tragic to me that “rarity” & “pristine” aren’t more common as virtue-type names.

they don’t even have listings on nameberry, only a couple forum posts where they’re shut down & told they would work better as middle names.

in 2021 there were just 7 girls named pristine & 10 named rarity. source. they’d have only a 1-2% chance of ever encountering someone else with that name in their lifetimes. rare indeed!

Gwyin's theme, Ornstein and Smough, Seath...How can they not be here in the finals? Sif's theme is one of the best ones so I get it but how could Artorias beat Kalameet? His theme is kind of standard if confronted to the other ones. It's not bad, don't take me wrong, but if you want a sad ost, plin plan plon is way better from a musical point of view in my opinion. Artorias is a legend but his theme sadly is not :(

Elvis and Priscilla didn’t see each other again for 2 years after meeting in Germany. Elvis got back together with his girlfriend Anita Wood when he returned to the U.S. Priscilla had high school boyfriends like Ron Tapp when she was separated from Elvis in Germany. She moved to Graceland in March 1963 and turned 18 in May. Her parents and Colonel Parker forced their wedding. Ann Margret was the love of Elvis’s life and he wanted to marry her instead. Priscilla stole $900,000 from Lisa Marie yearly and recently tried to contest her will and filed a lawsuit against her granddaughter Riley over it.

Priscilla having corrupt morals does not absolve Elvis from "making friends" with a 14 year old girl when he was 24 and it sure as hell doesn't absolve him of promising to marry her so her parents would approve of their relationship please be fucking for real

To be honest, I wasn’t going to. I haven’t seen the commentary for this film, but I have seen the commentary surrounding Elvis (in general). If you’re concerned about the accusations of him being a groomer, all I can say is… I get it. If you’re an Elvis fan, I’m sorry. If you aren’t, you’re entitled to your opinion nevertheless.

I won’t defend someone that I never met. That being said, the times were different for sure. Men weren’t being held accountable for their actions. Even today, they aren’t really… I haven’t read Priscilla’s autobiography (on which the film is based), so I don’t know how exactly she conceptualized her relationship with Elvis. My understanding of it is that her parents pressured Elvis into marrying her, and that he really wanted to marry Ann-Margret instead. If this is true, then her parents are perhaps as much to blame as Elvis for the relationship.

I hope that assuages your concern, somewhat. There are so many different stories about them. I think when it comes to an icon such as Elvis, the truth gets submerged somewhere underneath all the myth (basically the plot of Elvis 2022). I am curious about this film, now.

It would be interesting to see this dynamic played out more with Pacifica’s parents. Sure they are awful and controlling. But they do care about Pacifica’s wellbeing. Only that their values are also terrible.

But controlling and protective aren’t clashing characterizations. Could be fun to see protective at play with Pacifica’s interactions with Priscilla.
