In November 1996 Sonic Team members traveled to Central and South America to be inspired for areas in 'Sonic Adventure'. This is a photo of Sonic on Tikal - the ruin of an ancient city in Guatemala, and the namesake of Tikal the Echidna.

I do so love just how thorough you are with which designs you include; the "angry eyes" version from the American Box Art is an especially nice cut, but I also appreciate leading with the Concept Art version too. Across the board, though, you handle the distinctive sense of Detail for each design really effectively, making very sharp use of the specific Pixel Art style to give each one an authentic Video Game feel.

As much as I enjoy playing Team Sonic Racing, I almost always avoid story mode because of Sonic saying stupid shit about Shadow like: "would work for Eggman to get what he wants" or "doing his bidding" BITCH WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT??

It's one of those rare instances where I utterly exclaim: "He would not fucking say that," and THAT was one of those instances.

I would come up with some sort of lame-ass excuse for why he said all that, like since the game came out after Forces, he would still be upset about Shadow being on Eggman's side, but WAIT, that won't work because that Shadow wasn't real and the real Shadow himself explained everything.

I have a whole thing about Sonic and Shadow's relationship being rocky after Forces (especially since I headcanon Prime taking place BEFORE Forces) that I would love to ramble about in the future, but Team Racing is just... It's just not it. 😔

I focus more on writing than gameplay (which for some reason is unheard of lol) and Team Racing's writing annoys me a lot. Especially with how Sonic and Shadow act.

Them being competitive, I don't care about, because they are always fucking competitive lmao. But Sonic treating Shadow as if he never liked him, or at least respected him is pretty damn weird.

They don't always get along, but that doesn't mean they flat out hate each other. Sonic, at least, anyways. (Okay Shadow doesn't really hate him either he just finds him annoying lol)

Really glad we're past the whole "SEGA gaslight fans into thinking Sonic and Shadow were never friends" phase, because this was not their dynamic at all.

I rarely say this kind of thing about any piece of Sonic media, but the people who wrote Team Racing have never played Adventure 2, Shadow 05 (if you ignore Sonic supporting G.U.N. for no goddamn reason) or even Battle.

Those games are the best highlights of Sonic and Shadow's true dynamic. They still bicker. A lot. But one always tries to reach out for the other as they push the other away. They never hated each other, (Shadow did at first but the hatred grew into mutual respect) but they are allow to be rivals without being enemies.

Hell, even the Archie comics have great examples of their dynamic. And I would say that IDW has a good example, but, and I'm saying this as someone who likes the IDW comics for what they are, they really don't lol

And if I am going to bring up either Prime or Movie 3, we would be here all day.

And that Sonic Channel story. Holy shit.

But yeah, just wanted to rant about my least favorite part about Team Racing's story mode because I am not a fan of the writing in that game and I'm glad I'm not the only one.
