"Once the terms are signed, we can probably send Bran back. The boy is crippled and no military mind. He'll never lead men himself. More importantly, he's old enough to remember both you and Rickon and not wish to put your lives in peril." And clearly doesn't have the personality for that sort of decision. oh hundreds, certainly. probably thousands, given just how long i've been reading fic. i wouldn't say i look at fic and go 'oh i need to do this exact thing like that' but i would say a) im an amalgamation of everything i've ever touched/read/watched/experienced and b) that i do look at lots of my friends' stuff and go wow they r so good i hope i am that good some day. lots of people whose stuff i admire and want to emulate for lots of reasons!! im just not someone who picks apart their own writing like That? so. i did JUST tell dees @leclercenjoyer that i've always been like "god i hope my fics r even half as chewy and cash register noise inducing as yours" the other night. if you go to like, the earliest four pages of my bookmarks (on my f1 pseud specifically lol.) you'll find lots of fic i've probably parasitically bitten bits off of and absorbed into my own stuff. actually honestly all . pages of my bookmarks. i think i've probs nabbed quite a bit off of @freeuselandonorris @monacotrophywife @glasscushion et. al. (amongst Many Many Others) for SURE although to what degree i could not tell you. somebody should go read my old pre-f1 fic and report back on if there's any noticeable differences besides the glaring lack of porn. cuz if there is then i got it from somewhere 'round here. this is such a non-answer im so sorry i would love if i was self-aware enough as a writer to go oh yes THIS influenced me in this specific way etc etc. but i write more uh instinctually than intellectually

I think thats my biggest ick with idols in general they seem very mixed in terms of what they want in their readings as well like sometimes one of them wants a relationship but at the same time doesnt want someone whos always clingy to them 24/7 like sorry how do they expect their partner to be then? especially younger ppl are going to be like I get it if its a personal space thingy but at the same time they either do or dont want romance in their lives. that or a lot of it comes from their own insecurities too which you also wouldnt want to deal with if you have your own insecurities

and actually given the age demographic of their fan bases i can see older fans being slightly put off by wanting to engage in a romantic relationship with the members because mentally skz seem very young? esp felix i think some members could easily be taken advantage off whilst others need to dial their egos down a tad if they want a serious relationship (me talking about an idols relationship despite the fact ive never been in one myself lmaoooooooooo)

i do! i have a horrible habit of letting them build up for about a month and then going through them in one sitting which is strangely draining but that's my own stupid issue. one thing i will say though is that i've noticed a real trend at the moment for comments on standalone fics (that are clearly marked as such) where they comment just says something like I NEED MORE!! or SEQUEL PLEASE!! and... i don't really know how to respond to them? i know it's meant as a compliment but there's no real way to positively reply bc i feel like i have to be like, well sorry but there prob won't be a sequel, thanks though. idk maybe i'm overthinking it!

What's the fic you've written with the angstiest ending?

probably either some poor sucker at the bottom of the lake (it's an ambiguous ending really but it's heavily implied that he's just blown up oscar's relationship with lily and with lando himself) or sweet dreams (are made of this) in the sense that oscar's been locked into this faustian pact with a soul-sucking demon that's heavily implied to be mind controlling him into wanting it. so not angsty per se but very much not happy or healthy either!

What's the fic you've written with the happiest ending?

most of my fics have happy endings beause i'm a sucker for it! i think that one from work can come over on monday night is a stand-out in terms of it feeling like a very sweet payoff for the slow build-up, but actually i think it might be one of the mondayverse sequels, it's just self-defence until you're building a weapon, because it's a fic that starts out with lando in quite a bad headspace and then he and oscar work through it together (via sex, obviously) and end up stronger for it, which i think is a particularly sweet way to end.

Do you write crossovers?

not in the true sense of the word. the cyberpunk AU is the closest i've ever come in the sense that the setting and lore is very, very heavily lifted from cyberpunk 2077 and neuromancer, but it's not a true crossover. i don't really have any interest in them tbh.

writing around the point for ages instead of actually getting to it. overusing adverbs. reusing the same stock phrases and sentence structures. overusing "feels" and "seems". digressions.

What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?

i went through a phase of doing this a lot when i was writing a lot of formula e fic and putting in random bits of french but i've really gone off it now. sometimes it's warranted (e.g. person 1 says something to person 2 in french and person 3 doesn't understand french and is left wondering what they were saying), or the odd exclamation, but generally it's just a bit pretentious i think. my worst pet peeve is when ESL people are written to suddenly forget how to speak english because of the force of their orgasm or whatever. can a bilingual person confirm to me if that's ever happened to them please.

What was the first fandom you wrote for?

placebo, the english rock band, back in like the late 00s lmao. there was a whole rpf section on their official fan forum on their website, so i learned the rpf is fine mentality at a young age.

hmm not sure actually. in F1, probably galex, or lewis/franco. fandom-wise, not a clue. it's pretty rare that i actually have the desire to write for a new fandom.

oughhhh. in terms of just the one i'm most fond of, i think it has to be that one from work can come over on monday night. i'm so proud of it and it feels like getting into a warm bath. in terms of the quality of the writing, frustratingly it's the now-hidden toto wolff/christian horner fic with bonus christian/geri. it was rancid and sharp and i was so proud of it. other than that, i love some poor sucker at the bottom of the lake and like milk from a baby because they both pushed me out of my writing comfort zone and i think they succeeded in what i wanted them to achieve.

No that's not quite right, I do Discord rp and have played as men before, I think it's just more the fact that I write not just for other people but for myself too? If you read the dialogue for my demos and stuff, you'd probs be able to tell that this is all VERY self-indulgent—the reader's responses aren't really as neutral as I want them to be, leaning towards actions and phrases that I would use rather than cater to the general 'neutral' audience

I barely did I had no warning and I was just genuinely MAD about how much I cried but not because it was saying anything profound it was just like direct emotional manipulation with no catharsis. if I wanted to cry about a dead parent while watching 90s genre tv I would go re-watch btvs The Body.

hi my answer got long you DONT have to read it but god see i TOTALLY GET THAT! and it's so funny bc my friend and i were actually debating whether the "worst" in your ask meant "lowest quality" or "toughest to get through" and your answer was literally both. i am literally so fucking sorry it happened to you like that and you deserve it the least of anyone bc it is HORRIBLE to have to deal w all of that out of nowhere. but you SAVED MY LIFE! if i had randomly had to deal w that after the day i had tuesday (the day we were supposed to have watched it) i COULD NOT HAVE COPED. like, for example, i actually had to quit the tng episode where geordi's mom dies (7.03 interface) like halfway through because it totally blindsided me and i was just so, so, SO angry at it, i felt like it was stringing me/geordi along for nothing - i googled whether or not they found her alive and when i got a "nope" i too noped. absolutely the fuck not. hard pass.

but then i go back and read the transcript, and like...yes, i still think the episode has too much technobabble, and i personally find tng clunky on all but its very best day, and geordi's "goodbye"/catharsis felt extremely rushed/like an afterthought, but we also have this speech from riker:

and i think if i had met that in a better headspace, having been warned about the episode in advance, i would have received it a LOT better, because it speaks (albeit indirectly) to my own personal shit yk. i actually quit before this speech and then watched the rest of the episode on 2x speed to get it over with, and had to stop and play it normally during this moment. it ruined the effect for me and in my mind this episode is still a dud for me, even though with the passage of time i have come to conclude it is not TOTALLY without merit.

so i do totally get why you don't like the visitor, i absolutely respect your experience w it, AND I OWE YOU HUGE ONEEE, but i do have to humbly disagree about the episode. this is mostly to get my own thots out so absolutely zero offense if you wanna stop reading here lol. but like i think it has a slightly different vibe than the body, which involves like, the sheer shock of it happening out of nowhere, and those first few hours of denial and grief just like. trying to comprehend the nature of death and how someone can just be GONE. i don't even really like btvs (i mostly don't like wh*don, it's complicated) and i think it's high art. like, the pinnacle of tv.

but i think the visitor was saying something different. or actually i think it was saying the same thing the pilot did, in a way. this isn't the first few hours after finding joyce dead in the living room, this is weeks and months and years and DECADES later, and jake Still Exists Here. sisko, quite literally, still exists here, has NO CHOICE but to exist in the moment of the accident forever. (for him, this entire episode lasted like ten minutes at MOST - and shoutout to him for being able to roll with the punches and put jake first anyway through all of that - when he gets back to his own time, it's going to feel like a bad trip or a bad dream.) and because sisko literally can't move on, and is stuck to jake, jake ALSO can't move on.

jake had begun to heal - he had a wife and a career and he was thinking about kids - when he accepted that sisko was gone for good. he healed after his mother's death because he was able to accept her death and because he had the support of people like his father. but once he realized his dad's ghost would be showing up every so often, that there was a possibility he WASN'T gone for good, he threw himself at that problem with everything he had...and lost everything he had. wife, career, hope for his future, all of it. the episode was saying something: that if you don't move on you won't move on. if you can't let go then you can't let go. if you don't heal then you won't heal. jake exists HERE and he is pulling his dad, and his grief, forward into the future with him like a LITERAL ball and fucking chain. i mean, he's got the baseball and photograph ON his writing desk. sisko gets only a few minutes of life at a time, and he uses every second of them to be in the moment with jake and ask about his life and comfort him. jake gets DECADES and he lets them pass him by without so much as "popping his head up," and misses his OWN LIFE, because he is burning his years like pocket money hoping to use them to buy back SISKO'S life.

i do have slightly mixed feelings on the ending - does jake committing suicide to get his father back nail the point home, that it'll kill you if you let it, or does his starting to work on his stories again before he died tell us that he figured out the secret was to live life while you had it, if even for just a few minutes? is "cutting the cord" jake throwing away the last thing he has into the insatiable black hole of his grief, or is it him letting go and/or doing something selfless? maybe both, which is nuanced, but it also muddies the waters/message a little. like, i def can't think of a cleaner solution to set the situation back to status quo - i just wish we'd had time for a slightly cleaner ending, and/or one more scene after the end, where we acknowledge that sisko is now stuck with knowledge of something jake will never have*. bc there IS catharsis when sisko gets back to jake (wish fulfillment? in fiction, unlike reality, you someday get to be done having a dead dad if you do enough aging and grieving and growing) but!! it only lasts for .5 seconds :/

*also, he watched his child die. i can't get into interst*llar too much on here cuz thats bad for me (dead parent people dont watch it Ever) but the bit about "no parent should have to watch their child die" acting as justification for cooper leaving murph AGAIN when the whole film all she asked of him was to STAY was flimsy there, and a miss for me, and definitely lacked catharsis. but this episode is better than interstellar bc even though it's true that no parent should have to watch their child die sisko DID stay and did it anyway even though it was awful to have to do. separated by time and space they DID find each other again...we just didn't to enjoy that reunion, really.

anyway, i do think this was You Exist Here, Dead Parent Version but i do fully completely 110% understand that if this episode had blindsided me i would think it was garbage and would want to kill the people who wrote it with a fucking hammer. so i actually enjoyed this episode because of you, specifically. a perhaps unwilling (at the very least unknowing) gift from you to me. thank you <3

OOH thats actually interesting, and i agree! it actually brings to light the parallels between both harry and mattheo! harry potter being this amazing child who survived voldy, and then mattheo riddle who's feared due to being related by that same man by blood. tbh, dumbledore was probably a bit hesitant and nervous to approach mattheo abt his situation with voldy but im not entirely sure abt it (im not that caught up with dumbledore lore, sorry 😭),, but i agree that he will give vv big special treatment to both mattheo and harry!!

THIS IS THE LORE THAT IVE BEEN MISSING. i think this 'harry-mattheo' part tends to be overlooked (?? then again im not too sure, since whenever i scroll in tumblr i see mostly fics HAHAH, not that im complaining tho),, but my hcs were a bit related to the parallels i mentioned above ^^, it's like harry is in the light and mattheo's in the dark. harry's praised for his power (??) for surviving against the attacks of voldy as a baby and as the 'chosen one', whilst mattheo was in fact feared from being relatively tied, body and soul to voldemort. mattheo was never praised for withstanding the bs his father did and for being strong from the things he individually experienced as a son yk.

dear god anon i hope you took a nice rest when you got home from college- rememeber to put your health first before anything else! you can't flourish or give it your all if your body is ready to collapse any second.

I recently graduated earlier this year (around may) so i can totally understand the stress, but treat yourself well and i hope you got the very much needed rest. also don't be sorry, i get you and not wanting to be touched in such a vulnerable situation. well sorta anyway, i can perfectly initiate physical touch with others, but when others try it with me it's always a 50/50 chance that i will not even let them touch me or pull away after a few seconds HAHA (friends and family alike).

but as for how jing yuan would react i'm pretty sure he would notice pretty quick - he has quite a good eye for details after all! he pays close attention to everything around him, so picking up a few habits of some people would be a piece of cake for him. but if he's unsure i'm sure he would be the type to actually test the waters, if you're able to talk under such panic attacks he would softly ask and then just stay by your side as a presence if you were to confirm his suspicions!

if you weren't able to confirm or deny anything, i think he would try first. not go straight for a hug, but place a comforting hand and test the waters ya know? and if you were to first say yes then later say no he wouldn't question it - if anything if it stresses u out more after he would just placate you with the same :3 smile he sports.

i def get what you mean about it starting slow, i also felt the same and kept trying to compare it to tokyo ghoul in my mind 😔✊ once the pace picks up tho, i started enjoying it a lot more! the plot is more confusing imo, at least currently (take this with a grain of salt, bc i may just be stupid 😭), but it's still engaging! i definitely wouldn't say it's as good as tokyo ghoul, but i still think it has the potential to be really amazing! the characters are great and the art is absolutely amazing (i mean, it's ishida after all 😩🙌) so im still loving it even tho it doesn't quite match up to TG so far in my opinion

and i think there's quite a few similarities between eto and one of the characters! (not sure if u want me to tell u who, i don't wanna accidentally spoil anything), but i haven't seen anyone post about it so it might just be me who thinks this..... 💀 imo both characters share similar struggles, they're both in a gray area in terms of morals as seen by others, and their aesthetics absolutely SLAP in a very similar chaotic way 😩🙌

i'm not sure if i have a fave character yet (i'm a bit behind rn oops) but i'd prob say either tokio or sora? tokio is kind of pathetic but i relate to him a lot 😅 i also rlly like a lot of the side characters like nari and maiko!

Hey anon! Someone also suggested this as a oneshot and I've thought about it a little bit! I don't know exactly what will go down if this were completely written out, but here are some general ideas:

Canon Tenzin

He'll probably hear some distorted voices while getting carried back to the island, and see hazy visions of Lin by his side along with these new faces who look so much like her. Some of them are saying "Dad" and he is not coherent enough to ask who they are and he knocks out

I think the kids' feelings are really gonna hurt when they hear him say "You're not my children. I'm sorry, I don't know who you are." Lin is prob pissed lmao

When they find out he's not their own Tenzin, there's def gonna be an interview haha He has so many mixed emotions bc this is the life he envisioned and wanted with Lin, these are their children who he daydreamed about having. Here they are now, he's learning about their personalities and knows what they look like

All of the kids are gonna spar him bc how dare he break up with their mother and marry an acolyte in the same year? They're all gonna win bc they know how to beat him 🤣

Lin is gonna be the one who has the most difficult time with him. She wants her husband back, this is not the one she created a life and family with. Tbh for some reason, I can see her actually pulling away from canon Tenzin while the kids are the ones spending more time with him. The kids are familiar of their parents' history together, but Lin and Tenzin are the ones who lived it together (albeit different experiences with this switch) and they both take it the hardest

Despite her frustrations with him, she wouldn't turn her back on him. Just make him sleep in another room until he goes back to canon lol

He's also prob trying to stay in this universe ngl and Lin wants her airhead back

AU Tenzin

I feel so bad for him

While I think he'll be very cordial and civil when addressing Pema and her kids, it's quite obvious that he has no emotional connection to her or them. I can see Pema trying to spark that connection with him, but he's very clear on his boundaries that he's married to Lin and he has children with Lin and will remain faithful to her. While he may look like her husband, he's not.

Compared to AU Lin who has only two photos on her, Tenzin has multiple photos lmao he has a family photo and individual ones of the kids when they're all young.

He's trying to spend more time with Lin, but he's learning very quickly that she was hurt badly in this universe. She's the only connection he really has and he wants to be there to support her. Meanwhile Lin trying not to get lured by how much better this version of airhead is is getting a headache figuring out how he can go home to his family. But she's genuinely curious about their life together

Lin would act like she doesn't care about the photos, but inside she's studying it so intently. Wondering what they're all like, what their voices sound like, how the atmosphere feels if she were to ever meet them. Tenzin is hyping them up lol he prob also tries to hype her up and she's building up an extra wall

I think if he were switched, he wouldn't be in other world for very long. He'd prob stay for there for no more than a week? I really enjoyed this ask bc I haven't had the chance to think super hard about Tenzin switching xD if you have any other ideas that you want to see as a oneshot to expand on the CCC fic, feel free to send bc I only have a few atm 🥲 im gonna do a short one of pema being switched to AU world but this is after Lin gives birth to the twins just to be spiteful mwahahaha
