Been Watching Weird Fruit Explorer(?)... and I just...
W-Who let Bored Danny have BooTube?
Sorry, YOU-Tube. He has TWO Apps now. BooTube is bigger. Way more random, yet... somehow more niche? Meh. It's what happens when you get billions of billions of people who all have their own Obsessions to rant over, on a site.
Ember's channel is pretty lit, tho, ngl.
He stopped using YOU-Tube almost overnight. Too many ads, weird algorithmic pushiness. No thanks. It was too small and too "trying to take my money". You know?
Buuuuut? See.... TUCKER is the Tech guy.
Coding and that sort of stuff. HE does hands on work. You want a toaster? He can MAKE you a toaster! With LAZERS! Runs off The Goo! But a program? Eeeeeeeh? Hit it with hammer maybe? Monkey make fire? Hit with stick? Blergh.
Yeah, he can SORTA push through.
But he suuuucks.
And like... he had a headache, okay? His project had just, quiet literally, exploded in his face. So when he looked at his phone? All the apps were blobs. He clicked the one that LOOKED kinda right. Shoved his arm in his phone and brute forced a channel set up.
He figured he could ramble about Space!
It's not like he cared is anyone LISTENS or not! It's a "for him" thing, you know? Like a diary. But more... putting on a ☆~show~☆?
So he rambles from the floor of his Lair's Lab, crashs and wails in the distance, green sky occasionally visible as he lazily floats by windows. Dropping... juuuust past human knowledge understanding of Space. Talking like he's STUDYING somewhere. Referencing PAPERS no human will ever be able to find.
But a few they WILL.
Some of which, are currently? Only half written.
But then? Oh YEAH... he should eat! You know... Sam keeps bringing him fruits and veggies and stuff from her internship at that Botanical Lair. Stuff never seen before of Earth. Or hasn't been seen in centuries.
Again, like, a FEW that? Randomly? Have???
He picks up something sharply purple, bright orange insides. Crisp crunch. He makes a face. And starts to ramble about it, distracted from Space. "Weirdly mushroom-y" he notes. "Kinda bubblegum sweet? But like... CHEAP bubblegum. Like it hits you all at once and is kinda chemically. But it disappears real fast? Huh. Spicy too..."
It's the first video on the Playlist. One of hundreds. Two of the green Lanterns RECONIZE that fruit ad HIGHLY toxic to humans, can't recognize what planet they're seeing. Or how this alien teen got himself on YouTube.
He seems... unaware of how incredibly famous he's become.
But his strange techno Pharoah friend has not. HE is both perfectly aware and apparently amused. Has taken to feeding him rare and hazardous flora and fauna, to see if it tastes good.
....there have been an alarming number of plants from dead planets.
And the comments the kid makes? Alarming as hell.
Sam's just pleased everybody's getting their greens. Danny's glad him n tuck get to hang and do "try weird foods and fuck around, bro time". They've made lazers! Talked about stuff! Debated why Martian Manhunter is THE superior Justice League member.
Danny understands. Wonder Woman is a BAMF. But he's biased, Tucker. He doesn't CARE if she has a sword and flowy, impressive locks! Shape-shifting telepath! From MARS!!! *imaginary mic drop*
And Tucker? Is conquering the YouTube scene with this charming, weird, relatable young alien. Who rambles about Space, debates nerd stuff, eats weird plants and describes them, and makes sci-fi technology! Theme? WHAT THEME? Phantom is a weird channel, man. You never know what you'll find!
And no one can get rid of it.
Believe them, governments have TRIED. Censorship? Not possible. Not without removing the whole SITE.

Despite being among humans for close to a decade, I still find their tendency to overcomplicate and avoid aspects of social situations to be confusing at best and infuriating at worst. So much time is wasted on tedious matters such as who gets to 'make the first move' or 'not come off too strong'.
For example, everyone aboard my vessel is keenly aware of Lt. Uhura and Engineer Scott's 'budding romance'. But their need to extend their oddly avoidant courtship ritual, rather than outright state their interest in one another, is pointless, as well as frustrating to witness.
Why do they do this? Why not 'get it over with', as they say?
I encourage answers from all cultures, human or otherwise.

based on this AMAZING ask!!
“Oi, Olls,” Simon looks down at the skinned arm and then back to the utterly unaffected five-year-old (who just took a rather nasty tumble off the slide). It was an easy back day at the county fair, which for the record he thought was a horrible idea with a five-month old yet Johnny said it would be fun for Oliver and his niece, Jane. Simon tried to get a good look at the wound, covered in dirt and pebbles, “Lad lemme-”
“Dad-dad, I got go- Janie! Wait up!” Oliver snipped in reply, pulling his arm away and trying to take off after his new friend, and he succeeded, taking off to the next ride wait line- where Jane was already standing among the groups of children and teens with the bright red balloon tied to her wrist.
Of course, he watched the boy run through the crowds and only stood to direct his gaze to Johnny as he stood up, not saying anything but trying to see past the groups to get a good look at the kids- but he could see the red balloon.
“Think the girls are havin fun?” Johnny asked, leaning onto the stroller.
To that Simon shrugged looking down to Tess, who was thankfully very much asleep amidst the loud noises, “‘m sure they are.”
“Shoppin, wine tasting annnn,” Johnny faltered as he thought, looking to the sky as Simon knelt down to fix the baby blanket. Though it was loud and the crowds were bustling it still had a sense of peace about it, small town, small fair but it was enough to make the two kids feel as if they were teleported to the best place on the planet. “An’- gah, Sarah said somethin else, can’t ‘member what though.”
“Jus gettin dolled up or somethin,” Simon mumbled under his breath and then placed a chaste kiss against the baby’s forehead before standing up to his full height, looking around for the same bright red balloon.
Only…the balloon was floating away.
It took about five strides to get from where he had been to the line where Olly and Jane were supposed to be, yet there was a stunning lack of them both.
He must have called the kid's names twice before Johnny had caught on to what was going on, yet the only thing Simon could think of doing was telling him to go get security, he asked the people if they had seen them- his voice harsh and causing the looks on the parent's face’s to pale.
He couldn’t find them.
No one seemed to even see them.
“A little boy- he’s missin his front tooth, striped shirt with a dinosaur on it.”
“I’m sorry man, that sounds like every kid I’ve seen today.”
…
“Jane,” Ollie said slowly following his friend reluctantly through the corridors of the ‘haunted house’ which they had snuck in through the back, since there was a thirteen-plus age restriction on the attraction, “Janie I reaaaalllly don’t think this is good idea.”
To that the four-year-old frowns, her pigtails swinging as she looks at him, the blue light and fog doing nothing to ease his fears, “Uncle Johnny always say we got face fears! An you said you are scared of the scary ghosts.”
“Scary is literally in name, Janie!” Ollie countered crossing his arms, “Uncle Johnny and my dad are gonna be mad.”
Jane shook her head, clawing up on the ladder to reach the main level, “Uncle Johnny doesn’t get mad at me, mum said it’s cus ‘m cute…Uncle Simon might get mad though.”
Ollie frowned from his spot, looking up at her as she began to disappear from the view, he couldn’t leave her alone, he was older than her and his dad did ask him to look over her. So, he swallowed down his fear and followed behind her, the steam and fog making it a bit hard to see for a moment before he was able to stand up again- the lights dim and red and the floor underneath them seemed to be uneasy, red liquid smeared along the rotted wood and the low groan of something was enough to make him want to cry.
However Janie was walking forward, so he quickly followed, moving to walk just a bit in front of her- grabbing her hand and doing his best to act brave when in reality he was not.
Ollie stopped walking when they heard a voice from behind, and he turned to look around for a split second, only for Jane to let out a shrill scream and he turned his head to look ahead again- to only mimic her scream. Shoving her behind himself as what seemed to be a literal monster jumped from behind a barrel.
“Oh SHIT! CUT IT!!”
A voice suddenly yelled, and then the monster ripped off the mask, revealing a normal-looking kid, probably sixteen, “Whoa-hey-hey, you guys- JERRY FUCKIN CUT THE LIGHTS.” The kid screamed at the ceiling for a moment for the overhead lights to flicker back on and the noises stopped.
“Hey,” The kid knelt down to look at the now sobbing children, “Hey, my name is Kyle. How’d ya-oh cmon…it’s okay, I’m not scary.”
“You-you ghost!” Ollie screamed.
“No! No, it’s just a costume, ya know on how on halloween you dress up? I’m jus dressing up, I’m not gonna-oh okay, you’re crying…again, okay…” Kyle tried to explain, then looking to his coworker, Margo who was dressed as a zombie, utterly hopeless about the now two screaming and sobbing toddlers.
“Called security,” Margo huffs out as she sits down to look at the toddlers, who were much more relaxed once they offered slushies, and she looks to Kyle, “They said two creepy guys said they lost their kids but thought they were lyin.”
Kyle frowns and leans back in his chair after he and Margo had made a lazy attempt at cleaning off their makeup and explained to the kids it seemed to calm them down, plus the slushies of course. “Hey kiddo, can you tell me your name? So the nice people-
“My dad says to not talk to strangers.”
Margo gives the kid a look and leans forward on the table, “He’s smart, that’s smart- but we need to-”
“Margo-”
“OLIVER.”
It would be an understatement to say Kyle and Margo picked those kids up within a millisecond, because what they saw were two men that could break them both in half within a second and who did not look like father material walking towards them.
“That’s my kid.” One of them barked out, pointing to the little boy, who was just happily sipping his slushy.
Kyle scoffs, “And I’m the fucking king of England.”
To that Margo tried to then play damage control, “Listen, I don’t want to have to call sec-”
“Uncle Johnny we saw scary ghost!!” The little girl exclaimed happily.
“See? That’s my niece and the boys mine. Give me my kid.”
Margo and Kyle exchanged looks and then looked to the little boy, who only caught on when he saw the man’s look and he nodded eagerly, messy hair falling in front of his face.
“That’s Ister Riley he and my mom are married. He’s my dad.”
…
“I jus wanna be brave ‘ike you Uncle Johnny,” Jane said as they drove home, still sipping her oversized slushie.
Johnny and Simon had agreed to not mention this, to act like it never happened, for their sake. “I know, princess, an’ yer so so brave.”
“I no longer scared of ghosts.” Ollie said mindlessly, staring out the window.
That caught Simon’s attention and he looked back through the rearview mirror, checking on Tess with a quick glance and then to Olliver, “Oi? Yeah?”
“Mmmhm, cause ghosts are jus nice people wearin costumes.”
(annnnyway that's it!! feedback and comments are the easiest way to let me know you liked my work!! thanks to everyone for their support!)

Nutshell.
Tumblr media
“Let’s put you out of your misery,” Doom says, checking the charge on his blasters while keeping an eye on the stray droid crawling towards an abandoned E-5 rifle.
.
“You’re mine,” Doom grits out, gets his fingers around the leg of the droid making for General Tiplar. He pulls, rolls. The droid is on his chest and he clamps an arm around it, sinks his knife into its neck. Wipes the blood out of his eyes.
.
“I need answers,” Doom says, arms crossed so he doesn’t try to strangle the holo. “See that you get them.”
“I will get them,” Rex promises, voice stoic to resemble a Commander’s.
Doom doesn’t snort but it’s a close call.
“I’m sorry for your lo—“
He flicks the comm off. He doesn’t have the capacity for niceties.
Tiplee is slowly finishing the transport box for her sister. “We fought a lot growing up,” she says. “We were in separate crèche clans even.”
His jaw ticks under his bucket.
“We only grew close once we were both adults. People are in motion, always. In body, in spirit. Sometimes you are only meant to meet at later points in your life even if you’ve known each other since you were born.” She strokes a careful hand over Tiplar’s forehead. “I will let you say your goodbyes.”
Doom steps up to the box once Tiplee is gone.
Tiplar hasn’t gone grey yet. There’s a furrow burnt in her brows, the confusion over a clone shooting her carrying her to death.
“I will watch over her,” he states. Promises don’t mean anything in war. So he doesn’t promise. His heart skips a beat. He was meant to watch over Tiplar as well.
.
“Botany,” he slurs out, clinks his cup to Tiplee’s when she holds hers up. “I love sunshine. And plants. There’s so many!”
“I’m gonna,” she hiccups, booze sloshing over the rim of her cup when she points at him, “I’m gonna sneak you into the gardens in the Temple and show you the strawberry patch.”
“Sneak?” He thought everything in the Triple Zero Temple is free to roam for all Jedi.
“Totally,” Tiplee agrees with an enthusiastic nod and he realizes he’s spoken aloud. “But sneaking is funnierer— funner— funyun?”
He nods right back. “Funyun sounds right.”
.
“What do you mean, poisoned?” Doom asks. According to survival sim training, the strawberries look pretty unpoisoned.
Tiplee holds up a berry, turns it around a bit. “The Dark is ever growing. Spreading throughout the Galaxy, into the earth of every planet. It has changed the very matter of things.” She smiles up at him. “I remember them sweeter.”
.
“I will help your strawberries be the best they can be, I— promise.” He wretches the word out of himself. Pulls and pulls until it’s off his tongue and out in the open. “Hold on until then, yes?”
Tiplee smiles at him, taps her thumb against his temple. “Doom, you have found a place where you feel you are meant to be. It will be alright even if my time has come.”
.
“Uhm,” he says. Blinks. Swallows.
Maxir leans back, hands disappearing into the robe sleeves. “I’ve read this wrong?”
Probably not? “I don’t know,” he almost says until instinct takes over to not show indecisiveness. “Yes.”
Maxir’s face colors. He doesn’t tend to get cute blush spots high on his cheeks but rather an all consuming flush that looks close to blistering. “I’m sorry. I misjudged. It will not happen again.”
Jedi are so graceful in their apologies, Doom has learned. It’s charming.
He holds up a ripe non-perfect strawberry. “You look like this.”
“I beg your pardon—“
.
“You’re safe,” Doom gasps, wildly looking at Maxir’s frozen figure. “You’re safe.”
“Come here. Sit down.”
The calm authority in Maxir’s voice has him on his feet and back on the ground before he knows it.
“You are safe,” Maxir reassures him for whatever reason, filling Doom’s spotty vision and leaving room for not much else. “May I touch you?”
It’s a new helper droid. Gangly limbs for reaching deep into the foliage without damaging it. Looking like a B-1. The clippers looking like a blaster.
Its head lies halfway across another crop’s field. The body stabbed with its own limbs and the clippers.
“You are safe.”
Doom doesn’t believe him yet.
.
“I don’t recognize you anymore,” Doom says to his reflection.
There’s laughter lines around his eyes, his mouth. He has freckles from the sun. Permanent dirt under his nails he recognizes as dirt, not blood. His body is covered in flowers.
Last night he met up with the last of the 962nd and Master Tiplee. Six, Mimic, and a few others had helped him haul around the huge crates of produce into the AgriCorps’ building and kitchen.
They’d blasted each other’s asses while peeling, tasting, cooking, and fighting over seasoning. They fell asleep under the stars, occupying chairs and hammocks dotting the terraces. Tiplee had drooled on his shoulder, the tips of her fingers still red with strawberry juice.
“I don’t recognize you anymore.”
“Mrnng,” Maxir mumbles, slowly shuffling his way past Doom to the shower.
“Maybe that’s a good thing,” Doom says to his reflection.
.
“No,” Doom murmurs, wrings his shoulder against the doorframe to Maxir’s office.
The desk is cluttered with data pads and flimsiwork bearing the AgriCorps seal. Analyzing crop conditions and rotations has taken up most of what is left of their day after tending to the fields and labs.
Maxir looks at him over his glasses before pushing them up, ruffling the short hair just under one of the horns. “No? I surely thought there was caf left…”
Doom pushes himself away from the door, takes the three steps to the desk before sitting down on a free-ish spot. “No, you didn’t read it wrong,” he non-explains. “Also, for safety reasons I disposed of the last of the caf.”
Maxir glances at the clock above the desk. “It’s been five hours. The sludge level must still be within reason.”
Doom blinks blandly at him.
Maxir blinks back before it visibly clicks. “Oh!” He buffs the back of his hand against Doom’s thigh. “I told you I’m nearly always right. Also,” he parrots back with a mischievous grin, “the fact we’ve kissed and held hands and you let me dote on you—“
“Excessively.”
“Excessively,” Maxir agrees. “I broke all constraints when I bought you last meal that one time.”
Doom pushes Maxir away from him by way of the rolling chair he’s sitting in while Maxir recalls in detail and with a lot of hand gestures how Doom had gracefully accepted being cared for.
“Or when you let me clean all the petri dishes by myself,” Maxir says excitedly, seat slowly spinning in a circle. “You were snoring so adorably on the lab bench.”
“I regret meeting you.”
“Mimir shoo for half the night cycle!” The chair slowly rotates back towards Doom. Maxir’s eyes soften. “I, for one, am very glad we met when we did.”

song 7! jelly pop (boys planet) + percy jackson (the lyrics are lowkey so embarrassing i can’t lie,,, fire song though please hear me out) (2023 spotify wrapped event)
baby, i’m your jelly, like sugar, it melts into your heart, wow
Tumblr media
As you peppered kisses all over his face, Percy couldn’t help but chuckle.
“What’s got you in such a good mood?”
You hummed happily as you pressed another kiss to his cheek, “Nothing. Just love you.”
Percy blushed, and accepted the rest of your kisses as his hands gripped your waist. The both of you were snuggled against each other on the floor of the Poseidon cabin, leaning on the side of his bed. You weren’t actually in the bed, just in case someone were to barge in and makes a big deal out what looked like a compromising position.
You liked being like this: close to him. You could smell the salt and something grainy as you pressed your nose to his neck. Percy Jackson smelled like the sea.
Percy grinned down at you and brought his hands up to your cheeks. He lifted your face out of the crook of his neck and looked into your eyes, feeling something tickle his heart. He laughed at your squished face and decided it was his turn to kiss it, pressing quick ones to both your cheeks before kissing your lips.
You gave out another happy hum as your hands shifted from his shoulders to clasp together at the back of his neck.
Despite the ocean scent that surrounded him constantly, Percy always tasted sweet. You weren't sure yet if it was an amalgamation of all the blue cupcakes, blue cherry cola, and strawberries, or just because he was, in fact, the sweetest guy ever.
Even after you'd pulled away, you couldn't help but lean in for more quick kisses to his lips. The taste was addictive, and you felt it seeping into your body, as if he was pouring melted candy all over your heart.
Percy accepted them happily, and looked a little disappointed when you'd finally had enough and sat back to stare at him for a second.
He blinked at you. "What?"
"Have you eaten any desserts today?"
"No?"
"No fruit or sugary drinks?"
"No," Percy said, looking increasingly confused.
"Then why do you taste so sweet?"
He stared at your face for a second, taking in how dead serious it was, before he started laughing. "What?"
"Don't try and dodge the question here, Perseus," you scolded, pointing your finger at him accusingly. He only laughed harder.
"Sorry, babe," Percy said between giggles, "Just caught me off guard there."
You threw your hands up in exasperation as your boyfriend tried to calm down. "Seriously, though. You always taste like– like.... jelly."
His eyes still twinkled with mirth but he looked at you as if entertaining your idea seriously. "Like what kind of jelly?"
"What do you mean 'what kind of jelly?'"
"Is it blue?"
"Well, how would I know? It's your mouth? I don't see any blue."
Percy's hands drifted onto your waist again. "How about I give you another kiss so you can figure it out, then?"
You rolled your eyes, but you couldn't hide the smile that fought its way onto your lips. "Calm down there, soldier."
He pressed a kiss to your cheek, then slowly made his way down to your jawline and across to the corner of your mouth. You felt your stomach flutter and your resolved crumble as you whined, "Percy, I'm serious here. I want to know."
"Okay, okay," he said, eyes still locked on your lips, "we'll figure it out tomorrow, alright? I promise. It'll be our next big mystery."
"You mean after the one where you disappeared off the face of the Earth for six months?"
"I didn't disappear off the face of the Earth," he huffed, "I was in New Rome."
"Yeah, yeah, I know." You grinned. "Okay, the next big mystery it is."
Percy grinned and kissed you again. Oh well, your questions could wait. Percy Jackson was your jelly tasting weirdo, and he wasn't going anywhere.

Ch 23: First Date, Take Two
Tumblr media
~ Master List ~ Previous Chapter ~ WC: 2.7k
Metallica - Fade to black lyrics (youtube.com)
.
“Heyyyy, there he is!” Luciana’s bright voice carried across the breeze, and she bounded to meet Hunter as he approached, trudging through the sand beside the crashing waves. She greeted him with an enthusiastic hug before bringing him back to her group of friends, sprawled across the beach on a litany of thick blankets and towels with snacks and drinks scattered atop. It was a decidedly youthful crowd, making Hunter feel immediately out of place. He shifted on his feet, rubbing the back of his neck and gazing from face to face as they were introduced.
“Okay, so this is Dwigt,” she began, pointing to a moon-faced kid to his left, “That’s Scarn… Pan…” More individuals gave idle waves or nods as Hunter returned them awkwardly. “And over here is Wuphf, and this is Narddog. He’s the one who made me so scrappy,” she giggled, swatting the arm of a bulky Twi’lek sitting near where she stood. “This is Hunter, y’all. He’s gonna hang with us sometimes. Don’t be weird.”
“Yes mom,” the one identified as Scarn teased, and Luciana moved to kick some sand at him.
“Don’t mind them,” she grinned, turning back to Hunter, who remained standing beside her above the group. “Want to walk a bit?”
A quick, sharp pang dug into his side before he forced it away from consciousness. “Walk sounds good,” he said, falling into step as they headed toward the cliffs.
“You alright?” Luciana asked, and he noticed that for once she wasn’t touching him immediately.
“Yeah,” Hunter said, eternally tossed back and forth in his mind like the waves that crashed beside them on the shore. “I just…eh. This feels… I don’t know.”
“It’s alright if you’re not into it,” she said gently, the earnestness in her face matching her tone. “I know we’re different people. I imagine it might be daunting, or feel wrong, or you think you’re crazy,” she laughed. “I won’t be hurt if you need to dip at any point. I’d just love to enjoy the time with you. Whatever that looks like.”
So simple. So straightforward. Nothing to figure out, no need to labor over discerning every nuance. He took a deep breath, releasing it along with as much of the pent-up stress as he could.
“Alright,” he said, lifting his eyes to the horizon. They continued their stroll, her beach wrap fluttering in the breeze over the swimsuit it covered.
“I’m sorry for what happened with Lyra,” she ventured, sincerity in her honeyed voice. “That’s never fun.”
“Yeah.”
“I can’t believe you just never heard from her again. She ditches you on a random planet and leaves her entire life here? Maybe something happened to her…”
“Who knows,” he said, feeling a spiteful snake coiling inside of him that almost hoped something did.
“Well, if it makes you feel any better, something always felt a little off with her. I thought it was just cause she was kinda new around here – she arrived on the island shortly before I did – but it never quite went away. Anyway, sorry to bring it up. I’ve been wrecked a time or two… and not in the good way,” she winked, laughing at her own joke before shaking her head. “So… moving on… How’s the shop?”
They chatted for a while about their jobs, life on the island, things they’d tried or had yet to explore. The sun had disappeared below the horizon as they began to head back toward the blankets on the beach, which had since been deserted by her friends, leaving only her towel and bag. She shook the sand off the towel, stuffing it into her bag, then pulled on a long, cozy wrap as the breeze grew chillier.
“Hungry?” she asked, gazing up at Hunter with green eyes that had a softening effect on his harsh exterior.
“Not really,” he admitted, feeling as though it were the wrong answer somehow. It was a constant back and forth… being lost in conversation that was genuinely enjoyable and then feeling wildly out of sorts and almost as though he were in some kind of strange dream.
“Alright,” she nodded with simple acceptance, lifting her bag to her shoulder. “I’ve got to work the next few days, but maybe we could meet up on Taungsday? Late dinner?”
“Sounds good.”
She reached out to squeeze his hand, offering an endearing smile before turning to venture up the stairs away from the beach, leaving him to ponder his choices beneath a blanket of twinkling stars.
* * *
Hunter washed out the pan, absently swirling the water around it again and again as Omega rattled the drawers behind him, putting away the silverware. They’d finished another cozy dinner in the cabin, Wrecker having gone home early due to a “food coma”, and they were quietly cleaning up side by side.
“So this next internship is on Plata?” he asked, regarding her over his shoulder.
“Yup,” she nodded. “I’m kind of excited, to be honest. Not for the reason you think,” she added, swatting him with a dish towel as she could almost see his thoughts about the notorious party-loving island. “It’s just a good group of people going, and it’ll be a nice break from the drama.”
“Drama, eh?”
“Yeah, everyone’s all up in arms over who likes who, and the whole thing has turned into taking sides over something that’s stupid in the first place.”
“Sounds like the war,” Hunter replied dryly. Omega exhaled, looking at him with a mixture of sympathy and humor.
“You seem different these days,” she remarked. “I mean, I know it’s been a lot, but… the bartender?”
“Something to say about it?” he invited, rubbing a plate with the soapy sponge.
“Not really. If you’re happy, I’m happy. Is she nice? Like, for real?”
“From what I can tell. She’s pretty straightforward. Says what she thinks. Keeps it simple. It’s not really anything, just… having fun.” He cringed at the last words as though they pained him to say, prompting Omega to giggle.
“Maker forbid,” she jabbed with a knowing grin.
“I know, I know.” Everyone and their general had been giving him a hard time for beating himself up so much over all that had happened. Tech’s observation at the last family dinner had been particularly piercing, as he wondered aloud if Hunter were releasing all of the frustration, powerlessness, and regret of his entire life into this particular situation. There had been an uncomfortable silence after that, until Wrecker moved the conversation along by antagonizing Crosshair and everyone returned to eating.
“I get it, though,” Omega continued, pausing her movement to look at him softly. “And if you want my two cents… maybe the universe is offering you a chance to feel more human than you ever have before.”
“I keep hearing about how all these experiences are so ‘human’, and I think I’d prefer to be a clanker if this is what it’s like.”
Omega remained silent, a small smile on her face as she patted his arm. They finished up their cleaning and turned to head to bed, pausing in the hallway to bid one another goodnight. It was only then that she spoke up again.
“Hunter, what do you want?” she asked quietly, looking into his conflicted face. He sighed, eyes roving the floor as his hand slowly rubbed the back of his neck.
“I don’t know.”
“Well maybe all this stuff is happening to help you figure it out.”
He watched her disappear into her room and remained there for a few minutes before turning toward his own.
* * *
“Hi handsome!” Luciana exclaimed, inviting him in with a flourish. She was in a black lacy bra and underwear, with a floor-length satin robe hanging loosely over it all. Hunter kept his eyes fixed very firmly on her face. “Lookin good, by the way,” she noted, checking out his outfit, which was composed of plain khaki pants and a white shirt. “I’m almost ready; make yourself at home for a few?”
He stepped into her apartment, taking it all in. The place was relatively dark, lit by string lights and small lamps with red or purple bulbs. There was artwork splashed across virtually every wall, except the far one which was made of plain brick, and the framed images ranged from eclectic portraits of animals to somewhat sensual abstract art. Plants sprouted and hung from every nook and cranny, and a few candles flickered as they filled the room with a soft, spicy scent. Scratching the back of one hand with the other, Hunter ventured from corner to corner, idly inspecting all that there was to see.
“Answer with your first thought!” she called from her bedroom. “Green or red?”
“Green,” he said after a pause where his mind ran through the colors and all that they were connected with, naturally overthinking the question in just a few seconds.
“You got it!”
She appeared a few minutes later in a pastel green dress, dainty and feminine, the top of which was held up by a single string that looped around her neck alongside the thin gold necklaces and earrings she’d added. A pair of strappy heels wove their way up her ankles, tied in the back, and her curly red hair had been pulled back loosely at the nape of her neck. His mouth felt a little dry as he noticed her lips, distinctly plump and soft with the light shine from the lipstick she’d chosen.
“Whaddya think?” she asked coquettishly, brushing the front of her dress and doing a little spin for him.
“I… uh… It’s nice,” he fumbled, genuinely clueless of how to respond. “Aren’t you gonna be cold?”
“Oh my gosh,” she laughed, taking a few steps forward to playfully smack him on the chest. “You’re ridiculous.” She turned to a closet near the front door, pulling out a beige, knee-length coat. “Just for you, babe,” she smiled, shuffling into it and extending a hand to invite him to follow.
“So, Luciana,” he began, interrupted by her grabbing his hand and pulling him a step closer.
“Luci,” she said firmly, giving him a mockingly stern expression. “And what? Would you rather stay in?” She arched a shapely eyebrow, eyes sparkling with both mirth and insinuation.
“No,” he said with an exhale, a small smile of his own finally appearing. “I’m starving.”
“Alright. Then I hope you’re ready for the best pasta of your life!”

They wove their way through the streets of Xylo for only a few minutes, as Luci’s apartment was near the Town Square where most of the restaurants were. As they rounded a corner, their destination came into view. Tables and chairs spilled out onto the cobblestoned sidewalk in front of a well-lit building with thick vines filling the trellis above the entrance. It seemed quite busy, despite it being a slightly late hour for dinner, but the host smiled broadly when he saw Luci approach.
“Miss Salentino! Welcome, welcome. Always a pleasure. Right this way,” he fawned, grabbing a couple of menus and leading them through the bustling restaurant floor. Hunter didn’t miss the eyes that flitted up and down her long legs as she gracefully followed the host out to a back patio, which was much quieter due to only a few tables being scattered across it. Their menus were placed on the farthest table, tucked into a corner with a small view of the city below, with buildings all around.
“Your server will be along shortly,” the host said with a bow, giving her one last warm grin before disappearing, and before Hunter could even open his menu, another man was at her elbow, carefully placing two sparkling glasses on the table and settling a bottle of champagne in a metal tube to keep it cold.
“Hello beautiful,” he said, then turned to give Hunter a quick scan from head to toe, offering a polite smile as he did. “And welcome, sir. Have you dined with us before?”
“No,” Hunter said, sitting up a little straighter.
“I brought him here to change his life,” Luci said playfully, pouring the champagne until the glasses were filled to the brims. “And then we might have some food,” she laughed.
“Naturally,” the server snickered, shaking his head fondly. Hunter stared between the two of them. “Well, I’ll give you two some time to settle in, and perhaps some small plates before the ‘life-changing’ entrees?”
“Sounds good! Thank you, love!” Luci chirped, and the menus were whisked away without either of them having the chance to look.
“Quite friendly,” Hunter muttered, picking up his own champagne glass and giving it a sniff out of habit.
“The owner is an old friend from my pod-racing crew on Tattooine, and I come so frequently that I’ve gotten to know most of the staff as well,” she explained flippantly, lifting her glass to him in cheers before taking a sip.
“Pod-racing crew?”
“Mmm,” she said, nodding through one more gulp before setting her glass down and leaning back in her chair. “I’ve dabbled in a thing or two during my lifetime.”
“You were a pod racer?” he repeated, trying to wrap his head around the fact.
“I started on the crew, then thought I’d try it myself. It didn’t last long,” she giggled. “Got a little boring.”
“Boring?” Hunter said in disbelief, then cringed inwardly at how dumb he sounded, even to himself.
“Well, I mean, it’s risky, but… I don’t know. It was time to move on. But it was fun while it lasted! Met some amazing people and got to learn so much about the different types of speeders and how they work. I wanted to be a full-time mechanic but it’s so dirty and complex… Too much for me!” She smiled and shrugged, gazing out at the view.
The server appeared with three small plates, each displaying a few bites of various appetizers. The quiet hubbub of the others on the patio, combined with the mouthwatering scents of the crispy rolls and fruit kebabs before them, was increasingly putting Hunter at ease, and Luci was radiating contentment. He took a deep breath and felt his shoulders relax away from his ears a bit as he gazed at the soft glow from the small candle on their table.
“So how about you?” she continued, daintily picking at one of the spring rolls. “What’s your story?”
“Heh,” Hunter said, trying to remember what he’d shared with… the other one… to keep it all consistent. “Kinda like yours, I guess, but not as exciting.” He navigated a purposefully vague story about being a butcher like his father before him, being trained in the military of his remote home planet, being sucked into the war a bit, then operating as a mercenary with his brothers before returning to a quiet life. Luci asked a thing or two about details, but he evaded them with what he thought was some pretty good acting, pretending that the memories were too painful or unpleasant to ruin the evening with.
Entrees came and went, dessert was regretfully refused due to having eaten too much already, and the empty champagne bottle was taken away along with the remaining dishes. Luci sat back in her seat, patting her stomach.
“Glad I wore a loose dress,” she snickered. “Want to walk this off and call it a night?”
As they began a slow stroll through the winding streets, Hunter was struck by just how normal it all felt. Conversation continued, everything from favorite things to flirty banter, and he offered her an arm as they made their way up some cobblestone stairs. When they finally arrived at her apartment, she stopped and turned toward him, wrapping her arms around herself and heaving a big, contented sigh.
“This was really nice, Hunter,” she said earnestly, reaching up to free her hair from its ponytail. “Thank you so much.”
“Yeah,” he agreed, stuffing his hands in his pockets. “I… agree.”
“I think I’m feeling a little more adventurous for the next date,” she continued, a mischievous gleam in her eye. “If there is a next one…” she drifted off, lifting her eyebrows slightly in inquisitive coyness.
“Depends on what you have in mind,” he returned, feeling simultaneously proud and weird about his own playfulness.
“I’ll surprise you,” Luci said with a nod, reaching out to touch the outside of his arm as she gazed into his face. “We’ll see if you can keep up.”

Tumblr media
creatures of grimm were foul things. horrid creatures controlled by their equally horrid master that strived only for destruction and since they didn't have a soul, never felt a thing for the damage they caused. the only defense against them was really just people like you, huntsmen and huntress.
creatures of grimm couldn't use aura, they were both mindless and souless so you never expected them to harbour such a power - this one was clearly an exception. it seemed and looked different to the usual that you'd face and it made you wary but that was all the more reason to not let it get away.
you couldn't explain what happened to anyone, even if you tried your absolute hardest. one minute you were fighting the weird looking creature in remnant the next, you were in a place that onlooked to a sea of stars - crescent rose still in hand. you had absolute zero clue where you were but if this were some trap set by salem, you were determined not to be caught out so you hid.
hiding wasn't going to last you forever but you hoped it would atleast buy you time to figure out your surroundings and your situation. fortunately for you, the express crew never really had any suspicious for the first day. the express was still cruising through space and was in search of a planet so many did spend most of their time in their rooms and only started suspecting something when pom pom complained about another ghost problem.
in regular fashion, pom pom sought out himeko when they yet again feared the express had a ghost. pom pom explained in a rather rushed panic to himeko about how they had heard footfall and even some of the food had disappeared. normally himeko would assure the conductor the express didn't have ghosts but it seemed all too strange out in space.
the second tiime pom pom complained about a ghost was mid way through the second day of your unknown arrival. it was less of a complaint and more of a frightened panic however. pom pom had spotted you on the far side of the express and immediately rushed to find someone, anyone to rid the express of the ghost.
fortunately for pom pom, unfortunately for you, they had managed to stir the entire express crew and now himeko and welt both insited that maybe there was something aboard the express - although they both doubted it was any form of ghost. you knew you probably wouldn't be able to hide forever but now that they were looking for you, you realised you probably should have some sort of explanation.
to say the express crew were surprised to find an entire human hiding on the express would be an understatement. immediately after spotting you they all went on guard and demanded an explanation as to why you were hiding on the express, especially because of their recent endeavours with the stellaron hunters leading them to believe you were one of them.
you felt hesitant to give out the full information for the extent of your predicament but you wanted to clear the idea they had of you being a stellaron hunter - you had no clue who they were but if these people had such a big reaction, it mustn't be good. the extent to what you told them was how you didn't know how you got here or how to get back home.
the express and it's trailblazers were known for helping out many people and while your short explanation garnered some sympathy, they were still understandably wary. welt asked you why you didn't make your presence known on day one, if you weren't a threat, and you only agrued back that you were scared. but for the time being you would have to stay on the express, they weren't that cruel to throw you out into space.
the atmosphere on the express notably changed after your discovery, for valid reasons. they had truly no idea who you were, especially because you refused to let up anything past your name and the brief explanation of how you got here, and now you had to spend time with them before they docked somewhere. you also rarely interacted with them and only did so when they initiated conversation with you.
dan heng himself was quite the reserved member of the express. that's not to say he didn't interact with his friends often but he normally would keep to himself. he was also quite observant but nobody needed to be to see that you were struggling with your situation. he reasoned with himself and left you to it and would only offer help of you approached him.
but he realised how unlikely that would be and eventually he really couldn't stand seeing how much you struggled. he could easily sympathise woth your situation to some degree and would offer to listen but you always pushed him away - much like the other trailblazers. you knew he meant well but you simply couldn't afford to build some sort of connection with someone, especially in a world that eas definitely not your own.
but what was from your world were the creatures of grimm. the creatures that now stood aboard the astral express under the orders of their master, salem. you could take a very accurate guess and assume that the express crew would have no clue on how to defeat them, they could put up a fight but creatures of grimm were different.
so you would waste absolutely no time and no hesitation when throwing yourself right into the fight and putting yourself between the creatures of grimm and the express. you couldn't let it happen again, you couldn't let the creatures destroy the express crew. while you could've been fancy and used your petal burst or even your scythe, but you wanted it quick and efficient - silver eyes would be that way.
the entire crew were left shocked, and rather impressed, at your skill in battle and dan heng could only stare in pure admiration for your skill but you were reeling. the guilt hit you all at once, the creatures had probably found their way here because of you. now you had caused even more trouble for the people in this world and who knows if more creatures of grimm would work their way over. you needed to leave. to get far away. to never let these people get hurt-
you were pulled out of your spiral by a hand. a hand that was placed carefully and with the utmost comfort on your shoulder. your head slowly turned to find the owner, a certain raven head that had done nothing but try and help you smiled gently at you. you hadn't noticed before but somewhere in your spiral your legs gave way, you only noticed as dan heng crouched down to your level as he gave you reassurance.
the other express members could only agree with what he was telling you and himeko gladly told you that you didn't need to leave but it was all drowned out. you could barely makd out what they were saying and could only focus on the comforting sight of dan heng. for once you could let your guard down, let yourself become more vulnerable - and this was when you practically tackled him into a hug.

Flames {Rexsoka}
Prompt: They’ll hear us/you
@rexsoka-monthly
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mandalore was in flames.
The city burned at the same time, so did Rex's heart.
All his Mandalorian roots seemed to scream as he watched the destruction, an orange hue cast over his shielded face and making eerie shadows dance across his visor and armor, like the ghosts of the past katarn armor-wearers giving their final breath.
He knew somewhere deep inside that this place would fall to ruin, something about the thick smoke that rose into the dark blue night and disappeared into the stars.
Maul may have been captured, but he knew that wasn't the end.
He breathed a small Mandalorian blessing out over the edge of the balcony he stood on and turned around, blinking back the angry tears that rose into his eyes, but not with much effort when he felt his entire being soften.
She was waiting there. He felt that tingle inside his chest the moment he turned around.
"I'm sorry, Rex." Ahsoka said softly, her face not in view yet for the shadows, but he made out her frame, lithe and disciplined and beautiful... her colors contrasting with the horrors of fire and smoke and battle.
"You completed the mission. That's all that matters." he replied, voice filtered of his sadness through his helmet, but she sensed it.
"We should get back to the others, we're leaving soon." she said, eyes flickering around his face and going down until they stayed on the ground.
He only nodded, following behind his commander with a slow and steady stride.
Whatever citizen she claimed to be now, whatever nomad, she would always be his commander, always be the one who earned his respect more and more every day and every time he saw her.
The Tribunal was filled with people, soldiers, officers, and droids alike, ready to leave the planet as Maul was escorted by a few Mandalorians inside a special Jedi holding chamber.
Rex felt... odd about it, although he knew Ahsoka had handled the Sith apprentice herself, and that she was more than capable, something about still having the monster near her bothered him.
I should've been there.
It was all he kept thinking, again and again he felt like he should have been there.
Ahsoka was led off by a few higher-ups in need of her assistance, and Rex was left alone, pondering.
Jesse met to speak with him but he knew he wasn't being himself, something about all of this was bothering him, but he knew the main reason was not the fact that his heritage planet was in shambles. No. It was something else, and he felt like perhaps he knew what it was but still the confusion swirling in his head was overwhelming.
Before he even registered what he was doing or where he even was he met her in the briefing room, an empty hologram table before her as she stood there staring at it, looking lost in a past time and memory.
Ahsoka felt him before he'd even been close enough for the doors to open for him, sensing his soft hum in the Force that told her he was alive, but sometimes it told her things she didn't want to know, let her feel his pain and his confusion and his sadness.
She wanted to take it away. She wanted him to have a normal life, a life without war and heartache and loss. Wanted him to have a choice. Whatever he truly wanted in this life, in this vast galaxy that had become so grim.
"A—are you okay?" Rex asked quietly, watching her from behind.
"I will be." she turned around, and found that his eyes were distant, lost. "And you?"
His chest tightened, and it was getting hard to breathe, but he just needed to get it out and try to fix himself, try to let himself focus again and just do his duty without feeling like only half his mind was there. "I can't answer that."
"What do you mean?"
The way instant concern flooded her big, starry blue eyes made him feel both worse and better. But she took a step forward, almost like she was worried he had been hurt and decided not to tell her.
"I just... Some things happened today, and with that and everything else, I don't feel right."
"What things? Mandalore?" Truthfully, she just wanted to run to him, throw her arms around his neck and tell him it was going to be alright, that it would get better from here.
Tell him what she had been battling with besides the Sith and the Death Watch, and that thing was him. Him, invading her heart and her letting him.
At war with something she welcomed.
"That's... part of it. But you—when you fought Maul, I should've been there, and if something had happened—something had gone wrong, I—''
Ahsoka shook her head slowly. "Rex—"
"No, please... I, I need to say it. When you left, everything changed, all this," he gestured around the room like he was gesturing to the entire galaxy, his grip on his helmet under his arm getting tighter and then he squeezed his free hand into a tight fist. "it changed, it hasn't felt the same since. And then you came back, General Skywalker told me you were and—and I didn't know how to take it, but I wanted you to, but as soon as I saw you something else changed, and now I... I can't help but think about what you'll do when all this is over, when you leave."
Ahsoka wore a sad expression, but inside she was burning up, she knew he was strong, knew he tried to put his duties first and ignore his personal feelings and emotions but she also knew he was starving, knew he was pining and so was she, but seeing him like this...so unsure of himself and almost like he was guilty, it broke her heart even as she searched for the right words and the right actions.
A thousand things came to mind that she wanted to say or do, but let him stand there in silence, searching for what he needed to say, what else he needed to get out.
"I just..." Rex seemed like he was choking. "I won't lose you again. I can't."
That broke her stillness, and she walked straight to him, searching his face and finding all the pain. "Rex..." she said his name like it was the most precious thing, something she cherished with all her heart, and his eyes lifted to meet hers even as they looked down to her shorter form, staring deep into her beautiful face and trying to remember each and every detail. Every line, every pore. He didn't want to go without it. Without her.
Ahsoka lifted her hands up and gently placed them on the sides of his chest plate, brushing her fingers down and stroking the tiny pock marks of battle and tracing the lines war had left. "You know I never wanted to leave you."
He swallowed hard. "I know."
"I am sorry. Leaving... it was one of the hardest things ive ever done, mostly for one reason..."
His eyes were questioning, but he asked anyways, voice so quiet it sounded raw. "What?"
Ahsoka breathed in through her nose deeply, eyes flickering down then up again. "This one."
Then she snatched the sides of his face and slammed her mouth up against his, making him drop his helmet in surprise, stumbling only a little backwards and his hand lifted up, freezing near her head.
He kissed back eagerly, a million sparks seeming like they reignited in his dying fire of a soldiers heart. He put his hand on her cheek, his other on her back like he was trying to keep her there, like she was his and the only thing that mattered.
She finally pulled back, but stayed so close he could feel her warm breath stirring against his mouth. "I thought of you every day." she murmured.
He ran his thumb across the white streak on her jaw, not having anything left to say but finally feeling that yearning being met, that wildfire finally being fueled not with sadness and longing but with passion and love that he knew was most likely forbidden to both him and her.
He wasn't exactly sure what he was doing, but the instincts inside of him took over as he cupped her face again, kissing her with every bit of the loneliness he'd felt since he last saw her. With every word he had wanted to say to her since they had last spoke. Her small frame was pushed back from his careless affection, until she was clasping her hand against the rim of the table and finally took his shoulders and turned him around, pushing him down onto it where his armor clanked hard against the surface, but she just kept pursuing with her lips even as he let out a breathy laugh.
"They'll hear you, cyar'ika." he whispered into her mouth.
"So what?" she purred back, gripping his shoulders with a wicked little grin that made his entire body heat with that fire, knowing completely and entirely that she was that one thing he wanted most in the galaxy.

Lipstick marks
Tumblr media
I did get one request done these days! As I said, I will try to get to the others at one point, but if I don’t get to your request, I am sorry! Sometimes, it’s hard to find a muse for certain scenarios...
The request for this one:  “Hii ♥️ Another cute blurb about our favorite redhead Jedi would be the cute Mantis crew tease about him having reader's smudged red lipstick on his face and neck! Would love to read that, thank you in advance :) “
_____
You were supposed to be his secret. Not because Cal was ashamed of your relationship, but because he wanted to keep you safe. Not even the Mantis crew knew where he headed whenever they stopped on Koboh. They probably thought he was doing some patrol run or looking for a new sort of trouble again. Instead, he went to find you on your little farm on the very outskirts of the ever-growing little town.
Just like this time.
The moment the ship had landed, Cal was out and heading to your place rather than the Saloon. His last visit had simply been too long ago and he yearned to hold you in his arms again. To hear you whisper his name full of love and to fall asleep by your side.
“Cal?”, Bode called after him, but all the redhead did was wave, as he sprinted off.
He found you outside, bandaging the injured paw of a little Bogling and for a moment the Jedi slowed down to take in the scene. You were as gentle with the creatures in your little clinic at the farm as you were with everyone else. It was one of the many reasons why he fell in love with you.
“There, soon you’ll be running around again.”
Now he could hear your voice, gently speaking to the ball of fluff in your lap and his heart soared. It really had been too long.
The Bogling noticed him first and made a squeaky noise, trying to get away. You let him go and looked up, seeing Cal approaching with a smile.
“Cal!”, you exclaimed, running toward him and practically jumping into his arms. He welcomed you with a laugh, holding you close and just taking in the moment.
“I missed you.”, you said after a few seconds.
“I missed you more.” The standard reply every time, but you smiled regardless.
“Have you been well?”, he asked, putting you back down, but still keeping you close.
“Better than you, I assume. You look tired.”
He absolutely was, but tried to hide it behind a sheepish grin. “The last missions got a bit intense, yeah.”
You invited him inside to take a shower while you prepped a meal, which you could enjoy together. For Cal, this was true bliss. A home, he never expected to have again after the fall of the Order. Yet he couldn’t bring himself to stay either. The fight still called to him and you respected his choice.
Still, after being apart for a couple of months, you hoped that he would stay a little longer this time. Unfortunately, he could not and your last day together dawned sooner than you liked.
“Stay.”, you tried to coax him, your naked body on top of his in your bed, as you pressed soft kisses to his cheek and neck.
In moments like these, he wished he could stay forever. But the danger of the Empire showing up and taking everything from him again was just too real to ignore.
“I’ll come back soon.”, he promised, a hand gently brushing through your hair.
“You said that last time as well.”, you pouted.
“I promise, Y/N.”
Slowly you sat up, watching from the bed as he got up to get dressed. You joined him in the end, closing the vest for him and pressing another kiss to his cheek. “Be careful and come back to me.”
“I always will.”, he vowed and gave you one last kiss before returning to the Mantis where Bode and Merrin were already waiting for him, busy talking to Greez.
“Ah, there he is. We thought you got lost somewhere.”, Bode greeted him.
“Not on this planet.”, the Jedi retorted smugly, but the smile disappeared when his comrades’ faces changed. “What?”, he asked.
Bode was grinning now, while Merrin held back a chuckle, shaking her head.
“Nice new look, Cal. I gotta say, the little pink on your cheeks and neck really brings out your eyes.”, Greez teased with a laugh.
Confused, the Jedi’s hand went to rub at his cheek, before looking at his fingers. Remnants of your lipstick… Dammit.
“What’s her name?”, Merrin asked directly.
“I don’t know what you mean.” He knew he couldn’t get out of it now, but he still tried, as he rubbed the proof of your night together off his skin, even though he would have preferred not to.
“The pretty vet on the outskirts of town. We saw you together, dumbass.”, the nightsister clarified.
“You knew?”
“I also like to explore. And I have two working eyes.”
Of course. While Bode tended to happily spend his time in the Mantis or in Pyloon’s Saloon, Merrin was bound to grow curious about the area. And your farm wasn’t exactly hidden.
“We are happy for you, kid. But next time, bring her over for proper introductions.”, Greez spoke, making Cal nervously rub his neck to fight the blush creeping over his face.
“Will do, Greez.”, he promised. Surely presenting you to his closest allies would be alright. They might tease and joke, but they would welcome you with open arms, he was sure.
“While I’m gone, watch out for her for me, ok?”
The Latero nodded. “Of course, Cal. But maybe you should consider settling down now… You could have a normal life, kid. A home. A family.”
“He’s right. This could be your chance to find peace.”, Bode chimed in.
Instantly Cal remembered your body on his and your plea for him to stay. But something inside of him wasn’t quite ready yet. If there was still a chance to destroy the Empire, he needed to try.
“I’ll think about it.”, he said instead, heading toward the Mantis. “Now come on, the quicker we get this mission done, the quicker we can come back.”

                 “Keeping up hopes”
The light from the warp pad faded, allowing you to feel a cool, exotic, breeze on your form. With a firm hand you pressed the green gem tightly in your palm, making sure it was still there before taking a step off the warp pad. No possibilities or futures were swarming your mind, it was all clear. The shock from it all must have stunned your ability to see.
With that you hurried away from the pad. A safe place to hide was a must, there you could wait until Peridot was ready to reform, and while she was coming back you could think of a plan. It seemed to be clear that the gems from earlier didn’t want you or Peridot around here. While in such deep thought, a cave wall came across your path and on that wall seemed to be an opening. An opening big enough to walk in it, which you did. There your gem began to glow, illuminating a beautiful light against the wet cave walls. With a few rocks on the floor of the cave, you set Peridot’s gem on the most flat one, sitting down next to said rock. It was so quiet, yet no visions were coming to mind.
Your hands travelled up to your face, moving some of the hair out of the way of your eye. Now, more clearly you could see where you were exactly. From the opening of the cave you could see big green leaves, strong tree trunks and colourful flowers here and there, all different shapes and sizes. Some form of a body of water must have been nearby, since you could hear water slosh somewhere in the distance. From the roof of the cave fell down drops of water, which you could only see against the light that came from outside. They fell down, joining the small puddles on the cave floor. What an odd planet.
A soft gasp left your mouth when the silent dripping sounds you had gotten used to suddenly got a little louder, and soon took over all sounds near by. The chirping sounds from earlier and the water in the distance disappeared, covered by the millions of water drops. Your gaze stayed on the cave opening, hand over your mouth. All the leaves were moving, bouncing at the force of the water droplets. They fell from the sky at a rapid phase, the dark clouds hiding some of the light from earlier behind them. But somehow, it was nice.
While admiring the sight, a green glow emitted from right beside you. The green gem had risen up, and the bright light began to take form. This startled you, the hand from your mouth going up to your eye again, brushing the hair over your eye. Just then, the gem had chosen its form and Peridot fell on her legs, only much smaller this time. She swung her arms for a moment, before realising that things were different. “Where are my limb enhancers?!” Came from the green gem, making you bite back a smile at the sight. Professional. “I could not save them.” You replied, looking down for a moment. “I do not know where we are, but we need to move soon. We’re on their planet, which they know better than us.” You shook your head a little, standing up from the ground. Peridot listened, clearly embarrassed by her form, but she didn’t say anything more about it. Her gaze wandered to the opening of the cave, seeing that the sudden rain had almost gone out, just as suddenly as it had started. “We should go.” You suddenly say, as a vision hits you. There might be something here that can help you, but it all depends on Peridot. “Go where? I have no flask robonoids and no way to contact Homeworld.” Peridot whines, desperate. This Peridot really should start trusting you more. “Come. We’ll see.” A hum leaves your lips as you slip out of the cave, feeling the wet ground under you as you walk. By following the vision, it leads the two of you forward. No words are exchanged, not until something appears from behind the leaves and trees. It’s covered in vines and moss, someone walking by might not even see it. It’s an old gem ship, crashed here and left to rot. “There.” You point at it, jumping from the little cliff that the two of you had ended up on, gracefully floating down in front of the ship. Peridot growls silently, murmuring something as she drops her legs down the cliff fist, then allowing herself to drop down, sliding the last half. “We can’t fly this.” She groans, dusting herself off. “No, but we can use parts of it to perhaps build new flask robonoids. If the vision I saw is the most likely one, there should be more old abandoned gem tech like this on this planet.” You reply, going up to the door of the ship. As you approach, the lights near the door barely light up, only flickering under the vines. “Who is we? You’re not assuming I could build more from junk like this?” Peridot complains as she follows along. “I saw a future of you doing so.” You reply, not mentioning the other ones that had flashed by, where it all failed. Without hearing a word from her, you open the door to the ship, hopping in with the green gem following right behind you.
Even the inside had been taken over by nature, vines and different kinds of moss growing in the wreck. “Peridots like me weren’t made for this kind of stuff. Look at me!” She shrugs, seemingly stressed over her new form. “We don’t have many options, I’m afraid.” A sigh comes from your side as you look through for pieces to use. Peridot’s eyes are on you, and with some thinking she nods, even if you can’t see it. She understood to trust you and joined in on looking for usable parts from the ship.
By moving from warp pad to warp pad the two of you continued to avoid meeting the crystal gems the best you could, while your future vision led you on to find more crashed ships to collect parts from. Peridot seemed to be getting better at piecing together the materials, the newer versions always looking better than the old ones. As time passed like this, the green gem grew more confident in her new found skill to use whatever she had near to build.
The sound of gears turning got your attention, watching the first usable robonoid take its first steps. You had to bite back a smile yet again, but the ground under you froze a little. “Good job.” You said. Peridot seemed like she had stars in her eyes at the sight, but they soon faded. “We’ll need many…many more of these to fix the galaxy warp.” She sighed, leaning against a tree with her eyes closed. “Are you giving up now? We have everything we need, we just need to be careful.” You said, voice stoic as ever which made you sound so sure of your words. So sure you’d be able to leave soon. But inside your mind, so many of the futures ended badly, no matter how far you got.
The green gem kept building more of the flask robonoids while you made sure to change your location based on the least likely place for the gems to show up in. From the time you had escaped from the with Peridot’s gem to now, you had only come across them a couple of times, of which only one had they seen the two of you, resulting in another getaway. But now, there was finally enough robonoids. Tonight you’d both either get caught or go back home.
The same cave this had all started in served as your last resting place. All the robonoids were hidden somewhere in the closeby area, in the case that the gems would show up. Peridot broke the silence. “Do you think they’ll be mad? The diamonds.” She asked. It felt like she had changed as a person while on this ‘venture’. Though, you could say the same about you most likely. Visions came to mind, flashing back and forth. The future was unclear. They’d blame Peridot for failing the mission, and even if you’d walk off here free the truth was that Peridot was most likely going to get the punishment. Yellow Diamond wasn’t one to take it easily if one of the Sapphires was put in danger like this, and there wasn’t much you could see yourself doing about the green gem’s faith. Upsetting. “We’ll be fine.” You said, with a forced smile.
The night set, but the butterflies in your body didn’t. This could be the end for the both of you, or the end for one of you or..anything could happen. Whatever it was, you were headed straight at it. With the flask robonoids at your feet, you all gathered on the now familiar warp pad and a bright light overtook your forms. It transferred you to the galaxy warp, a cool breeze hitting you in the face as you arrived. Peridot ushers the robonoids to work, all of them starting to slowly fix the warp. The green gem taps her foot against the ground, growling under her breath. You stand a couple steps behind her, mind filled with all the possibilities from before, new ones mixing into those. Suddenly, the robonoides step off and it feels like a millenia passes. The galaxy warp almost ‘blings’ and the cracks on it disappear. A squeal escapes the green gems, but it all soon fades as one of the warp pads illuminates a bright light and transports the gems you had met before on the same platform as the two of you. They don’t take a second to say anything, a clear plan in mind as they charge at you.
Your eye opens wide, now the most possible future locking in. You lunge forwards and while doing so, you take a hold of Peridot’s hand. Due to her form being smaller now, you’re able to swing her easily to the galaxy warp. With a quick duck you avoid getting hit by one of Pearl’s spears, and with a tight grip of Peridot’s hand you both activate the galaxy warp, making your perfect escape.

Note
Hey bugs bookanon here! I was wondering if you would be willing to do anymore Star Trek tickles, specifically the crew finding a tickle creature of some kind and wanting to keep it maybe? Or maybe a planet that focuses on tickling, likes it normal there and widely accepted as a form of bonding or something.I’ve seen that concept a few times and I think it’s so cute! If you’re not comfortable with it though it 100% okay! Thanks for taking the time read my ask and I hope you have a great day!
Can We Keep Him?
Summary: Jim saves an alien creature from a poacher's camp and decides to bring it back with him. Bones comes around...eventually.
I really wanted to do the second part of this prompt with the planet and show off some of Peebles's more feral cousins...I just might as a sequel if I find the inspiration. Feel free to enter it in the next round of prompts if anyone really wants to see it! Also thank you to @sapphicquill for helping me figure out a scientific name for Peebles!
TW: brief mentions of death/flatlining and injury in the beginning.
“Bones, would you just listen to me—“
“No! What the hell were you thinking? Risking your life for a bunch of pets?” Bones shouts from his toes. He wants to fucking throw something.
“They weren’t pets, they were crying in cages! They would’ve been sold off or worse. I couldn’t just leave them there.” Jim clutches his torso and hisses in pain, but his eyes still flare. He tries to stand off the medbay bed. Bones corners him in.
“And in the process, you almost died. How is that fair?” Bones seethes. “My best friend coded on my table. You flatlined under my care. Legally dead for one minute and thirty seven seconds over an intergalactic petting zoo, you fucking bastard.”
Medbay falls quiet. Jim opens his mouth to speak, but closes it again. Bones pinches the bridge of his nose and takes a sharp breath.
“I’m sorry. Bones, c’mere. I’m sorry. I didn’t know.” Jim reaches for him feebly. Bones inches closer and lets Jim pull him into a shaky hug. He rubs his back, carefully avoiding new bandages and old scars.
“I can’t—you’ve got a big heart, alright? I get it. But it can’t cost you your life. Not like this.” Bones rests his forehead against the crown of Jim’s head. Every inch of him feels raw, like a fresh burn.
“Are we good?” Jim murmurs. Bones heaves a sigh.
“I will be, long as you don’t die on me in the next five minutes. You’re staying overnight for observation.” Bones points at him threateningly. Jim smiles.
“Roger that.” Jim keeps his arms looped around Bones’s waist. Neither of them are ready to let go just yet.
A bright pink lump pops up out of the collar of Jim’s shirt, a tentacle slapping onto his shoulder, and Bones screams loud enough to wake the dead. He grabs the first thing he can reach—a bedpan, unfortunately—and brandishes it.
“Woah! Friendly! Bones, he’s friendly!” Jim holds out his hand to keep Bones at bay. The furry…thing disappears behind Jim’s shoulder. It fucking scuttles. There’s a creature in his office. He’s going to burn down the entire ship.
“You scared him.” Jim frowns.
“I scared him?!” Bones shrieks hysterically, still clutching the bedpan. Jim gestures for him to lower the bedpan. Bones does no such thing.
“It’s alright, lil guy. He won’t hurt you. Come say hi.” Jim looks over his shoulder at it and whistles.
A pink tendril smacks onto Jim’s face, then another onto his shirt, and the creature peeks over his shoulder. It’s a fuzzy, fluffy thing that’s the size of a small dog. It’s shaped like a strange starfish—one side is pink and soft, the other is bright orange and covered in an unsettling array of little nubs. It uses them to get around, it looks like, judging by the way it vacuum-clings onto Jim.
It blinks with one big eye, cartoonishly sparkly, and makes a warbly sound.
“Bones, this is Peebles. Peebles, Bones.” Jim gestures between the two of them. The creature—Peebles chirps and waves a tendril in greeting. Bones slowly waves back, dumbstruck.
“Can it understand you?”
“I have no idea,” Jim coos in a proud-parent voice, the same one Bones used to use when baby Joanna would babble nonsense at him. It disarms him.
“What…is it?” Bones puts down the bedpan and moves a bit closer. Jim offers his finger to Peebles and it wraps a tendril around it.
“I don’t know. But he’s sweet and he was so scared, Bones. I couldn’t leave him. I just couldn’t.” Jim tugs on the edge of Bones’s lab coat. Peebles makes a quiet chirping noise and folds himself into the crook of Jim’s neck.
“He likes you.”
“Yeah he’s a bit—“ Jim pulls Peebles off of him with a faint pop— “Clingy, but it’s cute. I don’t mind.”
“What if it’s just…suckering up to you to eat you?” Bones gestures vaguely. Peebles crawls back onto Jim’s shoulder and flops down, purring loudly. Jim raises his eyebrow.
“Don’t look at me like that! We don’t know what it is! You violated a whole chapter of regulations by bringing it on board.” Bones lowers his voice to a hiss.
“Bones, it’s purring.” Jim reaches up and tangles his fingers in the bright pink fur. Peebles scoots down and suctions to Jim’s chest, visibly vibrating.
“Don’t come crying to me when it burrows into your chest and…multiplies, or something.” Bones huffs and narrows his eyes at it.
“I’m begging you to stop watching those old movies. They were made centuries ago. This little guy isn’t a xenocron—“
“Xenomorph—“
“Whatever. He’s harmless and you’re paranoid.” Jim cradles the creature to his chest.
“I’m reporting this to Spock.” Bones sniffs indignantly.
“Narc,” Jim mutters. Bones presses his thumb slightly into one of his bruises and he yelps.
“I’m writing you up for malpractice.” Jim swats at him.
“You do that.” Bones pats his shoulder, then gently pushes him down against the bed to rest.
“Captain. Doctor.” Spock nods at them both. “I have found more information regarding the unidentified creature that you acquired.”
Peebles perks up shyly behind Jim’s shoulder, blinking at Spock.
“Hello.” He nods at it. Peebles chirps happily and scuttles a little further into view.
“It seems to closely resemble the pisaster genus of sea stars, commonly hailing from Earth and other planets with similar oceanic conditions. But this creature is markedly different. I could not find any Federation record of it.” Spock takes out a holopad and taps on it. With a tossing motion, he pulls an image off the screen and brings it into the air before them. Holographic images of sea stars flash in comparison with a small 3D scan of Peebles.
“This creature--”
“His name is Peebles, Spock.” Jim smirks. Spock stares blankly before turning back to the hologram.
“While it is true that it possesses venom, the creature is no more dangerous than a common housecat. It is incapable of administering enough toxin to cause significant damage to humanoids. Its barbs can be quite painful, but they are not life-threatening.”
“There you have it. Thank you, Spock.” Jim grins smugly. Bones scowls.
“Anytime, Captain. I am here to answer any additional questions as you decide on a course of action.” Spock’s face almost passes for neutral, but Bones knows his mischief too well.
“What does it eat? Living flesh?” Bones jabs, glaring at the fuzzy pink lump trying to play with the pretty lights.
“We are unsure at this time. It has a sensitive, porous dermal layer, but no mouth. I hypothesize that it uses the same protrusions to feed as it does to navigate. A full scan would be required to glean more.” Spock gazes at Peebles. Peebles blinks his big, sparkly eye up at Spock in wonder. He makes a swipe at Spock’s face, then his ear, trying to transfer hosts, but Spock quickly steps out of range. Peebles whimpers.
“So he’s harmless?” Jim cuddles Peebles back to him and soothes him like an infant.
“Negligibly. I would avoid testing that hypothesis, Captain.” Spock gives Jim a very knowing look that momentarily satisfies Bones…at least until he catches Peebles reaching for him. He scowls and scoots back.
“Still shouldn’t keep it. It could carry all kinds of diseases.”
“Thanks to Federation advancements in vaccinations, Peebles poses little risk to us by way of disease transmission. But I am sure you already knew that, doctor.” Spock’s eyebrow raises ever-so-slightly. Bones crosses his arms. Jim lights up at the use of the little guy’s name.
“Well, that’s two against one. If you’ll excuse me, I’m gonna try and figure out what this guy eats before he stabs me. C’mon, buddy.” Jim stands and scoops him up. Peebles waves at Bones, its eye curving in some approximation of joy. Flabbergasted, he waves back.
He doesn’t get paid enough for this.
Bones knows Jim’s scream better than he knows himself. So when he hears it in the middle of the night, it shreds something inside of him. He’s at Jim’s door in a second, medkit in hand, using his key to unlock the door. He stumbles in before it opens all the way, chest heaving--
Jim holds Peebles aloft, face-flushed, while the little devil attempts to wriggle out of its grip. Grasping tendrils curl up Jim’s arm, way too long, and wrench for purchase. Suction-cupped indents cover his bare torso, an angry pinkish-red against his already rising blush.
“So, uhm—“ Jim swallows nervously— “I figured out what he eats.”
“We are sending that thing back where it came from, end of discussion.” Bones seethes.
“Sit.” Jim narrows his eyes.
“Jim—“
“Sit, Bones.” Jim risks letting go of Peebles with one hand to pat the space next to him.
Bones does as he’s told. His eyes rove over Jim’s bare torso, checking for injuries. He doesn’t like the faint red marks smattering Jim’s skin, ones that the creature has clearly left in its wake, but…he’s unharmed. Visibly, anyhow. That brings Bones some measure of relief.
“Watch. And don’t…just keep your mouth shut, alright?”
“I’ll do what I damn well please with my mouth,” Bones snaps, his filter waning with his stress and lack of sleep. Jim blushes a pretty pink. Some devilish urge in Bones wants to chase that expression further, but he opts to maintain his dignity.
“Listen. Something tells me you’re already fed, you little shit--” Jim levels a finger at Peebles and it's immediately wrapped in a tendril-- “but I’ll let you have dessert. You’re lucky you’re cute.”
Peebles chirps and starts shimmying again. Jim heaves one long, belabored sigh, and lowers Peebles to his stomach. He lays on his back, shifts to get comfortable, then spreads his arms.
“Alright, have at it.”
Peebles launches with ferocity and Jim screams. Bones screams and leaps for him, but he pauses when he hears…a snort?
Bones shifts on the bed for a better angle. Jim is twitching like a man possessed, his hand hovering over the mass of Peebles on his stomach. Jim breaks out into giggles that leap with each twist, until he finally curls up and laughs in earnest.
Oh. Oh.
“Is it...tickling you?” Bones breaks out in a grin that he’s grateful Jim can’t see. Peebles scuttles over his side and Jim yelps, rolling over onto his stomach. He tries to answer, but all that escapes him are broken syllables and the sweetest of smiles.
Bones can’t help but smile wider. He has a certain quota of ridiculousness that he can tolerate, alright, and Jim accidentally bringing a tickle monster on board takes the cake but...it's nice to see him like this. Smiling. Jim's true joy is a rare luxury, these days.
Peebles crawls up Jim’s back, dodging his flailing hands and making soft, bouncy, strange little noises. Breathy, almost, and uncanny--
Peebles wriggles down into the space between Jim’s shoulderblades and the hypothesis is confirmed--Jim’s resulting screech echoes twice. Peebles is mimicking him.
“Want help?” Bones has to shout over Jim’s shrieking. The whole wing must be awake by now, but Bones can’t bring himself to care about anything but that damned smile of his.
Jim nods frantically, reaching for Bones.
“Let him go, you greedy brat.” Bones worms his fingers under Peebles and gets another giggly shriek in return. Bones pats Jim’s arm in apology.
Peebles dislodges with a pop and a contented purr. Jim flops over, throwing a hand over his face. Peebles slips from Bones’s fingers and nestles into Jim’s chest, just over his heartbeat. Both of them exhale together.
“See? Harmless?” Jim hums, beaming. Bones is too busy committing the expression to memory to argue with him.
When Peebles gets his own personnel file, Bones knows the fight is lost. He’s listed in the records as a captain’s aide, the ridiculousness of which sparks amused chatter for days. People salute Peebles as he scuttles around, and he chirps and does the same. It is…admittedly cute. A little.
They set up little heated nests for him in nearly every corner, desperately trying to keep him out of the vents and maintenance tunnels. Eventually, Chekhov fashions him a collar with a tag on it—just to keep an eye on his whereabouts. A few scrapes with heavy machinery and slamming auto doors lead Bones to set up a med file for him too. Pisaster Tremulus--Spock’s approximation of a designation based on Peebles’s pheromone diet--gets filed under Jim. Bones starts to worry that he might need a veterinary license.
The crew tours Peebles around the ship enough that he learns to navigate it on his own without more door mishaps. Turns out that he doesn’t need a human guide, but he prefers it. He seems to like being up high.
His love for being up high seems to peak with Bones, who he’s imprinted on for some reason. Bones can’t go a minute without little chirps or clicks from some corner of his office It’s better than peeling him out of a doorframe, wailing a little too much like a human child. Bones has gotten used to tentacles gripping needily on his back.
Like now, for example, when Peebles has decided that his shoulder is the only place he can sit while Bones finalizes paperwork for the crew’s physicals. Everyone but Jim is done. Saving the best for last, he thinks wryly. Peebles chirps at him, then whines.
“Hey, lil fella.” Bones reaches up and gives Peebles a fond scritch. When he goes to pull his hand away, Peebles latches on and pulls it back—like a cat, demanding to be pet. Bones chuckles and obliges with one hand, but he calls Jim with the other.
“Jim, did you feed your son today?”
“Why?”
“He’s beeping at me.” Bones tries to pull away. Peebles does not allow it.
“I think he just likes ya, Bones.”
“Sure. Your physical is in five. Do not be late.” Bones holds up his file. Jim rolls his eyes.
“Aye aye, doctor.”
The line disconnects. Bones collapses into his seat and starts sifting through the files, attempting to make a pass at organizing them. Is this his job? No. Will it drive him up the wall if he doesn’t do it himself? Absolutely.
He gets to the ‘C’s in relative peace, but by the time he hits Chekhov’s file, Peebles gets restless again. He starts shifting and making soft noises, passing feathery-soft fur just past Bones’s ears in maddening patterns.
Bones shivers.
The touch returns, more purposeful this time. It occurs to him that Jim did not answer his question earlier.
“Alright, you little bathmat.” Bones tugs at Peebles. “Off ya hop.”
Peebles does not hop. Instead, he nuzzles into the crook of Bones’s neck. One appendage slaps across his throat, curving just below his Adam’s Apple. The others splay across his collarbones, chest, and back. Were they always that long? No, right…?
A smile pries its way onto his lips. He stifles a chuckle into his fist, but the intrigued chitter at his shoulder does not bode well for him.
Bones jams his shoulders up to his ears. He reaches up to pry Peebles away again, losing his strength to laughter and caution (alright, he doesn’t want to hurt the little guy, sue him). Peebles seems to take this as an invitation to scuttle under his lab coat.
Wiggling nubs make contact with his ribcage and Bones’s knees fully give out. He curls up at his desk, muffling his laughter into the surface of it.
“I’m here early, I want a lollipop—“
“Fetch your beast.” Bones looks up from his desk, regrettably smiling, and Jim stops right in his tracks. A mischievous smirk crosses his features.
“No, I don’t think I will.” Jim crosses his arms and leans against the counter. Bones opens his mouth to chastise him and all that comes out is a squeak. He wants to curse him out, to throw a pen at him, to do anything, but then wiggling touches find the back of his ribcage and he’s toast.
Peebles is covered in small, tube-like protrusions on one side that are nightmarish to both the eye and skin, apparently. They move gently, independently, like a flock of curious pokes directly to his nervous system.
He writhes like a madman in his chair, torn between hiding his face and defending himself. He reaches for Peebles and the crafty little thing skitters right across his torso. He cackles, burying his face in his hands.
“Alright, buddy. That’s enough. Let him go.” Jim pulls Peebles off of Bones. The lump of fuzz hangs in his arms like a cat that’s been scruffed before using its limbs to scuttle up Jim’s arms.
“I forgot you could still do that.” Jim pokes Bones in the ribs with his pen. He jumps and snatches it back.
“What?”
“Smile.” Jim darts a hand out and squeezes Bones’s thigh. Bones cackles and falls out of his chair. Jim doubles over and wheezes into a hiccuping giggle fit.
“Laugh it up, you ass. Provoke me before your physical.” Bones cracks his knuckles. Jim stills.
“Bones, have mercy.” Jim holds his hands out in immediate surrender.
“No, I don’t think I will,” Bones says in a nasal mockery of Jim’s voice. Jim splutters in offense, then laughter as Bones shoves his hands under his arms. Peebles settles on Jim’s stomach and his voice spikes desperately.
“Oh, look, I’ve got an assistant! On a scale of one to ten, how much do you regret being a little shit?” Bones scratches ruthlessly at Jim’s top rib. Jim clamps his arms down like it’ll help. Like Bones hasn’t done this dance with him for years.
“T-Two and a half!” Jim giggles violently, more at the narrowing of Bones’s eyes than the dance of his fingers.
“Hmm, condition could be improved. Don’t worry, I’ll fix that.” Bones grins evilly, his fingers crawling rapidly towards Jim’s back.
“Bones!”

Fluffy February Day 8 Smile
SWTOR
Pairing: Theron Shan/Eva Corolastor
Rating: PGish
Note: i wrote this and then got smacked by the dodgeball of prophecy right before I ran Forged Alliances for the first time post-lighting changes, and Theron's teeth now glow in some dim scenes. I'm sorry that the caf-resistant veneers are now canon.
~~
There was the polite smile, the one that came on during meetings and when he wanted to exit conversations.
There was the smile that came when good things happened in public or at least in front of others.
Both of them stopped somewhere before they reached his eyes, and he never showed his teeth.
Eva noticed that about Theron from very early on.  When he was analyzed by her ship’s medical computer, one night in Rishi, she found out that none of his teeth were original.  All of his teeth were replacements, implanted into a partially reconstructed jaw.
Eva had, to that point, wondered how his teeth stayed white despite all the caf he drank.  Turned out it was the stain-resistant veneers; if SIS was going to have him lose all his teeth for them in the line of duty, the least they’d do would be to give him a replacement that would likely endure after he died (in the line of duty, of course).
He explained it away.  “I did mean it when I said being beaten up is a lot easier to cope with than the feelings that come with these sorts of ops,” he told her in a powder room in a Hutt casino, one time, when they were working together…and not together.
Not yet, for real.
Based on the few scraps that snuck out over the years, after the statutes of limitations were over, Eva heard more about how Theron lost his teeth, most of them through fights and torture.  He didn’t mind the loss; he wasn’t vain.  Most of the smiles people saw from Theron Shan were still closed-lipped.
The first time Eva ever saw true joy on Theron’s face, she’d just walked past him with a cup of caf and interrupted his meditation (which he’d decided to do in the middle of her lounge, 0600 Coruscant time).   Then his eyes lit up, and he showed off those technically perfect teeth.
She hoped that maybe the affection for the drink and then, when she saw that grin again while she was working against the Empire:  maybe some affection would spill onto her.
The smile had been packed away, but now she could compare it and contrast it with the other smiles he regularly gave.  It was different.
It was real.  Maybe the teeth were not real.  But the feelings he couldn’t hide were very real, when that smile appeared.
It disappeared, regularly.  She would go weeks without seeing it.  But then it would return.
The first time it was directed at her, with no attempt to hide it, Eva Corolastor felt as if the universe had stopped, just for her.  In the quiet of a hotel room the night after a messy mission, she’d said, “I like you.”  Not the cover they’d played.  She’d provoked it again when she said, “You were a great husband, while the marriage lasted.”
Theron looked as if he’d been struck by the best sort of lightning, both times, the surprise coming to the fore only to be replaced by real happiness (?).  It was honest, whatever it was.
The smile came more easily the longer they were together.    Eva lost count of the number of real smiles, with all of those technically perfect teeth that he didn’t show to just anyone, on Rishi and Yavin.  And those smiles were for her.  Because of her.  The Voidhound’s fortune could hang; this felt like treasure.  …Especially when she realized the smiles in the holos from his childhood were that real smile, all the time as he and his father traveled the galaxy.
Then the smile was gone with a planet: Haashimut.
Eva knew someone else had made him smile again afterwards, and she silently thanked them – all of them.  Because if they hadn’t, she probably couldn’t have, not even with all her charms.
Then, fifteen years later, it was gone again: Ziost.
Eva… was pretty sure those real smiles didn’t happen often while she was gone.  Maybe Gary from Analytics’s kid Rivia got one or two of them, because she was a bright spot in his life during the five years .  (Theron admitted that to Eva; she represented hope and the future, something everyone around her had lost before she was born.  “That’s a lot to put on a baby.”  “It manifested in a lot toys and contact naps.”)
When Eva returned, there were more lines in Theron’s face.  Not from smiling.  Same went for the grey hair creeping at his temples.  Not from happy events.  For about… twelve hours, Eva wondered if she’d ever see that expression on his face again, caused by anyone or anything.  It didn’t have to be her, even though she wanted it to be.  She just didn’t want him to be her dour, workaholic ops manager with no joy in his life other than his duty.
…but Eva only had to wait twelve hours for him to smile at her, under the moonlight, right before they went home together.
The smile lived in Virtue’s Thief.  It still wasn’t available for public consumption, generally, but Eva could still draw it out of him when incredible success happened.  As their cadre on Odessen became closer knit, others noticed the difference in Theron’s smiles as well.
And after the Eternal Fleet was gone entirely.
After the galaxy ended again for both him and her…
Toothy grins with all the creases in his face showing – new lines, this time from smiling far too much.  The two of them were finally free of a little conspiracy on Korriban, and while the Empire and Republic snapped at each other, the Alliance had peace.  They had peace. Never quiet – always something rattling in the galaxy that attracted their attention.  But not being in constant mortal peril – that was peace for people like them.
Both of their children wore their father’s grin, never dimmed by for second.  Sure, both also had a certain setting for devilry and chaos from Eva, but the utterly innocent feral joy children had manifested in their father’s smile.
Eva lived for that smile and for every face that wore it.  And it was a hell of a good life.

Hii it's me yet again...can we please imagine you getting home and it's been a tiring day cause it's close to the holidays and work has been demanding and Din practically drags you to bed and ends up giving you a massage cause you're so tense...then somehow it ends up turning into soft kisses then you're clinging to him tight and perhaps it turns a bit spicier...🤭🙈🥰
Ohhhh yes yes yes 😍 I'm sorry this took so long and we're past the holidays, but I love and appreciate you always having the best ideas and for letting me run with them. 💖
You were sure it was worth taking a job on a quiet planet and letting Din spend time with Grogu for a while, even if the timing had been a little... Off. Working at a small cantina had been such an easy choice since you'd already done the waiting tables thing before you started traveling with the Mandalorian and his little green buddy. The problem was Life Day was right around the corner and you found out that this "quiet planet" wasn't so quiet around the holiday.
Throwing open the door to your little house after a particularly busy day, you drag yourself through the threshold and drop your jacket on the table next to you, kicking off your shoes as you shut the door.
"I'm home," you announce. Din peeks his head around the corner, plate and towel in hand and no helmet in sight.
"Hey cyare," he smiles, disappearing for another moment and returning sans dish, towel thrown over his shoulder. "How was work?"
"Long," you sigh, crossing the room and wrapping your arms around Din's waist.
He embraces you in return. "I can tell," he murmurs into your head. Pulling away to study your face, his eyebrows crunch in concern, "I just put Grogu down for the night, have you eaten?"
"Patrick made sure we all got a good meal before he shut the cantina down for the night." You smile tiredly at him, reaching up to rub the spot where his still scrunched eyebrows meet. "I'm fine, Din, just tired."
"I know what you need." Without warning, he scoops you in his arms and starts walking down the hallway toward your shared room. His strength never stopped amazing you, picking you up like you weighed nothing. You'd remarked on it once and he just shrugged, promising you he'd always be strong enough to take care of you however you needed. In the years since, he'd kept true to that promise.
Once the comfort of your bedroom comes into view, you begin to finally relax. Shutters are pulled over the small window and a candle is lit on the bedside table, casting the room in a soft glow. Simple but inviting linens cover the bed and plush pillows begin to call your name the moment you set eyes on them. Din crosses the room with easy steps, laying you gently on the mattress.
Tenderly, he begins unlacing your overshirt, sliding the sleeves down your arms and laying the garment over the end of the bed. He gestures for you to remove your undershirt, "Roll over."
You slip the camisole over your head and position onto your stomach, already melting into the soft blankets. After you've settled, warm hands begin moving up and down your back.
His hands, so sure and steady as the work the knots out of your shoulders and neck, begin to stray as they work lower and lower down your back. You smile and peek back at him, "Someone's exploring."
He looks away from his hands and meets your gaze, a coy smile playing on his lips, "Sorry, cyar'ika, I couldn't help myself." He places a chaste kiss between your shoulder blades and begins working his way up your back.
"Hey, I didn't say I wasn't enjoying it..." you begin, shifting a little to get a better look at his face. His eyes dips to your bare chest and back up to your lips before he can drag his gaze all the way back to your eyes.
The fire in his gaze is the only warning you get before he leans down and kisses you, softer than you expect. Your hands lazily weave into his tousled curls. As you really start to melt into the connection, Din pulls away with a sharp inhale.
"Wait, what are you-"
Din shakes his head and clears his throat, "You've had a long day, I wasn't trying to... I really did just want to give you a back rub." You stare at the blush beginning to creep across his face.
"Din," your voice drops, "you did give me a back rub. And it was perfect. Now..." You tug at the hem of his shirt for emphasis, "I'd like to continue what we were just doing."
He chuckles darkly and mumbles something along the lines of yes ma'am before diving back. Your arms find their familiar place crossed behind his head, pulling him as close to you as possible.
It's like coming home in a way you can't describe. Your time together had always been like that; from day one the safety and serenity he constantly gave you opened your eyes to just how incredible the galaxy could actually be.
His lips cover every inch of you, never wanting to leave your embrace for too long. You cling to him as his fingers graze your every curve and the shimmer building along your spine and pooling in your stomach starts to demand attention.
"Din," you pant, chest heaving in time with his ministrations between your legs. "Not yet," he whispers in your ear, fingers unrelenting in their pace. "Hold on for a little longer."
"Can't," is all you can muster, nails digging into his shoulders.
"Yes you can." Din's voice drips with honey as he murmurs into your neck, "My girl can do anything."
The praise pushes you closer to the edge and you desperately hold onto any part of him you can reach as if it would help you keep your release at bay.
"Please," you whimper, "ple-."
Din silences your pleading with a kiss, adding his thumb to circle your clit in tight circles and you explode.
Waves crash through you and you moan into his mouth, your back arching off the bed. White blinds the backs of your eyelids for a few heartbeats before your body starts to relax. When you open your eyes, Din's hand is brushing sweat from your brow. His deep, shining eyes are crinkled in a smile as he looks down at you.
"You're magnificent," he whispers.
A croaking laugh escapes your lips, throat dry from your heavy breathing moments ago. "You send me into space and I'm the magnificent one?"
Din laughs with you and sits up against the headboard, pulling you into in lap and folding you in his arms. "Yes," he answers simply before placing a kiss to the top of your head.
"I love you," you mumble into his chest.
Sleep begins to swiftly take you. Safely wrapped in Din's arms, you let your eyes close and snuggle closer to his warm body. As you drift off to the sound of his steady heartbeat, Din once again whispers,
"I love you, too."

Helloo!! Thanks for answering my ask about the matchups! If it’s possible I’d like one for trigun/trigun stampede!! (And if two is ok, then haikyuu as well (timeskip of course)) !!
I’m 20, and I’m bi (with a preference for men if that makes sense)! Not sure if appearance matters, but I’m 5’10 and I’ve got an athletic build; I have shoulder length brown hair, hazel eyes and I’ve got a noticeable scar on my lip (unfortunately smh). My hobbies are mostly sports related, I play D1 rugby and I sail! I have a very sarcastic sense of humor, and I’ve got the stereo typical New England attitude (kind but not nice, the common example for this is if your car breaks down, a new englander will call you stupid and make fun of you but they will help and teach you how to fix the car lol). I care for my friends deeply but I have a hard time showing it, I’m also a very empathetic person (saw a tiktok about a sick cat and nearly threw up crying 💀). I’m a double major in neuroscience and psychology and I am working on my first scientific publication, I take pride in my work and academic achievements!
Let me know if you need anymore info about me! Thanks again for letting me send in the matchup request, take your time finishing/making it!
Hello Darling!
I am so sorry for just now answering this request. It has been a long time since you put in this request and due to some very unforeseen circumstances I disappeared off the face of the planet for like two months. BUT IM BACK AND SHITTIER THAN EVER.
So lets jump right in to it... I will in fact match you with both Trigun: Stampede and Haikyuu characters.
So for Trigun, I sat back and mulled this over and then it hit me like a truck...Nico. You both would be sarcastic, but yet he would be able to show you his soft side. Your empathy to things would make him so incredibly soft...he would also be taken by your beauty and your ability to dish out whatever shit he gives you.
For Haikyuu...this one could have went several ways because lets be honest, these men are athletic. Now with intelligence, some of them are a little...lack luster; but we love them still. I think you would match perfectly with Kuroo. Again, your attitude would be able to draw him in because you aren't "fragile", yet you are sweet and caring when you want to be. You both can be spend time playing sports and watching sports together. YOU ALSO WOULD BE A GENIUS COUPLE! He would love to hear all about your academic accomplishments and would love to read everything you write in case you want to run it by someone before submitting it.
Give both of these men smooches because they both would give you the world. Nico would be a little more shy when it came to outward affection around people. Kuroo would love to fluster you by kissing you out in the open; especially if he knew it would effect you.

Read you post about internet relationships that become romantic. I agree with it wholeheartedly that it’s more likely to end in heartache. I feel like sharing a tiny bit of my heart that hasn’t fully healed yet. (Tw for disappearance/possible loss)
I met someone online, 13hrs apart. Both of us literally on opposite sides of the world. It was here on tumblr and we met through a fandom. Over the course of a year our mutual standing became more than that. We’d call on discord and video chat, send each other the sappiest messages to wake up to. This online dating lasted 2 delightful years. Until one day, they never logged back on anywhere. None of our friend group nor their followers heard from them or saw them on any other media sites. It was like they vanished off the face of the earth and none of us knew why. I couldn’t even properly look up news reports to find out if something happened. It’s been 3 years, I’m finally allowing myself to be open to finding a relationship in-person. But a large piece of my heart went with them and I’ll never know what happened to take them from me.
My apologies for this super sad and personal story. Your warning about relationships online I felt this may offer another example of caution.
Aww! 🥺 I'm glad you felt comfortable enough sharing your story with me. And I'm really sorry. I resonate with this story a lot because something kind of similar happened to me? Not the part of them never logging back on and disappearing off the face of the planet - but something similar. When I was 16-17ish, I roleplayed in the Kingdom Hearts fandom with friends on FB. We all grew super close the 4 of us, I was the only girl of the group. And I got really close to one of them, we'd talk all the time, roleplay and ship together, call on the phone, everything.
Then one day, I still remember it and have the message. He said he was going somewhere with his dad and he was drunk and his dad insisted that he'd come with and help. That's the last I ever heard from him. We may have dated a year give or take; didn't hear from him in days and a friend from the group messaged me and gave me the hard news. His dad hit head on with a tree and my boyfriend died on impact but his father lived. This happened back in 2011. It's been 13 years - and I'm just realizing that now. He was so young and I think fondly of him often, even if he isn't here anymore. The friend group don't talk to each other like we used to, but every other year or so we reach out to one another again.
So, keep your head up and your heart safe, think fondly of them always. ❤️
