The way Aziraphale talked to the Bentley, soft and gentle, but with a hint of something else making it behave the way he liked was a lot actually and I really feel that the way he said ‘Now you’re getting it. OoOooh that’s much better. What do we do? We play classical music that staaaays classical music.’ was just…
Listen. It was horny as hell and that’s why Crowley cut in like that. He’s trying to ‘work’ at the bookshop and babysit Gabriel all the while Aziraphale is there talking to his car Like That?? No. Too much.
#aziraphale was giving crowley a raging ***** from miles away and he had to shut it down#sorry I just rewatched that scene and it’s either that or Michael is just always Like That#good omens

RvB 20th rewatch: s12
Aaaagahhahhsjshaj the mid point to the end…. Fucking agony
I never noticed the cabose written in bullet holes on the wall. Nice reference.
“I AM FUCKING AWESOME” that single moment made me fall in love with Felix…. Yeah that didn’t last
“Yay I have friends!” Me too Caboose
“You’re oddballs that don’t exactly fit in” I feel like the Chorus trilogy is just a love letter to what these characters represent to… well people like me who found comfort in a group of loser assholes finding strength and connection in each other
There is a warthog that is absolutely freaking out in the background AGDKHAKSHS
AYO Ray and Michael cameo!!!
SURPRISE MOTHERFUCKER
Grif’s mental breakdown
Hmmmm thinking about Locus and Felix not being able to return to normal life after the war…
AAAAAHHHH THEIR STRENGTH IS THEIR IDIOCY
I do feel that sometimes they overuse animation in this season… I think animation should be reserved strictly for the most necessary and funniest of bits and bad ass action scenes
Caboose gets to be the one with a good bad idea!!!!
WHY SNOWMAN
DR GRAY!!!!!! MY BELOVED
It really was a big brain move to make the feds actually not evil at all and kinda just as pathetic as the rebels
HOLY SHIT HES BILINGUAL PLEASE DONT KILL ME
“You give meaning to meaningless objects and meaningless people and then risk your lives to protect them, where’s the sense in that” I’m telling you this arc is a love letter to what this show means
Gray is unhinged- she fits right in!
Bro just got incinerated
FELIX YOU RAT BASTARD
I felt so betrayed- in hindsight I really should’ve seen it coming but I thought Felix was funny
Yo I never actually caught that Locus hands the grenade to Carolina- for some reason I always thought she just had a grenade on her
CAROLINA BABYGIRL!!!!!!!
YOU FUCK!!!!! (Just so we’re clear that was an absolutely necessary animated bit 👍🏼)
AAAAHHHH EPSILON AND CAROLINA MY BELOVED AHSKHAKSHSKHSKSH
THEYRE SO SILLY
DELTA!!!!!!
THETA!!!!!
I love the fragments ajkdhakshksh
“Just you and me sis” I AM SO NORAML ALANSKLA IA AMANA SNORNSMNSK JAKAHSNLAJANKSJSKSHWKBSKSNKSHWKSHMSK
PSYCHOANALYSIS FOR EVERYONE!!!!!
Love that Caboose is the only one who didn’t do something to the ship
I AM AN EMOTIONAL TIME BOMB Jesus Christ
“I believe he said he was paid in babies”
Lopez a real one for being the only one to remember Doc
Love the conversation between grimmons back at the crash site. nuance about Simmons and leadership or something… if you catch what I mean… Restoration (what who said that)
“MY LIFE JUST FLASHED BEFORE MY EYES!! IT WAS AWESOME!!!” Quoted line
AAAAAHHHHHHH TUCKER AND WASH!!!!!!!!
Dr. Gray my beloved
TUCKER CABOOSE MOMENT!!!
Wash was pretty dumb to just accept Freckles without question but also I never questioned it either so I can’t exactly judge
CABOOSE MY BELOVED AHAJSJAKDHKSJSKDN
SO SHUT UP AND GET OVER IT!!! Caboose finally gets to be the one to tell someone to shut up!!!!!
“Just say you’re sorry” agskahkshskjsksAJGDKAHSKHDKSGSKVDKDJKSN THEY CARE ABOUT EACH OTHER SO MUCH
CHURCH TUCKER MY BELOVED!!!!!
“Seriously? That’s it, no ‘I’m sorry’ nothing?” Carolina I feel you but also if these guys weren’t completely emotionally constipated at all times I probably wouldn’t love them as much
Also Tucker and Church’s little moment of poking fun at Carolina is so cute omg
Trocadero you are truly something to behold
TUCKER YOU ARE THE BEST OF THEM!!!!!!!
Imagine if Tucker and Church had also gotten caught in Locus and Felix’s teleporter… wouldn’t that have sucked please god I already have a big fic I’m planning I don’t need another
COLONEL SARGE
Why is Carolina so damn BIG next the chairman in that picture ajhdkahsj
P.S. suck our balls
Being completely honest I do think s12 is a little bit of the weak link in the chorus trilogy. It’s not bad but I just find more enjoyment in s11 and s13 but it is possibly Tucker at his best GOD I love him… anyway, pain 🙂

Guest stars of note: Lesley Boone was back from “Best Seller” as Nina Barnes. Marilu Henner as Elizabeth Kilbride, Valerie Azlynn as Colleen/Paulina Kaminska, Michael Bow as Sean Baker, Nick Hargrove as Clyde Greene and JT Neal as Bartender.
Our heroes: Track down chips on their way to foreign enemies.
What important things did we learn about: Callen: Plans to leave his Leatherman to Sam. Sam: Has a guy who can make the Leatherman leaving an item in Callen’s will. Kensi: Wants a 9PM curfew for Rosa. Deeks: Thinks about therapy after a creepy doll encounter. Fatima: Notices something different about the Admiral. Rountree: See Fatima. Kilbride: Hanging with the ex.
What not so important things did we learn about:
Callen: Not impressed with the bartender’s screenplay plans. Sam: Does the big chase on foot. Kensi: Third Eye Blind fan. Deeks: Missed curfew by two-days. Fatima: In the mood to go clubbing. Rountree: Worried about massive rains in Los Angeles. Kilbride: Plays Wordle.
Where in the world is Henrietta Lange? No idea.
Who's down with OTP: Kensi and Deeks are in full parent mode. Kilbride and the ex have a warmer relationship than one might think.
Who's down with BrOTP: Sam has yet another guy for Callen.
Fashion review: Callen wore a dark blue, button down shirt. Long sleeve black tee for Sam. Kensi wore a white sweater with buttons. A pale red sweatshirt for Deeks (not quite pink but not quite red either). Fatima’s leather jacket looks soft like butter and it is over a concrete grey turtleneck. A dark pink jacket over a red sweater for Rountree. The Admiral is three piece suiting with a pale blue dress shirt and blue tie.
Music: “These Boots Were Made for Walking” by Nancy Sinatra opens the episode. There is a song at the end that I could not track down and the credits didn’t show up in the closed caption (which rarely happens).
Any notable cut scene: Not today.
Quote: Elizabeth: “We were still in the hospital, and I was still in pain. I couldn't sleep. So you told me that you wouldn't either. Even though you had just gotten back from... wherever they had sent you.” Kilbride: “Cambodia. We were in and out in 36 hours.” Elizabeth: “Yeah, you were exhausted. So there you were, holding Alex, and...fighting like hell to stay awake for me. Then you fell asleep. Now, I may have been young and..but I was smart enough to know that there are very few certain things in this world. And seeing the two of you like that...I said, "Damn it, one thing is sure. That man will always be there for his boy." You let me down, Hollace. But more importantly, you let Alex down too.”
The Nina Barnes rugelach conversation was a delight.
Anything else: A woman walks into a hotel’s rooftop bar dragging a small, carry-on suitcase behind her. With a bit of a southern accent, she asks the bartender for something quick and fancy, like a gin and tonic, hold the tonic. She and the bartender share a laugh. As he goes to make the drink, the woman speaks to another patron sitting at the bar. She remembers seeing the bartender on one of the CBS soap operas. Her fellow patron isn’t a soap fan. He’s busy with his phone. She introduces herself as Colleen from Virginia. He’s Sean. She’d love to stay with him but she’s flying home to Virginia in two-hours. Sean is worried that she’ll miss her flight, traffic it LAX is a disaster. She’s flying out of Long Beach. That’s not much better. If she leaves right away, she might make it, according to Sean. Colleen quickly makes her way to the door.
As she walks through the hotel’s mezzanine level, Sean catches up with Colleen. She took his suitcase by mistake. She apologizes and Sean seems good with it. Except she’s not apologizing for taking the bag. She swings the suitcase at his head. The two fight – Sean has no problem hitting her and Colleen has no issue kicking Sean off the mezzanine and to the floor of the hotel lobby.
Sam drives in with Callen. The two are talking about a text Callen sent Sam. If anything ever happens to Callen, he wants Sam to have his Leatherman tool. Sam wants Callen to talk to an estate lawyer – Sam knows a guy. Callen tells same he doesn’t need an estate lawyer, he doesn’t really own anything. Sam disagrees. If Callen is getting married, he needs to have his affairs in order. The Leatherman is going to Deeks now.
Deeks is telling Kensi a story about cows and missing curfew by two-days. Kensi didn’t really have a curfew because she was homeless but before her father died, she stayed out late to see Third-Eye Blind. While she made it home in time, she stole backstage passes. Realizing that teenagers do things they shouldn’t, Rosa is looking at a 9PM curfew.
In the office, Rountree is worried about catastrophic rains, an ARKStorm, that are headed to Los Angeles. Fatima, not so much when she hears it is between five months and 50-years. She hopes they can solve their case before the rains come.
In Ops, Sean Baker, the fellow from the bar, is on the big screen. Currently in critical condition, Baker has been living in the York Park Hotel. Callen asks why is NCIS interested. Baker is the co-founder of Almaya Technautics, an LA-based company working with the Navy. If they are LA based, why would Baker be living in a hotel Rountree asks. Fatima isn’t sure but the address on his driver’s license is no longer current.
According to the Navy, Almaya Technautics was creating autonomous rescue agents for the battlefield. Basically robots. If the robots were trained to find members of the US military on the ground, they could also be programmed to hunt and kill the military members by a bad actor.
Cameras were off in the mezzanine and lobby areas – no way to know how Baker wound up on the lobby floor but witnesses saw him with a blonde woman. Security cameras on the hotel rooftop has a clear photo of Colleen. Facial recognition has not matched her with anyone in the system. Kilbride wants to find Colleen and see if she’s made off with any of Baker’s technology. Callen and Sam are on their way to hotel. Kensi and Deeks are interviewing an exec from Baker’s company to see if there were any threats prior to the morning’s attack.
When Callen and Sam leave, Rountree asks about Kilbride, who isn’t in the office. Fatima says all the information she got about the case was from him via an encrypted message. Rountree worries if he is in trouble.
In his house, Kilbride is straightening his tie when he hears a door open. A woman – Elizabeth - wearing what looks to be his bathrobe is walking into the kitchen with some daisies. Kilbride is surprised she’s still there. He also remembers that she hates daisies. Elizabeth is touched he remembered she hated daisies. Maybe if he remembered their wedding anniversary, they wouldn’t have divorced 30-years ago. She’s kidding, they got divorced because of his temper.
Kilbride has had enough of memory lane – he’s going to the office. Elizabeth was about to make them breakfast but he had nothing but expired Vienna sausage in the fridge. Kilbride recommends a diner down the street. Whispering, Elizabeth said they had fun the night before. “Last night was something,” Kilbride replies.
The Admiral really wants to know why Elizabeth is there. She said she told him last night – she was in town for conference, thought they could get drinks and catch up. “Well, I didn’t expect us to catch up so much.” Saying he was able to read her face since she was 25-years old, Kilbride wants to know what Elizabeth really wants. She wants to take a shower. He tells her where the towels are and asks her to lock the door when she leaves.
Callen and Sam check around the hotel – which is a pricy place. Employees told Sam that Colleen left through a back stairwell. LAPD said she had Baker’s suitcase. Cameras saw her in the alley but lost her once she hit the streets. Fatima is checking for nearby security cams. Sam sees the blood on the mezzanine floor. Callen uses the blood stains to recreate the fight. With the distance between the blood spots, Callen and Sam realize they are dealing with a professional.
In the boat shed, Kensi and Deeks are meeting with Clyde Green, Baker’s partner. He immediately asks about Baker, who is out of surgery and things are looking better. Greene thinks Baker’s mother is going to blame him for the fall. “She blames me for everything bad that happens to him.” They’ve known each other since they were kids and they got into the trouble that kids get into. Deeks brings up his conversation with Kensi – cows and Third Eye Blind. Greene is unfamiliar with Third Eye Blind, offending Kensi.
Back to Baker, he and Greene had the idea for the company in their dorm room in college but they built up their resumes with other jobs so they could get the company off the ground. About a year ago, everything changed with the explosion of interest in AI. Asked why Baker was staying in a hotel, Greene tells them Baker stays in hotels all the time. Moves every few weeks, likes to shake things up. Does the same thing with his hobbies – finds consistency smothering. Deeks agrees, again offending Kensi. Back to Baker, Kensi asks if Greene knew anyone interested in hurting Baker. He does not. Greene wants to go back to the office – things are chaotic after what happened that morning. When Greene leaves, Kensi says she and Deeks aren’t the only ones who are best friends and working together. Deeks agrees but the only thing he started in his dorm room was a fire with a hot plate. Kensi asks what’s a hot plate.
In Ops, Fatima asks an arriving Kilbride if he is okay. “Well, considering that I have been forced to live out my so-called golden years in this overly triggered insecurity blanket of a town, the answer is no, Agent Namazi.” Fatima is almost laughing but knows that’s the wrong move. She mentions she was worried when he wasn’t in that morning. He wants a sitrep. Fatima looks at the Admiral and asks if there is something different about him that day. The Admiral doesn’t think he should have to beg for a sitrep.
Fatima has been in touch with the Office of Naval Research. All work done by Baker and his company is being reviewed and any systems installed are being prepared for possible cyberattacks. Rountree walks in talking about access to Baker’s bank accounts without knowing the Admiral was there. Looking at Kilbride, Rountree asks if there is something different about him that morning. “I got highlights,” Kilbride snarks before asking Rountree to proceed.
Baker has been paying a downtown art gallery for a studio over the last three months. Without a home and without a longstanding hobby, why would he be paying an art gallery over the last few months? Saying they need a warrant, the Admiral wants Kensi and Deeks to check out the gallery. As he leaves Ops, Fatima and Rountree are looking at him. When he turns around to face them, they quickly turn away.
At the rooftop bar, LAPD is all over the place. Callen talks to the bartender, who wonders if they got any hits on the fingerprints yet. He used the word “hit”. Callen thinks he is the one who should be asking questions, not the bartender. The bartender starts on the perps who left without paying. Callen asks him not to use the term “perps”. The bartender is also working on a screenplay. He’s been researching crime for his story. Callen claims he isn’t a big reader.
Sam arrives with Baker’s briefcase. The laptop is still inside. Recapping the events of the day, the bartender confirms the woman from the security footage sat down with “our John Doe.” Sam makes it clear, it is not “our” John Doe. Or even a John Doe. Callen shows the bartender a photo of Sean Baker, who not only confirms he was the guy at the bar, he also tells Callen and Sam that Baker was upset when he noticed his bag was gone. Callen and Sam discuss that Colleen likely target Baker. “And we all know how that worked out,” the bartender says shaking his head. After a glare from Callen and Sam, the bartender is back behind the bar.
Callen wonders what was in the suitcase that was so important to Baker. On Baker’s briefcase, Sam finds an Apple tracker. There is likely a similar tracker in Baker’s suitcase.
Walking into the art gallery, Kensi and Deeks are in a studio Baker was using. Looking around the studio, Kensi finds a box of dolls. Cutting open one of the dolls, she finds a microchip – AT4756. AT, like Almaya Technautics. Kensi starts checking other dolls – they all have microchips. Baker may have been selling them.
With all the dolls cut open, Kensi feels really bad. Fatima, on comms, thinks they are living a reboot of “Child’s Play”. Unlike most computer chips, the microchips can be repurposed for all kinds of technology – they could work in drones, missiles or dishwashers. US manufacturers of chips are not allowed to sell them internationally – why give a possible enemy such high end technology. Baker could have been providing these to foreign militaries for big money. Fatima is going to call Clyde Greene to see if any other chips are missing.
Callen and Sam call Rountree. Rountree got a warrant to go into the iCloud and track Baker’s suitcase. In the meantime, Baker’s personal devices are clean. That makes sense to Callen – a career in tech means Baker knows what not to put on a personal device. The suitcase is currently in a parking lot downtown. Callen and Sam are on their way.
As Rountree ends the call, the Admiral passes by on the office’s second floor. He’s explaining to Elizabeth that he’s busy at work with a national security matter. She’s making them dinner and dessert. She’s brought in groceries including leafy green vegetables. She’s worried about his heart. “There’s a first time for everything,” Kilbride notes. Elizabeth tells him she misses their fights. They bring up best fight in the Tropicana in Atlantic City where she stabbed him with a crab knife. They made up twice in the elevator.
Ending his call with Elizabeth, the Admiral is approached by Fatima. “Walk and talk, Agent Namazi.” The two go down the main part of the office. Nobody on any flight leaving Los Angeles – any LA airport – matches Collen’s description. The Navy also confirmed that the chips in the dolls were manufactured by Almaya Technautics. Clyde Greene isn’t at the office so they can’t confirm if any other chips are missing. The Admiral wants a sitrep when she has something new to tell him, not a rehash of what she doesn’t know. Fatima sighs as the Admiral walks away. Offering some comfort, Rountree tells her the ARKStorm could wash them all away and the Admiral wouldn’t remember their conversation. It doesn’t help Fatima.
Rountree thinks if Baker was selling the chips, he would have to have buyers. There’s one person in the selling weapons to bad guys business they could talk to. And she has pastries.
Callen asks Sam about what he’s getting if Sam “heads out to that big math competition in the sky.” Sam’s turn to be offended. He’s not dying first – Sam tells Callen that Callen thinks the sixth food group is “fast”. Callen is worried that Sam keeps things bottled up – that will catch up to him. Callen and Sam see Clyde Greene pulling a suitcase from a car’s trunk. Sam yells “federal agents” and Greene talks off with Sam behind him. It isn’t much of a chase.
While Fatima looks at the parking lot’s security cameras, Sam tells Callen the suitcase is empty. Greene explains this is all a misunderstanding. Callen and Sam were not the federal agents he spoke to that morning. Callen asks if Greene thought there were only two federal agents in the entire city of Los Angeles. “Budget cuts are no joke.”
Callen and Sam have a theory – Greene found out that Baker had a side business. Afraid of being cut out, Greene hired a killer to take out Baker. Greene could cash in on all of Baker’s side deals and on the success of Almaya Technautics. Greene said he didn’t hire anyone to kill anyone. Their deal with the Navy barred Almaya Technautics from selling their chips to anyone. With the worldwide shortage of the chips, they did a few side deals on the dark web. Baker got greedy – he was going to sell 200. That’s what was in the suitcase – the buyer was going to be in the bar. Callen explains that Baker was set up. They knew he’d be in the bar with the suitcase. Enemies of the US could now have the chips – Greene could be charged with treason.
Nina Barnes is selling a customer on her new cupcakes – horseradish in the mix – when Kensi and Deeks arrive. She thinks Kensi and Deeks are there to thank her for the rugelach she sent for Hanukkah. They’re not but they were grateful for the rugelach. Kensi shows Nina a photo of Colleen – does Nina know her. Nina does not. Deeks explains that Colleen may be involved with stolen microchips. Nina doesn’t deal in microchips but they are changing the world of arms dealing. While she’s not in the microchips business, Nina knows someone who is.
Back in the office, Callen and Sam are approached by Fatima. She has parking lot footage including Colleen leaving her vehicle for an SUV. She’s going to an airport in Van Nuys. Callen wants Fatima to stop any air traffic in or out of the airport.
Rosetta Stone grad Nina Barnes is speaking in Italian to a contact on the phone, impressing both Kensi and Deeks. Kensi is also enjoying a cupcake. Phil Collins comes up in the phone call. Seems the Italian gunrunner confused a German gunrunner for Phil Collins. Anyway, Nina has a name – Paulina Kaminska, who was going by Colleen. Kaminska and a partner broker deals across Europe. She left the game a few years ago but she’s obviously back. Maybe the money being offered for microchips pulled her back in. Nina says Kaminska is really good at her job – she’s never been caught, that’s why she not in any database.
In Ops, Fatima and Rountree have a background for Kaminska. She’s a Polish national who has contacts all over the world. If she’s out of the US, she’s in the wind. And the microchips are up for sale to the highest bidder. Van Nuys airport is closed to incoming and outgoing traffic. Kaminska’s vehicle was dumped off by the airport at an abandoned night club.
Callen and Sam are at the airport, Kensi and Deeks are 10-minutes out. Callen and Sam see Kaminska move the chips but a vehicle pulls up to where she’s making the deal. Two more men come to the sale. Callen takes photos of the men and send them to Ops. Kilbride orders Rountree to join Callen and Sam in the Van Nuys airport. Fatima searches for the men. Callen realizes Kaminska wasn’t going to the airport, she was going to the abandoned night club.
Kensi and Deeks arrive as Kaminska and her buyers enter the night clubs. Anton Kusev is one of the men in the photos. He’s a former Russian intelligence officer who has become a Russian arms broker – one of the most wanted men in the world. Kilbride makes it clear, the sale can’t go through. Sam has a plan.
Kaminska is showing the chips to her Russian buyers when Deeks knocks on the back door. When one of Kusev’s men answer the door, Deeks knocks him out and enters the building. Deeks gets into a little hand to hand combat with another one of Kusev’s men, this guy grabs a knife from the club’s kitchen. Deeks knocks away the knife and Kusev’s man falls to the ground, making a loud noise. Kaminska, Kusev and one of his guards run. Sam and Rountree tackle Kusev and his men. Callen stops Kaminska before she can drive away.
The team are meeting around the briefcase with the chips and talking about food. Deeks says he’s feeling good about going out as long as he’s home by 9PM for Rosa’s curfew. If she has a curfew, so does he. Sam laughs at curfew. Deeks says they just stopped a Russian arms dealer – if he can’t maintain a curfew, what’s going on. And what’s going on is Deeks noticing that the microchips are different than the ones he and Kensi found in the studio. The microchips are all blank – no AT branding for Baker’s company. Callen looks over to an in-custody Kaminska. They are fakes. Callen tells Deeks and Rountree to go home. They are going to handle Kaminska.
Hoping she’d get a nap in before Callen and Sam figured it out, Kaminska tells Callen and Sam she destroyed the chips. She gives them an address to find the destroyed chips. She explains that her home is near the border. Now there are thousands of refugees crossing into Poland. Knowing what she did for years, she saw what arms dealing did to real people. “Karma’s a bitch.”
Knowing that the Russians were going to get Baker’s microchips, she stole them. They were going to Russia, China or Iran – things were not going to end well. “What’s one last job?” she asked. Callen and Sam asked why she would sell the fake chips. Well, a girl has to eat.
Rountree returns to the office. The REACT team found all 200 of the real microchips, according to Fatima. Fatima has club plans – a new retro place downtown. If they big storms are going to take them away, might as well have some fun.
Entering his home, Kilbride finds Elizabeth, jazz playing in the background and dinner was wrapped up in aluminum foil. She didn’t want to get the food cold. Sharing some wine, Elizabeth asks about the happiest day of the marriage. Kilbride jokes it was the day her mother moved away. “That woman loved you,” Elizabeth tells him. Elizabeth says it was the night after their son Alexander was born. He was just back from Cambodia and while he was exhausted, he held their son until he couldn’t fight sleep anymore. Seeing her then husband with their son, she was sure he’d always be there for “his boy.”
Feeling he let both her and Alex down, Elizabeth wanted to be sure if Kilbride changed. He claims that their son made choices, and made them as an adult. Kilbride tried to help “many times” but Alex wanted no part of his father. Elizabeth explains Alex is clean now but she’s worried it might change. She’s tired of worrying alone.
Sticking with his treatment program, Alex is going regularly. Elizabeth goes regularly as well to family therapy. She wants Kilbride there too. “Promise me you’ll thinks about it.” That earns a “fine” from Kilbride. She starts to reheat the food – crab legs. He’s switching from wine to scotch. “I think I’ll make it a double.”
What head canon can be formed from here: It will come up again later in the season but the exploration of Kilbride’s personal life should have started a season earlier. I know the prior season was about getting Callen engaged and making Kensi and Deeks parents but a man who put everything into his career at the expense of his family, a man struggling that his choices hurt his family, especially played by Gerald McRaney really would have worked on a longer runway than the final few episodes of the season.
Marilu Henner was a great choice as Kilbride’s ex. Terrific actress who can do comedy and drama, age appropriate too. One thing – Elizabeth divorced Kilbride for his temper but she stabbed him with a crab knife?
The case of the week was rather generic outside of the Ukrainian connection for Paulina. I don’t think Paulina spends a day in jail after her arraignment. Her connections are far too valuable, especially since she’s retired.
I was half expecting Sam to tell Callen it was his Leatherman tool that Callen borrowed years ago. That was a silly missed opportunity.
Kensi disappeared when they got to the bar in Van Nuys. We were told Kensi and Deeks were 10-minute behind Callen and Sam, Kensi said they were on their way and outside of speaking once to Deeks as he went into the bar on the earwigs, Kensi was MIA for the last 10-minutes of the episode.
Episode number: This is episode 13 of season 14, the 315th episode overall.

I kinda agree with a lot of what idle-teen28 said, like Al' work outside of the 70's often being forgotten about and how he absolutely deserved an Oscar for Scent of a Woman, he doesn't get enough credit for his acting in that movie.
The three movies of his from the 70's that I still rewatch are Dog Day Afternoon, And Justice for All and Scarecrow, that's it. I sometimes watch part of the Godfather movies on youtube but I never watch the full movies because they are too long and slow. However, I do think Al plays Michael brillantly.
I get that people have their own personal favorites of his films and that's great but sometimes I do feel like saying 'you know Al has made movies outside of the Godfather, right?" It can get a bit frustrating that those are the only movies people seem to care about sometimes.
I like his weird and out there characters the most so Tony Montana is my favorite and I also love Vincent Hanna. They're such wildcards, you never know what crazy stuff they will do/say next and I love that in characters. Frank Slade is another character that fits this. But I also love his sweet characters a lot, like Lion, Sonny and Arthur.
I know I'm just rambling now with no real point in what I'm saying, sorry.
Don't apologize, I love hearing these kinds of analyses from you guys!! 🥰❤️ I think Al honestly such such a profound legacy in the '70s that it overpowered and still overpowers just about everything. 😭 At the worst, filmbros only know of The Godfather and Scarface, but I feel like most people know at least 2 more films Al has made besides that. Bonus points if it wasn't filmed in the '70s lmao.
I don't have time to watch The Godfather films either 🥲 I definitely do when I'm travelling so I always give the first and second a rewatch back to back, but I'm just like you in rewatching my favourite scenes or clips bit by bit and finishing the film over time!
Al is a phenomenal actor and I'd only argue his films Jack and Jill (lmao) and The Godfather Part III were shit. I mean, Jack and Jill is somewhat funny 💀 but still, it's like... Cursed. 😂 And to be honest, Al wasn't acting as Michael Corleone or a "redeemed" and guilty Michael Corleone in Part III either. I don't know what that was but to me it seemed like he was being himself or some other character personality altogether because it had zero remnants of Michael Corleone whatsoever. I think his acting in Part III from the clips I have seen is absolutely God awful. 😶
Lion, Sonny and Arthur have such special spots in my heart. 🥺❤️ I carry those three sweet little dudes in my blorbo backpack all day, everyday!!

Soooo my season 5 wishlist kind of goes something like this:
Buck cooking for Christopher and Eddie (bonus points if both Buck and Christopher are teasing Eddie about his inability to cook)
Athena kicking the shit out of the serial rapist (I really, really, really hope that whole sequence in the promo is a dream she's having)
More Karen Wilson
Buck and the 118 being there for Maddie
Uncle Buck moments with Jee-Yun
Protective!Eddie making a reappearance alternating with a sudden appearance of Protective!Buck
Taylor's story evolving into her own (and preferably separate from Buck's) and further away from just being a love interest for Buck - I love her character and would love to see more of her (as Buck's BFF, I said what I said)
Jealous!Eddie and all of the gold that will bring with it
Albert, Ravi, and May being the ultimate trio of the "new" generation
More Bobby and Athena sweetness (I'm currently rewatching season 2 and I am just even more in love with them)
Hen or Josh cutting through Buck and Eddie's bullshit while Christopher aka the universe comes at them from the side, with Carla coming at them from the other side
Carla being told she's part of the family by Eddie, Christopher, and Buck (which would also mirror the scene she had with Abby in 1x10)
Buck and Eddie getting together (obviously) as one of the big payoffs of this season
Eddie throwing the Hildy coffeemaker out in the trash after the hacking emergency
More Buck and Maddie moments (I know they were working up to the PPD reveal for her in 4x14 but it felt odd that she didn't speak to Buck once after Eddie had been shot and while the 118 was in danger)
Eddie and Maddie friendship (lowkey manifesting this 🕯️🕯️🕯️) - I keep thinking back to Eddie being the one to ask back in 4x10 how Maddie was doing & you cannot deny the epicness of these two joining forces, you just can't
Eddie and Ana ending up where they're obviously going to end up - I'm not picky, it can happen any way they choose, but as long as it happens
Pining!Eddie and all that it entails
more Josh and Maddie friendship - does he keep in touch with her even though she quit? Especially after he did all he could to keep her from leaving that first time?
either Eddie with Jee-Yun or him seeing Buck with Jee-Yun
more Hen and Athena moments - YES PLEASE
more Michael, David, and Bobby hijinks
more David (along with Michael)
more Denny, Harry, and Christopher solidarity (bonus points for any parent trapping schemes they come up with for Buck and Eddie)
Evangeline and Nia coming around to Hen and Karen's to visit
the 118 finding out about the legal guardian reveal and Hen giving Buck a look, saying "Really?", Buck giving her that confused expression "What?", and Hen going "I feel so sorry for Eddie, who knew that boy would be into one-brain-cell idiots?", Buck going "Huh? What does that even mean? What idiot? Omg Hen, are you calling Ana an idiot? Don't say that, it will get Eds upset", Hen going "Thank you for continuing to prove my point" with Eddie muttering "Seriously" and drinking his coffee, embarrassed to meet the eye of any of the 118 because he really is in love with an idiot
Concerned!Buck making sure Eddie is doing okay, that he's not straining himself too much, that he's taking care of himself
a moment where Bobby instructs Buck to do something on a call that might be dangerous and Buck smiling wide and going "You know I would, Cap, but I can't. I'm not expendable" and Eddie muttering next to him "Oh my God" Bobby and the 118 looking baffled, Bobby going "Of course you're not expendable, Buck, but we need you to rappell down there to make sure there's no one in the car" Buck still smiling "And normally, I would, because I always thought I was expendable but I was wrong. I'm no longer Expendable Evan. That's what Eddie told me so, I'm sorry, Cap, I can't." Eddie turns his face away from Hen's wide eyes and Chim's dropped jaw, muttering to himself "You chose this. Remember that. You. Chose. This."
& then lots of moments where Buck just casually drops in any conversation that he's not expendable and Eddie's perfect eyeroll reappears & mutters of "oh my God" are heard - "Hey Buck, can you grab me a cup of coffee?" "I would, Chim, but I'm no longer expendable." "You're right there in the kitchen!" "Just because I'm in the kitchen doesn't mean I have to sacrifice myself. I mean more than that. You can get up and grab it yourself, buddy." -> "Buck, can you grab the Jaws and bring it here?" "Cap, Chim is right next to the truck, ask him." "Buck, I--" "I told you. I'm no longer expendable, Cap." -> "Buck, I know you and Taylor broke it off not that long ago but I have the perfect friend in mind for you." "Mads, thanks for the attempted setup but I'm no longer expendable" (with Eddie piping up "That's right, Evan is no longer expendable, so no more blind date setups" with a pointed glare in Maddie's direction) "Oh-kay..." -> "Buck, bring me that kit." "Hen, I would, but I'm no longer expe--" "If you even think about saying that word to me, I will grab the nearest dictionary I can find and hit you with it. Learn what the damn word means. Expendable doesn't mean free from assisting where you're needed. Now grab that damn kit and bring it to me before this man bleeds out." "Uh, you got it, Hen." "That's more like it." -> "Buck, would you mind picking up the pizza on the way back to the house?" "No problem at all, Eds. Will do." Chim: "Hey, why doesn't he get the expendable excuse?" Buck: "Because he's Eddie" and he gives Chim the look that very clearly says "Duh" and from behind him, Eddie smirks and winks at Chim before they both turn to walk away

Hi, I have a question, and I hope it would be interesting for you too... Could we talk about angel's wings and feathers?..
I always thought that angel's wings were a part of their true form, a kind of energy which we can only see as a shadows or electric sparks or ash or something like this.
And I didn't think that it could be a real wings with feathers as bird's. Until, while rewatch, I've noticed that angel's feather were mentioned in SPN at least twice (maybe you've noticed more?):
1) In 8.12 when Henry Winchester time travels he uses an angel feather in spell. And then Dean tells that Henry stole an angel feather from the trunk of the Impala. So feathers are reall??? Why did the Winchestets keep the feather in the trunk of the Impala and where they get it? (ok, maybe they found it in the bunker)
2) In 12.13 Sam uses a white feather in spell returning Gavin back in time (we know this spell needs an angel feather)
So now we can see how the real angel feather looks like???
Does that mean that the angel's wings can be presented in physical world like a real wings with feathers and this is not fanfiction? I like this idea so much.
I think that the creators of the show didn't let us to see it, as many other great things, that is sad...
I would really like to know your thoughts about this.
(Sorry for my bad english, it is not my native language...)
Hi there! First off, your English is fine! (lol it’s my native language, and I just typed it “Inglish” by accident, so you’re already doing better than I am :’D)
ETA: DON’T REBLOGGY THIS YET. I forgotted something that @thayerkerbasy just reminded me of, and I’m editing this post... brb... okay NOW YOU CAN REBLOGGY!)
As far as I know, those are the only times in canon we ever see or hear mention of an angel feather, and both times it’s for the same exact spell. They reference that it’s Henry’s spell when they use it again in 12.13, but make no mention in dialogue of it being an angel feather. Yet Sam had a whole jar of fluffy little pin feathers, so the assumption is that they’d been collecting them for a while (unless those were either found in the Men of Letters’ spell ingredient stockpile when they moved into the bunker, or otherwise given to them by Cas at some point).
It’s weird, because they seem like a very limited commodity, especially after the angels fell and their wings all burned up. Even after Cas got his original grace back, his wings never seemingly recovered. When we did finally see his wing prints in 12.23, they were still... not healthy... So my thinking is that any spell that would require them will become impossible to cast when their current supply runs out. All the other angels-- at the end of the series-- were either dead or locked in Heaven with their broken wings. We never learned any of their fates. Maybe they were all rendered obsolete under the Heaven Remodel?
A little behind the scenes from the early days of SPN as a bonus, since it’s tangentially relevant:
When they were filming the very early episodes of SPN, they had a lot of choices to make about what to show us based on what their budget would allow them to portray. Think of an episode like Wendigo, 1.02. One thing I see people say often was that it was a shame we didn’t see more of the monster, but only saw like... bushes shaking, or a vague form moving through the underbrush, or a blur. They made a stylistic choice right there to keep it within budget.
The options they faced were showing us a “dude in a rubber mask” type monster and showing it more, versus one really terrifying shot of a Proper Monster™ dying in spectacular fashion. Rather than go full-on cheesemonster, they chose to leave most of it up to our imaginations, giving us glimpses or hints of the monster.
They went back and forth on this a bit over the years, attempting to show us more on occasion, but most of those times the audience reaction has been varying degrees of wtf... Think about some of the scenes where they attempted to give us more than a glimpse at the supernatural, or a blood splatter, or whatever. It didn’t always work well. Think: the wire fight from 13.23...
I mean, it took us until 11.14 to ever see an angel “flap away,” when we saw Casifer zap Dean off the exploding submarine.
For the most part, I appreciate the fact that they understood the limitations of their own budget and didn’t give angels cheap little wings just to be able to show them on camera. Over time, only being able to see them as shadows, or as char after the angel died, became part of the lore of the show.
I blame Adam Glass for writing that spell, because he probably thought it sounded cool or whatever, that it was effectively a throwaway line because no other spell they’ve ever used has required an angel feather as an ingredient, and in story it was only linked into this larger Men of Letters Legacy plot that in retrospect feels like Chuck tying up loose ends and putting previously “deactivated” plotlines back into play.
I do find it kind of interesting that both iterations of this spell (the second resurrected by Bucklemming) were both tied to Abaddon. Henry’s spell in 8.12 brought her into the story from the past, she eventually travelled to the much further distant past to bring Gavin into the present (presumably with her own power alone, no angel feather required), and then after she was killed, they used the spell to return Gavin to his own time. So in a a way, the spell was part of a closed narrative loop, never to be referred to again.
Kinda wild that we’d never heard of angel feathers being a thing for spells until we learn that Dean apparently had some just stashed in the trunk, though... :’D
As for how corporeal angel feathers are/were, they exist in the earthly plane enough to leave char marks when they burn, when an angel is killed, so they must always have had the potential to manifest physically. I can’t imagine they ever would’ve had a budget to show us anything more than what we usually saw, though. It did give them a LOT of flexibility over how exactly they presented them to us when they DID show us. And I can’t even imagine the suffering Misha would’ve endured as an actor spending all those years wearing some weird wing harness rig. It would’ve been... impractical. And the CGI the show could’ve afforded-- especially in earlier days-- would’ve been... bad...
But what they were able to show us? Was often awesome. Remember when Raphael showed off his wings in 5.03? LIGHTNING!
And when we finally did see actual corporeal-appearing wings in 8.23... it was Dramatique™
And for More CGI Is Sometimes A Bad Thing Science, please have the attempt at Michael’s “true form” from 14.01:
It’s kinda a super-letdown after AU!Michael’s previous shadow wing displays from 13.01, but more specifically from 13.22:
those... were... badass...
Even the pre-wire-fight wing shadows on Dean were badass:
But if they’d tried to show us more of them, to make them move through action scenes for example, it would’ve been... bad...
So what we’re left with is the knowledge that there is some sort of corporeal element to wings that we simply can’t see most of the time, but clearly angels have the ability to show or hide them at will, even from other angels. Could it be an act of will on the part of the angel that manifests a bit of their grace in the form of a physical feather? Honestly, that’s the theory I’ve personally adopted toward canon. In fanfic, I’ve read tons of various headcanons about what angel wings are and how they function-- everything from “a manifestation of their true form” to “angels share a lot of traits with birds” to “an extension of their grace,” and everything in between.
I personally, in canon, like to think of it as akin to how they’ve used angel grace for other spells. I mean, when we recall that angels haven’t been on Earth much for the last few thousand years (aside from at least a couple of known incidents where angels interfered with humanity, like Ishim and Company in 12.10, for example, and the presumptive extension that the Men of Letters knew of the existence of angels and likely summoned one up a time or two the same way Lily Sunder had, giving one explanation for how Henry Winchester knew of this spell and had an angel feather to use for it, but also recontextualized when Lily Sunder taught us that humans can use their own souls to power spells in the same way angels used their grace... which sort of makes the notion of needing an angel feather AND his own soul to charge that particular spell in 8.12 a bit redundant unless Lily’s knowledge of angelic magic was more advanced than Henry’s... hrmpf.... so much tangent... back to the point)...
We did eventually learn of other spells that required an angel’s actual grace, not concentrated in the form of a feather. The Angel Fall Spell in 8.23 being the prime example. Metatron took ALL of Cas’s grace for that one, even if he didn’t use all of it for the spell and left a “fragment” (Metatron described it as “not a lot, but enough.”).
ETA: HECK. I have 9.03 on the tv right now and it’s distractedly made me disgusted enough to have forgotten something that Thayer just reminded me of: Lucifer’s “fossilized feather” in 12.07. It held enough grace to restore and heal him after Rowena’s spell in 12.03 had degraded him. Which really only adds to the theory that “feathers” are simply bits of grace that have been rendered solid somehow, but that can be transformed back into grace as needed.
And then there was the Rift Spell for travelling to alternate universes that required archangel grace, as well as the time travel/ward breaking spell that Sam found in 11.14 that ALSO required archangel grace specifically. Would these spells have worked with an archangel “feather?” Possibly, if material feathers are somehow just crystalized bits of grace, but since we never got a full explanation in canon, and never even really saw corporeal feathery wings that dropped feathers or could be plucked, and never even had mention of corporeal feathers outside of their use in this single spell, it’s really up to our own interpretation. And I kind of like it that way, because that way we get to have fun little discussions like this one. :D
I know this isn’t a definitive answer, but it’s how it all makes sense to me, in the hand-wavey sort of way that all of canon works. :’D

Hey love, so I'm rewatching the show I'm thinking about the characters that haven't been paired up yet lmfao and there are some really great possible combinations here, I'd love it if we get a wlw couple maybe Isobel and Rosa or Isobel and Maria or even rosa and Maria, all three ave very intriguing to me. Isobel and Rosa had some great chemistry in those flashback scenes even though technically it wasn't Isobel the actor chemistry is still there, Isobel and Maria have an interesting if underdeveloped dynamic and Maria and Isobel could serve some friends to lovers excellence we don't have that on the show. As for Kyle, I also see him with either Isobel or Maria tbh, they would both serve, I would also love it if he was bi/pan and he had a male love interest. This is one of those rare shows where almost all the characters could be paired up in interesting ways( although I didn't necessarily ship them Liz/Kyle Maria/Michael and Kyle/Alex had wonderful chemistry in different ways as well) I would also love it if we had an ot3, there have barely been a couple of decent ones in anything ever, like that would would so good, an actual polyamorous loving relationship. The possibilities are endless I just hope they're not afraid to go there because while we're making strides in representation 99% if they already have a queer relationship will not have another one and if they do go there fingers crossed they back it up with good writing, it would be such a waste if they didn't take advantage of the overflowing chemistry between everyone, when it comes to friendships too, I want to see more interactions between everyone, strangers things has an even bigger cast of main characters and fewer episodes and they manage to give some beautiful platonic relationships. It would work here too where we have people in pairs or threes working on something together for a few episodes and then switch it up and then everyone teams up for the last 2 or three. Lol sorry for the long essay I just see endless potential because of how great and diverse the cast is as well as the possibilities mystery and overarching plot, the show has been decent so far, handling some things far better than others but it could be so much better in my opinion.
Maribel 😭 Forever upset that S2 (very likely) killed that pairing bc they came up with that BS storyline of them somehow being related.
WHAT A LOSS! They have such amazing chemistry, and Heather and Lily have both stated in the past that they'd be down for it.
I mean, LOOK AT THEM???
And on the show?
🔥 Y 🔥 E 🔥 S 🔥
Anyway, it's unlikely for them to ever make them an item bc of the "Isobel is Maria's aunt" thing. :(
Ngl, Isobel/Rosa worked for me when they were the same age (and I assumed there was some kind of real mutual interest), now that the dynamics have shifted, I kinda like them better as friends. I'm really not someone to condemn an age gap, I just think that Rosa has so much on her plate, and she still has so many experiences to make, if they'd both be 10 years older respectively (and Rosa had had a chance to grow up, find a job she likes, make some life experiences of her own etc) it would for much better for me. Anyway, Lily and Amber definitely have chemistry, so who knows. I'm here for allllllllll the wlw pairings! \0/
I'm a strictly Kylex BroTP person, so that's not a pairing I'd want to see explored romantically, however, I really digged Kyle and Max sleuthing together last season! That was surprisingly good, and they had great chemistry.
And Isobel and Kyle? HELL YEAH. Sadly their best scene is from that cursed episode I'll never in my life touch again, but I've always been a huge Kybel fan. Although I have to say that Kyliz is my OTP. I know, I know, they'll never be endgame, but I love them together. And while I'm DYING to see Isobel exploring her sapphic side, Belmanes has grown so near and dear to my heart, I'm not yet willing to let go of the idea of them ending up together. 🥺
Kyle and Maria could be interesting, no idea whether the show's going to pair off more main characters with each other tho. We'll see.
And while I absolutely don't mind OT3s, I'm not exactly yearning for one tbh. And honestly, after the absolute WORST way to force one on us last season, I'm kinda violently opposed to the idea of this show ever getting another shot at pairing three people together.
I'd rather they focus on writing decent storylines for the core 8, write an EXCEPTIONAL COSMIC love story for Malex, and otherwise put in the effort of telling good love stories for the other characters - especially when they are queer storylines.
Lol sorry for the long essay I just see endless potential because of how great and diverse the cast
Oh, I get that, nonnie (and no need to apologize!), the cast members are all amazing, and they have such great chemistry with each other (on and off screen), it's easy to imagine all kinds of things (and hell, that's what fandom's for, right?). :D

(Side note, I definitely won’t be able to rewatch all of seasons 2 and 3 like I wanted before my Hulu subscription ends. A bummer, but I’ll watch what I can. I definitely want to rewatch the tsunami arc and “Eddie Begins” for sure. I mentioned before that 99% of what is on Hulu does not interest me, so I won’t renew my subscription until either 9-1-1 season 5B airs or when it’s complete.)
2.08 (rewatch) spoiler Thoughts
- Probably because I don’t drink, but I’ve never cared for any type of bars. Never been my scene. - I kinda forgot Michael dated Glen before he was later with David. Heh, and Glen got points from Athena for agreeing with her. - Maddie and Chim are adorable. - 🙄🙄 Taylor… 🙄🙄. Now I am not shaming people who have one night stands. Nothing wrong with two consenting adults having some fun. What I am judging is the sex in a public bathroom, particularly a bar? Ew. I’ve worked in restaurants, and bro. While we did keep it clean, there’s still nothing appealing about it. This stuff only works on TV and in books. - The lady working at the gas station, Ruth, keeping her cool while being robbed? A legend. - Sorry not sorry but even now? At this point with Buck and Taylor before we knew we had to suffer through Taylor again in later seasons? They’re boring. There’s nothing exciting or “titillating” or whatever about them. I thought this the first time I watched 911. - And Buck was wanting to even attempt a relationship at this point with her? With a woman who is clearly fine and only interested in banging it out and leaving???? Dude. Bucks “she’s smart, she’s cool.” ……………Did you forget or not care so quickly about what she wanted to do with Bobby’s story????? I am confused!!! - The elderly Mitchel and Thomas…🥺🥺💕💕 And Thomas’, “You don’t find it son, you make it.” That is Buck and Eddie in a nutshell!! They’ve made it together, and we are witnessing it go towards, finally, romance. - And then Ali is back, the lady from the earthquake. I remember that she’s kinda barely there overall (but still a more interesting character than Taylor). - Athena and Bobby dancing, awww.
(I’m now kinda skipping around episodes, since I just don’t have time to watch everything.)
2.10 (rewatch) spoiler Thoughts
- Huh, yeah it seems Buck was not a great roommate. Messy. Funny enough I recall once he gets an apartment, later, of his own, it’s always shown to be clean. Soooo he grows. - Eddie and Shannon clearly know how to connect on some level, in bed, but out of it? Ehhhhhhhh. - And yeah, Eddie doesn’t trust you, Shannon. I wouldn’t either, no matter how much I can logically get where you’re coming from, at least in terms of needing to take care of your mom. Otherwise? …You abandoned them for nearly two years. - Now that I’m watching this again, the story with Shannon, I honestly think it’s the actress I don’t click with. I don’t think she’s bad, but something about her portrayal I guess? doesn’t fully click for me. - Abuela knows. She can easily tell something is up. - Eddie to Shannon: “I can forgive you. I’m just not sure I can trust you.” Oof, yeah. - I think so far any time Shannon and Eddie are on screen together, have a scene, there’s always tension. One or the other or both will in some way start an argument to some degree. I have no idea if they ever truly worked as a couple, but it’s clear they’ve really broken down as one over the years, for various reasons. (some vary obvious, and a big thing is that they just don’t seem to communicate or know how to communicate properly) - “Love is not a place, it’s a people.” - Michael. I always liked how Athena and Michael were able to remain friends, and then Michael and Bobby became good friends too. I will say or wonder, while it does seem like May and Harry really like (probably love) Bobby, are they cool with him possibly moving in? Talk to your kids. - Doug (derogatory). 😠 - The ENTIRE scene with Buck and Eddie at the Santa place for Christopher. So so much good stuff there. Eddie clearly wanted his friend, Buck, there with him and Chris. Buck saying how he loves that Chris always wants to try to do things on his own. The elf lady telling Buck, “You two have an adorable kid.” And Buck not denying it (you know what I mean). While Eddie did mess up with the whole army thing, I think especially upping his service a second time. I think a big difference is that Eddie still stayed in contact with Christopher and Shannon. Shannon, however, just left with no other contact. I’m sure it’s only by Eddie talking about Shannon to Chris that Chris had any sense of “contact” with his mom. - Yep, Eddie mainly brought Shannon back for Christopher’s sake. - The proposal was a touch early/soon, but Athena and Bobby work so well together. The proposal itself was so dang cute, too. - Chimney, you’re just amazing. <3

Sex, Intimacy and Buddie (better known as I have a lot of feelings about this show, some of which are related to the before mentioned topics) - Part 5
Hej alla,
hur cool att du är här! Vad kul!
(Kay, that’s it, all the Swedish I remember from two semesters of not really studying, so it’s probably also wrong, uups?)
(Still passed though.)
You guys! We made it! And please, do not imagine this read to you in a happy voice. I am sobbing. I already miss it!
(Also, if you do imagine how I might sound please consider due to several unforseeable circumstances of student exchanges in my youth I have a very weird mixture of British and American English, which basically translates to sounding like either of those doing a bad impression of the other accent - or you know, Australian.)
I’m really having a hard time finishing this meta because I loved doing it so much and I loved talking to all of ya’ll so much. This is a sad moment. (HEY, what if ya’ll came and visited my askbox and I get to discuss random stuff with you!)
Just a fair warning now, somewhere hidden in the middle: this thing is fucking long! We are talking longer than Season 2, so be warned!
Anyways, in case someone is new:
part 1 - part 2 - part 3 - part 4
And some general info:
This meta was supposed to be a lot shorter and only talk about how both Buck and Eddie use sex to distract their respective partners from whatever topic they actually wanted to talk about but since I decided to rewatch the show to make sure I don’t miss any such scenes, it has exploded a bit and taken on more topics
I should also mention that I am a Buddie shipper and while I tried, you will find several references and arguments for the ship in this Meta, not all of which necessarily call for a romantic pairing but just: These two are deeply connected and you cannot look at one without discussing the other and they are each other’s strongest emotional connection.
I should also preface this by saying that the whole of the 118 has some obvious intimacy / commitment issues except Bobby (which is sort of surprising) but *John Mulaney voice* we don’t have time to unpack all of that!
On another note I cuss a little in this Meta because my parents let me listen to TicTacToe as a small child and after that it never stuck that cussing is wrong so, uhm, parental supervision is advised or something
This Meta has FIVE parts. Season 1 and 2 make up one part each, while Season 3, due to something pesky called feelings and the fact that I can’t shut up, has been split in three parts: Part 3 aka Season 3A, which spans 3.01 - 3.10, Part 4 which spans 3.11 - 3.17 and this part which is officially only one episode - but still manages to be just as long. Yay! (Sorry.)
And now for the last time for now: part 5 (also called „You’re a godless, half-witted himbo, Evan Buckley, and I wish I loved you less so I could talk about it more“)
Episode 3.18:
My oh my, this episode.
I loved it but I also … didn’t.
It was way too much and at times felt a little rushed and the pacing was just weird.
I mean I loved the party but did we really need 5 min of it? Did we really need Josh’s storyline and Michael’s so randomly in the middle of the episode? Could we have gotten a longer apology scene? Why the weird phone call?
Let’s talks about all of that! (It’s why you clicked read more, right?)
Ya’ll, I gotta be honest, I am from Europe and I regularly go to places via train and while it’s better than a bus, I can’t see anyone falling in love with that! I am just gonna assume Abby did not go by train in Germany. Or Austria. Or Italy. Listen, I like trains just fine but man, do they not look like what we see here!
But also, as someone who has watched Community, the train lady saying „This isn’t Subway“ in an Episode where the human embodiment of Subway acts is very very funny to me.
I feel like I don’t have to point out how significant the cut from Abby saying „They stopped waiting for me a long time ago“ to Buck and Eddie discussing Chris is. Everyone has talked about it by now. But yes, it registered, as did the fact that Abby is dating a single father - while Buck is apparently basically dating a single father. But, you know, that probably means nothing! *chugs a whole bottle of wine*
The co-parenting was very cute and honestly I feel for Christopher and Carla and the firefam is Buddie does happen because they will try to out-protect each other and it will be glorious and also Chris might never get to leave the nest ever. That poor boy.
Sidenote: We as a fandom have not talked enough about Eddie’s reaction to Bobby yodelling and I think that’s very tragic of us. Because his reaction is the best, all: „Is he - should I - no, you know what, fuck it, Eddie, ignore this, that’s too much, you can not unpack all of this, just move on. Brush it off!“
Just watch his face ya’ll, it’s great! (He will be talking to Frank about this, I know it.)
Sidenote: Also Eddie in 3.15 / 3.15. / 3.17 / 3.18 > any other Eddie, and no, I do not take criticism. That boy has always been fine but the military hair cut or what ever is doing things to me as do his happy eyes and the smiles - my god, the smiles!
It does seem significant though the way the show focused so heavily on Buck’s reaction and - as it had been the case since „Eddie Begins“ - we basically don’t see Eddie without Buck and that’s weird. That feels pointed and important, the fact that after realising, who his family is, Eddie basically never leaves Buck’s side if they are at work.
Also the way Chimney and Bobby look at each other in between, yeah, again, making fun of Christopher’s dads! Like, even if you don’t read this as Buddie, you cannot not read this scene as somewhat confirming the „Buck is Christopher’s other parent“-thing. And I know I answered an ask on Tuesday(?) where I said he wasn’t really but yeah, he is getting there. The whole season spent a lot of time focusing on Buck’s relationship with Christopher and even if it isn’t about Buddie, I still think it will cause trouble in Season 4 if Eddie begins dating again, specifically Chris’ teacher.
I also need to talk about Eddie and control, because like I said in part 4 Eddie needs to learn to let go of Christopher a little which is what we see here happening, specifically through the lens of making Buck even more overprotective than Eddie to really cement the fact in all our minds that Eddie is trying to let his son have some freedom. I am so proud of him, you guys! He just signed up for the worst two weeks of his life, he will be dying on the inside out of concern and Buck will pester him every two seconds about whether or not Chris is fine. This is why these three haven’t been to Disneyland, ya’ll! Eddie wouldn’t be able to handle it without murdering either Buck or himself. I’m sorry.
And speaking of how the episode is cut:
One thing I love about 911 is the way it always makes me consider new character pairings and connections I myself would have never thought of, in the context of this episode: Athena, Josh - and Eddie.
And look, the Athena and Josh thing is daunting enough but you can probably still catch my train of thought, because both are recent victims of assault and the episode shows them dealing with trauma and confronting their attacker, even though in Athena’s case it was just theoretical. But now you’re probably wondering, okay, why Eddie?
Well, for starters, what the episode made me realise, whether on purpose on not through cutting from scene to scene is how many similarities there are between Eddie and Athena, both of them always trying to be in control, both of them more prone to violence / more okay with violence than the others, both soft underneath, both with a tendency to let anger take over, both considered to be extremely capable, both with an intense need for control, both straight talker.
And now I will obviously not pretend that letting your child go to sleep away camp for two weeks is similar too confronting your assailant who beat you up, but still: facing fears and letting go of control vs. finding different ways to regain control is the theme for these three in the episode (or this Season in Eddie’s case) and I like it.
I really like what they did with Athena in general in this episode, because, while I don’t think we will see her as a civilian in Season 4, I am confident they will address her trauma and PTSD - especially if they only do a short time jump of say three months and not jump all the way to January / February which is when it might air if we’re lucky.
And I do think the comparison between her and Josh is very nicely done as both characters did the whole brushing it off / moving forward / I am not fazed by any of it thing, as we as viewers clearly saw what utter bullshit this was.
Which of course connects nicely to Mr. „Brush it off and move on“ who has spent a whole season learning to not just move on but to talk about it. A lesson he might have learned? At least that’s what the episode made me think, from the way he came to Buck / the firefam to talk about Christopher and camp to the way he so clearly tried to get Buck to open up about Abby. Jup, that is some motherforking growth right there!
I also wanna say hi to Brooke Shields and say I hope we see her again, cause her character seemed interesting!
And I do appreciate Athena herself addressing the fact that she messed up a little by not calling for back-up right away. This is not meant in a victim blaming way, I just think Athena is very used to handling everything on her own and not asking for help and it is interesting to see how that changes, now that it has backfired on her once.
And now we are getting into the Abby of it all and if anyone reading this is anti Buddie or severely pro Abby this is the moment to either leave or scroll down some more, because ya’ll I won’t really hold back!
(I think.)
I wanna begin by saying, uhm, Abigail, honey? Can you not read what is written on Eddie’s and everyone else’s helmets? Yes, he is from the 118, it literally says so on like every article of clothing he is wearing, omg!
(Writers, do better, that made an already unlikeable character seem downright stupid.)
Now it is very interesting, that the first person we see Abby interact with directly from the main cast (I’m counting the phone call with Maddie as indirectly) is Eddie who doesn’t know who Abby is but who is close enough to Buck to know the second he sees her who she is. The episode spends just as much time focusing on his reaction to Abby as 3.15 did on Buck’s reaction and tbh that feels … fairly non platonic. Of course we can always go back to „Stuck“ and remember what Hen said about Tatiana but still. That was one scene, here we have several scenes highlighting Eddie’s reaction to Abby and just, what do you want me to do with this, Tim?
I mean, the meeting scene literally goes like this:
Eddie *talking to Abby* > cut to Buck, coming closer > Buck: „Abby?“ > cut to both Abby and *Eddie* > Abby: „Buck?“ while the camera is still on her and Eddie > cut to just Eddie’s face having a realisation > cut to Buck
That is some very extreme focus if we’re being honest.
Also her panic reminds everyone of Buck in 3.15, right? The way she is screaming, disregarding her own safety, all desperate to get to her fiancé. Yeah.
I like how Eddie lets them talk and then steps in when he realises Buck is too shocked and only then rushes off, nearly touching Buck. Too be honest I didn’t realise his hand didn’t make contact until I saw some gifs of the scene.
Also the way Oliver plays this scene? The whole scene is so painful and I love it a lot, his whole delivery is so very painful, from the way he says „We’ll find him.“ to the „Um, what’s his name?“ to the „No. Oh. Don’t worry about it.“ because you can actually see him go through all the emotions from devastation to being so very pissed off and then locking that shit down!
Listen, I know it was teased that Buck had to grapple between being a professional and his personal feelings and I think this episode is him being a professional, because this is Buck and Buck cares so for Buck being a professional means risking his life for some guy on the train, regardless of his promise and who he is engaged to.
Sidenote: This episode really brought home why Eddie is a firefighter and not a paramedic, because his bedside manner is shit. „This is gonna hurt a little“. Way to downplay, dude!
Also, while I do love the idea of Buck getting to be Captain one day, I think this episode shows why he won’t be. Because even when he is being professional and having great ideas Buck still cares too much and is unable to make the hard decisions. Compare it to Eddie, who, yes, does say „If we have to choose“, but also is willing to make the choice. Because sometimes you have to. (And now I’m crying a little and oh my, this is why I do not work in any job that has me make such decisions because I could not imagine living with myself if I did.)
I do think however Buck did good, from the way he talked to Sam being his usual self and all.
I’m also such a fan of smart Buck and him standing up for himself with Bobby because he doesn’t get to do this often enough and because it is important for him as a character to learn to trust his own judgement and not depend so much on Bobby’s approval. So yay, my baby is growing up!
(Also, obviously Bobby’s worry was also about Buck and not just Athena, we’ve had half a season of Bobby doing the most to „protect“ Buck, mostly against his will, so I really like that Buck got to do the rescue his way in the end, because it shows growth on both sides.)
Now, Eddie and his dramatic reaction in this scene, first of all:
I wanna take a moment to remember the fact that Edmundo Diaz, my main man, my love, my absolute ray of grey sunshine, apparently lacks any kind of self-awareness - or he would stop acting all high and mighty around Buck because the second Buck is out of view he like, drops any pre-tense of having critical thinking skills or something akin to self-preservation and does the next thing that enters his bird brain no matter the consequences. So a moment of silence for Hen, Chimney and Bobby and all they had to go through in the 6/7 months between Buck getting crushed by a ladder truck and coming back to work, because Buck? They can at least make fun of. Or tell him: yo, bro, you being stupid!
You can’t do that with Eddie - because when Eddie does stupid he gone nearly die but like in a heroic way where he still ends up saving himself and you have to be impressed. Urgh, the nerve!
So, you know what, how about, Mr. Edmundo Diaz, you do not judge Buck for wanting to save people and risk his own life UNTIL WE HAVE FORGOTTEN ABOUT YOU CUTTING THAT MOTHERFORKING ROPE? Got me? Thanks. (I’m not mad, I’m just disappointed, dude.)
(But then again EVERY MOTHERFORKING CHARACTER ON THIS DAMN SHOW SUFFERS FROM CRAZY STUPID DISEASE and no, I do not take any criticism.)
Also I loved Eddie’s dialog and how clearly the whole thing about the promise slipped out if the way his hands closed are anything to go by (or was he imagining punching some sense either into himself or Buck because in both cases: Call Frank, Eddie!). Anyway the way he just left, like, „I can not deal with ya’ll’s stupidity, I am leaving!“ has me shook! That is the top tear entertainment I expect from my favourite show and I love them for it!
I do love how both Buck and Eddie are in protector mode in this episode, Buck with Sam and Abby and Eddie with Buck, especially because if we’re being honest, which we are (this is a safe space ya’ll), Eddie is the one being far more unprofessional! For his standards, of course.
But this is the closest Eddie has come to showing some form of violence since 3a viewed chronologically (because 3.15 happened mostly in the past) yet Buck is just being is usual too caring self. It’s telling and it’s interesting and I’m just gonna say one thing:
„No one is good when it’s personal.“ - because for Buck with Sam it isn’t really personal (though that won’t hit him until later) but for Eddie it kinda is because he is worried about Buck. (And now I did spell it out! But, oh well, I did say we were gonna do some Buddie right around here!)
Sidenote: what exactly was the meaning / reason of that phone call between Abby and her stepdaughter? We already knew Sam had children and from the was she was looking outside they could have had her just see Buck and step out of the tent to watch the rescue, so why do it this way I ask? Why this incredibly unnecessary phone call that felt so very awkward?
Also I am not gonna talk about that scene right now, because I get mad every single time!
So I will just leave a link to what I’ve said about this scene so far here *and* give you the notes I took on this scene:
ALWAYS READY TO DIE
godless heathen of a man he makes me so angry i hate him i hate this show I wanna leave
EVAN BUCKLEY LOOKS GOD IN THE EYES AND SAYS NAH BRO NOT TODAY
(It’s not like his suicidal tendencies are relevant to this meta anyways because like I said a few paragraphs ago: The whole firefam has them! )
Also, for the first time ever: here is a picture I took while watching the show because what are these two extras doing? Why are they touching like that? Who are they and will we see them again? Does my brain get easily distracted by completely unrelated things?
Anyways, the way Buck answers Sam „She’s down there waiting for you.“ when he asks for Abby and his „Good to meet you Sam.“ really brings home how none of his behaviour was about Abby and all about Buck being Buck. (And now I am angry at him again, urgh, THE NERVE! Selfless fucking himbo!)
I really liked that Sam knew who Buck was and that they got to have this little interaction where he probably reevaluated the whole night because that boy just risked his life for him, the guy marrying his ex-girlfriend, and has spent the whole night being so very nice to him and talking to him. Not gonna lie, Buck is a good guy through and through and Sam probably feels like shit now.
Also Eddie coming to stand in front of Buck - I know some people think it was out of protectiveness, which got me thinking:
Tbh at first I was convinced it was a camera angle thing? Because if Eddie stood behind Buck we wouldn’t really see him. Then I thought, so why choose this angle to film it? Obviously the set had to be built a certain way so was there no other way to do it? Also why was it even important, that we saw Eddie arrive like that, couldn’t they have just changed the angle after Abby was gone to get Eddie in the frame? Why was it important that we knew that Eddie was there and 1) was putting himself physically between Abby and Buck meaning 2) that when Abby leaves with her single father, Buck is left with his single father? Why does an episode that is supposed to give Buck closure focus so much on the reactions of his non romantic partner?
(Because tbh, even if they needed to find ways to use Ryan Guzman in this Episode without adding too many scenes, they could have done it with less focus on Abby. I say this as a Buddie shipper who does recognise how important the connection Buck and Eddie have as friends is: storyline wise Bobby would have made more sense in most of these scenes and Eddie could have been used in a different way.)
I’ll leave this scene with the very nice visual of Buck running back to the traincrash and Eddie following him. These two. Like magnets.
And a quick topic change, because I do wanna talk about Michael and Doctor Hale as well in this meta, one because I found them very cute and two because I’ve now talked to a few people about Ana and Eddie and while we by now know she will probably be in Season 4, I feel like we need to compare Michael and Doctor Hale vs Eddie and Ana. Because there is such a difference in the way these love interests where introduced.
Now, of course we need to realise that Eddie and Michael are fairly different characters and Michael has way less relationship related baggage than Eddie has which is why he goes after what he wants way faster (also, carpe diem, he just found out he won’t die). Also of course, there is no moral component to address in Michael dating some doctor vs. Eddie dating his son’s teacher, but still:
Michael and Dr. Hale had one scene together and it wasn’t even overly flirty and yet, we knew where it was heading, we felt the chemistry and everyone ended the episode saying: I ship it, more of that - which they did give us, just *one* episode later. They had some awkward moments, yet the show never left a single doubt in your mind where this is heading.
Now look at Eddie and Ana:
Sidenote: I do wanna say be kind to the character and no hate, especially not to the actress! Yes, she needs to be flashed out more; no, what we saw so far does not make me ship them; no, I do not mind if they dated a little.
First of all we learned more about Doctor Hale in the two short scenes than we did about Ana in four scenes. That seems deliberate.
Second, while we do realise Eddie thinks Ana is attractive from the get go she repeatedly shuts him down by pointedly saying „Mr. Diaz“.
Third, every scene between them - and I mean every single scene - is connected to Buck in some way:
In „Fools“ we cut from Buck saying he likes being single to Eddie doing parent-teacher conference and yes, meeting some other teachers first but also Ana, showing us that while Buck is fine with being single - Eddie might not be. Also, Carla’s „blue eyes“ line which is a little clown-y, so take it with a grain of salt that it could connect us to Buck
Then of course her next scene is Eddie getting in her face about Christopher being hurt. Later in the episode we see Buck reference this on a call, meaning either Carla or Eddie told Buck about it (I am leaning a little toward Carla making fun of Eddie in front of Buck and Eddie then having to come clean about all of it, because I cannot wrap my head about the idea of Eddie telling Buck about having a crush, I’m sorry.)
Her next scene is Eddie coming to apologise to her and she gives her speech about limitations - which we can of course connect to Buck and Eddie talking about Christopher and his limitations before that and then afterwards going skateboarding with them. (It does feel a little deliberate.)
And then of course we have „Eddie Begins“ and you guys, they could have very very easily have either Carla or Buck make a joke about Mrs. Flores and Eddie’s crush in the firehouse scene, but they didn’t! And then we do get to see her at the end where she has one whole line and Eddie barely looks at her and you know what happens? They have a child ask the same question Buck asked at the beginning, making us think of Buck. Like, it would have been enough to establish Eddie doesn’t feel like a hero if the question was asked only once - twice in the span of 45 minutes constitutes a callback, meaning we are supposed to think of the other scene and that means thinking about the other person that asked, which was Buck
And yes, once Season 4 premieres and we get Eddie and Ana in this epic romance because Tim Minear wants to be the next Rick Berman, I will go back to this meta and beat my own ass. Or something.
(Listen, her returning in Season 4 does not mean endgame or the end of Buddie, it just means Eddie might get a love interest. Tbh I actually think it could get us closer to Buddie and you know what, I’m just gonna link all my Ana Flores posts here here and here now so you can read all the other stuff I, alongside some other people, said on this topic, if you’re interested because none of this has a point right now.)
Now, let’s get into the meat of things and talk about *that* scene:
Was it a good apology? No.
Did Buck deserve better? Fuck yes.
Did he get closure? Yes.
Is the way that scene was done actually perfect? I mean, ya’ll, yes? A little?
Listen, this scene was always about closure and that’s what Buck got here and that’s what Buck needed.
Buck, who in Season 1 had described Abby as the perfect woman, needed it to go down like this so he could realise she wasn’t and he could finally let her go. And that’s what it was about!
Obviously looking at Abby’s character this episode does not make her look good, like not at all and I’d be very surprised if we ever saw her again. But looking at it from Buck’s point of view it was exactly what he needed. (Not what he deserved, but yeah, if this show was about what Buck deserved it would be a whole lot different and Buddie would be canon by now.)
One thing I really loved about the scene was the way it was filmed, with LA in front of us, Abby and Buck with their backs to the camera and us only ever seeing them in profile, because it was a private moment and this sort of made you feel like you were intruding. Like you were listening in on a conversation and I liked that a lot.
Also I think her speech about losing herself through helping people is very interesting because it contrasts her to Buck. Buck found himself in helping others and lost himself when he was no longer allowed to do that and I think that is what she means when she says she would have lost herself with him again. Because Buck is selfless and he is so selfless he inspires others to be the same, except Abby isn’t but being with Buck she would need to be and that is a problem.
Look, if you’ve followed this blog at all or maybe just read part one of the meta you have probably guessed by now that I don’t like Abby. I found her character boring. I thought she overstepped all the time. I got so mad at her for the way she treated Buck in Season 1!
Because in 1.06 she *actually* complains about him being too thoughtful and scared of messing up while calling him a *toy boy*. The truth is, after 1.05 and their first meeting, Abby no longer takes him seriously. She hardly ever takes his feelings into consideration. The relationship, from Valentines Day onward becomes all about what she wants and what she needs and our Buck is the selfless idiot who gives her his all.
I mean, she never even talked to Buck about wanting to leave, just presented him with her decision and then lived her life and never thought about him again.
And like, I think she is wrong if she thinks she’d have lost herself with him again, because Buck was what showed her that she lost herself in the first place. He helped her on the path of self-aquaintance (I guess? I’m lacking the word here), but she is right if she means the relationship wouldn’t have worked.
Because one of them would have lost themselves, though I do think it would have been Buck and not Abby. After all, Buck was the one who gave everything up from the get go and yes, Abby helped trigger him finding himself alongside Bobby and the job and she did help him stay on that path in the beginning - but in the end it was never about her at all. It was about him and him alone and the amazing person he had always been.
And I think that is what Buck realises in the scene. Despite Abby ghosting him, he still looked at her through rose coloured glasses and with fondness, but here, he realises, oh, Abby isn’t perfect. Abby isn’t like the woman I made her out to be. Abby never really cared about me. And as much as that probably hurt, this is what Buck needed to let go of her!
He needed to see that Abby wasn’t the perfect woman so he could let her go - and find himself the perfect person, someone who reciprocates and doesn’t just take. (Am I crying?)
(And look, I am not saying he already found someone like that, someone who proved in this episode how much they care about Buck and his feelings and making sure he comes home every night to his family - I’m saying he found someone who is working on being that person!)
Let’s talk about Eddie and Abby for a second, again, okay?
(Bro, how did I just get to that topic? So random! *laughs in Buddie*)
When I watched the episode my second time to take notes, I wrote one that said ‚Abby and Eddie parallels / lawsuit‘ - and I gotta be honest I barely remember what I meant. But I did still produce some thoughts (just not sure if that was where I was going with the note, so if anyone has some other ideas, please share):
You know how Abby talks about losing herself when she is with Buck? Well, I know someone who lost themselves just this season because he wasn’t with Buck! (Jup, we’re back with the lawsuit, ya’ll really thought I wouldn’t bring this up? You guys! More than 20000 words and you still don’t know me!)
It’s a very nice parallel to have Abby talking about losing herself with Buck when we saw Eddie losing himself without Buck. Because while I think Eddie himself is a selfless person just like Buck, similar to how Buck needed Abby in Season 1 as a catalyst of change so to speak, Buck was the catalyst of change for Eddie.
I talked a lot in the other parts about Eddie having problems with voicing his needs and feelings - and now please once again look at his relationship with Buck. Because here he has been doing this, not from the get go of course, Eddie didn’t take one look at Buck and his whole life was turned upside down (that was Buck looking at Eddie), but I think Buck steamrolling through Eddie’s life helped Eddie find himself. Buck, from the get go, is a calm centre for Eddie, an anchor, even after he reconnects with Shannon. Buck is who he turns to in a crisis, who he trusts with his son, with having his back.
And I think in both cases - Abby and Buck as well as Eddie and Buck - the relationship is brought to the next level through Buck’s selflessness and willingness to help. But while Abby just takes it and doesn’t really see it as the gift it is and never fully lets Buck in, Eddie does the opposite. Eddie, whether knowing or unknowing, makes himself exactly what Buck needs: someone who puts trust in him, who treats him like an equal, who opens his home and his family to him. And he also tries (and this is a big thing considering who we’re talking about right now) to be there for Buck, to be his anchor just like Buck is his - which obviously works with mixed results, because one person, no matter how hard they try can never fix the problems of someone else alone. Believe me. I’ve tried.
And wow, did that get deep and fast! Damn ya’ll and I haven’t had a drop of alcohol in like 5 days. This show really gives me all the feels!
Now, to keep me and maybe ya’ll from crying I’m gonna change the subject and talk about something else, also known as the rest of the episode:
To go back to the start of the episode, Buddie really had some extreme couple / family vibes going on, especially with Christopher in the mix. It’s telling that they included a scene of Buck and Christopher specifically and it was to remind us once again that these two have a strong bond.
I won’t go all: Buddie confirmed, this is were we are heading, ya’ll! Because as you must have realised by now I am fairly cautious when it comes to this and am always fighting to keep my own clownery at bay, but I do have to say so far nothing in this show and Season 3B specifically has read as a red flag for me, disapproving the possibility or making me feel queerbaited. Now, maybe I am just very off in my intuition and they will change gear in Season 4, but well, right now I have some hope!
I also loved the scene of Christopher going to camp and the card which reminded me of 3.01 and also, Eddie looks so good here! And he came so far, letting his son go to camp and all!
Of course I would have loved to see Buck there as well, but one, that would have been a Buddie confirmed and we’re not quite there yet and I’m glad cause right now they aren’t fully ready (in show terms, fanfiction is something different), and two this proves what I said about Buck and Christopher being connected and him having parental / fatherly feelings toward the boy but like, not being his actual father yet! Buck loves Chris and Chris loves Buck and obviously he is part of the Diaz family - but he also isn’t.
(Also: I went to something like camp when I was 11 and you think both my parents brought me? Nah, son, they didn’t. My dad brought me while my mom made breakfast.)
Now, some sidenotes to round it all off:
Karen is a gift and I really hope we see more of her because omg, I wanna be her friend, I wanna be her wife, I wanna learn about life from her! She is awesome and I will never fully forgive Hen for cheating on her, like girly, Eva isn’t even close to Karen on any level?
And speaking of Hen, I love the subplot of Chim coming to terms with her potentially leaving and deciding to help her because he was who she really needed on her side - not anyone else. I’d write a meta on their relationship but tbh it’s so consistent and unproblematic, I really don’t know what to write except: goals about 10000 times. Which isn’t that different to me finding new ways to write THE CONNECTION, if we’re being honest but oh well! Now it’s too late to stop that!
I loved Athena getting spooked by Bobby showing up behind her when she was getting a drink - talk about this show finally addressing the trauma these characters go through! And it only took, oh well, about 35 episodes. Let’s hope that is the energy they bring into Season 4.
Now the apology scene with Bobby, I do hate how Buck is once again the one apologising and especially since it’s with Bobby but I do think it was a nice scene and a great callback to 3.01. Also this episode showed a lot of growth in Bobby and Buck’s relationship. Because after 3a was all about Bobby projecting onto Buck and making decisions for him based on what he thought was the right thing, this episode not only had Buck standing up to Bobby in a healthy and adult way (no lawsuit this time!) but also Bobby giving in and letting Buck make the decision even if he disagreed. That is some motherforking growth right here and Babe, I hope you are not to disappointed with me, but if they keep Bobby like this I might actually begin to see his appeal to people (still need him to suffer the consequences of his actions, though).
But to end on a great note:
Buck is doing okay and - most importantly - MADNEY BABY!!! You guys, we knew it was coming from the promos and all but I cried! I cried so hard! I am so happy for them! These two soft characters and their amazing, open, caring, trusting, adult relationship deserves all the luck in their fictional universe!
Whew, you guys! We’ve done it! And it’s longer than Season 2 (I’m sorry, are ya’ll surprised? This episode was a lot!)
I feel like I should write some form of conclusion to this whole meta and yet my words elude me. Here are the few I have for you though:
This meta began with the idea that neither Buck nor Eddie really knew how to be emotionally intimate with a person and instead used sex as a substitute. This is no longer true for either character.
Buck has learned through his relationship with Abby, that he can be both physically and emotionally intimate with a person and he has proven how this is still true in his reaction to Taylor and his relationship with Ali, what little we saw of it. Furthermore Season 3B specifically showed that Buck, while still afraid to open up to people, is trying. I do think Season 4 is heading toward some kind of romance for him and while I am praying to several deities I do not believe in and the universe itself that it is Eddie, I am not sure. I hope so. But never the less, my shipping aside, Buck has grown tremendously in the course of 3 Seasons and I am so impressed both with his character and the way the show has so realistically done it. I love him. Even more than Buddie I hope we get to see him truly happy in Season 4, happy and settled and learning what life actually holds for him because that kid could rule the world if he wanted to.
Now, Eddie: It’s funny, when I began this meta I felt more connected to Buck, I didn’t really see myself in Eddie, I barely had a grasp on his character at times. Now? Now he is my favourite, I love his greyness, his goodness despite his faults, the way he always struggles with himself to do better, to be better because it doesn’t come naturally to him, because it has been taught to him to do the opposite. And that is so impressive. I love the growth we saw in him, the evolution, the fight to be a better man than his own role-models and I love especially how all of this was motivated by and for his son. He truly loves him more than life itself and I am so impressed with 911 subverting something that feels like a very female storyline by giving it to a man.
But of course Eddie isn’t done yet and Eddie still struggles with intimacy and opening up but he is getting there. Through Frank and Buck and for Christopher he is fighting and he is getting there and I love that for him and about him! He deserves to be happy in Season 4 just like Buck, but mostly he deserves to be at peace with himself!
And I already talked at length about Ana and their potential and linked what I thought didn’t fit in here, so I will not bore you by repeating myself and just say: wait. Wait and see. Maybe the show will surprise us. Maybe it won’t. Maybe corona will kill us all before we have a chance to see Season 4. Maybe we are in the Matrix and the blue pill is a metaphor for being trans. Life is strange!
Also on a more personal note I wanna say thank you to everyone who has read and liked and reblogged and commented. I love all of you. Your support and trust in what I am saying has meant a lot and will mean just as much in the future and I do hope I get to do this again in like a year once they return!
(Also, not to sound needy but another reminder to please reblog and comment? Because I *am* actually writing this because I really wanna talk about the show and my feelings and your thoughts and you know, that can only happen if ya’ll do some reblogging)
(Or come to my ask if you are more comfortable being even more anonymous, I don’t judge - I NEVER ask question any other way!)
In diesem Sinne: hamma wieder was gelernt, recht herzlichen Dank für Ihre Aufmerksamkeit und auf Wiedersehen!

Intermission: The Demon In Detail
You think a great way to enhance your experience in watching anything supernatural related is to have an actual demon beside you but.... that’s just your opinion.
guardian demon! Jimin x reader
word count: 2.6k
genre: fluff, romance, supernatural, slow-burn, comedy
Related Works: see Masterlist under guardian demon!Jimin
A/N: An intermission! Can you guess what I’ve gotten myself into recently? LOL I thought it’d be cute to have something like this happen since once we get the ball rolling...not so many cute moments later on 🤐🤐🤐 (and the next chapter I have a feeling is going to be CHUNKY so...a little treat for you before that ;)) So anybody who hasn’t watched Good Omens yet but were planning to, some spoilers in that chapter! And as such, I don’t own anything related to Good Omens the show or the characters involved. Otherwise, enjoy!
“I thought you were supposed to be napping?”
Your gaze only shifts marginally away from your laptop screen to the sound of your sudden guest before flitting back.
“I was gonna just watch one episode….” You mumble petulantly but it was the honest truth. You really were planning on watching one episode of this series you picked up as a way to get you started and use it to give you that final push to knock out from being so tired.
Clearly that’s not gonna happen anymore.
Jimin gives a shake of his head, a little exasperated from your antics, not really annoyed but he does have to wonder; why are you lying on your bed like that? From his place by your doorway, all he sees is a mound of blanket that had been wrapped up into a lump with no doubt you underneath it. You’re using the giant plush calico cat shaped like a bean as a pillow, the one he got you on a whim one day and he hasn’t seen you without it since. He thinks its cute but there’s an actual, perfectly good pillow that you could use just laying not even two feet away, in fact, there’s plenty of room for you to be laying comfortably in and yet for some reason —
You’re curled into a ball, at the very end of your bed, your desk chair facing you, laptop propped onto the seat.
It’s like you MacGyver-ed your way into making things a lot more difficult for you.
You feel your mattress dip, causing you to shift with a grunt, pausing the episode so that you don’t miss out on anything as you turn your attention fully to your supernatural guardian. He’s taken a seat beside your head, one muscular thigh resting temptingly close to you. You bury your cheeks further into the plushness of your stuffed animal in hopes of hiding a creeping blush and smother the urge to jump ship with your pillow for something better.
“What are you watching that’s so interesting you forget the need to sleep?” Jimin asks, dark eyes staring inquisitively at the paused screen which has David Tennant and Michael Sheen bickering about what to do once they find the antichrist.
“It’s called ‘Good Omens’ — it’s about a demon and an angel who’s trying to prevent the apocalypse from happening when the antichrist, who’s a kid, realizes his true powers.”
You miss the way Jimin blinks, brows furrowing and absolutely flabbergasted at you when you push play again to continue the episode. He cocks his head from left to right like a puzzled puppy before he’s able to finally let the synopsis settle.
“I’m sorry what now?”
“So there’s a demon named Crowley, right? He’s the one in black there and an angel named Aziraphale who’s the one in white and they’ve somehow became really good friends throughout the years so they’ve like — oh you know what,” You pause, getting distracted yourself and not being able to re-explain the plot up until now while also taking in new developments. “Just rewatch the last two episodes, the series is only like six episodes long anyways.”
Jimin goes to complain, thinking how utterly ridiculous it would be from your paraphrased explanation alone but you’re already clicking back to the first episode. He clamps his mouth shut, purse his lips and exhales a quiet sigh through his nose, leaning back to might as well get comfortable. He’ll never quite understand a human’s obsession with his kind and angels to the point where they’ll come up with a million different ways to interpret their image — from monstrous looking creatures (on both sides) to simply more human-like supernatural entities, he thinks he’s seen them all over the years.
Oh whatever, he thinks, it’ll just be one episode and that way, he can at least say he didn’t give it a shot.
-
Four episodes later, you’ve somehow managed to sprawl out over each other, both equally as invested in the show. You had to hide your smile every time you glance over at Jimin who, every so often, tilts his head and then either snorts or hums noncommittally at the show’s interpretations. It also piques your curiousity on what Jimin finds approving or disapproving so whenever that happens, you usually ask him a question, even if you do sound like a two-year old discovering the world for the first time.
“So are there really four horsemen of the apocalypse?”
“There are…. Or were. They’re like Greek Titans now…. It’ll take a lot to summon them all at once.”
“Like the anti-Christ?”
“I can probably assure you that Satan won’t be having a son any time soon.” Jimin replies and as an afterthought, his nose wrinkles. It’s weird to imagine one of your bosses having a kid, let alone imagine him to be the father type.
“…Huh.” You leave it at that, flopping your head back to rest against the mounds of pillows. Halfway through episode three, Jimin started to scold you in the way you’re laying on your bed and took it upon himself to actually drag you to the head of the bed so he can prop you on the pillows. Well…For the most part you were resting on the pillows behind you but with Jimin’s arm thrown out in the mix, you find at times you’re lying on the pillows and using Jimin’s arm as one too.
The stranger thing is that he hasn’t said anything about it.
“Have you ever met Beelzebub before? Are they like the ‘celebrities’ of demons?”
“They work in a different office division than mine, so I never see them — heard they’re not that great though.”
“Office division?” You laugh, tilting your head to shoot him an incredulous look. “So Hell runs like a corporation?”
“Where do you think concepts like capitalism come from?”
You let out another boisterous laugh, head flinging back and knocking lightly against his forearm. “Well, damn…”
His own lips curl into a smile at the sound.
It’s late into the evening by the time you get to the last episode where Crowley and Aziraphale help Adam have the confidence to tell Satan that he’s not his dad (always wanna hear something, ugly ass fucking…). You were very taken aback by the scene when it happened, finally seeing Satan for the first time, the big reveal but you found yourself more interested and far more amused by Jimin who had bursted out laughing so hard he was squeaking and creasing over himself. It then goes on to Adam restoring the world but then Aziraphale and Crowley get captured to be punished for treason.
“Is there such thing as ‘The Great Plan?’”
You vaguely feel Jimin’s fingers idly twirl and comb through strands of your hair as he thinks. Normally you’d feel embarrassed and shy away but the sensation is so nice and relaxing that you’re practically melting into his side. Plus, you’re very warm and cozy next to him.
“No, not that I’m aware of. I think angels already have too much of a superiority complex to instigate a war on Earth just to prove that they’re better than demons.”
“Well, that’s reassuring to hear I guess…”
You hear him chuckle breathily. “If it does happen though, I’ll save you…I guess.”
You scoff playfully, “Oh don’t worry, you won’t be able to get rid of me even if you tried.”
“And strangely, I don’t doubt that.”
It makes you smile smugly. The scene plays out in front of you as Crowley, disguised as Aziraphale and vice versa, gets their appropriate sentences (death by hell fire and death by holy water bath tub) but come away unscathed thanks to their switched disguises. You’ve long since learned holy water does in fact, harm demons the way its portrayed in the show (at least common demons, Jimin had explained killing someone like Satan with holy water would probably require a whole tank full and a soak for seven days) as well as other confirmed myths, like how demons and angels are actually supposed to look like.
“Demons and angels both have the ability to take on any sort of appearance they wish, as proven.” He cups one hand against his cheek and bats his eyelashes at you. You shake your head with a roll of your eyes but point taken.
“But how do they really look like? No glamour or anything.”
Jimin pauses, face slipping into a sort of rueful pensive look before he says, “Not pretty, I’ll tell you that. Demons are creatures deprived of the light, so they lurk in the dark, twisted by their very nature and obsession to corrupt. Only those who are foolish or wish to die would stand in the true face of one.”
You blink, taking in his words completely entranced even though he’s explaining something that should be terrifying and sounds a lot like a warning. Well, you suppose it would’ve worked if you didn’t already have your fair share of encounters (and would also help if you weren’t currently snuggled up against one). Besides that, you could’ve also sworn that you had seen Jimin in his ‘true’ form before, right when you first met him in fact. But then again… You pause, correcting yourself by recalling back the memory — he had been shrouded in shadow so the most you had seen of him were his striking, glowing red eyes.
So in conclusion, you hadn’t seen his true form.
Your lips purse; call it morbid curiosity but you’re a little disappointed. You’re pulled from your thoughts by a tap on your nose.
“Don’t get any funny ideas.” Jimin reprimands and though it sounds lighthearted enough, you hear the underlying seriousness of it.
“I wasn’t.” You say defensively, but then add, “What about angels? Do they fit the stereotypical halo and wings image?”
Your guardian smiles but it comes off more like a grimace and simply says, “I think you’re better off not knowing.”
Well that doesn’t sound ominous at all.
You voice as much however Jimin never goes into further detail than that. You begrudgingly drop the topic.
The episode closes with Aziraphale and Crowley changing back to their original selves and going on a lunch date. You let the credits roll, too comfortable to move otherwise. Jimin doesn’t bother moving either, that or maybe it’s the fact that you have his arm trapped underneath your head.
“How’d you find the series?” You ask, turning slightly to Jimin.
You see him shrug, angling his face towards you as he says, “It was…interesting; got a few things right surprisingly. But an angel being friends with a demon….” He shakes his head, “Yeah, that will never happen.”
“Hey now, I’m sure not all angels are assholes…” You argue, “Just like how not all demons are either…”
“Oh? And how are you so sure of that?”
“Well, I’ve met you and Jungkook and you’re both not that bad.”
Jimin hums, a low sound that vibrates from his chest and you barely register the flex of his arm beneath you before you’re hauled up from your spot. A squeak escapes past your lips as you’re suddenly chest to chest with Jimin, face mere inches from each other and those gleaming red ruby eyes staring straight back at you.
“Such sweet words, but I’m afraid that’s how you get killed my cherub — if not by them,” His voice drops until it’s nothing but a husky whisper when he says, “then by me.”
You think you stop breathing for a second, so caught off guard from how close you are to this unnecessarily gorgeous demon. His warm breath tickles your cheeks and you can practically count each long lashes over those mesmerizing eyes, and how full those pretty pink lips are….
You swallow nervously, only hoping that he wouldn’t notice but who were you kidding, being this close to him — if that doesn’t give you away then no doubt the rapid beating of your heart would’ve. You turn away, no longer able to withstand eye contact lest you want to end up drowning in those crimson depths and in a last ditch effort to distract him by any means, you mumble weakly, “D-Don’t be a such Crowley….”
Jimin blinks, confused. You think he’s going to laugh at you until his brows furrows, completely displeased. “I’m not a Crowley… at all.”
“Yes, you are.” You shoot back, grinning at the way he pouts. He scoffs, rolling you off of him in disgust and you laugh as you go, plopping back onto the bed.
“Be grateful I don’t have big creepy snake eyes. I could if I wanted to you know, but that would completely ruin my aesthetics.” Jimin argues, arms crossed.
“…What about wings?” You ask, blinking owlishly to meet Jimin’s eyes which had faded back to a warm brown. When he quirks an eyebrow at you, you elaborate. “You never really told me if demons have wings like in the show. Or if it’s even possible.”
His mouth opens as if to respond to you but then after a brief thought, he stops himself. You don’t mean anything by asking, simply curious is all but the way Jimin looks off, deep in contemplation has you a bit concerned. Just when the thought to break the sudden tension crosses your mind, Jimin exhales through his nose.
“To be honest, I don’t really know the answer to that one cherub. Maybe we did or maybe not at all — demons were once angels after all, or so I was told.”
You think he sounded a bit wistful near the end, the quiet sombreness of his tone tugging at your heart strings. However, Jimin doesn’t let you linger on it as he abruptly gets up, stretching his arms over his head and letting out a loud, exaggerated groan, effectively erasing any traces of it. “Anyways, I’m off. Your roommate should be home soon so I’ll see you whenever.”
Jimin turns to walk out of your room but you’re overcome with the urge to ease whatever emotion you unintentionally triggered for him. So you find yourself blurting out, “Well whether you did or not, I think wings would’ve looked p-pretty cool on you regardless…”
Your face feels like it may as well be on fire as you tense in trepidation, seeing Jimin halt in his steps. You can’t tell what his reaction is with his back turned towards you, so you wait, teeth chewing on your bottom lip and your calico plushie clenched in your hands like a stress ball. Then, you see him tilt his head, throwing you a look over his shoulder and that infamous smirk tugging at the corner of his lips.
“Well, obviously that’s a given.”
The breath you’d been holding wheezes out in a silent laugh. You shake your head and watch Jimin disappear, obviously very pleased with himself if the swagger in his step is anything to go by.
He might deny that he’s anything like Crowley, but to you, Jimin is more like the fictional demon than he realizes. Perhaps that was why he was your favourite character in the series. However when it comes down to it, you'd choose Jimin over Crowley being your guardian demon any day.
With or without wings.

I wasn’t all that fond of 15x10 while I watched it yesterday. I loved the premise and Garth, but I think it was just a bit too over the top for me. The placement of this episode within the greater context of it being the final episode and following the rather gloomy previous episode just made it feel a bit off. That aside, I just didn’t enjoy watching it all that much even though I could appreciate what we were given.
But I’m giving it another rewatch and another chance! I’d love to hear your thoughts too, whether you agree or disagree with my reactions. :D
It takes hardly any time for us to notice something completely amiss and they don’t even hide it: a classical piece of music accompanying a bloody fight between two monsters. Everyone is going to notice that this isn’t quite right, which then guides over into the next thought: the editing makes or breaks a scene. I think that’s the overall theme I took away from this episode. Metatron said that God posted the first draft and we’ve seen both Becky and Metatron edit God’s writing. The first conclusion we could draw is that God is not “editing” Sam and Dean’s story. But actually that doesn’t make a lot of sense because he couldn’t see Sam and Dean before either and they were fine. It’s maybe that he over-edits it. He throws problems in their ways that are... well, kind of what Becky wanted; the everday issues. Them dealing with laundry all day. This is the stuff we write, ad absurdum. And with monsters.
So the theory I’m going with right now is that Chuck is editing, just differently than before.
One preliminary thought regarding Garth: Were there no consequences to the Grace he had swallowed during AU Michael’s weird monster plan? What happened to that monster plan in general? Michael seems to be very bad at stragegizing.......
Dean’ shopping: The shop is called Berens’ quick trip. Berens is always sending us on a trip, though I think this one was Dabb’s fever dream. *lol* Lots of music for what is basically just showing Dean shopping. We see the guy giving Dean a ticket through the window but Dean’s oblivious, too focused on shopping. (Two six packs of beer. This might either show Dean indulging or Dean stocking up for Cas, not that Cas wants beer usually.)
Dean knows the store attendant by name, so I guess this is a place he goes to often, though I doubt it’s in Lebanon because of the high rises in the background?
What did Dean buy? Some beer, a magazine, some chips, something sweet he’s eating... How did that amount to over 40$? Why did he go buy that? Why not go to a proper store and buy proper food? Just beer and snacks? As someone who has to do her own shopping now this seems inefficient. (And my shopping center is in 5 minutes walking distance. *lol*) Also, I think I’ve seen people mention that the magazine is a cooking or baking magazine?
Also, here’s the first instance we have of Dean’s teeth hurting. Just stop eating the chocolate you silly man.
I have no compassion for Dean whining about getting a ticket. He’s not allowed to park there. Rules apply for you too, Mr. Winchester. I don’t like people who think they can do what they want. *thinks back to young snobby looking BMW driver who parked in the middle of a square in front of a bank and who got a ticket* *Schadenfreude* (That’s the kind of person I am. I like people who think rules don’t apply for them to be punished by the law.)
Sam’s scene in the kitchen: I assume it was Dean who had started cooking and then just walked away to get some more shopping done. This is merely based on my assumption that Sam doesn’t cook. We know that Sam sometimes does kinda stupid things like blowing on paper to make the fire go out... Touching things straight out of the oven and putting his hands on a hot pot are pretty thoughtless. And he’s clumsy apparently.
Also why the heck would he pull the pot from the stove? It wasn’t even boiling over. Just lower the temperature. Have you never been in a kitchen before, dude? And you’re not even cleaning up after yourself?
Dean and Sam discussing their issues: So Sam never trips? Both noticed right away that this was weird. Sam looks so offended. Like “I’m Sam Fucking Winchester, I don’t trip!”?
Also, did Sam say “dinner”? Is it already evening and they’ve just been hit with “normal person-itis” now? I see Sam’s watch but I can’t decipher it right. It it 5:35? What time of the year is it in canon? I was still light outside when Dean was shopping.
In the car on the way to Garth: A look, it’s dark now, which suppors the “they just randomly got hit with normal people problems. The music for this scene is also unusual.
I’m annoyed that Cas is in heaven. Why. Why is he up there? Why does SPN always stash Cas out of the way with random stuff? It would have been nice if there had been a phone call or something with Cas checking in or just a mention that Dean was driving back from dropping Cas off at the angel gate or whatever. It takes so little, makes such an impact for me. This? Sorry. It’s just not enough for me.
Why is the car giving up the ghost? Especially in such a weird way? Isn’t Dean constantly working on the Impala? This is not normal people problems either.
At Garth’s: So Sam and Dean walked like 16km? Couldn’t they have taken public transport OR a taxi like normal people...? Or call road assistance or Garth at least? I don’t know what it’s like in the US but that seems a bit extra, even for Sam and Dean.
Garth and Bess have an old style phone in their house, which is a random remark but it’s a nice deco object.
Garth’s Twins: I don’t quite understand why Garth calls the twins Sam and Castiel. What kind of connection does Garth have to Cas? Why not Sam and Dean? If only one of the brothers, why Sam? He has more of a connection to Dean after all? I don’t get it. Dabb just liking it when people prefer Sam and Dean has to roll his eyes at it? :/
Again with the weird, out of place music when they have a look at Bess’ cousin.
Dean and Garth: The dramatic music when Dean steps into the dentist’s room. *lol* And then his disquieted “you’re very strong” when Garth forced him. I think since Garth treats werewolves who might also have an aversion to the dentist, he’d be used having to use a bit of force *lol* Besides. I really love getting insight into how monsters deal with “normal people problems” because they have them too. It’s a shame that we don’t see more of that side to monsters. We only see those monsters who mess up after all, rarely those who try to blend in.
I might not know much about dentistry but I only had cotton stuffed into my bleeding mouth like that when I got my wisdom teeth out in an operation. Sure, I bleed a bit when I have appointment but not like that??? Just what did Garth do? Replace Dean’s teeth with werewolf teeth? *lol*
Sam and Bess: Dramatic music continues when Bess hands Sam the “cure” drink. It kind of frames the scenes as dangerous and at least it put me slightly on “confused edge” because the music made me think I couldn’t trust Garth and Bess. Sam’s struggles are kinda... over the top. I mean, we’ve seen Dean eat ghost pepper jerky and suffer, but Sam is suffering kinda ridiculously, like he’s been hit by a curse or something (i.e. still like he’s in the middle of a battle against some monster). Ew. Sam wiping his tongue on the arm he’s been sneezing and snotting into. Uff.
The tap dancing: Nice but I don’t really see the point in it >w< I guess normal people have normal funky dreams. And I guess Dean dreams of joyful things like dancing and having FOR ONCE gentle interactions with a lamp instead of always smashing them.
Talking about God and being heroes in a story: I like Garths’ approach to this topic and that he’s much more aware of story structures than the Winchesters seem to be. Why does Dean need a colonoscopy? (Angsty thought: does he have cancer...? Can werewolves smell it? Is that how it’s gonna end? Normal people problem killing Dean? Nope.)
Scene with the cousin: Poor Sam, he looks so upset when his “gentle request and puppy eyes” approach didn’t work. Though I like that it’s Bess who gets the guy to talk (like it’s Garth who gets the job done later on). I really like that monsters have normal people problems too. And it seems like the Winchesters are still very surprised about that.
Sam and Dean “job”: I think they’re being idiots here. Not only do they lack any evidence that the monsters who watch those fights are harming people, so they just kill them because they’re monsters? Also, it seems very unwise for two people alone to take on how many monsters?? No damn research done at all. And on top of that it seems really unwise to go on a case when they don’t know what else “normal people problems” entails while hunting. At least Sam might have been alarmed due to his sudden clumsiness... Just, stupid move on the Winchesters’ part.
Side note: Sam doesn’t seem to be comfortable saying anything at all. He still seems to be shocked by the werewolf’s diss.
Dean continues to be kinda dumb and I don’t exactly get why. They don’t know what they’re walking into, so they definitely need to be prepared and I can think of several examples where he was prepared for anything. And now that he can’t be sure of his “luck” he’s not gonna think twice about it? And him munching his grilled cheese, talking with his mouth full and “playing” with the gun wasn’t super endearing to me. Sorry, I know many found it cute *lol* And who vomits that loudly...? I mean... ew.
I liked that Dean tried to bluff his way out of the situation and maybe it would have worked in another situation...
Dean and Sam in cages: It makes no sense that not being able to pick locks is part of normal people problems because I’m sure they learnt how to pick locks over the years. So this, and their inability to fight later on (another thing they’ve learnt) just makes it clear that Chuck didn’t just remove them from “hero” status, but took away more than just their special skills.
Dean’s entire heartfelt speech doesn’t work either, neither on Sam or Dean, nor on the audience both because of how it’s filmed (no particular clear shot of Dean’s face and Sam constantly looking uncomfortable) and the variation of Dean’s theme.
What’s with Dean’s throat? I don’t understand what he said.
Garth saves the day: Dean’s awed “you are so strong” is cute! Why has he never been in awe of Cas’ strenght? Cas lifted a 1t anvil once and Dean didn’t even look at him amorously for it.
Man, there are a couple things I don’t understand here! Wish I had subtitles because I’ll probably only get what “we’re gotta get out of here blblblbl monstersquad” or “the monster squad bbbüb the good guys” means.
I think they might still be able to fight but whatever “hero” bonus they had was deleted and now it IS almost impossible to just knock out a monster. They did have more trouble in earlier seasons before they could just easily stick an angelblade into every monster and not even break much of a sweat. But the whole fight sequence is just a little bit too ridiculous for me...
Back at Garth’s home: The whole “this Cas keeps looking at me weird” scene is my highlight. I wonder if now that Dean and Cas are no longer locked into their defined roles (though I’m not sure if Chuck has written them with a specific dynamic, since he never seems to make use of Cas) Dean will notice more about Cas too ;D Though of course Dean does notice the way Cas looks at him (”the last time someone looked at me like that, I got laid” as a classic example). But still, maybe something to think about. Since a story does come with particular characters dynamics between heros and their supporting characters.
Dean saying that he could be an awesome dancer if he wanted to be is nice. The only thing he lacks is a partner to dance with. Though... He doesn’t lack a partner since he has Cas back now. He just needs to make the first move ;3
Baby clearly doesn’t want to go to Alaska. *lol*
Okay, that was a long post again, not structured at all, not edited, and it still took me multiple days to rewatch and type this up! Haha

omg, finally someone else watching Roswell!! what are your thoughts on the SCENE ™ in episode 6? i've seen a lot of debate and hate in the fandom in recent days and it's a bit hurtful, to be honest. i, too, want Malex but just not like this, not if Alex is just a second choice for Michael. my poor baby soul deserves a million times better and i'm done with that stupid producer. she needs to go so a professional can take over the most interesting storyline of the series and treat it properly.
first of all, I am sorry from the beginning for what's coming, i have a million thoughts on the scene and specifically Malex.
so. Alex Manes is a ray of sunshine because Tyler Blackburn is a ray of sunshine (confirmed by literally everyone in the cast that's looking at this boy with real life heart eyes emoji as seen on social media and countless videos). Alex is a gay character, a very, very GAY character that defined his sexuality as GAY at least four-five times during season 1 and season 2. Carina said the scene ™ just confirmed his sexuality because he was "confused" (excuse me while I barf). For a "woke" producer she is incredibly ignorant with the LGBT community and she also made little to no effort with making sure the actors are content with filming this super hard and awkward scene. Tyler is super vocal about wanting Malex to end up together and Carina knows it.
I went blind with rage with that scene. After watching the first episode (courtesy of @jamescarstairss because I am a sucker for gay ships), Michael and Alex were the first ones I liked. I remember saying about Maria "she looks like the kind of friend who'd help you hide a body without asking questions". She had potential to be a female character with guts, mind and beauty, the kind who always stands up for her friends. Except she didn't. Maria and Liz were talked about as "Alex's best friends" BUT they never asked him how was life at home or who was the guy at the museum (considering at this point people knew Michael was BI???). So tell me, would a best friend do that to her supposedly best friend? My own answer is no.
Alex loves Michael. Michael loves Alex. You can see that clear as day in at least two scenes where the love is confirmed. (Alex: loving Michael Guerin is the easiest thing in the world; Michael: I will always love him) versus "I like Maria" with a blank expression. Tyler delivered stellar acting in each scene.
So now, on to that scene. I love poly rep when it's done in a way all 3 people are giving explicit consent. (if you follow me or know me, I am a sucker for Mark-Cristina-Kieran from the The Dark Artificies universe). In order for me to like such a throuple, I need confirmation that they are comfortable. I need to hear the word "YES" loud and clear. I've rewatched that scene and the morning after at least four times because I wanted to see each character's reaction during those minutes. Here are my thoughts:
Maria kissed Michael in front of Alex to mark her territory after explicitly telling him how hurt she felt after Michael kissed that girl in front of her. Point made: she wanted to hurt Alex.
Alex tried to make an excuse to leave even if he didn't want to. My opinion is that he was experiencing some kind epiphany that he TRULY lost Michael, he's with Maria. He said "Maria, I don't want to leave", hinting that he would rather have her leave and stay with Michael but of course she didn't take the hint because in Alex's words "It doesn't matter what I want". He is vulnerable from what happened and also declared his love for Michael a thousand times, what more can we ask for?
Michael was scared he almost lost the love of his life and the one he "likes" that night, hence the super out of character acting. Vlamis is incredible and a dedicated supporter of Malex but unlike Tyler, this is his potential big break as an actor so he's afraid to lose his job and makes smaller but significant gestures to hint that he's not liking the situation.
Maria initiated the scene™. She kissed Alex first and of course he reciprocated because otherwise he would've had to leave. She could've asked for permission first, but you know, why not assume a GAY man wants to kiss you? Alex doesn't know how to appreciate or love himself, Maria does. This is called psychological manipulation.
Michael specifically asked if it's ok, Maria replied, Alex didn't but he also didn't pull back. Maria placed Alex's hands on her leg and he moved it to Michael's stomach (if I remember correctly). Obviously, he wanted Michael, not Maria. From my experience, GAY man are unable to feel sexual arousing for women, that's the whole point of this sexuality.
Alex kissed Michael and then Michael's back, he didn't lean on to kiss Maria again. The only true link between them is now Michael, their friendship is broken beyond repair (from my point of view) at this moment.
Next day: Michael asks if they crossed a line. Alex tries to hide he is uncomfortable. "I thought we were going to end up together" wasn't just a random line. Tyler, once again, delivered a moving performance with only his face. Michael suggested Alex felt loved when he couldn't find the words to describe it. You can clearly see he hesitated and said "Yeah", not "yes" and then elaborate the answer. Either way, that scene had more chemistry than Maria and Michael had the whole 2 seasons. Alex left with a sight, Michael didn't look away (not really).
Points made:
Maria is the worse friend in this series and what was supposed to be a strong, confident woman turned into an insecure girlfriend for someone's who is in love with another person. I hate these kind of characters.
Michael turned his back to the love of his life, someone who will ALWAYS love Alex because he made him feel seen and had the sweetest reaction to him being... you know, an alien.
Alex doesn't know how to love himself but he is still the most unselfish, kind and self sacrificing person in this hellhole of a series. I want him to be showered in love by Forrest, genuinely smiling and not thinking about how much damage his family has done to the families of those he loves. He deserves the world.
Tyler Blackburn is super vocal about what he wants from these characters and from what I've seen he has little to none respect left for Carina. The best thing she could do for the series is to leave. Michael Vlamis likes all fan comments that are saying they hated the scene so what's that about everyone feeling loved and secure? (for more on that, Alina's answer is shorter and more explicit. head on @jamescarstairss to see that) and thanks if you took time to read everything. Love you and stay a Malex supporter ever haha ❤️

top 5 movies you can always rewatch and why?
Ooh excellent question, thank you!!
In no particular order, and not very coherent because my brain is mush this week :)
Aliens - pretty much a perfect film :) Ultraviolence, fantastic action and creature work, THE BEST character writing and cast chemistry, insanely quotable (it IS the only way to be sure) and just the sheer freaking joy of watching Ripley work through her trauma by said ultraviolence. And adopting a small feral child. And a bona fide Battle Couple Trope, with Hicks being absolute hearteyes for her taking charge and saving everyone. (Yes it has to be the Special Edition, and nope, we don’t talk about the sequels mangling the entire narrative arc dammit.)
Terminator - Baby newbie director James Cameron turning a really freaky fever dream into a swoony doomed quotable time travel romance! With ultraviolence :) And the character work that goes into making Sarah feel like a real person, complete with a pet iguana called Pugsley. The post-apocalyptic horror, the police station scene and the factory finale??? And don’t even get me started on Michael Biehn because I might start crying again... (no we don’t talk about the sequels for this one either, idek).
Fury Road - I mean??? Does this even need an explanation? Cinematic perfection - the casting, the direction, the characters, the sound mixing, the EDITING. The social commentary. SO MUCH EXCELLENT ULTRAVIOLENCE. Max and his reluctant heroics. Furiosa!!! The WIVES. THE VULVALINI. I may or may not have seen this in the cinema fourteen times the year it came out. THE SHEER DAMN CATHARSIS OF IT ALL. Charlize Theron and Tom Hardy playing characters with such an excellent battle couple trope THAT THEIR STUNT DOUBLES FELL IN LOVE AND GOT MARRIED IRL.
Dredd - My ultraviolent happy place :) It’s just a sleek, gorgeously simple, cathartic narrative with the most beautiful camerawork capturing horrible things, and some fabulous characters. That’s all you need. Karl Urban and Olivia Thirlby giving it their absolute all. LENA HEADY. I don’t even have words for how brilliant she is; the amount of quiet pathos this very loud violent film lends its characters between all the many, many bullets flying all over the place. And best of all... no damn sequels :)
Amelie - My what’s app profile picture may quite possibly be me sitting in the cafe in Montmartre surrounded by Amelie paraphernalia, grinning like a very happy idiot?? It takes quirky to whole new levels of twee, it’s visually inventive and so funny and warm and sweet and snarky, and I think I may have hyperventilated when I saw the director do a q&a in person?? And the MUSIC and the COLOURS and Audrey Tatou and Matthieu Kassovitz?? That goddamn ghost train scene wrecks me every time. I may possibly be very fussy about which set of English subtitles they use for this one, because I have the original DVD ones memorised, and the literal translation ones on TV make no sense in context. I love this film so much. Times ARE hard for dreamers, it’s true.
Thank you for the ask!! I’m sorry this is completely incoherent lol!!
#anon ask#this is completely rambling i'm so sorry#stringing words together is not my forte this week#so it's very capslock shouty#i'm so impressed i actually managed to finish it though

2019 & 2010s Best/Worst
Because I like lists and cataloguing the dumb shit I cared about. As my brother once said after seeing and reviewing NOW YOU SEE ME on a lazy Sunday, ‘Some would say it was a waste of time, others might say it was a colossal waste of time.’
I’ll admit, it’s a bit over-the-top. Particularly including the Pats, but yeah, in the Tom Brady era that started when I was 14 as a Freshman in high school to 33 years old now and wrapping up soon-ish (?), there’s not a chance in hell I’ll care as intimately about this shit. I grew up with it at just the right time.

14x12 & 14x13
During my re-watch of S14 and sobbing once again through the Brofest Trifecta, I no longer think the decision to end the show next season was made spur of the moment. Im convinced the decision was made a while ago, possibly at the same time they decided to do shorter seasons. Maybe even as far back as before S13, and that's why there was so much push for a spin-off, that ended up being very poorly written. Im not entirely sure, but at least Im confident that there was no drastic recent event that made them want to close up shop. I think they wanted to get to the 300 milestone, and why not take it through the 15 season milestone too, then hang up the flannels.
They had a lot to celebrate over the past couple seasons, the spin-off (yuck) Scoobynatural, the honor of being given The Supernatural Studios, the 300th Episode, JDM coming back and early sign on for S15, I'm sure no one wanted to bum anyone out with announcing an ending, and take the spotlight from the other things, but now as I rewatched this season, (and even some of last) I can see a set up, most specifically in the episodes Prophet and Loss, and Lebanon.
In s13, they decided to bring back Michael. That doesn't necessarily mean they’d already scheduled an end, but I think they pulled that arc off the shelf for when an end was in sight. Because seriously, as much as I may hear you all moan and groan about how the Michael Lucifer thing is so old and boring, its THE biggest storyline in the whole series, and never should have been shelved. I mean Sam and Dean being the literal vessels of the 2 biggest Archangels is HUGE. It doesnt have to be the main story all the time, but they should never let the viewers forget, and that arc should get a proper closure, which it hasnt yet.
Now this season has been setting us up for where we are now. (as any season would) but early on, there were hints to an end in sight. Small ones though, just enough to send a little chill up my spine, that yes, the show will eventually end. like in Mint Condition, Dean suggesting next Halloween they dress like Thelma and Louise and get in the car and just go. We all flash back to how Thelma and Louise drove off a cliff. Meanwhile throughout the season, we see Sam slowly unravelling. Dean began unravelling last season, and now the brothers are coming undone. Which brings me to the two episodes that I believe were setting us up for the later anouncement.
Prophet and Loss was not only the most emotional scene we’ve seen from Sam since S8, and probably even more emotional than that, and Jared has to deliver his most emotional scene to date. As most of us know, Jared had an emotional reaction to the scene that made him not be able to say the words and fit them with the actions. It affected him so strongly that Jensen thought he may be having a stroke, because as long as he’s known Jared, and everything he’s been through, he’s never seen him unable to do the job, and at that moment, he couldnt do it. Jared said its the only time in his whole career he ever went home and cried, feeling like he disappointed everyone. That made me so sad when I heard it, and wanted him to know he didnt disapooint anyone, he did an AMAZING job!
Now, after the annoucement of the end, that scene takes on a whole new meaning. I think (and I stress that its a thought, and Im not assuming I know how Jared thinks) that if Jared knew the show was ending, saying those lines would be hard as hell. Saying them and knowing we didnt know yet, could be very upsetting. Perhaps he wondered in his own heart that they made the wrong decision (as anyone put in their position would wonder at least 1000 times) and yelling at Dean about quitting, felt too much like yelling at Jensen? “We’re the guys that save the world, we dont just check out of it!” Go watch that scene again, and try to imagine Jared saying it with what we know now.
Maybe he even thought of it from the POV of the fans? That maybe thats how many of us would feel once we heard? Could it be even that maybe when he got home, he cried worried he would disappoint us all with their pending news, and the lines in that scene were just too close to home?
Even after the, now iconic, punch/hug “Why dont you believe in us too” Dean’s response was ironic too, almost like they dont need to tell us at all, but respectfully they will, and when the time comes, we do then what we cant do now, put them in the box and let them go. (watch where you step... my heart is laying around here somewhere)
This brings us to Lebanon. Such a tearfest in itself. My favorite episode yet! But if they all knew the end was in the cards, this episode also takes on new meaning. I dont think it was any accident that they chose to not show a live episode the weerk after the announcement, but to re-air Lebanon instead. It was as though they re-aired it so we could collectively see it in another way, and mourn together a little.
It’s no secret that JDM loves J2 and vise versa, J2 have said a million times theyd love to have him back, and he has said he’d love that too and how proud he is of them, and will always consider them “his boy. Him coming back was alone a sign the end was coming. How badly we, as well as Jared wanted so bad for Sam to have closure with his father. and we were given a heart wrenching and tearful scene between Sam and John. Both confronted each other with their issues, chose not to dwell on it, acknowledge they each hurt the other, and theyre sorry.
Sam said the argument they had was a lifetime ago, it may have taken half that lifetime for Sam to believe and understand, even though he did some messed up things, that yes, Dad loved him. And now, theres closure.
We soon go then to, what I now believe was a message to us, that the time to part is coming soon. Everyone sad and speechless at the table, and John says “Now as I see it, we have 2 choices, we can either dwell on whats coming, or be grateful for this time we have together. And me, I choose graqteful. So to whatever power brought us together....we owe you one” then each give an individual “amen” That killed me then, and now it kills me in a new way, and its always going to stick in my head now as a message to us fans.
We move on now to John’s farewell. J2 have said they didnt need to fake any emotions, the emotions where all really there. I now see not just John, but JDM telling J2 “I am so proud of you boys” hugging them both “I love you both so much” Jared so emotional he cant talk, and Jensen mustering enough strength for the both of them to say “I love you too” (I think I heard my heart shattering in a corner somewhere) I will never get over that episode in this lifetime... ever.
After these episodes, we got a break (mercifully) then we got 3 episodes before we got the announcement. In those episodes, we have Cas explaining to Jack that even though Sam and Dean are wonderful, amazing, and special human beings, they are humans and humans shine for just a short time. Someday Sam and Dean will die, and it will hurt, but that pain will remind us of how much we love them. And Jack thinks like me... “That sounds.... awful”... those words are not a comfort Cas.... nice try though 💔😭
We also have Sam still unravelling, he got a dose of phony happiness, (as did Dean in Nihlism ... as neither place of happiness included each other) yet, it was each other who pulled them out. Sam pulled Dean out of his dream world, the mention of Dean pulled Sam out. Sam knows he wont be happy without Dean, so he presses on. We still have 4 episodes left of this season. Lucifer is on his way back. AU Michael might be dead, but cage Michael has been mentioned a lot the past few seasons so I think we’re gonna get some kind of real showdown to put that arc to rest.
So now I will always see Prophet and Loss and Lebanon in a new way... a painful way, but Ill throw in an honorary mention of some irony in Damaged Goods.... regarding the from behind, sneak attack hug, “If it feels like something is up, it probably is” and regarding Sam’s anger when Dean told him his plan, it would have really been messed up and wrong if they didnt tell us, they knew this, so they did.... they didnt have to.

Been debating on posting this theory for a bit now but I’ve recently decided... You know what?
Why not?
If I’m wrong then I’m wrong. Cool. Worse comes to worse we get to chat about things. And I got a read more as it’s gonna be a long one... Sorry to the Michael stans in advanced...
This may hurt.
Okay... Been rewatching the last episode "Return to the Murder House" as well as "The Morning After" and "Forbidden Fruit" bit lately.
One because JESSICA LANGE IS A BEAST and GODS did I miss Queen Constance Langdon. Two because... Our Return felt... off.
Not because of the slew of Omen references cause that was to be expected. In fact, I was going to be upset if we didn't have on crazy person yell "IT'S ALL FOR YOU MICHAEL!" at least once (which we did btw right before that poor girl got Aztec style sacrificed. Why does it always gotta be the heart? Ouch!). But because I felt like there were holes in Constance's, Ben's, and possibly even Vivian's stories when we compare all of the details Michael himself has said about what he does.
Not big ones but...
Enough that I couldn't help but wonder when rewatching a few times why it bugged me. It took my rewatching "Forbidding Fruit" & "Could it be... Satan?" that it hit me what it was.
Now we've seen Michael kill- like actually without a doubt kill on screen- three times now.
Once the asshole Butcher (seriously, who cares what's she's using it for? It's just a goat's head and if she wants to pay for it, why not?)...
... The second that Cop who was "interrogating" him (more like “beat the hell out him” ), and the third the Cop who saw him escaping (who probably would have posted his and Ariel's pictures Everywhere, let’s be real here). All of whom- Well in Michael's mind- deserved it or did so to protect himself.
Now I know they were throw away characters but... It's curious that we saw it compared to his "earlier" kills.
In fact... Thos earlier kills were right there, right in front of us in all it's shocking & horrifying glory. All of the characters even had lines for goodness sakes.
But some of his big kills this episode... Nothing but dead bodies.
The couple who moved into the house had a few lines, sure, but not enough to really stick out save for "Same-Sex Couple that Bought the house" (I'm not going to touch their sexualities on this theory cause I'm sure there are many rants posted online on this & I cannot say anything that hasn't been said before other than the fact I groaned quite a bit when it happened... Again. Sigh
Anyway...)
We never got a proper introduction to them as Constance, Ben, and possibly Vivian only focused on the end of the encounter. Strange huh? Well...
Of course, we wouldn't see it, the Harmons and Constance are telling their story of this “Terrible Monstrous Boy” killing people (I'm not going to touch the animals in this theory as I think that's purely his demonic nature coming out like a cat, as horrifying as it was & he appears to have stopped after his... Uhh... growth spurt). But we didn't see Constance hire the nanny or bring in the priest & we only saw the ladies who bought the home when they moved in.
So why is that exactly? Is it because they are throw away characters? But even most throwaway characters have a few lines, and the Harmons walked around the house before they bought they didn’t move in right away (although as someone who works in the housing market that purchased bugged the hell out of me but that is something else). So why did we seen them like this in particular?
Well... That’s where things get interesting.
Now we all know the Harmons and Constance are the narrators of this story but- let's be real here- they are the definition of unreliable narrators.
In fact, I would call them Unreliable AF. Ben and Vivian's daughter was dead for weeks until they found out. Constance didn't notice the warning signs with Tate spiraling among a slew of other things until the SWAT team was bursting down his door.
So yeah... un-freaking-reliable.
And, seeing as Michael was so "unnatural and different" (he's a freaking cambion okay? It comes with the territory- Merlin was one too and all the King Arthur stories wax poetic on how freaky his shit was) Of course they would focus on the deaths themselves. However... With what we know on Michael.
It doesn't add up.
I know a bunch of people are going to flood my inbox with the whole "HE'S THE ANTICHRIST" but... Think about it. He's supposed to be the essence of evil, however, he is still part human and humans have free will right? I can’t say I’ve read the whole Bible but from what I’ve gathered that was a major part of the start & another reason the angel’s became jealous and fell after all right? Plus he said himself...
"I've never been a fan of getting my hands dirty..."
So why would he willing get his hands dirty? If there is anything I know about kids its that if they don’t want to do something they will not do it. Period.
Soo... Why would he stab and kill that couple? Why would he kill his nanny and look so proud of being bloody from it of it afterward? Why would he kill that Priest and shrug it off?
Curious.
But I think I may know why...
Michael has stated he has a talent or (as I’d like to call it) a "superpower" of sorts. Maybe it’s because of his demonic heritage, maybe it’s because he’s a child of both the living and the dead and they say in death all of life’s questions are answered (Addy had said she knew what Tate had done via Billie Dean after all). Either way he even gave it a name of sort in calling it a "night vision of the soul"...
...It's how he was able to wind everyone up and watch them go up until a few apples showed up. And it’s this power in particular that when rewatching caught my attention.
Now... we know he's had powers since he was very young if the other little hints of his power as a baby are any hint & from we can gather he age normally for a time and dead flies without their wings when he can barely move his fingers? Come now. So when did this power really awaken?
I think I know when and -In fact- I think we all do...
With the death of his Nanny.
Now I may be going off the rails here but... Stay with me.
I think he may have seen something in his Nanny, Flora thanks to his “Night Vision”. Something that caused him to... react.
We've all heard horror stories of the babysitter being a bad egg and we all know how Ryan loves to play with these old horror stories (uuuh it's in the title, American Horror Story duh!). So what if he saw her doing something?
What if he looked into her soul and saw other kids she's killed and swept under the rug? What if he could sense something terrible?
What if he sensed her about to hurt him and his grandma?
We all know Constance wouldn't have noticed if there was anything wrong, if the nanny doing her job right, she was "the help" after all. And as much as We love Constance...
Yeaah...
That would explain a bit about why little Michael looked so happy as he sat in his rocking chair, why he waved to grandma as if it were no major thing while there was a dead body less then five feet away? After all, he was using his powers in a way she would be sure to call healthy -it wasn't animals anymore after all (thank gods)- and a bad lady who would hurt him and grandma was gone now.
But this wasn't the first time that Michael would have to deal with these particular powers.
Oh no... Michael’s aged overnight and then Constance's "divine intervention" which led to another dead body:
That dead Priest at the edge of Michael's bed.
Yeah...
I don't think I have to get into the current events with the church and the things they've hidden under the rug. Heck, it’s pretty well documented. So can we all really say we would be surprised if Michael sensed something bad there?
And the fact that they were IN MICHAEL'S ROOM especially got me when I started to think about it and... I gotta say I got the shivers from that scene for a very very different reason.
But, like most things with Michael when he really started this power, this gift was uncontrollable. Michael being so young and growing up so soon. What if he couldn't turn it off? Think about it... A Small child in a young man’s body with terrible things were being broadcasted to him and all he knew was how to was react to them like a mirror with light.
"...All people, given the right pressures and stimulus are evil mother fuckers."
I think that's he suddenly attacked Constance as well.
And let's be real here, as much as we love Queen Langdon, her skeleton's have overrun her closet and they are even a few buried in her backyard.
But he gained control, he saw it was his Grandma before him and he looked as horrified as we all felt in that moment (our first watch).
Maybe then he started to realize... He couldn't keep doing this. Attacking people. It was bad... He was becoming like them. And besides... it was grandma and she was nice to him. She loved him & he loved her!
Okay maaaaybe I'm going all fan fiction here but with how he was so heartbroken when he saw her dead, why he blamed himself so much.
Why he said a few words that I may have cried when he said it-
“I’m a monster! Why would you want to help me?!”
Ouch.
Needless to say Ben showing up when he did was probably one of the best things to happen to him for the brief moment. Ben became a father he never had and encouraged him to be good.
But that wasn't the only reason he wanted to be good. The spirits whispered to him...
About his biological father.
Now I honestly don’t think all Tate's actions were not just influenced by the house or the devil here but some were his own (once agian, free will kids). But regardless... Tate had changed. I think losing Violet made him actually change after all he's probably more of a sociopath, and not a psychopath as everything he did was for Violet (it wasn't healthy but he cared about her a hella ton more then the Joker cares for Harley Quinn). He had admitted to all things he did... Once. And maybe the other spirits told him about it.
Kids have a tendency to want to be like their parents and I could see him all but worshipping Tate. If his “father” changed, maybe he could too? Maybe he could be good one day? Maybe he could accept people and all the ugly parts of them?
Ben thought he could do it.
So maybe his "dad" could too?
Well... of course, we all know how well THAT turned out.
Sigh
Tate...
You're an interesting, multi-layered, and complicated character and I love you for it but... YOU. ARE. A.GREAT. BIG. BAG. OF. DICKS.
Freaking hell dude
Anyway, Michael spiraled downwards and pretty hardcore.
Like Ben said, all of the dark parts of the house started to whisper to him and he followed suit...
However, that part with Elizabeth Short gave me some pause that he was 100% gone with how our “The Black Dahlia“ was at the end of season 1 (Hell she was pretty ecstatic she became a famous murder victim). She probably asked him to recreate the moment she “Became Somebody” & the kid probably thought he was doing her a favor as it made the pretty lady happy (Kids are weird bro, part demon or no). But I doubt Ben knows about that bit.
He only said what he saw.
Didn't exactly ask Micheal on the "why" here and I have to admit I headdesked as he DIDN'T TEAR MICHAEL AWAY. Cause...
SERIOUSLY?
Aren’t you supposed to be a better parent then you are a therapist?!
Ugghhhhhh
And then... The biggest hole in this slew of flashbacks happened.
The new couple showed up and bought the house.
Now we saw them how Ben saw them, not how Michael did. We saw a nice same-sex couple. But...
Who knows what Michael saw?
We didn’t see them look at the house or buy it... Only after they moved in. So there’s a part missing in this story.
Whatever it was something that really really set him off, he was waiting for them when they moved in, dressed in latex & did the one thing he hated to do...
...Get his hands dirty.
But he didn't stop there.
When Ben said they would be trapped in the house forever... What did Michael do?
He destroyed them entirely (or so it looks like of course, I was getting some hardcore "Drag me to Hell" vibes TBH but that's just me) in such a venomous way I was reminded instantly of the cop in the police station.
Do we know why he did it?
Do we know how he found out the house was going to be sold?
Nope.
Ben kinda missed that detail entirely. Interesting seeing as the kid was kinda a squatter at this point. But with the relish, Michael had when he did it... I wonder.
What gets's me the most about that particular scene is how Michael looked so hurt when Ben said he was a “lost cause” and gave up on him.
He had mentioned in "Could it Be... Satan?" he Miss Mead had been the one person who hadn’t betrayed him.
Did Ben know something more... Did he neglect in saying something to Madison & Behold? Would it really surprise you all if maybe he had? Ben has a glorious track record for doing the wrong thing at the wrong time.
Either way Michael was alone.
For the first time.
Told by another person he was a lost cause...
Evil.
And my guess as to why:
Because he could see the evil in others.
Imagine his surprise when a group of people come to his door at night and all but worship him & be willing to show him the so-called truth cause you know he knew he was different at this point?
They did terrible things sure, but they were kind to him. His Grandma had done the same but she hadn't accepted him. These people did, and they were willing to do something bad so he could know what they knew...
It was probably the first time anyone had really done anything for him....
... And when he bit into the heart of that girl...
Well...
That was all she wrote.
He was told he was evil so many times... He started to believe it. And hearing his so-called "true father's" voice...
Now keep in mind this is all a theory and maybe, I’m reading into nothing. Seeing shapes in smoke but...
Cody has said a few times that the first few episodes gave certain things away. And well all know Ryan has a tendency to make us feel sorry for some of the most horrifying people ever. I won’t be surprised if he turns the Antichrist into something equally tragic. His own version of Lucifer’s fall and... Maybe his redemption as well. I guess we’ll find out as we continue on.
But... TLDR-
I don’t we got the whole story from the Murder House, not with how important it is to Michael’s character. There are two sides to every story. Don’t consider us “Murder House” survivors just yet...
It’s only a matter of time until we have to go back and I get the feeling more Michael back story is gonna hurt...
