there are maybe around 200-300 tyongfs mad at dy for doing dy track. i checked a few posts complaining and it’s all the same accounts interacting and retweeting. they hate dy no matter what he does so it’s whatever atp but i find their arguments against it simply… stupid? what dy is doing: putting on an exaggerated kpop rapper persona to make fun of himself for not being a great rapper, performing the opposite of his image, referencing a nickname that’s known within the fandom and has been a meme for a long time. what they see: plagiarism, stealing, unoriginal, callous, hurting ty’s feelings. it’s not like dy is claiming ty’s work as his own or parodying his diction, or even covering only his parts. or maybe they think ty’s branding is so weak it can be ruined by a concert-only special performance? and it’s very far from being a major part of dy’s image and musical identity. ik it all comes down to fans only seeing what they want to see and projecting their own feelings towards onto idols but the whole thing is kinda sad because it’s so stupid. it also sucks that neither doppus nor tyfs (both kfans and intl fans) can’t be normal about dy and ty’s relationships.

Yes, you see, you gave this situation a thought, those akgaes didn't. Don't try to "make it make sense", solo stans simply need a reason to make it about their bias, to get into some fanwars.

xfx's rule of blurring every pictures and videos of XZ and others is stupid. I know XZ has tons individual pictures, but sometimes, there are more beautiful pictures of him with other people. Hello Anon! Yeah, when I encountered this first it was weird but when I got to know the weifen ways lol then I understood. Like in the supertopic, If someone is there for Xiao Zhan — then they expect all the picture to be focused on him. Not other people. It doesn’t have to make absolute sense to everyone especially to us who are not immersed in this fan culture. However I can sort of understand where they are coming from. As a solo, you only like one person. That’s the focus. All the energy is for that person and their works.

It’s also important to note that solo fansites are a part of this. The photos they share are only of that one idol and blur out the others. BoXiao fansites do this too— just GG and Web and the rest are cut or blurred out. That’s why when it comes to us ( the fans online ) it’s already edited and we can’t really complain cause it’s given to us for free by this fan sites. and well, we shouldn’t. ✌🏼

Ya know the words of @rainbowsky as the wise eagle owl (as we would say in my country;) are true. It is not about the nice calm xfx, it is about the obsessive and toxic ones who seem to have conquered the online fandom world. The reason why I reblog this with high blood pressure is I just witnessed it again. Not on twt, on fb in a UT cast and bjyx group!(why I'm even in there?!). A toxic xfx or lets say anti was "educating" new TU fans about shippers, nasty ffs and the filthy yibo. A shitload of sentences full of the typical anti BS....I'm so sick of this because FB and yt are still social media platforms used by new fans and baby turtles to find content and other fans. I remember how these sh*t gave me a hard time as a new fan. And I don't get it. What is the intention of these people ? A personal crusade against shippers and DD? Why? I would ' understand ' it if this happens somewhere on chinese platforms. Then they are probably paid trolls but on fb in a random fangroup? Is it to release stress and fight against the mastermind and villain DD like in some cheesy movie? Safe the planet from shippers and their ffs? GG will never lose this damsel in distress image, will he? 😓

You must be new here, Anon. Otherwise you would know that I make it a policy not to post anti bullshit and lies on my blog.

Here's the thing - no matter how toxic and awful other fans are, those people stay in their own lane while many toxic XFX do not.

What do I mean by 'stay in your own lane'? Interact peacefully, and if you can't interact peacefully, stay out of BXG spaces. Stop posting in BXG hashtags. Stop posting harassing comments on BXG posts. Stop brigading BXG with harassing messages. Stop threatening to doxx and make BXG lives miserable.

I do not know a single BXG who is 'scared of DD's solos'. The idea is laughable. For the most part, they are easy to ignore and avoid. Yes, many of them are toxic and awful, but they keep those comments and that hate in their own spaces rather than push it out to BXG spaces. There are relatively few who try to cross over into our spaces to harass us.

By contrast, every single BXG I know is wary of toxic XFX because we've all experienced harassment from toxic XFX. We've all seen toxic XFX brigading BXG comment sections and filling our hashtags with hateful messages. Just go on Twitter or YouTube and see for yourself. I defy you to browse #yizhan or #bjyx and not find several toxic XFX posting anti-BXG hate under those hashtags.

I know you don't want that to be true. I don't want it to be true any more than you do. I want GG's fans to be respectful of his wishes and supportive of the guidance that he has given us. I want his fans to be kind like him. I want his fans to represent him in a positive light. More than anyone, including DD, GG deserves that after everything he's been through.

Here's where the problem lies, I think, for toxic XFX. You think people should be arguing online. You think attacking people is your duty, and the duty of every other fan, regardless of which camp they are in. You said as much in your message above. "Yibo fans in Twitter can attack and no BXG interferes."

You think it's our duty to defend and fight. It's not. Actually, it's our duty to stay out of fights. It's our duty to live and let live. GG himself has instructed us on this.

MTJJ are free to say whatever hateful shit they want within their own hashtags and spaces. So are XFX. Stay in your own lane.

When you cross over into our spaces to bully and harass us, we're going to notice. We are going to be upset. Hopefully we all block, ignore and report when appropriate rather than engage in arguments and fan wars, but we aren't stupid. We know who is invading our spaces with hate. Your reputation in this regard is earned.

I browsed through my Twitter block list the other day out of curiosity, and that says it all. Of 50-60 blocked accounts:

3 or 4 toxic BXG

5 or 6 toxic MTJJ

A few spam accounts

All of the rest are toxic XFX

Do those numbers represent the percentage of those fan groups that are toxic? Hell no. They only represent the percentage of toxic fans who cross over into BXG spaces. I don't bother blocking every toxic fan, because I don't need to. If they are staying in their own lane, I'll almost never encounter their hateful BS.

As I have said, every fan group, including BXG, are capable of being hateful and toxic. What makes it a problem is when that toxicity is exported to other fan spaces.

If you want to hate BXG, shit all over CP fans and gossip about how deluded and awful we are, I won't stop you. Feel free to say whatever you want about us, just have the courtesy to do so amongst yourselves rather than cross over into our spaces to harass us.

The problem isn't that you're toxic, the problem is that you are aggressive and harassing in our spaces.

If you want to prove me wrong, then be kind or at least peaceful. If you want to prove me wrong, then stop attacking us in our own spaces and stay in your own lane. If you want to prove me wrong, find positive ways to support GG rather than warring and harassing others. If you want to prove me wrong, follow GG's instructions. Here they are, in case you've forgotten:

Everyone has the right to like and hate. No matter if you like or hate, it should be respected and allowed in their own spaces.

This right should be based on rationality and not hurting other people. No matter what field or age, your personal likes and actions should not cross the line or go against that field's ethics or morals.

Even more, none of us should be represented by the label "XXX's fan."

Live a positive and healthy life.

Place more energy on your real life; less on the internet, the fighting, arguing and clashes behind a virtual ID, more on hard work and striving in real life.

We are against rebuking each other, we are against inciting conflict, against under-aged youths irrational consumer behavior and against any attempt to hurt others for whatever reason.

All the love should be positive and productive, hope that everyone can chase after their idols within reason.

Think calmly and don’t be disturbed by provocateurs and external factors that lead to war.

Avoid being provoked and used by others.

GG is not a child who needs protection.

These are all his own words and the words from statements released by his studio.

I myself preach the same thing to BXG all the time. Stay in your own lane. Don't engage in fan wars. Block and ignore, block and ignore, block and ignore. If everyone minds their own business, we could all peacefully co-exist. That's all any of us really wants.

And just to make it abundantly clear: I am talking about toxic XFX here, not ALL XFX. The vast majority of XFX are not like this. The vast majority keep to themselves and focus on supporting GG and doing good works in his name. I am talking here, about the toxic people who seem to think it's their solemn duty to harass and plague BXG in our own spaces.

If you aren't a toxic XFX, then awesome, we'll get along just fine by staying in our own lanes. If you are a toxic XFX, then I hope you'll do some reflection and soul-searching and realize what you are doing is disruptive and combative, harms GG, and goes against his oft-stated wishes.

And at the very least, I hope you will keep to your own spaces as GG specifically asked people to do in the statement he made on the anniversary of 22*7. I mean, anyone who can blithely ignore the wishes he stated on that day of all days - that is a special, industrial grade brand of shocking and appalling. How could such a person really say they love him and have his best interests at heart?

They surely obsess with turtles. Just few days ago I read from a bxg on twitter about a solo did a screenshot of her tweet. Funny thing is that toxic solo blocked her. It seems like stalking is one of their fav hobbies (even to someone they claimed to be toxic and blocked for that)

I'm moved by your words and couldn't agree more! I will add some words of my own experience below.

You touched a very important point, we all wish them to be happy and safe. For international turtles it seems hard to understand (on an emotional level) that it would be an nightmare if we would get what we desperately want: a proof like a pic, a video or a public confession. It would be the end of yizhan. Means : end of their careers and probably relationship. We need to step back and be happy with the little candies we get from time to time. Even if yizhan would be accepted in public, lets dace it we will never get so many details like we get of some Hollywood celebs (like "keeping up with the yizhans"?😄). Everything is fanfiction and it will remain as fanfiction. Almost everything happens in our minds. But this gives us the freedom to get creative ( fanart!) and to find satisfaction in our own imagination of DD and GG. This doesn't hurt anyone and it brings us joy. No one, no non_fan, no anti, no solofan or strunggling turtle should slander us for this. Like an old German song says: Thoughts are free...

When I stumbled over TU in April 2021 just right at the beginning of a deep depression (phase) and some other personal problems. I knew wangxian will be my new shit but I didn't expect yizhan hitting so hardly. The TU was my way of escaping from the shitty world. And also a boost to get creative again. Of course I only made contact with the negative+obsessive sides of yizhan at the beginning (yt, random reddit posts etc.). Luckily there were also nice people on yt and nice accounts on IG. I searched for all kinds of stuff about TU and yizhan on tumblr and used my very old tumblr account @cs-nane to spam all the poor BXG here ( sorry,not sorry). 😉 but the beginning was very hard for a young turtle, was hard experience his hate and to get independent and find the own way to BJYXSZD. I would never ever dreamed of so toxic people ( paid or not) only because of two men rumored to be dating! Finding your way thru this is really some kind of personal growth too! Look behind the infos, check the facts, discuss respectfully, be patient, judge neutrally, research on your own and so on.

Of course a new era started after creating a small chatgroup with @marazul-loveislove and @turtlelette .a safe space every turtle must have to talk endlessly about DD and GG. I guess now we feel like old calm turtles. To release all the yizhan crazyness I made this account here and on IG. 🤡

Now back to face the difficulties of life but always with a place in our hearts for two young chinese men 💚❤

YiZhan: love, fantasy and solidarity 🧡💛💚💙💜

I wrote in one of my post that “YiZhan is a powerful aesthetical image that we believe is encased in a love story surviving all odds.  Whatever happens in the future, lets be glad that at some point of our lives we believed that these two beautiful beings tried their best to create a unique blueprint of love that inspired us all and lighten our souls when we needed it the most. ”

Like many of you I stumbled on The Untamed during the lockdown.  I did not know what BL genre was and being an old school feminist, watching a bunch of boys running around, it is not my cup of tea.  So when the suggestion appeared in my Amazon Prime, I resisted until I run out of ideas regarding Chinese drama and got tired of the feeble roles that women are assigned in these productions  Please give me the warriors of Wakanda at any time but not these wishy washy female characters. I watched the Wolf before the Untamed.  Darren Wang got all my attention not the cute little prince/truant with a decent acting that finished in a ridiculous pairing whose name I not even bother to learn.  So that day that in my boredom desperation, I clicked in the image of the two young men, one in white, one in black.  I recognised the cute boy of the Wolf but in a glamour/gothic version which make it a total revelation: he was indeed astonishing beautiful. Suddenly, I noticed the boy in white resembling an angel whose pain to see the glamour/gothic boy falling in the abysm brought tears to my eyes. I stayed with them, the rest of people jumping screaming including JC washed away from me and I must confess, they always have done.

I became a total WangXian addict.  I was enraged with the last images of not bringing the lovers together in one frame.  Later I understood the fear to the homophobia of the Chinese censorship but I was glad to know that the Japanese version respected the original cut of the film.  Yes, The Untamed finished with both of them together in the waterfall  smiling at each other.

My WanXian thirst did not stop with reading the novel so I went down the route to watch the bts, so far I did not know that a YiZhan world existed and I was astonished at what I was watching. I started to enquire about the actors and about those images. I asked Chinese people is this is normal behaviour among boys, the answer was always “no it is not”.  Of course then I learnt that there are solo fans who are haters and/or homophobic and detest this narrative and they would say, they behave like that with everybody, it is their k-pop behaviour (being both in boy bands), it is fan service, it is character bleed as if WWX and LWJ would have behave like XZ and WY did between takes! nothing more distant from their characters;   and the worst of course:  there is nothing sexual/romantic about it.  What could be more homophobic that being blind to the attraction between two men?. More than two years down the line there has been plenty of evidence that YiZhan exists and Chinese turtles have gone to great length to keep the flame alive.  While there is not “that photo” of them holding hands (that cannot happen if we want them in c-ent),  there is plenty of other hints. The strongest are the ones given by themselves.

Yes, I recognise, being a YiZhan member of the “congregation” requires faith, to believe what we do not see. It is an inner conviction.  For me that conviction has developed  into solidarity:  more important that having evidence that they are together is that they are safe and well.  They deserve to be happy and live in better circumstances that they are living now.  

In the YiZhan world fan art is fundamental, we project our feelings, we imagine the life that maybe they could be living behind closed doors.  We fill the gaps of our fantasies with what the Yizhan artists do and we feed each other that fantasy.  In this post, I include a little contribution from the youngest member of my  family Ale, image below.  She is the one I convince to do the video on Lay me down that I posted before because it is one my favourite songs that GG sang to DD in set. I include the link to that post too.

Like many of you,  I would always be grateful to these beautiful men, and the YiZhan universe.  I met lovely, sensitive and smart people through our common “faith” some of them have became friends for life and they have virtually hold my hand in the most difficult moments of my life. Since the lockdown started I lost my lovely cat, ended my long term relationship and lost my beloved father without being able to be by his side.  My heart is broken but when life gets too much I watch The Untamed to see  WWX and LWJ falling for each other once more, I watch the bts, every vid so I can laugh my head off with GG/DD shenanigans again and I reach to my friends in the distance so we can talk more YiZhan and we can cheer each other with the warm words of friendship.

oh, heated up discussion. As a (still) new turtle and CQL-fan I understand both sides and @theji made a very good point: it´s not about forgetting.

Yes, the guys should be respected and praised for all their works. It would reduce their abilities when we only talk about CQL. However, I would ask for some indulgence. As has already been said, there are always new fans coming in - that's very good - who are looking for a fan community and content. Let them have this new home with fanart, gif, theories, metanalysis, BTS...etc. Because nothing is worse when you've been so touched by something and you can't find anything about it or no one talks to you (virtually). These fans easily can get caught by antis or mean solofans (I experienced this too). And wouldn´t it be a reduction of DDs and GGs abilities to forget CQL, where they acted so great?

Also the BTS are still essential in my opinion, because they still show us the most of the Yizhan Magic. I think a short note, reply back, disclaimer etc. could reduce the anon questions about CQL a bit, so the big tumblr blogs can focus on the current work of GG and DD without always having to address CQL questions.

I also think everyone handles it differently. CQL means something different to everyone, so I thought the anon's question/statement was a bit harsh.

The important thing is not to turn new fans down because when you discover CQL freshly your heart is overflowing with emotions and impressions. It's not easy to understand that other fans COULD MOVE ON from it...like what, how?! Trust me, I had this feeling. :D But with the CQL experience, you grow. You change with every rewatch, CQL adaptation and the more you get into Yizhan, your perception and interest changes. Just takes time and is an individual journey. And sometimes CQL is going away and then coming back to you, just like you need it in your life.

So I think it's important not to reduce or negate the fan-content of CQL. By the way, 3 or 2 years is not much for a series. Ok, after 10 years, you can say: move on :) Just let it be. There will be a new wave of fans anyway, now that CQL will be on Amazon Prime. Let's be a family that also welcomes new fans and understands their emotions and questions. Discussions about CQL should also be possible and welcome, because you always discover something new or get creative yourself through CQL (Rewatch). If some doesn't like that we can talk and everyone find it´s space for metas and discussions. The important thing is not to be too attached to this time, but also to look at the current life of GG and DD. I´m sure many fans are just like that!

The recently released video by XZ (2 year Studio XZ anniversary or annual anniversary) has simply caused confusion and simple misunderstanding among fans. Many are worried and frustrated because CQL can't get the fat media appreciation like it should get and like DD's and GG's other dramas (ya know because of fanwars). They can't remember CQL anniversaries or do stuff together like the untamed boys still do. I doubt that so many fans see a conspiracy in this and that everyone always wants to connect everything with CQL. Mhh, maybe some do so. But I don't know many fans, only know intelligent and rational ones (😘@47marazul)

Do we really need to always look back to CQL everytime we talk about Web & XZ? CQL is an old news. We have more interesting and much better contents now. Why bother to always go back to it?

Web has Louyang to look forward to. It looks great. The costumes, the visual, the detective-libe story looks so promising Let's not forget Being A Hero, a very challenging role for him. And of course SDOC4 where we can see Web looks so relax and happy aside from DDU.

XZ has Oath of Love and The Longest Promise to look forward to. These two are FAR FAR SUPERIOR and more recognized literature works than CQL. Read the novels and you'll see how amazing the romance in these 2 are. Easily the best romance stories (perfect) for XZ. Then ADLD which shows his amazing range as an actor. Very challenging since it's a stage play with a very long running time. We still have Ace of Troops too which we have no news about it.

Do we really need to go back when they themselves have move on? We need to move on too.

It's funny, I was just saying a lot of similar things to someone earlier today.

Although I'm not convinced that the novel of OOL is so much better than MDZS. Tastes are pretty subjective and it's hard to make claims like that in such a broad way. I've heard very mixed reviews of the book OOL is based on. A lot of people describe it as a very het, very cheezy melodramatic story. True, that sort of thing has a broad appeal, but I'm not the target market.

I haven't heard much about the story The Longest Promise is based on, but the same applies. These things are a matter of personal taste.

Having said that, I'm really looking forward to all of their new dramas and projects, and while I will likely skip some of the overtly propagandistic ones, I can't wait to see them perform in other roles. OOL is near the top of that list for me. I can't wait to see GG in that role.

To me, The Untamed is great not only because of GGDD, but also because it's just an excellent, excellent drama with an outstanding cast. I've watched it, in its entirety, 4 or 5 times, plus I watched the Special Edition (which I did not enjoy as much - it felt hacked apart). I am a fan of the show, make no mistake about it. I even own the official photo book. I know I will watch it again. I love the show.

But when it comes to fandom about the show - all the meta and gifs and fanart and discussions and, to a lesser degree, the BTS - my eyes glaze over a bit, I can't lie. I feel like I've seen it all before a thousand times - the fandom is oversaturated with all of this - and I'm just more interested in what GG and DD are up to now. They both have exciting things happening in the here and now.

The Untamed will always be special to GG and DD, and to BXG. I mean, that's a given. It's where all of this started for a lot of people, it's where GGDD had a chance to work together. It's a great show, and they both gave outstanding performances. It launched both of their careers into the stratosphere - no one can deny it (although some solos certainly try). As queer actors, this might very well be the only queer role they ever get a chance to play.

But it's also been 2 years since it aired. In the world of entertainment, 2 years might as well be 2 decades, and that's only a slight exaggeration. It's old news for a lot of people who saw it around the time it originally aired.

Of course, there are always new people discovering it and new people coming to the fandom, so there will always be turtles in particular for whom all of this is brand new and exciting. We are probably always going to see people bringing it up as though it's new. Because it's new for them.

I hope we can all try to empathize with their enthusiasm and try not to put too much of a damper on it. I do my best in this regard. I'm still happy to take asks about the show and the BTS (although my memory of some of those things is going to be rusty).

At the same time, I hope turtles - old or new - will at least try to branch out and experience some of the other material GG and DD have created, and try to support 'the whole, individual man' and not just the relationship between GGDD. There's a lot of content out there. If you can't find it in your region try some of the unofficial sites like Dramacool.

If you haven't seen The Wolf yet, you're missing out. If you haven't been watching SDOC, you're missing out. etc. etc.

However, as I've said many times - everyone gets to be a fan in whatever way works for them. If The Untamed is new for you and you want to enjoy it, enjoy! If it's old to you but you're still attached and don't want to move on from it, enjoy! If it's the only thing that interests you about GGDD, enjoy!

But please recognize as turtles that GG and DD will be moving forward in their careers, and they will talk about/feature the show less and less in their posts over time. They will emphasize new content and move on from The Untamed, at least in terms of what they highlight in interviews and social media. This isn't a 'suppression of the show', it's just time marching forward.

Recognize that a lot of the fans will be moving forward as well. There will inevitably be some people who are sick of talking about it, who find it old news, or who are more interested in other things. This isn't a 'conspiracy of silence', it's just time marching forward.

Don't let yourself feel threatened by any of that and behave in ways that disrupt the fandom when the show isn't highlighted in the way you expect it to be. Don't make up scary stories in your mind about what you fear might be 'the real' motive behind this. The simple truth is, not everything about them is going to be about that show, and that will only become more true as time marches forward.

And that applies both ways. Like I said, I hope those of us who have mostly moved on will try to be empathetic to those for whom the show is new. I hope we can all try to respect each other's approaches and not be warlike about it.

In the end, we all just love these two fools, and if we focus on what we have in common we might find any friction melts away.
