DENVER (AP) — Three Colorado men were accused of tying up and torturing their housemate for 14 hours, according to an arrest affidavit, The Denver Post reported Monday. The three men, Jason Carlson, 49; Sherell Allen, 48; and Luke Anaya, 41; are now in custody, facing charges including attempted murder, assault, false imprisonment and kidnapping, court records show. The 45-year-old man told deputies he’d lived in the house in Jefferson County, just west of Denver, for only a few weeks when he overheard his three housemates talking about attacking him at about 2 a.m. on Sept. 15, the court records said. The man tried to barricade the door, but the three busted it down, shooting him with rock salt loaded into “Airsoft-type firearms,” assaulting him and stepping on his neck until he went unconscious, the man told law enforcement.***

Boulder King Soopers shooter found guilty of 55 counts The three-and-a-half-year saga surrounding the Boulder King Soopers massacre came to a grueling end Monday as families of the 10 people killed inside the store alternated between offering forgiveness, calling on vengeance from God and begging America to end the horror of mass shootings. Ahmad Al Aliwi Alissa has been convicted of 55 crimes in the March 22, 2021, mass shooting at a King Soopers on Table Mesa. He killed Kevin Mahoney, 61; Denny Stong, 20; Neven Stanisic, 23; Rikki Olds, 25; Tralona Bartkowiak, 49; Teri Leiker, 51; Boulder police Officer Eric Talley, 51; Suzanne Fountain, 59; Lynn Murray, 62; and Jody Waters, 65. Boulder County District Court Judge Ingrid Bakke sentenced Alissa to life in prison without the possibility of parole for the 10 counts of first-degree murder. Latest rape charge against Dirtbaggy
*** Thalia Graves alleged that she met Combs when she was 25 through her boyfriend, who worked at Combs' record label Bad Boy. Around the summer of 2001, while in a vehicle with Combs and Joseph Sherman, his bodyguard and head of security, she accepted his offer of a glass of wine and began to feel "lightheaded, dizzy and physically weak," the lawsuit states. She lost consciousness and later awoke naked in a studio in Manhattan with her hands tied behind her back, the lawsuit states. Combs came into the room and raped her, and he smashed her head into a pool table as she tried to resist, according to the lawsuit. Sherman sexually assaulted her as she came in and out of consciousness, the lawsuit states.*** In November 2023, she learned from her former boyfriend that Combs and Sherman had recorded and published video of the assault and shown it to others, according to the lawsuit.*** Combs was moved into a dorm-style room at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn on Monday, a space that he now shares with former FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried and former Honduras President Juan Orlando Hernandez. The facility's high-profile inmates stay in this larger holding unit that's isolated from the general public and don't go to prison common areas, a source told CNN.

An example of this happened to me tonight. I am disabled and currently Not Well, and I have some pretty specific delivery instructions as my apartment complex is a nightmare to deal with. (I try to tip heavy) sometimes delivery drivers either can’t figure out/or don’t feel like doing the instructions, and won’t just call me. This particular guy ditched my stuff at a random door even though I selected “sign for stuff.” I was pretty annoyed, so I called customer service to let them know because it KEEPS happening, and only ever with Walmart. (King Soopers and I are in a fight about something else right now, they’re the only other game in town.)
But, when I got to the service center person, I used humor to convey my annoyed-ness, and I was honest without exaggerating the issue. I just told him that I’m disabled, the situation is dumb and kind of frustrating, I wanted to still tip the driver, I’m not Scrooge McDuck; but I needed Wal-Mart to have some kind of record of their drivers being flippant with my precious and emergent glue gun refills and groceries. Also I’d maybe like a coupon. At the end of the convo the guy gave me a $20 credit and thanked me about 3 times for how nice and polite I was, which tells me the poor guy gets yelled at and frozen out all day.
Tl;dr be the light in a customer service worker’s day. Remember/ask for their name, crack a joke, be prepared to be told “no” and say thank you for f*ck’s sake. You might get more than what you expected, and even if you don’t it’s nice to get that warm fuzzy feeling from treating people like people.
Teens and young adults alike who grew up during the "Karen" trend of social media jokes,
PLEASE understand that demanding real problems be addressed, that you not be ripped off, and that you receive decent care at a hospital, restaurant, business, etc. is NOT what makes a Karen. Entitled, bratty, abusive behavior makes a Karen.
Take care of yourself and know you are NOT the problem for doing so.

Sen Morimoto and JWords at Zone One at Elsewhere
Tumblr media
Touring in support of his new album, Diagnosis, Chicago’s Sen Morimoto headlined Zone One at Elsewhere in Brooklyn, NY on Saturday, December 2nd. Morimoto was backed by a full band including Ryan Person on drums, Kurt Shelby on bass, Elijah Bradford on guitar, and KAINA. The show in NYC over the weekend marked the end of their tour.
There was an opening set by JWords who did an instrumental set when the show began promptly at 8PM. I saw her perform with H31R recently, and was excited she was selected to warm up the show.
Before the performences began, I met up with Sen at Elsewhere to capture a few portraits of him, which are available in the gallery on my website here, along with images from JWords’ set and Sen’s. I’m so glad that I got to hear the songs from Diagnosis live and the whole band sounded fantastic (the 90’s rock like arrangement of the beginning of the title track was a delightful surprise).
Diagnosis is out now on Sooper & City Slang Records.

Supermarket employee fired for recording 3 men stealing $500 in laundry detergent
A Colorado supermarket employee was fired after he recorded three men stealing approximately $500 worth of laundry detergent from the store on Father’s Day.
Santino Burrola, the King Soopers employee, was alerted to a theft in progress at the store and the first thing he thought to do was pull out his phone and record it.
“When I looked there was already a guy halfway headed out with a food cart full of laundry detergents and scent boosters and what have you,” Burrola told CBS Colorado. “My first instinct, record.”
As Burrola, a former military police officer, walked out of the store, the three thieves hurried to load up a black Chevy Trax, one opening the doors, another throwing a basket full of items into the back seat, and another struggling to unload the full shopping cart.
“Really, bro, you got to resort to this? The economy isn’t that bad,” Burrola could be heard in the now-viral video shared by the Arapahoe Sheriff’s Office.
“Better gettin’ while the gettin’s good,” Burrola joked to the men.
As the three stooges attempted to flee the parking lot, the getaway driver was a little faster than the two still outside the car, who had trouble getting into the vehicle.

Santino Burrola was alerted to a theft in progress at the store and the first thing he thought to do was pull out his phone and record it.
That allowed Burrola to yank a sheet of foil covering the license plate.
After the men got into the car and left the area, Burrola called the police, later sharing the video to social media, which helped out the investigators.
“So I posted it on TikTok, hoping that somebody would recognize them,” said Burrola about the video that was seen 1.5 million times, including by rapper Snoop Dogg.
When Burrola returned to the store for his next shift, he learned he had been suspended, and a week later was fired.

I just finished putting together Issue 24 of the magazine! After a busy summer following the release of the last issue and the Currents gallery shows, I'm so glad to finally share this one with you all! I wrapped up this issue while staying with my friends behind the publisher TXTbooks in Brooklyn and have spent the past week laying out the issue from Logan Fitzpatrick's bedroom while he's been out of town. This issue would not be possible without the patience and generosity of so many people that I've met through doing the magazine, and it's incredible to know that there are friends around the country willing to help. This issue is coming out a little later than I hoped because of a new newspaper project I launched through my job at Danger Collective Records, but I'm still so proud of the end result none the less. So many great pieces were sent in for this issue, and I finally have the opportunity to share some interviews from this year that I've been eager to publish. I had such a pleasure working on this issue, and I hope you get pleasure out of reading through it! I plan on taking another little break before starting the next issue, so keep your eyes peeled for something new later next year! :)
GO READ IT ONLINE HERE
