Hello! I sang "Proud of your Boy" from Aladdin for my Newsies audition, and I got a callback!! Since Proud of your Boy is a ballad, do you think I should sing something uptempo to show my acting range? They didn't provide any specific requirements for the songs to sing whatsoever, that's why I'm kind of confused. My uptempo choice would be "Everybody says Don't" from ACW, or "I'm Calm" from Fourm. (I'm a 17 year old tenor btw!) Do you have any other suggestions? Including ballads? Thanks!
Well both of those are sondehim which is a huge no no in auditions because its too hard for the pianist to play.
As a boy, Disney musicals are sooo good (for women theyre too overdone) So look at Little Mermaid and/or Beauty and the Beast. Sister Act might be good to have too!
Anyone have some better suggestions?

Charles Barkley, opposing coach rip high schooler after 92-point game
Leave it to Charles Barkley to bash a sophomore in high school who had himself an incredible 92-point game.
LaMelo Ball, a star at Chino Hills High School in Southern California and UCLA recruit, scored 92 points in his team’s 146-123 win over Osos High School Tuesday night. Ball, the younger brother of UCLA star Lonzo Ball, took a whopping 61 shots and made 37 of them. Barkley, however, was unimpressed by the 15-year-old’s lack of commitment on defense.
“You know, the kid was waiting at half court most of the game,” Barkley said on the Mike and Mike Show Wednesday, as transcribed by Michelle Kaufman of the Miami Herald. “Never went back on defense. So, I had a problem with it, to be honest with you. Go look at the game. The kid waited at the other end of the court and just every time the other team shot the ball, they just threw to him at half-court or three-quarters of the court. I have a serious problem with that, to be honest with you.”
Barkley wasn’t the only one who criticized Ball. Los Osos coach Dave Smith called the 92-point performance “embarrassing.”
“That’s wrong,” Smith told Eric Sondehimer of the Los Angeles Times. “It goes against everything CIF (California Interscholastic Federation) stands for. The Ball boys are very talented and great players, but it’s embarrassing to high school athletics. I’ve been coaching for 35 years, and we’ve turned high school athletics into individualism.
“It’s amazing to watch a kid score that many points. But it’s tough to say that’s what CIF athletics is about.”
LiAngelo Ball, another brother of LaMelo and Lonzo, missed the game with an ankle injury, which left more shots for LaMelo. LiAngelo, a senior, scored 72 points in a game earlier this season.
We understand the points both Barkley and Smith were trying to make, but the kid is 15. As long as his teammates don’t have an issue with him taking so many shots, he has nothing to apologize for. Scoring nearly 100 points is remarkable no matter how it happens. You can see highlights from the game here.

Now I suggest you go listen to Art of the Dress.... it's pretty much the same song! :-)The My Little Pony version of this song - anyway!
This musical, Putting it Together is literally putting a slew of Sondheim's songs together and writing a very thin plot line around the whole thing. It's a fun show to listen to, but I imagine that watching it would be less than stimulating!

I'm kinda really sick of seeing shit about the Into the Woods casting on my dash so once and for all let's have one more whine. I'll wait.
Did you whine? Fine. Now. Can we all get over it and move on with our lives?
'Kay?

So good. So freakin' good. The always-incredible Raul Esparza absolutely killing "Franklin Shepard, Inc" from Merrily We Roll Along. Anyone who has ever claimed that acting and musical theater are two distinct areass need to be shown this clip stat. (Also, watching someone perform a nervous freakout onstage is weirdly cathartic when you're stressed. Trust me, I've used this clip for that purpose before. I guess that's why theatre exists.)

When Side by Side by Sondheim moved to the Morosco for its final month, Burr Tillstrom joined the cast, bringing Kukla and Ollie with him. “The Two of You” was added to the show, a song written many years before and sent to the Kukla, Fran and Ollie show when Sondheim was hoping to have a song on television. It was rejected. Nancy Dussault sings the song with Kukla and Ollie in this live recording.
