Who sleeps in the other’s lap?

I can see both. But for now I'm thinking Alec in Magnus'. Mostly because the image of Magnus winding his fingers through Alec's hair, while holding a book he is reading in the other hand, works for my brain.

Also, it's probably Alec's sneaky way to get Magnus out of his apothecary/lab, if his "mad scientist" episodes last too long and he doesn't rest properly. While Magnus is still not technically sleeping like this, it will remove him from the sciencing, give his mind a break, and sometimes even make him realize how tired he is, which will then cause him to sleep. And until then, Alec gets some nice quality time with his beau. so win-win

Alec:

Alec is the ice type gym leader, he is the 1st gym leader overall. His gym is a library and he is the main librarian. He's planned to be apart of the villain team (known as Team Idol) as their leader so under the gym is the secret base which has those annoying ass ice puzzles we all are too familiar with.. and the gym is on top of an ice mountain because your first task is going to be haul ass up that mountain #absolutely and yes he is divorced and his wife took their son as she should #yup He's the only one with a party decided with a Delibird and Snorunt and his later party as the final team boss is to be decided.

For his design I went with icy librarian man that's literally my thought process and a tattered coat to show age and tired energy

Gabby and Ellie:

Gabby and Ellie are the grass type gym leaders, the second gym leaders overall. It started off as Gabby, but I imagine she had Ellie join her seeing as Ellie is a good battler herself. I like to think they're married or at the very least promised to each other, as see by the matching rings I gave them. They are so in love really... and I like to think Ellie made their outfits for each other (I couldn't pick which Gabby design I liked better so I put both) because I still think she's a fashion designer and probably her job is working at an office or freelance design, as seen w the pencil skirt and flats I gave her. I wanted her to look cute and professional to show that looks can be deceiving because she's also apart of Team Idol and maybe Gabby might be too, depending on what happens in dcas w her and the villains alliance. Gabby is supposed to give whimsical yes, like the most whimsy grass girl ever who waters her flowers and would shoot you if you litter type of shit. I think sometimes Gabby is solo then Ellie takes over other hours or sometimes they both battle together. Gabbys job is probably the city/town gardener, probably sells herbs and healing items that aren't found in Pokémarts

Hunter:

Hunter is the ghost type gym leader, he is the 3rd gym leader overall. I like to think his gym is some kind of abandoned warehouse or some other abandoned place turned ghost rave ! Ally is the DJ and does all the electrical work while Hunter battles challengers and puts on performances with the fellow ghosts roaming around. I based his design on the fact that he should be allowed to wear whatever he wants and the neon glowsticks and bracelets are based on his team colors !! Also the pale face paint and make up bc he's a performer duh and a crinoline with tattered fabric bc he's fancy like that. Didn't wanna add too many skulls bc that's Jake's brand he was the first one move over Hunter and his job really just is performer like he performs all the time for cash and relies on Ally dj money too 😭

Riya:

Riya is the flying type gym leader, she is the fifth gym leader overall. Yes her flying type is because of her assassination attempt on Aiden no one can change me I'm a woman. And also because her with a Bombirdier fits and also an Altaria and Vespiquen, but it's still to be decided. Her design was inspired by sky trainer bodysuits and her shoes height are to reflect her incredible balance and how she's always above everyone else both physically and mentally. I liked adding armor that looks like she's a warrior because let's be real here she is here to WIN. Also gold. She's regal. Love her sm... I think she puts on air show performances and is a celebrity, movie star all over again... like she's so fabulous how can you look away ? Her gym in my head is probably a runway of sorts or movie studio, probably shoots her battling to add into her movies really and yes she's apart of the villain team, she's second in command because why wouldn't she be

Miriam:

(Queen) Miriam is a retired gym leader, she once was the fairy type gym leader, formerly the eighth and last gym leader. Jake now is in her spot and she sometimes visits the gym. She normally is at home baking and providing for the neighboring Pokémon. I like to think her ace is Alcremie cause of obvious reasons and that Jake gifted her a Fidough to keep her company when he's busy at his job and the gym. She has a more bright and "good" aesthetic than Jake, so her gym was more different than his currently is. I like to think she could be challenged later on if this was a game, like post game ! I like to think she also exposed Team Idol and either was kidnapped or just. Roams free who knows. But she's strong and a wise mentor to Jake who helped him calm down a bit so he doesn't destroy everything with his powers when losing.

Other tidbits:

- This is the Tipiskaw Region and it's like side game regions where no new Pokémon are introduced but old ones are available like from previous generations

- The order is:

1st gym: Alec (ice type)

2nd gym: Gabby and Ellie (grass type)

3rd gym: Hunter (ghost type)

4th gym: Connor (steel type)

5th gym: Riya (flying type)

6th gym: James (electric type)

- The name of the Villain team is Team Idol, consisting of Leader Alec, second in command Riya, Grett, Yul, Ellie (maybe Gabby) and Fiore and their goal is for complete domination

- Yul is the first fight due to being brash and a show off, many people believe he's the leader of the team because of this and he is a fire type speicalist (also Yul has big beef w James as they are rival idols and both have Oricorio aces)

- Fiore is a NFE specialist (not fully evolved) specialist with Pokémon that just aren't fully evolved yet, but she is still strong in her own right and she trashed Tom's cop car definitely

- Grett is the dragon type specialist and a gym leader herself who later decides to help you the player (Lake and Drew) to stop the team bc she realizes it's wrong and gives the key pass to the secret base she is STRONG

- Also yes Lake is the female MC and despite not being an all star, Drew is the male MC. Lake is the talkative protagonist Drew is the silent protagonist

- Aiden is the friendly rival with legit one Pokémon, that being Pidove and it eventually evolves into a Tranquill and just stops there. Ellie is the hating ass rival, maybe, I think so yeah

- Tom is a police officer and almost a Looker figure as he is constantly going around the region and yes him and Jake had a thing and it's going poorly like in all stars

- Tom will be kidnapped by Team Idol yes, and other shit occurs which the gym leaders (that aren't in on it) have to help save the day

He definitely listens to Taylor Swift on a daily basis - Prolly lives and breathes the 1989 era - Now as for the question of how he expresses that? He is either that really quiet one until Knox walks in on on him screaming But Daddy I love Him - He will not let him forget it

Knox is the MOST obvious TS fan amongst the poets - Loves Lover and has cried with Todd over The Manuscript and loml and YOYOK and Back to December and All too Well (10min) - Neil has not forgiven him for that one night when Todd came into their dorm, crying about how The Black Dog is Wolfstar coded (The Poets are so into ATYD and like the Marauders lore)

Knox Overstreet is drunk and cries over Chris while listening to Laufey

Being the hopeless romantic he grabs a bottle of something and puts Laufey on loop on Spotify and cries about Chris - Charlie and Cameron in the dorm have to either stuff their ears or actually go and manually shut of Spotify to stop him from crying. Knox proceeds to cry without Laufey and mumbles the lyrics to himself until he falls asleep

Todd Anderson lives for Hozier analysis - Loves The Oh Hellos and The Crane Wives

Todd Anderson is the biggest Hozier fan (DUH). He spent much of his free time sitting down and breaking apart Unreal/Unearth with his copy of the Inferno at his side. Neil and Todd go out to stargaze and they blast The Oh Hellos and The Crane Wives on shuffle and Sufjan Stevens

Meeks has destroyed everyone while playing Monopoly and Among Us

People underestimate him too much - well the joke it on them! He has made Cameron storm off and Todd huddle in a corner during Monopoly. Monopoly Monday is not exactly a thing - but when it is everyone rallies to pin him and Charlie together (who wins occasionally due to dumb luck)

He trolled everyone while playing Among Us and is the last to die.

this is a follow up and expansion into Magnus/Alec's battlelust date in portugal when the rifts open

Magnus stops his art to admire his canvas, enjoying the tilted face and closed eyes, the long lashes trustingly resting on high cheekbones that Magnus is brushing over.

“I adore you,” Magnus can’t help but whisper and his breathe fans over the glitter he hasn’t yet set, spreading magic across Alexander’s face.

“I love you too,” Alexander murmurs back. “But if you keep doing this, I’m going to ruin your hard work by kissing you.”

“I wouldn’t mind.” Magnus freely admits, perfectly fine with the passion he has for his boy, “I can start over.”

Alexander peeks his long, gloriously thick lashes open and squints suspiciously at him.

“Babe, you’ve restarted three times. I thought we were going to that flower festival somewhere?”

“You and your flowers,” Magnus teases lightly. However, he’s pleased more than actually upset, delighted at how much Alexander has opened up with and for him, how the keeps trusting pieces of himself with Magnus and then entrusting even more.

“Yes, my flowers.” Alexander says smugly and wrinkles his nose, like a bunny. “Now hurry up, I’d like to have time to watch you pick your clothes.”

It’s a charming habit that Alexander enjoys watching Magnus find them both the perfect outfit.

Magnus finishes his artwork, the petals carefully drawn out and set with shimmering lines of magic that won’t be smeared or lose their sheen.

“Now, then—” Magnus announces and uses magic to throw open their closet doors. He’s about to start when a fire message comes his way, he reads it and his smirk grows. “Change of plans, lovely! A dozen rifts have open in the south of Portugal, coordinates to come. Shall we take a detour, go to the festival tomorrow instead?”

Alexander grins, a matching expression of gleeful delight. “Sounds nice.”

“Oh—” Magnus can’t help how his expression falls, “I’ll have to do something about this.” He murmurs and reaches out, magic sparking on his fingers and Alexander captures them, kissing the magic away.

“Don’t you dare, Magnus.” Alexander says, voice low and eyes amorous, “this is a date, not a mission. Are you trying to take my flower crown away, babe? I thought you liked them on me.”

“Never,” Magnus says in delight as he magicks a small cluster of flowers over from the vanity and he snaps them both into their battle-gear. “I have a matching boutonniere, my dear.” And once it’s tucked into the pocket of his vest, he cups his boy’s face. “I was merely worried about the shine of the glitter affecting your vision.”

Instead of melting at the concern, his darling boy huffs in disbelief and his face twists into a scowling pout.

“I’ve killed demons half blinded by ichor before, Magnus.” Alexander grumbles as he summons his weapons and makes sure his boots are tight enough.

They are.

“Honestly, Magnus. Glitter is annoying and can be uncomfortable sometimes but it doesn’t literally sear you raw and take out your sight. Your priorities, babe. Sometimes they make no sense.”

Magnus stares in utter shock as he gets the last of his own outfit ready. “Alexander, did you really just try that with me? Do you not remember your own priorities? Or that time you tackled a demon off that resort balcony — while naked? On the fifth floor might I add!”

“It was trying to steal our breakfast Magnus and there were strawberries with the waffles. What was I supposed to do, let it win?”

Magnus stares at this ridiculous, hopeless man who he has so ardently dedicated himself too and been met with devoted to in turn.

“Oh, lovely how do I ever try to resist you.” Magnus says and he crosses over and pulls his boy into a passionate, hungry kiss.

“I didn’t know you tried.” Alexander murmurs, voice low and hoarse and his lips chasing Magnus’ own.  They kiss, unhindered or distracted for a few minutes before Magnus pulls himself away with a slick pop and forces himself to make a portal. 

“Your battleground awaits, my love.” Magnus says holding out his hand for Alexander to take before he steps through the portal and he exits first, using his magic to keep the portal open as he helps Alexander out, a warrior descending from his chariot.

His love is magnificent, a circlet of plum blossoms crowns his brow and the outline of a peony in full bloom across his face, the lines a soft peach that shimmer in the dying sun.

Alexander looks like a god of war, come to scatter petals for the dead and destroy whoever dared stand before him.

Magnus personally chose his clothes, a leather jacket woven with abyssal silk and studded with demon pearls, every single one imbued with a different array of protection or spell of endurance, each the red of Magnus’ battle-magic.

The only adamas Alexander has ever allowed on his battle-gear after he met Magnus, is the steel tipped toes of his boots and the tiny spikes of adamas on his soles.

Magnus wears dragonscale shoes in return, just in case they want to dance after a battle and Alexander steps on his toes, again.

A graceful warrior his shadowhunter may be, but a graceful man in the face of Magnus’ delight he is not.

Magnus’ own outfit is as dark as Alexander’s but threaded with spidersilk harvested by moonmoth fairies. They spin the webs on willow branches in the light of the moon until they shine with the same glow. It also is the same glow as Alexander’s blessed weapons and witchlight. Magnus wears a circlet of magical platinum, pure grade and harvested in the mines of the Spiral Labyrinth.

Perhaps it’s not quite as charming as his Alexander’s own crown, but the magic stored in it is what helps Magnus tames Edom’s magic and harvest what his flames devour to renew himself.

Together, they step onto the ravaged earth and look across. There are shadowhunters and warlocks working together across the plain and Magnus casually disintegrates a demon that scuttles too close.

“Oh dear,” he murmurs, and he surveys it with a friend. “I’m sorry darling, I fear I expected a bit more. Is this too boring? We can still make the festival.”

“But Magnus.” Alexander is looking at him with feral delight, his eyes huge and wondrously amorous, “it’s been so long since we’ve danced.”

Then Alexander is ducking under the sweeping but lumbering tail of a demon, gloved hand touching down, his bare fingers brushing the earth as he lashes out with his foot.

The demon explodes in a burst of ash and ichor as the spikes on Alexander’s boots and the force of his kick crush it’s orbital bones into its brain.

“You are a delight.” Magnus admits and he sends a spear of magic through a demon thinking it might sneak behind. “Well, then, a waltz to begin?” And Magnus ducks under Alexander’s arm as his love draws his bow, notching an arrow and plucking a demon from the sky.

“If we get closer to the rifts, we might get around to a tango.” Alexander, his charming boy chuckles, dark and hoarse and alite with the thrill of a brutal, deadly dance.

Alec lets himself settle into the rhythm and delight of a good battle with Magnus at his back.

There’s a simple joy in it, in the harmony of their backs pressed together, of knowing when to duck and trust or when to take the lead and protect. There’s an indescribably beauty and Alec knows the luxury he’s been gifted.

A king’s ransom that other shadowhunters would kill to experience.

Magnus changed, after Edom and Alec is certain that now, that in the entire world there is no one more powerful than Magnus.

Alec is still stunned by it, in awe of it and flustered by it.

Magnus is still Magnus, despite all his power and glory and Alec adores him all the more for it.

Like how he spends his time painting flowers in a prism of magic across Alec’s face or grows entire trees just to gather blossoms for Alec’s crowns.

Each time Magnus wreaths him in magic and flowers, Alec feels his heartbeat thud as if he’s meeting Magnus again for the first time.

It’s with a smile that he shoves his fist through a demon’s maw and rips out its jaw, hissing at the sting of ichor.

No sooner has he felt the sting than it’s soothed, the flower petals on his brow glowing softly as they imbue him with healing and Alec can’t help the small, tiny smile that it brings him.

“You can’t smile like that,” Magnus bemoans and Alec knows he’s just teasing so he smiles a little broader, hopelessly charmed by Magnus’ teasing. “Alexander, my heart. How can you tease me so in the middle of such a dance.”

“How can I not smile when I look at you?” Alec asks, “when I think of how much you love me. How amazing your magic is and how I’m covered in it. What am I supposed to do, Magnus? Pretend I’m not awed every day at how much you love and want me?”

Magnus makes a mournful sound and then his magic explodes, bursting out of him in a shockwave that disintegrates every demonic being within three-hundred yards and sends two dozen shaowhunters flat on their asses.

Magnus grabs him and dips him, kissing Alec with a fervor that ignites Alec’s battlefever and his lust. He chases the kiss, but Magnus pushes him back with a smug, laughing smirk.

“Oh, the things I’m going to do to you when we’re done.” Magnus promises and Alec lets a laugh of delight and draws another arrow, waiting for the demons to recover and ignoring the ache of his hard cock against the seam of his pants.

“I can’t wait.” He promises because it’s true.

“Commander!” Alec hears and he mutters a scathing remark that has Magnus tittering and blasting a demon with a bit too much force as he tries to stifle it.

“What?” He asks as he avoids ducking and instead stabs the approaching demon. Ichor splatters across his face and Alec can’t help it. “Fucking demons better not stain my goddamn flower crown.”

He turns to see a shocked, frightened, and clearly worn hunter.

“Commander, are you reinforcements, what should be done? I’m not sure what formation to send them out in.”

He’s asked Alec rolls his eyes because he’s honestly disappointed.

“You’re a ranked shadowhunters, you know what to do or you wouldn’t be here. Focus on your own people and let us be. I’m on a date, not here to save you.”

Alec leaves the gawping hunter to return to Magnus’ side, irritated about the absence even though it lasted mere moments.

In a battle, mere moments can decide victory. It’s with an extra vicious kick that Alec accidentally knocks the demon’s head clear off, the toes of his boot severing the spinal attachment and sending it bouncing across the field. It rolls for a moment before it explodes, as if the body had only just realized it was dead.

They fight until they’re bored, dusk turning into twilight and Alec is ravenous for a different kind of battle, a different kind of fight where he has no intention of winning and every intention of absolutely enjoying his loss.

Honestly, to be blunt: it very much, uh, depends how much tolerance for White Cishet Men Who Think They're THE Shit Talking Puck Semi Accurately you have. I'm unfortunately not kidding.

Now, to answer more fully, let's go under the cut!

First off, it's important to keep in mind that everything is, to some extent, random. You can draft Connor McDavo with your first overall pick and he can become Collarbone McBroken for half the season. That's part of the fun, unexpected stuff happening. Fantasy hockey can be intimidating and overwhelming sometimes, but if you ask around, I (and possibly others) am totally willing to listen to your thoughts and help point you on the right track.

Secondly, though, there is a lot you can control. You don't draft Brendan Smith expecting him to put up McDavid-like numbers. That doesn't make sense. If a fourth-liner just scored a hat trick, it doesn't mean he'll do that every game.

Some people say that a good draft is key to winning a fantasy hockey league, or even doing well. This is only partially true. You can win with an autodraft team, but it's much more of an uphill climb.

That's why my first big tip is to try mock drafts. Do several, on Yahoo and ESPN and wherever you want. Learn who's available at generally what rounds. This can help you identify possible steals in the draft. Additionally, be very aware of the rules of your league. Is it points or categories? Are the points "standard" or are some stats more heavily weighed? As an anecdote, one of my leagues has a strange point distribution that gives massive weight to penalty minutes. This lends itself heavily to the playstyles of, for instance, the Tkachuks, Tom Wilson, and Evander Kane.

My second big tip is to watch hockey news. Familiarize yourself with players slated for a breakout year or players that are good at certain stats (Alec Martinez, Blocks Georg, comes to mind here). Especially get cozy with teams you and your group of opponents don't follow much. Another anecdote, my friends are mostly Devils and Pens fans. This allows me to capitalize on (somewhat) under-the-radar players like Sam Reinhart on the Panthers, Drew Doughty on the Kings, and Sean Durzi on the Coyotes.

My third big tip, depending on your league, is learning to stream. Not hockey games, but players. Generally, there are fewer hockey games on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. This means that usually, your lineup will have spots open those days, and will be full Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, with mostly-full Sundays. If you drop and add players strategically, you can get five, six, or even seven "man-games" out of a single slot, increasing the amount of points you can earn. DataDrivenHockey on Instagram runs awesome fantasy help data sheets, along with streaming advice to maximize man-games.

As for resources... Yahoo and ESPN for mock drafts. Do your mock drafts. I cannot underscore how important this is. ESPN publishes good articles as well, about player stocks weekly and more general ones in the preseason. Yahoo seems to too. Here's a good "fantasy hockey 101" article I just pulled up from Yahoo, actually. (Be aware that some of the things it mentions, like separating forwards into C, LW, and RW, as well as salary cap drafts, generally don't exist in ESPN leagues.) DDH, as mentioned, for streaming stuff; posts there go up usually every Friday. There are also sites like DobberHockey and RotoWire that are good for fantasy hockey stuff, but I don't personally use them, so I can't vouch for their effectiveness. Places like the Athletic do draft cheat sheets. Once you get into the season, you're mostly adding and dropping based on average points per game anyway, especially over the last 15 (sometimes 7 or 30) days.

And then, if you're beginning to get hyperfixated, you can start looking for your low-view-count YouTube videos.

But honestly, it's probably better if you just drop a line with a friend to ask at that point. Or me. I'm totally down to talk fantasy hockey and give my tips and advice!!!

Okay so life had been pretty hectic lately but I've finally been given a break-that lasts until tomorrow but still a break. So I got around reading Joan's and Cami's chapter and what do you know, I absolutely loved them! And Cami, she is in fact a bitch but it suits her so we love her. I love Disventure Camp and how it creates unpredictable plot twists! I have NO idea who will be eliminated in next episodes. I just want all this drama.

Grett - Jake - Connor

The modest antagonist VS The hero VS The cool guy

I also think about Alec as a finalist, but I suppose that he will be the 4th. Again. The curse of number 4, huh? Or maybe my perky intuition? Who knows.

GRETT

After episodes 13 and 14 I do want Grett to win! This girl deserves EVERYTHING. 🤩

Her parents don't notice her success preferring her brother to her. Grett also mentioned in S1 that the winning is the only thing that will make her parents proud of her. I suggest she may have overcome this in between seasons, but... let be honest, the childhood traumas are forever with people unless they will be overcome.

Grett had very toxic relationships (= total mess) with Yul (and we still hate him for this so much). No one deserves this type of partner. The breaking-up and the relief surely inspire her to be more competent and sassy like she was in S1 (and episode 15 trailer proves it). I also suggest she had some bad love experience in past too, she lacks of experience in romantic things.

Grett's makeover in-between season is ICONIC. I was so surprised when I saw her personal poster. I understand her so much (I did the same at 17-19): loss of weight is not so simple as it seems to be. She will be okay, more than okay, she is gorgeous.

Grett is the least obsessed antagonist of the final 8. She prefers to become friends with Gabby, save her own psycho and soul after all this mess with Yul, pass all the time actively as much as possible. She just does her job - being a rather strong and competitive.

JAKE

Me watching the first 10 episodes: What the hell are you doing?! Me watching the next episodes: YES, GO, JAKE, GO!

Yes, Jake has the most chaotic character development in the series. Sometimes he acts like a mess, a walking cringe or a biggest red flag. But I do like how he is changing. He struggles with himself and, thanks god, he is not an evil person. He is just very confused and traumatized person.

Jake already lost in S1 because of his behaviour. Now, when he begins to use his brain and to communicate with really cool and caring people (who give him very useful advice and inspire him so much), he has more chances to become the finalist. Miriam (this woman is so pure, I love her so much), Ashley (the oldest caring sister energy, she is brilliant), Aiden (he is more than iconic, that's all I want to say) - their influence on him is evident. I also suggest he could spread his money with friends and lover.

The last conversation between Jake and Tom definitely motivates him to win. No matter if he wins or not, he gets the desirable. I don't know how it will happen, I'm just sure! Minus one love drama, plus one finally happy couple.

It will be very curious to see how Jake overcome the obstacles himself. He is more team player, not loner wolf. But in the final and the episodes before it he should be ready to show all his talents and bravery. With his positive character development I can say he will do it.

CONNOR

From the ordinary character in S2 to one of the best one! No more words. He is flourishing in All-Stars! And I root for him!

Being one of the most sane person of the bunch of problem young adults - this is the true image of Connor. He doesn't understands the modern people and the modern culture, but he tries to. He is very supportive and kind to everyone (his speech to heroes alliance was very helpful and inspiring; he doesn't want to revenge or do something bad with Riya or Alec after all that crazy stuff, etc.). After revealing his secret to Jake in episode 14, it doesn't make him bad. Everyone has their own secrets and everyone makes mistakes. And Connor can take an effort in further episodes.

Earlier Connor inspires his friends. And now he will be inspired by them. It's more than real.

Quick reminder. This guy was eliminated and returned back after overcoming all the obstacles of the challenge. Does Connor give up easily? Of course, no. He is as disciplined and motivated as relaxed and chill. And in case of winning he will be the first person who takes the prize as being eliminated earlier. Just like Surfers in Ridonculous Race.

Connor is the least obsessed of winning money. And it may help him to win. In case of winning he seems to share some money with his friends (or everyone!). I don't think that money is important for him. And it's really cool. What a gorgeous man.

This is an absolutely HUGE question, though, so I am going to adapt it into a meme that goes around sometimes and just do ten favorite characters from ten different media properties I love, because otherwise I am going to sit here all day frozen with indecision wondering if I'm forgetting someone, or if each character is REALLY worthy of being top ten out of all the media I've consumed in my life.

Murderbot (The Murderbot Diaries by Martha Wells): One of my favorite book series! And I love Murderbot so deeply for so many reasons. It's funny! It's being adopted into everyone's found family and doing so kicking and screaming! It cares deeply about people once it allows itself too! Runner-up in this property is ART, who I love dearly, but really, it couldn't be anyone else but Murderbot itself.

Keladry of Mindelan (The Tortall series by Tamora Pierce): Kel is so stubborn and kind and very subtly funny in a lot of ways, and she's my favorite of the Pierce heroines. She jousts! She adopts everyone and every beast that crosses her path! She gets up to shenanigans with her friends! Just a joy of a character.

Johnny Jaqobis (Killjoys (TV)): I love everyone in this wildly underrated show, but Johnny especially. I've got a weakness for the quippy best-friend-of-the-badass/support character type (see also: Foggy Nelson from Daredevil), and Johnny is such a perfect one. He's funny, he's badass, he pretends to be married to two separate people in the course of the show. What's not to love?

Maia Drazhar (The Goblin Emperor by Katherine Addison): This book is so good, and Maia is such a good central character of it. He's so kind, so determined to be good in a position that makes it hard to be good or kind, to build connections when he's been denied them his whole life and change things nobody thinks it's possible to change. I love him!

Xena (Xena Warrior Princess): With my love for quippy best friends, you might think Gabrielle would be my favorite, but no, Xena is a competent badass searching for (and, as she goes along, finding) redemption, which is another favorite character type. She's also a badass warrior who's not at all afraid or self-conscious of being emotional and expressing affection, which is a rare and wonderful thing.

Leia Organa (Star Wars): The original trilogy trio are all close to my heart, but Leia just edges the other two out. I've just always loved her banter, how she refuses to be cowed by any situation, and her super cool hairstyles. Very much a I-want-to-be-like-her-when-I-grow-up character since childhood.

Harriet Morton (A Company of Swans by Eva Ibbotson): One of my formative romantic books. Harriet's not too different from Maia, actually, only Maia before becoming emperor and thus not having much power to effect change! She's kind and brave about loving and quietly stubborn, and she's very much in the same type as

Fanny Price (Mansfield Park by Jane Austen): Mansfield Park is nobody's favorite Austen, and Fanny is nobody's favorite Austen heroine, and yet! (I do technically love Persuasion, and probably Anne, more, but I'm not nearly as defensive of either of them, so Fanny's the one I thought of first for this list). She's very much that same character type as Harriet, and I seem to love characters who are clinging to goodness when they don't have much else to cling to.

Alec Hardison (Leverage (TV)): He's so smart and so full of fun quips! And also hot, look, I can be allowed to be a little shallow here. Anyway, I love all the characters in this show, but Hardison absolutely wins out.

Danielle de Barbarac (Ever After): This movie is full of great characters, but I adore Danielle. Determined, good-hearted, willing to carry a prince out of a forest, reader of dense tomes, what's not to love?
