Purring had always been a comfort to him.

He knew why, of course. Purring released endorphins throughout a Mobian’s system that soothed anxiety and even had a healing effect. He had done the research one day when he was bored and his naturally curious mind wanted to know why a simple rumbling sensation so easily lulled him to sleep.

But he never really liked that answer for some reason. It was too impersonal.

Sometimes, back when he was alone, he would purr when he was really hurt. When it wasn’t something he could just walk off.

He’d crawl to the nearest hidey hole, curl up as tight as he possibly could, and just purr.

It was forced and scratchy, but it still made him feel better. If it made his battered body hurt a little less, he didn’t care about what it sounded like. It's not like anyone else would hear it anyway.

But then he met Sonic.

The memory was a little fuzzy considering how young he had been, but he could remember all the important parts.

Sonic saving him from the creeps who were beating him, finding the damaged Tornado on the beach, and the hedgehog offering to take the kit along with him.

He remembered how Sonic had been haloed in the sunlight as his hand reached down towards him. He took his hand, a mixture of anxiety and wonder swirling in his stomach as the Tornado flew further and further from West Side Island.

He hadn’t purred in a long time when it happened, even when he was far into traveling with Sonic, he didn’t purr.

He didn’t think he needed to anymore, he wasn’t hurt anymore and any nightmare he had were chased away by Sonic reaching down and scritching behind his ear. The hedgehog had promised him that no one was going to hurt him anymore, not while he was around.

One night, however, Sonic had gotten hurt.

He refused to see a doctor, saying how he could just walk it off, but the kit knew that wasn’t true.

So that night, when he saw the hedgehog wincing in pain as he tried to settle down for the night, he curled up next to him and started purring.

He hoped it would help the one who gave him everything he never thought he deserved feel better, he owed it to him.

Sonic saved him from his home island, the least he could do was make him hurt less.

And it worked, much to his delight.

So as Tails laid here, wrapped in an embrace that was somehow so loose and so tight at the same time, he purred.

It hurt, it hurt a lot, but he still did it.

If it would help make his big brother feel better, he would do it as long as he possibly could.

He would purr, even as Sonic’s voice died down and his hand stopped petting him…

He would purr, even as his own body slowly gave up on him…

And he would purr, even if the body he clung to couldn’t feel it anymore.

It was the least he could do for the one who gave him everything…

Even when he deserved nothing.

not to overthink the silly hedgehog show for children but i'm still thinking about the last ep of prime......and i still think it would have been so killer if sonic had asked shadow to look after nine. nine regrets his actions but everyone is still super angry at him (shadow included!!) and sonic knows it might get uhhh dicey for nine at this point. and no matter how much shadow wants to throw nine into the crevasse and let him rot there, sonic knows that if he asks, if he reminds shadow that it's the right thing to do, shadow would keep nine safe. from the others, if not from nine's own worst impulses. just the idea that sonic is thinking he really might not make it out of this one but he has these two loose ends - shadow and nine - and even if they want to kill each other, he can make sure they've got support, instead. sonic knowing that it would make shadow SO ANGRY to be put in that position, but knowing that he would do it anyway.

It was a decently nice day outside.

But the weather outside didn’t matter much to you; after all, you were in a mall with your partners, Sonic and Shadow!

They already ran off to get their own things in a competition to see who could get you the best gift, leaving you to shop on your own.

While shopping, curiosity got the better of you and you decided to check out the small pet adoption center in the mall.

The first thing that catches your attention is the hedgehogs.

The owner notices you looking at them and chuckles.

“I see you quite like hedgehogs,” the owner says.

“They’re adorable, to be fair,” you respond, and the owner nods.

“Would you like to hold them?” the owner asks.

You nod, and the owner (her tag reading “Debra”) gently picks up the two hedgehogs, allowing you to hold one in each of your palms.

“Do they have names?” you ask.

“This one is Sonic,” Debra starts, pointing at the one on your left palm, before pointing at the other one. “And this one is Shadow.”

“How ironic!” you say. “...Could I possibly adopt both of them?”

“Of course! Just follow me for the paperwork,” Debra says, leading you over to the counter.

You set the two hedgies into a carrier that Debra sets out, filling out the paperwork necessary, changing their names to “Sonic Jr.” and “Shadow Jr.”, and paying the required amount, setting the adoption in stone.

“Have a nice day! And take good care of them!” Debra says, waving bye to you as you leave.

“I will! Thank you again!” you say. “Now to get you two a big enclosure!”

Not long after you get home, you start to make part of your room to a hedgehog enclosure, giving them both plenty of room to run around, play, and nest.

While playing with Sonic Jr., someone suddenly knocks on your door, and you go over and open it.

It happens to be Sonic and Shadow, the both of them holding flowers for you.

“Hey [Name]! Sorry it took us so long, we ended up just getting you flowers, hehe,” Sonic says, rubbing the back of his neck.

“It’s no problem at all, I appreciate them regardless,” you say, moving so the two of them can come in, the both of them giving you the bouquets.

A small squeak from your bedroom catches your attention, and it seems Sonic Jr. fell onto his back.

You rush over and gently put him back upright, with him making a squeak of happiness.

“What the hell are those,” Shadow asks.

“Oh, these two? These are my pet hedgehogs,” you say. “Sonic Jr. and Shadow Jr. respectively.”

“Aww! Where’d you get these cuties?!” Sonic asks, picking up Shadow Jr. suddenly.

Shadow Jr. retaliates by biting Sonic’s finger, causing him to yelp.

You gently take Shadow Jr. off of Sonic’s finger, putting him back in the enclosure.

Shadow lets out a snicker as Sonic pouts.

“Sorry, he tends to do that when scared,” you tell him. “Meanwhile Sonic Jr. curls into a ball, hehe.”

“Did you get them while we were at the mall?” Shadow asks.

“Yep! There was a small adoption center and these two were in there,” you tell him. “I couldn’t resist.”

“Well, you better not forget to hang out with us as well!” Sonic says.

“‘Course I wouldn’t, silly hog,” you say. “I love you both too much.”

“I love the both of you, too!” Sonic replies.

“You two are…tolerable, I suppose,” Shadow jokes. “One more so than the other.”

“Hey! What’s that supposed to mean?!” Sonic asks, causing you to giggle.

You loved these two hedgies.

Boom!Shadow is absolutely evil for no reason, and that's what makes him so absurdly entertaining. Sonic doesn’t even bother denying or refuting accusations because, honestly, what’s the point? Shadow will believe the first thing he hears, get irrationally angry when it turns out wrong, threaten to blow up the universe in retaliation, and then, without explanation, change his mind entirely. Why waste the effort trying to connect with someone like that? Sonic’s got better things to do—he has a brain, after all, unlike Shadow, who seems to operate solely on misguided rage and over-the-top dramatics.

Sonic, with his sharp wit and easygoing nature, would absolutely take Shadow’s impulsive, overly dramatic tendencies in stride. He wouldn’t waste time arguing with someone who’s so quick to leap to conclusions and act on them—especially when Shadow's solution is always something over-the-top, like destroying the universe or brooding in the corner about betrayal that didn’t even happen.

It’s both hilarious and tragic: Sonic understands Shadow better than Shadow understands himself, but he knows there’s no reasoning with someone who’s determined to be wrong and angry about it. So why bother refuting the accusations? Let Shadow stew in his own mess—Sonic has a chili dog to eat.

Shadow’s whole "I’m evil because I feel like it" vibe is an endless goldmine for exploration. It makes their relationship as rivals (or allies or more) so compelling because Sonic can be patient, clever, or downright trollish in his approach, while Shadow inevitably spirals into chaos. And somehow, they always meet in the middle when it matters, like they’re two sides of the same coin.

This sums up Boom!Shadow so well—he's such a caricature of his usual brooding self that his absurdity becomes the highlight. It's like he’s a self-parody, taking everything that makes Shadow "Shadow" and cranking it up to eleven for no discernible reason other than sheer chaos. His irrational anger and snap decisions are so overblown they border on comedic genius.

And Sonic? He’s just sitting there, probably eating a chili dog, watching Shadow unravel, like, "This is your circus, and those are your monkeys, dude. I’m not getting involved." It’s a perfect dynamic because Sonic’s refusal to engage only fuels Shadow’s fire, making him even more hilariously unhinged.

The best part is that Sonic clearly knows how ridiculous Shadow is but lets him dig his own grave every time. He’s clever enough to realize that trying to reason with Shadow would be like arguing with a storm—pointless and exhausting. So instead, Sonic just leans back and lets Shadow spiral, knowing full well that, eventually, Shadow will blow up the metaphorical universe and then quietly put it back together like nothing happened.

“Yohohohoho!! SH-SHADOW!!” Sonic screeched, kicking wildly from where he was pinned under the Ultimate Life Form himself—who, despite being all broody and dramatic 99% of the time, now had the smuggest smirk on his face as his gloved fingers dug mercilessly into Sonic’s sides.

“You should’ve known better,” Shadow said coolly, as if he wasn’t absolutely wrecking the fastest hedgehog alive with nothing but ten fingers and a mission. “Calling me ‘edgy mcbroodster’ in front of Rouge and then speeding off like I wouldn’t catch you.”

“I D-I DIHIHIDN’T THINK YOU’D— NAHAHA NOT THEHEHERE!!”

Shadow had found it. That spot. Right above Sonic’s hips where the blue blur always lost it. Sonic's legs thrashed like crazy, nearly kicking a poor innocent bush nearby.

“You’re incredibly ticklish, you know,” Shadow mused, now teasing slow scribbles along Sonic’s waistline that had the poor hero howling with laughter. “It’s fascinating.”

“YOU’RE EHEHEVIL!!” Sonic wailed, tears starting to gather at the corners of his eyes. “TH-THIS IS A VIOLATION OF HEDGEHOG CODE!!”

Shadow raised an eyebrow. “I was not made aware of such a code.”

“YOU WROTE IT!!” Sonic gasped through a fit of giggles.

That earned a rare, quiet snort from Shadow, who—despite pretending to be all serious—was 100% enjoying this.

“Maybe next time,” Shadow said calmly, now fluttering his fingers along Sonic’s belly (which got him a shriek and a very kicked-up foot), “you’ll think twice before taunting someone faster than you.”

“FAHAHASTER MY BUHUHUT!!” Sonic tried to retort, but Shadow just gave him the look.

“You ran. I caught you. I win.” Shadow punctuated each sentence with a playful poke—side, side, tummy, ribs—which made Sonic squeal like a chew toy.

“ALRIGHT—OHOHOHOHO-KAHAHAHAY!!” Sonic cried, curling in on himself. “MERCY, MERCY!!”

Shadow paused, still pinning Sonic gently in place, watching as the other hedgehog lay there a giggly, panting mess with a grin stretched ear to ear.

“Had enough?” he asked, voice low but not unkind.

Sonic nodded furiously. “Y-Yeah... yeah, you got me, alright... jeez…”

Shadow sat back, crossing his arms. “Good.”

There was a pause.

Then Sonic grinned. A little too smugly. “...Still worth it though.”

Shadow blinked.

“Oh no you don’t—”

“EEEEP!!”

Sonic zoomed out from under him in a streak of blue, laughing wildly as he ran circles around the clearing. Shadow just stood, dusting himself off, already preparing Chaos Control.

“Come back here, hedgehog,” he said, smirking.

you and Chris' 6 year old son, Mason, asks as he is sitting in designated spot on the couch in the living room across the way from the kitchen where you and chris were currently stationed.

"um we can i guess"

you shrug looking at Chris as he grabs his phone to text Matt.

"you didnt want to go get frozen yogurt today Mas"

chris asks as you two make your way over to the couch.

"no i do we should just invite Cooper"

You ask comfortingly rubbing your ringed palm on your son’s knee.

“Only if mason wants to go”

Cooper lovingly answers.

Mason grins out as cooper gives him an excited side hug as they get up and start scurrying in that direction.

Mason screams at cooper alarming you guys at the parents.

cooper mumbles out as they are both focused on the show in front of them. Matt and his wife had went out of town for the week leaving you and Chris to watch Cooper all week. Which Mason was over the moon about since they were two peas in a pod.

you chuckle out intently watching the pair hyperfocused on the show. Mason quickly lets out a sneeze.

chris chuckles as he slightly combs his fingers in his hair, feeling the temperature of his forehead.

When he was defeated and brought back to the emerald city the citizens and the emerald council, understandably, tried to have him executed but fortunately Tails was able to get them to compromise and have Sonic do community service to make up for his crimes

Im also thinking that the council put an illusion around Sonic to make him not green to make him look less 'off-putting” -cough cough- Sonic was not happy about it and is basically foaming at the mouth in rage, fortunately for the council they had repaired and adjusted Sonic’s inhibitors so he can’t use magic period.

Sonic pretty much hated the council even before this, even when he was a witch apprentice for many reasons so now they're just gonna keep digging, taking advantage of the fact he can’t kill them in retaliation

So he’s seething and Tails decides to be cautiously optimistic, after all he can be near Sonic without bring burned to a crisp, that’s progress!!

Tails: (awkwardly smiles at Sonic) look at us both living in the emerald city castle… doesn’t it remind you of old times?

Sonic: …you know that i don’t need my magic to kill you, right?

Tails: (nervously sweating) uuuuuuuh-

Tails is very unsafe and Sonic’s gonna keep trying to murder him to make himself feel better. They had to get this guy’s claws trimmed cuz he tried to claw Tails’s non-prosthetic eye out

This just keeps escalating into the many wacky ways they’re gonna have to restrain sonic as his murder attempts get more and more creative. Every time he does this he’s put in gay baby jail as a time out

Hes both frustrated by his murder attempts being thwarted and smug that they can’t find a way to make him stop trying

Whenever they play an outdoor game like Hide and Seek or Tag, it’s a battle to the death to achieve victory. Sonic usually wins the most bc he’s the fastest, so the one ace in his sleeve that Tails learned to pull is the waterworks. Sonic find him during hide and seek? Tears. Sonic is close to tagging him? Tails will fall down and pretend to get hurt and start sobbing. Sonic falls for it every time.

Doing laundry? They make it last for hours on end bc they’ll literally take each others stuff out of the wash mid cycle to out their own in. It pisses the other off so much to the point where they’re constantly stopping the wash to switch out the clothes. Oh, Sonic is washing his old blue hoodie??? Too bad, Tails yanks it out of the washing machine sopping wet and drops it on the floor with a splat to put his blanket in. They know that they can probably just wash their stuff together but it’s funnier this way.

They’re play fighting and Tails learned to do that infamous leg kick. You know the move you do when you’re cornered on your back? He just starts kicking his legs at full speed and Sonic starts screaming bc it’s nearly impossible to get past that move.

Sonic is eating chips and he has dust all over his hands? He purposely bypasses the numerous napkins they have just to go up to Tails and wipe his hands over his head to have the chip dust fall on top of him. Tails retaliates by shaking the empty chip bag over Sonic’s head.

Tails is an avid coffee drinker and Sonic has tried everything to stop his addiction. So he tries the famous ‘replace the sugar with salt’ trick to mess with him. One morning Tails puts the salt in instead and when he takes a sip Sonic already had that shit eating grin on his face. Tails immediately spits the coffee in his face and Sonic fall to the ground screaming.

Tails take advantage of his shorter height and sneakiness to kneel down and tie Sonic’s shoe laces. He’ll fall face first and before Tails can book it away Sonic will stick his leg out and make his brother fall too.

Their favorite way to embarrass the other is going onto each others social media accounts and changing something about their profile. Tails logs on one day and finds that his profile picture had been changed to an embarrassing photo Sonic took of him one day and PROMISED not to show anyone else. Sonic goes into his Twitter and for some reason there’s hundreds of posts hyping up Eggman and basically talking about how Eggman is the best/greatest, etc. His profile, header- everything is basically changed to pro-Eggman propaganda.

Fans: are you and Eggman friends now???

Sonic: I was hacked I would never say this shit pls you gotta believe me 😭

Tails LOVES bringing up the ‘divorced parents’ story whenever someone asks about the relationship between him and Sonic. Like Sonic is about to explain how Tails is his adoptive brother and Tails immediately interrupts and says, “Yeah, this is my dad. He got custody of me after the divorce and it’s been really hard lately so try to be nice to him ok? :(“

They’re eating out at a diner/restaurant and Sonic looooves secretly telling the waiters that it’s Tail’s birthday so they’ll do that embarrassing thing of coming to their table and singing happy birthday in front of the whole restaurant. Tails is mortified and covers his face every time and Sonic will record the whole thing like a corny parent and say “Oh he’s just a little shy! Smile at the camera Tails!1!!1!! 😁”

okay. i tried to answer this at an earlier time but my entire response deleted 🤩 BUT i decided to take some extra time to put some special care in (aka adding ✨️ pictures !! ✨️). anyway, you have no idea how much this rotates in mine !! idk if this is common knowledge, but team sonic racing is genuinely the reason i rediscovered shadamy and fell into the sonic fandom in the first place. i grew up on the sonic racing games, they hold such a special place in my heart 🥹🩷

so behold, as bee talks, at length, about tsr and how this can best be interpreted for further shadamy banter because she has no self-control or sense of brevity

shadow and amy’s connection pre-tsr is only a small handful of interactions based on acts of kindness, trust and respect. but then this game comes along and gives us something else : playful banter

amy is a lot harder to speak on, as her playful jibes extend to the majority of the cast (a true feast for your multishipping needs <3) but she gets the opportunity to unleash her more competitive side, which i feel is somewhere between hardcore and social in this game. with shadow, a lot of her lines aren't too harsh on him, but when they are,, she's actively wanting him to give it back. i'll do a few little dialogue dissections further down, since what and how she speaks to him is quite interesting

as for shadow, the difference is a lot clearer and HE is the reason why i'm on the shadamy train. what he says to amy is just— i'll get to that. his wit in tsr alone is nothing short of caustic. he rips into his opponents with little care - telling them to suck it up or dishing out backhanded comments. but amy ? oh, he puts a little more care into his words with her. he knows and means exactly what he says and he's even a little smug ! he can get into teasing with her without being downright mean (actually, in retrospect i that might be a lie. in my gameplay experience he's never been rude to her). this side of shadow was almost completely lost after sa2 and heroes, so for his character alone, these little moments where he can be a little silly again is so great (my blorbo, my scrunkly <3)

now who would i be if i didn't do full-on voice line dissections (it's the english/actor kid in me, i fear). of course my word is not gospel and i am just cherry-picking lines and looking at them through the shadamy lens, so feel free to take my analyses with a grain of salt if you want :)

she's so egging him on. if it were anyone else, i'm sure they wouldn't get away with it, but amy ?? oh, she can prod away with him. she wants him to retaliate in this low-stakes situation. she's inviting him to the fun !! she's the cutest <3

look at the competitive edge coming in ! maybe she's trying to tell him she's more than capable of crushing him (which i'm sure he's aware of). it's both a warning and an encouragement to face her

ooohhh boy. her tone in this one is lower, level; challenging. this girl wants the "ultimate life form" to live up to the name, to back up what he preaches and— no way this wouldn't kick him into gear. that's such a splinter under the skin type of comment. if anyone can get through to shadow, it's amy (i am very much a broken record on that one lmao). think what you want about this statement but i'm also giving it the innuendo eyes 👀

oh come on, shadow full well knows amy isn’t afraid to get her hands dirty. shadow in any other case treats her like a lady better than most. this is a tease, a pisstake, if you will 🤭 point is, i don't think he's actually all that mad about her giving him a good one-two on the track

okay, in all fairness this seems a tad rude, but hear me out. shadow's obviously regarding amy's poor performance here. BUT. i like to think he holds amy in high regard — an equal, dare i say — and seeing her show anything that's sub-par probably disappoints him as much as it would as if it were him in her place. i want to interpret this one as pushing her to be the best she can be because he knows she's a worthy opponent / ally

when i said he was the reason i'm on the shadamy train, THIS was the comment that sold me. go ahead, tell me this isn't banter. tell me this isn't teasing. tell me this isn't a blatant innuendo. do WHAT, shadow ? want to explain that one to the class or— ? jokes aside, not only is he teasing her, he enjoys getting a reaction from her, else what does he mean by "i can do this all day" ? no, he wants to. what he'd do to get amy to react so animatedly . . . he wants to be the one eliciting these reactions from her.

. . . or something. like i said, salt grains, but that's the subtext i get

TL;DR : i think it best comes through where they can be competitive and not too serious about it. see reckless challenges, teasing jabs and subtle innuendos ;)

this "well-struck" comment from the crossworld previews really sits right with me overall, shipping goggles or not. shadow still shows he respects amy and treats her as an equally formidable opponent and that's something i really love about their dynamic : they never undermine or underestimate each other

all in all, i am so excited to see what crumbs crossworlds has for us !! i am itching with all the possibilities. it's so nice to see these two cut loose and interact, however briefly <3

I know it was a post you reblogged rather than made, but are you willing to do headcanons for the Sonic characters? Shadow didn't get his own section, just mentions in the other 3, and I refuse to believe there wasn't any tickle fights between him and Maria.

Movie!Shadow Tickle Headcanons

This is low hanging fruit i know but Maria 100% taught him what tickling was and that he was ticklish

The two were watching a movie in her room and a tickle scene came on for just a few seconds, but it was enough to make him curious about it

it took Maria a good while to find a suitable explanation because??? how does one break down and explain the concept of tickling and being ticklish??? Eventually she decided it would be better to show him

He still doesn't get it at first because she has to look for a spot (his sides surprisingly aren't that ticklish), but a few scritches on his stomach and he got the idea pretty quickly

Something fun they (read: Maria) liked to do was pretend to do doctor check-ups. Similar to what scientists on the ARK already did, but in a lot less stuffy/sterile environment. And all the "tests" are just Maria seeing what all she can get away with before the hedgehog starts fighting back.

Such a squirmy thing!!! Smacks people or teleports out of the way on instinct. He's not big on getting revenge until he meets Sonic and co.

Genuinely dislikes being tickled or the mere mention of it for a good while post-Sonic 3. When he eventually warms up enough to the Wachowskis, he ends up watching a cartoon with Sonic and Tails. Sonic then gets a horrible idea.

Sonic had found out he was ticklish and had chased him until he finally managed to get him down long enough to tickle him properly. His endless jokes and teasing had pissed Shadow off so bad that the two ended up getting into a tickle fight that may or may not have caused a power outage in Green Hill.

Shadow gets way too into it and starts stealth tickle attacking Sonic as revenge so much that it turns into a competition of how many times he can catch people with surprise tickles

Everyone starts retaliating until it turns into all-out war

It starts out as Shadow holding a grudge for Sonic, but once it's become something everyone's in on, Shadow secretly enjoys the whole thing after a while. Everyone else knows though

He justifies his newfound interest with keeping the other three on their toes. Training, if you will. "You need to stay vigilant." He says, like he hasn't been plotting on the best way to jump on them.

At one point, Shadow tried to train himself to not be ticklish. This fails spectacularly when Sonic occasionally teams up with Tails to “test” his progress.

So far he's gotten Tails the most, though Sonic is a very close second. After almost destroying the house too many times, Shadow's not allowed to attack Knuckles unless they're outside.

Shadow eventually makes a truce with Maddie, allowing occasional ear scritches if and only if she promises not to mention it to anyone. He secretly finds it calming, but if anybody so much as teases him about it, the deal is off.

Shadow once accidentally Chaos Controlled himself into a closet while trying to escape Sonic. It takes him a full five minutes to come out, and he refuses to talk about it.

“C’mon, Tails, you know the drill! It’s written in the big brother handbook. I have to do these things!”

Nine cocked his head at that, his embarrassment momentarily forgotten. “There’s a handbook for that?” he asked, glancing at Tails in surprise.

Sonic snickered, remembering how Tails asked the exact same question when Sonic used that excuse on him for the first time. Tails shot him a dirty look and Sonic zoomed in on it with his phone.

“Glare at me all you want, fluffball,” Sonic teased. “This footage is gold!”

Tails glanced up at the ceiling and groaned. “No, there’s no handbook, Nine. It exists in Sonic’s head and he changes the rules all the time.”

“Huh.” Sonic zoomed back out to get both foxes in frame, just in time to see Nine turn a calculated look toward him. “I suppose you’ve made a handbook for little brothers, then?” he said, his tone light but with a cunning gleam in his eyes. “What does it say we do in this situation?”

Tails beamed at Nine’s choice of words, almost literally with the way the morning sun outlined the fur on top of his head. His tails thumped against the mattress and he mirrored Nine’s mischievous grin.

“We retaliate.”

It was cute, the way the foxes thought they had a chance. Sonic was only ever “caught” by Tails because he let it happen. Not to mention Nine and Tails’ ruffled, early morning bed-fur undercut the intimidating look they were going for.

“Nice try, little buddies,” Sonic said, walking backward toward the door. It was fun while it lasted, and now it was time for him to leave. “But when your big brother is the essence of speed you’re out of lu—gyaah!”

Sonic’s gonna learn real quick what it means to have TWO genius brothers team up against him.

I hated having to remove a few descriptors because the foxes are SO CUTE!! but that would spoil the chapter too much.
