The thing about writing soljoplittle is that…. IMO they’re all kinda switches. I did, inspired by that post „dundy would top all the other lieutenants one by one like opening doors of an advent calendar“

This takes place during the first meeting of the higher ups before the expedition (did stuff like that happen? Who knows)

Yes the choice to use „mignon“ in the female form is deliberate, Dundy saw Ned and thought „wow he’d make such a good wife“ (I also want to highlight that Dundy is literally two years younger than Ned yet still he radiates major middle aged sugar daddy / dandy energy) (he says "you're cute, love" or something along those lines)

My headcanon is that Dundy while being born and raised in british dirt he switches to french when he’s feeling fagged up and romantical or when he wants to have uninterrupted 5 hour discussions with hodgsons at neckbreaking speed that no one (not even Fitzjames who would’ve probably known french decently well) can understand

Thinking a lot about a terror AU where Jopson, Jirving, and Hodge are all Theology Librarians at a university. I think it would be funny.

Obviously Jopson has a degree in theology but isn't really religious. Jirving is devout and foaming at the mouth all the time because he has to keep it chill when he's interacting with the grad students and shit - obviously he cannot proselytize at the public university. Hodge is just like a nice normal catholic who is always infodumping about like, the confessions of saint augustine or whatever and it drives Jirving up the wall because it's all apocrypha.

The main conflict/narrative would be a soljoplittle relationship developing over thanksgiving at Edward's parents house, but all of this would be happening in the background (mostly gleaned from phone calls between Jopson and Jirving) and eventually Jirving and Hodge would fuck nasty about it.
