After Sonic's success in restoring peace to South Island, the evil clutches of Dr. Eggman, who is once again plotting to take over the world, are closing in. When Sonic returned from his usual whimsical adventures, he received a letter from his little buddy Miles...

Dear Sonic, All of our friends on South Island have been kidnapped by Dr. Eggman. I'm being held captive in a place called Crystal Egg and I'm being forced to write this letter. But apparently you can only come here if you have the six Chaos Emeralds, which are somewhere on South Island. Dr. Eggman has built six horrible robots that are awaiting your arrival, so be careful, Sonic... From Miles

What will be the fate of Miles and his island friends? Where are the six Chaos Emeralds? As soon as he finished reading the letter, Sonic was off and running...

Since you're requesting positive asks, here's one that I hope is fun for you to think about: everyone knows about Eggmanland, the Egg Carrier, the Death Egg, etc, but what do you think are the most underrated Eggman bases in the series?

Crystal Egg is very much underrated! Mostly for its extremely unique aesthetic.

This is so far removed from anything that has Eggman's name on it. What lead him to build a base made of glass, and making it look so peaceful?

Of course, a hint of the doc's wickedness can still be seen, in a way. Sure, the scenery is pretty... but it's all artificial. There are no real plants or animals in sight. It's all still made by Eggman's hand, his to make and his to destroy. This might be his twisted view of a "good" future.

Needless to say, Chaos Angel is another stellar base for him:

He corrupted Angel Island itself! That's wild!

(also yeah it's stupid pretty and has some of the best music the GBA has ever pumped, but we all know that)

And you know what? I don't think people talk about Scrap Brain enough.

After going through pleasant levels, natural or man-made, Scrap Brain is a jarring view of what Eggman is going to do to the world if not stopped. It's not just completely artificial, the sky is this disgusting brown color, and you can see the noxious smokes being pumped in the air. I almost wish Act 2 didn't take place inside, because I really love the cyberpunk aesthetic of Act 1.

And, of course, Eggman was such a bastard that he built his base on top of ancient ruins and poisoned the water :P
