so I ended up watching the first two episodes of Percy Jackson with my mom because I was gonna use her Disney + account to watch it and she was like "oh I might want to watch that" which wasn't the response I was expecting but ok

anyway, I haven't read the books since literally middle school so my memory on all the little details won't be great, but so far I like it and it seems like basically what I remember from the books. my mom who also knows nothing about the books and also Greek mythology also seems to like it

Trafalgar Law and his rare friendships (Law and closeness series part 4)

Let's venture into less explored territory. And we will start with no one else but our beloved Kinemon!

They met at Punk Hazard, Kinemon doing some rampage and Law was sent by Caesar to stop him. At first he cut him up into three pieces apparently, but I think Kin is colorizing here a lot.

Because let's take a look at his awesome feats. He might be cut into pieces, but he's still a decent threat despite that! I think Law started by cutting Kinemon in half, then got surprised he still tried to fight him, and then he cut off his head as well only to realize that even the head alone is probably bouncing around as well! So he caught it, but in the meantime the legs already run somewhere else and the torso escaped Law on his way back to lab somehow which is where Brook finds it later. And Law was probably like "screw it, I don't have time for this" and left it be for now. But I bet it wasn't "letting his torso to rot, and feed legs to wild beasts" like Kinemon claims. After all his legs turned out to be just fine lol. And we know by now that Kin's legs just run off on their own aimlessly, so this is probably what actually happened.

And this is how Strawhats find Kin. I guess Kinemon was still causing a lot of trouble despite being only a head. Maybe he tried to bite Law? Anyway, he must have been really *mad* to cut him up into that many tiny pieces. I think Kinemon was behaving like a little shit. It's important to mention Law never did that to anyone else before.

And he attempts to do the same to Tashigi who is also trying to bounce around while being cut in half.

Yeah, Kinemon and Law started off on a great note there. But I think Kin earned Law's respect for that, because this is probably what Kin shouted at him while being cut into smaller and smaller pieces:

And Law shoved his head into some closed off room, instead of giving it to Caesar. I think he was trying to spare him and hoping he can restore him back later on.

As soon as they both end up on Strawhats ship, Kinemon already treats Law with respect! It's no longer "that warlord" but "Law-dono".

It seems that despite what Kinemon says, Law actually earned his respect back there already. He even tried to catch his name or the title to know who he is.

It's so sweet he's already asking Law to give him a ride to Zou and before he can get an answer Luffy butts-in haha.

He's always listening carefully to Law's plan in Dressrosa and keeps closely with his assigned group. And yes, it's implied that Law was the one who strategically seperated the groups.

Kin is the first one to raise a concern to stick to the plan and not waste any time. He understands the stakes but won't venture off on his own, instead making sure the whole group knows what to do. That's because they left before Law finished going over the plan again. Kinemon took it on himself to make sure "they got the memo", so to speak.

Kin's also the one who seems most worried about Law, probably because when he almost rescued him he realized in what kind of terrible state he was. "Answer me!!" there is a lot of concern there he didn't show for any of the Strawhats yet, but he did for Law.

His idea to distract and cause some chaos by disguising himself was also something Law would approve of.

On Barto's ship Kin is already taking care of the dangers ahead of others, because he's aware his friends are still recoving from their injuries.

Kinemon never forgets that Strawhats and Law are in alliance and are two seperate crews. He asks Law specifically for help as well, clearly surprising him with that request. Kin's amazement seems to be very genuine and he is very polite in how he asks for help.

And then alliance happens, they bump fists together I bet Law must have braced himself for it and Luffy declares "Being in alliance means we're friends!". This is the moment Luffy defines what Kinemon and Law's relationship is supposed to be from now on: friendship. And of course Law is annoyed about that, it should be up to him to decide stuff like that! Luffy doesn't care though, pushing Law's boundaries further for him.

Law already takes on his role in the alliance, assuring Kin they will be safe in his submarine and no one will be able to suddenly attack them on his watch. Now this is a turn of 180 degrees, Law takes them as his own personal responsibility from now on, gives emotional reassurance and basically saying "count on me" but with different words. He already succumbed to the fate Luffy bestowed upon him.

And take a look at this. There is team Luffy, team Nekomamushi, Team Inuarashi and Team Kinemon. Do you know what that means? Yes, Law handed the leadership over the group to Kinemon! Meanwhile himself taking the role of a support and protection. And this trend will continue all the way in Wano as well.

Apparently he visited Kinemon at the castle ruins every single day. Most likely worried about his health condition.

Law apologized immediately to Kinemon the moment the other asks what's going on. Even takes the blame for himself, but also takes extra time to reassure Kin that his part of the plan is unaffected and no one knows about the samurais. I think it's implied again that it was Law who seperated the tasks in each group meanwhile taking a supervisor role himself. He told Kinemon to find Akazaya samurais and they had a whole operation going on in the background with gathering supplies of weapons and food, bit by bit, while officially putting the blame on some third party. Knowing Kinemon he wouldn't be smart enough to think of it this way, so Law at the very least helped him organize stuff. Besides we don't see Kinemon running around and making sure everything works out: that's Law actually, checking up with all the groups and resolving any potential crisis situations (like when he warned Sanji of trouble and took it on himself to lead the whole group to safety). Besides we have Sanji's words for proof when Law apologized to Kinemon: "What kind of shoddy operation are you running, Law?!" which is pretty direct in pointing out who the actual mastermind is behind the Wano's battle.

Seeing how Kin also wasn't the smartest at reading the coded picture message about the raid, I think it was originally Law's idea as well that the message should be some sort of code only people involved would understand. The raid picture also mentions meeting up at a port specifically, and that seems to be a reoccuring point plan in every of Law's plans ever since Rocky PORT Incident. Even in Dressrosa and Punk Hazard the chosen meeting points for all seperated groups were told to be specific ports.

When it turns out there was a traitor in the midst of their core team, it's Law who seems to have taken it on himself to dig up information from Hawkins. Interestingly enough every last samurai arrives for the raid despite that every single bridge in the country had been destroyed. I have no evidence but I think it's likely Law helped all those people travel to the "true" meeting spot. After all we didn't see him for days before the raid, and while many fans believed Law turned into a snitch, the raid itself denies it: Law was from the very beginning to the very end on the alliance's side. But then why didn't he take credit for what he did to make the raid a success? Well, he didn't take any credit at all before either, giving it all to Kinemon, so why would he start to take it for himself suddenly?

Here Law rescues the samurais, scolding them for underestimating the sea. Doesn't it look similar to you? Law is rising them up just like Oden did on his execution day. This symbolically proves Law is the actual person carrying the whole battle operation on his back. Just like his full name, Trafalgar Waterloo, should have hinted us all along. His reactions to all the others discussing what's happening are also very telling - Law's the only one not surprised that samurais aren't there yet, that there is a traitor, not even surprised that Kid is there. But he is taken aback about news of Big Mom and Jinbei, because that's some wild cards he didn't know anything about before.

Even though Law protests his submarine isn't samurais garrison, it's pretty clear who samurais themselves think runs their plan in reality. And worthy to notice here: Law no longer calls Kinemon by his full name. It's "Kin" from now on. And how many people did we ever see Law using such an affectionate name for before? With him you're either "something-ya" or a full name basis. Kin is literally the only exception. You can't see it as anything else but affectionate. Throughout Wano they became really close friends.

And of course Law saves Kinemon's skin by coming up with a backup plan on the fly and even decides he will carry the samurais to the back entrance of the island on his submarine. He also allows Kinemon to take the full credit, not really expecting any gratitude. He just sits there in the background, letting others take the spotlight.

And this is a good moment to remind us of what Sengoku told Law about love. It should be unconditional, which means you don't expect anything in return for your help. Law usually operates on "favour for a favour" basis or impersonal alliance level. But in this "alliance" he doesn't even want the credit, doesn't expect anything in return, and breaks his own rule of not calling people in affectionate ways. And does he even get anything for himself from this alliance besides the rise in his own bounty?

Imo there's only one possible conclusion here: Law accepted the condition of the alliance Luffy set up all the way back in Zou, it's supposed to be a friendship. Law indeed fullfilled that condition, he truly became friends with Kin. Of course he still wouldn't admit openly that they're friends, but like always with Law, we need to actually look at his actions and subtext. This friendship wouldn't have happened if friendship with Luffy didn't happen first! After the raid Law doesn't stay at the shogun's palace and instead stays with the ships at the port, but I bet you anything Kinemon ran to him at least once to tell him how grateful he was for his help.

So that's one confirmed friendship of Law we see in the series (besides the one he has with Luffy, but I elaborated on that one all the way back in part 2). The other friendships we can see in the series is that with Bepo, Penguin and Shachi, and Wolf in Law's novel. We know that Law created Hearts Pirates together with them, he doesn't consider Hearts to be his own creation, it's theirs as much as it's Law's. That friendship started off on a sour ground, Penguin and Shachi were bullying Bepo and Law saved him. But they quickly became friends and Law's strength and attitude earned their deepest respect. Penguin and Shachi sometimes allow themselves very cheeky comments ("Captain! You're so sexy now!"), they're also slightly older than him, but despite that they have really big respect for Law and always listen to him, despite sometimes complaining ("Captain got carried away" or "stop him Bepo!!"). They know each other well and as teens they spent a lot of late nights just talking together. They would sacrifice their lives for Law and Law would do the same for them, but he's also not beyond sending them to safety instead and taking all the risk on himself. They often shower Law in compliments, almost like they know he has low self-esteem, but then they know him for 13 years already, of course they would be best friends at this point and know that stuff about him (about his touching trauma probably as well).

Bepo is the only one privileaged with any physical affection, he is Law's safe haven, the last one he allowed himself to keep. The main Hearts also know of Law's past and his full name, as well as the fact he is a D. Of course they also started doing those silly power rangers-like poses when Law introduces his crew and I bet you anything it's a nod to Sora Warrior of the Sea. They're all fanboying the comics together. Law is probably slightly more affectionate with his Hearts than anyone else (which in this case means he allows himself to be a bit more open, but he still keeps some distance from them), but we can see he still acts like a leader for them, trying his best to earn the respect he received. But we also see him worrying about Bepo a lot in Wano when the mink ate a poisoned fish. He almost threw his own raid plan out of the window just because Bepo asked to not leave him alone; clearly they are his firstmost priority. Too bad we don't have that many of their interactions to analyze.

And then we have his friendship with the old man Wolf, inventor from North Blue, who took Law in (spoilers ahead for Law's novel!). At first their relations are mostly "favour for a favour" kind, something that Law knows well because he tends to operate on same basis. So, Law is allowed to stay at Wolf's place if he finds a job and helps with chores and testing the inventions. They take turns preparing the meals. Everything changes when Wolf has an unfortunate accident and Law saves his life. Wolf then asks for a friendship and Law thinks to himself that he can't really refuse a request from someone who doesn't usually do "friendships", he feels honoured with that trust. Wolf still acts as their mentor but it feels more like they became a family. Law is very grateful to Wolf for standing in defense of Penguin and Shachi. Wolf is also the one who teaches young Law how to be a captain and puts it into his head that he needs to take responsibility at all times. In general Wolf acts rather cold and rough, but always shows a kind heart when any of them needs it, and I bet Law took on his habits because that feels a lot like how Law himself acts on many occassions.

Wolf definitely became some sort of a rolemodel for him, but there were also few occassions when Law allowed himself to say some really spoiled and cheeky things to him (like: you do the dishes from now on). Law also helps Wolf make a tough decision: to resign from taking responsibility for his son's actions and not to kill him with his own hands, he literally stops his effort by saying "Family shouldn't kill each other". At the end Wolf gives them a partying gift: a yellow submarine, and encourages Law to go out to seas to look for freedom and experience life as he wants. Even 3 years later both of them think of each other fondly, implying that maybe one day Heart Pirates will return to share stories about their adventures.

That's all the canon provides us. Law generally keeps to himself, but in Law's novel he doesn't seem to have any problem to make friendships, every person he saves becomes eventually his friend, which really gives one more argument that there's no way Luffy would be the exception to that rule. But it becomes clear that the older Law gets the more reserved he becomes and doesn't seek out friendships. He probably wouldn't have perceived Kinemon as his friend if not for the condition of the alliance Luffy applied. And this begs to ask about the elephant in the room: why? Why is he that reserved and why did he allow himself to accept Kinemon as friend in the end? I think he felt it's okay to become friends with Kinemon, because he's a samurai thrugh and through. Even if they win and Kin lives, Law would leave Wano and probably never see him again. I guess that made the decision easier on him to some degree.

I have some ideas about possible reasons why Law avoids any new friendships or affectionate bonds with people and instead tries as much as he can to keep it impersonal. He clearly can be a caring and dedicated friend and I don't think his trauma is the only reason why he avoids people. Because there's no reason anymore (after defeating Doffy and Kaido) to not openly admit he made new friends. I will take a closer look at his possible reasons in the next post.

My horrible, no good, very bad, terrible, awful Mold!Ethan design (or his mutation if he’d had one)

clearly heavily influenced by the cleric beast from Bloodborne.

but I do actually have my reasons alongside the fact that I simply think the aesthetic fits well.

Deer/Antlers/Head

To me, Ethan Winters is best signified as a stag; a deer. The cleric beast, while not being completely ‘deer focused’, does have notable traits.

Deer are often thought of as shy, meek, weak prey animals due to their herbivore nature. Though certainly that can be the case, other times it is not. Deer are powerful creatures, quick and nimble. Antlers grown by deer can be strong enough to puncture the body or even cause interlocking, resulting in the eventual starvation of the other male (as well as possible decapitation).

Deer can be dangerous despite their initial appearance. A deer's kick can generate an estimated 700 psi. In comparison, a human punch can generate around 200 psi. They can easily break bone, knock a person down or cause internal bleeding through striking someone.

Ethan is often a character seen as weak or lesser than other Resident Evil protagonists, which I think is quite ridiculous. Drawing the parallel of deer and Ethan being seen as meek is an easy gap to bridge. But both are powerhouses in reality. Ethan is an unstoppable force to be reckoned with, injuries or not. More often than not, he is injuried in some form during gameplay.

Deer, even being hit by a car can still kill a man by kicking him to death through the windshield. (If it survives the initial impact of course.)

His antlers, and by extension head, would be made up of a hard material- possibly bone like. Perfect for ramming, skewering and protection.

Fur, claws, fangs, Skin

As for the fur aspect, I’m going to explain that using headcanon power/kind of canonical shit.

HGT or Horizontal Gene Transfer is the movement of genetic material between organisms other than the ‘vertical’ transmission of DNA from parent to offspring(reproduction).

HGT is present within the games and it is quite literally why Ethan is still Ethan after he is made up from the mold. Miranda uses it as well, disguising as Mia, and even Marguerite Baker ended up as a chimera of various insect genomes intersecting with her own.

All this to say, I believe the fur would come from lycans. But how?? How, dear god, is that even possible if lycans are the result of cadou experiments, emfleaa??? This is where things get more headcanony if they weren’t already. The cadou parasite changes one’s body, altering them heavily or not so unheavily. We know that lycans were the result of the cadou not taking properly to villagers, yet they are still a result of the cadou itself! As for how the DNA would be transferred onto Ethan, my explanation is extremely simple that it’s frankly stupid but apt, in my eyes.

He got his fucking fingers bitten off.

Now, I’m not saying the bite ‘infected’ Ethan, because clearly it didn’t. But for the sake of my little mold critter, I do think some lycan dna was taken in by the mold making up Ethan as a sort of reserve. Probably through the absorption of the lycans saliva through the wound.

And hence, the fur, the claws, the sharp teeth.

The skin, as I could try to depict it, wouldn’t actually be skin. It would more so be like the texture of the Molded from RE7, made up of pulsing mold.

Bloodborne

Bloodborne is so fucking amazing and personally one part sticks out to me and really makes me think of Ethan.

Djura, the retired hunter in Old Yharnam says, “There’s nothing more horrific than a hunt. In case you’ve failed to realize… the things you hunt, they’re not beasts. They’re people.”

I personally believe this sentiment fits Ethan so goddamn well. Especially if he were to mutate at all, into a beast, a monster. He’s still a person, somewhere deep down (probably).

But how or why would he mutate at all?

BLAAARRGHHH if you’re here for non-headcanon explorations into this topic this is where you can check out because I AM NOT GOING TO CLAIM I AM AN ETHAN WINTERS EXPERT. NOR RESIDENT EVIL. I AM SIMPLY A FAN WHO LIKES THIS WHITE BOY.

I truly believe Ethan Winters wouldn’t mutate unless under extreme emotional distress. I don’t believe that extreme physical distress would trigger a mutation within him, as he’s unfortunately fairly used to extreme physical distress. (Hand cut off, leg cut off, hand cut off again, impaled so many times, thrown around like a ragdoll, etc.)

Because of this mutation during extreme emotional states, I think his mutation would be a bit different from the usual “IM KILLING YOU. IM KILLING YOU. I DONT CARE WHATEVER THE FUCK ELSE IS GOING ON, I AM KILLING THAT GUY RIGHT THERE” mutation. I do think Ethan is capable of reacting violently, no doubt. I think he would lash out and create problems, but I don’t think he would actively seek them. To me, Ethan is the best example of the human will to survive.

I believe his mutation would prioritize survival over anything else. Doing whatever he needs to do to survive, no matter the cost, while staying safe.

I think on the chart of Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, Mold!Ethan would simply want the basic needs. While Ethan himself would want all of them, as is human nature.

Mold!Ethan would not seek violence, unless provoked I believe. (Which would probably happen anyways considering the conditions needed for this mutation to arise to begin with.)

What’s with the eyes/red marks?

On the topic of his eyes, you’re probably thinking, uh, where the fuck are they or why are they closed. Both great questions. My answers?

His eyes are on his face, they’re pretty massive. I imagine that he’d have them closed most of the time, as seeing through such large eyes would be incredibly overwhelming, possibly painful. Once more, I believe he’d only open them out of necessity, or extreme distress.

He’s got those big bulgy eyes like a dog or a rat boggling. (Eye colors were inspired by Jack Baker’s mutated form in the boathouse.)

The red marks along the skin are scarring; I just made them red as a sort of undertone glow that some mutations in the series have. I tried to depict most of his more severe/memorable injuries through the scars left behind, including the exclusion of his two eaten fingers.

Okay that was a lot. Anything else?

yeah uhhh here’s molded Ethan freakin out I imagine him to be like one of those really nervous shaky chihuahuas despite being incredibly tall if he stood up straight (though he quite feasibly can’t, he wouldn’t be able to support his weight)

So, I said I'd have another post with the full manga pages for reference as well as the source of the manga pages. I'm going to be using the overall chapter numbers and the individual volume numbers (not the 2-in-1 volume names) as well as the Viz localized chapter names for the references. And I'm gonna go in order of appearance in the intro.

Chapter 98, Volume 10, Typhoon Fun. Cute little note, the mouth squiggle was clearly made into a heart in the anime intro.

Chapter 15, Volume 2, The Yellow Ribbon of Happiness. Unlike many of the remade manga panels which altered some details, this one features the ribbons.

Chapter 25, Volume 3, Love and Suffering. The original manga panel featured Lum disguised as a regular human girl prior to her enrollment in the school, with her horns softened and squished to look like barrettes. This is also why her hair is shaded differently.

Chapter 38, Volume 5, Everybody in the Rain. This one required me to make a guess. It does resemble Lum scratching Ataru in the Yellow Ribbon chapter mentioned above or Lum scratching Rei in chapter 6, but this is the only scratching while flying I found. I got some anonymous help with this one.

Chapter 26, Volume 3, How I've Waited for You. Beloved iconic scene recreated faithfully.

Chapter 12, Volume 2, Intention. Though it does somewhat resemble Lum's crying fit in chapter 2 and chapter 9, this scene is definitely from this chapter.

Chapter 23, Volume 3, Zodiac Cycles. The middle part of the zodiac gyroscope device-thing lost its one-horned striped tiger-beast (Lum's zodiac sign).

Chapter 36, Volume 4, Tanabata Date. The fur on the chair ends up floating but we have all the details on the dried squid.

Chapter 83, Volume 9, A Century by Age Three. This was a red tint chapter originally, hence the manga page looking a little different.

Chapter 354, Volume 33, Steal My Heart. Almost all the manga panel recreations come from early volumes or chapters, so it is kind of crazy that this one is from so late in the series. It is a wonderfully silly pose with the iconic Rumic gesture and yes, they replaced her uniform with the typical bikini.

Chapter 13, Volume 2, Puppet. The fan was made a bit more generic, despite UY often using the Japanese flag fan as a comedic prop.

Chapter 183, Volume 18, A Night Alone. This is the Lum cooking scene that I felt most matched the anime panel. The one in chapter 240 looked a bit different. Though they clearly drew a completely different gun than the one in either panel.

Chapter 47, Volume 5, A Tragic Date. I completely overlooked this when I was digging because I misinterpreted what the anime panel was showing. I got some anonymous help and I am glad I did, because I was not gonna find it in the next 29 volumes. Anyway, this one has her beach swimsuit replaced with her usual outfit. Also, this is one of the few panels that is drawn very differently than the source seeing as Lum was drawn with very cutesy proportions in the original manga panel.

Chapter 111, Volume 11, There's a Cat on the Stairs!. I didn't expect this to be a panel recreation since Lum jumps out of it, but I saw it while digging and yeah, it is clearly the same goofy expression.

Are there fairy tales and folk tales with real queer subtext?

I always hear about the existence of fairy tales with queer subtext. I even posted a tale with a subtle lesbian subtext some years ago.

But it was one of the few I could find. This and the one with the transgender Prince Charming.

Are there more of them?

Well there are a lot of those stories around but it is hard to exactly locate and pinpoint them precisely because of how scattered they are and how usually subtle it all is. With mythology and legends of the sort you have much better chance.

Though when it comes to traditional fairytales, the ones we do have are not very queer-coded. Cinderella isn't. Snow-White isn't. Sleeping Beauty isn't. Little Red Riding Hood DEFINITIVELY is about hetero predation with nothing in it.

I did find a quite fascinating article about the lesbian reading of "Frau Trude" by the brothers Grimm! It was contained in an interesting book called "Transgressive tales: Queering the Grimm". I did think the analysis went a bit further than what it should have and some elements were really pulled by the hair, but that's very typical of a lot of scholarly analysis. I remember during my research for writing my memoir, I stumbled across a psycho-sexual analysis of "Cunning Cinders" by madame d'Aulnoy, which wanted us to believe that the oven in which the ogre was pushed was a vaginal symbol and thus the heroine killed the monster... by sex? WTF. That's clearly NOT the meaning intended.

Honestly for this kind of research, go and try to read books precisely about the analysis of queer elements or subtext in fairytales. There is a LOT of those analysis coming around and a lot of books to choose from - try to see if you can reach or access any.

The problem is that the queer elements in the "serious" or "well known" fairytales, in the European sense, are very much missing precisely due to their "classic" nature which meant if there were any, they probably ended up removed, but there probably wasn't any in the first place, else they wouldn't have become classic. It is insitutional, cultural, historical homophobia, but we're not going to remake the world and it is as it is: if you want real "queer fairytales" you have to dig up in the obscure, overseen, forgotten corners of folklore study. I made a post a long time ago about the whole case of "The Sailor and the Dog", have you seen it? Else I should sent it back to you.

There is definitively much, much more queer subtext in literary fairytales precisely due to their artificial nature and how the authors put their personal experiences in it - and it doesn't help a lot of fairytale authors were queers themselves, from the 18th century France authors nobody remembers to Andersen. In general the literary fairytales (at least those of the 17th/18th century France) LOVED to play around with deviant sexuality and erotic subtone and "perversions" of all kinds. After all, Donkey Skin is about an incestuous father! Beauty and the Beast also always was a way for people to play around with zoophilia subtexts (though today it'd just be called "furries" I guess). There is one humoristic fairytale by Catherine Bernard called "The Prince Rose-Bush", about a prince turned into a rose-tree. And the many instances of the princess being caught or hurt by his thorns, crying over his petals while hugging the plant, having her dress torn by the branches... They all clearly were meant to have a little *wink wink* at the reader. You will DEFINITIVELY find more queer subtext in fairytales that involve crossdressing as a plot device - I know French authors LOVED the idea of crossdressing for their plots (usually a woman disguised as a man) and all the romantic confusions it caused, and so you always find in there a lot of queer elements.

Though all of this stayed very VERY subtle throughout the decades, and in France we would have to wait until the second half of the 18th century when the subgenre of "bawdy fairytales" popped up and suddenly everybody was writing stories even more explicit than Basile's Pentamerone or Straparole's Facetious Nights, about men being cursed at having their penis turned into a soup-spoon or a lover being turned into a couch over which his mistress slept, and other weird stuff like that.

Which brings me to another element: the same way queer elements are going to be very hidden, subtle in commonplace and famous stories, go look for the tales of explicitely sexual nature. The dirty tales, bawdy tales, grotesque tales - they are literaly everywhere, they always existed not just in literature but also in folklore since as early as time. And precisely due to being places where everything dirty and grotesque and sexual and gory exploded - that's where you find most easily the queer presence, since everybody always loved to have "sodomy comedy" at every era.

It is not a "fairytale per se" but it is still tied to it all: Le Roman de Renart, Reynard the Fox as the English call him. His adventures and ensemble of texts is not fairytale - it is rather a different sub-genre of medieval literature and folklore... But it did seep and influence the fairytale genre heavily because more than half of the "animal tales" or "fairytales about talking animals" in those fairytale anthologies and collections are actually derived from the Fox's adventures. (You will find in almost every European country, in fairytale collections, a simplified version of Reynard tricking Isengrim in losing his tail to a frozen pond or eating too much so he can't leave the building he just entered in). And Reynard the Fox was a bisexual icon. Well... as much as a rapist, murder, scammer, thief, pathological liar, sociopath-psychopath and necromancer at times can be a bisexual icon.

Because among the many sex jokes and sexual farces of the Roman, there are several tales of Reynard sodomizing as much women as men. Most notably there was one episode of the Fox and the Hare which revolves around gay sex as a joke.

Yes, it's crude, it's dirty, it's dark and rude and there's absolutely no romance whatsoever... But it is another fact of European literature (because again, I speak for Europe here mostly): gay romance is rare, but gay sex abound ; serious queer themes are hidden and erased, but grotesque queer farces did survive to this day. It is just an old phenomenon: whenever something is morally reprehensible or disapproved by a society, it will survive in culture mostly through the comedies and what we would call today "shock value" content. A la Roman de Renart.

I also think Aladdin would've been greatly improved if he had more competition for her hand. The only source of conflict in that whole movie, outside of Aladdin's self esteem issues, is Jafar, who wants to use him to get into the Cave of Wonders and then only wants him out of the way when he's disguised as a prince. By adding in another good option like a version of Jafar who's the same age as her, it would add more personal conflict for Aladdin and make him need to actually prove himself to win her over. As is, it does seem like Jasmine picked the best option out of the shitty hand that was dealt to her and Aladdin just needs to go to therapy instead of trying to get another partner. Again, that's just me.

Well the series did allow for a few. The most well known was, of course, Mozenrath, (favorite of mine, not gonna lie, Rip Johnathan Brandis), who sometimes flirted with her and clearly had a thing for her, but also lusted after power, so there was that. And then there was Daru Tavelevil, who was this conman like dude who came off as cultured and impressed Jasmine a bit with it, turned out to be selling iron to one of the other villains. Prince Wazoo was a snooty guy who tried to win her over, but, um...he was more of a joke character, and some people have shipped her with Arbutus, who was a kind of cross between Beast in personality, and Poison Ivy.

In the original Arabian Night's story there was a small conflict in the form of Aladdin, using his Jinn to beat the son of the Vizier who was an option for the Princess to marry, though, depending on the retelling if she was into the guy or not. Some versions have him a clown, some have him a threat, others just have him as like, parents wanted them to marry because. From what I've read and seen of the making of Aladdin, there was going to be more to it. Aladdin's mom was going to be in the movie, being the moral voice to her son with the Genie, helping him to see that he had to make it up to the princess, and be better for her. Basically, what you're saying is Mozenrath should have been in the original movie. XD I mean, given what Iago said about how strong he was in magic, and then later we see what he does when he brain washes here, I can see where people would want that to happen. I do really wish they would have kept his mom involved somehow, it could have helped with some plotting beats, but at the time, most animated movies were between 89 and 93 minutes long. You didn't have the 2 hour plus run time some of them get now to expand on dynamics, so the songs had to do the heavy lifting. Could it have made for more drama, yes. But I'm not totally sure it would be as needed in this case, as the romance, while important to the story, was more about the growth and bonding between Genie and Aladdin. Showing how their friendship allows him to become more honest and true to who he is. And while I'm all for the romance in the story, I'm okay with it being the B plot of the relationship dynamic. Opposed to Beauty and the Beast, where the Romance is A plot, and everything else is B plot. Aladdin was a shift from that formula at the time.

Same kinda with Hercules, Mulan, and Hunchback. Family and Friendships took the mainstage, and romance moved to the back. Aladdin kinda was a bit of a start of that.

It's fun discussing these sorts of things. Ps. if you ever get the chance, and you can find it (since Disney still doesn't have it up on Disney Plus) look up the Aladdin series episode The Secret of Dagger Rock. It's the one where Jasmine fights Mozenrath to free Aladdin. (Additionally for Evil Jasmine, look up Forget Me Not, where she gets tricked into thinking she's a famous villain and totally leads the hell out of a team of baddies, forcing Abis Mal to ask for help to stop her from Aladdin. It's where her black outfit first shows up)

The Shadows of the Twin Prodigies

Magnus and Cleo, shadows to Malenia and Miquella, respectively. Backstories below the cut.

Magnus

Malenia was around four years old when the Rot first manifested. There was a significant period of utter panic, where she was isolated from everyone aside from Radagon and the occasional healer in order to prevent the Rot from spreading.

As her parents slowly discovered the nature of her curse, it became apparent that the Rot could not be spread through simple contact or proximity, and Malenia was allowed to be with her brothers and their shadows once more.

However, the damage had already been done. Her shadow, Magnus, never really got over being separated from his charge. For a shadow-beast compelled to protect, being prevented from carrying out his duties of guardianship was a psychologically devastating experience.

Magnus carried rather severe attachment issues, growing to be a rather prickly and volatile individual. Despite desperately wishing to be understood, he would lash out at anyone who he perceived to be offering pity or sympathy -- although these outbursts always involved threats rather than actual violence.

When Malenia began her training with the Blind Swordsman, Magnus insisted on accompanying her on every outing. He served as her primary sparing partner, his size and strength making him a worthy opponent even for a demigod.

He is an intensely proud (and insecure) individual, and he believes that Malenia is the only person to truly care for him without pitying him. He has a gut-level jealousy toward Miquella, though when pressed he will admit that such feelings are not rational. He's never really gotten along with Miquella at all -- Miquella has an ingrained need to help and solve problems, and Magnus hates for people to notice the problems that he so clearly has.

Blaidd once tried to befriend the younger shadow, but Magnus ran him off in a hurry. Maliketh is really the only other person he feels comfortable with -- his uncle was the one to look after him while Malenia was being quarantined.

Cleo

Like Miquella, Cleo never grew beyond childhood. Despite her outwardly cheerful temperament, she is still a shadow. The idea that her physical limitations might prevent her from defending her charge weighed heavily on her.

Her primary coping mechanism has been avoidance. She tends to be a bit jumpy and anxious, and prefers to skirt around uncomfortable topics. Some would say she is overly sensitive. She is still a genuinely compassionate and kind individual. During Miquella's outings as St. Trina, she would bundle up to disguise her wolven features and follow him in the guise of another perfumer. Even if she could not realistically do much to defend him, she still felt that it was her responsibility to keep watch.

She is a quick learner, and easily picked up Miquella's skill with herbs and potions. Although she never shared his talent for incantations, she likely could have become a renown perfumer if given the proper training.

Cleo looks up to Magnus, almost to the degree of hero worship -- in her eyes, he is everything that a shadow should be. She still finds him a bit intimidating. She remembers Radagon fondly. He tried to teach her incantations along with Miquella, and despite her lack of aptitude she recalls him being a patient teacher.

After Miquella's stolen Erdtree sapling began to grow, the Greater Will activated the two shadows against the twins. Cleo happened to be the closest when the switch flipped. Ironically, Miquella's curse saved his life -- had Cleo been a fully grown shadow-beast, it is doubtful that Malenia would have been able to pull her off of him in time. He still has the scar, a line of small teeth-marks wrapping around his chest and shoulder, a scar which he has carried as a sort of memorial ever since.

In all likelihood, Miquella's curse saved Cleo's life as well. Due to her small size and limited strength, Malenia was able to subdue her without killing her.

As soon as she put together what was happening, Malenia left Miquella with Ranni and Blaidd. Then she raced out to the hidden alcove where the sapling had been planted, and sat down to wait for Magnus.

By the time Radagon and Godwyn arrived, the duel was already over. Having failed again and again to reach him, Malenia finally incapacitated her shadow by cutting off his leg.

The twins departed from Leyndell not long after, bringing their heavily sedated shadows along with them. As time went on, the two managed to fight back against their compulsion to a certain extent. A pair of unalloyed needles helped. Even so, being in proximity to their charges was agony, and the compulsion to attack faded with distance.

While the twins worked to establish the Haligtree, the twin shadows took up residence in the ruins of the ancient town of Ordina. For a long while, Magnus made do with a peg-leg and a cane. Eventually, Miquella crafted him a replacement leg. For the first time, Magnus felt he could accept his shadow-brother's aid -- the gift was a mark of trust, giving Magnus back his full mobility and his power as a warrior. Although he has never set eyes upon the Haligtree, he guards Ordina diligently.

Cleo continued to hone her skills as an apothecary and herbalist. Corresponding via letters, she helped Miquella refine his specialized strain of Trina's lilies, as well the soporifics that they produced. Cleo eventually fell into the habit of Dreamwalking -- in the dream realm, she was free from the nagging pull of her compulsion. After Miquella's disappearance, she spent more and more time in the dream realm, hoping to find him.

Fake it friday with any of your Steve's 😋

He has insisted they come out, all of them, to test out the newest version of the nano mask. Tony had given all the Avengers one before they set out to one of the most popular hotspots in the city, a place that wasn’t entirely up to Stark’s standards. They would have usually had a party at the compound or on Tony’s Manhattan sky-rise, but for the sake of the experiment they’d headed into the thick of the city.

Steve had felt minor discomfort from the nano mask as it obscured his face and altered his appearance, it was like an itch that he couldn’t scratch and there was no comfort from alcohol. Unless he had Thor’s Asguardian speciality, there was no affect for the upper soldier.

Still, Steve was meant to be enjoying himself and there was some kind of secondary joy from seeing Bucky helplessly flirt with one of the women in the club, the two of them stealing away for a private conversation in a quieter part of the bar. He had remained by himself, albeit momentarily as Tony took Pepper to dance, Bruce starkly denied coming, Wanda and Vision were off by themselves, and Nat had wandered to the bathroom.

Steve had reached for the drink that wouldn’t have any effect and started to lift it from the bar-top when movement from the left of him had given him pause. Steve had set his glass back down and furrowed his brows as a woman had scurried from the crowd toward him, and then half-heartedly crashed into him.

“Pretend to be my boyfriend.” She came off abrupt yet she was scared, fear clearly written on her face. “Please pretend to know me or be my boyfriend or something.”

The disguise had guaranteed you didn’t know him but that hadn’t stopped Steve, the hero that he was, to want to protect and shield you from wherever you were running from.

“There’s this guy my ‘friend’ wanted me to meet, only this guy is a total creep and spent the entire Tim staring at my chest and making stupid comments-“ he felt you shiver when a man had come bristling through the crowds with widening eyes and the kind of predatory look in his eyes that Steve had seen far too many times.

“Public displays of affection make people very uncomfortable.” Steve remembered what Natasha had once said to him and acted instinctively.

He had pulled you directly into his side and held your back against the bar, his hands on either side of you while the man you were running away from had stepped closer. Steve hadn’t looked at him, he hadn’t taken his eyes off of you and with a knee-jerk reaction, he had slammed his lips upon yours to kiss you provocatively. His hands slid down to your hips, fingers grabbing the material of your dress as he pushed against you. He hadn’t anticipated sparks bolts of electricity to rush through him, he didn’t anticipate to feel a growl building in his throat as the man accosting you had stepped closer.

Steve hadn’t expected to react like a territorial beast who was protecting his mate or his captured prey, but he sure as hell didn’t stop it. He had pulled away when it was clear the two of you needed to breathe, and then he looked back at the man who’ followed you. His eyes narrowed and he had shifted positions, almost squaring off against him while keeping you tucked against his back.

“Never mind.” The prick shook and trembled, his voice wavering. “I’ve got..”

When he had scurried away, Steve heard your relieved sigh and felt the tension from your body dissipating. He had turned back toward you, studying your briefly as you leaned against the bar and huffed.

“I hate modern dating.” You made the comment and then turned to face Steve, tilting your head ever so slightly. “Thank you, you really saved me from…that.”

“You’re welcome,” he was kind of in a daze, sweeping his eyes across you while the lingering electricity had crackled beneath his skin, “do you…want a drink?”

You opened your mouth to speak, to answer him with either acceptance or denial, only to snap your mouth shut when Nat had arrived, her faux brown eyes flickering between Steve and yourself.

“I should go…I have to get up early tomorrow.” Steve knew you assumed Nat was his girlfriend judging by the way you has shifted away, and he had debated denying the claim himself. “Thank you again for helping me.”

Steve watched with bated breath, he waited in silence as you began walking away from him.

“Get her number, idiot.” Nat gave his shoulder a shave, stirring the soldier into action. “She’s cute.”

Steve tore after you, weaving in and out of the crowd until he finally escaped the club, the chilled air hitting him head on. “If i can’t buy you a drink, could i have your number?”

So here's the thing.

(And your ask is super nice and in absolute good-faith, it's just also a good way of getting into this stuff.)

Buffy the Vampire Slayer is not Joss Whedon. House of Cards is not Kevin Spacey. But Harry Potter kinda is JK Rowling. She has an astounding and honestly pretty unique amount of both creative control and ownership over that property. The only other person I can think of who's even in the same category is George Lucas... before he sold it to Disney, obviously.

And JKR has written about how she interprets the royalty checks she gets as kind of tacit approval from the world, which makes sense because she's been also very public about how she spends those royalty checks to support anti-trans campaigners and legislation.

But. But. I get wanting to engage with the property. I mean, obviously. I'm going to tag this 'sortinghatchats.' The parent system is clearly HP, and the point of changing the terminology was never disguising that, it was more supposed to communicate that I am not engaging with the work or its creator uncritically. I think it's worked pretty well. I've gotten maybe one piece of anon hate calling me a terf? That's not bad.

I'm a teacher, and the place I work attracts a *lot* of LGBT students. Trans and non-binary especially. And they're interested in Harry Potter. They read a lot of Harry Potter fanfiction. They want to talk to me about Harry Potter, and about JK Rowling. I don't see this property fading away any time soon.

And like. I was a fan. I waited until midnight in a bookstore to get books 4, 5, 6 and 7. My Sibyl Trelawney came in second at the book 7 costume contest. Which was fine because the girl who won did the most perfect Hermione you've ever seen, and spent the whole time handing out SPEW badges and knitting house elf clothing.

Recently, I'm finding myself wanting to unpack this property as an adult. Maybe understand some of the biases I didn't pick up as a kid, maybe do right by some of my favorite characters. Because there's good stuff in there. How much was on accident versus on purpose, how much is the fandom interpreting the text in a specific way, how much is the films smoothing over issues... and creating different issues... I would like to work all that out.

And actually, when I started writing some Harry Potter fanfiction over the holidays, it came pouring out, and it felt *good.* Clearly I've got a lot of *stuff* that I want to examine and *put somewhere,* and for me, writing (ships that JKR doesn't like) was a fun and ethical way to do that. Maybe I'll even post it with a nice disclaimer.

So that's me. Fanfiction, fan side-projects, fan merch. I guess the argument against that would be "free advertising," but like - HP has so much just - actual advertising - and I'd like it if people who still wanted to engage with the property had somewhere else to go. So no Hogwarts Legacy for me, no Fantastic Beasts films, or HBO miniseries, or even Cormoran Strike books. (and people don't talk about this enough - but a big aspect of that series is essentially JKR writing a non-magic AU where she ships herself with Mad-Eye Moody. I have no idea what to do with this information, but now you have it too.)

I could see myself writing more about JKR or Harry Potter, once I've turned it over more in my mind and feel like I have something useful and new to say. But as it is, this is a snapshot of where I am.

What's Ash's role in the story? Ash is a human(ish) barbarian and the protagonist of the Tigerverse series. He is the current partner of Evius, who was previously romantically involved with Ash’s whumper: Ozmund Greenthorn. Ash was originally created as a character for an ongoing DnD campaign, though the stories on this blog mostly divert from the canon of that game.

Fun Facts about Ash:

Due to his tiger heritage and upbringing, Ash can communicate with cats and (with some effort) most other animals. He’s also picked up bits and pieces of other languages based on whomever he interacts with most (including a little Elven from Kane and Infernal from Evius).

Ash, like all tigers, is red-green colorblind. He only learned this after being with the party for some time—he didn’t realize he had orange fur. In fact, Evius’ coppery tiefling skintone doesn’t look much different to Ash than his human disguise. He can, however, distinguish shades of blue and yellow. (I’m just now realizing he probably doesn’t realize Mouse’s hair is pink. Bummer.)

Even in his human form, Ash has heightened animal-like senses which often overwhelm him. For that reason, he tends to dislike crowded areas and sticks close to Evius or Kane in the city.

He does not have a barbed penis, but man do we love to joke about it lol

His intelligence is kind of paradoxical. He didn’t have any formal education, and just about everything he knows about the “civilized” world came from Kane, so he’s not exactly “book-learned.” But, for the same reasons, he doesn’t have a lot of social knowledge either. His intellect is mostly centered around his knowledge of the natural world and survival, as well as his keen skills of observation and problem-solving. When his intelligence increased from the mindflayer tadpole, it mostly just made it easier for him to learn things and put concepts together; it didn’t impart any factual knowledge on him. Almost like he had ADHD and got adderall for the first time lol

That being said, he did become more aware of all the social rules he hadn’t noticed or cared about before. Suddenly, he felt embarrassed at being seen nude because now he could put together that not everyone was as comfortable as him and that most people felt some amount of shame about nudity. It also helped him finally connect the pieces that his attraction to Evius wasn’t just platonic.

Hilarious corollary: Hsa (what the tadpole named itself) has experienced the world through Ash since it was implanted. Meaning, it has felt everything Ash has felt and seen everything he’s seen. It knows all his thoughts and feelings. It has seen aaallll of Ash and Evius’ . . . interactions.

Biggest Secret: Ash would love to have a big family and lots of babies. He’s even fantasized about being pregnant—he’s still a little shaky on exactly how humanoid biology works. (And Evius’ player has forbidden me from writing mpreg fanfic boooo)

The Autobot was looking for clues about the Omega Lock and heard that Arcadia Oaks will be a best place to look. Jetfire didn't expect an actual war aftermath between peculiar stone creatures, humans nor the strange beast like Cybertronian. There goes hiding in plain sight.

Congrats Optimus Prime! You just became a cool dad to four more human teenagers, one teenage Cybertronian, one wizard, two Akiridions, one dragon familiar, two trolls and one plant fairy demigod. A larger audience for thy dad jokes!

Can I say Autobots in Trollmarket? Let's be real that Bud would honestly want to at least have a second base with Arcadia being a good hub for public relations as the main reason. Real one is because he wants to know more about magic.

Humans on the battlefield! I repeat humans on the battlefield! Claire just teleported Thundecracker into a cliff! Toby whacked Starscream with a gravity hammer! Where did Steve and Eli get those cannons?! Douxie clearly earned his name as he just hit Megatron with a magic guitar!

Jim is precious and he snares Jungle Planet with the curiosity of a lost Sparkling in seconds. Even when he rams Scourge for being mean to Lori. He's got 'Adopt Me' written on his forehead.

Strickler and Optimus being the responsible dads with huge responsibilities. (Both are intimidated by Barbara too.) Pirate jokes ahoy as Strickler tends to hang out on Optimus' shoulder like a parrot alongside their pirate captain.

Movieverse: Post Bumblebee

Autobot Discoverer: Mirage

Was just passing through and Arcadia Oaks being a pit stop. Optimus knew the moment Mirage mentioned running into a war aftermath that it's going to be a LONG DAY. The strange stone organics and the Cybertronian amongst them solidify it.

Tired dad Optimus Prime acquires 12 more kids with only one being a Cybertronian. All of them are mischievous gremlins and have either weaponry or powers. Primus help him.

Bumblebee is FINALLY not the youngest Autobot of the group anymore! He called dibs on big brother in an instant much to Mirage's dismay. Jim's just confused about why they're bickering and a bit too hungry to care.

Arcee has now joined the kickass girl's group. She often hangs out at Tarron's place and they talk about all kinds of stuff together. It is very refreshing especially when the girls prank the boys.

Optimus has an aneurysm the moment the kids run into the battlefield. Mirage thinks it's cool as he, Toby and Krel try out a new combo. Bumblebee is shooting from atop Jim's back. Arcee doesn't help either as she gets Douxie closer to fire off a spell.

Truck dad goes to Trollhunter dad for advice as the other two troll dads are enablers to the kids' dumb antics. Strickler just pats a shellshocked Optimus on the back while Barbara regains order in seconds.

Mirage decides Arcadia Oaks is the coolest place to hide out at. Drive Thru Movie theaters are so much more fun when you don't have to go incognito. Even if the trolls are snack thieves.

Transformers Prime/Robots In Disguise 2015: Post Darkness Rising/Trust Exercises

Autobot Discoverer: Ratchet

He rarely goes on missions, especially solo ones as someone has to maintain the space bridge. Sadly Ratchet is the only expert when it comes to strange Energon signals. He knew he shouldn't have left the base upon the now inactive warzone with the humans, stone creatures and the lone teenage Cybertronian.

Ratchet dumps 12 kids for Optimus to be an awkward dad for as he ain't herding them alone. Man is stunned by the betrayal and is so confused. He drags down Bumblebee with him since the bot got his new voice box.

You can bet your ass every Autobot had an aneurysm when the human kids ran into the battlefield. They tend to forget about the superpowers, magic and high tech weapons. It doesn't do much to ease the panic.

The kids and less mature Autobots definitely teach each other swears in respective languages much to Bumblebee's horror. It's quite infectious as Ratchet blurts out a Trollish swear then gasps in horror. Sidesweep and Miko thinks its hilarious.

Strickler has to help the poor Dadbots in reigning the kids. Trollhunter duties do include establishing the peace. Even if it means Barbara has to step in cause Sidesweep, Miko and Toby together are terrors.

Bumblebee is happy he isn't the youngest Autobot anymore but is annoyed that he's still the shortest. How come the new kid matches Bulkhead in size already and is still growing?! Toby just pats him on the back as consolation.

Prowl and Nari are nature siblings. They got a homemade garden growing near base alongside one for meditation purposes. AAARRRGGHH is often confused for a mossy rock though.

Optimus Prime is happy that someone likes hearing his speeches as Jim and Draal are curious. Everyone jokes he can now add Dadbot to his personal title. He prefers the term Dadimus.

Probably the least concerned about humans on the battlefield as they can properly defend themselves. None of the bots let them stray too far though. Even if it's funny when Starscream gets whacked in the face with a guitar and hammer.

Sari loves not being the only human in the group. Although Strickler makes sure she doesn't get into serious Troll business once the bots decide to have a second base in Arcadia. Barbara is a life saver for Ratchet when it comes to treating human youths.

Teenagers being absolute terrors on the battlefield much to the Decepticons sudden horror. You know shit is about to hit the fan when Starscream gets clocked by a crystal hammer then knocked over by a half troll teen. Prowl is the only Autobot proud with the chaos.

Barbara being an absolute terror as she represents the Trolls when meeting planet leaders. Scourge gets throttled by a half Troll mother into next week much to Override's amusement. Better by on your best behavior in Arcadia should ya visit!

Beast Cyber Planet Key and Jim? Unpredictable combination of monstrous proportions. Jim learns how to be a beast alongside Leo Breaker. Prowl gets dogpiled later as the poor former human misses his brother.

He had picked up an unknown distress signal linked to his comm. system. The source being somewhere in Arcadia Oaks, California. Optimus never thought it to be a horrific aftermath of a war between humans, strange stone entities and the lone Autobot who looks at him like a ghost.

Optimus becomes an even more tired dad to 13 kids with one avoiding him and Bumblebee like the plague. At least he has some help in the form of the human 'Trollhunter' turned half troll. Primus give him more assistance.

Young Autobots are curious about how it's like to have two non-Cybertronian siblings and be adopted by a former human. Prowl just stares before pointing at his two trollish siblings cross horns as they spar while Barbara fell asleep on some tires from exhaustion. "...Guess this is how bossman feels everyday."

Is it bad to be half concerned about how feral these teenagers are on the battlefield? Prowl ain't holding them back nor is Barbara. Optimus knew he needs a drink later when Toby began to FLY with his hammer.

Secret weapon to handling young Autobots is a half troll mother. It is quite a sight to see a small woman drag a giant robot by his servos after he got into a police chase. Even more impressive with the scolding that follows.

Bee and Optimus try to reach out to Prowl. Ninjabot closes up until his two siblings give him a shove. Reluctant bonding time with heartache ahoy!

Arcadia Oaks proves to be very whacky after they welcome the refugee Autobots. Laying low is a bit difficult when a goblin hungrily stares at your tires. Good thing there are places they can hide out that isn't the street.

She had been investigating a possible Energon Mine when a signal reached her. Arcee obviously alerted command before she went to check it out. The war aftermath between humans and strange stone beings were not what Arcee expected. Neither was the bot amongst them.

13 kids gets adopted and split between Ratchet, Bumblebee, then finally Optimus. Prowl doesn't seem to want anything to do with the three Autobots or Bulkhead though. Not a great start.

Grimlock wanting to roughhouse with Prowl's trollish siblings? Absolutely! It's way more fun when they can be wild just like this Dinobot! Barbara makes sure the boys don't go too far though troll mom might step in for a turn.

Most concerned about humans not only being on the battlefield but Prowl is all for it! Becomes clear that the 'War For Arcadia' went much deeper than they thought. At least there is some supervision...

"How To Treat Sunstains, Written By A Tired Autobot". Ratchet is just lucky that it's similar to dealing with metal burns. Although Miko is getting scolded later as Jim gets treated. At least he doesn't try to run like some patients.

Blinky, Eli and Fixit are disastrous conspiracy nuts that need to be watched at all time. Doesn't help when Krel, Sideswipe or Miko likes to enable them for even extra chaos. Prowl is quick to call Barbara before they set a house on fire.

Team Unknown Heartache tries to befriend the ninjabot. Half troll mom intervenes before Prowl has a mental breakdown. Trauma is very hard to recover from so it's best to take one step at a time.

hi. march. slowly shortening this introduction to my posts. sorry if this is a little incoherent i woke up in the middle of the night and im getting sleepy again

i tried looking up fanfiction involving hannyabul and magellan the other day and there was almost none??? i really thought theyd be .. at least a little popular ... the dynamics... arent the dynamics similar to zosan or cavendish and bartolomeo.. dont people like that.. (i wouldnt know since ive never really been a fan of the enemies/rivals to lovers trope)

im pretty sure kidd wears a beast pirate disguise? and like .. good for him... (good for me).. hes got the titties out. i love men. i also rly enjoy the few frobin moments we get when theyre in disguise, theyre super cute!! it seems like u havent been spoiled on the Biggest Moments in wano so im very very glad to hear that. it also kind of has a mystery aspect so i think its probably way more enjoyable to go in blind. there IS a special kind of anticipation when u know what's coming but.. imo its more fun to guess how things will go rather than know and be excited about it

honestly i didnt care for the setting either. in the anime tho .. big mom's introduction is so good. theres a song that plays (its in the manga too but it's way better to hear it rather than... read lyrics) and when i started wci i was still watching the anime, so i got to listen to the song. it was stuck in my head for days. very catchy. i love how theatrical it is and it really made me excited for the arc .. and then i ended up barely enjoying it LOL. also i do actually love pudding but her age also makes me go... ewww. oda made an awful decision making her 16 . gives me kyros flashbacks.. although sanji doesnt seem to be genuinely interested in her. but still like why did oda do that... why... what is the point ... wci does pick back up a bit imo after they get sanji back (which i think is the part ur at? or a little bit after?) and i honestly think it wraps up quite nicely. and yeah.. most importantly.. katakuri is introduced in the second half. lovely guy. i heart him

an issue i have post timeskip is that i actually cannot tell the women apart half the time. they all look pretty similar in the manga, although theyre distinguishable by their clothes and hair. but there was a spread (not colored) that had the main one piece women all in different clothes and with different hair and i sat there for multiple minutes trying to figure out who was who. like i genuinely couldnt tell. i miss nami's short hair,, it had so much character.. and i also miss robins short hair.. again.. it had so much character.

even on a colored cover i had a moment where i was like "is that vivi or is it nami" because it was just a solid blue. i assumed vivi based off context clues and bc.. blue. but if i hadnt had that.. i dont think i wouldve been able to tell. i have no problem with character design changing but oda makes most of the women next to indistinguishable from one another now. its really upsetting. if they had different skin tones or even just. different eye shapes. or different figures. it wouldnt be that much of an issue. but nooo he cant do that. all women who are supposed to be attractive have to look the same.

oh they for sure have some good points. i also miss the silly shenanigans of pre timeskip. but overall im enjoying post timeskip more, and i do think theyre at least a LITTLE BIT blinded by nostalgia. its hard not to be tbh. i do really miss seeing all the crew together. i dont exactly mind them splitting up but .. i feel like a lot of them end up kind of sidelined. we dont get to see (just some examples) brook or chopper or nami fight much and i. i love them.. i love them just as much as the rest of the crew. i think nami has a really interesting fighting style. and brook is just fun. and people complain (validly) that chopper has been mascotified. which i wouldnt mind so much if he got more cool moments but he doesnt!! we dont even get to see him being a doctor that often :(.

like the writing is still fantastic but yeah. i agree. oda has basically run the jokes that were already pretty tired. into the ground. sanji being the one who suffers most from it. i dont mind robin having more moments where she imagines a really gruesome thing has happened to someone, for example. because she barely did that pre timeskip, and now she only does it occasionally so its not like "oh my god STOP". its still enjoyable. but. idk if theres even a prominent example of someone's character joke being awful other than sanji. like hes the only one who has a consistently awful joke. that in my opinion has never been funny. and its been made into a huge part of his character. i still love post timeskip to death bc. look at everything thats happening!! but i have a lot . lot . lot of gripes with it.

i saw someone say usopp would get conquerers haki and i big time disagree. he has the best observation haki in the crew and i feel like him getting conquerers haki would kinda cheapen that. and it cheapens his growth. why does he need to have conquerers haki to be a brave warrior of the sea? hes doing perfectly well without it. and also i dont think it fits his character. hes cowardly, has no self confidence, runs away from battles sometimes out of fear, and definitely has a huge sense of shame. from what i know, people with conquerers haki are usually super self assured, strong in a pretty traditional sense, and dont have much self doubt. usopp is like the opposite of that. i think hes very brave because he fights despite how scared he is, but the character archetype just doesn't work imo. like usopp without those characteristics is. to me. not usopp. tell me what u think!! also im like 90% sure none of this is spoilery but if it is i am so so sorry

that scene in sabaody of usopp asking rayleigh if the one piece is real, and luffy gets mad and tells usopp that he doesnt want to know, and if he finds out he will quit right now because he wont go on an adventure that isnt any fun. luffy is such a chill, silly captain, that im sure him snapping like that must be scary. usopp looked so shocked. i love their relationship. i think moments like that. really solidify how real the characters feel. like yeah, they have strong, defined morals. and they will argue and be childish and yell for the sake of their morals. i feel like a lot of media has characters with morals but it doesn't ever show them actually disagreeing with someone. let alone a friend. idk im not wording this great but i think this moment is so good. i love the moments of childishness in one piece. its very humanizing to have immaturity in ur characters

Before the next mission [HSR DRABBLE]

Occasional detours such as these weren't uncommon in their line of work. It was one of many things he'd been forced to grow accustomed to. The downtime in between the chaos and conflict. Being left to his own devices and, even worse still, his own thoughts.. Well, it was bothersome at the best of times. Torture at the worst.

This instance, however, was something of a rarity. It was seldom that they had to re-tread ground on the way to their next objective. Well, not quite re-treading, but it was a world that had already lost all value to them as a group. A world previously visited by the Astral express and was now in the process of healing from countless years of pain and strife.

Blade parted ways from Kafka and Silver Wolf the moment they set foot into the one remaining bastion of humanity on Jarilo VI. Not due to fear of being found out, no. Considering how isolated and grounded the people of this planet were, they luckily didn't even have to bother with the usual disguises. He just couldn't take the hustle and bustle of the city is all. So many smiling faces. Shouts of jubilation. Children with hope twinkling in their eyes.

All it took was one young man causing a brief recollection to pass through his mind. Memories of a friend from a life left behind, for him to seek refuge elsewhere. The Underworld, as they called it, was slightly more to his liking. If only because most of the more joyful populace was spending it's time upwards, exploring the world they had been cut off from for so long. Those underground at the moment were the seedier members of their society, along with the peacekeeping forces aimed at maintaining order. As well as those looking after the infirm, who were still too weak to move.

But what was he to do? Nothing, really. Until Kafka gave the green light for them to move on, they were simply left to do whatever they pleased. Which for him, meant nothing, given his more focused desires.

'Hey, you! Yeah, you, with the sword! You look like you know your way around a fight. Definitely more than the batch of sad sacks I have right now.'

He stops only when his path is physically barred by this loud and obnoxious miscreant. The man had begun to introduce himself, but Blade barely even paid him any mind. All that registered was the name 'Scott' and some inane blathering about a club he owned. It wasn't the first time he was hassled by some stranger, but that did not make it any less annoying.

The urge to groan is overwhelming, as was his desire to simply push past him and leave. That is, until he notices something.. odd. Something that stood out. Something that clearly did not belong. Was that.. a Fragmentum monster? No, not quite. That wasn't a beast of destruction. It was a living, human being. He had slain enough of both to sense the difference. And yet, he was wearing the husk of one of those monsters.

For the first time since he set foot on this aeonforsaken rock, his curiosity was piqued by something. Enough that he chose to humor Scott's invitation for him to star in one of his little fight club's events.

The competition was.. Well, it could barely even be called that. Even though he was only set as the opening act, the announcer apparently boasted afterwards that he'd managed to subdue one of their most promising fighters. Chants of 'Bladie' roared among the spectators, which momentarily made him regret giving that as an alias. But at least his obligation was done and over with. Now he could see what he'd really come here to see.

A contest between a man clad in a monster's carcass against a deadly array of machinery. Just what kind of circumstances could have led to such a comedy? What's more, what could drive a man to so eagerly embrace death? He was no fool. He knew that the man was already in the process of being infected. Corrupted by Fragmentum corrosion. No human could practically bathe themselves in it and not come out unscathed. He clearly must have had a death wish.

Something that Blade himself could relate to. So it was only natural that he saw fit to witness the man's final moments.

At least, that was what he had expected. While the man was clearly suffering beneath that set of 'armor', his actions were not those of someone seeking death. No, it wasn't that. That ferocity. That tenacity. That desperation. More flashes of the past raced through his mind, causing a small scowl to appear across his face. That wasn't a man seeking death. That was a man fighting to survive.

Madness. How utterly preposterous. Then why on earth did he wear that thing's skin on his person? It offered no advantageous. With every blow he took, it would only hasten his imminent demise. So why? He couldn't comprehend it at all. In the end, the man emerged victorious after fighting a seemingly hopeless battle. Much to the delight of his fans. 'Monster Armor IV', they chanted.. Four? This wasn't the first time? He wasn't the first one?

He wasn't sure what compelled him to step into that caged ring once again. Maybe he was just annoyed? He certainly was. But it didn't quite feel like that was it. Whatever the case, Blade now stood before this 'Monster Armor', with sword in hand. The tip of the cracked blade pointed directly at the man, a clear sign of a challenge being issued.

A challenge that had surprisingly been accepted.

Was he a fool? Or simply deluded? There was only one way this could go. And yet, the man seemed determined to see it through. No, not just that. He seemed determined to defeat Blade. He couldn't understand. He just couldn't--

The ensuing fight did not even last a minute. The armor the man wore was shattered like glass beneath the weight of his strikes, thus freeing him from the deadly prison he had willingly encased himself in. But not freeing him from the effects that were already ravaging his body. There was no way he would last long. Maybe a year or two, if he was being generous. And assuming he did not hasten the process by overtaxing himself even further.

Maybe that was why he did what he did next. The contest did not end with the sound of steel meeting flesh. But with the sounds of bones snapping under extreme pressure. A sound that only gave the crowd around them some pause, but not enough to completely turn them off from the looks of it. Both of the man's arms had gone limp when Blade was through with them. Not just simple dislocation, no. He had made certain to break whatever he could, to ensure that he would never pick up a weapon again.

This way, he could at least waste away naturally, instead of further destroying himself in a meaningless fashion. But given Blade's own outlook on death, was this an act of kindness? Or malice?

Even he was left pondering on it all once he left the Fight Club. So many questions still raging through his mind. And he couldn't just push them aside and forget about them. That was when he confronted him again. Scott, the owner. He had half expected some angry ranting about costing him one of his star attractions or some such nonsense. Perhaps even justifiable rage on the man's behalf. Maybe he even cared about him, in some way.

'Hmph. You really did a number on Monster Armor IV, huh? And just when he was getting close to reaching his 20th win. Oh well, sometimes the crowd enjoys seeing the underdog fall just short too. But destroying the armor was too much!'

❝ ... What? ❞

'Do you have any idea how much trouble I had to go through to get that?! It's going to take a while before we can debut Monster Armor V now! Bah.. Well, what's done is done. Here's some compensation for putting on a show, at least. It would have been more, but I have to make up for the damages you've caused to my business somehow.'

.. So that was it. This was what his mind was struggling to comprehend? Despite having maintained a mostly stoic demeanor so far, Blade soon finds himself.. Smiling. And then laughing. A laughter that seemed almost uncharacteristic of him to anyone who didn't know him well enough. That man's meaningless struggle. His inexplicable actions in donning that monstrosity. It was all too satisfy this cretin? Purely for his monetary gain??

If this was a joke, it wasn't amusing in the slightest. And yet, he couldn't stop the laughter that erupted from him in such a volume that onlookers were now staring at the two in confusion.

'What the... What the hell is wrong with you? Do you have a screw loose or somethi--'

❝ Silence. ❞

The reply came in such a sharp tone that it caused Scott to almost wince in response. No, he did, in fact, wince. But not from that. Rather, from the fact that a hand had somehow found itself forced over the bottom half of his face. Fingers gripped onto his chin harshly while the palm of Blade's hand made certain to cover this little devil's mouth entirely.

❝ No more. I don't want to hear another word from that pile of filth you call a mouth. To think I wasted my time entertaining a degenerate like you.. ❞

By now it was clear to the onlookers that something was amiss. Even moreso when a sword materialized in Blade's free hand. A few of them looked on in worry and confusion. A smaller number of them screamed. Someone mentions looking for help. Another suggests calling 'Wildfire'. All useless noise. He drowns them all out while focusing his attention on the source of his ire.

❝ Someone who cannot comprehend the sanctity of life has no right to take it so callously. And to do so without having the decency to dirty your own hands. Vermin. You pathetic little rodent. I would sooner spare this world the misfortune of your existence than listen to anything else you have to say. ❞

The edge of the blade inches upwards, before ultimately pressing against the sniveling rodent's throat. Oh, he knew what would transpire all too well. The final moments of a coward, praying to every god he did not even believe in to spare him. To give him another chance at life. Undoubtedly some empty promise to change his ways that he would never truly hold himself to. He'd bask in it for a moment longer before drawing the curtain on his life. After all, he deserved something for the time he'd wasted so far.

But something causes the sadistic smile on his face to falter slightly. There's a look in the man's eyes. A pleading look that was far from pathetic or insincere. Desperation. A desire to live, but not for himself. Did he.. Did he have someone he cared for? For a moment, he felt as though he was looking into the eyes of friends from the past. Soldiers who'd fallen in the line of duty, never to see their loved ones again. That regret in their eyes that they would never be able to tell them they loved them just one final time..

No. Absolutely not. Not for this vermin. Someone so pathetic and callous did not deserve to be capable of such emotions! With a swift motion, the sword slices through the unfeeling coward's throat. A fresh spurt of blood stains the left side of Blade's face, though his bangs prevent any of it from touching his eyes. He unhands Scott and watches him fall to the floor, grasping at his neck with one hand while scraping at the ground with the other. He sputters, tears streaming down his face and scrambling aimlessly. Reaching for something, anything. A last second survival instinct of a creature that was on the brink of death.

He couldn't enjoy it as much as he thought he would. That last glance had tainted a moment of catharsis. Pointless. All of this had been pointless. Blade turns around to leave the scene, but comes face to face with an unexpected face. A man who could barely even stand, clutching a shoddy weapon in a hand he could barely even move. With an arm he could barely even move. The man beneath the Monster Armor. Did he seriously come here to try to save this piece of filth?

No. There was no hatred in his eyes. Only concern. Scott's passing likely hadn't impacted him in any way. But all the man could see was a lunatic who'd just killed someone in broad view of everyone. For all he knew, he could turn his blade on someone else at a moment's notice. So here he was. Playing the hero to save as many lives as he could, even at the expense of his own. How did someone like this come to work for such a contemptible bastard?

.. It didn't matter. He was dead anyway. Knowing what he knew of the man's circumstances now, perhaps leaving him to rot was not the right choice after all. Blade begins to advance slowly, his sword prepared to claim the life of yet another.

❝ Consider this an act of Mercy. You won't be long for this world anyway. At the very least, I'll give you a swift and dignified e-- ❞

At that moment, the world goes red. Then white, momentarily black, and red again. It takes him a moment to process what had just happened. His ears were ringing. So much so that he couldn't even hear a thing happening around him. And he was.. Why was he looking up towards the ceiling overhead? He.. Fell? When? When he begins to sit up, a sharp pain shoots throughout his abdomen. The kind of pain that makes a man wish they were dead.

Ah.. A part of his torso was missing.

Someone had come up behind him the moment he was about to strike down the injured man. A woman, brandishing some kind of weapon. She probably didn't waste a single second before pulling the trigger and blasting him where he stood. Impressive on the spot decision making, given she probably hadn't been given enough time to properly survey the scene. If she'd waited a second longer, he would have undoubtedly killed the other man.

She was saying something, but he couldn't make out the words. More people were converging on the spot, all brandishing weapons. Allies of hers? They must have been part of the peacekeeping force overseeing the underground then. Looks as though he's overstayed his welcome. Luckily for him, no one would have expected someone with their innards practically spilling out to stand up the way he did. That made it a simple task for him to elude them with his superior speed.

He kept going until he could no longer see a single living being around him. Only then did his body finally collapse from the severity of his injuries. He was at death's door. But that was obvious to anyone with a functioning pair of eyes. He had practically bled out by the time his vision started to blur. And as the last of his life force finally left him.. He laughed.

❝ Well.. That was eventful. ❞

This was a view he had grown accustomed to. Those dangerous pair of pink eyes gazing right at him as the world came into focus. A groan passes through his lips at the uncomfortable feeling of flesh and bone reconstructing itself inside of his body. On the surface, nothing was a miss. But internally he was still kind of a mess. He'd be fine in another minute or two, though.

'Running off to get gunned down by some mysterious cutie? Well, aren't you romantic.'

Kafka's teasing was as unbearable as always. Blade simply stared up at her, expression devoid of emotion as he replied with a simple:

❝ So it's time to move on, then? ❞

'Yep. Elio just sent us the new script. And you've got somewhere to be reaaaal soon.. For a reunion with some old friends.'

Those last few words cause a shift in his expression. And for the second time since coming here, Blade brings himself to smile. A smile of genuine anticipation.

❝ It's about time. ❞

Welp, now I have an excuse to reread the fic for the nth time to find foreshadowing and potential theories.(totally not to induldge myself to another reread) Going back to what you said about Voldemort trying to have a relationship with Draco that mirrors Harry and Dumbledore,(which really isn’t healthy due to both of their traumas and also because it’s a time of war and Dumbledore is morally grey) does Voldemort see Draco in this fic as a potential ally like how Dumbledore sees Harry as a potential pawn? Assuming that he doesn’t know of Draco’s memories, what benefits does he see with allying with Draco or at the very least using him? Also honestly, we can’t really blame Draco too much for only seeing his mother as a sort of comic relief with terrible cooking, like dude had a pretty bad mother in his previous life. At least this one will literally risk her life for your well being. In fact, I’m betting my money that perhaps Narcissa’s overprotective mama bear tendencies are going to be even more ferocious than it was in the books since Draco actually died in this timeline. She ain’t going to lose her boy again.

On the topic of Draco’s wasted potential, your portrayal of Draco in your fic feels like a refresher. Right now I just rewatched Avatar the Last Airbender and I think one of the things I love the most about this series is that the writers were completely fair about each nation. They showed all their best and worst qualities, which I think J.K Rowling failed horribly in that regard. She so clearly favored the Gryffindors, neglected the Ravenclaws and Hufflepuffs, and mostly vilified the Slytherins. Sure we have lots of morally grey Slytherins, but come on. Can’t we have an actually decent hero that just so happen to be Slytherin? Ambition and cunningness aren’t always bad traits. There’s this one character from a manhua I read a while back called Trash of the Count’s family. He’s ambitious in the way that he works extremely hard to protect his homeland in order to live a true slacker life, but he’s also super cunning. To name a few things he’s done without context, he steals a dragon from a cult by disguising himself and his mini crew as members of a cult, scams multiple nobles for shits and giggles, breaks and enters the bases of the main antagonist of the story, and blows up several islands, just to name a few. He’s super Slytherin-coded.

I’m honestly so excited for Neville, Luna, Cho, Sirius, Remus, and Cedic. Neville and Luna are two of my favorite characters because I just love introverted outcast characters, Cedric because he’s best boy and could potentially add drama to the story, and Cho because I’m very curious what her role will be in Harry’s love life. With Sirius having his name cleared and a very handy ally for Draco and Harry, I’m very curious as to how things will turn out, especially since I do ship Wolfstar.(as a potential ship not canon)

Now that you’ve pointed it out, both Draco and Voldemort are really powerful wizards who have extensive knowledge of both the magical and muggle world. Maybe Draco could trigger any WWII flashbacks or something lmao and be like “Hey Tom! Riddle me this!” [insert some magical nuke] I honestly kind of feel bad for Lockhart, but hey at least he wouldn’t be lying if he bragged about slaying a magical beast this time.

Oof poor Harry. I literally forgot about the time setting of this story, plus I’m sure that the Dursley’s weren’t exactly the most LGBTQ+ friendly family. If he starts crushing on Draco though during the fourth/fifth book, any potential plots with Cedric and Cho would be pretty interesting ngl and also perhaps Draco doesn’t seem to be helping either because he keeps on trying to take a peek at Harry’s love life.(cuz dude probs wanted to be Harry’s wingman, not realizing that he’s the very guy Harry is trying to wing in)

In terms of potential, I'm not quite sure. My first thought was Draco (Duh) mostly because I wish so badly that they kept the scene in the final movie where he threw his wand to Harry. That alone would probably do so much for his character, and I am very likely going to do something with it in the fic. Plus the whole really weird hug with Voldy thing, kinda seems like Voldy is trying to have a relationship with him that parallels Harry and Dumbledore's. Anyway, Draco's SO uncomfortable all the time in 7th, it makes me very excited to get to it :) I also think Narcissa is pretty interesting since she kinda parallels Lily, and the fact she lied to the Dark Lord TO HIS FACE and protected Harry...I know I make Narcissa out to be just a very overbearing mother (and bad cook) but I hope to make Draco see the other sides to her later on, when he gets his head out of his ass. For now, she's sort of just comic relief, but there are some things set up in the very first years that will come back in the later years.

(also i REALLY need to add neville in some more--thematically he's super important, but he just doesn't get that much screen time yet. I'll have to think more about how to integrate him, but definitely he will appear more in 3rd w/ other characters. Other characters I plan to include are Cedric, Luna, maybe Cho? Marietta, probably, for the whole traitor thing in the 5th book, and ofc Pansy and Zabini, though those two are the flattest in the books so I'm gonna have to make up a lot of stuff lol. gotta add in sirius obvs [he's actually my favorite, which was why he was not-malfoy's fave in the old version], and remus [also we gotta discuss the werewolf in the room, with the whole snape prank thing...])

Draco would probably blackmail Lockhart into taking the gun and shooting Umbridge twice. He isn't stupid enough to try to kill Voldemort with a gun (are the horcruxes around in this hypothetical?also Voldy lived in like. WWII? Although he's ignorant of love magic stuff, he is probably deeply aware of the dangers of Muggle weapons, which maybe relates to his desire to conquer them) but Draco would love Umbridge dead, and he'd want more blackmail on Lockhart lol. The man's main fear is losing his reputation so that's probably a better punishment than death. If it's sixth year Draco he might just shoot himself though

I have mentioned that Draco doesn't want to date as a minor or date minors even if physically the same age due to the weird age gap/time question thing (a really big issue in isekai/transmigration imo, and the bit of this fic that makes me want to just make it platonic--seriously. I read one where this grown man DATED A SEVEN YEAR OLD B/C HE WAS IN A CHILD'S BODY??) but Harry will obviously not be thinking about that since for all he knows, they're both normal kids. You can probably safely assume he starts thinking of romance at the same time as in the books, though obviously his friendship w/ Draco and the whole "it's the nineties and I think I'm gay?!" thing would make him not as proactive about it for a while

How Did you come up with the first eve in the story about adams wives? I haven’t been able to find anything about her after I read it and I want to know if she’s an actual biblical character or just someone you made

She's from the Midrash. I learned about her as a 12 year old, from my barmitzvah teacher. There was a point in there, long after I'd put her into Sandman, where I was starting to think I'd imagined her, when I ran across her in Robert Graves's Hebrew Myths....

Chapter 10: Adam's Helpmeets

(a) Having decided to give Adam a helpmeet lest he should be alone of his kind, God put him into a deep sleep, removed one of his ribs, formed it into a woman, and closed up the wound, Adam awoke and said: 'This being shall be named "Woman", because she has been taken out of man. A man and a woman shall be one flesh.' The title he gave her was Eve, 'the Mother of All Living''. [1]

(b) Some say that God created man and woman in His own image on the Sixth Day, giving them charge over the world; [2]  but that Eve did not yet exist. Now, God had set Adam to name every beast, bird and other living thing. When they passed before him in pairs, male and female, Adam-being already like a twenty-year-old man-felt jealous of their loves, and though he tried coupling with each female in turn, found no satisfaction in the act. He therefore cried: 'Every creature but I has a proper mate', and prayed God would remedy this injustice. [3]

(c) God then formed Lilith, the first woman, just as He had formed Adam, except that He used filth and sediment instead of pure dust. From Adam's union with this demoness, and with another like her named Naamah, Tubal Cain's sister, sprang Asmodeus and innumerable demons that still plague mankind. Many generations later, Lilith and Naamah came to Solomon's judgement seat, disguised as harlots of Jerusalem'. [4]

(d) Adam and Lilith never found peace together; for when he wished to lie with her, she took offence at the recumbent posture he demanded. 'Why must I lie beneath you?' she asked. 'I also was made from dust, and am therefore your equal.' Because Adam tried to compel her obedience by force, Lilith, in a rage, uttered the magic name of God, rose into the air and left him.

Adam complained to God: 'I have been deserted by my helpmeet' God at once sent the angels Senoy, Sansenoy and Semangelof to fetch Lilith back. They found her beside the Red Sea, a region abounding in lascivious demons, to whom she bore lilim at the rate of more than one hundred a day. 'Return to Adam without delay,' the angels said, `or we will drown you!' Lilith asked: `How can I return to Adam and live like an honest housewife, after my stay beside the Red Sea?? 'It will be death to refuse!' they answered. `How can I die,' Lilith asked again, `when God has ordered me to take charge of all newborn children: boys up to the eighth day of life, that of circumcision; girls up to the twentieth day. None the less, if ever I see your three names or likenesses displayed in an amulet above a newborn child, I promise to spare it.' To this they agreed; but God punished Lilith by making one hundred of her demon children perish daily; [5] and if she could not destroy a human infant, because of the angelic amulet, she would spitefully turn against her own. (e) Some say that Lilith ruled as queen in Zmargad, and again in Sheba; and was the demoness who destroyed job's sons. [7] Yet she escaped the curse of death which overtook Adam, since they had parted long before the Fall. Lilith and Naamah not only strangle infants but also seduce dreaming men, any one of whom, sleeping alone, may become their victim. [8]

(f) Undismayed by His failure to give Adam a suitable helpmeet, God tried again, and let him watch while he built up a woman's anatomy: using bones, tissues, muscles, blood and glandular secretions, then covering the whole with skin and adding tufts of hair in places. The sight caused Adam such disgust that even when this woman, the First Eve, stood there in her full beauty, he felt an invincible repugnance. God knew that He had failed once more, and took the First Eve away. Where she went, nobody knows for certain. [9]

(g) God tried a third time, and acted more circumspectly. Having taken a rib from Adam's side in his sleep, He formed it into a woman; then plaited her hair and adorned her, like a bride, with twenty-four pieces of jewellery, before waking him. Adam was entranced. [10]

(h) Some say that God created Eve not from Adam's rib, but from a tail ending in a sting which had been part of his body. God cut this off, and the stump-now a useless coccyx-is still carried by Adam's descendants. [11]

(i) Others say that God's original thought had been to create two human beings, male and female; but instead He designed a single one with a male face looking forward, and a female face looking back. Again He changed His mind, removed Adam's backward-looking face, and built a woman's body for it. [12]

(j) Still others hold that Adam was originally created as an androgyne of male and female bodies joined back to back. Since this posture made locomotion difficult, and conversation awkward, God divided the androgyne and gave each half a new rear. These separate beings He placed in Eden, forbidding them to couple. Authors’ Comments on the Myth:

1. The tradition that man's first sexual intercourse was with animals, not women, may be due to the widely spread practice of bestiality among herdsmen of the Middle East, which is still condoned by custom, although figuring three times in the Pentateuch as a capital crime. In the Akkadian Gilgamesh Epic, Enkidu is said to have lived with gazelles and jostled other wild beasts at the watering place, until civilized by Aruru's priestess. Having enjoyed her embraces for six days and seven nights, he wished to rejoin the wild beasts but, to his surprise, they fled from him. Enkidu then knew that he had gained understanding, and the priestess said: 'Thou art wise, Enkidu, like unto a godl'

2. Primeval man was held by the Babylonians to have been androgynous. Thus the Gilgamesh Epic gives Enkidu androgynous features: `the hair of his head like a woman's, with locks that sprout like those of Nisaba, the Grain-goddess.' The Hebrew tradition evidently derives from Greek sources, because both terms used in a Tannaitic midrash to describe the bisexual Adam are Greek: androgynos, 'man-woman', and diprosopon, 'twofaced'. Philo of Alexandria, the Hellenistic philosopher and commentator on the Bible, contemporary with Jesus, held that man was at first bisexual; so did the Gnostics. This belief is clearly borrowed from Plato. Yet the myth of two bodies placed back to back may well have been founded on observation of Siamese twins, which are sometimes joined in this awkward manner. The two-faced Adam appears to be a fancy derived from coins or statues of Janus, the Roman New Year god.

3. Divergences between the Creation myths of Genesis r and n, which allow Lilith to be presumed as Adam's first mate, result from a careless weaving together of an early Judaean and a late priestly tradition. The older version contains the rib incident. Lilith typifies the Anath-worshipping Canaanite women, who were permitted pre-nuptial promiscuity. Time after time the prophets denounced Israelite women for following Canaanite practices; at first, apparently, with the priests' approval-since their habit of dedicating to God the fees thus earned is expressly forbidden in Deuteronomy xxIII. I8. Lilith's flight to the Red Sea recalls the ancient Hebrew view that water attracts demons. 'Tortured and rebellious demons' also found safe harbourage in Egypt. Thus Asmodeus, who had strangled Sarah's first six husbands, fled 'to the uttermost parts of Egypt' (Tobit viii. 3), when Tobias burned the heart and liver of a fish on their wedding night.

4. Lilith's bargain with the angels has its ritual counterpart in an apotropaic rite once performed in many Jewish communities. To protect the newborn child against Lilith-and especially a male, until he could be permanently safeguarded by circumcision-a ring was drawn with natron, or charcoal, on the wall of the birthroom, and inside it were written the words: 'Adam and Eve. Out, Lilith!' Also the names Senoy, Sansenoy and Semangelof (meanings uncertain) were inscribed on the door. If Lilith nevertheless succeeded in approaching the child and fondling him, he would laugh in his sleep. To avert danger, it was held wise to strike the sleeping child's lips with one finger-whereupon Lilith would vanish.

5. 'Lilith' is usually derived from the Babylonian-Assyrian word lilitu, ,a female demon, or wind-spirit'-one of a triad mentioned in Babylonian spells. But she appears earlier as 'Lillake' on a 2000 B.G. Sumerian tablet from Ur containing the tale of Gilgamesh and the Willow Tree. There she is a demoness dwelling in the trunk of a willow-tree tended by the Goddess Inanna (Anath) on the banks of the Euphrates. Popular Hebrew etymology seems to have derived 'Lilith' from layil, 'night'; and she therefore often appears as a hairy night-monster, as she also does in Arabian folklore. Solomon suspected the Queen of Sheba of being Lilith, because she had hairy legs. His judgement on the two harlots is recorded in I Kings III. 16 ff. According to Isaiah xxxiv. I4-I5, Lilith dwells among the desolate ruins in the Edomite Desert where satyrs (se'ir), reems, pelicans, owls, jackals, ostriches, arrow-snakes and kites keep her company.

6. Lilith's children are called lilim. In the Targum Yerushalmi, the priestly blessing of Numbers vi. 26 becomes: 'The Lord bless thee in all thy doings, and preserve thee from the Lilim!' The fourth-century A.D. commentator Hieronymus identified Lilith with the Greek Lamia, a Libyan queen deserted by Zeus, whom his wife Hera robbed of her children. She took revenge by robbing other women of theirs.

7. The Lamiae, who seduced sleeping men, sucked their blood and ate their flesh, as Lilith and her fellow-demonesses did, were also known as Empusae, 'forcers-in'; or Mormolyceia, 'frightening wolves'; and described as 'Children of Hecate'. A Hellenistic relief shows a naked Lamia straddling a traveller asleep on his back. It is characteristic of civilizations where women are treated as chattels that they must adopt the recumbent posture during intercourse, which Lilith refused. That Greek witches who worshipped Hecate favoured the superior posture, we know from Apuleius; and it occurs in early Sumerian representations of the sexual act, though not in the Hittite. Malinowski writes that Melanesian girls ridicule what they call `the missionary position', which demands that they should lie passive and recumbent.

8. Naamah, 'pleasant', is explained as meaning that 'the demoness sang pleasant songs to idols'. Zmargad suggest smaragdos, the semi-precious aquamarine; and may therefore be her submarine dwelling. A demon named Smaragos occurs in the Homeric Epigrams.

9. Eve's creation by God from Adam's rib-a myth establishing male supremacy and disguising Eve's divinity-lacks parallels in Mediterranean or early Middle-Eastern myth. The story perhaps derives iconotropically from an ancient relief, or painting, which showed the naked Goddess Anath poised in the air, watching her lover Mot murder his twin Aliyan; Mot (mistaken by the mythographer for Yahweh) was driving a curved dagger under Aliyan's fifth rib, not removing a sixth one. The familiar story is helped by a hidden pun on tsela, the Hebrew for 'rib': Eve, though designed to be Adam's helpmeet, proved to be a tsela, a 'stumbling', or 'misfortune'. Eve's formation from Adam's tail is an even more damaging myth; perhaps suggested by the birth of a child with a vestigial tail instead of a coccyx-a not infrequent occurrence.

10. The story of Lilith's escape to the East and of Adam's subsequent marriage to Eve may, however, record an early historical incident: nomad herdsmen, admitted into Lilith's Canaanite queendom as guests (see 16. 1), suddenly seize power and, when the royal household thereupon flees, occupy a second queendom which owes allegiance to the Hittite Goddess Heba.

The meaning of 'Eve' is disputed. Hawwah is explained in Genesis III. 20 as 'mother of all living'; but this may well be a Hebraicized form of the divine name Heba, Hebat, Khebat or Khiba. This goddess, wife of the Hittite Storm-god, is shown riding a lion in a rock-sculpture at Hattusaswhich equates her with Anath-and appears as a form of Ishtar in Hurrian texts. She was worshipped at Jerusalem (see 27. 6). Her Greek name was Hebe, Heracles's goddess-wife.

Love your transmasc retelling tag, and wanted to at least offer a concept since I can't get the words out myself, I feel Beauty and the Beast has some serious potential for it.

Also I did in fact rewatch the animated Beauty and the Beast for you, anon. I probably didn’t have to but I sure did. I also spent an unexpected amount of time on this because my brain is broken.

We have a woman, Belle, who's love interests are a very typical patriarchal man (white and cishet) and a being that can barely being considered human, never mind a man. The Beast is clearly masculine, but in an foreign, monstrous way (kind of like Hyde in @transmascrage's interpretation of Jekyll & Hyde). He's hairy and enormous and raging, almost like a parody of masculinity, while not being able to achieve the humanity and social approval of a man like Gaston (who literally has an entire song devoted to just how perfect his masculinity is). He's only capable of going through the general motions of a prince; when he first meet him, he isn’t even wearing proper clothes. He's only pretending to be a prince. The movie asks the question "Who could ever love a Beast?", which can be seen as "Who could ever love such a monstrous creature pretending to be a man?"

Belle, herself, is not a "typical woman"- she's different from all the other women in the town. She has an "unfeminine" hobby, and while not being outright despised, is viewed as extremely odd by the town. Gaston is interested in her for her physical beauty, but she is not interested in him at all. She could be seen as a closeted transmasc person and/or one who is feminine, who is perceived by others as a "strange girl" who's beauty is going to waste because of her lack of interest in a patriarchal, cishet man. She isn't disliked but she isn't "a part of any crowd". She spends all her time dreaming of what she could be, including "a prince in disguise", not interested in the physical world she is stuck in. Belle is desperate not only for a different life, but for someone who can understand her desires and make her feel less alone in society,

And eventually, she comes to a shadowy castle in the woods– a castle that has been abandoned and forgotten by society, so she would have no idea it even existed. 

In it, she meets the Beast, who as I said, shows the extremes of toxic masculinity. Gaston demands Belle be his wife through coercion, but the Beast makes her promise to stay with him forever. However, there is clearly a difference between them. The Beast is putting on his rage more than Gaston; he clearly wants to connect with Belle, but isn’t sure how and, lacking any other way of interacting, chooses anger to hide this fear. He compares himself to Belle; she is beautiful and perfect, and the Beast is… a beast.

When he saves her from the wolves, he shows the first trait of positive masculinity; he is selfless in defending Belle at personal cost to himself. Belle and him have their first real conversation as she helps him recover, and their relationship is able to actually begin. Later, the Beast eagerly shows her the library as a gift, once again showing he is genuinely interested in her and her interests (gift-giving to feminine partners is often seen in butch/femme dynamics). The Beast begins to win her over by letting himself be soft, and kind, and he realizes that someone is willing to treat him softly and kindly and not revile him as a monster. Belle is self-assured in her strangeness and this allows the Beast to become more comfortable in his. This is contrasted with Gaston planning to force Belle into marriage by institutionalizing her father, using ableism/ageism and the patriarchy to “win her over”.

The most important moment that the Beast shows positive masculinity is when he lets Belle go save her father, and gives her the mirror. He does what Gaston would never do; freely lets Belle leave out of love and respect. 

The Beast, as a threat, is at first met with mockery by society. The Beast is viewed as a hilarious joke, not something to be taken seriously. But later, when Belle proves the Beast’s existence, the threat becomes very real – and very centered around the Beast as Gaston’s future wife’s kidnapper. Gaston encourages the villagers to believe that the Beast will steal their children and their wives, and he needs to kill it to protect Belle’s position as his future wife and mother to his children. Fearmongering leads the town to blindly hate the Beast, and lock up Belle and her father for their as delusional traitors. 

Gaston attacks the Beast, who does not resist the attempts to kill him. Gaston mocks him for being “too kind and gentle to fight back”. He ridicules him for daring to love Belle, asking him, “Did you honestly think she’d want you when she had someone like me?” Gaston views the Beast’s affection and his manhood as corrupt and undesirable. When the Beast proves his physical power over Gaston, he chooses not to kill him, once again choosing to embody positive masculinity instead of the toxic masculinity Gaston values. Ironically, Gaston’s decision to stab the Beast results in his death.

The Beast seems almost suicidal at the end, between him not resisting Gaston and first and saying “maybe it’s better this way” as he dies. Ultimately, of course, he is transformed into his human form, his ideal form. No longer a monster pretending to be a man, he is the man he always was internally (named Adam, after the first man). His transition into Adam was achieved by embracing the positive masculinity Belle encouraged and rejecting the toxic masculinity that was fueled by self-loathing.

TL;DR,  Beauty and the Beast can be viewed as a t4t love story about not letting yourself be defined by toxic masculinity. And it is surprisingly easy to get me to watch something if I can make it queer analysis, even if that thing is Beauty and the Beast (1991), a movie I have barely ever thought about and have seen maybe once before.
