gibson cutting things off with hickey because he valued command over him. tozer following hickey into a mutiny because he believed in him more than he believed in command. gibson telling hickey that he wasn't worth getting lashed for. tozer standing by hickey's side to be hung. gibson watching hickey get lashed and developing a guilt he's never quite able to shake, tozer watching hickey get lashed and developing a respect that would never abate. gibson wanting nothing to do with hickey and hickey continuing to pine after him. tozer being oh so loyal and obediant and hickey never listening to a word of his advice. hickey knowing gibson will always follow him, regardless of the emotional distance between them. hickey knowing tozer will never betray him, regardless of how far he pushes him. gibson and tozer both knowing hickey will betray Them, but following him to the end anyway. everyone's favorite little charismatic cult leader. you ever feel derranged
