had the idea of adding the glyphs from the owl house onto my denim jacket so I taught myself embroidery and did this as a first project!

here's hoping I'm not gonna randomly glow/freeze/burn alive/have a plant grow out of my shoulder I guess?

they're all about 5 cm in diameter and I personally think the ice glyph came out a little wobbly but it was my first embroidery ever and the fabric on that part of the jacket is also a little wobbly so I'm happy with the result

the lovely yellow lighting in my room is biting me in the ass rn bc the yellow and green are a lot lighter irl and the blue and red are a bit more vibrant

the fire glyph was the last one! I believe there were like two and a half months between finishing the third glyph and starting this one oops (but also yay bc the weather was amazing this weekend so I did a large chunk of the fire glyph while sitting in the sun!)

and a picture of the shoulder while I'm wearing the jacket! though normally the position of the fire glyph falls a little less front-facing (which is great irl bc that way it looks more interesting from the side and back instead of just from the front)

Cassandra Cain's rebirthday

We've had one birthday, yes. But what about second birthday?

In Batgirl (2000) #33, Babs and Cass decide to celebrate Cass' birthday on the anniversary of the day that she became Batgirl.

Although in this same issue, David Cain reveals the anniversary of her birth falls on another date, January 26... ♒

...Cass still celebrates her new chosen birthday with her new chosen family.

In-universe, it looks like Cass became Batgirl in June-ish of the year-long "No Man's Land". She was given the mantle before the first day of summer (Detective Comics #735), which traditionally falls on June 21 in the USA. The "No Man's Land" timeline is famously resistant to sense, so the dates aren't certain. (Credit: JYD's Complete Guide to No Man's Land, and The Real Batman Chronology Project)

Cass became Batgirl in Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight #120, which—according to Mike's Amazing World—has a real-world copyright date of May 21, a market release date of June 2, and a cover date of August.

So if you missed @casscainweek 2025 back in January ♒, or if you're already wanting an encore, you could still celebrate Cass' rebirthday festivities on June 2, or maybe May 21. ♊

Fun facts:

in Chinese text slang, 520 and 521 mean "I love you"; 5/20 and 5/21 are lucky dates for love

June's birth flower is the rose, a recurring motif in Cass' original Batgirl (2000) run 🌹

I used to have a really hard time bringing up the fact that I graduated from high school a year late without feeling the need to explain why and insisting that it wasn't my fault while simultaneously kicking myself for how much I sounded like I was just making excuses for something I should take responsibility for.

Then I watched Dimension 20's "The Seven" and suddenly I could simply say that I was a super senior.

The first time I heard the phrase "super senior" was in reference to Antiope Jones, a Black girl who had been held back a year after getting kidnapped and imprisoned by members of a fundamentalist cult, and like, girl, same.

So, since then, instead of anxiously spinning out any time I tried to tell a personal high school anecdote, I could just say I was a super senior, and then my brain would auto complete that statement with "like Antiope Jones" and I'd feel good about myself because Antiope Jones Is That Bitch.

That's what the problem had been the whole time. I wasn't worried about how other people would perceive me; I had been struggling with how I perceived myself.

I love DrRetro, Pest and Bive as a trio SO MUCH guys

PEST is an individual who clearly doesn’t want to deepen his relationship with the people of the elevator (biggest example being Poob, who tries TOO MUCH). But there’s DrRetro, dialogue between her and Pest imply they are closer, and quite know each other from BEFORE (they is canon facts that DrRetro have busted Pest out of prison!). PEST IS MORE LOOSE WITH THE WAY HE TALKS WITH HER, IT’S SO SPECIAL TO ME

Bive might not be as canon awesomeness as I like to think. But in a moment where Pest needed someone to LISTEN about some ‘dream parasite’ he immediately came to her… he recognized her as an actual detective!!!!!!!!!! Canon information that Bive also doesn’t trust Pest, BUT UPON A COMMON ENEMY THEY GO AGAINST IT TOGETHER RAHAHEHHEGFHG

(I have been sitting here with a virtual piano website open for like, 30 minutes trying to plunk out the notes to make sure I'm even hearing this correctly and I'm still only like 70% sure BUT-)

Man, I love the fact that iirc throughout Epic Penelope's little leitmotif always ends on a note that's fully just like, not in the chord. Or at the very least it's a weird note for the chord under it. Her leitmotif caught my ear immediately on my first listen of Epic for that exact reason. It never quite fit the chord. It always felt a little out of place and was definitely a deliberate musical choice to sound that way that I couldn't quite pinpoint but you know, trust the process.

Then we get to WYFILWMA, and Penelope gets MAD that Odysseus would ever doubt her love for him. Because of COURSE he's still her husband. And she's been waiting, waiting, waiting. And Odysseus sings her leitmotif and the landing doesn't fit the chord whatsoever. It's still entirely out of place, not quite reaching home. Then he sings it again, transposed up a little bit, and oh shit it's would you look at that?

(I've always had trouble matching notes across octaves by ear, but I THINK in the last note for that instance of her leitmotif ends on the same note as the bass note in the chord (E) and I ~THINK~ Penelope's note is a 5th above his (B), which if I'm hearing that right very nice, give the newly reunited couple a Perfect 5th harmony, 10/10 and if I'm hearing that wrong then please, uh, disregard all that lmao)

It is correct/safe to say that if in few months since Costia died, Lexa and Clarke have developed (apparently) some feelings and a strong atracttion for each other, its because they felt something before? Not that they realized that in that time….

I think it’s safe to say they found each other attractive 🤔 both physically and emotionally. They have a sort of competitiveness and intensity to them they don’t have in the same way with other people, an appreciation for how the other works. To say it plainly, they just get each other, seem to wear the same type of weight on their shoulders. Weren’t afraid to call each other out or disagree. They understood each other so there was always a kinship there.

I would say in a way it was less “oh I’m super attracted to her” and more “oh I could be attracted to her…” and a baseline acknowledgment of “she’s exactly my type, but nothing is ever happening 🤷🏽‍♀️” that resulted in them automatically keeping a bit of a distance with each other, something they didn’t feel the need to do with anyone else (and also, at least in the case of one of them, compartmentalizing and trying not to ever think about it). Not necessarily because they let themselves consciously worry that it could develop into something, but because they could both sense something deeper there than was wise to explore. They were friends. Lexa and Costia were happy together, and that was that. Clarke was happy for them. That was how it had always been and they couldn’t imagine that changing.

I think that happens a lot in real life. People don’t magically stop being attracted to other people when they’re in a relationship; it just doesn’t matter, because you choose who you are with and you choose whether or not you let something grow where it shouldn’t. Choosing anything other than loyalty to Costia was never an option for either of them. It likely could and would have been much different, had Clexa somehow spent as much time with each other alone as they are now, but they didn’t.

But when you’re suddenly thrust together on a journey through life—when you’re both grieving together, both scared together, both healing together—well, things can change.

There’s a little more to it than that but for the sake of spoilers, I’ll leave it there ☺️
