of him dragging both his friends away replaying over and over again. you never knew he was friends with people like them, and your mind can barely wrap around the sudden realization that you actually don’t know anything regarding jongho’s personal life.
there’s a tug at your hand that brings you back to the present, eyes falling down to the eleven year old holding it. “sis,” kou says, “we’re here.”
the book store you work at is right in front of you, the words ‘LUCID DREAMS BOOKSTORE’ in gold lettering staring back at you.
the doors chime when you push them open, the smell of coffee hitting your nose. kou lets go of your hand and runs away to his usual table, dropping his things on top and then disappearing into the fiction aisle.
you make your way to the back, reaching out for the handle when the door swings open.
“what are you doing here?”
“no ‘hello?’ no ‘how are you?’” mingi pouts and wipes a fake tear away. “do you hate me, yn?”
“no,” you reply, “but what are you doing here? we don't work the same shifts here.”
your shift buddy here is choi soobin, not song mingi.
mingi grins, “starting next week we will.”
“huh? what happened to soobin?”
the culprit himself comes out from the back, a pout on his lips. “screw this.” he grumbles, his once gloomy expression morphing into a happy one when he sees you. “ynie~”
“ynie?” mingi repeats, an eyebrow raised at soobin’s sudden change in behavior.
“yeah,” soobin says, giving him the nastiest side-eye you’ve ever seen. “because she’s my favorite co-worker and i’m hers, too.”
mingi looks at you with both his brows raised, shocked at the information. “for real?”
you shrug. “yeah,” you say, “soobin’s great to work with.”
“well not anymore,” mingi replies, smiling triumphantly as if he just won a prize.
“what?”
“yeah…” soobin drawls, looking away from your questioning gaze. “mingi and i switched shifts.”
“what—”
Tumblr media
“—the hell is wrong with you?”
the door hits the wall with such frightening force that it leaves it broken with a dent. it's such a hideous thing to look at, the dent, that is. it stands out against the other pristine, white walls.
“i assume you’ll be fixing that,” seonghwa looks through the mirror in front of him at jongho, his eyes a deep maroon color, completely different to the bright red coating his lips. “right?”
jongho glares angrily at him, watching as the older male leans down, gripping the neck of the poor girl next to him. the platinum blond opens his mouth, his canines enlarging and about to pierce a new spot.
“tell her to leave.”
seonghwa stops, and his eyes turn into the hue of a ruby. “clean yourself up, bandage your neck. then you will leave this place and forget about it. today never happened.”
the girl stands up, eyes glazed over as seonghwa hands her a cloth and gauze, wiggling his fingers at her as she leaves silently. jongho hears him mumble something about killing her later as an extra precaution.
“what is it that you want, jongho?” he asks, grabbing a napkin from beside him and dabs the blood away from his lips, his eyes going to maroon and then a dark brown. “you interrupted my feeding.”
in the next second, jongho stands in front of him. seonghwa looks at him through his eyelashes, clearly unimpressed with his attitude. “well? you ought to spit out whatever is wrong before my patience wears thin.”
“you had no right to do that.”
seonghwa’s lips curl upwards into a wicked grin, eyes reflecting the amusement he feels. “ah,” he says, “so that's what this is about.”
he continues to speak at jongho’s silent rage. “i was just testing my hypnosis. i guess my theory is correct,” seonghwa doesn't falter when the collar of his white button up is fisted and he is made to lean forwards, “seeing as how it worked on you to some extent.”
“you had no right to do that,” jongho repeats. “absolutely no right.”
his thin fingers wrap around his wrists, tugging them off in one swift gesture. “i don’t understand why you’re so upset at me.”
at this, jongho scoffs, eyes blown wide from the fury that almost blinds him. “don’t understand?” he laughs through his nose, “you don’t understand why i’m so upset? i could’ve lost her because of you charming me!” he falters, the anger replaced by fear at the dangerous glimmer in seonghwa’s delighted eyes.
“so it’s a girl,” he hums. “who you care for the most. i thought it would’ve been hongjoong, maybe even yeosang.”
“don’t ever charm me again.” jongho backs away and crosses his arms over his chest. “don’t think about seeking her out either.”
“i’m not curious enough to do that to your little human,” seonghwa shrugs, “i don’t have enough time for that.”
“then why charm me at all?”
seonghwa smiles, “yunho suggested it.”
“what?”
“he told me i should try charming you to see if it works on you, told me to charm you into hurting the one you most care about.”
⋆ ˚。⋆୨♡ i like you (too much) - part 1 ♡୧⋆ ˚。⋆
Tumblr media
♡ summary: you just joined a new high school and you're hoping to make a bunch of new friends. unfortunately, you're paired up with katsuki and he seems to despise you. nevertheless, you're determined to make it work. little do you know that you're first interaction would lead to a wonderful friendship and possibly even more.
♡ pairing: bakugo katsuki x reader
♡ tags: no warnings, just fluff :) but the next couple of parts may or may not have some smut ;)
♡ notes: hi besties! I'm back finally with another fanfic after months. I'm so sorry for my hiatus, but I've been super busy with college. I'm graduating in literally in 5 days which is so exciting (neurosci and psychology BS) and also been working on a patent and been doing patient trials in the neurosci lab I volunteer at and been applying for grad programs, so its been a lot. but I'm back with a new (long) Katsuki fic now that things have finally settled! Really this was a story with my OCs, Drew and Kressie (names still yet to be confirmed but that's what I've got for now) but I thought this would still work with Bakugo. Let me know if y'all want me to post the OC version too :) hope you guys like it!
As you sit in the principal’s office with your parents, you start to drown out the principal’s monotonous voice. All you cared about in the moment was how you would fit in. Middle school had been terrible; a journey chocked full of bullies and spending lunches alone. So when your parents told you that the 3 of you were moving to a new state for your dad’s fancy new job, you thought this was your chance to wipe the slate clean. Start afresh and make some friends this time around. You’d been excited for weeks, but now sitting here about to start your first day, you felt your stomach churn with anxiety.
The principal calling your name brought you back to reality. “So Y/N are you ready to start your first day? I know it’ll be halfway through your periods, but still your first day if you think about it!”
“As ready as I’ll ever be,” you replied, picking up your backpack.
“I’ll take you to your new classroom,” said the principal, standing up and opening the door for you, gesturing you to follow him. After saying goodbye to your parents, you head outside the office with a big sigh, readying yourself. It felt like forever before you reached your classroom. Your principal knocked on the door and stuck his head inside. You heard him say something to the teacher inside, but couldn’t quite make out what. She came out a couple moments afterward and the principal left you in her hands. A short introduction later, she brought you inside to the front of the class.
“Hey everyone, I’m sorry to interrupt you all in the middle of quiet work time, but we’ve got a new student. This is (Y/N) and she’ll be in our class from now on,” she said with a big smile on her face; it was almost too cheery. “I’m hoping since you only came in a week late, it won’t be too hard to catch up with the class.” She scanned around the classroom before continuing, “Looks like we’ll have to place you in the back with Katsuki. We share one big desk between students, so I hope that’s okay with you.” You nod and the teacher turns towards her desk, reaching down to grab a packet. “Here’s what we’re working on right now; answer as best as you can and don’t worry about getting questions wrong. You’ll be sitting right over there,” pointing to the back.
You look toward where she gestured to find a guy in a black hoodie, his eyes covered by his hood and lip curled in disdain. “Fantastic,” you thought, taking the packet from your teacher’s hand. “It’d be my luck to be put right next to someone that looks like they’d kill.” You plop down in your seat and look towards your new deskmate, smiling at him as an olive branch. Maybe he was super nice and just didn’t know how to show it.
He looked at you up and down, eyebrows furrowed in confusion as if he was wondering why you’d even dare to look over. With a sigh, you turn back around and start to work on your packet. You wouldn’t consider yourself super smart, but definitely above average. But ‘above average’ wasn’t going to cut it for this packet. You chose to take Calculus to challenge you and to look better on college applications, but looking at the work in front of you, you regretted your decision. This stuff was just way too complicated, but you were determined to figure it out.
You look over at Katsuki to see whether he’s struggling too for some sort of comfort. To your disappointment, you see him flying through the work, his head practically buried in the packet. You tried again to work through the first problem. “Find the derivative of the following function...what even is a derivative?” you thought to yourself. You pulled out your phone, hoping to try and find some sort of video to explain what was going on when you felt a tap on your shoulder.
You turned around to find your teacher smiling at you once again. “Hey (Y/N), I hope the packet is going good, but in this classroom we don’t use phones to search up answers. If you’re having trouble, why don’t you ask your deskmate to help you out? I’m sure Katsuki would love to help you out!”
You slipped your phone back into your pocket, giving your teacher a tight-lipped smile in return. “Out of all people, why did I get paired with him,” you pleaded internally. After a few moments, you give up and decide to ask Katsuki for help. “Hey, uh... would you mind helping me out with this question please?” No response. You cleared your throat, hoping to draw attention to your request. Nothing, nada, zilch. It’s then that you noticed he had some earbuds in. “Maybe he really just couldn’t hear me,” you thought. A few moments of contemplation later lead you to tapping his shoulder, hoping to finally get his attention.
He whipped his head around, giving you the chance to get a good look at his face. The first thing you noticed were his eyes. His eyes were red, probably because of contacts, and were coupled with dark circles; it looked like he hadn’t had sleep in weeks. You were finally able to see his hair peeking out from under his hood which had been messily bleached blonde with brown roots growing out. His lips were still in a snarl. “What do you want?” he asked, spitting out each word with anger. “Don’t you know when people are trying to ignore you?”
A hit and a miss. There was no doubting it now; he definitely hated you. You hadn’t even been in the classroom for 20 minutes and your high school dreams of making friends were already coming crashing down. You were just about to reply when he snapped back at you “What? Just going to stare at me forever or something?”
See, you were nice, but not nice enough to let that sort of behavior go by without saying anything. “What the fuck is your problem dude? I just wanted to ask you about derivatives. Damn, a bitch can’t even be curious about math anymore,” you retorted. You were hoping to put him in his place a little, but instead, you heard him chuckle.
“Ok fine, I’ll help you out. I’ll admit, that was a little funny. But this doesn’t mean we’re all buddy buddy, okay? I just want you off my back.”
“Sure whatever gets me done with this packet,” you said, flipping through the pages of the problems till you found the one you were looking for. You pointed to the derivative question and said “Just explain this one to me and I’ll be out of your hair. I just don’t really know how to get started with it.”
With an annoyed sigh, Katsuki gets started on explaining it to you. “Okay so basically all you’ve got to do is just differentiate all 3 parts and then add it. Was that too hard for you to understand or something or did you finally get it?”
You didn’t want to say it, but you didn’t get it. What was differentiating? Subtracting? You had no clue. But you couldn’t admit that, not when he was acting so rude; you had way too much pride for that sort of confession. “Let’s say I didn’t get it. I totally did, but if I didn’t, would you be able to explain it more in depth?” you ask him, hoping he wouldn’t pick up on your lie.
Katsuki definitely picked it up. He wasn’t stupid. But he was dreading having to talk to you more. He wasn’t trying to make friends or talk to people and be all chit-chatty; all he wanted was to be left alone, but unfortunately, you didn’t seem to be picking up on that any time soon. He grabbed your sheet and put it right between you two. If you wanted a in-depth explanation, you were going to get one. Bit by bit, he explained every single step of the problem, dragging out each individual part unnecessarily. That’d teach you to bother him again.
What he did not expect was the beaming smile you gave him in return. “Thank you so much! That actually helped a ton dude! See I knew you could be nice,” you say as you bring the packet back to your side to continue working on the next couple of problems.
Your response threw him for a loop. Sure, Katsuki was confused over how he could seem nice, but what really had him was your smile. He could’ve sworn it was the sweetest smile he’d ever seen. Slightly crooked, but still shined like the sun. He turned around, pulling his hood down to cover the slight blush that had appeared on his face. He hated the feeling he had his stomach now and it was all your fault. He knew it was a bad idea to help you.
He dove into his work, trying not to focus on you. It felt like decades before the bell rang and people started packing up to move to their last period. Out of the corner of his eye, Katsuki saw you whip out a folded piece of paper, which opened up to reveal your schedule. He heard you sigh as he was packing up and he already knew what was coming. As soon as he came back up from zipping his backpack, he was met with your eyes looking at him and he knew you were about to bother him again.
“Uh... so I’ve got my next period in room 2301, but I have no idea how to get there. I think its English Lit with Ms. Carlisle, but like we only have 10 minutes to get there and I don’t want to get lost. Do you mind just giving me some quick directions?” you ask.
He wanted to say no and tell you to get lost. But it seemed like his mouth betrayed him when he heard himself saying “Yeah ok, I”ll take you there.”
“Oh! I mean you don’t have to really take me to the room, but I appreciate it a lot!” you reply cheerily with another one of your smiles.
“Do her cheeks never hurt from all that smiling?” Katsuki thought to himself. “It’s whatever, I’m in the same class too so I don’t give a shit.” he said, standing up and slinging his bag over one shoulder.
He starts walking away and you take that as a sign to start walking or be left alone in the classroom. With a wave to your teacher, you speed up to catch up to him. It was a bit awkward walking beside him but not talking. You’d initiate some sort of conversation, but it looked like he was ready to bite your head off and you already felt like you were pushing it.
Thankfully, Katsuki ended the awkward silence between you two, “So.... like, where did you move from?”
“From Florida, but not like city Florida, think like retirement home type of Florida. North Florida specifically.” you rambled, trying to fill up the silence between you for a bit longer.
“Cool, so you’ve like seen gators and shit then?” he said, looking down towards you. It was then that he took notice of the height difference between the two of you. He wasn’t super tall by any means, but compared to you he felt like a giant.
“I mean I’ve seen a couple snakes, gators... and a few lizards too! Nothing too scary though!” you say with a smile. He nodded in response and a silence settled over you two again. You started to rack your brain for something to say to keep the conversation going, when you suddenly felt a yank on your backpack.
“Don’t just fucking walk off, we’re here, English Lit,” Katsuki says, pulling you back to the front of the door after you’d walked right past it.
“Oh! Thank you” you reply, holding the door open. “After you.”
Katsuki felt weird walking into class and it had nothing to do with the quiz the class had to do today. He walked over to his usual desk and felt you follow behind before sitting down right next to him. You put your bag down in your seat and walked over to the teacher, probably to go introduce yourself. It was obvious to Katsuki that he wasn’t getting rid of you or the weird feeling you gave him every time you smiled anytime soon.
He was brought out of his thoughts by the sweetest laugh he had ever heard. He turned towards the source of the sound and he wasn’t surprised to see it came from you. It seemed like everything you did added to that weird feeling he felt in his stomach. He hated it. You sat back down next to him, syllabus in hand along with a couple of other forms for you to fill out.
Class seemed to drag on forever for Katsuki. It took everything in him to focus on what the teacher was saying rather than how your eyebrows were furrowed in concentration and how you chewed your pencil from time to time and how you drew tiny little flowers and hearts on your notes whenever you got bored. The bell finally rang, releasing Katsuki from what seemed to be his own personal hell. He got up wordlessly to walk towards his car, ready to leave and go home. He made it a couple of paces outside of class before he felt a small tap on his arm.
He turned around to see you looking up at him with big eyes. “Hey.. uhh.. Could I maybe get your number? We have to finish that packet by tomorrow’s class and I know there’s a good chance I could be confused again, so I was hoping to maybe get your help again?” you ask.
How could he refuse those eyes? With a sigh, he held his phone out to you. You looked up at him quizzically. “Do I need to explain everything to you? Put your number in already. I’ll text you back so you can have mine” he snapped.
You took his phone and typed in your number, saving your contact while you were at it. “There you go, all saved and everything,” you say. You couldn’t even fully finish your sentence before Katsuki snatched his phone out of your hands.
“Well, it was nice meeting you Katsuki, but I’ve got to head to the buses soon. I think my bus is leaving in like literally 10 minutes. It was nice meeting you though and hope to see you tomorrow,” you say, running off to catch the bus before you were left without a ride.
“Nice to meet you too, I guess,” he whispered to himself. He hoped you didn’t hear it. He walked to his car, throwing his bag into the backseat and putting his head on the steering wheel. “What’s going on with me? Why is everything so weird all of a sudden?” he thought. He took his phone out from his hoodie, looking for your contact and, more importantly, to put a name to your face.
It wasn’t hard to find since it was the only contact that stuck out like a sore thumb. “Y/N..” he said, reading out your name. He noticed a small smiley face beside your name, a sweet detail that caused an unconscious smile to cross his lips. It didn’t take him long to notice and he immediately shook his head trying to drive his smile away. He put his head back on the wheel with a thud, letting out a frustrated groan. That weird and uneasy feeling in his stomach had come back again and he had a feeling it wasn’t going anywhere anytime soon.
