nine favorite albums - this was a really hard one because while I'm listening to music every second of my life that I CAN listen to music during, I'm... not an album person?

I listen to songs and playlists more than albums. I actually have a problem where I'll discover and be obsessed with a song and just... not listen to the rest of the album for some reason!

3) What song describes your OC?

Used to the Dark by Des Rocs and Crime Scene by Night Club a song for him and one for his situation really. I'm not sure how but des Rocs and Night Club are the main ones on the playlist for Carmichael.

11) What was the inspiration for your OC?

I never really found anything interesting about the Toreador clan so I set out to make a Toreador I like. Now I have two. Carmichael and Father Sampson (for a game a friend is going to run) Carmichael has been fun to plan out as a character and for the Novella November thing so I've come around to being okay with Toreador.

26) What flower do you associate your OC with?

A plastic Chrysanthemum. There is a lot of "not what it appears to be" surrounding him. Chrysanthemum can be happiness and well being or sorrow and neglect. It being fake is also rather appropriate for the theme.

Oooooo i haven't heard of this song before. It's fun. I'm definitely still taking songs, i'm always taking songs, i fucking love getting new songs for sorry it's locked lol. its the best way to think about the fic while i can't actually write it for whatever reason.

The way the dude sounds like he's losing his mind as the song progresses is so perfect honestly, because yeah, Alex is slowly losing his mind.

Okay, shitty sleep deprived lyric analysis whoooo. Enjoy lmao, if this makes no sense blame my going to sleep at 4am last night.

Okay, but like, this whole thing makes it sound like the singer is a vampire, right? Alex feeling like he's undead. He's dead but his body just keeps going.

The first line is like when Alex woke up after he and Jay had sex at his house. He woke up to find Jay in his bed (i know he didn't actually wake up in the morning with Jay in his bed, he found Jay in the laundry closet, but he can have woken up in the middle of the night or something and saw Jay), in his coffin if we're going by the whole undead thing, which i am, and he feels like he must have drained Jay dry (of energy not actual blood, but you know) hence the 'paleness,' and he starts to realize just how badly he's fucked up by doing all the things he refused to in college.

And it makes him feel sick and really upset because in the back of his mind he starts to realize he's going to have to drive Jay away, otherwise it'll cause all sorts of issues.

Alex want's Jay to leave of his own accord, he wants Jay to take action and leave so that he doesn't have to kill him, and if he makes Jay think he's making the decision to leave on his own he's more likely to stick with it. If Alex just told him to leave, Jay would more likely try even harder to get answers and figure out what's happening.

Alex is going to show Jay just how nasty he can be, just what a mess of a person he can be, in hopes that it'll scare Jay away and keep him safe.

I swear it's nothing personal (X8)

Alex is desperately trying to remind himself that it's not anything to do with a personal dislike for Jay (it's literally the exact opposite lol), he is doing everything to keep Jay safe, and if Jay was anyone else he'd have done the same to try and save them (as long as he liked them the same way he liked Jay)

Self explanatory, he took Jay home and they had sex at his house, in his bed, for the first time. And then in the morning he did a full 180 from being lovely to being a dick, but it wasn't personal. it's not because he hates Jay or anything like that and he's desperate to remind himself of that and prove himself.

Gay. Lmao. Sorry, anyway, yeah, Alex saw Jay again in that parking lot and he just wanted to, like, let things go back to how they used to be even just for a little bit. He wanted to 'lose control' and just ignore all the stuff he's meant to be doing (killing Jay) to do something enjoyable instead (fucking Jay), and that 'loss' of control would actually be him taking control of the situation, and taking control of Jay again, like back in college.

This time when Alex swears it's nothing personal he's doing it in a desperate attempt to tell himself that it's not because he likes Jay, he's just pent up and frustrated and anyone would do. But it is personal. It is because it's Jay. He knows he'll have to kill him at some point, but he's trying desperately to find a reason not to do it yet.

I, I wanna drain you of the mourning I wanna tear away the shadows brick by brick I know you could've used a warning You thought I kissed you just to borrow some lipstick?

Alex hopes that taking Jay back to his house and having sex with him there will kind of make it so that Jay's less upset by having to make the decision to leave. Logically, he knows that's not how that works and fucking Jay at his house and in his bed just made it more painful for Jay to leave, because he finally got a taste of everything he'd been hoping he could one day have with Alex, but then again Alex isn't thinking straight, so.

Jay definitely could have used a warning when it came to everything Alex did, like, all the stuff the morning after, but Alex couldn't give him one. If Alex had given Jay a warning that he was going to be lovely to him and then turn a full 180, that would have worked against Alex's goal of making Jay hate him.

Also, the last line, about the lipstick, to me kinda sounds like the singer is saying that he didn't just kiss his partner for some stupid reason, like to borrow their lipstick. He kissed them for a real reason. Alex kissing Jay on the forehead and cheek and all that wasn't for no reason, Alex did it because he likes Jay and he knew that'd be the last chance he ever got to do that.

I've made mistakes, Lord struck me down.

Victor Vale hasn't let anyone close since Angie Knight, no matter how hard you try. He won't tell you outright, but you know part of his need to be alone is a self-inflicted punishment for his past mistakes. He didn't plan to hurt Angie, let alone kill her, but now it haunts him, and the idea of doing something like that again is more than enough reason to be alone and to push you away.

Since Victor escaped prison and you joined him in Merit, it's felt like you were both caught in a landslide, lost underground. Being lost without Victor is what makes everything harder. You want to be by his side through his hunt for Eli, his revenge, but he won't let you get near.

When you hear Victor's gates swing open loud, he lets someone else in. First Mitch, when they grew close in prison, then Sydney in her soaked clothes and intense need to save Dol. But the gates never open for you; they close in your face and leave you separated from Victor for eternity.

So, you give Victor the space he seemed keen on getting. Only that much space, however. You wait just outside his gates, his walls, ready to enter the moment he extends the invitation. There's a nagging fear in you that it will be the other way around, that he'll stagger out of his gates broken and vulnerable for the first time in his life, then it will be up to you to hold all the pieces together.

Being alone, with Victor, Sydney, Mitch, and eventually Dom on one side of the fight and you waiting patiently on the other, it wasn't long before your eyes got used to the darkness. Knowing the plan, regardless of whether or not you are part of it, shows you just what kind of person Victor is. Although, it doesn't matter when you know the why behind his plan. This isn't just revenge against Eli; this is atonement.

Victor plagues your mind even when he's not in sight. Everyone that you knew was lost and so long forgotten after Victor Vale entered your life, showing you that he was worth the pain, the fear, and the unpromised future.

Waiting in Merit, with your hotel room overlooking the Falcon Price Project, you come close to midnight, unwilling to let anything happen to Victor. No matter what that means for you.

The night wears on, and you grow reckless, taking your fate into your own hands. You think that Victor's fate is safely tucked where no one can reach it, even if they kill you in search of it. Lonely nights and dreams of Victor have prepared you to twist the knife, take his hand, and take a life.

"Vic," you whisper harshly, stepping out of the shadows.

"What are you doing here?" he demands, dropping the knife. "I told you to stay away."

"And I didn't listen. Sound familiar?" you challenge.

"You don't belong here."

"Yes, I do. I'm not letting you run in there and get yourself killed. I'm not giving up on this, Victor."

"Not giving up on what?" Victor asks, glancing at the towering construction project. "Us? I told you, that doesn't happen. Not with Eli out there, not in this life."

"I'm too young to give up on the light, Victor. Too young to give up on you, on us, and you are too!"

Victor steps toward you, tiny drops of blood visible above his collar. "There is no more light to trust in."

"I'm used to the darkness, Victor. Because of you! And you know what else you showed me?" Victor cocks his head, prepared to tell you to leave and never come back. "You- because of you now there's no one else left to love."

Victor says your name, a sigh that you fear marks the beginning of the end. "I'm just a man, I'm only flesh and bone. I can't bring it back on everything I've done."

"I'm not asking you to. This isn't about repaying your sins or bringing anyone back, Victor." Your voice breaks as you plead, "Just don't let me be one of the ones you leave behind."

Victor looks away from you, his chest heaving with a deep sigh.

"Stay here," he demands. "I'll come back for you."

"I'm not letting you leave me again," you argue, stepping toward him.

"And I'm not risking you."

You lick your lips, nodding once. "Would you take a life for me?"

Victor doesn't speak, which is all the answer you need.

"Then there's no reason I can't go. Sydney is probably already in there, or on her way. At least let me go in for her."

Victor nods reluctantly. "This is my fight. Do you understand that? Stay away from Eli, and if this goes wrong, get out."

"I will."

Walking into the Falcon Price Project is like the beginning of Spring, when the sweet smell of roses have come at last. It marks a new beginning, a new life without Eli Cardale. If midnight goes as planned, life with Victor is your reward. And you will fight to join the rest.

But, midnight comes and goes, and as you walk out on the other side, you find Victor Vale has left you behind once again.

You glare at Victor as he walks in the front door, Sydney, Mitch, and Dol behind him. Sydney and Mitch look at each other and then walk away quickly.

"I did what I had to do," Victor begins.

"You died. You left me. Again," you point out, emotionless.

"I thought you were used to the darkness?" Victor argues.

You stand, stepping toward Victor as you say, "I got used to the darkness in you. I didn't mean that I wanted you to run toward the darkness forever."

"Did you stop to think that I got used to the darkness, too, and I did what I thought was right? This is why I didn't even want you there!"

"I don't care what you thought was right!" you reply, voice raised to match Victor's.

"It doesn't matter. Sydney brought me back."

"I know that you have this obsession with paying for your sins, but Angie is gone, and now Eli is too. So grow up and get over it, or stop dragging down everyone close to you. You want to kill yourself, again? Great, but don't involve anyone else this time."

"This isn't about Angie," Victor snaps.

"Then why won't you let me get close?" you demand, closing the distance between you and Victor.

"Because without you there's no one else left to love," Victor yells, repeating your argument from midnight.

"Then let me in," you plead quietly, raising your hands to hover over Victor's chest.

Victor steps forward, meeting your touch as he says, "I got used to the darkness, too. Don't take the only light I have."

"I'm not going anywhere, Vic. No matter how hard you push."

Hm... I can't say I hold onto a lot of quotes like that, but I have a couple song lyrics that always remind me of particular OCs

(also this is a little sporadic, I really just went with whatever came to mind since there's a TON of songs and lyrics I associate with my OCs and it would take forever to gather them all)

Jasper and Quinn both have representative song lyrics incorporated into their actual fics, and since I don't have the spoons to copy those over I'll just snag the playlist links. The main other song I associate with Jasper that's not on the playlist yet is Hozier's Abstract (Psychopomp), and I plan to write a fic based on it in the future.

hello friends in my phone here is my MUSIC! unsurprising to me that my taste can be summed up as "respectable rock music mixed with really gummy trashy pop-rock" (with a surprise inclusion of musicals thanks to hadestown, which I listened to SO much it got "broadway" onto my genres of the year even though it was the only musical soundtrack I listened to)

Spotify also reinforced the fact that I relisten to music AGGRESIVELY. Very few of the songs on my Wrapped this year are songs I discovered this year. Nonetheless, here is my selection of those songs For You:

oh i listen to so so soooo many songs . uhm. i guess i'll choose some of my current favorites? oh maybe a favorite song from each of my favorite bands! ...of which there are definitely more than 5. but top 5 favs i guess???? or current 5 favs??? i dont think i can call these necessarily my Top 5 favs bc i have so many bands & artists i like at different times for different reasons BUT IF I HAD TO CHOOSE... ok this is going by band order i guess for current fixation but:

Sorrow - IAMX. ive been obsessively into IAMX recently to the extreme. for months. and i love soooooooo so many songs of theirs. but this song? Sorrow? it's the one that did it for me. I Come With Knives was the initial one that kicked this off, but going to Sorrow is what made me like "man i DESPERATELY need to listen to more of their music". NOT my very first IAMX song, that title belongs to Volatile Times, which ive known for like some ten years :p but only recently listened to more of their music and i have NOT looked back. as a bonus Sorrow reminds me a lot of ITNL Vash. perhaps part of the fixation on it lol

Nothing Personal - Des Rocs. picking a favorite song from him was nearly impossible bc im obsessed obsessed obsessed with his music. legit last year on my spotify wrapped all of my top 5 songs were his. OBSESSED. 'A Real Good Person In A Real Bad Place' is still undisputedly one of my fav albums EVER & the reason for that top 5 songs thing. but Nothing Personal is the first Des Rocs song i ever heard & what made me go "Oh my God???" & it still makes me lose my total shit when i listen to it lksdjflskjdf. honorary mention to Why Why Why, which was the other one i considered for him. also love that shit sooo much.

I Never Told You What I Do for a Living - My Chemical Romance. just so you know picking a single favorite song for MCR was near impossible. so much of their music makes me absolutely insane in the best of ways & picking just ONE?????? impossible. but i chose this one bc it's one that makes me EXTRA lose my shit anytime i listen to it. like fucking Belting it out. this one's The One. i can't give you special mentions for MCR bc there are too many. too fucking many. god i still love MCR so much

Armageddon - Blue Stahli. fucking love Blue Stahli's stuff, it's SOOO fun to listen to, & Armageddon probably really is my fav of theirs. i end up just jumping along to this song so much. it's a jumping song !!! so much fun to listen to !!!! also really paints a picture of me that a fav song of mine is just "Armageddon, come come and get it! Armageddon, baby!" the whole The Devil album is soooooooooo much fun & also an album i had a Mood for. back in uhh oct 2021 i wanna say. around there. special mentions for Takedown, Kill Me Every Time, and Power Outrage (this last one especially, OH MAN this also makes me lose my shit in the best of ways)

Mr. Fear - SIAMES. in a dramatic tone change from the other choices, i really am quite fond of SIAMES's music. it's my chill music. & this song specifically is sooooooooo full of longing and wistfulness. it's the first one of theirs i listened to & it's so......... waaaaaaaaaaaaa.. special mention to Brothers, which i very nearly chose bc im obsessed with that song too, but Mr. Fear has had my heart in a chokehold since i first listened to it Years ago. had to answer that one.

uhm. there are 5! additional special mentions to Capricorn by Xan Griffin, Maniac by Stray Kids, and Lovesong by TXT, which are all individual songs i've had MASSIVE obsessions with in the past. the Repeat On End kinds of songs. im being a bad STAY by not including Stray Kids in the favorite bands list but i havent been listening to their music as much lately. feeling these top 5 much more rn
