BEASTARS ☆ Legoshi Agere Hcs

jacks known him for a long time, i can definitely see jack being the first one to recognize legoshis regression and taking care of him because there is no way he can walk away from his regressed best friend in good conscience. i think jack would LOVE taking care of a little legoshi, he gets to spend more time with his best friend!

haru found out on accident. after legoshi started to randomly get so clingy and so quiet, more quiet than normal, she started to question him, leading to a distressed little, leading to a distressed haru, leading to a crying legoshi, LEADING TO A CONFUSED AND GUILTY HARU which probably led to her trying to calm him down, him ending up asleep and then woke up and started to frantically apologize and explain everything to her

- i also think that louis & gohin would play the role as babysitter too!

- easy, low energy little for the most part. sometimes the puppy will get a big burst of energy and really be up to play with whoevers with him!

^ i can really see him with those dog toys you play tug of war with!! ouhhhh:(((

^but when he is feelin low energy he would love to take a nap, be read a story too, or color/draw!

- will honestly act a lot like a real pup, he’ll get so clingy and nuzzle and sniff his cg, he’ll try to make himself as small as possible despite his large build.

- and a stuffie. a stuffie that legoshi bought himself, the only piece of agere gear legoshi has bought for himself. he loves that stuffie with his life, its the real mvp when it comes to chilling him out if hes upset!!

- gohin freaking the heck out when legoshi ends up small during one of their meetings. gohins seen this before, in his patients, and legoshi, a baby, a pup, does NOT belong anywhere near here, near the black market. god forbid he wasnt here, what if he was out there.

We know what Legoshi's yandere behavior is from his concept.

Legoshi is Obsessive, Caring, Overprotective, Impulsive, Patient, and Intimidating at times. Didn't mention this last time fully but he is Insecure.

His more feral instincts due to being a wolf make him possessive but he tries to fight his yandere behavior most of the time

Louis, an herbivore, is different.

He doesn't entirely have the possessive trait like a carnivore.... but he has some similar behavior.

Due to his character I feel he'd be an herbivore that tries to have an obsession like a carnivore if that makes sense?

He doesn't like to be vulnerable, he doesn't like to be seen as weak.

While he is friends with Legoshi, he'd feel he'd have to compete with him to gain your attention.

Louis is Charismatic/Manipulative, Obsessive, Overprotective, Caring, yet sometimes is Forceful, Possessive and incredibly Insecure.

Louis is a very deep character who has his own trauma. He's very critical of himself and sometimes others due to a superiority complex.

He'd probably want to be accepted by his darling, Legoshi is a similar way.

They two have had tension in the past and it may resurface if they both like the same darling, regardless of if they're an herbivore or carnivore.

Both yanderes are types who want to find acceptance in their darling, or some way to forget what they are for a while.

While both of them would act differently when it comes to what darling is, I'll try to keep it general.

A carnivore darling may make Louis more insecure and forceful while Legoshi feels a bit more comfortable.

An herbivore darling may make Louis able to open up faster but Legoshi will have the same issues he did with darling as he did Haru in the series.

They share a good deal of traits with each other as their characters are foils to each other.

You could've met both of them in the drama club.

Maybe you act or just deal with behind the scenes jobs?

Either way that's a good way to meet them at the same time.

Both yanderes are obsessive.

Legoshi is obsessive due to him over thinking when it comes to his darling.

He tends to over think a lot, it eats away at him.

Louis over thinks when it comes to his obsession at times.

He feels like he has to be perfect around you to get you to like him, that maybe you expect that like everyone else.

He wants you to feel he can be a good pick for you... that he isn't weak like other herbivores.

Louis actually has decent strength and carries a gun... so yeah, he isn't actually that weak.

Both yanderes are caring towards their darling.

Despite their insecurity issues, they both give their darling their all.

Legoshi wants to protect you and just be loving towards you, even if his instincts tell him otherwise.

Louis hasn't had proper care in his life, once he gets it from you then he reciprocates it in return.

He honestly just wants to be open with his darling at times.

Both yanderes are overprotective and possessive.

Legoshi is overprotective due to him feeling his darling is weaker than him. He's a wolf, he should keep you safe from harm... he should use his strength for something good.

Although, his overprotective behavior is closely intertwined with his possessive instincts.

Being a carnivore makes him overly possessive of someone he has romantic attraction to.

This can make the normally nonconfrontational wolf aggressive or challenging in rivalries.

Louis is overprotective because he wants to show he can not only hold his own, but also protect you.

Louis' possessive behavior is different than Legoshi.

He isn't possessive to the point it's feral instincts that control him, but he acts like it.

He wants to show he's better than carnivores... he wants to prove to everyone, including you, that he's so much better than them.

The deer is mostly just protective of you since he's seen the horrors of this world due to his whole past.

Both yanderes are insecure.

They both want to the opportunity to be open with their darling, they want their darling to understand them.

Legoshi wants to prove he's capable of being good for you despite his carnivore tendencies.

He truly just wants to find comfort in his darling and cling to it.

Louis is a similar way.

He wants to focus on just his darling, he's tired of having no control in his life.

He doesn't want the forced marriage... he always has to keep up masks...

He just wants to be open with you and only you.

He isn't weak... he never wants to show he's weak... but you can tell.

You're the only one in this case he can truly be "vulnerable" around.

Those are the traits they share... now here's their respective traits.

Legoshi is an impulsive yandere.

He's reckless at times, often due to his tendency to over think.

He'd mess something up with trying to court you then immediately regret it.

Like being caught stalking/following for example.

A fact Louis tries to use against him... in a way he wants the wolf to know his place.

Legoshi is a patient yandere.

Or... he would be if he wasn't in a rivalry.

He feels more rushed with Louis around so this trait is often ignored.

Especially when he realizes it'll be difficult to sway Louis' attraction away from you due to the deer's obsession.

Legoshi is an intimidating yandere.

Sometimes he means it, sometimes he doesn't.

He is capable of being scary, something Louis attempts but can't quite get right alone.

The wolf doesn't want to hurt his deer friend... Louis does not quite share the same sentiment.

Louis is a charismatic yandere.

This can make him manipulative due to his natural charisma.

He's shown he has the ability to be a leader.

Louis would be very charming towards his darling as he is very popular.

This could be considered an advantage he has over Legoshi, a much more reclusive wolf.

Louis can be a forceful yandere as an herbivore.

He can be intimidating in his own way, even more so if his darling is a carnivore.

He wants to be in control with his life.

Which means, in a way, he wants some sort of control with his darling.

Something Legoshi threatens.

Louis seems like he'd want to get in a physical fight with Legoshi while Legoshi tries to avoid it.

Although... if Louis challenges Legoshi's obsession, like saying you're better off with him, Legoshi will retaliate.

Louis would be better with charming you than Legoshi.

He'd be able to buy you gifts and say pretty words to you, he wants to keep up appearances and also slowly manipulate you into loving him more.

Legoshi is shy, he'd have a harder time.

There's times he tries, however.

It just comes out accidentally as him being forceful.

Then he apologizes again if he hurt you.

However, in terms of affection, Legoshi is better at it.

Legoshi wants to hold his darling and nuzzle into them, maybe even lick them if they allow him.

Part of him considers biting... but he holds back, despite what his possessive instincts tell him.

Louis has a harder time with affection.

He wants to hold you yet also wants to be held.

Louis would be possessive with his kisses when he does give them, but they're rare.

He feels hesitant to go full out with affection due to his past.

It just feels... odd to be vulnerable at times for him?

Yet it also feels right when it's with you.

I don't think they could kill each other, they also don't seem like kidnapping yanderes in this case.

They may get overly jealous and get into fights... but something prevents them from ending the other.

Even if Louis thinks of how easy it would be to pull his gun on the wolf... even if Legoshi wonders how good it would feel to tear into the deer... they don't.

Perhaps they know how much it would hurt you and stop themselves?

Overall, it's a constant game of courtship.

Many factors could determine who you go with.

Maybe you're into carnivores... maybe you're into herbivores?

Maybe you like the reclusive nature of Legoshi... maybe you like the bold nature of Louis?

Either way you'll pick someone in the end.

If one of them doesn't like your decision...

Then maybe they'll do something about it despite what you think or say.

I think I remember you mentioned an AU where Gosha adopts a young Melon. Would that make Leano and Melon siblings in the AU, thus making Melon Legoshi's uncle?

Oh yeah that AU! And yeah, it does!

So the story goes that sometime after Toki dies, Gosha gets back together with Yahya. They marry, making Yahya Leano’s step father, and they adopt Melon as a baby.

I need to revisit it again. After watching season 3, I now have this thought that Legoshi only ever calls Melon ‘uncle’ as an inside joke lol. And also imagining Louis and Haru’s reaction when finding out about Legoshi’s family dynamic. 😆

Basically all of my OCs have an assigned fursona. Jan is of course a wolf, though they're also sometimes a black panther. Marion is a feral stray cat (or sometimes a poisonous snail), Ron a small jackal variant, and Nat a hyena. Haru is a cockatrice or a phoenix, but when she doesn't get to be special she's just a chicken. Matcha is an opossum.

Louis is a bee furry. 🐝 Sven = Golden retriever, Lydia = rabbit (ofc), and then Teo and Juliette are the odd ones out. Teo used to be a toad, but that doesn't fit at all. He likes boar motives (very metal), but that fits the front he puts on, not who he really is. Juliette might be a white peahen or a swan, though.

The first art of John Beastars

To all two people who are actually following me: this is what I've been working on for like a month now. I have vastly underestimated how hard 3D modeling was, which is why I'm only showing the head model, and why decided to trace over it Instead of painting A texture. I honestly just need A break from it right now. Super happy with how the ears turned out though! I actually have a bit figured out about this character. Bio: John is the biological child of Haru and Louis in an AU where Haru got pregnant sometime before her kidnapping by the Shishigumi. Louis' aloof stoicism, combined with Haru's blunt honesty has resulted in A creature that is far more fierce and savage that anything A carnivore could spawn. Was a bit bratty as A kid (and will continue to be so as A teenager, lol). He was initially antagonistic towards his father in law, Legushi, even once culling him A cuck (to which Legushi had to look up the meaning of), but learn to appreciate him as he grew older. He was ashamed of his antlers when they first grew, trying his best to file them down, but encouragement from Haru, was quickly able to accept them. He doesn't have any extravagant goals or ambitions, simply wishing to live A quiet, peaceful life where he can spent quality time with his friends and family. While Louis can't let it slip that he has an illegitimate child due to the reputation destruction, he still tries his best to stay in his son's life, visiting Haru and Legushi at least once a month, and participates in events involving John and his legal family whenever there's an excuse. He is incredibly grateful Legushi for being A positive father figure in his son's life. (I, for one, cannot imagine Legushi as anything other than A doting father.) Louis wishes he could be more involved with his son, as to give him a better childhood than what he had. John is a member of the gardening club in Cherryton, not just because he has a great foulness for plants from his mother, but also because he knew from his mother's testimony that he would likely be the only member, would get the alone time he so desperately needs. And he was and he was correct: he was the only member of the somehow still existing club. Well... Except for A reserved but playful female reindeer in the same year as him, but she seems understanding of his needs for occasional isolation. (He also has a massive tsundare crush on her, FYI.) He has A close relationship with his two younger half siblings (who I'll we reveal more about whenever I get around to it): Kaguya (Haru X Legushi), and [currently unnamed] (Louis X Juno). (I'll probably name the Louis/Juno daughter after one of the daughters of Harris/Juno from Greek/Roman mythology.) I am currently anime only, and as of writing this: only the first half of "final season" is out, so a lot of this is based on assumptions as to where the plot is going that may turn out to be wrong in the future. But this is also technically an AU, so I can hand wave a lot of it as "butterfly effect from Haru geting knocked up", or whatever. Point is: please no spoilers for whatever's going to happen in the second half of final season. Thanks!

my annoying beastars thoughts under the cut. continue if you dare

the thing that makes beastars so interesting to reminisce on is that it is poorly written in such a way that it becomes actively difficult to engage with the story without interpreting it as a gay one. its really only aesthetic in the first part of the story, but after louis runs off and the murder investigation arc starts, all of the character points set up with legosi and his relationship to herbivores as interspersed with love are severed from haru as she's almost completely sidelined. the only conversations between legosi and haru are ones in which legosi is being a terrible partner, never hitting any actual beats that might progress their relationship's development. meanwhile, all of the beats furthered in a romantic or even sexual context are feature the relationship between legosi and louis, and while i don't think the story or author are intentionally pivoting, that fact + all the suggestive framing between louis and legosi + how legosi's character foil riz is pretty overtly queer-coded, ends up making a very compelling story almost entirely by accident. there are plenty of aesthetic and incidental things that make the story really... gay (which are sometimes half played for laughs, like like legosi french kissing riz to identify unknown saliva by taste), but i think the the most poignent examples are the more subtle but critically important plot beats like this:

(itagaki really should've had the foresight to involve the the actual intended love interest in the story, so they would be able to put that character in this very important scene. id argue this chapter is THE most important component of legosi's romantic arc, and yet haru is still MIA)

this is why everything goes so downhill so quickly (aside from the drawing-burnout on itagaki's part, and the random nonsense concepts of course). from a character standpoint, everything set up in the first part with legosi's character has pretty much been resolved, while his relationship to haru specifically is totally underdeveloped. so itagaki decides to just revert legosi to a previous state, undoing all the character progression and making him jarringly unlikeable as he appears to have learned nothing. meanwhile, louis has almost nothing to do, and haru still does not get the focus she desperately needs from the story. instead, random elements are thrown together, a few of which stick, but don't adress any problem or shortcoming of the story thus far and instead just make them more glaringly obvious as previous arcs are vomited back up half-digested as the story flails around, trying to latch back on to what worked. beastars was always a character driven story. the world was interesting, but could not stand on its own without the interesting dynamics that pushed the first and second arcs forewards. when those disappeared, the whole thing seemed retroactively suspect: the reader is forced to consider if the story was ever really that good in the first place.

the story tries to have it both ways. if it has ended here, it wouldve been the perfect conclusion to louis and legosi's character arc. the story with legosi as a protagonist would need to end here, or very shortly after, because legosi's internal conflict is largely thematically resolved, even if his relationship with haru isn't, because the story substituted louis, rather seamlessly, into her role in legosi's development. of course, it would be better if the story ended with haru actually having a character arc, but to move naturally past this point it would need to switch POV characters (ideally to haru herself). instead, it has to make an abrupt and very clumsy shift to continue with legosi, and fails both the potential for haru's conclusion to work and retroactively weakens everything that happened up to this point. i think a great deal of blame lies with the context in which beastars was being produced as well: a good editor should've caught this in advance, and the story was likely renewed for new chapters without a plan or really the full enthusiasm of its creator. thats speculation on my part but itagaki's interviews seem to strongly imply it. i have more thoughts but perhaps they are better saved for another time

Relationships Over Events in Manga and Life

I just finished reading the 2nd volume of Paru Itagaki’s Beast Complex (a collection of short stories about the Beastars universe) and Itagaki wrote a thought-provoking (or not, in her own words) afterword at the end of the volume about the stories she wants to tell. 

Itagaki said that she often wonders about whether she prefers to talk about relationships or events in her short stories. She says that she thought she liked talking about events at first, but admits that by talking about relationships, there’s added depth. Itagaki then reminisces about her living experiences near certain types of buildings filled with people (a dormitory in a large university, a cult headquarters, and a small theater were her examples). She said that she often wonders about what goes on inside the walls of those buildings and all the drama behind it.

In the end, Itagaki said she likes relationships as much as events when it comes to creating stories. She wants to put a nice balance of the two whenever possible.

Reading Itagaki’s words about relationships vs events made me think about how Beastars turned out. The 1st half of the series was phenomenal in my book. You had a major event transpire at the start of the story and while it’s a plot point, the relationships were on the forefront. We get to see characters like Legoshi, Haru and Louis grow due to their interactions with one another. When the major event finally gets attention near the end of the 1st half, we get to see those relationships enhance that event to deliver a creative payoff that satisfied many fans of the series. When it came to the 2nd half, it was a mixed bag. While there was still a focus on relationships and how they affected events in the series, things didn’t feel the same. There was one major character who was supposed to be the total opposite of Legoshi, but their development near the end of the series felt somewhat off. Beastars is still a great series though. I sometimes think that Itagaki was trying to figure things out with in the grand scheme of things past the 1st half and the focus became a bit too event-focused.

I guess it’s why I love Beast Complex so far. I really enjoyed the 1st volume a couple of years ago for its take on relationships in a very hierarchal system. The 2nd volume is more of the same. Like Itagaki, I share her sentiment whenever I'm around certain buildings of interest. I’m always curious about the people who reside/work in those areas and their history. I recently read a historical memoir about a Chinese family who spent many generations living in a specific building in Chinatown, NYC and how their relationships with one another helped them get through historical events that affected Asian-Americans.

The thing about events is they are often unpredictable or bound to happen at some point. That makes them stand out more than anything. When you talk about topics like mental health and trauma, people who suffer from trauma will say that certain events affected them for the worst. At the same time, what leads to events happening is an intersection of relationships working to create them. I can use anime conventions as an example. Yeah, they’re fun and full of exciting things to talk about. But anime conventions don’t happen without a group of passionate and smart fans coming together for a common cause. They don’t happen without relationships between that group and other interested parties who share similar goals/interests/wants. 

I feel that no one talks about how much relationships matter when it comes to why certain events happen. It’s not as simple as “Oh, this happened because I made it happen! I put it all the work!” Relationships are worth talking about more than events at times. They truly make or break people’s lives. There’s a reason why a lot of opportunities in life come down to who you know and not just what you know.

When someone goes through a rough event in their life, they can’t just gut it out alone. They have to rely on key relationships in their lives to get through the pain. Yet sometimes I’ve noticed that people are taught that they got this and they can tackle anything in their way without (or little) help as long as they optimize things like “life-hack” strategies that place too much emphasis on the individual. Having a community of meaningful relationships helps someone become resilient and able to take on life-changing events. They are what leads to better mental health more than anything outside of safety net support. 

Events can be fun to talk about, but I feel that if I’m able to spend quality time with someone I care about during events that’s more important. That’s what keeps me going.  Someone I spent time with at an convention once told me that they remember talking to me there more than the actual event itself. I’m sure it’s the same for many of you. I know the potential for drama and conflict frighten people, but there’s more good than bad. And good conflict is absolutely needed to grow. 

We focus heavily on events a bit too much and not enough about the behind-the-scenes of the relationships that make events the way they are.

Like Itagaki says, let’s strive to create an ideal balance of discussing the importance of both relationships and events.

Top 10 Beastars ships?

Tough question because my opinions can vary a lot depending on what I'm finding most compelling on a particular day, but right now:

Legomelon EASY first place, love them, enemies to lovers ftw.

Lougoharu or Louharugoshi. I'm more into Lougoshi than Legoharu by a small margin but I like them both too much to separate them. I also like Louharu although to a lesser extent- if it wasn't included in the OT3 it wouldn't crack top 10 on its own.

[REDACTED]. I love them but I'm entirely too embarrassed to talk about them publicly because I overthink everything I do. But I assure you it's extremely stupid and only an insane person would find it as compelling and funny as I do. Absolute dog shit ship.

Pinagoshi. I just think Legoshi would be a lot healthier mentally if he just fucked an annoying twink. Add Riz for flavor.

Bill/Louis. Louis likes evil felines, Bill is a morally ambiguous feline, enough said. Also, I wonder if Bill knew Louis was with the Shishigumi, and how he felt about that? Also also, gun play smut (I'm sorry I had to say it).

Melouis. I want them to rip out each other's throats and eat each other for breakfast. Sometimes the only thing a ship needs is incredible violence.

Riz x Legoshi. What if we both loved herbivores so much and yet we were still prisoners of our instincts despite that love... and we were both boys. Add Pina for flavor.

Louis/Free. I've brainstormed way too much about what the Shishigumi's lives would be after spending who knows how long in jail and the idea of them getting together once they're older is very appealing to me. I want Louis to be able to take a break from his arranged marriage to fuck the worst guy he's ever met- I think he deserves it.

Juno/Haru. Their one scene together is cute but it's nothing crazy. I always do appreciate the femslash ships in slash dominated fandoms though.

Agamelon. They have some fucked up smut and honestly, I respect that. Sometimes that's all a ship needs.

Louno could have been there somewhere but... eh. I was really into it during the first season but then Juno kind of had nothing to do for the rest of the plot and it lost steam for me. If Juno still had ambitions to become a Beastar and it mirrored the whole "you are in the light I work in the shadows" Louis and Legoshi had going on it would've been a 10/10 but it ended up kind of weak.

Also I'm still not sure what to think of Gosha x Yahya. I think it's very funny and also sad when it's unrequited but I don't really like them actually dating- I think Yahya should just take the L and accept that Gosha isn't into him.

🍇 His name was Lelo, I had him since I was a baby (he was replaced a few times due to incidents such as being yote out the window of a car by 2 yr old me I'm sorry Lelo). I slept with him every night and accidentally made him bald as I have trichitillomania, he went all over the house and on trips/overnight stays, and he was my main comfort object until I was 16. Then my parents dog got a hold of him in my room somehow (I closed my door often as their dog got into my stuff) and my mom found him in the basement as I came home from school and was searching for him, and she threw him away. Ever since I've been asking for a replacement every birthday and Christmas and trying to find one myself too.

🍈 I spend time with them and see what name feels right, or sometimes their colours or patterns on their fur help me decide

🍉 I tend to pick older stuffies, especially ones I had as a child (my parents got rid of pretty much all of them so I'm hoping to find them), well-loved or damaged plush that I worry won't find a home/have been there a long time, or ones that are really cuddly or stand out to me

🍊 In a pharmacy parking lot, I found a TY Beanie Boo unikitty that had been run over by a car. She was stained and soaked/a bit frozen as it was winter, she had some tears, her nose was broken and coming off. She needed a lot of love and help so I put her in my jacket and took her home, her name is Hope

🍋 I love taking them out on trips with me and taking photos of them, cuddling them and making kandi for them

🍌 I would love to own a huge Jellycat Lavender Dragon, a Jellycat Cosmo Monster,Jellycat Bartholomew Bear, a Charlie Bear, St. Louis Zoo Okapi Build-A-Bear, WWF Fennec Fox Build-A-Bear, Possum Build-A-Bear, a Nosey Bear, Jungle Joe's Safari Friends Longfellow Lion (my Lelo) and Zippy the Zebra, 1984 The Last Unicorn Plush, Quackers Beanie Buddy by TY, Whimsy Dragon Webkinz, Zombie Dog Webkinz, Black and White cat Webkinz, 1988 Littlefoot from Land Before Time by GUND and a lot more lol

🍍 One is my Purple Hello Kitty Build-A-Bear, I found her on FB Marketplace for $50 ($35 plus $15 for delivering her to me). Another is a childhood plush I didn't think I'd ever see again as she was destroyed by my babysitter's kid in front of me, I went thrifting and found her by accident, I started crying in the thrift, needless to say Winnie is home where she's meant to be

🥭 I love collecting older plushies from the 2000s or further back, I have a few 80's plush and even a little clown friend from the 70's made by Knickerbocker

🍎 I don't really organize them but we have shelves near my apartments front door that I display a lot of my toys, plush, and my books on, an Ikea book shelf full of plush, toys, and art supplies on the wall across from the bed, in that corner between the shelf and bed is where we keep a big stuffie pile, some are in storage in another room due to how small this place is and the rest are on the headboard/down my side of the bed. We also have a couch that has a group of plush next to it and along the back, and a shelf of squishmallows that one of the cats likes to hide in

🍑 I have a couple, my main one is a bunny named Haru, she's from Walmart I got her on clearance after Easter for $1.75 about 4 years ago. I sleep with her every night and she is in desperate need of a restuffing and a good brushing. Another is Jupiter Bear, he is a 2010 Limited Edition Star Wars Build-A-Bear, I found him at the thrift. He had a cigarette burn on his face that left a hole, and a few tears and looked very sad and lonely. I took him home and now take him everywhere with me, we do everything together and he also sleeps with me every night

🍒 When my partner and I went to their parents for Easter we got to go to the beach for a walk and to find some cool rocks, Jupiter Bear came with us and helped find some cool rocks and some little shells too
