I have some theories on what the plot of the CONFIRMED Sonic 4 will be. See this theory below

I have a lot of theories on what the premise of the 4th movie could be.

1. Sonic CD inspired Past and Future Gimmick!

Sonic ran so fast in the end credits scene that he not only ended up in New York... he ended up in the future. Where Metal Sonics are the enforcers of the world. Eggman or someone with Eggman's tech (Like Stone), managed to create Metal Sonic. With Sonic not there, the metal sonic's easily took over the world.

Amy, the one we see in the end credits, is actually a FREEDOM FIGHTER. And probably leading it. Sonic of course says he will fix this and save everyone. Cue some reason why he isnt going back to the past right away.... He bonds with Amy and maybe even crushes on her.

Amy explains something about how that after the events of Sonic 3, the explosion of the Super weapon caused a portal to open resulting in a bunch of aliens coming to earth (That or maybe they just started showing up because they heard about sonic. whatever reason). Sonic finds out that Someone made a robot of him and without him there, the metal sonics won. Also there is the Death Egg.

Sonic ends up having a showdown with Metal Sonic Prime/ The OG Metal Sonic at some point and Sonic gets back to his time in which Sonic arrives just in time to fight Metal Sonic Prime again, but back when he was first created.

Day is saved and Also Amy of the Present is there and she finally meets Sonic. Cue Meetcute

2.Sonic Heroes inspired Gimmick

After Sonic 2, a lot more mobians/ aliens actually started showing up all over earth. Some because they heard of Sonic and were fans of the hedgehog (Like Amy). And others because Mobius is in trouble, to ask Sonic for help.

After the events of Sonic 3, its revealed that Eggman didnt die, but was actually sent into a wormhole and sent him to Sonic's homeworld.

Anyway he uses Sonic's Quill to create a new robot. A Metal Sonic. And this metal Sonic ends up learning and becomes sentient. And creates more of himself, he betray's eggman. Now the metal sonics and Neo Metal Sonic, go to earth to destroy Sonic. So that Metal Sonic can be the one true sonic.

Also introducing others like Rouge, Omega, and maybe even Cream the Rabbit

3. A mix of both

So its a Future idea, but with Neo Metal Sonic as the Main Villain. We may even get one of Metal sonic's big forms. Like Perfect Chaos, Super Neo Metal, or even.... the Red one from Knuckle's chaotix.

We also have Sonic meet some cool older versions of cream, big the cat, the Chaotix, and rouge. As well as an older Shadow who helps Sonic out.

These Teams have their own plots and have to help save the future and help sonic go back in time to get home.

Sonic will have his epic climactic battle with Neo Metal who reveals he was created by the Doctor. (either as a fail safe that creates him, he actually survives but metal betrayed him, or Stone created him)

Sonic's lesson in this is more about knowing how to be a true leader.

I guess the main question I have for Sonic 4 is if Shadow will be in it, because I'm not sure whether or not he'll be allowed to have his own spinoff movie. Preferably, I'd like a separate film dedicated to Shadow meeting Rouge and Omega, and maybe even throw the Black Arms in there.

If there's one character you can justify not coming back in 4, it'd be Shadow. It seems like he'd be off doing his own thing, rather than becoming a permanent member of the main cast like Tails and Knuckles.

I also genuinely think Shadow could carry a theatrical movie of his own, especially after all the praise Keanu's performance has gotten. Guess we'll have to wait and see.

I don’t remember where I read it, but someone had a theory that Sonic 4 was going to be based on Sonic CD with the addition of Amy and Metal Sonic.

Not just Metal, but all those duplicates of him? Plus Amy being a Bad Ass (tm) and taking them all out in one hit?

Something bad must have happened in the future - someone wanted to take out Sonic before he learned something vital, or before he got too strong, and so they sent back a version of him that is superior in every way. Amy learns about her hero and knows she’s the only one that can save him if she can just go back and help him!

Plus, there’s always the chance that Robotnik gets pulled from the past and into the present. Either right before the explosion, or further back - when he didn’t fire Agent Stone and doesn’t know why he isn’t there working for him.

oh yeah, and designwise it'd probably be better if stone made it, because if eggman built him, he'd probably design metal sonic the way he designs his badniks, the white minimalist robots, If stone made it, he would end up closer to the design from cd

so Jim Carrey said that movie 3 will be his last role, and then they also confirmed that there will be alot more movies in sonic cinema like Marvel does, and I love the idea that Amy will be in the next post credits scene, because it just makes sense... so, do you think movie 4 and onwards would have Metal Sonic as the main villain??

Oooooooo, that would be very interesting!! I like that I idea, though I personally have always thought that once Robotnik is gone, Stone will take his place as the main antagonist. It would be immensely interesting, especially since Sonic loves to banter with his enemies and Stone is kinda. Well. Stone faced. XD I also think it would be kinda cool to watch Stone just completely unravel as he tries to fulfill his boss's wish if destroying that hedgehog. An insane Stone would be really interesting to see!

Maybe Stone is the one who creates Metal Sonic! That way we can still have Metal as a major villain like you suggested. I think it would make sense for Stone to create Metal, especially if he still has access to the quill we saw Sonic give Robotnik in the trailer yesterday.

Anyway, sorry for the rambling. XD To sum it up, yes Metal Sonic being the new main villain would be very cool! But I think it should be in tandem with Agent Stone.

Professor Tori (aka "pink-haired lady") and everything we know about her

i havent seen any posts compiling everything about Tori yet, so consider this a masterpost of sorts for her.

march 24th, 2022, Tailstube #4 released with this graphic, showing a handful of npcs from Sonic Unleashed (and explaining how mobians/anthros/whatever usually live on islands and humans usually live on continents). one person stuck out, being the pink-haired lady behind Professor Pickle

as far as i know, this is all we knew about her for over two years. there was some speculation she was going to be in Frontiers, but obviously that wasnt true.

flash forward to december 10th, 2024 -- a clip of Shadow's introduction for Sonic Movie 3 is released, with a familiar face in the background...

yep, there she is! interestingly, she wasnt in this shot in the trailer that had this exact scene in it. they mustve added her in later for... some reason...? additionally, you can see text on the screen shes on.

the english text reads "12.30.24.START!" (tomorrows date, at the time of writing this), and the japanese text; プロフェッサートリィ, reads "Professor Tori" (or Torii, or Tory... ive heard there are a lot of different ways to translate it)

a name that starts with a T, with no additional context behind the character themself? well, that sounds an awful lot like --

the... note?? inside the front cover of Gerald Robotnik's journal???? sure enough checking the japanese translation of this note its explicitly signed by Tori (or Tory, depending on who you ask)

this is just about where the clues abruptly stop. anything else beyond here gets more into the speculation category. its also worth mentioning that Ian Flynn stated around the time she was first seen that "her inclusion is a tease" (source), so it wasnt a case of accidentally throwing old concept art in somewhere, it was a deliberate teaser for something coming in the future. apparently something coming tomorrow, if the movie clip is to be believed.

Hello @selemercy !! I’m so happy you asked because I’m really excited to dive into what could be the possible horrors and traumas of our little sweet pink hedgehog (and speculate in general about her in the fourth movie) !!!

LET’S GO!!!!

First, I will delimit some info. For what we’re seeing in the SCU, the games are the base but not followed step by step, so some modifications can be done. Also, it seems that it’s a game per movie, so Cream and Vanilla wouldn’t be in the movie or barely mentioned. Also using what was seen in the post credit scene.

Ok? Ok.

In the movies, Sonic, Knuckles, Tails and Shadow all have their traumas and heavy backstory that molded them as characters that impact them in all the story. Seeing how this universe is building them so well, I can’t see Amy not receiving a similar development. Because, even loving Amy, I have to admit: she doesn’t have a strong or big backstory for herself. Her own origin was err…kinda cliche, borderlining problematic (for today standards ofc). Sure, she evolved a lot but when we talk about movies, backstory is a huge point. So, a change comes. Let’s see some points.

Sonic 4 will follow probrally loosely the events of Sonic CD. That's my most safe bet. With Metal Sonic involved, I only can see this game as the base. But keep in mind the key-word here: base. The movies give me some strong reasons that Amy’s and backstory will be wildly different, while her personality could have some changes yet, keeping the core of Amy Rose. So, some changes:

Amy will be from the Little Planet. Amy Rose doesn’t have a home, so taking into account Sonic CD, this is what could be a good change, Little Planet can and is inhabited in the games, so can be in the movies too! Is a pretty big one too, because my next bet is…

Amy will find Sonic because she’s the guardian AND holder AND user of the Time Stones! See, remember the whole “find you because fate told me”? Can work with some changes that I will explain later!

Amy will PROTECT Sonic! You hear me right, Amy Rose in the movie universe will be a protector of this boy this time! 

With that explained, here my humble takes!

Amy will be a girly girl from the Little Planet, that still with her core traits: optimist, full of unconditional love, kind, hot-tempered, bold, fearless, proactive, energetic and with a huge amount of empathy. She is the girl we already know with an eagerness of adventure and unstoppable drive, great! 

To her life before chaos I have two lines:

She has been alone since…always. Sonic had Longclaw, Knuckles his tribe, Tails his village. Amy…had nobody. No origin or family. She grows up as an orphan and with no parental figure. We would see her living in some orphanage or an institution for kids like her. The point is that Amy would not have nobody and this makes a number on her. She wants help and to be there for people so much… because no one ever has been there for her. Would be a great contrast with everyone and Sonic, in particular. She loves the universe so much, yet… with no family or friends. (bonus point if she sees the Wachowski at some point with a found look wishing that she had a family too *cries*)

A bunch of messed up things happened that left her with anyone. Big tragedy here. Amy would have a good family but a disaster out of her control ripped them of her. In this case, the Metal Sonic army (more elaboration later). In this case, she also would lead with grif, but she would feel more the impotence in front of fate and tragedy, and this would mess her up. 

Or even can be none of this! 

So, Amy Rose is a kind, feisty and lovely girl that lives in her home: Little Planet. She would have some attachment issues, if for the reasons above or other, she would have them (some good material about this here and here). Amy would feel really bad about being alone, left behind and virtually, without anyone in the world, thinking that even longing for bonds, she is always left behind, leading to some issues and a sense of inferiority. Yet, Amy would love everyone and everything, seeing the best in all people and trusting that life can be good. She would be resilient and lovable.

Not only that, maybe because she would be an apprentice of the guardian (like Sonic and Longclaw) or by chance, but Amy also would know where lays the Time Stones. The central piece of her culture and the reason she believes times and fate is the answer to all. You can’t fight destiny, isn’t it?

Well, is all sun and rainbows in her life…

Until the plot happens :D 

The Metals Sonic would appear and dominate Little Planet, wanting the Time Stones to reign supreme, destroying all she ever knew. But Amy then got them first to discover a way to fix things and they show how: Metal Sonic can be defeated. What leads to the bad end is Sonic being defeated, so now she has to make sure he's alive. This blue boy became her hope and the girl now has a mission: find and protect Sonic.

Then Amy runs away to Earth at the current timeline with the help of  the Stones, at the same age and time as Sonic.

Now, she was truly alone, having to hide from the Metal Army that now made her a target, trying to always do good things to people but never staying for so long. Is dangerous. She is running from a powerful enemy and can’t stay with anyone.

She doesn't know how to find the blue hedgehog either.

The Time Stones would give only some flashes of Sonic and Amy has no courage to use them again, afraid of messing up the only change she has. As she grows up, they'd only give some glimpses of how Sonic is in the moment, and how he spent the most part of his life hiding, would make it pretty hard to find him.

Also would make her basically grow up along him and her only constant in life. In the flashes, Amy would always observe as if he was sad or happy, catch his little mannerisms and the people he sees. She finds him funny, a little lonely, and ultimately a good person. She sees his power and why he is the one who stops those machines. Amy really wants to talk to him.

He's on Earth like her. Is everything she knows.

Meanwhile she trained a lot. Being chased for your whole life teaches some tricks and Amy became very good at being under the radar. She learned how to elude the metal sonics even with the power of the Times Stones buzzing beneath her skin. She learned to fight with the hammer, the only thing she brought with her from home. How to use her chaos energy in her favor. 

A warrior made after years.

Is when the things with Shadow and the almost destruction of the Earth gave her the sign she needed and using the Time Stone, finally finds where Sonic would be.

So basically it would be this. Also, imo, Amy's conflict would be that she wants to save everyone from Metal Sonic. But she is also attached to Sonic and after basically growing up with him and seeing him with his family…let's say she doesn't feel exactly comfortable sending him to battle. Maybe also with some visions with him dying in the mix, and a Future that all is okay, but she dies instead and she prefers this than sending her lover one to danger thanks to some sacrificial tendences plus unconditional love PLUS nobody would care because everyone leaves her behind anyway and Sonic had so much to lose.

What would drive him crazy because he may or may not have fallen in love with her (if some media can do Sonamy right is the SCU and they are kinda confirmed to be a point of the movie so��yeah. My take on Sonamy is the old that fate brings us and we're doomed by the narrative. A classic. I could write a post about Sonamy in the SCU context and that could really work!)

Sonic Movie 3 spoilers/Sonic Movie 4 speculation

I just completed Sonic CD in like one sitting and I think with it being clear that it's a big influence moving forward (Amy and Metal being big focuses) I think it'd be really cool to feature the past/future system from the game... Wherein Sonic goes to the past and future in different zones, visiting the bad future that's all robotized etc. and so on... Because I think it'd be neat for Sonic to go to the past in Green Hills, meet an ancestor of Tom's (he said they'd always been guarding Green Hills for generations) and also go to a bad future where it's all industrialized, etc.

I was also thinking about how refreshing it'd be to follow up on the clear role reversal between Amy and Sonic that was established in the Sonic Movie 3 post-credits -- AKA when she rescues him from Metal rather than it being like the other way around in the games... I'd lowkey love for Amy to be from the future and be a kinda Sarah Connor in terms of being the badass that Sonic instantly starts fawning over and has a crush on. :')

I'm not sure how Robotnik would feature -- Though I really want him to -- I kinda thought about how it'd be interesting if the Ark explosion sent him either back or forwards in time (probably the latter) and he somehow created Metal. Either way I need a really emotional Stobotnik reunion. :') I miss my Eggman yaoi already...

SONIC MOVIE 4 THEORIES AND DISCUSSION

I just want to get my thoughts out somewhere, to anyone. Because I just love yapping and thinking about the cinematic universe of colourful cartoon animals lol.

Spoilers for the 3rd movie if you haven’t already watched it yet!

I’ve been viewing what other people are theorizing for the next movie, it’s really fun. So I thought I’d throw my thoughts out there and if I’m lucky, maybe spark more discussion.

I personally really liked Robotnik’s character arc and death, and agree that it would be disappointing if he revived a second time. But I think there’s a way to make Jim Carrey return without ruining that arc.

The fourth movie might be based on Sonic CD, and if I recall correctly- it had that whole gimmick of travelling to the past and future.

I’m on board with Agent Stone becoming more of a main antagonist in the next movie. So perhaps, in Agent Stone’s grief, he builds Metal Sonic and seeks a way to manipulate time itself so he can go back and save Robotnik. Obviously it will fail in the end and Robotnik would still die or be sent back to the right timeline where he is dead, but it would be a way for Robotnik to return for another movie while keeping the character dead.

And with jumping into the past and altering the future and stuff, this might also allow Silver to join in! I think I saw somewhere that the writers were open to adding him into the cinematic universe.

The fourth movie could be a mash of Sonic 06, Sonic CD, and Sonic Heroes (if they decide to follow Metal Sonic’s character from Heroes). They’ve already established the movies as their own thing, so it’s not too far fetched to believe the next movie will be more original.

The problems that arise in this speculation is that 1) that’s a lot of characters to focus on in one movie, and 2) it’s a pretty complicated plot for one movie + they might not want to deviate so far from the games that it would upset the Sonic fans. Mixing all those games into one might be too confusing and messy.

But even so, it’s also possible the fourth movie sets up a fifth movie and maybe a plot like this could continue in the fifth movie. I dunno though, seems like a stretch.

I’d love to hear what other people think, though!

SONIC 3 MIDCREDITS SPOILERS (also Sonic 4 speculation)

Two theories/speculation:

1. The New York State Park sign will be replaced with an advertisement for Eggman Land in the actual movie

2. We will get a Sonic.EXE reference. Metal Sonic will hack into some computer or upload himself into a new body, and on the screen it’ll say something like “MetalSonic.EXE has been uploaded” or something like that

Oh Sonic 4 is definetly a Sonic CD reference like

These 2 in one post credits scene, army of Metal Sonics???? That's just a set up for a plot based on Sonic CD

This is like probably a bad future at best because Our Robotnik is dead dead dead so best plot line for them to bring him back is about timelines! Trust the Sonic Movie Crew is smart to not completely eradicate Eggman in their movies and further they physically cant because of how vital that Doctor is

Also robotnik is like absolutely dead they gotta pull up a [IVE COME TO MAKE AN ANNOUNCEMENT] [BUT AT WHAT COST], him helping the gang and the emphasis on Stone and Robotnik on that scene?? That's a declaration of DOOMED Toxic Old Man Yaoi to tell us on how dead that Robotnik is

And my big guess or speculation <<that I simply wanna imagine >>goes like this

>A timeline where Eggman took over the world and starts taking over the universe cause what else can he do??? Sonic does exist[probably not anymore though] in that timeline of course where will be the influence to make Metal Sonic come from — that's an important plot detail that Sonic does exist in that timeline as Amy or Metal Sonic shouldn't be finding our Sonic in the first place

>Maybe Tails and Knuckles don't exist in that timeline since the two are important in Sonic's life plus Knuckles' emergency moments like bad stuff happen if Knuckles didn't go in when they were stuck on that gravitational force, there wont be better outcomes for team sonic, Tails and Sonic would be dead without Knuckles coming in to summon the Ring Teleportation, and We are all doomed if Knuckles didn't interrupt Robotnik in his Master Emerald mode. There's also Tails cause cmon. The brains what can they do without him

Also a reference to the making of Sonic CD and Sonic 2 that both are sequels to Sonic 1 as on that point developers from both games don't know the existence of the characters introduced from both games or have their characters co exist at the time and Sonic 3 is a follow up to Sonic 2 so that also proves my point that 2/3 of Team Sonic is just gone on that Bad Future plot

Sonic Movie Franchise: 2nd Trilogy Predictions

Obviously, spoilers for Sonic 3 inbound. Read at your own risk XD

All righty, everyone out? Good. Now, let's talk predictions! I'm assuming that everyone here has seen the credits scenes of Sonic 3, and I've been cooking up some ideas as to where the plotlines of future movies could go, even without Eggman as the main villain. We can't hold Jim Carrey hostage forever, after all XD

So obviously we're going to get both Amy and Metal Sonic for Sonic 4. The question is, what game plotline will they be adapting, if any at all? Well, here's my theory/pitch for what Sonic 4 could be.

Metal and Amy both debuted in Sonic CD, a game that heavily used time travel in its plot. Given the fact that Metal found Sonic in what seems to be mere days after the Eclipse Cannon crisis, it almost seems to be too fast for him to have just sprung up on his own. We know that Eggman himself was mostly just wallowing in his defeat at the hands of Super Sonic, so why would he have built a mechanical Sonic and not use him at all in 3's events? Furthermore, where did the 'lesser' Metal Sonic drones come from, and how was it that Amy found Sonic mere moments after Metal did?

My theory is that this Metal Sonic was created by some future version of Eggman, potentially from an alternate timeline, and was sent back in time to just after the events of the Eclipse Cannon. And given how experienced Amy seems to be at handling the Metal Horde, it's possible that she hails from this future as well. I mean, I know she's a massive Sonic fangirl, but it's significantly less probable for her to find him in this universe as opposed to someone like Tails.

As for Metal's role in Sonic 4... I personally hope that he ends up being the main villain. He has so much potential to be more than just Eggman's lackey, especially with his story in Sonic Heroes. I theorize that Sonic 4's story could end up being some kind of combination of both CD and Heroes, with Metal aiming to take over Eggman's position of power and copy everyone's abilities, becoming the true ultimate life form. It also seems like they could be taking inspiration from the Metallix from the Fleetway comics, which would also be incredibly cool.

This could also be a 2nd chance to use the missed opportunity that was Neo Metal Sonic, having that be the final form for Metal instead of the Metal Overlord. Although if they wanted to include it, the Metal Overlord/Metallic Madness could be some kind of metallic kaiju that Metal builds himself to fight the heroes while he stays in his Neo form.

And with that out of the way, I hope you're prepared for even wilder speculation regarding the next two movies! XD There was a vague hint about Shadow's origin in Sonic 3 when they mentioned he fell to Earth in a meteor, which looked suspiciously like a miniature Black Comet. I believe that they could be setting up some kind of Black Arms invasion for a more Shadow-centric Sonic 5. The reason I'm pushing this back to a 5th movie is because it would be incredibly difficult to mash both Metal Sonic and the Black Arms into a single Sonic 4. This is also a chance to integrate Rouge and Omega into the story as Shadow's own team, separate from Sonic's.

(Though now that I think about it, if Paramount does opt for a Shadow/Knuckles tv show, that could take its time to focus on a Black Arms storyline instead. However, this is currently in wild unbased speculation territory.)

As for the final movie in the trilogy... I'm honestly not sure. I have two vague ideas as to what the villain could be, as without Eggman as a factor (even with the possibility of an evil future version of him, somewhat similar to Eggman Nega) the options are somewhat limited. My top two picks are either Dark Gaia or Chaos as the final villain, though considering how the movies scale things I think that Chaos could be more likely, as I don't think they'd be quite bold enough to shatter Earth into 7 pieces just like that.

But both of them offer opportunities to explore more alien lore and more things revolving around the Chaos/Master Emerald as well. Another reason I say Chaos is more likely is because while Unleashed has a great story, it's mainly focused on Sonic and Chip as opposed to the more team/family-centric themes that the movies like to focus on. In that vein of thought, the defeat of Chaos with the positive energies of the Emeralds feels more in line with that family dynamic the movies tend to lean towards.

Buuuut those are just my thoughts. What do y'all think?

I saw a reel today that said the 4th movie will come out in March 21 (?) Do you think it's possible? As far as I know, they haven't said anything about the official date but just mentioned spring.

Hmm…. I think that I would double check that source if you’ve found it on Instagram. I haven’t heard anything about Sonic 4 releasing in March. There is, however, lots of speculation that I’m hearing for it to drop in May of 2027. I say this due to a lack in general audience movies being released around that time.

It sounds like a very good guess, but I would be hesitant on trusting the source.

So I see everyone talking about what they hope and don't hope the movies do with Amy. I come to a conclusion that I think could work (in my opinion):

Amy is the one who falls and crushes on Sonic first. She's sweet and obviously tries to flirt with Sonic, but he will be too oblivious at first because, hey, he hasn't had much socialization with other hedgehogs.

Amy: Wow! Sonic, you're so amazingly cool!

I just had this idea and i have to share with the class. spoilers for Sonic 3 and the post credits scene!!

so! I originally thought that they would opt to follow the plot of Sonic CD, as this is when both Amy and Metal Sonic are introduced. However, I think they could also take inspiration from the Sonic OVA and i have a little theory,,

in the past two movies (Sonic 2&3), Sonic reaches out a hand to his rival as a peace gesture (He wants Knuckles to join him in stopping Eggman, and he wants Shadow to not feel alone anymore).

In the OVA, Metal Sonic becomes severely damanged, and ends up falling into a giant crater full of lava. Sonic dives in to save him, and very famously reaches out his hand, begging Metal to take it. But Metal swats him away, saying "There can only be one Sonic..."

This poses a great switch on what we have grown to expect, and would also make for a great little twist! Metal Sonic is the rival who is most like Sonic, being a literal copy of him.

Also if Amy is following the path of Princess Peach (strong independent girlboss gatekeep girlie for the girls), having her arc be the same as CD wouldn't make sense. Amy was also a damsel in distress, so they would have to change this up. This could mean inspiration from her recent development; Sonic Boom comes to mind and some good characterisation for her, along with Frontiers.

Sonic 4 Inspiration Theories - *Warning* Sonic 3 Spoilers Ahead

I must be honest with you; my trivia knowledge of the Sonic franchise is very limited as I've really only started enjoying the Sonic Cinematic Universe film and haven't had much to do with the Sonic games, cartoons and comics. All of the references I'm using are sourced from online and clips I've seen on YouTube. So, if I get something wrong information wise, please be gentle and understanding towards me. Either way, I'm certainly curious to hear what Sonic fans think of my fan theories for Sonic the Hedgehog 4, coming out in 2027.

Rumoured Sonic Games to be referenced in Sonic 4:

Many Sonic fans have speculated that Sonic the Hedgehog 4 will be mostly inspired by Sonic the Hedgehog CD (Amy Rose and Metal Sonic's first game appearances) and Sonic Adventure which is the first time that Amy became a playable character.

While the movie might not be an exact copy of Sonic the Hedgehog CD as Amy Rose is planned out as a more active character and less of a damsel in distress, there is a possibility that they could add the time travel dimension of the story. Though I hope the story also brings its own brand originality to suit the franchise.

It has been confirmed by the Sonic writers that they plan on taking future Sonic movies to other worlds. Whether they happen right away in Sonic 4 or will be planned out for other future movies, I feel this will be an interesting addition to the movies and create a lot more exciting adventures for Sonic and his team.

Of course, this is all just speculation for now. We'll have to wait until 2027 to get confirmation on whether these rumours are true.

Jim Carrey has expressed interest in returning for Sonic 4, but it's yet to be confirmed yet if Jim Carrey will be returning to the Sonic franchise. The actor has expressed interest in retiring at some stage but has postponed his retirement on multiple occasions to work on the Sonic films. Though he jokes it's for momentary gain, it's pretty obvious he's having the time of his life working on the Sonic set and would be interested in future projects if the plot allows him to return.

Due the character's supposed untimely death (which seems more final than the 2nd movie) and had a redemption arc to a certain extent, I'm not sure if the original Dr Robotnik will be making another comeback. Of course, if Jim Carrey does return to the franchise, there's always the possibility that he could play another alternate version of Robotnik or one of his future descendants, e.g. Dr. Eggman Nega. If this is true, the question is, did he create the Metal Sonics or were they possibly the work of another Sonic villain? Either way, I'm curious to learn if Dr. Robotnik will return as a redeemed character or continue to play his role as a villain.

If they do redeem Dr. Robotnik in future movies I imagine he'll be portrayed as a neutral character who isn't exactly friends with Sonic but at the same time isn't out to get him anymore either. I personally imagine him being somewhat like Discord from the later seasons of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic as an example. Maybe a little bit like his Sonic Boom persona.

Sonic storylines I hope they adapt for Sonic 4:

Seeing the more capable warrior of Amy Rose in the Sonic 3 post-credits scene gives me the impression that she could come from a warrior tribe similar to Knuckles, though her hooded cape gives her a more mysterious and possibly mystical quality to her backstory.

In the early Sonic the Hedgehog tv series and Archie comics there was a group known as The Freedom Fighters who fought for freedom from Dr. Robotnik's reign of terror in the Mobian Kingdom. It had a nature vs technology theme to it which I think could play well for Amy's character even now.

While the original group of Freedom Fighter characters have been scrapped from the Sonic canon (including Sonic's then girlfriend, Princess Sally Acorn), the concept of The Freedom Fighters has been rebooted to a different group called The Resistance.

This group has been used the game Sonic Forces and was also called Sonic's Army as it was formed by Knuckles after Sonic went missing and Eggman's henchman, Infinite started a world-domination with his own army, Eggman Army. I could definitely see this being adapted nicely in Sonic 4 if they want to go for an alternate future storyline.

Sonic Prime has also used the Resistance concept in their story, though it was different from Sonic Forces version:

Personally, I feel that a Sonic Cinematic Universe version of the Resistance could really bring a lot to the franchise in terms exploring other worlds and also give more depth to Amy's backstory and also Sonic's.

The only storyline I absolutely don't want them to bring to Sonic 4 is Amy Rose using the Rings of Age of Acorns to age herself up. Personally, I hope that Amy will be a natural teenager like Sonic and will age naturally as such. I don't mind them using her old Sonic the Hedgehog CD look for her younger self in flashbacks, but I honestly hope that she ages naturally as Sonic does.

I am hoping they'll explore more of Sonic's backstory in future Sonic films and see more of his childhood with Long Claw. I am personally curious to learn how the young hedgehog came into her care. I have 3 theories as to how Sonic came into her care:

Sonic was found on her doorstep as a baby and Long Claw took it on herself to raise the young hedgehog. It was only as he grew up that his powers awakened, and Long Claw feared for her adoptive son's life as result. Sadly, her fear was a reason that Sonic didn't learn to use his powers properly at the time.

Perhaps Long Claw personally knew Sonic's parents (or at least one of them) and was entrusted by them to take care of Sonic and to help him better control his powers.

Maybe they were killed in a siege of their home and Long Claw found Sonic alone after the siege and decided to adopt him as her own.

Possibly Sonic's biological parents were killed by a dangerous enemy out to capture Sonic and take his powers from him. They could have died trying to protect him. For me I believe this story is the most likely possibility.

There's also the possibility that one or both of them could still be alive and are just waiting for the right time for their son to return to them when he's ready. In previous Sonic media, Sonic had two different mothers depending on the storyline. In the Sonic Underground tv series and comics, Sonic was a triplet prince whose mother was Queen Aleena Hedgehog. Though this was not a popular storyline, I find the idea of Sonic having royal blood to be interesting and may give some explanation to his powers.

In the Archie comics his mother is a Freedom Fighters leader, Bernadette Hedgehog, who I assume was inspiration for Longclaw and/or Tom and Maddie.

Of course, a child abandonment story could be more complicated plot wise as I'm sure Sonic would have reasons to resent his biological parents, and they'll have a lot make up for. Considering that Sonic is quite happily settled with his new adoptive parents, Tom and Maddie, I think bringing his biological parents into the mix might make things more complicated. If they are mentioned, I think they ought to be just mentioned in passing and/or in flashbacks.

Po's backstory from Kung Fu Panda 2 is a good example of how Sonic's childhood could be fleshed out.

Another could be Disney's Tarzan where Long Claw finds Sonic alone like Kala does with Tarzan.

BESTIE, what was your favorite part of the movie and any predictions for Sonic 4?

ooooh OKAY I love love LOVED the montages with Maria. Not sure why she couldn't be ill in some way that didn't involve the gravitational effects allegedly nullified by living on the ARK, but eh. Those scenes gave such a nice glimpse at a different side of Shadow; in some shots, his expression almost made him look like a completely different character from the Shadow in the present. Super cool.

As for Sonic 4... I'm *tempted* to think it'll be loosely based around Sonic CD, but with the way Amy was introduced, I've seen some other folks speculate that it'll be more Heroes-coded. It'll probably take influences from both (especially if we end up getting a Shadow show in the interim, cough cough) and form its own thing. A part of me also thinks that the core theme of it might be for Sonic to further his independence, as seems to be a theme following through from 2 and 3; the more he hangs around his team, the less he hangs around Tom and Maddie, and that's not bad! It's just a part of growing up. Depending on how Amy is portrayed, it could definitely happen. (I shudder to make the comparison, but think Bo Peep from TS4, I guess.)
