i've been on a bit of a dc brainrot for a while, but i also have the non-binary urge to make everything about the marauders, so here i'll be leaving my marauders x dc headcanons

regulus is batman. no, i won't hear anything about it. he didn't lose his parents tho, he lost his brother (sirius' alive, he just doesn't know it yet, lazarus pit, yada yada yada), he grew up with his buttler (not sure if it would be kreacher?) and ends up becoming the dark knight (rich, moved by vengeance, out for blood, but no killing)

james is superman, and i doubt anyone can argue with this one. (look at that man's big brown doe eyes and tell he wouldn't be the biggest superman fan). he was raised by effie and monty, but is the same old kryptonian we know. he rescues kittens on threes, shoots lasers from his eyes and is a big old softie

lily is lois lane. this woman has pulitzers and can change an entire country's point of view about something with 1 (one) column on the planet. she could be the president. she's beautiful. she's smart.

(also, this could be both a clois or superbat situation, doesn't really matter)

remus is jimmy olsen! tired alien bestie, likes to take pictures, wonders how no one else caught on that james is superman because that man can't lie to save his life??? he doesn't even look that different without his glasses??????

back to gotham, narcissa would be batwoman (reg's cousin, full of rage, wearing a bat mask to punch people on the streets? besides, BUFF NARCISSA? yes, please), dating her lovely future wife detective fortescue (alice is montoya, yes), i think she would still be married as narcissa for a while (she Will dump lucius' ass) and go out with alice as batwoman

on the other hand, bellatrix is absolutely harley, i don't think there's even another option? and yes, tom riddle is the joker (ironic for someone called riddle, i know), but who cares about him, honestly?

anyway, rita skeeter is poison ivy!

barty is catwoman, this man steals from the rich people, pisses off his father (crouch sr. would be gordon in this), and gets to flirt with big scary batman (he finds regulus so hot it's a bit pathetic)

pandora is babs, batgirl and future oracle, and i don't know if evan would be the first robin? the timeline in my head couldn't find a kid to be the first robin besides like, nymphadora, but i think circus evan and pandora who lost their parents, and one joined batman while the other became a cop is sort of nice?

on the robin situation, draco is jason todd (it gets progressively more angst the more you think about it), future red hood, and harry would be conner (yes, i know, 'why isn't harry jon?' because i don't want him to be :])

luna would be tim drake. she would one hundred percent manipulate regulus into letting her become robin after the previous robin's death, and she has what it takes to be both a genius and the next ceo of reggie's company. she's just that good.

and last but not least, my favorite ladies:

marlene mckinnon as supergirl, and dorcas meadowes as lena luthor. they hate each other. they find each other hot af. they pin after each other. why aren't they together yet???????

Gonna do something stupid and bring over a thread from my twitter because I'm maybe possibly still brainrotting over it just a little??

I was thinking about this scene from episodes 45-46 of Shippuden and I honestly love it so much, especially in hindsight, after having watched the Kakashi ANBU fillers (yes, I watch the fillers, leave me alone). So, I'm gonna nerd out and way overanalyze this for a hot second, don't mind me.

(In actuality, this ended up being half Yamato character analysis/appreciation and half actual scene analysis, and I may have lost some coherency towards the end because I was high af while writing most of this lol whoops. Enjoy? Please don't hurt me? 🙏)

When you watch this scene for the first time, you'll likely be viewing this more from Naruto's "persepctive", so to speak. You'll probably empathize with him more personally, as he's the protagonist you've been following since the beginning. You understand why he does the things he does, why he feels the way he feels.

Being so desperate to save his friend but not confident enough in his own strength that he succumbs to powers of blind rage and accidentally hurts himself and others around him in the process... It may not be a relatable struggle for everyone, but it's a sympathetic one.

And thus, you would agree with Yamato's words to Naruto in this scene; he is strong on his own, and should rely on his own power to save Sasuke.

Naruto feels the same as well. Despite being initially horrified by the revelation that he had hurt Sakura and caused so much devastation again, he genuinely wants to become stronger by his own accord and protect those that he cares about. Yamato's words resonate deeply with him.

On a second watch through, however, what I really loved about this scene is what is says about Yamato as a character.

In the Kakashi ANBU filler arc, he first realizes through trying to save Yukimi that he can protect the people he cares about in his own way.

Then he's ordered by Danzo to steal Kakashi's sharingan. He sees Kakashi at Rin's grave and sees him as the cold-hearted "friend-killer". So he tries to go through with it.

"The mission is absolute." Kakashi asks what kind of mission would ask someone to kill their friend. He asks why, then, Kakashi killed Rin, unless it was also his mission to do so. But Kakashi retorts, he hadn't wanted to kill her. She died because he couldn't protect her.

Kakashi captures him, having every intention to take him back to the leaf, when they're suddenly attacked by one of Orochimaru's experiments. Kakashi risks his own life to save him despite the fact that Yamato had just tried to kill him.

He could have just left him to die—either of them could have left the other to die at any point, but neither did. Yamato's conviction wavers. It was his mission to take Kakashi's eye, but he ultimately finds he can't bring himself to do it. So he abandons it, and for the first time, even in the face of the consequences, he questions everything; the missions, the purpose of Root, his identity, and his own will.

He realizes, then—for the second time—that he is free to think for himself and make his own choices, and that he can protect people.

But Kakashi realizes that Yamato would be punished for what he did, and urges the third hokage to help him, and they're able to pull him out of Root, much to Danzo's displeasure.

4. How do you choose which fics to write?

I'm pretty sure they choose me. The brainrot is fucking real. I've tried just cherrypicking writing a little bit of different fics, but what inevitably happens is I will get massive inspiration for one fic and just slam through it in one go. I have so many ideas and one day I'll look at my list and be like "I'm feeling that one today" and it'll happen. I haven't done that in awhile though because the LitMoR brainrot WRECKED me. I'm desperate to tell this story lest I lose momentum or something.

5. How many wips do you have?  What fandoms/pairings are they for?

I believe the last count of like... fics I have actually started??? Is at least a hundred. And then more in my ideas document. Most of them are for CR with a scattering of characters/ships (most are Tombtakers-related), but there's some Inuyasha/Yashahime, some MCU, some Bleach, and a few other fandoms in there.

10. Do you work on multiple wips or stick to one fic at a time?

I used to get bursts of inspiration for different fics and just pick and choose, but now it's more "hyperfixate on this one thing forever."

24. How do you choose whose POV to write in?

OH FUN. It's usually about who is going to get the most internal monologue out of the scene/story, since I do a lot of naval gazing, but I also tend to use POV to conceal things from the audience like how Lucien doesn't get a POV scene in OUADYA so we never fully know what's going on with him and Molly's POV is fully biased against him so until late in the game you don't realize he's in a really fucked up situation.

72. What’s your favorite writing compliment you’ve gotten?

Any compliment about my character voices always gets me, because that's my primary marketable skill. I work my ASS off to meticulously copy vocal patterns in my writing.

Also any time someone quotes one of my lines back at me and says it got them makes me lie on the floor.

78. What motivates you during the writing process?

I HATE SAYING ENGAGEMENT, but it's definitely engagement. I love getting reactions to plot reveals, twists, developments, etc. I'm always like BOY I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE IF THIS PART MAKES PEOPLE EXCITED, etc.

79. Do you have any writing advice you want to share?

There is not a writer out there who did not crib vibes from their favorite things and work them into their original stories and some of them are really obvious about it and we love them anyway. Therefore, do not ignore the urge to borrow vibes or take inspiration from whatever you like, even if you think people will clock you, because your writing will be richer for it.

Obviously don't steal ideas wholecloth, but you know what I mean.

I'm still obsessed with what the boys were like in school - specifically joe and vito as well as leo and frank - but I wouldn't put it past me to think about the others eventually. hell how was luca in school, I'm not sure what eddie would've been like but that's because the headcanons of him wandering the streets boxing his heart out is funner/cuter to me.

I think both vito and joe were awful in school, like respectfully <3 they were both doing numerous petty crimes to pay attention to any school work. though out of the two I feel like vito was the only one to do something at least, maybe that's why he makes the 'I didn't even know joe could write' comment because he did just under the bare minimum and joe did close to absolutely nothing. this just gets me more enraged because we know nothing about joe's parents - did they catch on to him being awful in school or did they never care? wrt the conversations on here I like to think they did care about him. joe was probably difficult to persuade back then, he still is now. stubborn, he's a stubborn bitch.

leo and frank, instantly I feel like leo was the one who did the most work out of the duo. personal hc's: leo was the quiet kid back in his school years, very much stand-offish and closed off, so he probably didn't mind chilling there writing n'shit. I wouldn't say he enjoyed it, but compared to frank, who would've been - like joe - dealing in petty crime and dodging the cops and other local gangs, probably didn't care that much for his education. this actually kinda works, in the sense of frank is the guy who supplies the muscle for the family, leo is the guy who provides the brains.

god what the hell were leo's parents like? with the way he acts I like to think they were probably stern, strict and let nothing slide. maybe one was worse than the other and the other one taught leo who to place his trust in or leo picked up on it himself. I don't think his parents were inherently bad but with the way he acts - it was either them or I can add another traumatised man to the list. leo loves a few people in game and yet again, discussions on here- leo just doesn't throw his praise and trust about. and I wonder if he ever struggled with it, leo is smart but he seems almost kinda, innocent with his trust, in a very specific way. with how he loves frank so much and vito and pepe, all men who are such wet rags honestly. I feel like these people are the only ones he has properly placed his trust in ever and they're all - not bad choices, but quite tragic, rather unfortunate. frank started looking in the opposite direction as he got older and got addicted to being people's father figure, leo couldn't have known any better though. vito being a soaked gay tragedy making mistakes and being too in love with his friends to let them go, not having the guts to leave them despite not necessarily loving the life and because of this leo has to come in and fix the mistakes he was a part of. I don't think leo placing his trust in pepe was a bad thing - but from a man like leo, one of the scariest men in empire bay once upon a time. I gotta wonder what made that drunken idiot so admirable, a part from protecting him in prison. like frank already kept pepe working for leo - but there was nothing stopping leo from dumping him off somewhere and telling him to fuck off as soon as they got out of the can. maybe leo thought he could help him, which honestly yeah. with how leo wanted to help vito - I can see him wanting to help pepe out and do something to better him.

'or can I add another traumatised man to the list' - honestly, I keep always viewing leo as a untouchable badass, for the most part - but there was most certainly times he must've gotten his ass kicked, especially back in school when he would've weighed about as much as his school bag. this is why I want backstories for so many characters, what the fuck have they gone through? show me one of the most badass characters in the series to me completely broken on the ground in the rain thank you.

but for real for all characters like leo, the strong ones. I need backstory where they have been hurt, where they have cried, the moment where they have realised they're in for the shit. gimme that scene they realise they can't rest and there is no moment where they shouldn't look over their shoulder because they can't risk it. I imagine all of them started off kinda like vito- they were in for the life because they were excited for it, then they got older and witnessed the worst of it all. but they were smart enough to understand how to become accustomed to it, unlike vito. like seriously what did carlo go through when he was younger... what sort of shit did tony balls get himself into when he was little?!?! who the fuck got their face torn a part by a rancid, rabid teenage luca.
