Dali saying no one is allowed to mourn his death while he is on the verge of tears it's just heartwrenching although he is kind of responsible for what ul had to go through not allowing him to befriend Sophie because he is a dhampir and he will be a bad influence, encouraging him to be who he is without being ashamed which he can't do obviously or the name of delico will be tarnished for taking in a dhampir and raising him. resulting in ul hating himself for being born as a dhampir and wishing he was a vampire ...... I really loathe this class system.

Dali still saying it smells like a sewer rat knowing that the one who protected his son from getting burnt, the one who was by his side till his last breath, the one who gave him a brighter days at clan, is Sophie. a dhampir, those that are always told that they smell like sewer rats. Those he always hated one of them was his dear child's "light and star". He must be regretting all that he had done form the way he was harsh to his children and his hate for dhampirs....

THE WAY SOPHIE LOOKS AT UL …

He is sort of looking up, right at Ul. his head is tilted, specifically angled so that his face comes parallel to Ul’s and he can look at him better/directly. but during the rest of Sophie’s life before he met Ul, he was always looking down/away from other people, in the sense that he was always keeping to himself because he didn’t like anyone around him. but he’s looking at Ul.

and in the manga Sophie makes a point of not actually wanting a friend, he doesn’t want to get close to anyone, but in this picture his hand placement looks like he might be about to reach for Ul’s hair, like he might be almost taking that step to get closer to Ul.

meanwhile Ul looks so relaxed, his eyes are closed, both hands in frame which makes him look so unguarded. it says so much to me that he’s like this around Sophie, something he couldn’t do with any of his other friends because he had to hide how he’s a dhampir from them.

maybe Ul feels safe around Sophie because Sophie is someone who wouldn’t hate him for what he is or want him to hide it, unlike how his family seemingly hated dhampirs (especially because/even though he was one) and wanted him to hide his own dhampirism.

- or there’s also just the fact that his closed eyes are foreshadowing his death. maybe he’s not looking at Sophie despite his whole thing being that he is always looking at Sophie. because he was always looking for, in Sophie, something that Sophie did not have (a desire to overcome what he is, or any sort of hope that would validate Ul when no one else would).

DISCLAIMER: all I’m saying is in the process of drawing, Decisions were made to give them these specific demeanors/expressions/hand placements etc. I do not know exactly how much thought was put into those decisions but I know it always gets worse the more you think about it anyway 💔

when ul said ‘oh god there is a miracle standing in front of me’ to/about sophie and sophie looks at ul the same way ul spoke about him. I CANT DO THIS ANYMORE
