➤ Inner thoughts/feelings

A HURRICANE of feelings!

Because of his past, Itachi has always considered himself unworthy of love - both to give and receive. The idea of having romantic affection toward someone feels almost selfish and he feels he does not deserve such happiness.

But the heart wants what it wants and despite his attempts to tame his feelings, he would find himself falling deeper and harder. Every moment shared together would give a glimpse of the life he always secretly dreamed to have - one where he can be free of the guilt about his past and where he can be worthy of calling himself a husband and, one day, even a father.

I think it would definitely take a lot of patience and hard work from his partner's side to convince him to give himself the chance to be happy. Given what he went through, he would never be free of the dark thoughts and the self-doubt, but the control they have over him would lessen with time.

➤ Public behaviour

I don't think there will be a lot of changes in terms of how he acts in public, to be honest.

He will maintain his usual composed and calm demeanour, not showing any signs of attraction or affection toward the woman that managed to capture his heart. I think only people very close to him, like Kisame for example, would be able to notice subtle changes as the way his eyes soften when he looks at her or the way he instinctively tries to shield her with his body in dangerous situations.

Itachi is highly aware of how other perceive him and he knows he cannot publicly show any fondness or care toward the woman he likes, without putting her in danger. How well he keeps his distance, however, would greatly depends on the fact if she is a civilian or another ninja.

If she is a ninja and part of Akatsuki, for example, he would keep respectful distance. Like I said, other than his partner, no one else would be able to notice the small changes in his body language around her. He would treat her the way he has always been treating her and would avoid lingering too much in her presence, unless absolutely necessary (like a mission or something). Sometimes he would let his eyes linger on her a few second longer, but other than that there wouldn't be any other signs.

If she is not a ninja, but a civilian, it would be a different story. I think despite his calm and stoic nature, Itachi does have the tendency to worry too much and sometimes be even paranoid. I think his fear of his enemies somehow finding out about his feelings would end up in them using her as leverage. He would go and check on her once a month at first, but the more he got to know her, the more anxious he would get about the potential dangers. In the end he would visit her almost every week and while most of the Akatsuki would notice at this point, I think very few would actually care.

The closer he gets with his beloved, the more thoughtful gestures he would make toward her. He would to her likes and dislikes, noting every minor detail of their discussions in order to surprise them later in time. I totally see him as the type of man who would cook his partner's favourite dish from childhood that she randomly mentioned in a late night talk a few months ago.

Even when he starts a relationship with the woman that managed to charm him, it would take a loooong time for Itachi to relax and show any form of physical affection toward her. At least a few months would need to pass for him to be comfortable next to her and twice as long for him to feel comfortable to actually grab her hand in his or peck her lips. His partner would need to be very patient when it comes to physical affection, but this man is totally worth it!

● Squalo

Squalo is Tuscan, Tiziano is Sicilian and there are a couple of reasons for this: Tuscany is a treasure trove of the Renaissance and many precious artistic creations, and Tiziano is reference to the artist Also in Sicily is very I mean, is VERY common and in demand fish, and Squalo is literally a shark, as his stand

He and Sale are brothers. ● Cioccolata

Cioccolata is the last one who is also Sicilian for me and I'm ready to explain why: In the anime adaptation, Risotto (who, according the canon, is Sicilian), Tiziano and Cioccolata have a single, unique manner of speech, which is especially clearly heard from Cioccolata. I can’t explain it, but just listen to their voices and compare with the others, they have some kind of abruptness, “stammers” and breath before syllables.

Based on this, Cioccolata has the thickest accent.

As a child, Cioccolata wore braces, which he installed for himself. However, he still has a natural "unevenness" and his front teeth protrude slightly, causing his upper incisors to show through unless he consciously closes his lips.

He sleeps a lot, which can be attributed to his slight excitability and extreme emotionality at work, although otherwise he is quite calm and even silent.

During each new medical experiment, he tries not to repeat himself, because otherwise the process will no longer cause the same pleasure.

Despite certain inclinations, he still adheres to extreme sterility in his work.

● Secco

He has no fear of Cioccolata. In the sense that he is still afraid of him as a person and an unstable personality. However, he is not afraid, because he is firmly confident that Ciocco wont harm him.

He has a slightly sinewy, but large and elastic physique, broad shoulders, to which a significant contribution was made by the stand, which requires good training of the swimmer, and we all know what swimmers look like.

Due to the huge amount of sugar, he is very restless, nervous and twitchy.

After being with Cioccolata for a long time, he really began to forget and confuse some words or sounds.

He is a Neapolitan and knows every corner of Naples like the back of his hand, so he poses a much greater threat in pursuit here.

Cioccolata often kicks him out of the office or forces sits halfway under the floor, since Secco loves dirt.

Logan headcanons!

second one to “form”, as curiosity tho, not logic (You know how babies try to eat everything trying to figure out what it is? That was Logan)

latter was renamed to “Brain” when Thomas started to do more long term learning/memory stuff

Has a library of all of Thomas’s memories in the mindscape, and each night while Thomas is dreaming, organizes it into “long term”, “short term” and “discard”, for any memories that are unnecessary.

Their library is open to all of the sides, Patton uses it to look through old memories (stored like scrap books/photo albums) for nostalgia. Roman + Remus use it to pick out bits and pieces for dream Ideas. Virgil sometimes looks through the most recent memories (or sometimes really old ones), and causes Thomas to get less sleep, Logan tries to calm Virgil down with more realistic views on the events, or tries to navigate Virgil to less important mistakes to fret over so any major things can be ignored for the time being.

Agender/Aromantic/Asexual/Autistic (me? Projecting? Never), and does not understand why they would ever need to follow any of the “normal” ways of doing things, they are a side after all, not an actual human, but will try to be a near perfect reflection of Thomas, in the mentality of “I am a part of Thomas, so I need to be as close to Thomas as possible”

They/Them pronouns (but allows Roman and Remus to come up with some neopronouns to use for them (they are allowed to veto anything they don’t like tho))

Knows how to walk in heels that would make Barbie herself trip (no one knows how they are able to do this (maybe not even themself))

Their main goal in life is “Making Thomas as efficient as possible without causing burnout” for this reason, they try to maintain healthy relationships with all of the other sides, so things can run as smoothly as possible.

With Patton, they usually bake together, but not cooking. (Baking is an exact form, cooking is more “try and see what happens”, therefore baking is like chemistry, something Logan can understand)

With Roman, they usually work on scripts together, but if no work is needed to be worked on, they both share Mythology stories (Roman likes the story parts, Logan I’d fascinated with how they used those myths to explain natural phenomena)

With Virgil, they are quite content with just sitting in the same room and vibing (Logan usually does research/read, and Virgil is usually napping w/ headphones in, or scrolling through memes)

With Janus, they will have “debates” about real-world going on’s, and possibilities of how Thomas would need to respond. (They usually just bounce off of each-other with similar ideas, there is not much disagreement most times)

With Remus, Remus is very willing test subject for more of Logan’s more “dark” curiosity’s, mostly human experiments and explosions (Remus would try to make real to life simulations in the imagination, in cording to Logan’s instructions)

Logan actually recognizes that empathy is needed to make a solid and logical argument, but is trying to help Thomas understand that he should not allow every single decision to be overwhelmed with emotion.

Logan struggles with regulation of emotions themself, where most may think that they do not care about something, they actually care very much, and has trouble expressing that. But also, sometimes they will have an outburst of emotions, which leave the others confused because “why was such a small thing, such a big deal?” (Logan feels immensely bad afterwards and tried to avoid the problem/topic)

The other sides do recognize that Logan feels very passionate about some things, and try not to interfere (Crofters for one, but will also allow them to talk about their special interests (stars/space) when Logan finally does get around to talking about it)

Doesn’t watch a lot of TV (not because “it rots your brain”, they just find that most action/romance/emotion driven plot to be frustrating) but they will watch documentaries for hours, and forget other things around them if the documentary is not interrupted in some way. (The others were very concerned about them when they watched the entirety of Planet Earth in one sitting)

They can feel all of the injuries that Thomas gets, to the full extent, but is not affected by “imaginary” injuries (The Remus episode, do I need to say more?)

Sometimes just needs to be alone for a bit, just being in their room, reading, doing research, working, watching documentaries, sleeping ect.

Tries to follow the “perfect” sleep schedule, as an example for Thomas, but gets easily wrapped up in work or a book, and that causes them to stay up latter than they intended.

Their favorite comfort food is of course crofters, but also enjoys goldfish, orange popsicles, and cantaloupe.

Their unicorn onesie was a gift from Patton that slowly turned into a comfort object, they sleep in it every night when it’s not too hot (will turn up the air conditioning and fans in their room, just to be able to sleep in it), and will get frustrated when they can’t wear it to bed (curse the Florida weather)

When the sides started making small changes to their appearances, they got a bit taller, and their hair got darker, as well as their eyes turning a dark blue color. (They use contact lenses while filming, and the perspective+ lighting causes the other changes to not be that noticeable)

Also has a light blanket at the foot of their bed that is navy blue with different constellations with their names on it.

It’s le piece of resistance, the episode of Fixing RWBY I contributed the most art to! Let’s take a look, shall we?

Believe be when I was obsessively looking at reference pictures of the castle both from canon and from RWBY: Fairytales, and hating the design of it more and more the more I studied it. xD It’s just not super great lmao, so I did some tweaking to the castle’s design throughout my scene, mostly adjusting some of the tower roofs and the layout. In this scene I’m particularly pleased with the statue of Salem’s mother now inset in the roof above Salem’s room. I had to extrapolate her mother’s design from the silhouette we saw in RWBY: Fairytales, and kept it relatively simple in the interest of honoring the silhouette. I think my favorite detail I added to her was giving her a fox-skin scarf. I also downloaded a star brush on CSP to fill in that sky, very fun to paint in.

Another thing I hated from canon and canon-adjacent material was how empty Salem’s room was. You look at canon or Fairytales and it’s like, “My God, does anybody actually even live here? How dull! It looks like an Ikea display!” So that was another one of my goals for this scene, that I wanted to design Salem’s room with a lot more Stuff(tm). Just stuff everywhere, as many necessities as I could think of for living, and clutter because she’s a teenage girl and she probably isn’t super tidy. A bookbrush I downloaded saved me a lot of trouble as well, for filling in even more Stuff everywhere. xD

You may notice that there’s a lot of stuffed animals and depictions of animals in her room, and that’s because I headcanon that Salem likes animals a lot, especially fanciful animals that have wings. xD I also felt the need to give Salem other hobbies besides just reading and writing, since even the biggest reader would get bored of that reading. Hence the painting easal, the embroidery ring, and the violin and deck of cards and dancing ribbon. Bitch(affectionate, Salem is my daughter) needed more stuff to do in a day. xD

This is an interesting drawing, because it’s actually right when I was shifting my style a bit! I’d discovered another artist whose art I admired, and so I was training myself to incorporate elements from their art that I liked into my own repertoire. It’s kind of hit and miss sometimes in how well I pull it off, but I like how this one turned out. :) Salem’s pajamas were designed at the last second as I was working the scene lol. I like how plaintive her expression is here.

This was a fun and quick drawing to do, and the first peek we get at the redesign we made for Salem! Explicitly, once we learned that Salem was canonically 16 when she was rescued, according to RWBY: Fairytales, we felt the need to redesign her so that she accurately reflected her age at that time. More on this further down when I share her reference sheet!

One of those more awkward moments on trying to work in a style I wasn’t super comfortable yet. xD More extrapolation on her father’s design, although it’s much easier to work with him since we have more visual reference on how he looked.

Another view of Salem in her room. The perspective was very difficult to do here! I wanted it to be like the camera was set right on Salem’s writing desk, and make it obvious that’s where the camera was and that we could see her writing implements in the foreground. But because the writing desk I gave her has an angled surface, it greatly complicated things in terns of trying to maintain a dead-on perspective and still keeping her writing stuff in frame. I kinda fudged it a little for the sake of visual clarity, after all was said and done. xD Her pen was fun to just doodle on lol.

Another fairly quick drawing. The longest part was lining up the text on the edges of the paper so that it displayed the way it ought to. Curious about what Salem wrote in her letters exactly?

Should you succeed, the Kingdom and all its lands shall be yours, and I your happy wife, to stand by your side as we explore all the realm we will rule together. —Graciously awaiting you, Princess Salem.

You just can’t help but feel sorry for how desperate she must’ve been, to offer her hand to the first guy who can reach her. And think of how lucky she was that it was Ozma who reached her, and not any of the rough-looking folk we saw in the RWBY: Fairytale episode. I made up the names of the location of the castle on the spot pretty much, and looked at proto-germanic for the name of the Kingdom. Would you believe me that I took inspiration for the structure of the letter from that bit in Monty Python and the Holy Grail? xD

More castle tweaking and redesign, put an actual wall around the whole place so that it was, ya know, defensible? xD perspective remains the bane of my existence, but I did a convincing-enough job with this. Happy Salem’s so cute, I don’t get to draw her smiling and showing off her dimples enough. :3

RED. I did also redesign the soldiers of the king’s castle. I actually forgot that we were given a glimpse of the soldiers in RWBY: Fairytales, and so went through the process of researching what armor style to use and how to dress them and this and that. And then I double-checked the episode and saw we actually had a glimpse of them. Oops. xD But I liked my design more than super-heavy duty one shown in canon, which I felt clashed with the castle’s overall aesthetic and the role of archers I wanted to portray them with. And so, I used the design I came up with for them anyways wwwww.

No longer happy Salem. :c Throughout each of the frames I drew for my scene, I kept playing with how the colors were done. It’s mostly filters to save on time, and lots of experimentation was done each time to achieve the exact looks I wanted.

I love when I can work on a drawing and profoundly feel the emotions the picture is meant to have. The perspective is fucked but once again i didn’t care very much lol. My main focus was showing Salem’s magic mirror now shattered, as she’s given up on ever leaving her tower. ;n;

Highlighting Ozma as the other main player in the story by him being the only other person given a full palette and not just colored with a contrasting solid color with the bg. :0 I did not give a flying fuck about attempting to replicate the actual design on Ozma’s staff, so we get a bunch of swirlies(and sometimes not even those LMAO).

This was almost a completely different image! The script talks about Ozma facing the King and his forces, and at first I just sort of copied what we were shown in RWBY: Fairytales. However, that never quite sat right with me. We’re told that Ozma used his cunning to defeat the king, but then the Fairytale just kind of showed him generically fighting the soldiers, albeit with magic instead of a sword? That never seemed very cunning to me though, and I couldn’t tell what the difference was supposed to be that made Ozma more qualified to rescue Salem than the others.

And so, I came up with the idea that Ozma really does use trickery and cunning to circumvent the castle’s main defenses and approach the king directly. It’s a little complex here and there was a lot of information to try and get across, but basically what’s happened is that Ozma has disguised himself as the dead queen in order to gain access to the castle and to the throne room without having to dismantle all the defenses. The king, of course, is able to see through the disguise with his own magic, but was allowing to hear out the charlatan if only for the novelty of their trick and the chance to see his wife again. I also felt it would be cool if Ozma used the image of the dead queen to chew out the king for his actions, abusing their daughter the way he has, and no doubt planning even worse atrocities in the future towards her in order to keep her locked up for the rest of her natural life.

A poignant moment  that deserved a frame by itself, and a minimal-effort floor lmao.

The big meeting! This was a moment I was very excited to draw. In small contrast to canon, I felt that the way Salem was portrayed in the show was that she was just a little too ready for Ozma to burst in all swashbuckling. So here I made a point to portray Salem as having been in the middle of something, because obviously why would she expect a visitor to bust in, let alone a complete stranger? She was occupying herself the way she always does, with her hobbies, in this case playing the violin.

From here on out the scene also uses more and more vibrant palettes for the environment, because ooo salem’s world is expanding and becoming more colorful thanks to ozma ooooo symbolism oooooo

Also a fun moment to draw. Salem’s delight contrasted with Ozma’s shock at seeing how young Salem really is. Plus I love dramatic height differences in characters, they’re so fun lol. You think Salem hurt her head at all against Ozma’s armor, rushing him like that? :,)

One of those trickier scenes to do, it’s always hard to figure out a character’s height relative to another when they’re kneeling. I think I accidentally drew Ozma a little small here, breadth-wise if not height-wise, but oh well. This is also the last view we get of Salem’s bedroom, fare thee well!

Here, it was all about the expressions for me. I wanted to emphasize the kindness in Ozma’s eyes as he pities this child who was prepared to offer him literally everything just for helping her escape a bad situation, and the lovey-dovey look in Salem’s eyes as she’s completely smitten for her rescuer. As a side note, I consistently struggled to draw Ozma. From his armor to his face and hair, he was just very challenging to me. xD

Some commenters from the video thought it was kinda funny that Ozma was covering Salem’s eyes as he led her out of the castle. I agree. xD It’s one of the smaller, practical things that I think make for very nice touches in storytelling. Such as Ozma realizing “it would probably be really bad if she saw her dad’s corpse on the floor, or the corpses of any of the other people who worked in the castle, I better cover her eyes and lead her out by hand.”

Some might note this is very different from canon, where it states that Ozma and Salem fought their way back out of the castle together. But tbh that didn’t really make a lot of sense, especially after the RWBY: Fairytales episode came out? If Salem could fight her way out the whole time, why did she need Ozma to rescue her? If Ozma had to defeat the king and his soldiers first to get to her at all, then who the hell were they fighting on the way out? The straggling survivors, the noncombatant servants? So we cut that detail, in the interest of maintaining logical continuity. Salem will have her chance to be badass and uber-powerful later in life, it doesn’t need to happen while she’s still a teen.

There’s also something I quite like about the imagery of a knight using his cape to help shield his maiden from something, very noble and chivalrous.

Had to shrink this image a bit for tumblr! The last frame of my scene, and the most colorful. Ozma’s horse here is a peacock leopard appaloosa! I was looking for horses so that I wouldn’t just give him a generic-looking one, and decided that appaloosas were perfect for a mage like Ozma. Spent a little more time detailing the forest here as well, I’m pleased with how it came out. It would’ve been nice to include a frame of Salem looking back and seeing for the very first time that there was a statue of her mother positioned over her room like a guardian angel, but alas, it would’ve been superfluous. :,) and i was tired by this point wwww

Now let it be said we like Salem’s canon design, quite a lot actually, but we like it for adult Salem, not a Salem who’s meant to be 16. xD We never expected we would need to do this, but @themixedcoffee​ whipped this up in the discord and me and Butterfly pretty much fell in love with it, it’s so cute and perfect, and so we just pretty much went and wholesale made it her official teen design. I like how she looks kind of bookish and unkempt, sort of like the awkward teen you might expect Salem to be, quiet and raised with good manners, but raring to let loose and run wild.

Of course, there were other redesigns which made their appearances this episode. O.O We reaallly weren’t jazzed by the technicolor mannequins that canon gave us for the designs of the Gods. xD We felt they could use more style, more flair, some pants, and just generally be more interesting to look at. For Light, we leaned into those eastern influences from his dragon, and went very bishounen for him. We also thought that Light/life as a concept was more nuanced than just creation, and that there were elements of a need to fight and defend in order to protect life, hence giving him the armor. We figure that Light specifically makes himself approachable for humans, which is why he’s so human-like(despite being 8 feet tall lol). Though i also liked adding the touch that when he’s angry the facade starts to drop and his features become more inhuman. O.O Another thing I quite like about his design here is adding a point of sharp contrast by giving him a purple gem. The darkness within light type of thing, to kind of bring the brothers more towards a yin/yang dynamic. Speaking of...

For Dark, our perspective was that he wouldn’t care about trying to impress humans or be approachable for them. He was the less-acknowledged yet still very important half of his brother, for without destruction there can be no creation, and volcanoes distribute fertile soil vital for plant growth after their eruptions.

As a slight compensatory act and a nod towards the more general prevalence of darkness as opposed to light, he gets to be twice as big as his brother. We were looking at all sorts of references and inspirations for him, to explicitly make as inhuman and macabre looking as possible. The cracks on his body also came from volcanic allusions, like his skin is cracking rocks. The floating, expressionless mask in place of a head came from a claymation movie about Mark Twain and a very creepy scene in it featuring The Actual Devil who also uses a mask instead of having a head. His forearms having gaps in them came from the 80s Bakshi movie Wizard, wherein the villain in that had a similar thing going on with his arms. Not really human, not really alive, and not really there either. I think my favorite part is probably his eyes being the sole spot of bright color in his design, light shining in the darkness.

And finally Maria!! I was very excited to work on her design and for people to finally see it in our rewrite. Some may think that it’s surprising that we redid Maria’s young design as well as her old design, but if you ask me, her young design isn’t very good either. xD I wanted her to have more colors, to have contrasting colors. To make the blue really pop and to make her look like the Grimm Reaper she was supposed to be. Hence the use of black and gray, with blue and orange as highlights to capture the eye. Tweaked the design of her mask as well to be more elaborate and a little more sugar-skull like. C’mon RWBY, you’re a 3d animated show, you can go for the fancy patterns and textures way more than a 2d artist like me can. xD We also made a point of making old Maria a more normal size instead of being a midget. I get that aging can make you shorter and Maria canonically as terrible posture, but it’s not that extreme. xD In both cases, I paid special attention to suggestions that were made by the members of our team who were actually mexican/hispanic/latino, which is actually quite a lot and they were very helpful to me. xD Maria’s goggles were also simplified just a bit.

Sorry to keep flooding your ask box but the coffee headcanon refuses to leave me. I haven't tried very hard either but that's neither here nor there.

I'm also now imagining Alfred and Luke getting together for coffee/tea meetings as a way of enjoying a drink with a fellow connoisseur. Please share with me your headcanon about Kate or Barbara and coffee?

(Luke has similar opinions on coffee to his dad but, notably, Not the exact same ones. in ways that sometimes distress Lucius. but that is also a long post.)

okay but see now you said it and now I'm thinking of Kate and Babs getting together for coffee and it's super cute and sweet. I think they hang out all the time anyway, especially with the Batfam being kind of a boys' club even when they try not to be pushy about it. so getting coffee together? yes absolutely.

Babs I think doesn't really care about coffee. like she needs the caffeine don't get me wrong, but it all just tastes like coffee to her? the first time she heard someone talk about flavors in the coffee she assumed they meant vanilla and hazelnut, not... just coffee. it all tastes exactly the same! so she trusts the opinions of her friends, which is to say, since she doesn't care, she's happy to let them care for her. it feels nice to get presents, and they like it when she says she likes the coffee. which she does! just not more than any other coffee she's ever tasted. (as long as it's not gritty)

so she gets a lot of coffee explanations and samplers from Alysia, who genuinely adores coffee, but mostly in the sense of what can she mix it into. she's made her own coffee ice cream, candies, cakes and cookies, and even tie-dyed shirts. she likes a lot of mixed drinks, but not complicated ones, like mochas, which she does by dropping a shot of espresso into extremely rich hot chocolate. so Babs ends up with most of her coffee knowledge applied through that lens, altho she picks up words from Luke and Dick sometimes.

Babs really enjoys it when someone brings her coffee. not only does she forget about it and let it get cold a lot, but also the number of buttons to press and things to move around feels a lot like programming, so it keeps nagging at her what she should be doing as Oracle. and she really loves having a chat over coffee, when she can get past that part. sipping a nice drink - any drink, coffee's just the most socially probably - with friends is relaxing and comforting. and she really needs the caffeine.

Kate is the opposite. she really really hates the taste of coffee. oh, she'll drink it, she's had to drink worse and she's over it, she can choke it down when she needs to. she prefers cheaply roasted stuff because it seems like a waste to be careful about it when she hates the flavor anyway, so she'll often drink the burned batches. they all taste burned to her anyway. but she hates the taste of energy drinks even more, and more than one bottle of soda starts to make her feel sick from the pure sugar and carbonation.

which is not to say she hates sugar. actually, she really loves the super sugary froufrou drinks she has to constantly post on social media to maintain her airheaded socialite persona. often sipping at them and winking. it's just that the leftover military bravado makes her feel really self-conscious when she thinks about that. she knows it's ridiculous! she has no problems being openly queer, and she even talks openly with her family about liking jewelry and dresses. she takes the girls out bonding with mani-pedis! she's not embarrassed to like girly things! except she is, this time.

so she tells the Bats she just does it for the ruse, like Bruce, but she doesn't hate them as much as he does, so she's happier going out on coffee dates and things like that. sometimes, on dates, she'll play up the butch angle, because the ladies like it, or at least a lot of the ones who stroke her arms and pet her short hair, and she'll just drink a plain espresso shot and pretend she loves it. but if they blush and admit they want a fancy drink, she'll get one too, not just to make them feel better, but admitting she likes them best. at home, she always has sweet drinks. her partners and sisters see her drink them, but she tries to hide them from her dad.

but the beauty of Babs letting other people pick her drinks and Kate have A Look she's going for (Babs helpfully photographs her while blowing at her hair to make it sway) means they can always get the special, which is a fun bonding element they don't realize is Their Thing until they've been doing it for most of a year. their favorite coffee shop notices, tho, and gives them free specials to celebrate on their anniversary. (they have to explain they're not dating.) so they start doing it sometimes when they go out for dinner together, too, even with the rest of the family, even without coffee.

Despite what Jiaoqiu might claim about his 'weak constitution', he does maintain a light workout routine that consists of different aerobic exercises, namely walking and swimming, which he does a few times a week. While you won't ever catch him doing 50 sets of strength training with Feixiao, you may come across him going on an easy hike around Rainsoar Lake or in the surrounding forests when he isn't too busy with his work. He quite enjoys being in the outdoors, whether it's listening to the gentle lapping of water against the lakeshore or the rustling of leaves from the trees as he sits in the shade. It's very soothing to him.

Chenhua sometimes likes to softly sing to herself when working on projects in her workshop or at home when she's gardening. Most of the songs she sings are foxian folk songs she grew up listening to as a child, and she's had the lyrics memorized for decades. She doesn't believe her singing voice to be bad (it's very beautiful and melodic), but she actually does get a little bit shy at the idea of singing in front of other people. In her mind, dancing in front of an audience is one thing since she's part of a troupe and doesn't have to sing during her performances, and she's also been doing it for many years. Singing, on the other hand, feels more personal and special to her, and I think she'd only share it with a person she really trusts and cares for.

hi anon!!! first off, i deffo wanna say uve come to the right place both abt luke hcs (because im a luke enjoyer first, a human being second) AND thoughts about his illness

tho i wouldnt say im bothered by how they dont explain the symptoms of his illness much since narratively, i can see how this would be necessary to maintain a certain amount of suspense on the NXX drug

however, ur so right in bringing up those other symptoms, bc ive got a bunch of thoughts and feelings about this!!

for context, i also have a longtime undiagnosed-after-years-of-tests neurological condition, but it's not serious and more just a lifetime inconvenience. i experience muscle myoclonus, which means that at any time without warning, my legs, arms, or neck can suddenly jerk into movement and ive actually got a bunch of those symptoms u mention haha!

but enough about that! lemme go thruuuuu

some of my thoughts/hcs on luke's illness

before i start, this is whole thing is going to be mixing fiction (tot's story) and fact (IRL information on certain illnesses, medications, etc). the fiction bit is important because while tot describes luke's condition and shows us its effects, does Not name what it is, and the whole thing is still shrouded in a lot of mystery. but the fact bit is important because there are real conditions out there that are similar to what luke has, based on what we know.

among them, Fibromyalgia seems like the closest real world condition to what luke has got, but since it's not outright stated in canon, i'll be making some stuff up. still, it's important to me to have like, a somewhat sensible system in making stuff up, which is why im laying down all this ground work jhvjdhsfd, and because in the hc portion of this post i'll be riffing off of some of my own experience

anyhoo, let's REALLY start with what we already Know

what we know of luke's illness thus far from all the available story information from the global server

key words in that above title are "global server", because im aware that main story episode 9 in the cn server looks like it'll give us more info on this, but i dont like to or want to spoil myself for tot's future main story. so i'll be working within global server parameters!

so heres everything we know (...or rather, what i was able to remember in the course of me writing this response HAHA), as its been outright said and confirmed in canon:

luke's condition is currently diagnosed as terminal

luke's condition mostly manifests in sudden pain episodes that happen randomly and without warning. these pain episodes are not described to be coming from any specific body part, just that it's pain in general.

these pain episodes happen without any external trigger (i.e. luke doesnt have a pain episode when somebody bumps into him suddenly, but he can have a pain episode out of nowhere just doing something as passive as sitting or standing)

immediately after a pain episode, he takes his meds

these meds are analgesics (painkillers) and he was prescribed them by his previous doctor (the one who was handling luke and his condition before aaron)

even now that aaron has taken over as luke's primary physician, luke still takes painkillers immediately after any pain episode to manage the pain

luke's condition was caused by the NXX drug. after a mission where his team was attacked with toxic gas, he was the only survivor and the medicine he was given was somehow contaminated with the NXX substance

the NXX drug causes damage to the central nervous system, and luke's condition is confirmed to be related to his nervous system because in SSR Under The Milky Way, he describes his condition very specifically with the lines "[The contaminant] caused irreversible damage to my nervous system." and "[I] will constantly suffer from intermittent nerve pain."

hcs on The Experience Of The Condition

the main physical symptom we see in canon is pretty clear: sudden and randomly occurring debilitating pain. i like to think it's of the stinging variety!! but dialed up to 10000000 because it's always shown to be intense enough that always luke reacts to the pain. and luke's pain tolerance is High. in personal story 4, he didnt even flinch when mc was stitching up his gash, but he did double over in pain, trembling and shaking, when he got hit with one of the pain episodes.

in addition to the pain though, i totally second the motion on the symptoms of numbness, tingling, loss of muscle strength (which then leads him to train more to compensate for any loss, because luke is a madman with low self worth and one of his skills is his physical strength so he needs to keep that up for as long as he can), and suddenly dropping stuff, the ones you mention. a

those are my thoughts on possible physical symptoms. but with a condition as heavy as this, there will be psychological/emotional ramifications too

because of how tot's canon shows luke experiencing the Pain Symptom, the pain itself is put front and center. but personally i also think that the fact this symptom occurs Randomly, Suddenly, and Without Warning is on the same level of "oh god why this" as the pain

in general, not being able to know when your body is going to start working against you really really sucks! you cant prevent it, you cant avoid it, and you cant see it coming. sure you Can prepare for its random eventuality through out the day, which is what luke does by carrying around his painkillers everywhere with him, but even then, that only alleviates the specific instance currently happening and not the overall trend of It'll Happen Again! When? Secret....

it's hugely frustrating. in my case with involuntary movement, eventually i tried to constantly and impossibly try to expect it so that when it does happen, i dont knock over glass to the floor or fall down the stairs

but always trying to expect something you cant predict causes tension and anxiety.

luke's condition is much more severe and painful than my quirk. so keeping a mental background program, so to speak, always running and looking out for a pain episode of his condition must suck bigtime.

because he'll basically always be bracing himself for pain, even when nothing is happening.

and on a metaphorical level, being constantly braced for pain even when things are fine is something luke does A Lot. luke is always worried and preparing for worst case scenarios, luke is always trying to think ahead to have various backup plans to ensure people's safety, and luke seems more used to pain and bad things than he is prepared for happiness and good things.

bracing himself for pain gives luke a semblance of control over something that is terrifyingly out of his control completely. at least if hes always thinking about its inevitability, he'll have things that can help mediate its effects. but the price for that control is a constant tension and dread building inside of him every second, because hes always waiting for the other shoe to drop

my ideal hope for luke's story when a kind of treatment for his condition is found

i dont actually want for the condition to be completely cured. like, dont get me wrong, i obviously want the Terminal aspect of his condition treated because i love him and want him to live a long and happy life, but i dont want all of his symptoms gone. personally, i'd find it much more compelling narratively if his condition is treated and will no longer kill him in a few years, but still causes him pain that needs to be managed with meds and other treatments. and why i want this is because:

1 ) given the sheer struggle of his condition in the story thus far AND the fact that luke himself literally said the damage done to his nervous system is Irreversible, having a medical miracle like that happen feels a teensy bit like a deus ex machina to me. (sidenote: ofc, ur free to disagree with me! and feel free to disagree with this whole post in general, we've all got different opinions and thats chill)

2 ) in general with stories, i am less drawn to super neat resolutions and im more drawn to resolutions that are more like "and things werent perfect and they never will be, there will always be problems, but our characters will be okay and theyll keep getting better and better, and it's in this push and pull of struggle and learning and progress and getting through where their happiness lies"

ever since luke was a kid, even before he developed his condition, hes had the fear of being a burden to his loved ones. and when he does get his terminal condition, this fear is worsened and he starts to see his existence in other people's lives as a whole as a burden of pain and grief that isnt worth the trouble. and...i dunno, i just like the idea of him continuing to live but also continuing to have these problems that still spark fear inside of him and still take so much work to manage every day. and out of habit, he braces himself for pain, not just for the kind his condition gives him but from Life because Surely, His Loved Ones Will Get Tired Of All Of This, Of Him and The Problems He Comes With, Right?

but surprise surprise, they dont. because they care about him. because this should not and is not a dealbreaker for them continuing to care about him.

aaron creates treatment thats more on the preventative maintenance meds angle so luke doesnt have to just wait for a pain episode to pop up and then dry swallow painkillers every time. it's not infallible , but sometimes luke can have hours, even a whole a day sometimes where the pain hes bracing himself for doesnt come.

mc always reminds luke to take his meds whenever luke gets too busy or caught up in a case. he worries at first that it's an inconvenience to her for her to have to remember his routines for him just in case, but that worry becomes quieter as luke realizes she reminds him in the same tone as she says "good morning" or "have you had lunch yet? wanna join me?", just this casual and loving thing thats now integrated into both their lives

the team are always ready to help too in their own way. when luke gets a pain episode in hq, marius offers distraction in the form of idle chatter on (harmless) internal pax gossip while luke waits for his painkillers to dull down the stinging. when luke feels uncomfortable tingling crawling across his whole body while out with vyn, vyn subtly helps luke move from a crowded area to a quieter one where outside stimuli cant further overwhelm luke's senses. when it's a bad grip strength day and all luke wants to do is punch something and fuck his useless hands up even more, artem tells luke about custom silicone grips that exist for things like pens or knives or such and that they could look for some next time they go shopping.

it is not perfect. but luke's life, even with the pain, is still worth living. everybody is trying to help and eventually, luke learns how to start helping him self along with them too.

i couldn't humanly find a way to make a short answer to this, so i decided to split it into headcanons JGKEMR thank you so much for your interest in the story and it's dynamic, i cannot tell you how much joy it brings to me wrote for <3333

Chrollo

Chrollo is almost infuriating in a way, since he acts like nothing is wrong. He speaks to you as he used to, casual as ever, as if you weren’t a prisoner with him as your warden. This isn’t intended to be insulting, he genuinely thinks you’ll adjust to your new situation better this way. While he does find it regrettable, there’s no remorse on his part. He believes if you simply acted in accordance to his wishes, nothing dramatic would’ve been necessary. You forced his hand, is all. It’s a shame, truly, but that’s it all is. A shame. He intends to make the most out of it, regardless. 

The biggest punishment is being in Chrollo’s presence honestly. When you’re mentally worn out, sometimes it does almost feel tempting to play pretend for a brief respite. Act as if everything was normal, your relationship was loving and healthy like it used to be; except it isn’t. You curse yourself whenever you think you’re growing complacent. Hatred is a tiring emotion to maintain, you find. Draining in its very nature. He’s worse than the serpent in the garden, whispering sweet yet hollow promises of what could be if you only gave in. It could be like it used to be, he’ll say. You were happy then, he’ll remind you. And I can make you happy still, should you allow me, dearest. 

Yes, being with Chrollo is a punishment. Because if you’re not careful, you start to believe what he wants is what you want too.

Feitan

There’s a great deal about you that makes him curious. The unique properties of your blood, for instance — Corruption, he thinks he’s heard it called in the common tongue. Unlike Chrollo, who looks at things from a more antiquarian perspective, Feitan fancies himself a simple man. He wonders if it influences your sense of touch. Specifically, your pain and pleasure. Feitan finds it thrilling that he can’t let his guard down too much in your presence. At the same time, it’s amusing to taunt you by pretending to lower his guard. Rarely do you fall for such simple traps, but seeing the frustration you work so hard to hide on your otherwise indifferent features really gets him going. 

As for punishments, his preference errs toward psychological. He’ll take away one of your senses — sight, normally — leaving you in a more helpless state which he admires from afar. Over the course of hours, even days, he’ll attempt to whittle you down. He enjoys running his cold fingers over the expanse of your exposed skin, though he’s most drawn to the muscles on your back. Watching them flex and contract beneath your skin is fascinating. He lives for the power rush it gives him. He can never leave you blindfolded for long, though, it becomes more of a punishment for himself. Your eyes are his favorite feature. While you maintain respectable control over your body language and voice, your eyes aren’t as eager to obey. They betray your inner resentment and he basks in it as if it were ambrosia.

➟︎ lets get this out the way: gojo and toji do not study. unfortunately, gojo is a certified genius and thinks that if he studies for more than two hours for a test, he becomes dumb. toji just can’t study to save his life so he doesn’t bother.

➟︎ i headcanon that choso has bad test anxiety so he overstudies a solid three weeks before the test bc he’s that worried. during these times, it’s best he study on his own with no distractions.

➟︎ nanami does not overstudy for his finals, but he is in the library for two weeks prior to finals week. he’s a lot more on edge bc of studying + his internship and he’s got a 4.2 gpa to maintain.

➟︎ geto mildly studies. like he does the kahoots! and quizlets. might skim over a few powerpoints and call it a day. his motto is “if you don’t know it now then you won’t know it on the test”

➟︎ if you’re the type that studies really hard, then you and nanami are in the library together. or you show up on your own.

➟︎ but if you’re like toji, gojo, or geto then stressing over finals is beneath you and you’re honestly chill that entire week of finals.

➟︎ one big rule though is no studying or doing projects at the apartment.

➟︎ honesty, you live with a gojo, a toji, AND a geto. if any of y’all tried studying in the apartment, shit would not get done.

➟︎ there was a time before you had came, where choso and geto were beefing mad hard. since choso is an architecture major, he once had to create a miniature version of ‘the thinker’ art piece by auguste rodin and poor baby worked really hard on it. like really hard, it almost looked exactly like the original one. well, geto also had a bioengineering project as a final assignment and had accidentally burnt part of choso’s sculpture due to a wiring error. that was the first time you had ever heard of choso getting violent to the point of chasing geto around with a knife. they did not talk to each other for a month.

➟︎ nanami makes breakfast on the mornings he doesn’t have an exam. in turn, geto makes dinner and this is to prevent y’all from splurging on food out of stress, or to encourage you guys to eat.

➟︎ unless it’s important, y’all barely talk to each other during finals week. most of y’all are stressed or tired and hardly in the apartment at the same time, so communication is very limited.

➟︎ toji does not do fights during finals week nor tattoo appointments.

➟︎ with them being seniors, toji has gotten more serious about maintaining his gpa and graduating. he also cuts back on fights because he knows you’re gonna be up with him and you need to be sleeping and not worrying over him.

➟︎ choso and geto do meditation and sometimes you’ll join in. it’s kind of hard to catch either one of them when they are doing it, but when you do it is so worth it.

➟︎ gojo put up a daily motivation board by the front door so everyone could feel better about their tests and not worried. bc unlike him, y’all are some worry warts.

➟︎ he only does this for you, but gojo gives really good massages and if you’re tense with stress or worry, he’ll come to your room and rub out all the knots. but tell anyone this outside of the boys and he will vehemently deny such action and call you a weirdo.

➟︎ there has been a fair share of moments where screams will be heard throughout the apartment and they are screams of stress.

➟︎ when finals are done, all of you will actually stay inside and have drinks with each other. someone orders takeout, geto buys the saké, and you and choso are getting the blunts together (if you smoke).

➟︎ finals week is a very stressful time in the nanami household but you guys are managing the best way you can.

But the extra bit of belly fat doesn't bother him much, because as a child, he was very thin and sickly. Winter food was difficult to find. Blizzards and below freezing temperatures were a death sentence to the unhealthy, and those terrible memories, shivering and starving under a heap of furs, have stuck with him. Under the fat, he's built up muscle; not as much as America, but a sturdy amount, and when combined with the comforts of modern life, he feels much more secure about his body than he used to. Neither of them are prone to TMI, but Canada is more open to sharing details about his life than America is, and this is for a few reasons. For one, he's a bit lonely and self-conscious. He will put anyone who appears mildly interested in him on his potential friend list. More trusting of others and more forgiving of wrongs, sometimes to to his detriment, Canada likes to chat about himself, his people, and his land, but because he lives in the shadow of his brother, he doesn't often get the chance. He's quieter, less noticeable, and on a bad day, he may think that no one is interested in whatever he has to say. Of the brothers, he's the less private one, but you wouldn't know it until you actually get him talking.

About America... I once read a comment from a non-American on a forum that said, and I'm paraphrasing, "It's easy to find an American that's friendly, but it's difficult to actually become their friend." What he meant was that Americans can be very welcoming and hospitable, but those actions are surface-level and do not indicate that they completely trust you. Fair enough. Now, YMMV, and I haven't done any peer-reviewed research to check if his statement is true, but it did stick with me, and it's become one of my headcanons for America. I think, despite his Hollywood smile and fun-loving exterior, he likes to play it close to the chest. If you aren't part of his close circle of friends (and that circle is surprisingly small), then he won't give you anything more than casual conversation, like what he ate for breakfast or who won the Super Bowl. so, i got to thinking about my life + the headcanons i have about the vk family. i have one i'd like to share with you (safe)

let me preface this by saying that i'm not physically disabled, but i have had issues with my legs for as long as i've been able to walk (so basically my entire life) which has led me to limp when i walk. more recently, i've experienced pain in my legs more frequently than i used to, and it got me thinking that i might need some type of mobility aid in the future. of course, i don't necessarily want that to happen, but if it does, i won't cry over it (probably).

anyway, that got me thinking.

a lot of people believe that manfred began to use his cane after some injury, or they believe that he just has it for vanity's sake. i personally don't see either of those making sense (though if you do, that's totally cool! i'm not the authority on any characters, especially not him).

personally, i feel as though if he had the cane as a walking stick purely to show off his wealth, he would've gone for something a bit more... ornate? it's not as though my guy's a minimalist by any stretch of the imagination; if he does something, it's big and dramatic, which is all well and good. cheers.

as for the injury headcanon, i honestly can't say i personally see it. it does make a lot of sense, but i feel like canon somewhat restricts this from being possible? since he never took vacation days besides after dl-6 (and probably rarely took days off for injury or illness. the only times i imagine he took days off were the births of his children, and legally he basically would have had to with leave and all that).

getting injured, especially the most common way i see people hc that he would've gotten injured, from an accident while riding horseback, would definitely be something that doesn't particularly fit with his characterization, imo, considering that he would most likely take as many safety precautions as humanly possible to avoid getting hurt. (in my mind, he's actually quite anxious and just a generally neurotic person and as a result tends to consistently think worst-case scenario, leading to him over-preparing for just about everything.)

so what exactly is my headcanon?

i believe his cane usage was the product of hereditary chronic pain.

in my mind, the vks all kind of have this chronic hip and leg pain that starts manifesting as young as 20 or so and really kicks in around the mid 30s to early 40s. ultimately, this pain requires the use of mobility aids or (worst-case scenario) surgeries that may not actually be effective. of course, i don't actually know much about surgeries, so i am taking a small liberty with this aspect, but nevertheless:

in manfred's case, i think the chronic pain kicks in when he's about 38, and it absolutely wrecks him for the the first six months or so. he rarely goes anywhere other than work (sometimes church, which i also have other hcs about. maybe i'll post about those one day.) and home. he spends a lot of time sitting and debating with himself on whether or not he wants surgery, ultimately to decide that he doesn't because the success rate is too low for his tastes (perfectionism) and recovery time is awful.

because he has to use the cane for the rest of his life, he experiences a lot of internalized ableism. this leads him to do many things that were unsafe for him, and generally caused more angst than anything he might've thought it "solved".

for example (and i'm aware this is a movie specific thing), after being caught for his crimes in dl-6 and after his meltdown, instead of using his cane to walk out of the courtroom, which probably would have been more comfortable and more safe, he walks without it, opting instead to carry it: "maintaining his dignity", so to speak.

of course, with this problem being genetic and passed down from generation, his biological kids (for the most part) are affected by it. since only franziska is named in the series, i'll focus primarily on how this affects her. (i debated making this section a separate post, but honestly, fuck it)

as we know, franziska basically disappears from the aa series after aa3/aai2. (capcom please let her out of the basement... that's my daughter and i miss her) this plays perfectly into my headcanon, actually. since we get no information about her whereabouts beyond a very basic "she works with interpol and stuff", i can't help but feel that explanation is incomplete.

so, that also made me think: what if she was affected a bit earlier than most? earlier in this post i mentioned that the chronic pain can manifest as young as 20 years old... which happens to be around the age she is when she all but vanishes from the narrative. basically, i think that the pain, which she inherited from her father, caught up to her.

now, there are other implications to this. after deliberating with a mutual and friend of mine, @bucket-of-hyperfixations i concluded that she would most likely want/prefer to use traditional crutches. (i did also consider that she might use a wheelchair, but then i thought about how wheelchair users are treated and thought hard about how that'd be a no-go)

this is what i ultimately landed on mostly because considering her character and the distance she wants to create from her father (using a cane would probably remind her as well as other people of him, which was a huge thing that she railed against, especially in the third game), as well as the fact that she would most likely want to maintain the freedom to use her arms so she could use her whip, which forearm crutches, another option i considered for her, wouldn't provide.

of course, there's a lot more i could add to this, but i think that this is enough for now. i personally like talking about the vk family and making up headcanons about them, considering how little information we actually get in canon. that being said, i accept criticisms of my headcanon and don't think that other interpretations of what we are presented with are inherently wrong, even if i sometimes disagree with them.

It's his way of staking a claim on you, especially in public, letting you know he thinks about you without outright telling it out loud prideful prick and a most natural one as he's probably taller than his loved one. Furthermore, while he will never tell you this, that way Lucifer can smell your hair and always makes sure to take a good whiff to calm himself without you noticing.

Mammon

Introducing our resident tsundere, Mammon at first was way too flustered to kiss you directly. Which is why angel kisses became his fave very early on (though he would probably scoff at the name). Angel kiss can be a delicate kiss pressed to your eyelids or ocassionaly brows. Knowing Mammon, he got nervous while attempting a direct kiss on the lips and smoched you on your eyelid instead, just as you blinked. If you were suprised at his behaviour, he would totally kiss your other eyelid and then try to act as if nothing happened, maybe mumbling bashfully something like "Whaat? It wouldn't be fair to not do both...". As if that was the shocking part...

Leviathan

He's the shyest one of the brothers and I imagine he wouldn't be able to stand some direct affections face to face, soon morphing into stuttering, blushy mess. Which is why his favourite place to kiss you is your nape. You can't look at him like this and he gets to breathe in the scent of your hair - positives only. I imagine Levi would pepper a lot of short pecks to nape and the juncture between your neck and arm, as he totally is too embarrased to give you longer kisses (maybe some openmouthed ones if he's feeling bold). If you are ticklish there, he's gonna be absolutely delighted and might get a cuteness overload. It became a habit to him, he just can't stop himself when he sees your nape.

Satan

His favourite place to kiss you is (your hands) knuckles. I imagine he would take your hand in his, lift it to his face and very slowly press his lips to each bump, while maintaining eye contact with you. Satan may do so at random times, as a way to show his feelings and later on he starts kissing your knuckles to quench his anger. Does it with reverance and is very focused on you. The eye contact feels as if the two of you bares your souls to each other. His romantic side makes me think he enjoys the most types of affection akin to worshipping the person he loves.

Asmodeus

I picture Asmo as somebody who, when he likes you more than just lusts after you, relishes all kinds of comforting affections without necessarily sexual undermeaning. So his favourite is a kiss on the tip of the nose. He finds it adorable and fitting to his persona, moreover it gets the cutest blushy and soft looks from you. He giggles a lot while kissing you like this and is likely to press multiple short pecks in attempt to get you to be giggly with him. Often does that when you're feeling under the weather or when he wants your attention.

Beelzebub

Due to height difference, most kisses like to the cheek, cheekbone or jawbone are uncomfortable for the two of you. Similarly, if you are using a scented shampoo, instead of kiss to the top of the head you might get your hair nommed on. Although there is one place to kiss Beel enjoys immensly - your fingerpads. He will kiss and nip at each of your fingers, and if you had something sweet in your hands recently, be prepared he will lick your fingers clean. Cue a lot of blushing from both of you as Beel notices what exactly did he do, most likely in public setting too. He's very gentle while kissing you like this, since he's half convinced you still are sometimes afraid of him accidentally nomming on your fingers.

Belphegor

He's a sleepy cuddle monster, and loves to nap with you. Usually he may just wake up for a moment, press his lips to the closest patch of skin available and fall asleep with his lips still on you. Although his fave would probably be kissing you on the corner of your mouth (so only opposite corners of your lips are touching, his lips next to yours). Probably started this while attempting to kiss you for real, still groggy from sleep, and it stuck. While he mostly does it from affection, Belphie can and will tease you with multiple kisses on both corners of your lips, deliberately avoiding your mouth just to make you needy or spite you a bit.

Pluto Headcanon Lore Dump

I felt a sudden urge to share my headcanon of Pluto’s lore. I actually have different variations of it across different AUs and sometimes they don’t even follow this but it’s pretty consistent through most of them. I’ll cover both his backstory and my thoughts about what he would be like Post-Fury if he had a redemption arc. Be warned, it’s long (I typed this at almost 2am in the morning) . I’ll fix this up for a future chapter of Metal Record eventually because there is a lot more.

(Note: Most of this will be copy and pasted from my private twitter ramble so it might be a bit unorganized)

In my canon, Pluto doesn't have the greatest childhood and even though Pluto’s parents were very loving and supportive, they died when Pluto was like 12, leaving him without much of a support system and not so great family members.  Pluto was left with the entirety of the Hades estate and that made his uncle(who helped in orchestrating his parent's death) extra angry and he tried to manipulate Pluto as a result. Pluto didn't take this well and got rid of him after he found out the truth.  At this point, all his closest family is gone. His parents and grandparents are dead and his uncle closest to the Hades plot is gone (other ones are still part of the cult but they are more so followers since they are on his mother's side). He has a lot of pressure to not only maintain the cult and lead it, but also many other things and he's only a young kid at this point. Everyone around him, including Ziggurat and Doji are seeking his guidance and he's just barely hanging by a thread.  All the people around him are vultures that want the same power he has and to not be devoured in the chaos, Pluto has no choice but to kick out many members because he just doesn't have the same competency/leadership as his father because why would he? Pluto is so young and with his father dying in an assassination unexpectedly, there wasn't enough time to teach Pluto what he needed to know in order to run the cult or that stuff. Sure he knew the family history but it wasn't much compared to his father.  Without warning, Pluto was thrown into the pit alongside losing the people closest to him. At this point, he hasn't even met Johannes yet too so he has no friends to help him recover or comprehend all this trauma.

The reason Pluto is able to find so much comfort in Johannes (at least in my canon) is because he became genuine friends with him, and Johannes joined the cult not because of Pluto's family connections or what not, but because Johannes believed in Pluto for who he was, even if it was twisted. Pluto is able to recover just slightly by having a friend who isn't initially connected to him through the cult, but just through a random encounter. While the cult thing is stressful, he still believes in it because he was raised to think this way. He may have had loving parents but at the end of the day, they were the ones that convinced Pluto he was "better than everyone else" and that destroying the world was the only correct future and path for humanity. Even if Pluto enjoys certain things, he convinces himself that this is the only way for things to go because that is what his family has been working towards for thousands of years, and that this was his destiny and goal to fulfill. This was his purpose. If he doesn't fulfill this purpose of reviving Nemesis, than what is Pluto? What is his life and who is he? Why did he go through all that suffering and for what? Nothing? He forces himself to think that these events are just better reason for him to get rid of everyone. Johannes also has a terrible childhood which also makes him side with Pluto. It's not like Pluto manipulates Johannes to join him, Johannes is just as bad as Pluto in terms of morals and works with him because he also believes this certain thing.

With how terrible they were treated and seen, deep down, both Johannes and Pluto see themselves as irredeemable monsters that cannot be forgiven ever and so, they continue to do terrible things because they don't believe they can be forgiven nor loved. The two of them are able to find comfort in each other at least, but they still hate everything else so much that they still continue with their plot because they think their lives are so plagued by misery that even if they tried to live together normally, it wouldn't work out.

Going back to the present, these issues still plague Pluto's mind and they do not get better. Now that he has apologized and his genuinely trying to be a good person, he's finally starting to see just how much damage/pain he has caused to the world. All the self-doubt and insecurities that Pluto tried to hide when he was involved in the Nemesis incident (to be fair, stuff was actually going well at a point so he was seemingly less depressed) really surface back up when he tries to be better. All his crimes/sins are starting to catch up with him. 

This is also considering that he was, for a period of time in my canon, actually trapped within Nemesis in a dark void with no one else but Rago. There was no sleeping/eating, meaning Pluto was often left to his own thoughts when he wasn't talking to Rago.  He thought he was dead forever, so a lot of that time was contemplating his life, his regrets, all the things he didn't accomplish, his failures. Not only that, but he started thinking about Johannes too. Pluto never got the chance when he transformed into Nemesis to see if Johannes was actually still okay. While he was in the void, he had no idea if Johannes was even still alive or if Pluto indirectly killed the only one close to him. If he wasn't dead, did Johannes even miss him? Was he sulking and mourning his loss or did Johannes continue his life with no concern? Did Pluto leave Johannes alone to suffer in grief or did his only friend never care for him at all in the first place?

There was no way for Pluto to know, and this caused him so much mental anguish that when (getting into FDE territory but this applies to my other AUs) he finally sees Johannes again, he rejects him because he's so afraid of confronting his fears. Pluto misses Johannes so bad, he cares for him and yet, he can't build the courage to talk to him again because all his insecurities and fears have consumed him, preventing him from pursuing what he really wants. Even when Pluto finally is able to reconcile and talk to Johannes properly, even after they exchange tears of joy and what not from finally being able to see one another again, Pluto is still afraid and scared. Pluto begins feeling terrible for involving Johannes in the Nemesis incident and starts to think that Johannes should have never met him because Pluto "ruined his life", not understanding that Johannes probably would have been terrible anyway. He starts to think that wanting to even just hang out with him as friends or what not is "selfish" and "terrible" of him because he thinks he has ruined Johannes's life and that Johannes doesn't love him back (this is not true).

Pluto is so insecure that it becomes very difficult for him to find joy in anything in life because he feels like he doesn't deserve it. Even with another chance of life, he thinks he should be suffering for his crimes instead of getting a chance to live a happy life. Even though he now has the support of the Legendary Bladers (mainly Dynamis, Tithi, and later Gingka), he can't help but feel like he doesn't deserve any of it. While he doesn't do anything evil anymore, it's very difficult for him to actually be happy. At least back then, he could find some happiness because there was a sort of ignorance that clouded Pluto's mind. He was ignorant to other people's suffering and was able to continue being terrible because he never looked nor put himself in other people's shoes. Now? He can't do that anymore because he has fully realized the consequences of his actions. He has experienced death and the horrible reality of living in an empty void that has almost no escape. He now knows what all the other people dying in the disasters felt like. 

Pluto becomes afraid of beybattling and is unable to participate in bey battles without being reminded of the one battle that actually cost him his life. Battling terrifies him and as a result, he doesn't even carry his bey with him because he doesn't want it. Even though his friends do their best to support him, he just can’t help but feel horrible.

Pluto feels like he can't even express his frustrations with other people except for Johannes (well not all of it, especially the ones related to him) because he thinks people will just scoff at him. After all, he destroyed everything so why should anyone listen to a scumbag like him or give him a chance when he obviously doesn't deserve it? He thinks his problems and issues don't matter because all of this pain and suffering is deserved after everything he's done. He is too afraid to make friends with the Legendary Bladers that gave him another chance because again, he feels like he doesn't deserve friendship nor love. He's also afraid of someone taking advantage of his weaknesses that have become more prevalent than before. People have tried to manipulate him before so how can he even know if people won't try it again?

 Pluto and Dynamis’s conflict before Fury also has some influence in Pluto’s behavior. When they first met before Fury, Dynamis made many rude assumptions about Pluto all because of him being descended from King Hades. Dynamis called him an irredeemable monster mainly because of his connection to Hades. This only furthers Pluto's mentality of "there is no reason for me to try being good because even if I did, I'd still be blamed for everything because I'm a descendant of King Hades and he was a terrible person which makes me one too by default." Dynamis and Pluto eventually make up but this thought process still affects Pluto even in the present. Pluto said some vile things too so he's not in the right, but that just further reinforces Pluto's present day insecurities since he is now more aware of what he has said/done.

There is even more I could explore with this but this ramble is almost 1.8k words so I will cut it off here. I will put more in depth information around this in both From Different Eyes and Metal Record (Especially Metal Record since I would also like to dive into Dynamis and Johannes’s backstory too). If you were not already convinced that I was insane for Pluto, I think this should do it.
