Today marks the 25th anniversary of the SEGA Dreamcast. To celebrate the console release, SEGA has teamed up with Limited Run Games once again to provide new merchandise such as trading cards, apparel, and many other items.

This Dreamcast Collection will feature 200 premium trading cards featuring art from the system’s most iconic games and franchises along with hoodies, t-shirts, pins, keychains and a Dreamcast coin.

25 years since the Dreamcast version of Sonic Adventure came out.

Jesus.

I remember when I was around 5. My parents and I went to a store to get a swingset for my birthday. I was excited, because hey, a swingset! Kids during that time loves swingsets!

Then I saw it. Sonic Adventure for the Dreamcast, on display to play the demo.

I decided to give it a shot. Played through Emerald Coast, lost, but kept playing. I remember kids gathering around and watching me play, even talked to them as I eventually beat the level. And seeing how I love the game, my parents decided to grab a Dreamcast, a copy of Sonic Adventure, and the swingset.

I remember playing the game on the system. I was so scared of Chaos, but dad encouraged me to keep playing, telling me that the "Jell-O monster" (yes, I called him that LOL) won't hurt me because he's fictional. I did eventually beat Chaos and went to play Emerald Coast again!

And. That's how I got into gaming. How I got into writing fanfiction. How I met the many friends I have. If I hadn't stopped and tried Sonic Adventure, I'd probably wouldn't be here. I probably wouldn't be writing fanfiction. I probably wouldn't met all my good friends I made over the years.

Whenever I boot up Sonic Adventure for the Dreamcast, I imagine Sonic is there, waiting for me, with an extended hand, so we can run through the level again. Emerald Coast is my little happy place ❤️

When I die, I want one thing: to be buried with the Dreamcast and my copy of Sonic Adventure. To symbolize my life.
