ONF Fake Marriage AU headcanons

(idea dump version, might expand and elaborate to single post when i got more time to spare. Also, happy belated ONF month~)

Hyojin

-Maybe a long lost friend/classmate/university club mate, and coincidentally your parents nagging you two to get married asap.

Both you and Hyojin already passed a few candidates and you two knew that your family members are getting annoyed.

So when both of you end up matchmaking with each other and the moment you two recognised each other, you two hurriedly clicked on the plan of fake marriage for the short time being.

The one that agrees to play along but will list down a bunch of rules and consequences to make sure both of you are on the same page.

No one is taking anyone's advantage. (not even if he is actually in love with you deep down).

Cues in comedic moments that migh happen: because your lifestyle are still like of a non married single, for example, you went out clubbing and Hyojin is at home. Parents decided to visit without notice, and then Hyojin had to hurriedly call you to prevent things go south lol. And then it made both of you understand the importance of the power of teamwork.

Also I think the tendecy is high to happen, so I will specifically write it here, Hyojin defending on your behalf when parents are pressuring you to get pregnant.

if 10/10 is super slow burn, I think for this, the speed maybe a 6 to 8 on character relationship development.

Changyun

- More like marriage as politic kind of arranged marriage at first, but he fell harder later.

Might be your aristrocratic family corrupted and nearly died out, and then Changyun's family took you in. (Or even worse for you, your family sent/presented you to his family hoping you can influence his family to provide your family benefits)

You don't want to use and manipulate him so you come clean on the first day you both met.

Nevertheless, Changyun agreed and said he can help you to be independent. Maybe you are actually very good at doing business (is just that your family thinks you are better off married away, or maybe they value male heir/eldest rather you being the female/second or younger child).

It could be Changyun helping you by paving way for you to build your business foundation, but in return, you need to pay him back some income shares later on.

Respects you and even though he can put up an act of PDA but in private he is very timid on getting close to you.

*btw, younger prince who is not qualified for the throne X the younger child whose talent being dismissed by family is actually not a bad setting imo. Slow burn meter wise, I think could be 7 to 8.5 for this one, as it will take even longer time for both of you getting to know each other.

Seungjun

- IDK but I think it will be crazily hot to imagine this under Spy undercover family AU (yeah like SPY family and Mr and Mrs Smith). Enemies to lovers and then kick*ss together.

(could be rival in business like he is top 1 and you are no.2 and both of you are assigned to complete this mission. or spyX assasin like Spy Fam)

Cue in awkward PDAs from you but when it was initiated by him, it was smooth af and you flustered really hard.

Also, to your suprise, he actually admires you and see highly of you very much (if its Seungjun X fem Spy colleague), I can see him mentioning and praising your hardwork and he sometimes felt he should not be the top 1 only just because of gender advantage.

Another trope that I think it will be cute is that in secret, you are crushing on him so hard and you start to confuse yourself later on.

Slow burn meter, 3 to 4. (I wont elaborate, but in terms of spice this has the highest tendency to be the spiciest lol.)

Jaeyoung

- Happy to help you, but, i do feel this will be fluffiest Friend to lover ever. Helping you out with the act not because he is aloof, more on he is kind and gentle.

He doesnt want people to hurt you so if that is the most efficient way to protect you for the time being, so be it. However that does not mean he will let things slide just like that.

Just my selfish thoughts, Mafia! Jaeyoung vs reader might do the trick. I mean we can emphasize more on why Jaeyoung does not want to make a move on you because he does not want to put you in trouble (might be safer when people only see you as plaything rather than soulmate.), and also he thinks that he is not qualified to "walk under the sun" with you.

BTW, if you think this is the defrosting the ice king trope, you might be half right. Jaeyoung might be just holding himself back alot because he does not want to burden you, he doesn't want to cross the line.

Alot of activity you two did are more on hanging out with each other and getting to know each other better.

High chance this might just end up with you two getting divorce but remaining as best friends.

Or, another high chance is both of you are not divorcing, but end up continuing the play until both of you are so used to each other, and maybe 4 to 6 years later both of you agreed to stop thinking too much and officially become a true couple instead.

Minkyun

- maybe come to you with a contract and even set up rules like, divorce in 3 years later.

another Office AU maybe? The rich CEO X reader trope.

But actually he wanted to try his best to make you fall in love with him within 3 years.

(He has been eyeing on you ever since, but you are the independent type and unlike those who will constantly circling around him. Might be thinking having you as his fiancee/bride is a conveninent case but fell in love with you damn hard when he got to know about the values you believe in).

BTW if wanna include angst for this, may insert you thought Minkyun trying to use you as a bluff so that he can see other person, cues in love rival that creates unwanted drama, and you are scared af that people might know you are the one that got married to him.

And you did thought the love rival is more of a match to Minkyun than you are.

I think this one might be fun and comedic when it is more on you trying to hide the secret that you are married with him, but on the contrary he has no problem telling everyone he is already married (but he did not disclose your identity).

Under the comedic moments, insert some serious moments/conspiracy that actually Minkyun purposely chose someone else(you) for the marriage was due to him trying to protect family business.

Should he really engaged/married with the love rival, things might end up real bad.

Cues in Minkyun saying things like, I am not manipulative and prudent enough like my family members but I am still capable enough toprotect the things and people that I treasure deeply.

Slow burn meter I think will be 6 or 7.

Yuto

- I felt that Yuto X Single parent AU might work(?), also very very loose citizenship marriage trope can be applied here. Oh, I will very much prefer the idea of dead spouse single parent rather than divorced single parent for this idea.

You see him as younger brother/junior before. But knowing that you need a father figure/another parent to keep your child. And knowing that he a local to help him prolong his visa/PR. After a long talk, you two agreed to get married (only just on papers).

Of course I am don't feel it is wise to cage the idea that Yuto being a house husband and you are the one providing for the family. (not that this idea is a bad one, but its too cliche for me)

I would like for this to epxand on how both of you adjusting life to take care a toddler, and the bond slowly grows. Maybe you are not that used to taking care of your toddler and Yuto will help out and guide you.

Also because of the change of your mindset, your character also started to change in a good way.

In the begining, both you and Yuto will still act up some PDA to trick other people. But as times goes by, both of your chemistry and bond getting stronger, the interaction between single parent and Yuto gets more natural.

Because of good chemistry, alot of people around you really thinks both of you are truly a pair. And both of you will deny every speculation that you two are a couple.

I think this one might either end up you both being really good friends/team mate in the family, OR once both of you found someone (and the child is now older lets say 12 or 13) a friendly divorce to end the "relationship". Two of you be like BFF until old age.

Cues in the child calls you "Mama"(for those who identify themselves) and Yuto "Papa", but with your new partner, the child calls them "Dad".

“Are ya listenin’ to me, Peeta? Because what I’m ‘bout to tell ya is important. Maybe the most important words you’ll ever hear.”

My seven-year-old self eagerly nods my head up and down as my grandpa swoops me off the ground, swinging me in the air, and then plopping me down on his knee. Grandpa narrows his eyes seriously at me, and I try my best to return his gaze.

“Now, listen and listen good, son, cause I won’t be ‘round forever.” I nod again, so Grandpa knows he has my full attention. “If you don’t remember anything I’ve taught ya, then ya gotta remember this. The best things in life require an abundance of patience, persistence, and hard work. Do you know what those words mean?”

I press a finger to my chin and look up as I repeat the words in my head.

“Patience means you wait for something calmly, sometimes for a long time,” Grandpa says.

“Oh! Like when Daddy’s baking cookies and I have to wait for the timer to go ‘ding’. And then I have to wait for them to get cooled,” I say, lighting up with a smile at having correlated the two.

“Yeah, something like that. Anyway. Persistence means you don’t give up. And well, hard work, that word is self-explanatory.” Grandpa pauses, his wrinkled lips forming into a straight line. “What I’m trying to tell you, Peeta, is anything worth fighting for don’t come easy. You see, one day, son, you’ll meet a woman who’ll make you crazy. She’ll turn your world upside down and inside-out. She won’t take none of your crap. That’s the kind of woman you hold on to. And if she tries to be slippery, then you fight for her with all you got. You prove yourself to be worthy. But most importantly, Peeta, remember that she’s always right.”

I smile at the memory, wondering if my grandfather somehow had a glimpse into the future. At seven years old his words only served to confuse me. At the time, girls were gross and had cooties, and I simply could not fathom the idea of chasing after any girl. For so many years I thought of the last words the wisest man I had ever known had given me. And for so many years they never quite made sense.

That is, until I met the love of my life. My best friend, my soul mate, my other half. The woman Grandpa described to me as a child summed Katniss up to a tee. She was like a wild animal, free, untamed, and lived by no one’s rules but her own. And she wanted absolutely nothing to do with me. However, with Grandpa’s advice of patience, persistence, and an abundance of hard work, I finally got her to crack.

And here I am, three years later; my relationship with Katniss stronger than ever.

I make the turn onto Seam Street and park my car outside of Katniss’s apartment complex. I reach into my pocket for my phone to let Katniss know I’m coming up, but then decide to surprise her instead.

Katniss and I are supposed to meet at District 12, her favorite restaurant for our “Valentine’s Day Dinner Date,” but I left my wallet on her nightstand. I get out of my car and reach into my other pocket, grinning from ear to ear when I feel the tiny black velvet box.

Eager to set eyes on my mighty huntress, I take the steps two at a time and feel the vibration of someone’s blaring music.

“Uh-oh,” I say, wondering if the music is coming from Katniss’s apartment. She has the tendency to blast her music when she gets in one of her “deep cleaning” moods, or if she’s stressed out. I’m hoping it’s the former.

Once I reach the door to her apartment, I fetch my keys and let myself in, only to get blasted by her music when I open the door. I quietly close the door behind me, not that she can hear me, anyway, and toe my shoes off. When I turn around, my heart swells inside my chest at the sight before me.

“I was wondering where those boxers went,” I mutter to myself through a grin. Katniss is still oblivious to my presence, so I take a moment just to admire her. She’s rocking my favorite pair of orange boxers, along with one of my shirts as she dance-vacuums her way around the living room.

But that isn’t what has my heart pounding so hard in my chest. It’s the subtle aroma radiating from beneath the flickering flame of the candle perched on the kitchen table. I inhale deeply, and my nostrils are filled with the refined scent of artificial vanilla. Maybe sugar cookies? Or perhaps cupcakes.

Ready to make my presence known, I sneak up behind Katniss, wrapping my arms around her waist and kissing her cheek. Katniss nearly leaps in the air from my sudden touch.

Her smile could literally light up the room, and if my heart could smile, I think it would, knowing that I am the cause of that smile. She reaches for the remote and powers off the music, then circles her arms around my neck.

“What are you doing here? I thought we were meeting at the restaurant,” she mumbles into my neck.

“I missed you, and well, I forgot my wallet,” I tell her, inhaling another whiff of vanilla. “What is that? Did you bake something?” I ask, knowing good and well it’s the candle.

“Oh, huh…what?” Katniss gives me a bemused expression just before her eyes go wide with realization. Quickly, she zips across the room to the kitchen table and promptly blows out a puff of air, extinguishing the flame from the candle.

“What’d you do that for? I thought it smelled good. When did you start burning candles, anyway?”

Katniss shrugs her shoulders dismissively. “The apartment was smelling musty. Opening the windows didn’t work, neither did air freshener, so I grabbed a candle at the grocery store.”

“Okay,” I tell her, giving her a kiss on the cheek and not pressing the issue. Then I head into the kitchen to get a cup of water. It’s hard, very hard to keep my lips from stretching across my face, but somehow, I manage it.

I make my way back to the living room and plop down on the sofa. I set my glass on the side table and check my watch. “I need to run home and get a few things done. Do you want to meet at District 12, or do you want me to swing by and pick you up?”

Katniss’s body seems to slump at my statement. “Actually, I was thinking,” she begins, twirling the end of her braid—something I know she does when she’s nervous. “Since you’re already here, maybe we should just…um, take one car. I mean—unless you need to do your things right now.”

“I thought you’d never ask,” I beam, finally allowing my lips to curve into the cheesy grin they’ve been dying to since the moment I got here. Then I motion with my finger for her to come here. I didn’t actually have errands to attend to; I just wanted to leave Katniss’s options open, but to say I am elated would be a drastic understatement.

Katniss’s face lights up with a grin as she sprints to the couch and pounces right into my lap, straddling a leg on either side of my hips. Then she hooks her arms around my neck, pressing her mouth—and her body, flush against mine. I part my lips, welcoming the assault from her tongue. In the moment of heated kisses, I reach around and feel my way up Katniss’s back, digging my fingers deep into her muscles, which results in a moan, a sigh, and a groan of pleasure escaping from her lips.

“My God, how are you so good at that? And how do you always know the right spots?” Katniss grinds into me, readily accepting my wet kisses against her neck.

I know I’m going to hate myself for this, but I spent too much time preparing for tonight to just stay in with my girlfriend. Even if it feels so damn good…

“Katniss…I—we should—”

“Mmm hmm,” she moans, vibrating against my lips. Dammit.

“Go get dressed, baby—um…dinner. Plans…remember?” I manage to stumble out, hopefully enough words for her to understand my meaning.

“I don’t mind if we skip dinner,” she says, pressing her chest to mine as she teases my neck with kisses.

If I don’t stop her now we’ll never make it out of here, so I grab her hands and lock my eyes with hers. “Go get ready, and I promise to fully satisfy all of your hunger needs tonight. Trust me, I have big plans for you.”

Her eyes darken, and the corner of her lip twitches into a smirk. “Oh, do you now?” she says, hopping off my lap, and I give her ass a smack before she runs off to her room.

“How fancy is this place?” Katniss shouts from her bedroom.

“Nice enough to wear a dress,” I call back, not wanting to give too much away.

“What kind of dress, though? Like…dinner-with-your-mother-kind-of-dress, or—”

“No, no. Not that kind,” I jump in, feeling slightly queasy at the thought.

“Oh, thank God.” Katniss exhales a sigh of relief, her thought process mirroring my own.

“Okay, I’m ready. What do you think?” About half an hour later, Katniss comes traipsing down the hall, twirling once when she reaches the living room.

My jaw falls slack at the sight of my girlfriend. I knew she would look stunning in a dress—I find her glamorous in her PJ’s. But Katniss has somehow managed to dress in my favorite—everything. From the flowing, dark emerald green dress that stops just above her knees, to the matching, open-toed sandals on her feet. I can’t take my eyes off her as she models the open-backed dress for me, exposing her beautiful olive-toned skin with the nearly transparent straps that cling to her shoulders. But I’m the only one who knows this because of the dress’s matching shawl that hangs loosely draped across her shoulders.

But the real gem of the evening is hanging around her neck and between her perfect, and slightly protruding, collar bones is the necklace I gave her on our three-year anniversary. Her hair lacks its usual braid, instead it hangs loose in deep, thick waves, pulled around to one side of her shoulder.

“W-wow,” I manage to stutter. “Y-you’re so beautiful,” I tell her, closing the distance between us and kissing her full on the lips. Katniss has never been the type of woman that spends hours primping in front of a mirror, but she doesn’t need to. Katniss is naturally perfect and beautiful without the added makeup, hair product, and artificial enhancements that so many women spend fortunes on. However, all she has to do is put forth the least bit of effort and it puts her over the top—beyond magnificent.

“Are you ready?” Katniss asks, motioning toward the door.

…..

“I liked your new candle,” I say with a knowing, crooked grin from the seat across from my girlfriend at her favorite restaurant. District 12 serves the best lamb stew with wild rice and dried plums.

“About that,” Katniss hesitates, pulling her hands out of mine. Her right hand automatically reaches up to twirl a lock of her hair, a sign that she’s nervous. “I have a…sort of confession.”

I reach back over and grab onto Katniss’s hands, locking my eyes on the gorgeous, stunning beauty that is my girlfriend. “Sort of?” I ask, feeling a wave of heat prickle up my back. “Okay, let’s hear it.”

“Don’t worry, it’s nothing bad,” Katniss rushes to say, squeezing my hands for reassurance. “It’s about the um…candle.” I release a breath I didn’t realize I was holding. I know in my heart of hearts that Katniss loves me, but there is always this tiny little pestering voice in the back of my head, which oftentimes takes on the voice of my mother. And the voice is constantly trying to make me second guess myself. “I um…well, it’s just that…if I tell you this you better not make fun of me.”

“Katniss.” I pull back with narrowed eyes, slightly offended at the insinuation.

“I know, I know, but I…I just had to say it. But well…it’s just that sometimes I miss you.” Katniss shrugs her shoulders, refusing to meet my eyes. “And I bought the candle because the smell reminded me of you. And so, when I’m missing you and can’t see you, the candle kind of…tides me over until I do get to see you.” Katniss breathes a sigh of relief at her confession. “See, I told you it was stupid.”

I squeeze Katniss’s hands, then lean over the table to get closer to her. “Katniss, it isn’t stupid at all. It’s no different than when I steal that giant sweatshirt you sometimes sleep in. Or when I don’t want to wash my pillow cases because they smell like you.”

“I love you, Peeta,” Katniss says with darkening cheeks and eyes. Then she leans forward, her lips melting into mine.

…..

“Are we there?” Katniss asks anxiously for the third time.

“Almost, baby,” I tell her as I lead her down the narrow and winding path. I can’t believe she actually let me blindfold her; I guess it’s just one more affirmation that tonight will go as planned.

Finally, we’ve reached our destination, and I slow us down to a stop, planting a soft kiss on her cheek. “Tell me something, Katniss, what do you smell?”

“Huh?” She asks, her face scrunching up in confusion.

“Just because you can’t see doesn’t mean you can’t…see,” I tell her. “Use your other senses, Katniss,” I explain after her continued bewildered expression.

Katniss inhales a deep, cleansing breath through her nose. “I smell…” she begins, still absorbing her surroundings. She takes another deep breath, recognition filling her features. “Trees!” she finally exclaims. “And…birds…chirping high up in the trees…and…branches swaying. Squirrels…Peeta, are we…are we in the woods?” She asks, unable to contain the glee from her voice.

“Are you ready?” I ask her.

Katniss doesn’t respond; instead, she impatiently yanks the blindfold over her head. I can barely make out her disappointed expression through the darkness.

I click the tiny little button in my pocket before she has time to utter a single word. Then suddenly, everything around us transforms into the most beautiful sight. Katniss gasps as she looks around, taking it all in. At first, I can tell she’s overwhelmed by the thousands and thousands of white, twinkling lights. I spent much of the week stringing the lights—everywhere. Over the fence, wrapped around trees; there are even lights outlining a path on the ground that leads to a set of steps. It takes a moment for her eyes to adjust, but I know the exact moment she realizes where we are.

“Oh my God, Peeta!” she croons, turning to face me and circling her arms around my neck. “We’re at…you brought me to Mockingjay Park. This is…it’s where my dad would bring me when I was a little girl!” she cries, pressing her lips to mine and pulling me closer. “I just…I love it and it’s the most amazing surprise; it’s just…I kind of wish I knew beforehand, so I could’ve brought my bow.”

“You mean…” I’m more than thankful I thought ahead as I reach behind me, seemingly producing Katniss’s bow out of thin air, along with the quiver containing the sheath of arrows.

Katniss’s emotion seems to burst inside her, and she jumps into my arms, hugging her legs around my waist. I grab onto her, cupping my hand under her ass so she doesn’t fall, and she attacks my mouth with kisses. “Every time I think I can’t possibly love you any more…every time you do something amazing, and I think: “There’s no way he can top this,” and you go and prove me wrong. I love you, Peeta Mellark. I swear, I fucking love you,” she professes, locking her hands around my neck and tangling her fingers through my hair.

Eventually, she wiggles out of my arms, excited to finally be able to use her bow.

“We’ve got the entire park to ourselves for the next two hours,” I inform her, handing her the bow and arrows.

Katniss raises a brow. “You mean…”

I nod, unable to quell my goofy grin. “The entire park is ours; there isn’t a single soul for miles. So…why don’t you take your shoes off, and let’s walk to the range.”

Katniss doesn’t need to be told twice. She kicks her heels off, and together, we walk across the field and toward the row of targets.

“This is too easy; I think we need to up the ante,” I call out to Katniss after thirty minutes of watching her hit bullseye after bullseye.

“What do you suggest?” Katniss turns around, smirking at the compliment.

I get up and make my way toward the target, and this confuses Katniss.

“Wh—Peeta, what are you doing? Get back over here.”

Katniss holds her position at the fifty-foot mark by the time I’ve reached the target. When I first made these Valentine’s plans for Katniss, I never intended on proposing. It was supposed to be just like any other ordinary date night. But Katniss’s confession at dinner is what changed my mind. I just didn’t know how I’d do it until now.

With my back pressed against the target, I hold my head up high, brazen with a confidence I didn’t realize I possessed. Then, my hand plunges into my pocket and digs out the small, velvety box that contains Katniss’s precious ring. Quickly, before I lose my nerve, I pull the box out and place it on my head. “You’re going to hit this target.” I state firmly. Confidently.

“Peeta—what? No—no, you’re nuts,” Katniss says, shaking her head dismissively.

“What? You don’t think you can do it? I thought you were up for a challenge?” I can’t help but taunt her.

She takes the bait. I see the flaring of her nostrils; I can almost see the steam shooting from her ears as her knuckles turn white from gripping tighter onto her bow.

“Fine!” Katniss hisses back. “But it’s your funeral,” she says with a shrug of her shoulders.

“Katniss,” I call out as she readies herself. She spins around on her heels, meeting my eyes.

“Yes?”

“I trust you.”

The corners of her lips slowly curve up into a mischievous grin. If there is one thing I know about Katniss, it’s that she is literally incapable of refusing a dare. And that’s basically what I just did. I dared her.

I straighten my back, so it’s flat against the target as I admire my beautiful, amazing, and talented girlfriend. I’ve seen her do this a million times, yet somehow, she amazes me every single time.

Suddenly, the butterflies in my stomach feel as if they have just grown claws, flapping their wings and filling me with so much love for this woman as they search for an escape. My heart is pounding against my chest, but my anxiety is not about whether or not she’ll hit me, but what her answer will be.

I decide to focus all my attention on Katniss as she goes through her routine. She always stands taller on the first inhale, the one that steadies her nerves. I envision her lungs expanding with the fresh, winter air. Then, she holds the precious gas in place for a moment before pursing her lips, slowly releasing the remaining oxygen, all her anxiety dissipating along with it. Then I watch intently as Katniss mouths the words, “One, two, three.” Her beautiful, delicate fingers pull the bowstring tight, and then, just like that, the arrow is released into the air, soaring, flying, gliding—and headed straight toward my head.

The arrow soars gracefully as it glides through the air. My heart accelerates as it gains speed, the space between myself and the arrow shortening, lessening, yet I am not the least bit afraid. My eyes remain locked on a frozen Katniss when the arrow slams into its target, impaling the little black box above my head. How I did not so much as flinch as the arrow made its impact goes to show my trust in the beautiful woman—who is now hauling ass toward me.

It feels like it happens in slow motion. Katniss doesn’t wait for the arrow to make impact, but rather, the second it’s released into the air, her bow and quiver of arrows crash to the ground. Fear is written all over her face; it’s as if she’s only just now realized what she’s done. Then she’s running full force, making a beeline straight toward me, trying to outrun the arrow.

In the time it takes her to run to me, I’ve already removed the arrow from the “target,” inspected the contents of the ring box, and slammed the lid closed.

“You stupid, stupid, idiot!” she screams, cries, slamming into me and crashing us to the ground. She pulls back for a second, scanning my body for injuries before pinning me back to the ground and slamming her lips against mine. “I could have killed you; you could have died! I can’t lose you, Peeta. Do you know what that would do to me? Don’t you ever, ever, ever do that again!”

Katniss is crying so hard that it’s brought on the hiccups, and she’s struggling to breathe. “Katniss, baby, calm down. I’m okay, I’m fine. I was never in any danger. Don’t you see? I trust you with my life.” I hold her face firmly in my hands, forcing her to look into my eyes. But her shiny, glassy eyes and tear-streaked face is filled with sheer terror, which is like a knife in my gut. I really hadn’t expected her to react this way.

Katniss collapses on top of me, resting her head on my chest. Realizing that in all the commotion I dropped the ring box, I look around until I spot the box, and quickly scoop it up.

“Come here, sit up,” I tell her, pulling us up into a sitting position. She sniffles but complies.

We’re sitting Indian Style across from each other on the grass. I’ve got the box clutched firmly in my hand when my mouth seems to start moving on its own. “Katniss, I…I know you never wanted this. You told me so on our first date. But, Katniss, I—there’s no me without you. I can’t imagine spending my life with anyone—only you. Just you.” This isn’t going anything like I planned it, even though I didn’t actually plan it. For someone who is so good with words, I’m a blubbering mess. So, I release my grip on the box and open my hand to Katniss.

She takes the box, then looks up at me, her stormy, gray eyes wide with shock, her mouth agape. “P-Peeta?” she questions.

“Katniss, please, just…just let me,” I beg her, and she nods. “Katniss, you are my other half. My soul mate. You complete me. Everything about you is perfect, and I wouldn’t change a single thing about you. And even if you don’t want to get married, that’s fine. I’d be happy and content to continue as we have been. But I was hoping…thinking that maybe you felt the same way.”

There is a pregnant pause as she continues staring at me. My heart feels like it’s going to explode out of my chest as I await her response. “P-Peeta, a-are you ask—?”

I nod, and the smile that stretches across her face could light up this entire park. “You have to say it, Peeta. You have to ask the question if you want an answer.” She grins.

I know what she means. She wants me to do it right. So, I pull myself off the ground, crouching on a single knee and taking the black box from her hand. I open it, so it’s facing her, and ask the million-dollar question.

“Katniss Everdeen, my best friend, my other half, the love of my life, will you make me the happiest man in all the galaxies and take me as your husband? Put up with me when I’m smelly and grumpy, and allow me to make you cheese buns for the rest of our days?”

Tears are streaming down her cheeks, and she can’t seem to get rid of the ear-splitting grin breaking her face as she nods her head fiercely up and down. Then she offers her hand to me, her fingers equidistantly spaced apart so that I can slide the ring onto her finger.

Once the ring is on, she brings it closer to her face to inspect it and says, “It’s perfect.” Then, she once again tackles me to the ground. With a leg straddled on either side of my hips, she pins my hands on either side of my face and presses her lips to mine.

“So, what are we going to do with our last hour?” She whispers into my ear.

Mary, Mary, Quite Contrary

Sherlockians, I want to talk about Mary. Or not about Mary the character, because enough words have been spent on that topic and I’m nowhere near brave enough to wade into that one on a snowy Sunday afternoon, but rather on the way we as readers can (perhaps should) relate to her. At some level what follows is about this Tumblr post, where an anonymous commenter asked for “any fics where Mary’s not the bad guy” and noticed that a lot of the evil-Mary fanworks “gets a bit misogynistic in my opinion”; but I’m also using that as something of a springboard, and don’t mean this as a direct reply to that post. (Which is why I’m not replying in a reblog; please everyone go check out that post and comment on it as well.)

Anyway, let me start with two basic points that I hope are pretty noncontroversial.

Mary is an antagonist, at least some of the time.

Mary has at least some aspects of her character that are bad-making (more on what I mean by “bad-making” in a moment), or at least would be if she were a real person.

The devil’s in the details here, as it is with most things worth talking about, so let’s unpack that a bit.

When I say someone’s an antagonist, I’m not really making a value-judgment. I’m purposefully avoiding that word, “villain,” which calls to mind “villainous” as a description of their personality and character. An antagonist is just someone who plot-wise stands in opposition to the character. They’re wrapped up in the conflict our hero has to overcome.

Let’s take a pretty straightforward (and unrelated to our fandom, so hopefully less emotionally charged for a lot of us) example: the first “Hunger Games” book. Katniss is thrown into a gladiatorial fight to the death with twenty-three other teenagers. With the exception of Rue and (later in the games) Peeta, everyone else is an antagonist in relation to Katniss. She has to hope for their death and be prepared to kill them because their continued existence stands in the way of her surviving the games. Most are reduced to numbers with s knowing precious little about them – certainly not enough to think they deserve death. But they’re still antagonists because they’re obstacles the hero has to work past if she hopes to succeed.

Or take Draco Malfoy, in the early Harry Potter books. He’s a thoroughly unpleasant boy, spoiled and sniveling certainly, but I’d be hard-pressed to call him bad. His biggest defining characteristic is he stands up and tries to fight Harry; but often as not this comes down to inter-house squabbling and the only reason he and Harry are on opposite sides is how they were sorted. As we learn, given the way he was raised and the political situation he was raised in, it’s actually pretty admirable how on the periphery of the Death Eaters he stays. But he’s still the antagonist, he’s the one Harry has to outsmart or outperform or otherwise get around.

It's only natural we cheer when the antagonists fail. We’re primed to identify with the protagonist, after all, and their failure means the protagonist gets to win. Even if objectively know the antagonist doesn’t actually deserve to fail, well. That’s just kind of how stories work.

Getting back to Sherlock, I said it’s pretty noncontroversial that Mary’s an antagonist. So when I say that I don’t mean she’s evil, or even that she’s only an antagonist. But the woman shoots our star character in the chest. It’s her secrets and her very presence that drive Sherlock into exile (and drive Sherlock and John apart) for a second time, undoing whatever victory Sherlock achieved when he defeated Moriarty’s web. She’s certainly a problem to be addressed and worked past in HLV. In terms of canon and parallels with the Doyle stories, there’s quite a lot about her actions (particular in Leinster Gardens) that all but screams “Sebastian Moran.” Ergo: antagonist.

There’s also a quieter, more ordinary sense that I suspect will be more controversial but is worth talking about anyway. Like a lot of Sherlockians and Johnlockers, I’m a big fan of making space for John/Mary/Sherlock in happy OT3 land. I think Sherlock and John at least want some version of that in canon; maybe not romantically, but they like to imagine their being room in their lives for these different relationships to not be in conflict. But in BBC-canon that hope’s not really borne out. This deserves a full meta on its own, but briefly: when Mary observes that neither she nor Sherlock were “the first” (talking about Sholto), she situates them in competition for the same position in John’s life, rather than in distinct, complementary ones (which an OT3 seems to require); and when Sherlock notes at the end of TSOT episode that “we can’t all three dance,” he seems to come to a similar conclusion. I do love me some good Johnlockary fic, but I don’t think this is where the show was heading

At a more basic level, I’d actually argue it almost has to be this way with these three- at least if we’re to hold on to John and Sherlock being “the two of us against the world.” In the 1800s men and women had such different roles in society, a man would do very different things and relate in very different ways to his close (male) friends than he would to his (female) wife. So Watson could run off with Holmes and have adventure, then return home to Mary for the peaceful, even loving family life, without one really being in tension with the other. But by the twenty-first century those spheres aren’t nearly so different. Even if you don’t imagine them as lovers, it’s hard not to imagine a self-respecting woman today saying as Mary did in TAB, “I don’t mind you going; I mind you leaving me behind.” One of the biggest challenges for a modern Holmes adaptation (or indeed, for a modern consumer of the original Doyle stories) is how to balance Holmes’ and Watson’s private “intimate partnership” – however we understand that term – against (John) Watson’s marriage to Mary with all we moderns expect of that relationship in terms of emotional fidelity, equal partnership, shared future, etc.

Put more simply: Mary should throw a monkey-wrench in the mix; she should be something that must be accounted for and whose presence should affect how Holmes and Watson can interact. Not to mean her presence is incompatible with Holmes and Watson’s close and exclusive relationship, but at a minimum she’s a factor in need of an explanation. She can’t help but be antagonistic, at least to some interpretations of Holmes’s and (John) Watson’s relationship.

As I said, with antagonists, it’s only natural to cheer for the protagonists, which almost inevitably means rooting for the protagonists’ failure. At least we root for them being de-antagonized, converted into some other relationship to the main character. But if you’ve spent any time on AO3, you’ve probably come across fanfic focusing on the antagonists (*cough* Loki *cough**cough* Drary *hacks up a longue* Silm-fandom-this-one’s-for-you *cough*’s). We can be a thirsty bunch when it comes to our antagonists, for characters we by all rights should be primed to hate. And even at the level of primary-canon, one of the biggest ways the primary creator shows their emotional growth is by realizing their antagonists aren’t truly their enemy. Like most readers I had a tear in my eye as Cato suffered through the night, begging for death; and certainly I would have been outraged if Harry hadn’t saved Draco from the Room of Requirements in “Deathly Hallows.” Gollum’s treachery is explained and he is given his own completion; Darth Vader is spared by Luke and allowed to look on his son with his own eyes; and the Klingons, Cardassians, and Borg are given their own sort of redemption in Worf, Garak, and Seven of Nine.

All of which is to say: it’s understandable, even natural, why people would have a hard time rooting for the antagonist, but there’s a long history of fandom peoples steering into the curve on this one. So it’s also understandable, even natural, that people want to hear stories with them at the center, both new stories about them and also versions of the original canon narrative that don’t need them to wear the black hat all the time. Some folks want Mary, Sherlock, and John to all go crime-solving together. I personally think there’s sometimes a danger of turning an antagonist – especially one who is at least morally gray (and I promise we’re getting there) like Mary is – into a protagonist without wrestling with what turned them into an antagonist in the first place; so if you want to bring Mary back to the side of John and Sherlock you need to grapple with what pushed them into opposing roles in the first place, or else risk your plot feeling “cheap” and unearned. (In fairness, this warning could as easily be directed to Mofftiss as anyone in fandom!)

But at an absolute minimum, I think it’s pretty obvious that lots of fans want to imagine the antagonists as at the heart of their own stories, and lots of fan-creators have done a really good job of providing those stories. Just as a lot of fans will almost instinctively be drawn to hate them, well, if you want to go a different path you’re in good company.

Enough about protagonist/antagonist, which as I said is more about the role the character fills in the story than about their morality or character. This, for me at least, is where it really gets interesting.

Before we get started, though, I know a lot of people struggle against this idea of morality when it applies to fictional characters and fictional stories. They’ll point out (rightly) that just because they enjoy a non-con PWP doesn’t mean they approve of rape in real life; that their reading preferences come from a different place entirely than their moral judgments. But at the same time, a lot of people (equally rightly) struggle to enjoy stories that glorify things we don’t consider worth glorifying. It’s one thing to enjoy a story about Draco rejecting the Death Eaters, returning to mainstream wizarding society and joining the Aurors; quite another to imagine him dating Harry while he’s still walking around calling Hermione a mudblood.

Or getting back to the Sherlock fandom, a lot of people are most comfortable with stories with Mary’s the antagonist because she’s got a character history and just personality traits where, if we met someone like her in real-life, we’d consider her morally bad. Or on the flip slide, those fans who want a not-evil!Mary in their stories often like to imagine her as the kind of person we’d describe as good or redeemed or some such thing, if she were an actual person. Mary’s morality, at least the morality of a similar person operating in the real world (because --speaking as a former philosophy Ph.D. student who taught philosophical ethics for years-- let me tell you: talking about the morality of fictional constructs gets very messy, very quickly), seems to matter to a great number of fans. So let’s talk about that.

I said above I thought most people would agree, Mary had parts o her character that were bad-making. What I mean is there are aspects about her that tend to make a person bad, unless they’re explained by some other factor. I’ve got in mind something vaguely similar to W.D. Ross’s theories of prima facie duties (if any of you studied this in your Ethics 101 courses- you would have in mine). Basically, the idea is we have all these duties that apply to us, but they can seem to conflict, and we may decide (rightly) in any given situation that one or the other is the more important one for us to follow. The classic example is the duty to keep our promises and prevent suffering when we can. You can imagine situations where you can’t do both- for instance, if I promised to meet you for lunch and on my way to the restaurant came across a man who fell into a ditch and twisted his ankle along a deserted road, where it’s unlikely someone else would come upon him. If I stop to help him I’ll miss our lunch date and break my promise; and while I still have a duty to keep that promise, I think most people would agree it’s more important to stop and help the person. We’d all be hard-pressed to say if I helped the stranger, I’d failed at my duty to keep a promise; at least not in the same way as if I could have kept that promise and just chose not to. That’s Ross’s idea of prima facie duties: that we have all these general obligations on us, but which actually should govern our choices in any particular instance comes down to the details of that situation.

I think there’s something similar going on with Mary’s character. This is actually a good way to evaluate most of us morally, in my opinion, but it’s doubly useful when it comes to Mary because she’s simultaneously got so many troubling aspects about her that just demand some sort of justification, but at the same time, because Mofftiss really screwed the pooch here, we don’t really have the information we need to give a definitive answer. So it’s useful to say: here’s something about Mary that needs accounting for, even if we don’t have enough information to evaluate her definitively.

Let’s take Magnussen’s biggest accusation against her: “All those wet jobs.” Mary killed people on her own prerogative, and she left behind a lot of grieving relatives who would love their revenge – both a testament to the suffering she caused, and a real risk for John, the baby that will become Rosie, and everyone else in their orbit. But if that’s all there is to it, it’s not wholly dissimilar to John’s decision to shoot the cabbie. It may have been different, but we don’t have the information to know that; it feels different, but most because John was saving Sherlock (who we know), whereas if Mary was saving anyone, it’s not someone we the viewer have an emotional connection to. Still, to borrow a phrase from Ricky Ricardo, Mary, you’ve got some ‘splainin’ to do.

Or to take an even more serious charge, Mary shot Sherlock, was prepared to make John watch him die all over again and force him to go through that grief that so nearly destroyed him the first time around. Unforgiveable, yeah? The best shot at justification here is that Mary had somehow got herself cornered, so that shooting Sherlock was somehow an attempt to escape an even worse sitation. This really demands a full meta to dive in to, but very briefly, I think Mary never intended to kill Magnussen and was instead trying to intimidate him; meaning she couldn’t let Sherlock undercut her power, but equally she couldn’t leave Magnussen with the impression that John and Sherlock were somehow her partners; so shooting Sherlock was the best way to keep him from becoming a full target of Magnussen’s. If that’s the case, the whole showdown in Magnussen’s office becomes markedly similar to Sherlock’s decision to “kill” himself on the roof of St. Bart’s. Mary is willing to cause a lot of pain to avoid even greater destruction, but at the same time, the whole situation that compels this choice was fed by her limiting her options when she decided to intimidate Magnussen. Similar to how Sherlock, once he’s on the roof of St. Bart’s, has no better option than to fake his own death and leave John to grieve; but how he does have some degree of culpability for engaging Moriarty in the first place and egging on Moriarty’s destructive obsession with Sherlock.

My point isn’t that any of these parallels really hold up to scrutiny. Sherlock risked his own life in TRF (and John’s pain) while Mary was prepared to kill another. John was ready to kill “a bad man” to save our hero while whatever murders Mary committed were against unnamed people in undetermined circumstances, and narratively certainly don’t pull at or heart strings in the same way John’s heroic killing of Jefferson Hope does. But the point is, with Mary, so much of what a lot of fans object to involve these vaguely-told stories where whatever factors would excuse her actions just are left untold. What we can say definitively is “all those wet jobs” require justification. Mary’s willingness to shoot Sherlock require justification. These things are prima facie wrong (or bad-making, the kind of things that tend to make something bad in the absence of other explanations) and demand an accounting for.

I’m focusing on Mary’s violence more than what a lot of fans have identified as her abuse toward John. Partly, this is personal: I have my own experience with abusive relationships and don’t entirely trust my ability to parse similar dynamics in fiction; certainly I don’t want to tie that part of my past to public debate, and I’ve not worked out how to talk about Mary and John without over-personalizing it. But I will say, there’s a lot to be considered on that front as well, and people interested in thinking through Mary’s im/morality shouldn’t ignore it. As a starting point, inevity-johnlocked pointed to several of her old posts making the case that Mary was an emotional abuser. silentauroriamthereal’s fic “Rebuilding Rome” looks at a lot of these issues in a really powerful way if you’re looking for an exploration in fic form. I’ll just add, even if I thought Mary was justified and so “good” in some sense (and my internal compass is so screwed up, I’m not really qualified to tell at this point), the way she chose or had to lie about her past to John seems a particularly bad match for a man like him with his trust issues. So even if you think Mary is good, there’s a lot of justification for saying she’s still not good for him.

So what does this mean for reading fics involving a kinder, gentler Mary? First, I’d emphasize there’s no shame or judgment in reading what you want. Much as writers may choose to write about all kinds of things they’d disapprove of in real life, readers have that same freedom to scratch whatever readerly itch they like, with no need to defend that to anyone else. Kinktomato and all that. On the other hand, I know I personally enjoy stories more when I can lose myself in them, and – again, for me personally – it helps me do that if my values are at least compatible with what’s presented as praiseworthy. I don’t have to guard myself as I enter the story. So it’s definitely worth thinking about how comfortable you are with fiction that vilifies Mary or pardons her or something in between, because it may make it easier or harder to really immerse yourself in a fic.

Then again, maybe that’s just me. I am a rather persnickety chickadee with things like this.

I do know that many fandoms have an unfortunate history of coming down hard on the female competition to a popular slash ship. While I’m reluctant to apply “should”s to our consumption of fiction, I think there are genuine feminist concerns here. Not with thinking Mary’s bad/evil or even hating her, but hating her for the wrong. For me, it helps to imagine another character doing something similar, and think about why I would react differently if it was someone other than Mary doing the deed. Also to be aware of the details canon doesn’t answer decisively or answers different ways in different episodes.

(More than most characters, Mary does suffer from a really inconsistent characterization. I’ve often wondered if everything since HLV was Sherlock or whomever trying on different frameworks for her personality/psychology/what-have-you, to see which could account for what she did to him. First she’s a badass villain, then a Mycroftian operative, then a martyr, then a worldclass manipulator, and finally a sanctifier whose own personality was irrelevant, giving her imprimatur from beyond the grave. And that’s without throwing veteran/maths genius and happy homemaker into the bunch. Maybe the showrunners simply weren’t sure what they wanted to do with her. Whatever the situation, I do think we need to be careful about taking any one canon detail at face-value, especially with her.)

I’m also a little discomfited by this trend I’ve seen among Johnlockers, to write Mary as a monster as a way to lessen John’s pain at her… betrayal, I guess? Or just the loss at her death? I remember when a lot of fanfic authors back between S3 & S4 wrote about the baby being fake; or even after S4, as part of John’s “alibi” rather than a true detail. Or even just deciding the baby was David’s or some such. By itself, that could have been really interesting, but what I saw so often happening was people used that as a way to remove the complication of the baby. Or to let John skip the grief he’d feel if the baby wasn’t born healthy- for instance, if it didn’t exist, or died, or if Mary was killed or ran while she was still pregnant. The basic theme was if Mary didn’t deserve John’s pain, John didn’t have to hurt for so long or as deeply.

Complicated grief is a thing, though, and for a lot of people, grieving the loss of someone who hurt them and aren’t “worth” their pain seem to suffer worse and for longer, particularly if they also have to grieve the lost opportunity to make their peace with the person while they were alive. This doesn’t mean fanfic writers or readers have to give us some kind of sanitized Mary; certainly she has the potential to be a true east wind of a character. But I do think there’s a tendency to prefer a more evil Mary because this lets the story move past her or spares John some suffering often won’t feel true. It also runs the risk of disrespecting the suffering of people impacted by these kinds of losses. So while I think this kind of characterization can be really interesting and compelling, it also takes a lot of skill and thoughtfulness to do it well. Here be dragons.

For me, though, the point isn’t to be proscriptive, to say Sherlock fic writers and readers need to limit themselves to a particular read of Mary. Her character has such potential to give birth to such a wide range of fic. As a viewer of the show I wish the writers and other creators had given us more of a sense of who she was because I think it really contributes to my frustration with not understanding the story they were trying to tell. But as a (kinda-sorta-someday-once-again) fic writer, it’s a true embarrassment of riches. The trick, for those of us concerned about Mary’s ethics were she a real person, is to be aware of the dangers of reading her character certain ways and to be cautious around them if we want to play with those interpretations.

Sci-fi shenanigans!

Hello ladies, gents and fellow rpers. After having a writing blast and seeing how I’ve got room for some more partners I’ve decided to come back in search of some partners who are interested in what I’m looking for.I’ve got a good ten or so odd years of rping experience under my belt but any potential partners do not necessarily have to have the same experience, they simply need to fit under these three things: -third person only with correct spelling, grammar and punctuation. - at least one small (no less than seven lines) paragraph per post as well as being willing to write more if the situation calls for it. Please do not contact me intending to give me only small paragraphs with each response as the above is simply the bare minimum I’ll accept if there’s not much going on in the rp that warrants a full paragraph. -no one liners, one worders, script talk, poorly written sentences or just laziness in general. This isn’t terribly much to ask for as picky as it sounds. An important thing I shall mention is that NSFW (i don’t fade to black nor do I care when the smut happens. Just please don’t leave me once the smut has happened like lots of people seem to unfortunately do) and dark themes are a thing that occur in all my rp’s so I require you to at least be eighteen before you reach out to me. I will not accept anyone younger than 18 since I myself am in my early twenties. Underaged characters are also a no go as well. Please know that I’m in the eastern Australian time zone but almost any time zone Is compatible for me as I am awake at very odd hours. Another important thing I shall add is that you must be able to post at least once or more a day and if I don’t get any response after two weeks then I shall simply move on (only exception is if you notify me beforehand as to why you may not be able to post for a while. I’m not that vicious). I only rp as male characters, as it’s simply my preference, but I will do either MxM or MxF pairings. I will not double and I do not play multiple characters. I don’t do sub/dom dynamics when it comes to any aspect of the relationship. My characters are also non human (they’re aliens since this is a sci-fi rp after all) but what species your character is doesn’t matter to me at all as long as it’s not some god modded Mary Sue. Please remember that alien simply means a creature not from earth. Aliens can have fur, scales, feathers, etc, depending on where they come from. An alien with fur or scalies is not a furry or a scalie and please do not refer to them as such as it’s rude to label someone’s character as something they’re not. I will not write with someone who will insist that the theory of chimpanzees and humans unable to crossbreed should apply to hybrid characters regardless of whether they’re alien/alien or human/alien. This is fiction, not reality. Please also do not control my characters or dictate their actions. My characters are also premade and only have descriptions, I don’t do face claims or pics. I also do not care if you make a character up on the spot. Please remember that this is a sci-fi rp and that I will not accept requests to do fandoms or any genre that doesn’t fit within the category of sci-fi.i will not accept a character that has no place in a sci-fi rp either like a dragon,harpy,demon, elf or some other fantasy creature. I do have a few ideas and I’ve listed them down below: Space criminals and the law: *humans and aliens have been living amongst each other side by side ever since humanity dared to venture beyond the Milky Way and made first contact with aliens. With the solar system no longer being man’s only playground other planets were quickly colonised under the new alliance between extraterrestrials and Homo sapiens. Whether you were an alien, human or a hybrid did not matter in the known galaxies. All that mattered was who you were. Not everyone took to the integration very well (there were numerous protests on both sides) but most people were willing to share in the hopes of peace. Not everyone had good intentions though……* Trouble in the alien kingdom: *the planet of (insert generic planet name here) was one of prosperity, hardship and wealth. The kingdom of (insert generic kingdom name here) was ruled by a king and a queen whose heir was betrothed to a rival planet in the hopes that a political marriage would prevent another war from happening. Only problem was that no one could see the rival planets true plans….all but one. Unfortunately no ones going to listen to a deranged commoner who probably may not even be telling the truth. What’s one to do when no one will listen?* Exile: *The wind howled as thunder crashed and shrieked all around the abandoned cargo ship. Rain pelted the metal hull, turning the ground into a cold, treacherously slippery and muddy shallow river. The ship itself had crashed into the planet countless centuries ago and was slowly being reclaimed by the environment. Plants grew from cracks in the floor as moss and vines decorated the walls. A figure sat miserably hunched in what was once the cockpit of the ship, their only shelter from the raging elements outside but not from the storm that raged inside of them. The figure leapt to their feet as the sounds of footsteps in the mud drew closer and they held their breath. Who would dare to venture out here on such a miserable night?* War of the worlds: *humans and aliens were never meant to coexist peacefully with one another. There was too much fear, Too much misinformation and too much bias on both sides for such a thing to have ever been successful. It was the humans fault that the war had started. They were the ones who’d shot down the alien ship that had been packed with specially chosen diplomats that represented each alien race known to the galaxies they dwelled in that had been on their way to earth to negotiate a truce and a plan for peace. They hadn’t even hesitated to shoot the ship full of aliens yet they’d been surprised when war had been declared on the spot. Two races. Two worlds so different yet the same fighting one another for what was either a mistake or intentional murder.* Rehab: *The UGWP alliance (unite the galaxies for the protection of all worlds and for peace alliance) portrayed themselves as calm, charismatic and kind men and women who held only the thoughts of a life together with all species living happily together. They advertised campaigns for inter species jobs, provided information to the public about human/alien interactions and encouraged diversity amongst planets. Their rehabilitation program for troublesome fellows was considered to be a god send to try and cut down on the amount of space related crimes. No one ever questioned what went on beyond the closed doors to the facility, if they did, the UGWP would have their darkest secrets revealed. Something they strove to keep under wraps. When the arrival of a particularly wild prisoner occurs, the threat of their first failure and first escaped prisoner is lurking around the corner.* (Important point of notice: in this rp idea I’d be playing said prisoner, I don’t mind if you choose to be one as well.) Academy days: *the galaxy alliance and military defence force academy was one of the most respected training academies in the known galaxies. Men, women, aliens, humans and all of those who were in between went there to study, train and, one day if they passed the mentally, emotionally and physically gruelling years of tests, fly and be put in their own squadron. There were approximately six spots to fill on any team and the cadet who suited that spot the most would be given the title of pilot, squad leader, second in command, engineer, gunner and navigator. Each team was similar but unique in what they did. Not everyone gets along though and rivalries grow high during that delicate time between graduating and being put on a team. What happens when the top student and the lonesome outcast with a temper clashes?* Captured: *Space criminals have been around ever since advanced technology allowed others to travel and live in space as if they were living anywhere else. They’re often cunning, tricky to catch and more often than not are clever at disguising themselves whenever those wanted posters come up. It takes skill to be on the wrong side of space law and true talent to get away with it. The galaxy's current most wanted man has finally been captured by an alliance captain and his crew. Will he beg for mercy? Will he be given a trial before being thrown into a cell to rot or will he be given a chance to turn himself around with some hard labour?* (Important point of notice: I’ll be playing the criminal for this one. You will be the alliance captain) Enslaved: *imagine living the life of one of the most successful people on the run that could exist. Galaxies trembled at your name. You and your crew swam in wealth and the going was good. Mutiny, sadly and sometimes not sadly, exists on its own accord. One man reflected on this as he was forced to his feet. A collar attached to a chain and electromagnetic handcuffs prevented his escape as he stood for all those who cared to glance as they walked by in the market to see. No one wants to have their only life’s purpose to be to serve another......only sometimes people don’t get that choice.* (Important point of notice: I’ll be playing the slave/servant. You’ll be the master/mistress.) Sooooo..... about those pairings. What is in Bold is what I’m going to play if we choose the scenario: 1: enemies to lovers or rivals. 2: **captured criminal** x prison guard or other prisoner. 3: two soldiers from seperate sides falling in love. 4: **academies bad boy** x top student 5: **low ranking ship crew member/second in command/captured space criminal** x captain. 6: **commoner/rogue/street rat** x prince/princess. 7: **slave/servant** x master/mistress. 8: army superior x **lower ranking soldier**. PLEASE DO NOT APPROACH ME IF: 1: YOU GHOST AT THE DROP OF A HAT. 2: YOU ARE NOT WILLING TO PUT EFFORT IN TO MEET MY REQUIREMENTS. Some stuff

About Kodi and Majid’s parents that I was thinking about while making lunch the other day! Really, this is just a poor attempt on expanding on the bois in general, but oh well! Thought it would be easier to put these thoughts in a separate post instead of adding to their profiles since this wasn’t directly relevant to them (・・;)ゞ I guess?? dshgfjhdsf Honestly, I think this is more for me just so I can get some stuff straightened out. I’m pretty bad w/ consistency after all...

Majid’s Parents

EDIT (06/13/2021): Drew up some new headshots for Majid and Kodi’s parents! Hopefully they look a bit better than before!

Past me writing Majid’s bio: Yeah, keep the part about his parents vague;;; Idek what to do about that

Me on Monday rolling up some embutido for lunch: Hey, y’know what-

- Mother: Lara (won’t reveal her last name; when asked for it by Majid’s father, she jokingly suggested she take his last name instead) - Father: Kadir Ansari - Compared to Kodi’s parents, these 2 have much more info behind them b/c I have to explain both of their disappearances, so (・_・;) get comfy - Kadir---> Simple businessman in the Land of the Hot Sands; Made and sold jewelry for a living; Had a fairly small shop dedicated to his craft - Lara---> Runaway criminal from a land up north (if you ask me to clarify which country it is, I will cry;;; what does the Twst world even look like in the 1st place??)

Didn’t kill anyone, but rather a string of robberies and prison escapes up her sleeve; had a large family that she had to provide for, unfortunately this landed her in a lot of trouble

- Lara snuck into Kadir’s place late at night by climbing in through his window

She was immediately asked to leave

Kadir eventually relented since she had nowhere to go/he already had a long day at work and didn’t want to argue

- Once Lara explained her situation to Kadir in the morning, she was asked to leave again.

After breakfast ofc

Use the shower if you want to, but don’t use up all the hot water

And he would give her some money and other basic necessities to use on the way, but (￣ヘ￣) that was it

She really needed to go, tho; Kadir didn’t want to charged w/ harboring a criminal

- Lara begged to stay w/ Kadir, telling him in tears that she would do anything for him so long as he gave her a place to stay for the time being

Well... it wouldn’t hurt to have some extra help in his shop... and it would be heartless to kick a crying woman back on the streets, especially in broad daylight...

Fine. She can stay. But only for a little while, okay?

- When it comes to personality, Kadir is often seen as a serious man. He can become surprisingly raucous and joking w/ his friends and frequent customers, but otherwise, he was all business.

Has a fairly straightforward way of speaking; like Majid, he might come off as a little rude sometimes

His resting face makes him seem unapproachable at first, but he’s a pretty reliable guy

- Compared to Kadir, Lara has a more easygoing demeanor; fairly sly as well

Develops a habit of teasing Kadir once she warms up to him, either through her words or by constantly sticking close to him (this is probably where Majid got some of his clinginess from ngl); she wanted to see what exactly was behind that ever so serious facade

Kadir tries to brush her off most of the time, saying it’s not appropriate, especially in front of the customers; slowly becomes fond of it as time goes on

Tends to beat around the bush when she speaks; she won’t lie, but she won’t give you all the truth either

Oh! Yeah, and she’s pretty good at sleight of hand tricks too! :D These tricks seem to be a little more than just mere illusions at times, tho...

- Both of them are unbelievably stubborn (ah, yes, this trait comes from both sides of the family)

- They tend to butt heads a lot at the beginning; enemies to lovers 30k

- Speaking of tropes, these 2 probably become involved in a fake marriage thing so Kadir’s reputation doesn’t suffer when people see him bringing a strange woman into his house every night after work (*exchanging rings* “This doesn’t mean anything, okay? I just can’t have any more rumors.” “>:3c Okay, Habibi~” “... And don’t ever call me that in public, or I’ll pretend to not know you.”)

- It’s also a bit difficult for Lara to work at the shop at first

Kadir can be really picky when it comes to quality, and he certainly won’t lighten up on any of his wokers, regardless if they’re newbies or not

That and Lara can be heavy handed at times; knocking over display cases as she gestures to them and accidentally breaking parts of jewelry

I would love to say that she eventually gets the hand of everything, but :/ she really doesn’t; she’s entertaining to watch, though lol

- Once Kadir and Lara actually start falling for each other, they try to flirt in subtle ways, trying to get a reaction out of the other; or, at least, they think it’s subtle; oh gosh, their poor, poor coworkers ( ; ω ; )

- Lara might have had to wear some form of head covering/head scarf while working or out in public in general; her blonde hair and pale complexion makes her stick out like a sore thumb in a crowd, and she can’t risk getting recognized and taken back to jail again

- Majid... was an accident.

His parents were excited for his arrival nevertheless; Kadir would’ve bought a bunch of stuff beforehand like the worried father he was; Lara is happily spoiled w/ the amount of food she gets to eat during pregnancy (girl loves her food)

Once Majid was born, you bet he was coddled over; was often called Lara’s “little treasure”; Kadir was tempted to make Majid kind of like a mascot for his business, but decided that wasn’t professional (he really wanted to tho;;; thinks about it everytime he sees his son’s cute pudgy face)

- Lara was eventually caught and arrested; sent back to her home country for trial a few years after Majid had been born

Kadir leaves Majid w/ a trusted friend of his in order to attend Lara’s trial

He... doesn’t come back

The friend couldn’t afford to take care of Majid on his own, so he drops him off at an orphanage, promising to come back for the child once he had enough money to support them both

This man in particular works hard to set up his own appraisal/curio shop in the future and ohoho >:3c things are really coming together now

- Majid spent some time in the orphanage before escaping; he didn’t like how strictly everything was run

escaped enough times that the staff members soon gave up on him and let him roam free

surprisingly, no one (w/ a few exceptions) remembers baby Majid nor his parents; the Ansari jewelry shop was closed down and set up for lease the day Kadir disappeared; what happened in Lara’s trial was essentially a mystery, but perhaps the consequences of it could explain these odd events...

Kodi’s Parents

A bit shorter b/c these 2 literally had one (1) summer to themselves before creating the child, so there’s no slow burn here

- Mother: Colette Sepiama (Maiden name: Roussel; took father’s last name in remembrance of him)

- Father: Dimitri Sepiama

- Co+Di= Codi (but, like, with a “K”)

- 1st meeting was a bit odd

- Colette was having a beach vacation, chilling as she collected seashells along the shore

And then some naked guy approached her, asking for help while sobbing his heart out

Didn’t want to find out what kind of “help” he needed, so she tried to power walk away, but he ended up tripping while following after her

Stared at the sad scene of a butt naked man crying into the wet sand for a couple of moments before wrapping him into a towel and paying a visit to the nearest souvenir store

He eventually calmed down enough to explain himself once he got the Hawaiian touristy shirt and khakis on (oh, gosh, now I’m getting Crowley flashbacks (;;;*_*) make it stop-)

- Dimitri was part of a little “experiment” a friend of his was conducting, testing out various potions on him at any opportunity

Yea, they were a pretty messed up friend; at the very least, they made sure none of their potions would kill him outright

One of the potions gave him human legs (since he was a cuttlefish merman beforehand)

The trouble was: How does he turn back?

- They were the kind of couple who shares one braincell, spending the entire summer working together trying to figure out a solution to his predicament

Also, Colette lowkey thought Dimitri was lying about the whole cuttlefish merman thing, but since she thought he was kinda cute, she agreed to help him out

- I mentioned this before in Kodi’s profile, but I guess I’ll mention it again; Kodi’s pre-contract self was basically a male version of his mom

Basically, she was the type to always keep her emotions in check (well, it’s not as if she had a choice; she was awful at trying to show her emotions)

The type of person whose angry face and happy face were exactly the same

But she was kind enough and didn’t discriminate, even if the person she was dealing w/ claimed to be a mermaid from the deep sea

- In contrast to Colette, Dimitri is more like Kodi’s post-contract self

He cries;;; a lot

He’s just in a new and frightening situation, okay?? (╥﹏╥) And his human body was significantly shorter than his merman body, so everything is gigantic to the now smol boi; he often follows behind Colette because, even tho she’s taller than him, he finds her reassuring

Colette finds his personality cute; she likes being relied upon

- ahsghj I can imagine these 2 going on library dates, flipping through books and maybe falling asleep at some point as the setting sun casts an amber glow over them through the dusty windows, and it’s honestly the cutest thing

- Also, neither of them have magical abilities, but Colette’s grandmother did; it basically skipped a generation

This is why Kodi’s magic is weaker than others’, but he works hard to improve himself

- At the end of the summer, Dimitri is turned back

Turns out the potion only lasts for a certain amount of time :/ wow

They probably had some sort of tearful parting at the beach, w/ this time Colette breaking into tears instead of Dimitri

- Couple weeks after the vacation :D Colette finds out she’s pregnant

Realizes her relatives probably wouldn’t believe her if she told them the truth, so she fabricated a story about a simple meeting w/ a cute guy on vacation she hooked up with

I mean, she wasn’t technically lying about that

Bonus! Berenice’s Parents

A perfectly normal, perfectly boring family

- Cassidy is on the left and Argos is on the right!

- Since Berenice was based off the spirits in the whirlpool as well as the river Styx itself/herself, I searched up the parents of the goddess aaanndd

- Kind of?? Based them off Tethys and Oceanus??? Tho they are both of fairy descent; Cassidy is half and so is Argos, so maybe (´･_･`) that would work out? In terms of making a child of their own??? I didn’t want to go against the set fairy lore in stuff like Pixie Hollow, so-

- I always covered the tops of Berenice’s ears to avoid raising any suspicion of her true background, but, yea, they are slightly pointed as well. Much smaller than her parents, maybe abnormally so, but they are there (side note: if you saw me accidentally draw berenice w/ human ears (*⁰▿⁰*) no you didnt)

- They lived with Berenice in an area just outside of the Valley of Thorns called the Land of Lotuses, so there was a large fairy population here too.

- As such, Berenice never thought to question if the life she was living was considered “normal” in the eyes of outsiders. So you’ll often hear her describe her past life as boring and ordinary, both to make a person lose interest and just b/c she truly thought she lived such a life.

- I described Berenice as being an only child, but I never go into detail on what happened with her family after she died 🧐 Did she perhaps unknowingly gain another sibling? Or two? Or three???

- lol wait I just remembered I described them as getting up there in age. Maybe in human standards they were, but they were still considered like??? Middle aged??? When it came to fairies???

- They had no prominent influence in the Valley of Thorns nor in the Land of Lotuses, but they were both considered a respectable people involved in an overseas trade business when living in their old coastal town.

- Both settled down in the Land of Lotuses to raise Berenice and also to hide away from a scandal that ended up bankrupting their company but shshhhh

Hello loves, I was tagged literal ages ago by @curly-bangtan (who is such a sweet human btw! Thank you for the tag :’) it’s impossibly sweet of you) and am in the backseat while road trippin so I’ve finally got some free time to fill this out! I’m so excited !! I love these things !so without further ado🙃 Lessss gooooo

• slow burn or love at first sight

I guess to clarify, I love an instant spark of attraction and a long treacherous road to resolution- while also being painfully obvious that there is attraction and also while being overtly flirty but no one has the emotional motor skills to just be upfront about it already

•fake dating or secret dating

Oh, 1,000,000% fake dating. It is one of the single greatest regrets of my life that no one has ever asked me to be their fake date or gf. Because I would have been F A N T A S T I C at it. But I guess I’ll never get to live out that pretend to real slowburn in real life after all.... also, secret dating can feel really sucky and isolating so I don’t recommend.

•enemies to lovers or best friends to lovers

Oh god, must I really pick between my children? My whole life it was best friends to lovers. Now that I am currently dating the guy who was my best friend, I really melt over the fiery tension of enemies to lovers ... GOD! it’s so satisfying!!! But I think best friends to lovers still has to squeak by just by an ounce. (I’m a softy at heart, what can I say?)

•oh no! There’s only one bed or long distance with correspondence

Oh far and away, the one bed trope! No contest. Mother freaking amnesia A L W A Y S !!! Heck yes! Are there amnesia fics??? 🤭I’ve never found one! But I absolutely love this trope in stories and movies. One of my all time favorites- which AGAIN- has not had the decency to actually come to fulfillment in my real life: Like why has park Jimin never showed up spontaneously at one of my doctors appointments trying to convince me that we’ve been best friends who were secretly in love with other since we were 14 and we finally just got engaged or married a month ago and his life is incomplete without me but he’ll patiently wait for me to love him in return again in my own time but in the meantime, he’ll love me in any and every little way he can until I fall for him again? Huh? Where is it! .... was that too specific😅?

•Fantasy au or modern au

no contest. Give me medieval maidens and dragons any day. I live in modern day. Lemme tell you- she ain’t that special.

•mutual pining or domestic bliss

cue Schmidt from new girl-“I can do this AWL day, son- AWLLL DAY!!” Yessssss!!! Mutual pining is my crack! Give it to me! Always! Gimme it! (Why can’t I have the things that I want!) okay this is just a Schmidt quote/rant post now. ..... I really want to love domestic bliss. And some of the writers who are excellent at it absolutely take my breath away at how beautifully they romanticize the every day. But outside of their writing, I have no scope of how to conjure that wonder up on my own. It is a skill I deeply lack. In real life, I just wind up feeling like the bliss is boring- gimme some pining! Some angst! Some tension!!! Even if I do love me some fluff. Someone once I told me that I was in love with the idea of someone being in love with me. Gotta say, he’s not wrong.

•canon compliant or fix it fic

Honestly, I can’t say I’ve read very many of either. But I do like to see how people flex their creativity.

•alternate universe or future fic

My favorite tv show of all time is Fringe (god bless you, JJ Abrams). Your girl LOVES alternate timelines, multiple universes, flashpoint, paradox, butterfly/ripple effect- all of it!! Dear god, yes! Give it to me! (Also, every time I have a crush or dream that doesn’t work out, I comfort myself with the thought that somewhere out there, there’s an alternate timeline version of me that is happily existing with said boy or flourishing in said dream endeavor. It’s a tremendous source of comfort).

Although, I must say, in the comic realm, alternate universes can sometimes frustrate me- like genuinely, could we not just make the alpha timeline the most incredible one? Instead of the best relationships and plot threads never being actual canon?! Can we get it together??? Or are alternate timelines just the comic industry’s way of writing their own fix it fics, generations after the original protagonist has been painted into a corner. Also, how hard must that be? To write endlessly for the same character for 60+ years? We write one fic or a couple books for the same character... could you IMAGINE having to supply 60 years worth of consistent weekly or monthly context!!! Wild

•one shot or multi chapter

I prefer multi chapter because I prefer getting engrossed in an entire work/world. Usually I am left wanting with a well written one shot, because they’ve made it so real that I can’t stand not having more- so my greedy butt loves the feast of multi chapter so I can have as many delicious moments and details with these characters as possible.

I do however deeply admire the skill and brevity it takes to made a succinct one shot. @underthejoon and @kpopfanfictrash are both brilliant as heck at that. And it is admirable as all get out.

•kid fic or road trip fic

honestly, considering how much I swoon over men who are good with children in real life, and how much I look forward to being both pregnant and a mom one day, I really never get into kid or pregnancy fics. I just don’t? Don’t know why. But a road trip!???? Oh heck yes!!! 👏🏽Where 👏🏽do 👏🏽I 👏🏽sign 👏🏽up!!???👏🏽

•reincarnation or character death

Oh absolutely reincarnation. I love that. I blame sailor moon for that.....But also, I think it’s just very in line with my love of alternate universes and timelines. I love how everything is connected/weaves together and feels predestined in the best way. I’m a complete sucker for it

•arranged marriage or accidental marriage

Like @curly-bangtan I legit had no clue accidental marriage was a thing? Unless you count being drunk at Vegas and waking up with a ring or we’re on some Jacob and Leah/Rachel level ish (which is really and truly the WILDEST™️ story ever ya’ll) ..... but I love a good arranged marriage scenario. The tension/push pull and inevitable relenting is so fun. But will say though, why the heck do women always fight it? Like there’s literally a whole Kim taehyung or Kim Namjoon offering to voluntarily love you and you wanna whine about it???!?! How dare you

•high school romance or Middle Aged romance

This, again, one is a pretty firm, resolute one for me. I’ll take high school. I’ve always felt a little oddly uncomfortable with more mature™️ romance stories? Not sure why. But I think the really beautiful ones always hark back to the beauty of their feelings being refreshing like the innocence of their first love. I know I personally can over glorify youth, but I love coming of age romance (high school, college, twenties) and no one can stop me!!!! I will say though, I have a secret soft spot for the niche of story where people have loved the same person since they were young and the timing just never works out but they finally find each other when they’re older. (One day is like that, and film or movie, it will absolutely rip your heart out-my god, it’s beautiful)

•Time travel or isolated together

These are both freaking AMAZING! But if anything has been established in this post, I think it’s my deep love of alternate timeline/reincarnation/time travel stories. I think they’re all from the same cloth. I adore them (I just haven’t written one because I’m not sure I could do the subtlety of it any justice.) maybe one day. My favorite writers are rumored to have the same Myers’s Briggs type as me so maybe I too could someday have a fraction of their world building skill.

I 100% love both of these so neither is a loser. But give me isolated together AND one bed in the same fic???? Speakers blown

•neighbors or roommates

I have never had the pleasure of having an attractive neighbor, though I often pined for it. (I have a bomb idea for a neighbor Hobi fic though) I did have a cute neighborhood boy who occasionally cut the grass for us in high school. But that doesn’t really count.... anyway! I LOVE the idea of being roommates with an attractive boy!!! Like holy guac, can I please????? Cocktailing this trope makes me swoon harder than none other- best friends to lovers + roommates? Yes. Enemies to lovers + roommates? Holy heck. Soulmate au + roomates???? Hold my sweet tea. MUTUAL PINING AND ROOMATES!!!! Pregnant. Fantasy/magic au+ mutual pining + best friends to lovers + soulmate au + reincarnation + roommate au!?!?!?!! frickin dead in the streets, homie.

I cannot say enough how much I enjoy roomate au. In a serious conversation, I once legitimately told my current boyfriend that the idea of marriage freaks me out- but the idea of being best friend roomates with sexual tension sounds like a dream come true. God help me.

•sci fi or magic au

I love sci fi. Deeply. But I will never love logic more than magic. Ever. (All my infp’s! come join me in the comments. 🙈)

•body swap or gender bend

Body swap has always deeply intrigued me. Especially in film. But I’ve never seen it in a fic. I’ve always wanted somebody to be able to switch into my body to feel physically, mentally and emotionally like i do. The deepest level of empathy & jean grey telepathy if you ask me, even if the trope is generally used for comedy. But the idea of switching into a dudes body and having to deal with their anatomy low key freaks me the eff out. If I got stuck in jungkooks body, I don’t think I’d pee or shower for a week 🙈 sorry everybody. I was really sheltered ok? Please don’t come for me. Lol...... also, have never seen a gender bend fic. Not sure how that would work. Not my favorite idea.

•angst or crack

Angst is my crack.

Honestly though, if it’s well written, it doesn’t feel ‘angsty’- cuz that means whiny or clunky to me. Well written ‘angst’ just feels emotionally compelling, I think. My writing weirdly leans toward what I hope is real angst (I e solid, genuine conflict and not petulance), but when I seek out a read, I look for crack honestly.

• apocalyptic or mundane

I offer you one better- a love story of the beauty of the mundane amidst the apocalyptic.

Seriously though, the setting provides enough tension usually. Especially if it’s zombie apocalyptic. Just let jungkook’s fingers delicately trace my palm and smile, sweet and lopsided at me in the candle light, while we hide away in our little bomb shelter that I’ve turned into a jungle garden to bring life into this wasteland a la secret life of arrietty. sigh. Maybe I need to write this....

Fanfic meme (or my opinions about some fanfic tropes)

Thanks to @flo-nelja, I lost like one hour and half to do this post, you know my weakness for long ass meme. ❤️ on you, it was pretty entertaining.

So...let’s go

1. Slowburn or Love at First Sight: I’m never satisfied with the slow burn I read (or write, for what it's worth). Theorically I prefer slow burn, but it’s never slow enough, or BURN enough. I mean, for me, the slow burn involves some pining/longing, like they are accointances, then friends, then PINING/LONGING happens, then lovers. Probably the reason I love one sided love, because the feelings have time to grow, there is the pining/longing, with a pinch of angst ?

aNyWaY I love a Love at first sight too, I don’t like it in rom-com, because it’s often without any background, but in fanfic, when you know the characters, you have implicitely the background, so it feels like fate they will be together, because you went to read this fic for your OTP, so it feels right they fall in love at first sight, because you know they are good together (even if they don’t know it yet in the fanfiction). Again, it’s the reason I love soulmate au.

2. Fake Dating or Secretly Dating: It’s the last one I answered because it needs lof of thinking. Fake or secretly dating ? Hmmmm. I’m not often interested by the “dating” part, and more in the “feelings realization” and all the “confession part”. So Fake dating, I guess ? Like, they start dating and fall in love after ? And it can be funny, like quiproquo and clumsiness ?

3. Enemies to Lovers or Best Friends to Lovers: love shipping rivals and antagonistic relationships

4. “Oh no, there’s Only One Bed” or Long Distance Correspondence: I’m a pure victorian bitch

6. Fantasy AU or Modern AU

7. Mutual Pining or Domestic Bliss: Domestic is boring to me

8. Smut or Fluff: Not a big fan of fluff. I like some cheesy tropes (like Love at First Sight) but I’m tired really quick of fluff, so it needs to be a fic with other elements. And not tooth-rooting fluff.

9. Canon-Compliant/Missing Scenes or Fix-It

10. Alternate Universe or Future Fic: love the AUs. ALL THE FUCKING SUPER WEIRD AUs !!!

11. One Shot or Multi-chapter: It’s very rare a fic manages to stay good (like , interesting and/or coherent with the canon) during a long time, so if the fanfic is 34 chapters, for me, it’s a repellant, because it probably means the chapters are meaningless or the author loses themselves in their universe and forgot totally the canon. In my opinion, a good fanfic (I mean, ideally) has like 3 or 4 chapters, 1000 words at least for each one. So, I love one shot, it’s less risky to be disappointed.

12. Kid Fic or Road trip Fic: I deeply hate kid fic, omg, I hate it with my guts, for me it’s the incarnation of the patriarcal and heterocentric injonctions

13. Reincarnation or Character Death: Again, I hate character death (I mean, major character death - except if it’s canon ?)

14. Arranged Marriage or Accidental Marriage or NEITHER: Hmmmmm I didn’t read a lot of “accidental marriage”. I’m not really fan of “arranged marriage” neither.

In fact, I recently read a Reddie fanfic (1000 nights), it was in Las Vegas, Richie and Eddie were...plastered and Eddie pushed Richie in the chapel of a casino and they got married by a drag queen priest. Does it still count like an Accidental Marriage ? Because it was pretty funny.

15. High School Romance or Middle-Aged Romance: I feel so old when I read High School Romance fanfiction lol but even when I was 16 I didn’t like it. I like the characters in their own age, so SOMETIMES they are in high school but...hmmm it’s rare I read fanfiction taking place IN a school, it feels weird and more, it feels boring, because school is almost the same for everyone, I mean it’s a totes cliché genre. Also I don’t really like to imagine these fantasy characters becoming boring teenagers with boring occupations, sorry not sorry (but it’s the same with College AU, guys, I will kill someone if I see another art student pining for the annoying fratboy)

(I still read highschool BL mangas btw)

16. Time Travel or Isolated Together: Time travel give me headache. OH GOD I HAVE ONE RIGHT NOW !

17. Neighbours or Roommates

18. Sci Fi AU or Magic AU: aaaah a good supernatural au, like vampire au, werewolves au, demon/angel au, fairy tale au, hpverse au, incubus au or any other ideas. I love how it’s creative, I love how it can be super original, I love the potential in these idea, because magic AUs are very rich in themes, you can play on the medieval fantasy genre, the urban fantasy, the alternative timeline or the past (like victorian vampire AU 👌)

19. Body swap or Gender change: I don’t like Gender change anymore because first, gender is a spectrum, these fanfics are about binary genders, it’s a little bit cringy (but it’s not the real factor I don’t like it), second, (the real reason), it’s often male characters becoming female, and it often to make it “femslash”, so the femslash tags are FULL of gender bending stuffs about male characters, and not actual real femslash with the female characters, it...erases femslash and even if I’m not a reader of femslash, I think it’s sad, because it deserves its own space in the fandom, not everything has to be about the male characters (even the ones I love a lot).

You can say it’s more a choice driven by my opinions and not my preferences, but it’s kinda the same thing isn’t it ?

20. Angst or Crack: Dude, it’s not a hard choice because I don’t really like crack in fanfic. I like it in fanarts, but you take more times to read a fanfic, and I don’t like crack during a long time. Crack is more a thing you enjoy quickly, it’s something who make you smile for a second then you scroll (or share it if it’s really funny or inventive). But crack in fanfic, it’s like a too long joke.

I don’t talk about crack ships, because crack ships can be interesting. Sometimes, I don’t see WHY you ship it (like Gavin x RK900 in Detroit: become human, or Lestrade x Mycroft in Sherlock BBC), sometimes I TOTALLY see it, but it still fun to see the explanations to put them together, the meta, the fan theories...

In the other hand, about angst...I like the drama, I like the horror genre (if you know my blog, you know I’m currently in the IT fandom, you know, the eating-kids clown thing), I like tears and blood, but...when it’s too much, it’s too much. I don’t like...I don’t know explain it : sometimes, you feel like the author had to get out some dark things they feel, it’s therapeutic for them but you feel kinda uneasy to read it, because it’s so DARK, man, it’s not even about the canon, it’s all about the writer’s feelings, and really, it’s okay, myself, I happen to cope like that. But as a reader, I don’t like it.

So I like some angst, when i’m in the mood, but it needs to have positive things in it too. Or to be short.

21. Apocalyptic or Mundane: At first, I chose Mundane, but now I ask myself. I like the post apo genre, but I don’t like angst too much, like I said in the previous question.. But I still like it a little so...hmmmm it’s tricky. What is meaning mundane, by the way ? Mundane Lord of the Rings fanfiction, what is it ? What is MUNDANE in kids learning to fight with their quirks in a superheroes school ?

I will chose Apocalyptic because I love a good survival (and they have to cuddle to stay warm and save each other and cry by thinking the other is dead but in fact they are not and find a way to cure the zombie plague/find a safe place/kill the aliens XD)

NSFW Alphabet headcanons: Yugi and Atem

I’ve been a big fan of the smutty alphabet headcanon list for a long time now and I miss doing headcanons for characters, so I figured, why not make them for my cardgame boys! Then I figured, why not share them!

I wrote these with a reader-insert theme in mind, but honestly, my opinions wouldn't change dependant on a ship so if you don’t mind the wording sometimes specifying ‘you’ instead of an ambiguous S/O, you might also check these out with a ship in mind! Hope you guys like them, I did Atem first and Yugi’s are after~

Warning: this is very NSFW and I word things pretty explicitly at times...I have like, no shame...

Atem:

Note: I didn’t really have a specific ‘version’ of Atem in mind when writing these (as in, if we’re talking about Pharaoh Atem, or Yami), but I make the occasional reference to modern things, so just imagine a post canon AU where he has his own body in modern times whenever I mention something like dildos. (That’s right, not even a hundred words in and I already said dildo, just so you know what you’re getting into here lol)

A = Aftercare (What they’re like after sex)

Honestly, I think Atem would like the aftercare almost as much as the actual sex. He sees it as a way to show his partner that he can be caring and loving and he likes being able to express himself that way. He’ll pull you close, run his fingertips lightly over your skin, and place languid kisses on the top of your head or over your face while both of you bask in the afterglow of making love.

B = Body Part (Their favourite body part of theirs and also their partners)

His own favorite body part, while it sounds kinda cheesy, are his eyes. The only people who ever commented on them, instead of his lean muscles, are his romantic partners so he thinks of his eyes as being a very intimate, romantic part of his body.

His favorite part of his partners would be their neck. He likes how erotic kissing and biting it can be, but also likes to just rest his head there. It looks nice when you put jewelry on it, it’s the place you put fragrance on, it’s just an appealing body part to him in general.

C = Cum (Anything to do with cum basically)

For the most part he doesn’t like making a mess, so will prefer to cum inside of his partner or in a condom. If he’s being honest with himself, he prefers to release inside them because it gives him this very primal rush to know he’s filling them up. But he understands if his partner wants him to wear a condom and will go with their wishes.

D = Dirty Secret (Pretty self explanatory, a dirty secret of theirs)

For some reason, I could see him having very vivid sex dreams about his crush before they got together. Like, he’d wake up and be a heated, panting, confused mess the first time it happened, but would quickly push it to the back of his mind and act like it never happened. He’s mostly in denial because he feels guilty for it, like he’s violated them somehow even though rationally he knows he can’t control what he dreams. He manages to keep his cool around them next time he talks to them. But then the dream(s) starts playing in the back of his head while they’re talking and he suddenly wants to throw himself into the shadow realm he’s so secretly embarrassed. Poor thing, someone help him.

PS if this happened while Yugi and Atem shared a body (does he dream inside the puzzle???) you bet your butt that Yugi knows about it and is chuckling in the background at his distress.

E = Experience (How experienced are they? Do they know what they’re doing?)

Okay so, I headcanon Atem as Demisexual, as in, he really doesn’t feel sexual attraction to someone until an emotional bond is established with them. That being said I could see him still being very curious about sexual/intimate things, especially when he was a prince and young pharaoh. Sexual exploration and sex before marriage wasn’t really taboo in ancient Egypt so there wouldn’t even be a social stigma prohibiting him from fooling around. That, along with the fact that he was young and attractive and probably had dancers, prostitutes (cos that was also something that was legit and cool in most dynasties), and servants throwing themselves at him all the time... Yeah I could see him having a sexual encounter or two to satisfy his curiosity, but, ultimately figures out that he prefers a strong, emotional bond with his lovers. Also, he’s a fast learner so don’t think lack of experience means anything *wink wink*

F = Favourite Position (This goes without saying.)

Likes to pin you to the wall or headboard of the bed. Actually, he likes pinning you to pretty much any surface, as long as he can feel your body pressed against his and keeps your face in view, he’ll be pleased. He also likes any position that allows for a lot of skin on skin contact, he just loves feeling you against him.

G = Goofy (Are they more serious in the moment, or are they humorous, etc)

He’s pretty serious. He puts a lot of effort and attention into his lovemaking and wants his partner to be completely satisfied. Good thing is that all that seriousness really just translates into passion~

H = Hair (How well groomed are they, does the carpet match the drapes, etc.)

Ancient Egyptians, especially royalty, were a well-groomed lot, so he keeps things nice a tidy down there. You’d be hard pressed to see him go more than five days without shaving everything below that leather belt. Now the real question, that I want to pass on to all of you, is do YOU think the carpet match the drapes with him and Yugi??? I mean, could you imagine the color scheme of that hair down there????

I = Intimacy (How are they during the moment)

Passion incarnate. As I said above he puts his all into his lovemaking and wants him and his lover to get everything they want out of the experience. Can also easily be very romantic depending on the mood/occasion but I think that usually just goes hand in hand with how passionate he is.

J = Jack Off (Masturbation Headcanon)

Isn’t one to indulge in self-pleasure all too often. Not because he thinks there’s anything wrong with it or anything, he just doesn’t get the urge to that much. When he does rub one out it’s usually just a way to help relax after a long day.

K = Kink (One or more of their kinks)

He’s willing to try stuff you’re into for sure, but he himself would mostly be into some bondage with leather straps, sensory deprivation, and marking/love bites. He’s especially a fan of sensory deprivation, because it’s all about heightening the pleasures of touch to the highest level; and the trust it takes to let someone do that is a big turn on for him. Now, who’s getting tied up or marked with love bites? That just depends on the mood. For a guy who’s so in control and is a literal king, he doesn’t mind handing the ‘power’ over to you in the bedroom once a certain level of trust has been reached.

But there’s something else that’s been on my mind awhile...

Okay, I’m going to get real deep on you guys, so bear with me a moment. I think Atem would have a bit of a punishment kink. As in, him being punished by his lover. Hear me out! So if we’re talking about a post-canon Atem, I think he has a lot of guilt over how brutal and merciless he was at the beginning of the series, when he was first awoken from the puzzle. At worst if you go from the manga/season zero, he literally killed people, at best if you just go with the regular anime, he was willing to throw Kaiba off a castle wall without much thought. Yes, his compassion slowly came back to him, but I think he’d still have a lot of unresolved feelings, mostly guilt, surrounding that bloodsoaked period of his past. Then if we’re just talking about Pharaoh Atem, he’d not only have the general stresses of ruling a kingdom, but one of his duties is to personally sentence criminals, his own citizens, to very firm and harsh fates. So either way, I think he’d have some pent up guilt, and if he had a lover who he trusted...well...I think he’d get some deep, intense relief from letting them “punish” him. He may not even tell them exactly why he likes to be tied up and teased until he begs for forgiveness, but, deep down he’d know why and as long as his S/O is cool with it he’d have the occasional need to express that kink.

L = Location (Favourite place to do the do)

Since he likes to take his time with his partners, he’d prefer the bedroom. He’s not opposed to getting down in other places but the bedroom is where he has the most control, privacy, and comfortability.

M = Motivation (What turns them on, gets them going)

There are a couple of things that are surefire ways to get him hot and bothered. He likes his partner taking charge, grabbing him for a passionate kiss, or if they wrap their arms around him and start trailing their lips down his neck, that kind of thing. Also loves to see them in clothes that drape/hang off their body in a teasing way. For example, if you’re wearing a robe and it’s hanging off your shoulders, 100% expect Atem to slide up behind you and instantly start ravishing your neck and shoulders with his mouth.

N = NO (Something they wouldn’t do, turn offs)

He would be okay with experimenting and maybe even lightly spanking his partner if they asked, but I can’t really see him being into anything that has a high chance of hurting you. He hates the idea of causing someone he loves pain to the point where he’d actually be scared of doing stuff like choking or anything too intense in the BDSM realm. He’s brutal with his enemies but that’s the very reason why he wants to draw a line where his lover is concerned.

O = Oral (Do they prefer to give or receive? Are they skilled?)

Since he’s always so focused on both him and his lover being completely satisfied, he doesn't really have a preference for giving or receiving. He gets pleasure knowing he’s giving it to you and he’s going to feel pretty loved if you go down on him. Skill comes with practice, but, as I said before, he’s a fast learner and will take all the time he needs to make sure he becomes an expert for you.

P = Pace (Are they fast and rough?, Slow and sensual?, etc.)

For the most part, he’s slow and sensual. I think I’ve made that clear enough in some of the previous questions, but, just to bring it home one more time: He will play with you all night if he can, he’ll take his time and get you off multiple times if you can take it~

Q = Quickie (Their opinions on quickies rather than proper sex, how often, etc.)

I can see him indulging in them in specific circumstances. For example: if it’s post-canon Atem (who has his own body of course) and he’s still pretty high from an intense duel, he’ll pull you into a convenient closet/secluded corner and release all that emotion on you. In this situation, I imagine Wolf. Leon is not a person of words, and it is difficult for him to express his feelings that it is not only to show it verbally (even if he feels worry or great anger, unless it is Falco).

Although Wolf would not say it in a super romantic way, I imagine it more by telling him between jokes or a private conversation with Leon. Something like, a talk between laughs and jokes where they talk about how they are not so open to each other even while they are working together for a long time, saying things that maybe they both have a hard time saying, and Wolf says with a laugh "Oh a simple" I love you! ", and then shut up. Leon understands the awkward silence, and while Wolf tries to change the subject, the chameleon can do nothing but look funny and laugh softly. Maybe Wolf likes to open up among his friends and pass a good time, but to say “ I love you” to his partner Leon? That is difficult, but Wolf sometimes escapes his own thoughts and opens his muzzle more than he should do.

Okay, I already mentioned my interpretation of this couple in my previous answer, but I can answer this too.

All right, I think it would be hard for both of them to open each other. Wolf continues to look at Fox as a rival (because in my hcs, Wolf has a great rivalry even with James and still wants to demonstrate his pilot strength with Fox -) even after the war. And even if he had romantic feelings towards the young leader, he wouldn't see a stable relationship because of his role as a criminal and Fox as a hero of Lylar Syste.

Meanwhile, Fox, even if he's a nice and open guy with his team and friends, is almost the opposite with people like Wolf.

He still can't forget the shit that they fought in the war, to think that Wolf hates him and despises him for his past with his father or with Andross. Fox can't open himself to his guilty feelings with Wolf, he doesn't want to feel that he betrayed his father, Peppy and his team, anyone. It's a feeling that he eats inside, but that Fox doesn't want to teach. I will always see Fox as the positive and adventurous hero who is not afraid of anything, but I don't think he can tolerate more in enclosing his insecurities.

But the funny thing is, I can imagine that he would be the first to reveal his feelings to Wolf. Maybe at a certain dramatic moment where they both discuss their life, their complicated relationship, about the whole story of James and the war, and Fox is the first to say "I think I feel something for you." Being a big surprise for the leader of Star wolf. a talk that does not proceed to anything, but more like a bitter memory for both.

eeeeh, I'm talking too much, so I'll leave the answer like that!

Go out on fancy dates

Just kidding! Wolf and Leon are not a couple who like to go on elegant dates. Leon is able to wear elegant clothes, but specifically to enter private meetings and sneak to kill someone. Wolf doesn't notice much super nice details, so he doesn't mind going on a fancy date. Not to mention wearing exotic clothes. In addition, the two are just having private appointments in a bar or somewhere closed.

The only exception is when they are invited to a double date at a restaurant or a party. With couples like Caiman and The commander, or Galaxicos and one of his (many) girlfriends / lovers. Especially the first couple, because Caiman has a lot of fun joining Wolf, and Leon and Cobra get along despite their silent personality.

Wolfox.

In this case. Neither. I already mentioned Wolf, but Fox? Fox is not a party boy. Can I imagine Fox having fun with his team, Bill or some family member, but going to fancy and big parties? Nah, he prefers the small and mundane. Like a typical Papetoon boy. And as for dating, Fox is more about going to small, quiet places, where he can be the same and not have to pretend he is someone more clean and gentlemanly. Of course, make it a pleasant place for his partner to be comfortable and both can have fun.

Wolf and Fox on a date? Somewhere small and far from the people who recognize them. They would have no problem going to a bar and drinking until they were fed up. As long as they can chat, eat and have fun and ignore everything, they are both happy.

Wear matching outfits to events

Uh, they both wouldn't wear fancy clothes. But a clothes that make them characterize that they are team or couple, to give you an idea that they both have each other? Of course, Wolf will always be proud to let other people know that Leon is his man, and Leon is happy that Wolf is his man too.

Perhaps they are not completely obsessed with each other, but neither of them likes to see their partner being flirted by another person (*coff *people like Galaxicos*coff*).

It is not for aesthetic issues, only the two love to have fun and teach the team that is.

Fox will simply wear elegant or beautiful clothes if it is for Krystal. He will wear a rebel and worldly clothing if it is with Falco. With wolf? eeeeeh, it depends, sometimes Fox loves to humiliate him with clothes that he knows he will not like at all, but he will always find it fun to see Wolf's reaction.

Both are from different teams. Making his own trips, his own missions, his own life. It is impossible to travel forever to any planet they want.

And if possible, Fox will welcome Wolf to explore Papetoon with him.

Oh, the two already do. Living in Sargasso is the most comfortable environment for them. No cops, no Corneria or Pepper's law, just very calm until Wolf or another idiot criminal decides to do some stupidity.

Wolfox.

Wolf living in a place like sargasso is totally fine. It doesn't matter if it's a small, dirty or noisy space at times. Fox also has no problem living in a small place, he just wishes that there is not as much noise as parties, noisy neighbors or always a fan of his going around.

If it were for Wolf, it would lead Fox to live in the Sargasso, but it would cost him to take refuge from the criminals who hate him. Fox could not take Wolf to Papetoon for his criminal status, in addition to facing Peppy, Lucy, Falco or even Krystal.

If it were possible for both of them, they would only live on a remote planet. But for reasons already mentioned, they do not live together.

Have tickle fights.

It's really a very bad idea to tickle Leon :)

Wolf is very easy tickle. Leon always has fun making him laugh and humiliate him in public.

Considering the aforementioned, Fox would certainly try to tickle Wolf, and of course, he would make him laugh.

Wolf has the same fate as Fox, so in this case, Fox and Wolf would have a tickle fight just because of who makes the first one laugh.

Leon is not really very good with sappy names, but he will definitely always play with "Lord O'donnell", "My boss" or "My man". Wolf would call Leon "My scaly killer" every time Leon kills someone to defend him or Leon becomes intimidating.

Fox wouldn't give such sappys names to Wolf. He has never been very imaginative for that even with other people. But of course Wolf will always call Fox "Pup" because of his young age compared to him.

Even if he used it before to mention it or as an insult, he would say it as a game between the two as a couple.

For Leon and Wolf, hugging is the best sleeping position. Leon always manages to position himself comfortably to sleep with his man, and Wolf will always be happy to hug him.

On November 16, Ukraine’s Minister for Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture Tymofiy Mylovanov gave an exclusive interview to the Kyiv-based Pryamiy TV channel.

Within the first ten minutes of the hour-long discourse, the 44-year old top Ukrainian bureaucrat established his bona fides: he is a divorced Salsa dancer with Ivy League school credentials.

Following the collapse of the Soviet Union, gay men and women in many republics of the former USSR had to keep their sexual preferences hidden for fear of ruining their careers. To give the appearance of being straight — and often at the insistence of their parents or mentors — homosexuals would sometimes marry a person of the opposite sex in what was known as a ‘lavender marriage.’ Around the turn of the century, the color lavender was often associated with homosexuality, so the term was adopted to mean cover-up marriages arranged to keep up the façade of heterosexuality.

With the possible exception of Mylovanov, it’s okay today for Ukrainian public officials to be gay. At least two of his colleagues in government are helping their country increase public awareness and acceptance of non-traditional sexual orientation. Neither are opposed to smoking dope. Both Prime Minister Oleksiy Honcharuk and State Customs Service head Maksym Nefyodov are openly pro-choice, while 70% of Ukraine’s adult population still aggressively condemns this choice.

This revolutionary development was not lost on Ukraine’s stodgy ex-Transportation Minister Yevheny Chervonenko, who recently observed that Honcharuk and Nefyodov for years had not did skipped a single gay parade in Europe.

“Over the past three years, Mr. Honcharuk and Mr. Nefyodov have not missed a single Pride Parade in Europe. They always flew together,” Chernonenko said.

Already burdened with the colossal task of improving Ukraine’s economy by sacking thousands of corrupt officials, changing laws and providing businesses with new opportunities, Ukraine’s new cabinet have so far not spoken openly about their sexuality and feelings because of peer pressure and social stereotypes. That might change, though.

When Mylovanov was born, gays in Ukraine were prosecuted. They could be sent to prison for proven facts of homosexuality or sent to a psychiatric clinic for treatment. Many thousands of people suffered during this time suffered as a result.

Since then, Ukraine’s laws have been amended. Gay rights activists annually record thousands of cases of employees with nontraditional sexual orientations being harassed or dismissed by company executives, even though these actions violate the country’s new laws.

But the community of people in Ukraine claiming their rights is growing. Every year in on the capital’s main thoroughfare a gay pride march is held. There are also hundreds of smaller events, at which gay pride activists can meet one another and build solidarity. The events help others to share their experiences and mitigate prejudice and discrimination.

But Ukraine is full with active enemies of freedom. Marches under rainbow banners are often disrupted by members of right-wing radical groups and neo-Nazi groups. Public reaction to accusations of support of Ukraine’s gay community and recreational drug abuse remains negative.

Recently, several individuals took a bold step that shamed Ukraine’s homophobes for their closed mindedness and lack of cultural sophistication. Several army veterans of the war with Russia in eastern Ukraine openly declared their sexual orientation. Those who took up arms in Ukraine to defend their country enjoy great respect in society. The step forced many Ukrainians to re-think their attitudes and change their aggressive point of view about alternate lifestyles.

Ukraine’s neo-Nazi groups, however, were not impressed. They are currently attempting to influence Ukrainian society against the freedom of sexual orientation and Ukraine’s top three new officials. In October 2019, Ihor Mosyichuk, a former member of parliament, ultra-radical leader and commander of a neo-Nazi battalion that insulted civilians during fighting in Donbas, accused the prime minister of sexual harassment.

The scandalous post did not have much public resonance because the accusation was unconfirmed. Nevertheless served as a formidable warning that some people are ready at any moment to fight against those who are not afraid to express their sexual proclivities openly.

“It’s very hard for him now, because work is taking all his strength. His convictions enrage radical elements, who constantly threaten violence. We have not been going anywhere together for a long time. We are constantly forced to hide. I just can’t continue to live like that. We are no longer happy together. After his appointment our life has changed a lot,” Honcharuk’s close friend said recently on social media.

“For a long time we did not communicate properly. He used to be such a fun guy. He could always be found in several of our clubs in Kyiv. But then, all these events began to happen. Recently I saw him for a short time. It’s terrible. I can imagine how hard it is for him to endure all this, to hide, realizing that any false step can set people off,” a second companion commented. The remarks were subsequently deleted, perhaps out of fear of retribution.

There is no need to wait for new attacks. The example of Ukrainian war veterans, who declared their preferences openly, forcing society to respect them as they are, should be repeated by others, including Mylovanov.

Honcharuk and Nefyodov, meanwhile, have six months of successful reforms behind them and have earned national notoriety and respect. Their decision to “come out” could trigger a completely new level of tolerance, discourse understanding and openness in Ukrainian society.

In addition to enacting successful reforms, which will rescue the country from poverty, these three public officials can help millions of their compatriots change their views of the world and human sexuality.

Whatever comes from Mylovanov’s public service in Ukraine, one thing is clear: He has already decimated his reputation among American Goths. He’s transformed himself in Ukraine from an unknown economist-cum-minister, jetting between Pittsburg and Kyiv, into little more than a perceived lackey and yes-man for the new government. And it’s not as if he doesn’t recognize what’s happened; as he said in another interview, “I fall in love with people, however it is hard for me to maintain a relationship, because of my difficult temper.”

History of Ukraine’s Gay Pride movement

The Kyiv Pride March organization was founded in 2012. An attempt to hold a Pride March that year was blocked by the authorities. In 2013, Kyiv Mayor Oleksandr Popov called the attempt to hold the event “a mockery of Kyivans.” Gay Pride activists were still able to hold the March away from the city center. Some 500 people took part.

In 2014, city officials also obstructed the LGBTQI community. However, in 2015, the Kyiv Pride march was held nevertheless. Some 250 people took part, including members of parliament and ambassadors from some European countries.

In 2016, 1,000 people took part in the march, and in 2017 — 4,000. In 2018, 6,000 people took part, and in 2019 — 8,000, including 30 Ukrainian soldiers who decided to use the occasion to “come out” publicly. All events were relatively successful, although some radical leaders, including ex-MP Mosyichuk, attempted through the courts to block the marches.
