hello! i absoloutely ADORED your sl!scar animation, and ive grown rather fond of the song you used for it, especially when i found out it was by the same artist who wrote Two which is another song i have on repeat currently! and now seeing that your a big fan of Sleeping at Last, i was wondering if you had any songs of theirs in particular that you would reccomend to someone getting into their music? (and, if you have any at all, songs of theirs that you might associate with a someone from traffic smp/hermitcraft, but no pressure on that if you dont c: ) anyway, thank you for your time and the amazing art youve brought into the community!!

My favorite song of his is "Nine" because I resonate so strongly with that song. "Saturn" is the first song I ever heard of his and I still think it's breathtakingly beautiful. "Pluto" is <33333. Someone pointed out in a different ask that "Mars" fits life series Martyn's character a lot, and I think I'd agree!

I did a viennese waltz with my dance instructor to "West" and it was so much fun. "Atlantic" I used to play in my car when I drove around my college town at night, so that holds a lot of nostalgic memories for me. I've always wanted to use "Venus" for an animation some day with an OC.

Really the Atlas 1 and 2 albums are so special to me but those are some of my favorites

Strings Attached.

A/N: Hey guys! I hate myself for writing this. The lyrics in this are from the song Two by Sleeping At Last, beautiful song, beautiful artist, strongly reccomend listening to it at the same time as reading. As usual, please send some requests!

Like a force to be reckoned with,

The moon glowed down on the battlefield brightly, an eerie silver shade covering all the troopers and their Jedi. Ahsoka stood between her two brothers, sweat trickling down her face as she deflected the oncoming fire. 

Anakin had his teeth gritted, aware the screams behind him were troopers dying. Obi-Wan looked worried too. 

The three were leading their troops well, it was just the seemingly infinite amount of droids bothering them. For every droid they destroyed, it seemed a trooper fell. With those stats, there was only a slim chance they could ever win the battle, let alone survive it altogether.

A mighty ocean or a gentle kiss.

On an ocean planet, the waves lapping at the shore, Ahsoka stood, feet dipped in the coolness. She laughed as her Master groaned, tipping sand out of his boots. Obi-Wan stood, watching them both fondly, his hair messed from the battle they’d just won. 

Ahsoka grabbed the brunette’s hand and dragged him into the waves, laughing as his hair was flattened. Miserably, the brunette turned, pulling the eldest into the waves as well.

The girl laughed, ducking under their arms and breathing in the fresh ocean air, before diving into the blue. It was beautiful, peaceful, and gentle.

It was tranquil.

I will love you, 

At the Jedi Temple, the trio sat in the gardens by a fountain. Ahsoka’s hands were submerged in the clear water, brushing delicately over a koi fish. Obi-Wan told her and Anakin stories of the hours he spent with Quinlan Vos, playing with the fish.

Anakin scoffed with laughter and Ahsoka smiled. She grinned when a fish swam into her palm, seemingly rubbing its head against her fingers.

Her and the eldest laughed, whilst the brunette stared in shock. He reached his hands into the water, but too quickly, and the fish fled. He pouted, which only made his brother and sister laugh more. He joined them, after a moment.

With every single thing I have.

Another time, Anakin stood with his arm holding his Padawan up. They were beaten, bloodied and bruised, dirt covering every inch of their skin. Ahsoka was limping, a grimace coating her features everytime she stepped.

A familiar ginger Jedi hurried to stand in front of them, his hands reaching forward to grasp his sister’s face lightly, inspecting her worriedly. His brother leaned against him, exhaustion clear on his features. 

The eldest guided his brother and sister to a Medbay, brushing dirt from Ahsoka’s forehead and combing leaves from Anakin’s hair. They relaxed in his grasp, the comfort he offered well needed and craved.

Like a tidal wave, we’ll make a mess.

On a dark planet, the group sat, hunched over a dim fire, shivering. They were all beaten, cuts on their skin and bruises on their torsos. Around them, the forest whispered darkly, whispers cold and eerie.

Anakin pulled his sister closer, shuffling them both to hide in Obi-Wan’s side. Ahsoka rested her head on her Master’s shoulder, who leaned his on the ginger’s.

Obi-Wan ran a hand through the dirty locks of his brother’s hair, a hand absent-mindedly stroking his sister’s lekku occasionally. The two slept, and eventually so did the eldest.

They slept in a clearing, cold and shivering, but together. 

Or calm waters, if that serves you best.

On a planet lit by warm sunlight, the trio stood, accompanied by their Commander and Captain. They were laughing, joyous energy spilling from them in waves. Obi-Wan wrapped an arm around his sister, running his thumb over the gap between her montrals, knowing she loved the feeling. Anakin leaned against the ginger, his body too tired to stand upright on its own.

Rex and Cody moved to stand closer, Rex standing close to his sister, Cody next to his General. The five were family, not by blood but by choice. Rex rested his chin on the bridge between Ahsoka’s montrals, forcing Obi-Wan’s hand to move. He moved to drape an arm over Cody’s shoulders, forming a sort-of group hug.

I will love you without any strings attached.

Years later, Rex stood with his chin on the bridge between Ahsoka’s montrals, his face void of happiness. Instead, he wrapped his arms around his sister, turning her as she cried. He glanced up at the night sky of Naboo, his sister still clothed in her cloak. She was gripping something in her hand, but Rex didn’t ask what.

Obi-Wan sat, elbows buried in sand as he watched from behind a rock at his nephew. Tears spilled from his eyes too, dropping into the grains of sand below, turning it a different colour. He sobbed silently, watching Beru cradle the boy. He knew from the few wisps of hair on the boy’s head, that he bore the same dirty blonde hair Anakin had as a child.

Cody sat with his head in his hands on his bunk, his brain foggy and unclear. He could piece things together, like how he’d killed his General. He thought of the familiar ginger Jedi, falling to his death, landing in a pool of water Cody knew would have been stained red if he’d bothered to check. But he’d desperately hoped that somehow, Obi-Wan had survived the fall. But he knew, it was impossible.

And Anakin lay, six feet under, in a coffin built for his wife. Anakin was gone. He’d died the moment he’d realised he’d betrayed everyone he loved. The body that remained, encased by black metal, was not Anakin Skywalker. That was Darth Vader.

Anakin Skywalker was dead, and with it, came the deaths of his family. Whether they were still walking and talking, didn’t matter. 

The moment he’d died, they had too.

Holy shit Strawberry ok!! So right off the bat, I have praise and also some tips!

First, you matched the pace of the song perfectly. Never off beat! The tuning is beautiful, and she sang strongly, but not overpoweringly.

Secondly, tips! The vocalization is singing in a different pitch to the sung lyrics. It's not a glaring problem, and I was still fully able to enjoy the song. But that's always an easy thing to miss, so I always reccomend going through it listening out for pitch changes specifically. Apart from that, you did so damn good! 🥲🫡😭🤌🏻 If this was your first? I can even start to imagine how good you'll be once you get into your stride.

Like almost all of my handles' names is this song because one night at high school when I heard this song for the first time I was like "yes that is it this is the best song ever" And changed all of my usernames cuz I thought that was way cooler than anything with my real name anyway (which I still kinda do hence the handles)

ok the blurb for this one literally covers both side sof the sleeve?? and it truly tells you nothing BDJDJ. anyways the writing style reminded me of lemony snicket and it's only 150 pages? it seems fun but we'll see

Ain't Nobody's Business If You Do

this book is SO large. i mean 817 pages large. it seems like an interesting critique of the justice system, but tbh i just got it to look smart/hold up the clipboard my twilight books r balancing on.

Maus & Maus ||

i've been reading a pirated copy of this book and i'm so glad i found the physical copies!! i've already read maus but i read it a while back so i'll probably reread to prepare for the second one. straight up one of my favorite graphic novels so i'm extremely excited.

I'm not a fan of ASOIAF, but if you were one of people pulled in for it's... "Realism", might I recomend Water margin?

I should preface that I'm not chinese and I'm not that far into the story yet. But everytime I hear something of ASOIAF, I find myself thinking of Water Margin and what I've heard of it. So wanted to share it.

水滸傳 is a 14th - 15th centuary novel set in Northern Song dynasty China around 1120. It's about a band of brigands, the murderous scum of society, struggling to do the right thing in the face of the law and the greys of morality between good and evil. The first half of the story deals with how each of the main players came to their life of banditry, each character per chapter, before developing into a sort of war drama with strategy and action. During it's time of writing, martial arts and kung-fu really started kicking off so there's a lot action scenes intermixed with tragedy and drama. It was written with realism in mind which is why it has some heavy scenes and was banned for some time period. That's also why it was a big hit in lower class Sengoku Japan, where it's known as Suikoden. It's legacy is still strongly felt in Japan's cultural entertainment tropes such as shouting attack names. There's no monsters (i know of) but there are curses, demons and super-human feats.

Since the source deals with several heavy topics and was written in a time of increasing conservatism I also recomend reading a list of trigger warings before you watch or read it if you can find one.

If you can't find a copy, the 1998 live action adaptation is generally the one chinese audiences reccomend (WARNING: there is some hardcore REAL LIFE animal cruelty and hunting in the show, PLEASE be aware of that before you watch). Otherwise there is a 2011 adaptation, a 1978 movie adaptation and several animated adaptations of the japanese variations of the story. I also recomend 'Cool History Bros' animated recaps of the story since he walks through the cultural differences for a western audience.

Rammstein is a german band so if you'd be curious about their lyrics there are probably translations somewhere! of course it's not necessary to enjoy their music but i think they're totally worth looking into in free time, they add a lot, i love their lyrics! gdfjsdf (i mean Equilibrium is german too but honestly i listen to them mostly for the vibes and they also sing in english so- shrug fgdfsd) speaking of! for Equilibrium I'd reccomend Met, Karawane and Tornado! :D pls let me know what you'll think im curious!

i haven’t made any of my own aspect playlists in the time since we spoke last but i’m keeping it on my to-do list!! i would love to hear some of the songs you chose for yours, and i’ve had a great idea that i’ll circle back around to!

i LOVE talking classpects though! i put a lot of effort into choosing mine back in the day, and identified as Witch of Void for a long time. however, I wasn’t sure if I identified with that anymore, so I wanted to re-take the quiz before I answered you. I got Maid of Breath or Maid of Light this time, and both seem very fitting, but I’m not sure how strongly I feel about either.

(If you’re curious — for YEARS I have sworn by this quiz combined with this classpect analysis. I ignore the non-canon classpects on the quiz, though, personally. If I went by that, I’d be a Star of Blaze, which sounds pretty cool but I don’t know what any of that means, so…)

Also you MUST tell me your’s!!!! I at one point made all of my friends, including the non-homestuck ones, to figure out their classpects, I am so serious about it. its my favorite personality test that I am perhaps a little intense about. uh. anyway.

I HOPE YOU GET TO GO SEE BILLIE!!!! And that it isn’t overwhelming for you! For me, seeing artists I love, live, is a very personal thing. Being able to sing and cheer and dance with the rest of the crowd is a spiritual thing for me. Especially if it’s one of my gender-playlist artists! I’m only half-joking when I say I think I just need to see every band on it live and then I’ll finally evolve into my final form.

And on that note, that brings us to your required listening. Music anon, I have taken this so seriously. I’m holding these songs in my hands. I want to do right by you.

So. First impressions. I have to admit to you, anon, German is so foreign to me that I could not help but find it a little silly at first. That being said, the longer I listen to it, the more I ease into the sounds. I did this initial listen-through at work, when I first got your ask (which I received a full 23 hours after you sent it! I checked!). The sounds are fun!

However, I didn’t want this to be the entirety of my experience with them. Which comes to the part that took me so long to get around to — looking up the translated lyrics, and re-listening to all the songs with a little more context. This was an important step to me! I want to understand what you love about them!

My favorites from Rammstein were Links 2 3 4 and Sonne, and Karawane was my favorite from Equilibrium. Links 2 3 4 was the first one I listened to and the one I thought “german sounds so strange” about, but I really enjoyed it my second go around!!

Do you have any particular thoughts about the songs you chose? I’d love to hear what you’re thinkin!

Also, to circle back around to the idea I had — I know you were hesitant about sharing actual playlists with me, but how about sending me lists of the songs and letting me put the playlist together myself? Dog park dissidents - one of the more well known queer punk bands, their songs are fun and energetic but all have really good lyrics and meanings that reflect their views. Also theyre puppies. Also they have a cover of toxic by brittney spears so whats not to love. My song reccomendations: s*xual, class struggle, queer as in fuck you

Pansy division - another queer punk one. Often very explicit songs about gay sex but theyre very fun lol. My song reccomendations: bill and teds homosexual adventure, dick of death, bad boyfriend

Pure hell - older band formed in the 70s often said to be the first all black punk band, as far as im aware this is correct. Theyre brilliant. My song reccomendations: these boots are made for walking (cover), no rules, rot in the doghouse

The oozes - british queer punk band, very colourful and have a great sound which i really like. Their songs are often critiquing british politics but thats not all they do. My song reccomendations: wanker, bitchboy, swallow

The muslims - more recent band. Angry songs which strongly reflect their views and experiences. Great energy. My song reccomendations: fuck these fuckin fascists, punch a nazi, fuck the cistem
